2024.05.15 19:48 regex-is-fun Uploading Media in an application

So I'm working on a project currently, one of the features is that a user can create a post and that post can have a media attach(image or video).
I currently have a Post Service and Media Service that I'm currently designing(Both Lambda Functions). This is all using AWS services, I have an s3 bucket for the media themselves, and a separate DB for the metadata.
My problem is that I can't find any resources for best practice for creating something like this. Should the media be uploaded with the post then the post service calls the media services and it handles upload, s3 URL, and meta data, or should the client upload the media directly to the s3 bucket and that upload calls the media service, which handles getting metadata, processing/compression, and adding the s3url to the post DB?
Any help, suggestions, or personal experience in something like this would be amazing. Thank you

2024.05.15 19:46 Ivokay Natural gas BBQ hook up to existing NG line - who to call for installation?

Honestly, finding information about this is not as easy as it seems and I'm a relatively new, (very) naïve homeowner so I'm reaching out...
My backyard already has a natural gas line hook up for a barbeque. Partner and I just bought and assembled a new NG barbeque, but I can't for the life of me figure out how or who I am supposed to call to connect the BBQ to this existing line.
From what I've read so far, Enbridge does not do this service and suggests contacting an HVAC professional (okay but who??). I've reached out to one company for more info/quote (Gas Man Ottawa) and didn't hear anything. Looking on their website it seems the services offered are more so about putting in/fitting a new gas line (unless this is considered "installing a new appliance"?) I've read elsewhere plumbers won't do it... Do Home Depot/Hardware/Rona etc offer these types of services? Can anyone recommend a pro for me to call? Can we just do it ourselves? Since it's dealing with gas, I don't want to try first without checking.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.15 19:43 tkt546 Loan servicer owes us money, but we're getting the run around from them

We had a mortgage with Flagstar for a while. Back in 2021 we refinanced with them and our original loan had a $2k refund. Our new loan has since been sold to a new company. I don't know if it got lost in the mail, or lost in the pile of communication from them, but it was never cashed. We received a letter 2 months ago stating that the money would go to the state unclaimed property, or we could request the check to be reissued.
I filled out their form and mailed it back. I called to confirm that they received it and a new check would be issued. Once again, we never got the check.
I've since called back 8-10 times and every time I get a different story from them. First person said they would remail the check. Second person said we needed to fill out a new form before they could mail it. Third person said we didn't need to fill out the form, they would reissue the check. Still no check.
At one point I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was transferred to a different person who assured me everything was in order and a new check would issues shortly and they would follow up personally. When I call back requesting for that supervisor, one of the other agents let it slip that the person I talked to wasn't a supervisor and that she was just a different agent.
Now they're saying they have to go through an escalation process because their claiming I need to contact our new loan servicer because they aren't responsible for the check that they already issued twice.
I just checked my mail today and had a letter regarding stop payment on the second check which was dated 2 weeks after they said they originally sent it. It had the second check's issue date and number, but the supervisor needed me to send a picture of it because she couldn't find any record of it.
So to my question - I feel like I'm getting the run around at this point and they don't plan on sending me my money. Is there any advice on how to get my money back?
Edit: Not sure if this is the best place for this type of post, but when I search for Flagstar, most posts were in this subreddit.

2024.05.15 19:40 Dangerous_Arm5498 Heavy data user switching from Visible

Hello folks (^∀^●)ノシ I'm currently with Visible $25/mo unlimited 4G LTE. I have a Samsung Galaxy A11. I use about 75 GB of data monthly. I work from home and also stream videos, music, etc. I use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop and Kindle. I work using my devices and need to upload voice recordings, attend Zoom meetings and make VOIP calls.
I moved to rural Texas and have a house with metal roof near train tracks. I've been here a year and service is not that great. I have to put my cell on a shelf by a window 6 feet above the floor to get reception. At that spot the best signal strength it reads at -106 dBm 35 asu. My speed test today 5/15/2023 is download Mbps 5.16, upload Mbps 0.95.
Today I started to look into a cellphone booster and want to know if it is compatible with Visible service. I was told by Reddit Visible Customer Care, "Visible only allows member to activate phones, cell phone booster is not eligible to be use."
I'll need to use a cellphone booster with the new service. I also want to keep the cost low as possible, I know asking for the impossible.
I'm bleeding money since when service is down or super slow I cannot work. This situation needs to turn around asap. Any suggestions on service provider is greatly appreciated.

