Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP: It is time to forget about standard Excel sheets and take an enhanced data upload tool
A Time to Forget About Ordinary Excel Sheets and Take an Enhanced Data Upload Tool
Thousands of users worldwide of Oracle Fusion ERP use ADFdi and FBDI for data loading or data management generally. Excel has some great features that help to streamline data analysis. There is no argument that Excel is a highly functional tool for organizational data management.
Ordinary Microsoft Excel spreadsheets have many limitations regarding data loading to Oracle Fusion Cloud. Excel is great for simple ad hoc calculations, but it needs connectivity features to automate and document its contents, making its use prone to error.
Manually keying in data in Oracle Cloud from Excel worksheets or copy-pasting is a slow, time-consuming process that is bound to reduce employee productivity. Accuracy is also compromised, and inaccurate data can cost an organization millions in revenue. Excel needs more automation, so if you handle large volumes of data, there may be a better tool for you. Furthermore, data security is not assured since Excel does not have encryption features.
The standard Oracle tools (ADFdi and FBDI) are rigid in nature; the user cannot move columns around or even easily paste data from another sheet to ADFdi or FBDI. The error reporting and resolution cycle is too cumbersome and needs specialized technical knowledge.
Why do people still use Excel sheets for data management?
It’s cheaper
For a team that doesn't care about automation, why bother spending on something more costly if they can get away with something that stores data tables? Considering its limitations, is it worth it in the long-run cost?
Easy-to-use
Excel is easy to use. It is one of the basic Microsoft Office tools that most people learn to use in basic computer interactions. Because they are already familiar with it, most people find Excel easy to use and often prefer to do so than learn new about new tools.
Limited knowledge of what’s available
Some people are just stuck in their routines. They need help staying current on the newest software available on the market. If the leadership of a team or members does not take the initiative to look around and find out what the market has to offer, they will be stuck with Excel and its attendant costs when others are enjoying the benefits of more advanced tools.
Poor experience with some project management software
Choosing a data loading tool to suit your data loading needs is a task that should be taken seriously. Many data-loading teams that used Excel have been turned off by their previous experience with data-loading tools. Some tools are cumbersome and difficult to use, others are code intensive and not suitable for most end users, and some may need more features you are looking for. The poor experience is a result of poor customization.
Suppose you had a tool that allowed you to use the easy-to-use and familiar Excel worksheet while providing you with advanced specialized features for loading data into the cloud. Wouldn’t that be great?
How to make Excel work with advanced tools
Working with Excel in data loading does not have to be a slow and cumbersome process that does not ensure the accuracy or security of your data. You can harness the power of Excel and still enjoy using advanced data-loading tools. More4Apps and Simplified Loader are Excel-based data-loading to consider.
More4Apps
More4Apps is an Excel-based data-loading tool that allows businesses to integrate familiar Excel spreadsheets with Oracle EBS and Oracle Fusion. Its tools work within the familiar interface of Microsoft Excel, leveraging the many features of Excel to facilitate data loading.
Training is optional since Excel is the main interface, and end-users are familiar with it. Unlike ordinary Excel spreadsheets, which are limited in scalability, More4Apps empowers data owners to carry out mass data uploads and updates.
A plugin must be installed on a PC before you can use More4Apps. The IT Helpdesk needs to be involved in installing the plugin, so only specific PCs can be used.
More4Apps sends and receives data from the server hosted by More4Apps. Considering data security, allowing data transfers to a third-party server without ensuring the details are transferred is risky. Robust testing is required with every release of More4Apps update to ensure your data is transferred to a safe place. The IT Security department needs to get involved in verifying the third-party server and plugin.
