TLDR: Setting up a planted 45 gallon second hand tank and I have some questions.
My partner works at a school and they just discontinued their marine biology aquarium lab. We were lucky enough to get high quality lights and two tanks, a massive 125 gallon (48ā, 24ā, 25ā) with built in sump connectors and stand and a 45 gallon tank (48ā, 12.75ā, 14ā). Both of these tanks were stored inside and were originally saltwater. We are going to keep the larger tank for when I finish school and we can afford to do a saltwater tank, but I am in the process of building a stand and cleaning the smaller tank to transfer my school of guppies into.
I have heard that structural integrity of tanks is something I should watch out for with second hand tanks and wanted to get some advice on what to check for.
I have had aquariums for most of my life, but have only recently been researching and educating myself on plants, nutrients, and creating semi self sufficient aquariums. I have had success with my smaller 10 gallon planted tank.
In the new 45 gallon tank I am planning on doing a substrate of fluval stratum (in bio bags), a layer of pea pebble to give height, and sand on top. (I was planning on using lava rock instead of pea pebbles but the store only had larger rocks of it and I assumed it would be too large.)
Iām not set on stocking but I plan on having good assortment of plants. After everything gets a chance to settle in and bio-load and bacteria are established I do also want to have a pothos feeding off the aquarium, since I love the look of their roots in aquariums.
I am in no means an expert, but I do have some base knowledge on planted aquariums. Nonetheless I wanted to get some advice or helpful tips on the massive project I am about to embark on.
Questions: 1. Should I be worried about the structural integrity of my tank? 2. What is the best way to ensure leftover salt is cleaned and removed from the tank? 3. How do I ensure snails from my previous tank donāt follow my plants into the new tank or how do I kill them? (assassin snails and personally removing them have failed) 4. Am I crazy and are any of my plans incorrect?

I need urgent help. I've upgraded my old system to an ASRock B650 Pro RS Mobo, Gskill Trident Neo Z5 2x16 RAM and Ryzen 5 7600 CPU.
I'm not well informed in PC building so I took it to my local PC repair shop. Although the Windows located in the SSD wasn't detected for some reason, we had to to a clean install and it started working. Right after that he went into the BIOS to adjust the XMP profile settings for the new RAM. However, after upping the DRAM frequency PC shut down and didn't boot for a few seconds. After going back to the BIOS menu, he decreased it more but this time the PC didn't boot up at all, despite clearly having power (fans were spinning, ram and gpu RGB was working).
He tried a few methods such as taking out the CMOS pill and putting it back, inserting a single slot of RAM, but nothing has worked. He said the RAM might be damaged, which was a shock to me because there weren't any warnings whatsoever on the BIOS menu before adjusting dram frequency. He said I have to buy a new pair of RAM if the higher frequency somehow killed it. He said he'll look more into it overnight and send it to another PC technician that specializes in motherboards. I'm in an absolute dread please give me any tips regarding what to do, I truly hope it's not a hardware problem, I can't afford not having a PC right now and currently don't have enough money for a new pair of RAM, I literally bought these last week.

Tl; DR:
New DDR5 RAM inserted on a new b650 Mobo
Upped dram frequency after fresh windows install
Don't work and throw me into the BIOS menu.
Decreased the dram this time but the PC won't boot up. The red light on Mobo next to the RAM slot keeps turning on and there is no display despite the gpu and CPU fans are working
Took out the CMOS battery, single stick of RAM and tried rebooting it, nothing worked
PC repair guy says RAM might be damaged, says PC will stay there overnight and if he can't fix it he'll send it to a motherboard expert.

I could really use the advice of the sysadmin community on the next steps for hiring someone to help clean up an IT environment that is the result of multiple decades of organic growth and management by the same solo IT person, a person whose IT knowledge and curiosity peaked a long time ago.
Anyway, my situation is as follows. I was originally going to write an even longer history of our IT situation, and would be happy too if people are interested, but here is the gist of my situation. I'm sorry if anything is a bit disjointed, but I'm trying to refrain from writing a case study.
I have worked for the last 15 years at my family's business, and Harry has been managing our IT for the last 40 years. Harry was one of my father's first employees, had gone to school for music-related majors, took a non-IT job at a new manufacturing and retail company, then became our IT person as we developed IT needs.
Fast forward after a few decades of organic IT growth with Harry reporting to our prior CFO for the last 20 years (a CFO who was territorial, unpleasant to work with, and terrible with technology), and the state of our current IT environment is bad. I believe that is mainly due to a horrible combination of Harry not doing a great job at anything IT-related, and being our sole IT person, and having a tech-illiterate CFO managing Harry. Our CFO would also occasionally find small-time/hacky consultants to work with, but never wanted to listen to my input. After a few years of being at the company, I suggested we needed a ticketing system, but our CFO wanted to keep managing projects using a Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet...
After our CFO retired, we brought in a new CFO, and she came with a referral to an MSP her husband had used at the company he was at. That company had sold to a larger holding company since the CFO's husband started using the MSP, one that seemed to mess around in the crypto space, and I thought the lead was bad (based on a variety of things I saw). Over the last 15 years, a large part of my job has been doing due diligence on vendors, software solutions, web developers, and various agencies. Regardless, we spent a few months doing due diligence and a paid audit with that MSP. By the end of the audit, we decided not to move forward with that MSP.
In addition, our company decided Harry should start reporting to me rather than our new CFO. I have 15 years of experience at the company overseeing all of our internet properties, digital marketing, and was kind of a third wheel of the IT department when I first started at the company. I went to undergrad for Management Information Systems, have a graduate business degree, and basically consider myself an IT person who isn't pursuing an IT career. I know our internal companies well, what our users do and don't need, and understand the costs and opportunity costs to bringing (or not bringing) in new systems and technology.
I have also been tinkering with computers and technology for almost three decades. I build my own computers, built my own NAS running Unraid, run updates on our VMware-based servers, can read and modify code, wired my own home with CAT 6, had a brief stint as a Sharepoint developer, moved 100+ employees from our original POP3 email system to Google Workspace (when I started at the company), set up a UniFi-based dedicated WiFi and surveillance network, specced out and racked our new Dell servers, and have helped replace and migrate dozens of our users off of old Windows 7 machines. I also have personally undertaken onboarding our endpoints in NinjaOne, installing Defender for Endpoint, and bringing our various Fortigate firewalls up to date. My point here is that while I am not a Sysadmin myself (and definitely am not suggesting I'm an expert at ANY of those things), and definitely don't have depth when it comes to Active Directory, Azure, etc., I am a bit of a jack of all trades IT person, and am very well-suited to work with a real Sysadmin. For almost everything I do, I either find what the best practice is, know that I or we aren't meeting best practices, or will happily let our team/company know when I can't expertly speak to something.
With that backstory out of the way, here are a few extra points:
Whenever I read through posts and replies on this subreddit, I see people who provide good answers (or who are smart enough to come to this subreddit to seek advice), and I think to myself how I'd like to work with someone like that. I don't know if that seems weird or like a low bar, but right now I'm used to working with Harry, and he definitely doesn't know about this Subreddit, struggles to use Google Meet, isn't big into 2FA.

- Harry basically works half the week, has health issues, wants to retire in a year or two, and I can't count on him to come up with any new or current solutions. Harry has been loyal to the company, and I consider him a friend, and there is still work and value he can add until he is ready to retire. That said, he is our "IT Director", but whoever we hire will not be reporting to Harry. I will figure out the structural and human/social aspects of not having our new hire feel bad having to comment on things Harry has or hasn't done, as well as figuring out work Harry can do a good job on that won't create extra work. I expect I would probably have Harry do work on the legacy ERP system he has helped support, which is something I don't expect our new hire to have much to do with.
- There will probably be some people out there who feel there has been mismanagement, that Harry sounds incompetent, that we were understaffed, or that the ex-CFO did a bad job, etc. Most of that is probably true, but that is the past. As someone who generally knows a fair amount about IT, I HAVE known that our IT situation isn't great, but as I said, the situation is complicated.
- Our current IT environment is a bit of a mess. We are just now finishing up replacing remaining Windows 7 machines, have a brand new ESXi cluster (set up pre-Broadcom acquisition) but have to set up a few new virtual machines to replace Server 2012 R2 (or worse) virtual machines, have to remove local admin privileges from almost all of our users (this is decades in the making), and have loads of best practices and management systems I'd like to see us have in place. There are way more projects than just this, but this is just a sampling. Outside of lots of overdue overhaul, I don't think we have a tremendous amount of break/fix at the company.
- I am so understaffed right now with my original responsibilities at the company, basically being our main new IT person, and trying to plan for our next major ERP systems. I don't have enough hours in the day and am killing myself emotionally. I need to hire someone full-time, but I need advice on if that job title should be a Sysadmin, and how I should go about presenting this opportunity. I am NOT expecting whoever we hire to be an expert in everything, which is a common complaint I've seen in sysadmin. I would like to strategically hire partners (or continue to work with a person or two we already work with) when it comes to things like firewall expertise. Our new hire would work directly with me to start overhauling our IT systems as needed. I have no expectations someone can come in and clean everything up in weeks or months, but I'd like to find someone talented who will seek out right-sized, best-practice-based solutions and systems, and work with me to transform an IT environment that was basically built under one person's watch. When hiring for the position, I'd like to be upfront that there is initially going to be a lot of project work required.
- I have been looking through sysadmin for probably the last two years, and I often seem complaints about management not getting IT, managers being too frugal, etc. While our IT situation is messier than I would like to bring someone into, I feel confident I can give whoever we hire a collegial, bureaucracy-free environment. I am practical, am great at knowing what I do and don't know, understand project management (I'm used to working on year-long projects), and am very familiar with the common joke about "anything that plugs into the wall being IT". While the job I'm looking to hire for won't be turn-key, my goal and plan is to hire someone who won't be expected to know everything or work all the time, and that as we continue to improve our systems, that it won't need to be a rigorous IT job. I am planning to work closely with whoever we hire, will help cover any non-business-hours issues, etc. I love the idea of someone smart coming in, helping whip things into shape, and developing the job into a cushy one. I am willing to pay for someone talented, and one of my highest priorities will be to provide a great work environment.
- In my original post, I mentioned that our IT situation has been complicated. By that I mean Harry transitioning into an IT role decades ago, bad managementāespecially by our prior CFO, a lack of awareness on how bad the IT situation wasāfrom Harry himself, as well as management. I need urgent help. I've upgraded my old system to an ASRock B650 Pro RS Mobo, Gskill Trident Neo Z5 2x16 RAM and Ryzen 5 7600 CPU.
I'm not well informed in PC building so I took it to my local PC repair shop. Although the Windows located in the SSD wasn't detected for some reason, we had to to a clean install and it started working. Right after that he went into the BIOS to adjust the XMP profile settings for the new RAM. However, after upping the DRAM frequency PC shut down and didn't boot for a few seconds. After going back to the BIOS menu, he decreased it more but this time the PC didn't boot up at all, despite clearly having power (fans were spinning, ram and gpu RGB was working).
He tried a few methods such as taking out the CMOS pill and putting it back, inserting a single slot of RAM, but nothing has worked. He said the RAM might be damaged, which was a shock to me because there weren't any warnings whatsoever on the BIOS menu before adjusting dram frequency. He said I have to buy a new pair of RAM if the higher frequency somehow killed it. He said he'll look more into it overnight and send it to another PC technician that specializes in motherboards. I'm in an absolute dread please give me any tips regarding what to do, I truly hope it's not a hardware problem, I can't afford not having a PC right now and currently don't have enough money for a new pair of RAM, I literally bought these last week.

Itās crow nesting and fledging season! A fledgling is a young bird that has just left the nest, and is not yet a fully grown adult.
Iāve seen several posts in this subreddit recently showing concern over a fledgling crow and wondering if itās injured or how to help it, thinking it might be an adult crow in trouble. All very well meaning, and canāt blame anyone for wanting to help! However, fledglings are usually doing just fine and do not need human intervention, even if they look a little silly and clumsy.
Hereās how to recognize a crow fledgling (non conclusive list, and sometimes they donāt have all of these features but itās a great place to start):
The general rule of thumb is, if you see a fledgling, leave it alone. It is being cared for and watched by adults - even if you canāt see the adults yourself - and is in an important stage of its development into a full grown adult. It is not recommended to directly feed a fledgling as theyāre still very young and may have different tolerances to certain food; adult crows will feed it and hydrate it appropriately.
If it is a particularly hot day, it might be nice to leave a dish of water out. (However there is no need to try and directly hydrate the fledgling, it will either drink it itself or the adults will use it to soak food to feed to it).
The caveat to putting out water is to check if bird flu is spreading in your area. If thatās the case, it may be risky to do this, and definitely follow your local guidelines (some places will recommend against birdfeeders and water dishes).
If you do put out water, you need to very frequently wash the dish with soap and change the water. (Probably a good idea to do this regardless of if bird flu is an issue, as standing water can spread disease between animals fairly easily).
When is it OK to intervene?
Occasionally, a fledgling IS in need of help.
A fledgling outside the nest is normal, a nestling outside is not. Nestlings look far more like what we see in our heads when we think of baby birds - theyāll look quite naked (fledglings on the other hand have full bodies of fluff/new feathers) and quite a bit smaller. If you see a nestling out of the nest, it may have fallen. If it doesnāt look visibly injured (blood/broken bones), try and find the nest nearby and put it back. The myth about birds abandoning their babies if a human touches it is false.
Occasionally, crows (and other birds) will deliberately push a nestling out of the nest. This seems cruel on the surface, but sometimes they do this if they sense the nestling is very sick or something about it might compromise the wellbeing of the rest of the babies. This is pretty rare though, so unless you see a nestling that is visibly sick or injured, definitely go the route of trying to put it back.
If you canāt seem to find the nest, a good bet (if you have the time) is to stay nearby but out of the way of the area. Adult crows will fly in and out of their nests periodically as they take turns taking care of the babies and going out to find food or to keep watch. You can probably spot the nest by keeping an eye out for an adult coming back and maybe disappearing into tree foliage.
Next steps
In the chance that you: - find a nestling thatās either injured/sick, or you absolutely cannot find the nest it fell from - find a fledgling thatās obviously injured or abandoned

