How do I cool down tea without watering it down?

2024.06.09 09:07 Both-Promotion-3684 How do I cool down tea without watering it down?

This is probably silly cause I could probably just put it in the fridge lol but that takes too long.
once i prepare my herbal tea on the stove, my kettle insulates heat really well so the heat doesn’t really leave the pot. i wait like a half hour sometimes it’s still hot. so i want tea quicker than having to wait like a half hour
i’ve reached the point where im about to start just dumping ice cubes in the kettle after im done which i know is unreasonable/stupid and will literally just water down the tea but idk what else to do lol. like the ice is a last resort obviously
how do you guys cool your tea? do you usually brew it like an hour in advance of when ur gonna drink it? do you put it next to a fan or open window? also do you leave the tea in the kettle or pour it in a cup like what makes it cool faster
thanks so much

2024.06.08 06:06 mrhuckleberree my ocd and caffeine are sworn enemies

ive had ocd since i was but a child and caffeine has never been kind to me. it always sets me off and causes me to spiral. the only problem is i love coffee. like a lot 🥲. i was fine drinking it while on sertraline cause i didn’t feel anything lol, but about a year ago i got off them and was absolutely WHACKED in the face with anxiety and spiraling when drinking coffee without em. so i stopped drinking caffeine for a while. but i love my little hot beverage so i thought “maybe decaf” so a couple days ago i tried decaf and apparently i can’t handle decaf either. i know there’s still some caffeine in decaf but i thought that it be so minuscule in amount that it would trick my brain somehow lol (big brain move i know). my ocd just can’t handle caffeine it’s insane. my ocd hates caffeine more than kendrick hates drake. so now i have to quit again. does anyone have some good hot herbal or non caffeine drinks i should try? cuz i love me a good little beverage

2024.06.08 03:01 JarlFlammen Resuming old playthru

I enjoyed this game immensely but never finished it. I got as far as being about to sneak into the abbey, and decided I wanted to get good at Herbalism, Lockpicking, and Pickpocketing first, in case I had to rely on wits and potions and what’s available, etc Then got massively sidetracked, bored, and left it alone for a long time.
But now I wanna finish the story, so I’m back. Gotta learn how to play again before I can sneak into abbey lol

2024.06.07 15:55 InspectionJumpy3736 I passed — massive wall of text

Hello everyone, foreign grad checking in. Just found out today (6/7) that I passed the NAPLEX. This was my first attempt. Took it on 05/29 and got my 2 boxes this morning.
The exam: Biostats… whew Lord Jesus. I had a LOT of biostats. Majority of my math was calculating NNT, NNH, ARR, etc. From calculating to interpreting. Calculating Biostat is easy but the seconds add up and with close to maybe 30 questions it was truly nerve-wracking since I always double checked my math in case my finger slipped and typed the wrong number. The other maths were okay, mostly alligation, ANC, flow rate, loops conversion. I wish they gave me more anticoag dosing since I really prepared for it. I am not a math genius, and I’m pretty sure I missed a lot of math questions so I was afraid I was going to fail and cried the rest of the day and the following day after the exam. Idk what happened to me but I totally blanked out on PK questions during the exam. They came towards the end of my exam and maybe my brain was already tired to process how to solve it. They weren’t plug and chug in my case. I had to play with the formula to come up with an answer. Do know the max dose for APAP and ibuprofen, tho especially for peds. I had a couple of ID questions, too but mostly meningitis. Not so much CAP/HAP/VAP. OI as well so know your CD4 cut off and alternative tx. Onco was okay, chemoman was enough for my exam but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna be enough for yours. I had mAb questions which I was happy to get. Mostly targeted therapies and BBW. HIV mainly brand-generic, as well as pulmonary meds. I didn’t get a lot of compounding questions. No BUDs, no excipients. The other questions were spread out among the rest of the small chapters. Oh and I think I have about 5 questions just to diagnose a kidney disease. I’m not sure if those were experimental but I had no idea about those so I just guessed.
Here’s what worked for ME.
The prep: I started seriously studying first week of March. Studied 1 chapter per day after work and 5-6 chapters on the weekends. Please do NOT neglect the small chapters. The heavy hitters (anticoag, cardio, etc) are obviously very important but my goal was to not leave any stone unturned and not burn any attempts I have. My strategy was to cover every nook and cranny of the RxPrep book and if I have a hard time with a chapter then I go back to it, and not focus in 1 chapter for days or weeks and run out of time covering everything else. It worked out for me because guess how many anticoag dosing I got in my NAPLEX? One. And how many herbals and antidotes questions I got? Close to 20 in total. Not counting CF, gout, references, etc. so the points truly add up. Foundations 1 and 2 are VERY important, too. You can confidently answer a LOT of questions without even looking at the case if you know what drugs increase lab level, what to monitor, etc. Tons of SATA for Med Safety but some are pretty common sense. Some questions are tricky so use the highlighter and strikethrough feature. Someone asked if for SATA questions there can only be one answer and the answer is quite possibly yes. It’s mind-numbing but if you’re not 100% sure about something don’t take a chance.
I used RxPrep 2022 and just looked at the errata portion of the Uworld website and Qbanks. For Math I used SDN 120, ProntoPass, and the blue book on Amazon. Towards the end I just focused on RxPrep. My NAPLEX felt waaaay harder than preNaplex so take those scores lightly and even though you score really high, don’t let your guard down too much because you will never know what kind of exam you’re gonna get until you are facing the questions. It’s just a good way to familiarize yourself with how they present the questions. Heck, after taking the preNaplex I looked up PreNaplex flashcards on Quizlet and I saw some made 5 years ago that appeared on my prenaplex lol.
This was my experience and some people passed without covering every chapter so please do what you think is best for YOU. Don’t be discouraged if you failed the preNaplex because the real one might be easier. Reschedule if you think you really have to. Although, I wasn’t confident going in I thought hopefully my stats in the Qbank reflected my knowledge and just went ahead and did it somehow scared lol. Again, give it your all the last few days of the review and the day of the exam. Take as many Qbanks as you can and understand the rationale and why you got it wrong so you don’t just memorize the answers.
Thank you to everyone that answered my questions on here and the mods that have been so encouraging. I appreciate you all. I’m rooting for everyone in this group and as I have learned it is okay to feel like you failed coming out of the exam. I was sure I failed but there’s nothing impossible with God :). please feel free to hit my DM if you have any questions.

2024.06.05 16:06 Correct-Wait-516 Some Stone & Wit Reviews

I was intrigued by their fast TAT and curated catalog. I like the idea that I could affordably sample their entire catalog. And I wanted more spring/summer scents in my collection. I ordered it, and less than a week later (4 or 5 days, I think?), it was in my hands.
Drink from the Waves (Notes: crab apple, geranium, sea spray)
I mostly get geranium and sea spray with some faint crabapple. The geranium is powdery, but not heavy. And the sea spray and crabapple add some freshness to it although on me, it’s mostly powdery. I’ve never been to an ocean so I don’t know how accurate this is in terms of that, but it does smell like salty, cool air.
It also kind of smells like a lotion that my mom would have had when I was a kid. This scent feels a little old-fashioned, but not in a cloying or heavy way. I didn’t think I would like this kind of scent, but it surprised me. This doesn’t have the longevity that some of their other scents have, but with these notes, I didn’t expect it to.
Verdict: Don’t know if I’ll full-size it yet, but I can see myself wearing it during hot summer days. I might seek out more geranium scents.
Frith (Notes: blueberry, dandelion greens, sage, witch hazel, vetiver)
I don’t hate this one, but I never want to wear it. The blueberry smells artificial to me like blueberry hard candy. I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying this was too herbal for some people, but I don’t get herbal at all. It has pretty good longevity and throw though. I can smell it all day. This is probably the only one of Stone & Wit’s scents I’ve tried that I wouldn’t recommend. It doesn’t smell bad. It just doesn’t smell like it’s supposed to.
Verdict: Probably won’t wear this one. Curious to see if I change my mind on it.
Lost Temple (Notes: birch leaves, cool air, incense)
This is my most worn Stone & Wit fragrance at the time of writing this. This is woody and sweet. I get more incense on the drydown, and it’s not heavy or overwhelming. It smells fruity, kind of like apples. In the description online, it lists patchouli and smoke. I don’t really get either of those. I do get a hint of mint, which adds to the coolness and outdoorsy vibe. It reminds me of hiking by the beach near all of the birch trees.. It’s very subtle. I have to pretty much sniff my arm to be able to smell it.
Verdict: Smells like birch trees. I really like this one. Very grounding. Don’t know if I’ll full-size it yet. I wish it had more throw.
Neon Noir (Notes: pink limeade, cannabis leaf, plum, vetiver, cetalox)
It opens heavy on somewhat skunky cannabis and artificial pink limeade, which balance each other out well. To me, artificial is good because pink limeade is artificial. As it dries, the plum starts to come out more and adds a little bit of freshness to an overall musky fragrance. I think the vetiver and cetalox add a musky quality that works well with the cannabis (I don’t know much about either of these notes).
It smells like I’ve been smoking weed or at a party with a lot of weed smoke so I wouldn’t wear this to work lol. Neon Noir is a moody and dark atmospheric. It reminds me of the birthday party in the TV show Russian Doll minus cigarette smoke. This smells like coming home from clubbing. Weed, mixed drinks, sweat.
Verdict: A+ scent, but probably won’t full-size because I will only wear this at home or a night out. This scent is too cool for me lol.
Turyin (Notes: pomegranate, plum, sandalwood, gunpowder)
This opens heavy on the pomegranate and plum, but those fade quickly and it dries down to mostly sandalwood and gunpowder with some fruitiness. The gunpowder adds some smokiness. Good longevity. The fruit is very tart and acidic, but the sandalwood and gunpowder add warmth. I’m worried that I have the pickle/sandalwood curse. I can’t tell if it’s the sandalwood or the acidity of the pomegranate that’s causing the pickle smell, and I don’t smell it all of the time, but often enough, that I don’t wear it.
I was most excited for Turyin because of the gunpowder and the inspiration behind it was interesting. However, between the pickle smell and the fact that I don’t think I enjoy strong fruit scents, I just don’t love it like I thought I would.
Verdict: Unique fragrance, but not for me. I won’t full-size.
Overall Thoughts: I’ve worn Lost Temple and Drink from the Waves the most since receiving these, and both of those are full-size contenders if I finish up my samples. And Neon Noir, while I won’t wear it often, is a work of art to me. I think trying this house has taught me that I don’t love strong fruit scents. I like the softer ones, and I also like powdery scents or at least, the one that I’ve tried. I also discovered that I might have the weird pickle/sandalwood smell so I’m hesitant to try sandalwood again.
I really enjoyed trying Stone & Wit, and I’ll probably try more from this house in the future. I’m still interested in trying more from my wishlist now that I have a better idea of the house and my tastes.

2024.06.04 17:25 Spirit-Filled01 mousse or gel?

mousse or gel?
wavy/curly hair folks! i tried posting in the wavy hair subreddit but they don’t allow questions asking for advice on routines for some reason.
(pls forgive my horrible split ends 😭 definitely time for a trim lol)
i’m a newbie y’all. been treating my crazy frizzy wavy hair like straight hair for all 22 years of my life lol. & i have so many questions 😅 help!!!
1) what should i try first? mousse or gel? maybe curl cream? any specific product recs? we’re on a tight budget so i preferably want to keep my routine as cheap as possible. i was thinking of trying the LA looks extreme sport gel because i’ve seen some folks have really great results with it. but i know it’s a super strong gel so maybe i shouldn’t start out with it?
2) with ALL the info out there it’s so hard to figure out where to start, not only product-wise, but also routine-wise. can any of you wavy hair girlies recommend a super simple and quick air-drying routine that i can try (i use the word “quick” loosely haha, i know wavy/curly hair care is def more time consuming i just need my routine to be practical because i have twin toddlers and barely have time to clean 🤣 ) ? i was thinking of trying just plopping overnight in a mousse/gel cast, after letting my hair air dry for a while before bed. my hair seems to have a low porosity so it takes a while to dry.
current routine: i shampoo 2-3 times per week with equate smoothing keratin shampoo only on roots. then i use herbal essences conditioner and leave it in for about a minute or two. then i towel dry & use garnier fructisse’s sleek and shine leave-in conditioner. then i just brush my hair out and that’s it lol

2024.06.04 15:11 Lissten2YourHeart Harshing My Buzz

A few years ago I was newly moved into my apartment and got along with my neighbors. One evening I am outside in my cat partaking in some herbal relaxation, as are my neighbors in the car beside me (we can't smoke in the building but can in the parking lot or cars). So we are vibing, not blaring music or anything, when a lady who also lives in the building walks in between our cars and gawks in our windows and taps on mine. I rolled me windows down: Me : Hi Karen: yea ya are aren't ya? Me: I'm sorry is there a problem? Karen: yes please getting high around here Me: ma'am I live here and am a medical patient taking my meds. Karen: well someone has been hanging around poisoning my cat
At this point I knew she had mental health issues. And I politely told her that if that's the case to contact our landlord and maybe the police. She seems to almost snap out of a trance and apologized. Saying she hasn't been herself since quarantine (this took place in 2021/2022) I sympathized and gave her a pass. She could see we weren't trouble makers and we were minding out own business My neighbors had their windows down at this point and were baffled at the exchange. We all kind of laughed and I replied "luckily I am experienced dealing with confrontational people" lol which is the case given I had 16 years experience as a youth worker, and been confronted by erratic children and ignorant adults. Ha .
This lady may not be a full Karen as she apologized and admitted to not being in a balanced mindset but the encounter resonates as a Karen encounter. I could have went off on her for her first sparky comment and escalated it from there

2024.06.03 06:29 curioussnor95 Begging for help to narrow down my NAVA order

Long story short I have tried very little NAVA but been really keen on their quality. I’m extremely picky about florals and recently tried white lotus musk and am freaking out over how much I like it. I am planning to order decants from arae which helps in being able to try a variety but still I’d like to not buy like 40 samples lol
What I want to try specifically: florals, citrus scents, lavender, chamomile, apricot, other fruit scents (cautiously), herbal/green fresh
I enjoy what I would describe as light femme scents that wear close to the skin. Not huge on crazy sweet or high feminine scents, and can do gourmands but am less interested in summer. I used to be much more in the gender neutral atmospherics camp but have come to realize I can handle fruity and florals if they’re grounded with some other complex notes or just done really well.
Feel free to suggest others if you think I’d like them! But mainly would like help making this closer to 20-25 choices
Summer 23 Cait sidhe Dulaman, Incense lune, Zodiac virgo, Aegean blu, Aljamal, Ice cream summer apricot, Ice cream summer lavender
Summer 24 Orange and cream musk, Rose thandai kulfi, Dreams of Titania, Vanilla tea and earl grey, Sage and blackberry, The Summer tree
Spring 24 Tasnim, Zara, Edward duck, Baby duck, The promise, Celtic dream
Spring 23 Zodiac: Gemini, Chrystaline 8, Matcha, Artemis lemon pound cake, SoNAmbulest prophetic dream, Alchemist musk, Amulet
Musk haven Tuberose, Gardenia, Ceder sage and sweet grass, Lilly of the valley
Baskets garden Pink grapefruit frankensence crystalline, Magnolia crystalline, Lavender santalum, Honeysuckle crystalline, Apricot mulhalebi, Pikake moonstone

2024.06.03 01:19 seagoatstellium Rituals for the start of the month ✨

Greetings, all!
I’m a day late, but I thought to share with some practices I do to spiritually arm and fortify myself and my home for the month ahead. I aim to do some of these on the first day of the month (imo a day or two won’t hurt, but that’s me lol). Today is the first Sunday of the month, which is also a great time to grant yourself protection, nurture your energy and mental health, and do workings for abundance and prosperity.
As y’all know, many of the rituals included below should/can be done on a regular basis based on your capacity and ability. The spirits/ancestors know where you’re at and what you’re able to do, which is something I remind myself as a disabled practitioner with disabled ancestors. I do not complete this entire list at the beginning of each month; I just pick one or a few things that have the same effect based on time and my capacity. Others I incorporate more often. I just like variety and trying out different workings that appease different senses. I would love to add more ideas/practices to my grimoire, so please do share some start-of-the-month practices that are staples in your spiritual toolkit.
Some of my 1st-of-the-month rituals and some other considerations:
Wishing all of you a fruitful, easeful, and rewarding month. I hope June is kind to you, especially to my fellow members of the Black Alphabet mafia (LGBTQI+ 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨ ).
P.S. I still consider myself early in my Hoodoo practice, so I'm definitely open to feedback on this list. Accuracy and ensuring others are safely following any recommendations I give are important to me; I do my best not to spread misinformation through deep research and studying folks more advanced than me, so please do correct me if I've gotten something wrong and I will edit this post. I'm sorry if I'm repeating information here, too!

2024.06.02 01:21 onetwothree123__ Gut candida

Experiences with candida?
Hello guys!
I have a couple of questions about candida in the gut.
What symptoms did you have? And after how long did you discover you had candida?
What did you eat, what meals did you make? Did you eat regular or did you have a strict no sugar diet? I am currently sugar free, white flour free, dairy free and seems like I was better when I did consume those stuff lol
I'm just looking for experiences, I currently have it and 2 days ago I started taking Nystatin for it along with probiotics and seems like Nystatin doesn't do much. I still have diarrhea and weird bowel movements.
What therapy did you use? Some medicines, probiotics, herbal stuff? How did you cure gut candida?? Any advices?
Thank you!

2024.06.01 02:30 Few_Confection_8191 Review of Sama Nete (Ayahuasca with Celinda)

Last year (21 August to 4 October 2023) I did a retreat at “Ayahuasca with Celinda” which was recently renamed to Sama Nete. I’ve tried to cover the practical aspects in my review, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me :) (however I'll be heading off to this retreat again in a few days! So I might not be able to reply until I'm back in a month or so)
This review based on my time and my observations at this retreat. I’ve tried to keep most of this factual, however it is also just my opinion at the end of the day.
Cost:
It cost me $1750USD per month (this may be subject to change as they enhance their facilities).
Getting there:
The retreat is located in San Francisco, Peru. I flew into Pucallpa airport and the facilitator (Nathan) met me at the airport. The drive in the taxi on the “roads” was more intense than any 4WD-ing I’ve ever done, which I enjoyed a lot, but maybe some people won’t like it. I can see how it could make some people nauseated.
Your room:
Accommodation is rustic (i.e. bats, bugs, spiders, etc live in the “ceiling” which is made from leaves), but clean.
They are still in the process of furnishing rooms, so each room’s contents varied slightly. All rooms (as at October 2023) had at a minimum:
My room had the minimum, however other rooms had some additional things such as:
Hammock Shelves Cupboard Bench seat Little logs for stools
Facilities:
My understanding is that because they’re a new retreat, they’re enhancing their facilities with each guest, so this is just based on when I was there (21 August to 4 October 2023):
You are in town BUT you are in the jungle. There are spiders and bugs that will come to visit you. I went into this trip with a genuine phobia of spiders and a fairly dramatic fear of certain insects like bees, wasps, centipedes etc. My comfort levels have improved but I’m not free from fear – for example. I can now stay in the shower if a spider or scary insect comes to visit (I watch it the whole time lol but I don’t run out screaming).
Wild chickens wander the yard and they really brightened my days. However, the roosters cock-a-doodle-do all day and night which really bothered some other guests, I didn’t really mind though. What I did find a bit annoying/disruptive though was constant loud speaker announcements from the town, I think they were excessive during the time I was there because it was leading up to the celebrations for the anniversary of San Fransisco (the town). Sometimes you could smell burning rubbish (which mainly smells like burning plastic). And the other disruption was that there were a few interruptions to water being available for showers (we never ran out of drinking water), but this is not common, there was a problem with the town’s water while I was there.
The biggest issue for me was being bitten excessively by bugs. Some things that may bother other guests would be the constant noise (frequent announcements over speaker from town, lots of loud or gentle music (especially Saturday nights), dogs barking all night, roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing all night), quite a bit of light at night (I think a kitchen light is left on so people can find the toilets in the night), and of course the monotony of dieta food (but Nathan did a pretty good job at coming up with some creative variations like potato soup, boiled vs scrambled eggs, etc).
Meals:
You’re provided 3 meals a day on non-ceremony days and 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) on ceremony days
Meals consist of:
Whole small fish Unripe plantains Eggs Lentils Rice Carrots Potatoes Squash Celery and cabbage as a bit of a garnish Optional teas
Although the meals were bland and repetitive, I quite enjoyed them and the boiled medley of beetroot, carrot and celery was so delicious to me that I’ve made it since coming home lol. Personally it wasn’t until about week 4 that I got bored of the repetition but I also think that’s kind of the point, to become detached to the joy of waiting for your meal etc. TMI but I did have some constipation and Celinda had an oily concoction to remedy that which was effective for me :)
Ceremonies:
There are 3 ceremonies a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (drink once at the beginning, I’ve read about other retreats where you drink several times).
There was not a formal schedule for discussion after ceremonies, it was done ad hoc with each individual guest as needed (I mostly had ceremonies where I didn’t feel the need any interpretation). There also wasn’t any formal “pre-discussion” or sharing group to discuss your intentions, something else that I had read about for other retreats.
The dieta goes something like this:
Other notes:
Things I wish I had packed the first time:

Here are reviews of nearly every Deconstructing Eden fragrance I’ve tried. This is one of my favorite houses. I previously posted reviews of the new spring collection which you can find here. So I won’t be including those here. Most of these appear to be LE scents and/or are no longer available but I still thought it might be helpful to post the reviews of the ones I’ve tried.
When reviewing a scent I typically write down my first impressions before checking the notes. Notes I like: most florals (lavender and rose are my favorite), woodsy smells and most woods (especially cedar and hinoki), dead leaves, dirt, petrichor, realistic fruits, patchouli, incense, spices. Notes I don’t go for: most gourmand notes (except rice), musks. I’ll try almost anything.
On to the reviews!
This smells like a mainstream perfume! I definitely got a lot of petrichor and ozone but it also smells really clean? Like a designer perfume you’d sample from a swatch in a GQ magazine or something. Quite unisex. I liked it and finished off the sample. 7/10
The amber and lavender were competing for strongest note here, but ultimately blend together into a scent that’s quite unique. I don’t always like amber as a note but it’s good here. The cedar and juniper were lurking under the top notes. The lavender was of the more floral rather than herbal variety, which is fine because I don’t think an herbal lavender would have jibed with the amber that well. Unfortunately not as much sillage as I would have liked, but I wore it to bed and could still smell it when I woke up. It manages to smell calming and sexy at the same time, and does have a unisex quality to it. I ended up getting a 5ml one of these secondhand. 8/10 I can see myself wearing this a lot, however as far as DE lavender scents go I think I prefer Grainne Ni Mhaille.
WOW. WOW WOW WOW. I LOVE THIS! Smelled fresh and fruity! Definitely got a huge wave of orange and leather together initially and it’s a unique scent match that I didn’t think I would go for. There’s the tiniest bit of petrichor holding it together and I don’t get much patchouli from it. Kind of unisex I guess from the leather note? DE does unisex scents so well and I really wish I had more of this because I finished off my sample. 10/10
I thought this smelled kind of “cheap” unfortunately. Definitely too sweet for my taste, guess it’s the “skin musks”. I’m still not sure what lipstick is supposed to smell like either. There is a tinge of floral but not much. Wasn’t a fan unfortunately. 4/10
This smelled so weird, like broken dandelion stems/weeds mostly. I didn’t ever pick up on a rose note, this smells more like wet/crushed stems that you’d smell from mowing a lawn. My husband said it gave him a headache. This is a weird one, if you like the smell of broken weeds then I’d recommend it. For me it was a miss, even smelled kind of gross really. 3/10
This also smells like a well-blended mainstream perfume. VERY amber-forward. The florals did emerge after the initial strong burst of amber. Not bad, just more amber-forward than I was expecting and a lot stronger and “darker” too. Has a sultry quality to it and smells better over time but I just wish the amber wasn’t so strong. 6/10
DAMN THIS IS STRONG. Smelled musky and like a man’s cologne. I picked up on the musk, leather, and incense immediately, and thankfully the musk isn’t “funky” and stinky like most musks are to my nose. There is a smoky quality to this, definitely. The amber and a bit of the floral come out over time but this is still straight up strong cologne to me. The patchouli rounds it out as a base note. Why is this so strong? Ultimately it was way too masc for me and a scrubber. 3/10
Yep, smells just like burning dry, dead leaves. I really like this, it reminds me of being out in the country in Arkansas in the fall when people burn their leaves/yard waste (or at least they used to when I was younger). The wood/woodsmoke note is very prominent but blends in perfectly with the dead leaf note. This would be perfect for fall (obviously) and is very rustic. I like it a lot but my husband doesn’t so I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to wear it. 8/10
Smells green but NOT soapy! Yay! I have tried so many woodsy green scents in oil form that come off as soapy even after a long rest so this is a welcome reprieve. The cedar and conifer are really strong when wet which gives it a slight cologne-y quality but nothing as strong as Mandrake House was. Amber is there but thankfully not super noticeable, it’s kind of the glue holding it all together. I never got much of an “earth” or dirt note unfortunately, which is a bit of a bummer since dirt is one of my favorite notes, but I think it may have overwhelmed the other notes anyway. This reads as kind of masc to me but I still love it and think it’s very wearable. My husband said he really liked this one but that it smelled like it had patchouli in it. 8.5/10
This is hands-down one of my favorite indie fragrances EVER. I get mostly aloe and the asphalt note, it’s very unique. It has an airy quality to it as well. I actually had to try this twice before I really got into it, it’s a complex scent and a good atmospheric. 10/10
This smells great! My husband said this was his favorite perfume I’ve worn. Interesting and pleasant combo of lavender, moss and petrichor. The petrichor does have a “murky” quality but isn’t salty. It smells airy and the lavender is slightly more herbal than floral. This is pretty strong too, with moderate throw. A quite relaxing and peaceful fragrance that would make a great sleep scent. 9/10
Citrus, citus, and more citrus! Mostly orange of course with two orange fruit notes and the orange blossom. This is sultry where Serotonin from the same house ("Bergamot, black tea, rose, lavender, vanilla, pink grapefruit") was bright and cheerful. It's the patchouli and resinous notes grounding it. On the drydown it reminds me a bit of Fantôme - Lyudmila ("Ruby red grapefruit, jasmine sambac, rich vanilla, hinoki, a drop of dark dragon's blood, bitter orange, and a sprig of rosemary") with the citrus and resin combo. There's not much vanilla in here to my nose. I think this is a great fragrance but not sure if it's my vibe? 7/10
Wow, I'm being bombarded with so many notes at once. I'm getting the spices and cinnamon first with an underlying peach note. It's like a spiced peach, then the rose and jasmine notes poke through but the spices/cinnamon are still going strong. I don't usually go for cinnamon as a note because my skin tends to amp cinnamon which obscures the other notes, but that's not happening here. The peach fades in the drydown and the bergamot peeks through a bit. Dries down to mostly woods and a touch of oakmoss with an afterglow of florals. This is really well-blended! 8/10
Very interesting scent! Has a really strong peach note when wet that doesn’t read as synthetic at all that recedes (but not fully) to reveal a leather note. It’s not super strong as a fragrance like some of the other DE fragrances I’ve tried but is definitely interesting. I love DE’s realistic peach note. The tobacco comes out on the drydown. I’d like this more if it had more throw. 7/10
This is a lovely soft floral scent that is well-blended, again, hard to pick out a single floral note, though it does smell like white florals. I didn’t get much of a tea note but the pear note did pull through. I fell asleep peacefully wearing this and it mostly feels like a bedtime scent but I could see myself wearing this during the day. Though it has a musk note, it’s not “funky”. 9/10
This is a nice airy floral! Smells peaceful like it would make a great sleep scent. Again, well-blended. I can’t point to any specific floral note in this, they all kind of synergize into something more than the sum of its parts. I can see myself wearing this a lot. Unfortunately not super strong sillage and doesn’t last that long. 8/10
Smelled sweeter than I expected, guess my skin amps the peach note. I got this mainly for the palo santo and lavender notes, but I can’t pick up on any palo santo in this. I didn’t expect it to be so peach-dominant. It’s almost like a one-note peach to me. 6/10
This smells great! The rose attar is the strongest note. In general this smells very incense-y though incense isn’t a listed note, I guess it’s the frankincense and myrrh which are traditionally religious offerings. Smells a bit like what I would imagine a Hindu temple to smell inside, though I’ve been to one and it smelled more like typical satya nag champa incense). In any case, LOVE. 8/10
Smells really strong (and pleasantly) of rose at first but leans a tinge powdery, not in a bad way though. Then the jasmine comes out and takes it from there as the rose recedes, but then the amber starts to overpower the other notes. Dries down to a very ambery sandalwood. I liked this until the drydown. 5/10
This is a nice aquatic floral with a floral note I didn't recognize. I googled Mugunghwa and turns out it's a variety of hibiscus and the national flower of South Korea! It's slightly sweet but not too much so. I love it. There is a "cool stone" note but it isn't metallic or harsh or synthetic smelling, it really does smell like wet stone. This never gets powdery like some floral perfumes. I like this a lot. I knew I would so I bought a larger size of it secondhand from someone's destash before I even tested this sample, lol. 8/10
Wow, this really packs a punch! Very strong wave of citrus on the first whiff, and it’s mainly grapefruit. I love grapefruit in fragrances when it doesn’t completely obscure other notes and here the citrus chills out somewhat and I get the black tea with some floral undertones. This is a very cheerful, aptly named perfume! There is the tiniest tinge of vanilla. My only gripe is that I wish the florals, particularly the lavender, were a bit stronger. 8/10
Definitely smells mostly like lilacs but it’s also a tinge sweet, not in a cloying way though. I guess lilacs are just sweeter smelling than I thought. I don’t get much musk from this, fortunately. It’s nice! Sort of one-note lilac almost though. I like it and would recommend to any lilac lover. 7/10
Very cedar and pepper-forward. My sister said it smelled kind of sweet but I didn’t get any sweetness from it. I like it but it’s a bit too “perfumey” if that makes any sense? Has a unisex feel to it. Woodsy and herbal I guess? Ultimately I like it enough to finish off the sample. 7/10
Initially this smelled like some kind of disinfectant spray like the stuff you’d spray inside of a diaper pail to keep it from stinking. I get how this is supposed to smell like violets and smoke but the smoke is acrid and obscures the floral notes rather than blending in. A scrubbed, unfortunately. 2/10
I was getting mostly beeswax and smoke initially. It smells pretty interesting at first! I like beeswax and can jibe with smoke when it's done properly and doesn't drown out other notes, and it isn't doing that here. Then the patchouli, oud and agar pull forward. I get a touch of something spicy but no citrus. This is just ok, a lot different from the other DE perfumes I've tried but it isn't wowing me. 6/10
Smells mostly like lavender and beeswax to me! I get the violets a bit too. This would make a great sleep scent. I’m not sure that it smells like silk sheets but there’s a scent in this that evokes the feeling of bedsheets anyway. Not a lot of amber to my nose thankfully and if there was a wine note I didn’t notice this. 9/10
. . .
Valentine’s 2024
This also smells almost like a mainstream perfume. There’s something in this that almost smells fruity at first though there’s no fruit. Hard to pick out individual notes because it’s incredibly well blended. The notes that stand out the most are the leather and a cotton scent from the worn denim. The tobacco leaf is noticeable on the drydown. This has a lovely unisex quality to it. 10/10 I full-sized this one!
My first impressions are something floral and something a bit musky. Then looking at the notes, I noticed there’s no floral, I am getting the woods, patchouli and amber though. Just like with Modern Love, I had difficulty picking out individual notes. I do get a cotton scent from this one as well. It’s a bit similar to Modern Love but not as “fresh” smelling. The vetiver and patchouli are most apparent in the drydown. I liked this a lot but only wanted to full-size one of the Valentine’s scents so I went with Modern Love instead. 8/10
Smelled fruity and floral, mostly like a realistic peach. I could pick up on the tiniest bit of vanilla lurking underneath everything. The honeysuckle in particular vibes well wih the peach note. Not too much citrus from the mandarin, this is mostly peach. I really love DE’s peach note and if you’re looking for a peach-heavy fragrance I highly recommend this one. Amazing scent and STRONG too! 7.5/10
I smelled something that I thought was blueberries but it turned out to be the pomegranate molasses. I did get a tinge of rosewater and violet is the strongest floral note here. This is really nice! It smells bluish/purplish. 8/10
Smells fresh and floral. Good throw too. I didn’t detect much vanilla but definitely the lavender and rose and once again it’s well-blended so hard to focus on individual notes. The mango wasn’t really that noticeable to me, and the saffron isn’t that spicy. It’s mostly just straight up floral, and I’m a fan of florals, so I’m a fan of this. 7.5/10
This smells really juvenile to me like something a teenage girl would wear. I’m not really a gourmand person so I knew I probably wouldn’t go for this anyway, but the strawberry note is very synthetic to my nose. The rose note is nice and almost obscures the fake strawberry but not quite. And like I said I’m iffy about amber. This was a freebie that came with my Valentine’s order but I definitely wouldn’t have picked this out for myself. I get what they were going for, but respectively, NO. 2/10
Sorry if this was a lot to read! I hope it’s helpful to some of you.

