In terms of technology, doctrine, weapons, techniques, training, organization, ect. what does a typical army in your world look like? Or even just a particularly interesting region. Think the Condottieri-focused mercenary warfare circa the Renaissance in Italy, or artillery-focused infantry forces after the Napoleonic Wars, or the relatively small armies of heavy cavalry supported by levy troops of the Middle Ages - most regions and times in history show trends in dominant military theory.
In the world of The Tollua Academy, despite a rather high world population overall (over half a billion in a pre-gunpowder setting,) an army of 10,000 is considered quite large. This is due to the way that magic works - it's not just spells and rituals, magic also enhances your body and mind. Strength in numbers simply does not exist if those numbers aren't individually strong enough - sure, everyone has magic, but most people can't afford an education that lets them fill out their potential. Meanwhile, even a mediocre student of a middling tutor will be able to face dozens of common men at once with ease. That's to say nothing of facing the student of a Magic Academy - they can lay waste to entire companies of common men with single spells.
That army of 10,000 is probably divided 1:20 between volunteer Academy Student elite troops of aristocrats and high-wealth merchants and the more common tutor-trained bourgeois militia from propertied merchant families who just weren't wealthy enough to send children to an academy. So about 500 Academy-trained mages to 9,500 common troops.
Combat is also highly individualistic - mages encompass all kinds of fighting styles and spell preferences, so while there are certainly ways they can work together, most magic battles turn into small, semi-connected and fluid skirmishes between groups of skilled and compatible mages. Mages tend to wield melee weapons of all kinds, though arming swords and longswords are a favorite for their versatility, and because metal is generally highly conductive for magic and swords are mostly metal.

Hear me out.
This game is amazing. I am still mid game, but I have all these awesome stratagems. I love rsilgunning a heavy. Don’t get me wrong.
Buuuuuuuuuuuut, I would love if there were options for ramping difficulty without introducing heavy units. My favorite times playing this game are still when I put it on medium or easy and only bring my starter equipment. It feels so fun to just gun down hordes of scavenger bugs.
So, I know it’s basically impossible, but I would really enjoy the ability to just crank up the spawn rate, health, or attack damage of the early enemies. Or, it would be cool to just increase the difficulty of the objectives themselves.

Unboxing

The Waizowl Cloud arrives in a beautifully designed package, offering a premium experience right from the start. The box features a side ribbon that, when pulled, opens the drawer to reveal the CLOUD neatly wrapped in a plastic bag. Upon removing the cloud and protective foam, you'll find a flat cardboard box containing the accessories. Inside this box, you'll discover the 1k Dongle, a USB C-A Adapter, a white paracord-style USB-C cable, an extra set of larger skates, red grip tips that are really nice I might add, and the user manual.
Additionally, I also purchased the 4k Dongle separately, which also arrived in an elegant white box. Upon opening it, you're greeted by the 4k Dongle, another extra paracord-style USB-C cable, and the user manuals. Overall, both products provide a very satisfying and premium unboxing experience.

Weight & Balance

The Cloud weighs in at 57 grams on my scale. I must say, I find the weight distribution of the Cloud to be spot-on, it feels perfectly balanced, with no noticeable leaning towards the front or rear when held from the middle. While a lighter version of the Cloud would have been appreciated, I'm impressed by how it doesn't feel heavy in hand, thanks to its well-balanced weight.

Shape

The Waizowl Cloud has a larger, ambidextrous design, which honestly made me a bit sceptical at first as somebody who prefers smaller mice. But when I actually held it, I was really surprised by how precise and comfortable the shape felt. It's got this narrower waist that makes it feel more compact in hand, almost like holding a pencil between your thumb and index finger. And when you click, giving you this nice pinch feeling that feels just right because of how low the click height is, which is something I really appreciate.
This low click height kind of flows through the whole shape, giving it this elegant slant from front to back. Even though it's a flat mouse, the slight hump towards the mid feels like it’s more mid-back focused than mid, and that really helps with getting a solid grip, especially when you're trying to nail those precise shots. It does lean towards a claw grip a bit, but I think it could work well with different grip styles, especially for people with larger hands.
Overall, I really liked the shape of the Cloud. It's comfortable, it feels great in hand, and I don't have any complaints about it. It's definitely a mouse that's well-designed and delivers a satisfying experience.

Coating

The Cloud features a rubberized coating that, to be honest, is the best I've felt so far. I really appreciate how it maintains its grip even when my hands get sweaty it's impressive. However, I do want to mention that the coating does attract smudges and fingerprints quite easily, so it's a good idea to wipe it down regularly. This seems to be a common thing among rubberized-coated mice, though.
In terms of performance, the coating is excellent. Despite the fingerprint issue, I haven't felt the need to use the included grip tapes anytime soon. Speaking of which, the grip tapes are really nice, they have a cool design on them and offer a super grippy, textured feel.

Build Quality

The build quality of the Cloud is top-notch, rivaling major brands and, in my opinion, surpassing many of them. With mice like the Cloud available, I find it hard to justify spending $150 on a mouse anymore. The quality of the Cloud is simply great there are no creaks, side flex, or any signs of cheapness. It feels really well-made, giving a premium quality that leaves me with zero complaints in this department.

Clicks

The Cloud features Huano Blue Shell Pink dot switches, which have become a staple in many gaming mice and happen to be some of my favorite switches. Their implementation in the Cloud is flawless, providing a satisfyingly crisp and tactile clicking experience. While there is a bit of pre and post-travel when clicking towards the front of the mouse, it's not significant enough to affect gameplay, and the clicks have minimal to no side-to-side play, making them feel incredibly solid.
One thing worth noting is that the clicks extend into the mouse, creating a slight lip on the front. If your grip style tends to be more towards the front end of the clicks, this might be something to consider, as it could affect your comfort during extended gaming sessions.
Overall, they offer a great tactile feel and responsiveness, making them a joy to use during gaming sessions and regular use.

