if anyone is interested, my last post on here was just me pointing out the symbolism w/ daryls wings/vest so i decided i would like to point out some more or you could add your own if you would like! (idk if any of this is rlly cannon but the creative writer in me just wants to share)

• the use of storm imagery/metaphors when referring to the whisperers. i think its really something i noticed recently but its super cool to me how the whisperers themselves appear together like storm clouds do in the sky, they bunch together and you just know something bad is going to happen or something is coming when you see them. also how they named the episodes “The Calm Before” and then “The Storm” in season 10 (or 9, my memory is a bit foggy sorry)
  
• the trauma bond between daryl and michonne is something that i dont see talked about much! this could go for many scenarios (the throat biting scene, the governor, glenn and abe) but im mainly referring to when jocelyn kidnapped the alexandrian kids and then branded daryl and michonne. i know its not really something to be noticed but i just think it really emphasized how daryl and michonne became eachothers wing-man after rick’s “death”
  
• abraham. literally his whole character to me is tragic. he had one goal and one reason for living (getting eugene to D.C.) and it all turned out to be a lie. and just as he found a purpose and a reason to go on, he gets bashed in. it was just very upsetting to see him explode after eugene’s lie was revealed, not because i cared about eugene being punched (idgaf lol) but because you could tell he felt like he was outside that supermarket with that gun in his mouth again.
  
• carol will always be a mother. i know that every child she cares for ends up dying, but she has always been the mother for the entire group. she has saved them so many times no matter the circumstances. its almost like shes destined to be the one who brings them togetheprotect them (i know rick also has that job and was called mother goose but they are both mother geese)
  
• shane’s death. i know this show has a lot of deaths but shane’s was one that changed the entire story. there are still remnants of him sprinkled throughout the later seasons but just in less obvious ways then “i had a best friend” and rick’s hallucinations. anytime rick has killed/hurt (the red machete, biting out joes jugular, the saviors in that dive bar, beating the hell out of pete, etc) he has a certain look in his eyes. his signature head tilt, the squint when he looks at his next kill, the deep breath in. the first time we see this is when he and shane were out in the woods together.

Recently patch 8.09 was just released and we had the typical change to the game's main screen (menu).
Not counting the Beta, in short, Valorant's menu screens have always been well-made and interesting in my opinion. When you open the game and see that the screen has changed, and it's new artwork or original animation, you feel the "vibe" it wants to convey and clearly defines the moment of the player's time in the game.
Many people have a certain nostalgia for old screens and musical themes that were in past episodes.
But opening the game in the last update and the menu screen that Riot chose was just a GIF lasting less than 1 minute showing just the Masters trophy, then a strange zoom in on the hole in the middle of the trophy and then... It's over.
I swore that when the zoom reached the center of the cup, there would be a cool transition to the last cinematic they released for the Shanghai Masters, which looked really cool, but no, when the zoom reaches the end... There's only one simple fade out effect and then go back to the beginning and stay like that over and over lmao.
In past masters, they also focused on showing just the cup, but there was a much more elaborate animation made in 3D. There's nothing here, you can't even understand what vibe they wanted to convey with this, why focus on the central hole in the cup? Yeah, it's Iso's symbol, and? It looks like a newbie animation intern did this.
I know there will probably be another screen when the tournament is taking place, but this pre-tournament one was pretty weak, doesn't give me any ideas about what to expect from the Masters, doesn't invite me to watch, just makes me look at a random trophy
It's not a big deal, but I felt like it was worth just talking about it because it was pretty underwhelming, at least by Riot standards fr.

Let me share my 3000h of modded wisdom with you, my fellow vanilla comrades. My attempt here is to provide you with as many as possible improvements to the base game while keeping the style, balance, and content as vanilla as possible. As they say, when it works the best is when you don't realize it is there. I guarantee you that after playing a few dozen hours with these, you will no longer be able to tell what's vanilla and what's not.
I decided to cut my recommendations onto different types of lists, so it's easier for you. The most purists players can stick with QoL only. Or, even if you're a psychopath purist who doesn't any QoL improvement, you can still use the performance list.
Mandatory mods: Harmony and Huglibs. Something, something, libraries. They do nothing on their own, but most mods require them. While fewer, a lot of mods also require Vanilla Framework Expanded. And this one actually does cool things on its own, like automatically loading new factions without having to start a new game, so I would recommend subscribing to that one as well.
Performance

• Dub performance analyzer. Enable the optimizations and override options, you can ignore everything else. If you want to disable alerts, use rocketman.
• Rocketman. By default, it should be good enough. This mod also allows to disable alerts you may don't care about, like, dunno, tattered apparel or unhappy nudity. It is recommended to run adaptive move occasionally (in stat cache settings).
• Performance Optimizer. More hacker magic. If you don't like the UI changes, you can disable them in the options. This mod does more performance stuff aside from that, so use it anyway!
• Performance Fish. You will have to install this mod manually, since it's not available in the workshop. You will also need to install its dependencies, Fishery and Prepatcher. Please, be aware that at the present there's an issue in which linking storage crashes the game. However, this is solved by disabling "TryFindBestBetterStoreCellFor" in the options.

Quality of life

• Optimization Meats. Unless you really want dozens of different meat types for some weird role-play reason, this mod reduces meat micromanagement. It can also improve performance a bit.

