To refund or not?
Have purchased an item not hugely expensive, say $40 USD but have since noticed a few things… shop on vacation.. item was given a tracking number on 6th May but have had zero updates past this.. no change.. still waiting for tracking to update. Seller is communication via Ali messenger and saying best to ask for a refund. Should I do this and order a replacement from another shop? Or wait it out? Time still on my side. Thank you!

2024.05.13 16:41 Matheus_Tannus Worth it?

Worth it?
So following up my last post about the crash, I'm unsure when i will get my dolan back. For now have been riding my old bike, the questionable no logo hackeny cycles. Took to the shop and sorted most of its issues out, but just feels like shit and heavy. Went to facebook market place and similar to see some options, i wanted a second ride anyway, so found this one for £400.
The omniums make it a deal i think, but unsure.
Full Specs
Frame: Dolan pre cursa (size medium) Forks: Alpina carbon fibre Cranks: Sram Omnium (+ free set of omnium crank protectors) Chainring: Miche 52t Cog: BLB Orange 17t Wheels: Novatec w/ 700/28c gatorskin tyres Break: Shimano Tiagra Saddle: Charge spoon
I was planning to get a second ride and make into a bit of cargo, for the fun, add the front rack and lower gear ratio... Had a different type of frames in mind, geometry wise, but this came out quite interesting.
Im unsure when i will be able to get my crashed dolan back and don't wanna ride that shit fixie, so... here's this new dolan.
Plus i can swap parts....
Let me know your thoughts and if I'm too delusional rn.

2024.05.13 14:54 sireatalot What derailleur can I use with LTWOO R7 brifters?

I built up an old steel MTB as a 1x10 with LTWOO R7 shifters , LTWOO R7 rear derailleur and a 11-46 10 speed cassette, with a goat link. Considering how cheap the components are, it shifts fine, but now the RD has developed some play and is slightly bent, and I''d like to replace it with a better component, while still keeping the shifters / brifters I have.
I find conflicting info on the R7 shifters: on Aliexpress they say that they are compatible with R4700 and R6800 ( LTWOO R7 2X10 Speed Shifter Levers Road Bike Bicycle Shifter Derailleur Compatible TIAGRA 4700 R6800 R4700 Claris Sora 20s 20v - AliExpress ) which have the 11s cable pull, and also with Sora, which should have the old 10s pull. This doesn't make sense for me.
Ideally I would also like to use a clutched rear derailleur, and get rid of the goat link. I use this bike as a gravel bike so some toughness in the components is welcome. So I'd love to use a Shimano m6000 Deore RD, if compatible.
I'd use Shimano shifters but I hate the external cable of older shimano road shifters and I probably can't afford more recent ones.
Basically what I'm trying to have is a 10 speed mullet setup, with mechanical brakes and without Shimano exposed shifter cables. Without breaking the bank if possible.

Thanks for any input

Merida Ride 100 vs Sintesi Whistler - which one to choose as a first road bike?
Hi,
I'm choosing the first road bicycle, and I have an option to choose from Remida Ride 100 (2016) abd Sintesi Whistler (production year unknown). Let me list the pros for each bike:
Merida is newer, and its components are rather up-to-date (Shimano Sora except the brakes). However, it seems to be more for endurance providing an upright position.
Sintesi is much older, and its components are new but discontinued: Compagnola Xenon. It looks somewhat fancier though.
Which one would you recommend?
Sintesi
Merida

2024.05.11 03:36 dukes01 Would you change this wheel?

Interesting in customizing a wheelset from Light Bicycle or similar. I’m mainly looking for new wheels to drop weight off my stock aluminum wheels, aero benefits, look cool. I don’t need top of the line but thought this was a good middle ground to clearly improve without costing more than my bike. Anything I should consider changing? Should I go for a stock option / big brand instead?

2024.05.09 18:42 aHistoryofSmilence Is this a good deal? 2005 Jamis Comet for $220

Bicycle Blue Book
The bike has extras, like clipless pedals and what looks to be a power meter. I need to go check it out and make sure everything functions.
Groupset: Shimano Ultegra
Any thoughts/advice is appreciated.
I know it's older but I just need a low cost bike that rides well for 20-30 mile rides. This is around my ideal budget.

