2024.05.29 05:49 GochuBadman What Would You Recommend Instead of Minoxidil?

I was about to take minoxidil before stumbling onto this subreddit.
I'm all too familiar with suffering from health issues not common or well recognized, so I take the anecdotal reports from this subreddit more seriously.
I have cervical spine issues, so much of the symptoms I see listed here (i.e. brainfog) I already deal with and would rather not compound with potential minoxidil side effects.
Knowing what you know now, what hair growth treatments would you recommend instead for someone that wanted to take minoxidil? Willing to try pretty much anything so long as it's safe.

🔗Water Buffalo Leather .22 Revolver Holster for Single Action Wheelguns

https://preview.redd.it/9v0npruxda3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=acc0e59e8a4483add5090ce5fada71c2bbcd7eb4
I've been using the Versacarry. 22 Cal. Single Action Revolver Holster for a while now, and I've got to say it's a pretty cool accessory to have. It's made from premium water buffalo leather, which is quite a step up from the average holster material. The sturdy belt loop ensures that your revolver stays securely in place, even when you're on the move.
One downside I noticed is that it only supports single-action. 22 caliber revolvers, so if you're using a different kind, you'll have to look elsewhere. But overall, I'm really happy with this holster. It's well-made, and the quality is top-notch. I've had no issues with it so far, and I'm confident it'll serve me well in the future.

🔗Durable 22 Cal. Single Action Revolver Holster for Wheelgun Lovers

I recently tried out this Versacarry. 22 Cal. Single Action Revolver Holster, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by its sturdy construction and comfortable fit.
Made from premium water buffalo leather, this holster is well-suited for all those. 22 reproduction Colt Single Action Army revolvers and similarly sized wheelguns. What stood out to me the most was the secure belt loop and open bottom design, which provided a snug fit without any unnecessary bulk. Overall, this is a great choice for any cowboy looking to protect and carry their. 22 Cal single action revolver in style.

🔗Concealed Carry Inside-the-Waistband Handgun Holster

https://preview.redd.it/7ardd8lyda3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7168c26a1c9a9fdbc5481141f9d8d9e3bc5e6bd
As a frequent user of this Inside-the-Waistband Handgun Holster, I must say it has its pros and cons. Firstly, the lightweight design featuring a sturdy nylon shell and soft brushed tricot interior is a boon for me. It effectively safeguards my 9mm auto handgun without compromising on comfort.
However, the metal spring clip, though handy, sometimes slips over the top of my pants or belt, which can be a bit inconvenient. Also, the 3.5-inch size works great for my Ruger LCP, but it might be a bit too snug for larger models.
Another feature I appreciate is its versatility as it can be used as a hip holster or inside the pants, allowing for an adjustable and comfortable fit. Despite its excellent qualities, the holster lacks a retention strap, which can be a drawback, especially when you're on the move.

🔗North American Arms Mini-Rev Pocket Holster 22MAG for Enhanced Precision and Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/fzlxd1yyda3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdd1f9a0f6674a08b6323322ee6b3c62d7725963
As a fellow gun enthusiast, I recently came across the North American Arms Mini-Rev Pocket Holster 22MAG and decided to give it a try. Having used it for a while now, I must say it has made a notable difference in my shooting experience.
The first thing that stood out to me was the secure grip it provides for my mini revolver. It holds the weapon firmly in place, which ultimately enhances my precision and accuracy during target practice. However, I must admit that the holster's size can be a bit of a drawback at times. It may not be the most suitable option for those who prefer a larger holster for their mini revolver.
Despite its minor flaws, the North American Arms Mini-Rev Pocket Holster 22MAG has proven to be a reliable and comfortable accessory for my mini revolver. If you're looking for a secure and compact solution for your mini revolver, this pocket holster might just be the perfect addition to your arsenal.

🔗Desantis Wild Hog Ruger GP100 Holster - Ambidextrous Leather Cross Draw Option

https://preview.redd.it/hk8u9zczda3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b74f74f275a5fbc010d35dfe882bd476234add6
The Desantis Wild Hog Holster is a versatile and comfortable option for carrying your Ruger Single Six 5.5" Revolver. Made from top-quality leather, it fits snugly around your waist and can be worn cross draw or with a forward cant. Its belt accommodating design allows you to adjust the tension for a perfect fit, ensuring your gun stays securely in place throughout the day.
While the Wild Hog may be a bit heavier on your pocket, it's a reliable, durable, and stylish choice for any revolver enthusiast. Overall, if you're looking for a holster that provides both style and functionality, this leather holster is worth considering.