I've been to London a few times in my life and I felt that I could relate to his experience (which isn't exactly a positive one) and it surprised me that even on camera it captured the misery that I felt there, is London really generally that miserable?
He must really hate going to London or at least be super confused by it. He's just a regular bloke, he is generally friendly even to strangers by trying to say good morning to people and every single miserable sod that walked by just ignored him. Then when trying to explain he's a farmer and isn't used to the "traditions" gets shot down by the same fat imbecile that threatened to throw him out. Even Jeremy on the final scene of the final episode mentioned how much he was dreading that he had to go there.
London really is like a world of its own compared to most other places I've been in the UK, it could stand to learn a few things from its Northern neighbours! I've never really enjoyed going there, some cool sights but that's about it. Not that everywhere is happy and dandy elsewhere, but people would at least say good morning!

The girls stared open-mouthed, cookies momentarily forgotten. A hatch appeared in the side of the ship. Light spilled out, glowing an ethereal blue. Then towering figures emerged, moving with an inhuman grace.

Tammy squeaked and clung to Jenna's arm. But Jenna's mind was racing. This was an incredible opportunity, too good to pass up. She flashed the others a mischievous smile. "Come on, girls. Let's go make some sales!"

Undeterred, Jenna beamed and proudly presented her box of Thin Mints. "Cookies!" she enunciated clearly. "Would you like to buy some cookies?" To her astonishment, a glowing rectangle like a computer screen lit up on the tall one's torso. Words scrolled across it in crisp English letters.

I wrote this as a reply but it basically turned into a little essay, so I figured I might as well post it.
Here's a (not so) brief rundown of the changes between the final cut, director's cut, and theatrical cut. We start with the final cut, the current version that most people have seen, then compare it with the directors cut and theatrical cut which most people probably haven't seen if they watched the movie on streaming or bought the standard edition blu ray.
Final cut:
They added cgi effects to make the eye reflections more obvious and appear in more scenes. It looks good, but it's used so frequently it becomes borderline distracting. It's no longer a subtle hint from a unique in camera photographic technique. It's hitting you over the head with brightly glowing eyes on deckard and all the replicants. I think you'll get something different from the original versions of these scenes.
Most of the added cgi is 2d digital matte paintings replacing the traditional matte paintings. They all have that hazy 2006 edge feathered compositing look, and in my opinion it's worse than seeing the matte lines or a slight difference in color compared to the surrounding scenery.
One of the biggest changes is a 2d animated matte in the final shot where Batty releases the dove. In the theatrical and directors cut, the dove flies off into a patch of blue sky. It's the only moment in the whole film with a blue sky, and it's perfect symbolism. It doesn't need to have perfect continuity.
Apparently Ridley Scott was always frustrated that it didn't match the grey skies. In the new shot, the dove is shrunk down and composited into a large animated matte painting with skyscrapers, smokestacks, and glowing signs that don't match with the backdrops seen throughout the fight scene on the roof.
Whether he got the shot he wanted or not, the original shot worked and clearly conveyed the emotion.
That's why I like the directors cut more than the final cut. You get all the extra content and editing improvements, but all the visuals are authentic to the original shoot and post production visual effects.
There are also some odd overdubs and line rewrites in the final cut that don't add anything in my opinion. For example, when Batty comes face to face with Tyrell, the original line is
"I want more life, fucker"
and it is replaced with "I want more life, father"
I think the original dialogue hits harder and in a way, it conveys the same meaning of "father" with deeper symbolism. The act of creating life is in a sense a destructive act because it leads to the inevitability of death.

Directors cut:
Compared to the theatrical cut, the directors cut is extended by a decent amount. But whereas the final cut prioritizes including as much material as possible, the directors cut prioritizes pacing and momentum.
The final cut often adds an extra shot or two that seems to break up the momentum of a sequence. For example, Pris slowly sticking her fingers into Deckard's nose is only in the final cut. it's interesting and visceral, but do we really think Deckard would hold still for that? (haha)
The directors cut represents Scott's original vision for the film, prior to the studio mandated reshoots and edits. I consider this to be the definitive version.
The directors cut loses the narration and the extended theatrical ending that was mandated by the studio.

Theatrical cut:
The theatrical cut is shorter, faster paced, and the violence is toned down a bit in some scenes.
It has the added film noir narration, which I enjoy because it adds a lot of detail about the world. For example, it specifically highlights the cityspeak language, and the ecological devastation of climate change. Harrison Ford's voice is dripping with contempt and absolutely flat. Supposedly he was trying to sabotage the voiceover, but it comes out sounding just like a cool early 50's b-grade film noir. That hardboiled pulpy gritty vibe works. It reinforces the traditional film noir archetypes and imagery, grounding it in a context that makes a very exotic world a bit more familiar.
And the biggest difference in the theatrical cut is the ending. Instead of cutting to black as Deckard and Rachel flee the apartment, there is a voiceover from Deckard explaining the message that Gaz has sent him with the origami unicorn.
After they leave the aparment, we see Rachel and Deckard in a spinner together, driving through the country on a two lane highway surrounded by pine trees. This is the only time we see trees in the original film.
Instead of total ambiguity not knowing if Rachel and Deckard will live, we know they escaped, even if it's just for a short time before they get caught.

Connection to 2049:
I thought it was genius the way 2049 incorporated the imagery of the tree as a clear reference Deckard and Rachel escaping and starting a life together in the country. The tree also acts as the symbol of heredity and the family tree, as opposed to the artificial creation of Wallace's replicants.
