2024.05.13 22:07 nursegangplank Thorough Damage Recap

(From a perspective of an ACV Main) Do y’all think that a more thorough damage recap post-game would benefit us players on how to improve our gameplay? I don’t know if this has been brought up already but Mods, archive already if it has.
What I mean by this is a damage recap per Module (Missile Batt, G. Launcher, Cannon, Auto-cannons, and Torpedos) and per Aircraft (SF, Fighter, Drone, Bomber) post game. As an ACV main, it just feels like I am underperforming on some of my Aircraft where on average I only deal 800K-1.2M per deathmatch (Most damage coming from B-21 Bomber)
Sample Post-Game Damage Recap SF: 250k F: 1 Drone: 100k Bomber: 500k Theoretically, this can help me adjust my drone gameplay a bit or something like that.
P.S. In the middle of typing this I just realized that apart from ACV/CV players, this feature may be pretty useless because damage of Ship Modules are as is except for the inaccuracies that happen in G. Launchers and cannons at longer ranges and I think people do not really think about the damage they do after because you’d know the damage of the Module already and just shoot everything that passes in front.
Would this be useful if it ever gets added?

2024.05.13 20:12 PoetBest3 Need suggestions for sampler sequencer.

I've been doing some research on samplers after watching Andrew Huang's video on the plonk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN37dK9s2MM
For the end of video demo Andrew says he recorded the Plonk onto the 4ms Stereo Triggered Sampler, loaded them onto his computer, sorted and refined them, then sequenced them in a DAW of his choice.
I would like to be able to do all of this in my Eurorack, preferably with one, if not two, module(s).
I was looking into using the Nerdseq with another sample recorder such as the Disting EX, but unfortunately I can't easily pan these samples left and right while pitch shifting as far as I know, ala Aphex Twin.
I've also though of getting a Polyend tracker for this, but I really would like to keep everything contained within my Eurorack case if possible.
The purpose of this will be to create complex drum sequences. What do you all suggest? Is there a module that possibly does all of this?
Requirements: Stereo sample recording based on trigger at 8-bits or higher Fully fledged multi-track sequencer Sequencing CV automation especially for panning and pitch-shifting samples Ability to pan samples in real-time with CV Ability to pitch-shift samples in real time with CV Ability to playback and/or delete sample slices Loop sample slices Change sample slice loop length in real time with CV for snare rushes
Nice-to-have: OLED display Automatic slicing of samples based on transients/threshold Polyrhythms Sequence acceleration and deceleration within a bar Swing and Euclidean Beat repeat effect Granular effect

2024.05.13 19:18 kingcapitalsteeez Do I need “clinical experience” to apply?

Hi everyone, i plan on applying to clinical PhD programs in the cycle of 2025 to be admitted in 2026. I wanted to get people’s input on whether it is necessary that I go get some clinical experience given that I virtually have none. Just a bit about my CV: I volunteered as an undergrad research assistant for 2.5 years in a lab studying BD (did an honors thesis using data from a healthy sample). I had zero interaction with the BD participants and data collection was put to a halt due to the pandemic. I’ve been working post bacc for the past year in a lab that, while they promote themselves as a clinical lab interested in psychiatric disorders, it is actually an affective and developmental lab working with a community sample. I do administer SCID as part of my job and have been trained with how to deal with situations like suicidal endorsement. But outside of that, I don’t have any “clinical” experience as far as that is possible at this stage in my career. I surely will have extensive research experience and skills by the time I apply, including operating an MRI scanner (don’t know if this will be relevant in my applications yet), administering SCID, proficient with coding, running statistical analyses, both in R and fMRI data processing and analysis, with maybe a couple of publications (not first author, impossible in my lab, most likely mid-authors) and some posters (maybe 2 first authors and a few mid-authors). I also will have two really strong letters of rec from two distinguished professors in my field. No idea who will be my third at the moment. So should I go volunteer at some suicide hotline or outpatient/inpatient hospital to get clinical experience? How much will not being exposed to clinical populations hurt my resume? What type of “clinical experience” do you think would be best?
EDIT: seems like there’s a general consensus among the comments. Thank you all for your response! 🙏🏼

