2024.05.18 20:40 Ok_Reference_9158 Are my boyfriend and I too young to get engaged?

Some background first. My boyfriend and I , 20f and 20m, have known eachother since 14, been together since 17, and have been living together for about 6 months. We are both very dedicated to our future together. We’ve found good, stable careers and are saving for a down payment on a house. And weve been talking more seriously about marriage.
We have both agreed that we are ready to marry eachother, and don’t want to wait more than a couple years. we do want to wait to get engaged until my boyfriend finishes college (in a month) and we’ve been living together for a year (six months out). He’s begun asking me details about what type of rings I like.
I want to marry him more than anything, I have no doubts about us and our ability to have a happy and healthy family/marriage together. And to be honest, I don’t really see the point in waiting years just because we’re young. But there are outside factors that make me nervous about the idea of marriage, mainly my family’s input.
My family has very mixed opinions on the subject, some are incredibly supportive of us and can’t wait for a wedding. Some are adamantly against it due to our age. My mom, 40f, and stepdad, 42m, are against it. They have expressed to me that they want me to wait until my mid to late 20s before considering marriage. This is due to their own experiences. My stepfather had a failed engagement at 18, and a failed marriage with a different woman at 22. My mother married my abusive father at 20 and was a divorced single mom by 22. They have said that they believe my boyfriend is the one for me, but they have been making it clear since our relationship first became serious that getting married young is not a good idea.
While I am an adult who is capable of making my own decisions. I hold my parent’s opinions at a high regard, and because of that I sometimes do get scared that im too young, trying to rush into a commitment. So, I thought I would come to get some outside advice. Even though my boyfriend and I feel that we are ready, are we too young?

2024.05.18 20:40 Key-Operation-6352 I’m considering outing my double-life to parents

I’m (18M) strongly considering outing the double life I’ve been living to my parents. I’m going through a rough time, in which my ex broke up with me because of mistakes I made, I apologized and tried to get her back, and asked to take her out on a date in 3 months to which she said she’s open to it, but I wrote this poem (about how it’s admirable to love even though heartbreak is common) that I put on my story for her to read (story instead of directly to her because she said she wants to keep her distance), and she had a negative reaction to it given that she removed me from her private instagram. She also was reposting stuff about how niggas ain’t shit and love-bombing. I messed up by even trying to indirectly say how I was feeling to her. I should’ve just kept my distance, but I can’t take back the past. In addition to this, my sister stopped attending meetings, and my parents don’t want me or my sibling to go to her house anymore or keep more than basic contact with her. I’m at a crossroad in which I don’t want to be a part of the religion, but I also don’t want to hurt anymore people I love. I hurt my ex, and I don’t also want to hurt my mom, who feels like she’s basically lost my sister. I know I need a therapist, but I struggle to bring it up to my parents. It hurts, and I feel like I’m losing myself. Losing my ex made me realize that I need to stop being so dependent on others. I felt like she was the only one who understood me, but I was wrong. I feel like just pouring out everything to my parents, but I don’t want to lose them, or make them tighten their grasps on me and try to force me even more to be a JW. I used to rarely cry, but now I cry in the shower often. I feel like I lost one half of my life, and I’m not happy in this half of my life that I’m currently in. It feels like if I got my ex back everything would be alright, but I know that even if she did (not likely), the mindset I currently have isn’t right.

2024.05.18 20:39 model-kurimizumi B1664.2 - British Nationality (Amendment) (Inviolability) Bill - 3rd Reading

British Nationality (Amendment) (Inviolability) Bill

A
B I L L
T O
make British citizenship inviolable and for connected purposes.
BE IT ENACTED by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
1. Amendment of the British Nationality Act 1981
(1) The British Nationality Act 1981 is amended as follows.
(2) After section 40(1) insert—
(1A) Citizenship status is inviolable and may not be deprived by the Crown nor the Secretary of State except to the extent permitted by this section.
(2) Omit section 40(2).
(3) In section 40(4), for "subsection (2)" substitute "subsection (3)".
(4) After section 40(6) insert—
(7) Before making an order under subsections (3) and (6), the Secretary of State must also be satisfied that the person intentionally acted dishonestly in order to gain the citizenship status.
(5) Omit section 40A(2)(b) and (c) section 40A(2).
2. Reinstatement of citizenship
(1) The citizenship status of any person (P) who has previously had their citizenship status deprived under any enactment or power has their citizenship status revived unless either subsection (2) or subsection (3) applies.
(1) The citizenship status of any person (P) who has previously had their citizenship status deprived under any enactment or power has their citizenship status revived unless either subsection (2), subsection (3) or subsection (4) applies.
(1) The citizenship status of any person (P) who has previously had their citizenship status deprived under any enactment or power has their citizenship status revived unless either subsection (2) or subsection (3) applies.
(2) This subsection applies if P's citizenship status was deprived for a reason that remains permitted under the British Nationality Act 1981 as amended by previous enactments and this Act.
(3) This subsection applies if the revival of the citizenship status would result in P losing citizenship of, or residency or other leave to remain in, any country other than the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
(4) The person having had their citizenship revoked for reasons of national security holds citizenship in a country that is a safe and viable alternative.
(5)(4) But if subsection (1) does not apply because of subsection (3) only, P may notify the Secretary of State that they wish to have their citizenship status revived and subsection (3) will not apply on the issuing of such notice.
(6)(5) The effect of revival is that P is treated as if their citizenship status was never deprived.
(7)(6) But this section does not prevent the Secretary of State from subsequently depriving a person of citizenship status that was revived under this Act in accordance with the British Nationality Act 1981.
3. Commencement, extent and short title

(1) Section 1 and this section come into force on the day on which this Act is passed.

