I have a list of jobs I've applied to and update it when I get rejected or progress to the next stage. I thought I was around 40-50 rejections, but I decided to count them up and turns out I'm at 80. What great news to get on your birthday!
On top of that, I'm no longer in the running for any jobs.
TBH, I shouldn't have even opened the email today. I've been job searching for months after graduating last year. I was meant to take the day away from my job search to chill, relax and regroup (take time to enjoy today). Well not anymore.
After seeing that rejection email - which came after 1 of the only 2 phone interviews I've had and seeing I've now been rejected from 80 jobs made me very upset and feel useless.

I can't get a job anywhere - I've applied to a range of places including grad schemes, big, medium and small companies, retail (high and low end), restaurants, museums, remote and more.
I've only had 2 phone interviews and been rejected both times. Before the latter one, I asked for advice. I practiced so much, gave good answers, asked good questions and made the interviewer laugh twice - but still I got rejected. From the advice I got and videos I watched, a lot of people said it's easy to pass a phone interview and you should really pass all the ones you have (if you've done some research and have some passion and know why you want the job) - that just makes me feel even more useless.
I sat on my bed for 30 mins doing nothing, just sat there. I then went for a shower to try and get on with my day, but I cried in there and now I feel nothing. I don't even care that it's my b-day anymore.
I'm a failure. I'm nowhere near where I wanted to be at this stage of my life. I even had a baseline for where I wanted to be and I'm far below that. I've seen friends and people I know my age getting jobs and internships so easily. Even in my own family. My cousin had 2 interhsips during uni, dud a placement year, got an internship after graduating and then he took time out to relax and then said "he was bored" at the start of the year and said he'll start applying for jobs - 3 weeks later he had a full-time, high paying job and recently got the month off to go traveling. My other cousin is off to uni later this year (most likely Cambridge), she always gets top grades and had 2 mentors that work at big companies and are high up, well respected and high earners (not sure how she got them). I know already she will get multiple internships while at uni and easily find a high-paying job straight out of uni, (worst case, one of her mentors will give her a job) - even worse is that she wants to go into the same industry as me, she's 3 years behind but 3 years ahead of me at the same time and will probably go way further than me.
I'm the failure of my family, the failure of my friend group, I used to have high hopes for myself, but can't get in anywhere. I've let my parents down big time.
I'm not sure what I want from this post, it's more of a rant.

Had yet another unexpected bill show up this month, I get paid on the 6th of March and I can get the money to you right away.

this post is just going to be big rant. if you reply, please be kind and don't send me threats or anything please im just trying to get my thoughts out in a healthy way.
anyway, its quite late at night when im writing this post. im supposed to be editing a literature essay for an exam i have in two days but im so anxious about it. im typically a high achiever in literary subjects but moving up a grade this year has sent me for a tailspin. my average percentage has decreased an insane amount and i dont know how to fix it. in addition, im feeling so stressed out by every other subject. i have a diagnosis for anxiety and take medication to treat it but i feel that with all this amounting academic pressure (and other things that i may or may not feel like writing about) its just not enough and im freakinng out a lot.
on top of all of this, i have no friends. my mother and therapist will say that its because i've purposefully isolated myself but i think thats just my self defense from how poorly they treated me. idk. i am a very sensitive person and feel things quite strong so perhaps it is all my fault... but i feel physically sick and scared whenever i try to approach them ! even thinking about it raises my heartbeat. honestly, there's not much that they've done to harm me and the things they have would probably be shrugged off by any normal person but thats just not my way of coping. this factor is probably just self sabotage.
furthermore, i absolutely hate my physical appearance. ever since i was able to recognise the reflection in the mirror as my own, ive spent so much time analysing all thats wrong with me. i fear that im fat and over the past few years i've developed a restrictive eating disorder. fortunately, or unfortunately depending on the way you look at it, i have family that was able to recognise this and set me on the right track before things got too out of hand. i still wish to lose weight but i know i cant get away with much as im currently sitting on a bmi of exactly 18.5 (at my most i was 19.8). i just dont know what to do to fix this issue.
planning to move schools soon in the hopes that i'll be able to reinvent myself and explore a whole new corner of the world.
i have such high hopes and optimism for my future. i just wish that i knew i'll get to where i want to with a strong support system and friends that i love and who love me back.

