2024.05.14 15:01 FelicitySmoak_ Tuesday, May 14, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 11

Trial Day 11
Katherine Jackson, Rebbie and Trent are at court.
Choreographer Travis Payne & Katherine Jackson spoke briefly in the courtroom before the jury came in. They seemed cordial
Travis Payne Testimony
AEG direct
Payne is wearing a black jacket with a gold emblem on the shoulders with the word "MJ" & a pair of wings
Payne said he was concerned about MJ missing rehearsals. He didn't know why he wasn't showing up, but MJ was also working on an album and a book
Payne said he did not think that Jackson had a problem abusing prescription medications. He acknowledged that Jackson missed rehearsals and he saw the singer shivering or appearing cold in some of his final rehearsals
He worked with Jackson beginning in the 1990's and testified that he never saw Jackson drink alcohol or take any medications. Michael also never discussed his medical treatments, Payne said
Payne told the jury he advised MJ he was looking thin.
"Michael said he was 'getting down to my fighting weight', which I took to mean that he was preparing for the performances", Payne testified. "I had no reason to doubt him"
Payne says he was satisfied with the response.
Payne said there was one day (6/19) when MJ was cold. He thought the frustration had him on edge. When Jackson needed to be layered in blankets and required a heater to be comfortable, Payne said, he believed Michael was merely fighting a cold.
"No one else was cold. He had flu-like symptoms"
"Sometimes he was tired and lethargic and had to be, not convinced, but supported throughout rehearsals," Payne recalled
Payne said that in April, May & June, MJ missed 5 rehearsals with the whole group. He said one time Ortega sent Michael home
Bina shows an email from Ortega to Gongaware on Jun 14:
"Were you aware that Michael's doctor didn't permit him to attend rehearsal yesterday? Without invading his privacy, it might be a good idea to talk to his doctor to make sure everything he requires is in place. Who is responsible for Michael getting proper nourishment/vitamins/therapy every day? Personally, I feel he should have a top Nutritionist and Physical Therapist working with him on a regular basis. The demand on this guy is mentally and physically extraordinary! The show requirements exhaust our 20 year olds. Please don't underestimate the need to stay on top of this"
Another part of the same email chain, from Gongaware:
"Frank and I have discussed it already and have requested a face-to-face meeting w/ the doctor... We want to remind him that it's AEG not Michael Jackson who's paying his salary We want him to understand what is expected of him. He has been dodging Frank so far
Payne said his understanding was that AEG was paying Dr. Murray's salary not Michael. The doctor was there to oversee many things, Payne said. Payne explained he didn't have much reason to question Dr. Murray since he thought that a doctor selected to work with Michael was top notch.
Bina asked Payne whether he ever met Conrad Murray. The choreographer says he met Murray twice. Payne says the first time he met Dr. Murray was at the Carolwood house.
"I was going up the steps, Dr. Murray going downstairs, Michael introduced us."
Payne was coming up from the basement to the middle floor. Studio was at the basement. Payne said he never went to the top floor of the house. He says the second time was at the Staples Center, after a rehearsal and Jackson was leaving for the day. Both meetings were brief.
When asked how Michael performed on June 23 & 24:
"He was having his process, I didn't expect him to be like he would in front of a crowd," Payne explained. "He was not at show standards ... I didn't expect him to be as he would be in front of a crowd."
Payne: "It ebbed and flowed. Some days were good, some days were not as good."
The last two days were good.
"I thought he was in his way to the goals he set himself," Payne told the jury.
He didn't have any question that MJ would be able to perform , adding that he and others were impressed while watching Jackson rehearse at Staples Center on June 23/24, 2009.
Payne described the day MJ died: He was headed to rehearsal at Michael's home, got a call from his mother who said she saw reports on the news. Payne heard news on the radio, called Staples Center spoke to Stacy Walker, she said they were rehearsing. He was told to go to Staples.
"We were optimistic of his arrival," Payne said explaining they were expecting Michael to rehearse at the Staples Center.
Payne said Ortega got a series of calls. He remembers Kenny saying:
'tell me something that will make me know it's you and that this is true'

" I remember him (Kenny Ortega) collapsing in his seat and crying," Payne testified
Payne said he never saw Michael drink alcohol or take medication but
"Sometimes, in rehearsal, Michael would appear just a little loopy, under the influence of something, but mostly when he would come to the rehearsals from the dermatologist," Payne testified.
That happened two to four times in the weeks before his death, he said. Payne told that he didn't think Jackson had a problem with prescription drugs
"Michael was undergoing personal cosmetic procedures, so he could feel great and do a good job," Payne said.
Payne also said he appeared groggy in the morning sometimes, which he attributed to lack of sleep
"Mr. Jackson just explained to me that he had trouble sleeping, that he was tired, and that satisfied me," Payne testified.
He stated that he's not sure how much weight MJ had lost
Payne mentioned one day in particular at a meeting with Andre Crouch and singers, MJ seemed a little out of it
Payne said at one point, he & others tried to bring in a top physical therapist who works with Olympic athletes to help Michael. Jackson didn't work w/physical therapist flown in for him.
"At the last minute we realized that Michael was not going to go through with it. He was just not comfortable with the invasion of personal space."
Bina played a clip of This Is It from Jun 4 showing the green screen and making of "Drill" and Michael talking about the cool moves, dancing. Payne said the idea was to show the rehearsals and how things came together. The footage itself wasn't altered, but there was editing. Payne said they picked the best of the rehearsal to include in the documentary. He wanted to reshoot some scenes but was not allowed. Payne, who was an associate producer on the This Is It documentary, said the footage of Jackson had not been retouched or altered.
Jackson cross
Attorney Brian Panish cross examined Payne. He asked if Michael ever performed the entire show from beginning to end. Payne said "No"
"Was he ready to perform for an audience?", Panish asked.
"I thought he was on his way to the goals he had set for himself," Payne answered. "All I saw was improvement and getting closer to the goals"
Payne's impression was that MJ loved being a father. He said he saw the beauty of their relationships, loyalty to one another.
"When we rehearsed, we had meals together," Payne recalled, talking about Michael and all three children.
Payne thought the relationship between MJ and Prince was awesome, Michael was a proud father, great to see how they interacted. Prince wanted to be a director, Michael would point out things to him during rehearsal should that be his career, Payne remembered.
As to Paris Jackson, Payne said he saw a very protective young lady, smart, astute, with knowledge of the production, very hands on. Paris, who was 11 at the time, was
"a very retentive young lady who was very, very smart, very astute," Payne testified. "She had full knowledge of the day-to-day operations, from the time of lunch and what it was going to be, she was hands on -- far beyond her age," he said. "She had a lot of responsibility, which I think she welcomed"
Payne said she was "the female of the house," and also "a daddy's girl."
"She really loved her father," he said. "At that time, she was coming to find out his global successes and presence, so she would wear her Michael Jackson t-shirt, headband and bag," he said.
It was Paris who would bless the food when they were have lunch with their father at home, he said.
"She was always the most vocal of the three children and was very concerned about many of the details of the house, was the temperature correct, what do you want to eat," Payne testified. "She just handled a lot for her young age"
Blanket, who was 7 when his father died, was the most quiet of the three. He liked to watch his father rehearsing his dances with Payne in the basement studio of their home, Payne said.
"He was quiet, but always right there with his dad," he said.
Michael guided and mentored him. Payne said he would be proud if MJ was his father and agreed the children suffered a tremendous loss. When rehearsing with Jackson at his Holmby Hills residence, Payne said the singer clearly delighted in being a father and shared meals with all three
"I saw the beauty of their relationships. I saw their loyalty to their father, I saw his loyalty to them. Their father enlightened them and taught them", he testified. "I was very proud to see Michael as such a loving father."
Panish: "Was Paris a Daddy's girl?"
Payne: "Yes, I believe so"
His description of the close relationship Paris (15) and Prince (16) had with their father four years ago could foreshadow the significance of the children's testimony later in the trial.
Payne always carries a video camera with him and shot videos of rehearsal. AEG took the footage that Payne shot and never returned to him. Email from Randy to Paul:
"Make sure you take out the shots of Michael in that red jacket... He looks way too thin and skeletal."
Payne said he was not aware of the email. He said Michael looked thin, but not skeletal. He doesn't know if Paul/Randy took any the footage out. The email was not displayed for the jury
As for Michael's relationship with Katherine, Payne said
"there's no secret that he loved his mother very much. It is kind of common knowledge"

"Karen Faye is a make up artist. She designed the make up, was always there when Michael was there", Payne testified.
Payne said Faye and MJ had a long term working relationship. They spent a lot of personal time together. Faye was concerned and frustrated with how Michael looked. She went to Payne kind of in an aggressive way. Payne told her to report to Ortega.
Payne said he wanted MJ to have a physical therapist, nutritionist, massage therapist, and have his family around. He said this was a different scenario.
"This was the first time MJ was working with AEG," Payne testified, saying he had always been hired by MJJ production before.
Payne said this was the first time Michael was not the sole producer of the show. Payne started working without a signed contract. He was being paid by AEG. Panish showed Payne's written contract. It is between Payne and AEG, beginning April 1, 2009. The contract said only AEG could cancel it. He testified that there was a delay in his contract with AEG because the salary was not in line with his standard charges, but that things worked out after he had a conversation with Jackson. Payne also said he believed AEG was paying Murray's salary, not Jackson
Payne was hired and paid by AEG. His contract was with AEG.
Panish: "Who could fire you. AEG?"
Payne: "I'm sure"
Things became heated when Panish inquired about a text message Karen Faye sent to Payne that accused him of lying to the media after Michael's death. He said earlier Faye had approached him in an "aggressive" way about her concern for Jackson's health but he told her to take her concerns to Ortega.
"I do not remember receiving a text message from Karen Faye asking why I was lying to the media," Payne explained.
Panish: "Were you upset when MJ died?"
Payne: "Yes"
During cross-examination, Payne was shown several photos of premieres for the This Is It documentary .Panish shows a picture of Payne at the red carpet premiere. He agreed he was happy about the premiere. In one, Ortega & AEG executive Randy Phillips flank Jackson's manager, Frank DiLeo, who has a cigar hanging out of his mouth. All three are grinning. Brian Panish, the attorney for Jackson's family, remarked that everyone looked pretty happy
Payne said he wasn't privy to details of what was expected of Dr. Murray. AEG was producepromoter, but MJ was the star, had to be happy
Panish reminded Payne that he had testified in his deposition that AEG was
"trying to protect its investment"

"I don't have a dog in this race so I'm not on either side", an aggravated Payne countered adding that he felt Panish was being aggressive. "I'm just saying I don't want to be painted as somebody who's trying to mask anything".
After several hours of testy exchanges with Panish, his voice quivered and he dabbed his eyes with a tissue.
"I'm just trying to have a conversation with you and tell the truth."
Panish asked Payne if defendants' attorney approached him during lunch to show him some documents. He said yes, he saw parts of his deposition
Under cross examination, Payne acknowledged that some of Jackson's behavior, including grogginess, lethargy, insomnia and occasional paranoia, were possible symptoms of prescription drug abuse. He also said that despite testifying earlier that he worked with Jackson one-on-one five days a week, he couldn't recall how many rehearsals the singer actually attended
Panish after lunch break got Travis Payne to concede Jackson wasn't present for a May 19, 2009 rehearsal. Payne also conceded that Jackson was a no-show for a June 22, 2009 rehearsal. Panish confronted Payne saying that yesterday he said he was with MJ at a dance studio on May 19, that they were up on their feet & danced.
Panish: "Sir, Michael was not with you May 19, 2009, was he?"
Payne: "No"
Panish: "He was at the doctor"
Payne: "If you're saying, I'm not disputing"
Panish said that on May 19, Michael was having a cyst removed at Dr. Klein's office, so he could not have been rehearsing with Payne.
Panish then said on Jun 22 MJ wasn't there either, "was he?"
Payne said he didn't know.
Panish said MJ was at another doctor's office
Payne said he may have made a mistake about Jackson's whereabouts & he didn't know his personal schedule. Travis Payne had testified yesterday that he and Jackson ran through certain songs on May 19th. He said today he was testifying based on the schedule and notes he compiled and that his recollection might be wrong
"We're human, sometimes we make mistakes," Payne explained, saying he's not disputing that Michael was or wasn't there on those dates.
Payne said there was always something for Michael to do.
"He needed to come to rehearsal, it was part of the job"
Payne said Michael had a hard time picking up some of the material. He was having trouble learning dances, Payne says. Email from Ortega to Gongaware:
"He has been slow at grabbing hold of the work"
Jackson was having trouble learning dances, choreographer Travis Payne says
"Prior to June, I noticed Mr. Jackson was thinner than I recognized him," Payne said, noting he never saw sudden weight change in MJ.
Second time Payne saw Dr. Murray was the night before Michael died at Staples Center.
"I wanted Michael to go home and go to sleep" Payne recalls. Payne said something about Murray felt off, Payne said. "He didn't feel like an official doctor"
Payne knew MJ had sleeping problems and that Dr. Murray was treating him for that. Ortega also knew; Payne thought Gongaware was aware too. Payne also said he and Ortega knew that Jackson was having sleep problems. Attorney Brian Panish asks if AEG executives knew. There were several objections, and Payne was only allowed to answer "No" as to whether Paul Gongaware knew about Michael's sleep problems
Panish asked Payne about choosing Jackson's dancers for This Is It. Payne says they were whittled down from 5,000 applicants. Applicants submitted video clips and their submissions were used to cull down potential dancers from there. Payne said they received 5,000 applications for dancers, about 2,500 showed up for the audition. He taught them some dance moves, and the pool was further narrowed down. Michael chose the dancers
Panish then asked Payne whether he knew how many doctors AEG interviewed to work with Jackson on This Is It. "No", Payne says. Payne also says he isn't aware how much interviewing or investigation into Murray that AEG did.(Panish's point appears to be that there was more scrutiny of backup dancers than Conrad Murray)
During preparations for This Is It, Michael at times seemed "under the influence of something" and once couldn't take the stage because he appeared incoherent, Payne testified.
Payne said he was aware that Jackson had problems sleeping and chalked up the singer's sometimes erratic behavior to sleep aids or sedatives from his dermatologist visits.
"You have to understand that one always says hindsight is 20/20. In the moment I had no inkling of what, ultimately, what was revealed until Mr. Jackson's passing", he said
Payne saw Michael tired and fatigued. He agreed that those symptoms could be signs of drug addiction. Payne was aware that MJ was losing weight during rehearsals and he had not seeing him lose weight like that before.
"He was not in great physical shape and was sore, working up his stamina. Lack of sleep and proper nourishment were starting to show", Payne said.
Payne says at one point, he told Kenny Ortega that Jackson appeared "assisted" (meaning that he thought he was on drugs\meds)
Payne said some people were concerned about the goals not being met, including Randy Phillips and Paul Gongaware. Payne learned what Demerol was after MJ died. He also remembers a mention of Demerol in the song "Morphine".
Panish asked if MJ knew the lyrics of his songs.
"I think he did, he knew most of them, but he wanted to have a Teleprompter for safety. He didn't want to make any mistakes, to refresh his memory. Also to use for sequence of songs",Payne said.
Payne agreed that it was very unusual for Michael to have a Teleprompter with the lyrics of his own songs. He never used it before. Payne didn't specify which songs Jackson wanted the teleprompter for
Payne said a body double was requested for Michael. Misha Gabriel was his body double, but shorter than him. Some of the scenes in the documentary are with the body double, Payne testified. Payne remembers at the Culver Studios in Smooth Criminal there was a stunt and Misha was asked to jump through a glass plate
Payne said most the time, MJ was present at rehearsals. "It wasn't a big deal," he expressed
Panish showed an email from the band leader Michael Bearden:
"Michael is not in shape enough yet to sing this stuff live and dance at the same time. He can use the ballads to sing live and get his stamina back up, Once he's healthy enough and has more strength I Have full confidence he can sing the majority of the show live. His voice sounds amazing right now, he needs to build it back up. I still need all big dance numbers to be in the system so we can concentrate on choreography."
Payne was aware that AEG was considering in mid June pulling the plug on the show. He said Michael looked exhausted & paranoid on Jun 19. Jackson's condition and missed rehearsals led to talk within the last 10 days of Jackson's life that AEG Live LLC, which was promoting "This Is It," might cancel the concert series.
"It was 'We've got to get this together or the plug may be pulled,'" Payne says
Payne was working for AEG and said he relayed his concerns about Jackson's possible prescription drug use and that he was exhibiting troubling signs of insomnia, weight loss and paranoia in his final days to tour director Kenny Ortega. Jackson was struggling to get into shape for the shows, and Payne said his voice coach suggested using a voice track for fast-paced songs until the singer's stamina improved.
Payne went to Michael's house on June 20. He was cold and had to light the fireplace and rub his hand and feet to warm himself up
Panish showed a picture of Michael on June 24 rehearsing "Thriller"; Payne said MJ improved but was not at his best yet.
Panish: "Around June 20, was Ortega in the mindset that Michael Jackson was not ready for this?" Payne: "Yes"
Payne said Michael was not ready, it was not the Michael he knew. He died four days later. But he didn't see anything that alarmed him on June 23/24
Panish:" Did you see that Michael was getting pressured to get everything done in the last days?" Payne: "Yes"
Payne said he could sense something was wrong, but didn't know what it was. He said Jackson's performances in the final days of his life were impressive, and it felt
"like we were definitely on an upswing"

