Timothy Treadwell’s Birth Chart - What aspects are responsible for his fate?
Here’s a brief summary about Timothy via Wikipedia.org
Timothy Treadwell (born Timothy William Dexter; April 29, 1957 – October 5, 2003) was an American bear enthusiast, environmentalist, documentary filmmaker, and founder of the bear-protection organization Grizzly People. He lived among coastal brown bears (Ursus arctos horribilis) in Katmai National Park, Alaska, for 13 summers.
On October 5, 2003, Treadwell and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were killed and almost fully eaten by a 28-year-old male bear whose stomach was later found to contain human remains and clothing.[2] Treadwell's life, work, and death were the subject of Werner Herzog's critically acclaimed documentary film Grizzly Man (2005).

Also known by the 2005 documentary titled “Grizzly Man,” Timothy Treadwell was a passionate man who loved nature and animals and believed he could live among the grizzly bears on an Alaskan preserve and be accepted by them. I won’t spoil it, but it does not turn out as he thought it would.

2024.05.07 02:43 AccomplishedAuthor3 Questions From Readers ◻ Is Jesus the Mediator only for spirit-anointed Christians or for all mankind, since 1 Timothy 2:5, 6 speaks of him as the “mediator” who “gave himself a corresponding ransom for all”? Questions From Readers The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom—1989

Below is an explanation of the two hopes the Watchtower teaches. This is why the average JW cannot partake of the emblems they pass around each year signifying Christ's body and blood. According to their leaders, they simply aren't in the new covenant. They say its a "carefully arranged legal provision involving God" and 144,000 people. The majority of Jehovah's witnesses are not in the new covenant and are even made to feel happy about it. Millions of them never expect to meet the man who died for their sins, because, according to the Watchtower, He isn't their mediator. JW's are actually taught to be happy with that prospect. How can any Christian be happy thinking they will never meet Christ?

To grasp what Paul is saying, we must first appreciate that the Bible sets out two destinies for faithful humans: (1) perfect life on a restored earthly paradise and (2) life in heaven for Christ’s “little flock,” numbering 144,000. (Luke 12:32; Revelation 5:10; 14:1-3) Christendom teaches that all good people go to heaven, which unscriptural position has colored the general view, so that Jesus is considered a go-between for all such people. What, though, does the Bible indicate? ... the new covenant is not a loose arrangement open to all mankind. It is a carefully arranged legal provision involving God and anointed Christians.
... the term “mediator” has a legal significance,’ and “although in this passage, in contrast to Heb 8:6, the [covenant] is not mentioned, one must nevertheless presuppose the meaning ‘mediator of the covenant,’ as the context shows.” Professor Oepke observes that 1 Timothy 2:5 presents Jesus as “the attorney and negotiator.”...
...Think of a legal case in which an attorney is involved. His role may be not so much that of a lawyer arguing for justice as that of one who is mediating or bringing about a legal contract acceptable to and beneficial to two parties. Of course, you are not in that legal case, so in that sense he is not serving as your attorney. Yet he may be your very close friend who in other ways gives you valuable help....
Consequently, 1 Timothy 2:5, 6 is not using “mediator” in the broad sense common in many languages. It is not saying that Jesus is a mediator between God and all mankind. Rather, it refers to Christ as legal Mediator (or, “attorney”) of the new covenant, this being the restricted way in which the Bible uses the term.

Questions From Readers
***paraphrased
How can they say there are two hopes when the Bible says "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;" Ephesians 4:5
As far as the new covenant goes it is said to save completely those who come to God thru Jesus. There is no mention of some secondary benefit to people who are not in the new covenant. You're either in it, or you are ...out.
'Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant....but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore "he is able to save completely those who come to God through him", because he always lives to intercede for them... 'Hebrews 7:22-25
Who will Jesus come to dine with? Only 144,000 special Jehovah's witnesses? Nope, Jesus will come in and dine with "anyone" who opens the door to His voice. "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." Revelation 3:20
That doesn't sound like Christ is someone else's attorney. He is our Lord and Savior... or He isn't. That's the choice, there's no second option. The Watchtower seems intent on keeping as many people as they can out of heaven and out of the new covenant. Why is that? Every Jehovah's witness needs to demand an answer

2024.05.03 01:03 Das_Ace The 'bear or man in the woods' is platonic ideal of online gender war idiocy.

I think it's pretty hard to argue that in real life if you saw a bear up ahead on a woodland track and a random hiking guy behind you you'd move back toward the hiker.
But in online and digital feminist spaces the emotive response to the word 'random man' is every sexist, sexual or aggressive encounter you've had in your life and every creepy dude who messages you through the apps on your phone. Every perpetrator from your True Crime podcasts. Who would you rather encounter: a bear or the family from Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Once the questions gains memetic energy it stops being about actual bears and actual men but about staking positions in the greater gender wars. A woman is imaging Ted Bundy and a cute bear cub, a man is imaging their friend Mike and a polar bear. So it doesn't matter if you pull out the audio of Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend screaming for their lives while bears eat their guts or posting the amount of deaths to bears compared to the amount of murders by men, the actual question is irrelevant. Your response is about posturing your position because you are either downplaying women's feelings about the shit they deal with in their lives or downplaying how dangerous wild animals are and overstating how dangerous the average man is.
Thank god they've banned TikTok.

Orthodox Mongolia: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Part 3: From the 1990s to the present; overview