(3) This Act extends to England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
(4) This Act may be cited as the British Nationality (Amendment) (Inviolability) Act 2024.
Referenced legislation
This Bill was written by the Right Honourable Duke of the Fenlands OM GCMG KCT CB MVO, on behalf of the Labour and Co-operative Party.
Opening Speech
Deputy Speaker,
Citizenship is, I am sure, something that we all value in this House. It provides a foundation for our great nation. It establishes our duties to one another — to protect each other and to look out for each other. And it provides us with our identity.
Under the current law, it is possible for a citizenship to be deprived if the Secretary of State believes it is "conducive to the public good". There is no requirement other than that. It is only necessary for the Secretary of State to be satisfied of that fact. Therefore, challenging such a decision would be difficult under the traditional Wednesbury unreasonableness formulation.
We have a clear system for dealing with people who fail to meet their duties that citizenship entails. That is the criminal justice system. The aim is to rehabilitate someone so that they can slot back into society and further it rather than work against it.
Citizenship deprivation does not do that. It is the nuclear option. We turn our backs on the person and alienate them, and we encourage them to become even more hostile towards us. We assume that another country will take on the burden of bringing them to justice, to rehabilitate them. But this often doesn't happen, and then we have a dangerous criminal roaming free in the world who now despises us even more. Knowing that does not make me feel safe, Deputy Speaker. I would much rather us leave a door open for those who take a wrong in life to return back to society. To allow for terrorists to be deradicalised. To reduce the risk to every resident of the UK.
One final point, Deputy Speaker. We are also required to prevent people becoming stateless under international law. While the current law does provide some protection against this, the problem is that not every country has a respect for their own domestic law or international law. So while we may believe that a person subject to British citizenship deprivation is entitled to citizenship elsewhere, that country may in fact reject it and the person may not have a good right to appeal it. This would render them de facto stateless. We ought to do everything in our power to prevent that.
I commend this Bill to the House.
This debate will end on Tuesday 21st May at 10pm BST.

2024.05.18 20:36 Deadsea-1993 What if China and USA ended up starting The Great War by launching at the same exact time ?

I always see people say "What if they started it, what if this group started it like, etc". So I believe the grand "Gotcha" for Season 2 will be that Vault-Tec did not start the War because Jaime was not in a Vault when LA got hit and the fact that House would not have missed his chip delivery date had he known the exact time the bombs would fall. I believe Vault-Tec were merely discussing the possibility of starting The War, but they never actually did this.
I believe a huge surprise will be to shown a split screen where China and USA slam the "fire" button that ends up being at the exact same time for two reasons.
A. China lost a lot of ground and they had been desperate for awhile. They refused to backdown from Alaska until their final breath where they eventually lost their hold due to Power Armor being a complete wrecking ball to an old house. These people were brainwashed to never give up and a detail that is often overlooked isn't just the spy espionage stuff from China, but how the Ghoul Submarine Captain from China was actually inside the Boston area and led the attack to send the first bombs inside Boston in 2077. These people were willing to invade more land even after they were crushed in Alaska.
B. The Inflation in United States was unsustainable and everyone was getting ready to lose. Coolant for vehicles was $5,000 a gallon, most people could no longer afford vehicles, the housing market was doomed cause you had to be a millionaire to basically get anything, rich Ceos like Mr. House were part of the 1% and yet their joy ride was coming to an end. If the money runs dry, they lose their lifestyle too. So Vault-Tec were gearing up to invest in a new future where these rich people could invest in a new future.
C. I've not seen anyone else note this but a number of Vaults were not finished before the bombs fell. A few off the top of my head were Vaults 114, 118, and 88 (player dependent Vault, but canon nonetheless). These Vaults were abandoned due to the bombs falling. Why would Vault-Tec sabotage themselves if they actually were the first to pull the trigger ?