Simplified Loader
~Simplified Loader~ is an Excel-based tool designed explicitly for uploading or downloading data to and from Oracle Fusion Cloud. The Simplified Loader template is easy to use. It includes a toolbar that contains operations specific to the template. The output of any operation is displayed in the Excel template's Load Status and Error Message fields.
Simplified Loader Excel files upload or download data from Oracle Fusion Cloud. Simplified Loader’s Excel templates are used either for mass data loads, for example, data migration, or everyday data loading activities in Oracle Cloud.
Simplified Loader ensures your data’s security by routing data from the Excel template directly to Oracle Cloud without a third-party server. The Simplified Loader template doesn’t need plugin installation and runs using Macros, similar to how other Oracle Cloud tools interact with Oracle.
Which template should you choose?
User convenience - Both More4Apps and Simplified Loader provide features that enhance user experience. Most UX features are similar in both products. Since they use Microsoft Excel, additional training is rarely necessary. More4Apps provides a form to input data that is not in the tabular format. Whereas the Simplified Loader provides a single unified sheet to enter data, the same sheet is used to invoke the list of values.
Both tools allow you to insert custom columns, hide or delete columns you don't need, and insert formulas you may need for data analysis. You can also analyze or validate data before uploading it.
Data Security - Oracle Fusion only allows interaction through APIs. Both More4Apps and Simplified Loader use APIs to interact with Oracle, so the security protocols are the same in both toolsets. More4Apps uses an external system to manage licenses. From the IT point of view, in a highly data-sensitive environment, the IT has to open additional ports to interact with the More4Apps servers to validate licenses.
In terms of data security, both toolsets have the same features.
License Management - This topic is considerably different in More4Apps and Simplified Loader. More4Apps restricts the number of times an administrator can update users licensed to use the Simplified Loader template, whereas, in Simplified Loader, the Administrator has full control over maintaining the users licensed to use the Simplified Loader templates.
Support—Both organizations offer excellent support to users who log defects using the support system. Simplified Loader has a vast library of short videos demonstrating product features and functionalities. More4Apps has recently adopted the approach of video tutorials.
Plugin installation - This is a key difference between the two templates. The More4Apps template requires an additional plugin installed on the user's machine. The user will always see an additional toolbar in Excel when working on any Excel document. The user always has to use the PC where the plugin is installed. In comparison, the Simplified Loader Excel doesn’t need any plugin installation on the user’s machine. When the user opens the Simplified Loader file, the Simplified Loader toolbar appears. Users won’t see the additional toolbar when they open any other Excel file.
Using Excel parallelly: When using either toolset, Excel cannot be used for any other purposes. The user has to wait until the data is loaded to Oracle.
Pricing: Both toolsets offer per-user licensing. More4Apps offers licenses per user by module, whereas Simplified Loader offers licenses per user by Template. License management at the template level gives the administrator higher control to assign the right user to the right template, resulting in purchasing the right number of licenses per user. The More4Apps licenses are considerably higher (more than 5x) than the Simplified Loader licenses.
Conclusion
Using ordinary Excel spreadsheets for data loading may not be very effective. Excel may have shortcomings, but you can use it efficiently with advanced data-loading tools to get the best of both applications. Both More4Apps and Simplified Loader provide similar features for loading data in Oracle. Both are advanced data-loading tools that make your experience more pleasant and effective. Simplified Loader is more handy as it does not need plugin installation, and the user doesn’t need any involvement from IT to install the plug-in.

