AITAH for being upset that my boyfriend hasn’t asked about my injury

2024.05.16 03:21 ooopsithrewitaway AITAH for being upset that my boyfriend hasn’t asked about my injury

Throwaway, as indicated by the handle.
So Monday night I was out for dinner with my boyfriend on the patio. We were enjoying chicken wings and a burger and a couple beers. It was quite windy and unfortunately the staff did not secure the patio umbrellas around us properly and one was taken out of the picnic table by the wind, and thrown into the back of my head, and my shoulder knocking me into the picnic table. It hurt pretty bad and I was pretty dazed but thankfully our bill was comped and we left shortly after. I was supposed to be home right after someone because a friend was coming to pick up a couch from out of town from my house and my partner had school the next morning. My partner was insisting that I go to the hospital and was getting increasingly agitated when I insisted I had to go charge my phone (it had died) due to the fact that I had someone picking some thing up from my friends house that I had organized as a Facebook marketplace sale. They did not know each other. I either had to be there or let them know. It would’ve taken 10 minutes and then I would’ve gone to the hospital. It resulted in an hour long argument on the side of the road, which resulted in me going into a bar alone to charge my phone, and then taking a bus to the hospital alone and waiting at the hospital alone. I had sent him messages and called him a couple times while I was waiting in the hospital, hoping that he might come and show up. However, I got nothing back. The next morning he messaged me apologizing for how he spoke to me and I told him that I was quite taken aback about how he was, and that it really hurt me. I did not hear anything from him for the entire day until this morning. No questions about how I was feeling, how was work, if I was okay. He messaged me again this morning and apologized for speaking to me the way he did. He then continued to vent about school and not even ask or be concerned about my well-being, despite the fact that he was the one who insisted that I go to the hospital. I am not disagreeing with the fact that I should have gone to the hospital (which I did) but due to the fact that it was an hour long argument, when I just needed to charge my phone to be respectful to a friend of mine coming by, and he doesn’t even have the decency to message me asking how I’m doing over the past two days is really rubbing me the wrong way.
Am I the asshole for being bent out of shape about this?

It’s time to reassess the US dollar outlook. May 16, 2024
With US economic data delivering negative surprises at rates not seen over a year, with signs disinflationary forces are growing, it’s time for a rethink on the outlook for the US dollar. The era of selling rips rather than buying dips may be upon us.
By : David Scutt, Market Analyst
  • US economic data is surprising to the downside at rates not seen in over a year
  • Markets have less than two full Fed rate cuts priced in 2024, well below levels seen only a couple of months ago
  • US two-year note futures have broken a key level, indicating market concerns over rates remaining higher for longer may have passed
  • The US dollar index looks vulnerable to downside, closing below its 50-day moving average for the first time since March

Deciphering the US dollar signal though ample noise

Last week, I discussed the challenge of dealing with rampant noise in markets, making it difficult for even seasoned traders to decipher what signals should be listened to and what should be ignored. With so many opinions and so much information to digest, it can cloud your thinking. Even worse, it can reinforce underlying biases, making traders want to fight the tape rather than going with the flow. On that front, I’m as guilty as anyone at times. As such, sometimes, you need a noise eliminator.
When it comes to what I use to eliminate the noise, I nominated US two-year Treasury note futures as the perfect market instrument, combining combined fundamental and technical market views in one of the most highly liquid contracts globally to deliver a clean signal on how I should play the US dollar.

US short-end rates suggest higher for longer fears have passed

Following a session bursting at the seams with major economic data from the United States, headlined by consumer price inflation and retail sales reports for April, my noise eliminator has generated a signal that now may be the time to ditch the strong dollar narrative markets have been running with for much of the year.

For the first time since late November, US two-year note futures successfully broke and closed above 101*24, an important technical level it has done plenty of work either side of for several years. It also managed to slice through the 50 and 200-day moving averages, closing above both for the first time since March. The price action was in stark contrast to that earlier this month when soft non-farm payrolls and ISM services reports saw futures break through through this zone only to reverse right back through it. This time, the move stuck.
If you think back to late November, it was when the risk rally in markets really kicked off, resulting in substantial US dollar weakness. By breaking through this key level again, it suggests the latest higher-for-longer rates scare may have run its course, at least based on what traders thinking collectively.
Given the important relative interest rate differentials play in FX markets, this is important. Especially when you look at how the US dollar index fared on Wednesday following the move in US two-year note futures.

DXY hammered to multi-month lows, breaking key moving average

As my colleague Matt Simpson pointed out in his morning note, the US dollar index (DXY) suffered its largest decline of 2024, falling to the lowest level in five weeks. Not only that, the DXY sliced through its 50-day moving average like a hot knife thorough butter, closing below it for the first time in a couple of months.
https://preview.redd.it/mhc5x04dpo0d1.png?width=1835&format=png&auto=webp&s=98dcaa804d134a036f2171882d585d983777654b
The DXY was already looking unconvincing on the charts, putting in a double top before breaking the uptrend it had been sitting in since early March. With price momentum to the downside and fuel from curtailed Fed rate cut expectations at or nearing exhaustion point, the path of least resistance appears lower.

Selling dollar rips rather than buying dips, until the signal changes

Source: Refinitiv
Even as US economic data surprises threaten to slide to more than two-year lows, according to Cit’s closely watched measure, markets still have less than two full rate cuts price for the Fed this year. There is still plenty of room for markets to add to rate cut bets, a scenario that could easily see the DXY mirror its performance in late 2023 when it tumbled from above 107 to below 101.
https://preview.redd.it/fbyozrdhpo0d1.png?width=1835&format=png&auto=webp&s=31dd8f4c2bf59f68449d51839d31159b8fa58421
As long as US two-year Treasury not futures trade above what should now be horizontal support at 101*24, my approach will be to sell dollar rips rather than buy the dips.

2024.05.16 02:57 pyscle Update on Travel Tool Bag

Update on Travel Tool Bag
I cleaned out and updated my tool bag to reflect the input I received a few days ago. There was just too much stuff for a travel bag. Like fork service tools. I won’t do that on the road, so those tools went into the garage tool box. Like four pair of pliers and two pair of linesmen pliers.
So, left to right in the pouched side. BB extraction tool, hanger tool, scissors, screwdrivers, cable cutters, chain breaker, adjustable wrench, pliers, twin grip pliers, master link tool, hex keys, torx keys. Shock pump, brake hose tool, 3 way hex, fiber paste, grease, ratchet hex driver, hex bits, chain checker. Misc small tools, cassette tool, chainring tool, valve core tool, spoke wrench, multi tool (loaners, per a suggestion), spare bb bearings and headset bearings, tire levers, calipers. Laying down is a chain whip, pedal wrench, BB wrenches.
Back side is Stan’s, mineral oil, bleed kit, tubeless tape, spare small bits, helicopter tape, WD40, spare cassettes.
Still need pliers wrench, and flush cutters. I don’t think anything else would be an “on the road” tool I would need. (Until I do need it).