In February 2016, the Russian Orthodox Church’s Bishops’ Council made amendments to the ROC Charter, according to which Mongolia was included in the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church. It demonstrates a special attitude towards Mongolia on the part of the ROC. That amendment was explained both by the historical position of Mongolia in the Russian Empire’s sphere of influence and by the present time; since the early 1990s, none of the Local Orthodox Churches, except the Russian Church, has sent missionaries to Mongolia.
Over the fourteen years of Fr. Alexei Trubach’s service as the rector (2005–2019), energetic missionary activities in various fields were organized in Mongolia (mainly in the cities of Ulaanbaatar and Erdenet). As a result, a strong multinational Orthodox community has been built in Mongolia, consisting not only of Russian-speaking citizens of Russia and Mongolia, but also of those Mongolians and citizens of third countries for whom modern Russian is as foreign and incomprehensible as liturgical Church Slavonic.
The expectations of Fr. Eugene Startsev (then rector of the Church of the Hodegetria Icon in Ulan–Ude, now a cleric of the Irkutsk Diocese), which he expressed during his trip to the Khalkhin Gol in August 2005, were surprisingly fulfilled:
“Batiushka labors absolutely selflessly in this field… He is zealous in his ministry. He serves alone in the church—he censes, reads and sings himself. Fr. Alexei has extensive plans. I think that for the most part they are destined to come true, because he is a serious priest. I am sure that he will have a choir and a reader.” [1]
Indeed, on the foundation laid by the clergy of the Chita and Transbaikal Diocese and by the first rector of the parish, Archpriest Anatoly Fesechko, Archpriest Alexei arranged a well-organized, systematic liturgical and extra-liturgical life; a church choir was formed from professional Mongolian singers—a rare phenomenon for modern Russian churches abroad. Three acolytes served in the church altar, and services began to be translated into Mongolian.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Great Litany and antiphons began to be proclaimed and sung in Mongolian, the Epistles and the Gospel are read in three languages: Church Slavonic, Mongolian and English. This principle of addressing the country’s local population in their native language is even implemented in the paintings of the Holy Trinity Church, on the walls of which there are the initial words of the Creed in Mongolian. The Third and the Sixth Hours are served in Mongolian as well.
In addition to the celebration of all services according to the Typikon, a sports and cultural and educational center began to function stably in the parish. From December 2008 [2] to January 2013, the Troitsa (“Trinity”) parish newspaper was printed in Russian and Mongolian. Catechetical literature (by St. Nikolaj [Velimirovic] of Zica and Priest Georgy Maximov, our contemporary) and prayer-books (the morning and evening prayer rules) were translated into Mongolian. Besides, since the late 2006 there has been a parish website, which is currently being modernized. In addition to the website, the parish's social media page appeared under the next rector, Priest Anthony Gusev.
Archpriest Alexei Trubach fulfilled all the tasks he had been entrusted with and on May 30, 2019, due to the end of his mission term, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was released from his obedience as rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Ulaanbaatar.
Priest Anthony Gusev with his wife Anastasia and son Timothy
Priest Anthony Gusev, a cleric of the Orenburg Diocese, was appointed next rector by decree of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia on July 5, 2019. Prior to sending him to Mongolia, the Church hierarchy charged him with a task that may seem ordinary: “to preserve the parish.” Providentially, it was six months before mankind was faced with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having experience in organizing and carrying out design and repair work, in the first months after his arrival in Ulaanbaatar Fr. Anthony repaired the parish apartment, the roof of the parish building and the gym (ventilation, lighting) and arranged for the exterior whitewashing of the building and the church. Later, as funds accumulated, the heating system inside the church was improved, and the furniture in the sanctuary was partially replaced.
The task that the Church hierarchy had set before Fr. Anthony became particularly relevant during the period of strict lockdowns and other precautionary measures imposed in Mongolia for quite a long time in response to the spread of coronavirus. From February 2020 to September 2021 (with rare short intervals) the church was closed for public worship and even for visitors. Movement around the city during lockdowns was limited, many parishioners fell ill, and most residents of the country were simply afraid to leave their homes. In such circumstances, to keep people in a prayerful mood, strengthen their faith, organize services, and provide an opportunity for Orthodox parishioners to attend them was an absolutely new challenge that the Russian Orthodox Church in Mongolia faced.
Thanks to the personal participation of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mongolia I.K. Azizov and the close ties established in Ulaanbaatar by Fr. Anthony Gusev, it became possible to celebrate the Divine Liturgy during lockdowns, first in the cinema hall of the Russian Embassy building in Mongolia, where Pascha was celebrated in 2020, and then in the Trade Mission’s outbuilding. Thus, active interaction of the Church and State allowed the Orthodox in Mongolia even during restrictions to participate in the most important Church sacrament—the Eucharist.
With the support of Russian firms and agencies of Russian companies, food packages were collected twice a year in the parish in order to support socially vulnerable segments of the population, whose numbers had noticeably increased owing to the stresses caused by measures to combat COVID-19. In addition, in July–August 2021, an extended-day group was temporarily organized within the walls of the parish building for children of Russian compatriots who, under quarantine measures, had to stay at home all the time and were unable to attend preschool educational institutions.
Another form of social service has been the regular collection of humanitarian aid on the territory of the parish for people in the SMO zone with the active participation of the Coordination Council of the Organization of Russian Compatriots in Mongolia.
We should also mention apologetic work carried out by the Russian Orthodox Church in Mongolia. In Orthodoxy “apologetics” is understood as “defending the dignity of Christian teaching as the only true one before those who deny it” and “revealing and defending Christian teaching with the help of means used by adherents of other faiths and non-believers.” [3]
It is known that a broad range of Protestantism flourishes in Mongolia. According to some outdated information, the most numerous are evangelicals (having about 36,000 people, 400 communities, and forty-seven NGOs) and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons; around 8,000–10,000 members, thirty branches, and over 160 missionaries). [4]
In 2010 the comprehensive encyclopedia called Religions of the World by the American religious scholar J. Gordon Melton (a member of the United Methodist Church) estimated that Christians make up 1.7 percent of the country’s population (47,100 adherents). [5] According to the 2020 census, the number of Christians in Mongolia among those over the age of fifteen has dropped to 2.2 percent [6]. According to a survey conducted by the Institute of Philosophy of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, 2.4 percent of the population identify themselves as Christians among the country’s religious citizens. [7]
In addition, certain conditions for the position of Orthodoxy in Mongolia are imposed by some articles of the Mongolian Law “On the Relationship Between the State and Religious Institutions”, which has already been considered in part 1. It regulates missionary activities of preachers of “non-traditional” religions. So for example, according to paragraph 2 of Article 3, “it is prohibited to compel citizens to embrace or not embrace a faith”; according to paragraph 7 of Article 4, “it is prohibited to hold organized events to spread religion from abroad”; according to paragraph 8 of Article 4, “the State regulates the total number of clergy and the locations of churches.” [8] This circumstance entails the annual practice of extending State registration of religious organizations, including Orthodox parishes.
The process of annual re-registration of a religious organization is rather complicated, lengthy and requires certain skills. Nevertheless, recently some representatives of the capital city authorities have met the Holy Trinity parish halfway, moving away from their notorious formalism. It is largely thanks to both the diplomacy of the rectors of the Orthodox parish and the authorities’ sincere amazement: “It appears that, unlike many Protestant organizations, the Orthodox in Mongolia just pray without participating in other, non-religious activities.” [9]
The abundance and diversity of Christian teachings in Mongolia creates a rich polemical environment for Orthodox missionaries. Orthodox clergy and laypeople regularly talk about the faith with the capital city residents and in the country in general not only at their parish, but also in everyday life situations. As a result, some Mongolians, Russians, and citizens of third countries permanently residing in Mongolia convert to Orthodoxy. Besides, many Mongolians living in Ulaanbaatar who are located outside the area where the Russian church is situated learn about the Holy Trinity parish’s existence and about Orthodox Christianity solely from such conversations.
The population of the country is quite tolerant of and somewhat indifferent to the vestments of Orthodox priests, so over the fourteen years of his ministry in Mongolia Fr. Alexei Trubach always walked freely around the city in his cassock, which, according to him, was also a form of mission. Fr. Anthony adheres to a similar practice.
During the two modern stages, under Priests Alexei and Anthony, regular talks were held with Mongolian residents who had suffered after going to shamans and turned to Orthodox clergy for spiritual help and support. This applied both to unbaptized Mongolians (some of whom were later baptized, but in most cases continued to adhere to their beliefs and to turn to shamans for “help” again) and to baptized but non-religious local Russians, who culturally partially merge with the native population of Mongolia, the spirituality of which is mainly a blend of Buddhist beliefs and shamanic and other pre-Buddhist cults.
Under Fr. Alexei Trubach, the Russian Orthodox Church in Mongolia established warm, friendly relations with both the head of the largest local Buddhist sangha (the Mongolian Buddhist Association, head abbot of Gandantegchinlen Monastery in Ulaanbaatar) D. Choijamts (served from 1993 to 2023) and the Catholic Bishops Wenceslao Padilla (2002–2018) and his successor Giorgio Marengo (cardinal since August 2022) and other clerics of the Roman Catholic Church.
Since 2021, there has been a regular practice of organizing and holding interfaith dialogues (Orthodox-Catholic, Orthodox-Buddhist, and other round tables) and mutual visits on the occasion of commemorative and solemn events.
During his five-year ministry, Fr. Anthony, despite the challenges of the pandemic, did not interrupt his liturgical activity, organizing the collection of humanitarian aid for both poor residents of Ulaanbaatar (during lockdowns), regardless of their denominations, and for people in the war zone, repairing the parish building, the gym and arranging the whitewashing of the church (which hadn’t been whitewashed since the time it was built). He takes an active part in official events of the Russian Embassy in Mongolia and the Russkiy Dom (“Russian House”) Russian Scientific and Cultural Center, cooperates with many Russian and Mongolian public organizations, involving all interested citizens in the development of parish life, maintaining relations with members of numerous non-Orthodox denominations in the country. Moreover, together with representatives of Russian search expeditions he more than once visited the battlefields in Dornod Aimag (province), where memorial services were celebrated for those who were killed there.
A gym continues to function on the territory of the parish, where fitness training and martial arts training sessions are held; the Anima art school is still open, and among its students there are children with various congenital diseases. The parish has a Sunday school for children, where parishioners teach. Some Sunday school students were born in Mongolia from both Russian and mixed marriages, and were baptized within the walls of the Holy Trinity Church. Regularly after the Sunday Divine Liturgy and the subsequent meal, reading and study of the Holy Scriptures is organized.
The number of parishioners is growing and is not limited only to Russian-speaking citizens of Russia and Mongolia. According to Fr. Anthony, today there are 150-200 parishioners in the country’s only Orthodox church, with thirty to seventy people praying at Sunday services—these are Russians, Mongolians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Greeks, Serbs, Britons, Americans, Georgians, Poles, Canadians and New Zealanders. [10]
The great merit of the Russian Orthodox Church in Mongolia is the integration into Church life of baptized people—those who are usually perceived as Orthodox “by definition”. Many local Russian specialists permanently residing in Mongolia, as well as those on business trips from Russia, without adhering to any particular religious system (even if they are baptized), are quite easily drawn into all sorts of local Buddhist teachings, Shamanistic and Parabuddhist cults. [11]
But not all plans have been implemented so far. For example, the large-scale reconstruction of the church park area and the construction of a chapel-burial vault in the southwestern part of the parish area, in which the remains of Soviet soldiers who fell in the Battles of Khalkhin Gol in 1939 will be buried, are still planned.
Thus, the three rectors of the Holy Trinity Parish of Ulaanbaatar at the present stage of the history of Orthodoxy in Mongolia have successfully solved the specific tasks assigned to them by God. Under Fr. Anatoly Fesechko, a house church was equipped, the parish building was rebuilt, and the foundation of the Orthodox community, which exists in the parish to this day, was laid. Under Archpriest Alexei Trubach, the church was built, the surrounding area was beautified, a gym appeared and liturgical and extra-liturgical parish life was organized in all possible forms. Under Priest Anthony Gusev, the parish withstood the unprecedented test of the pandemic, and Orthodox residents of the capital could participate in joint services during lockdowns, the community was preserved and new members are still joining today.
The results and prospects of 160 years of service
The purpose of this article was not only to demonstrate some key episodes related to the history of Orthodoxy in Mongolia ahead of the 160th anniversary of its existence, but also to show that the example of Mongolia and its Orthodox community clearly shows the universal nature of the Orthodox faith, where there is neither Greek nor Jew (Col. 3:11); neither a local Russian, nor a Mongol, nor a Russian diplomat, nor a descendant from a mixed marriage (whether between a Russian and a Mongolian or a Mongolian and a Briton)…
In the thirteenth and the fourteenth centuries, the imperial mood of Mongolian khans allowed them to become closer to Orthodox preachers, who felt comfortable in the capital of the empire—Karakorum. A natural development of these relations was the establishment of the Diocese of Sarai in the Golden Horde, which bound together the Horde and Russia, performing certain diplomatic mediation functions for the Byzantine Empire and the Russian princes alike.
The clergy of the Diocese of Sarai and other dioceses bordering the Horde, despite their secure existence under imperial patronage, were quite passive in mission. Despite this, the scarce (in terms of numbers) preaching of Orthodoxy had a wholesome effect on the hearts of some individual Horde representatives. And speaking about some of the major figures of the joint Russo-Mongolian past, we can’t ignore their confession of the Orthodox faith. First of all, these are three saints: the Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky, the Venerable Tsarevich Peter of the Horde and the Holy Hierarch Alexei of Moscow.
The history of Orthodox Mongolia of the nineteenth–early twentieth centuries acquaints us with the great spiritual labors of a number of priests who bound together the churches of the Irkutsk Diocese, Transbaikalia, Mongolia and China, and in most cases remained faithful to God to the death. And if readers have a desire to pray for the repose of the souls of the Orthodox clergy of Urga, it would be the best tribute to Archpriests John, Mily and Fyodor, Hieromonks Sergei, Gerontius and Cornelius, Priests Alexei, Vsevolod, and two Nicholases.
In February 1998, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, in a letter to His Eminence Innokenty, Bishop of Chita and Transbaikalia, written on the occasion of the appointment of permanent rector to Ulaanbaatar and in gratitude to Priest Oleg Matveyev, who had temporarily pastored the Orthodox faithful in Mongolia, expressed the hope that “in the future the spiritual bonds traditionally uniting the Orthodox parishes of Transbaikalia and Mongolia will be preserved.” [12] Today the Holy Trinity Parish of Ulaanbaatar has strong friendly relations with the Orthodox parishes of the Buryat Metropolia, with the clergy concelebrating and parishioners making mutual pilgrimages. To date, a strong multinational and multilingual community has developed in Mongolia on the basis of a single Orthodox parish, which should become the foundation and model for further missionary work in this country.