2024.05.10 17:48 Greedy_Letterhead155 An attempt to make android games more playable on Apple Silicon Macs

I've been working on adapting scrcpy that is a tool for Android device mirroring. I tried to improve its usability for gaming on Apple Silicon Macs. In android studio, frustrations with native controls for games like PUBG, Pixel Gun 3D, and Clash Royale led me to make a customized version that better fits the gaming scene. It is better than nothing for me, at least. After I developed it and after a few days of gaming, I thought it would not hurt to share it
What I added:
This project is super early stage. It’s bas a long way to go and a lot to improve. I’m all ears for ideas and feedback. I just hope it can make gaming on apple silicone macs a bit less headachy.
Check it out here: https://github.com/Oct4Pie/anemu
Also, if you are curious about the code changes, you can look here scrcpy fork: https://github.com/Oct4Pie/scrcpy

2024.05.10 09:48 docklandser Bookmarks toolbar disappeared and won't come back

Hello, I'm having an issue with my heavily-customized Firefox installation. I have two Macs, a MacBook Pro (2020) and iMac (2019), both olde-worlde Intels. I've customized FF within an inch of it's life, including a drop-down bookmarks' toolbar which pops up when you get the cursor near to the left-hand side of where it drops down from.
This has worked fine for many years. The recent Beta update to v126 broke a few things, like all my menu title bars went transparent and on some the close button doesn't close it.
But the biggest problem was that on the iMac the bookmarks bar wouldn't appear. So I went into userChrome.css and fiddled with it. I also used the 'Customize' settings as this had happened before and telling it to remove title bar / defaults / restore etc. worked. It didn't this time.
If I run in troubleshooting mode, the bar appears where it should be, fixed. So the bookmarks data itself, I think, is ok. If I run as usual with my profile it doesn't appear at all. I've literally taken out all of the code for the toolbar, every jot to do with that area, and nothing changes. All that appears is the #booksmarks-toolbar-menu icon (which I thought I hid but obviously haven't) and if I click that then the bookmarks appear as a submenu of a submenu.
I've made a new profile, then activate the userchrome and usercontent files - all code relating to bookmarks commented out - no change. I've deleted the places.sqlite file and all other similar ones and re-run. I've taken old bookmarks' backups from before all this happened - no change.
I'm sure I clicked something when doing customize toolbars, the bookmarks came into the main display and I dragged them to drop them on where the toolbar normally pops up. If I color that bar all the time, it appears. But it's empty. I've been thru all the code for the various parts of the bar, and the code is identical on the (working) Macbook and (not working) iMac. All I can think is that I've somehow hidden something that shouldn't be hidden. I've compared both and can't see a difference.
I did drag the bookmarks around within the 'Manage Bookmarks' window but again they seem the same structure between the machines, and both work in troubleshooting mode. I've also imported the laptop bookmarks onto desktop but it still doesn't appear. (They are different between the two - smaller screen = less bookmarks on the bar on the laptop to fit, but nothing appears no matter what)
The trouble is that years' old code, edited and borrowed from the marvellous people on here, then augmented and modified over and over again, fiddled with when updates break it, kinda working on top of whatever Mozilla is doing.. I know this isn't a good recipe to make robust, simple, reliable code. So here I am, two weeks of trying anything and everything, and nothing seems to reset the bookmarks - even, as I say, removing every bit of code to do with them at all.
Er, any ideas?

2024.05.07 08:50 hobonichi_anonymous 🦗Update Thread! Cricut Design Space v8.29.66, iOS 5.66.0, android 5.58.1 (May 6, 2024)

Before submitting a comment about an issue, the #1 thing any user should do when they first experience issues with a new update is to follow these troubleshooting steps.

If issues still persist despite the efforts made in this thread, report the issue to cricut.

⭐⭐Print then Cut users⭐⭐
Calibrate your machine right after an update as your calibration settings will not carry over into the latest update. Follow the advice of the calibration guide. Then do a test print then cut of your project using plain printer paper.
If for some reason after calibration your cuts are still inaccurate, clear cache (the troubleshooting guide above this) and try calibration again.

If you are experiencing issues despite clearing cache, please give some background information:

  • Cricut machine (Joy, Joy Xtra, Explore Air 2, Explore air 3, Maker, Maker 3, etc.).
  • Device (Windows 10, Window 11, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android).
  • Type of project you were attempting to do. (Basic cut, print then cut, drawing, foiling, scoring, etc.)
  • Were you successful in doing this project in the past? Or is this a new project?

What has changed (Desktop v8.29.66)? Update on May 6, 2024.

