When I came home from work on Friday, I did what I always do. I grabbed some snacks and then plopped down in front of my laptop to write a new scary story to share on Reddit. Writing was my hobby and my passion. I was especially intrigued by vampires, werewolves, and other monsters. Creating these stories kept me sane while I worked eight hours a day as a garbage man.
So, when I found out three days later that a scammy YouTuber had stolen my work, presenting it with a low-quality voiceover on his channel, I lost it. The guy who went by the name "Scary Eddie" made thousands of dollars every month with other people’s work. All the while, I had to work myself to death out there. It wasn’t fair.
I devised a plan to take revenge. First, I sent the guy an email, introducing myself as a sponsor interested in advertising on his channel. That’s how I got his real name and phone number. Finding out where he lived was easy after that. Unfortunately for Edward Johnson, aka Scary Eddie, he was renting an apartment in Chicago. Same as me.
That's when I made the biggest mistake of my life. I called my uncle Sven. Sven’s first name might sound like he’s a part-time worker at IKEA, but he’s the real deal. Uncle Sven is an old-school Viking. Blood for blood, eye for an eye, all of that. And he loved to fight. Since there were no battlefields around anymore on US ground where he could wield an axe berserker-style, he had joined the army when he was just eighteen. He had worked his way up in record time. These days, Sven worked as an independent contractor for the CIA, doing god-knows-what all over the world. Our family didn’t ask; he didn’t tell. That was the deal.
I met with Sven in a pub downtown. At first, he wasn’t interested. He told me to let it go and not waste his time with my nonsense. But it all changed when we left later that night. We were both pretty wasted. While we were waiting for our Uber, I looked up and saw that the moon was almost full. I pointed it out to Sven and explained that this was the best time to write a new werewolf story. Uncle Sven looked at me with a puzzled expression, then he threw his head back and started laughing manically. He even let out a wolf's howl.
When I asked him about his strange outburst, he wiped tears of laughter from his eyes and told me he had reconsidered. Tomorrow we would pay a visit to Scary Eddie to give him a good scare. I was happy Sven finally took me seriously, but I was also a bit nervous.
The next evening, Sven picked me up at home. He had two of his military buddies with him, both Norwegian guys. I asked why he needed extra muscle to scold a dopey YouTuber, but Sven just laughed and explained that Gunnar and Felix were with us to make sure he wouldn’t go too far. I believed him. At the end of the day, he was a paid killer for the government. I wanted to tell Eddie to leave my stories alone; I didn’t want Sven to deploy advanced interrogation tactics, as the CIA called it. It might be smart to have some level-headed guys with us.
Then the mayhem started. Eddie wasn’t amused to see some shady-looking strangers at his door, and Sven didn’t hesitate. He punched the little guy out. Gunnar and Felix put a black hood over his head and dragged the unconscious man to the car. I lost it. I screamed at Sven, asking him what he was doing and demanding he stop. He calmly told me to shut up and pay attention. The look in his eyes was unsettling at best, and I didn’t dare to speak up anymore.
We drove for hours until we reached a remote park with big trees and thick bushes. No one was around but us. Sven’s friends dragged Eddie through the undergrowth. The terrified YouTuber was awake and begging for mercy. He pleaded with me to let him go, but Sven told him that thieves had to pay. The full moon smiled down on us in an almost mocking manner.
We reached a small clearing where a woman I didn’t know was keeping a bonfire going. She was dressed in robes engraved with ancient Nordic runes. I understood that Sven had prepared this place. Horrified, I asked him what we were doing here, but my uncle just explained that tonight we would honor the old laws.
Gunnar, Felix, and Sven brought out antlers and animal bones. They put on war-paint while humming an old Norse battle hymn. All the while, Eddie was kneeling in the dirt, crying and begging. Then I understood. I was nerd enough to know about our ancestors and about Viking rituals. My uncle and his friends were preparing a sacrifice.
I tried to get Eddie to his feet so we could run away, but Sven knocked me down. He looked at me sternly and commanded me to honor our gods. This was Hel's night, and she would get her tribute. The strange woman was clearly a priestess of the old ways. She chanted sinister rhymes and danced around the fire. When midnight was upon us, I lost my mind.
All of a sudden, the fire exploded with sparks, and a horrific voice came out of the flames. It asked for the sacrifice it was owed. Sven, Gunnar, Felix, and the priestess bowed their heads. Sven pointed to Eddie and told Hel that this unworthy thief was hers to take. I thought I was in a nightmare. But it was all too real.
Roots shot out from the ground and wrapped around Eddie’s torso, neck, and arms. The poor man struggled, but he couldn’t get away. Slowly, he was dragged into the ground. My uncle and his friends had started chanting again. Then Eddie was gone. All that was left was a black circle in the earth. I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry, I wanted to run away. But all I could do was sit in the wet grass and stare in horror into the flames.
I must have passed out because I woke up in my own bed the next day. Sven was in my apartment, making me tea. When I felt strong enough to get up, he sat me down and explained that he was part of a community praying to the Norse gods. And that they were real. He offered to introduce me to the priestess, but I told him to stay away from me. He nodded and told me I could come to him when I was ready.
Ever since that horrific night, I have disturbing visions. Me as a wolf, running through a dark forest, hunting my prey. Me as a berserk warrior cutting through the ranks of my enemies. Me as a raven, laying curses on evildoers and cowards. I understand that the north is in my blood. I can hear Odin calling my name. But I’m human, and I have free will. So I choose the life of a pacifist. And why wouldn’t I? After that day, not one YouTuber dared to steal one of my stories ever again.

