2024.06.09 21:56 mattwoberts Considering a HHKB Hybrid S-Type

Hey all,
Just came by to say I'm really eyeing up a HHKB Hybrid S-Type, after hearing so much good stuff about them. I've never tried one, no idea what it's like to type on a Topre switch, but from what I read it's a nice experience...
I came from a Apple Magic Keyboard, had a short go on a Keychron K2 (too flimsy and cheap for me), then onto an Ultimate Hacking Keyboard, and now I've also got a Keychron Q10 Pro with a variety of switches. I like both the mech keyboards, and I've tried a variety of switches (Boba U4T being my favourite), but Im yet to find the right keyboard. The Ultimate Hacking Keyboard showed me that I can live without arrow keys (although I'd rather have them given a choice).
It's a shame it's impossible to try these before you get one - did anyone come from a similar setup to the HHKB, and how did it go?

2024.06.09 21:40 ACosmicClamor Keybinds breaking randomly?

I've been having this issue on multiple versions of Beepbox (Ultrabox, Jummbox, Paandora) where on occasion the ability to use my keyboard completely breaks. Pressing any key that is meant to be used as a keybind (like S for solo or + to move patterns upwards) will register as me playing a note on the piano roll. I've encountered this issue on my Chromebook when I used it and my laptop. Even CTRL + R will instead randomize the instrument on the selected channel instead of reloading the page lol
edit - i think it may be an issue with note recording randomly activating. im unsure why, as the button to turn it on is never pressed when this happens, nor does it actually record anything.

2024.06.09 21:21 PhoenixMori 38 [M4F] Washington DC - Super honest stoner artist seeks friendly flirting partner

Hey reddit! I'm a 38 year old latin guy from Washington DC. Honesty is the best policy so I'll make it known now that I'm not looking for platonic friends, I'm looking for a romantic partner. Buckle up, because I'm about to unveil why I may or may not be the right partner for you in a classic listicle style that all you youngin's love.
About Me:
You'll never believe number 6!
  1. I'm a bit of a stoner. It's true, your boy loves himself some marijuana. (In fact, I did a 25mg edible earlier) I endeavor to never let it take over my life, but it aids a lot in #2 on this list. I'm also not a stranger to the very occasional mushroom trip.
  2. I'm a true creative. Left to my own devices in an empty room, I would constantly create new things. Whether that be drawing, writings, photography, music or stoner ideas. It's my true nature to be a creative and to stifle that part of myself makes me pretty sad. Fortunately, I get to create on a daily basis. which brings me to..
  3. I have the kindest heart. I see life through rose colored glasses, some may say. I just believe in the good in people. I think most people are good and those that are bad are redeemable. Whether someone is ultra religious, a different political affiliation, good, bad, ugly, whatever...I believe in getting to know them for myself and making my own decision of them. As a friend I always stick by my friends, no matter what. Friends in my life are friends for life, even if we lose touch. There is a downside to all this...it's that sometimes people take advantage of me. I don't care. When confronted with the choice to be loving or to be cruel or apathetic, I will always choose loving.
  4. I make people laugh. Comedy and jokes have always been a part of me. Maybe it's the fact that I'm a middle child and craved attention or the fact that I grew up in a city where I had to be quick on my feet, but I love to make people laugh. This is best done in person but there can be humor over the internet too. :)
  5. I don't take myself too seriously. I'm a talented person in my field and it's important for me to let go of my ego. There isn't a single person that I can't learn from and at my best I'm always open to listen to people's opinions of me or my creative work.
  6. I see beauty in everyone, including you. If you hadn't guessed by now, I'm a photographer. I'm into portraits and I value my connection with people one-on-one and I think that's what makes me a talented portrait photographer. I often hear people talk about the things they hate about themselves but try to reflect to them their true beauty. The beauty that was always there and that they need to be reconnected to.
  7. I'm culturally Latino. My parents are from El Salvador, but I was born and raised in DC. I have the experience of being born into a family of immigrants and understand the duality of living in two different worlds. While Spanish was my first language, it is not what I consider to be my native tongue. While I understand all Spanish, all my Spanish is food related.
  8. I've done the self work. It's true. I'm not a man that punches walls, gets drunk and cries, will cheat on you, lie to you or a myriad of other things that toxic people do. I am not without faults, of course, but I have worked my demons out for the most part. I'm very self-aware and open to criticism and change.
  9. I'm honest 99.5% of the time. Anyone professing to be honest 100% of the time is a liar. Ask me directly and I'll tell you my last big lie.
  10. I know where I want to be in life. I'm close to getting there too. I've been at it for 13 years now and I feel that success is imminent. Will you be a part of it?
So what are you waiting for? Dust off that old keyboard, pound away at a few keys, and get ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure brought to you by (as they said in my day) the world wide web.
P.S - I'm 6'2. I should've started with that.