The side buttons on the Cloud are positioned perfectly in my opinion, offering a really nice feeling with minimal pre and post-travel. However, there is a bit more post-travel on the rear side button, and it can slightly be pushed into the shell, although this isn't something I noticed until I specifically checked for it. Overall, they provide a really nice clicky and tactile experience that just adds to the overall premium feeling of the Cloud.

Scroll wheel

The scroll wheel on the Cloud feels really nice and soft, with slightly defined steps. While I would have preferred the steps to be a tad bit more defined, it's not something to complain about. The scroll still feels great overall, and the scroll click is amazing, with the perfect amount of tensioning and being super spamable. Overall, It's definitely a great scroll wheel and I have no complaints.

Bottom

On the bottom of the Cloud, there are two buttons: one for PR (Polling Rate) / Mode and the other for DPI / Power. Here's how they work:
PR / Mode: A short press switches Polling Rate Profiles, and a long press or holding it for 3 seconds allows you to switch between Bluetooth and 2.4GHz modes.
DPI / Power: A short press switches DPI Profiles, and a long press or holding it for 3 seconds switches the Cloud on and off.
I really appreciate functional buttons like these on mice, and the Cloud is so packed full of features that I barely needed to install the software.

Skates

The Cloud comes with two sets of skates: the smaller styled ones for a faster glide and another set of larger styled skates for more controlled experience. In terms of performance, I've only tested the smaller skates, and there's nothing to complain about. There is a bit of a break-in period, and they do open up a bit more, but they lean slightly towards the slower side overall. They're almost on par with Lamzu stock skates, just a tad bit slower and offering more control overall.

Software

The software of the Cloud is quite similar to typical OEM Chinese mouse software, but it has an added touch of Waizowl flair. Overall, the software is good, it's loaded with plenty of features and is super easy to use and navigate. Whether you're setting DPI or configuring macros, everything is laid out in a straightforward and user-friendly manner.

Battery Life

The battery life on the Cloud is pretty average and there's nothing to complain about. On the 4k setting, I would get roughly between 3 and 4 days of use, and on the 2k polling, about 5-6 days. That was more than enough for my needs, and the Cloud charges quite fast, so the battery life is nothing to worry about.
I haven't tested the 1k polling battery life, but based on how long the 2k setting lasts, I would estimate that you would get about 8-10 days of solid use on 1k.

4k Performance

The 4k performance on the Cloud is solid, with nothing to complain about. I never experienced any stutters, disconnects, or disruptions, and the pairing process is super easy. You simply press the M1, M2, and M3 buttons together and plug in the 4k dongle, and you're paired—super easy, hassle-free, and great performance to top it all off.

Personal Performance

The Cloud really surprised me with how well I performed in-game. I was skeptical about the larger size, as I usually prefer smaller mice, but the Cloud just nailed it for me. The narrower waist gives you pencil-like accuracy and makes it not feel as large in hand as you’d expect. It’s honestly really comfortable. The hump is positioned perfectly, being more center-rear focused, giving you enough in-hand maneuverability for micro adjustments. Although it is a bit large in the rear, I had to bump up my sensitivity a bit for more precise adjustments. Although the larger rear flare provides the support you need when pulling the Cloud back in hand for that locked-in feeling. Overall, I performed great in every scenario or game and felt confident in my aim while using the Cloud. I really enjoyed my time with it.
I must mention that due to the size of the Cloud, it does force me into an aggressive claw grip for my best performance, with my grip more to the rear of the mouse and clicking higher up on the M1 and M2, leaving a lot of room in the front. However, I can see a larger variety of grip styles working for it if you have hands larger than 18.5x10cm. And although I have a claw grip a smaller version would be great to take advantage of the lower click height, I can see a mini version of the Cloud shape being an endgame mouse, honestly.

Conclusion

Overall, I really enjoyed the Cloud and can see it being an endgame mouse. Honestly, it’s really hard to review products this good. I have almost zero complaints about the Cloud. The build quality is excellent, some of the best I have felt. The clicks, scroll wheel, and stock skates all feel great. The shape is legendary and feels great in hand, super comfortable for longer gaming sessions while still giving you the accuracy you desire.
The only thing I would do to improve the Cloud is to make a mini version so all hand sizes can experience this greatness. I can solidly recommend the Cloud to anyone with a claw grip and medium-sized hands or to those with larger hands using a variety of grips. Honestly, the Cloud is just that good and one of the top mice on the market currently.

How bad is it?
Results came in Tues, I still haven't heard from my doctors office. I have been complaining about severe fatigue for at least 3 years. Lately I'm falling asleep during work. I've occasionally had heart palpitations but thought it was from caffeine so I quit it. Brittle nails that curve under. Freezing all the time. Hair loss I thought was due to PCOS. Gained 20 lbs rapidly with no changes in diet or exercise, which I assumed was age related (50).
My vitamin D is historically low so I've been taking 4000 IU daily for 2 years and it's now within normal range but never gets higher than 40. But now it appears I have anemia, pre diabetes and thyroid issues? The doctor noted in my chart "take a multivitamin with iron and watch your diet. It's probably your heavy periods." I already take them daily, plus cook with cast iron almost exclusively. My periods only last 3 days and only 1 days is ever heavy. Been that way for 11 years and was never anemic. The anemia is the most concerning. My family has history of chronic and severe anemia but I've never had it til now. How concerned should I be? I don't think my doctor is that concerned. Should I get a second opinion?

Heads up! There is an issue with all gamepad presets (except for “Modifier Button Equipping”) which causes players to equip weapons when pressing the “Interact and Equip Weapon” button, which is not intended. I just had an inspection done on my -07 Mazda 6, and it turned out I have excessive play on the left side lower ball joint. I’ve been searching everywhere for a replacement but it’s proving impossible to find. Every part store is suggesting I need to replace the whole lower control arm, which comes already equipped with the ball joint and bushings. What am I missing, why is this lower ball joint not replaceable?

