Hi, there was a fly in my room today. I have a lot of things in my room like the open bar soaps I use in the shower, my combs, my computeipad and there was a fly in my room. I don’t know if I should clean everything in case it touched my things or not. I didn’t see the fly touch my things, only my curtain and hanger that I don’t use. But what if it was on top of my lotion, my Vaseline (which is open because I feel my hands will get dirty if I open it myself), hair conditioner, my soaps, my combs, my iPad, my pillows. Then everything would be dirty and then I would get dirty but the worst part is I don’t know what the fly has touched. So what do I do? This is gonna be a long one, hope you can read my amazing ideas because I’m so cool.
Problem: I have two big problems with the game aside from the current events. I sincerely believe the fixes people ask for and what I’m gonna talk about here would truly make this game perfect and set the bar for all the games in the future. The two main issues are simple; stratagem USAGE is underpowered and there is not enough dynamic gameplay.
Solution: Add side missions that affect stratagem usage and teamwork across the PLANET.
Stratagems: Stratagems are somewhat lacking due to that the game denotes your strats on random difficulties causing 50% cooldowns, increased arrival time, etc. Not only that, but they are also tough from the get go seeing as you can only bring 4 (unless we have the free add on, which is an amazing idea that should happen more often).
Fix for limitations and dynamic battlefields in one fell swoop: Add side objectives that give the team a free stratagem. Examples below 👇: Eagles: a hanger bay is added to the level with a small jet. Inside is a fair amount of bugs surrounding a supply closet the pilot is hiding in. Rescuing them enables two free eagle stratagems for use similar to the SEAF artillery. Orbitals: A big dish that needs to be aligned to a weaponized satellite. Connecting offers X amount of (blank) orbital strikes, team use obviously. Resupply: A hanger similar to the one for the eagle strats. This one is holding some remainders of supplies of weapons and ammo. Interfacing with the terminal can enable the players to have 4 drones bring out resupply yellow boxes to them. ALTERNATIVELY the players can have the drones leave the map and another set of divers in another mission will receive them. This adds an extra layer of macro teamwork the game is severely lacking in.
Fix for stratagem debuffs: Dont. It’s stupid.
An alternate fix for this debuff should be that the enemy gets a new type of artillery (bugs and bots) and if that artillery isn’t taken care of early. It can shoot down a players destroyer, causing that player to lose all non team stratagems.
These things would add side missions that affect gameplay, and allow players to have an edge. Thanks for coming.

boy oh boy do you really cut out a lot of the side plot like penny, rooster drama.
In Universe #2, Iceman didn't make #1 in Top Gun; he made #2. Maverick made #1 in the class of 1986.
In 2022, we see Iceman kiss his wife goodbye as he leaves his house in the suburbs. He gets in his car and drives to the experimental aircraft testing base.
Iceman arrives and steps out of his car, walking to the hangar with the Darkstar plane, greeted by Hondo.
Hondo informs Iceman that Admiral Cain is going to shut them down for underperforming and shuffling money to this drone program.
We see Iceman say they're going to get the plane to Mach 10.
Iceman does the pre-flight check-up, puts on the suit, and walks to the Darkstar to prep it for launch.
The Darkstar takes off. Admiral Cain arrives and asks what the hell is going on.
Iceman puts the Darkstar through her paces and eventually hits Mach 10. Unlike Maverick, he doesn't go past it and throttles down after hitting Mach 10, bringing her back to base.
After landing, he is escorted by shore patrol to Admiral Cain's office.
At Cain's office, he reads out Iceman's record: citations, 38 years of service, combat medals, only man to shoot down 2 enemy planes in 40 years, distinguished.
"Yet you can’t get a promotion, you won’t retire, and despite your best efforts, you refuse to die. You should be at least a 4-star admiral by now, if not a senator. Yet here you are: Captain. Why is that?" Cain questions.
Iceman just bluntly says he likes flying.
Cain says that the future is with unmanned drones and Iceman's kind is headed to extinction. Cain received a call from upstairs from Iceman's guardian angel and that he's to be transferred to Top Gun.
Cain dismisses Iceman.
Iceman then leaves and gets in his car and drives to North Island.
We see Iceman arrive at Top Gun. He walks through the lobby and on the wall, he sees a portrait of 4-star Admiral Pete Mitchell, Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet, along with a photo of Iceman and Maverick shaking hands on the hanger after that eventful mission in the Indian Ocean.
We see Iceman meet and greet Rear Admiral Bates aka Warlock and 3-star Admiral Beau Simpson, Air Boss aka Cyclone. They trade quick pleasantries before going over the mission: unsanctioned uranium enrichment plant built in violation of a multilateral NATO treaty.
Iceman goes through a rundown of what would need to be done with the F18s and precision-guided laser bombs.
Iceman assumes he'll be the one to fly the mission but Simpson tells him he's here to teach not actually fly the mission.
Simpson shows Iceman the pool of Top Gun grads that will be participating in the mission.
Iceman is confused.
Simpson tells Iceman that Iceman is only here at the request of Admiral Mitchell someone that Simpson admires and Mitchell believes Iceman has something to still offer the navy, what that is Simpson can't see it.
Iceman takes the job.
Iceman is not much of a drinker so he doesn't go to the bar and is home enjoying a glass of ice-cold water with his wife.
So next day, Iceman drives to the Top Gun school for evaluation and review of the candidates.
The 12 pilots are introduced to Admiral Bates and Bates says with the new 5th generation fighters the USAF and the USN no longer have total air superiority.
Six of them will be chosen and 6 will be in reserve.
Bates introduces the 12 pilots to Captain Tom Iceman Kazansky, one of the finest pilots that Top Gun ever produced.
Iceman says he will see what each one of them can do because it's all about the pilot.
They run through the fighter maneuvers. Iceman tests them and schools all of them. The only one to even give Iceman any kind of trouble was Hangman but Hangman also is no match for Iceman. They all have to do 200 pushups: Phoenix, Bob, Payback, Fanboy, Hangman, Coyote, Hammer, Fritz, Halo, Yale, Harvard, Omaha.
Hangman and Coyote look at pictures of old Top Gun class graduates and see a picture of Iceman with Maverick.
This is the second day and they actually run through the drills of the bombing mission.
Phase one of the mission will be a low-level ingress attacking in two-plane teams.
You’ll fly along this narrow canyon to your target.
Radar-guided surface-to-air missiles defend the area.
These SAMs, they’re lethal.
But they were designed to protect the skies above, not the canyon below.
That’s because the enemy knows no one is insane enough to try and fly below them.
That’s exactly what I’m gonna train you to do.
On the day, your altitude will be 100 feet maximum.
You exceed this altitude…
[Radar beeping] Radar will spot you and you’re dead.
[Beeping intensifies]
Your airspeed will be 660 knots minimum.
Time to target: Two and a half minutes.
That’s because fifth-generation fighters wait at an air base nearby.