2024.05.13 10:28 MeatTurbulent8839 Booking in appointment

I’ve just booked in for my first appointment with a midwife, I’ll be 9+2 weeks by then. It was arranged through my GP. It’s just a phone call which surprised me - I heard they take your blood pressure, do a urine sample etc. Obviously they’re not going to be able to do that, so when does this happen? Also when can I book in my 12 week scan? Am I able to do this in advance or do you have to wait until your booking in appointment?
FTM so forgive my ignorance 😆

2024.05.11 16:10 Pussidonio K.I.S.S.

Posting this here because on the main people would get very upset when reading this.
I got an Hapax 2nd hand almost 6 months ago but only started using it more heavily recently, so i've been reading about it online.
Obviously it is not perfect (nothing is, at least not for everyone) but so it is kind of revolutionizing the way i make music (and by that i mean 4 bar loops of 4/4 kick drums and a hat playing syncopated - hey at least i am not filling a modular case.. fuck that).
BUT this is not the reason I am making this post, the reason I am writing this post is the complaints I read from people:
This is why we can't have nice things.
The Hapax is a standalone sequencer. I doesn't need sampling, sampler player or synth capabilities. You already have 20 samplers, 80 synths, why the hell do you need another one?
It's great the Hapax doesn't play audio. Since it doesn't play audio the whole UI is dedicated to sequencing. It is not a synth/sampler groovebox. If you don't have a synth buy an hydrasynth, it will work perfectly with the hapax - maybe even has a sequencer... idk. If you want a sampler groovebox buy one.
It only has 16 tracks ?? That's a problem to you? Get a DAW. It will fit your needs better. (Actually you can have two projects at the same time so that's 32 channels and if you have half a brain you can use that to expand it to 48, 64, 80, etc tracks.) Not sure why you need to hear this from me, your galaxy brain that is surely capable of such complex arrangements should already have figured this out. Any musical genius like you can surely use a single track for a whole drum machine and even figure out how to connect 2 or more synths to a single track by filtering notes in the same way you can do a split on any midi keyb.
Touch screen? Get an ipad and use one of the existing sequencer apps. Your requirements have been met 20 years ago. You're so lucky.
The CV/Gates don't work for you? Throw your modular, 70s or 80s synth in the trash. I don't care. Fuck off. Don't want to throw your shitty synth in the trash? Mod it. Can't mod it? Don't buy the Hapax. Seriously: don't buy it.
Then there's the people that bought a Deluge and think it is superior because it can do other stuff the Hapax doesn't. Great for you bro. You had your requirements met much before the Hapax was released. Sucks that the screen on the Deluge is reminiscent of an 80s Alarm radio clock but we know limitations help creativity so you're on the right path for a few years now and you should be finishing your first ambient track anytime soon.
There are people with other complaints but this seem to be the more commons ones.
Some of the complaints are constructive: The screen layout is weird, the pads should be velocity sensitive, should support virtual USB or more that one USB device per socket, it should not cost as much as it does (it should be free, like synth1 vst) and IMO no point in having CV/Gates because modular is dumb, add more MIDI ports instead.
TL;DR: Fuck off, buy a hydrasynth and crosspost this to the other sub.

2024.05.11 02:59 JackDaBoneMan What makes a good Writing CV/Portfolio

Hi all!
I am applying to a couple residencies. Most of the ones I am applying for ask for a CV and a Portfolio. In the past Ive published in magazines and the like, no fill length publications. I was wondering what kind of things should go into a writing CV, and what kind of work should go into a portfolio. The residenceies are aimed at those wanting to publishing their first book etc if that matters
Specifically, I work as an editor for my day job (not publishing related, corporate stuff) - should I include that? should I include Uni/work/roles I've had in writing related groups? or should it be only a list of publications? should this include online publications?
And for Portfolio - do selectors want to see range? just my best pieces? are short stories the way to go or samples of longer works I have that are unpublished/i intend to work on during the residency?
I'm probably overthinking it, but I've never been good at the 'sell yourself' aspect of these things and would love any and all advice.

