My character has been stuck getting +10 rads in power armor, and +4 outside of power armor. This only happens after I enter any power armor but can be resolved by fast traveling, but then starts again when I enter my power armor. This started after I went to the Glowing Sea for Virgil's quest.

Hi All,
I posted my first version last summer (1st Attempt). Since then I received an R&R (non-exclusive) and spent time overhauling my manuscript. Still waiting to hear back from the agent, but in the meantime I'd like to revisit my query and new 1st 300 words for my revamped work.

I’m currently seeking representation for my contemporary upper middle grade novel, BAMBOO: RED PANDA RESCUE. Complete at 60,000 words, this multi-POV novel encompasses the fast-paced adventure and underlying message of wildlife conservation seen in Carl Hiassen’s MG novels as well as the realistic family drama of Dan Gemeinhart’s The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise.

Garrett Lowe had biked this route countless times and could do it eyes closed – but this day was different. This was the last time he would ever make this trip.
The destination was only three neighborhoods away and should have taken ten minutes, max. But it was eighty-four degrees outside, unusually warm for a late August morning. On top of that, Garrett had been forced on an involuntary detour, adding extra time. And extra sweat. Blonde hair clung to his drenched forehead, pressed beneath his helmet. His wheels spun while his thoughts raced through everything he was about to lose.
He wasn’t sure if he should pedal faster or slow down. He didn’t have enough time.
He was already there.
Garrett glided to a stop. This home was better taken care of than his own; he could practically still smell the fresh coat of navy-blue paint the Lins put on last month. He abandoned his bike on the manicured lawn and cast his helmet aside. He waded past heaps of cardboard boxes labeled: “KITCHEN” and “XMAS”. A U-Haul waited in their driveway, and Mr. Lin directed movers struggling with a leather couch while Mrs. Lin stood by clutching an elaborate blue and white vase.
But where was Mike? Unless he had packed himself up with the bathroom towels, he wasn’t out front.
Garrett jogged to the backyard and stared up at the small wooden treehouse nestled between two oak trees. It was simple: no tire swings or grand porches, just four walls and a roof. He climbed the ten steps leading to the entry hatch which still threatened trespassers with his hand-painted warning: Beware Dangerous Gasses. Garrett smirked at the dumb joke, not that they needed a sign to keep people out, they never had any visitors.

2024.04.28 21:02 dekeche An analysis of age 6 national spirits.