2024.04.26 16:24 JustKidding456 Fifth Sunday of Easter: Gospel Reading (CPH The Lutheran Study Bible)

Have a blessed week ahead.
Gospel According to John, 15:1–8:
I Am the True Vine
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
Engelbrecht, E. A. (2009). The Lutheran Study Bible. Concordia Publishing House:
15:1–17 Christ is the true vine, and His disciples are the branches, vitally connected to Him and spontaneously bearing fruit under His purifying care. Christians must love one another as friends, not regard one another as enemies. By grace, God has dwelt among us in His Son (1:14) and has joined us together in a fellowship of self-giving love. • Hear the prayers of Your faithful people, who desire to do Your will, dear Lord. Amen.
Engelbrecht, E. A. (2009). The Lutheran Study Bible. Concordia Publishing House:

15:1 true vine. As opposed to unbelieving Israel, the false vine (cf Is 5:1–7; Ezk 19:10–14).
15:2–3 fruit. Not just holy deeds, but love and witness leading to new disciples. prunes. Lit, “cleanses” (cf v 3). Although Christians have already been cleansed by God’s forgiveness, they are daily in need of repentance and spiritual growth. clean because of the word. The means through which the cleansing takes place, since the Word’s content is Christ.
15:4 Abide. Major theme in Jn, defining the relationship not only of persons in the Trinity (1:32–33; 14:10; 15:10), but also between believers and Christ (5:38; 8:31; 15:7, 9–10). Bern: “I wish to follow with all my strength the lowly Jesus; I wish Him, who loved me and gave Himself for me, to embrace me with the arms of His love, which suffered in my stead; but I must also feed on the Paschal Lamb, for unless I eat His Flesh and drink His Blood I have no life in me. It is one thing to follow Jesus, another to hold Him, another to feed on Him. To follow Him is a life-giving purpose; to hold and embrace Him a solemn joy; to feed on Him a blissful life” (SLSB, pp 292–93).
15:5 apart from Me you can do nothing. “We cannot keep the Law without Christ’s aid.… So, before we keep the Law, our hearts must be born again through faith” (Ap V 194). “Without faith, human nature does not call upon God, nor expect anything from Him, nor bear the cross [Matthew 16:24]. Instead, human nature seeks and trusts in human help. So when there is no faith and trust in God, all kinds of lusts and human intentions rule in the heart [Genesis 6:5]” (AC XX 37–38).
15:6 fire. Symbol of judgment and destruction (cf Ezk 15:1–8; Mt 3:10).
15:7 it will be done. Cf 14:14, “in My name, I will do it,” not simply a formula appended to a prayer, but prayer in keeping with Jesus’ revealed will and teaching. Cf Jas 4:3.
15:8 As Christ glorified the Father through His obedience, believers glorify God through their lives—and show that they are real disciples, attached to the vine.

2024.04.08 22:26 Anakin_Solo_2001 The Attack on the Bible!