2024.05.16 20:11 Rainbowsole Cornwall G - you tell me if this is normal behaviour..

So here was my experience taking my G in Cornwall. I heard from multiple people that I would be lucky to get 1 of 3 women because the 1 guy is a bit of an asshole.. So to my dismay.. I see a guy walk up to my car looking quite angry and throwing his hands into the air.
I rolled down my window and the first thing he tells me is that he was searching around the parking lot for my car and almost gave up and went inside. I let him know that I mentioned to one of the employees that the numbers stating which parking spot you are in are so faded I couldn't tell what my number was. The man inside kindly assured me that they are aware of this and not to worry, the examiner would find me.
Upon entering the car after the initial inspection, he immidiately started complaining about the heat. He was sweating and I couldn't relate. I had 2 layers and a heavy sweater and felt the temperature was fine.. But I immediately nodded, apologized nicely and made sure the heat was adjusted.
The entire test he had the window down with his head sticking out of it whenever he got a chance. This guy was sweating bullets. I kept thinking.. Is he sick or like.. Wtf is going on here.
Then his real personality began to shine. The way he talked to me could only be described as someone trying to punish a 2 year old by VERY slowly and sarcastically spelling out every syllable of a word. " NOWWWW yOuUUu TuUurn LeEefTaaah"
Anyway, other than his sarcastic mood swings.. Everything seemed to go well. I made one mistake turning into the middle lane on a left turn because there was a bunch of construction on the original lane and I probably made the wrong call - fair.
One thing I knew from practice and reading up on the test was that you need to check your mirrors in a very obvious way, and to do that every 10 seconds. So I would count my tapping my hands on the steering wheel, making sure I'm always checking regularly.
We finish the test and he proceeds to raise his voice at me. " You obviously didn't practice! you lied! you didn't prepare! you don't know how to drive! etc". I'm thinking to myself, holy shit. I actually thought I passed. Why is this man raising his voice at me. What is going on. (I am not a fighter, I tend to get quiet when people yell at me) So - I calmly looked at him and said, " I practiced and prepared the best I could" To which he got more angry and yelled again " OH YEAH, HOW DID YOU DO THAT GIRL. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU"
I told him my bf and brother have been testing my, I actually paid a retired examiner to take me out and test me, and I read the rules.. He then told me. " yeah RIGHT. You know why you failed?? because you didn't check your mirrors - barely at all! ".
This surprised me. I thought I failed because I went into the wrong lane once, but the mirrors? That's the one thing I was so obvious about I felt like I was being over the top every ten seconds. Every time I turn, every merge.
So, I said exactly this: " ohhh! I'm so sorry, I really thought I did" (in a very calm but sad way) I was blaming myself in that moment and trying to understand how that could be the case. He then OUT OF NOWHERE raised his voice again and said " YOU ARE NOT BEING COMPLIANT - I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING MORE" Im like.. I'm sorry.. What?! "You lost your chance. YOU'RE NOT BEING COMPLIANT. RULES STATE I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU WHY YOU FAILED, LOOK IT UP YOURSELF."
He then gets out of my car, slams the door, and walks off.
OK sir, who hurt you? Because this is the most UNHINGED experience I've had in a minute.
Needless to say. Won't be booking my test in cornwall again. Maybe I deserved to fail, maybe I didn't. I'll never know because this guy was literally a crazy pants who can't take 17 degree weather and acts like he's coming down off some kind of substance.

2024.05.16 20:07 Lu_Tai_Lei I felt like my lungs were stopping. Was struggling to breathe.

Medications: Daily: Descovy for PrEP, 5000 IU Vitamin D3, 50mg zinc, 10mg Zyrtec (generic)
Last night I smoked a bowl, same weed I've been smoking for weeks. Same amount of weed I do every night. Started eating dinner after smoking. After about 10 mins, my hands and head and feet were going tingly and numb. It definitely didn't feel like weed, and I let my SO know I was feeling weird. He had me lay down in bed.
My hands went completely numb, still tingly. Couldn't move my fingers at all. My abs and chest started getting super tight. It started feeling like my chest was super heavy. I was struggling to breathe, gasping for air as I had my SO call 911.
I'm literally gasping and fighting so hard for every breath for about 10 mins while my entire body is numb, and I'm in a cold sweat. About 1 minute before EMS got here, I felt like I could start breathing again. EMS got my vitals and stuff and my heart rate was 150 and basically stayed elevated for 10+ mins so they recommended hospital.
So I took an ambulance to the ER. Got IV fluids. By the time the doctors started seeing me, my heartrate was still in the 130s. They did an EKG, CT, blood work, and an xray.
Was there from 8:30 to midnight and they couldn't figure out really what caused it, but they said for sure it wasn't a PE or DVT. The ER doctor thinks maybe it was a vasovagal spasm or pre-syncope.
Still don't know if it was just an insane anxiety attack? Or if I really do have an underlying issue. When I was discharged from the hospital I still had over 100 heart rate.
During those 10 minutes where I was fighting to breathe, I thought I was either gunna die, or my SO was going to have to start doing cpr on me because it was getting so hard to gasp for every breath.
It definitely felt like I was going to stop breathing, but I know the brain is powerful and a part of me still thinks it could have been random anxiety attack? The only thing that was out of the ordinary compared to any other day, is that my SO was using heavy duty wood-stripper on our deck about an hour before I smoked on the deck. The label says that if you can't smell any fumes there shouldn't be any, but another part of me thinks that maybe that had some sort of impact? Seems far-fetched but I just don't have much else to go off of.
I've never had anything like this happen before and I am otherwise healthy, no asthma, or previous heart or lung problems. I'm going start making regular PCP appointments, but I wanted to see if someone else here had any thoughts. Thank you.

