They lasted just barely over 3 months...
After having my Platinums for over 4 years I finally made the jump on a new gaming headset and opted for the Pulse Elites mostly due to the Planar Magnetic drivers, dual Bluetooth, increased battery life, and ai noise suppression. The other night after placing them on my ears for some late night Stellar Blade action, I felt a sudden change in pressure on the ear cups and promptly removed them to find a hairline crack all the way through the uni-frame band.
I've already accepted the fact that people will automatically doubt it, but I really do try to take VERY GOOD CARE of all my headphones. I own multiple pairs ranging from Sony MDR-XB950s to Ultrasone HFI-2400s to Sennheisers to Audio Technicas amongst a number of other headsets. I've had 0 issues with any of them.
With this particular headset, I always carefully lifted it off my ears roughly a half inch followed by carefully sliding it backwards to get it off my head without over stretching the frame. I wiped down the pads and band after use to try and preserve the materials. I carefully set them down on my coffee table after use and charge them laying flat in an upright position.
Is it even worth pursuing the Sony warranty? I'm absolutely bummed out after making it 4 years with my Platinums and finally jumping on a new dedicated pair of headphones (and I really liked all the features of this headset) and to have them break like this seemingly out of nowhere is absolutely baffling to me. Ive managed to do a proper DIY repair job with white electric tape but due to the band separating both externally and internally by the secondary adjustment band, it looks shoddy and frankly it just sucks having to deal with this after dropping $150 on them not even 3 months after purchase.
Has anyone else had any similar issues or has any better repair route options/ideas that have worked for them? Does anyone have any experience in regards to the outcome of pursuing warranty repair with any of the Pulse headsets?

Is someone able to help with CMD 'powercfg' commands? My computer will not go to sleep and I think it's due to this driver..
Good afternoon!
I've recently noticed that my computer will not go to sleep. After doing some digging, I found the culprit is a Realtek High Definition Audio driver.
I was able to perform a -requestoverride but the driver is still showing in my -requests? I would think that the override would prevent it from showing?
Does anyone have any experience with this command to confirm that I've done it correctly?

I just reinstalled windows on this PC to troubleshoot this issue, so right now im dealing with a 100% stock PC with nothing more than a few programs and its required drivers. While installing a game and listening to music i noticed that when my CPU spikes from its typical 4%-15% to 30% or higher, the audio becomes distorted and even drops out. If my CPU hits 50%, i lose all audio and my Corsair Void Wireless headphones go nuts and usually beep a bunch of times as if they cant connect until i get back to below 30%. I read some old posts from 2022 that say this could be a result of Realtek Audio Drivers conflicting with windows in some way but im not too sure if that would be relevant in 2025.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

2024.05.15 16:45 Typical-killer Spatial audio for hyper x

Im new to linux (mint) , is there a app for hyperx or driver / spatial audio app.
Because without it my headsets suck, i have them 100% volume and barely hear the video / game ( this is same for windows ) but when the app is running (or spatial audio is enabled ) then finally headphones start to work ( never have to go above 30% volume )
But since linux doesn’t have the app is there any alternatives or something i can do?
Again I’m new, so please provide me instructions like I’m a child.

2024.05.15 15:30 EXLmino İ need help with my new pc setup that has problems with sound