Admiral Mitchell's aide-de-camp opens the door for Kazansky.

Hello everyone! New here. Reading this page has been really helpful for me and I appreciate everyone who has shared their experiences. I finally made a Reddit account so I could participate and share my experience instead of just lurking.
1st shot: 5/3/2024 33F SW: 222 CW: 217 Height: 5’ 5” Dress size: 14/16 Goal dress size: 8/10
I started my weight loss journey on 1/1/2024. I am getting married this year and that has been my main motivator to finally lose weight. My gym routine includes strength training 4-5 days a week (45 minutes) and cardio 3 days a week (30 minutes). I also try to get 150+ grams of protein daily and have stayed in a 500 calorie deficit. Before this, I had never stepped foot in a gym and had lost weight in very unhealthy ways (think severe calorie restriction, no understanding of nutrition).
I have a goal dress size instead of goal weight because the women in my family tend to weigh more than they appear.
With my workout routine, by mid-April I had only lost 3lbs but my waist measured 1inch less. I also struggle with hormonal imbalances and take antidepressants that make it difficult to lose weight. During my April medication check, my doctor discussed weight loss medications with me and prescribed Zepbound. My main concern during this discussion was potential muscle loss and she told me that my gym routine and diet would reduce this outcome.
Week 1:
My first dose of 2.5mg was on a Friday at 4pm and I felt fine all day. The next morning I woke up with full body aches, nausea, no appetite, and very fatigued. My lymph nodes were inflamed and tender to the touch. I used arnica gel for the body aches and drank a ton of water because I was so thirsty. I am still very thirsty every day and have to drink a lot of water. I drank ginger tea and that helped with the nausea. I couldn’t eat very much but since I’m committed to my protein goal for muscle building, I ate simple things like chicken and rice and a couple protein shakes. I probably only reached 90-100g of protein. That entire weekend I took it easy and stayed indoors because I was so fatigued.
Monday I finally felt like myself again. I do not feel hungry at all on this medication but have to force myself to eat protein rich and leafy foods to stick to my diet. I haven’t craved any sweets at all even though I normally have a sweet tooth (chocolate and boba are my weakness). That same day I returned to my normal work day and went to the gym but only felt enough energy to do a little bit of non-weighted core workouts and walked on the treadmill on incline for about 20 minutes.
Tuesday I trained legs but definitely not as heavy as normal and focused more on rep count than adding weight.
Wednesday was upper body day. Again, I could not lift at the same weight I normally do. So focused on rep count at lower weight.
Thursday I rested from the gym but did notice a pattern of feeling “hangry” and being a little short with people when I hadn’t eaten enough. It’s interesting that I don’t have a hunger signal but I will still get the hanger beast when I don’t eat. I have also noticed my anxiety decrease this week despite having a pretty intense work week. On top of reducing sugar cravings, I found myself ordering a mocktail at an open bar event. I typically don’t drink very much as it is, but am not known to turn down a free craft cocktail.
Week 2:
Yesterday (5/10) I took my second shot. I weighed myself and am -5lbs. I couldn’t believe it. My doctor had said not to expect any significant weight loss in the first month at 2.5 so I’m shocked. I can definitely see the difference in my clothes. The normal dress pants I wear to work (no stretch) are looser and my bra is also fitting looser in the cups.
Today I was a little queasy but it went away after lying on my left side. Turns out I just had to burp a few times. This second shot has been way easier than the first.
Since starting Zep, I haven’t had too much stomach discomfort at all. Bowel movements occur mostly daily or second day at worst.
I think this drug is a godsend and I am so happy to finally see results. Excited to continue and track my progress.
On a different note, my gym partner started Wegovy on the same day as I started Zepbound. We have very different body types and different mental health/hormonal struggles but maybe similar diet. She reported -2lbs on her first week. There’s no telling how your body will react to these drugs until you try them, we’re all different.