2024.05.18 20:36 decoparts Personal Hodling story- Trigger Warning; cancer

It's been a hell of a week.
I've been holding this story to myself for my entire stonks adventure. I've written it up a few times and deleted before I posted it, but I had a few drinks last night and typed it up again, and the return of the hype has me introspective.
I lost my little brother to cancer in the late '90s. Leukemia, or to be more specific cascading organ failure due to the side effects of chemo.
I was a sophomore in college when he died. He was 18.
Growing up, I was a car guy, but he was a console gamer and an artist, a pokemon collector and anime fan. From the time I was in middle school and he was in 5th grade my parents would let us walk together to the mall about 2-1/2 miles away on the weekends or during school breaks. We were supposed to stick together, but we'd usually split up and hang out with our friends.
Our usual spot to meet up for the walk home was GameStop. It was his favorite place to go. I'm pretty sure there were a lot of times he just hung out there for a few hours browsing games and playing demos. The cashiers knew him by name.
After spending the afternoon at the mall we'd meet up at GameStop, grab a slice or two for dinner at Sbarro's in the food court, and walk home before it got TOO dark out. A lot of times we'd swing over to Blockbuster across from the mall if it was summer and we still had light. When my parents were having a hard time financially I'd use some of the money I got from mowing lawns and working at the gas station and tell him it was our allowance from mom. I'm not sure if he ever caught on.
"I'll meet you at GameStop at 6". I can't even imagine how many times I said that. He liked to talk with hands, so a lot of times I'd end up holding his games as well as my bag with a model car from Kay-Bee or some Testors model paint from the Hobby store, sometimes a Lambo poster or supermodel poster or techno-junk trinket from Hot Topic. He'd usually want to see what I got, and then he would ramble all the way home about some new game he was excited about, or tips he got on how to beat the most recent Nintendo game we had.
He was a little bit of a budding entrepreneur- he'd reserve every game they released and sell the ones he didn't want to his friends at school. He really loved drawing, especially anime, and we found out later he was also supplementing his income drawing titty pics for his friends for a few bucks. Good Lord, the fallout from that!
I was in college out of state when he got sick. The summer after my Freshman year. I ditched my summer internship before it started and came home to be a bone marrow donor. By the time fall semester rolled around it seemed like he was getting better. When I came home for Christmas break I got to take him to GameStop in the mall to spend his giftcards and the cash he got. He was in a mask (way before Covid) because his immune system wasn't working right but he wanted to go in person so bad that my parents gave the OK. It was the last place I went with him that wasn't the hospital. The last time I had a meaningful conversation with him was on the drive back from the mall. We talked about where he wanted to go to college, about how he felt about graduating high school next year, and about the girl he liked. We drove around aimlessly for a while talking before we finally headed home.
I went back to college a few days later. Worked a summer internship away from home that year and then started my Sophomore year. Just before Thanksgiving, he suddenly got very sick and went into a coma, which he never came out of. We never did get a satisfactory explanation for it, just "these things sometimes happen after chemo."
I stumbled across the DFV saga on the WaSaBi sub in the early days of the sneeze and it set off something in me. It was a perfect storm of emotions reading through the DD and stories- Not only were these Hedgie bastards going after my little bro's favorite hangout, there was also the same flavor of corruption that we all gagged on in the '08 housing crisis. All the soulless corporate raiding and underhanded crap, all the sleaze and outright cheating.
I bought in with all the cash I could afford to lose. I haven't sold. I used to have other hobbies but now I buy GME and shop at my local GameStop stores. I have found a few things I enjoy, and I have kids to shop for, so I plan to support as best I can for a long time to come.
Here's what I don't think the Hedgies got at first, maybe they still can't comprehend. For some of us Apes, maybe even a majority, it isn't really just about the money. I think for maybe a whole a lot of us, it's not about the money at all anymore, even if it started out that way.
And the Hedgies can't win because we are not playing the same game.
I'll keep Hodling for you.
I'll meet you at GameStop, Bro.

2024.05.18 20:32 imsorrybutareyou Dear Kye

Dear Kye,
I tried to message you so many times to get you to open up, and I know you never will. It's not your fault, everything that you've been through, but it is your responsibility to heal from it all.
I've been wanting to have a heart to heart. To listen to everything I know that's on the tip of your lips thar you've never said. But I get nothing from you.
You act cold and distant. A complete 180 from when we met. And since you will never hear me out, or let me say it, you've completely ruined me.
So here's all of the things I've never gotten to say to you, that I wish I would have said when I first felt you drifting away.
It's not fair how you blame me.
How you make me take all of the responsibility.
You never once thought about how I felt during it all.
You left my Discord chat, and I reacted poorly. I was hurt because I felt like the act of you leaving meant that you didn't care about me. Add in all the unanswered texts and the slow replies, how else was I suppose to feel?
I apologized profusely, but you never took any of the blame or responsibility.
I shouldered your pain and insecurities knowing that what you were going through was hard, but you never tried to meet me even half way.
And the worst part about it all, was that moment isn't even when it started.
At the beginning I told you I wanted to go slow. I was just getting out of a long term relationship, and I really liked you and I didn't want to fuck things up.
Yet 2 weeks in and you were telling me you loved me in French and telling me not to Google it. Not to mention the times I saw you post it and the delete it, as if I wouldn't have seen.
You love bombed me, and maybe I love bombed you back. I didn't want to, but you made it so easy to fall into that pattern.
Sending texts, videos, answering 1,000 questions, getting to know every single intimate detail of our lives in a matter of weeks.
It's why I refused you when you said you wanted to buy a ticket to come see me 2 weeks in.
Because deep down I knew what you were doing, and it was too fast.
We burned bright. Hot. Heavy.
You were everything I wanted.
But you were avoidant of feelings, and blamed me for having walls up.
I was trying to protect myself from loving you more than I already did.
I tried to give you peace.
You pushed me away.
I wrote you poems and love notes. Woke up every morning to tell you that I loved you. I told you how handsome, creative, and amazing you were.
I worshipped the ground that you walked on and I offered you my heart knowing that you were already holding a knife to it.
But I tried to trust you.
You were my twin flame.
My divine counterpart.
I tried to give you all of the time and space that you needed.
I messed up once.
But I was perfect for you, and you know it.
I've let my anger boil.
I've felt it under my skin.
And it only rages the more that you don't acknowledge how you truly felt.
But I also let it all go.
I write it in the best lyrics and poems I've ever written.
That you will never get to hear.
But I will share them with my future partner.
The one I find peace and security in.
The one I feel safe and secure around, because I never did with you.
And I find peace in knowing that one day, when you are on your death bed, surrounded by your wife and kids, the last fucking thought that will go through your mind is about how you wished it was me still be your side.
I will be your last thought. Your last prayer.
In 10 years, when you think you've moved on, you'll pass by somewhere or something and think of me and feel the burden and sadness that you've give to me.
You'll wonder how I am doing.
Because you let everything go.
You let me go.
And I know damn well that you still want me.
You come up in all of my tarot readings about how you still have me on your mind even when you try to move on.
And it will be like that for the rest of your life because you will never face your emotions or your feelings.
You try to avoid it all.
But you cant.
And it will catch up to you.
In a few months. In a few years. In 10 years.
I will always be there.
On your mind.
And with that brings peace to know that you will always hurt in the way you've hurt me.
The nights I spent aching to just rot away, wishing for death because it felt more peaceful.
The months I've spent crying wondering what I did so wrong, knowing damn well it was nothing that I did.
The anger that I let boil under my skin until I thought it would melt off.
I've felt my pain.
And I've moved on.
But you will never move on.
That is your curse.
And I'll make sure of it.
Yours truly, 'Persephone'