New Machine Setup Welcome Screen
A new overview of the machine setup steps will now show when starting the setup process.
Videos In Project Details After Finishing Cut
After completing a project cut, the project details page will now display videos about the materials just cut in the Tips & Tricks section.
Fixed field issues: This release
- Selecting certain fonts in the font selection process is causing delays in rendering on the Canvas
- The text box fails to load on the Canvas, and adding a text field in Chinese is not possible.
Last 6 weeks:
Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 74 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:
- Selecting certain fonts in the font selection process is causing delays in rendering on the Canvas
- The text box fails to load on the Canvas, and adding a text field in Chinese is not possible
- Changes made to the latest project are lost upon sharing.
- Draw projects are being opened as cuts instead of drawings, resulting in a color change.
- Save a project on iOS, then open it on desktop, and notice that the changes fail to appear.
- The Canvas tab disappears and it takes longer for the Canvas tab to load.
- The saved project only shows letters on the Canvas, but double-tapping the text box reveals the entire sentences.
- After finishing cutting the mat that's off-screen, the scrollbar scrolled back to the top instead of moving to the next mat.
- My Stuff doesn't show any projects, and the collection is displayed without a name.
- Follow button is not working on profile page
- Profile links that are copied and pasted shows Blank home page.
- Forever stuck on the project details page, with both the customize and make buttons greyed out.
- Print Then Cut images appear distorted or the print preview is not accurate
- Print Then Cut images did not appear correctly on the cut screen.
- The Print Then Cut quality warning message is preventing the user from proceeding to make it.
- Clicking "View All" on recent uploads either redirects to the Inspire/Discover page or results in the inability to access the full set of uploaded images.
- The Canvas performance drastically slows down when inserting high-quality uploaded images.
- The functionality of the automatic background remover has stopped working.
- Uploaded high-resolution images, those above 300 DPI, are displaying low-resolution warnings.
- When uploading an image with a resolution exceeding 300 DPI, it undergoes downsizing, accompanied by a low-resolution warning message for each uploaded image.
- The image icon that regulates the number of images per line remains unresponsive.
- The image loses focus when resized, and after hiding contour and resizing, it becomes impossible to move the image upward in the Canvas.
- There are performance issues with Warp, as it takes more than a second to enter edit mode and experiences lag when additional characters are entered. Additionally, after completing editing and clicking outside the box, there is a delay.
- There's no prompt to confirm unsaved changes, and the previous unsaved Canvas disappears without any notification to replace or save it.
- Using the keyboard shortcut cmd + shift + left arrow key to highlight everything results in improper rendering of the highlight.
- When opening Image Sets, the images load closely together, and the Image Set name tile appears misplaced, positioned between the top and second row instead of the first row.
- When performing combine, subtract, intersect, or exclude operations and attaching them, the color or operations remains unchangeable.
- Upon launching the app, users encounter a white screen, a continuous spinner, and a missing refresh token.
- Even after power cycling and setting the load to go, the -18 machine connection error continues to persist
- When hovering over the mat control multiple times, the mat preview fails to appear.
- When toggling the mirror function, the mat selection jumps, causing the left side to scroll back to the top.
- Cannot remove images from a collection
- Completing the product setup for a second time with a different machine leads to going to the "Get Started" page without setting the correct machine type.
- The "Get Started" page on the left rail and the pointer finger suggest that there's a reason to click there.
- It's not possible to unlike projects, and an error message stating "unable to remove likes" is displayed.
- The bookmark icon fails to switch to "bookmarked" for image sets
- The private profile message fails to display, and opening a project link leads to an empty Canvas without the project
- The shared profile links are incomplete, leading to the home page instead of directing to the profile
- Card Mat - If users attempt to make or customize without selecting a finished size, they will be prompted with the error message, "Select a Finished Size to continue
- When adding a photo to the Project details, it's observed that the image is zoomed in excessively, making it impossible to zoom out sufficiently to display the entire photo.
- It is not possible to cancel a full-page Print Then Cut project from the Mat Prepare screen.
-After completing the cut with Print Then Cut and Basic Cut operations attached, the mat remains unloaded.
-Performing a second search after the initial one yields no results
-Attempting to open a project with numerous sticker groups results in the Canvas displaying a perpetual spinner, rendering the project inaccessible.
-Loading stickers with multi-layered complex projects from project details takes considerable time to customize or make, typically ranging from 5 to 7 minutes.
- The custom border feature fails to function properly with complex shapes and does not create sticker-cut interior shapes combinations as intended.
- The Offset function fails to work with intricate PNGs for creating sticker-cut interior shapes combinations, and the Apply button remains disabled, accompanied by a continuous green bar.
- When deleting a Warp within a sticker group, the border is not redrawn.
- When resizing the sticker image using the Kiss cut & Die-cut Edge option, the image vanishes from the Canvas.
- After ungrouping and regrouping the text, the font toolbar is unavailable for the group.
- Apostrophes and quotes fail to transform into their left-right variants, causing coded single and double quote marks to appear instead of the anticipated left and right variants.
- Text is positioned closer to the bottom right corner, resulting in incorrect text placement after opening a new Canvas and adding new text
- When using the delete button on the laptop to erase text, it becomes evident that the undo and redo functions are not operating correctly.
- After changing a color or moving an image, the undo feature fails to function.
- Users have the ability to delete uploaded images when using new Image Inspiration designs.
- When attempting to upload an image, a message indicating "unable to upload image" is displayed, prompting users to check their internet connection.
- The learning plan redirects to the Canvas instead of remaining on the home page.
- When the uploaded image is added to the Canvas, it displays an image load failure.

