Aww, cripes. I didn't know I'd have to write a description. How many words is that so far, like a hundred? Soooo, yeah. Mildly interesting stuff. Stuff that interests you. Mildly. It's in the name, ffs.

2024.05.14 23:02 SpiralCee Every Day ... Still

My sister died suddenly on Oct. 24, 2020. I still miss her every day. EVERY DAY. Her husband has remarried. Her kids seem fine. I don't know how they are doing it.
I heard a song today and immediately thought, "I have to send this to her!" And then burst into tears, cried for 10 minutes, just wrecked. I can't get to that place that others have gotten to. They say, "Oh, she would have loved this song" and put heart emojis and smiley faces and angels.
I don't think I want to get to that place. My life is grey without her. I have no one. I'm just waiting for it to be over.

2024.05.14 22:58 romic007 Ninja Kamui had so much potential

I just binged watched the series. Gotta say the first 6 episodes were great. However it really lost its momentum after that. I give it 7/10
I would've changed a few things that i think would've been better.
Ps this is just my opinion. This is more of a rant but i hope u enjoy.
These are the problems/potential solutions with the show in my opinion.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
With the first episode and the first scene. I think showing the quick fight scene with one of the exiled Ninjas was kind of a waste of action that could've been used somewhere else. I also think they should've shown the face hologram reveal here. I think the face hologram kinda ruined it in a way since the best action was from Higan with that hologram on his face. We don't see his real face til the best action of the show is done. I think it would be cool if the audience sees his true face while the world he is in sees the hologram face. Maybe a scene at the grocery store while he looks in the window sees his reflection and its the hologram face while the audience sees his real face. My second gripe with Episode 1 is the best episode of the whole series. It is the episode that pulls you in and makes you watch the whole series. But as much as i loved the episode i feel like they should have stretched it out into 2 episodes. Like I said at the beginning with the unknown exiles ninja getting his very own fight scene yet Mari (Higan's wife) she barely showed any action throughout the whole show. I wish they just showed the ending of the exiled ninja where he is executed. Then shifts to Higan and his family living their best life while 1 by 1 exiled ninjas are killed. Then the night of the family's demise we see Mari show her skills as a ninja. Maybe a side by side shot of both of them fighting/killing. Maybe showing that just by the sheer numbers and the fact that she was protecting her son then going all out would lead to her downfall. I think stretching out that sequence with Mari showing her skills would've been better than showing a random exile showing off only to be killed off in a min. I think by the time Higan is in the hospital clutching his fist as he is in the hospital bed would be a great way to end episode 1. Then the hospital scene would be extended. Showing the fight scene where the fbi guy discovered the bodies. Then the whole scene for when Higan burns down his home and puts on the mask would be episode 2. I think extending episode 1 into 2 episodes would have been better.
For the side characters none of them really stuck out for me. Except for Emma and maybe Dilly. As for Morris he really wasn't necessary in the plot. I feel like Emma should have played a more prominent role over Morris given the backstory she has and her relationship with Mari (Higan's wife). She like many others had potential that was wasted. I think if she was the main side character the story would flow better. It felt like to me that Morris was just thrown in there for nothing. As well as the former chief of the ninja clan that Higan was apart of. He is portrayed as a healer that use to be with the clan but turns out he is the dead former head. He used some ninjutsu technique that kept his head alive. I feel like his presence should have played either a bigger role than it did or shouldn't have existed to begin with.
As for the villains i can say all of them were unfortunately disappointing. Especially Zai and Yamari who had the biggest potential. As for the other villains (afro guy, little pervert, Joseph, etc.) they felt like they were just added to the story to fill in the episodes. Joseph had too much screen time. I believe he should've been more of a subordinate than a "partner" with Yamari. Following his orders instead being a whiny annoying little shit. Yamari fell flat as well had a kool ninjutsu technique that he only used once. I was expecting a big show down between him and Higan but it didn't live up to the hype. Zai had the most upside former friend of Higan and Mari who was left behind when they fled to be a normal married couple while he stayed in the clan. Out of all the characters Zai had the most development. Solid backstory but his transition from big bad to anti hero/villain was sloppy.
For the mech and Ninjutsu stuff. This was could've been so good ninjutsu mixed with Mech could have been cool but how it was executed turned into mech beating the shit out of ninjutsu. I would have had the mech be used as like a booster to the ninja and his techniques making his/her ninjutsu techniques even more destructive/powerful. But instead we got ninjutsu getting demoralized by the new tech mech. I wished they explored the techniques more and if and how the mechs could boost the effects of said techniques.Which ultimately started the downfall of Ninja Kamui.
Now the main character Higan
I liked his true design not the hologram face. Especially his mask. I was disappointed that the mask was destroyed so soon. His character for the first couple episodes was good. But he went from this rage filled demon out for vengeance into a moody middle age man. His development was weird and not satisfying. His ending was disappointing as well.
What i would change with Higan would be that he didn't survive his death at the hands of the assassins. He used some ninjutsu technique that has allowed him to live a little longer. I think this would go well with the fast pace that we had the first few episodes. With each passing episode Higan gets more reckless and ruthless knowing his time is limited and running out. I think Higan should've died after completing his vengeance. I think he wouldn't want to live anymore especially without his wife and son. I also think a few episodes seeing his upbringing with Mari and Zai would have been better than the fights with the little pervert and Afro guy. I think it would have been cool for Zai to get redemption and live on for Higan and Mari.
Episode 1 would be stretched into 2 episodes
Episode 2-5 wouldn't change that much while episode 6-9 would be the backstory of Higan and the other seeing what drove them away in more detail. Episode 10-13 would be the Higan facing Zai, Emma death, final showdown between Higan and Yamari. With NO CGI FIGHTS
Again this is just my opinion i really did like the show but it definitely wasted a ton of potential everywhere

2024.05.14 22:51 elonmusksramen Should I(19F) come clean to my boyfriend (22M) about a lie me and my best friend (19F) have been telling for months?

I (19 F) and my Best Friend (19 F) have been lying to everyone we know that we are cousins.
For context, I have a summer birthday and turn 20 in 2 months. I graduated high school early (as did a lot of people in my area due to covid) and came out to college at 17 the winter semester of 2022. I was at college for a year and a half before I met my now best friend from randomly rooming in an off campus apartment at the beginning of this last school year This was her first year at college, as she is almost a year younger than me, and graduated in 2023. We clicked INSTANTLY and have become inseparably close ever since.
Our entire immediate and extended families all know each other, and we will often take trips and stay with her family. And when my family came into town, she stayed with us the whole time. Our families love each other, and meeting her has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, I feel like I have known her my entire life. My cousins who live in the area all call her cousin, and she comes to all the family functions.
Because we lived together, we share all of our belongings and even grocery shop together. Since we became so close so fast, and stayed at her family's house only a few weeks into the school year, people always asked us how we knew each other and would not believe us when we said we were random roommates. So instead, we started saying we were cousins and nobody questioned it. We became curious if we were actually related as we both have pretty large families, and used the app family tree to see if we were. To our surprise, we were somewhere between 3rd and 5th cousins, I can't quite remember. It was through my Grammy, and our moms sides of the family.
We are close with a few of both my cousins on my mom's side and her cousins fromher mom's side, and both of them just call the other "cousin", and have all accepted the other into the family. We even call each other's parents aunt and uncle as we will see or talk to them frequently. We will stay at each other's family and extended family. Everyone has welcomed the other with open arms into the family, and this made our lie seem even more real. This became so normal to us, that we would forget sometimes that it was sort of a lie. Whenever cousins would come to stay with us during the year, they called us both cousin no matter who's it was.
There were a couple other things that inadvertently helped our case too. For one, she was online at a different school the first semester as she had started college the last year of high school and had to finish it but still wanted to live in the college town she would be attending next semester, so people assumed she moved here to live with me. Second, my mom's mom is called Grammy and her mom's mom is called Gammy so whenever we talk about them, nobody notices that we are saying something different as they are super similar. And lastly, all the cousin's that came to stay with us or that we are close to are all from both our mom's sides and the ones we are still both technically related to.
During the year, we would tell all the people we met and it wasn't ever really an issue. The most people would question is that we don't look super alike as she is blonde and I have dark brown hair with tan skin, so sometimes people would ask how we were related and we would say our moms as both our moms are blonde. Early on we met a bunch of guys that ended up becoming our best friends. I started dating one of the guys in the group a few months later. The 3 of us became super close, and we never told him that we weren't cousins. One of the guys in the group that i'll call B, has two cousins in the group but from opposite sides. Because they were actual cousins, they wanted to know how we were related so we said our moms and when they asked if they were sisters we agreed.
Up until about 6 months ago, this was all there was to it and it wasn't really a big deal or that deep, just kind of funny. But things took a bit of a turn when one of B's cousins E had a thing with one of my actual cousin's roommates. Her roommate accidentally let it slip to E that me and my best friend weren't really cousins. Luckily my cousin gave us a heads up, so we knew they might ask. E ended up telling all of the other guys while they were at the gym that day and my boyfriend texted me saying "Bro no way you guys have been lying to me this whole time" when I asked how, he said "yall aren't even cousins" and then added "by blood".
We probably should have come clean then and there, but we had another one of our friends over who also thought we were cousins and didn't feel explaining to him or everyone that we had been lying for months. So naturally, we doubled down. But my boyfriend didn't believe us and asked for proof. When I said I would find a picture (my mom's family is huge so we could have played it off) he said to show him the family tree app. So we took an ss of our relation to each other and put another ss on top of it so it looked like it said we were just cousins instead of 3rd. That ended the debate as E and the girl never became anything so the guys just assumed it was bad intel, and never asked us about it again.
Now here comes the major problem. My best friend decided to do a year and a half long humanitarian trip and is having a party to say goodbye at her house this weekend. Me and my boyfriend are going up on Thursday (which is in 2 days) and her family is all coming into town. Her dad's mom and her mom's parents will all be there. My boyfriend has been with us when we were on a face time call with her family and her Gammy months ago, and has also met my Grammy, and was even at a family dinner this past weekend. However, since talking to Gammy and meeting Grammy were spaced apart so far he never questioned or asked about it, and we never gave it a second thought. The other day when we were at my Grammy's house, he snapped my best friend who is currently home saying "guess where I am", it was clear he assumed that Grammy was our mutual grandparent so she just went along with it.
We have been lying so long that we don't know what to do about this weekend. We talked to her mom and one of her aunts who know about the situation and they think it is hilarious. It started out as an innocent joke and just letting people assume our grandmas are the same person, but we are so deep in it at this point that we don't know if we should come clean or not.
At this point we have 3 options: 1: we come completely clean, 2: we slightly lie and say we are 2nd cousins which isn't that far from the truth, or 3: lie even more and keep pretending to be first cousins.
Her mom thinks we are in too deep to come clean at this point and is willing to go along with whatever we tell him. We came up with a plan that would further enforce the lie that goes as follows: Her Gammy and my (now dead) grandad were married and had 2 kids: the first one died (my mom has a sister that died as a baby) and the second one was her mom. They divorced after the death as it was hard on the marriage and both got remarried. My grandad to my Grammy, and her Gammy to her grandfather. Gammy got custody of her mom, and both couples had more kids and moved on with their lives.
This would make us half cousins and our moms half sisters. You wouldn't really refer to your half cousin as anything but a cousin, and it would explain why we were weird when people asked if our moms were sisters. Additionally, the sister that died is a real thing and asking anyone about it would make our lie seem true. It is messy enough to where it would be like oh we don't talk about it and he won't want to ask questions, but not messy enough with like affairs and cheating to where it makes our families look bad. Her mom and aunt and cousins will all go along with it as the find the whole thing funny. The issue is, this would make us get involved so deep and having lies that include dead family members feels disrespectful.
At this point I don't know what to do, should we come completely clean now? Should we come partially clean and admit to lying about our mom's being sisters and the family tree app ss being fake? Or do we keep lying and go with everything we've said for a year now? I'm worried that my boyfriend will feel betrayed by everyone lying to him, no matter when it is if it's now or if we keeping lying and he finds out later. I don't want him to be hurt and question other things in our relationship, as this is the ONLY thing I have ever lied to him about. There is a chance that if we keep lying he will never find out, but there's also a chance that he will. I honestly forgot about all of this, and when me an my best friend facetimed a few minutes ago we realized we are so screwed.
Please help lol I feel like an idiot and I don't know what to do šŸ˜