Cpu: Amd Ryzen 5 5600
Gpu: INNO3D 4060ti Twin x2
Ssd: Kc3000 1Tb
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550Gaming X v2 rev1.3
Ram: Gskill 2x8 3200Mhz
Windows 11
I assembled my system about 1.5 months ago, and initially there were no issues. However, later on, while playing games, the sounds on my computer started stuttering. Subsequently, I experienced freezes while playing certain games. Once, when I tried to Alt-Tab the computer completely froze, the sound from my headphones started looping, and the issue persisted until I shut down the computer. I encountered blue screens of death (BSOD) several times, and sometimes it would crash with a blue screen while booting up. Initially, I thought it might be a software issue, so I formatted the system about five times. However, no matter what I did, I couldn't fix the problem. Later, I noticed that the more audio sources were open (such as music, Discord, or in-game sound), the more frequent the freezes and sound disruptions became. Afterwards, I tried playing 'Brotato' (the game where I experience the most freezes) with three different music tracks playing simultaneously, and I noticed an increase in freeze frequency.
Note:
Temperature tests have been conducted on the CPU and GPU.
SSD tests have been performed.
Kingston's SSD health test has been conducted.
No issues were detected in these tests.
Audio driver uninstalled with ddu then i installed it from my motherboards website.
What could be the cause of my problem?
How can I fix it?

2024.05.15 15:27 toro228 Wireless headset random audio disconnect

I just recently bought the Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT for my PC. This is my second pair because I thought I had a faulty headset. Randomly, the audio for this headset will seem to disconnect and reconnect immediately. I looked up some trouble shooting steps and this what I have done so far.
-Tried several USB ports. Tried my 2 3.0 ports on the front and various USB ports on the back of the PC and same issue
-Tried the typical Corsair Reset of the headset
Anyone else got any advice on what else I can try? I really like this headset and do not wanna go back to wired but I may have to at this point.

2024.05.15 13:46 De-Influenced Video Playback Laggy

Hey guys! I'm desperate for answers, I've googled and feels like tried everything. The video playback is all of a sudden playing back frame by frame it looks! I have an ASUS gaming laptop (can get more details if needed)
I'm a YouTuber with longer form content but I try to best not to let the vids big down my storage. So that's all taken care of and I've further cleaned up there.
Windows and driver is up to date.
I use wondershare filmora, also recently updated. I was thinking maybe the software needs a patch but even watching the MKV files on my computer is Laggy, (I also tried converting to MP4) however, a tiktok I downloaded wasn't Laggy?
It's ONLY the video playback that is lagging, even in my editing software I can go in and edit, it'll play and the audio is fine, it's the video that almost seems to be going frame by frame 😭😭
This is super all of a sudden. I was literally editing this weekend and it was fine!
Thanks for any help and insight! Any advice that is deeper than 1. Reset your computer fully or 2. Chuck it in front of a bus. Will need to be broken down step by step 🤣💖

2024.05.15 12:39 RickSanchez3996 VinFast partners with Sony. Why does it matter?

This news fueled a surge in VFS's stock price on Monday, with more than 11 million shares already traded in the session.
The car industry is shifting gears faster. We're talking software, internet connections, and electric vehicles everywhere. McKinsey says nearly all new cars will be online by 2030, some even driving themselves.
In McKinsey’s 2023 survey, 55 percent of auto executives ranked connected cars as one of the top two trends shaping the future of mobility (second only to electrification). Customers, too, are increasingly excited.
“The entire automotive world is undergoing a huge transformation. Improved autonomous driving capabilities could see the car becoming a second living room. And just like your first living room, you’ll want to listen to your favorite music or watch your favorite videos.”
- Benjamin Bastians, IoT Sales Leader for Automotive & International at Deutsche Telekom
“What we’ve seen is the consumerization of the vehicle. Consumers are increasingly looking at vehicles like their smartphones. They expect their vehicles to keep up with their lifestyles, get regular updates, support the apps they use, and give them the same entertainment options.”
- A Director of Engineering and Director of Software Product Line at a multinational audio manufacturer cited in a report by Dolby
Getting this to work requires teamwork between different companies. That's why VinFast is making waves by being the first to offer Sony Pictures' new streaming service, RIDEVU, in their VF 8 electric car in the US.
RIDEVU will be included as a complimentary service in the VF Connect Prime package. US owners of the VF 8 who register for the service will receive access to RIDEVU with the over-the-air (OTA) software update version 9.6.1.11.
Developed by Sony Pictures, RIDEVU provides customers with access to a selection of over 2,000 movies. For 12 months, users can enjoy RIDEVU's library of regularly updated titles, with unlimited replays of up to 100 movies. Customers can also access premium titles by redeeming credits, purchasing, or renting directly through the app.
It highlights a two-way exchange of benefits:
"Sony Pictures is excited to be working with VinFast for the debut of the RIDEVU service. We are confident that RIDEVU will redefine video entertainment for the automotive industry, beginning with a best-in-class experience for VinFast drivers and passengers."