🔗Stylish Space Cowboy Holster for H&K 45 Revolver

https://preview.redd.it/crwg72ozda3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97f56c670ff99530f82976b6c8173e40de36db9a
As a gun enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for premium quality holsters to keep my scoped revolvers secure. So, when I came across the Triple K Space Cowboy Holster, I knew it was worth a try. The full-grain leather holster is certainly a sight to behold, with its classic design that's both stylish and functional.
What stood out to me was the sturdiness and security the holster offered. It was a perfect fit for my Smith and Wesson 629 Stealth Hunter, with its 7.5" barrel. I appreciated the tie-off leg strap, which added stability and ensured my holster stays in place during all my outdoor adventures.
However, I found the price quite steep for the level of craftsmanship involved. The belt loop's snap mechanism feels a tad flimsy and might not be the best fit for larger and heavier revolvers.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I would still recommend the Triple K Space Cowboy Holster to any gun enthusiast looking for a premium, high-quality holster to keep their prized scoped revolver close at hand.

🔗High-Quality, Durable 22 Revolver Holster for Women

https://preview.redd.it/zlf0p450ea3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24c4793ec0174fea82ac1a7894e1ecdf959266ab
I recently had the chance to try out this Hilason Western Right Hand Gun Holster Rig, and let me say, it's a pretty impressive piece of equipment. First off, the holster itself is beautifully crafted, with a genuine leather finish that gives it a nice, old-timey cowboy feel. The stitching was tight and precise, and the metal core casing made it unbreakable and non-collapsible.
One thing that stood out to me was the holster's versatility. Not only does it fit most barrel lengths ranging from 4 to 8 inches, but it's also been designed with a leg tie and leg flap behind the holster, enhancing its durability and comfort. This made it perfect for a daily wear gun holster, whether I was walking around town or out on the range.
That being said, there were a couple of things that I wasn't completely thrilled about. For one, the holster does have quite a few holes punched an inch apart, which could make it a bit confusing to figure out the correct size for your specific pants. While the provided measurements worked for me, I can see how this could be an issue for others.
Additionally, while the gun holster fits most barrel lengths, it's made specifically for a right-handed shooter, which could make it a bit limiting for left-handed shooters looking to use this holster.
Overall, though, I've really enjoyed using this Hilason Western Right Hand Gun Holster Rig. The combination of its high-quality craftsmanship and versatile design make it a top choice for any gun enthusiast looking to up their holster game.

🔗Quality Western-style leather holster for 703 Revolver

https://preview.redd.it/1u1qu8f0ea3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cc31a3c84328ee28be4e18682b057260b95170e
The Denix Old West Leather Holster is a must-have accessory for anyone who loves the authentic feel of the Wild West. Not only does it look the part, but it also feels and functions like a genuine holster should. The craftsmanship is evident in the beautifully tooled leather design, which adds a touch of class to your 1873 non-firing replica or Colt Peacemaker pistol.
One of the things I appreciate most about this holster is the ease of use. The right-draw design ensures that your firearm is always easily accessible when you need it, and the adjustable leg-tie makes it comfortable to wear for extended periods. The shell loops on the belt are a nice touch, as they accommodate the replica shells that fit these pistols, adding another level of realism.
As with any product, there are a few minor drawbacks. The holster isn't the most compact option out there, which can make it a bit tricky to carry around if you're planning to go somewhere where you might need to hide your firearm. Additionally, the medium waist size might not be perfect for everyone, so it's something to consider before making a purchase.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Denix Old West Leather Holster. It's a top-quality product that adds a touch of authenticity to any enthusiast's collection. If you're looking for a durable, functional, and stylish holster that captures the spirit of the Old West, this is the one to get.

Buyer's Guide

An adjustable retention system allows you to customize the tightness of your holster to suit your needs. Material and Build Quality

The material and build quality of your 22 revolver holster play a crucial role in its overall durability and functionality. High-quality materials, such as tough nylon or ballistic nylon, combined with sturdy construction, will ensure that your holster can withstand the rigors of regular use without succumbing to wear and tear.

Comfort and Concealment

Comfort is a major consideration when selecting a 22 revolver holster. Look for a holster that is well-designed and offers adequate support, eliminating the need for any pressure points. Gun Shape and Fit

It's vital that your 22 revolver holster is designed to accommodate the specific shape and dimensions of your firearm. A well-fitting holster is essential for proper retention and easy access to your weapon when needed most.

2024.05.29 05:40 slahora natural alternatives

Hello. I am new here. Thank you for the add. I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease a year ago. I went off prozac & a few other meds I absolutely did not need to give my liver a break & I dropped weight as well due to strict healthy diet & likely the pounds I put on by being on prozac. Weight loss & healthy eating reverse fatty liver. I stopped estrogen as well because thats high on the drug induced liver injury list. Well I am menopausal and lately in a slump. I am sad & anxious. I will go back on prozac but only if I absolutely have to. Usually these flare ups pass for me, but I am in that stage of not liking how I feel. I was looking into St John wort, low injury to liver but it interacts with so many meds & lots of side effects. I take statin & blood pressure pills. I also looked at 5 htp but I cant find info on its effect on liver. I will definately be starting l theanine for anxiety and magnesium for better sleep. I just need something natural for the depression.