Pocket Idler: Fishing Pond v1.3 ā€“ New Gameplay Improvements and Enhancements

After a very long weekend of gameplay adjustments and playtesting, version 1.3 is out now of Pocket Idler: Fishing Pond!
Iā€™ve been getting lots of great feedback, and a few common things have popped up that seemed very important to address: the start of the game was too slow and boring, and the ticket/markup system was a bit confusing.
To remedy this, version 1.3 brings in double pond capacity and double customer rate along with various balancing to make the game start a bit faster and keeps it less boring; although, itā€™s still and idler, so it will still start at a slower pace than later in the game.
Tickets and markup % have had their maxes increased to $1k and 300%, respectively. Along with this you now have a customer happiness that is visualized by a classic smiley face, and it will affect the customerā€™s spawn rate, making adjustment more engaging.
There are tons more features coming, but this was important to get going, first. Iā€™ll be listening still to new feedback to make sure itā€™s perfect. Thank you all for your support, hope to see you at the pond!
Check it out now on itch!
Get it on Steam!

2024.05.14 22:50 strangelilgrrl 21 [F4M] Anywhere/Online/USA/Moscow - dare to poke at my mind's eye.

/dramatical music goes on/
the girl was sitting on a sofa with her elbows resting on the kitchen table to the point of getting sore. her posture was shrimpish, with head sticking out at a weird angle, like a shy tortoise reacting out for some lettuce. the expression on her face didn't really suit her age.
if you only knew that she went to sleep at 3 am and woke up at 1 pm, much unwillingly, you'd understand that almost every decision she made over last few years was of a ruinous nature. the girl was staring at her phonescreen, typing words that were slowly turning into sentences but it was just another sampler.
a few hours went by and she moved to her bed island, listening to random psychedelic old man's music playing on her earphones and thinking to herself "eh, my life sucks".
that would be the reason as to why now she was writing another letter into the void instead of a nice biographical epos.
my dearest one, i don't know what to say. i've been dedicating you all sorts of silly things for months and it didn't help me, not in the least. i thought it would have some therapeutic effect on my sick mind but i was proved wrong. even though my outer shell may appear infallible, my inner components are in the middle of a non-ending breakdown.
i wish i could do something to redeem myself and then you'd show up straight out of the blue.
i need to know that everything is going to be ok.
i need reassurance.
i need to feel seen.
there has to be a sensation but my raging madness to rely upon.

~ General Recommendations (All Consoles) For Anyone Who Can't Decide ~

First off, I won't recommend big or famous games like Final Fantasy or Persona, this is more for lesser know, hidden gems, or just games where it's hard to find someone talking about them.

[Valkyria Chronicles]

[Valkyria Chronicles 4]

This one is really hard to explain through words alone, but just in case, the VC series is a World War 2 military setting story, where you act as the lead of a squad and take mission to drive back the enemy. The story is drama heavy and the gameplay is tactical turn-based, but it's mixed with real-time third person shooter.
You can also make your own army by recruiting different types of solders, training them and upgrading their gear. From rifles to tanks, this is a game you have to experience to understand.

[Fuga: Melodies of Steel 1 & 2]

Great game, great art style, and really well made and balanced turn-based combat. That alone is enough to get the game. Then you add the time-management part of the game, where you spend time upgrading the different tank rooms, cooking, exploring ruins, spending time to bond with other characters, and so on. It's also great if you want a game that you can play for an hour or 2 and then put down for later. As the game is played through stages, and once you're done with a stage, you get an intermission to do what you want and come back to it later.
It's not a long game (compared to the usual JRPG), as you mentioned, it's about 20 hours. Story-wise I think it was a bit too short. Gameplay wise it was great fit, because it didn't outstay it's welcome, and it ends when you feel you have mastered the gameplay and want to face the final challenge.
The story is good, but isn't the focus. Gameplay is the main focus. In fact you'll feel that a lot of context isn't told in the story, but instead left for you to either read about in the in-game wiki or just figure out through obvious clues in the story.
There is a big mechanic that this meant to put a lot of pressure on your playthrough (don't worry about it being spoiled because it's literally explained in the first hour of the game). The thing is though, if you have experience in JRPGs or just play in a really well thought out and relaxed manner, then that mechanic might not be as big a deal as they make it seem to be. Yet it's still fun nonetheless.
Fuga 2 is even better. It fixes a lot of the minor issues the first game had, and what's really great, is it improved the "big pressure" mechanic I talked about, and now it actually is a big deal. Then add to that so much little new mechanics added that just makes for a much more fun and challenging game. The 2nd game also continues the same story.

[Ni no Kuni] Series

If you're looking for that great Isekai fantasy adventure feel, then these two games are where it's at. Fantastic visuals and great music, coupled with a great art style, a combo that is perfect for a chill and relaxed gaming experience. Especially when talking about the first game, with the help ofStudio Ghibli, they managed to make a truly whimsical world with that Studio Ghibli classic touch.
- Important Note: The games aren't connected story-wise, so you can start with any of them -

[Wrath of the White Witch]

For a the best fantasy adventure feel, while the combat is a hit or miss depending on your taste, don't let that stop you from actually diving into a true fairy tale world, this is the one with the better story in my opinion, so if you want more story than game, this is for you. Still it has a good share of gameplay, from raising and collecting Pokemon-like monsters, to learning and using different spells, not just in combat but for the overworld too.

[Ni no Kuniā„¢ II: Revenant Kingdom]

This one focuses more on gameplay, with a Kingdom builder, Army battles, Heavy loot focus, and even character collector, this is the one to go with if you want more game than story. Still has the great music and he fantastical art style and setting. Add to that a lot of side activities like beating rare monsters, collecting cute creatures to help you in battle, and even going around the world to gather people to help you build your kingdom. You'll never be short on things to do.
Finally, both of them have beautifully draw world that is just a pleasure to walkthrough, made even better with the amazing orchestral soundtrack.

[Star Ocean The Second Story R]

The original PS1 game was already an amazing JRPG and a classic. But this remake takes it to go even further beyond SSJ3. It should be the standard on how to make a faithful remake on of a classic title.
I don't want to overhype it more than I already did. So to keep this short, this remake does so much:
  • All major story events are now fully voice acted. This includes a lot of the private actions too.
  • Fully redone and better translation of the game.
  • New Character to recruit to the party.
  • New Private Actions and 13 new Endings.
  • New character portraits, not just for the main cast, but also for many other characters.
  • A complete rework for the battle system to be up to modern standards.
  • So many QoL features:
    • Auto-saving
    • Fast-forward cut-scenes or skip them.
    • Text log
    • All difficulties can be accessed from the start
    • Fast travel
    • 3 different voice dubbing options to choose from (New English, Original Japanese, New Japanese)
    • Your choice of different art styles
    • Choose between original OST and new rearranged OST.
    • No random battles anymore, as enemies can be seen and avoided
And believe me when I say I still haven't touched half of the amazing work that has gone into this remake.

[Sword and Fairy 7: Together Forever]

They did a great job with the presentation of the game. Great voice acting (Chinese), great graphics, amazing music, and an impressive attention to details of the world and it's lore, especially the engineering of the buildings and their decor. Then you have the really beautiful design of each piece of gear, and even just normal attire of each NPC and the disciples of each sect or soldiers of each of the different of each plane (gods, humans, demons).
Then we go to how great looking the monsters and local flora and fauna of each realm. You can feel the intense work that has gone into making and animating each of them. It really is a joy to watch them, as much as it is to watch each environment you see them in. There really isn't enough time to talk about how good the presentation is.
As for the story. First off, I am not an expert in Chinese novels mythology, but I am a big fan of Xianxia and Wuxia novels. So when I say that the story is...good but nothing great, I am saying this as more than just a JRPG fan, but also someone who is very into this type of world and Chinese martial arts fantasy setting. it's nothing that will stick in your mind, apart from the events that take place in some of the beautiful set pieces in the game, or the cut-scenes with beautiful action cheoragphy.
The gameplay is also about average. The side-quests are fun and are worth doing if nothing more than for learning more about the lore and the world. But the actual battles and action gameplay isn't as good as the best ones out there, but it's not bad. I have ran into some bugs, some small, some big, but that was when the game just came out, and it did receive a lot of patches since then. You can tell that they aimed to make a huge triple A production, but didn't have the time or manpower to test a game of this size. It's still fun to play and experience, but the level of gameplay is nowhere near the level of the presentation that the game gives the impression of having just from watching the gameplay or trailers.
If you enjoy walking through magical and fantastic looking JRPG worlds, or if you enjoy Xianxia/Wuxia fiction, then this is an easy choice. Hell even if you don't, it's still worth a go at this price.