2024.05.18 20:30 Ultim8_Lifeform Featuring the Penguins of Madagascar! (Madagascar)

The Penguins of Madagascar

"Just smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave."

The Penguins of Madagascar are four ordinary penguins turned secret commando team. Born in the frozen wasteland that is Antarctica, Skipper, Kowalski, and Rico spent their childhood in boredom, waddling along the ice with seemingly no destination in mind. They were constantly told by the rest of their colony that it was a dangerous world for a penguin, and something so "cute and cuddly" shouldn't take any risks. One day, the group witnessed a lone egg rolling down the snow towards an icy cliff. When they realized no one was going to help it, the three baby penguins leapt into action. They rescued the egg from certain doom, but in the process were separated from the rest of their group, stuck on a lone iceberg and floating towards an unknown future. It was that moment that Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and the new hatching Private, became not only a team, but a family.
Fast forward a few years, and the Penguins of Madagascar have grown into a skilled group of elite commandos, partaking in various missions that have taken them all over the world, from New York to Madagascar to Africa to Europe. Over the course of their dangerous careers they have accumulated a wide variety of friends and allies. These range from the residents of the Central Park Zoo to the members of the spy agency North Wind. However they have also made no shortage of enemies, including Hans the Danish puffin, the Red Squirrel and the maniacal Dr. Blowhole.

Respect Threads

Skipper

"Cute and cuddly, boys. Cute and cuddly."
Skipper is the leader of the group, devising tactics and gives orders. He is calculating, strict, paranoid, short-tempered, stubborn, and has a great disdain for hippies. Skipper's raving paranoia and tendency to view even the most ordinary activities as a military operation, combined with his experience in covert ops, has driven him to prepare for nearly any situation, no matter how bizarre or unlikely. While his antics do tend to alienate other animals outside of his commando team, more often than not his paranoia is proven justified, as he and his team have saved the world on multiple occasions.

Kowalski

"Okay Kowalski, wow me."
"Behold, a portal to times past. The Chronotron!"
"So, its a time machine?"
"Well, yes."
"So why not call it a time machine?"
"Sure, yeah. And while we're at it, let's call the Great Wall a fence, the Mona Lisa a doodle, and Albert Einstein Mr. Smarty Pants!"
Kowalski is the brains of the operation. He is a brilliant inventor, creating a multitude of different inventions and gadgets to help the penguins on their missions. If given enough time, there are few things that he couldn't invent. Unfortunately, most of the time his inventions cause serious trouble for the team, either falling into the wrong hands, turning against Kowalski, or just exploding. Not to mention, despite his intelligence, he cannot read (although he still carries around a clipboard to record drawings of their plans). He tends to over-analyze situations, trying to perfect every minute detail of a plan before he acts. This often causes the team more harm than if he would just act. That being said, he is still an invaluable member of the Penguins. Without him, they would simply be a couple of ordinary penguins that can do flips and karate chop people.

Rico

"B-but that shouldn't have worked! It breaks all known rules of science!"
"And that's why we call Rico a maverick. He makes his own rules."
[BLEH BL-BLAH BL-BLUH BLAH BLEH]
Rico is the group's weapons and explosives specialist who mainly communicates through grunts and squeals. With a stomach that defies reality, Rico swallows a plethora of useful tools and weapons and regurgitates them when needed, including ones that appear to be too large to have been swallowed in the first place. Rico has a few screws loose, so the other Penguins need to keep him on a tight leash lest he lose his mind in a dynamite filled frenzy. That said, Rico's love for explosions and destruction is an asset that Skipper has no problem letting lose on their enemies or any problem that the team may be facing.

Swallowing/Regurgitation
Rico is able to regurgitate whatever Skipper needs as long as he has it locked away in his intestines. As soon as an object, weapon, or tool is needed he can produce it almost instantly.

Private

"Private, options."
"Hello? I'm the options guy!"
"But not when it comes to matters of the heart. That's where young Private here shines."
Private is the emotionally sensitive, British-accented rookie of the Penguins of Madagascar. Though younger and less experienced than the other penguins, he is the most down to earth and compassionate. Private tends to offer simpler, more commonsense solutions in response to Skipper and Kowalski's complex strategies, often in an understated tone while those strategies are falling apart. He also has an affinity for unicorns.

Using the Penguins on WWW

While it may vary from episode to episode, the penguins are all around the same ballpark in stats and skill. They're pretty well rounded, being able to withstand blows that damage stone and metal walls and can dish out those same kinds of hits. On top of that, most have dealt with minor esoteric damage types like heat, electricity, and cold. While they're not too crazy speed wise, they're all capable of aim dodging lasers and can avoid slower projectiles like darts. Combine that with their absurd agility and small size and these four will be extremely difficult to hit for opponents that are on their physical level.
However, it's the areas outside of physical stats that let the penguins fight above their weight class. They're all capable in close quarters combat, with Skipper being the clear standout (though Rico and Private have both shown to be able to hold their own against him under the right conditions). Rico is a walking armory that will give them access to any weapon in their arsenal at any time, Kowalski has plenty of inventions that most opponents won't have resistances too, and Private's hyper cuteness could certainly catch their opponents off guard.
The best way to beat these four is to split them up and fight them individually. They've shown many times that they are far greater than the sum of their parts, engaging in hit and run tactics or using one of their various haxes to battle opponents above their weight class. Kowalski and Private in particular are vulnerable to losing their composures if things aren't going their way in a fight (though I wouldn't exactly call that a strength for Skipper and Rico either).

2024.05.18 20:30 Cookie1107 [WWTBC] Young adult romance I cant find the name of. Please help.

Cant remember this romance books title. Please help!
So I read this book roughly 1-2 years ago on KU (my prev read list isnt showing that far back for some reason 🙄). The book is a young adult romance. FMC is going through a really hard time and a female lawyesocial worker takes her into her home to offer her somewhere safe to stay, she is incredibly supportive of FMC. FMC is incredibly jumpy, has previous trauma and suffers from extremely disturbing nightmares. The female who takes her in has a son of the same age (MMC) and he is NOT happy about the new house guest, resulting in him behaving horribly towards her. MMC soon realises that FMC isnt as bad as he has made her out to be and through time holds her when she has a nightmare, after a while he is the one who can calm her and make her feel safe resulting in a romance. Im unsure about the rest of the story but I know both main characters are still in school and at soke point the FMC is gifted a car by the lawyesocial worker and MMC. MMC also plays sports. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.18 20:29 metal_meow I made book clasps

I'm pretty proud of myself. Lol They are not perfect, but I had a lot of enjoyment making them and this whole book. The book has little defects and you can definitely tell its a handmade item and I think that kind of adds to the whole heirloom quality of this piece. The imperfections give it character, as my father would say. It's a fill in cook book I plan to use and maybe one day my kid will appreciate it when I'm gone. That's the hope for it anyway. Cooking is definitely a love language for me. I think creating in general is. It can hold 300 recipes and includes a table of contents and numbered pages. I may go back in and tip in decorative divider pages at some point to give it sections. (Appetizers, desserts etc..) Note, the little drawings in it are not mine, I found them on the interwebs and they matched what I was going for, they are not my design and I can't take credit for the beautiful imagery in this book. Overall, I absolutely love it. It's a wonderful feeling when you can translate a vision in your mind into a physical form.
I tried to post the photos here directly, however it would not allow me to, the images would not save. I have included a link to them below. I apologize for the extra leg work in that regard.

2024.05.18 20:29 thirdMindflayer Part 2: this time with characters chosen by popular demand!

Part 2: this time with characters chosen by popular demand!
1: I really wanted a move where HC summons his car, but there’s no transparent car png on Dustloop. Instead, I wanted something simple that expands on Chaos’ pressure and is, naturally, hard to execute. Introducing: HC Guile knee! It’s unsafe on block, but that’s never stopped Chaos before. If you shoot the opponent after the move you have enough time to go for j.p, double jump, or a grounded option if you’re feeling tricky.
2: If I’m being honest, I partially chose this because I thought it’d be really funny to make Gio’s sweep bigger. Don’t let “projectile,” scare you away, this is a neutral tool to make sweep safer if you have meter, without having to spend it. Oh, and did I mention that at full tension, this also catches IAD?
3: Faust is supposed to be random, so it makes sense that sometimes item toss will backfire, but often it’s just out of your control when you pull horn against the Asuka instead of a get-in option. This buff gives Faust a new pressure tool, a new combo tool, and bit more control over his items without making them feel not random and without making him too powerful. Also, be careful not to suck in bombs.
4: A problem I see with Testament sometimes is that it can be hard to land stain without pressure or oki even though it has lots of applications for zoning. Nails gives a skillful way to open up new combo routes and helps Testament with their keep-away game. Also, the execution is just there because I thought it was cool— let’s be real, if you’ve blocked nine specials in a row and Testament hasn’t even blocked once, you’re dying anyway.
Just like last time, criticism and/or recommendations would be awesome! Thanks!

2024.05.18 20:29 Melior30 Based on my situation, should I attend Georgetown MSF or UCLA MFE? Should I pursue a "traditional" finance role, or a more quantitative one?

