For several years now, I've been trying at random times to recover my Youtube channel without success. Let me explain.
I have an old Youtube channel that I'd like to get back, because it's close to my heart, but I've since changed my phone number and unfortunately, when I want to connect to this channel, they ask me for a security code, sent to my old phone number...
I know the password for the channel, I still have access to the email address (which is a Hotmail email), the only thing I'm missing is this security code sent to my old number...
I've already tried to do a recovery, but Youtube just asks me "your last password?" and when I answer they tell me I haven't answered enough questions.
I contacted Youtube, they sent me a form, I tried, it didn't work either, I contacted Youtube on twitter, they came to talk to me in DM and asked me to make a video when I was trying to connect, I made it, they never answered me again.
So I complained to Youtube publicly on twitter explaining my problem and they told me "even if you have all the information that proves it's your account, we can't do anything and we can't delete the phone number".
This means that if you have the misfortune to change your phone number and forget to change it on your Youtube account, you'll lose your account forever. When I try to log in, I get this annoying e-mail "connection blocked, someone has tried to access your account" BUT IT'S ME IDIOT!
I'm sure if I had millions of subscribers Youtube would have solved my problem in a second.

Hi Riot,
I've been speaking to Riot support but they haven't been able to help me.
Here is a summary of the issue:

• I know my username and password and the email address Riot sends the 2FA codes to.
• I have been receiving 2FA codes to the hotmail account since 2022 and the last time I received a 2FA was on Feb 2024.
• I took a break and now May 2024 I am not receiving 2FA codes to my hotmail account.
• The hotmail account I am using is an Alias to my main outlook email address. I also have a riot account to play league of legends on using the outlook primary email address. Could this be causing an issue?
• I can provide receipts I received on the hotmail account and also bank transactions. Is this enough evidence?
• Riot support has asked me questions which is impossible for me to remember such as:
  • If dates are unknown please enter a significant game event around the same time.
  • Here are some game specific questions:
    • What agent did you unlock first?
    • What gun buddy did you unlock first?
    • What skin did you evolve using Radianite Points?
• I can't remember the answer to these questions as I've been playing Valorant for a few years now!
• I submitted 2 tickets to Riot and have not received a resolution.
• I don't want to make a new account because I already spent over $1,000 AUD on the account.

I also logged a support ticket to Microsoft incase they have blocked emails coming from Riot. I'll update here if they respond.
Also, I am aware other outlook and hotmail users have had the same issue as me.
Please can I get some help?

I run a website for professional communications. We get about 50 notices a month, and they get redistributed automatically among self-identified professional colleagues. There are about 7000 subscribers, globally.
It has a website in support of this, where interested persons can come, submit their email address, a confirmation email with a link is sent to that address, and if that link is clicked by the recipient, they are invited to set up their email preferences so that they can receive the emails.
For about the past year, some sort of automated, distributed process is adding email address at this website. These additions use distinct email addresses - gmail, hotmail, icloud, cable service providers, private businesses. There's no pattern to the emails, they seem to be mostly (probably) real persons' email addresses, being added to the list at the website, without their owners' knowledge. (There is a small fraction of what appear to be obviously faked email addresses at email, something long like ddskiehshwh23311@gmail.c om, and then another one like ddskiehshwh23317@gmail.c om, and on and on).
These submissions happen from, what I count as about 30 different static IPs. The ones which have registered names are weird, like "gemination.hair".
Because the owners of the email addresses (probably) don't click on confirmation, the email address gets removed from my list within 2 days; furthermore, even if they did confirm, they'd still have to come to the website and set up their email preferences before they receive a single email (other than the confirmation email).
Never mind the issue of blocking such additions (I'm working on it). What I'm wondering: what possible scam could whomever is doing this, be running?
What is the motivation?

TL;DR: Umdoll tried to impersonate Una from Mydollection, then backtracked when the actual Mydollection posted about it and is trying to act like the naming was just a coincidence. And a bunch of other weird suspicious shit. So don't trust them, and do a chargeback through your bank ASAP if you have done any business with them.
Some of you may already know of the site Mydollection. There is definitely a discussion to be had about them, but I want to focus on Umdoll in this post and will only get into the relevant parts about Mydollection:
Mydollection has changed hands a few times. I don't fully know their whole timeline, but it's relevant that you know they are currenly ran by Una.
Compounding their problems, one of their employees (possibly Una?) was in a car accident a few months ago and sustained an injury to their hand or wrist. They posted about it with pictures, though they are gone now because they share a lot of their information through Insta stories that don't last very long.
Mydollection doesn't have any presence on Facebook. Most of their communication is through Instagram, emails and a chat widget on their website that has been removed. Although one of the previous owners was from Malaysia, the new owner may be from China as they said that's the reason they don't have a Facebook.