i can't judge after hand how much danger i was in but i would treat it seriously
luckily has not happened again in this country for a month. hopefully never happens again. although the next time i will have the benefit of having experienced it already
when police arrived i demanded prison for the dog owner in clearest possible way i could. after my speach was done they did not ask me a single word. they could tell i was furious of fear. and better to talk another time. i am so drained from global security work that i can't follow up on this but this should be available for anyone to read that might experience it themselves or take upon their self to wander around this globe as i do
i will probably feel guilty if the owner lose his dogs or hunting permit or reputation in his community. i am not going to judge anyone extremely harshly
if they ask me to fill out a criminal report according to some kind of format standards i am not going to do it myself an experienced prosecutor that has done it before is free to report this or pass it along. just not going to fill in report fields in some kind of form. you do it for me if you want to. i am not doing it. should be enough information to find

just the title should give you the general idea
i have never heard of such outrageous neglect in dog keeping in my life
the dogs escape unnoticed at night and hunt without human supervision and presumably return in the morning without anyone doing anything about it
this dog owner would make the top ten list anywhere in history
the dogs occasional howl brought up pictures of wolf movies the grey with that guy from Schindler's list the guy that played Oscar Schindler fighting with wolves with broken glass and a big knife to his death but i can safely discard all theories besides a runaway hunting dog militia on four legs in a large pack sounded like at least ten animals
in that immense fear of a completely unfamiliar situation in a life of hiking around the globe thoughts whirled around all possible night mares before i realised it is obviously hunting dogs all else is pure fantasy wolves are absolutely ruled out
they did not retreat when they sensed my presence but stayed in full alarm perhaps as when they encounter prey on a supervised hunt to alert the humans. even though they knew they were alone and no one to alert, they knew i was probably not prey, did not know enough to EVER be alone unsupervised anywhere but home preferably inside, but did NOT know or predict the length of the prison sentence they just brought on their owner by this nightly escapade. whoops
the locals will predictably put the lid on but the power of the internet is a wonderful thing
i can not imagine any circumstance that would make this less than prison anywhere in the union or West europe. now this is the old east. no one understands English etc. one escaped dog barking in the forest. fine. slap on the wrist. possibly losing care of the animal...ten rabid hunting dogs in full alarm scaring the life out of a hiker resting at night. shake those bars for three months. watch that prison television. and there won't be any Marlborough or beers in prison

the exact location is near the highest hunting tower on the old railway trail passing by upsede north east of liepaja that is used for hunting commonly judging by all the towers lining the road there
This began around Four hours after dark on the early night of Sunday 28 April 2024 or exactly 1:00 o'clock
I will first describe exactly what happened and after that separately my interpretation in hindsight when recalling these events three hours later when I can calm down
This is a rather long story so I will get to my point right here before the story
What can I do if I encounter a dog pack like this again except tell at them and calmly leave. What if they hunt me or behave like they are guarding a territory. However remotely that might seems. There is a reason this is a serious crime. Too much uncertainty
Can you confirm that this kind of incessant barking is absolutely impossible in any other animal
In no circumstance whatsoever would any wolf pack or any deer flock behave like this even if I stood right on their den with ten kids inside
The occasional howling is something that dogs still retain from their wolf origin not long ago
It is not unlikely that a pack of hunting dogs alone would howl occasionally
Despite yelling at them several times there was no yell back from a human. Very likely the dogs escape at night without anyone caring about it extremely dangerous and frightening to a hiker that need. Rest at night not the fright of a life time
I could not imagine that in a relatively rich country anyone ever would drive their dogs for a night hunt. Would be absolute insanity. Neglect and alcoholism depression (försupen dumhet Swedish) I can easily imagine. Not outright insanity. Even if night hunting permits are sometimes issued in Germany for "animal control" "population control" of wild pigs. This is a completely separate topic that I will not say more about than that I am working on these issues on and off. My view as a progressive world ambassador could not be further from the idea of shooting at anything anywhere for any reason. Except tranquilizer darts for humane population control of CAPTURED animals not hunted. Captured. It is clear in Sweden that shooting anything anywhere with fire arms does not belong in the future society. Now this is all I will say about this. We are working on this as fast as is possible. The education effort still left on this planet is still enormous and daunting
Regarding dog behaviour in detail I know very little despite inspecting a manuscript by the foremost scientist on the subject that work in Budapest that is most famous for working on the Philippine paradise fish ten years ago before they changed to dogs and removed their aquarium
Dogs in particular have very little room in the professional literature since most pros are not anthropo centric. All mammals share common traits like an early recognition of friend and foe. Dogs in particular has almost never been studied at least not dogs for guarding or hunting. There might be one single work perhaps by one single biologist or behaviour ist ethology biology for shepherds dogs that life with grazing livestock
All books cover territory selection and protection and pack hunting or other flock behaviour. But almost nothing has apparently been possible or interesting to anyone to publish as a professional seeking a career in science in ethology animal behaviour or population biology. so i am not the only one drawing a blank when trying to explain the behaviour with any satisfaction more than anecdotal that is hard to call science