2024.06.09 21:00 quasicoherent_drunk Scrolling with Nano

I was wondering if it would be possible to use a key on my keyboard to toggle scrolling with the Nano trackball.
I did find a previous Reddit post that seems to use the NumLock status to accomplish this, but it is from 3 years ago (with more recent comments saying that it is no longer working), and I was wondering if there was another solution.
The README on the QMK GitHub mentions DRAG_SCROLL, but would I be correct in guessing that this needs to be bound on a button on the trackball? (So it wouldn't work for the Nano?)

2024.06.09 20:53 spatafore Lowfree Flow 84 vs 100, which one do you prefer?

maybe is stupid question but Im debating if choose the 84 or 100 keys, the difference of course is the numpad. Also I see the 84 have one key more? the Ins? I dont know about that key.
I use a keyboard and trackpad on mac and that is, no mouse for me.
I have right now the normal short magic apple keyboard https://www.bhphotovideo.com/cdn-cgi/image/fit=scale-down,width=500,quality=95/https://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/images500x500/apple_mk2a3ll_a_magic_keyboard_1629845185_1658217.jpg
I like short due the trackpad is beside on the right, so is very close to my right hand.
Apple has a normal long https://static.bhphoto.com/images/multiple_images/images1000x1000/1566928819_IMG_1242697.jpg but is too long, so my trackpad goes very distance and I the keys of the keyboard dont stay on the center.
so!!! thats when the lowfree 100 turns inteteresting, becuase is still short and have the numpad not like the very long apple one.
I dont know, maybe I should stay on the short 84?
sizes: (the difference are 3 rows of keys more)
100: 373mm x 126mm x 26mm
84: 316mm x 126mm x 24.5mm

2024.06.09 20:04 UrMum27 Where can you buy replacement keys for magic keyboard?

Have a magic keyboard for the ipad pro 12.9 inch. For 4 years no problem at all with the keyboard still works but the space bar has fallen off and would rather just get a key replacment than a whole new keyboard. Have tried looking on ebay but everything seems to be out of stock. Would be much appreciated if anyone knows where to buy a spacebar key, preferably within uk/eu. Thanks

2024.06.09 19:47 Exciting-Interest831 Blackwidow V4 Pro Keyboard Issues yet again - What other manufacturers would you recommend?

Like everyone else, I'm suffering multiple or missed keypresses with my Blackwidow V4 Pro yet again. I had this problem with my first one and I tried to RMA it but Razer support wanted me to send the keyboard in for testing first and then they'd send a replacement back if they confirmed the issue.
This is sort of a non-starter because when I asked them what I should use for a keyboard while they had it, the response I got was along the lines of "sucks to be you". Fortunately, I was still within the time I could return it to Amazon for a replacement - Which they shipped to me before I had to return the failing one (maybe Razer should learn from that).
Anyway, the new keyboard has now developed the same issue and I'm left with waiting how many ever weeks Razer takes to get a "working" keyboard, and based on what others are saying, it'll only be a matter time time till the faults show up again.
So dear Reddit community, does anyone have any suggestions for a different keyboard manufacturer?
This disappoints me because I actually like the feel of the keys on the V4 Pro and the layout/reconfigurability of the switches but fundamentally a keyboard is for typing and if it can't do that then it really isn't worth putting up with.
Thoughts or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