2024.05.31 16:11 ayimvd Should I make a mixture to heal a leg ulcer?

I'm completely new to herbalism but I believe in it more than other things. I have this skin rash starting from cutting my leg and worried it might turn into an ulcer, been compression wrapping it with neosporin for a few days
I'm thinking of making a mixture of Gotu Kola powder, Vitamin E / Gamma E, Castor Oil, Aloe Vera raw, Calendula powder raw mixing it all together...... Or buying an already made Slav off amazon with calendula / Vitamin E already in it, and mixing it gotu kola powder and aloe vera
Good or bad idea? I heard Goto Kola is amazing at healing wounds and aloe vera, but can't find any specific pastes for ulcers with it on amazon or anywhere lol

2024.05.30 11:05 jammyJames81 What (if any) store shampoo has a really strong, really good fragrance that lasts all day?

Here’s the deal upfront yes I’m a stylist which always seems to get a few confused people when I ask hair related questions lol. The thing is when you work in a salon especially officially branded ones like Bumble and Bumble, Oribe, an Aveda salon etc… you primarily use that lines products. They’re great in general, & while not knocking drug store brands which some are pretty good as well. But many of the salon brands do spend more on testing, & development so many do have a difference in quality. That being said I miss growing up when certain drug store shampoos had such potent fragrances they were intoxicating & lasted all day long. Either you could smell it on friends, teachers, as I got older girlfriends & when I grew my hair longer, myself. Problem with salon brands is despite some of them having the most incredible scents almost none of them last past the shower stage of your day. I really want to find a decent shampoo &/or conditioner with a strong, everlasting fragrance especially now that I happen to have grown my hair out but I’m not really familiar with the drugstore brands like I used to be. Any suggestions?
When I was a kid the ones that had these potent scents I remember were Vibrance (very fresh orange citrusy sweet). Pantene I know they still make, but the scent didn’t last long. Herbal Essence had some long lasting ones but I don’t remember which kind plus some smelled better than others. Outrageous by Revlon but doubt they still make it. I remember a lot of kids used salon selective which was potent but it smelled like Apples & not my favorite. I used to like Aussie in the purple bottles either that grape like scent but I think I’ve outgrown that one. Ok any suggestions I hope? T.i.A.🙏

2024.05.29 21:29 TKWander Stone & Wit Sampler 5 scent Review

Hi Everyone!
Yesterday I posted my Ghoulish Goods review and now here's one for my Stone & Wit Order!!
This one was also a very fast TAT, got to me within 1-2 weeks. It came in while I was away on a work trip, so this review is from after they've been resting for the last week or so.
_________________________________________
My Rating System:
1/5: In my opinion this scent just smells really bad. I am not interested in the least. It is NOT my cup of tea and I would actively run away if I smelled it on someone else
2/5: Eh, it smells more like a scent for a cleaner or laundry detergent or maybe just a room scent. Not a perfume/cologne for me
3/5: Not my cup of tea, but It's well balanced and I could see someone else wearing it! Just not me lol
4/5: Almost perfect, just missing a scent note or two, or doesn't last very long, or dries down powdery/weirdly
5/5: I love this scent and will definitely be wearing it, if not FS-ing it!
+/5: I want to swim in this scent lol