"I never doubted Michael because he was the architect of this and he wanted to do it, so part of my responsibility was to help him get there", Payne said, his voice racked with emotion.
Panish ended his direct examination of choreographer Travis Payne with three questions.
Panish: "Did you see that Michael Jackson appeared to be pressured to get everything done at the Staples last rehearsals?"
"Yes," Payne said
Panish: "The pressure about the shows started to manifest itself physically in Michael Jackson?"
"Yes," Payne replied.
Panish:" You could sense that something was wrong, you just didn't know what it was?"
Payne responded "Yes."
AEG re-direct
Payne's demeanor changed after Panish finished questioning him. He was holding back tears when the AEG attorney started re-direct examination. For the next several moments, Payne blinked and dabbed both eyes with a tissue. It was the first time he'd gotten emotional on the stand.
Bina in re-direct asked: "Do you think you could get him there?"
Payne: "Absolutely!"
Bina asked Payne again about how many rehearsals Jackson attended. Payne said MJ was present a significant amount of the days he was scheduled to work but he couldn't recall dates, precisely how many that Jackson attended.
As to Gongaware's email regarding what was expected of Dr. Murray, Payne said the inconsistencies with Michael missing rehearsals warrant a talk. Payne said he thought Dr. Murray was there to care for his patient, making sure right nutritionist was there, to get him ready for the show. Payne never discussed with MJ about his doctors or personal affairs. Payne and Faye were professionals with each other, but not friends.
"Production felt he wasn't coming to rehearsals enough, and that was frustrating to some of the staff," Payne testified. "I had a concern we needed to create a show Michael would enjoy doing it," Payne explained
She also showed Payne photos from the This Is It premiere. First photo is of Payne shaking Jermaine Jackson's hand at the movie premiere. Bina also showed another image of smiling Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon with Payne at the premiere. Payne cried saying he had been through so much and the rough part was behind them. He was pleased to show the fans what the show was to be.
Jackson re-cross
In re-cross, Panish notes that none of Michael's brothers are part of this lawsuit.
Panish then asked Payne whether Katherine Jackson and Michael's kids went to the premiere. Panish says Katherine Jackson & her grandchildren didn't go to the premiere because they weren't over Jackson's death. Payne said he didn't think anyone was over Jackson's death when the film premiered in late 2009.

2024.05.14 11:42 OutThere_2044 My town's pine forest has a secret...

Part 1
I ended up buying a house at the edge of this town.... before i knew all the bullshit that was goin' on around here. Got bored and went down to the local sheriff Jack and asked about an opening, Didn't even fill out an application, got the job on the spot. For the first few months it was the usual, speeding tickets, drunk and disorderly, normal shit right? Well... let the fuckery commence....
I had been a deputy for 7 months when one of the local farmers called in and reported he had some animals killed last night and wanted someone to come out to his house. John Nixon was a 60 year old farmer who lived by himself. His wife passed away years ago, but he never remarried and they never had kids. We met one day at the local tackle shop. Me being new in town, he took me to some of the good fishin' spots. The man was a huge military history buff and would always ask about my time in. I thought I knew him personally, so i took the call.
As I rolled up to the gate on his property, I saw John standing at the gate with a shotgun. " Hey john, can I ask why you are standing there with that cannon in your hands?" No response, he just stared at me. "John! put that damn shotgun down!!" I yelled. Its like he snapped to out of a trance. "Mason, i need you to come round the back side of the house to the barn, now!" he snapped.
"OK, OK, let me get outta the car and grab some gear." I said opening the car door. While i was grabbing my gear, John was standing there with his eyes scanning the tree line. "Come on mason! you need to see this!" He said heading towards the back. I closed the trunk and started walking over in his direction.
"So what the hell is going on that's got you walking around here with that damn bazooka?" No response, he just keeps walking and scanning the tree line. We finally got to the back of his house where the barn is. It looked like a horror movie in that pen.
"What the fuck happened here!?!" I said covering my mouth. There were pieces of chickens and goats everywhere, a few pigs looked like they had been filleted. "Its back mason, after all these years" John mumbled. "John what the hell are you talking about? what did this?" I asked.
John took his eyes off the tree line and looked me dead in the face. "Your not from here so you dont know." "Know what man? what are you saying?" I asked getting annoyed now. "Years ago this same thing happened to a few guys I know. All of their livestock had been killed. Not killed and eatin', just killed. It got people 'round here up in arms. Well, a few of us got together and decieded we were gonna look for whatever did it" he said. "What the hell are you telling me john?" I interrupted. "There were four of us. We were young, thought we were bullet proof. We went out into the woods one morning, determined to find the damn thing that had been killing our animals.
Tommy was the first to say something. "Hey, did you guys hear that?". The rest of us didnt hear a thing, so we kept moving. We got about three miles deep into the old pine forest at the edge of town. Will was the next to say something, "WHAT THE FUCK?!" he yelled out while looking down at the mud. We ran over to where he was standing to find him wide eyed. "I dont know what the actual fuck did this, but we..we need to go and I mean right fucking now!!!" he said pointing. This track was huge, at least 14 inches long with huge claws. Gerald spoke up "Let's fuckin' go guys!!".
We started back tracking out of the area, when we were stopped cold in our tracks, we all heard it this time. It was coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same damn time. A sickening, shrieking laugh was coming from all around us. We panicked and starting runnin'. As soon as we did that, whatever was making that noise centered as if right behind us, and it was coming fast, ungodly fast" John said eyeing the remains of a chicken that was torn apart.
"We were about a mile from the trucks when I heard a thud and a scream, when i looked back Gerald wasn't there. Will and tommy were right behind me, terror all over their faces. Tommy pulled his pistol and started shooting backwards. Only one shot rang out before something tackled him and Will. I stopped, raising my rifle, but they had already been torn apart. It was seconds, and they were in shreds" John said.
"Mason, what i saw standing over their shredded bodies has haunted me since then. The fucking thing was nine feet tall, shaped like a man, but not. Its skin, or or scales was a mixture of black and grey and it looked slimy. It looked like a damn bodybuilder with hugh claw like hands. Its head was massive, with what looked like horns coming from the jaw to around the chin. Its eyes, glowed bright green in the middle of the fucking day, and it had a mouth full of fucked up jagged teeth." He said lowering his head.
"I jus.. just stood there, waitng for my turn. This thing paced back and fourth, staring at me, with this creepy damn smile. It looked down at Will and Tommy, then it looked back up at me. My heart almost stopped when it pointed and shook its head at me. It started making that shrieking laugh as it grabbed what was left of my friends in each giant claw and walked off into the woods, still fucking laughing. I fell to my knees as it vanished into the trees."
I stood there, thinking he lost his damn mind. John had stopped talking, he had this way off look in his eyes. "John..., john.., JOHN!!" his eyes snapped back to mine. "So what are you telling me? A nine foot creature with claws killed your friends and animals?!" I half mocked. "Yea.... thats what i'm telling you. Its back for me, i know it." "What makes you think it was this thing you say killed your friends? It could have been coyotes" I asked " I know mason, i heard that same horrible shrieking laugh in the woods behind the barn last night."
Now I’ve heard some real bullshit in my time, especially during my time in the contracting field... But this was the most out there shit I had ever heard.
"Alright, alright... let's just take a big ass step backwards. I need to wrap my head around all of this." I said takin a deep breath. John laid the shotgun down to his side. "I'm telling you the truth mason. i'm too old and tired to lie about shit" he said shrugging. I looked deep into this man’s eyes. When I did, I saw something that told me this was the absolute truth as he knew it. " You haven’t given me any reason to doubt you... but fuck man... this is hard to swallow. I need proof John, that's the way this works." A look of frustration washed over his weathered face.
"Proof?! you want proof huh? follow me" John groaned.
He started walking towards the tress behind the barn. As we got closer to the trees, I started to smell rusty copper. Blood I thought out loud. John raised his shotgun as we walked closer. That damn gun had to be illegal, but this wasn’t the time for that. Him raising that gun made me a lil' uneasy, so I pulled my Glock 9mm out and flipped the safety off.
John owned about 90 acres, most of it unkept. A lot of the land was behind the barn which butted up to a state forest. We took about 12 steps into the wood line when the smell of death hit me like a brick. "I'm taking you to where I heard the noise coming from last night... your PROOF is out there Mason" He said with a slight edge to it.
We walked almost a hundred yards into the woods when john stopped in front of a tree. It looked twisted and warped all the way to its top. I stepped around John and saw huge claw marks cut deep all the way around the base of the tree, it's hard to even call it that. "What the hell is this?" I said looking up. "This is a marker, it's territory starts here" John replied. I looked at john like he was crazy, which at this point I thought he was. "This thing travels throughout these woods. I've found five more of these trees in our town" he said putting a hand on the tree.
"This isn’t telling me anything John, just that you've got a weird ass tree on your property" I said back to him. "Do you hear that?" So we could move this mess forward, I stopped talking and just listened. I hadn't noticed that during our walk into the woods it had got quiet, and I mean not one sound. " What the hell? where did all the animals go?" I asked looking around. "They're scared mason... you should be too. Let's get back to the house."
We turned and started making our way out of the woods. We were damn near the tree line when I heard a snap. I turned around, gun raised to see a black streak dart back deeper into the woods. "What the fuck was that?!" All John said was "we need to leave, now!" We turned and started sprinting the rest of the way out of the woods. I was surprised at how fast john was for an old man. We got all the way back to my patrol car. "I don't know what that was, but I don't think you should stay here tonight John. Pack some stuff and come to my place" I said pointing my gun at the trees. John just let out a sigh as if frustrated and defeated.
"You weren't listenin'. The pine forest, these trees, it’s all connected. I’m talkin’ bout before this area was even inhabited by native peoples. This fucking thing has been around for a very long time. I have been looking into this since that day, I had to find out what it was and if it can be killed" he tried to explain. The whole time john was talking I had my eyes and weapon pointed at the trees. " You can put that down mason, it just wanted you to know it's here" He said.
"John, I to need process this shit. I've never seen or heard anything like this and to be straight with you, I’m at a loss right now" I said opening the trunk. "I get it, I get it. The sheriff jack was a deputy back then. When you see him... tell him I said the dark is here..." And with that, he just turned his back and walked back into his house not saying another word.
I got back in the car and sat there. Looking at the treeline. After a few minutes I went back to the station. I must've walked in with that universal what the fuck look on my face, because Cathy the clerk asked what was wrong with me. I told her I was fine and asked if she had seen the sheriff? "Yeah, he is in the gun cage. Are you sure you’re ok Mason?" She asked again.
"Yeah, I'm good, just need to talk to Jack." I started walking towards the back of the building, when Jack came around the corner. "Hey mason, what's up?" he says walking up to me. "I just got back from John's house." The look on his face completely changed. "He had a bunch of animals killed last night. It looked like a slaughterhouse. He told me to tell you the dark was back?" I told him noticing his reaction.
Jack stiffened up and not saying a word gestured for me to follow him towards the back security door. We headed towards the back and out the door. Jack had stopped to make sure the door was secure then pointed at his truck and said "get in."
After getting in he looked over "I need some coffee" then started the truck up and headed west out of the parking lot towards the coffee shop. He ordered a large black coffee with extra sugar then asked if I wanted one. "I'll take a small black, no sugar." We pulled out and headed east back past the station. We ended up driving towards the edge of the county. "What's going on and why are we heading way the hell out here?" I looked at jack and said.
Jack just took a long sip of his coffee then placed it back in the holder.
After a long breath "You want some answers about what happened at Johns' house... I’m sure he told you about a few other things about this town... well we're gonna go get you some answers" He said looking at a black sedan passing in the opposite direction. "Aight so, like you mason, I’m not from here either. I was a trooper in New York for a few years before I came down here. I resigned after a call to an old couple’s house" He said reaching for his cup. "My partner Jake and I responded to what was thought to be an animal attack. We were the first on the scene, having been a couple miles away lookin' for speeders.
When we rolled up an older woman came running over to the cruiser. She had a panicked look on her face and just kept repeating "they're dead, they're dead!!" We hopped out and sat her in the back of the car then asked what happened. "I...I... came over to talk to gloria and... and I saw the door open. I walked in yelling her and Alan’s name, but they didn't answer... I found them upstairs... it's horrible!!" She said sobbing. Jake and I drew our weapons and started making the move inside. Like the witness said the front door was open, so we moved in. It smelled like sulfur and blood when we entered. We started clearing rooms. The first floor was clear, so we made our way up the steps.
The smell was overpowering now. We cleared the bathroom, and the two smaller rooms were clear also. The door to the master bedroom was slightly opened. I motioned to Jake and we hit the door.... it looked like some movie shit!! I kid you not. Jake turned and went back into the hallway and threw up. I stepped into the room and... listen I had never seen anything like this before" Jack stammered out.
"These two people were in shreds on the bed, they're insides had been yanked out and thrown around the fucking room. After looking at the bodies I noticed these huge claw marks in the wall, I’m talking if Andre the giant had had a Krueger glove. I stepped back out of the room and radioed to dispatch that we needed more units. I walked back to the front door where Jake was standing hunched over looking out of it.
Parked outside were 3 black SUVs and a black sedan. I counted 11 men dressed in black tactical military gear, some with a type of rifle I had never seen before, but you could tell it was large caliber. The rest with SMG weapons. When i looked over towards the patrol car, one of the men had the door opened and was talking to the witness. He saw us and started our way. He was dressed in all black too and carried what looked like a desert eagle in a chest holster.
When he got closer I got a better look at him. He looked to be in his late 40's with salt and pepper colored hair and a big ass scar that ran down the right side of his face. He got about ten feet from the steps "We appreciate the assistance, but you are no longer needed" He said in deep voice. As he is saying this, one of the other guys escorts the witness out of our car and into the back of that sedan.
The guy started walking away from us "Who are you? and what the fuck is going on?" I yelled at him. He turned with a look on his face that you only see in movies then took a few steps towards us. "Your command has been informed and you are to leave now!" He said raising his hand up towards that holstered pistol. Jake looked at me and shook his head "fuck it, let's go, let them deal with that mess upstairs" he said still coughing then started heading towards the car. I followed him down the steps... looking this guy up and down, checking out the vehicles... for anything that might tell me who we were dealing with.
The only thing I saw was on the assholes uniform... there was a patch on his shoulder. It was an all-black diamond with a weird looking black M in the middle on it. The guy stared us down until we were in the car driving away. He had that pistol in his hand and the other men starting moving into the house. Jake and I didn’t say a word until the radio squawked and we were told to head back to the barracks.
When we got there, we were told to report to the troop commander’s office. Commander Thompson was sitting in his office along with a man in a nice 2-piece suit. The man in the suit stood there quietly while Thompson told us that we never responded to any call out to that farmhouse, and that this was the first and only time he would say it. With that, he dismissed us and and we walked out. The shit didn’t sit well with me, and I ended up resigning a few months later.
I came down here and then that shit in the woods happened. I was on the scene, I saw the claw marks. They looked just like the ones in New York, and the same damn trucks showed up with different personnel. I knew just to shut up and walk away, and after making that choice I have had a pretty good career here." he finished grabbing his cup out of the holder.
My brain was in overdrive. I was just about to completely question bomb jack when he said, "We're here." He pulled off onto this overgrown driveway and drove for about a quarter mile. We pulled up to an old two-story house that looked like it was in ruins... but the lights were on. "Where the hell are we?" I asked As the last word of that question left my mouth, the front door of the house opened... standing in the doorway was a old man, dressed in weathered black clothing. Jack leaned over to me "You wanted answers... well.... there they are."