2024.05.15 12:28 Imaginary_Owl8552 My unoccupied vehicle was hit in a parking lot (Missouri), and I was not notified

I am in the state of Missouri.
My (37F) unoccupied vehicle Black, mid size SUV) was parked in a sport club parking lot on Saturday morning while I was at practice. When my practice was finished, I got in my car and drove home.
Later that day, a friend pointed out damage to my driver side tail light. I was certain it had not been there before Saturday.
I reached out to the club (at which I am a member) where my vehicle was parked, knowing they had recently installed security cameras. By late Saturday night, they reviewed the footage, and communicated that one camera caught the accident and aftermath (further from my vehicle), and one caught the audio of the accident and aftermath (nearer to my vehicle). There were multiple witnesses, and a clear shot of the license plate of the vehicle that hit me. I provided my email address so that he could share the footage with me.
On Sunday morning, upon further inspection to my car, I discovered damage to my bumper on the driver side, a decent-sized white scrape through my paint. I reviewed the footage myself, and the location and color of the scrape are consistent with the mechanism of the accident and color of the vehicle that hit me.
The footage captures me in the parking lot as well (everything is time stamped on the video). The parking lot was chaotic due to an unrelated event in the park. I stood in the parking lot for a few minutes before approaching my car to leave. Many other adults with whom I train can also be seen/heard in the parking lot footage. People were turning their cars around at the end on the lot past where my car was parked because the lot was full.
Long after I had left, two people (who I now know as the driver’s mother and brother) appear at the location. They have a conversation with the driver of the car that hit me. She had been sitting in her car in the lot, waiting for them to arrive.
On Sunday afternoon, I filed a police report in person with the municipality in which my vehicle was hit. I explained that I thought the driver of the car was young, the parking lot was chaotic, and at that time, I wasn’t interested in pressing charges. I simply wanted them to take responsibility for the accident and provide their insurance information to me.
The responding officer was able to make contact with the owner of the car. His 16-year-old daughter was driving at the time of the accident and admitted fault. The officer provided the owner’s phone number to me.
I reached out to the owner. Our conversation was brief. I asked for the insurance information. He replied that he’d rather pay for the repair directly because his daughter is a new driver and only 16 and he doesn’t want their insurance rate to go up. He asked if I was willing to do that. I was hesitant but understood, so I said, “Okay,” and agreed to call after I had an estimate for the repair.
After that call, I felt uneasy. I followed up via email with the responding officer for the police report. I emailed him the footage, and let him know that the owner refused to provide his insurance information. I also emailed the club to make sure they saved the footage in case it’s needed at a later date (they did).
The officer called me again not long after I emailed him and gave me the owner’s insurance policy number. I felt a bit better knowing that I have it just in case the situation got hairy.
His wife called me later Sunday evening. She was very nice and we spoke for 10 minutes. It became clear to me that they were under the impression that only my tail light was damaged. Her daughter said that her passenger mirror hit my car. I explained that I didn’t think that caused my damaged tail light, and that I thought she cut her turn short in a tight spot and wedged her vehicle up against mine which in turn put upward pressure on my tail light which caused it to break, and that there is also damage to my bumper. I explained that this was the damage I could see, and there could be more (my car is a 2019 SUV with cameras and sensors that I bought new).
I told her I would get an estimate this week and send it their way. She texted me her email address.
Monday I called our insurance agent to inform him of the accident and seek his advice. He encouraged me to file a claim, and advised how best to move forward if I did not make a claim.
Yesterday (Tuesday), I got the estimate for the repairs. It’s ~$2700, and the shop made it clear to me that it is not unusual to find more damage after disassembly. At the time of the repair, the estimate is to be paid up front, and the final balance upon pick up of the vehicle.
I forwarded the estimate to the owner’s wife, and in that email I expressed my preference to go through insurance.
She responded later that evening, and it is now clear to me that we are not on the same page. She doesn’t believe that the damage described in the estimate is consistent with her daughter’s recollection of events. She is asking me to send photos of the damage to my car, and is requesting the video footage from me. I am not inclined to do that, and I think it’s time to file the claim.
The driver did not notify me of the accident at the time of the accident in any way. She sat in her vehicle in a nearby parking spot waiting for her mom.
Is this considered a hit and run? I only know her identity because of the police report that I filed the next day and the footage.
The owner’s daughter is also a member at the club where I practice/train. My practice on Saturday is 8-10 am. Hers 10-12. We have the same coach. I am trying to leave the club out of it aside from accessing the security footage.
Will the insurance company want names of witnesses? I don’t have those, but the club could ask the girls who did witness it (also on footage) to come forward.
I’m just at a loss. I was trying to be nice and understanding and cooperative with their wishes. I thought I’d have the upper hand since I was not notified. Now I’m anxious about the entire situation, haven’t slept all night, and want to protect myself. I’m filing a claim today (Wednesday). How should I respond or do I even respond to her email?