2024.05.06 14:46 Low-Scientist-5714 Embed Code and Parameters Values

I am building a website with Wix and have been experimenting with the embed code and how it can be used. On my home page I have an embedded dashboard that presents the users with options to select from.
After selecting one of these options which sets the parameter value, the user would then select "GO" leading them to a new page with a new embedded dashboard, containing the details only relevant to that parameter value.
https://playfairdata.com/tableau-ui-tip-4-how-to-pass-filters-and-parameters-between-workbooks/
In this tip, we can create the go to url action in tableau and pass the parameter by adding ?my_parameter=. this works great, but only seems to be useful when using the tableau urls like https://public.tableau.com/.
It does not work for my case though as I am looking to direct the go to url to my website, with the dashboard embedded.
https://help.tableau.com/current/api/embedding_api/en-us/docs/embedding_api_parameters.html
The other option I found is to add the parameter value directly into the embed code:

In my scenario, I cannot hardcode the parameter value.
I have read a little about javascript and getting parameter value, but am unsure how to put it together. Does anyone have experience with doing this?

2024.05.05 23:33 RraaLL Shreddit - various bugs, lacking features, and other inconveniences from a moderator's perspective

Here's a list of various shreddit issues I've encountered which (for the most part) make moderating more difficult.

Editing

  1. There's a bug where trying to edit some posts or comments removes their content, making it impossible to edit them on this interface. Video Link + Link to a comment that is not in the video
  2. There's another bug where the edit button sometimes doesn't even show up on this interface. Video Link
    1. I had reported this previously as part of another bug, but it's possible it's been overlooked.
    2. I think this also happens to some comments, but I can't find examples in my saved right now or I've waited too long and examples got archived already.
      1. Speaking of which, comments that are locked archived can't be edited on this interface. Video Link
  3. Trying to edit any message automatically forces Fancy editor, which means any markdown-specific features/formatting is lost. For a technical community that heavily relies on the use of inline code and code boxes, forced fancy editor is a real inconvenience.
    1. Having been using markdown for years, the use of backticks is just ingrained in us. I've been trying to use this interface for the past couple of months, yet I regularly have to edit comments after submission because I forget to switch to markdown and use that syntax in fancy.
      1. The fact that the markdown button is hidden by default makes things even worse.
      2. After switching to markdown the editor collapses to a minimum until you type anything, which is very distracting and can make you lose your train of thought.
    2. Enabling inline code or code boxes via menu items is very inconvenient. And like above, they're hidden by default.
  4. Editing code boxes is sometimes buggy too.
    1. The contents inside can get switched around. Video Link - Link2 - Link3
    2. Or something weird I just found - the edit box shows up ABOVE the contents of the comments. The edit box doesn't work. It thinks it's always empty. So this is basically worse than the "wipe" bug. Video Link - Link2 - Link3
      1. To be honest, I'm not sure if this bug is limited to comments with code boxes. That's what I was looking checking, so that's what I found.

