 | Ever since the rise of Japanese influence within the Pacific, seeking to stake early claims as European eyes increasingly sought out to mark out their own territorial ambitions as had happened to the likes of Africa or China, the Kingdom of Hawai’i found itself under the Japanese thumb for decades. Reduced to a mere vassal until being annexed outright and placed under the direct rule of Tokyo, life for Hawaiians living in the country became as much as one would expect to a territory seen as on the imperial periphery of the Rising Sun’s ambitions for the broader Pacific at large. Crackdowns on dissenters and supposed enemies, and increased deployment of Japanese soldiers to the island territory to keep order. submitted by Some_Pole to Presidentialpoll [link] [comments] Whilst the process technically began when Hawai’i was a vassal state, following annexation, the policy of forced Japanification of the island chain’s populace ramped up. Involving the stifling of the Hawaiian language and customs whilst enforcing the Japanese language at the intentional expense of the locals regardless of origin prior to Japanese annexation. Such a system would prompt a slow migration out of the island chain, mostly by Hawaiian-Americans to the United States following the turn of the 20th Century with some of the more notable examples being the likes of Hiram Bingham III who’d go on to serve in the Rocky Mountain War, and later as US Senator for the Solidarity Party. This status quo would exist unchanged until 1934, which would see the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War. The United States under President John Dewey expressed support for Russia, vowing to deliver aid to the battered Russian army only to be stymied in Congress by Isolationist Social Democrats, something that’d later go on to be a precursor to the larger schism that’d take place in the party years later. In response to the American pledge for aid, the Japanese presence in Hawai’i increased with the stationing of more troops and especially the arrival of Kempeitai agents to be on the lookout for suspected spies for the United States, as military commanders in Tokyo now started to contemplate the prospect that the US and Japan may come to blows against each other in the relatively near future. Japanese Imperial soldiers conducting exercises on Hawaiian coast. Circa 1936. Such an anti-American sentiment would increase the Hawaiian-American drive for those who didn’t feel secure within the country to leave to the United States, something that’d continue up until the summer of 1939 following the declaration of war upon Japan by the US under the Hayes administration. What followed was the effective declaration of martial law in the islands. Civilian movement in or out of the chain was strictly forbidden unless given permission to do so by the local government, and American-Hawaiians meanwhile, were to be rounded up and placed in internment camps until the war was over. This however would be changed as Japanese military commanders would rightfully suspect American military plans would depend on taking the islands, and the bombings at San Diego and in general along the West Coast were mere delay tactics. Thus, the use of forced labor would begin to be used in Hawai’i, at first by convicts but later would be drawn in to include inturned American-Hawaiians, local native Hawaiians and migrants to the territory to erect military fortifications with the full intent of making the Americans bleed for every inch of the island chain. The suspicions of the Japanese commanders would be proven right during the battle for Midway in 1943, to Hawai’i’s northwest. Whilst the battle was inconclusive, and Japanese forces took it as a sign that Hawai’i’s defenses were practically impenetrable, it did still linger in the backs of their minds of the prospect of an American invasion of, potentially, an encirclement. Needless to say, the conditions that many had found themselves to work in by force had led to a dramatic decline in the quality of life for many as the forced labor resulted in many dying for a variety of reasons. To replace the dead, the Japanese would start bringing in captured civilians from occupied territories or POWs. One of these surviving POWs would be US navy pilot George H. W. Bush, who’d go on to recount to Congress his experience as a slave on Hawai’i in 1948. “I was with a small group of other people. We were tired, barely eaten and constantly being yelled at. Not like I, or anyone else I was with could understand much of what was verbally bombarded at us. We could barely understand each other, considering I was an American stuck with a Filipino, three Chinese men, a Mexican, two guys from India and a German. But we all understood one thing. Do as they gestured for you to do, or they’d shoot you. Saw it happen more times than I could count. It was bad enough that we weren’t armed, but they also made sure to try and starve us. To exhaust us. Break out will of even looking at them funny.” Photograph of early forced labor being used in Hawai'i. Once the war swung decisively against the Japanese and Hawai’i found itself navally encircled, the Imperial army’s mindset of never surrendering kicked in. Slavery on the island expanded from the construction of military fortifications, now with the full intent of fighting for every last inch of Hawai’i from all sides, but to also farm and mine for raw materials to sustain operations for as long as possible. The nearly four remaining years of the war would go on to be the darkest in the modern history of Hawai'i. The situation in the islands up until Japan’s surrender in 1947 matched the ferocity and desperation to never surrender at gunpoint, with the remaining IJA forces clamping down harder and harder upon the territory. Even the most wealthy landed Hawaiians who were previously exempt from the Japanese wrath started to feel the heat. Mass executions for the most minor of crimes took place as famine started to creep in thanks to the agricultural efforts happening in soil that lacked fertility due to the influence of Hawai’i’s elite to make sure their properties were untouched. It would only be until the broadcast of Japanese surrender broadly by the Emperor himself that’d get the majority of IJA troops in Hawai’i to stand down and also accept surrender. Following this, Hawai’i found itself under military occupation by the United States, who was tasked with first stabilizing the situation as by this point, the islands had fallen under a litany of crises that tested the capacity of the occupied government greatly as the chain was on the cusp of entering a famine with looters out on the streets of major cities, medical supplies scarce in the face of disease outbreaks of Black Death and ultimately, an inability to provide more housing than it currently could. Tasked with the responsibility of overseeing Hawai’i was the newly promoted lieutenant general; William Howard Arnold. Starting off as a humble division leader, Arnold would find himself moving up the ranks of leadership over the course of the war until being promoted to Lt. General to serve as Allied Commander of Hawai’i. William Howard Arnold; Allied Commander of Hawai'i. First order of business upon arriving in Honolulu was securing the logistical situation on the island. While food and medical imports started arriving to Hawai’i shortly after surrender, Arnold discovered the rate was woefully insufficient. Fortunately