[Blue Dragon] & [Lost Odyssey]

These two are classic titles that will probably won't be ported to or remade to modern consoles. That's why this might be the last way you'll ever get to experience 2 classic titles of the genre. Lost Odyssey has great story writing and unique character settings, and Blue Dragon has great exploration and a really fun character class customization system, and one hell of a boss theme.

[Monster Sanctuary]

This is a solid game, everything in is polished and balanced to make sure you are having fun collecting new monsters and customizing your team through evolution/skill trees/gear and making the best in-sync party you can. I only wish it was longer, it's not short by any means, but it's not long either. I would say depending on if you're trying to "catch them all" and explore everything and fight all bosses, this could easily be a 30+ hours game, but if you focus on the story, then it's about 20 to 30 hours. Now even longer with the 2 new free DLC expansion added.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining that it's short, but that I was having so much fun, that I wish it didn't end.

As always, please do add your own recommendations, and let me know if there is mistake or if something was missing, and have a nice day.

2024.05.14 22:41 HarveyMaido First time playing FNV - Zion's 'Survivalist' is the best bit so far.

Right, I don't post on Reddit often. However I just want to share this. So, I'm playing the Honest Hearts DLC and I absolutely hate it so far. It's not hitting me, y'know? I'm just like getting through it at this point and just skipping the dialogue to get the gist. I love the little area of Zion, but otherwise it's dull. The worst bit? No radio.
I cannot STAND this game without the radio! Having no radio genuinely just makes the combat so blatantly terrible that I'm just bored. Not to mention how little is in Zion, most of the things to kill are just mole rats and geckos, or the occasional bug, sometimes a bear (which dies in like 3 shots to the head??)
Anyway, I decide to play a bunch of old timey music in the back to make up for this which increases the enjoyment by at least a good 50%, and I get rlly intrigued in this Survivalist's storyline. So, I just dive into it, running around to find any location possible to connect. I'm actually missing ONE other note at this point.
I know his wife and kid died and he got lucky to survive, he hid out unable to kill himself, and eventually moved on. However, I don't know what the fuck happens in-between that, because suddenly he's just killing a bunch of 22 Vault Dwellers, so I'm lost. Then, he impregenates one a year later (after EATING the last remaining Vault Dwellers) and she dies in miscarriage.
Suddenly, I'm desperately trying to find more. I'm on some fucking random cliff trying to shoot a Yaoi Guai up from above when my game crashes. I load my last save, which was just facing a bit away from the cliff. So I start heading up, and there he fucking is. That same duffel bag, just layin there in front of me. I'm like OH SHIT, and I'm on it, I'm reading that juicy gossip from this fella, and then... he's fucking God? Is this man Zion's praised God? This is like a whole section of the Wasteland's Bible and it's just some old dude who survived long enough to give some nice letters to a bunch of random kids, who ended up becoming the tribes of Zion for years to come? It's genius. I love it.
To make this even better, that little playlist I had? It was playing Praise God and Pass the Ammunition. Made this DLC a far, far better experience.

2024.05.14 22:38 ItalienSandwhich My GF(F 23) told me(M 24), that some past Dicks she had in the Past just hit "the right angle" when she talked about if she ever had anyone better then me in Bed. What should i do?

So today, my (F23) girlfriend and I (M24) , were sitting on the couch and just casually talking. She drank a little wine and we where just casually talking. I don't even remember how, but somehow she started the topic of past sexual experiences. I'm usually one that does not enjoy talking about ex-partnerships, because I think nothing good can come from talking about past relationships with your current partner in extensive detail. I have told my opinion on talking about ex-partners to my girlfriend several times, because she has brought up past relationships and their issues a lot before. I'm obviously willing to listen, but I think there is a limit on the amount and detail where it just seems like someone is stuck on their ex.
So we were sitting on the sofa and somehow she brought up this topic of past sexual experiences and teased me about being honest and saying whether or not I ever had some crazy sexual experiences in the past and if it was any better than her. I obviously answered that she is the best sex I ever had and I honestly meant it. She is no doubt the best sex I've had so far, plus the fact that I never loved and adored a girl as much as I do her. As a sort of nagging joke, because she kept pondering me if I'm being truthful about it or not, I made a joke and said "I'm completely truthful, but you sound like you had some better sex in the past." She looked at me serious for a bit and answered "you know some dicks just hit the right angles, its just a physical thing" .
I was obviously in shock and stared at her for a while. She noticed and asked me what's wrong. I stared at her for a while and said, you can't just say that. I told her that this statement incredibly hurt me, that you don't say something like that to your partner and that it is completely inappropriate. She gave a half assed partial apology that she is sorry that it hurt me and she didn't mean it like that(well she obviously did, why else say it).
This started a long discussion about weather or not it is OK to say something like that to your partner. At some point she gave in, and apologized perfusely, starting to cry and holding a parade about how much she loves me, that people but to much value on sex and that its not the most important thing in a relationship and how she loves my dick.
Honestly, I think my main problem is that although I do belive she loves me a lot, that our sex is good and that she didn't mean harm by that, I Stil think she does not understand why it is a insanely messed up thing to say to your partner. She probably just apologized cause she saw how hurt I was. She kept repeating how much she loves me, listing things she has done trying to prove how much she loves me and arguing about if i even know how muchh she loves me and if i even love her (i told her she cant question my love for her as an argument trying to change the topic and that its manipulative and she agreed and apologized).
Obviously, rn im sitting here feeling completely empty. I never had any complexes about my penis size, it's pretty much average, maybe even slightly above. But hearing someone you love say something like that and don't understand why it's a bad thing to say is horrific and painful.
So honestly, right now I don't even know what to do. I don't even know what to ask you guys? Probably if you think I'm overreacting? I mean, I'm sure many of you guys out there propably have had sex where the physical part might have been better then it is in your current relationship (I'm just lucky that my current partner is the best sex I had so far). But I Stil think it's just something you don't bring up, especially not if it's not constructive criticism (which is always welcome and healthy), but something physical about me I can't change is just not something you bring up.
I told her that i would never compare to any of my ex partners, and she said thats not what she did and thats its just me interpreting things into it that she didnt even say. So what, am i supposed to just accept that i will never make her feel as good as that one random guy she might have had a one night stand with before, or maybe it was even her ex and i will never compare in that area?
She obviously told me that the love she feels for me is the most important thing, and that she loves sex with me, and that sex just isn't that important to her anyways (I guess this was a weird attempt to make me feel better, but obviously just made it weirder) but what is said is said you know.
I guess I just wanna hear your guys thoughts on this cause this is the first time I have been in a relationship that feels this serious and that might have a long future, but I'm not sure if I can get over this statement.
Additional info: Idk if that matters here, but our sex life has hit a dry spell lately anyways, because of her crazy work shedual and axienty issues she struggling. So this is obviously not helpful at all towards the whole "belive me, it has nothing to do with you" part.
Edit: Shes currently trying to find a psychologist to work on the other struggles she is facing

2024.05.14 22:37 wonkybrainwitch Help and prayers for keeping my mouth shut

TL;DR I have a smart mouth and need to keep that smart mouth to myself tomorrow - send me magical patience please!
I mask full-time because I'm a caregiver for someone with M.E. and asthma. I've posted elsewhere about this and most of the time it is a nonissue (in part because I am usually capable of very patiently walking people through my reasons). People are weird about it sometimes, but whatever, people are weird about me sometimes (auDHD+NB, so I'm a bit of a weird magnet). I know why I'm doing it and I know that it matters to me more than the opinions of random buttheads. But tomorrow I will be in the position of a viva-style examination by someone who has consistently expressed issues with my masking and implied that it affects my ability to do what I'm being assessed on. It irritates me to no end, but I will have to hold my tongue on it and get through the assessment. So I'm asking for something probably very unusual for this sub: help saying ab-so-fucking-lutely nothing in the face of provocation. Bring on your deities of patience, silence, and behind-the-back eyerolls, please!

2024.05.14 22:33 BoysenberryHonest366 Trapped with someone sick

My daughter, husband and I all had a sb* like three weeks ago. Over a week went by before we visited my parents out of state. I talked to them multiple times to make sure they were okay with us coming, and we had had no symptoms for over a week by the time we came to stay. We have been with them for a week and a half when my dad randomly has gotten really sick. I donā€™t know if heā€™s actually tu* because everyone knows Iā€™m an emetophobe, but he is obviously feeling really ill and has stayed in his room all day. Odds are heā€™s probably tu*.
I understand that someone can be contagious for 2 weeks, but I think the odds of him having what we had is slim when you consider the incubation period before symptoms show is 48 hours. This is so unlike him to get sick, I just feel nervous itā€™s another strain of a sb* that my daughter will get. We leave in 2 days, and I would love to leave earlier but itā€™s like $400 to get flights for today and everyone would think Iā€™m crazy to spend that much money.
We donā€™t share a bathroom with him or anything, but Iā€™m positive once he feels better, heā€™ll be out in the house and around everyone else. I could be conscious of how I wash my hands, but itā€™s sooooo hard with a toddler to keep them from touching their face/wash their hands properly!!

2024.05.14 22:31 Rude-Insurance1483 I [31M] caught my girlfriend [30F] texting some other guy on instagram, non-flirt. What should I do next?