Enhancement in The Final Shape

During the Lightfall year, players have gotten a taste of weapon enhancement with the raid Adept weapons from Root of Nightmares and Crota's End. In The Final Shape, you'll see that this system has undergone some upgrades, making enhancing your weapons easier and allowing us to comfortably expand this system to include more weapons. Here’s a quick recap on how weapon enhancement will work alongside some of the changes:
  • Weapon enhancement allows the weapon to be upgraded to receive enhanced traits, a weapon level, and a memento socket. To upgrade your weapon, players can navigate to the inspection screen and insert the enhancement tier mod for standard currencies (raid Adept weapons will continue to use Spoils of Conquest).

  • Enhancement Tier 1:
    • Replaces your Masterwork and provides the weapon with an enhanced intrinsic that matches the stat of your old Masterwork.
    • Provides a weapon level, a date when you first enhanced the weapon, and a memento socket.
    • Raid Adepts only: Since these weapons have a base-crafted version, we want the Adept versions to feel like a meaningful upgrade. Therefore, these weapons can visit the Relic on Mars to adjust their first two columns (typically barrels/magazines) in a similar fashion to how crafted weapons can augment these perk columns.
  • Enhancement Tier 2 (weapon level 11 requirement):
    • Once the player inserts this mod, the left column trait(s) will automatically be upgraded to their enhanced perks. If you have multiple perks, this will update all traits in the column. Players will not need to visit the Relic on Mars to update these traits anymore.
  • Enhancement Tier 3 (weapon level 17 requirement):
    • Once the player applies this mod, the right column weapon trait perks will automatically be updated to be enhanced. Like the left column, this will upgrade all of the traits present and does not require visiting the Relic.

We've heard the feedback that weapons should have more avenues to acquire enhanced traits. In The Final Shape, all new weapons will either be craftable or have access to weapon enhancement. In addition, weapons that remain active drops in the following activities will be eligible for enhancement:
  • Vow of the Disciple raid Adepts
  • Guardian Games
  • King's Fall raid Adepts
  • Gambit
  • Competitive Crucible (all of them)
  • Trials of Osiris
  • Crucible
  • Iron Banner
  • Vanguard Ops
  • Nightfalls
  • Prophecy Dungeon
This will include older instances of these weapons, as long as they have an origin trait. Unfortunately, due to some technical constraints, there are a handful of weapons instances from before Season 17 that have origin traits and are active drops, but they will not be eligible for weapon enhancement. If a weapon is not actively dropping in these activities and playlists or it’s under the legacy focusing options, it will not be enhance-able when The Final Shape releases. If weapons are reissued and become a part of a playlist's active drops once again, we'll update older versions that have origin traits to enter weapon enhancement.

Mementos in The Final Shape

We've received a lot of feedback on weapon mementos, especially as new mementos have released in our seasonal events. In The Final Shape, we have a few changes coming that impact how you store mementos and apply them to your weapons.
  • Crafted and enhanced weapons will no longer need to visit the Relic on Mars to apply mementos. Players can apply the memento of their choosing directly in the weapon inspection screen.
  • Memento stack cap limits will be raised from 1 to 3.
  • Mementos will no longer be stored alongside the player's consumables. When The Final Shape launches, your mementos under consumables will show as faded. Then, once the faded memento is dismantled, you'll see +1 memento added in the weapon inspection screen as a virtual currency. For players who figured out how to get around the original memento stack size limits, this will allow you to dismantle all those mementos safely, even if you temporarily go over the intended stack limit of three. If you are holding three (or more) of a particular memento, it will not drop again until you spend your mementos to be under the stack size limit of three.

Reduced Fragment Costs at Ikora In The Final Shape

Subclass Fragments purchasable from Ikora are expensive, particularly considering how many there are, especially for New Lights. In The Final Shape, we have reduced the cost of Fragments from 25000 Glimmer to 10000 Glimmer. Our goal here is to make these vital build-crafting elements more accessible for new and returning players.

The Pantheon Grows Stronger

Another week, and your task has become more difficult, Guardians. Rhulk, Disciple of the Witness, has joined The Pantheon, and we’ve gathered intel for your mission.

  • Rhulk was born on the planet Lubrae, a world originally blessed by the Traveler that spiraled into an authoritarian regime when the Traveler left. Fueled by rage, Rhulk sought to destroy the regime, but his bloodlust led to being ostracized from his clan. Eventually, afraid of what he’d become, his clan attempted to kill him.
  • Decrypted records from the Pyramid indicate that the Witness made contact with Rhulk during this time, restored him, and empowered him as the first Disciple. Rhulk took his vengeance on Lubrae, annihilating its parent star and destroying the planet.
  • Vanguard power assessments place Rhulk far above any previous enemy faced by any Guardian. Battle scholars theorize the bold fireteam that stormed the sunken Pyramid only prevailed due to Rhulk’s humoring a fight to begin with. But prevail they did.
OF NOTE
  • Hidden cipher-sequences buried in the symbols throughout have been decrypted by a pioneering Cryptarch, thanks to countless fireteams keeping the way clear. The solved sequence is believed to be astronomical coordinates to Lubrae. (Probe dispatched… awaiting arrival.)
  • The creation of the Hive was majorly influenced by Rhulk. The first Disciple of the Witness subjugated the Worm mother, Xita, and forced her spawn into union with the Krill, which led to the Hive species and the Hive Gods themselves.
  • Cryptarchs have uncovered communications between Rhulk and Savathûn in which Savathûn derides Rhulk’s simplicity as a tactician. According to the Witch Queen, the first Disciple only values strength, and his downfall will be his brute force approach to every situation.

Zero Hour Exotic Mission Is Live

The Zero Hour Exotic mission is now live. If you haven’t jumped in yet, you can find it in the Into the Light node in the Director. Completing the mission in the required timeframe will earn you the Outbreak Perfected Exotic Pulse Rifle.

DESTINY CONTENT VAULT UPDATES

With the start of Year 7 of Destiny 2, on June 4 certain items will be deprecated from player inventories that correspond with vaulted activities and seasonal campaigns. They will then be moved into the Destiny Content Vault.
We have updated the Destiny Content Vault article to reflect these changes and created a new article fully outlining Items Being Deprecated at the Start of Year 7 for players to reference.

PARENTAL CONTROLS

Parents, guardians, and other responsible adults are now able to adjust their child’s Destiny 2 settings.
To set up parental controls, both the child and their adult need a Bungie.net account, and we will need to verify that the person providing consent and setting controls is an adult. We have created a Parental Controls Help article with details explaining how to create an account and instructions on linking it to your child's.
We have also updated our privacy policy. Please visit Bungie.net to create or manage your account and set your preferences today.

KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
  • Capturing a zone in the Collision PvP game mode while having full super energy will slightly reduce Super energy.
  • Tormentors can push turrets away in Onslaught with their slam or grab attacks.
  • The Zero Deaths Triumph only unlocks when completing Zero Hour on the Legend difficulty, which should unlock on both Normal and Legend difficulties.

2024.05.16 20:01 CamaroKidBB M903 SLAP rebalance for PF

The recent balance changes have done M903 SLAP dirty af… I’m here to fix it based on more realistic stats, and also to make it a little more different from both default ammo and .416 Barrett.
For those unaware of the real deal, M903 SLAP is a sub-caliber sabot round designed for the .50 BMG cartridge to penetrate even deeper than what the original and past AP variants could do. This includes going about 3/2x the velocity (with a claim of up to 4,000 feet per second), being constructed of tungsten carbide, and being 3/5ths the diameter of the original round, meaning less aerodynamic drag as well as less surface area needed to be dove through. In fact, these traits would have made the SLAP rounds almost infallible for sniping… if they were match grade (they weren’t), and if the rifles proper had different twist rates (they had the same as is ideal for a regular .50 BMG, which M903 SLAP isn’t).
Believe it or not, the Mk211 Raufoss round (yes, that Mk211 Raufoss round) works on a very similar principle, only instead of a sub-caliber penetrator being seated in a sabot being launched directly from the rifle, the penetrator is launched directly from the bullet, which is why the Mk211 is an explosive round. Contains the penetrative power of the SLAP rounds before it, minus the quirks of being a sub-caliber round, both positive and negative.
The range bonus from the rebalance is kept, but if members of the community object or otherwise find the range increase unbalanced, I’ll remove it.
1.2x velocity (OG: 1.05x (OG OG: 1.25x))
(This would buff the BFG and Hecate’s velocities to 3,600 stud/s (4,320 stud/s w/ Heavy Barrel), and the M107’s to 3,360 stud/s. This isn’t as strong a muzzle velocity as before, nor will the penetration be, but this is to balance around the torso kill potential this’ll still have. Not only this, but for once, M903 SLAP will actually have a superior muzzle velocity to .416 Barrett, which is actually realistic.)
Forced 1.1x torso multiplier (OG: 1.05x (OG OG: forced 1.0x))
(This would make M903 SLAP have a similar niche to pre-rebalance .416 Barrett, by having a better velocity, but a limited 1-hit torso kill range as a tradeoff.) BFG 50: 265.3 stud 1-hit torso kill range

When I'm working on a hero I go to duels so I can find what works for them in a one v one situation. Teamfights are super easy. For every single hero in a teamfight your objective is to not feed revenge, be as obnoxious as possible to the enemy, and throw orange attacks from external to get free damage, roughly speaking of course. So I never really bother training for team fights because that's not something I feel I need to improve on. But I do need to improve in those moments where I'm caught out, no teammates, no extra enemy's to feed me revenge, just a 1v1 somewhere on a dominion map. So I go to duels to practice for this kind of thing. Sometimes however, I get into a duel and I litterally can't touch the guy. Throw a light it gets blocked, worse deflected, worst parried. Throw a neutral bash, it gets dodged. Start getting complicated throwing neutral heavy feints into light attacks. That still gets parried FML. Try to go defensive so I can start up my moveset off of a parry or dodge attack, no dice they aren't willing to do anything that is in any way risky. At this point I just put down the controller. The weird part, they usually get mad that I give up, but from my point of view they were reacting to everything I had in my tool kit so there's no point in even trying to have fun playing against them. They usually also go afk and sit there until I engage with them again. If that's the case I throw out of lock heavies until I'm dead. What do you guys do about people like this? How do you improve against someone who can parry neutral lights on reaction, who can dodge every move you have, who has a counter for every mix up you can think of. Like this is pre CCU levels of obnoxious, how is it still possible that I run into enough of these people that it warrants complaining about?