he didn’t have to look far as the US army would organize the distribution of relief across much of the Pacific. Making use of America’s economy still being in a state of war-time production, Arnold and his men would ensure the stabilization of Hawai’i’s medical crisis and risk of famine through 1947 to 1949. It’d be during this time too when those forcefully taken to Hawai’i during the war to serve as slave labor would be brought back to their nations of origin. Often, this would involve Arnold’s staffers needing to make several dozen phone calls a day to ambassadors of the various nations that these prisoners came from to help organize their return. As the worst excesses of Hawai’i’s troubles was being resolved, now came the matter of governance and the creation of a provisional government. With no real royal family left, and under orders from the White House, Arnold agreed to ensure the establishment of a republican government. The orders to establish an independent Hawai’ian republic came from President Alvin York himself, following the same principles that led to the independence of Taiwan, Indonesia, Manchuria, the Philippines, and Korea in an attempt to keep the perspective of America being an anti-colonialist liberator, rather than a conqueror. To serve as the president of this provisional government, Arnold would meet with Samuel Wilder King. King was a former member of the Honolulu City Council, upon the Board of Supervisors and also representative for Honolulu within the local territorial government, but would find himself forced to resign and later placed under house arrest for objecting to the usage of forced labor and unlawful violence against prisoners of war for the duration of the war until the arrival of American GIs shortly after Japan’s surrender. Samuel Wilder King; President of Hawai'i. King would accept the proposal, but would also go on to point out to Arnold that the island was majority populated by Japanese, native and other Asian-Hawaiians and whilst he may have been a native, it was on the grounds of being mixed with an American-Hawaiian father. If the role of president in Hawai’i, following the model seen in other republics, is to purely be ceremonial and the real power would be expected to be in the Prime Minister, getting a man from one of these majority populations would work better in bridging the gap. Given the difficulties facing the people living in Hawai’i, King suggested crossing the ideological aisle and attempting to convince Koji Ariyoshi to perhaps serve as Prime Minister. Ariyoshi for his part was a labor activist, and later served as an anti-war dissident that’d have him partake in forced labor for a brief period of time. Arnold however, had different plans. Viewing Ariyoshi with suspicion and frankly unsure if York would’ve even accepted a socialist becoming the first Prime Minister of Hawai’i, he instead turned to Pai’ea Chung-Hoon. Chung-Hoon himself was a relatively low profile individual who served in the Imperial Japanese Navy, often being used as more of a propaganda piece for the Japanese empire on the Co-Prosperity Sphere. Chung-Hoon resented the position but found it difficult to leave and it has been something that has hung over him since the end of the war. Pai’ea Chung-Hoon; Prime Minister of Hawai'i. When Arnold arrived to meet him, Chung-Hoon had fully expected that he'd potentially be placed on trial, only to be surprised when offered the role of Prime Minister of a provisional government though quickly accepted upon Arnold’s insistence. By the start of the 1948 summer season, Hawai’i had a head of state and head of government. Drafting the constitution of Hawai’i would take the rest of the summer, seeing the remodeling or outright bulldozing of Hawai’ian government institutions to make way for the government. However, there was another aspect that York, although gone by this point, had insisted with President Merriam also insisting to Arnold. Hawai’i must tolerate an American military presence on the grounds of overall Pacific security. Meeting again with King and Chung-Hoon, the two men and Arnold would come to a deal in allowing the presence of American forces in the country, however it’d come on the grounds that the US navy gets to use Pearl Harbor as a major naval installation for its Pacific fleet, and effectively handing over the island of Kaho‘olawe to serve as a military base for the Americans, under a legally binding lease that would last over eighty years and under the expectations that the Americans would be the ones paying for the installations. Pearl Harbor for its part was a major port before the war, and would be at times home to fleets of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Kaho‘olawe meanwhile, being entirely uninhabited, was used as a munitions testing ground and target practice for training naval crews at Hawai’i. Whilst President Merriam and Congress would sign off on this agreement with the 1948 Treaty of Honolulu, the move back in Hawai’i was met with mixed reception. The loss of an uninhabited island and a major port being repurposed for another power for eighty years wasn’t the most shocking, yet it seemingly did question the legitimacy of the claim that America was liberating the Pacific, yet taking an entire island for itself to have a practically for many, permanent troop garrison in the country. Koji Ariyoshi himself, becoming a writer for the Honolulu Record, an effective mouthpiece for the newly formed Hawaiian Labor Party, would write critical essays, calling the United States hypocritical in his pledges when such demands could’ve been sorted through treating Hawai’i as an equal and not a subordinate. This however wouldn’t stop either Hawai’ian legislature from giving their approval of the treaty. Come the turn of the new year in January of 1949, Arnold would resign his position as the Allied Commander of Hawai’i following King’s proclamation declaring the new republic’s independence to join the leagues of newly created nations that had sprung up in the post-war springtime of nations across much of the Asia-Pacific region. Without the Lord of the Ashen Warpath’s discipline, we would turn and flee at the first sign of danger; without the Lord of the Cavernous Depths’ diligence, we would shy from righteous toil and waste our time in slothful laxity; and without the Lord of the Unyielding Glacier's determination, we would surely wither under the strain and stress of hardship. So I went on a cruise where the only non-American port was in Mexico yet they still had signs that said “passports required” and checking passports on embarkation day(and I think disembarkation day but it was a few months ago so I don’t remember exactly) and in and out of the Mexican port. Luckily I had it, but everywhere online says you don’t need it. Now we’re planning a cruise in Bermuda but my sister may not be able to get a passport in time, and we can’t push it off because she has to go back to college in august

Hi Everyone!
This is my first write-up of any kind of unresolved mystery, on any platform, so I apologize for any formatting errors and my storytelling ability. Today I would like to hear your thoughts on the very mysterious death of Noah Presgrove, a 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with the details, but there is a great deal of conflicting information in the news reports, so I primarily used facts stated by Noah's family in interviews. With that said, let's begin...