Dr. Terry Watkins Dial-the-Truth Ministries
God has placed a lot of importance upon His words.
Matthew 24:35 reads, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my WORDS shall not pass away." Psalms 138:2 says, ". . . for thou hast magnified thy WORD above all thy name." Psalms 119:89 says, "For ever, O LORD, thy WORD is settled in heaven." The spiritual life-blood of the human race is the word of God.
• It brings salvation: "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God. . ." (1 Peter 1:23) • It produces faith: ". . . faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). • It produces spiritual growth: ". . .desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:" (1 Peter 2:2) •
Jesus Christ said in John 6:63, ". . .the words that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE." And the first time Satan attacks the human race was a direct attack on the word of God!
Genesis 3:1 says, "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, YEA, HATH GOD SAID. . .?" Satan planted a small seed of doubt into the mind of Eve. And as Eve questioned the truthfulness of God's Word - the fall of mankind was only a bite away.
Satan's aim of attack hasn't changed!
In Luke 8, Jesus Christ tells the parable of the sower, verses 11,12 read, "Now the parable is this: The SEED is the word of God. . . THEN COMETH THE DEVIL, and taketh away the word. . ."
Satan knows - if he can supplant even a small seed of doubt in God's word - MANKIND WILL LOOK ELSEWHERE!
Never in history has such doubt and confusion over the Bible existed as is today. And nothing has flamed the fire of confusion and doubt over the Bible more than the scores of different translations flooding the scene. Time magazine (April 20, 1981 p.62) reports, ". . . there is an UNPRECEDENTED CONFUSION of choices in Bibles. Never have so many major new translations been on the market." Since 1880, over 200 different translations have appeared. Every six months a new English version appears!
NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED!
The question has to be asked - is God the author of this flood of new versions? Is God the author of CONFUSION in His word? 1 Corinthians 14:33, clearly states, "God is NOT the author of CONFUSION."
BUT SATAN IS! He knows, if he can plant the smallest seed of doubt and confusion - that individual will not take God's word serious!
God promised to preserve His word...
God promised in Psalms 12:7 that He would preserve His word, "Thou shalt KEEP them, O LORD, thou shalt PRESERVE them from this generation FOR EVER."
And God keeps His promise! I believe, without a doubt, the King James Bible is the preserved word of God. And the new versions are satanic counterfeits to cast doubt, cause confusion and ATTACK THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! And I'm going to prove that on the remainder of this message! If you've come this far, please keep reading - what you're about to read - may be the most important words YOU WILL EVER READ!
Are the new versions different?
Most people believe the different versions are basically the same. They believe the newer versions are just "harmless" updating of words and made easier to understand.
NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!
One of the clearest verses in the Bible proclaiming the deity of Jesus Christ, that Jesus was God in the flesh, is 1 Timothy 3:16. The King James Bible reads, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH. . ." The King James says, clearly, "GOD was manifest in the flesh".
The New International Version (NIV) says, "HE appeared in a body". The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV, etc, change "GOD" to "HE". "He appeared in a body"? Big deal! Everyone has "appeared in a body"! The KJV is clear and definite, "GOD was manifest in the flesh". "He" is a pronoun that refers to a noun or antecedent. There is no antecedent in the context! The statement does NOT even make grammatical sense!
AN ATTACK ON THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST!
In Philippians 2:6, The KJV again, clearly declares the deity of Jesus Christ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD" The new translations completely re-word the verse to deny the deity of Jesus Christ! The NIV, RSV, NASV, NRSV, NKJV(1979 ed.), etc. reads, "Who, being in very nature God, DID NOT CONSIDER EQUALITY WITH GOD something to be grasped,"
Someone is attacking the most important doctrine in the Bible - the deity of Jesus Christ!
WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING?
They attack the virgin birth!
In Luke 2:33, The King James reads, "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." The NIV, NASV, NRSV, etc. reads, "The CHILD'S FATHER and mother marveled at what was said about him." The "CHILD'S FATHER"? Do you believe that Joseph was Jesus's father? Not if you believe the virgin birth! Not if you believe John 3:16, that Jesus Christ was the Son of God! A subtle, attack at the virgin birth.
Think these are just isolated cases? NOT BY A LONG SHOT! There are over 6,000 changes!
They remove the Blood!
Consider Colossians 1:14: the KJV reads, "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, even the forgiveness of sins:" The NIV reads, "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV and co. rip the precious words "THROUGH HIS BLOOD" out! Friend, salvation is only "THROUGH HIS BLOOD". That old song says, "What can wash away my sins, NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!"
They attack John 3:16!
And something has to be done with John 3:16! So the NIV and company reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his ONE AND ONLY SON, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" - removing the critical word "BEGOTTEN"! If Jesus was "the one and only" then what happens to the wonderful promise to believers like 1 John 3:2, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God. . ."? AN OBVIOUS CONTRADICTION APPEARS!
They tell lies!
A blatant error is found in the NIV, NASV, NRSV and "buddies" in Mark 1:2,3: "It is written in Isaiah the prophet: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way -a voice of one calling in the desert, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him." It is NOT written in Isaiah! "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" - is found in Malachi 3:1! The King James correctly reads: "As it is written in the PROPHETS, . . ."
A better translation! Easier to understand! BY A LIE!
Psalms 119:160 says, "Thy word is TRUE. . ." John 17:17 says, ". . . thy word is TRUTH." Titus 1:2 clearly says, ". . . God that CANNOT LIE"
How could the God of Titus 1:2 be the God of Mark 1:2,3 in these new versions? Either the translators of the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV, "crowd" can't read or have never read Isaiah nor Malachi (which is likely!) or somebody is deliberately tampering with God's Word to DISCREDIT IT!
Who would do such a thing?
I'll give you a hint - he's called the "A LIAR, and the father of it" in John 8:44!
Oh, by the way, did you think David killed Goliath? Not according to the NIV, NRSV, NASV, and "boys". In 2 Samuel 21:19, they erroneously read, ". . . Elhanan son of JaareOregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod."
They make Lucifer and Jesus Christ - THE SAME!
In Isaiah 14:12, the father of the new versions removes his mask. The King James reads, "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning!. . ." The NIV, NASV, NRSV etc. reads, "How you have fallen from heaven, O MORNING STAR, son of the dawn. . ." The new per-versions change "Lucifer" to "morning star". According to Revelation 22:16, the "morning star" is the Lord Jesus Christ! What blasphemy! What perversion! And there's no basis whatsoever for the change! The Hebrew word for star (kokab) is not even found in Isaiah 14:12! Is there any doubt who is the "daddy" of these new versions?
They take out hell!
If Satan is the author of these new versions, one subject he will aim his attack, is the place the Bible calls hell. And the new versions go "into loony land" removing it!
Many times they change "hell" to "grave" or "death", but the word "hell" is far and few in the new versions! Like Psalm 9:17: in the King James reads, "The wicked shall be turned into HELL. . ." The NIV, reads, "The wicked return to the GRAVE. . ." We ALL "return to the GRAVE"!
Many times when the new versions come to the obvious word "hell" - they replace it with the Greek word "Hades" or Hebrew "Sheol"! (See Matt. 16:18, Luke 16:23, Acts 2:31 and many, many more, the NEW King James does this 29 times!) Rather than translate into the obvious word hell - THEY REFUSE TO TRANSLATE IT!
And this is a better translation? And these new versions are "easier to read" and "understand"? Who in their right mind thinks Hades or Sheol is "easier to understand" than hell? Why didn't they leave in the Greek word "Ouranos" for heaven? It's obvious! Because someone is trying to remove and cast doubt on the place called hell!
In Isaiah 14:15, the King James Bible condemns Lucifer to hell: "Yet thou shalt be brought down to HELL . . ." The new versions refuse to send Lucifer to hell! The NIV reads, "But you are brought down to the GRAVE. . ." The NASV, NRSV, NEW King James (NKJV) places him in "Sheol"!
hmm. . . I wonder which one the Devil prefers?
The Lord's or The Devil's Prayer?
An alarming display of Satanic perversion is found in Luke 11. The "The Lord's Prayer" is subtly (see 2 Cor. 11:3) transformed into "The Devil's Prayer".
The King James Bible in Luke 11:2-4, reads, ". . .Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil." Incredibly, the NIV, NASV, NRSV, etc. take out: "WHICH ART IN HEAVEN. . . Thy will be done, AS IN HEAVEN, so in earth. . . but DELIVER US FROM EVIL." Heaven is completely removed! The "father" of the new versions is NOT IN HEAVEN and DOES NOT DELIVER FROM EVIL!
I wonder who it could be? (hint: see John 8:44)
Are you getting the picture? Do you see how subtil (see Genesis 3:1), seemingly, harmless the changes are - AND YET HOW DEADLY THEY ARE TO THE INTEGRITY OF GOD'S WORD!
They attack the Lord Jesus Christ! They attack the plan of salvation! They glorify Lucifer! And they deny hell!
Yes friend. Satan has launched an attack on your Bible!
YOU'D BETTER BELIEVE IT!
Did you know, the King James Bible is the only English Bible in the world that has a command to "study" your Bible! That's right! 2 Timothy 2:15, "STUDY to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" - has been changed in every English Bible on the face of this earth! BUT ONE!
They take out whole verses!
In Acts 8:37, the King James reads, "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV and "buddies" reads - ZIP! NOTHING! THEY TOOK THE WHOLE VERSE OUT! One of the best verses in the Bible on salvation through Jesus Christ and they rip it out! Why?
Why is it that every time a sinner is saved by grace in the book of Acts - THEY ATTACK IT? In Acts 9:5,6: Paul is getting saved, and they take out 20 words! In Acts 16:31 when the Philippian jailor is getting saved, the word "CHRIST" is delicately removed! Why do these new bibles so fiercely attack God's wonderful plan of salvation?
WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING?
Several times the Lord warns against "adding and taking away" from His Word. • Deuteronomy 4:2 reads: "YE SHALL NOT ADD unto the word which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH ought from it . . ." • Proverbs 30::6, reads, "ADD THOU NOT unto his words . . ." • And just in case you missed it, GOD'S LAST WARNING is Revelation 22:18,19, ". . . IF ANY MAN SHALL ADD unto these things. . . And if any man shall TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life. . ." • And despite these clear warnings, the new versions, take out and add text, over and over! One of the greatest verses in all the Bible, Matthew 18:11: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." - THEY TAKE IT OUT!
WHY!
They take out: Romans 16:24, Mark 11:25, Acts 15:34, Luke 23:17, Acts 28:29, John 5:4, Mark 7:16, 9:44,46 and many, many more - as your Bible is literally cut apart!
Jesus Christ says, in Luke 4:4, ". . . It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD OF GOD." Not according to the NIV, NASV, NRSV and crew! In fact, the even "tear out"the last half of Luke 4:4 - "BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD"!
Yes, but the new versions have the deity in other places. They contain the plan of salvation in other places. There is good in them. Did you know ONE tiny, microscopic AIDS virus will "defile" a whole batch of perfectly "good" blood? It has some "good" in it - BUT IT WOULD BE DEADLY!
Would you "inject" it into your child, loved one or congregation? And would you "inject" them with a Bible that is "defiled" because it has some "good"? It could be far more costly than their physical life - THEIR ETERNAL SOUL! Galatians 5:9 says, "A LITTLE leaven leaveneth THE WHOLE lump."
But aren't the new versions easier to read?
One of the lies used to promote these per-versions is "they're easier to read and understand". But according to a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level research study, The King James Bible is by far the easiest! Out of 26 different categories - the King James graded easier in a whopping 23! (New Age Bible Versions, Riplinger, pp.195-209)
But haven't "older and more reliable" manuscripts been discovered?
But haven't "older and more reliable manuscripts been discovered" since the King James Bible. Dr. Sam Gipp writes, "The fact is, that the King James translators had ALL OF THE READINGS available to them that modern critics have available to them today." (The Answer Book, Gipp, p.110) Not only that, but most of the recent discoveries support the King James Bible! And furthermore, it is a well documented fact that 85 - 90 per cent of all readings agree with the King James Bible! SO WHY ALL THE CHANGES? See Genesis 3:1.
What about the "ORIGINALS"?
Your King James Bible is attacked by preachers, some intentional and some simply out of ignorance, by "correcting" it with "THE ORIGINALS". There is one itsy-bitsy problem. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "THE ORIGINALS"! We don't have the "originals" Moses, or Paul, or David wrote. There are no set of "ORIGINALS" on the face of this earth! The ghost of "THE ORIGINALS" is a LIE! See John 8:44!
Preachers, by the thousands, will stand weekly in the pulpit and "correct" your King James Bible by saying, "This is an unfortunate translation" or "a better reading would be" or "this word in the 'Greek' can also be translated. . ." Friend, where is the Lord God? The One that "spoke" the worlds into existence - can He not preserve His word as He promised in Psalm 12:7 and Matthew 24:35? Did God Almighty NOT know what He was "inspiring"? Does the Lord need these "Bible correctors" to "help" Him "straighten-out" His word?
As God promised, He has preserved His word for the English people in the King James Bible. Proverbs 16:10 says, "A divine sentence is in the lips of the KING. . ." Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, "Where the word of a KING is, there is power . . ." King James. "James" is not an English word but a Hebrew word. Did you know the Hebrew word for James is Jacob! You'll never guess what Psalms 147:19 says, "He showeth His WORD unto JACOB . . ."
2 Timothy 2:9, reads, " . . . the word of God is NOT BOUND." Anybody can freely (there's that word Eve omitted in Genesis 3:2) print, distribute, and reproduce the King James Bible, without asking anybody for permission! All other translations are "bound" by © copyright laws. New American Standard, - copyright© Lockman Foundation, New International Version - copyright© New York International Bible Society, New King James Version - copyright© Thomas Nelson Publishers. Who with a brain, would seriously think the word of Almighty God is "BOUND" by copyright laws?
IF YOU HAVE A KING JAMES BIBLE
YOU HAVE THE WORD OF GOD!
And don't let anybody take it from you!
Dr. Frank Logsdon was co-founder of The New American Standard Version. As people begin confronting Dr. Logsdon on some the NASV's serious omissions and errors. He re-examined the evidence and this was his verdict:
"I must under God denounce every attachment to the New American Standard Version. I'm afraid I'm in trouble with the Lord . . . I wrote the format . . . I wrote the preface . . . I'm in trouble; . . . its wrong, terribly wrong; its frighteningly wrong . . .The deletions are absolutely frightening . . . there are so many . . . Are we so naive that we do not suspect Satanic deception in all of this?" Dr. Frank Logsdon Co-founder, New American Standard Versio