Okay, so as you can probably guess from the title; I am currently in a very weird situation.
For in-depth context feel free to troll my past questions and posts because my now ex and I's relationship problems have been going on for a while and Reddit and my therapist have been splitting the load 50/50.
TLDR is: boyfriend and I had a fairly fast and chaotic relationship that involved me meeting him while I living overseas. Me loosing my job two days before my visa expired and me leaving and re-entering the country a a tourist. Me moving in with him. Him drunkenly proposing (I told him to ask me in the morning. He didn't). Us kinda of considering a green card marriage (half serious?). Me finally getting kicked out the countey. Us doing 4 months long distance. Him moving to my country. Him hating living here. Him getting a crazy job. Him getting his dream promotion. And then him proceeding to start staying out too late after work (by my standards). Which leads to him refusing to find a common ground, and us breaking up (as of two weeks ago). To which we now live to together.
Oh yeah, and my dog of 12 years passed the day I moved into our new place, my work did three rounds of layoffs (to which I survived) during a nationwide strike). And it would have been our two year anniversary this month. It was a rough couple of years...
Anyway, our relationship is civil, pretty separate, and a little bit weird. I don't totally know where we stand right now with future plans. I originally suggested when we broke up two weeks ago that we do weekly check-ins to see how living together goes and if it's doable.
I should also note he has one year left on his visa and is up in the air about staying in the country or going back to his home.
I'm feeling kinda weird about our living situation at the moment. He told me a couple of days ago that he thinks he will be staying here for two more months before either going back to his country or finding another place to live in our city. He says he wants to save 4000$ in the two month span (which kinda concerns me because he doesn't have the best track record with spending), so he can either buy a plane ticket home and have spending money for when he's back, or for a new place.
He can be wishy washy with plans, so after I kinda responded a bit confused—as in my mind I'm not sure if I can even survive another month of living with him, he kinda flipped the plan. Saying that he would be out in two months unless some "major life stuff happened" which is confusing and vague.
The uncertainty of the plan is making me feel a bit unstable, and part of me wants to ask for a confirmed move out date, and the other half doesn't know if I could make it two months.
We didn't click living together even when we were dating and now being broken up a lot of the "roomie" type habbits you ignore with a partner are slightly more intolerable now that we aren't in a relationship.
To give the bullet's points here's the gist. • I have selfdiagnosed ADHD (trying to get properly diagnosed) and my level of nurospicy needs routine and order to keep a functioning life/house, which we currently don't have. • i want to establish a chore list (a cleans washroom on x day, b vacuums on y day, etc.) • I can be messy and disorganized while my ex is just a bit careless with some things (sticky/wet counters, soaking wet towles, beard hair everywhere, doesn't clean washroom, food on dishes, food on floors). • He doesn't take criticism well (gets defensive, claims to be an adult and not a child, and is hard to talk to about house related stuff, projects his emotions). • He comes home at very late hours (one week into our break up he got home at 7am after being out since soon the day before, half at work and the rest at a coworkers house preparing for a work event the following day) which can disrupt my sleep and schedule, and also still make me worry shit less when he's not home before midnight cus I still kinda care about him. • He currently has under 1000$ in savings and spends most nights after work at the bar and likes to shop so spends more than me each month. Has had to give me money for important things early in the past for fear of spending them himself. • There are some things he does that as a girlfriend I kinda of put up with but as a roommate I just can't deal with rn like he hasn't gone to the dentist in 5 years and smokes so his mouth bleeds sometimes and the toothbrush holder gets gross af, and on multiple occasions he has unplugged the toilet with clothes hangers because a 10$ plunger was too expensive in the past. • This one is gonna sound kinda bad but its the truth. His family is very well off and would fly him home at a moments notice if he asks. He has accepted money from them in the past but generally feels bad after he does so because he wants to be independent. They are lovely and kind people and I will truly miss them. All this to say that if we discussed a two month timeline with a confirmed move out date, and he still hadn't saved up his money his family would make it work.
The ideal resolution for me would be us establishing a chore schedule to make us living together for the next two months functional and as healthy as our current situation allows. We discussed being friends after and I genuinely hope we will be able too. Deep down he's a good guy, we both want very different things right now and I could no longer handle how I felt he was treating me and his priorities with our relationship.
Am I allowed to ask this of him? Is it too much pressure to ask for confirmation on what our nexts steps are if he genuinely can't afford to move out uet? I'm feeling lost and just wanting some insight as to what the fuck I should do.

I am going to preference this that I made this in a insomniac stupor from 4am to 6am.
Also there is a far cheaper solution to this setup if you go down to the bottom in the final notes.
The Orbi system would work for you, but I think just running wires would be a far better solution.
And if you have COAX (TV LINES) running through the property your setup can be done even cheaper.