A few weeks ago, somebody by the name of "Megan Mydollection" appeared on FB and started advertising for the site "mydollection.shop" and the socials linked with it, which are FB, insta, tiktok and potentially a Twitter, although that button on their website doesn't work. The actual Mydollection posted on their Insta saying that they have no idea who this person is, they aren't linked to them at all and to please not do any business with them.
At this point, the fake dollection was communicating with an email called "uma.dollection" and the blog posts on their website were posted by a "Wang Una", although that has now been changed to "Chen Jacky." They also changed the url to just "umdoll.com."
I don't know what all their social names were previously, but their two FBs are "Bjd doll" (URL dollectionshop) and "Umdoll" (@dollections), their insta is "@dollectionshop" and their TikTok is still the old URL, "mydollection.shop", although the bio has the new URL of "umdoll.com" and an email for "jacky.dollections@hotmail(.)com."
That email address brings me onto the email they sent out, which is how I found out about them initially. I and many others recieved a plaintext email from 'Chen Jacky', "jacky.umdoll@hotmail(.)com" that acted as ad for Umdoll's site. Strangely, I wasn't actually in the 'to' box of the email, but somebody that I don't recognize (probably just another random person from the mailing list, like me) and nobody else. It seems like apart from this one person, the entirety of the mailing list was BCC'd and CC'd in the email was a "megan.umdoll@gmail(.)com."
I had never heard of Umdoll before this and neither had a lot of the other people in the BJD Discord I'm in. All we can surmise is that Umdoll had access to an outdated mailing list from Mydollection, since the only thing we had in common is that we had all spoken to Mydollection via email at some point. It's not that rare for information to be leaked online, especially when you're dealing with smaller vendors, so do with that what you will, I am not smart enough to analyze how they got that list of people.
The site itself is standard, but shallow and obviously quite new. The 'about us' tab has some AI generated art, which sort of goes against their "we love independent and local artists" thing, as does the fact that they were actually advertising a known recaster on their FB at some point. The language on the website is quite different to what was in the email and personally gives me huge ChatGPT vibes. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if the person writing it doesn't speak English fluently, but it doesn't look great in this context when compared with everything else.
Also, their FB says that they're from California, when their actual website says that they're from Guangzhou, China. It's probably related to China's banning of FB so I think anybody using a VPN in China to access FB would have to put in a fake location. I thought I should give some context for that.

I saw Umdoll advertising on FB myself for the first time and left a comment basically saying "stay away from these guys", they responded saying that they had no idea who mydollection was prior to starting their own pages and that it was a mistake. I responded with some more info and they deleted the post. (Or blocked me. It's an invite only group so I can't just log out to see which.)
Aside from the name Una popping up and then disappearing once they were called out, Umdoll literally reposted the actual post from Mydollection about the car crash and then deleted it.
I think that Mydollection has a lot of stuff going on right now, so it's probably best to hold off on ordering from them for those reasons, until they sort themselves out. At the same time, you should ABSOLUTELY not order from Umdoll, because... all of this.
Maybe somebody was looking for "smaller" BJD sellers to impersonate and didn't realize that Mydollection was already under such heavy scrutiny. Maybe it's more malicious and targeted. I'm not sure, I just wanted to post this somewhere in the hopes that people would see and maybe tell their friends. I'll be looking into the bigger BJD groups on FB and seeing if they allow 'call out' posts or will at least ban Umdoll and give a heads up.
(Not only do scammers suck anyway, but them trying to impersonate Mydollection when so many people are frustrated/angry with them and possibly struggling to get in contact with them, I think it's especially important that people know which accounts are/aren't real.)

Guys, we all know that we have been blocked by her numerous times for asking the right questions. I have noticed many members of this sub do not know that you can actually see her TT without and with an account and if you want to, you can still create a new account.
To see her account without logging into TT:

1. Save a link handy, somewhere were you can access it easy in your phone/computer. This has to be a link to any of her TT videos. Could be this one:

1. Log out of your TT account, click on the link and voilá! you will be able to see her hideous TT account.

Now, what if you have been blocked and want to create a new fake account to be able to comment on her videos? Easy peasy! This works on phones and computers

1. Log out of your TT real account
2. Click on Sign Up
3. Click again on Sign Up
4. Select Use Phone or email
5. A screen will come up asking you to input your phone, but don't, because on the right, you will see a tab that says "email".
6. Select that "email" tab and enter a fake email address like: haleechildexploiter@hotmail.com . THIS IS IMPORTANT: Always create a fake account using the hotmail domain as for some reason this is the only one that has worked for me.
7. Click on Continue
8. It will ask you to create a password
9. It will ask for your birth date
10. It will ask for a nick name, you could skip this and it will assign an automatic nickname. And there you have it! it will log you in after you complete this last step!.