2024.05.15 11:24 robbielanta AMD T14s gen 2 vs T14 g4

Hey guys,
I started browsing the used market in Italy and for my budget I'm on track for a T14 AMD. I'm just torned between two options, T14s gen 2 and T14 gen4.
Pros and cons of T14s gen2: - Screen is 500 nits + Stronger and sleeker case. + Octacore processor. Ryzen 7 pro 5850u + 32 gb RAM - RAM is DDR4
Pros and cons of T14 gen 4: +- newer processor, 6 cores though. Ryzen pro 5 7540u + Faster ram: 16Gb LPDDR5X a 6400MHz - screen is 300 nits.
Other than my daily driver usage, I mostly use PCs for audio processing. I'm.wondering in my case if it's more important RAM speed or ammount.
What would you recommend? They're essentially at the same price.

2024.05.15 10:25 suddenefficiencydrop Setting up X390: performance vs. everyday mode?

Hi fellow thinkpadders,
I'm about to set up a refurbed X390 running Win10pro for DJing and music production. For this purpose I'll strip down all unnecessary processes, prioritize the audio driver etc. This will include any update schedulers, for Windows and my music software. Just to squeeze out all power for performing.
In between gigs I won't need all that, could totally get away with economic power settings and having my software update while maintaining my music and sample libraries.
What would you recommend as the best way to have both options on one machine? Separate users? Separate OS installations? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance, take care!
Edit: If you deem this question not thinkpad specific enough, lmk. I'll ask around on other subs.

2024.05.15 09:27 niceshot1981 XPS 13 9365 (2019) - Static/Crackling noise ONLY when playing audio

Just bought a used 2in1 9365 (2019) and notice this very low but annoying static/crackling noise when I adjust the windows volume level, playing a YouTube video, or really playing any sound. The static/crackle noise comes on when I play audio and stops when I mute or pause/stop the audio, so I know it’s a software issue. Also, weirdly enough sometimes when the laptop boots up the audio is clean without any static/crackling even when I adjust the windows volume level, but then comes back on its own…. Also I do not hear the noise through Bluetooth speakers or headphones.
I tried updating my Realtek audio drivers and also disabling all enhancements from the windows sound settings.

2024.05.15 09:14 SackFullofAxeHandles for the love of God how do you STOP the main menu music that keeps looping?

