We knew people who filed after us and got approved before us. It’s a daunting process but I am very grateful to this community. Frankly - it was someone else’s post that I feel helped up get our approval.
Someone had posted that they had written to their representative. I wasn’t planning to write to my rep but my USC spouse was convinced me that we should - she had seen how stressed and downbeat I had become. We wrote to our rep in Feb 2024 and received a response from the Rep in March 2024 (1 month later) saying that USCIS has sent it to a field office and action will be taken soon. ~45 days later we got the approval.

Abigail stirred from her daze, what had happened, she could barely remember, the attendee, the crater, the light!

Abigail timidly picked up the meal…it looked like….vegetables, they smelled like them too, but not like wasteland veggies, what few she'd seen but actual clean veggies
“Alien greens, for some reason it's all they'll give us, probably to keep us weaker, easier to grab”
She says snagging an alien carrot off the tray as Abigail looks at her with a mix of confusion and worry

I got a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek premium trim for 32k @ 8.67 interest on a 3 year lease with a warranty and a $580/month payment. My question is after my lease is over and I choose to finance it can someone tell me roughly how much my payment would be if you can? I only ask because my monthly payment is way higher than I wanted however I really like the car and it suites my families needs perfectly so we cut back on expenses and got it due to the lease be $50/months cheaper.
The fiance office guy said the payment will be much cheaper in 3 years so he advised we lease it, let it depreciate a bit in value for a few years, and when the lease is over the payment should be much better on us.

My company is remote first which is awesome. I work from home in the beginning and end of the week and go in a couple days in the middle of the week. For me it was a best of both worlds scenario. I have a reason to leave my house a couple days a week and still have a wfh benefit half the time.
I was interviewing for jobs when I was laid off and I ended up getting this one which is a much better fit for my career goals and I’m grateful for that and lucky to be working. It’s a much more relaxed work space whereas at my last company, if you weren’t overworked and in tears you weren’t working hard enough. In this economy, there aren’t many jobs available in what I want to do. It’s one of those departments that gets leaned down first when money gets tight. So overall I’m grateful.
The only issue is I’m the only person who HAS to go in. It’s optional for others but not for me. In the first two weeks it was okay because my manager was coming in on two of the days I was to work with me. Now that has stopped. We have catered lunch once a week and sometimes one or two people show up but usually that day it’s just me and the CEO. Honestly I’m itching for more work that falls under what you’d expect within my title but most of my meetings are with IT figuring out how to plug in a computer no one shows up to use, or fixing wifi that only I’m connected to. Or ordering a new piece of furniture for the office that the CEO will think makes it feel “less like an office.” And might encourage people to come in. I get here, power through the little bit of work they’ve trained me on and then basically sit in complete silence until the mail arrives, get that, deposit the checks, and then sit in silence again until someone asks me to do something or it hits 5pm.
The main problem for me is I’m someone who hates to be alone. I just enjoy the presence of other people. Even if we aren’t talking it makes me feel safe. I get very depressed when I feel alone. My roommate and I don’t need to be talking all the time, but just knowing she’s in the house is nice but she works nights. So while I don’t see her all the time we usually have breakfast and dinner together before each of us go to work and it’s just enough interaction to feel connected. I know I feel a little more badly right now because my partner and I who I imagined I would spend my life with split up on my first day. I thought throwing myself into the new company and working hard would help but there’s just not an opportunity for that. I basically am alone in office all day long and now have lost my main source of communication. I’m at an age where all my friends are married or engaged and don’t particularly make time for people outside of their relationships. It feels like a lot of my social interactions have gone from being minimal - moderate to minimal - nonexistent.
It’s been 2 months and I’ve started to realize I think they only wanted to hire someone for this position, not because they needed any real help with what I wanted to do but because they needed someone to come sit here and take up space in the office space that they rented. I feel like if they didn’t have this space I wouldn’t have a job and they’d just let my manager remain overwhelmed. In fact, someone I was on a call with today all but confirmed that. They promise to teach me more things but every new meeting just comes with ordering some more office bullshit. I feel horrible on a daily basis. I would love to work from home more but I can tell they’d just let me go if I expressed that. I feel so depressed being here by myself that I spend half the day crying. It’s been a week since another person came in. I don’t know what to do and I’m embarrassed to tell them how badly the loneliness of the office makes me feel. They can’t force the other employees to come in just because I’m sad and alone, but could they at least let me go home if it hits noon and no one has showed up? I just feel like asking anything about my current work schedule will land me back in the job market and I really can’t afford it right now.
I’m starting to feel very worthless. I can’t even really make friends here. Hell, a couple of my friends from my old company have started taking turns working from home and coming to see me for a coffee break once a week. It’s sweet but I can also tell they’re seeing me decline mentally and I feel burdensome.
I don’t know what to do and how to make myself feel better. Any advice appreciated.