2024.05.14 02:15 Disastrous-Meat-3462 Transfer to Eng Phys

So I’m a first year and I didn’t get Fizz (I asked Andre he’s like nah bro) but I really wanna do that program cuz I love physics and that’s my career path.
WHERE TO GO FROM HERE:
I know I need to go to a different spec and transfer in. My options are mech, elec and Igen. Here’s the issue, I don’t want to do igen because I’ve heard not so great things, I’m open to elec or mech but I’ve heard elec is bs second year so grades won’t be enough, although there are overlapping courses and I think I’ll like elec. Mech on the other hand I’ve heard is competitive overall, but I think me likey.
ALSO my average is like 77.6 (it was 78.1 but Apsc 101 dropped my grade).
SO does anyone have advice on what’s best? I know someone will say do what you think you’ll enjoy, but that was fizz, so elec or mech is what I think I’ll enjoy.
Do I:
  1. Write for Mech ( I think I will enjoy this a bit more and I can write a better statement but no overlap courses with fizz)
  2. Write for elec (has fizz overlap but perchance some bs second year)
3.Write for Igen ( grind out and transfer )
LASTLY:
is it possible to take fewer courses in second year that I won’t need in Phys so I dont have too many courses? Like if I do elec, take the overlap courses and any other mandatory courses, then apply next year, transfer and take summer off again? So that way I have some credits but not finish second year for that spec.
Also any statement advice for your recommendation would go a long way!! Thanks

In my opinion they are the greatest hip hop duo in the history of the game. And Guru is my number 1. I just feel like Gang starr doesn’t get enough credit when Moment of Truth i think is top 5 greatest hip hop albums of all time. I’ve never heard a guru verse I didn’t like. My top 5

2024.05.13 07:42 VesSaphia The Oracle Skeptic

I should have posted this days ago but I only just considered it relevant to share now. As a proud skeptic, I know coincidences happen, yes, but I've had too many paranormal experiences to just dismiss it as a coincidence anymore.
Without any clue or even seeing him for months I predicted my father's cancer diagnosis around the first of this very month (May 1st), as in, I was suddenly scared he was almost certainly going to have cancer, something I, assuming cancer doesn't run in our family, was never once concerned about beforehand and I don't even think I'd heard anything about cancer recently in the news. Other than the overall condition of being old, he was healthy enough for his age the last time I did see him months prior. Because of this unprompted certainty that he or I (but mostly he) would be diagnosed, I even needlessly annoyed some random person; to the effect of her rightfully blocking me for my stupid overreaction to her completely innocent post on a subreddit that had nothing to do with cancer when I suddenly started freaking out over cancer and looking into cancer out of concern for my father eleven days ago on the first and continued to worry about it for a few days before assuming I was just experiencing some manic episode. Thing is, I first heard about his diagnosis on tuesday, May 9th 2024; 5 days ago / a mere 8 days later via a text from my brother. I haven't particularly had much of any interest in cancer for years, and all of a suddenly I started acting weird about it, thinking my father specifically would soon be diagnosed with cancer for no reason.
I'm still a skeptic that it's a "super power" (more like a glitch) so I won't be offering to foretell your future for money but this isn't at all the first prediction I've made, if the others can be called predictions (You'll see what I mean in a moment. They, on the other hand, are far more than a coincidence) e.g. I was not vaguely familiar with but a fan of Lincoln Park when Chester Bennington died back in the aughts. As I observed the news cycle's discussions of self harm and seeking help, showing the suicide hotline on TV for days after the news broke, I kept wondering why he killed himself at the height of their fame, and would continue to ponder that for over a decade. After giving up long ago, one day while living in my car listening to A Place For My Head in 2019, I decided to reinvestigate if anyone ever finally revealed why he, of all people, would commit suicide, after all, it had been plenty of time for a e.g. diagnosis or a breakup to have been revealed by someone but instead of learning why he killed himself, I lost all interest in that as I stared at the date of death in the article; 2017. Confused, I searched the entire internet (or may as well have) trying desperately to find an error, surely he died in the (not even late) aughts, but it was the same everywhere I looked, he had in fact died a couple of years ago with no mention of his, to my knowledge, original death in the aughts. Whether some count this as a Mandela effect or, even if from my perspective his death was relatively common knowledge, precognition, the shock of his impossibility is probably what led to my skepticism finally turning radical.
Most of my other predictions involve video games, TV shows and movies (especially Game Of Thrones), sometimes, over a decade before they ever released and even embarrassed myself reenacting scenes and reciting lines from them at school e.g. while in middle school back in the '90s I reenacted the Lance Riddick sketch from the Eric Andre Show, a show that wouldn't air until 2012, and I don't even think that sketch from from the first season. Rather than catching my annoying reference, people just well, got annoyed as I'm sure many of you are now but still, I think I have to post this somewhere for posterity sake or so that others know it's not just them experiencing this, it can happen to extreme lifelong 🧬 skeptics like me so we should stop being so quick to mock the paranormal and maybe even be a skeptic; a radical skeptic.

2024.05.09 13:38 NietzscheIsMyDog Love Joy Trump: A Chorus of Prophetic Voices [Part II: Message from Ashtar Command]

A Message from Ashtar Command:

My favorite chapter in this entire book is "Archangels & Ascended Masters: A Synthesis of Presidential-Election Prophecies," and it's not close. Just before Love Joy Trump closes out with a list of "truthers" and Trump quotes, we are given a Biblical reframing of the hopelessness in Trump's 2016 election bid: intervention on a GALACTIC scale.
Prophesies must be fulfilled, or they aren't genuine prophesies. Love Joy Trump doesn't leave us hanging in this regard - the hundreds of pages of prayerful right-wing appeals to heaven all lead up to this moment where the tangibility question is answered at the low, low cost of our grip on reality.
Christine Preston, with the help of Mother Mary, the "Archangel Michael and her Ascended Twin Flame Andre whom she knew as a cousin till he passed away in 1972," has been in contact with Ashtar Command. Ashtar Command, as I explained in Part I, is the air division of the Great White Brotherhood, which are affiliated with the Galactic Federation of Light. The depth of this affiliation is not explained.
Christine is in on "The Plan," as Q would say, and has dutifully transcribed and dated all communications she has received from the aforementioned heroes on the astral plane. On 18 February, 2016, Archangel Michael warned Christine of great upheaval to come in the United States. This came as a great surprise to her, because she's British. What did not bring great surprise to her was Archangel Michael contacting her at all, which is apparently a common occurrence.
"This turn of events will be deserved by those who have betrayed the trust of a Nation that was to be an example of democracy with a Constitution inspired by Saint Germain, and so dear to his heart... Mankind must be freed from its misconceptions, its mind set, and place its feet upon the path of enlightenment to recreate a civilization that will be represented in the Galactic Federation of Light. A new Gaia and golden age will then be recreated. We are all working together in unison, in a sacred relationship, to achieve this goal."
Only 10 days later, Christine was able to establish communication with the mother of Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, who confirmed that 9/11 was an inside job.
Christine heard from Archangel Michael again on 8 March of the same year. By this point, the war was already underway. Michael explained that the battlefront of the war for Earth's membership in the Galactic Federation of Light was...
"...in the psyche, but before explaining something about this I would like to mention that the forces of darkness, on the astral plane, are still attempting to sabotage the Ascension process and to influence political leaders, the Establishment, the military, and other groups in the financial and business sectors of the big Corporations, to avoid complying with the orders imposed upon them by the Forces of Light to go ahead with a program of Disclosure concerning truths that have been suppressed for more than a century."
ARE YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT YET???
"This is taking place behind the scenes of the political scenarios and you may feel that they make no sense any more. A phase of transition with changes on the political front and financial system will also be initiated, and it will take place because of some events in the USA that will affect the whole world in the sense that as a result the adverse influence from the astral world will be greatly lessened."
If this is where our story ended, Christine and I would still have a lot of questions. We would have been expecting a near immediate shift to 4th density, for instance. The war effort demands it, you see. Thankfully, Archangel Michael cropped back up to explain exactly why this hadn't happened yet. Christine said:
"Then on March 18, Archangel Michael spoke of something that would happen before it was called the shift to 4th density and explained that some of the events expected in 2012 had not taken place.
'we wanted to convert more souls to a higher frequency of vibration so they could continue to exist on Earth. This is a world in transition and it is being lifted up to a higher dimension in the sense that physicality will still exist but in an exalted way, much like what you think of a Garden of Eden, or Paradise. So on September 28 2015, something that had been expected to take place in December 2012, finally happened.'"
Well, that helped a little. But it's not the full picture. We now know why the Galactic Federation of Light would hesitate to make a major move, but not why they were hesitating in exactly this case. Despite the uncertainty, Christine didn't back down, even if there were unspecified setbacks in the galactic plan. Finally, on 22 March, Christine received word directly from headquarters:
"Dear ones, this is an Alert from Ashtar Command. We are approaching a time of difficulty because of the planetary adjustment that will take place with the process of Disclosure. The Earth has entered a most dense area of the Ring of Light that is called the Photon Belt, and the entire Solar System is being buffeted by electro-magnetic waves."
It ALL makes sense now! Ashtar Command elaborated further that the electro-magnetic waves are...
"...instrumental to the Great Awakening as the photonic light and gamma rays... are stripping the psyche of mankind of negative elements in much the same way as the circles and swords of Blue Flame of Archangel Michael, as well as of the Elohim Hercules and Astrea."
The amazing Archangel Michael had managed to get this message through to Christine even though he was at war with negative waves! Ashtar Command went on to state that Earth was to play a role in the manifestation of the Divine Will, and that "we were close to the goal because the planetary body had been swept by a flux of energy..." and with that, it sounded like the tide had turned!
But we weren't out of the woods yet, it seemed. Ashtar Command was able to describe the enemy's plans directly to Christine:
"They have tried various tactics to create a global conflict and weaponize space... They intended to use their holographic technology to stage an alien invasion such as the one of 'Independence Day' or 'The War of the Worlds.' They are being kept under surveillance of the Galactic Federation of Light and Ashtar Command would not allow it."
Ashtar Command ended their transmission by stating that "some replacement in power, in just a few months from now" would create favorable conditions for Disclosure; a keystone to entering the Golden Age as a planetary member of the Galactic Federation of Light. So close, yet so far. But hope was not yet dead.
On 29 March, Archangel Michael returned, evidently from his battle with negative waves, to inform Christine that...
"...Disclosure would take place God's Way and there would not be any delays. He explained again that the forces of darkness have created scenarios to create wars and are still attempting to incite conflicts, but are failing. He also said that the two first Waves of souls functioning in the realm of awakened consciousness were influencing the Media and political scene."
Nearly a month went by; a month for the Forces of Darkness to continue inciting conflicts to prevent humanity from ascending. We readers again face the grim reality that the Galactic Federation of Light's victory in the war for Earth's membership may not succeed, considering all the negative waves out there. But just when hope seemed lost Donald Trump was revealed, by none other than Christine's Ascended Twin Flame Andre, to be in on The Plan!
"About the Presidential Elections we are still saying that Donald Trump is going to win them. Of course, it's a very delicate matter to make such a prediction where you stand, but we have seen the certainties in the timelines. There is a situation with who is pulling the strings in the political scenes of the world... If the dark ones, the Illuminati, or Cabal, attempt to control him by threat, blackmail, or anything of the kind, we will be intervening with Ashtar Command, the air division of the Great White Brotherhood."
Andre also stated that The Cabal was being given the chance to "turn to the Light," and that the Galactic Federation of Light was officially endorsing Donald Trump because the Earthling leader would need to "possess great strength and stamina in the present circumstances." Unfortunately, the war was about to shift to a more physical theater - the political system of the United States, where Trump would have to fight the Establishment while the Galactic Federation of Light continued to assault the Dark Ones on the Astral Plane. Andre also clued Christine in on the significance of this turn of events.
"The Elections will play an important role in the changes that will not only transfigure the American Continent, but the whole world. The Earth is the planet that as to play a key role in the Ascension to bring physicality to a higher place."
Both the Astral and Physical theaters of the war continued their lively violence, the fate of Earth relying on the success of both Donald Trump and Ashtar Command. We could not afford a single mistake in these dire times. But sometime between Christine's Ascended Twin Flame Andre's last visit, and 29 April 2016, the Forces of Light experienced a breakthrough and were able to predict victory on the physical plane. Archangel Michael contacted Christine and delivered the news personally:
"The World is emerging into a better reality in which America will become the example the founding Fathers wanted it to be. It was Saint Germain's dream, and he is causing it to unfold at the moment, as the Dark is on the run."
We weren't out for the count yet, and nobody had counted on the great Saint Germain's personal involvement in the war. The Saint who inspired the Constitution had finally arrived on the battlefront. Christine addressed the public directly to update the people of Earth on the current status of the physical theater of the war:
"On May 5th, Mother Mary gave me a message entitled 'Prophesy regarding the Elections.' I had 35 videos published at the time and now the number is 83... I would like to inform you that on 28 February, I received a message from Mother Mary saying that Donald Trump will be the elected president. I didn't hesitate to post the message on my Facebook page..."
Christine fully briefed the public about her communications with her Ascended Twin Flame Andre, Archangel Michael, Mother Mary, and Ashtar Command, letting us know that Trump's victory was now certain in 2016, because the Forces of Light needed him to take on the Establishment, and that they did not choose him arbitrarily:
"They are not supporting him because he happens to be aligned with the Divine Will. No, it's like he has incarnated for this mission..."
Continuing to assure the public of inevitable victory, Christine went on to recount the transmissions she had received from Mother Mary, only this time it was about three times longer for some reason. Between May and June, Christine's Ascended Twin Flame Andre informed her that Trump had won the necessary delegates! IN MAY, 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE ELECTION! "Once the strings of control are totally severed the Leaders of the Nations will be freed to make changes to spread peace around the world," he said, also stating that the elections were particularly crucial "because it was the nefarious activities of the War Industries that caused the decline along the lines plotted for many decades by the Dark Forces."
By June, Christine was informing the public that she was making videos to disseminate symbolism to help in the war effort, since the American and British elections would only be the tip of the iceberg - a lot needed to be done before Disclosure. Christine had also begun to receive messages directly from Saint Germain himself:
"Saint Germain conveyed to me the idea that the individuals opposing and fighting the Establishment... are taking a hard beating. Certain Ascended Masters are connected with this struggle. So Saint Germain has asked me to make calls for those who are fighting a battle for Freedom and see if a video with some prayers can be produced. He is the Hierarch of this New Age of Aquarius and of Freedom."
Dutifully, Christine produced the requested video and began to rally the troops herself. She had gone from a simple recipient of messages to an officer in the Forces of Light, supported by Ashtar Command and Mother Mary. Christine, friend of the Archangel Michael, Twin Flame to her cousin Andre, and prayer warrior in an unholy war for Earth's membership in the Galactic Federation of Light, prepared a public address with the passion and conviction of Q himself, rolling back the curtain and revealing the true identity of Donald Trump who had won his first election 6 months in advance:
"Donald Trump will be President by destiny. He is a soul extension of Saint Germain, who is an expert in creating wealth and has a momentum of Light that permits him to win any battle or confrontation with the Dark ones. Keep in mind that extensions, or incarnations or great beings such as Masters, Archangels, and Star seeds, are still veiled and do not possess memory of who they are. I have permission to release this information at this time as we know there is no need to keep this a secret from Lightworkers any more. Saint Germain is the Hierarch of the Aquarian Age and is involved with the Project of Peace, Prosperity, and recreation of civilization, which will propulse [sic] mankind, and this planet, in a golden age era. He was the one who shouted 'Sign that document!' when the Founding Fathers hesitated and were about to introduce the Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc, in 1776... As we have said before, the time ahead is one of Disclosure and then of Transition, with healing and teaching, as well as contacts and great encounters with inner and outer types. We will be able to meet when you have reached a higher level than the present one upon which you dwell.
"Ahead and beyond 2016 is a time of reconstruction, of enlightenment, of teaching, of the creation of a new Gaia, a time of Great Disclosure to continue unveiling suppressed truths and discovering new spiritual Science, a time of using new technologies. It's a time when many will be busy with their sacred labors and a time of great discoveries in preparation for a destiny greater and more wonderful than you can yet imagine. It is one of Reunion of twin flames and of other relationships too, of Peace, and of growth, one of Great encounters and of supernatural experiences as you are all progressing upon the path of Ascension, and are discovering the wonders of your inner Selves...
"We are having a revolution in spirit and consciousness. The liberation comes from the 7th Ray of Saint Germain, and the impulse of cosmic energies projected to Earth in this Age of Aquarius, the Hierarch of which is Saint Germain, who has been known for centuries as the Count of Saint Germain and has a reputation as the 'man who never dies.'
"The Violet Transmuting Flame also is the energy of forgiveness that erases the records, their causes, cores and memories. Its liberating effects will also cause the restoration of the Rights relating to every human being in this time of Transition to a Quantum Leap to the Fifth Dimension... The Master Jesus explained that the group of souls which had not yet been anchored in the 5th dimension, as far as consciousness, perception, attitude, or spirituality, goes, would be fished in a net of the 5th dimension by waves of the photonic light by the end of the year, and he asked our motto be 'Broadcast Love.'"
And there we have it. Had it not been for Ashtar Command holding back the Forces of Darkness on the Astral Plane, the Forces of Light on Earth could never have beaten the Establishment. Had Saint Germain not incarnated as Donald Trump to beat the Establishment, Ashtar Command could never have held back the Forces of Darkness on the Astral Plane. All had fallen into place exactly as Saint Germain had planned, and while victory could not officially be declared until the war was won once and for all, thanks to the valiant war reporting of Christine and her rallying of prayer warrior patriots worldwide, we certainly would have admitted defeat by now.
Not all heroes fight the bad guys in the streets. Sometimes, you have to take them down on Facebook and YouTube. Christine realized that, and with the help of the scribe BethAnon you can now rest assured that the Astral Plane is safe thanks to none other than Donald Trump. When you are telling your children about this some day, and they ask you what it was like, remember to tell them that we won "bigly" as you give them a thumbs-up, and remind them to "Broadcast Love" as Master Jesus commands.
Conclusion notes are in Part III.