A little random, but related to my previous post about companions in Fallout 4, had a random thought about some (heh yeah right) interesting characters suitable for being companions with the right circumstances. Get ready for a doozy of a post cause this is long asf, at least on my screen:

• Glory (Assuming she's spared in either the Minuteman ending or a new alternate outcome to her death scene in which she lives.)
• Jack Cabot (If you don't free Lorenzo Cabot)
• Lorenzo Cabot (If you don't kill him [duh], they cannot both be recruited at the same time.)
• Edward Deegan (Possibly after Jack leaves following the fate of his father)
• Captain Ironsides (Would require you re-visiting the USSC after it full sends into the second building, you have no idea how much I wanted him to be one.)
• Virgil (Would require him to be human in order to be avaliable, would react the same to the Institute's destruction as Danse or Deacon with the destruction of their respective factions, with the added change of being able to tell him that you issued an evac order and him being saddened by the loss of technology but relieved that no more than a few HUMAN lives were lost and still being avaliable to travel with.)
• Nuka World Raider Bosses (dependent on which one DOESN'T turn on your ass, the other two would be avaliable and would act similar to Gage.)
• The Mechanist / Isabel Cruz (Not sure what would happen to Sparks, either it stays in the Lair or becomes a pseudo companion while she's with you, like how Dogmeat was supposed to work, this would also make her movable from the Lair. Could maybe have some unique voice lines depending on if she's given the Mechanist Armor back.)
• Fahrenheit (Side with Hancock, yep, that's it.)
• Scribe Haylen (Would be a fun idea to kind of take her with you when you become Paladin and help her get promoted if she so desires.)
• Brian Richter (Paladin Danse type deal where you earn his respect and he takes you under his wing in the Children of Atom faction, minus the blind betrayal ordeal) or at least an Ex-Enclave companion.
• Cito (Pass a speech check to convince him that his family could manage to keep themselves safe if he comes with you.)
• Sturges (Would become available after getting Sanctuary set up with it's resources.)
• Chase (Granted you don't let DiMa get killed.)
• The Mariner (Recruited by either completing the Red Death mission or somewhere after the first or second mission of hers.)
• Kasumi Nakano (Honestly, this borders, being a tech savvy, she'd probably have a somewhat Curie-like reasoning for traveling with you, to learn more about pre-war tech in place of the stuff Curie studies, but at the same time, my idea for her would be like, at the end of the DLC story, having her be avaliable when she returns to the Commonwealth, so it's iffy at best.)