I'm completely lost and need lots of guidance. Below is a very detailed background of my academics and career so far, and I would greatly appreciate any guidance that you can provide me. If this post is too long for you to read, please let me know, and I will reply with a much shorter, tl;dr version:
Background: I recently graduated from a state school that is considered to be a "semi-to-non-target" within the financial industry with dual degrees in computer science and finance. Due to depression and personal issues, my grades during my first two years of undergrad were abominable. However, I was able to get my act together and achieve mostly A's during my final 2 years of undergrad, but this was only enough to raise my final cumulative GPA to a lackluster ~3.3/4.0. My extracurriculars aren't impressive, consisting of one internship at a local business, one internship at a small IB/PE firm, one externship at a mid-sized VC firm, and a few entrepreneurial endeavors. I've applied to hundreds of financial firms, from MMs to BBs, and I keep getting rejected, most of the time without even getting an interview. Since graduating in December 2023, I have been unemployed for five months.
Therefore, I have applied to several graduate programs, including various Master of Science in Finance, MSFs, to "reset my GPA" and enhance my prospects in the industry, as well as several Master of Financial Engineering, MFEs, to not only "reset my GPA" and enhance my prospects in the industry, but also immerse myself in the confluence of tech and finance to propel myself into a career in quantitative finance. In my undergraduate education, I obtained dual degrees in finance and computer science but did not receive an education that combined these two disciplines. Just to be clear, I would be happy with any role in the financial industry, whether it be consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or a more quantitative role, but I seem to keep getting rejected everywhere.
I recently took the GMAT Focus, achieving a score of 715 (99th percentile), and the GRE, scoring 337/340 (Q: 170/170, V: 167/170). Regarding the MSF programs I applied to, I was accepted by Georgetown and Villanova, rejected by Vanderbilt, and am awaiting a decision from UT Austin. As for the MFEs, I was turned down by Carnegie Mellon and Berkeley, am waiting to hear from Columbia, and was accepted by UCLA.
Of the schools I've been accepted into, I'm still trying to decide between UCLA's Master of Financial Engineering program and Georgetown's Master of Science in Finance program. My decision hinges on whether I want to follow a more traditional financial industry career path, such as investment banking, private equity, venture capital, consulting, etc., or opt for a more quantitative role. Despite being proficient in programming and holding a CS degree, all my internships have been in finance, and I have yet to apply my CS and quantitative skills in a practical internship setting. Currently, I'm inclined to choose UCLA, and I aspire to become a Quant someday. However, my connections in that sector are limited, and I'm uncertain if I would prefer being a Quant to a traditional finance role.
Based on my situation, should I choose UCLA MFE or Georgetown MSF? UCLA's MFE would provide me with a more technical, quantitative education where I'd learn much more, whereas I probably learned everything in the Georgetown MSF curriculum during my undergraduate studies as a finance major (although one could argue that this would be a reason for choosing Georgetown since I would be more likely to achieve easy A's). Georgetown MSF is remote, while UCLA MFE is in-person. UCLA MFE has a far lower acceptance rate (Georgetown MSF is far easier to get into than Georgetown undergrad, I've heard the former accepts almost everyone). UCLA seems more prestigious. Which of these two schools has a higher placement rate within the financial industry?
At first, UCLA might seem like the obvious choice, but there are two factors that complicate this decision. Firstly, Georgetown is much cheaper. Georgetown is giving me a $40K scholarship, making my total program cost just another $40K. Additionally, the remote option would save me so much money on housing and other expenses. The UCLA program costs $85K in total, and I don't know how much scholarship I will receive yet, but it probably won't be anywhere near as much as Georgetown's. Secondly, although I wouldn't mind living in LA for a temporary 1.5-year program, I would hate to live there long-term. While UCLA might have better placements overall, I believe Georgetown has more placements in NYC than UCLA (correct me if I'm wrong). LA is near the bottom of my list of major US cities I would like to live in long-term, and I would STRONGLY, STRONGLY prefer to reside in NYC.
Secondly, do you think quantitative finance is the right career path for me, or should I pursue a more traditional finance role? If I decide to try to become a Quant, how likely is the UCLA MFE program to get me a Quant role?
Thank you for your time and consideration.

2024.05.18 20:29 AltruisticLimit2249 How to get my bf to canada ASAP? Due to unsafe situation

Sorry to put this here, I just really need advice- How to get my bf to canada as soon as possible ?
Per the title. My boyfriend (18) is from the USA and wants to immigrate to canada as soon as he has his passport and his cats shots up to date, before winter hits- He comes from a VERY abusive house hold and he needs to leave ASAP, as it is very much NOT safe for him. We plan on getting married soon as we can. (Hes 18 I'm 19)
My question is WHAT is the safest and fastest way? Especially with a pet cat? I read up on the different types of immigration to ontario, but I can't figure out whether he should apply for express entry, or if we should wait until we are married and then do sponsorship? CAN he apply for express entry if we PLAN on doing martial sponsorship?? Can we do both?
But i read sponsorship takes longer ☹️ (can be up to 12 months) and the problem is he CANT stay much longer with his parents they are NOT safe to be around-
CAN he cross the border and STAY living with me WHILE we apply for whichever immigration??? Or does he have to stay with his abusive parents while he applies?
How does permanent residence work while he's in Canada? And what does he tell the usa/canada border when he leaves? Can they refuse him entry if he says he is moving to canada permanently?
ALSO the healthcare- IF he's allowed to just leave the USA and apply for stuff IN canada while living with me what about his healthcare? How does he access healthcare while immigrating to ontario?
My concern is him leaving for good (which is gonna be when they are not home because it's safest) and then immigration problems here in Ontario, forcing him to leave back to the USA where he would then be homeless because he CANT go back to his parents once he leaves.
Thanks for reading-