Noah Presgrove was a handsome, athletic 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma, which is located just south of Oklahoma City in the middle of the state. Noah had recently graduated high school in the spring of 2023 and was waiting for his cousin to do the same the following year so they both could enlist in the Marine Corp together and serve our country. By all accounts Noah was a ladies man, standing at 6'2" with an athletic build, in high school he was a 4-sport athlete with American Football and Wrestling among them. His family also says he was adventurous, kind and very much a jokester who would happily play pranks on his family. Last Labor Day weekend, the first weekend of September 2023, Noah was deciding between attending Rocklahoma, an annual 3-day hard rock and metal festival held in Pryor, Oklahoma, with family members or attending a 4-day Labor Day weekend bash/22nd birthday party of a friend. Noah considered going to Rocklahoma, but changed his mind when the family members he'd be attending with said they didn't think it was a good idea for Noah's 16 year old friend to join them there, since they didn't know this friend's family and Rocklahoma is big for consuming alcohol. With that, everyone went their own way to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The Labor Day/Birthday party was for a female friend of Noah's who was turning 22. It had been advertised on Snapchat, even containing the address, so quite a few people were expected to attend. Noah drove himself to the party on Saturday and by all accounts enjoyed himself. He did text his family member who was at Rocklahoma and express regret at not going with them, but it doesn't appear that this put too much of a damper on his attitude at the house party. After spending Saturday at the birthday girl's house, Noah returned home Sunday, probably to freshen up and take care of any outstanding errands or just check in with his grandmother, with whom he lived. Also, Noah's car was leaking from the oil pan, so it sounds like part of the reason to return home was to leave it there so he wouldn't have to worry about it. There are two stories about what happened next: The first is that one of Noah's friends picked him up from his house on Sunday, but took him to a truck stop so he could grab some food from the Sonic there. Oddly, the friend who took him there says he left him there and Noah was then given a ride to the party by the birthday girl, who had to come pick him up. The other story is that his best friend picked him up from his house and took him directly to the party, leaving him in the driveway. Either way, Noah was back at the party on Sunday and according to those present, was very much enjoying himself. There were videos from the party showing Noah and his friends doing "guy things" like the Slap Game, where two people try to slap each other across the face as hard as they can. Just "macho" drunken teenage guy things. There was also video from the party of the guests playing "classic" party games such as beer pong.
With all the drinking going on, some issues were bound to arise. A confrontation happened between Noah and his best friend. Noah had been in a corner with his best friend's girlfriend and apparently they had their backs to everyone else while talking. The best friend took exception to this and an argument ensued. Luckily, it did not become physical and they made up shortly after, but this event with the best friend and his girlfriend is important for later. A second confrontation occurred between Noah and a 16 year old guest that did become physical. The 16 year old accused Noah of hiding his phone, although the reasons why he thought Noah did it have not been stated. During the argument the kid "fishhooked" Noah and Noah returned the favor by biting his finger. It seems like the other people there were able to diffuse the situation and the kid's phone was found underneath another guest who was sleeping on a couch. As the day went on, things continued to become crazier as the people at the party drank more and more. At one point girls at the party started signing their names on Noah's torso and buttocks, writing things such as "Noah's hot!" and drawing a cartoon penis on his rear-end. Noah and the best friend he had the argument with even drove a John Deere "Gator" UTV "Side by Side" around the property, but stopped when Noah scrapped his hand almost flipping it over. Some people even say that Noah was tossed from the UTV, but he was checked out by a nurse at the party and she said he had nothing to worry about. Another event worth mentioning is that the birthday girl seemed to have a crush on Noah. Noah realized this, or was told this, and while talking to her about it called her a "fat, nasty b*tch". I assume that they were close friends and this is just a drunken teen being a drunken teen. An odd thing to mention is that this girl's mother, who also lives in the home, had told Noah's family that she believed Noah wanted her sexually. Whether this is true or not, I have no clue, but it seems a very weird thing to say to the family of a 19 year old your daughter is friends with.
So here's where the mystery comes in. Early Monday morning (September 4th, 2023), after 2:00am, the guests say that Noah was upset about something and that it might have had to do with sleeping in either the birthday girl's or her mother's bed. One of them either heard, or saw, Noah attempting to sleep in their bed and demanded that he go on the floor. This apparently upset Noah so much that he said he needed to go out for a walk, completely drunk, very early in the morning. The guests say Noah was wearing his best friend's shorts (we'll get to his clothes later) and could only find one of his shoes, so he grabbed another shoe lying around the house and took off out the front door. The house had a 1/2 mile long driveway that then went out to US-81, a major North-South highway that runs for 1,200+ miles through the central US. At 3:41am, a friend of Noah's posted a weird Snapchat: a photo of a girl at the party smiling, with the caption "well, Noah's missing". This was the last Snapchat posted by any of the partygoers after days of constant videos and pics. Around 5:00am, a semi-truck driving along US-81 saw something he believed to be a body lying on the shoulder of the road. After driving past, he became concerned and turned around to confirm what he saw. By the time he got back, two other vehicles had stopped in front of the lifeless body of Noah on the shoulder. He was completely naked wearing only 2 mismatched shoes and curled up in a fetal position. He appeared to have blunt force trauma to the back of his head. He had small scrapes on his left shoulder and left hip and his fingertips on both hands were reported as being "shredded", down to the bone. Noah's front top and bottom teeth had also been knocked out and they were found scattered at the scene. There was no blood found at the scene, other than a small amount around Noah's injuries. Very concerning was the fact that there was no writing on his body anywhere. Not on his torso and not on his buttocks. The shorts Noah was wearing were found folded up next him. The people at the party said "They must've been knocked off when he was hit.", which obviously does not make sense.
Around 6:00am, with the police already notified by the people who found Noah, all Snapchat's/social media from people at the party was deleted. His friends and acquaintances at the party say they have no idea what led up to his death and they were unaware of it. The police did not search the house because they said: "Noah wasn't found there.". They did eventually conduct a "mass" interview with all the partygoers. During this interview, Noah's best friend's girlfriend, the one that led to his first confrontation, told police she had never met Noah. She had wiped her phone so completely that even her boyfriend's number had been deleted. When the guests were asked about Noah being naked, the girls said they gave Noah a "shower", but Noah's mental state at the time, whether mildly drunk or completely inebriated, has been an area of dispute among the guests. Some say he was joking around and being himself while being showered, other accounts state that he was barely conscious. Noah's clothing he wore to the party that night has never been located. Police were told that after Noah showered his clothes were dirty, so he wore his friend's shorts. There is a rumor that his best friend's father found Noah's shirt from the party, which was then cut-up and distributed to the party attendees as a "memento". In addition to this event with his shirt, there is also information that his best friend's father had some of Noah's teeth in his pocket. He stated he "accidentally" picked them up from the crime scene. It's worth stating that this particular individual has been on Noah's family's Facebook memorial page for months, arguing with others on there. Just very odd behavior from an adult father who's son's best friend died mysteriously. But, on this same topic, NONE of the partygoers or their families have ever visited Noah's family to express their condolences. Never once.