2024.04.08 21:45 joshRYua bento grid IN collection page?

https://preview.redd.it/4arrtk0g5btc1.png?width=802&format=png&auto=webp&s=391f876bf20fb534ccbfb01dd64c7fd344eb8f35
Hi there,
I'm relatively new to Webflow and I was able to build out a rough bento grid using a collection thanks to Timothy Rick's Dynamic CMS Grid and Sygnal's Variable Collection List Item Layout. They both seem to work great for arranging collection items in a grid by using a collection field for styling.
What I want to know is if it is possible to do something similar with a multi-image field IN each collection item.
Let me explain:
I am building a photographer's site where each photoshoot's gallery can be uploaded as a collection item using the multi-image field. Since the previous solutions style each item according to an option field (i.e. make the item card tall or wide) I can't style each image in a multi-image field in the same way.
I feel like I am so close but I don't know how else to do this.
I stumbled upon a masonry gallery using typography columns as a potential solution, but that's not quite what I am looking for.

2024.03.30 22:21 Dismal_Ad5379 Unraveling the Enigma of UFO Encounters: From 2000-2024

This is part 6 out of 6 of the video timeline posts, and the sixth segment of an eleven-part deep dive into UFO ecounters throughout history, the various evidence for UFOs and the related events & topics that's relevant to the history of UFOs.
In this segment we'll explore sightings and events from the year 2000 up untill the present day. Notable events and encounters during this period are the Illinois sightings, with multiple police officers witnessing a huge UFO (2000), the various Disclosure Project press conferences (2001, 2007 & 2010), the Nimitz encounters (2004), the Chicago O'Hare Airport UFO Incident (2006), the The Kumburgaz, Turkey UFO (2007-2009), the The Stephenville Mass UFO Sightings (2008), the Citizen Hearings on UFO Disclosure (2013), the The USS Roosevelt UAP Encounters (2014-2015), the The Pentyrch UFO Incident (2016), the Mage UFO Crash (2020) and the Congressional Hearing on UFOs (2023), amongst many others.
Continue the journey by following these links to discover the remaining segments:

The playlist this particular timeline is based on:
UFO Encounters: A Complete Timeline & Comprehensive UFO Adjacent Rabbit Hole Guide

The UFO Timeline

A few things to keep in mind before exploring the timeline in this post:
1) To give the viewer a proper look into all the avaliable evidence, theories, claims and data related to specific cases, many of the most well-known and/or most credible UFO events have multiple videos covering them, making it impractical to link to them all in one post. Instead, I'll link to the first video for each case on my playlist and note the number of related videos to the case.
2) Please note that the first video I link to might not always be the best representation of the incident; it's simply the one that comes first on my playlist. Additional videos for the same incidents can be found by checking the subsequent videos that come right after the first one on the playlist.
3) For cases not listed, check the UFO adjacent topics section in the other posts and on my playlist. Most abduction cases and those from the Soviet Union are included there, as I've primarily listed only the more famous abduction cases and incidents from the Soviet Union on the main timeline. A guide to navigating these sections is provided in the posts UFO Adjacent Topics.
4) Documentaries are organized by release year, except when related to UFO adjacent topics or release dates are unknown.
5) While efforts have been made for accuracy, entries are primarily arranged by year and exact dates within those years may not always be in the correct chronological order.
6) A lot of the titles to the various incidents are just copy-pasted from the youtube videos. In the written timelines I'll try to come up with shorter and less clickbaity titles for each case.
7) This timeline is subject to updates and revisions as new incidents and events are discovered or occurs.
2000-2009
I haven't done a deep dive into cases from the 2000s onwards yet, so there might be some cases missing. I'll continue to update this post if/when I find other events.

2005
2006
2007
2007-2009
2008
2009
2010-2019
From here on there will be a lot of podcast interviews, various news segments and anonymous "UFO" footage on the playlist. This was included to kinda give the feeling of what it was like living through those years chronologically for people following this topic.
I'm not going to link to all of that though. I'm only going to link to either the most significant or popular events during those years, or cases & footage with either witness cooperation, multiple angles or if I otherwise find them compelling (which is a great minority of them).
2010
2011
2012
2013
2014
2014-2015
2015
2016
2017
2018
2019
2020-????
The same disclaimer for the 2010-2019 section applies for the 2020s onwards. Especially 2022 and 2023, as there is a lot of news footage and podcasts from the playlist I decided not to link to. The chronology of events will also be much more exact, as I could go by the upload date on the videos.
As many of the events have news footage and videos related to them scattered throughout the year, the videos related to a specific incident or event has been intermixed with videos from other events. This means that videos on the same incident don't automatically follow each other.
When this is the case, I'll write a note on the events, which videos, have been scattered througout.
2020
2021
2022
2023 (A lot happened this year apparently)

2024.03.25 15:11 WeH8JWdotORG 20 "inspired statements" which JW's should test.