The Ultimate Guide to Buying a House for Sale near Me with Land
The Ultimate Guide to Buying a House for Sale near Me with Land
The Ultimate Manual for Purchasing a Dwelling for Sale close to Me with LandAre you scouting for a new residence with ample outdoor space? Whether you are a first-time homebuyer or aiming to elevate to a property with extra land, there are numerous aspects to contemplate while seeking the perfect house for sale in your vicinity. From establishing your budget to grasping local zoning laws, securing the right property with land necessitates meticulous planning and assessment. In this extensive handbook, we will guide you through the complete process of acquiring a residence for sale in your area with land. We will encompass everything from investigating the local market to enlisting a real estate agent, bargaining the purchase agreement, and ultimately, sealing the deal. By the conclusion of this guide, you will possess all the tools and information you need to make a well-informed choice when acquiring a dwelling with land.Comprehending Your Requirements and BudgetThe initial stage in purchasing a house with land is to define your requirements and budget. How much outdoor space do you necessitate? Do you have any distinct aspirations for the land, such as gardening, raising animals, or constructing additional structures? Comprehending your requirements will aid you in narrowing down your exploration and encountering properties that fulfill your prerequisites.Subsequently, it's vital to confirm a budget for your home purchase. Take into consideration your present financial position, including your income, savings, and any debt. Additionally, consider the continuing expenses associated with possessing a property with land, such as maintenance, utilities, and property taxes. By possessing a lucid understanding of your budget, you can sidestep overspending and assure that the property you opt for is financially sustainable for the long haul.Exploring the Local MarketOnce you have a lucid notion of your requirements and budget, it's time to commence investigating the local real estate market. Seek out properties for sale nearby that correspond to your criteria, encompassing the quantity of land, the type of property, and the location. Websites like Zillow, Realtor.com, and Trulia are exceptional resources for discovering homes with land for sale in your vicinity.Furthermore to online listings, contemplate collaborating with a local real estate agent who holds expertise in properties featuring land. An informed agent can furnish valuable insights into the market, assist you in identifying potential properties, and guide you through the purchasing process. While researching the local market, consider the subsequent aspects:• Property Prices: What is the average cost of homes with land in your desired locality? • Property Taxes: What are the property tax rates in the area, and how might these affect your budget? • Zoning Laws: Are there any limitations on how the land can be utilized, such as agricultural zoning or conservation easements? • Local Amenities: What amenities are accessible in the area, such as schools, shopping, and recreational facilities?By meticulously investigating the local market, you can amass a better understanding of the available choices and make an informed decision when procuring a house with land.Getting Pre-Approved for a MortgageBefore you commence shopping for a house with land, it's essential to obtain pre-approval for a mortgage. Pre-approval entails meeting with a lender to ascertain how much you can afford to borrow based on your income, credit history, and other financial factors. By obtaining pre-approval, you can signify to sellers that you are a sincere and qualified buyer, which can furnish you with an edge in a competitive market. To secure pre-approval for a mortgage, you will need to furnish the following documents to your lender:• Proof of Income: Pay stubs, W-2 forms, and tax returns • Proof of Assets: Bank statements, retirement account statements, and any other assets • Employment Verification: Contact information for your employer and any other sources of income • Credit History: Information about your credit score and any outstanding debtsOnce you have been pre-approved for a mortgage, you will receive a letter from your lender stating the amount for which you are approved. This letter can be included with your offers on properties to demonstrate to sellers that you are financially capable of acquiring the home.Enlisting a Real Estate AgentWhen purchasing a house with land, having an informed and seasoned real estate agent on your side is crucial. A reputable agent can aid you in navigating the local market, locating properties that fulfill your criteria, and negotiating the best feasible deal. When selecting a real estate agent, contemplate the following aspects:• Experience: Seek an agent with experience in purchasing and selling properties with land in your preferred area. • Knowledge: A good agent should possess a thorough understanding of local zoning laws, property values, and market trends. • Reputation: Read reviews and solicit recommendations to find an agent with a solid reputation and track record of success. • Communication: Select an agent who is responsive and attentive to your needs throughout the purchasing process.Meeting with potential agents and discussing your requirements and goals can aid you in finding the right match for your home search. Once you have elected an agent, they can assist you in identifying potential properties, scheduling showings, and providing valuable guidance as you navigate the purchasing process.Discovering the Right Property with LandWith a clear understanding of your requirements, budget, and the local market, it's time to commence seeking the right property with land. Your real estate agent can aid you in identifying potential residences that match your criteria and scheduling showings so you can tour the properties in person. While searching for the right property with land, contemplate the subsequent aspects:• Location: Is the property in a sought-after area? What amenities are nearby, and what is the overall quality of life in the neighborhood? • Land Size: Does the property possess the quantity of land you desire, and is the land suitable for your intended use? • Property Features: What is the condition of the home and any outbuildings on the property? Are there any unique features or amenities that make the property stand out? • Zoning and Restrictions: Are there any zoning laws or restrictions that may impact how you can utilize the land? While touring potential properties, take note of any features or issues that catch your attention. Pay attention to the condition of the home, the quality of the land, and any potential maintenance or improvement needs. Retain an open mind and be patient as you hunt for the right property, as discovering the perfect home with