2024.05.29 05:34 mat3rialg0rl Looking a Good Retinol

basically, i’m looking for something that can reduce the appearance of acne scars and uneven skin tone.
i’ve been using the inkey list 1% serum for the past few months but haven’t noticed a difference. in the past, i’ve used skinceuticals 0.5% which definitely produced results, BUT it’s sold out on their website every time i check. i just want to start something new ASAP because i scar so easily and i’m tired of the “1 step forward 2 steps back” progress i keep experiencing.
i’ve also heard great things about drunk elephant, murad, & paula’s choice - however, my skin is definitely on the dryer side and their stuff seems to be pretty concentrated compared to what i’m used to as of now. however, i know the “sandwich method” can help with this so i’m open to trying regardless.
i’m well aware everyone’s skin is different, so what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. that being said, i’m basically just looking for something that is effective in treating my biggest concerns but also not super abrasive.
thanks in advance!

2024.05.29 05:27 ohhhhlorrrrddymy Weird Blood Test Results after Finasteride use (Advice Appreciated)

Hi y’all, I was curious if I could get some advice here. I took finasteride for about 4 months and due to some side effects I stopped taking it. As per doctor instructions and honestly I wanted to stop as well. The results were great for hair but I’d rather be bald then have the trouble with ED I was having. 2 weeks after stopping I could fuck like a horse and literally needed to masturbate like twice a day. This lasted about a week and then I crashed. It’s been about 5 and 1/2 to 6 weeks now off and I still have some major issues.
I took a blood test last week and my testosterone levels are relatively normal? 531 ng/dl which isn’t bad or out of range. The major flag for me is my free testosterone which is 7.8 pg/nl. This is normal or a 50 year old and I’m currently 26 so this is cause for concern. I’m curious if this is an indicator that I have permanent effects. Maybe this is normal?
I know it takes about 3 months to fully heal but I’m scared of all the stories of people having side effects permanently, shrinking members, etc.
If anyone’s gone through this and has some insight, PM me or comment here. I would greatly appreciate it.
I am working with a medical provider but human anecdotes would be appreciated here.

2024.05.29 05:25 Lownotsohigh I'm so done with Prozac!

I've had a crappy day. Took my 10mg this morning (8am) went back to sleep for a couple hours, woke up and have felt awful ever since. My chest has been so aggravating. It's so hard to explain but when I got up it was like a bunch of little heart beats scattered all around my chest and they were all going fast at different beats. Fluttery at times.
But I've been so fatigued today and my jaw is annoying me at the moment. I'm laying in bed now and it's all just so much to deal with at once. I can feel my heart beating. It's not too fast but it's not slow. It's got a steady beat but I hate that I can feel it all day everyday.
5 weeks in and I'm so ready to throw in the towel on Prozac. I just don't think I can do it anymore. 😕 I'm miserable all day everyday. You would think by now I wouldn't be having all these side effects. I literally cooked dinner tonight and had to sit down multiple times because of my heart racing and just feeling like I just couldn't stand there long. 😩 I miss my Zoloft and wish it hadn't stopped working. 😪

2024.05.29 05:14 Sufficient_Hippo_299 Constipation and acne?

I read side effects of constipation and acne. Does it happen to everyone? Will it go away after a few weeks? I’m worried as I am already experiencing constipation. Good thing I’m not experiencing acne (GOD FORBID).

2024.05.29 05:14 Competitive-Value663 Can barely keep my eyes open at work - does this go away?

I appreciate this community so much. Thank you all for the posts and advice, I feel in good company here overthinking everything lol.
I know this might be more of a question for a doctor, but if anyone has thoughts, I’d love advice.
I started on 25mg spiro 3 weeks ago, and while it has helped a lot with my face and body acne already, I can barely stay awake during the day.
I am prone to migraines and have been getting more of them recently. I take Nurtec for migraines + have gotten Botox for them.
I also have ulcerative colitis and am on biologics for that + low dose lexapro (so really a cocktail of meds).
Took my blood pressure today and it was 99/61. Kinda low right?
I drink 50-65 oz water daily, so maybe that’s not enough, but I kind of just have a feeling that this medication isn’t right for me.
Sorry that was a lot of info, but if anyone has had any similar side effects or similar other factors, I’d love to hear!