REVISED: Hopefully, some newcomers to the forum will find something useful in them.
1) Using only Bible verse/s, conclusively prove the year and the subjects in the following claims:
w16 March p. 29 par. 2 - Then, in 1919, Jesus appointed “the faithful and discreet slave” (aka the WTBTS of Pennsylvania) over God’s cleansed people (aka the Bible Students) to give them spiritual “food at the proper time.”
This dogma is the WTBTS/JW's foundation teaching - and a "house built on sand." (Matthew 7:26)
2) Will the "vile things" spoken of at John 5:29 be practiced during Christ's 1000 years reign?
bh p. 214 par. 3 - "...the judgment will not focus on what people did before they died.....individuals will be judged on the basis of what they do during Judgment Day."
w78 9/1 p. 22 par. 9 - "...the former life pattern will affect the problem of the resurrected ones as to their conforming to Kingdom requirements........they will either turn to the course of doing good things or turn to the practicing of vile things."
If people are going to be practicing vile things during Christ's rulership, this contradicts Revelation 2:27 - "....he will shepherd the people with an iron rod...."
3) The organisation claims this is truth:
w15 11/1 p. 8 - "Soon, God’s Kingdom will bring an end to these last days with the war of Armageddon. As noted earlier, those who perish in this final war will be those who refuse to “obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.” (2Thessalonians 1:8)
But what does the Bible Really Teach? 🤣
Revelation 20:7, 8) - "Now as soon as the 1,000 years have ended, Satan will be released from his prison, and he will go out to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Maʹgog, to gather them together for the war. The number of these is as the sand of the sea."
@ the G.B. & their Writing Committee:
Romans 2:21 - "Do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself?"
4) Are the "great tribulations" of Revelation 7:14 & Matthew 24:21 one and the same?
The great tribulation spoken of at Revelation 7:14 cannot be the same one Jesus spoke of at Matthew 24:21 - for two reasons:
a) The great tribulation of Revelation 7:14 is contextually a reference to the same great tribulation mentioned five chapters previously at Revelation. 2:22 - a tribulation which Christ himself would instigate against those who were corrupting the Christian congregation worldwide. The angel was describing a distinctly different tribulation in Revelation - one which was future. He wasn't discussing one which had already occurred almost 30 years previously.
b) Regarding the great tribulation at Matthew 24:21, Jesus said "....no, nor will occur again." How can something which Jesus said would never be repeated, possibly have another fulfillment? It's false to claim that different scriptures are discussing the same topic, simply because the wording is similar. Acts 7:11 also speaks of a "great tribulation," but the surrounding verses and context clearly eliminate any connection with Matthew 24:21.
5) Does Romans 6:7 refer to a person's literal death or symbolic death?
Watchtower May 15th 1982, pp. 8,9 - "The Bible explains that at death a person is set free or released from any sins he committed."
bh p. 214 par. 3 - "..the judgment will not focus on what people did before they died... Those resurrected thus come to life with a clean slate, so to speak."
Verses - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, & 11 show that the context of verse 7 is figurative, not literal.
2 Seeing that we died with reference to sin, how can we keep living any longer in it?
4 So we were buried with him through our baptism into his death.....
6 For we know that our old personality was nailed to the stake along with him....
8 Moreover, if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
10 For the death that he died, he died with reference to sin...
11 Likewise you, consider yourselves to be dead with reference to sin.
Paul was reminding Christians that they had figuratively died to their former sinful ways. The apostle Peter stated likewise:
1 Peter 2:24 "...so that we might die to sins and live to righteousness...."
If a person's own death erases their sins, it makes Jesus' death totally unnecessary. The following scriptures promise that Christ will judge dead persons:
(Acts 10:42) .....decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
(2 Timothy 4:1) .....Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead,
(1 Peter 4:5) .....the one who is ready to judge those living and those dead.
(Revelation 20:12) The dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls.
How can Jesus judge any resurrected ones if they're already acquitted of their sins?
6) Is the Catholic church's practice of voluntarily confessing to a priest, unscriptural?
J.W.'s are compelled to confess their sins to three elders, but Matthew 18:15-17 says nothing about elders being involved when someone commits a serious sin.
Jesus said that if a sin has been witnessed by someone, the matter should be resolved between the sinner and the witness alone. Also, verse 16 refers to other witnesses of the sin - not of the accusation. (see Matthew 18:17 & 1 Timothy 5:20)
7) Were the "two witnesses" of Revelation chapter 11 J.F. Rutherford and his companions who got jailed in 1918 and then released in 1919?
Watchtower November 15, 2014, p. 30 - Revelation 11:7 says that it is "the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss" which kills the 'two witnesses'.
kj chap. 11 p. 208 par. 33 - “In the spring of the year 1919 C.E. the faithful anointed remnant of Jehovah’s Christian worshipers were delivered from this Babylonish bondage.”
The wild beast that ascends out of the abyss is claimed to be the United Nations. How could a non-existent U.N. which wasn't created until 1945, fulfill a prophecy 27 years earlier? Even the League of Nations never came into existence until 1920!
8) Did a "governing body" resolve the circumcision issue? (Acts 15)
bt chap. 13 p. 103 - "the first-century governing body settled the circumcision issue."
Galatians 2:1-6 shows that it was the apostle Paul who was used to resolve the issue, being directed by a revelation to teach the older men in Jerusalem - not the other way around. (especially verses 2 & 6)
1 ...after 14 years I again went up to Jerusalem with Barnabas, also taking Titus along with me.
2 I went up as a result of a revelation, and I presented to them the good news that I am preaching among the nations. This was done privately, however, before the men who were highly regarded, to make sure that I was not running or had not run in vain.
3 Nevertheless, not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, although he was a Greek.
4 But that matter came up because of the false brothers brought in quietly, who slipped in to spy on the freedom we enjoy in union with Christ Jesus, so that they might completely enslave us;
5 we did not yield in submission to them, no, not for a moment, so that the truth of the good news might continue with you.
6 But regarding those who seemed to be important whatever they were makes no difference to me, for God does not go by a man’s outward appearance - those highly regarded men imparted nothing new to me.
Claims that the apostle Paul was a member of a "governing body" are dispelled in verse 1 where it reveals that he never went near Jerusalem for 14 years. Neither the teaching nor the term "governing body" appears anywhere in the Bible.
9) Should researching and examining doctrines & teachings be forbidden?
km 9/07 p. 3 Question Box - "Does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet together to engage in Scriptural research...? No, it does not."
The scriptures command Christians to examine & test what they're taught about the scriptures:
1 John 4:1 - "...test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God."
Acts 17:11 - "Now these [the Beroeans] were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica,...carefully examining the scriptures daily to see whether these things were so."
10) Do "God's laws" depend upon an individual's home address?
wt 88 4/15 p. 28, pars. 13,14 - ".....since his being disfellowshipped does not end their blood ties...... normal family affections and dealings can continue..The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home."
Why do disfellowshipped J.W.'s who live at home continue to have a normal family life, but if they move out of that address, their family must regard them as dead and cut them off?
11) Were foreigners participants of the Law Covenant?
wt 98 2/1 p.19, par. 6 - "Further, other sheep lay hold of the new covenant just as foreigners of old laid hold of the Law covenant. In what way? Not by becoming participants in it but by submitting to the laws associated with it and benefiting from its arrangements."
Deuteronomy 29:10-15 clearly shows that this is a false teaching:
10All of you are stationed today before Jehovah your God, the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officers, every man of Israel,
11 your children, your wives, and your foreign resident who is in the midst of your camp, from the one gathering your wood to the one drawing your water.
12 You (everyone present!) are here in order to enter into the covenant of Jehovah your God and his oath, which Jehovah your God is making with you today
13 in order that he may establish you (everyone present!) today as his people and that he may be your God, just as he has promised you and just as he swore to your forefathers, Abraham, \* Isaac, and Jacob.
14 "Now it is not with you alone that I am making this covenant and this oath,
15 but it is with those standing here with us today before Jehovah our God and with those who are not here with us today."
Rahab and Ruth were foreigners and accepted as full members of the nation of Israel. If they hadn't been, the Messianic lineage would have been corrupted by non-Israelites. They and their descendants all received inheritances in the nation of Israel. The following scriptures conclusively demonstrate that the WTBTS contradicts and lies about those who become "one flock, one shepherd." (John 10:16)
(Ezekiel 47:21-23) “You are to apportion this land among yourselves, among the 12 tribes of Israel. You should distribute it for inheritance among yourselves and to the foreigners residing with you who have had children while living among you; and they will be like native-born Israelites to you. They will receive an inheritance among the tribes of Israel along with you. You should give the foreign resident an inheritance in the territory of the tribe where he has taken up residence,” declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah."
(Exodus 12:48, 49) If a foreigner resides with you and he wants to celebrate the Passover to Jehovah, every male of his must be circumcised. Then he may come near to celebrate it, and he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised man may eat of it. One law will apply for the native and for the foreigner who is residing among you.”
The foregoing scriptures present a very clear type/antitype regarding the literal nation of Israel and the "Israel of God," and illustrate the covenant promise to Abraham that all the nations of the earth would be blessed by means of him - not just natural Israelites/Jews. (Romans 2:28, 29; Galatians 6:16; Genesis 18:18) Anyone & everyone was invited to become a son of God. (see No.16 below)
12) Will "new" scrolls containing "new teachings" be opened during Christ's 1000 years reign?
w10 4/15 p. 11 par. 17 - "How will Jehovah use his holy spirit in the coming new world? That spirit will be the force behind the new scrolls that will be opened at that time. (Rev. 20:12) What will these contain? Evidently, Jehovah’s detailed requirements for us during the thousand years."
Nowhere in the scripture does it say "new" scrolls.
Nowhere in the scripture does it say that the scrolls contain "new teachings" or "detailed requirements" - they contain judgements.
Nowhere in the scripture does it say the scrolls are opened during the millennium. Verses 1-10 show that the scrolls are opened after Satan is destroyed.
13) Must the "two witness rule" be strictly applied by elders whenever someone is accused of sexually abusing a child?
If there are not two witnesses - or no confession is made - elders are instructed that nothing can be done to the accused. However, the organization is keen to abandon the "two witness rule" on two other occasions:
a) If two people see a member of the opposite sex entering another person's home and then leaving the following morning, an assumption is made that sexual intercourse has taken place, and both parties will be subjected to a Judicial Committee hearing based upon that assumption - not upon eyewitness testimony.
b) Also, elders can accept the testimony of one witness to a serious sin, if another witness can be found to a similar but separate sin by the same accused person. There is also the scriptural principle at Deuteronomy 22:27 where no one hears the woman screaming or sees her being raped.
14) Do Christians have to witness for Jehovah?
Dozens of scriptures say that Christians would be witnesses of Christ, while not one verse states they would be witnesses for Jehovah.
(Matthew 10:18) ....before governors and kings for my sake, for a witness....
(Mark 13:9) ...be put on the stand......for my sake, for a witness to them.
(Luke 24:48) You are to be witnesses of these things.
(John 1:15) John bore witness about him, (Jesus)
(John 5:37) And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me.
(John 8:18) ...bears witness about myself, and the Father..bears witness about me.”
(John 15:26, 27) ....bear witness about me; and you, in turn, are to bear witness....
(Acts 1:8) ..witnesses of me in Jerusalem,.....the most distant part of the earth.”
(Acts 9:15, 16) But the Lord said to him: “Go! because this man is a chosen vessel to me to bear my name [Jesus] to the nations as well as to kings and the sons of Israel. For I will show him plainly how many things he must suffer for my name.” [Jesus]
(Acts 10:39) And we are witnesses of all the things he did.......
(Acts 10:43) To him all the prophets bear witness....
(Acts 13:31) .......These are now his witnesses to the people.
(Acts 22:15) ...because you are to be a witness for him (Jesus) to all men......
(Acts 22:20) ...and when the blood of Stephen your witness...
(Acts 23:11) ....witness about me in Jerusalem,.....also bear witness in Rome.”
(Acts 26:16) .....a witness .....................respecting me.
(1 Corinthians 1:6) ...the witness about the Christ has been made firm among you,
(1 Timothy 2:6, 7) ...this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time.
(2 Timothy 1:8) ....the witness about our Lord.......
(1 John 5:9) ....this is the witness God gives, the witness.....about his Son.
(Revelation 1:9) ......bearing witness concerning Jesus.
(Revelation 12:17) ....have the work of bearing witness concerning Jesus.
(Revelation 17:6) ......and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus.
(Revelation 19:10) ....witnessing concerning Jesus...the witness concerning Jesus...”
(Revelation 20:4) ...for the witness they gave about Jesus......
The perfect Christ was assigned to be God's witness, and in turn, imperfect Christians were assigned to witness for Jesus Christ.
(Revelation 1:5) "....Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,”
(Revelation 3:14) "....the faithful and true witness.."
(Revelation 19:11) "And the one seated on it is called Faithful and True,.."
Also, Christians were never told to do anything in/for God's name. The following verses show that Christ's name alone was always to be the priority for Christians:
(Isa. 62:2) ...a new name.....Jehovah’s own mouth will designate. (see Acts 11:26)
(Matthew 5:11) “Happy are you when people...say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake.
(Matthew 12:21) Indeed, in his name nations will hope.”