A bit of an explanation on terminology before I start. I’ll be listing national spirit bonuses as either permanent, limited, situation, short term, or one-time. One-time bonuses don’t provide any lasting effect, like instant units that don’t come attached to any other bonuses. Short term bonuses are bonuses that eventually expire, and no longer provide their bonus. Limited bonuses are permanent, but some outside factor limits the quantity of bonuses that can be given out. I’m not going to include domain powers with increasing cost under this category. Like being tied to a power that increases in cost. Situation bonuses are permanent bonuses, but they may only be useful in specific circumstances, or may be invalidated by such circumstances. Permanent bonuses are, of course, permanent. They’ll be active for the entire game, even if the bonus itself lacks impact in the late-game. I will also be listing any innovation bonuses as a separate section, under whatever above category the specific bonus applies to.
Arts - Great Masters - Grants Access to Spawn Artist domain power:
Like before, we’ll be starting with the worst national spirit. However, Great Masters is not a bad spirit because of what bonuses it gives. Rather, it’s bad because its main mechanic is actively annoying to use, and its capstone ability replaces the Local Reform culture ability with what is effectively a strict downgrade in many situations. While Mercenaries are probably the actual worst national spirit, I’ve got more issues with Great Masters. So, let’s start with the positives. This tree improves artwork and masterpiece goods, and masterpiece goods in particular also produce Arts XP, so this spirit has decent built in synergy for producing its XP. The Conservatory is also a phantastic building, being the best source of building-based culture in the game. Plus it also produces Art XP. I’ll also note that apprentices can also produce artwork, and artwork is a one-per region good. So you can’t double down on artwork by using both an apprentice and an artist. On the other hand, this does mean you can use all of your artists for rushing culture, and artwork no longer costs Art XP to create. I’ll also note that this National Spirit unlocks the Spawn Artist domain power, which means it’s the only way to spawn artists if the Age of Blood occurred. As for the issues; you can only recruit an apprentice if the city “has an apprentice available”. As far as I can tell, each city only has one apprentice, and there’s no UI element that shows you what cities have an available apprentice. So it’s up to the player to keep track of what cities they’ve recruited from, Additionally, Golden Age is effectively a downgrade from Local Reforms. There’s a number of one-per-nation buildings that you’ll probably have in the homeland, and your homeland will also typically have more population/improvements than any other region. So a x1.25 bonus for 8 turns on it will typically produce more knowledge, culture, and XP than a x1.2 bonus for 4 turns on all regions. I think you’d need to have at least 4 other decently developed regions to make the most of the Golden Age ability. I’ll also note that this ability is made worse if you enter the Age of Utopia, as underwater cities are extremely goods focused cities, and don’t benefit much from region efficiency bonuses. In conclusion, I think this spirit suffers from a bit of anti-synergy. It wants you to have a large number of regions, to maximize its bonuses. Golden Age’s changes only make sense if the dev’s assumed you would have 5+ regions, and it needed to rebalance local reform’s effect to reflect that. And it’s not like Golden Age is optional, it’s the capstone ability. At the same time, you also need a large number of AI cities around to acquire as many apprentices as possible. And these two goals are a bit incompatible. The larger your presence is on the board, the less of a presence the AI has. I also think that there’s some built in issues with how the tree tries to operate. There needs to be a UI element to show what cities still have apprentices. Also, the Golden Age itself could use another pass. It’s functionally a downgrade to the original ability, unless you go quite wide. I feel like it should either not replace Local Reforms, or it should be an optional ability instead of the capstone. Perhaps make Guild Training the capstone instead?
Warfare:
Mercenaries
Mercenaries are interesting in concept, but I think they have a lot of anti-synergy. The main concept is simple; mercenaries are about as powerful as age 8 units. Mercenaries being the equivalent of the early machine gun, while privateers are the equivalent of destroyers. Both favor higher attack over defense in those comparisons. The main drawback of these units is their upkeep cost (40), and their summoning cost. Security Detail is the only ability that does not cost any Warfare XP to use, but comes at the cost of slowing down your leaders. Hire Mercenaries is relatively cheap, but unless you use aggressive outposts as forward bases, you can’t exactly use it offensively. And while Call Ambush can be used offensively, it removes barbarians from the map, reducing the amount of XP you can generate from fighting them. It’s also quite expensive to use. All in all, this means that you’re not exactly going to be able to use these units to aggressively generate Warfare XP. I also think that their expensive upkeep directly competes with chaos mitigation, making these units unsuited to fighting aggressive wars. Which, of course, is a bit of an anti-synergy. On the other hand, these units do seem to be ideal for fighting a defensive war. You don’t exactly care about leader movement if your leaders are being attacked, or spawning expensive units in your territory if that’s where the enemy is. I’ll also note that there’s a niche use of ambush to destroy the larger Revolutionary armies in the Age of Revolution, but it’s so expensive to use that it’s not exactly practical to rely on it if you’ve got a large territory. I’ll also note that the mercenary units themselves are probably not as good in practice as they appear on paper. Due to the extremely high upkeep cost, you likely won’t be able to keep them around for very long. Which means that they likely won’t be in a position to gain veterancy levels. And veterancy is quite the important force multiplier. A veterancy 4 Arquebus has similar stats to the Early Machine Gun. So a high veterancy army can actually match the stats of your mercenaries. Outside of the mercenary units, there’s not a whole lot left to go over. +25 wealth from killing units is nice, but it suffers the same issue as the Age of Blood killed unit trigger. Namely, it doesn’t work if the army is killed out of combat, and units that are broken but not killed do not count. The mercenary training camp is honestly a bit bad. It is an outpost improvement, not a castle improvement, so it doesn’t exactly compete with the armory. But it’s 3x the cost of the armory, so it’s quite expensivie to build. And it only provides +3 wealth, which doesn’t exactly cover the 40 wealth upkeep of the mercenary units. Overall, I think this spirit costs too much to use. Its units cost too much Warfare XP to generate, they cost too much upkeep to be used offensively, and the units themselves aren’t actually that good once you take veterancy into account. Adding to all that, this spirit also doesn’t provide ways to generate the Warfare XP or wealth it needs. Sure, you can generate cash from defeating units, the mercenary camp provides some XP and Wealth, and Guns for Hire can generate a bit of wealth, but it’s not really enough to pay for the costs this spirit imposes. As such, I don’t think the spirit is all that useful. I will note though, that there is a bit of synergy with an earlier Age of Blood, or the Raiders National Spirit. As both of these add ways to generate more Warfare XP. Which can help pay for generating the mercenary units.
Commanders - Spawns unique Field Marshal:
Commanders are a bit unique as military national spirits go. Not only does it give you 3 new units, it also does really focus on empowering those units. Rather, it’s focused on empowering your leaders and standard army units. Between the +1 base tactics and +1 tactics from Veterancy Lv.5 - your leader units will have +2 tactics on leaders of their equivalent age. Which means your armies will be hitting at least x1.2 harder than anyone else. Additionally, the Old Guard units are quite the powerful units in their own right. They have the distinction of being one of the few player controlled units with more than 50 health. Adding to that, the Cavalry is effectively a reskinned early tank, while the Grenadiers closest equivalent is the Elite Task Force Heavy, a unit specific to the Age of Visitors. Of course, like most National Spirit units, they cannot be upgraded when they become obsolete. In addition to the direct strength bonuses this national spirit gives, it also reduces the cost of Forced March, and gives leaders the ability to heal their armies at the cost of 15 Warfare XP, and a full turn's worth of movement. The final situational bonus is limited to Commanders unique leadership units; the field marshal. The field marshal is essentially a Leader VI, with +2 base tactics and a higher retirement value. It also has a lower baseline targeting than a standard leader (according to the wiki), with the last National Spirit bonus reducing that into the negative. Needless to say, a leader that will not be attacked is quite useful. Overall, this is a great military national spirit that will empower your military for the rest of the game. This national spirit also has some decent synergy with earlier national spirits; Warriors passive combat XP combines nicely with the focus on added veterancy levels and leaders.Raiders +Warfare XP helps to fuel Forced March + Battlefield Medic. And Shogunate’s Leaders benefit from the added tactics bonuses.
War Priests