Since Noah's friends and others at the party said they didn't know what happened, the police had their work cut out for them. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol obtained a "geofence" warrant covering a 1-1/2 mile radius around the party house. What they found was a bit disturbing. Around the time it is believed Noah died, 2 phones were traced as having left the house, heading to the location of his body. After briefly staying there, the two phones returned to the house. People at the party told a private investigator hired by Noah's family that they went out looking for Noah in the UTV/Gator that Noah and his friend had been on earlier. The family has engaged with a private investigator, who did uncover previously unknown information, and gave that to the police. They have also said that there is much more which has not been publicly released and that the search of the phones did uncover good information. So, with all of the above information, it doesn't seem to be a stretch to say that someone from the party knows something. It is my personal belief that this case will be resolved, but I think three things will have to happen: Time, Pressure and Guilt. At some point in the future, someone from the party will feel guilty, or media pressure will get to them and they will talk. This is my first write-up of any kind of unresolved mystery, on any platform, so I apologize for any formatting errors and my storytelling ability. Today I would like to hear your thoughts on the very mysterious death of Noah Presgrove, a 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with the details, but there is a great deal of conflicting information in the news reports, so I primarily used facts stated by Noah's family in interviews. With that said, let's begin...
Noah Presgrove was a handsome, athletic 19 year old from Comanche Oklahoma, which is located just south of Oklahoma City in the middle of the state. Noah had recently graduated high school in the spring of 2023 and was waiting for his cousin to do the same the following year so they both could enlist in the Marine Corp together and serve our country. By all accounts Noah was a ladies man, standing at 6'2" with an athletic build, in high school he was a 4-sport athlete with American Football and Wrestling among them. His family also says he was adventurous, kind and very much a jokester who would happily play pranks on his family. Last Labor Day weekend, the first weekend of September 2023, Noah was deciding between attending Rocklahoma, an annual 3-day hard rock and metal festival held in Pryor, Oklahoma, with family members or attending a 4-day Labor Day weekend bash/22nd birthday party of a friend. Noah considered going to Rocklahoma, but changed his mind when the family members he'd be attending with said they didn't think it was a good idea for Noah's 16 year old friend to join them there, since they didn't know this friend's family and Rocklahoma is big for consuming alcohol. With that, everyone went their own way to celebrate the holiday weekend.
The Labor Day/Birthday party was for a female friend of Noah's who was turning 22. It had been advertised on Snapchat, even containing the address, so quite a few people were expected to attend. Noah drove himself to the party on Saturday and by all accounts enjoyed himself. He did text his family member who was at Rocklahoma and express regret at not going with them, but it doesn't appear that this put too much of a damper on his attitude at the house party. After spending Saturday at the birthday girl's house, Noah returned home Sunday, probably to freshen up and take care of any outstanding errands or just check in with his grandmother, with whom he lived. Also, Noah's car was leaking from the oil pan, so it sounds like part of the reason to return home was to leave it there so he wouldn't have to worry about it. There are two stories about what happened next: The first is that one of Noah's friends picked him up from his house on Sunday, but took him to a truck stop so he could grab some food from the Sonic there. Oddly, the friend who took him there says he left him there and Noah was then given a ride to the party by the birthday girl, who had to come pick him up. The other story is that his best friend picked him up from his house and took him directly to the party, leaving him in the driveway. Either way, Noah was back at the party on Sunday and according to those present, was very much enjoying himself. There were videos from the party showing Noah and his friends doing "guy things" like the Slap Game, where two people try to slap each other across the face as hard as they can. Just "macho" drunken teenage guy things. There was also video from the party of the guests playing "classic" party games such as beer pong.
With all the drinking going on, some issues were bound to arise. A confrontation happened between Noah and his best friend. Noah had been in a corner with his best friend's girlfriend and apparently they had their backs to everyone else while talking. The best friend took exception to this and an argument ensued. Luckily, it did not become physical and they made up shortly after, but this event with the best friend and his girlfriend is important for later. A second confrontation occurred between Noah and a 16 year old guest that did become physical. The 16 year old accused Noah of hiding his phone, although the reasons why he thought Noah did it have not been stated. During the argument the kid "fishhooked" Noah and Noah returned the favor by biting his finger. It seems like the other people there were able to diffuse the situation and the kid's phone was found underneath another guest who was sleeping on a couch. As the day went on, things continued to become crazier as the people at the party drank more and more. At one point girls at the party started signing their names on Noah's torso and buttocks, writing things such as "Noah's hot!" and drawing a cartoon penis on his rear-end. Noah and the best friend he had the argument with even drove a John Deere "Gator" UTV "Side by Side" around the property, but stopped when Noah scrapped his hand almost flipping it over. Some people even say that Noah was tossed from the UTV, but he was checked out by a nurse at the party and she said he had nothing to worry about. Another event worth mentioning is that the birthday girl seemed to have a crush on Noah. Noah realized this, or was told this, and while talking to her about it called her a "fat, nasty b*tch". I assume that they were close friends and this is just a drunken teen being a drunken teen. An odd thing to mention is that this girl's mother, who also lives in the home, had told Noah's family that she believed Noah wanted her sexually. Whether this is true or not, I have no clue, but it seems a very weird thing to say to the family of a 19 year old your daughter is friends with.
So here's where the mystery comes in. Early Monday morning (September 4th, 2023), after 2:00am, the guests say that Noah was upset about something and that it might have had to do with sleeping in either the birthday girl's or her mother's bed. One of them either heard, or saw, Noah attempting to sleep in their bed and demanded that he go on the floor. This apparently upset Noah so much that he said he needed to go out for a walk, completely drunk, very early in the morning. The guests say Noah was wearing his best friend's shorts (we'll get to his clothes later) and could only find one of his shoes, so he grabbed another shoe lying around the house and took off out the front door. The house had a 1/2 mile long driveway that then went out to US-81, a major North-South highway that runs for 1,200+ miles through the central US. At 3:41am, a friend of Noah's posted a weird Snapchat: a photo of a girl at the party smiling, with the caption "well, Noah's missing". This was the last Snapchat posted by any of the partygoers after days of constant videos and pics. Around 5:00am, a semi-truck driving along US-81 saw something he believed to be a body lying on the shoulder of the road. After driving past, he became concerned and turned around to confirm what he saw. By the time he got back, two other vehicles had stopped in front of the lifeless body of Noah on the shoulder. He was completely naked wearing only 2 mismatched shoes and curled up in a fetal position. He appeared to have blunt force trauma to the back of his head. He had small scrapes on his left shoulder and left hip and his fingertips on both hands were reported as being "shredded", down to the bone. Noah's front top and bottom teeth had also been knocked out and they were found scattered at the scene. There was no blood found at the scene, other than a small amount around Noah's injuries. Very concerning was the fact that there was no writing on his body anywhere. Not on his torso and not on his buttocks. The shorts Noah was wearing were found folded up next him. The people at the party said "They must've been knocked off when he was hit.", which obviously does not make sense.
Around 6:00am, with the police already notified by the people who found Noah, all Snapchat's/social media from people at the party was deleted. His friends and acquaintances at the party say they have no idea what led up to his death and they were unaware of it. The police did not search the house because they said: "Noah wasn't found there.". They did eventually conduct a "mass" interview with all the partygoers. During this interview, Noah's best friend's girlfriend, the one that led to his first confrontation, told police she had never met Noah. She had wiped her phone so completely that even her boyfriend's number had been deleted. When the guests were asked about Noah being naked, the girls said they gave Noah a "shower", but Noah's mental state at the time, whether mildly drunk or completely inebriated, has been an area of dispute among the guests. Some say he was joking around and being himself while being showered, other accounts state that he was barely conscious. Noah's clothing he wore to the party that night has never been located. Police were told that after Noah showered his clothes were dirty, so he wore his friend's shorts. There is a rumor that his best friend's father found Noah's shirt from the party, which was then cut-up and distributed to the party attendees as a "memento". In addition to this event with his shirt, there is also information that his best friend's father had some of Noah's teeth in his pocket. He stated he "accidentally" picked them up from the crime scene. It's worth stating that this particular individual has been on Noah's family's Facebook memorial page for months, arguing with others on there. Just very odd behavior from an adult father who's son's best friend died mysteriously. But, on this same topic, NONE of the partygoers or their families have ever visited Noah's family to express their condolences. Never once.
Since Noah's friends and others at the party said they didn't know what happened, the police had their work cut out for them. The first mention of them appears in the annals of the Mao dynasty [12th century aTwbW], but their sufficiently high level of development at that time indicates a long existence. Referring to the development of cultures of other nations, historians suggest that the first real newts appeared in the 4th-2nd centuries bTwbW. A curious phenomenon is the physiology of newts was probably fully formed in the 1st millennium aTwbW and has not changed until now. Thus, the newts are one of the few nations [others are gerbils and rats] that has a completely natural origin, which does not include evolutionary changes that occur as a result of the development of civilization. This is explained by the place of newts in the evolutionary chain. Biologically, the newt is a swamp alpha predator. Solid physical performance, the highest intelligence, pack lifestyle, using of primitive tools and a strong hunting instinct allowed newts to dominate their habitat without the development of technologies. In fact, advanced technologies have only complemented this picture, without changing it in any way. The average life expectancy of a newt is 60-75 years (one of the longest in the Small World). The real average life expectancy of a newt does not exceed 40 years. 50yo newts are considered old, 60yo and more considered venerable elders. The front paws are weak, but at the same time they are very agile and have developed fine motor skills. Thus, newts are great runners, but bad arm wrestlers. The spine, neck and tail of the newt are extremely strong. With a blow of the tail, a newt can seriously injur a relative or an adult frog. Starting from the ground with the tail and hind paws, an average newt can jump 10-15 steps in length and from 2 to 3 of its own height. That’s what I seem to say when things go wrong at least. Is it just me or is it much easier to look for signs from the universe when things go tits up and thank skill otherwise? Anyway.
What I’m saying is that there must be cosmic power out there doing everything it can to prevent me from getting my hands on some Glastonbury festival tickets.
But that’s not the real problem; lots of people miss out on Glastonbury tickets every year. No, the real problem is that the same celestial being that is blocking my chances has also planted the deepest desire any human has ever had for it in my soul.
Now you see the problem?
Nice, well let me tell you how this rather irrelevant problem in the grand scheme of things led to some of the greatest moments of my life.
Before I jump in, you may be wondering what the point in this post is. Well, there are two reasons.
But here we go. Here’s how repeatedly missing out on Glastonbury festival tickets has made some unbelievable stories, and how being backed into a corner with nothing but desire can create yours too.
There was this realisation that it’s likely we could never go.
That time keeps ploughing forward and we retain our high score of being denied access.
It’s then that something kicked in. Have you felt it before?
It’s that burst of adrenaline that hits you like a kiss. You suddenly become a visionary. You’ve gone from being in a pit with no exit to becoming a library of ideas and possibilities. There’s this sense of eternal optimism and possibility.

By sitting on your problem for long enough that it starts to feel comfortable.
Y’see, it’s not what you have that brings you victory, it’s how you use it. When you have less you are naturally more inventive.
And when you’ve been battered repeatedly, you either get creative or die.
Here’s how the stars aligned themselves for us.
It was October 2019 when we missed out.

After trawling through the Glastonbury festival website, we stumbled upon a third release of tickets. A set number of tickets that are released for the press and media outlets. This. This is it. This is our way in.