Some general context: We've been together for 7 months, however we've been really good friends for over 8 years, we've always kind of loved each other - and we recently reconnected (last year) and hit it off, and instantly fell in love and everything felt like it was meant to be. We love each other a lot and there have been no major issues so far in our relationship.
However I knew she cheated and met with other guys during her past relationships so I had some trust issues with her.
TLDR: GF randomly mentioned a guy kept sending her DMs - turns out they were talking for months, albeit non-flirtatious. She apologized and begged me to forgive her but I feel my trust has been broken.
The story: This happened three days ago while we were getting ready to play a co-op game. That's when she randomly tells me "This guy keeps sending me DMs on instagram". I was a bit taken aback, but not really concerned and asked if she replied in any sort of way - and if not, to just reply and tell him to hit the bricks. For a bit of context, she's a musician and very good looking so she gets a lot of attention and sometimes guys send her DMs - this happened before once or twice with her just not replying, so this wasn't a major concern for me initially.
However, after my question she then fell silent and didn't verbally reply, so I persited and asked again if she replied to him or not so far. She mentioned she did and then fell silent. So I continued and asked "Then why does he still message you?". I noticed she behaved strangely and was at a loss for words and I started asking her more questions. She flusterred again and again and then I asked her if I could take a look at what the guy was saying.
She immediately panicked, trying to evade the topic, saying things like "Why should I show you my DMs, I never asked for yours", "I'm not showing you" and was visibly frustrated and trying to pushback. After a short heated conversation I asked one last time to see their conversation.
She then opened the DMs, and reluctantly handed over the phone. I then noticed a very long thread of conversation between them, dating back to last year, where the guy is asking her how are the holidays, what's she doing, and ...her replying back. The last question he asked was "So when are you coming to [CITY]? :)" which was the city she lived before, years back, and her reply "Not too soon [laugh emoji]".
Now this was not what I expected when she said "This person keeps texting me" - which was far from the truth, this in fact being an entire mutual conversation.
She then told me this person is a mutual aquaintance from her old city's group of friends, and that she's never phyisically met the guy, but knew who his name and who he was - and that's why she accepted his follow, replied and continued the conversation. She mentioned he first wrote to her before we were together and she continued the conversation out of wanting to be polite.
The texts didn't seem to include anything flirtatious from her side, apart from a hug emoji during one of her messages thanking him for the holiday greetings. However, she was replying and engaging with a person that was clearly interested in her, who she's never met and was clearly interested to know how her days went and what she's up to.
Regardless of the non-flirtatious convo, I felt betrayed and furious. She always had an issue with us keeping secrets and being loyal to each other, including being jealous of random aquantinces in my life... so this felt like a huge slap in the face and her being a major hypocrite.
We had a major fight afterwards with me telling her to go home, and that we should separate for the time being while I think things through.
Since then she apologized profusely and begged me to reconsider, including saying that she'll be 100% open to me from now on, she'll block the guy and even said she'll give me her phone pass and show me anything at any point I wish. She keeps mentioning how I'm the love of her life and the most important person she ever met, and that she cannot live without me, that she's envisioned marriage and kids with me, etc. She's called me crying a number of times and said she can't live without me and she knows that it was wrong to reply to him and talk to him but that she meant no harm and had no interest in him.
Unfortunately she also said: A) That she didn't know that the guy was interested in her (Which I think is a huge lie) B) That she hid the conversation from me because I would be mad people are sending her DMs (Which again is a dumb reason, since this happened before, she didn't reply and I was okay with it).
I asked her to be honest with me, and tell me the reasons why she did this. She said it wasn't out of a desire for attention, or an unmentioned frustration with our relationship. She just did it out of being polite.
However, IMO you don't just ask someone about their day and reply with questions when you're just "being polite".
Anyway. I'm really torn apart on what to do moving forward.
ATM I've told her I don't think things will work, and she is devastated.
I feel that she broke my trust and moving forward I'll be walking on eggshells, in a constant high-alert state. She gaslighted me and told me lies to cover up her tracks. She hid the fact that she was talking to this guy, she partially hid the fact that she was responding, and then she lied about not knowing what this guy wanted.
I also know that she loves me a ton and is really sorry for what she did.
Help me make sense of this and know what I should be doing. Thanks!

A Crawling Chaos (Prelude 1/4) *Moderate Entomophobia Warning: Here There be Bugs!*
As befits their nature, similarities between chaotic beings are vanishingly rare. Asking for consistency from the children of Chaos is like asking for warmth from a glacier- it is simply not possible under ordinary circumstances. Yet there is a common thread between them, if one knows where to look. Chaos is unpredictable, but never truly random. All chaotic creatures value self-determination, and share a desire to alter the status quo to fit their personal vision. The most common expressions of this are in mischief and fiery idealism. But all too often, Chaos manifests as an insatiable hunger to tear down all that is and replace it with something utterly incomprehensible, horrifying, and sometimes more depraved than anything Evil can dream of. While not our greatest enemy, Entropy represents the most blatant opposing force to the Balance.
  • An excerpt from "The Balance and You: A Guide to True Neutrality" by Tarul Var.

Zionyn, 663rd Layer of the Abyss
Usuz lazily droned across the ochre skies of what may have been the most loathsome place in existence. A rancid marsh of putrefying gore stretched for uncounted leagues below him, the manifested legacy of the sins his kind had committed before the first sunrise, and which persisted unabated to this day. Ekolids like Usuz were never known for impulse control- or anything beyond turning any non-demonic lifeforms they met into living incubators for their parasitic young, for that matter. The land teemed with octillions of insects who thrived on the further infestation of the ekolids' discarded victims.
To the staggeringly unlucky mortals who came to Zionyn, the noise and smell alone were truly nauseating, and the realization of where they originated and the implications therein invariably obliterated their sanity. Watching visitors crumble into wailing madness was one of Usuz's favorite pastimes, second only to watching those same visitors explode when the eggs he implanted in them hatched. Their blood fed the innumerable swarms vermin that blotted out Zionyn's sickly sun at regular enough intervals to generate night and day. Truly, this was a paradise of entropy, one that the rest of the planes would get to experience some day.
"As above, so below," Usuz chittered from his three irregularly spaced mouths.
An ekolid demon. (Credit: Isabel Beis)
To his east, the heavy waves of the Resin Sea lapped at a tidal floodplain of translucent brown polymer. The viscous ocean provided building materials for the ekolid hive-cities in the rocky badlands to the north; the demonic equivalent of mortar. The bricks in this analogy were, of course, the corpses of beings the ekolids especially despised. There had been quite a lot of those over the eons. To be an demon of any kind was to be filled with primordial, entropic hatred- for the forces of Law and Good, for the multiverse that looked at them with disgusted contempt, and for everything not of the Abyss that birthed them.
A discordant drone filled Usuz's senses, cutting through the omnipresent hum of the marshlands. In addition to the blasphemous language of the Abyss, every ekolid could produce a distinct tone that they used to communicate across long distances. This "verminsong" also induced psychosis in mortals, who would tear themselves to shreds trying to rid themselves of imaginary insects below their skin. But this droning was far more focused and insistent than any ekolid could muster, which meant it could only come from one being.
Obox-ob was calling to his children.
Usuz wheeled around and flew north at frightening speeds. In a matter of minutes, he had left the decaying marshes and entered the badlands, where the hive-cities sat. This positioning was not out of any desire to avoid the charnel swarm-pits to the south, but rather because the horrid grandeur of Zionyn only became apparent when one could survey the whole layer. Usuz tucked his wings and dived towards the amphitheater in the city of Skitterhome, the largest of the cities and the source of the dark missive. The arena was used primarily for performance hatchings, events where parasitic indulgence met art. Contestants implanted captured creatures with their eggs, and were judged based on the quality of their victims' screams. As he plummeted, he joined a swarm of thousands of ekolids, all headed for the same destination. But it was only as he alighted on the resin-entombed corpse of a long-dead paladin that served as a stadium seat that he could hear his kin buzzing to each other with a mix of excitement and trepidation.
"Obox-ob comes! O, glorious day! The Prince of Vermin calls to us!"
"I wonder what scheme our lord has planned this time. Hope it involves lots of dead mortals."
"Well, if he doesn't rip something into bloody chunks first, I'm not listening to a damn thing!"
Usuz's many eyes watched the yawning pit in the center of the arena intently. Obox-ob, the demon lord of Zionyn and father of the ekolid race, had ordered the construction of Skitterhome's amphitheater right above the entrance to his lair so that he could enjoy the screams of performance hatchings even while he plotted the downfall of order. It was considered a mark of incredible honor for a contestant when he rose from the pit to devour their victim's corpse. And just like all the other times, a hush came over the buzzing crowd when the Prince of Vermin appeared.
Obox-ob was splendid and awful to behold all at once- a massive centipede with far too many razor-sharp legs, who sported a trio of wicked scorpion stingers where his head should be and three faces stacked atop one another at the end of a neck-like tail. His mouth ran vertically up his faces, from which emerged a long tongue tipped with a corkscrew spike. The ancient demon lord's limbs undulated hypnotically as he crawled far faster than should have been possible for a thing of his size.

The Prince of Vermin surveyed the demonic swarm with satisfaction. Sensing the ekolids' tension, he extended a forelimb over the great pit. From the depths rose a gaunt petitioner; the soul-husk of a mortal who had pledged himself to entropy in life and arrived in the Abyss upon death. The man looked terrified, but also resolute. With a sharp gesture, Obox-ob seized him in a telekinetic grasp and crushed him into ichorous pulp. The swarm erupted in cheers as their lord shaped the chaotic gore into a new, familiar form: a newborn ekolid. The mortal-turned-demon took in its new, insectile form with chirps of relief, bowed before Obox-ob, and fluttered away to join its fellows. Then the demon lord spoke:
"My esteemed offspring," he chittered in a voice that every god of Law had learned to fear, "today is an auspicious day. Not just for Zionyn, nor even our kin throughout the Abyss, but for the scions of Chaos across the multiverse! Cosmic strife and repeated incursions by selfish beings have thinned the veil between the Material Plane and the rest of the multiverse. Should that veil be torn asunder, the realms of mortals shall be laid bare for any with the strength to control them. To the victor go the spoils, and we all know that the forces of Chaos are destined to be the eternal victors!"
"The other planar forces- Law, Good, and Evil- are preparing to claim the Material Plane with armies of their own. But we are not ones to shy away from adversity, are we? Imagine the despair the children of Law will feel when they realize that we have beaten them to the prize! We will swarm over the realms, shattering any who would establish a foothold on what is rightfully ours. In our wake shall come hordes of our brethren to unmake the world in our image! Chaos will be all, and all will be Chaos!"
Usuz was the first to take up Obox-ob's battle cry, inspiring the other ekolids to add their voices to the discordant choir that shook Zionyn to its foundations and echoed through the whole Abyss. Every demon in the multiverse heard the apocalyptic chant and without knowing why, joined it at once. It spread across the planes, calling every lord of disorder- from the rulers of the slaadi to the very gods of Chaos- to muster their forces for war. Even on the Material Plane, where the forces of the Outer Planes held little sway, some wizards heard a droning in their orb messages that made the inside of their skull itch. The few who understood what it foretold broke down sobbing.
Chaos would be all. All would be Chaos.