War Priests is an extremely situational tree; and is also unique for being the only non-age 2 national spirit with an expansion reduction bonus. It goes without saying, but you’ll need jungles to really use this tree. For what it’s worth, this tree is quite good. The Jungle Farm is one of the best farms in the game, and is the only way to produce Maize (+1 food compared to wheat, can be used as wheat in all related production chains). The Jaguar Warriors are also a strong unit, if a bit specialized. They are unique in that they can actually be acquired by having certain line units (Dragoon, Musket, Pike) undergo a LEADERSHIP promotion - this is not an upgrade, it’s specifically a promotion (even though Jaguar’s don’t have tactics - oversight?). I’ll also note that it’s best to use pikes or dragoons for this, as musket’s have a higher leadership promotion cost (45/54 vs 84). As for the units themselves, They trade the x2 attack against cavalry the units they upgrade from possess, for a x1.5 attack/defense in jungle. Additionally, the National Spirit imparts a further x1.5 base attack/defense. I’ll note that it’s actually a bit hard to find a unit to compare them against. They are stronger than the musket they upgrade from, but at baseline are weaker than the assault rifle those upgrade into. Of course, the x1.5 bonus turns them into an extremely overpowered unit. It does mean they technically might end up with less overall attack than units with a situational attack bonus, but I think the bonus is comparable, and the higher defense more than makes up for the lower attack (though, I do wonder why it’s a percent bonus instead of a flat attack/defense increase?). I do find it odd that they don’t count as a pre-gunpowder unit, but it’s probably for the best that they don’t benefit from the raiders healing ability. Overall, these are a solid unit that can benefit from pre-existing veterancy levels if generated by promoting units. As for their other aspects - Pyramid Temples themselves are a great faith improvement. They produce a base +6 faith, with an added +6 from being worked, and if they are adjacent to another jungle tile they produce a further +6 faith by producing religious text (this is what the tooltip means by x2 faith for an adjacent jungle tile). It’s the best tile based way of producing faith. That said, abbeys are still better in practice. But you’ll still want to build a number of temples, so you can maximize the number of Jaguar units you can generate via human sacrifice. Which is the only realistic way to use that ability. Human sacrifice produces 20 culture, 100 faith, and with the upgrade produces one Jaguar Warrior in each jungle temple you have (including in vassal territories). Personally, I don’t know why this generates faith? It seems like the ideal use case would be to convert captured cities, but it can’t be used on vassals. And unless there’s more to the mechanic, producing faith in a city that already worships your religion 100% seems to do nothing. The culture is also not that useful, 20 is easy enough to produce per turn from your religion, so not sure 2 pops is worth it. So the only remaining use-case is for spawning Jaguar’s at your temples. But since temples are a one-per-region improvement, you’ll need a lot of regions around jungles to get a lot of use out of this. In other words, YMMV. All in all, I do think this is a rather strong military spirit, if you have the jungles to actually use it. This is also quite faith focused, but that’s sort of a side effect of how it works. I don’t think it prohibits switching to a secular government later on, though you will lose some of the bonuses for building temples and the faith bonus from human sacrifices. I also don’t see why this is an age 6 spirit, instead of being an age 4 or 2 spirit. If it has to remain an age 6 spirit, I’d like to see the Jaguar Promotion revised. It should probably be handled as an ability with a defined cost, rather than replacing the leadership promotion. Additionally, I would like to see it expanded to more units, or have the text explain what units specifically benefit, instead of just saying all “line” units.
Diplomacy - Colonialism:
Colonialism is a bit of a situational pick. It gives a lot of good bonuses, but the primary bonuses it gives are culture powers, so you’ll need a high culture income to really make the most use of those bonuses. Which this tree can help with, provided you already have the needed setup. Its +2 culture from colonies provides a small buff to culture generation that synergises with Placer Claim, but the main bonus to culture generation is the +75% vassal max prosperity. Which does mean that colonialism needs a large vassal swarm to take full advantage of all of its buffs. But it’s also worth noting that the above bonus is the only way to boost vassal prosperity permanently without staying a feudal monarchy. As for the other bonuses colonialism grants; the transport ship buff is quite nice, allowing your transports to outrun barbarians, and the added vision helps to avoid them. Trade Factories are also nice, if perhaps a bit anti-synergistic? They double outpost goods production, but is that really necessary when you can just spawn more outposts with the Placer Claim culture power? They also synergise poorly with the free trade posts from Spice Traders. The only real situational bonuses are Eminent Domain, and the added chaos to tea. Eminent Domain lets you instantly vassalize any minor nation that you have vision on. Which basically means it’s a niche power that can only realistically be used on an island map. After all, it requires that minor nations still exist, that you have units nearby, and that those units are either non-diplomat civilian units, or naval units (After all, if you have army units near enough to have visions, you could just conquer them instead.). As for tea, I don’t like getting chaos events, and I’m not sure if the wealth income offsets the cost of paying for chaos events. So I’d probably just take the wealth from the innovation, instead of the permanent bonus.
Explorers - Scholars:
This spirit is one of my favorites, with several nice bonuses to knowledge production. Books are one of the most unique goods in the game, as there are many age specific innovations that add Domain XP or other production to the good (Renaissance +1 Arts, Discovery +1 Engineering, Conquest +1 Warfare, Enlightenment +2 Education, Alchemy +1 Arcana). It’s also a luxury good, so benefits from the +1 production from the Republic's Fine Delicacies innovation. So, all in all, quite the versatile good. The Scholarly Society provides a decent amount of education, as well as a free book. While the Great Library provides 1 foreign manuscript per allied nation, which you can convert into books with the Translator improvement. On top of the added knowledge production from having more books, Scholars also improves the knowledge culture powers, and gives you an expensive domain power to generate even more knowledge. All in all, a nice set of bonuses. The only issue I’ll note - is that perhaps the Great Library should generate manuscripts by having open borders or allies. Previously how it actually worked was a bit arcane and unclear. But it definitely didn’t need 5 allies to generate 5 manuscripts. And because the AI is so likely to go to war with each other, and war automatically calls allies into it, it’s rather difficult to maintain a large number of allies. So this change, while clarifying the mechanic, seems to make the building itself worse overall. Particularly if the intention is to suit a more peaceful playstyle. If you want peace, you actually just want to have open borders with everyone, instead of being allied with everyone.
Engineering:
Inventors - +2 Innovation when purchasing ideals (excluding one-time bonus ideal)
Inventors are the early access and innovation national spirit. Purchasing their ideals generates innovation. They get access to specialists, even if they can’t produce more of them. They have access to power production via the Voltaic Pile. Their Inventors Laboratory improvement is part of the Laboratory improvement chain, and all of that an age earlier than anyone else. And while inventions don’t produce as much knowledge as books, they do so without needing a long resource chain. And, in one lucky city, you can spawn the world's fair, which can convert inventions into exhibitions (3 knowledge, 1 culture, 25 weatlh. 1 per worker, 2 worker slots). I’ll note that you will probably want to keep one of the Inventors Laboratory improvements un-upgraded. The upgraded building produces 1 good per worker, while the Inventors version produces 2 goods for one worker. So it’s more worker efficient to use inventions for the world's fair, instead of the analytics goods the Laboratory produces, even if analytics technically produce more knowledge. As for the other bonuses, university buildings producing Engineering XP is quite synergistic, and a pretty good bonus if you’ve got multiple regions. And having Cutting Edge produce 20 Innovation is a very nice bonus. All in all - I think Scholars is better if you want a general Knowledge bonus, but Inventors is more focused on generating innovation. I.E. getting through ages faster vs getting more out of the ages. I do think inventors could be improved slightly if the +1 innovation bonus from their innovation was a per-turn bonus, rather than being one-time. You aren’t exactly incentivised to build more than 3 Inventors Laboratories, and it’s not like there aren’t improvements that give per-turn innovation already in the game (Age of Utopia).
Sultans - Tier 2+ ideals provide +3 population to the region with “The New Palace”: Tier 2+ ideals require The New Palace to be built.
Ah, the Sultans. They have a heavy focus on increasing their population in the capital region, while at the same time using powerful buildings to provide for the utility needs of the increased population. While this would suggest that they are intended for a tall playstyle, their buildings can be built in any region - even if they don’t produce as many resources in those other regions. Which which should be able to free up some tiles and workers for other uses. So they do still provide decent bonuses if you’ve gone wide. Overall though, I think the main bonus they grant is the +18 pops to your “capital” region. Between the new population, and the improved needs production the quarters provide, that’s a rather massive production bonus to your capital region. In addition to all that, the innovation bonus XP production is some nice self-synergy. As for their more situational bonuses…. The Courtyard Homes could use some improvement. It’s a better version of the Age 6 house, but personally I find myself always using the “unrest” housing in all my regions. And the Age 5 versions of that produce twice the housing (30). So I’m not sold on it being a useful alternative. Tile space is always quite tight in large cities, and the population bonus from Sultans kind of means you need to use tiles more efficiently. And the Courtyard homes just aren't efficient enough. As for the Basilica? It’s a siege engine. It’s got pretty good stats all things considered, but it has no unit-based attack multiplier, and has low defense/moral. So it has all the same problems I have with other siege weapons. As such, I don’t find it a compelling bonus. As for synergies, there’s three notable national spirits that synergise quite well with the sultans. Both of the Age 2 Engineering Spirits have some interesting synergies: Mound Builders half food need combos quite well with the sultans mega region focus. On the other hand, the God Kings have increased influence production, and so should have regions large enough to support the influx of workers without issue. The Age 4 Shogunate also combos quite nicely with the Sultans. Since the Sultanate produces a lot of non-good needs production, the Shogunate’s x1.1 and x1.2 region efficiency bonuses multiply that, letting the quarters support an even larger population.