2024.05.09 13:18 RgrdgEdmontonStalker When she's a 10 but...

...yeah. I don't think I have to finish that thought to convey why this is shitty. But like, the title is just for the meme, what I really mean is we were finding great chemistry, the best I'd found in two years, and everything I learned about her seemed to be a good sign, we were connecting in a rly nice way, etc. I - somewhat recklessly, in retrospect! - made an offhand joke about a hickey at the expense of the people who questioned amber's bruise photos because an australian makeup brand hopped on a viral misinformation bandwagon. Her reaction was "don't get me started on how much i hate amber heard". I said something about how that's a conversation for another day, and she said she felt strongly about it and talking about the case would be too triggering for her. I wasn't even particularly interested in opening pandora's box from there. But the idea that she would never want to hear why I felt otherwise was something I spiraled about for a while. She tells me she'd be willing to talk about it some day but just not over text. I wouldn't have dreamed of getting into it over text. I emphatically convey that there's no expectation on my part to try and dive into this before there's a ton of trust built up between us that makes it feel like a safe conversation.
But she calls me less than an hour later and insists on talking about it. She tells me she has a fucking POTC tattoo and was obsessed with Depp in HS. Tale as old as time. Insists she was really conscious about not wanting to be biased and so she watched all of the trial. She requests that I say everything I need to say while she doesn't interrupt, and then she does the same. I don't get into any of the specifics or any of the particular pieces of evidence, because I'm already fucking exhausted. I focus on the big picture, invoking a lot of the framing in La Fabrique Du Mensonge about how this story starts back in Gamergate days, how this case served a purpose in patriarchy's first concentrated reaction to MeToo, how the echoes of this injustice reverberate in types like Andr*w T*te. I focus on affirming that the judge excluded numerous admissible pieces of evidence and allowed numerous inadmissible pieces of evidence, and I focus on how after losing in the UK he brought it to VA specifically for the purposes of getting it publicized and sensationalized so that the online manosphere and his bot army could put a thumb on the scale. I finish and let her have her turn. She proceeds to repeat EXACTLY THE MAINSTREAM NARRATIVE ABOUT NUMEROUS HIGH PROFILE PIECES OF EVIDENCE THAT BECAME VIRAL STORIES THAT EVERY NORMIE KNEW ABOUT.
The only things I actually alleged about the case itself? I said Amber is a victim of abuse and it shouldn't be illegal to write that, and I said that Johnny is a monster. At no point did I ever focus any energy whatsoever on exonerating Amber of anything, even when she's repeating false things. I redirect attention to the fact that it's not a lie for her to admit she was abused, and that's why the op ed wasn't libel. Funnily enough, even though the case is about the first thing I actually affirmed - that Amber is a victim of abuse - it's the second thing that really bothered her, that I said Johnny was a monster. Which isn't too surprising when you put together that she's STILLL a Depp fangirl, but I had been in denial that that could be possible, which steadily crumbled. She was so bothered by this that even though we seemingly FULLY put this to bed and agreed to disagree after a long conversation - 5+ hours - that was very painful and that was definitely fucking premature (which is why I wasn't gonna try to instigate it!), she still brought it up on an entirely separate occasion when we were in person.
She said that the words I said about Johnny being a monster had been echoing in her head. And after numerous apologies for bringing up something like this that had been settled, she proceeds to tell me that the reason she's reopening this topic.... is because I need to be told that there's a recording of Amber saying that she was abusive on the phone.
AS IF I HAVENT HEARD THE PHONE CALL SHES REFERRING TO? AS IF IT ISNT SOMETHING EVERYONE HAS HEARD?
I could have explained the obvious context for the call that anyone who's not set on demonizing Amber can discern, but I didn't. Not at all. All I did was question why she would think I wouldn't know about that call given how I had talked about the case and why she would think the existence of this phone call would mean Johnny isn't a monster.
Like we know that the hysteria is deeply incoherent on a level, but seeing it happen in someone you were starting to care about, someone who you understood as a queer feminist with media literacy, and realizing it's not just a matter of educating them, that they are really hopeless on this topic... idk, it's tough. it's disturbing. it feels alienating. It sucks all around no matter how I handle it.
Im gonna do the only thing I can do, rewatch 8h of Medusone and internalize everything I didn't already have memorized for an imaginary conversation that I really hope I never have to consider having again. The only way I can deal with this frustration is by knowing that if we end contact for good I know exactly what I would say if I wanted to leave her with a collection of hard truths that she can't deny.
Unironic Depp fans are fcking cringe thanks for reading cuz this fuckin sucks

The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, as we wrap up our extensive coverage of this stage of the league calendar. Before we sort of transition over into the final stages of discussing how teams have built up their rosters, discussing how the new additions fit in across my divisional draft and roster review series starting next week, I wanted to show some love to a few players who didn’t actually hear their names called over the course of the weekend in Detroit.
Just last year, I called out Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent, who ended up starting four games, Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr., who was a borderline Pro Bowl performer, and Buccaneers defensive back Christian Izien, who was their quasi-starter in the slot. So there’s always still talent to be found once the draft is wrapped up and while opportunity has to be taken into account here, in the right situation there are UDFAs that could play significant roles as early as this season, even if it’s not in a starting capacity necessarily.
Here are some names, who I believe are capable of contributing and are in a situation where they could get a chance to do so:

RB DeShaun Fenwick, Oregon State – New England Patriots

This was actually one of the first players I wrote about during this pre-draft process, when I outlined him as one of the biggest standouts from the 2024 college all-star events, having watched him consistency showing up in positive ways during East-West Shrine Bowl practices. Funnily enough, I talked a lot about what Fenwick did during one-on-ones as a receiver in that piece, considering he only hauled in 30 passes across 50 career games between South Carolina and Oregon State. You saw him detach from guys down the field on corner and streak routes, but really what stood out was his attention to detail in that regard, altering tempo, throwing in rocker-steps and freezing the feet of guys covering him. Along with that, he has clearly worked on his technique as a pass-protector, erasing the space to blitzer and striking them with a tight punch. As a runner, he plays up to his size at 6’1”, 220 pounds as a battering ram RB2 for the Beavers paired up with what could be a top-ten back in next year’s class in Damien Martinez. However, while the ran a lot inside and outside zone there, I also really like Fenwick’s projection into more of a gap-scheme oriented approach, thanks to how well he can press creases vertically, make subtle adjustments to get to the opposite edge after blockers after forcing guys on the second level to commit and get skinny through tight creases despite his size.
So as I consider what this Patriots offense could look like under their new leadership, I think this is a back that could fit very well. Coming over from Cleveland, I expect offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to re-commit to a more downhill-oriented approach, considering the pieces they have on the O-line outside of maybe former first-round pick left guard Cole Strange, when they seemingly wanted to dabble more in the wide zone meta we saw across the NFL. While they did bring in Antonio Gibson as more of a receiving option and someone who can provide some big-play potential, I think he’s someone you want to take mental processing off the table as more of a one-cut-and-go zone runner. Yet, Rhamondre Stevenson for as an even slightly bigger back then Fenwick, has some pretty sweet feet to navigate around points of pressure and pace himself as he sets up pulling linemen. As a fifth-year player, I think the former Oregon State RB can operate in a similar mold, even though I don’t like him as much when he gets out to the perimeter and utilizes blockers in space, while lacking that extra gear to pull away from the pursuit. However, he can take some of the load off the starter with his willingness to drop his pads and have a cumulative effect on the defense taking those kinds of blows. Paired with that, for a rookie he can also be useful taking on pass-pro reps and only dropped two of 32 catchable targets in his career with consistent overhand technique. Neither JaMychal Hasty nor Ke’Shawn Vaugh have really established themselves as committee options and Kevin Harris, who the Pats drafted two years ago with a similar profile, has only been active in nine games and touched the ball 37 times.

.

WR Isaiah Williams, Illinois – Detroit Lions

Someone I didn’t bring up as a player who emerged from the college all-star circuit but had a solid Shrine Bowl week himself, was Isaiah Williams. Formerly recruited as a four-star dual-threat quarterback, he made the transition to catching passes three years ago and while Illinois put the ball in his hands to hit his fellow receivers a few times during stretch, he put up just under 1100 yards and five touchdowns on 94 touches this past season, earning himself first-team All-Big Ten accolades. However, the reason not him but teammate Casey Washington actually got drafted is that Williams that he’s on the smaller end at 5’9”, 180 pounds and ran a 4.63 at the combine. To me, unless you look at the former as a pure special teamer, the NFL clearly took the wrong guy here. Wiliams is highly elusive off the line with subtle shifts or more violent sticks to gain positioning on the release, putting the defender in trail technique off the snap pretty much and then he plays so much faster than hos 40-time would indicate, to where you see him rapidly get on top of guys with that burst in slot fades. He can accelerate through his cuts, packs some effective swipe-moves to create separation against tighter coverage at the break-point and consistently was friendly to his quarterback. His drop rate is a little higher (7.0%) than you’d like to see and his contested-catch rate (35.3%) lower, but he shows no hesitation of extending for the ball in traffic and you love what he provides after the catch. He already has that lower center of gravity to be efficient with his transitions and make more dramatic moves in the open field, but he also shows the balance to pull through wraps, forcing 51 missed tackles across 164 combined catches over the last two seasons.
So I look at this Lions depth chart, they just locked up Amon-Ra St. Brown as their “power slot extraordinaire”, they hope former first-round pick Jameson Williams can build on some of the flashes late last season as a field-stretcher and Kalif Raymond is back for a fourth season in Detroit as someone who’s averaged 560 yards per year with them and has been their designated punt returner. However, beyond that, you’re looking at Donovan Peoples-Jones, who they traded a sixth-round pick to Cleveland for, but only averaged just over six offensive snaps outside of a meaningless week 18 game. I kind of liked Antoine Green as a seventh-round pick for them last year, who was this vertical ball-winner for North Carolina, because they didn’t really have that skill-set outside of maybe Marvin Jones Jr. – who’s now off the roster – but the then-rookie only caught one pass for two yards. The only other receiver currently on the roster anybody would even recognize by name is former Saint Tre’Quan Smith, who was bouncing between practice squads and was only active for one game last year. So there’s a pretty good chance Isaiah Williams makes it through final cuts as this team’s WR5 at least. He provides the YAC skills that this team is somewhat lacking and can be an extension of this run game, just like he was for the Fighting Illini, being a fly sweep threats, running backside bubbles or just creating microwave offense on screens.