Blackberry Heartwood:
Official description: Blackberry and sandalwood. A deceptively simple description for what I’ve been chasing with this perfume. This isn’t the odor of fresh blackberries, it’s the juicy and tart and citrus tingle of eating them. It's the background presence of a sunlit forest, warm green leaves and wood. Sandalwood adds its richness to the sun-warmed woods and amyris gives an earthy body and depth to the entire composition.
Notes: Blackberries, warm greens, sandalwood, amyris
Descriptors: bright, tart, berry, citrus, wood, musk
My first thoughts: Super light, fruity, and almost Nostalgic for me?? Like it's weirdly bringing me back to my childhood. Maybe it's reminiscent of a scent on of my relatives would wear. It's a really beautiful scent straight out the bottle, though. Wet, you can Definitely smell the warm greens (weirdly reminds me of Neon Noir, down belwo) and the blackberries, but then as it dries you get the melody of citrus and wood and musk. It's a light sweet fruity slightly woody scent. I don't know if it'll be a Full size buy, cause it does tend to disappear fast on me (may just be my skin chemistry and the fact I was straight out the shower), but I do really like it!
4/5 I wish it had a bit of a stronger throw on it and lasted longer on my skin. I feel like it needs to be slathered onto my skin to really get the full effects. Sadly within 30 minutes or so, it was gone, even after I went back and added on another layer or two :/
*I'll probably FS it anyways, just to layer it with Neon Noir lol. I've found they're a really fun combo for my Summer Burn season ;) _________________________________________
Neon Noir
Notes: Pink limeade, cannabis leaf, plum, vetiver, cetalox
Descriptors: Fruit, Green, Spicy, Sweet, Tart, Earthy
Original scent notes:
Sour citrus and sugar sweetened grenadine contrast and compliment the tart and herbal cannabis leaf accord. This cannabis leaf accord is not the terpene pong of cannabis extracts, but the fresh green spiciness of the living plant. The dry down of vetiver and white musk smooths the spiciness out and accents it. A plum accord provides a dark backbone to the bright vetiver and white musk.
My review: Oh my goodness this is so weird and funky and WONDERFUL!! It's fruity and tart and a bit spicy and green, and FUNKY ooh that cannabis! This is TOTALLY a RaveBurneFestival Go-er scent. My goodness I absolutely love it. I am SO GLAD I GOT IT. I'm a burner and this is definitely gonna be one of my go to scents to bring. I am TOTALLY gonna FS it!! Still a bit light (I think I may just need to accept my skin gobbles scents lol), but I don't care, I love it. And I have been adding it to pretty much every scent the last two day, that I have, to give myself a cannabis/ravehippie kind of vibe. I ABSOLUTELY love this, and this scent is seriously the main reason that has me going back to look for more samples from this House lol. I just feel like it's a perfume house that needs to be spritzed all over my clothes, rather than rolled or sprayed a little bit at the pulse points lol
8/5
_________________________________________
Mostly Just Peach
Notes: Peach, peach pit, white musks, ambroxan
Descriptors: cool, lactonic, creamy, woody, sweet
My Review: It is a bit too soapy of a peach for me (I've been getting that when woody is mixed with peach). Would be amazing as a peach body wash or lotion, and it would be the only body wash/lotion I'd buy. Sadly, though, not my favorite for a perfume. This one's definitely going into some lotion of mine.
Anybody know of more true photorealistic juicy peach scents? Ones that DON'T go soapy, but stay fruity/juicy??
2.5/5 _________________________________________
We played our records too many times Notes: Black Cherry+ Orchids+ coffee+double distilled vetiver
Original description: Inspired by the works of ALKALINE TRIO, mostly the album This Addiction. Black cherry top notes straddle the line between sweet and sour, like pop punk music and horror story lyrics. Transparent green and white orchids lend their shimmering ghostly refraction, unobtrusive and accenting both the top and base notes. Rich, slightly smokey coffee counters the sweet and dry earthiness of double distilled vetiver in the dry down.
My review: First out the bottle, on my skin….WOW the coffee. If you think from the Black cherry and orchid notes that this is a sweet perfume, it is NOT. It's Way more of an atmospheric scent. Coffee and sweet stale smoke
When I first smelled it out the bottle, I could Really get the Black cherry and orchid, but then Woof, just strong bitter black coffee (no cream or sugar in there At all). But, it mellows out again after a while and blends in with everything else, I just don't get that strong hit of black cherry anymore, which kinda sucks. I think I may layer this with Fuckery from Sorcellerie Apothecary. I REALLY want that strong black cherry hit.
Yeah, mixed with Fuckery I get that 'cool girl wearing a leather jacket, looking through records at the record store' vibes, MUCH moreso, then just with We Played records backwards alone. Alone, it's a COFFEE forward scent with almost a slight undertone of black cherry and orchids. Whereas I would much prefer a scent with coffee as an Undertone and Black Cherry the forefront
After about an hour or so dries down to a slightly fruity (but that may be from the Fuckery I layered over it, keep in mind) black coffee and stale cigarette smoke smell, which is totally accurate to the record store vibe they're going for, I just wish it were more a base for a juicier black cherry/floral, rather than being the main contenders. This one will be probably a great middle tone layer-er for me, once I find the perfect black cherry scent to pop on over it, and maybe a good leather scent to layer in underneath
3/5

Lost temple
Notes: Birch leaves, cool air, incense
Descriptors: forest, green, spicy, mint, incense, patchouli, smoke
My Review: first out the bottle on my skin I LOVE this scent, but when it dries it completely disappears :/ . It completely befuddled me, so I went to something else and smelled the area on my skin again a few minutes later, just for a clean palate and I only get the vaguest sense of the scent.
Wet on my skin it's Super fresh and green, almost citrusy with the freshness of the birch. Like you're in a tree lot, without it being Christmas-y. But, yeah, after laying it on 2 other spots on my skin, it evaporated almost immediately within 5 minutes on my skin :/
I honestly don't know how to rate this one, cause I really do love the scent itself, I give it a 3.5/5 - only because while I LOVE the scent first out the bottle (would totally be a 5 out of 5 cause while it's almost a citric wood scent, without going cleaner fluid, which I've been searching for, for a While, I think I have to pretty much swim in it to really get a good sense of it on my skin :/
Okay, after slathering it up and down my arms, I'll raise it up to a 4/5. It's still Super light on my skin, but gosh darn do I love this scent. I weirdly get citrus woods vibes out of it, which I've been searching for, for a long while now (everything turns out too cleaner fluid vibes). I may just have to FS just to be able to spray myself down lol
_________________________________________
All in all, I'm giving this Scent House, Stone & Wit, a 4/5 so far... I loved the smell of almost every single one of these scents, they just do not last very long at all on me. Talking maybe 30 min-1 hour.
Maybe I just have to accept my skin gobbles scents....unless this house a fast flee-er on anyone else??
_________________________________________
My picks favorite to least favorite:
Neon Noir - Surprise favorite. Blackberry Heartwood - doesn't last, though I do love the scent. This layered with Neon Noir is going to be a favorite for this Summer as I go to all my Burn events! Lost Temple - I literally Have to swim in it, for it to take to my skin lol. Then it lasts for a good while (4 hours or so, just lightly) We Played Our Records Backwards too Many Times - good for a layer-er Mostly Just Peach - good for my lotion bottle, not for a scent