I remember it as clear as day.
I jumped on the phone and pitched the idea to the gang. Hesitant at first, but the energy made the sale.
No Taste was born. The reason you’re reading this now.
We spun up the website in days. Reached out for volunteers to help create content by reviewing gigs and going out ourselves most nights of the week. We had press and professional photo passes within weeks of starting and were churning out high-quality content at a rate that had us lined up for the media release in February.
Honestly, I’ve never felt more alive.
Here I was navigating a media site, with no real idea of the etiquette or any idea of how to do anything in this space for that matter.
Just weeks before I was slumped in bed after another failed attempt to buy tickets. Now we have something as big as Glastonbury, at least in my mind.
We had the logo tattooed on our chest to ink it into existence. (In the same place, which, of course, we later came to regret when going on holiday together.)
In February 2020, we submitted our press application.
In March 2020, everyone had No Taste and COVID-19 closed down the UK, cancelling the Glastonbury festival. For about two years, there was no live music and the festival that ignited No Taste paused.
No Taste still lives on, evidently, and I still get that buzz each time we review a show.
We’re yet to get in as press but watch this space.
But we were going and we were telling everyone that we were going.
“Oh lucky, you managed to get tickets”, people would say.
“Ahh…, we’re actually missing that part”, we’d confidently return.
There’d be an awkward, confused silence.
We’d then explain how we’re going to be there, we just don’t know how. And people just believed us.
It’s that conviction you get from having a clear vision. A visceral desire.
People might be sceptical, but they’re still going to watch.
And you just have this infectious vitality that opens up things you’ve never even dreamt of.
I’d watched a video beforehand that mentioned ‘throwing your bag over the fence’. It meant more metaphorically, but it works in reality in this context too. Essentially it’s saying that if you throw your bag over the fence, you’ve no other choice but to scale it to get it back.
On the big day, we set off with our packed bags and not one iota of an idea of how we’re getting in.
There’s a long, insanely serendipitous story of how we managed to walk in here, but that’s exactly what happened.
We just… walked in.
It may have taken us over ten hours, but we did it.
And it was easily one of the greatest moments of my life, all from being unable to buy tickets.
So not all is lost if you were also unable to get tickets. Hopefully, there’s been some inspiration in here.
And guess what, it’s 2024 and that’s right, we missed out again.
We've already spent the same amount as the tickets on Tony's Chocolonely, started drinking at random times of the day with Brothers cider and lost half my friends by spamming them with instagram tags to no avail.
Sneaking in is off the cards as that was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, but it hasn’t stopped the scheming and plotting.
In fact, as mentioned, this is part of the plot.

For the sake of privacy we'll call the friend that is getting married, Sofie and the ex friend, Alice.
This is a long one so I apologize but context it needed to fully understand why I did this. And to be fair, this is an insane experience all together so buckle up. This may be the only unique experience I have and I wish I didn't.
Alice and I have known each other all of our lives. Our parents were close so we grew up together. I saw her much more like a sister to me than a friend and we always looked out for one another. Alice struggled in her teen years with alcohol and getting in to the wrong crowd but she did her best to clean up and change things. In our early twenties we decided to move out together and become roomates. It was me, her, and her longtime boyfriend who I also had a friendship with. We'll call him Nathan. Things were great the first few months. But as time went on we started butting heads. Alice didn't have a job at the time (she did at the time of us signing the lease. I also lost my job before moving in but quickly found whatever I could) Alice kept saying she'd find another job but she never did. Nathan only worked part time at minium wage and out apartment was 1200 a months. So he couldn't afford to pay her half of the rent so I started taking it on and she would pay me back a few weeks later after she managed to sell some clothes or whatever. It got to the point where I was struggling and pulling extra hours of work to keep up. I would come home in the middle of summer where it's 104 out and they have the thermostat at 62 and would get mad at me if I turned it up to 72 because 'it was unbearably hot' our ac bill for our small apartment was insane because of this and granted, I'm the one pretty much paying for most of it.
They would get mad at me for the smallest thing. Guilt me and saying I treated them like children when they were adults. But yeah, I'm gonna be mad if I come home and you left our electric fire place on in the summer because you like the aesthetic and our ac is blasting.
Now, here is where things take a turn and get Weird. Both me and alice are Hispanic and we were both raised religious. Due to our heritage and background, we have both experienced paranormal stuff growing up and within our families. It's not uncommon in Mexican culture to deal with the paranormal. I have some severe ptsd thanks to several past experiences I had as a child that I won't get into. When we moved out we were both religious people. Over the next few months Alice began to deconstruct her faith and wanted to find what she believed which I supported her on that. The one rule I had was not to bring anything or interact with anything paranormal. I did not want that in my apartment and she knows and has witnessed my recovery from my trauma with certain things. She completely agreed. She started exploring things with crystals, Tarot, all of that stuff and I gave her space and let her do her thing.
This is when Sofie came in to our lives. She was an old friend from HS that wanted to reconnect with us and we began hanging out. All of three of us were friends but me and Sofie hung out more. Over the course of the next few months things got weird in our apartment. Lights would flicker occasionally, their cat would meow and hiss at seemingly nothing. We would make jokes and move on. And Because I was working so much and I also had health issues, my mental health began to decline. I have severe depression and have been able to maintain it but due to the stress and my own isolation, It began to worse. Also they never cleaned the apartment unless asked (even tho Alice was home nearly every day) their cat would tear up the carpet. They'd leave dirty dishes all over the kitchen and internet would shut off because they'd forget to pay the internet bill (the only bill they managed on their own) because Nathan didn't believe in checking mail even if they were late notices. He'd toss them all. We'd get into fights and they would tell me how horrible of a friend I was because I had to 'constantly nag them' when they were behind on rent or reminding them we could not afford to have our ac at 62 in the summer.
7 months in and I made the decision to not renew our least together. We both wanted to try and save our friendship in anyway we could so as soon as it was up, we would part ways and I would move in with my brother and SIL and help them out for a bit until I found another place to stay.