When I was in HS I worked for a small landscaping company. This incident happened when I was 16yo and one that I’ll never forget.
I was mowing one of the 50 something yards we serviced every week. I was using a commercial standing lawnmower.
I have ear plugs in thinking about life just chugging along on this yard. The next door neighbor ends up waving me down on the opposite side of the fence. I head on over shut down the lawn mower and walk over to see what he wanted (this wasn’t out of the normal. Most people who stop us ask for a business card or an estimate for their lawn etc). As soon as I take out my ear plugs this boomer goes in on me.
“You’re way too young to be using heavy equipment like that. You don’t know what you’re doing and blowing grass everywhere. I’ve been watching you for the past few mows and this time you blew grass onto my deck like a f****** idiot. I should call the police. You guys are too young and too inexperienced to be mowing. I’m gonna talk to my neighbor about firing you.”
He just kept going and going. I had never been spoken to like that before and was in shock. I kinda just let him finish and then was like. “Sir, I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t even see any grass on your deck” trying not to cry honestly
He ultimately gets more upset and starts throwing more insults at me to get my a** onto his side of the fence and take a look. Threatening to call the police and even saying he will “take matters” into his own hands if it happens again.
I’m really not trying to cry at this point. Scared to walk over there, but I do. I end up seeing 3 blades of grass on his deck that the wind had carried over.
I say I’m sorry and that the deck was so far away from the property line I didn’t know it was hitting it. Next time I’ll mow a few strips directed the other way to avoid issue. Also said I would blow his deck off when I finished mowing.
Of course this did not appease this man. Just kept hurling insults and that I needed to blow it off now. Not in 10 min. Now.
I end up going to get the blower from the truck which was weird to my boss who was 1 year older than me. He comes over thinking there was a problem with the mower. I tell him what is happening, grab the blower, and go to blow the grass.
My boss is pissed and goes to talk to the man. Saying if he has a problem he can take it up with him and not threaten his employee. Boomer says he will call the police. Boss tells him to do it. What are you gonna tell them “two high schoolers trying to make money for college got 3 blades of grass on my deck and blew it off when I asked”.
At this point I’m trying not to laugh. The boomer just stood on his side of the fence and scowled at us while we finished the yard and left.
He never bothered us again after that day, but every time we would mow that lawn I had major anxiety…

How many hours of ground school did you do with your CFI leading up to PPL?
I don't want to be that student who shows up only wanting to fly and never do theoretical study but I also don't want to pay for CFI hours for something I could accomplish on my own, just trying to find a baseline.
I have seen wildly different assertions, from "0, just do sporty's on your own, get your written done before you show up" to really high seeming numbers. (I'm through the majority of the Sporty's course, studying PHAK/AFM/AIM etc as well, planning to schedule soon)
I am at ~4 and a 1/2 hours right now. I understand there is preflight inspection, going over the lesson on the ground, and then postflight debrief with CFI, and eventually I will go over any potential missed questions from the written exam and prepare for the oral exam with the CFI as well. My school is both part 61/141 and even for part 61 (what I'm doing) has stage checks including an oral stage check prior to solo which to me seems like good practice.
Outside of that, should I expect any significant amount of ground school? I see a lot of people talk about "ground school" only in reference to the written test.
The receptionist/administrator at my school really tried to sell me on doing ground school with them specifically for the test when I first enrolled, which I had to firmly say no to a few times. My CFI recently recommended we get a couple ground sessions in on days where we have weather cancellations, and specifically referenced FAR 61.105 and 61.107. It seems to me .105 is just the written test which I can do on my own while .107 has been referenced in this sub before as the FAA being stricter about seeing specific logged ground school time with CFI and merely a Sporty's endorsement not being adequate for a checkride.
Anyways, how many ground sessions did you do, and at what point in your training(pre-solo, post-solo, leading up to checkride)?

Hi all,
I finished my M.A. in English (focused in editing and print publishing) this past December. My first job search was for positions relative to my degree—copyediting, proofreading, some technical writing—but after a few months of rejections I started expanding my search.
My B.A. was focused on creative writing and I completed a copywriting internship during my master’s, so I started applying to copywriting and social media management positions with a portfolio of my work (blogs, posts, how-to guides, etc.). Still nothing.
Eventually, while still working at the coffee shop gig I’d kept throughout college to help pay bills, I landed a corporate gig with the same coffee company I’d worked for at store level.
The job I have now involves working with new store owners, guiding them through the pre-opening process over the course of anywhere from 4-52+ weeks as their store is being constructed. This involves some project management skills, as they are the ones who have to complete the tasks assigned to them, and my role is mostly about keeping them informed and on-track to open.
My position also involves condensing large amounts of information and knowing where to go/who to contact if I don’t know the answer. I need to have a strong understanding of how stores operate, how marketing works, how construction works, and how all of our equipment works. This means going to regular meetings so I have an up-to-date understanding of everything.
Recently, my team manager asked if I’d be interested in handling a project (most people on my team have their own individual projects). This particular project would involve editing the company’s store operation manual.
Their vision for the manual is that the final version resembles a textbook that could be given to store owners, so they can learn how their store should operate from construction to fully-functioning business. I will likely have to schedule meetings with people to assist me where my own knowledge of store operations wanes.
To me, this sounds a lot like good experience for a technical writing role—i.e., going to meetings, managing various people/projects, meeting with SMEs, and editing/compiling loose information. I’m also hopeful that if I do well on this, it could lead to similar work being assigned to me.
My thought process is that by combining the experience of my role and the potential experience of editing the company’s operation manual from the ground up, I could eventually move into a technical writing role somewhere else.
I think there could be internal potential as well, if the company decides they would benefit from having a TW on staff. They’re still a fairly young brand, and I’ve seen where other members of my division have branched off into higher-level roles built for their talents.
Now . . . Does this all sound reasonable?

