I passed my G2 on first attempt(Toronto-Port Credit)
Hello Everyone, I had my drive test at 8 am today. Examiner was 4 mins early and very calm. Gave me instructions on speed limit, to stay calm. I only did 3 point turn and front parking( behind drive test centre). Test barely lasted for 6 mins.

2024.05.14 06:41 aspirant555 Help with Helmet & Lock!

Hello Everyone, I recently bought Segway Max G2, it’s my first escooter. I have been trying to read many past posts about which helmet to get. After reading many posts i understood it’s better to be safe and buy full face, i bought the wrist guard, knee and elbow pads and i’m currently wearing cycle helmet. I go 15mph max.
I am looking for something light, I live in Toronto and summer might get a bit hot as well.
  1. Do you have any recommendations please? My budget is between 100-150 atp unfortunately.
  2. Which lock should i get for this scooter? Please recommend a good lock as well , not too expensive though.
I would really appreciate your help.

2024.05.14 00:45 TheApocalypse94 Failed Lindsay G Test - G1 expiring, what are the next steps?

Hey everyone, Been a long day, I have foreign experience so I was able to book G directly after G1. Took a lot of practice lessons, and after spending all that money today I failed my G Test as according to my examiner, the only thing I didn't do was turn my head far enough to check blind spots rest was all ok :/ (Guess next time have to exaggerate turning my head more)
Anyway, my G1 is set to expire Dec 09, 2024 - I know I can only give G2 first so for now, I booked it earliest at Toronto Metro East at 8 AM, June 6, 2024: 1, If I pass G2, can I give G directly after or have to wait? 2, If I have to wait for G, my license expires Dec 9, 2024 - Do I have to then give G2 again or can I get it extended?
TLDR; Gave G straight after G1, failed, if I pass next G2 (Jun 6, 2024) can I go for G asap, as license expires soon (Dec 9, 2024) if not, then what to do?

2024.05.08 17:58 Expensive-Let9544 Is it a good idea to go on a 5-hour drive roadtrip (where I drive) with 3 months of driving experience?

Context: I'm planning to drive from Toronto to Montreal and then back. I have a G2 and am experienced with driving on the highway.
What are the things that could go wrong?

I would like to ask everyone, because I will move to Toronto soon, if I already have a class 7 (less than 2 years), I will have to take the G1 test again when I go to Toronto. Do I have to directly change to G2? Thank you

2024.05.04 03:21 ApprehensiveScale212 I have a BC class 5 license and will be living in Toronto for more than 3 months. I was just offered a G2 from drive test because of lack of experience. Can I finance a car in Toronto with Bc license and also get a insurance on it

If not is there a way to not get a g license for the time being and still be able to finance and drive. TBH don't want to lose class 5(if failed) plus want to finance a car ASAP for personal reasons.

2024.05.02 13:42 kargoeszoom Passed my G test in Guelph!

Hi everyone!
I'm new to this subreddit, but I wanted to make a quick post since some past posts here helped me prepare for my G test. I recently took my G test in Guelph on Thursday, April 25th, and I passed!
I actually got my G1 and G2 when I was 16, but I never got my G. Then I moved to Toronto for uni, so I didn't drive and just took the subway everywhere. It wasn't until I realized that my G2 was expiring soon (I'm turning 21) that I decided to get my G.
I took my G2 in Guelph about 4 years ago, and it was pretty easy from what I remember. I took one driving lesson for my G, just to brush up on certain things the examiner looks for during the test. I practiced in Guelph twice (I live in Kitchener), once was on the day of the test. When I did my G2, I used the driving school's car, but this time around, I just used my parents' car and it was fine.
I booked my test for 3:40 pm, and I kind of regretted it because when I got to Guelph around 3 pm, there was lots of traffic. Thankfully, when I started my test, the traffic calmed down a bit. My test was on time, whereas when I did my G2 four years ago, I had to wait in my car for over an hour for the examiner.
The examiner was a pretty nice, chill guy. The route we took was the same as this video I watched, and the only difference was we took a slightly different route back to the DriveTest Centre at the end.
Honestly, I thought I failed because right when I pulled out of the DriveTest Centre, I stopped at a red light while turning right onto Woodlawn, and I was about to go, but then I realized that the traffic in the other direction started moving, so I stopped again suddenly over the line 😭 My speed and lane changes on Highway 6 were also all over the place because of the traffic.
But tbh, my examiner seemed pretty chill and uninterested almost, and the only thing he corrected me on was that I forgot to check my blindspot when merging off of the highway. There wasn't any parking involved at all, just front parking when we got back to the DriveTest Centre.
If you have any questions, let me know!