This was originally going to be a reply on another post. But I decided to make it it's own topic of discussion. I've recently got up to rank 100 which took awhile since getting into the 80s. I remember when I started out last December there were a lot of high level players in servers (250+). We would get a lot of guidance from these players especially in supporting roles like engineers and support class. Nodes being built was automatically done in the first 5 minutes of the round. Now there are games that have full squads with engineers that do absolutely nothing. I don't even remember the last time I saw a structure being built. It damn near impossible to level up as a support because of this. Now the servers are filled with the the "Gamepass era" players. These people are anywhere from level 50 to 90 at this point. But a lot of us still have no idea what we're doing. All the high level players left because they couldn't have the game all to themselves. These players often have an elitist behavior. That I think is the detriment to this game being in the current state that it is in. To all you level 35 mfs that play engineer. Watch some f-ing videos on how to do build structures or be a rifleman. I'm tired of being the only engineer who built any nodes the entire game. Same thing with squad leaders. Stop being useless and tell your squad what to do. If there are 7 squads some of you are bound to have at least one person with a mic. Another thing is, don't be Comander if you're not ready to do commander things. We're not all going to be General Patton. But at the very least listen and respond to your officers. Officers need to take initiative. If you've ran into the same wild 7 times and died don't do it an eighth time. You can all suck. But at least try to suck together.

Bradley Hospital states that it is the nation's first hospital devoted exclusively to children's and adolescent's Mental Health. On the surface, this looks like a comprehensive, community mental health provider. It is a non-profit, is affiliated with quality colleges, universities and a medical school. Based on the lengthy investigation conducted by the US Attorney for the District of Rhode Island, Bradley Hospital now joins the ranks of the Troubled Teen Industry.

The investigation found that DCYF failed to ensure that children with disabilities were able to access the intensive in-home and community-based services they need, and failed to facilitate prompt discharges from Bradley Hospital to family homes, resulting in extended and unnecessary hospitalization, or risk of future hospitalization, all in violation of federal law, specifically Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Cons/pros based on
A family of 4 moving down to Brownsville for the low pace life and low cost of living. Both of us have remote jobs and job security is not a big deal. Although, we started considering Brownsville for a job offer for public administration role- the pay was higher than $100k but after doing a bit of research I don’t think I want to mingle with a public office with bad reputation and pending law suits.

Hey everyone.
I think I am just looking for validation and support.
My mother is a narcissist among many other things but has always had extreme mood changes. As far back as I can remember she would go into months long endless energy and sometimes that would be followed by depression sometimes “neutrality”. I truly do not know what her true personality is but I am guessing it is the moments she is not as active as when she is manic, more likely to stay at home and sit on the couch, but not as depressed as we have seen her (she will talk and listen and be moderately “normal”)
She is currently in what we (including my therapist) believe to be in a manic phase since October 2023. It was brought on by my grandfather living in a different state hours away and having severe memory issues calling my mother hysterically crying. From there it started to rapidly get worse for her.
She’s barely sleeping. I know this because I am told by others who live in her home as well as her extremely late and extremely early posts on social media. She’s very religious when she’s manic. She’s gambling a lot, spending a lot of money, Gutting the rooms in the house (down to having walls broken down) with no responsible contractors to help, calling out of work a lot, crying then laughing then crying, she describes herself as having “racing thoughts” and talks a mile a minute.
She’s lost a ton of weight which is typical for her manic episodes. She can be aggressive and argumentative as well. Clearly this has been going on a very long time. I am the only one who has been serious about getting her help. My siblings don’t want to deal with it. My father doesn’t want her in the hospital and doesn’t want us to call anyone. She’s refuses therapy even at the very least.
She has a sick look in her eyes. I can’t explain it. almost like vacant look like she’s there but not “there”. It’s bizarre because sometimes she seems to be getting better and then within hours we’re back to it. I have limited contact with her per my therapists suggestion as it has been volatile with her and stressing me out. Because of my family history with her and others I am prone to being gaslit with them, feeling like what I am experiencing with her is not that bad especially when comparing to others or reading others experience.
Does anyone have similar experience with their loved one?
EDITED TO ADD: I have called her primary doctors office to try to get help, they told me they can suggest she seek a psych for her “anxiety and grief” but cannot force her. I convinced her months ago to see a short term therapist through her jobs EAP program and tried to call that therapist on the side who told me she is temporary, told my mother to seek a therapist long term but my mother told her she cannot afford it. I’m afraid of calling the cops on her because she is never actively violent, not hallucinating, and can convincingly seem “normal”