So I've posted a lot of times on this subreddit, and a part of that is because I haven't fully fleshed out the details of my world; I had a basic idea of what I wanted my world to look like, the types of magic I wanted to be there, and the world in which I wanted that magic to occur. I'm someone who likes grinding down on my magic system until it makes sense, so I haven't really been able to focus on writing my actual story, although in fairness I've tied up a few plot threads. Now, I think I have a genuine final product and can actually start writing my story. So here it goes.
FUNDAMENTALS
The three fundamental forces in my universe are Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice. Dream is the product of the underworld, Sacrifice resides in the domain of the living, and Spark is the energy that binds and separates the two worlds. I'm very fascinated by the idea of making a sacrifice, or the spilling of blood in many cases, being necessary for dreams to come true.
Dream, in this context, is imagination, memory, past, future, desire, fear, all that does not yet exist but existed or has the potential to exist. The fuel of Dream is memory, because a dream that is not remembered, even subconsciously, is one that ceases to exist, and Dream tends to absorb memory.
Sacrifice, in this context, has a more neutral meaning than we're used to; it only means a change in the mortal realm, mental or physical, that initiates the coming to life of a dream. Think of a mother, who sacrifices or is made to sacrifice her body for 9 months to give birth to the dream of a child, the possibility made real by the change in the mother's physical circumstance. Or an empire; someone dreamed of it, but they needed to spill blood to bring it into fruition. The blood and death, not the action, is the sacrifice, and that sacrifice brings life to a dream.
Spark, broadly, is energy. From a metaphysical perspective, it is the energy that carries out a sacrifice and, using that sacrifice, brings Dream into existence. Two people needed to perform the action of intercourse for the mother who gives birth to a child to have made a sacrifice; the act of intercourse induces the sacrifice, which is the state of pregnancy. To go back to the empire example, you need to perform the act of stabbing or shooting a bunch of people, or if you're not into all out war, the act of slitting the throat of the king, for instance. The act induces the sacrifice, which is death, which enables the dream to come true. But more broadly, spark is literally energy, the force that makes the planet move, the sword to swing, the fire to burn.
The child of Dream and Spark is Will. Will is consciousness, the ability to make something happen, to manipulate energy to accomplish a purpose, to make the dream come true.
The combination of all three, Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice, is what creates life, a physical manifestation of the Will; this is what makes life special above all other things. When in your physical body, the Will is bound by that body because the body created by Dream, Spark, and Sacrifice creates a barrier that the Will cannot cross, which is why almost no one can manipulate energy on their own. Once you die, you either cross into the Underworld, the land of dreams, or a Sacrifice in the form of emotional connection interacts with the Will to block it from returning to the Underworld, binding you to the Mortal Realm, making you a ghost, a will that exists in the Mortal Realm but without a physical body usually cannot perceive the world except for other Wills, trapping spirits stuck in the Mortal Realm in their own memories unless they can use the body of another as a host.
The exception to the binding of the Will to the body is through Dream; when you dream, your Spark transfers your will to the Underworld, where all dreams live. Spark has a natural magnetism towards the Underworld, and the Will has a natural attraction to Spark, meaning when you're asleep, Spark is no longer bound by consciousness and is able to take the Will to its natural home before waking. As I said before, dreams are fueled by memory, so when you dream, the Underworld is slowly taking memories from you until you wake up, meaning that most people forget most of what they dream about.
The Mortal and Immortal Realms are separated by a substance in the air known as Valin Steel, which has the effect of cancelling out any binding effect of a sacrifice, detaching Spark energy from the physical form it is bound to, causing it to by default return to the Immortal realm. When Spirits are summoned from the Immortal Realm to the Mortal Realm, that creates a disturbance which causes Valin Steel particles to form into visible chunks of a metallic substance stronger than normal steel. Valin Steel is particularly dangerous because of its combustibility, with only a small amount of exposure to fire being sufficient to cause explosions that can level neighborhoods if not cities with just a few pounds of material.
One other reaction is that of the Will interacting with the physical world. The Will generates Spark, and when it is not bound to a physical body but is still bound to the Mortal Realm, that Spark, when a spirit uses it to manipulate the Mortal world, sinks into and irradiates any material under it, which creates a substance called Emanation, which contains certain levels of Spark, which means it can be combined with other ingredients to induce specific magical effects when the solution makes contact with something; Emanation is thus the basis for all magical potions.
MAGIC
As I said, the Will of a living being cannot cross past or alter that body, but when a living thing dies, while most go to the Underworld, some are trapped here, without a body to bind the Will. Unbound, a spirit's Will allows them manipulate the Spark, and this forms the source of all magic in this world; the key to using magic, therefore, is developing some type of relationship or having a pre-existing relationship with a spirit. Without any sacrifice, spirits can use telekinesis, lightning generation and manipulation, and thermokinesis. Because Spark forms the basis of cognition, spirits can enter your brain and steal your thoughts and memories, share thoughts and memories by imparting them to the being they're passing through, essentially able to impart "suggestions" that, in their strongest form, can act as a form of hypnosis.
Spirits can also briefly possess creatures, but bodies are generally not equipped to handle two sparks in a single host. A spirit possessing a body would cause every part of that body to want to move, and having two sparks in one body can end up killing the host because without constant movement the extra spark ends up just absorbing oxygen from the air for stimulation. This is why when possession occurs it is usually only for brief periods, like a minute or so. The exception is if people learn certain war dances which allow them to use their whole bodies, they can be possessed, therefore possessing the power of spirits, for a much longer time; they have to keep dancing to maintain the stability, and this form of magic use has given birth to multiple martial arts styles based on encircling and constantly barraging your opponent; some of the arts are called Sand-Dancing, Water-Dancing, and Mud-Dancing, all based on using bouts of telekinesis to quickly harness easy to manipulate materials to overwhelm opponents (the inspiration for these martial arts styles would be Capoeira; Capoeira is extremely effective and allows for constant movement).
So the biggest fuel for my magic system is the issue of perception. Most people can't remember visiting the Underworld, most people can't see beyond their bodies, most people cannot see ghosts in the Mortal Realm, and most ghosts cannot see the Mortal Realm because they don't have a physical body with which they can perceive. This creates a situation where, while anyone can use magic because most people can develop some type of connection with spirits, it is difficult in practice for most to do so.
But some people are born with, or in rare cases develop, a unique bond with dream, giving them some or all of these abilities. Really creatives, people with certain mental disorders, or people born from uniquely difficult circumstances that required sacrifice, usually on the part of the mother, that is greater emotionally or physically than what would otherwise be expected, are more connected to Dream, and are therefore more able to perceive it beyond just their physical senses. This represents around 10% of the population; a strong sign of one of these abilities is lucid dreaming, because it means you are able to navigate the Underworld while not having your memories stolen, meaning you can essentially access the dream world whenever you sleep, or if you're trained whenever you want. Seeing spirits in the mortal realm is rare; around 2% of people have the ability, and it's really useful because spirits have the ability to manipulate energy but can't perceive the world around them, meaning that you can make a deal with a spirit for them to lend you their services in exchange for lending your body to them. Another rare ability is astral projection, which comes hand in hand with the ability to perceive the Mortal Realm as a spirit because both involve the ability to perceive the world beyond your physical body. So these ghosts, unlike others, are under normal circumstances essentially autonomous because they can perceive the world around them, meaning they can interact with the world without the constraints of a physical body. These are usually the deadliest types of spirits.
In order to change the nature of something, you need a sacrifice and a spirit must provide the spark necessary to activate that sacrifice. There are three different types of sacrifices:
  1. White Sacrifices, which are made by causing mental anguish or connection. This sacrifice is necessary for two purposes; to create and bind someone to a magical oath which makes it so such an oath cannot be broken as long as the person bound to the oath remains bound, or to create a magical bond between two or more beings, allowing those bonded with each other to communicate telepathically, to perceive events through each other’s eyes, to share memories, and when one dies, to share a living body.
  2. Red Sacrifices, which are made simply by spilling blood. This sacrifice is necessary to transform the physical form of one thing into another form. For instance, to transform an inanimate object into another inanimate object, one must coat that object with their own blood, and have a spirit activate that blood sacrifice by using their spark. Typically, Red Sacrifices involve shedding one’s own blood to change their physical form; when Red Sacrifices are activated, their form changes. When transforming into a form larger than themselves, the spell will cause a person to absorb the soft matter (water, sand, dust, mud, etc.) around them to gain mass, and when transforming into a form smaller than themselves, they shed mass in the form of “Formsand”, which they can then use to transform into their original form. This sacrifice can be permanently imbued as an ability to change into a specific form and back using tattoos made from emanation; the process of tattooing spills the blood necessary for a blood sacrifice, and the specific ingredients, the placement of the ink, and the Will of the tattooer and the tattooed determine the specific form they turn into. Descendants of those who shape shift inherit some of the characteristics of the altered forms of their parents.
    1. Some animals have also evolved ways of using Red Sacrifices to give themselves enhancements, such as the ability to breathe fire.
  3. Black sacrifices, which are made by taking a life. This sacrifice is necessary to bind spirits of the dead to a physical form. The target spirit can perform or activate the sacrifice, but if the target spirit is one that the magic user wishes to control, another spirit has to make and activate the sacrifice. This can be used for a variety of purposes, including permanently binding spirits to a physical object and forcing it to do the bidding of the user, and permanently binding a spirit to a dead corpse, giving them new life in a new body.
Spellcasting is the act of giving spirits you are bound to instructions to perform an action. Basically, spirits recognize certain words as commandments to perform an action based on what they've learned; the more people that recognize a specific word as a specific command, the more potent that spell becomes. Spellcasting in the context of telepathic acts is often performed with songs or poetry, with certain phrases being used as a form of hypnotism as the melodic effect coincides with the spirits placing ideas in your head; this also happens to act as a sort of work-around to the requirement of possession for mind control because the spirit doesn't need to channel their energy through the whole body, just the mind, and they don't need to completely enter the person's body to influence them; this allows some magic users to cross the line from hypnotism into genuine mind control.