2024.06.09 18:59 Czar_roland Unicomp UT40U46 W and A Rollover Problem

Howdy everyone, I searched around for the issue that I am having but did not see anything that is exactly what I am experiencing.
I purchased a Unicomp model m back in 2022 to use with my vintage PCs. I love the keyboard except that while holding W on the keyboard I cannot press A or D without having the system beep, and the second input, such as A is ignored.
I was wondering if this is a hardware or firmware error. I will say that sometimes the system will display a stuck key error on boot. I have tried removing keys and reseating the springs, but it has not helped.
The full model is: UT40U460268218
Thank you,

2024.06.09 18:36 hackr_io_team Interactive Photo Gallery Project

I wanted to share a project for intermediate HTML designers. I'll include the code and steps for each part. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Step 1: Setting Up The Project

Start by preparing your environment to develop an interactive photo gallery with HTML.
If you want to dive straight in, I'd recommend following along with me using our online coding environments.
We’ll use some JavaScript for this project, so I’d recommend using an online JavaScript compiler to build with. I will also outline the steps for you to create the necessary files and organize your workspace on your own computer.
Just follow these, and you'll have a solid foundation for your project.
i. Choose an IDE or Editor
Before you start, choose an IDE or editor tailored for web development. I favor Visual Studio Code (VSCode).
It's for HTML and CSS and a solid choice if you’d prefer to build on your own machine.
ii. Install Necessary Plugins
If you choose VSCode, consider installing VSCode extensions like "Live Server" to preview your HTML pages in real time and "Prettier" for code formatting.
These tools will make your development process smoother and more efficient.
iii. Create a New HTML Project
Once your editor is set up, it's time to create a new project:
iv. Set Up a Basic HTML Structure
Open your index.html file and set up a basic HTML structure. Here’s a simple template to get you started:
     Interactive Photo Gallery
Header content like a title or a navigation bar
Gallery content will go here
Footer content, perhaps some contact info or social links
Here's the compiler where you can try it.
This is the basic structure every HTML project that uses JavaScript starts with.
We've got our DOCTYPE, HTML tag, head section (with meta tags, title, and links to our CSS and JavaScript files), and the body where our content will go.
This basic structure also introduces the JavaScript file linked with the defer attribute, ensuring it loads after the HTML content.
v. Prepare for CSS and JavaScript Development
Make sure your styles.css is linked correctly, and your script.js is set to load at the right time in your HTML file to start adding styles and functionality in the next steps.
vi. Verify Project Setup
To ensure everything is set up correctly, try opening your index.html with the Live Server plugin or directly in your browser.
You should see a blank page with the basic document structure ready to be filled with content.
And there you have it! You’ve successfully set up your environment to create an interactive photo gallery with HTML.
Next, you'll create the HTML structure for your interactive photo gallery.

Step 2: Creating the HTML Structure

With your development environment ready, it’s time to construct the HTML skeleton of your interactive photo gallery.
i. Create the Header Section
The header will introduce your gallery. You might want to include a catchy title or a brief description:

My Photo Gallery

Explore my collection of high-quality images ranging from landscapes to portraits.
This sets the tone and context for the visitors of your gallery.
ii. Set Up the Gallery Section
This main part will hold all your images in a grid or other layout:

Replace "path-to-image-1.jpg" with the actual path to each image. Ensure that each image has an appropriate alt text for accessibility.
iii. Include a Filter Section (Optional)
If your gallery is large, consider adding filters to help viewers sort images by categories:

These buttons are set up to trigger JavaScript functions that will filter the gallery based on the category.
iv. Add a Modal for Image Viewing (Optional)
To enhance the interactivity, include a modal that opens when an image is clicked, allowing for a closer view:

This section will be controlled via JavaScript to display images dynamically when clicked.
Here’s a summary of what we've accomplished in this step:
Let’s move on to Step 3 to style your interactive photo gallery.