2024.05.16 02:56 BentleyDesignCo How do I fish this??

How do I fish this??
I’m trying to install a sub panel in my garage and I’m running some #2 Aluminum SER wire from my basement and up through the garage wall. The only problem is that I need to get this huge wire around the corner. I have been fighting with this for 2 nights now and I’m getting really frustrated. The stud on the insulation side is very close to the corner (where my drywall hole stops) and I can’t even get my drill in there good enough to get a great angle… and there is a space in the corner between the brick veneer and the framing so it doesn’t really have a tunnel to follow. It’s getting lost in that space and not fishing through…
Please help…

2024.05.16 02:52 spirestrike Tesla insurance

I currently live in DC but my family lives in VA where Tesla insurance is offered- should i get a DC license and buy the car in DC or keep my VA license and drive the car in VA?
pros: No EV sales tax (-$2400) cons: No Tesla insurance (~$350/mo regular insurance)
Is it legal to keep my VA license for this purchase even if I live in DC? Will Tesla insurance ever come to DC?

2024.05.16 02:44 chickenn5951 [SF] All or Nothing

this was inspired by the movie Gravity I would recommend watching it
All or Nothing
I woke to the sound of alarms blaring, I opened my eyes to see nothing just empty black i began to panic but then the planet below came into view, and I was relieved but the realization of my situation began to creep into my mind, I was alone… truly alone. I tried the radio but I knew it wouldn't work I was too far away from anything. Cursing my situation in rage I began to panic once again after about 20 minutes I calmed down. I had a problem (a very big problem) but this is what I was trained for, first things first… stop my rotation and figure out where I am and how long I can survive like this.
I am stable and not spinning anymore and I can survive for another 3 hours like this, but I still have no idea what my orbit is on the upside my last recorded relative speed is high enough that I'm in orbit and not going to be burnt to a crisp. I need to conserve oxygen so I lower the o2% but I begin to feel lightheaded so I turn it back up. It wouldn't be good to make decisions like that. “I need to find a station or an eleva—” Something caught my eye i rotated myself to see what it was i gasped at my luck, it was an old satellite. I used a little bit of my dwindling supply of fuel to get to it (if I could figure out what satellite it was then I could find out where I am). I slowly grabbed onto the satellite I saw a plate with the words “Mars Global Surveyor” I immediately connected my straps to the handles and pulled out my holo map that shows all objects in a close orbit to our craft and found it. I let out a sigh of relief because I am heading in the direction of an elevator, only one problem, I'm moving too slow by the time I get close enough to get to the elevator I would be long dead.
10 minutes passed and I'm still trying to think of a way to get enough velocity to not die of oxygen deprivation. I began to yell my heart rate began to elevate i let go of the handles and punched the satellite sending myself in the opposite direction, when it hit me, use the satellite as a counterweight to launch myself, i could maybe gain an extra 10m/s of velocity and I could also set myself up with a better orbit for a closer pass with the elevator. Anyway, I'm out of time… it's all or nothing
I detached my straps and got rid of my now-empty main oxygen tank all I have now is my emergency tank with only 2 hours of oxygen. I'm ditching all the weight I can so I can get more velocity. I put my feet against the hull of the satellite and with my hands still holding on in 5 seconds I'll jump like my life depends on it. My heads-up display showed a countdown. 5, 4, 3, the seconds felt like minutes 2, 1 I jumped, and as I left the Surveyor behind. I used my maneuvering thrusters to orient and adjust my orbit for an intercept.
Once again I'm floating through space. I got a little bit more speed than expected at 10.8m/s. I begin to lower my o2 to conserve oxygen giving me the largest possible margin for error. As time passed, each minute felt lonelier than the last. I checked and rechecked my oxygen levels, trying to eke out every last breath. The loneliness gnawed at me, a relentless companion in this vast emptiness. I thought of everyone I got separated from, wondering if they even knew I was out here, still alive. As reality set in my hope diminished faster than my oxygen and I began to question the point of all of this. But even as despair threatened to drown me that voice of determination and resilience continued to echo throughout my mind and that's all I needed to know that there is still a way, even if it's a 1 in a billion chance that I survive I'm starting to like my odds.
In the distance, I could see the 5 cables that connect the ground and space i started my minuscule preparations consisting of grabbing the straps that I saved connecting them to my suit, and starting an ETA timer. As the clock ticked down time began to slow. I was still too far from the cables to make contact and I needed my fule to slow down, but I planned for this and I still had the straps that I had when I connected to the Surveyor right before I passed the first cable I braked as much speed as possible using the last of my fule and threw one of the straps around one of the cables and caught the other end that swung around the cable. My heart began to settle but then the strap snapped, unable to control my movement I drifted into another cable and grabbed ahold i used my second strap to connect myself. But, the struggle wasn't over I began to slowly let myself slip down the cable, and after 500 meters of sliding I reached a maintenance catwalk where there was an emergency alert button. I sat down after hitting the button and As my heart rate began to settle I finally noticed the blaring alarm that indicated my oxygen was almost completely gone and I passed out.
When I came to, I was lying on the cold metal catwalk. The alarms had stopped, replaced by a distant sound of machinery reverberating throughout the cables. My head throbbed. With a groan, I pushed myself up and fell, struggling against the weight of exhaustion.
The emergency alert button I'd pressed blinked nearby letting me know it worked. feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Help was on the way, I hoped. As I waited, my mind raced with thoughts. How long had I been out? Minutes? Hours? My oxygen was almost depleted when I passed out; I could only pray it hadn't run out completely.
Footsteps approached, breaking the silence.
A voice reverberated through the ground distant yet reassuring. "We've got a signal, someone's out here!"
Relief flooded through me. I'd been found. I managed to sit up, weakly waving my arms to signal my location. Soon, they arrived, faces covered by helmets, but their urgency was all I needed to know. They rushed to my side, checking my vital signs and oxygen levels. I was hoisted onto a stretcher, surrounded by flashing lights and the sound of people's voices.
"Stabilize him and get him back to the station," one of the rescuers ordered.
The journey back was a blur of motion and noise. I drifted in and out of consciousness, the weight of my ordeal finally catching up with me. When I woke again, I was in a sterile white room, surrounded by monitors and medical equipment. A doctor stood nearby, monitoring my condition.
"You gave us quite a scare," the doctor said with a smile. "But you're going to be alright."
Relief flooded through me again.
"Where... am I?" I managed to ask, my voice hoarse.
"You're aboard Anchor 9 a orbital platform," the doctor replied. "We picked you up just in time. You're lucky to be alive."
I nodded, the reality of what had happened sinking in. I had faced the vast emptiness of space and survived. As I lay there, surrounded by the beeping of monitors, I knew one thing for certain: I was not alone. Even in the darkest reaches of space, there were others who would come to your aid, a reminder that no matter how dire the situation, there was always hope.