I called my uncle Roy yesterday. I had not heard from the old mountain man is a couple weeks, which was odd because he has been reaching out to me regularly in recent weeks. I called to check on him to see if he was ok.
Uncle Roy lives way up in the mountains of North Carolina. I have to reach him by satellite phone because he has no land line and there are no cell towers for miles and miles around. He lives completely off the grid.
So I dialed up Roy. The phone rang and rang. I thought that maybe he was busy at his still or skinning a Bigfoot or something. Then there was a pickup. I said “Hello? Hello? Uncle Roy, are you there?”
Nobody answered. It was quiet at first; too quiet. Then I heard a growling sound. It was real quiet at first, then rose in volume and ferocity. It sounded dog like, but from a really BIG dog. Then I heard another beast growling in the background. I could tell by the timbre of the second growl that it came from another source.
Then there was a blood curdling howl. It sounded as if I had accidentally dialed a hotline straight to Hell. The ungodly and demonic sounds coming through my receiver made me freeze in terror. I said “Uncle Roy?!? Are you there?!? What’s going on?!?!?!”
Then something happened because all hell broke loose on the other end. There were growls - vicious growls - and sounds of a struggle. Then I heard what sounded like a man letting out a battle cry, “AAHHHHHHHH!!!!” There were some thuds, more vicious growls, and then “Die ya sumbitch!”, followed by the sound of a yelping hurt dog. Then “BOOM!!” and another yelp. What in the heck was going on?!? It sounded like some kind of horrific murder scene.
Then uncle Roy picked up. “Who in tarnation this here be?” Roy asked in an agitated voice. I said “Uncle Roy? It’s me, The General! What’s going on?!? Are you ok?!?” Roy said “General? Well, Goddamn, boy! You has got ya sum Goddamn good timing, let me Tells ya! You jest saved my life, son!” He continued, “Looky here, General, I gots me sum unfinished bidnez here. Let me clean up this slop and I’ll give ya a ring in a little while. Don’t worry nun abouts me. I is fine now! Heh heh heh!”
So late last night uncle Roy called me back. He explained that he had been in an ordeal when I called, but he managed to get himself out of it. I asked him to tell me what happened, which he did. What follows is my transcription of uncle Roy’s story, kept as authentic as possible.
“Well sir, I had got my ass up early yesterday cuz I had to go down into town to pick me up a special package at the UPS store. I went on down there, picked it up, loaded it into the back of my old pick-em-up truck and headed home. When I got to me parking spot off the side of the road, I had my old mule, “Jethro” tide to a tree and a’watin fer me. I strapped the crate onta Jethro’s back and led that sumbitch up the side of the mountain and on inta Sasquatch Hollar. After a couple hours we made it to my cabin.”
“I unloaded that thar mule, then put him in the shed. I dragged my package inside and fetched me crowbar to open her up. Well, I pried it open, pulled out all that thar protective wrap, and there she was: Ariana Grande!!”
I paused and then asked, “Ariana Grande? What? You mean that idiot singer?” Roy replied, “Yep, that’s who I mean.”
I start thinking, “Oh shit... Roy kidnapped that ditzy pop singer out of some sort of preternatural attraction. He is going to make her into some kind of farm-hand/sex-slave.” I said, “Roy, is she ... alive?” Roy responded, “Fuck no, boy, she ain’t alive. She’s fer fuckin”. That did not make me feel any better.
I love my Uncke Roy. But he is a very peculiar man who is not troubled by things like morality and laws. I know Roy has done some messed up stuff, but abduction and necrophilia had never crossed my mind.
I said “Roy, you got to get rid of her body. She’s a pop star. They are going to be looking for her. Uncle Roy, you can’t do this”. Roy responded, “What the fuck is you goin on about, boy?”. I told him “Roy, you have possession of a dead celebrity and you want to fuck it. Goddamn, that’s sick!”
Uncle Roy then broke out laughing. He said, “You fucking asshole! She ain’t no real girl. This here is one of them thar sex robots. It cost me a pretty penny too. I wanted one that looked like Gwen Stefani, but they wanted too much money fer that one. They gives me a big discount if’s I take one of them thar Arianna Grande models. I don’t even know who in the hell she is, but she looks like one of them thar hybrid girls, you know, half white and half somethin er other.”
Ah, a sex robot. Uncle Roy got a sex robot. I was relieved. After I realized my mistake I turned my attention back to the story and what the hell happened earlier. I asked Roy to continue.
“So, I got that Grande doll out of the box and sat it there on the couch. I sed to her ‘My, ain’t you a purty thang! Now git in that thar kitchen and fixes me up sum grub. GIT!’. But, that robot didn’t move one anch. I commanded her agin. Nuthin. I thought to myself ‘either this thang is broke er it’s so lifelike that it’s got a bitch’s attitude and needs to be treated jest right to werk.’ So I decided to give it another try.”
“I sits down next to Ariana, puts my arm around her, and puts my other hand high on the ham. I then leaned over and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek. I said, ‘Baby, go whips me up sum vittles and I’ll let ya suck my cock while I eats em.’ Still, nothin.”
“So I figured she wuz playing hard to git, and I wuz Not havin me any of that. So I grabbed that bitch by the hair and punched her in the throat, repeatly. Well, apparently, I hit her too goddamn hard cuz her hed came off in my hand. ‘SHIT!!’, I yelled. This cheap motherfucker dun fell apart before I even git ta fuck her.”
“So I studied the situation and cyphered that I best git what I can while I can. I pulled out my old wang and stuck it in her mouth while I held the severed hed to my crotch. Nuthin. Now, I bought this fucking thang because it’s a robot and supposed to move and act like a real woman. I wuz gettin a might pissed. I tried harder, face-fucking that thar thang. Nuthin.”
“I yelled ‘FUCK!!’, and slung that Ariana Grande head agin the wall. It hit with a loud ‘THUD’ and then fell on the floor. Then a thought hit me. Maybe this thang needs to be turned on. It is a robot after all. Shit, fer that matter it prolly needs to be charged up. Well, sir, I knew how to rectify this here situation.
“I dragged that headless Ariana Grande doll body out to my shed where I kept my tractor. So what I did wuz I got me a pair of jumper cables and attached them to the battry on my John Deere. I cranked that muthafuka ta life and then I attached the other end to Ariana by clamping them to her little wine-glass titties. As I did I sed, ‘Oh, excuse me, Ms. Grande’, as I chuckled to myself.”
“After a minute of chargin, that old headless Grande doll started smoking. I wuz all fandangled, and let out a ‘SHIT FIRE!!!’ Her little titties were a’ meltin!! I frantically unhooked the bitch and put out the far. Dejected and defeated, I dragged that robotic bitch back inta my cabin.”
“So there she wuz, laying on my living room floor, right on my Sasquatch skin rug, the severed Grande robot hed and its topless body with burned-up titties. I decided to study on this situation a bit while I eats me sum vittles.”
“I had me sound ground Bigfoot meat thawin out, and it wuz ready to fix up. I wuz planning on making me up sum Sasquatch burgers. Now, ya got to understand that Sasquatch meat ain’t like no cow or pig meat. This Bigfoot meat is sum nasty shit. First of all, it’s dark meat. And I mean it is black! It is also greasy as goose shit. It’s kind of like bar meat, but nastier.”
“You cain’t jest mold Bigfoot meat inta a burger, ya see. You gots to put sum stuff inta it to make it mold together. You can mix ya in some hamburger meat, or bread crumbs, or whatever. But tonight I had me sumthang REAL special to mix in. I had acquired me sum fresh hawg semen and cow blood! I got it down at the local slaughter house. They jest give that shit away!!!”
“What I like to do is put that old Sasquatch meat in a big old bowl, all ground up, then poor in the blood and semen. Then I roll up my sleeves and dive in with my hands, grinding and squeezing and mixin it all up. See, hog jizz is a lot thicker than human jizz. It’s also a lot tastier, lending a nice bouillabaisse note to the dish. The cow blood gives it a nice tangy body. I also like to ad some A-1 sauce to da mix.”
“Now, Son, ya got to bear sumthang in mind here. Yer old Uncle Roy is gettin on up thar in years. In fact, I don’t even know how old I is. But I do know that sumtimes I slip up whar I used to be sharp as a whip. This here wuz one of those days.”
“Ya see, I had kilt me a big old 10’ tall Sasquatch a couple week ago. That skanky sumbitch came a creepin’ up to my shed in the dead of night. They know that’s whar I stash sum of my hooch, and they like to sneak in there and get ‘em a sip. What that sumbitch did not know is that I been havin sum run-ins with them thar damn dogmans lately and I wuz out and about on my property.”
“Now, Son, I know ya know what a dogman is. They is basically a werewolf. The sumbitches is wolves but they can stand and walk on 2 legs like a man. They anywhere from 7’ to 15’ tall, and they is pure evil! They also is dangerous. They a lot more dangerous than a Bigfoot.”
“Them thar Bigfoots Are Big, dumb apes. BUT, they is smart enough to know when they been whipped. Ya see, me and then sumbitches pretty much got us an understanding that if they don’t fuck with me, then I won’t kill ‘em. Therefore, they give me my space. That sed, they will still fuck round witcha, like sneaking around trying to steal your shine stash, just like a bunch of naggers.”
“But these damn dogmen ain’t like that. Oh, sure, they is smart. But they ain’t got no self-awareness like a Bigfoot. They am full o hate! A Bigfoot will contemplate, it will study a situation. That old dog man, he is pure evil straight from hell. They ain’t worth a shit fer eatin either. They taste like sulfur! I don’t want anything to do with them nasty beasts. When I Kills em I jest drag em off my mountain and set the nasty turds on fire.”
“So, a pack of them thar dogmans came through Sasquatch Hollar. I knowed they been fucking around on my homestead cuz I seen the paw prints. We ain’t got us none of them thar wolves here in North Carolina. So, when you see them really big canine tracks suddenly show up on your property, you can know they is dogman.”
So, there I wuz, on my rooftop, with a jug of shine and a 6.5 Creedmore rifle with nightvision optics. I wuz a’plannin to kill me sum dogman scum when up came this dumbass old Sasquatch, slinking up to my old shed to get him a nip of Old Roy’s mountain shine.”
“I watched that Bigfoot fer a long time, peeking out from behind trees, tiptoeing closer a little at a time, craning his neck to make sure nobody wuz around, then tiptoeing sum more. It wuz Goddamn pathetic! Them Bigfoots are nuthin but giant pussies. It took that dumb bitch 10 minutes to get from the hard woodline to the door of my shed.”
“That old Sasquatch did not know I wuz anywhar around. I had been following it’s movement through the nightvision scope on my rifle. By the time it got to my cabin I had flipped the safety off. Then it got to my shed. It stepped up to the shed door, slowly put its paw on the door latch, then looked to its left. Then it looked to the right, slowly turning its entire upper body in that direction. Then it turned back to the shed door, presumably about to enter.”
“BOOM!!!!!” The report of the 6.5 blast wuz a’ deafening! That critter’s head exploded like a cantaloupe, splattering blood and brain everywhar! It wuz a glorious sight to behold!”
“I decided I would let that dead critter lay where it died fer a spell as bait fer them sumbitchin Dogmans. Unfortunately, it didn’t werk that night, or else they jest don’t like Bigfoot meat. They is, after all, natural enemies of each other, the dogman and the Sasquatch.”
“So, at dawn, I dragged that headless Bigfoot into my cabin and laid it out on my kitchen counter. Any veteran Sasquatcher knows that you got to tenderize that critter a’fer ya can eat it. Only a newb skins a Sasquatch and throws it right on the grill. So I commenced to beaten the corpse with a mallet. Then, I wuz gonna jest let it lay there an rot fer a few days, like how ya age beef. It won’t hurt ya one bit to rot yer meat a bit a’fer eatin it.”
“Now here’s a’where I fucked up. I needed to gut that sumbitchin critter. But, I had received a cyber notice that a new amateur video of an Asian chick being fucked on a public bus Had jest been uploaded on Pornhub. I decided to take me a look at it, then gut the squatch later. Well, later never come. I fell asleep and then totally fergot about the task. That dead critter laid out on my kitchen counter fer a good 2 weeks, it did. I guess I jest kind of assumed the cleaning job wuz all dun.”
“So, fast-forward ahead and there I wuz, gettin ready to fix me sum Sasquatch burgers. I had my ground up Bigfoot meat all mixed up in a bowl with hog jism and cow blood, and completely in the dark on the current internal chemical happenins with that Bigfoot corpse laid out on my kitchen counter. I noticed it wuz gettin a’kind of bloated. But I did not know that it was because of all those internal gases buildin’ up in the dead critter’s body cavity. I sure as shit did not know it wuz about to explode!”
“Then it happened. KA-BOOOOOOM!!! That Sasquatch corpse a’layin’ on my counter plum exploded!! Rotten Bigfoot guts and blood went everywhere! It covered my kitchen and my livinroom. Everthang!”
“Well sir, I wuz pissed! I started throwin shit, and tearin up shit. I even drew my .44 magum and started blasting shit. Then I saw that goddamn headless Ariana Grande robot layin on the floor. ‘Fuck it’, I thought. ‘Jest FUCK IT!’ So I took down my draws and raped that thang!!”
“Well, I did not know - because of all the goins on in my cabin - that a couple of them thar nasty Dogmans had snuck up and was a’watchin me through the winder. What a sight they must have seen! There I wuz, in the middle of a blood and gut soaked scene, bare-assed and fucking that headless doll.”
“That scene must’ve driven them Dogmans inta a hot-n-heavy, horny, murder frenzy, cuz they smashed down my door, grabbed me and the headless Grande robot, and dragged us off into the woods. Man, I was a’scairt! These Dogmans were big. They both stood a good 12’ tall, or MORE!”
“Those rotten critters dragged me off into their lair, a cave just the other side of Poltergeist Ridge. They throwed me down against the far cave wall. Then they turned their attention to the doll. They both had ‘em a couple big old red shankers stickin out of their loins. They would sniff the doll, then try to mount it. The holes weren’t big enough to accommodate their big dog wangs, so they would get all frustrated and growl at the robot, then they would try agin.”