2024.05.15 19:38 Yurii_S_Kh How the Patriarch of Constantinople stayed in the Ukrainian city forever

How the Patriarch of Constantinople stayed in the Ukrainian city forever
https://preview.redd.it/lk2ho373lm0d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e074d37d49c570a0a4ff14cdc363e98b2b4da7cb
In the same year a city was born and a man died. The city became a million-people city, the center of spiritual, student, scientific, cultural, industrial life. The man became a saint. And his relics rest in the cathedral - Annunciation Cathedral of this city. By the way, his intronization as Patriarch also took place on the Feast of the Annunciation. Are these coincidences coincidental?
When it seems that the world is not simple, life is complicated, and troubles avalanche down on man and the Church, all our paths should lead to the Patriarch of Constantinople... to Kharkov. Yes, yes, that's right. It was Kharkov that was born in 1654. And in the same year 1654 St. Athanasius, for whom the good of the Church and the truth of God were always indivisible and above all human calculations, went to God.
He knows firsthand what it is like to be the Primate of the Church and what storms there are up there. And now he sees the insignificance of these storms from a completely different height. He knows how hard it is to bear them on earth. And he knows that they are powerless against the silence of Eternity. That is why he helps those who find it hard to walk under the winds of life and strengthens them in the confidence that there is a sense in walking.
And there is also hope, even confidence that what was said in the ear of St. Athanasius in Kharkov will be heard in heaven.
Muslim turban or papal tiara?
17th century. Constantinople - under Turkish rule since its fall in 1453, when Sultan Mehmed II conquered the city after a long siege, plundered it, killed the last Byzantine Emperor Constantine, and many temples turned into mosques. Initially the Sultan showed a desire to build peaceful relations and cooperate with the conquered nations. He understood that the creation of a strong state requires that the enslaved Christians reconciled to their new position. In particular, he ordered that a new Primate of the Church of Constantinople be elected to replace the missing Patriarch Joseph.
Fall of Constantinople
Gennady II Scholarius became the new Patriarch, known for being in public service before becoming a monk, was part of the circle of people close to the emperor, and in this capacity participated in the work of the Ferraro-Florentine Council in 1438, wishing to reconcile the Orthodox and Latins. But when he saw that his efforts were not fruitful, and that the Catholics insisted on the complete subordination of the Orthodox Church to Rome, he did not sign the act of Union, and on his return fought against Union together with Mark of Ephesus. “Better a turban than a papal tiara,” that's how Patriarch Gennady saw the situation and believed that the Orthodox preservation of their spiritual tradition under Muslim rule was in less danger than under the patronage of the Latins.
Sultan Mehmed II was quite satisfied with this candidate, and he expressed his favor to the new Patriarch. After that the highest letter ("firman") and decree ("beret") were issued, defining the position of the Orthodox Church in the Ottoman Empire. When persecution intensified, the Orthodox turned to these documents, which partly moderated the fervor of the persecutors, but over time the situation worsened considerably.
If after the conquest of Constantinople clergymen were initially exempt from paying taxes, later they were obliged to pay a range of taxes. The patriarch at first received from the sultan a monetary reward, but later was imposed on two taxes at once: on assumption of office and annual "haraj". Having forbidden to turn temples into mosques, Mehmed II then himself transferred for the needs of Muslims no less than twelve churches in the capital. The same fate befell the famous Sophia of Constantinople, and the imperial library actually perished.
Similarly, the ban on the forced conversion of Christians to Islam was no longer in force. There was a terrible “tax of blood”: every five years from Christian families took away children up to seven years old, who were brought up in Islam and turned into Janissaries - the most cruel enemies of Orthodoxy and their people. The law existed until 1637.
In general, at the beginning of the XVII century, the situation of the Orthodox under Turkish rule can be characterized as extremely difficult. The Turks tried by all means to reduce the number of Christians, strictly controlled any movement, fined for open confession of faith, robbed and killed the Christians. Nevertheless, they are not at all disdainful of charging huge fees for the installation of patriarchs. Since the time of the Union of Ferrara-Florence, Catholics have been luring the Orthodox under papal authority; attempts to befriend Protestants offer no protection, only compromise.
Power, state protection and material support are with the arriving Catholics and Protestants from their kings. Poverty, persecution, insecurity - for the Greek Orthodox in their own land. The era of martyrdom of some and apostasy of others, when choosing monasticism, dedicating one's life to the service of Christ is an undoubted feat. And for a descendant of a royal family, brilliantly educated, fluent in Ancient Greek, Latin, Arabic and Italian, an amazingly handsome young man named Alexios from the Cretan city of Rethymna, such a decision was an incomprehensible act of courage.
In the whirlwinds of power intrigues Alexios Patellarius, the future Patriarch of Tsargrad (or Constantinople), was born in 1597. Soon after the death of his father, Gregory Patellarius, an outstanding scholar, philosopher and publicist, he takes monastic tonsure in one of the Solun (Thessaloniki) monasteries. Later he leaves there for Mount Athos to the monastery of Esphigmenos, where he served in the refectory. After his return to Solun he was ordained to presbyter.
The young monk loved the study of the Holy Scriptures and intelligent work. He succeeded so well in this that he soon became known as a profound interpreter of the Scriptures and a wonderful preacher, hymnographer, and author of spiritual hymns. To him belongs the translation of the Psalms from the Hebrew into New Greek.
In 1626 monk Athanasius was summoned to Constantinople and sent to preach to the Vlachs and Moldavians. For them he translated the Psalter into the modern vernacular. His enlightening and ascetic work was noticed and appreciated. In addition, Athanasius was patronized by his fellow countryman, Patriarch Cyril (Lukaris), who was attracted by the spiritual gifts and diligent missionary labors of the gifted young man, and he appointed Athanasius as a preacher at the patriarchal cathedra. In 1631 Hieromonk Athanasius was consecrated to bishop, and then elevated to the dignity of Metropolitan of Solun.
St. Athanasius III, patriarch of Constantinople and wonderworker of Lubny
The reward became a cross. When Vladyka saw that the metropolis entrusted to him was more devastated than others by the Turks, that there was no order in church administration, and that confusion of minds reigned everywhere, he wanted to retreat. But how to retreat, having been called by the Lord? “There is no going back; willy-nilly I must fulfill what I have undertaken. The Lord said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). He who is called to marriage should not be sad, and he who puts his hand to the plow should not look back,” the young Metropolitan wrote in his diary.
Patriarch Cyril (Lukaris) was in great friendship with Protestants, which allowed the Catholics to accuse him before the Sultan of treason. The intrigues of the Papists led to Cyril's exile and imprisonment. Athanasius was elected the new patriarch. The enthronement took place on March 25, 1634 on the feast of the Annunciation. For his installation had to pay the Sultan a considerable sum. Although it was arranged so that in the rank of Patriarch Athanasius could petition the Sultan for the return of Cyril, the consequences were very sad.