Replying

  1. Selecting text of a comment and pressing Reply no longer quotes it, like it does on "old" and "new". Quoting now takes a lot more effort than it used to.
  2. Selecting text and dragging it to a text box is no longer possible. The text gets reselected instead of being dragged.
    1. I understand it's probably because you added the embed feature... I'll never use that feature. I have no use for it. There should be a setting to disable it. Why don't you add a Quote button next to it? That is something I'd (and likely many others) gladly use.
    2. The problem with it is that I rely heavily on dragging text, whether to do partial quotes, grab content from the Rules sidebar or even to copy the ban reason (which seems to be hidden from users) to the message to the user.
  3. On mobile, the Reply button is hidden in the 3-dot menu. And it's not even the first option under it when clicked. Seems like an awful obstruction to one of the most used features on the site.
  4. Replying to a locked or archived thread (as a mod) is not possible on this interface (similar to the edit section above).

Flairs

  1. There's no flair editing on this interface. We can only choose premade flairs or switch to another interface.
  2. Flairs are hidden under the mod menu and are not easily available outside like on new.reddit. This is a huge inconvenience for mods who need to change flairs sometimes multiple times per post (depending on the progress).

Moderating

  1. Posts removed by automod don't have the "confirm removal" button inside. They look like normally removed and can only be approved. To confirm removal, I need to get back to mod queue.
  2. Removed or spammed posts cannot be changed to the other like it's possible on previous interfaces.
  3. Removal reasons are highly buggy. After choosing one of the reasons, "cancel" or "[X]" submits the removal reason. Here's a post where I tested this yesterday.

Notifications

  1. Notifications don't get marked read when clicked or opened in a new tab. Sure, clicking a notification shows it being marked read, but after a page reload or opening the notifications list in another tab, it shows the notifications as unread again.
    1. I don't want to click "Mark all as read", because that's gonna be annoying to do every single time. Also, I sometimes leave notifications unread on purpose when I don't have the time to reply and want to circle back later.
  2. Notifications to comments containing images don't display the comment's text. Just some "check it out at (subreddit)".
  3. Notifications linking to comments in posts that were removed by us (mods) cannot be clicked because "the content is not available anymore" (or something like that). No problem in a new tab though.
  4. If a user has a broken avatadead external link, they're not given a broken icon in notifications. Alt text is used instead. Due to limited width the text stretches under the previous notification too.
  5. There is no longer a modmail shortcut in the toolbar, meaning no separate modmail indicator. Relying on a single notification that leads to the latest message (or sometimes doesn't even show up), whatever it is, isn't reliable enough and might lead to missing some important messages. And having to open mod tools to then navigate to modmail you might want to search or so you can contact other mods, seems like an unnecessary step.

Interface

  1. User settings don't exist for SHreddit. It opens new reddit's, which are not honored on SH. Other than occasionally needing to open a pinned post, I don't want to sort the sub I mean moderate by "Hot". Unfortunately, all links leading to it, even leaving mod tools resets it back to "Hot".
  2. Post creation doesn't exist either. Not a big deal for desktop since it launches new reddit's, but the mobile version is way too bare-bones. And selecting communities is broken there.
  3. While viewing profiles (even one's own) it's nearly impossible to open comments in new tabs. You can only use the timestamp for that. That's not very convenient... If you click on one comment itself, you get redirected. Obviously, going back will not bring back you back to the same place you were before (if you were past the initially loaded comments).
  4. There is no option to disable these ridiculous, often half-a-screen (or more) thumbnails that SHreddit grabs from external links. Most of the times the added images have nothing to do with the actual post content. Even if you include images yourself, if there is an external link used before the image, the random preview will get added at the end of the post. And so what that the image it grabs is tiny? It'll still force expand it to match the width of the post. Video
    1. At least it doesn't seem to show up on mobile.
  5. No following posts or comments.
  6. Theming is kinda limited and used the same values for both color modes so you can only choose semi-good values for either dark or light mode, not both.
    1. It doesn't seem to work for everyone. E.g. I have an account I use for testing automod, etc., and the theme only shows up for a split second there, then it disappears. No way I could find to enable it. Video
      1. Similarly, the account seem to autocollapse removed comments (doesn't happen on "new" or "old"), when the sub itself is set to not collapse them. (Shouldn't be part of theming, but I don't wanna create a separate point for that.)
  7. There is no way of hiding that left side menu other than zooming about 200% or resizing your browser window. There's really not many links I might want to use there. And the collapse section buttons are totally useless since they reset on a page refresh.

