Been interested in poker for a long time but have always felt intimidated. Last two weeks it’s been my fixation and I really want to be able to walk into a low stakes game confidently in about a month or so. My knowledge is effectively zero but I have been trying to get a grasp of the principals needed for intelligent play and have started by digging deep into pre-flop play. I don’t have any access to home games unfortunately.

1. The poker room I want to target as my jumping off point is Chasers in Salem, NH. Does anyone have any opinions on it, in terms of what level of play I should expect sitting at a 1-2 table?
2. With a $300 max buy in, how much cash are you bringing with you? When starting out, is it wise to only buy in once and leave? I have expendable cash and am willing to “pay” to get some experience- I guess I want to know if it is outrageous to blow through $900 in a night when starting out. When should a noob pack it in?
3. It took me far too long to figure out PokerStars play money isn’t going to teach me anything about real poker. I’ve been trying to find a solid tool that will let me simulate play against a decent (not necessarily GTO) opponent but haven’t found anything that looks useful. GTO Wizard and GTO+ seem far too advanced and not really exactly what I’m looking for. I know with chess there are tons of resources like this that simulate the play of specific rankings- any suggestions?

I know there is a ton of info out there, but so much of it feels too oriented on GTO principles and I’m scared to waste my time on resources that aren’t optimal for going from 0 to 1 in terms of low stakes games. What has felt most useful to me is watching Brad Owen explain his thought process, but I’d really like a resource focused on developing a well-rounded view of the game and is more instructional. Any suggestions? Would consider paywalled stuff as well, looked at Negreanu and Ivey’s Masterclasses but those feel kind of cheesy
5. I understand slow-rolling is a faux pas, but what exactly is it? Is it just feigning contemplation when you have the nuts/a strong hand? Or is it also “reverse bluffing” where you intentionally disguise the strength of your hand initially through limping/not raising, and ultimately put your opponent in a position where they believe your later betting is in reaction to the turn or river? The latter feels actually strategically useful while the former is objectively just rude. If the latter is also bad, is there a sliding scale where this type of behavior is sometimes allowable?
6. Any general advice to help me avoid beginner’s mistakes and not look like an asshole is hugely appreciated

Remember that when Oda started writing One Piece he had no idea how long the manga might last. It could be a short lived “unfinished story,” but it also could be a manga that lasted only 2-3 years where the creator is given notice they only have so much more time to wrap everything up. This never became an issue because one piece became so popular that Oda realized he could any details he wanted and complicate the overall story.
He may not have even had beyond a rough idea for things like the void century, ponoglyphs, Imu is revealed ridiculously late into the series. This is true of many manga/anime, but the the vast majority do not last longer than a couple years. The massive shonen successes are able to.
There are two examples I can think of. The first is Naruto, where kaguya is literally not revealed until the very, very end. Things like Itachis history, obitos first appearance, and Tobi’s identity could have been revealed much earlier if hype for Naruto dropped off.
Another example is full metal alchemist, where the entire series essentially ending up looping to the exact things that were presented in the first few chapters. Oda has very clearly known what the one piece is since the very beginning.
In my opinion there are two key factors to determining the one piece. The first is obviously the laughter. The second is that they were “20 years too early.” Most theories can only account for one of these, but not the other.
Many people will probably laugh at my theory and find it ridiculous, but that’s is part of the point. My theory is that the one piece is something like: a giant statue that looks almost exactly like Buggy. This plays into the theories that the one piece is a giant amusement park, or a party to throw for the whole world, or at least a party for the fish men.
A clown is the “character” of this amusement park. Like Mickey Mouse for Disneyland. This was so funny because Shanks and Buggy were the two members that were not able to actually see Laugh Tale. The crew member that was the most important was ironically the weakest and got left behind. Joyboy himself was a clown, or maybe his close friend was and they created this theme park together. Joyboy is Walt Disney. Buggy is Mickey Mouse. Or maybe even the reverse. Or maybe there’s a statue of the both of them. The giant straw hat taken from this theme park by Imu was worn by the statue(s)
The owner of the amusement park will be able to achieve unknown riches, if they desire. They can charge admission if they want to but neither will. Luffy and Buggy’s awakened fruits will both be required to truly access this amusement park, and probably to destroy reverse mountain as well, both giving all citizens of the world access to this park and creating the all blue. Within this park are the secrets of the void century and the will of D. The D is just a symbol of laughter, like this :D
Who are two of the first villains introduced? Buggy and Arlong. These are pretty clearly two characters that are planned from the very beginning. This plays into my amusement park/giant party theory being hinted at since the very beginning. The fishmen might be the first people to access the park, and all others will join the party over time.
Shanks eventually became aware that both Luffy and Buggy’s awakened fruits are required to achieve this, which is why he searched for Luffy’s fruit. He found it and thought he and Buggy would be the required pair, but it was actually Buggy and Luffy. The fact that these two “enemies” have to work together is ironic, even more funny. Shanks realized that Luffy is the new Joyboy of prophecy and sacrifices his arm and gives Luffy the hat
So this is kind of a combination of several theories like the amusement park/giant party. They were too early because Buggy had not awakened his devil fruit, and was unlikely to for a long time.
The series could end by all of these characters drinking sake together in the park, similar to what others suggesting the one piece is sake. Perhaps from a giant bottle held by the statue(s) or located somewhere towering in the park, like the castle at Disneyland. The one piece is buggy in “one piece,” being the clown of the amusement park instead of separating himself into separate parts. The final poneglyph says something like “have fun!” Or “laugh together!”