Step 3: Styling with CSS

Now your HTML structure is set up, it’s time to add styles to bring your interactive photo gallery to life.
We'll focus on creating a responsive layout and designing aesthetic details like animations and hover effects.
i. Include a Google Font
First, choose a font from Google Fonts that complements the aesthetic of your gallery.
For example, we might use 'Roboto' for its clean and modern appearance. Add this to your HTML file within the section:

This link imports the 'Roboto' font, with normal and bold weights.
ii. Style the Header
Begin by styling the header to make it stand out as the introduction to your gallery:
header { background-color: #f8f9fa; padding: 20px; text-align: center; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif; } header h1 { font-size: 24px; color: #333; } header p { font-size: 16px; color: #666; }
This styling gives your header a clean, professional look.
iii. Style the Gallery Layout
Use CSS Grid or Flexbox to arrange your images in a tidy, responsive grid:
#gallery { display: grid; grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fill, minmax(200px, 1fr)); gap: 10px; padding: 20px; font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif; } .photo { position: relative; } .photo img { width: 100%; height: auto; display: block; } .photo .caption { position: absolute; bottom: 0; background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); color: #fff; width: 100%; text-align: center; padding: 5px 0; }
This grid layout ensures that the gallery is responsive and the images adjust to the screen size.
iv. Style the Filter Buttons
Make the filter buttons interactive and visually pleasing:
nav button { background-color: #fff; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 10px 20px; margin: 10px; cursor: pointer; transition: background-color 0.3s; font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif; } nav button:hover { background-color: #eee; }
The hover effect adds a dynamic element, encouraging users to interact with the filters.
v. Style the Modal for Image Viewing
Create styles for the modal that displays the full image:
.modal { display: none; position: fixed; z-index: 1000; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; overflow: auto; background-color: rgb(0,0,0,0.9); font-family: 'Roboto', sans-serif; } .modal-content { margin: auto; display: block; width: 80%; max-width: 700px; } .close { position: absolute; top: 15px; right: 35px; color: #f1f1f1; font-size: 40px; font-weight: bold; cursor: pointer; } .close:hover, .close:focus { color: #bbb; text-decoration: none; cursor: pointer; } #caption { color: #ccc; font-size: 16px; padding: 15px 20px; text-align: center; width: 100%; }
This styling will create a dark overlay when the modal is active, focusing attention on the clicked image.
vi. Ensure Responsiveness
Add media queries to ensure your gallery looks good on both desktops and mobile devices:
u/media (max-width: 600px) { #gallery { grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fill, minmax(150px, 1fr)); } }
This media query adjusts the size of the gallery cells on smaller screens below 600px.
Here’s a summary of what we've accomplished in this step:
With the CSS styling in place, your photo gallery not only looks more appealing but is also ready for the dynamic interactivity that JavaScript will provide in the next step.

Step 4: Adding Interactivity with JavaScript

With the HTML structure and CSS styling in place, it's time to breathe life into your photo gallery with JavaScript.
This step will involve writing scripts to handle image filtering, modal interactions, and other dynamic behaviors.
i. Implementing Image Filtering
Start by writing a JavaScript function to filter gallery items based on categories:
function filterGallery(category) { const photos = document.querySelectorAll('.photo'); photos.forEach(photo => { const isVisible = category === 'all' photo.classList.contains(category); photo.style.display = isVisible ? '' : 'none'; }); }
This function takes a category and changes the display property of photos that do not belong to that category, effectively hiding them.
ii. Setting Up the Modal View
Write the JavaScript necessary to open a modal when an image is clicked, and populate it with the correct image and caption:
document.querySelectorAll('.photo img').forEach(img => { img.addEventListener('click', function() { const modal = document.getElementById('myModal'); const modalImg = document.getElementById('img01'); const captionText = document.getElementById('caption'); modal.style.display = 'block'; modalImg.src = this.src; captionText.innerHTML = this.nextElementSibling.innerHTML; }); }); // Get the element that closes the modal const closeButton = document.querySelector('.close'); closeButton.onclick = function() { const modal = document.getElementById('myModal'); modal.style.display = 'none'; }
This script sets up event listeners for all images in your gallery.
When an image is clicked, it displays the modal and updates the modal's content with the image and caption of the clicked item.
iii. Enhancing Usability with Keyboard Navigation
Add keyboard functionality to improve accessibility and user experience, allowing users to close the modal with the 'Escape' key:
document.addEventListener('keydown', function(event) { if (event.key === 'Escape') { const modal = document.getElementById('myModal'); if (modal.style.display === 'block') { modal.style.display = 'none'; } } });
This listener checks for the 'Escape' key and closes the modal if it is open.
Here’s a summary of what we've accomplished in this step:
With JavaScript added, your photo gallery is now fully interactive, allowing users to filter images, click to view images in detail, and interact smoothly with the gallery interface.

Step 5: Review and Debug

With the HTML structure, CSS styling, and JavaScript interactivity in place, it's time to thoroughly review your interactive photo gallery and prepare it for public viewing.
i. Testing Across Different Browsers and Devices
Start by testing your photo gallery across various browsers (like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) and devices (desktops, tablets, and smartphones):
ii. Debugging Common Issues
Address common issues that might arise during testing:
iii. Code Validation

2024.06.09 18:09 NakiriArisu Alloy Origins Core - Problem

My keyboard is 9 months old now. Some of the keys are not responding. You have to press it two or three, sometimes even six or seven for it to register. This usually happen to the Function Keys and the Caps Lock. Lately, the letter P and M is also doing it as well. Tried reseting it to factory settings and updating the firmware, still no luck. Tried cleaning it and blowing air inside the switches as well. Blowing air into it did help, but the issue will come back eventually. Tried looking online for the same issue, no luck on that. Warranty is also expired, only 6 months local supplier warranty.
Got any idea on how to fix this?

2024.06.09 17:30 IntrovertMoTown1 My mostly ICUE driven battlestation

My mostly ICUE driven battlestation
My current battlestation in my PC gaming/spare bedroom. I call it my blue is soothing battlestation. I wish my phone's camera was better at accurately recording light. The color is off. Oh well. Most LED and that's most by a WIDE margin, is being run off of Corsair's ICUE. What isn't is the first neon rope above the mini fridge. Little lava lamp under the TV. G 815 keyboard. (How I got low profile fully backlit "pudding" keycaps for it here) G 502 X Plus mouse. Extended mousepad. Wall Hexigons. Wall lights above the black light Tool banner. All other LED including the 2 other lava lamps I modded LED rings into, the 2 desktop lamps under the portable AC. (Those had RGBW LED strips I yanked and replaced with ARGB strips.) As well as the 24v neon rope above the TV. (If any are interested in how to get 12 and 24v products to work off of Corsair's 5v controllers, I did a write up here.) lol I've made soooo many Corsair adapter cables which is actually fairly easy to do and drops the price to around only around a couple bucks per adapter. I'm happy with how things have turned out.
Full PC specs.
Anidees AI Crystal XL Pro case
Z490 Asrock Taichi MOBO
I7 10700K
32GB Crucial 3600 Mhz DDR4
Gigabyte Aorus Master 3080 TI
2 TB Adata M.2
2 TB Kingston M.2
1 TB Samsung Evo SSD
ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card. (lol Yes it's "ancient" but it's still WAY better than the onboard sound despite the MOBO being Asrock's 2020 flagship. It has audiophile quality parts)
240 Arctic Liquid Freezer II AIO
Corsair RM850X PSU
I forget the Chinese brand, 5 inch touch screen HDMI sensor panel.
23 fans in total. 2 120 Arctic. 8 120 Corsair LL and 2 140 QL. 2 little Noctua 60mm on the outside on the empty PCIe slots and over the vertical GPU vents. 3 140 Noctua Chromax. 1 140 Nocuta Redux 1500. The rest are 120 Noctua Redux 1700.
Sound is Sennheiser 598 headphones. Mic is a magnetic attachable Antlion Modmic. (I only stick it on the Senns when I need it.)
Cablemod extensions on the 24 pin and the 2 8 pin EPS.
For the lighting in the PC.
8 Corsair LL and 2 QL
4 400mm Phantek neon strips
6 400mm Airgoo neon strips
Infinity mirror I had made up at Aliexpress. (Was going to be the sound card's backplate but I decided to side mount it instead.)
Thermaltake Pacific R1 RAM cover
Galax AIO vest
3 8 pin Lian Li strimer
Single 12v RGB LED "bubble" GPU brace
And finally, 1 partridge in a pear tree..... :)
Lighting mode running on everything except the fans is Alex Krastev's Aquamarine profile only the colors are modded to blue and white. Fans are running ICUE's pong mode.
These are all my Corsair controllers. 10 of the Lighting Node Pros are mounted outside the PC under the desk. Their power is from an old 650W PSU from an old PC. It was too underpowered for this build so I figured I might as well put it to use. USB is ran to hubs and then to the back of the PC. lol It's suuuuuch a rat's nest down there but it's "managed" enough that you can't see anything unless you lean down there at least. Or at least it was. I have to clean up the back again. I cut a bunch of zip ties off when I recently moved the 2 lava lamps. The jumper needed to fool the PSU into thinking it's getting a case's power signal is ran to a switch I mounted on the desktop. So I don't have to reach down there to turn it off and on.