2024.05.29 05:12 smuggymcsmuggleson Sad Day

Today I went and saw my dr because I'm 2 months in on semaglutide compound, stepping up dosage as directed-I'm up to 1.5mg... and nothing. No appetite suppression. No loss. No constipation. No hair loss. No nausea. No side effects. Nothing. She said 80%of her semaglutide patients are on 1mg or less. She suggested I tried tirzepatide rather than push through with semaglutide because it would be cost prohibitively if I was needing 2.4mg per week. So, I'm going to try it. She said if I don't respond on this she will not be able to continue to treat me without it becoming very expensive. (It's a medspa.) She said 4 of her 180 patients have not been responsive to either medication. I'm bummed. And fat. Fat and bummed. lol

2024.05.29 05:12 elkiyv my psych's taking me off seroquel! 🥳🥳

was on seroquel nearing a year now at varying levels. my body never got used to it and the side effects were a little brutal to say the least.
i thought i would adjust to the lethargy after a few months, but even now it's a battle to wake up and im on a low dosage. id sleep 10-14hours if i didnt force myself up via my full goddamn bladder 😭 for the rest at of the day, i would still be so tired. my productivity went to the gutter.
ive never experienced hunger like i have while on this med. my cravings were so strong... id be so hungry that id eat my regular sized meal (that usually got me satiated till the next meal) and still feel a hungry. when id try to ignore the hunger, just like an hour later, it was like i had never eaten at all. id be starving again—i would literally feel my stomach rumbling and making noises.
of course, i drank tons of water and balanced my meals and snacks as best i could.. but sadly, you can still gain weight on fruit and veg if you eat too much of it.
before this, my weight usually remained the same even when i was idle. after this, my waist went up by 5cm😭
after i told him my struggle, my psych told me, "really? i couldnt tell you gained weight"... thank you, but ive stopped wearing tight fitting clothes for a reason 😅
luckily, he said we'll reduce the dosage and after a couple of months, he'll take me off it and see if i'll still be stable on just lithium and lamotrigine. he also referred me to a dietician who i hope can help me.
weight has been my biggest insecurity. im so glad im going off of it.

2024.05.29 05:11 PajamaPirate333 Daily Shoe Spotlight hyperdunk2012

After trying them on, I found that as someone with narrow feet, low arches, and flat feet, size 45.5 fits me perfectly. The sizing runs slightly small by about half a size, with a narrow shoe last that doesn't press on the instep. The high-top design provides excellent ankle support and flexibility! When worn statically, they provide a slightly gradual sense of weight distribution.

Cushioning: 3/5 Initially, the Lunarlon cushioning in the forefoot and heel was distinct, offering a soft, bouncy feel. However, over time, like neighboring Bounce cushioning, it deteriorated rapidly and lost its effectiveness. Eventually, it felt like pure foam. So, I'd recommend these more to agile players who don't rely heavily on cushioning.
Lockdown: 4/5 Once laced tightly, they provide a snug, natural-feeling lockdown, even better than the previous generation. The only issue is the exposed flywire on the sides, which can get damaged outdoors by debris. But they fit well for flat-footed players like me.
Breathability: 3/5 The ventilation is more noticeable on the sides than the toe box, but overall, it's not as breathable as the previous version. After a game, expect normal sweating, nothing excessive.
Traction: 5/5 The full-length crystal outsole with rubber traction and a mechanical-like pattern is classic and works well both indoors and outdoors. Movements on the court are smooth, and braking is swift without concerns.
Lateral stability: 4/5 The midsole's shape, resembling an inflated tire, provides adequate cushioning, and the shoe's upper has enough strength to support the foot, reducing the risk of rolling over. But ultimately, it depends on your ankle strength.
Foot-shoe integration: 4/5 It's like wrapping your foot in foam, incredibly lightweight, making running effortless without causing any discomfort or chafing. The gait is light and fluid. The only downside is the lack of explosiveness during straight-line acceleration. I'd recommend these for agile and graceful players!
Overall: 3.8/5 If they had Zoom cushioning in both the forefoot and heel, they would be explosive! The combination of lightweight design and foot-shoe integration is rare. Coupled with their refined aesthetics, they truly stand out in the sneaker world! They're suitable for medium-sized players who have a graceful playing style, preferring driving and shooting.