.

WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Georgia – Washington Commanders

Sticking with the wide receiver position, we’re looking at quite a different profile to Isaiah Williams with this 6’1”, 205-pound Georgia wideout. Rosemy-Jacksaint was four-star recruit in 2020, who struggled to work his way onto the field for a deep Bulldogs receiving corp, with just 11 catches over his first two years. He became a bigger part of the rotation in 2022 (29-337-two touchdowns), but really established himself as a senior, turning 34 grabs into 535 yards and four TDs. I first became aware of this player during Senior Bowl practices, but I actually didn’t love what I saw there. In a setting that favors shifty separators, who can take advantage of the extended space provided to them during one-on-ones, his routes became somewhat predictable with no deceptive speed and footwork alternations. That’s not saying I didn’t also see him come out of his front-loaded staggered stance without any wasted movement and didn’t like how he was able to violently stick his foot in the ground for sharp transitions as a bigger body-type, along with catching the first touchdown on gameday through contact. Going to the tape, I thought he was very disciplined with his route-stems, snapped off curls well and I really appreciated his play-strength, battling for positioning, defeating leverage of defenders and nudging them off at the top of routes. You combine that with big, natural hands (zero drops on 98 targets over the past two seasons), large catch-radius with those 33-inch arms and competitiveness with the ball in air, hauling in seven of 11 contested targets last year.
However, what really made me buy in with Rosemy-Jacksaint and what I think the Commander coaching staff will fall in love with is what he provides as a blocker. Works up to off-corners under good control and is able to latch his hands inside their frame at a high rate. You can deploy him in closer splits, cracking back on safeties, getting a tight grip on the point-man of bunches or even pinning edge defenders inside on plays out to the perimeter. And you see this guy’s hands stay attached until the echo of the whistle a lot of times to take defenders for a ride. Is there anybody this profile reminds you of, thinking about what new GM Adam Peters had in San Francisco? – Jauan Jennings is who came to mind for me. Just like the Niner’s dirty-work receiver and chain-mover, the question with the former Bulldog is the long speed, backed up by running an abysmal 4.81 at Georgia’s pro day. I’m not aware of any off-field concerns, which led to Jennings going undrafted, who I believe offered more after the catch. Washington’s offense will have a much more spread-out look than San Francisco of course with the combination of OC Kliff Kingsbury and second overall pick Jayden Daniels, but to complement a smaller receiving corp that will likely rely on the guy they selected 100th overall in Luke McCaffrey – who I believe is still learning the intricacies of the position – I think as a big slot and role player to help get the run game off the ground, I think Rosemy-Jacksaint has a good chance to make the roster. Assuming they’re looking at different options for the return game, this guy offers more on offense than Dax Milne.

.

TE Dallin Holker, Colorado State – New Orleans Saints

One of the more surprising players from this list who ultimately didn’t get picked as part of a fairly underwhelming tight-end class is Dallin Holker. There were only 12 guys who got selected altogether, but I had him just inside my personal top-ten. That was more of a reflection of the quality of the group overall, as I only saw five TEs inside my top-100 while everybody else had some clear warts. For Holker, he wasn’t asked to line up next to the tackle or would create displacement in the run game, while as a receiver he would tip off defenders by drifting during his route stems, he ran a 4.78 at 241 pounds at the combine and he’s not the most natural at contorting his body for off-target grabs. With that being said, there is plenty of good with the second-team All-American, who just put up career-highs across the board in catches (64), yards (767) and touchdowns (six). I thought his actual game speed was a lot better than what he was timed up, watching him gain a step on guys up the seams or racking up yards after the catch when hauling in passes on the run. Holker can also drop his hips and create space for himself and generally navigates well around ancillary zone defenders to find openings. He tracks the deep ball well over either shoulder, not losing focus with someone on his hip, and generally does a good job taking advantage of his large frame to shield the ball and absorb contact, as well as being flexible enough to pluck passes below his knees. As a blocker, you’re best served to utilize him on the move, whether that’s sifting across the formation, inserting against linebackers or covering up bodies in space when you try to get the ball out towards the sideline.
One of the keys to Holker not at least getting a call late on day three is that he didn’t leave the greatest impression during Shrine Bowl week, with a couple of semi-drops with contact and not approaching the ball optimally. However, I didn’t notice that as a general issue for him and as he acclimates to a higher level of competition, I think he has a place on an NFL roster as someone who can earn opportunities by being a reliable target who will fight for extra yardage, and he even lined up some at fullback during team sessions of those aforementioned practices. As I consider how he might fit in with the Saints specifically, I’m looking at a fantasy sleeper from a year ago in Juwan Johnson who didn’t match his prior production in a more prominent role, Foster Moreau as someone who they limited to an underneath option in terms of the pass game and whatever you want to define Taysom Hill as. Whether the latter is on the roster or not, with Klint Kubiak now taking over play-calling duties I’m expecting a fair share of multi-TE sets and could see Holker earn a role as an H-back on early downs and someone with alignment versatility in defined dropback settings.

IOL Drake Nugent, Michigan – San Francisco 49ers

Moving on to the offensive line now, I saw a path where teams would pass on Drake Nugent compared to see more impressive physical profiles on day three, but I was still shocked to see him go undrafted entirely. Depending on what you count some of these tackle/guard flex options as, there were between 25 and 30 interior O-linemen selected overall. For me, Nugent was IOL18, even though I acknowledge that he may be considered a center only at 6’1”, right around 300 pounds with pretty small hands. After barely seeing the field his first two years in college, he started all 39 games between Stanford and Michigan over the past three years, earning first-team All-Big Ten accolades and helping pave the way for a national championship as the replacement for another highly-regarded transfer at the pivot in Olu Oluwatimi. Nugent definitely lacks some size and length, to where you don’t see him just overwhelming nose-tackles at the point of attack or stun interior rushers with his punch. However, he wins as a run-blocker with great technique and naturally built-in leverage, being able to execute down- and back-blocks as part of the Wolverines’ gap schemes where they pulled their guards a lot, but he’s also very capable of getting his hips around to reach-block first-level defenders or secure moving targets climbing off combos. As a pass-protector, he operates with good flexion at his hips, knees and ankles in order to protect a firm interior of the pocket despite only being around 300 pounds. He consistently fits his hands underneath the chest of rushers, showcases impressive reactionary quicks to mirror active movers and is able to guide crossing linebackers or loopers off track at a high rate.
Considering what Kyle Shanahan and company value in terms of the offensive line – particularly at the center position – I think Nugent fits those qualifications very well. While the rest of the measurements aren’t as intriguing, he put up borderline elite agility numbers at the combine and you see that short-area quickness on tape as well. Michigan didn’t run a whole lot of outside zone, because the guys around the pivot were much more power-based and they’d mash people inside, creating extra gaps with their guards being used as pullers. However, I think Nugent can absolutely get to the play-side shoulder of shades and 2i-technique, wall off bodies on the second level and then has the lateral movement skills to slide in front of blitzers with how much 5-0 protections San Francisco runs, because they want to get five eligibles out in the pattern. Outside of their starter Jake Brendel, the only guy under contract who has really snapped the ball in the NFL is Jon Feliciano, who they brought in third-round pick Dominick Puni (Kansas) to compete for the starting gig at right guard for most likely. So I’m not sure if the Michigan standout makes the active roster week one, but if Brendel misses any time and Feliciano wins that position battle, he may end up starting at center or at least be your primary backup. And I can see a world where Puni starts a few contests at right tackle as well (after he played on the blindside for the Jayhawks), which would open up further opportunities.

.

IOL Kinglsey Eguakun, Florida – Detroit Lions

You’ll see a couple of other teams make the list with two potential impact UDFAs, but Detroit is the only one with multiple guys on one side of the ball, as I could see both wide receiver Isaiah Williams and Florida’s starting center over the last three years make the cut. What probably hurt him in this process is the fact that he was lost a month into the 2023 season with an ankle injury and he also didn’t work out at the combine due to tight hamstrings. However, we did see him perform at the Senior Bowl and I thought he had a really nice week. What stands out right away as we compare him to Michigan’s Drake Nugent for example is that he may not even be a full ten pounds heavier, but Eguakun presents a much denser build. Thanks to that, combined with throwing out a nice snatch-trap move a couple of times, his ability to anchor against power-rushers and put people on the ground when they get off balance, made him a very effective pass-protector. On 145 pass-blocking snaps last season, he was only charged with one sack and five additional pressures. In the run game, he has some impressive reps on tape executing different assignment on zone concepts, whether he’s latching and sustaining against D-linemen deep into the play-clock, overtaking/folding underneath on combos or shove scraping linebackers past the target. And for what that more squatty build might suggest, he’s pretty effective with getting to further extended landmarks and secure bodies in space.
With that being said, I did have a few other names ahead of Eguakun in my IOL rankings and he certainly has his flaws. Whether that’s not always bending at his knees and bringing his feet along as a run-blocker, his hands generally sliding to high in both facets and needing to gear up the level of activity in his hand-usage to battle interior pass-rushers. Combining those issues, he was penalized an insane 31(!) times across 1029 total snaps these last three years combined. Nevertheless, not only do I believe those issues are fixable down the road with the right coaching, but I also look at a pretty clear path to earn the backup center job and provide value as someone who can probably jump in at guard as well. Right now, with Graham Glasgow expected to jump in at left guard for Jonah Jackson, who just left in free agency, the only other O-linemen on this roster currently are Colby Sorsdal, who they selected in the fifth round as a developmental tackle out of William & Mary last year, the guy they surprised us with in the fourth round of this draft out of the University of British Columbia, who is also looked at as a guy who isn’t NFL-ready but has intriguing athletic tools, and former Boston College guard Christian Mahogany, who went a good 100 picks later than I expected late in the sixth round due to some medical concerns. None of those have experience at the pivot and otherwise there’s no other drafted player on this roster. Depending on if Detroit signs another free agent on the tertiary market, I see a good chance for Eguakun to make it through cuts.

EDGE Gabriel Murphy, UCLA – Minnesota Vikings

Nobody hit a bigger homerun on the undrafted free agent market last year than the Vikings. I heard the concerns around linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. coming out of Cincinnati and thought he’d go later than where I valued him, considering he was my 90th overall prospect, but when he landed with defensive coordinator Brian Flores in Minnesota, I immediately thought he’d be an impact starter, and he ended up playing at a fringe Pro Bowl level. This time around, they brought in a player I considered a fourth-round prospect but had some similar concerns based on length. His 30.5-inch arms place him in the sixth-percentile, although the rest of his measurables and athletic testing all basically were in the upper third for the position. Now, that does create some issues when he’s in those close combats against offensive tackles in both facets and you didn’t really see him be asked to stack-and-shed on the edge in the run game, as he was more so allowed to “make plays”. However, there are flashes of him even lining up at three-technique and anchoring against down-block, plus he just has a knack for swiping away the hands of offensive linemen and disrupting the backfield. What you really bring him in for however is that he can probably contribute early on already as a pass-rusher. He effectively sets up cross-chops and beats guys laterally with almost “euro-step”-like footwork. Murphy shows a great feel for the weight-distribution of blockers and has the versatility to move along the front, creating issues on the interior with his quickness. Playing along a loaded D-line at UCLA last season certainly helped, but he racked up 62 QB pressures across 355 pass-rush snaps last season.
Looking at Minnesota’s EDGE situation, they basically swapped out long-time veteran Danielle Hunter for a younger version in Jonathan Greenard coming off a career-year at the end of his rookie deal in Houston. Unlike many suspected them having to trade away both their first-round picks for a quarterback in the top-five, they were able to move up to 17th overall to pair quarterback J.J. McCarthy with what many regarded as EDGE1 in Alabama’s Dallas Turner. And they did sign former Dolphin Andrew Van Ginkel to a back-loaded two-year, 20-million-dollar contract, in part due to DC Brian Flores’ familiarity with him. However, while Jihad Ward is currently listed as an outside linebacker, at 290 pounds you’re not really going to ask him to drop into coverage, which they do a lot in a system that either brings six or only three, being very extreme-oriented. Other than that, it’s down to Pat Jones, who just played a career-high in snaps but more out of necessity and he didn’t grade out particularly well, and a developmental guy in Andre Carter who they picked up as a UDFA from Army last year and primarily was used on special teams. As I consider who can give you the most production on passing downs right now, Murphy at the very least comes in fifth in that pecking order. So I think he could be used as a spinner over the center and be valued due to his sudden hands to quickly win those one-on-ones Flores generates.

IDL Fabien Lovett, Florida State – Kansas City Chiefs

While they’ve made more investments recently, the Chiefs have a history of finding quality contributors on the defensive line late in the draft and as part of the UDFA market. They signed an edge rusher that I think could give them some snaps as part of the rotation with his urgent, violent style of play in Charlotte’s Eyabi Okie-Anoma. Yet, I want to focus on the big bear they added in the middle from Florida State. Lovett was tied for tenth in my interior D-line rankings and I thought his skill-set was worthy of investing an early day three pick in him. In terms of owning his space and sliding off blocks in run defense, he was up there with anybody outside of Texas’ massive T’Vondre Sweat as a guy playing between the guard. What I always said about him was that he had an innate feel for where pressure was being applied from and how to counter it, as he dealt with double-teams. Yet, his ability to lock out against soloes and then how slippery he is at disengaging and eating up the ball-carrier is equally impressive. Now, he doesn’t offer a whole lot of pop out of his stance and short-area twitchiness to be a legit part of a third-down package in the NFL, but he does have some dominant snaps of putting guards or centers on skates when left one-on-one and his level of activity with his hands is commendable for a guy at 6’4”, nearly 320 pounds.
As a sixth-year senior who some people may look like as a two-down player, it’s understandable that the league may value other guys above him, but there’s no way he should’ve gone undrafted entirely. Considering how Kansas City has treated their defensive front, these types of players like Derrick Nnadi, Mike Pennel and others have been valuable contributors. Especially this past season, we saw them run the second-highest rate of base defense and generally they go fairly depth into their depth chart with that position group, to keep guys healthy and give them quality snaps. So while those names I mentioned are still under contract, I think there’s definitely a path to playing time for Lovett since they value those early-phase run stoppers. This guy can occupy bodies to allow their linebackers to run freely, as they just some speed with the departure of Willie Gay Jr., but when they mug someone like Leo Chenal up and create even numbers up front, his ability to work off blockers and create quick stops allows them to get to longer downs and be aggressive in their pressure-packages. Yet, when they run more stop-drop coverages, Lovett can stay on the field and contribute as a pocket-pusher or someone who frees up lanes by pulling multiple bodies with him. I think he makes that roster or at the very least is one of the first call-ups from the practice squad, and he stands out as people watch the All-22 in DecembeJanuary.