2024.06.09 16:43 geneticdeadender How to fix my keyboard and mouse combo

I swore I'd never buy another logitech keyboard and mouse but I did and here I am.
Here are my problems.
  1. While in game if I open a menu that allows me to assign a name; I cannot type anything. My keyboard just stops working. But sometimes it will work and I have no idea what is going on.
  2. While playing a game where my letter keys move the camera around the camera will just stop moving. For some reason if I pick the keyboard up and plop it back down it suddenly works again.
  3. Similar to number one, if I minimize a game to go online and write something on a forum like this my keyboard will not work. I have to close the game entirely to access the internet if I want to post a question.
  4. I'm unable to find a user manual for my keyboard and mouse. I found a page that said it had the manual for the keyboard but it's 148 pages and only talks about for five pages and then repeats that in 25 different languages. I'd like to learn what features my keyboard has but I can't find anything. It's just dead ends.
This is a brand new keyboard and mouse. Any advice is appreciated.

2024.06.09 16:12 DiplomatikEmunetey I would really like some small, quality of life features in Windows that really make the difference in day-to-day tasks

These features would really make the difference for me:

2024.06.09 16:00 hericdk ack05 does not recognize the keys via Bluetooth only with the USB adapter plugged in and the app open

Good morning, has anyone had this problem and managed to solve it?
I just bought the ack05, and I was having difficulty configuring it on macos Sonoma 14.1. I don't have a drawing table, I just wanted the keyboard to use simple quick functions in Figma and email like cmd+c and cmd+v.
My macos recognizes it via Bluetooth, but when I connect it only works with the standard keys that are already configured on the device. (and interestingly it recognizes the ack05 as a mouse and not a keyboard)
After a lot of work, I managed to get it to work, but only with the USB adapter plugged in, and the XP Pentablet app open for configuration. I saw here on reddit that this device managed to work without the app open by recording the keys saved in the driver, but it is not saving.
Whenever I remove the USB adapter it goes back to the default configuration.

2024.06.09 15:59 Tickywizzy Help Elka 88 (61key)

Background: My aunt was a musician and played gigs her whole life and when she died left her instruments to my mom. The piano in question has been sitting for at least 20 years. It’s been in its soft case under a bed with no one touching it.
I will probably not use the right terminology here.
My 12 year old son has been interested in playing piano and my mom gave me my aunts old Elka 61 key piano keyboard. I brought it home and plugged it in to make sure it turned on. I know it needs an amp before it can test the sound and make sure all the keys work but I know nothing about this instrument and would love a manual or some advice on using it. My son will be starting piano lessons in August and I would really like to make sure that I have done all the maintenance the keyboard needs to function properly. I did test the keys a bit and there is a resistance to them. I initially thought it had weighted or semi-weighted keys but the very small amount of information i have found online says the keys are not weighted in any way so I’m wondering if i need to oil/grease things because it has sat so long.

2024.06.09 15:57 TropicalOperator When Did Ableton Get Rid of CTRL+Z/Y Hold Function?

Hey people, sorry if this is a dumb question but I have searched high and low (yes, including the manual) and I cannot find if you can hold CTRL+Z/Y to undo/redo multiple times anymore. For context: I used Live 8 for years then upgraded to Live 10 Standard a few years back. Now that I've upgraded to Live 12 Suite since it released, holding CTRL+Z/Y for multiple undo/redo just isn't there. I'm out here spamming Z or Y thirty times. This is baked into my workflow to the point every left CTRL and Z key on every keyboard I've owned for the past decade are the first to break. Maybe this was not a common workflow thing or something and they decided it being locked to single input was better? I guess I can learn to live with it but any help is greatly appreciated.