---

All of these have significantly impacted my moderating such that my activity dropped from the long time 2nd (sometimes 1st) position to 4th (sometimes lower), even below that of automod.

There's probably more issues I've yet to find. I haven't paid mobile much attention either. But I've been postponing the submission for too long already - 80-90% of this was drafted about two months ago, I just didn't have time to finish this (gather examples, etc.)

---

I wasn't sure if I should submit this as a bug report in bugs since it involves multiple bugs (some might be related though) and other things that might not be considered as such.

macOS Big Sur. Arduino IDE is closed while I open the Max patch, so the IDE cannot block the serial. The led on the Arduino board keeps blinking (for testing purpose) and if I open the IDE and its serial monitor, the 0's and 1's come through. It used to work a year ago on the same Mac with the same Arduino board and now it doesn't.
The weird thing is that I am able to send data from Max to Arduino though.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks!

2024.05.04 00:06 PaulLFC [Help] autohide_toolbox tweak for compatibility with YouTube?

I've been using the excellent autohide_toolbox CSS from MrOtherGuy's firefox-csshacks GitHub, and for the vast majority of browsing it works perfectly. I have two issues I'd like to solve, but I'm unsure of how to do so.
  1. Because the toolbox appears as soon as you hover over the bottom of where it would usually be (which is some way from the top of the screen), this covers up the very top of some websites - the main one being YouTube. Because of where the search bar is on the YT homepage, search is inaccessible as the toolbox pops in and covers it before you can reach it with the mouse. My hope to fix this if possible was to change the point at where the mouse cursor causes the toolbar to appear, so it's closer to the top of the screen (even right at the top would work).
  2. The same issue affects Firefox's PDF reader and its toolbar - the main FF toolbox covers up the PDF bar. I don't use this much so it's not a huge issue, but I think if my theory for fixing point 1 above was possible, it'd fix this as well.
The current code I have is the original code on GitHub here - https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/firefox-csshacks/blob/mastechrome/autohide_toolbox.css
I tried modifying some of the numerical values to see if I could change where the mouse cursor has to be to make the toolbar appear, and try to set that point to be closer to the top of the screen - but I clearly didn't modify the right part of the code, as I couldn't get this to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could tweak this please? Thanks in advance!

2024.04.30 03:16 hobonichi_anonymous 🦗Update Thread! Cricut Design Space v8.28.55, android 5.57.0 (April 29, 2024)

What has changed (Desktop v8.28.55)? Update on April 29nd, 2024.

Convert to Layers
This exclusive feature for Cricut Access subscribers lets you instantly convert an uploaded multicolored image into separate layers! Once you upload an image, select Multiple Layers, then select how many layers (separated by color) you want to work with on the Canvas. Anyone can preview the results of the Convert to Layers feature. To add it to your Canvas, you'll need a Cricut Access subscription.
USB Connection Screen Refresh
The USB page of Product Setup was updated with more detailed instructions.
Cricut Destination Pages Show in Search
Now Cricut destination pages will appear as tiles under Collections in search results.
Fixed field issues: This release
- Copying the project link and pasting it on Facebook doesn’t work and it fails to open the project
- Changing a material does not remove the star wheel warning message on the Set-Load-Go screen
- Unable to change fonts, the Canvas fails to render font changes after multiple attempts
- Some system fonts are not displaying font previews
- When editing a duplicate or copy-pasted non-basic cut text, the operation type defaults to basic cut
- Save the Pattern results in an error message stating, “Pattern fill not saved.”
- When dragging or rotating, the path data remains unchanged.
- User is able to skip the consent prompt and keep using Design space.
Last 6 weeks:
Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 74 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