As the title says how do you stop the music, or at the very least turn it down? Or is this not an option?.. Do u have2 turn your entire rig's audio system driver down to eliminate this madness? FYI: Just bought the game & all DLC despite hearing a lot of smack talk not to do it. 1st time ever "playing" an Ark game. Not a good start & laggy as shizz too. Even running 4090 & 64GB ram. Game looks f^%&ing awesome though. It's a shame. Not giving up though but this "epic" f-chord progression looping ➰ non-stop is pushing the limits of my vex meter.

2024.05.15 08:44 Oh-My-God-Do-I-Try MacBook is connected to external display but won’t use the audio device

I’m new to Mac and having trouble finding troubleshooting tools. If I were on windows I’d be going to device manager and restarting my audio drivers but I can’t seem to find the equivalent of that for Mac yet.
Anyway, I have a MacBook Pro running Sonoma, and an Asus monitor connected to it through a docking station. At first everything was fine and it played my audio through the monitor speakers without issue. This morning, the audio (Spotify) started skipping and speeding like a CD player left in the hot sun for too long, and then just stopped working altogether. The Mac registers the monitor as an audio device, but the volume bar is disabled and nothing plays through the speakers. The Mac’s native speakers work fine. I’ve both restarted and shutdown-started, and yes the monitor is selected as the output device. And of course google is just full of articles like “try these 10 things if your Mac audio doesn’t work! [download this app or download this app or download this app]”
Anyone have advice on what to do next?

2024.05.15 08:23 fallendiscrete What are the current top best open-back headphones for overall gaming/music/movies that don't cost a leg and arm?

Hello Everyone,
I've done countless research and searched around, alot of answers and comparisons are from a bunch of years ago for alot of posts so I was curious if I could get some help for more recent times.
Currently I am using Sennheiser HD599se, had a bunch of 'gaming' ones but closed-back caused massive headaches plus I don't like the feeling. These were amazing but are falling apart, I kinda want to splurge a bit but nothing to crazy.
I am Canadian so it's a bit hard to get some exotic headphones - would prefer Amazon mainly if possible.
I currently want to use them for competitive gaming (high rank - prefer large sound-stage, wanted HD800s but saw price) and even single player games for a cinematic. Want to enjoy and have a warm fun kind of sound for movies or casual tv shows, want to enjoy music and have a all rounder.
Currently I'm a bit confused because I see now there are Planar Magnetic Headphones also but unsure if they are worth it or not.
Budget is ~$550 CAD if possible.
Currently I managed to find these:
  1. Audio Technica ATH-R70x (Constantly hear about this but some people mention its muddy/over hyped)
  2. Hifiman SUNDARA
  3. Sennheiser HD 600/650 Open (I don't know the difference between the 650/600/600S2/6xx the names are confusing)
  4. AKG K702
  5. AKG 712 Pro
  6. HIFIMAN Edition XS
  7. Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO
  8. GRADO SR80x Prestige Series (Unsure if this brand is realiable/good?)
  9. Philips SHP9500
  10. Linsoul HarmonicDyne Zeus (Heard the wire's were fantastic)
  11. FiiO FT3 HiFi Studio (These were hyped because of the massive drivers but unsure which ohm version and if they are hidden gems)
  12. Audeze MM-100
Can someone please help me figure which one is the best or if there is something else that is open-back, is enjoyable to use without EQ'ing to much? Or even what the top 3 current ones are?
TL;DR: Budget: $550 CAD preferred Type: Open-Back Goals: Sound-stage/Clarity/Immersive/Good Bass (Not Main Focus) Main Usage: Competitive Gaming/Single Player Immersion/Music (Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, Classical (Zimmerman/Interstellar Like stuff), Rock/Afro-beat Side Usage: Movies/TV Shows Prefer warm and rich sounds but not muddy, prefer clarity - can even be cool and airy.