2024.05.16 19:05 articaf I feel like my life has hit a major dead end professionally.

Im a 30 year old, relatively healthy man. I became a firefighter at 19 after dropping out of college. I loved it. I worked full time for one agency, part time for another smaller agency and as needed for our local ambulance service. I was the youngest to be promoted to company officer status in our agency's history and lead my own shift. I was on every committee, county training group, special detail, special teams focusing on technical and water based recues. accomplishments. I received numerous awards of recognition from my departments and my fellow firemen. I ate it. I bled it.
But then I got hurt. I lost most of my hearing, and I couldn't hear or understand anything coming over our radios anymore. It was hard on scenes with all the noise too. I was a danger. So I medically retired at 28. I was told I didnt qualify for a pension because "if you can physically do any other job that would contribute to the fund, the state doesn't see you as disabled". I had a job at a company that sells fire equipment all lined up and I thought everything was good. Horrible management burned the sales guys and basically halved our pay about 6 months after I showed up. I found a job inspecting fire sprinkler systems for a multinational mega Corp and moved here. That was a year ago.
I hate it. With every fiber of my being it feels like I've stalled. And I'm not happy. But I have no degree, no experience outside of the first responder sphere, and anything I am qualified for on paper is paying shit pay. Anything thats making decent money and I know how to do, but I dont have the magical piece of paper for, they won't interview me because I'm "not qualified". Ive tried looking outside of the fire safety field, and am super passionate about the shooting sports, but the companies that work in that field all want degrees. Ive managed projects, worked with budgets, preformed HR duties, and was one of the Shift Safety Officers for my agency. Ive also been told I'm too young for management, regardless of previous acomloshments.
The last interview I had was going great, I thought, until I was told decade of experience I had accumulated at my fire department wasnt worth squat and they offered me $19/hr when the postings for the job said $60k/yr.
I can't afford to go back to school. I can't afford to open my own business with my crappy wages. I feel like I've hit a dead end.
Any advice?

Looking for a mobile mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection on a 2016 BMW 335i GT in Aurora, CO.
The private dealer doesn't have plates so I'm not able to drive the car to a mechanic and would need a mobile BMW mechanic. I don't want to go through a service like Lemon Squad or similar because I don't think I would trust their inspection, a private small business would be ideal or even just an individual willing to provide inspection for around $200-250.
Anyone have recommendations?

I am coming back to 40K after a 6 or so year absence. I started collecting AdMech and was using it in conjunction with my Imperial Guard, but 10e does not allow this anymore. Thus need help crafting a new list for my AdMech forces.