That's all. I know it reads as many steps but no, it is super quickly. If someone needs help, let me know.

I am literally at my breaking point, I don't know what to do anymore. I want to preface this with the fact that I am in my early 30's, but stuck at home with a cancer diagnosis. I have been, until quite recently due to this situation, of sound mind, I work in law. On February 5, 2023 I was hacked / infected with a virus. IT WILL NOT STOP. The machine I am currently writing this on, I purchased today. It was infected before I got to the Hello screen during sign up. Anyways, during my initial infection, I was "protected" by Norton AV 360 as a PREMIUM member. What I believe happens, is once this virus loads, I am thrown into a linux based virtual machine. Frankly, most of your messages are filtered by these major ISP’s before they even reach the inbox. This is why you want to be sure you and your messages play by the commonly accepted rules. For information on the newly implemented DMARC protocol and how it may affect you, click here.
Recognize that major ISP’s like AOL, Hotmail, Comcast, Yahoo, and others maintain their own feedback loops or the new dmarc technology. Recognize that email marketing deliverability is a moving target. Major ISP’s control how aggressively they check and block content. Email addresses change constantly. It is reported that 30% of people change their email address annually. People do lose interest in something they requested months earlier and will unsubscribe. Your lists will always adjust. It’s just part of the email marketing business.

I just got a particularily nasty blackmail email, as usual I forwarded it to the National Cyber Security Centre at [report@phishing.gov.uk](mailto:report@phishing.gov.uk) and it was bounced back by the Outlook Postmaster, the reason, the recipient's spam filters rejected it,
I saved the email as a file, attached it to an email to [report@phishing.gov.uk](mailto:report@phishing.gov.uk) along with the Postmasters report, went to send it and 'bam' my email account is blocked,
I get an email from Microsoft asking me to sign in to my account and verify my identity because it appeared my account was sending spam,
well I'm verified and back into my account, I forwarded the email to [abuse@outlook.com](mailto:abuse@outlook.com) as the sender was using a hotmail.it address, [giorgio.capocchia@hotmail.it](mailto:giorgio.capocchia@hotmail.it) , likely a hacked account,
you can report abuse being sent from Microsoft email domains such as hotmail, live, msn and outlook if you put the offending email address as the subject and then paste into the body of the email the full message source, (header, message body and footer,)
they do send a confirmation of receipt,
but yeah, be on the lookout for nasty blackmail emails, this one had a password I've previously used, I think it was at Armor Games where they had a data breach, I was notified at the time by Armor Games and we all had to change our passwords,

I have built my first firebase authentication app using flutter when I started testing it, I noticed that if I try to register a user with email and password using a protonmail account, it works great. I receive the email notification, i click the link and now I can log in. But if I try to register a user with a hotmail account, the email gets registered on the firebase authentication console, but I never receive a verification email. I'm not sure what is happening. I would bet that hotmail, blocks the email, but if your email verification gets block, then it's not very practical since the number of users on your app directly depends on that email verification.
I was wondering if I am correct or if there is something that I am missing and I am interested about your general thoughts on the subject.

RESOLVED (kind of):
A SINGLE GMAIL ACCOUNT NEEDED VERIFICATION. Due to this, Thunderbird was not proceeding with any other accounts. I see this as a flaw in design. I do not mean this to knock the developers but, I'm sure there's plenty of people using TB for dozens of accounts like I am. To pinpoint an issue with a single account with a company like Google is ... not fun.
My suggestion: If one account is held up, toss it on the back-burner so to say or it's own thread. I haven't looked over the code but regardless the event was blocking all others and my suggestion is not unreasonable. I will make it in the appropriate place.
My suggestion for users facing this issue: Manually check every account to be sure something lame isn't happening with Google or such.
Simply due to my amount of connections they wanted manual verification for one account. Why this wasn't triggering in Thunderbird until today I don't know. Maybe a glitch in i3wm? Maybe thunderbird? I can only speculate here. After getting the account resolved, everything is running.
To those that downvoted this, all you're hurting is progress of great software. Save your ego. Seriously. If things like this cannot be addressed you're just going to make it so the developers do not get donations and such. I have in the past and will continue to donate. If I had faced this issue within my first week or month, that would be a different story.