Honorable mentions (Certain reasons limiting them): - Father (Dude the old fart literally croaks a few days after meeting the Sole Survivor) - Billy the Ghoul Kid (He's a child, obvious balancing complications from the fact that you can't kill him.) - Knight Rhys (He's a dickhead) - Sierra Petrovita (Not really the fighting type but would be a fun pick) - Gwen McNamara / Vault 81 Overseer (My reasoning was that she'd go with you to get a first-hand experience of the Commonwealth and learn more about the possibilities for interaction between it and Vault 81 but I didn't really think it made sense so I scrapped it.) - Kent Connolly (Same reason as Sierra, not the fighting type.) - KLEO (She's a shopkeeper, would cause some interference with the trade system, plus, just make an assaultron with the workbench at that point, ADA exists) - Vault Tec Sales Rep (Again, same as Sierra and Kent) - Travis Miles (Now, Travis has been shown to hold his own in a fight, but he also runs the radio, so along the lines of KLEO's reason, would interfere.)
EXTRA: - The stray ghoul dog you find outside of another Red Rocket Truck Stop (Not a companion, just would be changed so that you're able to send it to a settlement.)
Those were the ones I thought of, I know there are a few picks I haven't gotten, so feel free to tell me. Tried to limit vendors from the list with the exception of Isabel. There were some I thought about like Maxson and Ingram but my ideas for them were too far late into the BOS ending to be actually useful, so I ditched the ideas. No, no DiMa, fucker weirds me out just talking. And no Erickson, let the man take care of his dogs.

I read this Far Cry 5 fanfiction on AO3 a couple of years ago and it was so good but I can't find it anymore, it was a time loop AU. I remember a majority of the story so sorry for the long post. Spoiler warning for the game and fanfic.
The story starts with the male deputy being chained up in the bunker after the nuclear bombs have dropped. Realising he's stuck with Joseph Seed for the foreseeable future, the deputy smashes his head in and dies. He then wakes up again with Dutch in the bunker and after a couple of deaths he realises he's stuck in a time look. At one point the deputy and Grace Amsteong die at the same time and she because aware of the time loop and they end up hooking up. The deputy dies again and Grace doesn't remember anymore. Further into the story the deputy and Jacob die at the same time and Jacob becomes aware of the time loop and ends up kidnapping the deputy and severely traumatising and brainwashing him. Luckily deputy dies again and gets time looped to an early part of the the story. The deputy then avoids the whitetail mountins like the plague. At one point he's with Jesse Black and she asks him along the lines of "how badly do you wanna avoid seeing Jacob Seed", the deputy reply is "I would rather die" and he's serious about that. The rest of the story kinda plays out the same way the game does. The story ends with the deputy being stuck in the bunker with Josphe but he doesn't kill himself because he's terrified of being stuck with Jacob again.
Then the second part of the fanfiction is the deputy's time in the bunker with Joseph after the nuclear fallout. Joseph drugs the deputy with bliss for a while and he ends up dying from an overdose. Instead of a time loop, he resurrects back to life and Jospeh starts calling him lazarus. The deputy leaves the bunker after Joseph deems it safe do so. He lives out in the woods for a while with no intention of returning to Joesph but gets killed by a bear. He returns to the bunker but I can't remember what happens afterwards.
The third part of the fanfic follows the events of far cry new dawn but I don't really remember much of that.
I have no idea whether this fanfic has been deleted ? I hope this is detailed enough for someone to recognise this fanfic. Thank you in advance.

Hello, I’ve recently started researching a part of my tree that has me stumped, even though there are some good connections of evidence.
Edward Lonsdale: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/MQWP-X9T
Edward and Mary Lonsdale had four known children; Nathaniel, Jane, Ann and Margaret between 1766 and 1774 in Meldon, Northumberland (UK). They then lived at Newton Barns in Embleton around the 1800s.
Ann’s will in 1841 shows money was given to her nephews; Thomas, William and Forster Lonsdale. Since her sisters were all unmarried and Nathaniel sons were named Edward and William, this leaves Thomas and Forster. I focused on Forster.
There is a baptism record for Forster in 1780, with his father as Thomas Lonsdale. The only baptism for Thomas is in 1748 at Kirkharle with father as Edward. However, there is also another Edward Lonsdale who married a woman named Dorothy in 1749 so I’m unsure if Thos is the son of Kirkharle Edward or mine. But there are no other Forster Lonsdale’s in the whole county at this point.
Thomas in 1748 and Nathaniel in 1766 is quite a big gap. So that got me looking on other baptisms with the father as Edward Lonsdale.

A 1807 lease also shows this “24 April 1807-Budle Newtown. Lease by Sir Henry Grey to Edward and Joseph Lonsdale, farmers, of Newton Barnes, Northumberland.”
The Edward mentioned in the farm lease above I also believe matches the 1760 baptism, so Joseph’s older brother.
I should also mention that Jane, Ann, Margaret, Nathaniel, Joseph, Edward (1760) were all buried in the same churchyard at Embleton, as well as their parents. There were no other Lonsdales buried in this church.
So I reckon it could be plausible. But it still feels very uncertain.