2024.05.29 05:11 necroh0e Lumryz: My Experience

Hello fellow narcoleptics!
I'm officially 2 months on Lumryz. For context, I was prescribed Xyrem in 2018, switched to Xywav in (I believe) 2020, and just began Lumryz 2 months ago. I'm going to try my best to be brief as I go over all of my thoughts on it and how it has affected me/how it compares. For reference I take 7.5g packets.
tldr: taste is fine, works faster and for longer, bedwetting biggest symptom, mental state on it improved.
  1. Taste
I was warned by my doctor that Because it is like a sand mixture that you mix with water, the experience is pretty gnarly. I will say that the texture is very strange, but if you just swallow it without swishing it around in your mouth, you can kind of get past that. I have always mixed my medication with water mixed with crystal light lemonade mix. I highly recommend this it's super easy and makes the taste much more bearable. But honestly it just tastes salty. Not too bad.
  1. Effectiveness
I knew before I started Lumryz that it is very fast acting. Especially compared to the Xywav which, after taking it for so many years, had lost its potency and it would takes HOURS for me to settle down into sleep. My doctor said that Lumryz usually helps people fall asleep within 30 minutes, and because I have a high tolerance, I would probably conk out at just under an hour. The first night that I took it I started to feel extremely heavy within just 30 minutes. I was awake, but HEAVILY impaired, miles beyond what I used to feel on Xywav. I think at around 1 hour 15 mins I was out. Now, at the 2 month mark, I would say it takes 45 minutes to start to feel it, and I fall asleep between one to two hours, depending on how tired I am. so much faster than the Xywav!
  1. Side effects (after taking)
First Time
The first week I took Lumryz was crazy. It made my body feel incredibly heavy and I also felt mildly dizzy but not in a nauseating way. The second night I had spilled juice on my floor and got down to wipe it up and fell asleep on the floor in what must have been minutes! I woke up a couple hours early in a crazy delirious state, for a couple seconds LITERALLY having no idea if I was at home or in my dorm room (which I was in). And I am not talking like forgetting for a couple seconds, I literally looked around and saw my dorm room but was convinced it was my bedroom at home and even that I could hear my parents talking down the hall. It was insane. I got into my bed though and went back to sleep and woke up fine.
Bedwetting
The worst side effect of the Lumryz for me (in the beginning) was the bedwetting. Even if I would pee right before taking it, it's like every other night my bladder would just empty (thank god for free laundry at my school...) I asked my doctor and he said that once my body was more used to the medication, I should stop bedwetting so frequently. He was right! After a month the bedwetting had stopped. Im sure that it will happen again someday, as I am sure other people on Xywav/Xyrem and Lumryz would agree with, but it isn't happening so frequently. To anyone switching to Lumryz, I would recommend going to sleep with a maxi pad on for the first couple of weeks.
Dreams
My dreaming has been so strange on Lumryz. It's too much to detail here in this already long post, so I think i'll do a separate post about this because there's a lot to break down.
Hunger and Nausea
My nausea has been about the same being on Lumryz vs Xywav. I have been prescribed Zofran for about as long as i've been on my narcolepsy meds. Next, the hunger. I know all of you Xywav takers know about how insatiably hungry you get on that medication, how you'll break into any nook and cranny, searching for any morsel of food. This was another main reason why I switched to Lumryz. The extreme hunger is definitely not the same as when I was on Xywav. It is not anywhere near as intense. I still get a bit hungry on it though, and this is probably heightened by the fact that I eat dinner at 6 PM and take my medication for sleep at 11 PM. I'm sure that anyone would get hungry after five hours. I would recommend eating a large snack about an hour before. If I'm going to bed with a more full belly, I usually don't get so hungry.
Staying asleep
Not only has Lumryz helped me fall asleep faster, but I also usually stay asleep for longer. For the past week or so, I've been waking up at anytime between 4 and 5 AM, but I'm able to fall asleep again within 30 minutes usually. I think this waking up is exacerbated by consuming food after taking Lumryz. I'm also more likely to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer if I have gotten physical activity that day. I have MDD, so it's common for me to not do much other than sit around for a whole day. However, when I get exercise, my sleep is so much better.
Mental Health on Lumryz
Another huge negative side effect I would experience while on Xywav was a fucked up mental state. Xywav would amplify suicidal or depressive thoughts for me, and it would be really bad if I was already in a bad mood. Though Lumryz works similarly, I do usually fall asleep much faster so the thoughts don't have time to get too bad. Lumryz usually makes me more confused than suicidal though.
Okay, that's mostly it. Feels free to ask me any questions you want.

2024.05.29 05:10 ilovecinnamon420 Ketotifen causing bladder pain/IC as side effect

Anyone else experienced this?
I seem to be the only one on the whole entire Internet. After trialing the drug starting to develop debilitating bladder symptoms, I thought I was developing IC, I went off of it and started hydroxyzine instead. My bladder symptoms dissipated after Ketotifen, but before hydroxyzine.
Recently, I’ve been in a really bad GI and neurological flare, so I went back on the Ketotifen and it helped immediately with my G.I. symptoms, but now my bladder pain is back!! Like wtf, the only thing there helps with my GI is cause intense pain in my balder. Do I try cromlyon now instead?? Hydroxyzine is supposed to help with bladder pain, but I wonder if it won’t help cause it’s a side effect of the Ketotifen.
Safe to say, I think this is a case of correlation equals causation. Anyone else??

2024.05.29 05:10 wheres__my__towel Blind LMSYS Chatbot Arena

Why is the LMSYS arena not blinded? Rankings would be much more trustworthy if biases could not exert an effect on users' ratings.
If there is no reason, then consider this a call for blinding in the future. User would select each model and then their responses would be randomly displayed on either side, with the user rating each response, and then when they are finished with their sequence of prompts the identity of each could be revealed and subsequent prompts/ratings would be prevent.