what I experienced

A sudden bark that I expect to be a roe deer that bark and run away. happens all the time
Although the bark was not quite right. more like a dog which I have never encountered at night
Suddenly a roaring festival of barking and occasional howling
The distance is extremely uncertain but perhaps five hundred meters
The direction was towards road p111 to the east toeards Upsede. i am by the big tower. There is one house near the road that the dogs could belong to if they crossed p111
Now my primal instinct set in and I envision a pack, a large pack, of wolves near their den the core of their territory. Frothing over my intrusion and ready to approach in full alarm
In hindsight this is just the occasional howling that caused this and everything about this speaks against wolves
IF wolves can behave like this or has been observed or heard doing this in ANY circumstance whatsoever I absolutely need to hear about it because it would bear on my future expeditions
If there is this single wolf dog hybrid pack maybe only one in Europe that I happened to encounter I absolutely need more information. feral dogs that would possibly go unnoticed in Belarus has crossed over to Latvia?
I have never heard of anything like that
All wolf incidents as rare as they are in Poland or anywhere have been with lone wolves that are sick or hungry and have lost their feir of humans
I have never heard of an aggressive wolf pack in Europe or anywhere on the planet
I have seen wolf droppings so many times and spent so much time day and night in wolf territory that I would never expect them to be so aggressive about human scent or sound like that
I have certainly had wolves near me many times but never heard a peep. In Sweden and Norway on long expeditions all summer and even winter and on and off for years from Spain to France Belgium Germany Poland and now here in the Baltics for one month so far direction Finland
The pack was in full alarm with barking and an occasional howl that dogs will still use. But much less than wolves. Wolves never bark together like this in any circumstance I have ever heard it seen if
It is with near certainty the pack of dogs that have hunted there before that happens to live on the farm on the opposite side of the road and escaped west around thousand metres into the forest.
Perhaps they do this regularly but no one cares

Hiking and trekking and wild camping is MUCH more common in Sweden and Norway than anywhere in the world even Finland that is a close second. It is the Scandinavian spirit. As has recently been proven paleo lithic pre farming humans breed into the farming population only in Scandinavian nowhere else in Europe. I am personally absolutely at peace in nature and hate combustion engines that bother few others
Without getting off track completely I am continuing my expedition around Europe and almost all ground breaking record breaking endeavour of exploration has come from Scandinavia specifically. First settlement of the new world five hundred years before another European country etc etc etc first man on the south pole endless list of did what no one else could ot would. I am not placing my breed on a pedestal just explaining that if anyone would encounter something like this most likely it would be a Swede and the locals are most likely entirely puzzled why I am not living my life in doors at home or in a comfortable guest house
But this is beside the point just a side track to explain my presence in this rare encounter

in hindsight what happened

It is clear to me now that a pack of large hunting dogs. Not the small loud ones. Tax in Swedish. I have never owned a dog or hunted. I am a scientist. So I don't know much of anything about dog breeds. But presumably Large dogs that can hunt and kill on their own that have been trained to not kill the prey but only stalk it or drive it and make a loud alarm to draw the apes (not condescending just scientific classification of my species)
This is all speculation I just can't imagine what I heard to be a pack of tax (Swedish) small rabbit hunting dogs. These were large animals certainly with courage to act alone without humans
But I don't know anything about common hunting dogs in this region or anywhere so I can't suggest what breed it could have been that could behave this way

They had no intention to move back. I called for a police to meet me on road p111 and moved. I could hear the dogs for one thousand metres which gave me the impression that they moved after me at a safe distance perhaps curious about what I was
Again. If wolves can ever in any circumstance behave with this curiosity or aggressive confidence on human scent AND loud roaring. I yelled at them as a three hundred kilos silver back gorilla would try to show how big and powerful he was. No wolves ever no matter how big their biggest packs are in Europe would do anything but withdraw. These animals stayed at a distance and gave me the impression that they followed me on the road even. But not close
Distance is extremely uncertain but my best guess would be five hundred meters
This location has been used before for hunting and these dogs have been released during supervised legal (presumably) hunting in this exact location
They have smelled or sensed a wild animal and followed it into the forest where they have hunted before