(Revelation 2:13) ......and yet you keep on holding fast my name,. . .
( \* The name of Jesus was to be "publicly declared," not Jehovah. See 27 "witness" scriptures)
1 John 4:1 gives a very important warning: "...do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God..."
15) Will Jesus' ransom really correspond with what Adam lost?
(Matthew 20:28) "Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his life as a ransom in exchange for many.” (see also Mark 10:45; Romans 3:24; 8:23; 1 Corinthians 1:30; Colossians 1:13, 14: Ephesians 1:7,14; 4:30; 1 Timothy 2:5, 6; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 9:15)
(Luke 19:10) "For the Son of man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
(1 Timothy 2:5,6) "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all."
According to the WTBTS, Jesus' ransom price buys back far more than what Adam lost, because 144,000 "witnesses of Jehovah" will eventually become Melchizedek-type king/priests in heaven.
A ransom can never buy back more than what was lost.
16) Who Are the "Other Sheep?"
At John 10:16 Jesus said, “And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd."
These 'other sheep' can be identified by "testing the inspired statements."
At Matthew 10:5,6, Jesus had previously given his disciples this order, “Do not go off into the road of the nations, and do not enter into a Samaritan city; but, instead, go continually to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
He also told them, at Matthew 15:24 - “I was not sent forth to any but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
On both of these occasions, Jesus identifies the only group of people to whom he was to preach - the Jews. This fulfilled Daniel's prophecy (Daniel 9:25-27) about the old covenant being kept operative for the Jews for 42 months after Jesus' death. Only after that time period had elapsed would the Gentiles be called in.
Paul said at Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the good news; it is, in fact, God’s power for salvation to everyone having faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." (Gentiles) He then repeated this truth: Romans 2:10 - "for the Jew first and also for the Greek".
The Insight Book very concisely summarised the identity of the 'other sheep':
"Jesus’ sacrificial death on the torture stake also provided the basis for canceling the Mosaic Law, which divided the Jews from the non-Jews. Therefore, upon becoming Christians, both peoples could be at peace with God and with one another. The apostle Paul wrote: “[Jesus] is our peace, he who made the two parties one and destroyed the wall in between that fenced them off. By means of his flesh he abolished the enmity, the Law of commandments consisting in decrees, that he might create the two peoples in union with himself into one new man and make peace; and that he might fully reconcile both peoples in one body to God through the torture stake." (it-2 p. 592 Peace)
Therefore, Jesus' "other sheep" (non-Jews) would unite with Jews as one flock, under one shepherd. (John 10:16) By stating that they would become "one flock, one shepherd," Jesus showed there would be no distinctions or classes amongst his sheep. He said, "All you are brothers". (Matt. 23:8)
The true context of Jesus' words at John 10:16 becomes abundantly clear by reading from John 9:40.
Jesus was speaking with the Jews and Pharisees who were following him around. He was not having a personal chat with his “little flock" of apostles/disciples. From that verse onwards, Jesus is speaking of all those who could become his sheep, starting with 'this fold', (the Jews) the people to whom he was addressing.
The apostle Paul's words to the Ephesian congregation expand on the details of Jesus' “one flock”: Ephesians 4:4, 5 - ”One body (Christians) there is, and one spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism”. There wouldn't be two hopes (heaven & earth) and there wouldn't be two different baptisms. At their water baptism, all Christians would figuratively “die” to their former sinful ways and spirit, (Romans 6:2,4,6,7,8,10, & 11) and henceforth, be impelled by God's Holy spirit.
John 3:5 makes it very clear - "Jesus answered: “Most truly I say to you, unless anyone is born from water and spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God."
17) During the last days, who will carry out the miraculous worldwide proclamation of the good news "to all those who dwell on the earth, to every nation, to every tribe, to every tongue, and to every people?" (including North Korea, China, and every Islamic country on earth)
According to the organisation, the WTBTS was commissioned to fulfil this miracle.
w04 12/15 p. 18 par. 5 - "Of course, the angels are not preaching directly. Jesus gave humans (the WTBTS) this weighty commission."
The Bible disagrees:
(Revelation 11:3) "I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy for 1,260 days dressed in sackcloth." (Revelation 14:6) "And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, and he had everlasting good news to declare to those who dwell on the earth, to every nation and tribe and tongue and people."
18) Who was allowed into the Most Holy?
w09 9/15 p. 27 pars. 8-9 - "The high priest entered the Most Holy compartment of the temple, where only he could go."
However, according to the self-appointed "slave," there are now going to be 144,001 High Priests:
w23 October p. 28 - "These 144,000 are to serve as priests in the heavens with Jesus....After Jesus was resurrected, he entered the Most Holy of the spiritual temple, where all the anointed (144,000) eventually join him."