2024.05.29 05:09 Due-Bicycle-1778 Ditching an SSRI

Hi everyone, I’m 28F and I’ve been on Lexapro since I was 14. Doses have varied between 5 and 20mg at different points in my life (with doctor guidance) and there have been times where I have weaned off and was off the med for almost 2 years entirely with no withdrawal symptoms and I was doing fantastic, but life happened and I needed it again.
I’ve always experienced the sexual dysfunction as a side effect to the extreme: no orgasms, no self-lubrication, and I’m getting to the point where I can absolutely sick of it.
I talked to my doctor about Genesight but they are not a provider, nor are they willing to consider it. I am desperate to get off an SSRI and have a normal sex life with my husband for the first time in my life.
Has anyone had success leaving Lexapro and switching to a non-SSRI and gaining sexual function back?? Thanks!

2024.05.29 05:07 DefiantYesterday4806 Debunking, "If there was a conspiracy, someone would say something because humans are incompetent."

The idea that humans in large numbers lack competency, and so therefore a conspiracy would be practically impossible completely misses the point. Actually, the fact that humans are insanely incompetent and low-information is why conspiracies are everywhere and almost never go noticed. In fact, people DO speak up often and whistleblow and NO ONE LISTENS.
Part of the issue here is epistemological. We think we know about the world. Why do we think that? First of all, human brains are built to conceive of about 150 people around them. Urbanization breaks our brains, and because we're not built for it, we consistently process our impression of society wrong.
School and media are huge and very simply blunt instruments to provide us with a better impression of the massive urban society around us. Most of what we think we know comes from here. Yes, it's true that false information can be contradicted and humans actually can be quite logical with plain, clear facts. However, we have other social instincts which prevent this from happening.
We humans mostly tend to intuitively perceive what kinds of beliefs others have and give massive weight to that while filtering possibly complex or confusing facts in our heads. While some of us and some cultures are much more sophisticated and cynical about media, there are TONS of demographics (i.e.: young women) who psychologically interpret literally anything the media presents as representative of the actual tastes and preferences of that abstract 150 people the brain is built to perceive. Simply because the media exists and promotes one point of view, it means that this must be the position of those in the tribe with power.
Experienced, educated professionals will constantly filter inconvenient information in favor of adjusting to what the group believes. Smarter, 110-130 IQ "midwits" will actually recognize something is wrong, but will rationalize the emotional inconvenience and build explanations or narratives so they can cope. <110IQ people can't construct these rationalizations, and if they're low-IQ enough they can't even understand them, so this is why dumb people often perceive conspiracies that highly intelligent people observe, because the layer of rationalization doesn't appear to them. >140 IQ literally cannot use these rationalizations because their brains see right through them and you have to be a psychopath to ignore what you see. 110-130 IQ people ACTUALLY BELIEVE these rationalizations, that's the point. They ego invest in them and will fight their own kin to squash anyone noticing malicious behavior systemic to institutions. This is partly because, these midwits as the supreme managerial class, so effectively rationalize, they can operate in corrupt environments without being aware of the corruption. Thus they are rewarded immensely, given titles or big salaries, and become personally invested in the fraud while also consciously believing there's no fraud.
As an adult who has noticed all this from experience in the military, ecclesiastical, academic, corporate (never medical sadly) sectors, these patterns seem universal. You know the store manager who has the keys to lock up? Well, when they open up to their buddies and drink a little of the merchandise and throw a little party or whatever, if corporate can't tell, then why wouldn't they? Not everyone who has power will abuse it, but anywhere power is held, someone will abuse it. Abuse of power is a very casual thing, and at a minimum, some percentage of human personality types will always do it. The go-getters and doers especially trend toward a willingness to abuse power, and that's part of the problem. Other humans have specific instincts to submit to the powerful and almost take pleasure when they are on the good side of a psychopath who is abusing a third party.
Here you might say, "Gee, you have a cynical view of humanity." Sorry, the day a college kid can stand up and assert a point of view that's not social consensus, and have even 10% of the class change their minds and support him merely from considering the argument, then maybe I'll be more optimistic. No, people are cowards who are constantly trying to fit in, mostly most people are pretty dumb, and actually most people disdain those who refuse to fit in and don't care at all about the group's corruption. See, kids who are instinctively socially breaking from their parents will oppose the society of their parents. But kids will never oppose, not ever, not at scale, the social momentum of other kids unless there are other kids of clear divisions like racial or religious.
Therefore, I would propose that not only is society full of conspiracies at every level, but actually society functions on the basis of conspiracy. Small group loyalties and hierarchies form nodes around which institutional structure can build larger organizations. I was in the military which is full of formal authority, laws and rules. The reality of it is all that was a distraction to make people put up with a system that is more about little cliques among officers and so forth that sort everything out behind closed doors. Sure, norms, laws, rules, training smooth things out, allow interchangeability, but real decisions are made selfishly by some leader and they have quidproquo with colleagues and that bubbles up to the top. So whatever stupid beliefs they have about their organization or its values, they take with them to the top where someone like a general wields real power. Yet, such a person is sort of "endowed" with that position by his clique-community, and so they must fight for that community's values in the confines of that community's worldview, which might be totally inaccurate.