Arch linux. i3wm. Same setup I've been using for a long time with the exception of a clean install back in November roughly due to build up and swapping around some drives. I've never had this issue.
Overnight it seems Thunderbird suddenly can't retrieve any emails on various accounts. They're mostly gmail and I can verify the accounts are fine via web/phone. The emails do load in those.
The folders will show the amount of unread messages but they won't be retrieved.
Thunderbird is also failing to send.
Google is yielding "firewall issues" when I search. I do use "ufw" but it by default allows all outgoing connections and has never caused problems. I disabled it just in case there was suddenly a magical problem and it makes no difference. I didn't expect there to be but I wanted to honestly be able to state that I did.
I have dozens of accounts (business) and use Linux a lot. This is how I've found TB. I really do love the software.
If I make a post like this, I've been looking.
I did try to "repair" one folder and it simply made all of the emails disappear, fixing nothing. I'm not trying that again. Luckily it wasn't an important one!
Is there a way to find errors from this? The most it's saying is it's failing to connect to the SMTP server upon trying to send but nothing to help me track the problem.
With UFW up, it indeed shows no interaction between the two.
Not that I would expect them to but there's nothing shown in dmesg or journalctl. It's like the software just decided to quit working overnight.
I have manually killed it and re-opened it.
I can temporarily move the configuration and start fresh to see if that helps but, there's a lot of accounts to sync up so if someone has faced this and has a fix, please let me know. I'd be very thankful.. if that means anything!

EDIT: After having it closed since this post... I opened it I think maybe 4-5 hours later? It's a busy day. It's suddenly working. Maybe something with google. I'll look over the replies and address them shortly. If anyone's been helpful, thank you. Sorry if this seems lazy. It's a child's important birthday and I'm trying not to focus too much on work stuff. Earlier though after closing and re-opening, it was not working. Clearly there's some sort of network issue but it wasn't on my end. I can only surmise somewhere from my ISP to Google themselves or, another weird glitch. Due to no logs I know of, I can't share. I will look over replies however and if someone's shared logs I'm not aware of (or I find them myself) I will share more details if there's anything helpful.

EDIT 2: Nope. Only some of them. I'll dig more later. No more edits until I figure this out. It seems certain accounts at random work and some don't. BTW I mention gmail a lot but there's also hotmail and personal (my own server) emails that it's not working with on further inspection. I'll dig and see if I can provide something useful over the next couple days. I'll be a bit tied up unfortunately.

I think we have all encountered this issue. We host our own email server (Postfix in my case) but outbound email to some but highly popular providers (hotmail, outlook, sometime gmail, sometimes office 365) are blocked because they dont want to deal with us small guys (I miss the free days of the old net).
Now, I know the work around is re route all your mail through a provider such as Sendinblue or Sendgrid or some big SMTP provider that has the bulk and reputation to deliver email to troublesome providers.
My question is: How do I configure Postfix to first try and send the email out directly by its self and then if that fails then fail over to a 3rd party SMTP provider?
I just want to try and preserve as much privacy as possible (hence why I self host) without relaying EVERY email through a 3rd party supplier. I just want to relay the ones I have to.
I have a $5 VPS that my home server terminates a VPN to and then all relevant traffic is forwarded from my VPS host to my home server. The SMTP TLS traffic terminates on my home server so in theory my VPS provider wont see my SMTP traffic as plain text. I can also take my home server and plug it in at my moms house and it will connect and have the exact same IP address. After all this effort its such a shame to relay all my outbound emails through a bulk provider :(

By example, I was worked on UHRS vía Appen but I was removed from Whatcom Project. I changed to clickworker, I made a new hotmail account according to clickworker, not my personal account. But I can not afford to get blocked from UHRS.

Hi all, I hope everyone had a happy new year.
I've got a Hotmail account and recently it's been getting spammed with unsuccessful logins across the globe. When I click on details in outlook it essentially says I don't need to worry but the vast volume of these has me concerned.
I came across email aliases as a solution, I read that I could set this up with my original email only allow logging into my main email through my alias which will block all these attempts.
It sounds like a good idea to me but I'm concerned, does anyone know the risks with doing this? One of my concerns is if I end up losing my original email or outlook some hwo turn off my alias because of it being inactive or something.