2024.05.15 19:38 TylzSomeone Used Tesla Delivery is a Joke

Ordered my MY on the 7th of this month. Said it would take a week to be delivered. Schedule to pick it up today, they call hours before my appointment to tell me it is now delayed for 10 days. They can't sell me the car in Virginia, even though that is where the Tesla representative told me to have it delivered to, because the car will be registered in Maryland. How is it that no Tesla rep was able to figure this out until the day of. I offered to do the paperwork in Maryland and then drive to Virginia to get the car, nope, just have to wait 10 additional days due to Tesla's mistake.
I'm sure I am not the only one with this issue, but wow does Tesla have a problem with meeting deadlines. Terrible that they can get away with stuff like this too. Terrible service and we just keep buying them anyway.

2024.05.15 19:38 No-Development820 Hunting a Child Predator Who Assaulted in Boulder County

A few years ago, one of our children was lured into a sex trafficking circle. I worked tirelessly with the Longmont PD posing as our child to bring the 9 felonies Andrew Sebastien Rosa is charged with. When police were ready to make an arrest, Rosa went on the run and is facing natiowide extradition. Our family was approached last year by the producers of "In Pursuit with John Walsh" and asked if we would be willing to film an episode. It was our child's decision every step of the way, each "yes" to this had to come from them. We sat down with Calahan Walsh last January to film an episode anonymously, and it was released today, 5/15. It streams on most services. If it's too much to watch, I understand, but I am asking that this interview and the context be shared as widely as possible, because this POS is believed to still be alive and receiving assistance. The episode is called "In the Dead of Winter", and we are the second case. Link to the original news stories below.

2024.05.15 19:38 CelestialSiphon Airtel Wi-Fi Down

Hey guys! My Airtel Xtreme Fiber wifi connection is down since yesterday morning, it's not restored yet. I am having this issue in Barrackpore. I have raised the issue in their app, called them and texted them on twitter but to no avail. They're just sending this text every 3 hours- "Service Update- We're still working to resolve the technical issues. You can expect your Airtel Xtreme Fiber services to resume by 15/05/2024 9:48 PM. We thank you for your patience." The wifi is still not working. They've not provided any engineer's number who is going to attend this issue. The Airtel Thanks App just shows "resolution in progress" for the complaint raised. Is anyone here is also facing the same issue with Airtel? Or anyone have faced this issue recently? If your issue got resolved please tell me how long it took for them to restore the services? Did you do anything apart from what I had mentioned in this post regarding lodging the complaint?