This happened a couple years ago, quite a few, actually, so my memory might nit be exact. So, my friend group of a couple boys, maybe 5 or 6, to go greet a new family who had just moved in, we didn't have anything dangerous, and we were just riding our bikes, when we get to the private drive, almost the second we step on, Karen comes running out, (not her actual name) and screamed at the top of her lungs "OMG THEY'RE GONNA ROB US!", I looked at her, ears hurt, with and obvious face of confusion, she pulled out her phone, and called the police almost immediately, then, the family we were trying to greet comes out of their house, mainly the father and older son, and asks her what in the world she is doing, she then screamed again "THEY'RE TRYING TO ROB THE STREET!", the family looked at us, harmless children, and looked back at her, the older son with confusion, the father with anger, and the father asked "how do you know they're trying to rob the street? They don't have weapons?" And she screamed "JUST LOOK AT THEM! THEY'RE LITTLE JUVENILES!", and, she starts talking to the police, about maybe ten minutes later, the police show up, and one of my friends, we'll call him Jack, not his real name, start having a panic attack on the road, rocking back and forth, crying, and I start getting a little pissed myself, as the police walk up to Karen, and ask her "what's may be the problem, Ma'am?", she told them that we had tried to break into her house with a hammer, the police walked to me, and asked me "is this true, young man?", and I said "I don't even have a hammer, we had walked onto the street, and Karen comes running out, screaming "THEY'RE GONNA ROB ME!", we weren't even close to her house, sir.". And no joke, the police officer started patting ,e down, looking fir said hammer. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, i must've had the most dumb-founded expression, because the second officers told his ol' buddy "y'know held wearing shorts and a t-shirt, right [name]?" And the officer immediately stops patting me down, looks me up and down, and says "oh, right." Like he wasn't just patting me down looking for an object i couldn't hide, then walks back to karen, and tells her to screw off, he apologized to me, called the parents of "jack" to pick him up, I greeted the new kid nervously, apologized for the commotion, and we've been friends ever since, and Karen moved out almost the day after, I got told she was evicted, so, karma's a bitch! I remember the early 2010s as a much more optimistic but more vapid time.
I remember really interested in space and sci fi during the Summer before my first year of college in 2013 because I picked up a cheap copy of "Mass Effect" from a local GameStop. after getting tired of Call of Duty and remembering how a friend begged me to play it.
What I experienced blew me away. I ended up getting the whole trilogy and all the DLC. I binged through Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, and Firefly. I bought a cheap telescope and went stargazing. I started following Neil Degrasse Tyson and Startalk.
Eve Online was another sci fi universe that dazzled me.
That Summer was so magical.
Sadly by the time I was in college those interests largely died out.
During my college years I was obsessed with "Greek Life" and "Organic Food". I was obsessed with vacations to Disney World. I was obsessed with German made luxury cars. I was obsessed with Game of Thrones and Marvel. I was obsessed with getting a cushy office job that would give me nice things. I thought that "Frat Bros" and "Valley Girls" were the coolest people.
But since 2020 my worldview has undergone another radical shift. Maybe I have rediscovered my true self.
During the quarantine of 2020 I check out Apple TV and one particular show on there reignites my interest in space and aviation. The return of American human spaceflight through "Crew Dragon" and the new Mars rover, Perseverance adds fuel to that fire.
My interest in sci fi came roaring back as well. I picked up Vernor Vinge's "A Fire Upon the Deep" and it gave me a sense of wonder I haven't felt since playing the first Mass Effect all those years ago. I finished James S.A. Corey's "The Expanse" series and while I enjoyed it I hope humanity would aspire to a space future that didn't have so much inequality and struggle. I am now reading Iain M. Banks "Culture" novels and with the recent advancements in AI and the UFO craze I think that vision of the future is much more believable than several years ago. And I started following a website that had a lot of space news on it, Ars Technica that also had a lot of other science and technology as well.
That along with the West Coast heatwaves ignite a passion for science and other technology as well.
I become more open to GMOs and nuclear power. I become more excited about "Nuclear Fusion". I remain cautious about AI but still dream of the possibilities.
Now I don't care too much about material stuff anymore. Now I think that astronauts, scientists, and engineers are the coolest people.
Now I wonder what our society would be like today if instead of being so mired in social problems and being obsessed with Hollywood level materialism complete with giant mansions, yachts, and private jets and instead going all in with science and technology because we dreamed of creating a future that looked like it came out of a sci fi novel.
Fully reusable spacecraft, nuclear and fusion powered rockets, rotating ring space stations, bases on the Moon and Mars, asteroid mining, asteroid colonies, O'Neill cylinders, generation ships, warp drive, regrowing lost limbs, etc.
What could we achieve if we dreamed?
What could we achieve if we started doing everything we could to stop global warming and control social problems because we dreamed of what would happen once got those under control and started redirecting massive amounts of money, resources, and people into science and space programs?
Looking back I wished I hadn't lost interest in space, sci fi, and science.
Looking back I find it sad that I never knew anyone from my typical suburban middle class school district during the 2000s and early 2010s who went into science or engineering.
I heard that the 1960s "Space Race" inspired many youth of that time period to go into science or engineering and those youth who went into those fields ended up giving us the 1990s tech boom. It seemed like society at least in my area was obsessed with either war or with Hollywood level materialism. Math and science were seen as things that were "Uncool" but that was more of middle school thing.
Perhaps if the American government was better in the 90s and 2000s and fostered a culture of aspiration I would have known at least one or two and I think that would have been a better world.
Could just one TV show be that powerful?
I heard that "Star Trek" inspired the creation of technology. Apple TV's "For All Mankind" is probably continuing that legacy by increasing interest for space.