With this in mind, here is your final graduation thought experiment.
I've tried to understand the Ukraine war.
Right now Russia is playing on its former Soviet era diplomatic network so it's leaning into "white neocolonialists who think they have superior values exploit brown people because of theft and racism." But they're also simultaneously playing the newer, libertarian narrative of a progressive managerial elite which has hijacked the Western bureaucracy. It's sort of insane how they do this. Like how they exalt Orthodox religion but also insist Stalin did nothing wrong, which not even the post-Stalin USSR believed.
The anti-neocolonialist narrative says that rich whites want to steal resources from poor browns. This is factually what's happening, but the tragic irony is that many third world countries probably couldn't develop or benefit from these resources without first world help. So, there's both an argument against neo-colonialism, but also an argument that it's not like this big scam so much as a natural consequence. What it boils down to for me is where war, jackal economics or espionage is used. That's clearly wrong, and I think a lot of poor countries would be doing a lot better without these interventions, although I don't think they'd be rich and developed.
Well, the West actually is anti-neocolonialist too. Globalists want smart cities, AI economy, UBI, CBDC. They want rural white Americans to be the same level of poor as rural Africans, and for the gains of exploiting natural resources to be concentrated among a global elite, which although unfair, is not exclusive to borders. The geopolitical unfairness of neocolonialism will be addressed by Globalism. And its elite will be very small compared to the global proletariat they intend to have.
This is all very ironic since the globalist machine is playing the Euro-chauvinism card to appeal to Euro elites, and also the American exceptionalism card to appeal to American nationalists. They're playing whatever cards they have, like Russia.
So this is all I know: the West is lying to some of its lesser elites by paying lip service to their values. Russia is playing its old USSR geopolitics card while also playing a trad Orthodox card, while also playing an anti-globalist card.
I KNOW that the West is globalist, the leadership that is. So NATO must lose, because the globalists will certainly win if NATO wins. However, I fear the other side might also be globalists and the whole conflict is an anti-white, anti-Western charade meant to displace the old Euro elites and American nationalists.
That's the irony. Globalists control the West, but have to constantly deal with these older elite factions, so they could be using the war as a purge in a way.
It's hard to explain why the globalist-American leadership needed this conflict so bad. Probably it's all a shitshow gone wrong. This is where my explanation of how conspiracies function comes into play.
Neocons thought the would reinvigorate interest in the military but it hasn't. Like a new patriotism and interest in military power and funding.
Ukrainian Jews might have thought they could purge the Slavs and make a second Jewish homeland but that's probably off the table due to the failed counter offensive.
Russia's hopes of exercising their historical and cultural hegemony to settle the conflict have failed, when Ukrainian deep state operatives assured them they were still on the same old team.
Stupid nationalists who are somehow blind to the globalists and think the American economy is "doing great" probably thought this could be a knockout blow to Russia's meddling in certain geostrategic resource deals that affected American hegemony over Europe. This is a legacy of the British "can't let Europe become a world power" prerogative. The kind of dumb monkey legacy deep state geopolitical prerogatives that these idiots cling to while ignoring the other players around them.
So there are members of the British and American diplomatic-military-intelligence communities who are seemingly oblivious to what globalism is, or the imminent collapse of the Anglo-American financial hegemony. They actually believe the financial journalism. They are playing out a specific strategy from their class or clique or culture's history which is about keeping Europe down. So they are acting from that vantage and are acting as a conspiracy.
There are Euro elites acting from the vantage of actual vestigial colonialist attitudes where they actually think that Europe of all places is a bastion of Western values. While this class is completely morally degenerate, what they really mean is there is a class of elites in Europe that actually thinks the whole world outside of white Europe are actually just dumb monkeys. Not metaphorical. They are committed to all this, as a conspiracy that exercises influence as a conspiracy, because of this idiotic, low-information attitude.
Then there's the globalists who have all kinds of plans, and have even got Russia and China and India to adopt some of their financial technologies in preparation for their Great Reset. And this is done because of their massive influence over global business. As a conspiracy. And yet, while massively influential, they don't outright control Russia or China and their plants are constantly falling short. I'd say the globalists are trying to act as a conventional "illuminati" style conspiracy.
But the point is what I said in the beginning. Even these powerful, highly competent cliques have huge blind spots and huge power gaps because humans are in fact highly incompetent in large numbers.
I get a clique trying very hard to influence things and just falling short of being able to do it, but what boggles my mind is that a lot of these conspiracies who KNOW they are conspiracies who KNOW the world is a stage for the common sheep and KNOW the basic nature of deep state and intelligence games that are played. Even these people will not see past their own biases or egos, and fail to see lies in front of their own faces.
Because conspiracy is natural to humans. We do it naturally, so we engage in illicit collusion and cliquishness, but we don't necessarily see or realize where it's happening outside of our brain's 150 person social perception. Which to me is the oddest thing.

2024.05.29 05:07 ALStark69 Why was I given so many drugs for wisdom teeth surgery?