My current choice is - Kross Cycle 21 gears Shimano gears tell me better options. Few things which I got to know Shimano gears are better. Guys if you could tell the reasons why that thing is better it would be a great help online if we see influencer just takes the name of the company and day that thing is better without any reason Thanks in advance.❤️

Catalog moves list by numbers
So why hate on people’s main? It’s been fun learning all the moves lists since tekken 1.
Back in the arcade days me and my friends played pick the opponent character. So you do not get to choose the person your against chooses it.
It’s even better online these days when you do rematch after rematch going in order of Release, abc, catalog count and others
My point being Stop hating on people because they like one person
Cool you like Chevy ford dodge and I might like a bicycle or getting where I got to by foot. It’s not for you just say so

2024.05.07 08:37 Mepui About Chinese packrafts

I want to buy a packraft to carry me and my bicycle along coastlines, between barrier islands, or across flat lakes in nice conditions. I do not have any experience.
There are some Chinese clones of popular packrafts available. I read about one in this thread here. https://old.reddit.com/packrafting/comments/wp6ura/alibaba_packraft/
I found these two manufacturers, but they might be the same company. The addresses are in the same complex. https://www.loveinflatables.com/inflatable-packraft_c2 https://www.allwantfun.com/Inflatable-Packrafts-pl3384869.html
Because I am totally new, I am afraid to spend so much money on Alpacka Raft. But I also don't want to have a bad experience because I bought a bad product. Or I chose the wrong design from the catalog because I don't know what I need.
If you have tried any of these products, please tell me what you thought.
I think someone will say "buy local" or "buy USA" but in Asia this is the most local option!

2024.05.06 19:15 CollateralDmg15Dec21 Are there any Singapore shops that sell pre waxed chains , ideally Campagnolo 12 speed?

I'm interested to try waxed chain but don't really want to invest into the whole system or effort at this stage. I'll like to get a prewaxed chain with a quick or missing link and pop it on my bike and see if I like it.
Silca has pre waxed chains, the Shimano DA 12 is sold in Singapore via https://www.onebikeasia.com/product-page/silca-secret-chain-blend-pre-wax-chain
For some reason campagolo 12 isn't an option on their official website : https://silca.cc/collections/chain-lube-wax/products/pre-waxed-race-chain?variant=39829960360034
Cyclewax does all chains for all groupsets but they don't seem to have a Singapore distributor. https://www.cyclowax.com/en-au/collections/chains
I've seen other countries bicycle shops offer prewaxes chains that the shops themselves pre-waxed :
Eg. AUS :https://shop.tunecycles.com.au/chain-waxing/
Question: Are there any Singapore shops offering this as an option? ( ideally for Campagnolo 12 speed chains, Chrous or above is fine )
Thanks

2024.05.06 13:30 haydukelives56 best commuter/errand bicycle?

hey y’all - just stumbled upon this community and it seems perfect for my question. i am 26M, 6’ 3”, decent fitness level person looking to upgrade my local errands/commuting bicycle for getting around wilmington, nc. it’s a coastal town, and parking at the ocean is wildly expensive compared to when i first moved here.
i currently ride a trek 1200 old school - all aluminum frame, down tube shifters, a shimano group set that i can’t even read the title of anymore - and the frame is likely a few cm too short for me.
i would love to upgrade to a larger, lighter frame with disc brakes, alongside having space on the front and rear for pannier bags. all riding will be done on roads or paved surfaces, so road tires are just fine. overall budget is $1500 USD! would love to keep it within that range if possible, but not opposed to checking out other options.
thanks y’all! stay safe out there❤️

2024.05.03 14:45 Djinnes Sprocket and chainring compatibility issue, advice needed

Hello!
I'm building my first bicycle. I just installed the crankset and sprocket, and ran into an issue when asking the bike store for an appropriate chain.
The mechanic tried 2 chains, the first 1 didn't fit the chainring, and the 2nd was too wide for the sprocket.
He said that I should look for a sprocket with dimensions 1/2" X 1/8", or chain my chainring. He said it will be much cheaper if I can find the sprocket, but that it will be hard, due to the hub I'm using.
Does anyone know where I can find a 1/2" x 1/8" sprocket with 9 splines?
Or is there another option?

Sprocket: Single Speed Conversion Kit for Cassette Hubs Type (Shimano HG) - 16T

2024.05.03 03:43 Few_Nefariousness_10 Group set swap help

So my buddy wants to sell me a State Bicycle Co All Road Apex for a steal which I would be super excited about. However part of the reason I would be getting it for a steal is because he took the SRAM Rival Axis drive train (1x12) off of it and put it on his bike. He has an SRAM Rival (1x11 Speed) drive train from his old bike that he will include for me. We want to install the SRAM Rival (1x11) on the State All Road Apex
The issue is that the SRAM Rival Axis Group set uses the XD freehub and the SRAM Rival uses Shimano freehub. From our perspective, we can either source a Shimano freehub to put on the All Road or find a cassette compatible with the xd freehub to use. Does anyone have any recommendations I don't know shit about bikes and my buddy has been giving me a headache trying to figure this out.