2024.05.15 19:37 Sparky_Zell Is 140,000 miles on a 2018 too high to service at your local dealership?

So I bought a used truck a couple of months ago. And am ready for my first oil change. I also noticed that it has a slight hesitation, and am figuring it needs a tune up.
Well normally I would just take care of it in my driveway, but with going with an 3rd party warranty, my business partner wants full service records for everything which I understand 100%.
Since I never use mechanics for this type of work, I figured that I would go to the Chevy dealership. Get this work and diagnostic done. And have them give it a once over from an actual Chevy garage.
Well after calling around, and talking to 3 different dealerships in my area none of them would touch my truck.
Are dealerships only working on trucks within their warranty or what?

2024.05.15 19:36 InsideEnough7166 Seeking Legal Advice for Business Startup Service Refund

Hello everyone,
I hired a business startup company to help with the formation of my company. This company charges the highest price on the market (60,000 AED). Similar services are available for a fraction of the cost. I chose them because the owner is an old acquaintance from my hometown, and at that time, I had an investor, so it wasn't my personal money.
However, my investor backed out during the negotiations. I asked my acquaintance if we could postpone the startup by about a year due to financial constraints. He insisted that this was not possible because he had already paid for some initial steps out of his own pocket. Instead of 60,000 AED, he asked for an initial deposit of 26,000 AED, which we paid.
What we didn't know was that the only service he had paid for was the reservation of our company name, which cost less than 800 AED.
Due to personal circumstances, I am now completely broke and considering leaving the UAE. I called him and asked if we could get the 26,000 AED back, minus the costs incurred so far. He refused, saying he had already hired another agency for this service and that I had paid for his time. When I asked for a breakdown of the expenses, he told me it was none of my business.
Additionally, we have a payment receipt but never received a signed contract or offer from him. He sent us an offer, which we signed and sent back, but he never signed or returned it. Therefore, this document exists only with our signature, which makes the agreement legally non-binding, correct?
Can I legally demand a refund if he has not provided any significant service? Is it legal for him to keep the money given my situation where I cannot afford to continue or utilize his services?
Thanks for your help.

2024.05.15 19:25 Arcturus_86 Has anyone used veterinary telehealth services?

Wondering if anyone has provided services using telehealth services and what the experience was like? It's hard to fit patients into schedules and I'm wondering if this could be an effective way to see more patients, especially for simple issues? I see there's a platform called Vetster, not sure if its effective or what it costs, or if anyone suggests some other platform? Thanks!

2024.05.15 19:25 greentea45 Tech support doesn't understand "Next Gen Speeds"

New xfinity customer, in a new construction area that should have next gen speeds. At least when I try to order service I can see "X2" advertised at 2000/200. I selected the 300/100 plan. I have my own equipment (ubiquiti cable internet)
Unfortunately, I only get 300/20. I tried to call technical support multiple times however: 1) They don't understand what Next Gen speeds are.
2) Every time I ask them to check if my area is enabled for next gen speeds they ask me to run a speed test and conclude that my plan is fine because its "300" and working as advertised
3) Every time I say I should be getting 100Mbps up they think I am saying that I want to downgrade to the 100mbps DOWN plan.
How do I get someone who knows what I'm talking about and can check if the modem is provisioned correctly??? Xfinity customer support is super frustrating and I feel like I've spent more than 4 hours on the phone with some random call centers where no one understands what I'm talking about!

2024.05.15 19:24 Significant_Win192 ALJ Hearing

I had my 1st hearing today since I been trying to get my ssdi since may of 2022. I am 100% total and permanently disabled on the VA side. When I last worked, I had a long list of restrictions spanning from 2020-2022 when my neurologist stated I’m no longer able to do physical or sedentary work. Some of my restrictions include working nights only no more than 24 hours a week, no fluorescent or bright lights, no heavy lifting, no loud noises and strong smells due to the severity of my migraines. With that being said, how can someone say I can be a hospital cleaner or food service worker? Keep in mind, I have worked security since 2007 till I was pulled from my job in 2022. Prior to that was military. My other medical issues are cervical strain with degenerative arthritis, degenerative disc disease, migraines and cervical Radiculopathy. No I didn’t have a lawyer because in NC, I can’t get one without the upfront fee that I don’t have at this moment. If they deny my case, what are the next steps after this? I’m a 40yo F. TIA for any advice u may have.