LB Easton Gibbs, Wyoming – Seattle Seahawks

Moving on to the second level of the defense, there wasn’t as obvious a choice at linebacker as last year, but there still a few guys I could see making rosters, at least if they are significant contributors on special teams. One of those names become keen of was the last in line of some quality Wyoming LBs in Easton Gibbs. I first laid my eyes on him during Shrine Bowl week, especially in terms one-on-one reps vs. the running backs in coverage. He displayed quick feet to redirect with opponents and kept them in front of him, to where even if he did surrender catches, he would’ve been right there to set the tackle for minimal yardage. He was asked to move over the slot quite a bit during team drills, where he showed the ability to read the eyes of the quarterback as a quasi-overhang, yet he’d toggle back to targets in his vicinity and his play of the week came at the goal-line, undercutting a slant route, where he would’ve been off to the races for a pick-six. On tape, his closing burst as a delayed blitzer or taking off as a spy popped a few tomes, as well as the force to plow through running backs in protection. At 6’1”, 230 pounds, Gibbs presents a pretty dense build, with a wide chest, strong arms and a powerful lower half. He excels at creating leverage and stepping past the hips of linemen in order to circle around for the tackle when the ball is going his way, yet his lateral mobility to track (wide) zone concepts from the backside is equally strong.
Now, Gibbs can be overly concerned with beating blockers to the spot and loses vision on the ball at times, where he runs himself out of the picture. His transitions as a zone-defender and in open field tackling situations can be a little heavy-legged, leading to a missed-tackle rate of 11.6% across three seasons as a starter. So I thought he projected best as a SAM in a defense that utilizes his edge-setting skills and ability to cover tight-ends. That role doesn’t necessarily exist in Mike Macdonald’s system, but I think if paired with more of a rangy player on the second level, he can be a useful piece. That’s where the pairing with former Dolphin Jerome Baker makes a lot of sense, who can be the one that drops out of mugged-up looks and match up with guys out of the backfield as Gibbs is used as a pressure player. As I look at what else they have on the roster, there’s really only Tyrel Dodson in terms of guys with legit NFL experience, who logged two third of his career starts last season (10). Otherwise, they only have 23 total defensive snaps to show for at off-ball backer. Seattle did draft Tyrice Knight out of UTEP in the fourth round, who is a fun player in terms of the violence he plays with, but it also leads to him running himself out of trouble quite regularly at this point. I think there’s an outside chance Gibbs actually wins that second starting gig at inside linebacker and unless they love what one of those other guys provides on teams, he’s at least LB4 for this group.

.

CB Josh Wallace, Michigan – Los Angeles Rams

This was an insanely deep corner class and it would surprise a lot of people probably to hear there was actual one more selected (36 total) than at wide receiver, which was the topic of discussion alongside the quarterback all draft season. However, there were still a couple left who didn’t end up hearing their names called, who I expect to battle for roster spots. Josh Wallace is one of those, as someone who spent the first four years of his collegiate career at UMass before transferring to Michigan for his final season of eligibility, where he didn’t intercept any passes but did start 11 of 15 contests, with four PBUs, one fumble forced and two recovered. He’s more so average-sized at 5’11”, 185 pounds, but he plays above that weight-class, where he can bother receivers at the line. When he’s playing straight-up press-technique, Wallace does well to deny receivers to get to the edges of his frame, when he’s allowed to shade inside, he can ride guys into the sideline and then he can stop his momentum pretty well. As a zone defender, he showcases impressive recognition for route combinations, is forceful with his hands to funnel targets towards the safety to his side and generally his awareness for down-and-distance and game situations is excellent. On the negative side, he lacks great twitch at the break-point to erase that window of separation receivers are able to create on him, flipping with vertical releases a step early raises concerns around Wallace’s long speed – backed up by running in the high 4.6s at his pro day – and he’s not really a play-maker with the ball in the air, only intercepting three of 32 total passes defensed in his career.
Having said that, he did have an impressive Shrine Bowl week, stacking over top of routes, forcing guys to widen their stem, without allowing guys to detach on him, at one point coming up with an awesome interception in the end-zone during red-zone one-on-ones, walling off his man, getting his eyes back on the quarterback and diving for the ball. And the big case for him is the physical presence he provides out on the perimeter. This guy steps downhill vs. the run with a purpose and is looking to be the one initiating contact with blockers, then aims low as a tackler and significantly cut down his miss rate this past season against top competition, only missing two of 42 attempts. So while we don’t fully know what the structure of the Rams D will look like under new coordinator Chris Shula, taking over the principles and largely personnel of the previous iteration under Raheem Morris, there’s a pretty clear differentiation between the bigger, more hands-on boundary corners like Tre’Davious White and Derion Kendrick, and the quicker field-side options such as Darious Williams and Cobie Durant. White and Williams coming in as free agents, with Williams having familiarity with L.A. already, are slated to start week one, but I think Wallace could battle Kendrick – who had similar speed concerns, which were even more prevalent on tape – for the backup role on the short side of the field, where he’s asked to disrupt receivers early but doesn’t necessarily stick with them all the way across the field, while having help over the top or inside.

.

CB Chigozie Anusiem, Colorado State – Washington Commanders

The other top-30 corner for me who didn’t end up getting selected is someone else I saw early on at Shrine Bowl week but didn’t get to study fully until late in the process. For reference, there were eight guys at that position who got drafted – a couple as early as the fourth round – who I had ranked below Anusiem. Unlike Josh Wallace, I really don’t understand why he ended up not getting taken, since he has even better size at 6’1”, 200 pounds and ran a 4.39 at the Colorado State pro day. A former three-star safety recruit for Cal back in 2018, it took this guy a little bit to find his footing and it took until the final two of his six seasons in college for him to become a fixture in the lineup, once he had transferred to the Rams, where he logged a pick and 12 PBUs across 23 total games. Anusiem operates with good balance and his eyes locked in on the belt of his man from soft-press alignment. He shows the football IQ for what routes to anticipate based on splits and formations, slightly adjusting his technique, and then has 32-and-¼-inch arms to impede to progress of the guy across from him as he commits to the release. He has the wheels to run with just about anybody, his closing burst once receivers try to separate on secondary routes is excellent and then his length allows him to bat down targets others would settle for the tackle on. On 228 snaps in man-coverage over the past two years combined, Anusiem allowed just 12 of 36 targets his way (33.3%) to be completed for 157 yards and one touchdown, while actively forcing nine incompletions. In reality, he might be at his best however playing top-down in quarters and closing on stuff in the flats, where he looks comfortable peaking back at the quarterback, mid-pointing routes and passing along or falling off for targets in his vicinity.
He can definitely get a little too aggressive with wanting to dictate the route development and gets turned the wrong way, leading to some wasted movement – which you saw during Shrine Bowl week against more skilled route-runners – he’s quick to get into that three-quarter turn in deep zone assignments and lose vision of the wideout at times and when he’s attacking downhill against the run, he’s more so just catching ball-carrier, allowing them to drive through him for additional yardage due to his high center of gravity. However, it’s not like he’s missing tackles (just 5.2% of his attempts last season, compared to 6.3% for his entire career) and he’s generally a strong edge-setter, where he’s sliding inside of receivers to create early stops when the ball bounces his way or he punches off receivers with those long limbs, not shying away from sticking his nose in the fan against bigger bodies out on the perimeter. That’s why I thought someone would bet on his traits, teaching him how to hone in his aggressiveness in man-coverage, since he’s pretty reliable against the run from day one. And looking at what new Commanders head coach values from that position, it aligns with a lot that he brings to the table in terms of dictating terms to receivers with a high rate of man-coverage. That’s why they brought in Michael Davis from the Chargers to pair with Benjamin St. Juste, while drafting Mike Sainristil to start in the nickel for the them, but I’m a lot more concerned about last year’s first-rounder Emmanuel Forbes, who was over-drafted based on speed and having a nose for coming up with interceptions. This new front-office isn’t as invested in him to succeed and I could see Anusiem end up as their primary backup on the outside, since he’s a good 20 pounds heavier and fits more with their mantra.

SAF Millard “Nook” Bradford, TCU – New Orleans Saints

Finally, I want to discuss one safety here. This is a class that receive a whole lot of publicity, but taking my top-100 big board and the guys I listed as “the next 30 names”, I had 11 names up there and depending on how you want to define a couple of them who ultimately got picked, there were are 20 selected total.

2024.05.08 16:55 OutThere_2044 My town's pine forest has a secret...

It was seconds, and they were in shreds. Mason, what i saw standing over their shredded bodies has haunted me since then.
Jack had stopped to make sure the door was secure then pointed at his truck and said "get in." After getting in he looked over "I need some coffee" then started the truck up and headed west out of the parking lot towards the coffee shop.
I stepped into the room and... listen I had never seen anything like this before. These two people were in shreds on the bed, they're insides had been yanked out and thrown around the fucking room.

Aaj story ni sunaunga, Aaj tehelka story sunaunga (img change krdi mods)
To all my regarded aspirants have some popcorn and sitback. Y ek aisi kahani h jiske baare m sirf main ar Mera dost jaanta h. The first time he heard this he was flabbergasted.
To mods 🥺: delete mt Krna yaar I'm trying to cope a bit, also science h daba k story m to it's legal :)
~Love, TARS, love. It's just like Brand said. My connection with M*rs, it is quantifiable.
I was 11-12 yr old. Ar jawani aane s pehle mene kudh ko applied science k torch-bearer ki mehtvapoorna zimmedari saunp di thi. Ab marte jeete mera ek hi kaam tha; motor khojke manuj-peedhi k liye zaruri avishkaar krna.
Mere Ghar s kabadi wala kabhi ek tukde m saman ni le jata tha, kyuki jb bhi koi electronic appliance kharab hota tha to ghar ka ek zimmedar beta hone k naate, m uska purn roop s vishleshan krne k baad bolta tha ki Naya lelo ye to ni bnne wala. Ar ab vo lawaris device mere mazboot haatho m aa jati thi. Ar jb kisi ka dhyaan ni hota tha to pechkas, machis, hathodi, bhala-talvaar leke m usko shundar-shundar kr deta tha.
Ek din aise hi purani tv m se ek bhi motor na Milne k baad, main apne agle sikhaar k talash m tha. Ghar p majoor lge the Jo Ghar m kuch fix krre the ar mauka sahi tha. Poore Ghar ka ghanto tk chkkr lgane k baad mujhe kuch kabaad ni mila.. Apun ko lga, aaj science ki haar hogyi h ar duniya ko apne avishkaaro s jagmagane ka sapna, sapna hi reh jayega... Har k seedhi p baithe baithe mujhe Curie ar Archimedes ki yaad aai. Ar mene khudko saameta ar paripakvata ka ek paath pdhaya. “Ni mere jeete-ji, science ni haarega. Ye kaam asan ni h, iss lone torch-bearer of science ki haar aisi choti rukavato s ni hogi.” Aisa smjane k baad ek baad firse mene Ghar scan mara ar apne beeshma pratigya ko safal krne m mujhe sirf maut dikh ri thi. Mujhe kuch aisa mil gya tha jisme sucess rate to find motor ar death rate maximum the. Mere haath peeche hore the tb firse mene khudko smjhaya ki brother soch agar Madam Curie bhi maut s dar gyi hoti to aaj hum manushya kitne peeche hote...
Apne bahubali haatho ka prayog mene uss vish ko uthane m kiya jo meri maut ka karan bnne wala tha. Ar science ka naam leke mene bahar nikala vo kaala, bhaari, dhul m sana hua magar sbse sundar electric appliance: vo DVD player 📀.
Hn vahi DVD player 📀 jo didi hath bhi lgane s mana ki thi. Mummy ne bola tha isko chuoge to taang tod denge.
Maut ka dar ar jeevan ka moh chorke mene pechkas nikala ar fata fat us DVD player 📀 ko dekhte hi dekhte shundar-shundar kr diya. Ar usko kholne k baad smjho kayanaat palat gyi. 1 nahi 2 nahi balki 3 motors. Ab mujse control ni hora tha mene pechkas ki kabiliyat p zyada bharosa kr liya tha (fuck you do muh wale pechkas). Vo chote wale screw apne pe ad gye the, mene pyaar s unhe manane ki koshish ki magar vo mere ar mere namakool pechkas k incompetence p hasse jaa rhe the. “Bhaya binu hogi na preeti”, madam Curie lgataar mere dimag m ye chaupaai bole jaa rhi thi. Naa chahte huye mujhe vo kadam uthana pda jo m ni krna chahta tha.
Mera plan tha: chup chaap kholo. Dheeme s motor nikaalo, motor kabze m aate hi chup chaap dhkaan lga k vapis aa jao jaise kuch hua hi ni tha.
Magar un choote screws ne apni shudra-vyaktitva ko zaahir kr diya tha. Mene apne namakool pechkas ko choda ar apne har dukh k saathi; hathodi ko uthaya. Those screw saw the wrath of lone torch-bearer of Science that day.
Trr trrr khatt-khattt.
Aakhirkaar universe k is mushkil kasauti ko m paar kr gya. Ar ab vo teen motors sirf ar sirf mere the.
Mene nazar-chakshu bagal m ghumaye to DVD player 📀 ka haal dekha ni jaara tha. Isse pehle koi ye murder dekhe, mujhe iss laash ko thikane lgana tha. Maine saare tukdo ko sametna shuru kiya. Ar DVD player 📀 ko antim vidaai di. Plastic k jhole m uss DVD player 📀 ki atim yatra hui ar boht door jaane k baad mene ek sahi location paai; ek koode ka spot jaha kisi ki nazar ni pdegi. Mitti khod k uss DVD player 📀 ki laash ko mene apne Bahubali haathon s thikane lga diya ar vapas Ghar aa gya.
Ghar to aa gya tha but ldai khtm ni hui thi. Chup chap gate bnd krke m didi no 2 k pass gya ar ek plan sochne lga. Didi no 2 tv dekhne m mashroof thi ar bahar s majooron ki awaz aari thi.
Mere shatir dimag m neurons shoot hue ar ek nayab plan soojha. Mene didi ko bola: 😾 ooye paagal! Kyaa krri h?? Ghar m majdoor lge h ar andr aise baithi h! Hosh khabar rkha kriye thoda! Abhi kuch utha k nikl jayenge sb to pta bhi ni chlega! Abhi hm ek bnde ko kal s dekh rhe h us ‘TV AR DVD PLAYER 📀’ k bgl m khada hoke kuch dekhra tha! Sochiye abhi hum ni hote to utha k nikal jata vo ‘DVD PLAYER 📀’! 😾
The idea was incepted. All I needed was it to ripe.
Kuch mahine beete mummy diwali ki safai krri thi ar didi no 1 chilla k bulai. BAABUUU... m iss situation k liye m poorna roop s taiyaar tha. M saamne gya ar bola kya hua. Didi no 1 was on fire. KAHA H VO DVD PLAYER 📀??? I said: ni milra na! Hum bhi khoojre itne din s humko lga aap log chupa k rkhi h. Jeshtha purna roop s vismrit thi. Vo kuch ar kehti usse pehle bagal se didi no 2 aai ar boli hn hum bhi dekhre h itne din s. Humko lgra h vo last time kaam lga tha tbhi s gaayab hua h. Vo sb the bhi chor type k. Mauke ka faida utha k maine bola: hn hn aap to bolri thi na ki dekhi thi kisi ko tv bgl m kuch dekhra tha. And she thought and said: hn hn pta ni kaise kb utha k le gye... Itne m mummy aai ar boli: jaane do kon ab usme dekh bhi rha h movie voovie. And I ended the conversation: jaane dijiye tsk tsk le Jana hi tha to kamse kam humko bta diya hota hum us DVD player 📀 m s motor to nikal liye hote