2024.05.29 02:11 TKWander Ghoulish Goods first Sampler review! *9 scent reviews*

OOOH. I was SO excited for these! I got an 8 pack sampler set (which they have a REALLY cool system where you can pretty much get as many samples as you like, and aren't limited to a 5 pack). They came in while I was away on a trip, so thankfully I got to skip a week waiting period and get to them after they had settled a bit, to try them out. Great TAT from this house (got them in within a week or two) AND you got to pick which Freebie you wanted, which was so awesome!
My review of this scent house so far: 4/5. It would honestly be a 5/5, but for that they have such a short wear period on my skin. Pretty much every 2 hours, I'd have to reapply :/ But, pretty much every single scent was really great and accurate to their scent descriptions, and I'll probably still FS buy a few!
Just make sure to slightly mix these guys up by turning them up and down a couple times (not so fast that you create air bubbles), to make sure the scent is fully mixed. You'll read in my notes, some of my first impressions when I Didn't do that. Don't make my mistake lol

Cottagecore No. 1:
Official scent description: It is a warm and inviting blend of blueberry cobbler, wood burning stove, and spice cabinet. It starts off sweet with a buttery rich crust and fresh picked blueberry cobbler. A whisp of spices cut through to break up the sugars. There's a background of smoke, musk and burning wood that lingers in the background but really comes to life on the dry down. The sweetness fades to meet merrily in a dance of oud wood, smoke, spice and cobbler. Feels like a cottage in the woods on a warm summer day after picking berries all morning. A fresh cobbler in the wood burning and comfort in your soul. A gender neutral scent that anyone can enjoy.
Top- buttery crust, cinnamon, incense
Middle- blueberry, brown sugar, wood smoke
Bottom- vanilla bean, oud, musk, amber
My review: Straight out the bottle, it is pure blueberry cobbler, but as it dries, it gets weirdly perfume-y? Very quickly, too. You still get the hints of blueberry, but this powdery note kinda overtakes it all.
After a little bit the powder dies down and do you get more of the buttery crust blueberry cobbler, but this one may not be my cup of tea, sadly :/
2/5
**after about 10 minutes the blueberry pops back up to a mix of spices and blueberries that I actually like! 3 or 4/5. I do wish it had a bit more blueberry throw AND didn't have that weird powdery burst at the first dry down. A very fruity comforting fall scent, I think. Yeah, I really like it for a fruity fall scent**
**UPDATE*\*
I had to try this one a second time after that initial review. Just to try it after shaking it lightly, just a bit, to mix.
Wet I absolutely love this scent. It's giving start of fall and you're making blueberry pie or cobbler and it's spiced with fall spices and you even scraped out some authentic vanilla beans for the recipe and I actually don't get that weird strong powdery note at all! So, definitely make sure to turn samples from this house a time or two, to make sure everything is mixed, but not so much that there are air bubbles. After about 30 or so minutes it dries down to autumn cooking spices, mainly, with mainly a hint of a fruity scent. Still lovely though!
4.5 /5 it would be 5, but pretty much all the scents from this house go poof very quickly on me. All trace of it leaves my skin by 2.5/3 hours

MIDNIGHT CIRCUS
This one was my freebie. My brother and I are putting on a type of Dark Karnival -esque camping event this fall and I really wanted to get a scent to wear there lol
Official scent description: a dark yet lively experience of caramel popcorn, fire, lacquer floorboards and whimsy
Top- hickory, honey, incense, cinnamon
Middle- smoke, amyris, caramel, salt, praline, spice
Bottom- cedarwood, moss, oud, olibanum, amber, musk, leather, popcorn, butter, vanilla
My review: This smells exactly like you're walking around a fall carnival with a big bonfire going on in the middle. Essentially it smells like your favorite fall candle scent, but just a bit more complex with the wiffs of campfire smoke and cedarwood in there. Even though it's the end of May, I sniff it on my wrist and think it's gonna be chilly outside. That feeling you get when the seasons are changing.
Strongest notes on me: wood smoke (though I wish I got more hickory to it), spices (cinnamon mainly), carameled buttery popcorn, vanilla and maybe the honey, maybe praline? It all blends very nicely into a great, if slightly generic, fall scent
Notes I don't get at all: leather, moss, oud. Those are the notes that would probably make this perfectly complex, but I just don't get them out of it. It's pure fall gourmand. I'll probably layer this over a scent that has those notes and need sweetening
Enough of a throw that I get a wiff going about my day
last drydown: dries down to autumn spices, essentially. Reminds me of walking in Gatlinburg in the fall, through all the little shops nestled in the mountain amongst the autumn trees. Completely gone within 3 hours though
4/5

BLACK HONEY
Official Description: Black Honey is a sultry blend of Spiced Honey, black amber, cedarwood, tonka, and tobacco leaf.
My Review:
I like it! I just don't LOVE it :/
The spiced honey notes in this, wet straight on my skin, are my favorite parts, though there is a weird 'Clean' note behind it as an undertone. Maybe it's the black Amber or the tonka. I've been running down a dead note for myself and one of those might be the one. The strong Clean note blends back down into the other notes, after a bit, though. But, going back to it after about 30 minutes, it does still smell very 'clean' smelling. Like, I showered with a dark spiced honey shower soap.
Sadly, I think honey may just be a note so good note for me. So far, it always goes soapy/clean on me :/ I'm hoping it's not just the Honey note in particular, and more just an underlying note or two that generally gets paired with Honey. Otherwise, honey may be a dead note for me :/
Long drydown: it smells like I just stepped into a specialty soap shop. The ones where they sell soaps, beeswax, and honey. And by afternoon my skin just smelled lightly sweet from it. Not my favorite for most days, but maybe on occasion, or to layer in a honey note to my darker more witchy scents
3.5/5 *sigh* I really just want a dark spicy Gourmand honey. Can anyone give me any suggestions for that?? a Honey scent that DOESN'T dry down clean and powdery??

Haunted Library
Official description: This scent will transport you to an old Victorian library. With ceiling high wooden book shelves, Creaky floorboards, leather bound books covered in a blanket of dust, fragile yellowing pages, and musty tufted chairs. Wafting through it all is the scent of sweet tobacco- the scent of the spirit that haunts these walls.
Top- Teakwood, tonka
Middle- cedar, leather, sweet tobacco, molasses
Bottom- sandalwood, Patchouli, mahogany, dark musk
My Review: a VERY light scent. Wow. Make sure you turn up and down a bit to really make sure the scent is fully blended, cause I could Barely smell it out of the bottle. It's a bit Cleaner than what I think a haunted library would really smell like. But, maybe like a lady ghosts' personal library? Overlooking the sea maybe? It weirdly gives off Cape Cod/Northeast coast/maine vibes to me. Like a Ladies Library in a Newport mansion.
I'm generally more of a sweet fruity over complex herbally scent person, or really cool gourmand scents, but I actually really like this scent! I have no clue in what instance I'd wear it, but I really do like it. I'll probably use it to give a tea or vanilla scent more complexity, or after wearing them, maybe even layering it with Stains of scarlet (down below). I don't get too much of the individual notes, but they all blend Very nicely for a femme leaning unisex scent!
As it dried the dust notes got sharper and the molasses got brought out more. First out the bottle, the wood and pachouli notes are a bit stronger. I still don't really get any leather though. My kingdom for a good strong leather scent! Lol. This is like a dainty haunted library, haunted by one of the Bridgerton ladies lol. Sweet, slightly dusty and papery, with a light hint of nostalgia and faded sweet perfume….Oh my goodness, this is Eloise's scent lol, to a T
4/5 only really because it's not really my vibe and this scent house goes poof too fast on me. All the scents from this house poof in about 2.5/3 hours