“With them dogmen distracted by the phone, I decided it wuz time to make my move. I bolted forward and grabbed what wuz left of that Ariana Grande sex doll -pretty much just the torso - and used it as a club, beating the shit out of them thar dogman critters. I wuz a’fightin fer my life!”
“I wuz a’swangin old Ariana around and a’whackin them critters off! I remembered the Kabar knife on my belt and whipped out that sumbitch. Then I used Ariana as a shield. I closed in on the first critter, which wuz already wounded, and stabbed it right in its heart. It let out an unholy ‘yelp’ as I hit the organ.”
“Then the other dogman lunged at me. In one motion I swiftly withdrew the long knife from the heart of the first critter and slashed at the second one, slicing its hard-on clean off. Then that one let out a yelp and a cry of pain as it reached down and grabbed its crotch. I sed, ‘Take that, bitch!’, and thrust my blade into its heart. ‘Boom!’, it hit the ground!”
“Both them motherfuckers were ded! Then I answered the phone, and it twere you, General. You saved my life!”
Roy went on to tell me that he burned the bodies of the Dogman creatures, and the Ariana Grande fuckbot. He then went into town to see his insurance man to file a claim on his homeowners policy for the mess at his cabin. He checked into a local hotel called “The Sasquatch Inn” while ServPro is out at his home cleaning up the mess. After he got settled in for the night he called me and told me this encounter story.

Siddhartha Gautama, who later became known as Buddha, was born into a royal family in ancient India in 563 BC.
As a young prince, Siddhartha lived in a palace amidst luxury, and shielded from the harsh realities of the world.
However, his curiosity led him to venture beyond the palace walls. During one of these excursions, he saw old age, sickness, and death —fundamental aspects of human existence that deeply troubled him.
Shocked but determined to understand the nature of life, suffering and to find a way to alleviate it, Siddhartha renounced his princely life at the age of 29 as was foretold by the court astrologer.
He embarked on a spiritual quest, seeking guidance from renowned teachers and by engaging in rigorous ascetic practices.
Despite his dedication, Siddhartha remained dissatisfied. He realized that extreme asceticism did not lead to enlightenment but rather weakened the body and mind. Rejecting this path, he decided to follow a middle way—a balanced approach that neither indulged in worldly pleasures nor rejected them outright.
One fateful night, while meditating beneath a Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, Siddhartha experienced profound insights. He saw the interconnectedness of all beings, the impermanence of existence, and the root causes of suffering—desire, ignorance, and attachment.
At the age of 35, Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment and became Buddha, which means "the awakened one." His teachings, known as the Dharma, revolved around the Four Noble Truths:
  1. The truth of suffering (Dukkha): Life is inherently unsatisfactory due to impermanence, change, and the cycle of birth and death.
  2. The true cause of suffering (Samudaya): The root cause of suffering is desire, attachment, and ignorance.
  3. The truth of the cessation of suffering (Nirodha): Suffering can be ended by letting go of desires and attachments, attaining nirvana (liberation).
  4. The true path to the cessation of suffering (Magga): The Eightfold Path, which includes right understanding, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration, which leads to the cessation of suffering and the realization of nirvana.