2024.05.06 14:05 andre_xs95 North/mid Portugal with kids

Dear All,
for the summer (July/August) we're planning a round-trip by car through north-west Spain, down into Portugal (roughly to Nazare), then across Spain to the Mediterranean. This post is about the stay in Portugal, roughly 1.5 weeks.
My wife would like to stay in Nazare for a couple of days / a week or so, so I guess we'll visit Lisbon as a day trip from there. But what other places would be nice, in particular further north? (we need a stop there).
In my mind, Portugal is rather quiet and for nature-lovers, but I'm sure there's also a bit more exciting stuff for kids? (10y/15y)
Last year we did a similar thing through Italy (Venice, 1 week Rimini for swimming, Florence, Pisa, Verona) and it was lovely. We're looking for something similar now.
I've heard that Nazare is less hot in the summer than one would think, in particular the water. is that true, or is Nazare a great place for a beach holiday (in late July / early-mid August)
Any tips and experience welcome!
Best wishes,
Andre
(I may do a separate post for Spain / Mediterranean cost)

2024.05.04 06:14 ucancallmecol Cards Draft/Rebuild Analysis

I have a lot of free time on my hands right now, and I wrote this analysis on the Cardinals draft class and the state of their rebuild. Figured I'd post it here to see what Cardinals fans think. Feel free to read it...or not...whatever. If you do read it though, let me know what you think. I love this team (for better or worse) and I'll definitely keep writing stuff about them especially if other Cardinals fans enjoy it.
~Arizona Cardinals 2024 Draft Recap~
Preface:
I am a diehard Arizona Cardinals fan with a passion for the game of football. I played football in high school, and I like to think that gives me decent insight into the game. However, I am by no means a professional NFL scout, and I could easily be wrong about any of the following players. My analysis is based on hours of scouring scouting reports, news articles, highlight reels, and play tape from websites like Pro Football Focus, ESPN, YouTube, and the NFL (to name a few). This piece is meant to provide a consolidated, in depth breakdown of the Cardinals 2024 draft class to Cardinals fans (or anyone else who might just be curious). I wrote this for fun, and with absolutely no intention to slander any player, coach, or executive mentioned below.

On the Cardinals Rebuild:
2018 to 2022 was a rollercoaster ride for the Arizona Cardinals. With five long NFL seasons that ranged from historically bad, to somewhat promising, to downright tragic, no franchise was in more need of a facelift. To his credit, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill has achieved just that. After several disappointing seasons marked by epic collapses, some questionable contracts, and a devastating injury to franchise quarterback Kyler Murray (not to mention numerous scandals from the front office), Bidwill finally bit the bullet and cleaned house. First, he parted ways with his long-time general manager and friend in Steve Keim; a name met with disdain from Cardinals faithful. Next, he fired his head coach and offensive play caller, Kliff Kingsbury, just one year after giving him a 7-year contract extension (a contract which Kingsbury didn’t coach a single game under in Arizona). Bidwill went on to let go of essentially his entire front office and coaching staff, giving the Cardinals a clean sate to rebuild and start fresh.
The rebuild began when Bidwill hired his next general manager, Monti Ossenfort. Ossenfort came over from the Tennessee Titans, where he spent three years as the Director of Player Personnel. Before that, he spent 14 years in the scouting department for the New England Patriots. Monti is no stranger to success. In his 21 years working in the NFL, his teams made the postseason 16 times. Monti completed phase two of the Cardinals rebuild by hiring the team’s next head coach, Jonathan Gannon. Gannon was the coordinator for a historically good Eagles defense that led the team to Super Bowl LVII in the prior season, a game that they narrowly lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Following Gannon over from Philadelphia was the Eagles linebacker coach, Nick Rallis. Rallis became the next defensive coordinator for the Cardinals, and is widely regarded as a brilliant up and coming young coach in the NFL. Finally, Monti Ossenfort rounded out his new coaching staff by hiring the quarterbacks coach of the Cleveland Browns, Drew Petzing, to be the next play caller for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense. Petzing’s scheme leans heavily on a north south, hardnosed, power-run style of football that starkly contrasts with that of former play caller, Kliff Kinsgbury.
With his coaching staff in place, Monti Ossenfort did what any GM of a rebuilding NFL team would do - cut his losses and accumulate draft capital and salary cap space. That meant a lot of turnover for the Cardinals roster. To put it frankly, any player acquired by the previous regime not named Kyler Murray or Budda Baker was on the chopping block. Just look at the moves Monti made in his first two off-seasons. He cut perennial all-pro receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, from the team and let another star receiver in Marquise “Hollywood” Brown walk in free agency. Players taken high in the draft, like Isaiah Simmons and Rondale Moore, were traded for spare parts. The result in 2023 was a Cardinals roster that ranked among the bottom-tier of the NFL. However, the team played with toughness and a passion for the game that didn’t exist under the prior coaching staff.
While it hasn’t translated to on-field success quite yet, it’s clear that Cardinals leadership is aligned on the direction of the team, and the players have bought into Jonathan Gannon’s coaching style. With another off-season under their belts, Ossenfort and co completely revamped the Cardinals roster. They added a plethora of young, tough, smart, and hungry players to the team, including 21 players through the past two drafts. With that in mind, let’s dive into the 2024 Arizona Cardinals draft class, which features a massive haul of 12 players who are all ready to make an impact in their rookie seasons.

Rd 1 Pick #4: Marvin Harrison Jr. – WR, Ohio State University
- This pick was surrounded by rumor and speculation for the entire offseason. With QBs pretty much guaranteed to go 1-3, the NFL draft essentially began with the fourth overall pick. That left QB needy teams like the Giants, Vikings, Broncos, and Raiders all threatening to trade up to this spot and get their guy before the competition, and Monti Ossenfort showed us last year that he’s more than willing to trade back for extra draft capital. Instead, the Cardinals GM decided to stick to his guns and take whom many scouts flaunted as the best player in this year’s draft. The undisputed best wide receiver in a draft class LOADED with talent at the position, Marvin Harrison Jr. projects to be a difference maker on day 1 for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense.
- MHJ is a big bodied, strong, and fast receiver with virtually zero weaknesses in his game. He’s a polished route runner, who utilizes a plethora of moves to manipulate defenders off the line of scrimmage. He has the size, strength, and soft hands to make contested catches, and the speed to burn defenses over the top. My favorite trait about MHJ is his elite body control, which enables him to make outrageous plays at the boundary. He immediately fills a position of need on a Cardinals offense that already ranked top 10 in the league with Kyler Murray under center last season. With pro comps like Calvin Johnson, Davante Adams, and AJ Green (not to mention the Hall of Fame pedigree from his father), this pick was a no brainer for Monti Ossenfort and the Cardinals front office. Watch out NFL – the K1 to MHJ connection could terrorize defenses for years to come.
- Grade: A+

Rd 1 Pick #27: Darius Robinson – EDGE/DT, University of Missouri
- In last year’s draft, the Cardinals traded the third overall pick to the Texans for a haul of picks that included Houston’s first round pick in 2024. As a result, the Cardinals were on the board at 27 with their second pick in the 2024 first round. With their pick, the Cardinals selected Darius Robinson, a 6’5”, 290-pound defensive lineman from Missouri. While he maybe wasn’t the splashy name that Cardinals fans were hoping for, he fills a massive need on a defensive unit that ranked second to last in the NFL last season.
- Robinson is a big, strong defensive lineman with the versatility to play both inside and out. He’s an instinctive pass rusher, with good hands and long arms that allow him to get to the quarterback. He also has the ability to set the edge and shed defenders to stop the run and make plays in the backfield. The only knock to his game is his speed, which didn’t test at the rate you look for in a typical NFL edge rusher. Overall, Robinson is a high character, intelligent, and violent football player with the versatility to play multiple positions along the defensive line – all traits that head coach Jonathan Gannon looks for in his defenders. He’s a proven leader, who was twice voted team captain of the Missouri Tigers – an achievement that Robinson calls the greatest honor of his life – and has aspirations to become a future head coach. On top of all that, only two SEC defenders received an 80+ pass rush and 80+ run-defense PFF grade since 2021: Darius Robinson and Will Anderson Jr. (the NFL rookie standout who the Texans picked third overall after their trade with the Cardinals in the 2023 draft).
- Grade: A

Rd 2 Pick #43: Max Melton – CB, Rutgers University
- After crushing day 1 of the draft, the Cardinals were poised to pick a much-needed cornerback at the top of the second round. In fact, they were sitting pretty at pick 35, with several big name corners like Cooper DeJean and Kool-Aid McKinstry falling in their laps. However, Monti Ossenfort chose to pivot, moving back to pick 43 in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons that delivered an extra third round pick to the Cardinals. After a run on corners in picks 40-42 that included DeJean and McKinstry, Arizona selected Max Melton with the 43rd pick. Off the bat, this was an unpopular pick amongst Cardinals fans who would’ve rather taken one of the bigger names at 35. However, with time to process the decision, this is now one of my favorite picks in this class.
- Melton is a big, lengthy corner with the speed and versatility to make plays both in coverage and in the run game. He has good instincts for the ball, leading the Rutgers defense in turnovers over the last three seasons. He’s extremely athletic, with a 4.39 40-yard dash that highlighted a top 3-graded combine performance among corners in this class. He improved his game every year in college, and he has the work ethic and attitude to excel at the professional level. One thing is abundantly clear from his tape: once he starts moving down hill, you do NOT want to get in his way. He tackles with a ferocity that will make his team captain, Budda Baker, very proud. He immediately projects as a starter in a Cardinals defensive back room that desperately needs depth and production. He’s also a great special teams player, with three blocked punts in 2022. There’s a very solid chance that the Cardinals would’ve picked Melton even if they stayed at 35, as it seems he greatly impressed Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon in his interviews with the team. Melton even went on to say that within 2 minutes of meeting Gannon, he knew he wanted to play for the Cardinals head coach. If you need more convincing, Melton received high praise form Nick Saban on ESPN’s coverage of the draft. Saban said multiple times that he “really likes this guy” and had him pegged as his sleeper corner of the draft. Still not sure? Melton’s now teammate, Marvin Harrison Jr., gave the pick further props. MHJ tweeted about Melton following the pick, saying he “always respected his game” in their Big 10 matchups. This should be a fun matchup to watch in training camp.
- Grade: A

Rd 3 Pick #66: Trey Benson – RB, Florida State University
- This isn’t exactly a position of need for the Cardinals. Starting running back, James Conner, is coming off a career year rushing for over 1,000 yards and scoring 9 touchdowns in just 13 games. Additionally, Michael Carter proved he’s a viable change of pace back who can backup Conner and make plays in the receiving game. That being said, Conner is now pushing 30 years old in the final year of his contract, and he’s never played a fully healthy season in Arizona. So, with the 66th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Cardinals selected their RB of the future in Trey Benson.
- Many scouts had the Florida State prospect ranked first among this year’s class of running backs, and it’s easy to see why. One of only three running backs to run a sub 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at the combine (4.39), and doing so at 6’0” 216 pounds, Benson is an absolute stud. His tape is full of explosive plays. He has the afterburners to leave defenders in his dust, and the size to break tackles in the open field. He also flashes soft hands and YAC ability as a receiver, which will be a huge asset to a dynamic Cardinals offense. He’ll have to improve as a pass blocker to make it as a consistent starter in the NFL, but the same can be said for pretty much every college RB. Ultimately, Benson is another versatile weapon for Kyler Murray. He projects to have an impact in his first year, whether it’s filling in for Conner or earning his spot as a change of pace back in the passing game.
- Grade: A-

Rd 3 pick #71: Isaiah Adams – OG, University of Illinois
- This is where the draft picks get slightly questionable from GM Monti Ossenfort in my opinion. Adams fills a position of need, but there were several other OL prospects available at this spot in the draft, including Kansas guard Cooper Beebe, who were universally ranked higher on draft big boards. That being said, Adams is another high character player (team captain at Illinois), which seems to be part of Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon’s philosophy. He’s also a proven mauler in the run game, which we know is an emphasis in OC Drew Petzing’s scheme.
- A versatile player at Illinois, Adams started 14 games at left guard and 10 at the right tackle position. His numbers are significantly better at guard, where he projects to play in Arizona, but he was forced to slide over to tackle due to injuries at Illinois. He has quick feet that help him get to the next level in the running game, and he has the size and length to develop as an effective pass blocker. Overall, I’m glad to see the Cardinals front office is finally focused on building the trenches through the draft (something that can’t be said about the previous regime). Physically, Isaiah Adams is exactly what you look for in an interior offensive lineman. While he wasn’t exactly a name on most Cardinals fans’ radar, he clearly fits the mantra and direction that Cardinals leadership has in mind. I would’ve liked to see a higher touted prospect taken at this position, but I’m confident that Monti and Isaiah Adams can prove me wrong. Who knows, if Adams had the opportunity to play at left guard his entire college career, he may have been higher up on most draft boards.
- Grade: B-

Rd 3 pick #82: Tip Reiman – TE, University of Illinois
- Consecutive controversial picks out of Illinois by GM Monti Ossenfort. Tip Reiman quickly became the most polarizing pick among Cardinals faithful. Some fans claim this is a massive reach for a top 90 pick on day 2 of the draft, while others say he’s a good player who fits the Cardinals game plan on offense. I think there’s truth to both sides of the argument. Firstly, this isn’t a position of need for the Cardinals. Trey McBride is coming off a break out season where he was featured as Kyler Murray’s favorite target in the passing game, and Elijah Higgins proved he’s a serviceable backup tight end with play making ability. However, Reiman wasn’t drafted to make plays in the passing game - as shown by his lack of production as a receiver in college. He projects to play primarily as a run blocker, where he displayed an affinity for battering linebackers and defensive ends.
- Once again, Monti Ossenfort and co demonstrated that they prioritize high character and violent play style. According to his coaching staff at Illinois, Tip Reiman only cares about two things: football and family. He’s a football junkie who joins a class of rookies who all play with passion and aggression. It’s hard not to like this guy. He’ll win you over quickly in his press conferences and interviews. Also, he’s a freak athlete. Reiman boasts the highest athleticism score among tight ends at the combine this year, and possesses impressive speed for someone his size (6’5”, 275 pounds). The positive side of the Reiman argument is true – he does fit well in the Cardinals offense. OC Drew Petzing likes to run 12 and 13 personnel to establish and play off of the run game. We already know Reiman loves to run block, and slotting him into that group allows guys like McBride and Higgins to make plays in space. If he’s able to produce in the passing game, especially as a red zone threat, I think the pick will prove worth the reach.
- Grade: C+