Try and wear a hat or hold an umbrella if theyāre swooping at you. In the future, to prevent crow grudges, just offer the adults unsalted peanuts or something healthy for crows to regain their trust. (This may take a few tries, but crows do learn and adjust their opinions on people).
Keep an eye on the nestling/fledgling that needs help, and if appropriate, very gently pick it up and keep it in a quiet, dark space (like a well ventilated cardboard box). Try not to touch it or interact with it very much, because itās very stressful for young birds to be handled by humans, even with the best intentions, and itās easy to accidentally injure them further. Just keep it safe until a professional can care for it.

- If it seems abandoned (if no adults return for a LONG time - many hours or a full day or night), I would also call a rehab centre first and keep an eye on it. Keep in mind that it is normal for adults to leave fledglings alone in a spot for some time during its maturation, and just because you donāt see an adult doesnāt mean itās abandoned. Furthermore, adult birds sometimes donāt approach their fledglings if thereās a human nearby, so give it some space and observe from a good distance if necessary.

Also the satelites sound exciting, not data but accessing the satelite repeaters and eventually talking to ISS (I understand that it is very low probability that an astrounaut will actually be free and available for contact at the exact small window of time in which I reach the ISS but still fascinating even with low probability)
What does not seem a direction I would like to take is CW i do not believe I can ever learn it. Or at least I do not believe I can enjoy learning it.
(That said I could be interested in any options for software code decode morese from to text not sure if such exist )

Seems like 991 or 7100 would be the logical choices as they offer widest rande of bands / modes but my concerns is both are older models compared to the ftdx 10 which seems to have much better user experience in anvigating and accessing of all the menues and settings.
There is also the matter of d-star and fusion... Maybe orher standards too... None of the radios above have dmr if I am not mistaken? So I probably need to get one to listen on dmr repeaters?
Yeah I am really uncertain what to buy so that I won't regret after a while. And be in a situation where I would be saying: 'I wish I bouth rhis other radio because of this or that...'

I hear a lot of times this question is followed by many comments asking for clarificarion, what the person wants to do with the radio so I will also provide some context in advance.
I am new to the hobby literally just got the eamil I have passed my exam.
So now I need to chose my callsign and... ...buy some gear.
Just to start with a bit of context.
What got me into the hobby is my Malahit SDP2 (the chinese version with the russian software) I got one of those receivers earlier this year and found it absolutley fascinating that I can hear signals transmitted thousands of kilometers away I love the waterfall. Essentially, I would like to pay someone to take these 5-7 different photos, use whatever photo editing skills or software to identify the edits. I have confirmed there are edits by using Markup on Mac, and adjusting various details like Exposure, Contrast, etc..But it does not suffice.
The final ideal outcome is a un-deniable evidence of photo edits, clearly showed via your software or editing skills.

So Iām going to play 2 events in WSOP this year. One of them is Mystery Million, other I have not decided yet.
About me- Iām actually a recreational player who mostly plays cash games online. I have a full time job in quant Econ research and poker is more like of a hobby.
I have never played poker live apart from playing against my friends in home games. I wanted to go to WSOP, experience what is it like. I had a few questions-
These questions might sound very stupid & naive but donāt judge me please.
1) Iām not an American national. What proof of identity I need? I donāt want to carry my passport with me all the time (I once lost it in the past). Any other ID of my country works?
2) Once you finish the day, you take the chips with you home or you have to give them to casino officials & collect the next day?
3) Is it okay to ask for your opponentsā stack size? Or is it your job to keep track? Can they refuse to tell the stack size?
3) I know throwing one chip means call. But if I have to re raise an initial bet of 1000 to letās say 4500, do I have to say it out loud that Iām raising to 4500 or itās the dealer or opponents job to check it?
4) Is it cold inside the poker room? Do I need a jacket or sth? Every time I see people play itās like theyāre playing in a very cold place.
5) Any other tips you may want to give except fold pre?
6) Anyone whoās gonna be there wants to hang out hmu.

I know it's not the first time they've promoted gambling while the game is going on but it's still shocking. It's one thing to see it on a jersey, on the floor or in a commercial between the games... but seeing it during the game from Kenny and Charles just makes me so sick to my stomach.

The youngins' don't know what they're missing. So much hype comes out of those player intros. You get pumped up and they're incredibly important for the fans at home to get into the game. So many fun memories have been created because of the player intros. Jordan and Alan Parsons Project, Heatles and Seven Nation Army, Pistons and The Final Countdown are permanently linked for a lot of people.