M&B 2024 Warsaw 2: History of Money and Finance
For our schedule and links to other discussions, see the Money and Banking 2024 master post.
This is the discussion thread for Economics of Money and Banking Warsaw Lecture 2: History of Money and Finance?
This lecture provides historical context for how people have thought about money and banking over time, and, in particular, how the Money View approach evolved. This material is largely absent from the original 2012 lectures, but the historical context can give us an intellectual starting point to build on.
NOTE 1: As with Warsaw Lecture 1, the audio in this lecture only plays over the left channel. I recommend downmixing to mono in your computer's audio settings, so it doesn't distract you.
NOTE 2: The recording doesn't start until a few minutes in, toward the end of Slide 2.
The slides are not always visible in the recording. I've included their content below.

Slide 2: Two traditions (0:00 – 0:18)

“There were, at the least, two strands in classical economics. There was one (represented, roughly speaking, by Ricardo and his followers) which maintained that all would be well if by some device credit money could be made to behave like metallic money; there was another (represented, so far as I have taken the story, by Thornton and Mill) which held that credit money must be managed, even though (as was admitted) it is difficult to manage it. This is a major difference, and it has outlasted Keynes.” Hicks 1967, “Monetary Theory and History”

Slide 3: Drivers (0:18 – 5:18)

  • World Wars, World Depression, Rise of Welfare State, Stabilization Policy
  • Rise of the United States (1913 Fed, 1944 Bretton Woods), from sterling to dollar reserve
  • Professionalization of Economics, Formal Turn in Economics, Econometric Movement
  • De-colonization, Independence, Financial Crisis
  • Emerging Markets, Financial Globalization, Global Financial Crisis

Slide 4: The Money View (5:18 – 6:41)

  • Banking as a Payments System

    • Minsky (1957): The Survival Constraint
  • Banking as a Market Making System

Slide 17: The Lucas Link: Macro vs. Finance (40:11 – 42:52)

“On the one hand, it is easy to postulate agents and market institutions which ignore or foolishly waste information: the result is a theory which seriously understates agents’ abilities to vary their decision rules with changes in the environment (such as, for example, the theory underlying the major econometric forecasting models). It is equally easy to postulate ‘efficient’ securities markets which rapidly transmit all information to all traders: the result is a static general equilibrium model. To observe that one must avoid both extremes to understand the business cycle does not take one very far in discovering the correct ‘centrist’ model, but it seems nonetheless an essential point of departure.” (Lucas 1975, 1138).

Slide 35: The Vision of Minsky (1999) (1:05:31 – 1:08:12)

“By his own reckoning, Minsky was an institutionalist economist in the sense that he viewed the structure of the economic world not as immanent in some set of underlying data—such as endowments, technology, and preferences—but rather as constituted by a set of key economic institutions. He was institutionalist too in his insistence that our economy is essentially, not incidentally, monetary in character. His way of fleshing out that idea was to look at every economic unit—firms, households, governments, even countries—as though it were a bank daily balancing cash inflow against cash outflow. From that point of view, the categories that most economists, and most people, take to be solid simply melt into air. Production, consumption, and trade, are nothing more than flows of money in and out and between different economic units. The most real thing is money, but money is nothing more than a form of debt, which is to say a commitment to pay money at some time in the future. The whole system is therefore fundamentally circular and self-referential. There is nothing underneath, as it were, holding it up. In Minsky’s hyper-modern institutionalism, institutions do not merely organize the stuff of some pre-existing real world; there are the only real world there is. Financial relationships are not about mediating something else on the ‘real’ side of the economy; they are the constitutive relationships of the whole system. The veil of money is the very fabric of the modern economy.

2024.05.15 07:46 WhoaTeejaay Audio Cuts Out When CPU is above 30% Usage

Motherboard: Asus Z790-E WWifi
CPU: i9-13900K
GPU: Asus Rog Strix 4090
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 - 32GBx2 (6400MHz) *XMP Enabled*
Some programs that i use for RGB and Peripheral management include: - iCue - Armoury Crate (I have to use this to manage my GPU RGB) - G.Skill Trident RGB - GeForce Experience