land may take time.Negotiating the Purchase AgreementOnce you have pinpointed a property with land that you are interested in acquiring, the next step is to negotiate a purchase agreement with the seller. Your real estate agent can render valuable assistance in this process, aiding you in determining a fair offer price, incorporating any contingencies, and bargaining with the seller on your behalf. While negotiating the purchase agreement for a house with land, contemplate the subsequent aspects:• Offer Price: What is a fair price to offer for the property, based on the local market and the condition of the home and land? • Contingencies: Are there any contingencies you would like to include in the purchase agreement, such as a home inspection or appraisal? • Closing Date: When would you like to close on the property, and do you need to consider any specific timing aspects?Your property specialist can assist you in drafting and submitting the purchase agreement to the seller's representative. If the seller agrees to your proposal, the purchase agreement becomes a legally binding contract, outlining the terms and conditions of the sale.Conducting Thorough InvestigationOnce the purchase agreement is accepted, it's time to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the property. A thorough investigation involves a detailed inspection of the home and land, reviewing relevant documents, and ensuring that there are no issues that would impact your decision to purchase the property. As part of the investigation process, consider the following actions:• Home Examination: Enlist a certified home examiner to conduct a thorough inspection of the property, including the home and any additional structures. The examiner will identify any potential issues with the property, such as structural deficiencies, plumbing problems, or electrical issues. • Land Mapping: Consider hiring a surveyor to perform a survey of the property and verify the boundaries and acreage of the land. This will ensure that the property lines are accurate, and you are informed of any trespasses or easements. • Title Investigation: Initiate a title investigation to ensure the property has a clear title and that there are no pending liens or other issues that could affect the sale. • Zoning and Permits: Research local zoning regulations and permits to ensure the property can be utilized for your intended purposes and that there are no outstanding infractions or issues.By conducting a thorough investigation of the property, you can identify any potential issues that may influence your decision to proceed with the purchase. If any issues are identified, your property specialist can assist you in negotiating with the seller to address them or potentially recalibrate the terms of the purchase agreement.Managing the Closing ProcedureOnce you have completed the investigation of the property and are content with the results, it's time to manage the closing procedure. The closing procedure involves concluding the sale of the property, signing the necessary legal documents, and transferring ownership from the seller to you, the buyer. The closing procedure typically includes the following steps:• Finalizing Financing: Provide any required documentation to your lender to finalize the mortgage approval process and secure the necessary financing for the purchase. • Reviewing Closing Papers: Collaborate with your property specialist and legal counsel to review all closing documents, including the settlement statement, purchase agreement, and any other legal documents related to the sale. • Completing Final Inspections: Undertake a final walk-through of the property to ensure that any repairs or agreed-upon improvements have been completed to your satisfaction. • Signing Documents: Attend the closing appointment and sign all necessary legal documents, including the mortgage loan documents and the deed of trust. • Transferring Ownership: Once all documents are signed and any required payments have been made, the property ownership will be transferred from the seller to you, and you will receive the keys to your new home with land.Following the completion of the closing procedure, the property is officially yours, and you can initiate the process of moving in and personalizing the property as you desire.Property Ownership with LandCongratulations! You have successfully acquired a residence with land near you. Now that the purchasing process is finalized, you can commence enjoying your new property and customizing it to your preferences. Whether you intend to start a garden, raise livestock, or simply relish the additional space, owning a home with land presents numerous opportunities for enjoyment and satisfaction. As a property owner, it's crucial to stay informed about ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the property. Regular maintenance of the home and land, including mowing, landscaping, and repairs, will help ensure that the property retains its value and remains a source of pride and enjoyment for years to come.If you have any inquiries or concerns about owning a property with land, consider contacting local resources, such as gardening clubs, agricultural extension services, or land management organizations. These resources can offer valuable guidance on caring for your land and making the most of the property. To sum up, purchasing a residence with land near you can be a gratifying and enriching experience. By following the steps outlined in this guide, including understanding your needs and budget, researching the local market, getting pre-approved for a mortgage, enlisting a property specialist, finding the right property with land, negotiating the purchase agreement, conducting a thorough investigation, and managing the closing procedure, you can successfully acquire a home that fulfills your requirements and provides ample outdoor space for enjoyment and fulfillment. 2024.05.18 20:19 treecounselor Lost headphones with AirTag?

tldr; headphones with AirTag went from my Polaris seat to someone’s house.
Perhaps a dumb question. Left a nice set of headphones with an AirTag on them after a flight from SFO-ICN in Polaris. Turns out AirTags don’t work in Korea, so didn’t realize until I’d already passed through customs. Filed the standard lost and found report, wasn’t optimistic as our next leg was GMP-HND (i.e., not ICN).
Miraculously, a few days later the AirTag went live: back in San Francisco! It is now sitting at someone’s house 30 minutes from the airport and consistently moves back to the same house.
Can anyone provide some we “normally we do X” commentary and/or a likely sequence of how this happened? Did a subsequent passenger grab it? Won’t share the address/dox, but seems unlikely to be flying business class based on the neighborhood.
At this point, more interested in justice than getting them back … if someone was willing to grab these, it’s unlikely to be the first or last time.
Thanks in advance!