The beach by night
I wiggled my feet and toes in random directions in attempts to bury them under the cool sand, tentatively, for it was nearly midnight and I was deterred by the remote possibility of being pinched or stung by anonymous beach behemoths. The painted sky, the enigmatic ocean's convulsive sways, and the golden arenaceous carpets of the beach have all amalgamated together to present for me a divine and surreal view and a plethora of contradicting, but ecstatic, sentiments witnessed by my meticulous and festiduous senses.
I raised my head to communionly discern the infinite sombre and eerily dark, but decorated with elegant, shiny and glowing stars like gems, sky. Celestial constellations practiced for millennials to reveal intricate shapes that could only be noticed by the unique human imagination. Therefore, we get the luxury of contemplating the obsequious, unrelentingly high night sky, and that's precisely what had occurred to me that night. Stars were positioned so sporadically, initially, as though god flicked white paint using a brush onto a black board - the sky - to create this masterpiece. I was facing the sinister ocean and above it was the moon, unfazingly floating and submissively asserting its dominance by ethereally and opulently glowing to benevolently cast its blessed splendor on the beach and to faintly illuminate my vicinity. Although it was a full moon that was assiduously incandensating the vast blue, one could say the moon failed to make the ocean look safer.
After affectionately gazing at the moon, I lowered my head to try and see the fine, thin horizon, but in vain, for it was too dark. However, the ocean seemed to extend as far as the eye could see. Although infested by ruthless creatures, and that very idea makes me go numb and develops dark eye bags under my eyes as a result of petrification and fear, the spasmodic strident, euphonious flushings of the waves, accompanied with gentle zephyres that passionately caressed my sticky face and fleecy hair, as a result of dire humidity, made the ocean appear less ominuous. A warrior wave, after trespassing and surviving the vicious flushing battles, reached the shore in exhaustion with only one mission in mind: to cover the helpless exposed sand exactly how a loving mother covers her children from the cold with a blanket, then retreating back to the ocean.
Apparently, the waves could only cover a very small portion of the incomprehensibly cavernous shore. With my feet still sank amid the sand, the fine granules rubbed against the crevices between my toes, which made it feel spicy, reminiscent to cinnamon granules. My feet acted like roots, holding me up straight like a tree whilst they were embedded in the soft floor. Like a tree, I was susceptible to intimidating cool breezes. Although they caressed my face, as adumbrated earlier, it carried with it microscopic sand particles that tickled my nostrils and smelled musty and noisome. Minutes after rejoicing the magnificent scenery, my mouth tasted salty and I soon became parched. I leaned down to drink from my water bottle, and the rejuvenating water cascaded down my throat to revitalise it. After satisfying my crave, I ended it with a bold long burp and an impish giggle.