2024.04.29 10:06 Any-Lawfulness-897 Issue with coding program Nvivo

Hello everyone
For my master's thesis i'm working with qualitative data, so I'm using Nvivo to code my data (thematical analysis). But, I got a problem with Nvivo and I don't know how to fix it... I can't code anymore on Nvivo, everytime i try to do it it just won't work and then there comes an error on my screen:
"Error Message: Cannot nest DataTransactions

Does anyone know what this means and what i could do? I'm really clueless, i just hope i dont have to start all over again?
Thank you in advance!

2024.04.29 03:55 Curious_Foundation13 Using River Auto Material 2019 to generate river at runtime

Using River Auto Material 2019 to generate river at runtime
So I found this tool overall very useful, but I'm running into a small problem which I couldn't resolve. Essentially I've copied some code from the API into my scripts to generate the river from scratch at runtime in my game scripts. It's all good except one last bit. As you see from the screenshots, the river isn't wide enough, although I set the width thereof in the script to match the carved riverbed. In order to actually 'effect the width', I need to manually click (i.e. by hand) any of the buttons in the RAM menu (inspector). Button selection is done by setting
mainRiverSpline.GetComponent().toolbarInt = 1;
https://preview.redd.it/zxvdjyj1bbxc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=14fcb9d8b540a204cf2f3c46de96fe8676a324d9

where the number is the index of the button. That, unfortunately, doesn't work as expected. If anyone sorted this out, or has a working runtime generation script, I'd be very grateful. Also, for some reason, lake generation doesn't have this issue.

2024.04.28 05:33 writeeverything Sams Teac Yourself SQL in 10 minutes... Stuck on Lesson 1 - Help please!

I'm following the instructions from the book for Lesson 1, and when I copy and pase the data from the 'Create' file, then hit the 'Execute' button, the action output always returns with an error.
Here are the instructions from the PDF -
  1. You can now type SQL [I did] in the editor window, but you must first make sure that your newly created schema is selected. You’ll know it is selected if the name tysql is shown in the Information panel below the Navigator panel.
  2. To create the database tables, copy and paste contents of the Create file into the SQL [I did] editor window (you may see warnings about keys, you can ignore these).
  3. Click the Execute Query button (yellow lightning bolt) to execute the script.
  4. Now that you have tables, we need to populate them with data. Delete the text from the SQL editorwindow. Nope, no tables, only errors for me.
Running on a Mac, but everything up to this point didn't seem to give me any issues. Any ideas of help would be greately appreciated.
Reddit didn't like my image I included, so here is a link to it.

2024.04.27 22:41 LaserWingUSA Fastest framework for transition to a web app from a pyqt6 app?

I wrote a desktop dashboard app that is well liked by my office, but it is a bear to maintain and distribute with pyinstaller false positives. I here to make parts, not distribute code so I am looking a good path to move to the web.
Here is what it currently does:
* Talks to Zoho Creator, PaperlessParts, Autodesk, and a few other APIs to trigger operations. * Uses jinja2 to make editable/printable work orders that can be saved as html. * Makes and finds OneDrive folders for work order file storage * Has about 12 other buttons that just trigger stuff over apis. * Jinja2 produced directory of our vendors, and customers
The current layout: * A toolbar up top * A QWebEngineView where I push the jinja
Essentially it's a dashboard made with pyqt6, qwebengine, and qsettings. I've reasonably separated the UI and the rest of the app when I switched from tkinter last year. Having never built a web app, I didn't design it for multi user.
My requirements are simple: * I don't want to fuss a ton with login and auth. I just want it to sorta work if possible * A UI template would be nice. So if your suggestion is flask or Django, I'd appreciate templates to avoid fussing here. * easy deployment
Thanks for the help everyone.