As you know, Article 7.8 of the PEF contract provides for payment of a Higher Education Differential (HED) to PEF members who possess an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctorate (e.g., MD, JD, PhD) from an accredited college or university, or a current professional license issued by the New York State Education Department, awarded on or before March 29, 2024. To expedite HED payments, the Center for Human Resources Management (CHRM) conducted a review of all PEF represented titles to determine if degree/licensure, defined above, is a minimum qualification for appointment. These determinations are reflected in the attached file (PEF HED TITLE BREAK BY MIN QUALS). • Employees appointed to titles on tab #1 (ED ANDOR LIC MQ) qualify for HED, and payments will be processed centrally. o These employees do not need to provide any proof of degree/licensure to the HR office. • Employees appointed to titles on tab #2 (NO ED OR LICENSE MQ) require an HR review of Personal History Files (PHFs) to determine eligibility. Payments will be processed centrally depending on eligibility. o If HR can confirm that there is a qualifying degree/license on file, no further action will be required by the employee. o If HR cannot confirm a qualifying degree/license, the employee will be contacted to furnish a copy, if any, of their qualifying degree/license, no later than March 29, 2024.
It's my understanding that at OMH, the word on the street is.... only those who hold licensure- nursing, medicine received the bonus this pay period.

Hi everyone!
I’m Austin, a recruiter with a local company called Wittman Enterprises. In short, we are a medical billing company that operates within the emergency medical services field (ambulatory and life flight services). Although Wittman is local to the Rancho Cordova area, we are part of a larger parent company that operates across the nation and is growing rapidly. The culture here is pretty fantastic, and I’m excited that I get to search for new fresh faces to bring on board!
I personally like this company because it feels like a “Goldilocks-zone”, as I like to call it… We have a great “small-town” vibe across our organization, where teams are close-knit, and people enjoy getting to know one another.