For background I am a junior network technician, and I have setup networks for family, friends, and enterprise in all kinds of situations from rural to tower apartments.
Personally I would advise you contact a network technician to setup the location for proper coverage and reliability, but in lack of on-site technical support, I will provide a layout you can follow if you wish to continue doing the setup yourself, or have not done the setup already.

Planning
Read through the entire instruction set and make a plan.

Starting off with the Nighthawk® M6 Pro Mobile Router (Mobile Router).
General rule of thumb, the higher the window, the better, so if you have multiple floors, the top floor is the best floor.
Note that electronics also hate getting hot, so the room the Mobile Router is installed should also have cooling.
Cooling is a bigger factor than height.

In this setup the Mobile Router will not be designed to move.
Start Placement Option 1: Install Indoors near Window
Assuming your barn has windows.
Find the window that is closest to the ATnT tower or gets the best signal.
Install the antenna on the window.
You can achieve this with suction cups or tape.
Start Placement Option 2: Install on a wall and do not drill through the wall.
Find the side of the barn that is closest to the ATnT tower or gets the best signal.
Place the antenna up as high as possible on the wall.
Tape it or screw it into place.
Start Placement Option 3: Install on a wall and drill through the wall.
Under the assumption you know how to properly drill holes through walls.
Make sure there is nothing on that can intrude the holes or you may drill into.
Make sure to not have the hole near power lines.
Make sure to not install the antenna near power lines. This may degrade the signal.
Would advise using putty or some other filler when finished.

Find the side of the barn that is closest to the ATnT tower or gets the best signal.
Find a place to put the Mobile Router, drill a hole from the outside big enough to pass the cables from the antenna through close to the location of the Mobile Router.
Install the cable on the outside, feed it inside.
Finish Placement
Route the antenna cables into the Mobile Router.
Ensure the Mobile Router has power and its SIM card installed.
It is advised to have the Mobile Router out side of the direct sunlight for this can degrade performance due to the sun being the sun and can head up the device causing thermal throttling in the device to stay cool, so put it off to the side if possible.
Again make sure the room it is in can stay cool. The closer it is to optimal temperature, the better performant it can be. Note if it gets too cold it can shut down. Also note that the room it is in should not be humid. Humidity can kill electronics, even if sealed.

The plan is to make it used as a data entry point, similar to how a modem would work. We are not going to use it for wireless signals or network processing. It is just going to pass the signal along to the Orbi system.

If you bought the APC batter backup unit, plug it into the backup unit.

Connect to the Mobile Router via your phone via the app or use the touch screen,

use your best intuition for the app.

You can also connect via the web application on your laptop, but note that we are disabling most of the connectivity settings that would allow you to connect via your laptop and possibly the app; hence why I am emphasizing the touch screen method; so chose your setup methods at your own digression. Again I will give instruction via reference to the touch screen in the manual.

99% sure the user manual is incorrect on the setup, but find something that says IP Passthrough and enable it. If you can't find it, I guess set roaming to on.
This will be used to allow for the Orbi to work on its own and not need any funky setup.

There are far more settings to enable/disable to get the most optimal setup, but for now this should be good enough to get everything working.

Pass Internet cable from Mobile Router to Orbi Home Station yellow port.

The setup will be just like any normal router setup, from this point forward.
I’m a bit tired so I am not going to add this section, lmk if you need help on this.

Placement - Orbi Satellites
Place each one with 2 wifi bars on your laptop or phone. 1 bar might not be enough signal and can get wiped out by people walking about.
The Satellites can hop off each other. So let’s say you have one on the far side of the property, it can jump from one satellite to the next to the next and hit home. It does not need a direct path to home.

Final Notes

You can also achieve a cheaper and better result if you just use normal routers like a TP-Link Archer A7 and just put wire everywhere. So one Archer A7 in router mode at the Mobile Router, run a long ethernet cable to the other side of the barn, put another Archer A7 in AP mode. And bobs your uncle you have full coverage.
If you have coax cable (TV CABLE) you can use that instead of the internet cable and use a MOCA converter instead. Less work and hassle if you have COAX running around the property. This is what I use on my property.
I have APC backups on all the routers and AP connections.
During black outs we have a full 23 hours of internet before we go full black out.
Works like a charm and costs a whole lot less than 1.3k.

If you give me a layout of your property, I can advise you on a much more specialized and cheaper option for you put it will take some time for me to draw up.

But ultimately, I would greatly advise having a network technician come out and look at your setup. Any junior technician could do it.

Hey guys so bottom line, I have a ‘21 Scout Bobber 60 that I recently swapped out the stock bars with the 10” Indian Hangers. The clutch and brake cables were too short so I picked up some new ones and installed them. I have been trying to bleed these breaks for the past 5 hours it seems. I’ve pumped the brake, held it in, turned 1/4 inch for 1-2 seconds, back 1/4 inch and release. I’ve tried about three other similar methods and haven’t gotten any tension back on the brake. Wondering if anyone had any similar issues and if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Anybody got pictures of bikes with 6” extended forks with some ape hangers? Specifically 14” apes if possible?