White Magic
Official description: White magic is an herbaceous blend of sage, lavender, incense and eucalyptus. The sage, lavender and eucalyptus are balanced equally where the incense is more of a background player here. This blend feels clean and comfortable and wears beautifully. Sage can be an off-putting smell to some put it is added subtly to not shine over the lavender. It rings to me, as a comforting freshness that I can't get enough of. This is a gender neutral scent.
Top- lavender, bergamot, pine needles, eucalyptus
Middle- chamomile, sage, camphor, rosemary, pepper
Bottom- Cedar, Sandalwood, incense, Orris root, amber
My thoughts: First out the bottle my first thought was YES!!!!!! Finally a lavender scent that doesn't smell powdery or like laundry soap! It does smell a wee bit Clean, but I think that's more the nature of any scent with these scent notes, since they're used in cleaning supplies and soaps so often. But, this scent is a Super green floral. No powdery note to my nose at all! (and I pull powder like CRAZY lol, it's been a problem for me since I hate powdery scents). This scent transports me to a spa shop full of fresh drying Eucalyptus, sage, and lavender. By the last drydown, the Eucalyptus is the strongest note
4.5 out of 5, only because this scent house goes poof too fast on me. All the scents from this house poof in about 2.5/3 hours ______________________________________________
Memento Mori
Official Description: an intriguing blend of smoked vanilla, dark spice, patchouli and black amber.
Top- smoke, clove, white pepper, blood orange Middle- sandalwood, jasmine, amber, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamom seed Bottom- black amber, vanilla, dark musk, benzoin, amyris, patchouli, cassia bark, ebonywood, dark musk
My review: Not gonna lie, this is almost chrismasy. Like a Dark Yule vibe. The dark spice in there completely reminds me of late fall/early winter spices. It's definitely going to be a fall/winter scent for me. Smokey spiced vanilla and clove. It'll be perfect to mix with an Apple scent to add more Autumn/early winter complexity! It gives walking in late fall/crisp winter when the leaves are almost all gone and you have a cinnamon chai warm in your hands walking out in the cold, vs Midnight Circus which gives off Fall carnival with smoky campfire vibes
By the end of the drydown (1.5 hours, maybe 2), all I get is cinnamon and maybe some other spices, Very light sweetness coming from the vanilla. This'll be a good mixer with some of my more sharp winter woodsy scents from Pineward, for a great late fall/winteyule scent!
4.5 out of 5, only because this scent house goes poof too fast on me. All the scents from this house poof in about 2.5/3 hours

Nightshade Elixir
Official Description: Nightshade Elixir is an intoxicating blend of deadly nightshade, Moonflower Nectar, Elderberry and absinthe. There is a mysterious quality to this blend that keeps it from being too sweet from the berries or too floral from the Moonflower. There is a perfect blend of fruity, floral, spice and mystery. It starts out on the sweeter side to draw you in (from the black currant and agave), before the deadly dark side starts to shine through on the dry down with black tea, saffron, absinthe and Anise. An all together delectable and mysterious blend that will keep you coming back for more
Top- saffron, anise, agave
Middle- Black current, black berry, jasmine
Bottom- amber, tonka, dark musk, black tea, absinthe, dark musk
My review: Okay, this one does go a bit on the powdery/clean perfume vibes. But, I do still like it?? Very strange, considering I hate clean/powdery scents, but this one balances the Clean notes with a juicy fruity flowery vibe that it balances things quite nicely and I can't stop smelling myself. There's a sharp powdery note in there, though, that keeps me from giving it a 4/5. I've narrowed it down to either the Amber or dark musk or tonka. Whatever it is, it's totally a dead note for me. It's popped up in a few other scents over the samples I've gotten, and it's been quite annoying. I May add something a bit juicier to this. But, it almost gives Spring Fairy Queen vibes. fruity and florally, but also a bit perfumey and stringent
3.5/5 I do like it, it's just a bit too powdery perfume-y for me. Under a pear or other fruit scent, I think it would be quite nice!

Black no 1
Original description: This scent was inspired by Type O Negative's song, "Black No.1", with notes of crisp fall leaves, burning cedar, smoke and incense.
I wanted to capture the essence of burning leaves as well as autumn air, a faint whisp of clove cigarettes, freshly dyed hair and wolf skin boots. The scent opens up with deep Notes of leather, incense and smoke. Then, brightens slightly with spiced fruit in autumn air, intermingled with warm amber. Wrapped up on a base of burning cedar and musk. This is a deep, gender neutral scent, not for the faint of heart
Top- incense, cedar leaf
Middle- green leaves, smoke, pine, spiced fruit
Bottom- cedar, amber, musk, leather
My review: Ooh, you DEFINITELY get the spiced fruit. Where Memento Mori you get a late fall Slightly into Winter vibe, this scent is ALL winter vibes. Like you're drinking mulled berry wine and christmas shopping downtown, so there's a tinge of cold in the air and incense/fall scented candles are lit in the stores. This scent house REALLY likes its cinnamon note. Those spices are the strongest hit in this, first on my skin. Straight spiced mulled fruits
4/5 but only because the scent description notes of 'clove cigarettes, freshly dyed hair, and wolf skin boots' kinda gave me the vibe that it would be more a kickass chick wearing a leather jacket- kind of scent, but it's more a straightforward CHRISTMAS scent lol. Did not expect that vibe from the original scent description. If the leather and smoke and leaves and cedar were more prominent, maybe. I just REALLY want a good leather scent :/

Stains of Scarlet
Original description: It brings to life the image of fresh picked strawberries from your yard, homemade preserves and strawberry shortcake on the top notes. With the tartness of the rhubarb cuts through the sweetness to balance it out and earthy, fresh turned dirt from your garden on the dry down.
Top- fresh strawberries, citrus, rhubarb, Italian bergamot, geranium leaves Middle- buttery shortbread, jasmine, rosewood Bottom- vanilla cake, white oak, light musk, dirt
My thoughts: I love this. 5/5. Love the scent combo of the strawberries and rhubarb. The rhubarb adds a tartness to the strawberries and the vanilla and shortbread notes help it to not be Too fruity/funky. It's really nicely balanced and by the end of the drydown (2.5ish hours (DO NOT RUB INTO SKIN LOL)) it was a super nostalgic strawberry scent. Like from the 'strawberries' you fed your baby doll lol. The ones that came with a little actual scent

I hope this review helps out someone looking for new samples to try!
Also, if anyone could recommend a really good leather scent...please hook a girl up? ;)

UPDATE: About a week after I posted this, I found out you're not really supposed to rub the scent in lol. Let it air dry. Rubbing it in destroys the top notes and quickens the overall scent fade. Now that I've stopped rubbing them in, the scents go from lasting 30 or so minutes, to more like 2.5ish hours. Still not too long a scent life, but Way better!