2024.05.10 21:55 pepbro- Resources for Proteomics Analysis with R

I am looking for resources for doing analysis with R, mainly to create the standard plots such as PCR, volcano plots, CV plots etc.
My problem is primarily that I am not sure what sorts of normalizations and transformations I need to do before I can run such analyses. For example, I have spectronaut protein group quantities for my samples. I am assuming I will have to take the log of the values and perform some kind of significance test (t test?) and then run volcano plots or PCA.
Is there any kind of resource out there that teaches you this step? Or any documentation on how Spectronaut creates these figures?

2024.05.10 20:06 discretefalls new grad PA job interview prep

hi all! I've been seeing an influx of posts about prepping for job interviews so I thought I'd share my experience. I'm no expert by any means but I believe I was successful in getting interviews/offers by doing a couple of these things.
a little bit about me: i'm graduating from a PA program in NC this month. I knew I wanted to apply to jobs out of state, particularly in bigger cities and have a job offer secured before graduation. I also knew I wanted to start out in something general (ex: family med, hospital med) because I liked most of my rotations. I also applied to GI, neuro, and psychiatry jobs since I did additional electives in those specialities
I started applying to jobs at the end of January this year (about 4 months from graduation). I didn't really hear back until the end of February/beginning of March for a majority of positions I applied to. I applied to a total of 39 jobs mostly on the east coast and couple in the midwest/west. I applied broadly location wise as well.
here's what I did that helped:
-I had my CV and a sample cover letter looked at by faculty in my program and practicing PAs. I wrote a cover letter for every job I applied to which I believe increased my chances of hearing back/getting an interview
-if there was an HR recruiter email on a job posting I was interested in, I would email them and ask if they would consider my application since I was still in school. some places stated they would only consider my app until after I graduated and passed the PANCE. this saved me time in not applying to jobs that I technically wouldn't be qualified for
-asked faculty/alumni if they knew of any places/hospitals that were hiring new grads (this is how I got my chosen job offer)
-I typed out my answers to commonly asked interview questions (tell me about yourself/your rotations, strengths/weaknesses, etc). i also did get asked clinical scenario questions so I briefly reviewed preventative healthcare screening guidelines and commonly ordered diagnostics. this helped me feel more prepared for my interviews. in general I had around 2-3 interviews for a potential job (usually started with HR, then a individual or group interview with an APP/MD)
-researched median salary ahead of time by looking at the AAPA salary report. I was asked about my salary expectation at variable times in the interview process (sometimes in the beginning, sometimes in the end)
-I always had questions to ask them- you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. most of my questions were about training/orientation, new grad expectations, roles, and responsibilities, supervision requirements, challenges to expect on the job, what qualities they were looking for in a potential hire, etc
-once I had an offer, I had a faculty member review my proposed offer lettecontract for further insight
I remember being very nervous last year around this time about securing a job offer given how the job market currently is and reading prior posts on reddit about the PA job market (most of these were written during the height of COVID though). the job search was tedious but I would say that the issue wasn't hearing back from jobs or receiving interviews but rather it was determining whether the job would be a truly good fit for me as a new grad. the interviews themselves were easy compared to my interviews to get into PA school.
best of luck on the job search to those applying or applying in the near future! may we all end up in jobs we are excited about and will thrive in :)

2024.05.10 04:06 Feather_Thatch An updated plan, more fully explained.