Hey folks, spring is here and bike season is picking up fast. I've seen a lot of posts asking about buying bikes so I thought I'd take some time to put together a quick how to on buying a used bike. What To Look for When Buying a Used Mountain Bike

Facebook Marketplace is full of more lunatics than a Philadelphia prison after the Eagles lose a Superbowl. You shouldn’t trust someone on there when buying a toaster let alone an expensive mountain bike. You’re putting your life on the bars of this bike so I’m going to take you step by step through the main things to look for when buying a used mountain bike.

Main Things to Look at When Buying a Used Mountain Bike

• The Frame
• The Suspension
• The Drivetrain
• The Brakes
• Everything Else

- The Frame -

Lets start with the most important thing first, the bikes frame. We have 3 main types of frames on bikes these days. In order of popularity there’s aluminum alloy, carbon fiber, and steel. The only one you don’t really have to worry about is steel. Steel bikes hold up incredibly well and you’ll be hard pressed to find a used mountain bike with a broken or damaged steel frame so we’re going to focus on the other two.
What to Look For
We’re looking for hairline cracks, dents, chips, and spots that seem suspiciously painted compared to the rest of the bike. Be thorough and take your time, I can bet Steve on Facebook marketplace doesn’t have the best return policy.
Where to Look
Now you know what to look for, lets get a better idea of specific locations to look at for damage on aluminum and carbon bikes.
Aluminum bikes are not as strong as steel but are generally stronger than carbon on most parts of the frame. If you’re looking at an aluminum bike the first places you should inspect are the welds on the bike. Specifically, check the welds on the chain stay, bottom bracket, and head tube (front, back, top and bottom) as these take the brunt of most impacts. If the bike has rear suspension, check the linkage as well. If the welds all look good, take a general look through the frame and see if there are any dents (usually on the down tube and chain stays). Like I said, aluminum bikes tend to be more resilient than carbon so we don’t have to worry about scratches.
Carbon bikes aren’t weak by any means, they do have different weak points compared to alloy though and its important you know what to look at. When looking at a carbon bike, the first things to check out are the chain stays as they love to find sharp rocks on the trail. Next up is the bottom bracket, most carbon bikes have a down tube protector but look for propagation of impact cracks near the bottom of the bike. Now, look over all of the linkages. Not just one or two, all of them. Pay close attention for cracks or chips on the outer and inner parts of all bolt holes. Now check the head tube. Flip the bike over, look all around the head tube but pay close attention to where it meets the down tube again looking for cracks or fractures propagating from the headset.
Summary / TLDR
Steel Bikes: Its fine
Aluminum Bikes: Check the welds for failure, check the chain stays
Carbon Bikes: Check ALL the linkages, check the head/down tube, check the chain stays, look for propagating cracks

- The Suspension -

Suspension is the next part of a bike that tends to get pretty banged up from normal abuse. It can sometimes be tricky to diagnose suspension issues, just look at how many posts on Pinkbike describe symptoms as “whoooshing” “squelching” “rough” or “not exactly feeling right “.
That’s more vague than Chuck on FB Marketplace’s ad for his “Used Mountain bike for sale, has wheels and seat”. I’ll try my best to make this easy and a little more clear for you cause suspension service ain’t cheap.
What to Look For
The easiest thing to start with is just looking for physical damage to the outside of the fork or shock. Start off by look at the stanchions. Suspension works on a thin margin so even small scratches and dents in the stanchions can lead to problems down the road (or should I say trail haha). If the damage is higher up on the stanchion (in a place that doesn't go through the seals often) the risks of it causing damage are much lower. Run your finger nail across any damage you find, if it catches your nail, tell Chuck to take a hundred or two off the bikes price. Next up are the seals. The seals should be sealing, cycle the suspension a few times and check for oil leaking out around the stanchions. All good? Great, now we can get into the vague stuff.
What to Feel For
Suspension should be smooth. Hop on the bike and cycle the suspension. Does it feel consistent throughout its stroke and does it rebound back up fairly smoothly? Hop off the bike, push the suspension down. Do you feel it sticking at the very beginning of the push but then it gets smooth once its compressed a bit? You shouldn’t be feeling any harsh movements, whether its at the top or bottom of the stroke. It also shouldn’t compress completely every time and it shouldn’t bounce you off the bike.
What to Listen For
Listen to the suspension as you compress and decompress it. Suspension makes noise, that’s normal but here’s what you don’t want to hear. Any sort of clanking or knocking noise is usually a sign of loose, defective, or worn internals. Let’s talk about the slurping/squelching because that’s actually a common one. When the suspension is rebounding (extending) listen for a noise that sounds like an annoying child trying to suck the last of his Slurpee through a straw. This is a sign that the rebound circuit needs service and you have oil and air mixing together. This can also appear on compression but remember its a slurping not a swishing, a bit of noise is normal.
Mess With the Dials
Last but not least, make sure the settings work as expected. This is honestly one of the first things I do but it doesn’t apply to everyone so I left for last. If the suspension has rebound and compression settings go between the highest and lowest settings and make sure they operate correctly. If you dial rebound down all the way, you should feel a noticeable BOUNCE when the suspension is coming back up. If you completely lock off compression, significantly more difficult to compress.
Summary / TLDR
Look for scratches on the stanchions and leaking oil
Feel for inconsistent compression and rebound
Listen for knocking or squelching, a nice quiet swish is normal
Test the settings for rebound and compression