INTRO

The two services your server is now running are sshd for remote login, and apache2 for web access. These are both "open to the world" via the TCP/IP “ports” - 22 and 80.
As a sysadmin, you need to understand what ports you have open on your servers because each open port is also a potential focus of attacks. You need to be be able to put in place appropriate monitoring and controls.

INSTRUCTIONS

First we'll look at a couple of ways of determining what ports are open on your server:

• ss - this, "socket status", is a standard utility - replacing the older netstat
• nmap - this "port scanner" won't normally be installed by default

There are a wide range of options that can be used with ss, but first try: ss -ltpn
The output lines show which ports are open on which interfaces:

The network notation can be a little confusing, but the lines above show ports 80 and 22 open "to the world" on all local IP addresses - and port 53 (DNS) open only on a special local address.
Now install nmap with apt install. This works rather differently, actively probing 1,000 or more ports to check whether they're open. It's most famously used to scan remote machines - please don't - but it's also very handy to check your own configuration, by scanning your server:

Port 22 is providing the ssh service, which is how you're connected, so that will be open. If you have Apache running then port 80/http will also be open. Every open port is an increase in the "attack surface", so it's Best Practice to shut down services that you don't need.
Note that however that "localhost" (127.0.0.1), is the loopback network device. Services "bound" only to this will only be available on this local machine. To see what's actually exposed to others, first use the ip a command to find the IP address of your actual network card, and then nmap that.

Host firewall

The Linux kernel has built-in firewall functionality called "netfilter". We configure and query this via various utilities, the most low-level of which are the iptables command, and the newer nftables. These are powerful, but also complex - so we'll use a more friendly alternative - ufw - the "uncomplicated firewall".
First let's list what rules are in place by typing sudo iptables -L
You will see something like this:

Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination 

So, essentially no firewalling - any traffic is accepted to anywhere.
Using ufw is very simple. It is available by default in all Ubuntu installations after 8.04 LTS, but if you need to install it:

sudo apt install ufw 

Then, to allow SSH, but disallow HTTP we would type:

sudo ufw allow ssh sudo ufw deny http 

BEWARE! Don't forget to explicitly ALLOW ssh, or you’ll lose all contact with your server! If not allowed, the firewall assumes the port is DENIED by default.
And then enable this with:

sudo ufw enable 

Typing sudo iptables -L now will list the detailed rules generated by this - one of these should now be:

“DROP tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:http” 

The effect of this is that although your server is still running Apache, it's no longer accessible from the "outside" - all incoming traffic to the destination port of http/80 being DROPed. Test for yourself! You will probably want to reverse this with:

sudo ufw allow http sudo ufw enable 

In practice, ensuring that you're not running unnecessary services is often enough protection, and a host-based firewall is unnecessary, but this very much depends on the type of server you are configuring. Regardless, hopefully this session has given you some insight into the concepts.
BTW: For this test/learning server you should allow http/80 access again now, because those access.log files will give you a real feel for what it's like to run a server in a hostile world.

Using non-standard ports

Occasionally it may be reasonable to re-configure a service so that it’s provided on a non-standard port - this is particularly common advice for ssh/22 - and would be done by altering the configuration in /etc/ssh/sshd_config.
Some call this “security by obscurity” - equivalent to moving the keyhole on your front door to an unusual place rather than improving the lock itself, or camouflaging your tank rather than improving its armour - but it does effectively eliminate attacks by opportunistic hackers, which is the main threat for most servers.
But, if you're going to do it, remember all the rules and security tools you already have in place. If you are using AWS, for example, and change the SSH port to 2222, you will need to open that port in the EC2 security group for your instance.

I am trying to set up synology custom ddns name (xpto.synology.me) to work with tailscale and inside my local network. I have managed to get it work with tailscale, I have installed dns server and created an A record for *.xpto.synology.me with tailscale NAS IP address. Then in tailscale i have created a custom nameserver with only the ip adress from synology and selected the option "override local DNS". When I'm connected via tailscale I can access everything that I have configured in reverse proxy (like paperless.xpto.synology.me, etc, etc).
I wanted to make this setup work in my local network, but I am not seeing how. I have tried to setup a A record on synology dns server to point to synology ip address but it didn't work.