Just got them out at 9 am today. Here’s what I have:
-mouth rinse (fair)
-amoxicillin 500 mg for 5 days
-methylprednisone pack for 6 (?) days
-hydrocodone as needed
When my sister got hers out, she didn’t get steroids. Why do I need to take all of these? Should I? Will there be any conflicting side effects or issues? I’ve already taken 2 painkillers and 1 amoxicillin

Post-Rhinoplasty Steroid Injections: Dent and Tissue Indentation Advice Needed. Desperate.
Six months ago, I underwent rhinoplasty, and post-surgery, my nose remained swollen. Impatient to reduce the swelling, I sought a steroid injection at a clinic in Toronto. However, the experience was less than ideal. Following the injection, I noticed a concerning development: a dent forming on the side of my nose, near the bridge. The dent then spread across the bridge slightly and felt almost like a fracture in the silicone of my nose, creating noticeable irregularities in the nasal contour (I had to get emergency fillers this weekend for the indent across the bridge so you can’t see that here). I find that the dent is less noticeable if there isn’t direct light shining on top of my nose, but if there is bright light you can clearly see a shadow forming which makes my nose look crooked.
Despite reaching out to the nurse with my concerns, his response was dismissive and unhelpful. He adamantly denied any association between the injection and the resulting dents, leaving me frustrated and without answers. Eventually, I decided to take matters into my own hands and did some research online.
I discovered that dents like mine can sometimes occur with steroid injections, and there’s a possibility that they may heal over time. However, the waiting game is incredibly stressful, and I’m desperate for some guidance and support. I’m wondering if anyone else in the community has experienced similar complications following a steroid injection post-rhinoplasty? Have you found any effective treatments or interventions? Will my nose go back to normal at some point ? I know I was stupid and it was my fault for rushing into this and I will be speaking to my surgeon about it. I just want to get insights before hand. I would truly appreciate any advice or shared experiences you can provide. Thank you for taking the time to read and please be kind.

2024.05.29 04:55 A_Username_4_u Taking Rantinidine making SFN worse

Has anyone else taken this medication and had an increase in symptoms? My SFN started due to vaccination so I’m being treated for MCAS and now the med is making my SFN worse.
The only things that usually make it worse, med wise, is vaccination or alcohol. Other meds usually result it negative side effects relating to my brain and psychiatric health.
I feel like I’m lit up like the 4th of July right now. My stomach is a mess and my bowels are so angry.

2024.05.29 04:55 AdventurousAd3010 Need advice navigating this befuttlement...

Been married for 13 years. Our marriage has been tumultuous from the beginning but I was a lot younger (25) and now that I am older, I just find myself not wanting to put up with a bunch of BS. I am to the point in my life that I want things simple (cause and effect type simple), truthful, and straight (no wasted time on manipulation/emotional gymnastics). I tend to err on the side of logic. Anyhow...there is no love or respect in our relationship. My husband complains that I show him no love and adoration. He says I don't treat him with respect. But he has spent years trying to mind f me during every argument. Like, making me justify why I am mad it him, type stuff. It used to work on me, but as i said, I got older. I'm almost 40 now and i don't have the energy to keep on dealing with the constant manipulation. So here is a classic example. I get mad because he forgets (for the 10k time) to do a chore that I asked him to do (the fact that I had to ask him to do chores after 13 years of marriage is another subject in and of itself), then he says" you're already on me and I worked on your car yesterday. I get no appreciation or respect from you." Let's be clear, when he does do something for me, I thank him to show my appreciation. I guess me thanking him is not showing enough appreciation. I feel like he is trying to get a pass on doing bad things because he did that one good thing a day, week, or month ago. Pretty sure that is manipulative. I don't think he should get a pass because I thanked him for what he did right when he did it. Doing that one thing right doesn't mean he can screw up on other things, because that one good thing has nothing to do with what he dropped the ball on. He also lies about what I do and say. For example, I found out he had a password on his phone. So I took his phone and said you don't get to have a password I don't know about since 1) we are married, and 2) I pay for the phone ( he is "self employeed" and works sporadically and I have a stable career). I told him he could have his phone back when he gave me the password. He then chased me back to my room, tackled me to the bed (knocking pictures off the wall during the process) and ripped my phone that I do not have a password on out of my pocket. He knows ALL of my passwords and has made a big deal about me having password on my phone all together, even when I give him the code. He proceeded to refuse to give me my phone back until I gave him his phone back. He still refused to tell me the password. So I had to give him his phone back in order to get mine back. Remember, I pay for both and previous standards have been that we both have no unknown/unnecessary passwords. He said he has a password because I have deleted recordings of our arguments off his phone...and of corse he starts the recording after he gets me good and pissed. I asked him why he records conversations and he says it is so he can show everyone just how awful I am to him. While we were arguing about the phones that night he had his phone on record and he said that I "ran up to him, punched him in the face, stole his phone, and ran off" when he knows it's total BS. Is he just that manipulative or should I be worried that he is legitimately delusional? What do you all think?