- The Drivetrain -

We got the hard stuff out of the way, lets look at some relatively simple things starting with the drivetrains
What to Look For
Check the chain ring for damaged or broken teeth, should be quick and simple, this is pretty rare. Take a look at derailleur for damage, inspecting the cage and the wheels. Derailleurs can take a lot of damage but their hangers can’t I’ll cover this next.
What to Feel For
Hop on the bike and shift those gears, make sure that everything shifts smoothly from top to bottom. Check the highest and lowest gears to make everything engages as expected. Ride in both top and bottom gears for a minute. If the bike doesn’t shift properly, look up how to adjust the barrel screw on the shifter. If this doesn’t seem to helping you’re most likely dealing with a bent derailleur hanger. This is a relatively cheap part so I wouldn’t sweat it unless its hard to find online. Check the cranks and pedals for play. Cranks should not have any wiggle room and they should spin smoothly. Same goes for pedals, I’ve seen A LOT of cross threaded pedals.
Summary / TLDR
Shift through ALL the gears, top to bottom and back make sure it shifts smoothly. Most common issue is the derailleur hanger (cheap easily replaceable).
Check for play in crank, pedals, cassette, etc.

- The Brakes -

Make sure they stop the bike when you pull them. Just kidding, lets get into it.
What to Look For
Check for damage to the cables, there shouldn’t be hard kinks or cuts in the line. For hydraulic brakes, squeeze the levers and make sure there isn’t any fluid leaking. Look at the top around the levers and reservoir, check the bottom near the rotors and the pistons. Look at the rotors, do they have a shiny almost oily look to them? If they do and they don’t stop well the rotors may be damaged due to consistent over heating.
Brakes are generally easier to replace or repair, if you hear a loud squeak or train horn sound when braking, it could just be contaminated pads/rotors and easily resolved. The levers should not pull all the way to the bars, if they do it’s most likely just a lack of oil and quick bleed will resolve that.
Summary / TLDR
This ones short, just read it.

- Everything Else -

There’s a lot of stuff on a bike…
Lets quickly run through the remaining items that are worth a quick once over.

• The Dropper Post (where applicable): Make sure the dropper operates smoothly and easily. If not, look up the model of the dropper, if its a “sealed” unit, that means you can’t service it. A lot of times droppers are just struggling because of dirty seals on the stanchion.
• The Wheels: Make sure there aren’t any broken or missing spokes, spin the wheel, does it wobbly side to side aggressively? That means you need it trued at a shop. Check for dents or cracks in the rim. Some larger dents will mean your wheel won’t be able to hold a tubeless tire
• The Headset: Spin the bars a bit, make sure the headset feels smooth and doesn’t make any harsh noises that would indicate bad bearing

If there's anything you feel I should add to this let me know! All in all, I think it's worth taking a bit of extra time and checking the bike thoroughly before buying it but in the end don't overthink it. Bikes are great and they're made so we can have fun. Asking for suggestions seems to be a common theme on this sub-reddit, so I’ve updated my list of the best dining restaurants on the Cape for 2024.
This is absolutely one subjective opinion, but I like to think it's at least a qualified opinion. Having lived on the Cape for 20+ years, worked in the industry in the past, and dined out around the world for business/pleasure, I have a decent sense of what a stellar restaurant experience should be like.
I've been lucky enough to dine at a number of Michelin Star ranked establishments over the years while traveling. While none on the Cape is going to be earning that honor (especially since it’s only given in a few major cities) I’ve experienced what great can be like enough times to recognize the glimmer of it here at home. With each of these I'm still dreaming about the meal days later and want to go back as soon as possible.

The Best Dining On Cape:

1. Ceraldi (Wellfleet) $$$$
2. Water Street Kitchen (Woods Hole) $$$
3. Twenty Eight Atlantic (Harwich) $$$$ - Kid Friendly
4. The Pheasant (Dennis) $$$ - Kid Friendly
5. La Tacodilla (Dennis) $ - Kid Friendly
6. Ten Yen (Orleans) $$$

These are the only places that make the cut here, as nowhere else I’ve been to quite rises to this amazing level these provide. Yes, the Cape is a big place, but each of these is well worth the drive from Falmouth or P-town.
Changes for 2024:

• Ten Yen moved down a little. Michael still serves the best sushi on the Cape, but they reduced variety by dropping their ala carte nigiri offerings. (-1 consistency/variety - EDIT: Comments mentioned they will likely have more variety once the summer starts, will update!)
• La Tacodilla moved down a little. Still amazing street food, but their open days/hours keep changing (-1 to consistency/variety). Don't let that stop you though, the food is still amazing and an extraordinary value in todays food inflation climate.
• Ocean House moved off to Runners Up. Still one of the better cocktails and dinner views on the Cape, but total meal prices are up, variety is down, and quality is down. They removed the lower priced burgers and flatbreads, limited vegetarian options and no longer have a viable vegan option on the menu; grilled cauliflower is not a meal and egregious for $33! We also had a few quality problems last season. They dropped below my cut off of 45 points to remain on the best list. (-1 to food, -1 to consistency/variety, -1 to value)

Coincidentally, there is something for every budget. Ceraldi deserves the top spot but is a tough reservation to get and expensive with their fixed menu. They also added a delightfully inventive no reservations taken first come communal table menu that was fabulous, and they’re amazing about allergies and accommodating most food restrictions. The others don't have to break the special occasion bank if you pick the right options.
At Ten Yen you can stay under $50 and get a couple of world class sushi rolls and a glass of sake or spend over $200 eating an amazing sushi meal with drinks.
La Tacodilla is the real deal and has 2 for $6 street tacos on Taco Tuesday, as long as you don’t mind waiting an hour+ when they are busy.