Looking for options
Looking to get into race bmx. I'm 40 years old. Not worried about being really competitive. I've been riding freestyle since I was a kid. I've been looking at three different bikes. The Redline pro xl. The Meybo clipper pro xl, or the Meybo pro xxl. I'm 6ft. 205lbs. For reference I ride a Fit 22 freestyle bike with a 22" top tube. Also have a 21.5 top tube bike that feels a little small but still comfortable. I don't want to get a bike that's too small, but I don't want one that's bigger than I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.01 22:25 MeNameJrGong Need some help choosing a used bike after my awesome bike that my brother left behind was stolen.

I don't know much about bikes, but my brother left behind an awesome carbon fiber road bike that I used for everything; work, commuting to school, leisure, and so much more... man, that thing was awesome. I felt like it was almost an extension of me, and the last piece of my brother I had. Unfortunately, it was stolen. The thief cut right through the Krytonite lock. I listed it as stolen on bike index and that other site, and filed a police report, but I'm not hopeful. I've been depressed about it, but I need to move on at some point, and I think buying a new bike will help me with that.
My budget is $500, and though I know I won't get anything nearly as good as what I had before (it cost at least $1500, from what I knew), I need something for the time being. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me identify which of the following classifieds listings are good choices.
These first few are listed within my budget:
https://i.imgur.com/WKPMcKH.jpeg
https://i.imgur.com/fYVFxOX.jpeg

Springs are adjustable, 200% more torque Pedals are Shimano clip-ons Wheels/Tires; Quick release Shimano wheels with gatorskins in front and some german tire in the back Single Speed; DMR STS Chain Tensioner Origin SS Hub Conversion Kit Specs;Felt Z6 Carbon Road bike 58cm Weight - ~18.5lbs Size - Medium - 54.5CM TT Free goodies; - Shimano 600 multispeed set if you want - your gears back - Tire liners + tire tubes - Cygolite Metro front and Hotshot rear lights - Few other things"

And now here are some postings that are listed outside of my budget but that I might be able to negotiate lower, if you guys think it'd be reasonable to do so:

🔗Rheem FP-37 LP Natural Gas Furnace Conversion Kit for Propane Installation

The Rheem FP-37 Conversion Kit made my life a whole lot easier. Switching from natural gas to propane wasn't a headache at all, thanks to this kit. The first time I tried to convert my heating system, I was so overwhelmed by the complicated steps and various parts that I had no idea which one to buy. But the Rheem FP-37 Conversion Kit came to my rescue.
The kit includes all the necessary components for the conversion, and the instructions are clear and straightforward. The parts fit perfectly, and I didn't even need help from an expert to install them. The conversion process was a breeze, and now I can enjoy the warmth from my propane heating system without any worries.
However, it's not all positive. The price could have been better, considering how expensive propane is compared to natural gas. But overall, the Rheem FP-37 Conversion Kit was worth the investment. It's reliable, easy to use, and has significantly reduced my heating costs, which is a huge plus for me.

I recently got my hands on the Integy Red Billet Machined Chassis Upgrade Conversion Kit for my Losi 2WD 22S Drag, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. Not only does it give my RC car a fresh, sleek look, but the performance is just mind-blowing.
I really appreciate the quick and easy battery swaps with the new battery straps - it's a small detail but a major timesaver. The variety of colors available is also a nice touch, making it easy to customize my car to my personal style.
On the downside, some parts required new hardware, which meant I had to make a few trips to the hardware store. Overall, though, it's been well worth the investment for the significant improvements in performance and looks.

🔗Efficient 10-Foot Natural Gas Hose Conversion Kit for Blackstone Griddles

https://preview.redd.it/nv0mvparesxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb5cdb6e74bf8499a19f55dc73e1b65844b7e383
As a gastronome with a penchant for griddling, I've recently had the pleasure of using the Blackstone Natural Gas Conversion Kit 5019. It was the perfect accompaniment to my beloved 22-inch Blackstone Griddle. Let me share my experience with this delightful contraption.
In terms of the conversion process, I found that it might not have been as easy-breezy as one might expect. You see, our dear old griddle with its charming H-shape burners simply gave me the middle finger when I tried to remove those bad boys for the sake of transitioning from propane to gas.
Don't get me wrong though, the kit was of top-notch quality, and the 10-foot natural gas hose made my griddle look like a sophisticated and high-tech marvel. The 3/8-inch quick-connect fitting ensured that we'd never run the risk of gas leaks (those can be real horror movies sometimes), and let's not forget our trusty 7mm orifice wrench. It made the process of replacing the orifices feel like a picnic in the park.
Of course, we were warned upfront about the specific Blackstone models that this conversion kit isn't compatible with (1783, 1859, 1968, 1891, 1892, and 2061). However, I must mention that some users did find it to be a bit less than ideal for their 22-inch models. It seems that the H-shaped burners in those griddles might just not want to let go of their propane, despite the alluring whispers of gas.
Although this kit doesn't exactly leave the door wide open for a one-step conversion, I still found the process surprisingly rewarding. And with the invaluable experience comes the knowledge that the next time I'll be attempting such a switch, I'll be a whole lot better prepared. In essence, this conversion kit was a bit of a wild ride, but it was oh-so-worth it. It's a testament to the fact that even the toughest griddle-related challenges can be conquered with the right gear, a dash of tenacity, and a helping of Blackstone's unwavering support.