Rd 3 pick #90: Elijah Jones – CB, Boston College
- The Arizona Cardinals rounded out their SEVENTH top 90 pick of the draft by addressing another massive need at cornerback. Elijah Jones (surprise surprise) is another highly athletic, highly physical defender who has the maturity and intelligence to succeed at the professional level. Nobody had a higher vertical jump than Jones at the combine (42.5 inches). During his team visit with the Cardinals, Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon were blown away by his ability to walk them through specific plays in his tape. Jones reminded both of them of current Cardinals CB, Garrett Williams, who was one of the few bright spots in a cornerback room that was mostly lacking in 2023.
- After going through his tape, it’s obvious that Elijah Jones loves to play physical. He has the size and length to play in press coverage, and he’s not afraid to get downhill and hit somebody against the run. He shows impressive ball-tracking ability (5 interceptions in 2023 at BC), with good timing and technique to break up the pass in zone coverage. Overall, he’s another depth piece for a cornerback room that was decimated by injuries last season, with the potential to earn a starting job his rookie year. Considering all that I’ve heard, read, and seen about his play style and mindset, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s exactly what he does.
- Grade: B+

Rd 4 pick #104: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson – S, Texas Tech University
- If there’s a player in this draft class that fits the “Budda Baker” mold, it’s Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. While he might be undersized (measuring at 5’10”, 195 pounds), he’s a sound tackler who hits like a bag of bricks. He also has a nose for the ball and good hands for a defensive back, and he plays above his size with the impressive ability to take balls away from larger receivers. His versatility and speed will get him snaps as a rookie, as he has the ability to play the nickel position as well as over the top. I love this pick. The Cardinals found a potential future starter in the fourth round who, at the very least, bolsters their depth and versatility on defense.
- It’s also worth mentioning that Budda Baker is on the tail end of his career, and entering the final year of his contract with the Cardinals. While I’m in no way suggesting that Taylor-Demerson will replace Budda, it’s nice to know that Monti and Gannon are considering the future at safety once he eventually moves on.
- Grade: A-

Rd 5 pick #138: Xavier Thomas – EDGE, Clemson University
- This is an interesting pick from Monti Ossenfort and the Cardinals front office. The Edge position is an area of need that hadn’t really been addressed this off-season (assuming Darius Robinson plays primarily inside). While Xavier Thomas addresses that issue, to say he’s had an up and down career up to this point would be an understatement. He came to Clemson as a five star recruit, but a college career plagued with injuries and illnesses meant that he never quite lived up to the hype. His health issues caused weight fluctuations that stifled his production on the field. Partner that with a COVID year, and we’re looking at a 25-year-old rookie with a six-year stint at the college level. Still, his on-field skills are impressive, and make him a solid value pick at a position of need in the day three of the draft.
- Thomas is a twitched up pass rusher who flashes a quick first step and exciting speed to get around the edge and attack quarterbacks. He’s a rangy defender with a decent ability to shed blocks and make plays against the run. His age and college career might be concerning, but he’s a good fit for the Cardinals’ scheme under DC Nick Rallis. Also, the Cardinals need as much help as they can get on a defensive unit that ranked near the bottom of the league in sacks last season. At the very least, he’ll come into training camp with a little extra something to prove, which is never a bad thing.
- Grade: B-

Rd 5 pick #162: Christian Jones – OT, University of Texas
- Christian Jones has the potential to be tremendous value pick for the Cardinals in the latter half of the 5th round. He’s a durable and versatile player, who started 48 games at both tackle spots for the Longhorns. He’s a mountain of a man at 6’5”, 305 pounds, with a huge wingspan and enormous hands. Jones knows how to utilize his size and strength to bully defenders in the run game. When it comes to pass blocking, his stats are impressive to say the least. According to PFF, Jones allowed only 1 sack, 2 QB hits, and 8 hurries on 511 pass blocking snaps in 2023. He has allowed a 2.6% QB pressure rate since 2021, which ranks 4th best among tackles in college football.
- To be quite honest, I have no idea why Christian Jones fell so far down the draft. The only knock I could find from any analyst on his game was a lack of foot speed, athleticism, and technique to keep up with speedy pass rushers. I’m not sure if that makes sense though, because his pass blocking stats say otherwise. Even Monti Ossenfort told NFL radio that he was surprised to see Jones available at this point in the draft. Maybe it was a lack of competition in the Big 12 that knocked his draft stock down. Although, Alabama defensive end and Buccaneers second round pick, Chris Braswell, claimed that Christian Jones was his toughest matchup in 2023. I don’t know – your guess is as good as mine. It is the fifth round, so temper your expectations, but I think this pick has the potential to be the steal of the draft. At worst, Jones is a depth piece that puts pressure on guys like Kelvin Beachum and Jackson Barton to make the roster in training camp. At best, he’s a reliable swing tackle that brings size and power to the Cardinals offense.
- Grade: A

Rd 6 pick #191: Tejhaun Palmer – WR, University of Alabama Birmingham
- The Cardinals get more receiver depth in the sixth round with Tejhaun Palmer – a 6’2”, 210 pound prospect out of UAB. He has great size, and a wide catch radius that should translate well to the NFL level. However, he’ll have to work on his foot speed and route running to make the roster and find consistent playing time in the league. There isn’t much to be said about this pick. Palmer is a depth piece that finds himself at the bottom of a refurbished wide receiver room in Arizona. Although, Blazers receivers have worked out for the Cardinals before (think JJ Nelson). If Palmer impresses in camp and makes the roster, he could find himself on the field if Michael Wilson struggles with injuries again. Nothing wrong with another big target for Kyler Murray.
- Grade: B

Rd 7 pick #226: Jaden Davis – CB, University of Miami
- With their last pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals add even more depth to a completely overhauled defensive backfield. With four seasons at Oklahoma and one at Miami, Jordan Davis knows what it means to play football on a big stage. However, he failed to make plays on the ball, with only one interception in his college career. He’s on the smaller side, but he plays with speed, athleticism, and physicality. Again, there isn’t much to be said about this pick. Davis will likely struggle to make the team unless the Cardinals cornerbacks get hit with the injury bug again (knock on wood). With that in mind, it’s hard to complain about more cornerback depth for this team.
- Grade: C+

Conclusion:
Grading the NFL draft isn’t an exact science. Any of these players could turn out to be way better or worse than expected. Until we get to see them put on their pads and compete full speed on Sundays in Glendale, nothing is a sure thing. Even then, things can change quickly in the NFL. That being said, Cardinals fans can take away a few definitive facts from Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon’s first two off-seasons.
- Fact number one: Ossenfort and Gannon have a clear-cut image of the type of players they want on their team. They want guys who play with physicality, intelligence, and passion above all. They want players who demonstrate leadership and maturity both on and off the field. They’re more than willing to pass up on big names if they’re players who don’t fit that mold. Let me put it this way – Ossenfort and Gannon want Budda Bakers at every position and every spot on the depth chart. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then you’re probably not a Cardinals fan.
- Fact number two: Monti Ossenfort’s draft philosophy prioritizes team fit over the best player available. In other words, you won’t be the “best player available” in Monti’s eyes if you don’t fit the scheme that his coaches like to run. This is one explanation for the back-to-back picks out of the University of Illinois, which I gave the toughest grades out of this year’s class. Unless you’re a fan of the Fighting Illini, an NFL scout, or just a grade A sicko, there’s no way you heard of Isaiah Adams or Tip Reiman before this draft. The bottom line is they’re great fits for Drew Petzing’s offense, and that’s why Monti spent premier draft capital to get them on the team. All things considered, this should be a welcome change for Arizona Cardinals fans. Think about all the times the Cardinals took the “best player available” or a guy who was “too good to pass up” only to watch them play the wrong position or just flat out not play for half of their rookie contracts. Thankfully, those years are behind us.
- Fact number three: Just to solidify fact number two, Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon draft players who they believe will contribute right away. The cardinals took nine players in the 2023 NFL draft. Eight of those players saw meaningful snaps as rookies, and at least four of them are projected starters in their sophomore seasons. I expect a similar situation with this year’s class of rookies, as the Cardinals used their draft capital to fill positions of need on both sides of the ball. Out of the twelve players drafted, 8-10 of them should see the field in their rookie seasons.
- Fact number four: For the first time in 5+ years, the Arizona Cardinals are aligned as an organization. Ownership, the front office, the coaching staff, and the players all have a clear understanding of the direction the team is heading in and the roles they need to play to get there. The previous regime felt like it was attempting to build a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle with a bunch of pieces from different sets. Now it’s a different story. Bidwill, Ossenfort, and Gannon know exactly what kind of team and culture they’re building. The players in Arizona have confidence that they fit that picture, because they wouldn’t be there if they didn’t.
Overall, it’s an exciting time to be a Cardinals fan. We have a healthy, motivated Kyler Murray who finally gets a full off-season with his new offense. We have exciting young players on both sides of the ball, and a coaching staff who knows how to get the most out of them. We have leadership in Monti Ossenfort and Jonathan Gannon who are building a competitive and professional brand of football in Arizona. For the first time in a long time, the Cardinals are trending in the right direction.

2024.05.03 21:52 United-Extension-917 Commentary and Discussions are anti-KKR.

When KKR won against MI today, more than praising them for their efforts everyone is discussing how MI lost this. Let me remind you the things that were not in our favour
  1. Low score to defend due to batting collapse (Venky and Manish played brilliantly)
  2. Psychological disadvantage of not able to defend 261.
  3. Dew in second innings.
  4. One bowler short.
  5. Deep and Solid MI batting.
  6. Fast bowlers not firing together.
Even after all these we overcame the hurdles and bundled MI at their home ground. That is some achievement. But the talk of the day was how MI played bad. Yes, they played bad and that aspect should be discussed. But atleast for once appreciate the team that won. There was no mention of our bowlers bowling outstanding even with dew. They did appreciate the innings by Pandeyji and Venky and discussed Starc comeback but only 1 or 2 sentences. But never for once have I heard the discussion going towards the captaincy of Sexy Iyer or the impact and discipline of Andre Russell. Or how the whole team contributed in this win.
And it is not only with KKR. Same happens with PBKS, SRH and DC. Used to happen to RR too but this season they are playing some unreal cricket.
In the match where CSK defended against SRH even with heavy dew they were all praise for bowlers and bowling changes by captain. But when PBKS defeated CSK they again started blabbering how Chennai played bad.
I am not at all saying not to talk/discuss about CSK/MI or others but please be a bit unbiased atleast when you are analysing the match. You have your personal shows and events to dickride whatever franchisee you want.

2024.05.02 18:00 happybumblebee2 Streak 2: Open

I decided on my next book I want to read. It will be “Open” by Andre Agassi. Andre is a retired tennis player and an icon of this sport. Although he is a legend, I have to confess that I know nothing about him. I’ve never watched his game (I was quite young when he retired). Additionally, I have never been interested in tennis. I’ve occasionally watched some tennis games, but I’ve never followed tennis news. So why this book? The first reason is high notes of readers and a lot of popularity of the book (in the section of sports biographies). The second reason is the summary which looks very interesting. His life wasn’t always easy and he had a lot of problems to overcome. When I was looking for a book, I found another two books, that I maybe also read in the future. The first one is about Kobe Bryant and the second about Robert Enke. About the former, I’ve never watched a NBA game. About the latter, I’ve never before heard this name. But both books seem interesting.

2024.05.01 05:41 Dead_beat_dummy Problem Player Throws Tantrum over PC's Animal Companion

So, this is a bit of an update on my story about Local Shonen Protagonist, Andre, and well, pretty much the title.
To put a very long story short; Party is preparing to do a heist, and Andre being Andre, missed the prior session's prep work so I had to bring him up to speed. Basically, the party is trying to assassinate Irena's parents, because they've been overstepping their boundaries in the criminal underworld and a myriad of other reasons that I don't really have time to get into (As much as I want to).
As such, the party is supposed to hash out ideas, and were ya know--working together to come up with a plan. Nothing's off the table, and I, as the DM, was doing my best to help them out with their plan, from telling them what's probable, what's difficult, all the ins and outs of the estate, ya-know so they can come up with a kick-ass plan.
During this time, I thought it would be a very good opportunity to try and involve Andre at the table and see what ideas he had. And admittedly, it was a good idea. The party's plan involved creating a diversion with the wizard throwing spells out in the Garden and causing chaos, while a separate team snuck around the mansion, and a third team dealt with the parents, and Andre proffered the idea of a sniper. When I began to explain the surroundings, not necessarily explicitly or implicitly telling him that it would be kinda hard (Like disguising as a Guard that I had explained earlier), he thought that was me shutting him down, when that wasn't the case. But we'll circle back to that.
After this point, we had a side tangent at the Table; The Fighter-Warlock, Irena has an animal companion, named Twigg, a little Raven with three pink eyes and a scarf that she uses to speak through because she had her throat slashed and vocal chords damaged, and is specifically a part of her pact boon (Metal as Fuck I know). Now Andre has actually never heard Twigg's real voice--which also long story short, Twigg normally just says "Twigg," but if you cast speak with animals on him, you get comedy incarnate from a potty mouth so foul it'll make a sailor blush.
When the party wanted to introduce Twigg's gut-busting hysteria to Andre--he starts getting pissy and says "When are you gonna learn he's just a bird!" and "You need to stop taking him so seriously." Basically projecting what he thinks onto the group snapping at us with a whole buncha other forgettable crap.
The group interjects and tell him "you are the only one who's literally taking him seriously." I then Interject to mediate the discussion and say "What do you have against Twigg? What problems are there that we need to discuss--"
To which he goes on to say "Well--my mother taught me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all."
Be that as it may, I the DM deserve to know what's going on, and what needs to be said so I can understand the full context of the situation. If there's an issue that needs to be resolved your supposed to talk to me, I'm trying to help you. But the thing is--Andre is the type of guy to bottle up his anger and emotions rather then tell us and speak only vaguely, which does nobody's favors.
After about five minutes of back and forth about Andre's recent table manners, he explained to me that he feels like an outcast at the table and most of us pointed out, myself included that he did it to himself by disassociating with the group instead of interacting with others. At any point during the session thus far, he could've interjected with a point, an idea or a plan about the heist and bounced it off me, or the players.
To Andre's Credit, after our discussion at the table, to Circle back to Andre's plan--he immediately began to get involved and created a good line of logic; using the gag of being an escort for one of the guests at the party, he would get in, set up a nest on the roof, and help the Wizard with her distraction. Rolling with that idea, I offered the idea of having the Syndicates plant someone in the guest room and have Andre serve as their +1 to the party, and told him to be very mindful of what he takes in, as he will not have access to their full armaments of weapons, only what they can smuggle in.
But shortly after that entire line of thought was complete, Andre promptly fucked back off to nowhere-land and disassociated from the group--missing an extremely important character note that had a party member literally in tears, until he promptly left for work without a care in the world.