Month 10. I was so physically sick, the doctors wasn't sure what was wrong with me. My mental health declined so bad that I began contemplating suicide. I was under so much stress and in debt. They were nearly 2 months behind on rent. But I didn't want us to get evicted and I'm a people pleaser and I wanted these last few months just to get over with. They left for a trip to see a family member for 2 weeks. Taking the cat and leaving me alone in the apartment. I was so happy for the first day. And then that's when everything happened.
Whispers were coming from their room. Like someone was having a conversation. I could never hear what was being said but as soon as I'd get close enough, it would stop. Their lights and lamps would turn on at night. On day 3 I went in and unplugged EVERYTHING to make sure it wasn't on some sort of timer. I guess it didn't like that because at night, the door would open and slam shut, repeatedly. It would do it so hard it shook the walls. Because of my own depression I literally thought I was losing my mind and it was in my head. No way this was happening. Things began to rearrange themselves. I could hear it. Furniture moving, jewelry being moved around, all of it, in their room. I texted Alice making a joke about how her room may be haunted. She replied with "familiar spirits get curious when their owners leave. It's fine"
I asked her to clarify. She pretty much told me she was in contact with something and since they were gone it was just curious and exploring.
I... I really had no words. I felt betrayed and lied too. How hard was it to not bring something into this apartment? To not communicate with things in our house? I should have left then. I didn't. While it stayed in the room, I could feel it. Like it was watching me. I grew paranoid. I didn't tell anyone. Didn't want to make a big fuss I just wanted to leave so I made plans to move out sooner then later.
One day. I just snapped. I don't put blame on her. I should have reached out, let people in and not isolate. I don't think she even knew how bad it was for me. I text my best friend, the one friend I knew doesn't text back for HOURS if not a day before my attempt. (different best friend, not sofie) She made it in time and stopped me mid attempt. Her and her husband came into my apartment. And as I was saying I felt like I was going crazy and having a psychotic break, the door opened on its own and slammed shut. They witnessed it and I cried because I honestly thought I was losing my mind despite the texts.
They tried to get me to leave then and I said no. They told my brother who called me and demanded I pack my things immediately and so my sister came over the next day while I went to work (just one day after the attempt) she didn't tell me until years later but she experienced everything I had. Which now makes sense as to why she helped me pack so freaking fast. I didn't tell her anything, just that I needed to leave and weird things had happened. I packed my things, I left. My parents found out and my dad went into the apartment (he grew up in the thick if it with his grandmother being in the occult) and my dad knew something bad was in that apartment and helped me get everything else out.
My friend came back livid. Our parents are close and her parents were upset with her. Asking why she was messing around with these things. I sat down and had a talk with her. Telling her I was sorry for how things came to light but I didn't really have a say in the matter. I said I'd be dead if my friend hadn't shown up and saved me from my attempt which was what started our family finding out. She looked me in the eye and said "im sorry. But you lived. And now thanks to you, I have to deal with my family finding out." I have never seen her be so emotionless or cold like she was when she said those words to me. I realized then, she did not care.
She blamed it on me. Telling my parents and her parents I was messing with stuff. We are grown adults. Act like it. If this is what you want to do with your life own it. Don't blame it on me as an escape goat because you didn't want to tell you parents you no longer believe in a religion. No one believed her anyway. But still, it hurt. I realized our friendship could never be salvaged. Sofie witnessed this all and cut ties with Alice. Alice bad mouthed me and blamed me. She also forced me to pay for the last months rent because I apparently owed her. (it was that or give it to her mom who didn't have the money) And left with a 10k cleaning and damage fee that I thankfully got the apartment to pin on them. I tried so hard to make Alice see my perspective and how I wasn't blaming her for my attempt or anything but she would shut me out and ignore me. I kept things quiet, tried not to tell our mutual friends what went on. But I found out from them that she blamed me for it all. Told them it was all my fault. That I was controlling and horrible to her when I have text message proof of how abusive she was too me and manipulative. There is so much more, I could make a list of all the things she and her bf did and lied about but for the sake of time, just know, as a people pleaser, this experience killed that. It lefted me jaded and Cynical of everyone. She was like a sister to me... I never thought we would end this way.
So..to the actual point of this post...
2 years have gone by Alice has no contact with me nor I, with her. Me and sofie are best friends. She's heard everything, she's seen the text and been my shoulder to cry on. She decided to move to a bigger city which is far from me but I promise to stay in touch. We do and she gets proposed to by her long term bf and I'm excited for her. We're on the phone talking about dates and dresses when she drops a bombshell on me. She said Alice had moved to Seattle a few months back and reached out to her. They began to hang out and now are close friends. She wants a super small wedding with like 50 people and Alice and Nathan will be coming. If she maintained a friendship with them, I don't think this would have hurt so bad. It's the fact that she cut ties with them on her own terms and told me she never wanted to see Alice's face again. She'd go out if her way to talk crap about them. So I was shocked when she said this.
I immediately began to cry. I didn't mean to. I'm in therapy, I'm doing so much better but the flood of emotions came back and I broke down crying. I felt like Alice got to get away scot free. For the sake of privacy we'll call the friend that is getting married, Sofie and the ex friend, Alice.
This is a long one so I apologize but context it needed to fully understand why I did this. And to be fair, this is an insane experience all together so buckle up. This may be the only unique experience I have and I wish I didn't.
Alice and I have known each other all of our lives. Our parents were close so we grew up together. I saw her much more like a sister to me than a friend and we always looked out for one another. Alice struggled in her teen years with alcohol and getting in to the wrong crowd but she did her best to clean up and change things. In our early twenties we decided to move out together and become roomates. It was me, her, and her longtime boyfriend who I also had a friendship with. We'll call him Nathan. Things were great the first few months. But as time went on we started butting heads. Alice didn't have a job at the time (she did at the time of us signing the lease. I also lost my job before moving in but quickly found whatever I could) Alice kept saying she'd find another job but she never did. Nathan only worked part time at minium wage and out apartment was 1200 a months. So he couldn't afford to pay her half of the rent so I started taking it on and she would pay me back a few weeks later after she managed to sell some clothes or whatever. It got to the point where I was struggling and pulling extra hours of work to keep up. I would come home in the middle of summer where it's 104 out and they have the thermostat at 62 and would get mad at me if I turned it up to 72 because 'it was unbearably hot' our ac bill for our small apartment was insane because of this and granted, I'm the one pretty much paying for most of it.
They would get mad at me for the smallest thing. Guilt me and saying I treated them like children when they were adults. But yeah, I'm gonna be mad if I come home and you left our electric fire place on in the summer because you like the aesthetic and our ac is blasting.
Now, here is where things take a turn and get Weird. Both me and alice are Hispanic and we were both raised religious. Due to our heritage and background, we have both experienced paranormal stuff growing up and within our families. It's not uncommon in Mexican culture to deal with the paranormal. I have some severe ptsd thanks to several past experiences I had as a child that I won't get into. When we moved out we were both religious people. Over the next few months Alice began to deconstruct her faith and wanted to find what she believed which I supported her on that. The one rule I had was not to bring anything or interact with anything paranormal. I did not want that in my apartment and she knows and has witnessed my recovery from my trauma with certain things. She completely agreed. She started exploring things with crystals, Tarot, all of that stuff and I gave her space and let her do her thing.
This is when Sofie came in to our lives. She was an old friend from HS that wanted to reconnect with us and we began hanging out. All of three of us were friends but me and Sofie hung out more. Over the course of the next few months things got weird in our apartment. Lights would flicker occasionally, their cat would meow and hiss at seemingly nothing. We would make jokes and move on. And Because I was working so much and I also had health issues, my mental health began to decline. I have severe depression and have been able to maintain it but due to the stress and my own isolation, It began to worse. Also they never cleaned the apartment unless asked (even tho Alice was home nearly every day) their cat would tear up the carpet. They'd leave dirty dishes all over the kitchen and internet would shut off because they'd forget to pay the internet bill (the only bill they managed on their own) because Nathan didn't believe in checking mail even if they were late notices. He'd toss them all. We'd get into fights and they would tell me how horrible of a friend I was because I had to 'constantly nag them' when they were behind on rent or reminding them we could not afford to have our ac at 62 in the summer.
7 months in and I made the decision to not renew our least together. We both wanted to try and save our friendship in anyway we could so as soon as it was up, we would part ways and I would move in with my brother and SIL and help them out for a bit until I found another place to stay.
Month 10. I was so physically sick, the doctors wasn't sure what was wrong with me. My mental health declined so bad that I began contemplating suicide. I was under so much stress and in debt. They were nearly 2 months behind on rent. But I didn't want us to get evicted and I'm a people pleaser and I wanted these last few months just to get over with. They left for a trip to see a family member for 2 weeks. Taking the cat and leaving me alone in the apartment. I was so happy for the first day. And then that's when everything happened.
Whispers were coming from their room. Like someone was having a conversation. I could never hear what was being said but as soon as I'd get close enough, it would stop. Their lights and lamps would turn on at night. On day 3 I went in and unplugged EVERYTHING to make sure it wasn't on some sort of timer. I guess it didn't like that because at night, the door would open and slam shut, repeatedly. It would do it so hard it shook the walls. Because of my own depression I literally thought I was losing my mind and it was in my head. No way this was happening. Things began to rearrange themselves. I could hear it. Furniture moving, jewelry being moved around, all of it, in their room. I texted Alice making a joke about how her room may be haunted. She replied with "familiar spirits get curious when their owners leave. It's fine"
I asked her to clarify. She pretty much told me she was in contact with something and since they were gone it was just curious and exploring.
I... I really had no words. I felt betrayed and lied too. How hard was it to not bring something into this apartment? To not communicate with things in our house? I should have left then. I didn't. While it stayed in the room, I could feel it. Like it was watching me. I grew paranoid. I didn't tell anyone. Didn't want to make a big fuss I just wanted to leave so I made plans to move out sooner then later.
One day. I just snapped. I don't put blame on her. I should have reached out, let people in and not isolate. I don't think she even knew how bad it was for me. I text my best friend, the one friend I knew doesn't text back for HOURS if not a day before my attempt. (different best friend, not sofie) She made it in time and stopped me mid attempt. Her and her husband came into my apartment. And as I was saying I felt like I was going crazy and having a psychotic break, the door opened on its own and slammed shut. They witnessed it and I cried because I honestly thought I was losing my mind despite the texts.
They tried to get me to leave then and I said no. They told my brother who called me and demanded I pack my things immediately and so my sister came over the next day while I went to work (just one day after the attempt) she didn't tell me until years later but she experienced everything I had. Which now makes sense as to why she helped me pack so freaking fast. I didn't tell her anything, just that I needed to leave and weird things had happened. I packed my things, I left. My parents found out and my dad went into the apartment (he grew up in the thick if it with his grandmother being in the occult) and my dad knew something bad was in that apartment and helped me get everything else out.
My friend came back livid. Our parents are close and her parents were upset with her. Asking why she was messing around with these things. I sat down and had a talk with her. Telling her I was sorry for how things came to light but I didn't really have a say in the matter. I said I'd be dead if my friend hadn't shown up and saved me from my attempt which was what started our family finding out. She looked me in the eye and said "im sorry. But you lived. And now thanks to you, I have to deal with my family finding out." I have never seen her be so emotionless or cold like she was when she said those words to me. I realized then, she did not care.
She blamed it on me. Telling my parents and her parents I was messing with stuff. We are grown adults. Act like it. If this is what you want to do with your life own it. Don't blame it on me as an escape goat because you didn't want to tell you parents you no longer believe in a religion. No one believed her anyway. But still, it hurt. I realized our friendship could never be salvaged. Sofie witnessed this all and cut ties with Alice. Alice bad mouthed me and blamed me. She also forced me to pay for the last months rent because I apparently owed her. (it was that or give it to her mom who didn't have the money) And left with a 10k cleaning and damage fee that I thankfully got the apartment to pin on them. I tried so hard to make Alice see my perspective and how I wasn't blaming her for my attempt or anything but she would shut me out and ignore me. I kept things quiet, tried not to tell our mutual friends what went on. But I found out from them that she blamed me for it all. Told them it was all my fault.