2024.05.01 01:12 Puzzleheaded-Bad5111 Converting non-chip license from India to a chip license in Toronto from CGI Toronto

Hello all,
I have a non chip license from India (year 2005) valid till july 2025.
I got my G2 license in ontario after converting my class 5 license from SK (considering only 4 months driving history in Canada).
Now, while applying for G license i submitted by DL extract of my old license from India to add driving experience to my G2 so that i can book a road test. I have more than 18 years of driving experience.
I was advised by drive test to go to CGI Toronto to get my new DL from India so that they can add experience to my G2.
How do i go about it ? As I’m not able to find any appointments with CGI for these services.
Kindly help.

2024.04.29 19:47 pandora72592 Need some recommendations on car models for insurance

Does anyone have any recommendations on car models and year of the model for car insurance in Toronto?. I’m a new class G2 driver, me and my mom are trying to find a new/older model car that would have cheap car insurance. Insurance is sooo high nowadays.

2024.04.28 16:23 No_Ganache5865 Looking for Advice on continuing to practice driving

Since I got my G2 in early February, I haven't been able to drive to continue to practice, and rack up some driver experience. This is because I live in downtown Toronto and don't have a vehicle. I'd love some advice on how people in a similar situation were able to continue to drive on a somewhat regular basis for the reasons mentioned above. Before I know it, a year will pass and I'll be eligible to take my G road test, so I want to get lots of driving experience in so I'm ready for that time. btw, I've already signed up for Communoauto, but with my work schedule I feel like right now I can only practice on the weekends, which means all the cars in my area are already booked up. If anyone has any advice on how someone with no car in DT Toronto can keep on practicing driving, it would be appreciated!

2024.04.26 02:37 JulieWithcamera G2 and driving in Ontario

I passed my g2 in December and have been mainly driving around downtown Toronto since then. I have not practiced on any highways yet. Not sure if this is the right place to post but I figured most people here would understand - what's driving on highway 7 like? I have to get to Markham so I think I'll be headed to Hwy 7 and then 16th Ave. Anxious about it 🫠🫠😭

2024.04.25 16:24 Dimdumidk Help with G1/G2/G

So I guess I screwed up. This is a throwaway account I’m using for dumb questions and to get info on the dumb things I did.
I moved to Toronto and Canada. Or maybe Canada and Toronto (whatever order) during the period we shall not speaketh in 2020 from India. Yeah I know.
So I did not have the access in my home city to get the extract and international drivers permit and other stuff since all the offices were closed for these stuff. I got on the plane and landed as a student.
On Nov 2023 I went back home for the first time (now on open work permit) and went to the ministry of transportation back home, got my extract, international driving permit and duplicate drivers license.
I drove back home for over 12 years before I came to Canada.
Now I want to go get my driving license in Canada armed with all the documents I need. Problem? I have an Ontario photo card. Because I needed a Canadian identify proof thingy and I got one (LONG STORY). And I put down I don’t have a driving license to get it because I did not have my Indian driving license with me at the time and the fellow Asian guy at the ServiceOntario wink nudged me to do that. Not his fault. It’s mine entirely for being dumb. I got this in Fall 2022.
Am I screwed? Do I need to go through G1 and the road test? Or, can I potentially go through to G2 after writing the G1 knowledge test. Am I so dumb I screwed up?
Thanks for reading.
TLDR: drove back home for 12+ years. Came to Canada. Took Ontario photo card. Applying for driving license now, 4 years after I arrived in Canada.

2024.04.24 05:03 Theticallation Canadian LE considerations, Please Advise!

Hi again! I made a post here outlining my LE journey a bit back and would like to update you, ask some questions, and receive some advice. I'm a first-year criminology student at a pretty good university (80% average). I have 150 volunteer hours and would like to double this before graduating. I have just started working for the Canadian Armed Forces Naval Reserve, and I worked as an intern at Toronto Police prior to that. I have no criminal record and no history of drugs.
My current goal is to work for Toronto Police as an officer. I've also been looking at other greater Toronto Area Police Forces, the Vancouver Police Service, and the RCMP as options. For anybody currently working in any of those services or has applied to them, how competitive are they exactly? How can I make myself stand out as an applicant? Also, how does big-city policing compare to working for the RCMP?
My next question delves more into university academics. How valuable is my overall GPA for Canadian Police Forces? I would definitely like to finish with my current average of 80%, but I feel like I might dip to 75% overall or, worst case, 70%. How will this reflect on me in the hiring process? Can this be made up for in additional volunteer hours or customer service experience?
Just for additional information: I have a G2 drivers license currently, looking to get my G soon I'm certified in CPR (will recertify when needed) Certified in STOP THE BLEED Certified in the 50-course package ontario police prep offers And to top it off, I have a valid PAL and RPAL (Probably not important at all)