/uw Well, that was the most unpleasant thing I've ever written. It's certainly far from the most grotesque post on the sub, but when compared to the goofy stuff that's been posted lately, it's pretty bad. Hooray for tonal whiplash! Fortunately, this is probably the worst the planar incursion event will get.
I actually had a bit of fun describing Zionyn in all of its hideous glory, though. The one flaw of the Atrax Saga was that old writer's saw: "show, don't tell." The Age of the Phoenix was a credible threat, but I think it could have been better if Atrax had made more examples to reinforce what would happen to the realms if he wasn't stopped. I don't need to do that with the hordes of Chaos. Zionyn speaks for itself.
If you want more like this (for whatever reason), I was inspired by this video by AJ Pickett. Early 2000s D&D lore gets pretty wild at times. And if you want to help squash the most fucked-up ants in the universe, stay tuned! We're just getting started here.
And before I go, let me leave you with this:

So this was removed from nosleep due to an "incomplete story" but I really like it the way I wrote it originally so here it is. Currently working on editing it to fit nosleep properly but we'll see.
*** ā€œShe left me.ā€ Muffled sobs dampen my shoulder as I hold my best friend close. ā€œIā€™ll never see her again.ā€
Iā€™m sorry, sweetie,ā€ I try to soothe, but sheā€™s inconsolable. Itā€™s a pity, tooā€¦her last girlfriend was such a nice girl. I hate to think of where she is now.
ā€œDani, will you stay with me?ā€ I canā€™t say no to those wide, pleading eyes, the crystalline tears streaming down her cheeks. I can never say no to her.
Lila and I (both mid-20s F) have been best friends for as long as I can remember. My first memories as a child include her, and according to my parents weā€™ve been inseparable from day one. I donā€™t really remember her parents, though, but sheā€™s always been an independent girl. An independent girl who depends on others for validation, which is something she refuses to admit. But I know that. I know her.
Iā€™ve been in love with her since we were teens, and that was also when she started dating around, falling in love with girl after girl. I resigned myself to the best friend role, telling myself that someday I would be the one to take center stage, but I was content with being the shoulder to cry on, the comforting voice accompanied by back rubs.
She would inevitably break up with her girlfriends, or they would break up with her, which was more surprising considering how starstruck each one would look. Each one was smitten with her, so why would they simply leave her? And why, after every single break up, would they leave the state and basically drop off the grid? I didnā€™t know why until very recently.
And now I no longer want to confess. I donā€™t know if I even want to remain friends, but Iā€™m more afraid of running away from her without a word. And itā€™s hard to pretend I donā€™t still have feelings for her, regardless.
Even now, as Lila clings onto me for comfort, I canā€™t deny that Iā€™m happy to be there for her.
ā€œI want to be in love again.ā€ Lila stares off into the distance with a wistful expression, tear tracks still smeared over her cheeks. ā€œI want to feel that passion, that spark that turns into a fireā€¦until it consumes us in flames.ā€
She looks to me, desperate for understanding that only I can give her. And I do, smiling sympathetically, squeezing her hands. No one can understand her like I do, even if we canā€™t be a couple. Even if I hold my breath every time Iā€™m around her, afraid to so much as breathe wrong.
After a while, she calms down, gratefully accepting tissues to wipe away her tears. She sniffles a little, dabbing at bloodshot eyes, as I put on a movie for some background noise. I know her place like the back of my hand, so I know where everything is. Unfortunately that means I also know some things I really shouldnā€™t.
Settling back down on the couch, I pull her into my side, letting her snuggle up to me like always.
ā€œI wish I could just date a girl like you,ā€ Lila sighs. ā€œMaybe I should just start dating you.ā€
I force myself to crack a smile. ā€œNah, you wouldnā€™t like dating me. Besides, I like having you as a friend and not a girlfriend.ā€
She giggles. ā€œMe too, Dani, me too.ā€
I donā€™t tell her about how once Iā€™d come over to her house randomly, just to surprise her, and didnā€™t realize she was out. I donā€™t say a word about how I found a photo album sheā€™d never shown me beforeā€“odd, because doesnā€™t she show me everything?ā€“and couldnā€™t resist opening it.
I donā€™t mention my stunned horror upon seeing picture after picture of past girlfriends, bodies broken and mangled beyond recognition, but always with their faces intact. One of them still had her hands, and another girl still had her collarbone. Those pictures were labeled ā€œSaving the best for last <3ā€ and that caption nearly made me drop the album. But I kept looking. So many pictures of the bodies littered with inhuman teeth marks next to handwritten declarations of love for each girl. All their lovely qualities accompanied by how wonderful their flesh tasted.
I donā€™t tell her about how I slammed the album shut and placed back where it was. I donā€™t tell her that when she got home that day and saw me chilling on her couch as usual, I was actually steeling my resolve to never confess my love to her. Ever.
Donā€™t get me wrong, Iā€™m still very much in love with her. ā€œBut you saw all those pictures,ā€ you might sayā€¦well, yes. But thereā€™s something about that angelic face and perfect skin drenched with blood that just does it for me. And sheā€™s still so beautiful, both inside and out. Can I help being drawn to her like a moth to a tantalizing flame? Looking at those pictures made me realizeā€“thereā€™s no way a normal human could have torn into flesh like that with their bare hands. I wonā€™t bring that up, though.
What I will bring up is that thereā€™s a girl at work that I think Lila would absolutely adore. Sheā€™s pretty but deep down, so ugly. Ugly enough to try and sabotage me at work, badmouthing me to other coworkers and even taking a promotion from me. Surely Lila would just love her, and love to love her, and love to have her.
But stillā€¦am I wrong for keeping my feelings to myself?

2024.05.14 22:09 Potential_Scholar650 Assessment of the current situation in Georgia

Assessment of the current situation in Georgia
Hello, greetings from Canada! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦
First and foremost, I wish to express my sincere apologies for intervening in Georgian politics and offering advice on the current situation. However, I will try to assist to the best of my ability, drawing on my expertise as a political analyst who has studied similar cases.
I have been closely monitoring the situation since April 3rd, when the government decided to reintroduce the law for consideration following last year's protests. I was profoundly surprised by this decision, considering that in 2023, a significant portion of the Georgian population opposed it. Moreover, the law sparked mass protests and riots. The government's decision to revive this law risked further escalation. Additionally, government officials had publicly stated that they would not reintroduce the law, which, as it transpired, was a blatant falsehood uttered by high-ranking officials. Such unequivocal and deceptive statements from prominent figures are unexpected and unacceptable.
Regarding the current situation, I understand that the law was passed on its third reading, despite ongoing mass protests that have persisted for more than a month. It is deeply regrettable to observe that the government appears to disregard the views of its citizens and their genuine disappointment with the law. Governments are elected by the people, and the voice of the populace should take precedence. No law is worth enforcing if it jeopardizes even one person's safety. During the protests, the safety of the people is not guaranteed. I have witnessed firsthand the violent treatment of some protesters and the government's irresponsible actions. Even if we set aside the fact that this law runs counter to Georgian interests and undermines Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as media freedom and human rights, the sheer number of injuries sustained by individuals due to this law should be reason enough for its repeal. However, as previously mentioned, the Georgian government appears indifferent to the safety of its citizens. Despite the peaceful nature of the protests, the government perceives the demonstrators as a minority led by frivolous organizations. This is regrettable, as those protesting are genuinely committed to protecting their country. I can attest to this, having participated in the protests myself. Witnessing Georgians advocate for Europe in this manner brought tears to my eyes. Your unwavering commitment to European ideals is unparalleled, and you embody the essence of European civilization.
As for the situation itself and what I think needs to be done, I believe, as I stated before, that the government shows little care for the protesters and their opinions, viewing them as a misinformed, inexperienced population.
We know that after the law is passed on the 3rd reading, it's impossible to revoke it unless the president vetoes it, and later on, the government decides not to "escape" the veto, which would result in the law being revoked. This means there is only one way for the law to be revoked. However, Georgian Dream revoking the law is an unlikely scenario. Hence, as an expert, I believe that the law will finally be passed in June of this year.
As for the protests themselves, I will share my honest opinion. I admire you all. Seeing you fight for democracy like this means a lot. Greece invented democracy, and today, the Georgian people are safeguarding it. You will not only be part of Georgian history but also of world history, my friends!
It would be an honor to offer you advice, but I'm hesitant, as I believe your choices make you unique, and you don't necessarily require my suggestions. Nevertheless, I'll try to be of help!
I appreciate the independence of the protests and the ability of the people to make decisions like this, especially at such a young age. Georgia is truly raising the best generation ever!
However, your protests need a face, one face, one person who will lead itā€”a person chosen by the people, a person who will become a hero. Preferably, this person should be a non-political figure, but one of you, a random protester willing to take on the responsibility. This will prove that you are not connected to any political party. It's likely that public opinion about you will change positively. Fight together. You don't need political parties, you need yourselves. You need to find a leader among yourselves, not in some political party!
Secondly, keep going. Don't let the summer heat quell the protests. Keep fighting. Nothing is more important than Georgia's future right now. It's challenging, but keep the flame alive and keep it burning. You guys are the beating heart not only of Georgia but also of Western civilization. Keep going!
Thirdly, your protests go beyond Georgia. They will affect every Western country and your neighbors. You are capable of altering the geopolitical reality in the region. The loss of Russian influence would be a new chapter not only for Georgia but also for the Caucasus. You are fighting for Azerbaijan and Armenia as well.
Lastly, create a plan. The only thing I can criticize is the lack of a plan and action. The protests have shown a lot about the government, revealing its true colors. While it has completely lost the public's trust, there has been no real progress regarding the law itself. Georgian Dream is very close to passing it. Therefore, you will need to change tactics so that your voice is heard louder or to force them to back down. Protests should be peaceful but very clear that Georgians are ready to fight, and their wishes need to be respected by the government. Create a plan, organize more protestsā€”preferably on weekends when more people can attendā€”and organize the arrival of people from other cities and regions of Georgia. You need as many people as possible, and you need to present an ultimatum. As the Latin saying goes, "quid pro quo," meaning "this for that." In this case, you revoke the law, and I will guarantee a non-violent resolution. Attempt to meet with Georgian Dream officials, potential protest leaders as I mentioned earlier. Create documentation stating your demands. Try to meet with officials. The leader must be ready to meet with Georgian Dream officials with arguments and clear opinions of the people, along with documentation stating the people's demands. These meetings will attempt to find a peaceful and diplomatic solution. However, I honestly see the government accepting this request as very unlikely. But you need to try and state that you want a peaceful resolution. However, it's unlikely that Georgian Dream will back down, which leads us to the controversial question: what should happen? Should you wait for elections? Or should there be a revolution?
Now, that is entirely up to Georgians, and I cannot have any say in this matter. But waiting until the elections would grant Georgian Dream more time, and it would be a strategic win for them. They might attempt to rig the elections, which would most likely cause the EU not to open negotiation talks with Georgia. The conclusion is that waiting until the elections would be risky in terms of EU-Georgia relations. It's entirely up to Georgians, but giving up the protests now would be a loss in a battle but not the war. Should you cause a revolution now? I will reiterate that a peaceful resolution against governments showing signs of dictatorship is very unlikely. It usually works against democratic countries but not against authoritarian countries. The 2020/2021 Belarus protests are a perfect example of that. Keep the pressure on and be ready to fight. That's my advice. Keep going and don't look back. The past isn't more important than today and tomorrowā€”the future. You guys will make it! šŸ‡¬šŸ‡Ŗ
You have my blessing šŸ™

2024.05.14 22:07 ErykGonk GPT 4o - First impressions

So I tried to use GPT 4o instead of 4 Turbo and as of now I had to go back to 4 Turbo. I havent seen this much hallucinations and stupid answers in a long time. It was far worse with my research work and writing and even some quick chats with some random questions or just playing with it was some kind of strange. As of now I think it's made mostly to work with this soon to be relased audio/camera face time type of usage.

2024.05.14 22:06 Appropriate-Bar-2822 Why you should be playing Pyramid Solitaire Cube, not classic Solitaire Cube

Classic Klondike Solitaire is by far Skillz's most popular game. But if you are looking for a fair game that truly relies almost 99% of the time on just skill to win, then Pyramid Solitaire is hands down better. This is because there is too much luck involved in classic solitaire. At some point in most games of classic solitaire you will be faced with 2 of the same type of card in the playing field (Google says this is apparently called the "tableau"? Who knew?), for example, 2 red eights or 2 black fours or 2 black sixes, etc. If you choose the wrong card to move, then the game may take longer or be flat-out unsolvable because you trapped an ace or a face card or the black nine you need to move the second red eight is trapped in the pile behind it. Your opponent may have chosen to move the other card (the correct card) and they will win based solely on luck. Some klondike solitaire games have multiple such choices in the same game and each is an opportunity for you to lose based solely on luck.
In Pyramid Solitaire the position of all the cards is knowable to the player after they go through the deck the first time. This eliminates the randomness of luck. Why do I say that only skill determines the winner 99% of the time instead of 100%? Because there are the very rare boards in Pyramid Solitaire that are possible to solve in the first pass of the deck and there is a little bit of luck involved in those games.
Pyramid Solitaire is so much more fair than Classic Solitaire. It's a shame that 1000s of players play classic solitaire and only a few hundred play Pyramid.

2024.05.14 22:05 Euphoric-Earth-4765 An inside look at the culture and ideology of Faith Comes By Hearing_PART 2