Game in 10: Edmundson, McMann, and Holmberg impress in Maple Leafs' big win over Edmonton
[Anthony Petrielli MLHS]
The shorthanded Maple Leafs impressively built a 5-0 lead against a red-hot Oilers team before making life a lot more interesting than it needed to be in the third period.
With another game tomorrow night, the Leafs ideally would’ve coasted in the third period and preserved their legs. You also would have liked to see them make Ilya Samsonov’s life easy down the stretch of the game. Of course, the two points are great, but a big part of the story tonight is whether Samsonov is okay after leaving the third period injured.
Sheldon Keefe says Samsonov "looks like he's going to be fine."
— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) March 24, 2024
Samsonov’s situation aside, this was a good Leafs win featuring great individual performances from Bobby McMann, Pontus Holmberg, and Joel Edmundson, in particular.
Your game in 10:
  1. Earlier this week against the Philadelphia Flyers, Sheldon Keefe started Knies – Tavares – Robertson for the opening draw against a hungry, desperate opponent. The Leafs won the draw, the puck was chipped up to Knies at center, and he wasn’t ready for the defenseman, who aggressively stepped up (it is how the Flyers play, and Knies should have been well aware of it). The Flyers promptly scored after the turnover (several other Leafs were also poor on the sequence), and it set the tone for the game as the Leafs were chasing it from that point onward.
Knies didn’t start the opening draw the next game against Washington — the Leafs scored on that shift — but he did tonight… and he took a penalty. The puck came up Knies’ wall, he wasn’t in a good position, McDavid cut in, and Knies was sloppy with his stick, tripping up McDavid’s feet. With the way the Leafs’ PK has been going — and considering the Oilers’ elite PP — it’s the type of start you really need to avoid, and it was instantly hold-your-breath time.
Fortunately, the Leafs PK, as well as Ilya Samsonov, stood tall. Samsonov was clearly dialed in early, especially when Bouchard ripped a slapshot through traffic and he was able to glove it cleanly with no rebound despite two Oilers in front.
Joel Edmundson also ran McDavid pretty hard with a bone-crunching hit on the wall on the penalty kill. Connor Dewar looked to be settling into the penalty-killing role; his angles were excellent, and he was closing on attackers with good pressure. Those are two relatively new additions that the Leafs are really counting on to help fix the penalty kill.
The Oilers carried momentum from the early power play even though they didn’t score, but Samsonov kept them at bay. It’s not the start the Leafs would’ve drawn up, but they dug in and showed real resolve to keep it a scoreless game.
  1. After the morning skate, William Nylander said he thought the neutral zone would be the key to the game. Early on, this was particularly evident as the Leafs caused a turnover in neutral ice and scored.
The Oilers were dictating play early and held the puck behind their own net on a line-change sequence. They tried to move up ice, but Nylander forced the play up the wall and Timothy Liljegren aggressively stepped up just above the Leafs’ blue line to cause a turnover.
From there, the Leafs started a breakout sequence. Tavares collected the puck and passed it to the far corner to Jake McCabe, who went up the wall to Bobby McMann, who passed it cross-ice through the neutral zone to Nylander. Liljegren, who started the turnover, jumped up and Nylander recognized it as the Edmonton defenseman stepped up on him. Nylander chipped it up the wall for Liljegren, who won the race.
There has been so much talk about handedness lately, and this is yet another example of why you want it properly aligned. A lefty isn’t as aggressive on the stick for the original neutral-zone turnover, and a lefty doesn’t win the puck. As a righty, Liljegren did and then chipped it down low, where Tavares made an excellent play to shield the puck with his body, get it to his backhand, and find Bobby McMann all alone in front as the trailer.
From there, it was a simple one-timer home for McMann, who has 10 goals in his last 19 games. The Leafs are clearly banking on McMann as a contributor, and so far, he is delivering.
  1. The Oilers kept pushing for offense after the Leafs took the initial lead, but Ilya Samsonov was excellent again. Matthew Knies was again weak on the wall before the Oilers fired a shot from the high slot that trickled through Samsonov, but Jake McCabe was there to clean it up. On another play, Noah Gregor didn’t keep the puck in and the Oilers went on a 4v2 as a result, but they over-passed it and Liljegren broke up the play.
As the period went along, though, the Leafs started to create opportunities and string together some shifts. William Nylander didn’t realize he had an empty net tap-in on one rush, electing to pull it backhand and psyching himself out. Gregor had a down-low 2v1 but had blinders on, shooting it instead of passing it, and Knies had a rebound chance in front.
Another one of those chances should have been a 2v1 as Tavares made a nice inside-out move on Bouchard on a loose-puck race as Bouchard tried to run interference, and the refs called a penalty on Tavares. It was a bad call, but the Leafs’ PK responded again.
On the first kill, Joel Edmundson was physical with McDavid. On the second kill, it was Draisaitl’s turn to be on the receiving end of Edmundson’s physicality. Edmundson was physical, he was getting in lanes, he was clearing pucks, and he was a force shorthanded. Since the trade, he has generally been fine with a few rough moments sprinkled in, but he was an actual difference-maker tonight.
Edmundson’s physicality started to rub off on his teammates. In the second half of the penalty, Benoit took a good run at Evander Kane on the wall. A second huge Leafs kill with some real emotion and physicality to it started to swing the game for the team, and it came from a shorthanded unit they desperately need to start turning it around.
  1. Last Saturday against Carolina, the Leafs couldn’t score on the power play while their penalty kill gave up multiple goals. This Saturday, the penalty kill dug in, and when the Leafs finally got a power play, they capitalized.
The power play was direct, looking to attack lanes off the half-wall while using William Nylander down low in Marner’s usual place. Some of their struggles lately have been the byproduct of the lack of a down-low play with all of Nylander – Liljegren – Matthews up top, allowing the opposition to sell out. With Nylander down low, it changed the dynamic, as did adding Max Domi, another passer, to the top unit.
Off a sequence starting with a Domi shot from the half-wall, the puck went to Auston Matthews, who poked it back up to Liljegren. Liljegren patiently settled the puck down, picked his head up, and ripped a puck through some traffic into Nylander’s general vicinity in front. All alone, Nylander’s crafty deflection benefited from also going off his skate, but it was a nice tip and a nice shot from Liljegren, who offers a calibre of point shot that Rielly doesn’t possess.
The 2-0 goal made it a two-point period for Liljegren, who is up to 14 points in his last 16 games. The goal also gave Nylander a five-game goal streak.
  1. Down 2-0, the Oilers came out for the second and carried play early. Their best chance came off a brutal Tavares turnover behind the net to Corey Perry, who came out with the puck and found Kane in the slot, but Simon Benoit closed and forced a flubbed shot. On another play off the rush, Warren Foegele stepped into a one-timer, but Ilya Samsonov flashed the glove. The Oilers also created another chance in the slot, but Benoit laid out for a head-first shot block attempt and the puck went wide.
As the Oilers pressured, the Leafs again were able to counterattack and capitalize on sloppy defensive play by the Oilers. We’ve already mentioned some questionable plays by Matthew Knies in the first period (there was another where, instead of chipping it off the wall for Matthews — who had speed — Knies held it and Matthews was forced to slam on the brakes to stay onside). It wasn’t particularly surprising when Keefe switched up the line and moved Pontus Holmberg up to play with Matthews and Domi.
Keefe was instantly rewarded with a goal from Holmberg. I’m not entirely sure what Evan Bouchard was thinking on the play, but he seemed afraid of Matthews lifting his stick, so he jumped around him and Matthews simply went straight to the puck and snatched it. Matthews found Domi all alone in the high slot, where Domi froze the goalie and slid it over to Holmberg for an empty net tap-in.
This was another example of Domi’s great fake-shot move we’ve seen several times this season.
  1. Up 3-0, we saw the usual referee game management come into play. This time, on a weak call against Conor Timmins for cross-checking, it was more of a dive than a penalty.
Again, Joel Edmundson was physically involved, going after Draisaitl and starting a mele after the whistle. Jake McCabe was also in the mix as the game’s temperature ratcheted up significantly.
As the penalty kill ended, the puck came out of the zone for a delayed offside, but Adam Henrique didn’t want to touch the puck for an all-the-way-down faceoff, so he hesitated. Timmins, who took the penalty, stormed out of the box and raced to the puck, chipping it up and springing the Leafs on a 3v1.
Bobby McMann made a great play to wait out the sliding defender and put it past him, and Pontus Holmberg was again there on the doorstep to tap the puck in, potting his sixth goal of the season and second of the night about three minutes apart.
Holmberg has become a real Swiss Swedish army knife for the Leafs, moving up to the top line at times, penalty killing in this scenario, and chipping in some goals. He even started the game at center. We can really see the benefit of a player capable of moving up and down the lineup depending on the situation.
  1. Up 4-0, the Leafs weren’t done. William Nylander grabbed some headlines earlier in the day for his quote “Not tonight” about Zach Hyman’s 50-goal push, but to me, this is why he is great for this market. It understandably made some fans clench, but Nylander came out and played an excellent game. This stuff really doesn’t get to him.
Up 4-0, the Oilers were pushing to break the shutout and get rolling. They hemmed the Leafs in for a shift, but the puck went to Nylander, who took over. He brought the puck behind the net and led the breakout, hitting Timothy Liljegren for a pass up the wall and then shooting right up the middle of the ice. Liljegren made a nice cross-ice pass to John Tavares, who saw Nylander streaking and slipped a puck through to him. Nylander took it in the middle of the ice, stopped up, froze everyone, and hit Bobby McMann on the far side. McMann ripped a cannon of a shot short side to make it 5-0.
We discussed it on the podcast this week, but the next step in McMann’s emergence was a big performance against a good team. It’s one thing to score against the Blues, Ducks, and Habs of the world; it’s another to do it against a top-10 club in the league. The Oilers are one of those teams, and he was excellent in this game with two goals and an assist to show for it.
  1. Down 5-0, the Oilers were frustrated — particularly with Joel Edmundson, who was going at it with the Oilers’ top players all night. He was a major story in this game with his physicality and spunk he brought the ice for the Leafs. Nurse went over the edge at the end of the second period, going after Edmundson unprompted after the buzzer. Nurse was handed a 10-minute misconduct for his troubles, which was a feather in the cap for Edmundson.
The Leafs didn’t score on the two-minute power play to start the period before the Oilers went to a power play of their own. This time, they finally broke through.
The Leafs penalty kill was off to a good start, but then Liljegren lost his stick and the Oilers took advantage. McDavid hunted the matchup and found Hyman in front for a deflection. It was a bit of a tough break more than a penalty-killing breakdown for a unit that looked good up until that point.
A few minutes later, the Oilers went to another power play. The Leafs’ top penalty-killing unit did well, but when they changed off, McDavid stayed on. When the Oilers regained the zone, it was too easy for McDavid to cut in, causing a breakdown and a backdoor tap-in for Corey Perry (naturally) to score.
Last week against Carolina, I thought the refereeing opened the door for the Hurricanes’ comeback, but in this one, it was the Leafs’ own doing. Conor Timmins shot it over the glass, and Connor Dewar took an offensive-zone tripping penalty. Two careless, needless penalties gave the Oilers some life.
  1. A three-goal lead with half the period or so to play at home should be more than enough, but the Oilers kept pushing and the Leafs didn’t generate much zone time of their own. The best defense is a good offense, and they needed to kill the clock against the Oilers’ backup goalie rather than retreating and allowing the Oilers to dictate the play. The Leafs created a few chances on the counterattack — namely, a Dewar-Gregor 2v1 that didn’t finish with a shot on net and a Knies chance in all alone — but it was one-and-done from Toronto rather than getting it in deep, forechecking, and cycling.
Eventually, the Oilers continued to pressure, and after an icing, Edmonton pulled their goalie with just under five minutes left (the right call by them). The Leafs got it out but they never got it deep, and only two of their forwards changed. Matthew Knies hung around — seemingly hunting the empty-net attempt — and got stuck on the ice for well over a minute as the Oilers gained the zone again.
Bouchard made a spin play on Knies off the wall before McDavid hit Draisaitl for a backdoor play to make it 5-3. The goal against is one thing, but Ilya Samsonov stretched to make the save and didn’t get up afterward.
Up 5-0 at home going into the third, the Leafs sat back, took some bad penalties, let the Oilers dictate the whole period, and ended up with their starter, who was playing an excellent game, leaving the ice hurt.
  1. With three and a half minutes to play, Martin Jones entered the net ice cold as the Oilers were starting to believe. Last week, I didn’t understand or agree with Keefe putting out a line centered by Tavares right after the Hurricanes made it a one-goal game (they were ultimately on for the late tying goal). This time, he put out a proper checking line of Connor Dewar, David Kampf, and Bobby McMann alongside Joel Edmundson and Jake McCabe.
The Oilers gained the zone and created some chances, but the Leafs’ checking unit boxed out well and got in lanes. There was one chance where the Oilers hit the post on a bang-bang play, but at least the Leafs had their top checkers on the ice.
When the puck cleared, Keefe followed up with Pontus Holmberg – Auston Matthews – William Nylander / Morgan Rielly – Timothy Liljegren. They kept things at bay against the Oilers’ second six-man unit, but they iced the puck and the Oilers sent their big guns back out. It didn’t matter as Matthews eventually broke up a pass and scored an empty-netter from his own end to finish off the game.
The three-goal period shouldn’t have happened — it leaves a bit of a bittersweet taste in the mouth amid a great win — but the game was still very much in control up two with three minutes left and up three with five minutes left. Considering last weekend’s loss to Carolina, the Leafs don’t get the full benefit of the doubt and will need to do a better job moving forward of eating the clock in the offensive zone with the lead.

The Mediator Got OUT-MEDIATED! 😂🤣
JW's are mostly unaware of the GB's hijacking of the Mediator doctrine, whereby they've created the position of ANOTHER Mediator, REPLACING the original understanding that Jesus is the Mediator of ALL. There is ONE mediator between God & men, NO human mediators for men mentioned!