will anyone stop this. how common is this

The police said they would call the nearest farms and ask about their dogs and the hunters that set up the hunting towers there in that old railway road where the dogs live that they bring to hunt there
But unfortunately I don't expect them to do anything when the response is "I know nothing". This is obviously a massive incident since I told them I am a scientist that will likely enquire with other scientist and if they cover this up it will explode big time. this is not s minor incident
Jägarna is a popular Swedish movie about the sad reality of this kind of stuff. anything related to mis management with hunting or dogs is so deeply rooted in human behaviour since the stone age that the local police do anything they can to forget about it. "Probably just a barking deer" or "wolves are common in the forest" and might bark despite my sincere explanation that this is hunting dogs not wolves and carries a prison sentence if heard in front of a magistrate
if you imagine "i like logic circuit design" the absolute opposite is "i like dogs and hunting". it's as different as a von Neumann machine is from sticks and stones in technological achievement. and a massive education effort is still needed for that population should they not cause a complete collapse of civilization like 1930s Germany. you might like NATURE you certainly don't like fire arms or dogs. has nothing to do with investigating nature. it is not conscious behaviour. but only photographers and hunters visit nature? you are obviously not a scientist ("what is this?" looking at bowling ball in small Lebowskis bath room. "you are obviously not a golfer")
I don't expect them to even ask anyone and just hope I forgot about it or they never have any other hikers near that spot at night
The "police report" that I received when they returned from the spot I told them to investigate was exactly that "it was probably just a deer and now I will go home and sleep". that only told ne that the pack had moved or did not respond to a car or they went to the wrong place or most likely could not be less motivated to find them
I gave the female officer that spoke English a stern explanation what would happen in Sweden. Prison. Absolutely nothing else than prison. Grave negligence in dog oversight. No hunting license and no dogs for the rest of his life
This is extremely serious that this is seen as a minor mistake that hunting dogs are stalking wild animals alone at night. Only in Sweden do we understand clearly that HUMANS are in the forest at night sometimes. We have palaeolithic blood lines and the world's foremost paleo biologist among other things. I am a renowned explorer. My father and uncle is one of the world's foremost wildlife photographer for WWF NG etc. Wild life is strictly monitored and controlled and this kind of neglect is absolutely treated with utmost sincerity
Our society is not in a state of civil war. Escaped hunting dogs hunting alone at night. Prison. Period. And the local police that tries to suppress it or treat it with a yawn will be investigated by internal affairs and released from service and prohibited from similar work with a responsibility to investigate seriously
We in sweden have the most aggressive policy in the world to combat this suppression of neglect related to hunting from the local community or any kind of coverup attempt or failure to investigate serious neglect, crime or not, we are not "paragraph riders" (paragraf ryttare) we investigate serious problems. anyone can understand how serious this is before digging after paragraphs

more about dog behaviour in general that might be relevant

Regarding dogs that hunt alone. I will not name any names but I have met a couple that lived in a remote valley in Portugal where their two large extremely aggressive dogs (even after ten minutes they were extremely uncomfortable with my presence and would not listen to their owner's calm regarding my encounter near their caravan on Canary islands) hunt together and bring home food. Literally drag it home to the family. Needless to say they have no kids and I will not say more about it more than the point that large dogs can easily on their own learn to hunt wild game. Possibly several breeds. They are still all close relatives of animals that do exactly that to survive. Guard territory identify intruder stalk and hunt prey is their basic behaviour anything else would result from actively counter acting instinctive behaviour that has become common to convert security staff patrol units and killers to social support animals because morons absolutely need to own a dog
Recall that in less developed countries like Chile dogs bark all night EVERYWHERE and run free in the day
I was in Chile for six months and never encountered dogs at night but had to suffer through the incessant noise if "guarding" at night. EVERYONE has night guard dogs. it is completely incomprehensible if you ever passed first grade with honours that they blindly follow a relict tradition for no other reason. Those dogs are GUARD dogs that have no experience of hunting ever. And when they encounter a human in the forest during their daily adventure they are never aggressive that far away from home
In western Europe outside Spain almost never dogs that bark all night. Same in Latvia. Two weeks in Lithuania don't think I ever heard a dog at night. A welcome serenity from Chile that I just arrived from after completing my record breaking expedition there

Hello! The title basically. I am interested in analyzing historical stock and futures market prices from an 'objective' perspective using statistics, probability or whatever methods are appropriate. It is not my intention to get into the world of 'High frequency trading', but to know how to obtain insights based on statistics on price contexts for 'non-subjective' decision making.
For example, if I have an observation like: on the second Monday of each month, when the price stays above the opening price for the first half hour, it usually continues to rise. What would be the scientific way to verify something like that? And in case an advantage is discovered, how to estimate the probabilities? My biggest concern is reaching the wrong conclusions, forcing the results or falling into fallacies in the analysis. I want to strip the analyzes of subjectivity as much as possible using only price and volume data.
Currently I have knowledge of programming with python and I know how to manage data using libraries like polars, however, on the mathematical side I am a little lost. I don't remember much other than basic algebra, I remember seeing a little linear algebra, statistics and pre-calculus in college (I only attended 2 semesters), but I remember almost nothing. So I want to reinforce and continue only with the necessary topics to be able to do this type of studies.
What topics or study materials do you recommend I focus on?

I am a new sysadmin. My entire background is tier 1 and 2 help desk for 3.5 years. I have basic sql knowledge like select * from db.
I got hired as a jr sys admin. We do not have a DBA on staff.
 
We have an enterprise application.

The TIBCO Foresight family of EDI management solutions allows organizations to trade electronic transactions with commonly-used formats (EDI, XML, and proprietary Flat File) and standards (HIPAA, X12, EDIFACT, and so on).

 
I had to do a version upgrade. It worked in dev and test environments but it failed in prod. So I had to roll back my changes which included restoring a sql DB.
The sql db rollback took 8 hours to run. At the end of the 8 hour mark, it popped up an error. Something about a missing mdf file or locked mdf file. I dont remember. But it failed.
 
Well veeam has a feature called publish database. This creates a mount on C:\ and temporarily attaches the backed up DB located on veeam to the sql server. This is not a permanent solution but it minimizes down time.
So I used this feature until I could get another maintenance window to fully restore the DB.
The DB was running in production like this for a few weeks.
 
I took a full back up of the DB on may 3rd, then each day until the 10th I took a differential backup each morning. I didnt take diff backups over the weekend. My plan was to just come in on Monday and take another differential backup.
Well yesterday morning, veeam crashed which unpublished the DB. So the DB was gone.
 
I restored the full backup of the DB (May 3rd) which took 5 hours. Now I am trying to restore the differential backups but me being a new jr sysadmin - not a DBA with 20 years of sql experience - I didnt know that differential backups are incompatible with a DB if there were any changes made since the full back up was restored. I assumed it would just overwrite everything.
I fell asleep when the full back up completed so the DB was live and our app was writing to it. So now my differential backups are useless.
 
I need guidance.
Is my strategy correct?
 
I am going to let the current DB run in production. This means we have a restored BD up to May 3rd. Now there is data for May 14th on it and there will be more data added to it up until whenever our maintenance window is. Probably this weekend,
I am going to let this DB keep running so our application isnt down all day.
I am going to schedule a weekend maintenance window. During this maintenance window I will turn off all connections to the DB, then I will take a transaction log backup of the DB.
Then I will:

• Delete the DB.
  
• Restore my full back up from may 3rd.
  
• Restore my differential backups for the 4th - 10th.
  
• Restore the transaction log backup. This t-log would include all of the changes that occurred from May 14th until the maintenance window I assume, right?
  
• our EDI team would manually import the missing data from the 11th - 13th.
  

All the rest, I have seen before, same tactics, etc.. except this one thing. Tents/ camps in university. Seen that in Occupy Wall Street. Wearing masks to conceal identity, seen that. Blocking of roads, clashes with police, graffiti, boycotts etc… seen all that before except the “Do not speak to rule”…”we are not allowed to talk”,…”no comment”…”if you got something to ask, speak to the media liasion officer” (I dont think its solely about press,… the protesters are discouraged from speaking not only to the press, but other people (outsiders) like non-protesters or from other other side etc…).
That is new. I dont remember any protest movenent which forbade its supporters from speaking freely. When the Pro-Palestinian movement started back in October, protesters were freely talking about it, explaining to strangers/ passerby their cause, etc… but not these days and not these student protesters, they arent that interested in talking. So much so, other protesters might make some comment to remind themselves, dont speak to others etc… if they see you engaging with an “outsider”
This is the irony. They profess freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to protest….AND YET by their very action they are NO LONGER interested in speaking (at least not individually, there is no room for respect of differences of opinion). It probably started wanting to engage in a dialogue, communicating, talking with others, with the university respectives etc… but not anymore, they are more interested in just telling you want they want you to do, they are not interested to listen to you or hear your excuses/ explaination, and if you dont give in to their demand, they will act out.

1. This is a big problem on many levels, seemingly intelligent or educated young people voluntarily surrendering their freedom of speech to a designated official of the protest movement to speak for them. Why ? Because they were told not to speak to others…how obedient ? They were probably told for your own protection,…trying to conceal your identify,..or you are not well verse with the issue, let someone else better, knows what they are doing (clearly you dont know enough) and in position of authority speak for you. You just keep quiet, repeat the chants, do what you have been told. Its quite easy for more radical or more vocal groups to use them and push the movement to a more violent path.
   
2. Because they are not talking to outside their circle,… they dont know much about the subject matter. They only know whats being told to them. They are not questioning, critically analyzing, debating the information / stories provided to them, starting to sounds a lot like cult, not an expert on this subject, perhaps the could unknowingly fall victim to group think.
   
3. I predict they wont go away anytime soon, they have proclaimed they will continue protesting. They will always have more demands and try to push for more and more…the protest movement started on the streets, then some blockade on roads leading to airports / ports, now on college campus, they will continue to make target big companies on the BDS lists, storming congress #2, riots on streets etc… i am not saying student protesters are violent or seeking violence by nature, but their compliance and their silence make them complicit to any illegal acts or violence carried out in the name of Pro-Palestinian movement.
   
4. If student protesters fail at negotiation with their university. Ask yourself what hope is there for a peace negotiation between Israel and Hamas ? None. You are not too different. You make demands. You dont want to talk. You want the otherside to agree to your demands…if you are not able to get through to your university, just think …who can help ? Mediator. There are mediators negotiating between Israel and Hamas…who are your mediators? I think your alumni will be an ideal mediator, they understand students, they also have good relations with the university admin. They might also give the students a reality check. They might tell the students if their companies are looking to hire any students arrested or suspended.
   
5. On the bright side, students ranked the middle east conflict the 9th concern, after heathcare (1st), education (2nd), Climate change (5th) etc..only 8% students participated in either side of protest. 90% says blocking pro-Israel students on campus are unacceptable. 81% support holding protesters accountable for destroying school property.

Okay random but there are some errors with Reddit this morning and it won't let me upload my chart. Spoiler alert, I really don't need to do it in the first place bc the chart is pretty much unchanged. The entire market is pretty much in a holding pattern as it waits for CPI. PPI came out this morning and spoiler alert, it was hot. I think we were expecting that a bit as inflation proves sticky and I think overall a hot inflation report all but kills any hopes you get anything more than 1 rate cut this year.
Some people have been saying that they are still thinking 2-3 cuts and these guys haven't been paying attention if ya ask me. That is overly optimistic. The fed slowing down QT is a BIG BIG deal and that starts next month. That should bring yields on the 10 year start to drop. It's not going to be as dramatic as quantitative easing might be with the buying of treasuries. But it will really take away that upward pressure that has been on the 10 year which should help growth stock markets like us.
Why am I talking about all of this???? Well (may not seem like it at the moment) but we are a great growth stock. We are moving so flat and volume has completely dropped off as the entire market is waiting for CPI and ultimately NVDA's earnings. Seeing the meme stocks return was NOT on my bingo card for 2024 so good god. Massive speculation in the market is something to watch out for. If you see any crazy price spikes as dumb money flows in, I would be cautiously optimistic for sure.
AMD has really lost the narrative. I know this might not be popular to say but I've said it in the comments and discussion multiple times. Market is looking at new ATH and we are still soooo far off after literally DOUBLING our sales guidance. It's not a failure of execution. It is a failure of communication and narrative. Computex is our last really chance in the next 6 months to try to regain control of the microphone. I feel in my bones that Zen 5 is coming but we really need another "one more thing" moment that isn't super super technical. The fact that everyone is all quiet on MI300 chip sales and things makes me wonder if they don't want to sing the praises bc they already have a 2nd gen? They might be wanting to really just make it through initial order deliveries before seeing potential cancellations for 2nd gen. This is allllll just pure speculation here. There is zero data to support this.
I just remember when we were fighting these DC wars with INTC, it felt like there was articles every single day coming out about how Genoa and Epyc were destroying the competition. Now radio silence. And I don't know why???? I hope it is by design for some reason but if is not, then honestly every single person on their marketing team HAS to be fired. There needs to be a shakeup for real.
At the end of the day, This price action is giving us a decent value proposition for AMD where our valuation is starting to catch up to our share price. AMD isn't a value stock. If we were, then where is the dividend lol. I do worry that eventually shareholders are going to start to look for some sort of leadership shakeup and this is going to tarnish what Lisa has accomplished with AMD.
AMD it stuck in this middle ground of nothing and we are riding the bottom trendline of $150 for our channel. Hopefully we can hold on here but without holding support in this area, then we are being set up for a massive potential downturn if NVDA misses somehow. We are going to get crushed and get 3x the pain NVDA and we aren't going to get nearly any of the benefit if they beat. Welcome to the suck!

So women would choose the bear over a random dude to meet in a forest alone, and if you think thats silly you apparently “dont get it”. But it’s actually women who don’t get it. Saying this is based on some logic that men don’t get is not true. In fact if anything picking the bear is based on pure emotions, not data.
Also it’s pointless to talk about individual bears or men etc. It’s just about statistical probabilities.
What data you’d need to make a logical choice? Number of men you meet in a forest on average, percentage of those men who cause you trouble, number of bears you meet in a forest, percentage of bears who cause you trouble. Then this needs to be corrected by the statistical probability of meeting a bear vs meeting a man (bears are much rarer than humans).
If you have all this data you can safely say if men or bears are more dangerous on average. That’s still not about individual cases, simply probabilities.
Until then saying that the bear is somehow less dangerous is illogical not backed up by any data but just emotions, hence why guys “dont get it”.

This thread has been my comfort zone for a long time. I would come here and read all the posts of people who have been struggling to find a job, just like I did. My personal story is not unique to this thread, where there are probably countless stories like mine. To give some context: I'm an international student (migrant 🥲) in the UK. I have studied here for 5 years at a good university that is part of the Russell Group. I completed both my master's and bachelor's degrees with high 2.1 grades. During my university years, I had a couple of internships and some work experience in a pub. Despite my qualifications and experience, finding a graduate position was incredibly challenging.
I'll be honest, in the beginning, I wasn't really applying for jobs. My daily application rate was low, and my self-esteem suffered as I had no idea how to do it properly. What kept me going was the motivation that if I didn't do it, I would fail to live up to what my parents had provided for me. My go-to tool became a chat GTP for cover letters, tailored CVs, and sometimes interview preparations.
Out of all the interviews I had, 70% led to nothing. I applied to more than 600 jobs during this period, got around 20 interviews, and only 3 led to second/final round interviews. Interestingly, those 3 interviews that led me to the next stage came from "Quick apply" postings, which said "send your CV and Cover letter to this email." I would advise others to pay attention to the "quick apply" posts. The first company that invited me for an in-person interview was great and had interesting people. They even covered my transportation costs. However, they sent me a rejection on Sunday via an automatic reply. This devastated and demotivated me for at least a week. I wished they had sent me a personalized rejection on Monday, especially since they had brought me to the final round. On top of that, in the email, they said they would be happy to provide feedback if I requested it, but when I did request feedback, no one ever got back to me.
Just before that, I directly contacted a company called Prohibition Partners through their info email. They contacted me back and I had an interview with one of the Data Analysts. They seemed happy with me and asked me to do a research project on the Weed market in Canada to see how I can conduct market research. I completed the research and was told they would review it and get back to me, but I was ghosted.
The last interview was nice, and I got it through "Quick apply," where it said to send the CV and Cover letter directly to the recruiter's email address. The phone screening went well, and the interview stage went well too, but unfortunately, they went with a more qualified and experienced candidate.
After half a year, I finally got something - an internship that I received through a cold emailing, and I hope they will give me a returning offer afterward.
How was this whole job search experience? It was fucking horrible. I hated the repetitive workdays and fucking workday website, the same typical questions everywhere, and the re-typing of information from my CV that was already provided in the CV. It felt like they shouldn't ask for a CV if they're just going to ask for the same information again. The whole job market feels insane right now. However, stay strong, there is a chance, but you never know where it's going to come from.

Hello I just adopted a fearful 3y Siamese whose owner couldn't keep him any longer. Not even 24h he chewed through the screendooinsect thingie and probably jumped from the terrace (dont worry I live on the 2nd floor and there's a way for him to get down safely. I doubt he hurt himself on the way down). He's very very fearful and shy and probably ran into an albeit small but very densely wooded area that's completely inaccessible to even dogs due to rocks, trees, grass ect. We can't enter it to go search for him and he probably won't come to us. We already went and called for him with food. Maybe his previous owner will be able to come help us search. The cat loves him and I assume ran away to get back to him but they lived 500km away so as you can imagine there's no chance the cat will show up at his ex home any time soon. We've put up flyers and asked around + informed a few neighbours that he's missing. We're looking for him, calling for him ect but I doubt he'll get close to us unless he's absolutely starving. If he wanted to come back he could've easily climbed back up to the terrace. Any advice on what to do? Do we wait and hope for him to slowly start adjusting and coming out of woody area? Is that when our only hope is? There are dogs nearby that could attack him and he's never been on his own. We've had a cat before for 15y (passed away) and neither she or any other cat I've ever heard of has done such a thing as bite through screendoors no matter how scared. Any advice would be appreciated!! We look for him at night as well since well people say that's when it's the best time to search for a cat. Thank you all 🙏

hi, i have been researching about the t14 gen 3 i7- 1265u 16 gb ram and 522 ssd as i saw a 2nd hand for 433 dollars when converted from ph peso. they say with intel, the battery drains so fast however i would probably only use the laptop for school, genshin, and remote work. i am very torn as it seems like a steal and i am just hesitant incase the battery wont last more than 4 hours. should i grab this laptop or look for a different one?