*Management style:
Not democratic/participative. Not transformational. Not Coaching. Very much Autocratic/Authoritative/Coercive. Sometimes Laissez-faire. Style depends on the department.
*Chain of command:
The ministry is seen as a church by top management. Top management are the ā€œeldersā€ and the CEO is the Senior Pastor. Then there is everybody else. So, confidence is put on their positions of authority. They are, in all sense and purposes, the ā€œspiritual leadersā€. They present themselves as having spiritual authority and, therefore, as being entitled to receive immediate agreement and unquestioned compliance.
Also, there are multiple management layers or chains which this quote sums up as well:
"When you become an admiral, you never have bad meals and you never hear the truth. there are all these layers of management and buffer layers and each one is afraid to tell unpleasant truth to the top levels.... ā€œ
Not a culture of authenticity where everyone on the team, including management, is encouraged, and expected to be who they are. There is a sense that top management puts up a false front, they seem to want to appear perfect. Illusions of invulnerability exist. They always lead well, they always make the right decisions, they never admit mistakes, etc. Want people to think they got it all together- all rainbows and lollipops. Do not exhibit vulnerability. Toxic positivity is also very much present: Everything is seen as ā€œawesomeā€. So, there is judgment if you have a bad (not "everything is awesome") day.
The vertical chain of command, results in less collaboration, slow communication, lack of career growth, feelings of subordination, and decreased employee empowerment. Top management sets the rules and standards without any input from the ā€œbottomā€ employees. Employee questions, concerns or ideas have to go up several steps of the chain of command so that upper management can address or approve. The bottom employees do not have the ability to make decisions related to their work or a particular situation. So, not everyone feels equal.
So, if you are not a spiritual leader, you are just basically told to submit and listen to those who are in authority over you because they are the people that ā€œhear from Godā€ and you are not and so whatever they say goes. And they set up a scenario where they basically kept those of us who were not spiritual leaders dependent upon them.
Many in management are overconfident and overestimate their abilities. They have a simple idea of how things are and how things work. Unfortunately, they make decisions that impact entire departments without gaining the needed knowledge.
The chain of command and lack of ongoing training also results in many employees being promoted so much that they max out their competence and will remain there until they leave or are let go. So, you end up with many in the role of management that lack the training and competence of the respective department. So, employees with the most authority are often not the most experienced and not adept in the particular field leading team members. And employees with the most experience and skills and knowledge and wisdom have the least (or no) authority.
Good leaders donā€™t always claim the ā€œleaderā€ title. Oftentimes, good leaders are those with more understated temperaments. Leadership is as much about listening as it is about telling. However, people with the most open and receptive personalities often do not have much authority.
Also, how the chain of command should operate when there is a unit that acted without proper authorization, it is not a junior authority whoā€™s going to bear a responsibility for that, but somewhat of more senior status. And thatā€™s true in any military or business or ministry operating by a code of ethics. So, if someone at the bottom of the chain is struggling, failing, or making mistakes, those at the top of the chain bear full responsibility. Everything stands or falls on leadership. Unfortunately, the chain at FCBH is not two directional.
There is also a sense that top management promotes employees who are least-competent but pose no risk to their own position (in-group bias) to management.
*Feedback:
Work environment or culture is not set up for employees to give honest feedback/opinions or to deliver bad news or to question or disagree with management.
Sample bias is also common. Management will send an email asking for feedback but they won't consider how only the people who are open to talking and sharing their opinions will participate while others wonā€™t. Bias arises because employees with specific characteristics (e.g., extroverts) might be more likely to agree to participate than others, making the participants a non-representative sample. People with strong opinions or substantial knowledge about a specific topic may be more willing to give feedback than those without. Management does not follow up to determine why they are unresponsive or follow up frequently to reduce attrition.
Management claims they want to hear from employees, but they only want opinions and ideas on matters that are superficial or trivial. So, few employees give candid feedback on important and significant matters.
Top management does not involve employees in the change process when changes occur.
Management does not ask for honest feedback on their leadership or on decisions that are made that affect employees. Management will not ask how they are doing as leaders, what employees need from them. No regular check-ins or 1:1 on employeesā€™ professional and personal well-being. Are employees stressed, disappointed or feeling burdened physically, emotionally or spiritually? No growth and career discussions.
Management will ignore most feedback, comments, suggestions even when it's common knowledge but will adamantly listen to employees who preface with "God told me to tell you..." Or ā€œI felt God say ā€¦ā€ or ā€œGod spoke to me and saidā€¦ā€
For example, management started focusing on Gen Z only after a few people claimed that ā€œGod told us that Gen Z are important for our future business growth.ā€ In another instance, someone said ā€œGod gave us this word: we as a ministry need to really consider how everyone is wired, how each person is different. How people have different personalities.ā€ Then, management affirmed this ā€œword from God.ā€
If one employee brings something up to management it is often ignored and the employee is gaslighted. If two or more employees bring the same thing to management, then God is communicating something and they take it seriously (per Matt 18). Even if it is just coincidence or frequency bias.
*Groupthink/Conformity:
Groupthink, confirmation bias, in-group bias, illusions of unanimity, and self-censorship is very prevalent in the culture and especially in their meetings. There is a lot of direct pressure to not question, to conform, to agree with the views and personal convictions of the top management. Employees condemn those who disagree or question top management and they accept those who agree, creating immense pressure for conformity.
So, many employees frequently remain quiet, preferring to ā€œkeep the peaceā€ rather than disrupt the uniformity. Employees are pressured to hide problematic information (especially from top management).
*Disagreements/Different perspectives:
Top management will also point out the working and living conditions of international employees to ā€œencourageā€ local employees to not ā€œcomplainā€ or give critical feedback or bring up legitimate problems (e.g., fumes or loud noises from construction in the building).
Management also often commits the "ends (or goals or vision) justify the means" fallacy: the work, the production and distribution of bibles (the ends) being done is more important, so employees shouldn't complain at all about the means or their working conditions (broken chairs, broken or inadequate equipment, poor work-life balance, bad management).
And, if management disagrees with you, with your observations, feedback, suggestions, or theology, they will often try to trump you with spirituality or vague meaningless spiritual terminology instead of using Scripture (properly interpreted), facts and reasoning.
In addition, top managers will take great offense when employees question or disagree with the directions and decisions they make. Dissent is not welcomed. Respectful debates/disagreement is not encouraged. Open discussion and alternative perspectives are not encouraged. Management does not value, support, or respect diverse opinions and ideas. They do not actively seek out different viewpoints. Do not allow people to speak their perspective, their thought of mind. So, there is no psychological safety. Employees do not feel comfortable expressing dissenting opinions without fear of retribution or judgment. Afraid of breaking the little glass image. People do not feel comfortable sharing setbacks, mistakes, failures. Management does not encourage open communication. Management often seeks agreement, instead of posing honest questions that challenge the status quo and provoke critical thinking and discussion. They do not encourage employees to challenge them. In fact, they are seen as a type of complaining or critical feedback and so are viewed as sin. This makes top management seem self-centered.
*Appeals to emotion: Guilt and Shame:
Top management often shares their personal opinions and convictions (e.g., spending money only when absolutely necessary, not accepting large gifts, not buying fancy items) as something everyone should do. Itā€™s never direct. It's always through stories. Management loves stories. The personal convictions of management are presented as more than preferences.
For instance, top management encourages extreme frugality and poverty through their personal anecdotes #loudbudgeting and stories from international cultures. Think along the lines of: ā€œwe, here in America, have no right to be sad or to complain about things or to request better things or ask for accommodations or for more employee engagement because others (internationals) have it much worse.ā€ Even wanting better equipment and supplies or asking for better working conditions is frowned upon (in some cases seen as a sin), even if your request helps you to do your job more effectively and makes the work better (a new whiteboard, a new office chair, better computers, etc.)
Example: ā€œYou should really try to come in to work even if you feel bad, even if you are snowed in and the roads are hazardous because people need to get our bibles. And our international employees work in much harsher conditions.ā€
You also get this feeling from the way they communicate that top management would rather not pay their employees. They would prefer it if everyone just worked for free because ā€œwe are on a mission from God. We are doing the Lord's work.ā€ There is also a sense that employees should be more than willing to sacrifice their well-being, career goals, financial goals, personal goals for reaching people with their Bibles.
Leadership sets the example and expectations, so this all ends up making employees confused and feeling guilty and ashamed. Guilty and shameful about asks, spending money (even their own). Guilty and shameful about having nice things (new car, new phone, new tv), about making needs known, about sharing concerns regarding work, about asking for raises to keep up with cost of living, etc.
Example: An employee has continued to use an old whiteboard. It is so old it is hard to read and difficult to erase. Management likes to tell donors: ā€œWe don't spend money on everyday things like whiteboardsā€¦. Instead, we use that money for more bible recordings, for people to hear about Jesus.ā€
This also causes confusion. Every few months there is a meeting where management discusses how sitting on stores of money is bad, but spending it is also bad, but also not spending it is bad... "Being rich is bad. Money is bad. let's not accumulate money, that's bad. We must think about how people will see what we have. So we should look poor and not appear too frivolous." But top management is okay with receiving gifts from donors and other ministries. Management personally does not like to have nice ā€œfancyā€ things, and as a ministry, they say FCBH should also not have nice fancy things, they should use the money for other more important things. They don't like when other ministries use their money for nice fancy things, but it's okay if other ministries give FCBH nice fancy things like tote bags, key chains, mugs, phone holders, lunch bags. Another example, it took them years to repaint the parking lot. It was at the point where people did not know where to park. Before repainting, management decided to remodel the hallways and install posters and multiple monitors with language stats.
There is also a subtle sense that producing audio and video bibles is the highest calling one can have. And it's implied that FCBH is the main means God uses to fulfill the great commission: ā€œGod needs FCBH to do these bible recordings or people (specifically unreached internationals) will go to hell.ā€ So, top management hints that working anywhere else isn't really serving God (or at least, not serving God as well as one could if they worked somewhere else). They imply that working at this ministry is the only way to truly serve God and fulfill your calling. They also use this framing to guilt and shame employees into not quitting. Management implies that employees should not take opportunities to leave or take other jobs because getting the Bible to people is Godā€™s highest calling for us as Christians:
ā€œIf anyone leaves FCBH, then they must not really understand the vision/calling. They are not committed to saving people. We should be willing to give up things to fulfill the calling. The apostles did not pursue better jobs and so God will provide if we need better pay, benefits, career. For those of us who join the ministry to hold true to get God's word to every person, it takes discipline because we have opportunities to do other things. I'm sure that Noah had problems with Builders because he probably had hundreds of people not thousands working on the ark. They started their own businesses and started side things going on. pretty soon they'll have no time to work with him on the ark. and you can have all kinds of diversionary things happen. and so we want to understand they focused in the ministry. and that's been one of the things that I've really tried to do is what did God tell me at the time this ministry began because I was not interested in this ministry. I was interested in living by faith and experiencing God through people and seeing people experience God. and when I was praying about that here in Albuquerque the Lord said bring my church together and make disciples. and then he also told me that when his people think the same they are one. so it's not a matter of getting rid of the buildings or the leaders but it's a matter of people thinking the same. They can go to different denominations, different buildings, have different teachers, and different preachers and leaders but once they think the same, they're one and that's what his objective was. and so that's when I felt like the Lord said get God's word to every person. So I'm challenging us to stay true to what God has called us to do. and every time somebody leaves the ministry there are reasons for leaving. but it startles me a little bit, because I think well we haven't, we haven't communicated the vision very well somehow because they didn't get it. like Noah building the arc. it it's a long project it's not a month or a year two years or three years. our immediate goal is 2033 and it means that we're committed to a cause. and that means some of us we give up something. I we've given up stuff we live in a small apartment and that's what we saw that God had us do and that's our lifestyle we we tone down our lifestyle to get the cause committed to the cause. and and I know that's difficult for some, in some cases maybe there's financial needs because of family growth and stuff there they just can't afford to work in the ministry. but sometimes it's a choice and every time somebody leaves it where it's actually a choice. I think we haven't communicated the mission very good the vision very good. I've been looking at is that could you imagine read reading the New Testament. and finding out that Peter about halfway through or Paul halfway through the ministry all of a sudden got a better job offer. and stopped their portion of the ministry they held the course no matter what happened. whether it was good or whether it was bad. Paul talks about this and sometimes we want to follow the Lord. but we don't impart on ourselves the same responsibilities that those disciples did. so when God Empower them is he empowering you in the same way. and you're making choices that maybe you shouldn't make that you will impart and say the Lord is leading me someplace else when in fact maybe it isn't. it's just a better offer. if the Bible in the New Testament was reading a little bit different than Stephen left the ministry at this point or James left the ministry at this point because of something I think we need to be very very careful and why I say that is that as we work internationally.ā€
SO, there is a lot of guilt and shame about leaving to pursue other interests or meet needs. Guilt and shame about wanting to leave to advance and develop professionally. For this reason, many remain ā€œloyalā€ and stay at the ministry.
So there is lots of control and manipulation in the work culture.
*Weekly worship meetings:
These are mandatory and there are some legitimate concerns:
Top management seems to have misconceptions about true worship and worship experiences. They often reduce worship to singing by their communication, the way ā€œworshipā€ is used. Worship is seen as something we do on occasion - once a week, when we gather at work for the mandatory worship time. Top management, by ignoring other styles, seems to believe that there is a single style of worship which is correct for Christians.
And it seems like just about anyone can lead worship or be on the team: anyone that can play an instrument. Top management does not require a worship class or agreement to biblical principles concerning worship as a prerequisite for employees who desire to plan and lead worship experiences. So you end up with people who have different views/philosophies on the worship team. Unfortunately, many who lead do not take the time/effort to plan and lead worship experiences, to discern from songs that are better suited for individual or private worship from songs that are corporate or public worship, to discern songs that are controversial/questionable (have bad theology, weak theology), songs that are theologically ambiguous or songs that lean more towards ā€œfeminineā€ attributes. Most, if not all, of our modern ā€œChristianā€ worship music is written at a simplistic level of understanding and comprehension. Most music tends to appeal to our emotions. Many songs appeal mostly to women. So there is a great need for teaching on the biblical principles concerning worship. Also a need to choose theologically balanced songs with music appropriate for the people. Unfortunately, many of the songs chosen are theologically incorrect (e.g., having elements from the Word Of Faith movement, New Apostolic Church, New Age). Songs are often not theologically balanced. Songs seem to be chosen for their emotional impact, to make employees feel good; many focus on just one aspect of God (e.g., love). Many promote self-centered worship.
Most of the worship leaders just sing the songs: They do not actually ā€œleadā€ people into worship. They do not help people connect the lyrics of the song to where they are at in their personal life, to teach them something about God or help the people understand what this song means and what God wants them to get out of it, so they're not just singing songs and just doing, going through the motions or help them understand the depth and the richness of what lyrics mean and how it applies to their life. What matters to them seems to be whether songs are impactful, moving, and beautiful. (Whatever that means.) Whether songs make employees feel good. They don't seem to care whether the songs actually reflect truth: Do the lyrics line up with Scripture? Do the songs glorify self or God? How would new Christians or nonChristians interpret the song?
Theology is the study of God and it's very important doxology is an expression of praise to God so the point here is that all theologies should ultimately lead to doxology if theology doesn't lead to doxology then we've actually missed the point of theology so if you have theology without doxology you just have dead hold orthodoxy which is horrible. On the other side you have the people who say ā€œforget about theology I just want to praise.ā€ But if you have doxology without theology you actually have idolatry because it's just a random expression of praise but it's not actually informed by the truth of who God is so God is
concerned with both he's concerned with an accurate understanding of him and that accurate understanding of him leading to a response of praise adoration and worship towards him.
*Leadership quality:
Top management has more respect for donors and guests than their employees.
Management lacks basic core leadership principles/values:
Unfortunately, many employees are not given power or resources: Management just gives them the responsibility to get things done. Before responsibility is given, employees should be equipped: be empowered, have the authority, be given resources and have the experience. Employees are not empowered as individuals to solve their own problems using their own solutions. Micromanagement is often required every time the situation changes or problems arise. Employees are not inspired to act as leaders for themselves, delivering amazing performance without guidance. They have coaching sessions but only when thereā€™s a problem. True coaching occurs regardless of whether the individual is crushing their goals or falling behind. Management does not seem to care about unlocking a personā€™s potential and getting the most of their performance. They seem only interested in producing more followers, not more leaders.
No method to hold management accountable to core values listed in their own Employee handbook. Employees are expected to abide by the procedures and rules described in the handbook but top management can choose to ignore it when it is convenient for them.
-Top management are NOT learners: No desire to develop and improve their skills.
-They do not ask employees: Whatā€™s one thing you see me doingā€”or failing to doā€”that you think I should change?
-They do not ask how they are doing as leaders. Or ask employees how theyā€™re doing.
-They do not ask what employees need from management that they are not giving them.
-No performance evaluations for both management or non-managment.
-They often fail to emotionally connect with employees.
-They do not speak to employees' needs first.
-They do not focus on what they can put into people rather than what they can get out of them.
-They do not understand basic psychology, how people think and behave.
-They are often resistant to (and even hate) change: Perhaps because they fear losing control. In fact, new information, objective facts, research, stats, and even new ideas are often ignored in favor of what's easiest to do or because of tradition. If something has been done and ā€œworksā€, top management does not see a reason to question it or to improve on it. If something was tried 5, 10, 20, even 50yrs before and failed, top management does not see a reason to try it again even if the exact circumstances have changed.
-They do not empower or give the means, the power or opportunity to do to employees.
-They do not trust others to follow through managing processes and performing tasks.
-They do not lead by example.
-They do not know when to move forward and when to back off, what to improve and how radical those improvements should be.
-They often fail to see options, and plan and prioritize.
-They fail to develop leaders around them.
-Their communication is often poor.
-Their listening is also poor: do not listen for more than facts, but also the feelings, meanings and undercurrents.
-They do not take the time to get to know the people they lead: no weekly check-ins which top organizations have to discuss how employees are doing professionally and personally. Management doesn't ask ā€œwhat was good this week? What was not good this week? How is your well-being? How is your family?ā€
Competence in leadership skills is also poor.
-They are not teachable: not willing to keep learning, growing, improving in leadership and management practices: FCBH has a yearly ā€œleadershipā€ summit. But, the way it is set up, it reinforces weaknesses instead of challenging leadership growth.
The summit is also just for a select few in top management. Not every employee is seen as a leader so most employees are excluded.
Top managers attend the summit but there is no followup, no post accountability by other managers and especially by the employees that are under the managers. No discussion on how management will apply what was learned.
Some of the past speakers have had questionable characters and even questionable teachings (Judah Smith). Leadership qualifications and theological background seems to be ignored in favor of charismatics, dynamics, popularity.
-Top management does not take responsibility for their part of a disagreement or failure and apologize.
-They often embrace a victim mentality.
-They often limit yourself by your job title.
-They do not invest in better tools or processes.
-They are content with the status quo.
-They allow their past achievements to stagnate their desire to keep learning.
-There is a lack of discernment, finding the main cause of problems/issues.
-They do not anticipate problems.
-They do not accept the truth of the problem: Do not face up to the reality of the situation;
-They get bogged down in the details.
-They often avoid problems.
-They donā€™t deal well with problems.
-They do not have their team study all angles.
-They often do not value nontraditional thinking: Donā€™t embrace change, ambiguity and uncertainty well.
-They do not work well with differences.
-They do not have their own mentors or provide mentorship to others.
-They do not invest to improve their own professional or leadership skills.
-They are often insecure, constantly seek validation, acknowledgement and love.
-They limit employee's success and recognition:
-They do not seem interested in making people successful: Donā€™t attempt to remove barriers that prevent employees from being successful.
If an employee who is not management has a great idea to improve the work, management often does not support it and may secretly try to shut it down.
When a team succeeds, management will not give other people credit and instead take the credit themselves.
It seems like some of the people working there were given the title of management, the position, and that alone made them qualified. Management or leaders assume that their position alone qualifies them to make critical decisions where they may not have the best data, insight, wisdom, skill, experience. Just because one may have the word ā€œmangerā€ in the job title, does not automatically make them a great leader. Leadership is about dealing with people, and the dynamics between those people, and influencing people.
*Dead end career path:
For the most part, top management assumes that team members are fine and "settled", rather than taking the time to understand their true feelings and needs. They do not ask employees where they are struggling, where they are having trouble, what frustrates them the most?
Management does not seem interested in making employees better both personally or professionally. They do not have a growth plan or professional development plan for employees. No job related training. They do not provide what is needed to help employees to grow and improve. They don't provide opportunities for employees to apply their talents and expertise. They donā€™t ask how they can better support employees. Employees donā€™t check on each other.
One is expected to work until health deteriorates and skills become obsolete so you leave in a worse place than you started. For most employees, there is no long term future with the organization. Management does not let employees know how they are doing and what the future looks like for them. What the opportunities are. They do not take the time to learn from employees what they want to be. No honest conversations to understand employees goals and ambitions. So, because there is no growth or development plan, no career path, once your skills are outdated, they will probably let you go or they will keep you in the same position and your salary will max out.
Management does not coach employees on how to manage their time, priorities, and energy; no teaching on how to problem solve, or make better decisions, or how to set boundaries or how to minimize context switching and zoom fatigue.

2024.05.14 22:05 No_Seesaw8977 Never questioning the jetpack again

Up until this point, I didn't see the point of the jetpack. That might be because my few friends who bring it just mostly use it for laughs and I haven't necessarily seen them use it in a mission critical way.
But then the other night I was playing with some randoms, and one guy had the jetpack. We had pretty much hundred percented the map and had a ton of samples consolidated at extract.
Once we called in the pelican, all hell broke lose. There was a line of about 4 bile titans and 6 chargers converging on our position. I totally goofed and stood too close to my own 500 kg bomb, thinking the cliff I was pressed against would shield me, nope blew myself up.
The timer had just run down so no reinforcements and two other divers soon joined me in death, leaving one brave diver to face the onslaught for about a minute and thirty left on pelican arrival.
So I got to watch as he dodged dipped ducked dived and dodged around, evading just about everything for those 1.5 minutes. Then came time to actually get on the shuttle. The amount of stuff between him and the shuttle was crazy, no way to run through it. He had survived by skirting the outside of the landing area and running in circles before. I was afraid it had all been for naught and our samples would remain on the surface when he inevitably died.
But then, he activated the jetpack, flew up and over a cliff, totally faking out the chargers on his tail and also blocking some bile spit behind him. Then it was still hairy as he ended up knocked prone with hunters and hive guards all around as he struggled to get up. Eventually he managed to just crawl up the ramp and successfully extracted, winning the day.
And while i only saw it utilized that once, I have no doubt that we all would have perished and those lucrative samples would have been left behind if it wasnt for that well timed and perfectly executed jump over the cliff :)
Just wanted to share, that is all. Keep spreading managed democracy my friends, and hoist a cup of liber-TEA in honor of that brave and resourceful diver, wherever he is...

2024.05.14 22:01 _zerocool_ PC shutting off while gaming

Just as the title states, my PC seems to turn randomly while gaming. I first noticed this when playing Helldivers II and would always occur right when a 40 minute mission would end and transition back to HQ. Figured this may be some weird optimization messing with my computer but when playing Manor Lords, it seems to be shutting off at random intervals. This doesn't seem to occur with other games I've been playing recently as well such as My Time at Sandrock, Diablo IV, and Valorant. So this seems likely to be some spike hitting a security threshold and, as a safety measure, shutting everything off, right?
Well, this seems very likely to be a failing PSU not delivering enough power. So I bought a brand new PSU to replace this one and all the cables associated. Note that I've been using the PC for maybe 4 years with the current configuration without issue until recently, so no new hardware changes have occurred. After changing the PSU out, the issue persists. I checked Event View which indicated some issues but I cleared these all up and now I'm not getting any more errors but again the issue persists.
I've deleted and re-added all new drivers. Ensured Windows is most up to date. I ran tests with HWi and I'm not seeing anything that looks like overheating. Logs showing up to the point of the crash show a core temp hovering around 43C and GPU shows 85C, which is more on the warmer end but I don't think its really at a breaking point.
I ran Heaven Benchmark with no issues averaging the same temps. I ran Cinebench with no issues. I'm reviewed many forums facing the same issue but am at a loss of what it could be.

2024.05.14 21:55 hauntedpuke A man broke into our house with no motive

Around a week ago my roommate woke me up at around 2:30 am knocking frantically on my door. I immediately knew something was wrong and my feeling was validated as soon as i walked into the living room and 3 or 4 cops were inside. My roommate proceeded to tell me a man woke them up by turning their lights on in their room, and closing the door behind him. He then took his shoes off and put his keys on the table. My roommate of course said to get the fuck out, over and over again pleading with him ti leave and that this was not his house, but he kept saying it was his house. He used other various excuses such as this was the address he was given, this is ā€œmacyā€™sā€ house, and ā€œmacyā€ let him in, or someone else let him in, but of course no one did. He seemed to be high off of something but the scary thing is neither of us heard him get in. He took the screen off the window and walked right on through. it was unlocked, even though we thought it was locked. We have a bunch or trinkets on our window sill but nothing was broken or knocked over. How can you be so fucked up you think someones house is your house, yet you are still fully in control of your body movements. When my roommate told him they were calling the cops, he simply went out to the living room and sat on the coffee table and waited for them to come. The only experience i personally have seeing him is when there was one police officer inside and 2 outside holding and talking to him. One of the officers opened a door to either get in or out, and without the slightest hesitation, this man LUNGES at us, his face looked extremely angry and agitated. Itā€™s like he didnt care at all that there were 3 police arresting him, he just needed to get inside. I could hear him screaming all the way down the stairs. What is so eerie is that nothing was stolen or broken, he seemed to really think it was his house, yet the story kept changing. I got in contact with his coworker who said he went out to the bars, but this can not just be alchohol. He does live in our complex, in the building right next to us, which is also scary. The police arrested him for breaking and entering, and resisting arrest on a felony charge, but he was released the next day with no bond. We signed our victim rights but were not informed of his release. We called a bunch of places like courts and various police departments, and kept getting transferred in circles. We did sign our victim statements, but we cannot get a restraining order unless he breaks in again or we have another incident with him. When i spoke with his coworker again she said they all think he was roofied, since he was out at a bar and apparently checked his bank statements and only spent $32. I donā€™t think it was alcohol because he wasnā€™t falling over or being sloppy, and again nothing was broken, touched or stolen. The same goes for a roofie drug, wouldnā€™t it make you lose control of your body movements, and even unconscious and sick? When he entered my roommates room he just stood there on his phone. Definitely confusing, and it sucks because we just donā€™t know why, and probably wont ever find out. Anyways if anyone has an idea of what drug this guy was on please let me know. To the random man that broke in, lets not ever meet again