Mk2 Mod 1 - What Ammo to use?
Hey all! Got my 1943 Winny Mk 2 Mod 1 in and need help on the ammo side of things. I understand I need to stick to lower pressure NATO 7.62x51 M80 Ball type stuff. I have also seen that many ".308" ammo offer pressures/ FPS etc that are less than current Lake City M80 Ball stuff.
Any definition on what to look for or what to buy commercially to feed this 'ol girl? AAC has their .308 150gr ammo on sale for .75/rnd which seems good. Was also looking at GGG and the SalTech 7.62x51.
I know there is some controversy on what to shoot. I don't want to blow up my gun but I plan to shoot the snot outta it. Any help or guidance on specially what to look for IE: "Make sure the ammo you buy has xxyy SAAMI Spec pressure" or "Buy PMC XTac 7.62x51 NATO" etc would be much appreciated. I don't reload (no time) so I'd like to buy commercial and also play with some match type stuff. I have a pretty big cache of 175gr Variog m118 style ammo as well as Federal GMM 168grs I'd like to try.
BTW: Teaser pic attached. WIll post more when I have a min
Thank you!

2024.05.16 02:12 sheriffderek Massive Skill Gap: Are Coding Bootcamps and New Developers Missing the Mark? A recent chat with DonTheDeveloper.

A few weeks ago, someone posted a link to one of Don’s rants and I went through and commented on each of the points. I can't find that post, but I had copied it over here: https://www.reddit.com/perpetualeducation/comments/1c7k9re/donthedeveloper_on_a_rant_about_how_aspiring/
We had a chat about it. Here’s the video/podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHmqZkC3LqU&lc
Don titled it: There's a MASSIVE Skill Gap Among New Developers
I'll attempt to write a bit about that - (even though we went over many other topics - and I'm having a hard time grouping them)
It’s easy to simplify this into “the market” or “the boot camp” or “the tech stack” or "what's fair" or "the resume" - but I think people are missing the various multidimensional aspects at play. Is it:
Is it all of those things - and more? (Yes). And it's "the student" too." We're all different (cue reading rainbow moment). But it's true. Some of us are slower. Some of us are faster but miss the details. Some of us have a background that alignes neatly with tech. Some of us already know what job we want and why - and other people just want to make a good bet on a stable career. No matter what zone you're in, we still have to face the music - and deal with (trigger alert) - the truth.
The market is real. Companies aren't aggressively hireing random barely capable developers right now (like they have in the past). They're scared and holding on to their money. They also kinda realized they were spending more money on middle management and probably developers too - and are going to need some time to figure out how to make profitable businesses (or how to keep getting more VC funding to burn through).
But if there's a huge gap between your skills/experience and what it takes to do the job you're applying for, none of the other factors matter.
Many people choose a coding boot camp based on superficial factors like the price, the timeline, the website design, and the sales pitch. They often don't consider other important aspects because they simply don't know better. This isn’t unlike any other product or service or school.
Some people pick out a boot camp and learn a bunch of awesome stuff and they go out there and start a new career and for some reason, they don’t come back to Reddit to tell us about it. There are some legit colleges and boot camps and other alternative learning paths out there - that are really great. It's just a fact.
If you read the bootcamp marketing, paid your tuition, went through the steps they lined out, and came out the other end unable to get that job they promised you, well - that’s awkward. Maybe for you, it’s that simple. If you feel like you got a raw deal, I’m sorry. There are some businesses that should be ashamed of themselves - but they won't be. All you can do is warn other people. That’s over now. We can only work with the present.
For people who really want to work in this industry - they'll keep moving forward: at the end of the day, this is the playing field. So, if you want to get off the bench, we’re going to have to design a path to that – and you might need to rethink some of your assumptions.
It could certainly be said that new developers are now expected to know about–and have experience with–a lot more things.
Are the expectations that someone brand new to development is going to be able to get a job unreasonable? Well, does it matter what someone’s opinion about that is? You either want the job - or you don’t. And you need to know how to do the job, or no one will hire you. Do you need to know everything on this huge list to get an entry level position https://roadmap.sh/javascript ? (no) (in fact - close that - and don’t ever look at it again)
When I started (at the age of ~30) (in ~2011), you needed to know HTML, CSS, (Probably some PhotoShop to get your assets), maybe a little PHP (and likely HTTP and more about URLs and request types and forms), FTP and DNS to get your site hosted, and maybe some JavaScript. You might have used jQuery to help out or Knockout.js. And you had to know how to hook up a database and MySQL and probably a CMS or some sort. And maybe your code was a mess or maybe it adhered to some common patterns. But that was life. Not everyone needed to know all those things. Some people would focus more on getting the mockup into the HTML and CSS. Other people might focus on the server and the PHP or Perl or Java. There were all sorts of jobs and some of them were done by people with a formal education in Computer Science studies and other people just figured it out as needed. There was a lot of work to be done. Lots of custom stuff to build and maintain. And it was just normal to learn more incrementally as the years went by. You could totally get a job knowing just HTML and CSS (and you still can BTW). There was still an infinite amount of things you could know. But it seemed to ramp up naturally because we were closer to the grain of The Web.
So, what do people learn now? (Generally) They rush through some HTML and CSS really quick (which actually teaches them more bad habits than good). They rarely learn about DNS or FTP because a tutorial showed them how to type a few random things into a terminal to have their site on a free service and they don’t buy a domain name because there’s a free subdomain. Apparently paying for anything is for suckers and companies that don't give you things for free are evil capitalistic pigs who should be shut down. New devs don’t know much about servers because their text editor is actually running an advanced web application behind the scenes that starts a virtual server and runs all sorts of other things they don’t understand outside of that context - like connecting to version control, opening a terminal pane, SSH, code completion and typeahead, autoimport completion, AI suggestions and other additional layers like typescript and many other linters to tell them where all their errors are. If they couldn't use VSCode - they might be dead in the water. It can feel like you’re just a bag of meat being yelled at by VSCode as you try and solve the errors and remove all the red lines. And we do all of these - to put the training wheels in place.
And I’m not saying that a LAMP stack doesn’t have it’s own level of black-box and mysteries with how Apache handles your HTTP requests and MySQL starts up it’s own server - but we have to be comfortable with some level of abstraction or we’d be writing all ones and zeros at the machine code level.
So, the new developer is manning this huge stack of tools unknowingly, but they do get a lot of benefits. We can spin up a pretty complex web application with a front-end to make requests, a server to talk to a database and other third-party systems and respond back to the client/front-end, and an auth layer to make sure people are properly signing in and only seeing what they need to see. There are abstractions for HTML and CSS and JS that put that template logic and controller logic into a neat little component file (which is great) and that component file is properly registered based on file name conventions and everything gets set up in this larger system of conventions that all happen behind the scenes in the framework architecture. So, as a new developer - you can really ride the framework and know hardly anything about how it works - as long as you know the language to speak to this layer of the abstraction (the API).
These aren't just arbitrary add-ons that people made to complicate things. They solve real-world problems. The new dev won't really understand what they are - but I'm not saying we should just get rid of them. They allow us to move faster and to build interfaces and business logic without having to write tons of behind the scenes repeated structural code by hand. And with those training wheels, we have more time on our hands. We can also add in the chance to further define our programs with safety measures and plan automated testing routines, and built-in documentation of our code base. We can keep adding layers and layers or pull in more and more third-party tools. It’s pretty amazing. But what people end up learning is how to maintain that configuration - and there’s only so much time - and so, they end up learning 10% of all the things you used to need/want to know. And some jobs have a path for that. But there's likely going to be a long-term cost for you.
Arguably - it doesn’t matter how much “code” you know - and making things is what matters. And that’s true. That’s what matters to the business that pays you. And to the school that wants you to feel good about your progress. But I think you should protect your learning journey. It’s for you. It’s going to be what you carry on throughout the years and it’s a seed.
Getting proficient with a popular tech stack - when the market is booming proved to be a great decision for boot camps and their students. And I'd bet that the majority of people mean well.
But when it's not booming, students are in it for the wrong reasons, schools have tightened up and moved online, the market has plenty of devs who already have 5+ years working with that framework/stack -- then all of the sudden - the surface-level fake-it-till-you-make-it path (as much as I respect that) doesn't work as well. You're going to have to put in some more energy.
When it's obvious that you can't build an HTML page with semantic markup, that's accessible, and has a universally pleasurable experience, and you can't write CSS without a UI framework or do anything custom, it's obvious. You should be aware of that gap. When you've never owned a domain name or setup a deployment pipeline, you should be aware of that gap. When your personal website looks like your boot camp gave it to you, you should be aware of how that looks. When you can't take a server-side scripting language like Python or Go or PHP and build out a little personal website framework - you should be aware of that gap. When you can't plan a project and don't have experience with diagrams and explaining things, you need to be aware of that gap. When you've never written about your process or created any case-studies to explain your projects, you should be aware of that gap. When you're only proof of work is the class assignments, you should be aware of that gap. When your github history goes dead after the last day of class, you should be aware that we'll see that. When you claim to no nothing about visual design and that's for someone else on the team - you should be aware of that gap. If you refuse to turn on your camera and just want to be left alone, you should be aware of that huge gap. If you can't build a little prototype app without React, they you probably don't JavaScript, and you should be aware of that gap. And there will ALWAYS be a gap. There's always more to learn. So - it's an important skill to know what to learn and why - and when. You can't learn everything. And if you're having a hard time finding work right now, then get clear on your goal. Stop applying for general "Software engineer" jobs you aren't ready for. Narrow your scope. Figure out a job that you think you can do confidently. Get clear on how big your gap is and what you need to learn to get centered and confident with your toolset. Ideally, it's fun. Try and ignore all the doom and gloom and focus on your own personal goal.
It's not just the market. Too many people are applying for jobs they aren't anywhere near qualified to do. And it probably doesn't feel good. But luckily - you can learn the things and get back on track.

2024.05.16 02:11 CAPSLOCKING_REALITY I might have shifted "here" before my account was even created.

I might have made a (tiny) shift to here before my account was even created.
Ok, first of all, apologies for yet another long-ass novel from me, and for not posting this with a clear takeaway in mind. I don't find small unintentional shift posts like "my carpet changed color!!" the most exhilarating either, but it's my turn! Hopefully I manage to put enough substance into it with my words, I just had to share this asap.
So come today, I'm with family and a specific "number" comes up in conversation. I don't want to mention what this is due to privacy something-something - but, this number is something that's pretty significant for me. Someone in my family gets this number wrong. I very gracefully correct them... but they double-down on it. This is where red flags start going off in my head, so I just deflect the conversation and say I might be going crazy (and consider that possibility myself lol). Now, I have to reiterate, this number is pretty significant, and has been reinforced throughout my whole life, it relates to something, it's not just an abstract number in a password or something. Like imagine the months of the year changing order. All of a sudden, I find out that I'm all alone in this battle. Everyone else is singing the same note and I'm tonedeaf. That number has actually changed in reality, for no one else but me.
Ok, as I established, forgetting or brain fog is out of the question. The other possibility except for shifting, is actually going nuts, and I feel surprisingly sane for a crazy person. Although I guess that's what every crazy person thinks, so dear voices in my head, please confirm I'm not crazy in the comments haha. Anyways, so all of this got me thinking, when would the shift had happened? When was the last time this number got "tested" in front of my eyes like this and came out correct? And did something out of the ordinary happen in that time frame, besides me falling asleep in the middle of a method every night lol.
And this leads me into sidestory time. I've mentioned this story before, but this might have reinforced it. You see, before I made this account I was a pure lurker. I wasn't necessarily writing off shifting, more like I was still in a consideration phase - is this something I want in my life, what would I do with it, and is it worth becoming active in the community, having yet another distaction to adhd over, etc. (yes). That was my status quo, until a pretty complicated incident happened in my close circle. Again, sorry for leaving it up to the imagination, but when something involves someone else I'm close to, I'm a private person. What it boiled down to in the end was that I was forced to choose between actions that didn't feel like me, and that idea was stressing me out to infinity.
That very night is when all considerations went out the window, I had come into a new potential avenue to solve my unsolvable issues - shifting - and I was taking out all the brakes off the rollercoaster. I just fell asleep in utter desperation, repeating something along the lines of "I really don't need this to happen rn, I'll just shift to change it and never even know". Why the "never even know"? I still regret that part, but I guess it was because I was still in the consideration period back then. I was worried that shifting might potentially make life more meaningless somehow, like make life and free will feel more fake. So unfortunately, as much as I go on to retroactively prove to myself it worked, I'll never really know that it did. I set myself up. But yeah, if it wasn't clear, the next day I found out that voila - I had actually really misunderstood the incident and everything turns out trivial. Wow, another case where everyone else is in agreement on reality and I'm the only one out of order lol. What led me to this story, is that the last time I can remember comparing that previously mentioned number in my head, with itself in the external world, happened before that shifting incident. So I have a hunch I may not have unintentionally shifted, but that number changing is just a side product of that night. Why it changed or what it means? Still can't answer, that mystery isn't getting solved.
TL:DR; A huge thing changed for me. And it's possibly not even an unintentional shift, but connected to a desperate attempt to shift before I was even interested in shifting or had this account. In that attempt I cucked present-self not to know I shifted, so I might just have brain worms.
But anyways, what are the takeaways from this, what can be done with this information? The question isn't rhetorical, I'm really curious to hear your thoughts. As with everything, there must be a way to utilize the awareness of small or unintentional shifts.
What I could come up with was: First, the most obvious one - to reinforce the ideas behind LOA. After a successful shift, logically LOA becomes more natural to the shifter. Although unintentional/unbeknownst to me in this case, it still gives some rise to the idea. And this doesn't have to apply only to me, hopefully by reading this post, another tiny crack opens up in your own doubts too.
The other thing I'm considering, is whether I should try changing this number back. It's already bugging me anyways and it hasn't even been a day. My memories of my entire aware life were of a different number. So maybe it's possible that shifting will come to me easier if I just tried to change this one thing back before I'm used to it, rather than going for an entirely different reality first? I honestly want to hear someone more experienced's opinion on this, has it been more effortless for anyone to make smaller changes? Leave aside the fact that it's technically manifestation at that point, or that technically in my case I might have already shifted intentionally before.
And that's all I have in mind for now. Again, sorry for long, I tried to jerk my funny bone a little bit so hopefully that makes up for it 🍀

2024.05.16 02:07 majorex64 On the herd and the fire

If ever there was a place to run away from your problems, it must be Primia. A particular herd of cattle has been doing it for hundreds of years, according to the locals. See, there's this one plant everyone in Primia depends on called spraybus, the firefighting bamboo. The stuff sprays water out of its branches in a fine mist when things get too hot, and it's what half the continent owes its lack of blisters to, in the dry season. Except one day this burgeoning herd of cattle gets a taste for spraybus, and starts munching the shoots down to the ground. Working their way across the plain, belligerently knocking down the thin towers and chewing them to bits, like a crazed- if somewhat picky- army of woodchippers.
No one knows what sparked the fire- in Primia, could have been someone sneezed funny. But a blaze that surely would have been snuffed out by the dedicated green shoots of the community roared up and filled the void left by the grazing herd.
One need only imagine what a darkened sky, bright tongues peeking from behind the tree trunks, and stinging kisses of ember would do to the delicate bovine mind. As one is keen to do, the herd frantically galloped away, at approximately the speed of fear, which unlike traditional speeds, cannot be measured in inches or seconds. It must have worked their appetites, for amazingly they couldn't stop their feast of spraybus as they ran. With the regular volunteers being eaten, the fire had one clear direction to spread, and spread it did. Flames matching the pace of the herd, the two lines of tumult swept across the continent. They climbed up hills that make calves ache (the muscles, and the children), snacked at the top, and rolled down the other side full. They maneuvered around spires and cenotes like a less coordinated flock of birds. Unfortunately for the ones who fell in, they also lack the birds' ability to fly.
Unwittingly luring their fiery pursuer ever closer, the herd followed the curve of woods and plains. They circum-sprinted the arid Denova Valley, a place hotter than fire but spared its burn by a lack of trees. Local legend says the wildfire marched its ranks right up to the valley proper, got one lungful of dusty air, and refused to take another step, protesting that "it's too damn hot."
Thanks to the particular geography of the central Primian landscape, the herd ran right around in a circle, back to where it started. It only took a year. And that whole year, the fire burned. it smoldered. It roared. It never lasted more than a few days in any one spot, but for every hoof print made by the Great Graze, the Great Blaze left a glowing ember. They say on the second lap, it almost gave out, having consumed too much fuel in its first pass. But primian plants grow quickly, and provide just enough desiccated cover to feed the hungry tempest year after year, like an inevitable tax.
And like taxes, the Great Blaze does give some benefit to those it extorts. Fresh nutrient rich ash promotes rapid growth in the months following its passing. Many a fruiting tree use the storm-like convections to spread their seeds, and the marshmallow industry sees a yearly boom of sales.
So the herd and the fire have been running in circles ever since, like two clockhands quite confused on who was supposed to be the hour or the minute.

2024.05.16 02:06 raytechknowledge Help Needed - Selling My Car

Hello All,
I am planning to sell my 2018 Kia Sorento. Should I go for a full detail, change it's tires and brakes? Would these increase my sale price or give me a better bargain capability?
My car has some stains in upholstery (have a toddler), and during a previous routine maintenance work authorized dealer asked to change RF & LB brakes & car tires.
Just trying to find out whether spending money on these will increase my sale price by a good amount or I should just sell it as it is?
I am trying to sell to CARMAX and other authorized dealers.

2024.05.16 01:50 SplitNorth6648 Got in an Accident

I've noticed in the Scion TC Reddit that a lot of people recently been getting car crashes and I thought oh hopefully I doesn't happen to me. It just happened to me but I got very lucky. The car in front of me made a sudden stop and I had a slam on my brakes and the red Camry behind me was going too fast and a rear-ended me. The jolting felt very hard and I was sure my rear bumper was gone. We both pulled to the side and we examined the damage and there was no damage to my car or his car. I'm very grateful for my car and Toyota.

2024.05.16 01:50 bannapole86 Manager responded to the news I have heightened anxiety at work, with a list of what I'm doing wrong

Looking for advice really. I work in a very busy high end travel agent. I have worked there for 8 years and I'm quite experienced now. There is a culture in my job of 'going over and above' and squeezing the last bit of work out because that might just make a sale, even if you end up staying late. For the last year or so, we have been short staffed. There is normally a team of 5, but we are down to 3 people, and I now only work 4 days a week as I have young children. This has made it overall a much more intense experience, and I basically feel like I have no down time as my work eats in to my family time, and I also have the mental load of all that family life with under 5s brings, on top of my all consuming work. There is also a not a huge culture of support as the attitude is usually 'everyone is busy' so just get on with it. Our manager is younger than me, and has recently been promoted to the position. She is quite inexperienced and unsure, but has good intentions.
Things have been getting incredibly busy at work and they are requiring more and more from us. Coupled with a few unexpected life events, my base level of anxiety has increased exponentially, to the point where I have been struggling recently. For context, I also have a history of clinical anxiety and have suffered from panic disorder in the past. However I have worked very hard with CBT and treatment and it hasn't been a problem for me for the past few years (until I had kids)
I am friends with my manager, and decided to share that I had been struggling with anxiety recently, and this came up during the discussion of how high pressure and overwhelming the workload had been recently. Then a few days later she went away for managers training with some old hands in the business. These colleagues I would describe as rather hard-nosed, career driven and with a tendancy to spout the company policy instead of being human. What followed seemed to be a regurgitating of some direction she had been given by these colleagues. I received two emails. One, rather patronisingly talked about the need to 'go back to basics' with screen shots of how organised some of our purpose-built software was for myself and the other employee. A shaming if you will. (Think a dash board helping you to manage tasks- side note being this program is so slow and not fit for purpose, it actually slows me down. I use it for its purpose but don't have time to update each of the notifications on each task)And a huge long 'to-do' list of how I could improve. Organise my emails according to HER method (I have ADHD and I have a method that works for my brain) if I don't have time for things, then MAKE TIME basically, and a link to therapy. Then a meeting appointment to discuss how these things will have improved my anxiety at work. I feel as though they are missing the point, of course some of my programs are a bit disorganised, we are so overworked and held to impossible standards, but that is never acknowledged.
At first I felt attacked, as my manager brought it up verbally Infront of another colleague, before the email, and when I pushed back, proceeded to give me a verbal dressing down about why I CANNOT have my emails like that- I felt unfairly punished and talked down to.
Then when I received the email, I just felt hurt, that first of all they had all been talking about my anxiety, then scrutinised how I do my job, then given me a list of things I had to do and I magically wouldn't be anxious. It felt very patronising, exposing, and invalidating. Then almost felt a bit insulting when a meeting was scheduled in to discuss how her magical tips had worked.
Now I am friends with my manager and I don't want to create a bad atmosphere in what is already an intense office. However I do think that they won't understand unless I help them understand, but I'm not sure how to respond to this without seeming like I am being difficult and non-compliant. If sorting out my emails could fix my anxiety I would've bloody done that years ago, but the fact is, all that has happened is that I feel even more anxious about now having a another big list of tasks, and feeling like I'm failing even more. I feel anxious about the additional hoops I now have to jump through, in addition to all the work I'm struggling to get done.
Ideally we need another staff member and for me to be unburdened with some of the work. But now I have more. Any advice on how to manage this would be welcome.

2024.05.16 01:43 realbenlaing ISO bras with narrow or low gore for extremely close set chest (UK size 30 E/F)

Hihi, so basically, as the title says, i’m looking for bra recs for an extremely close set chest. As in, even without a bra, i could easily hold a pencil between my breasts, gravity be damned. I already know that plunge bras are my friend, but i find for a lot of them the gore is still either too high or too wide which ends up being really uncomfortable after a few minutes, so i really need as low or as narrow of a gore as possible, and am hoping some of you here might have some specific suggestions. I would also prefer something either with spacer foam or light lining because my nipples always sit right at the seams of unlined bras, and since i have nipple piercings, they end up looking extra lumpy without some level of lining under thin shirts, and that’s not always the vibe.
Size info: It’s been a while since i last measured myself but my calculator size from around this time last year was UK 30E/F or US 30DDD/G. I’m currently wearing 30E and it’s been fine for the most part, but i’ve gained a bit of weight so i might end up trying both 30E and 30F, but the change hasn’t been enough to need to remeasure entirely. I would also be open to trying options in my sister size (US 32DD) for the sale of having more affordable options available (located in canada), as i am a broke grad student who’s balling on a budget rn.
Shape info: Dense tissue, round shape, centre fullness, moderate projection and i think tall roots. I’ve been having a hard time judging if i have wide or narrow roots because none of the pictures quite look like me and i apparently need to be spoon fed this information. I know that i’ve generally had poor luck with balcony styles due to wires sitting uncomfortably (both the gore and the sides) but i do have breast tissue on my sides if that means anything. Cannot stress enough how close set i am though, my breasts are naturally almost touching so gore tacking in styles that prevent cleavage are borderline painful even in the right size. I also have very little “squish” so i genuinely can’t do a high gore unless i went up several band sizes. So cleavage is inevitable if i want to be comfortable.
Currently fitting bras: Atm, my best fitting bras are the natori feathers plunge and freya offbeat moulded demi plunge, both 30E. I also have a freya fancies plunge which i thought fit well but i’ve been noticing lately that the gore does irritate me after a few hours, and that it still tacks down to my sternum but also sits a bit on my breast tissue. Not sure if it’s due to needing to go up a cup or if it’s not the right style
The wacoal b’tempted and freya hallie both look promising for gore size but i haven’t tried either on. When i look up plunge/demi bras though, most of them look like they’d still have either too high or too wide of a gore, so i’d appreciate any suggestions of where else to look!
Editing to add: I also have a Chantelle Norah Comfort Underwire bra in a 32D and while it’s obviously not even my sister size (cups would still be too small and too shallow), it is still comfortable. So i am open to a slightly imperfect style/fit in a 32DD (ie slightly wider or taller gore) since the looser band would probably help alleviate some of the pressure/discomfort of wires sitting inside the imf, but i wouldn’t spend more then $40-50CAD on a bra that was both the wrong size and style, while i would be willing to spend $80-100CAD on a bra that was both in my true size and met my style/shape/comfort requirements.

OUSD (R&E) CRITICAL TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Advanced Materials

The technology within this topic is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), 22 CFR Parts 120-130, which controls the export and import of defense-related material and services, including export of sensitive technical data, or the Export Administration Regulation (EAR), 15 CFR Parts 730-774, which controls dual use items. Offerors must disclose any proposed use of foreign nationals (FNs), their country(ies) of origin, the type of visa or work permit possessed, and the statement of work (SOW) tasks intended for accomplishment by the FN(s) in accordance with the Announcement. Offerors are advised foreign nationals proposed to perform on this topic may be restricted due to the technical data under US Export Control Laws.

OBJECTIVE: The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) seeks to promote responsive, best value supplies of related materials, components, and systems to Department of Defense (DoD) customers and other DoD stakeholders. DLA investigates advancements in technologies and business processes for new and improved materials, more efficient means of their production, and competitive domestic supply chains which will lead to greater innovation in current and future defense systems combined with benefits to other commercial and government applications.
DLA is interested in exploring future defense industrial base uses for scandium (Sc) because of its unique properties as a pure metal and, as an alloying agent, to significantly increase the performance of traditional aluminum (Al) alloys, and therefore expand the use of Al alloys. Further benefits include, substituting aluminum-scandium (Al-Sc) alloys for incumbent expensive materials (e.g., titanium) and/or replacing material forms that are both costly and difficult to source (e.g., forging, complex machined parts, and extrusions), as Al-Sc alloys are highly compatible with additive manufacturing techniques.
Scandium can impart high strength properties to Al alloys which allows for reduced weight designs (compared to traditional Al alloy) and components for a wide range of defense platforms and other military items. Al-Sc alloys exhibit increased resistance to high temperature and corrosion when compared to common Al alloys. Of further interest, is the high weldability of Al-Sc alloy. Alloys with high weldability can reduce manufacturing labor and other costs associated with joining components and structures. Al-Sc alloy can be especially useful when used as a powder or wire in additive manufacturing. Potential DoD applications for Al-Sc alloy include the production and sustainment of missiles, aircraft, space launch vehicles, satellites, solider systems, military ground vehicles, marine applications, and other weapon systems (e.g., small arms and artillery).
While Sc metal has many attractive material characteristics, its cost is frequently considered prohibitive for Al alloying purposes compared to other alloying elements. In addition, the supply of Sc metal and compounds is limited and highly concentrated in a small number of foreign countries including China and Russia. As such, there is reluctance to develop wide scale uses for Al-Sc alloys for many applications including DoD weapon systems and large-scale non-defense applications (e.g., commercial aviation and automotive manufacturing).

In the United States mining operations for Sc ore are being planned and developed to feed a domestic supply chain and, recently, new sources of Sc now exist in Canada (an important member country of DoD’s National Technology Industrial Base). There are also established defense industrial base companies and other businesses in both countries that can significantly contribute to development and commercialization of Al-Sc supply chains for both military and commercial applications.

Given the important properties of Sc, and in anticipation of increased affordable domestic supply, DLA is interested in engaging small businesses with the capability to develop and expand expertise and industrial base production capacity of Sc-containing materials, especially in areas relevant to the supply of Al-Sc alloy components for DoD end-uses.

Specific materials, processing and manufacturing areas of interest include:

  • Raw material refining
  • High purity Sc metals, compounds, and alloys
  • Additive manufacturing feedstock
  • Additively manufactured DoD systems prototype parts

Research and Development (R&D) efforts selected under this topic shall demonstrate and involve a degree of risk where the technical feasibility of the proposed work has not been fully established. Further, proposed efforts must be judged to be at a Technology and/or Manufacturing Readiness Level (TRL/MRL) 6 or less, but greater than TRL/MRL 3 to receive funding consideration.

TRL 3. (Analytical and Experimental Critical Function and/or Characteristic Proof of Concept)
TRL 6. (System/Subsystem Model or Prototype Demonstration in a Relevant Environment)

DESCRIPTION: DLA seeks SBIR project opportunities in new and innovative materials, processing, and manufacturing of Sc compounds, Sc metal, Al-Sc alloy and master alloys, and related areas of additive manufacturing. While Al and Sc are the primary metals of interest for this solicitation, it is anticipated that additional alloying elements may be included to tailor the final alloy properties. Specific areas of interest include:

  • Processing mining ores (and/or scrap waste streams) into high purity Sc compounds (ex., Sc-oxide) feedstock for production of pure Sc metal, Al-Sc alloy, master alloys, etc.
  • Commercial production of high purity Sc metal (domestic feedstock preferred)
  • Commercial production of Al-Sc alloy powder and wire for additive manufacturing
  • Demonstrating additively manufactured Al-Sc alloy parts for DoD weapon systems.

DLA seeks opportunities that include strong industry supply chain collaboration with established materials companies relevant to the above areas of interest in Sc materials processing, as well as strong collaboration with traditional or non-traditional DoD weapon systems suppliers. DLA similarly desires SBIR opportunities that include collaboration with interested DoD weapon system program offices and/or relevant DoD RDT&E organizations.

PROJECT DURATION and COST: Proposals exceeding these limits will not be evaluated.
PHASE I: Not to exceed a duration of 12 months and cost of $100,000.
PHASE II: Not to exceed a duration of 24 months and cost of $1,000,000.

PHASE I: Phase I will demonstrate proof of concept in one or more of the above areas of interest in scandium materials and processing. A technology development and commercialization roadmap will be produced along with a preliminary business case analysis for transition and industrial scale up. Strong industry supply chain collaboration with established materials companies relevant to the above areas of interest in scandium materials and processing is expected, along with involvement of one or more traditional or non-traditional DoD weapon systems suppliers. Strong support from one or more interested DoD weapon system program offices and/or relevant DoD RDT&E organization required.

PHASE II: Depending on Phase I results, Phase II will consist of establishing pilot scale or low-rate production of technologies that are successfully demonstrated in Phase I. Additional activities may include further materials and processing testing, characterization, and data base development of related materials and processes that can be used by future producers of scandium materials of interest (e.g., compounds, metals, alloys, and master alloys as well as related additive manufacturing powders and wire, and fabricators of aluminum scandium end-items). Development of a detailed business case analysis and commercialization plan will be required.

Strong industry supply chain collaboration with established materials companies relevant to the above areas of interest in scandium materials and processing, along with involvement from traditional and/or non-traditional DoD weapon systems suppliers, is required, along with strong support from interested DoD weapon system program offices and/or relevant DoD RDT&E organizations.

Innovative materials and processes, and commercially viable sources of their supply, shall be developed with the goal to readily transition to production in support of DoD and its supply chains.
PHASE III DUAL USE APPLICATIONS: Phase III is any proposal that derives from, extends or completes a transition from a Phase I or II project. Phase III proposals will be accepted after the completion of Phase I and or Phase II projects.
There is no specific funding associated with Phase III, except Phase III is not allowed to use SBISTTR coded funding. Any other type of funding is allowed.
Phase III proposal Submission. Phase III proposals are emailed directly to DLA SBIR2@dla.mil. The PMO team will set up evaluations and coordinate the funding and contracting actions depending on the outcome of the evaluations. A Phase III proposal should follow the same format as Phase II for the content and format. There are, however, no limitations to the amount of funding requested, or the period of performance. All other guidelines apply.

Transition Plan
  1. Period of Performance: TBD
  2. Budget: $ TBD

This Phase of the project should include:
  1. Delivery of a production level product to J68 ready for integration into the overall DLA Enterprise system.
  2. Develop a sustainment plan to support the delivered system for the lifetime of the program.

  1. Conclusions Noting that AA7075-T6 is widely used by both fixed- and rotary-wing military aircraft, as well as in space structures, the initial objective of this study was to directly compare crack growth in identical AA7075-T6 and Scalmalloy specimens tested in the same servohydraulic facility under the same stresses and by the same operators. The experimental data reveal that Boeing Space, Intelligence, and Weapons Systems AM-built Scalmalloy appears to be more damage tolerant than the conventionally built aluminium alloy AA7075-T6. As a result, Boeing Space, Intelligence, and Weapons Systems printed Scalmalloy would appear to be particularly attractive for use on a range of military aircraft, as well as for space applications. It also highlights the potential for Boeing Space, Intelligence, and Weapons Systems Scalmalloy to be used to extend the operational lives of military aircraft through the on-demand printing of limited life Scalmalloy replacement parts. The results of this initial test program have led to the hypothesis that the da/dN versus ∆K curves associated with Scalmalloy and conventionally built AA2024-T3 should be similar. This hypothesis was, subsequently, validated by comparison to AA2024-T3 da/dN versus ∆K curves taken from the Nasgro database. This observation subsequently led to the conjecture that the small crack da/dN versus ∆K curves associated with Scalmalloy and AA2024-T3, which are needed for a durability analysis, should be similar. If this hypothesis can be confirmed, then given that: (i) Scalmalloy has a yield stress significantly greater than that of AA2024-T3; (ii) AA2024-T3 is widely used in both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft; (iii) MIL-STD-1530D mandates that there must be no yield at 100% DLL and the US Joint Services Structural Guidelines JSSG2006 states that there should be no yield at 115% DLL, the use of Scalmalloy for both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, and drones would appear to be very attractive. As such, the next stage in the study will involve the determination of valid upper bound da/dN versus ∆K curves for the growth of short cracks in AA2024-T3.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (August 14, 2023) – A phased program to establish U.S. commercial production of aluminum-scandium (“AlSc”) master alloy took another step forward recently as NioCorp Developments Ltd. (“NioCorp” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ:NB) (TSX:NB) and its development partner Nanoscale Powders LLC (“Nanoscale”) successfully produced scandium metal at pilot-scale at a facility owned and operated by Creative Engineers in Pennsylvania.
The next step in the pilot-scale program is to produce kilogram-sized ingots of AlSc master alloy for independent testing and commercial product samples. The first of these AlSc master alloy ingots is expected to be produced in the coming weeks.

Three-Phase Commercialization Program

NioCorp and Nanoscale are pursuing a three-phased development plan for commercial production of AlSc master alloy. The goal of this program is to achieve full-scale AlSc master alloy production at approximately the same time as the Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project (the “Elk Creek Project”) achieves commercial operation and planned production of approximately 100 tonnes per year of scandium oxide.
  1. Pilot scale batch production of 10 kilogram master alloy ingots**. Master alloy produced will be fully analyzed (metals and gases) at independent test facilities. Ingot samples will be available for third-party examination and prospective customer testing / sampling.**
  2. Commercial demonstration production of 100 kg ingots**. NioCorp expects to perform this work at a third-party ingot casting facility, which is expected to significantly reduce development timelines and cost as well as leverage existing facility permits and operator experience. The objective of this stage will be to optimize the production process and operating conditions.**
  3. Full scale commercial production of master alloy**. Assuming successful results at the pilot scale and commercial demonstration stages, and once project financing is obtained, NioCorp intends to secure an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractor to construct, start up, and commission a full-scale production facility with the capacity to consume up to the Elk Creek Project’s projected scandium production of approximately 100 tonnes (Sc metal contained in master alloy) per year. NioCorp intends to co-locate the full-scale production facility with the Elk Creek Project in Nebraska in order to take advantage of the infrastructure (i.e., low-cost power, water, and natural gas) that will be in place for mining operations.**
NioCorp and Nanoscale also plan to develop recycling approaches for scrap alloy, including work-in-process material and post-production scrap.

***SEE RESPONSES FROM NIOCORP/JIM SIMS FROM AUGUST 14, 2023 ~Good morning - Jim!

While waiting for Niocorp’s 2023 F.S. Release… The announcement for Scandium Alloy Production & Scandium alloy funding are most welcome!

Leading me to add to my line of questions regarding Scandium & (Niocorp).

A) Would Niocorp qualify for a portion of this recent funding once approved by Congress? Moving forward.
RESPONSE:

"This funding was placed in the FY24 DoD Appropriations bill at the request of Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, for the purpose of helping to fund NioCorp's effort to establish domestic commercial production of AlSc master alloy. There is always a process within the DoD to select appropriate projects with funding provided to it by Congress. In this case, however, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees provided additional guidance to DoD on this topic in their respective National Defense Authorization bills, including prioritizing domestic production of such materials. "

Next Question ~ For context:

(Imperial mining, CleanTech, & Scandium International all have patents on Scandium & Sc aluminum alloy products. Rio Tinto has established a North American domestic supply(@15 tons/year with expansion capabilities) & has established a working relationship with Boeing.
Niocorp has produced Scandium aluminum with both IBC (under Chris Huskamp now with Jabil) & with Ames Lab, but has yet to patent any process or materials.
Niocorp has established a working relationship with Nanoscale to produce patentable Scandium Aluminum products in the years ahead…)
Jim-
B) How Does/will Niocorp’s expected Scandium production & future patentable Scandium materials be utilized by management moving forward? Once realized…. ; and How do/would they compare to those materials & alloys already developed or patented?
RESPONSE:

"Latent markets for scandium oxide and aluminum-scandium master alloy – both commercial and military -- are quite large, and we are working with a number of potential scandium consumers and related technology companies interested in scandium. We will make announcements in this area as developments require. In general, we don’t comment on detailed commercial business strategies except in the course of necessary announcements and/or public filings. "

C) In addition to Niocorp’s collaboration with NanoScale. Is Niocorp currently working/engaged with other entities such as (Ames Lab, DoD, DoE, Chris Huskamp/Jabil & others) on Scandium Materials/patents?
Or on Niobium, Titanium, or Rare Earth future products (Oxides, Magnets…)
Please comment where possible.
RESPONSE:

"There are multiple such engagements ongoing now for each product in our planned product offering. In general, we don’t comment on commercial business strategies except in the course of necessary announcements and/or public filings. "

D) Are other Entities besides EXIM Bank and Stellantis still interested as possible Debt/Equity finance or Anchor Investos partners moving foward?
Leading to a Final Elk Creek Finance package?
RESPONSE:

"YES!"

The committee recognizes that China is a major producer of high-purity scandium oxide, which has many powerful applications in defense technologies, including strengthening and light-weighting defense and commercial aviation systems. As scandium oxide pro-duction is established in the United States, a missing supply chain component is the conversion of scandium from its oxide form to aluminum-scandium (AlSc) master alloy. This process step is required for utilization of U.S.-mined scandium by many defense applications. At present, production capacity of AlSc master alloy is limited to one facility in the United States. The committee recognizes that the United States may soon become a major producer of highpurity scandium oxide by virtue of a proposed mine and mineral processing project in Nebraska. The committee recognizes the defense-wide importance of a vertical domestic supply chain for both Scandium Oxide and AlSc master alloy and the critical importance of both materials for the production of air-, land-, and sea-based combat systems.

2024.05.16 01:20 Slow-Novel-6761 [ON] vehicle under company name?

I do a sales (T4) job and have a small business on the side. I use my personal car for my sales job and claim the maintanence, fuel expenses end of the year while filing for taxes.
Someone suggested I can have my small business take over my loan on the car and then lease it from the company for my sales job.
So, I can claim the car expenses, interests paid for the loan as a business expense. Is this a good idea?