https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2510249
A preamble cuz no one's gonna read this if it's at the bottom: My hard limits: One row 84hp, less than 800ma power draw estimate (for the uZeus power supply which I will house in a homemade case rather than on the rack), and to cost less than $2500 at the end of it (what I already own I got discounted so I'm still safe here.) I must also think about current and future availability, as some modules that may fit the bill better, are not actually available.
Goals/shoes to fill: at least one complete and versatile synth voice☑️; external input with envelope and gate extractor☑️; a few good unique effects☑️; at least some versatile modulation☑️; a bit of generative sequencing☑️. Was able to also add midi connectivity for daw integration☑️.
With those limitations in mind, I think this might be the widest variety of potential functionality I could get. Not much "all at once" stuff, but many patch opportunities to individually record, and a few unique and modulatable effects to process guitar and voice through, which is my plan. I think all compromises/limitations made for this are acceptable, and I can expand if I ever manage to be capable of that. The "later" purchases: Univer Inter, Knit, Cara, and Sum/Inv will all be purchased last, as replacements for Cre8audio Chips and Cellz (that I currently own), which is why they you see them placed in that order. Mixing will be done externally. I already own an active mixer that can handle (and produce) eurorack levels, and I will be building passive Mixers and Mults to compliment all this.
A rundown of of the rack from left to right (arranged generally by type of module): -Circuit Abbey G8(owned) : master clock divider to clock mainly externals/sync the system. -ES Disting MK4(owned): multifunction utility mainly as extra envelopes, sample & Hold, and quantizer, sometimes for reverb/delay. -Noise Engineering Univer Inter: the midi master, most functionality per hp, mainly for sequencing and cc control (I want to make use of at least some of my MPD26's faders and knobs). -After Later Knit: my main voice cuz Plaits, Duh. -After Later Cara: I want to have on-board generative sequencing and this seems hands down the best way to get it. -After Later Sum/Inv: gotta mix the relatively sparse modulation to make More Modulators -After Later Baker: my main Envelopes, taking the 2hp extra beyond Pique for that cv control. -NANO ALT: quad VCA /cascading Mixer, very important and the only dedicated set of vcas I will sacrifice hp for (gonna get some inline passive vcas/lpgs) -Befaco Pony VCO: in this placement because I will be using this module as a, shape-able LFO much of the time (hella multifunctionality) -Abyss Devices ATV: (may get 2hp Lfo instead) more modulation modulators, to invert and offset 2 signals independently (coupled with the sum/inv to make even more complex modulation.) -Sylph Byxa: external input (mainly for guitar) and all the things Ears is good for, namely exciting Rings. -Qubit Prism: filtedelay/comb/bit crush, so many things and they sound so good. Plus with it being clockable and having Freeze, a good sound design tool. -After Later nRings: RIINNNNGGSSSS After Later uBurst (owned momo version): Cuz clouds of course, can you tell I'm a mutable fan yet?

2024.05.09 21:48 PorcelainDalmatian Generative Sequences - Transpose Question

I've been trying to learn how to automatically transpose sequences in key using my modular rig, and getting totally confused in the process. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
Suppose I have a groovy little melodic sequence running on my Eurorack sequencer + oscillator in the key of C. After 64 bars I want a gate/triggeCV source to automatically transpose that sequence up a 4th to F, then after 32 bars transpose it automatically back down to C, then after 64 bars transpose up a 5th to G, then 16 bars later back down to C. Or maybe I want to have a random gate/trigger sequence doing the transposing - within the keys I chose.
I've watched videos on everything from voltage offset to logic modules to sample + hold to precision adders to transposing via my Bard Quartet quantizer, but I still don't understand how to accomplish this. I'm not interested in sequencing using outboard gear or manual switches - the whole idea is to have a gate/trigger sequencer (programmed or radom) do the transposing, so the patch "evolves" on it's own, but stays within a melodic/harmonic set of keys.
How are you all accomplishing this?
Anyone using the following, or am I off track?:
DAC Beers
Deeper A-182-2
Ladik T-240
Kaona Transpos
Thanks.