2024.04.28 14:49 Proof-Ad-3485 Completely borked my LOD trying to fix an issue with Lucky 38 lights redone and am totally lost at this point

So, I'd wanted to do another run of FNV after it'd been a few years and so I decided to follow the VNV guide to get my FNV up to modern scratch in terms of mods, moving over from FOMM to MO2 in the process.
Got that all set up and then proceeded to move across some other mods i'd used in the past, things still all good until I stumbled upon the lucky 38, with the "lucky 38 lights redone" lighting completely detached from the building itself and the lucky 38 only popping into existence when I was very close.
Got to work trying to fix the issue, following every forum in terms of suggested fixing, fucking around with my load order in every possible way, I'd read a suggestion saying to generate my own custom LOD, so I downloaded xLodGen and got to work following all of the steps that were listed here: https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/lod.html
I took the resulting mesh and textures output from that lodgen and made it into it's own mod in MO2.
Anyway, that failed to fix "Lucky 38 lights redone" and at that point i'd decided to just throw that heap of shit mod out, but generating my LOD has left my game looking like this:

PS1 environmental objects until I get very close to them, buildings that are half see through, schizophrenic mountain, terrain As I've so far read this may be an issue with my NMC and OJO BUENO texture packs, but I've also got mods related to LOD's for NMC that that should fix this, but clearly not, should I just get rid of my texture packs? I've so many LOD fixes and patches at this point, i've tried several times to regenerate my LOD tinkering with generation settings each time.

PS1 environmental objects until I get very close to them, buildings that are half see through, schizophrenic mountain, terrain As I've so far read this may be an issue with my NMC and OJO BUENO texture packs, but I've also got mods related to LOD's for NMC that that should fix this, but clearly not, should I just get rid of my texture packs? I've so many LOD fixes and patches at this point, i've tried several times to regenerate my LOD tinkering with generation settings each time.

2024.04.28 14:26 Proof-Ad-3485 [FNV] Completely borked my LOD trying to fix an issue with Lucky 38 lights redone and am totally lost at this point

So, I'd wanted to do another run of FNV after it'd been a few years and so I decided to follow the VNV guide to get my FNV up to modern scratch in terms of mods, moving over from FOMM to MO2 in the process.
Got that all set up and then proceeded to move across some other mods i'd used in the past, things still all good until I stumbled upon the lucky 38, with the "lucky 38 lights redone" lighting completely detached from the building itself and the lucky 38 only popping into existence when I was very close.
Got to work trying to fix the issue, following every forum in terms of suggested fixing, fucking around with my load order in every possible way, I'd read a suggestion saying to generate my own custom LOD, so I downloaded xLodGen and got to work following all of the steps that were listed here: https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/lod.html
I took the resulting mesh and textures output from that lodgen and made it into it's own mod in MO2.
Anyway, that failed to fix "Lucky 38 lights redone" and at that point i'd decided to just throw that heap of shit mod out, but generating my LOD has left my game looking like this:

2024.04.28 10:54 GloveIll7701 Newbie question - network switch set up

Hi all - I just moved into a new house and trying to set up the network.
- There is a 24 port network switch on the top floor. This cannot be moved. Every room in the house has a wired ethernet port connected to this.
- The fibre internet comes into the house on the ground floor, where there is an ONT (Optical Network Terminal), connected to an ethernet port (labelled port 1). The ONT also cannot be moved.
I plugged in the router provided by the ISP to one of the network switch ports, as well as the patch port 1 (which is wired to the ONT)
I then connected each of the labelled ethernet ports in the house from the patch ports to switch ports.
My internet speeds when connecting to the ethernet ports around the house are now much lower than the speeds I can achieve directly from the router (500Mbps wirelessly direct from the router, vs. 80Mbps when using the wired network). Am I doing something wrong here and could someone recommend a better set-up? Thanks in advance.