Hello everyone! I don't use reddit ever, so my apologies if this is formatted wrong or weird for this site. Anyways, this year I turned 20 years old. And life has been extremely hard on me. In high school I got exceptionally good grades and did plenty of college courses. But during junior and senior year my mental health tanked for various outside reasons and I never really climbed out of a hole I dug myself back then. It got so bad that I was admitted to a ward for suicidality. It's something that I realize I will always have to deal with, and lack of motivation is a killer.
Afterwards, though, I really wanted to give it all one more shot. I applied for my dream college out of state and actually got in! I even got some grants and scholarship money, etc. Obviously it was expensive, but with the "discounts" and such it seemed way more in line to what you would expect for something even in state. My mother however disagreed, she has always been a pretty neglectful person in my life (thankfully I have other family to live with) and permanently burned a bridge with me when she refused to cosign on a loan. I was absolutely devastated. And it plummeted me back into a the hole I was in for awhile.
In summary what I'm asking is: would there be any possibility that I could reasonably get into a college without a cosigner with no credit at my age? And how would I be able to do so if it's even possible. I know this is more of financial or college specific question, but any advice on this topic would be helpful. I've researched this specific question before a bunch, but I'm always left confused and overwhelmed.
I'm sure it's near impossible, as I really have no money and definitely no credit at the moment. And I'm unsure if I can even work right now. But I absolutely love paleontology, animals (extinct animals especially) really interest me. And I aspire to work in that field one day, and get a BA in something like Geology even if, again, its probably impossible.

So ever since I’ve started running, I have saved every pair of of running shoes I’ve used from 8th grade, through high school and college, all the way to today. More pairs than I care to count. I always thought I’d do something cool with them, what that is I don’t know. I know people have taken their old team & meet shirts and made a quilt, but not really possible with 30 pairs of shoes lol.
Well, I’m moving out at the end of the week and don’t really have a good way to store them at my new place, so if anyone has any good ideas as to what they did with their old trainers, I’d love to hear it. Can be as creative or simple as possible. I’ll probably just end up throwing them out, but it pains me just writing that thought down, tens of thousands of miles of memories are stored in these shoes. I’d hate to lose them.

I hear voices before I sleep a lot, mostly it's the voice of the same girl calling out to me. She's in my grade but I'm not really friends with her. I've joked with her that I hear her voice, though. Anyways, for some reason I hear her shouting something like, "Hey!" Or my name. Never anything serious. It's a very common phenomenon that happens when you're falling asleep.
There was this one time a few days after Christmas I was falling asleep in front of the tree going like "I'm so sleepy I'm going to hear voices soon." And then wondering if they were gonna talk me into doing something crazy or whatever. And then, probably because I thought of it there were two voices talking to me, the first sentence I'd heard word for word: "you have to do things that make you uncomfortable because it's the right thing to do." Tried to use it for gym motivation but it was no use, they weren't that convincing.
Last night, I woke up at like 3:00am and I was for some reason holding a clump of dirt between the space of my mattress and the wall, and there was this small blue worm, like a caterpillar in the pile. I was disgusted and tried to pin it against it to kill it or hold it in place to grab something to kill it. And then I was just lying on my back telling myself it's not real, pretty well knowing it isn't real, but then this voice was trying to convince me it was real and I look down and there was spilled dirt all over my sheets and this gross feeling that there's a worm in my bed. I was too sleepy, I decided it was like a schrödingers worm and that it was probably one or the other and I fell asleep covered in dirt. Obviously I woke up and it wasn't.

If the ball is hit to the 3rd baseman and it goes between his legs, then the 2nd baseman wasn't there in time as the back up and the left fielder attempts to barehand it, and misses it - is the error on all 3 players?

It’s normally when it’s going from 1st to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd, and the same changing down. I know it’s probably caused by how fast I’m changing the gears, but I’ve driven four other models (two fords, a Kia and a Peagout - literally don’t know how to spell that word and I’ve given up trying lol) and I’ve not experienced the lurching before. The Fiat is my first car that’s mine, and I’m worried that if I pull the clutch up any slower I’ll lose all power even after getting up more than enough gas before changing. I’m wondering if there’s any tips on how to make for smoother gear changes both up and down so I can convince my passengers and the road users of the UK that I actually know how to drive. Thank you!