Runners Up:

If you can’t get a reservation at the above, there are other very good restaurants around the Cape that are well worth the visit if they have availability. These are all pricey though, so certainly shoot for the ones above first when possible. Note, these are just in alphabetical order.

My Rating Scale:

1. Food: starts with food that is over the top great and changes variety for repeat visits.
2. Service: has to be consistently excellent.
3. Location/Scene: Does it set the terroir for the food, is it nice to be there, do they have a good view, do they maximize the space they have, things like parking, bathroom vibe, etc. For example, La Tacodilla is just a little window in a little house with a fake turf seating area right on 28, but it’s hands down the best street food on the Cape and the location/scene is super appropriate for the food. Cuvee is the opposite, with super high end food but served in a cramped under ventilated room with no outside view, dirt parking lot, and no valet parking.
4. Consistency & Variety: must hold up to greatness over multiple visits. Do they have vegetarian and vegan options? Does the menu or specials change regularly?
5. Cocktails/Wine/Drinks: extra points for being creative and delicious. The head bartenders at Water Street Kitchen take things to another level. Ceraldi’s wine pairings are great, and their homemade soft drink pairing is always inspired for those who don’t drink alcohol. Having an expansive & pricy wine list is less appealing to me than a creative cocktail menu with the bar skill to elevate the craft.
6. Value: how much of the above 5 items do you get per dollar spent.

I keep a spreadsheet with 1-10 rankings for each of these categories for all the top restaurants (and some of the bottom ones as calibration). Here are examples of my rating scale:

Falmouth is overrepresented here as I live mid-cape and gravitate to Water Street Kitchen repeatedly when headed to Falmouth, it’s that good!

Most of these are fine spots, just not close to the caliber of top spots above. For example, Kream n Kone in Dennis is our go to fried food spot, but I wouldn’t go out of the way vs whatever fried seafood spot is closest to you. Some of these I haven’t gone back to in years with good reason. I would love to hear opinions on any that have improved and are worth returning to!

Grabbed some parts from my parts bin, grabbed the FlatIron62 bars from my local co-op (that were brand new for cheap), and stuffed a set of Maxxis Holy Rollers in 2.4 in there. The Holy Rollers are super tight, but I took a round file and a 3/8" drill bit to elongate the right rear dropout so that I could pull the rear axel back further. It works, but it sure is tight. Not sure if I like the bars or not but will give them some time to see if some Surly Sunrise bars are in my future.
New Jagwire cables all around, degreased the chain and freshly hot waxed it, new grease in the headset, switched to a 1" lowrider cable hanger, and some used Shimano BT-M60 levers to keep things sorta original.

So, I typed out this whole ass response in the comments section of PP’s last post, and my guess is that my comment is too long to be a comment, because it won’t let me post it. But, I literally like- just wrote all that…so, I’m not wanting to just hit delete. I know plenty of people have shared their thoughts, and PP you already have plenty to digest…but this is my $0.37 cents input on last night.
First of all u/PPseeds , thanks for asking for the feedback. We know you will listen to it. My hope is that you will take some of the feedback from this thread and share it with Bill, and that you might be the one person he would accept critical feedback from.
First point- see my other comment about the sound issues. Those kinks 100% need to be worked out before doing this again. Don’t believe me? Try and watch it back yourself on a T.V. I had to keep my finger on the volume button for 3hrs either straining to hear or getting my eardrums blasted.
Last night I had the show on the T.V. and I found myself defending Pulte and company to my wife (who has zero idea what’s going on, and couldn’t care less). Every time he made a comment about his money, or Vivek’s money, or giving away money, it was very off-putting to her. I bring up her response because I feel like she was a truly neutral disinvested observer. She was like “who the fuck is this guy?” and I was defending him to my wife.
While I think it’s likely that Vivek was not confirmed until last minute, I am willing to bet there are PPs who may have chosen not to spend their hard earned cash money on travel expenses if they knew that’s what it was going to be due to their own views. So, I’ll bet there were at least a few liberal PP’s at the live event going “how the F did I end up here?”. While I think they should get over it, I think it was a divisive choice. I think it’s nearsighted and /or out of touch of Pulte to have not known that would be the outcome. Anyone associated with the Trump movement will generate a toxic response from at least 25-35% of the people in any given room at any given time. It doesn’t take long in this country to figure that out. That said I agree we need our message in front of people who are in/will be in positions of authority. Rather than never talk to another politician again, I’d rather see RFK at the next one. Libertarian at the one after that. Senators and Reps running for office on both sides of the aisle. Independent candidates who support market reforms. SEC, CFTC and DOJ heads…etc. Vivek is a good public speaker. I agree with 50-75% of what he says. I don’t have to agree with all of it. Gotta love how he shoved his “TWO GENDERS” point in there. He couldn’t help himself.
Michael is a rambling emotional conspiracy theorist, but he’s OUR rambling emotional conspiracy theorist. However, there are now nearly a million eyes on that video this morning. This stuff has got to be a little tighter for something like this with an audience of this magnitude. While he did have some solid stuff prepared, he also had some rambling tangents where he sounded like an angry old man shouting at the moon. Don’t get me wrong, I am also a rambling emotional conspiracy realist, and if Michael and I ever met in a bar I’m sure we’d never shut up. End the Fed, lol.
I personally loved having the Citadel guy Michael Taylor there. I thought his introduction was abrupt. I forget what but someone else was interrupted to introduce him. I thought his input was very insightful, especially surrounding Kenny boy making a Market in Treasuries. Then he just sat there and nobody asked him any more questions. I thought that was a missed opportunity.
Loved having Ian there. I think that was an incredibly smart guest choice. Huge following. Part of the community. Articulate speaker. Stands for truth and justice. Apparently 17 feet tall. Wish we heard more from him. Again I think he got interrupted in his flow as well.
Loved to see Jake admit an incorrect thesis. Especially since so many critics have been saying Jake has never once admitted being wrong about anything. I don’t think that’s true, but now they definitely can’t say that anymore. That was a very public application of the scientific method. Theses can change when presented with new evidence.
It seems to me Pulte struggles to take critical feedback. Any critical feedback to him is “haters/shills, etc”. I am hopeful you can digest some of this and that he will listen to you/ the community.
I hear a lot of people suggesting you abstain from further events until we “win”. I don’t necessarily feel the same way. It could take years more still. This movement needs momentum and eyes on it. My two cents is that you and Pulte need some ground rules on how he’s going to treat you in front of your supporters. He needs to act like he respects what he’s getting from you. A community you worked hard to build. You didn’t give away money to build it. You built it 4hrs a night 5 nights a week by being an incredible moderator and giving people a voice and a platform. I think a lot of us felt for you.
Pulte has a shit ton of followers of his own. But, I don’t think most of them would shell out money to come to something like this, because I think a solid percentage of his followers are waiting and hoping for a Pulte handout. They’re not gonna spend their money.
On Pulte himself. He seemed to be a bit tipsy, imitating/acting like Trump by repeatedly calling Doug Cifu “shitfu”, interrupting people to then forget what he was going to say. Repeatedly saying talking about his money, Vivek’s money, asking about getting donations from Vivek and the community (while insisting he doesn’t need it), people begging for his $,
I think PP show and Pulte get something from each other. People who are saying Pulte needs PP and not the other way around. Well, that’s only half true. Pulte benefits from the enthusiasm of this organically built community that PP worked to build. PP does not get 120k people on a normal livestream, and 1million views by the next morning without Pulte. PP show without Pulte does not have the know how, connections, or financial means to throw a $70k frat party stock rally. PP show without Pulte does not have nearly the sway to get high profile guests. That Pulte meetup without PP if it had just been a PHM shareholders meetup, as he had previously intended before you agreed to come…would have probably been sparsely attended. He’s lucky you threw your hat in the ring with him.
Do you guys remember the absolute backlash early in the days of the GME play, when someone with festival organizer experience tried to organize a meet up in Vegas I think with Trey’s Trades, Matt Kohrs, Masked Investor, and all that whole generation of GME influencers. The backlash in the community was astounding and the event was immediately cancelled. People were paranoid the event would be infiltrated with hedge fund spies stealing our information so they could steal our tendies back later.
TLDR: apparently I’m long winded. Read it if you want. Don’t if you don’t. I love you guys, I love the show, I loved the show last night. I hope you do more, and I hope they keep getting better and better.
Last point. A lot of really great things were very hoaky in their infancy. A great example is Sesame Street. If you have HBO Max just go watch some of Season 1. It’s fucking horrifying. Oscar is Orange. Big Bird’s head is tiny and misproportioned. I know it’s not the same thing, but really it is cuz y’all are a bunch of Muppets.
Edit: I hold a lot of space for grace and empathy and gratitude for the people putting this together, for all the criticisms I lay out. I only say anything because I want to see this movement move forwards and continue gaining momentum and improve. If I didn’t care I’d keep my mouth shut. These guys have to the best of my knowledge, zero experience live streaming public events with multiple microphones, multiple live speakers, a live audience, outdoor ambience, airplane hanger reverb, planes taking off in the background, live streaming to Twitter and YouTube etc. I can talk a lot of shit from my couch but that’s a logistical nightmare for the sound guys and I wouldn’t have wanted to be behind the sound board last night. These will get better as you will learn each time you do one.
Having a clearer schedule of who was presenting what and when would’ve made that much more professional.
Getting the sound issues worked out for live streaming would have been a huge benefit.
All said and done, I think all you guys are doing awesome, you’re putting in tremendous effort, you’re doing something tangible and real, you’re effecting change. You have momentum and attention, both good and bad.
As they say in crypto “Up only”. You guys have so much potential and so much room to grow on events such as this.