I recently had the chance to try the Phoenix HP22 Conv Kit for my nickel-finished 22LR firearm, and I must say, it was quite enjoyable. The target barrel with its extended 5-inch length allowed for increased accuracy and comfort when holding the gun. The nickel finish was a nice touch and added a bit of panache to the firearm.
One notable feature was the extended magazine, which provided a more comfortable grip, especially for larger hands like mine. However, I did encounter a few minor issues during installation. The recoil spring needed to be kept in place, and the extractor notch was not quite deep enough, causing some slide failure. But with a little bit of file work, I was able to smooth things out and make it function properly.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my experience using the Phoenix HP22 Conv Kit. While it may have required a bit of additional effort to get it working perfectly, the increased accuracy and comfort of the extended barrel and magazine more than made up for it. I would definitely recommend this product to fellow firearms enthusiasts looking for a reliable, affordable upgrade for their 22LR firearms.

However, what stood out in its cons was that the battery, charger, and tire are not included with the package. Additionally, only conventional bicycles are compatible with this kit, which means tricycles and other non-conventional frames are excluded.
The safety instructions provided with the product were worth mentioning. It's essential not to use the bike in the rain and to wear protective safety gear like a helmet before riding.
Overall, the experience of using this Yescom 48V Electric Bicycle Motor E-Bike Conversion Kit has been quite an enhancement to my daily life. 2024.04.30 06:12 Audi403 Help me pick a first gravel bike

Hey guy,
I'm looking at picking up a gravel bike. I currently ride a Giant Defy Advanced II road bike with a Shimano 105 groupset. I think the bike is from 2016. I mostly want to add a gravel bike for commuting. The bike paths in my area are in rough shape, and I stopped taking my road bike on them years ago (for the most part). I do like to ride fast and push the bike at times. The Giant is my first road bike, and I've never had anything less than Shimano 105. I want something that will shift smooth and fast under all conditions. However, I also don't want to spend a fortune. I'm looking at these options:
Salsa Journeyer Sora https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6030-856/journeyer-sora-bicycle?colour=Black
Salsa Journeyer Apex https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6030-854/journeyer-apex-bicycle
Triban RC520 https://www.decathlon.ca/en/p/8733355/gravel-bike-shimano-105-rc520-khaki
Now, based on what I said above, should I just eliminate the Sora immediately? I've heard they have gotten better. Maybe a 2024 Sora would be as good as my 2016 Shimano 105?
My other issue with this Salsa Journeyer Sora is that the Triban bike comes with Shimano 105 for the same price. They're also roughly the same weight. The Triban is listed as 0.5kg lighter, but it was measured without pedals. I'm not sure if the Salsa Sora weight included pedals. I feel like other than the brand name, the Triban seems like a better bike for the money?
Then the next option up is the Salsa Journeyer Apex. It is $2200 CAD, as opposed to the other two which are roughly $1800. What intrigues me with this is that it has no front derailleur. I always keep my front derailleur in the top gear on my road bike, so I'm almost thinking it would just be nice to get a bike without one. My only concern with this bike is that I'd be paying $400 (Canadian, not USD) more for a bike with a lower level groupset compared to the Triban with comes with 105. I've heard Apex is still a step under 105.
The other thing that I like about the Salsa is that it says you can go up to 50mm tires. I don't think I'd go that high, but I do want something that will absorb the bumps in the bike paths decently. This bike path primarily runs along a river. There are tree roots growing under it and it has plenty of cracks in it. The Salsa comes with 38mm tires, the Triban only comes with 35mm. The Triban says you can only go as high as 42mm tires, but they have this warning:
"Please be aware of the risk of tires that are over 36 mm (1 2/5"). Even if the space between the wheel and the fork and frame is enough for 40 mm (1 1/2") tires, you might fall off your bike if your shoe comes into contact with the front tire. This can happen at low speeds on tight turns and will depend on the size of the frame and the installation of your SPD cleats on your sole."
Now wouldn't this same warning typically apply to any bike? My shoes hit my road bike tires sometimes. It has never made me fall. Obviously wider tires may be worse, but I think that would apply to any bike.
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks
