2024.06.07 21:09 Traditional_Cell_248 Role Player Bargains: Trendon Watford

A lot of the focus is one who the 3rd option will be coming into next season. Personally, I don't find this discussion as interesting with all of the balls in the air, but more importantly, I truly believe any 3rd option would end up being undeniable upgrade over Tobi. I'm more interested with who the next Oubre could be this offseason, the cheap signing that can turn into a value contributor. One of the players I have grown to like the more and more I watch is Trendon Watford.
Player Profile
Watford's physical profile is where the intrigue begins for me. He is 6'8" with a 7'2" wingspan at 240 pounds. Position is where the intrigue continues. I'd describe him as an energy big with a handle. But not sure that does it justice. According to play-by-play data, he has played about 50/50 of his time in his career at PF and C. What's interesting is that there was 1 game against the Knicks at the end of the season wit Schroeder out that Watford started at point guard. Still only 23 years old too.
Statistical Profile
I'll start with what will be the biggest gripe of Watford: 3 Point Volume. Despite being a 40% 3 point shooter last 2 years, he has low volume. This year he averaged only 2.9 3PA per 36. It is up from about 2 per 36 last season but I'm not going to make the case he is going to turn into a high volume shooter all of a sudden, though they're encouraging signs.
Just focusing on box score stats, there is intrigue in just about everything else. Per 36 he averages 8 rpg, 3.6 assist per game and 1.8 stocks per game. Digging in further, his shot distribution and %s are even interesting. Nearly 40% of his shot attempts come in "floater" range (3-10 feet), where he is a career 51% from this part of the floor. This is absolutely elite. For reference Luka also shoots 51% in this range Also shoots 70% at the rim. Only 43% of his 2P FGs were assisted, so hes generating most of these looks on his own which is even more impressive.
The tracking data is what most intrigues me from his statistical profile. One of the stats I've been looking at a lot more is player eFG% based on how many dribbles come before their shot attempt. For most players outside high usage star level players, eFG% drops off a cliff for shots that come after more than 1 dribble. For context on the Sixes, Joel and Maxey still maintain an eFG% around or above 50% for shots that come after 1 dribble. As you can imagine, Tobias Harris's eFG% goes into the gutter when ever he starts taking more than 1 dribble (mid-40% eFG%). Similar with basically all other Sixers players too.
What's insane is that Watford's eFG% increases when he takes more than 1 dribble - he shoots in the high 50% eFG%. Almost 60% of his FGA come after more than 1 dribble. As I'll lay out, the eye test backs this up. He is always pushing in transition. Even in halfcourt, he is able to keep his dribble alive. He is pretty shifty for being 240 pounds with the ball in his hands, he overpowers smaller defenders and can beat bigs off the dribble

Transition
Probably Watford's best ability is initiating and finishing in the fast break. The dude just starts going once he gets the rebound and has the footwork and touch to finish off the glass.

Pushing the pace leads to an easy assist in transition

Passing
This is my favorite part of his game. He is a big that has ability to run pick and roll as a ball handler. He rejects the screen, recognizes the help and hits Bridges for the open 3.
https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2023/12/14/0022300322/80/10e07e7d-c2a8-a7c2-e6b7-64881ffe55d1_1280x720.mp4
Runs PnR again, hits the open cutter from top of the key

Self Creation
Watford is deliberate with the ball, willing to attack mismatches without wasting dribbles (unlike a special someone we became too familiar with)
https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2023/11/10/0022300010/122/30914933-716c-cc62-484e-76d164f5e9fe_1280x720.mp4
Takes OG off the dribble, beating him to the rim.

Defense
My inkling was he had to be a bad defender as a "tweener" type but I didn't necessarily find that to be the case in a few games I watched. His agility helps him navigate screens. He doesn't get burned by White below, he "funnels" White towards the help - something that works well with Joel in drop coverage.
https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2023/11/10/0022300010/123/dec53777-8fb0-b8ac-fb97-18c7378d6eb1_1280x720.mp4
Stays with Brunson on the mismatch, is able to contest at the top of Brunsons fade away.
https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2024/04/12/0022301175/59/207c0062-afbd-afd8-7946-2808be7f609c_1280x720.mp4
Doesn't leave his feet on the Hart pump fake, stays with him step by step and smothers him on the fade away.
https://videos.nba.com/nba/pbp/media/2024/04/12/0022301175/75/df8998ac-c24f-cfb7-557b-e409b17dbba3_1280x720.mp4
Fit in Philly
While I don't think Waford truly solves 1 glaring issue of the team, I think his diverse skillset gives Nurse a player he can truly mold as Watford continues to develop. I think the low hanging fruit for Watford is giving an option as a small ball 5 that can push the pace in transition, giving a contrast to Joel's play style that compliments Maxey's speed. Having a center that can initiate the break off rebounds can lead to outlet passes and trail 3s for Maxey + whoever the 3rd option is when Joels sits. I also don't think he is truly "small" given his weight and wingspan. But I also think he has small qualities that will mesh well with Joel. I think he would be a pretty good entry passer for Joel for one, he has never played with an offensively skilled big to date in his career, he makes quick decisions and has nice touch on his passes. He also grabs 2 offensive boards per 36 as well. His touch and explosiveness around the rim gives him great cutting potential playing off of Joel. He is capable of hitting open 3s, if he develops into a medium-volume 3 point shooter I think he has strong starting potential in the NBA given that all of his other skills are fairly polished for a big man in the league.
Salary wise, he has only made minimums being an undrafted free agent. I think something along the lines of a 1 + 1 around $5M/year would be fair to him, he'd have the opportunity to outperform that pretty easily and would quadruple his career earnings. He was buried in the rotation due to the Nets incompetence and lack of direction; they had Mikal, Cam Johnson, DFS, Claxton and their rookie draft picks (Wilson and Sharpe). I think he has skills that will be amplified playing with all star teammates and be a swiss army knife bench piece. I admittedly am a sucker for wings and bigs with handles, I think its an underrated skill that ends up separating players that develop into higher end offensive players. I think he has interesting enough tools that can help him turn into a solid 7th-8th man.

2024.06.07 20:30 cristianm94 Is this jealousy?

Is this jealousy that I’m feeling? I’m not a jealous person or envious so that ’s why I’m questioning what I am feeling. I’d rather get it off my chest. I really don’t like the way I’m feeling, it feels gross and icky.
To sum it up, I’m waiting to take my NCLEX in a month and doing what I can to prepare. I work in an icu and have been an extern there for a while. The extern manager forced another extern upon the unit from what the director told us and she wasn’t open about it but decided to give it a try. This new individual doesn’t say thanks when I help, doesn’t go into rooms when the pumps are going off and doesn’t seem to be a good team player from the times I’ve been working with her. A few night nurses tried to give her feedback and all she did was huff and puff, roll her eyes and kept replying with okay and those night nurses refused to be with her again but certain people really like her. I, on the other hand, have had a bad feeling from the first time I met her. It’s like something in my gut just keeps telling me not to engage and not to trust her. Today, she got recognition for simply following unit guidelines for documentation. I don’t know why that annoyed me enough to come here and post.
We are now officially transitioning from the extern position to an RN position and I can say the gap is insane and it can get overwhelming at times and I’m also dealing with impostor syndrome. I’ve only heard positive feedback from my preceptors but I still feel like I can be doing more and better. Is this common? That’s another thing I want to get off my chest, sorry it’s long. Maybe I just need to vent.
Thank you for reading and any advice given.

2024.06.07 20:22 No_Seaworthiness2327 Don’t go at dating so hard that you burn out

TL;DR: I'm off the apps for good after an emotional breakdown. Going to focus on non-dating oriented meetups revolving around things I love: the outdoors, the environment and entrepreneurship. Whatever happens, happens.
32M living in Baltimore. On Wednesday, I officially had a panic attack and an emotional breakdown from the stress of dating. I hit a hard low from just realizing how much energy I put into something that gave me zero returns. I made the hard decision on Wednesday to delete all my dating apps, and gave my matches a heads up and a courtesy message telling them I wasn't ghosting them and giving them my number saying I'd be down to actually meet in person. That message did lead to a positive response so a small win for me from going off the apps completely.
I realized that I was borderline depressed over the lack of matches turning into actual dates and progressing further. My sleep cycle was messed up and my performance dropped at work. Luckily I work for a great startup team that's super supportive so we're working on a plan to get me back to peak performance, but for someone else, it might have meant getting the boot and losing their job.
I'm done with the apps, for good this time. My go to from here on out is meetup groups that involve things I love like hiking and biking. I've signed up for a kickball tournament. I'm actively involved in a group of young environmental entrepreneurs in the Baltimore area to discuss ways to fight climate change in the construction sector. It's not a singles event but we have socials and there's a chance to make more than just a professional connection. Heck I'm open to any possibility of meeting someone.
My takeaway: I can't destroy my mental health for the minor convenience that online dating gives you-the chance to digitally connect with another single person. I spent 8 hours of my day virtually connecting with my company teammates and can't afford to do more virtual stuff. Its just not worth it
I'm going to risk it with non-dating, low pressure meetup events. Whatever happens, happens. Will provide an update in a few weeks.

2024.06.07 19:14 Flimsy-Pear-8883 So much time on social media

This chick, in addition to her obvious mental health issues, is also severely addicted to social media. She must spend the majority of her waking hours filming and posting her crap sob stories and invented memories. Now let’s remember she said a few days back that she could only stay awake 3 or 4 hours a day… she looks as fit as a fiddle and not tired or stressed. I think we would all collapse in surprise if she ever posted one thing and didn’t mention… terminal or dying or time left to live . A whole team of mental health specialists would have a field day with this narcissistic attention-craving liar and liar is exactly what she is. So she was a fall risk according to what she said the nurses said just two days ago but again with the violin… - and let’s turn song lyrics composed by another individual into something all about her and her woes … Can’t make this stuff up ! Wait until she gets exposed !!! The media will have a field day with her.

However, there are exceptions, particularly in sectors like tourism, education (English teaching), and multinational companies. Expats might find roles in these industries more accessible without Italian language skills.

What Jobs Are Most Needed in Italy?

What is the Minimum Wage in Italy?

Day 1 - Friday
2 am - L wakes up and I get her back down 3 times before 3 am. At 3, H takes her out of the room to burn some energy before they both come back to bed roughly an hour later. Thanks, L. Thank you, H I was getting pretty frustrated with our darling child.
6:30 am - The first alarm goes off and I grab L for a cuddle and morning nursing session. Once she’s done, she rolls around and tries to climb both of us to get our phones before we all get out of bed at 7. Today is a PJ movie day at daycare so we don’t bother dressing her only changing the diaper and then H and L are out the door by 7:15. I leave for work at about 7:45 after doing some putting around.
8:15 am - I get to work and my first stop is the coffee machine. I get back to my office after talking to a few coworkers about our social club golf event next weekend. I see that an industry-specific mentor cohort program is open for applications so I find my most recent resume (2021!) and do a major update before applying. This year one of my goals is to work on leadership skills and mentoring so why not apply?
9 am - I had a hard time finding a bra this morning so I go online and purchase two new ones from the local bra-tique for pickup. My total is $170 after my 10% discount for signing up for their email list. This money is coming from my $500 annual work benefit for whatever I want and I now have $20 left. I eat my breakfast at my desk - yoghurt and homemade granola today.
11 am - I have a webinar on caribou to attend so I log into Zoom and while it's loading, pull up our cashflow forecaster to get the payday finances done before the weekend. $1750 to H’s cc to cover some overspending/vehicle expenses, $100 to the LOC, $373.10 for utilities, and $450 for daycare. Total is $2673.10 I’m not sure if I should include the bills in the daily writeups, but ah well. Day 1 spending is off to a great start.
1 pm - I get the notification that my bras are ready for pickup. Woohoo! I get new bras for the weekend! I send $50 to H’s TFSA once I confirm the bank account is connected.
2:30 pm - Eating lunch now as breakfast was so late. Freezer butter chicken with broccoli. I only have 1 more freezer meal at work so I make a note to restock.
3:30 pm - I work on some cycle times for the log haul for this coming logging season. It takes me a few minutes to remember exactly what I’m doing and how to do it. I am super glad I came back to work at the end of April as I get 3-ish months of slow time to get back into the swing of things before work starts to pick up.
4 pm - I am struggling to do any more than format my Excel sheets so I figure it’s time to pack it up and head home.
4:30 pm - After picking up my bras, I go to Once Upon A Child for some cheap baby clothes. L is in between sizes and we somehow managed to misplace all her more summery sleepwear so I’ve been grabbing a few here and there. OUAC has a sale on, 5 sleepers for $15 so I grab 5 of those and 4 other onesies for summer. We have a family photoshoot on Canada Day and I’ve been hunting for something that’ll match L’s ribbon skirt. $30.45
5 pm - I stop at the store to check the mail and grab a 12-pack of mixed tequila smashes. $37.55
5:30 pm - H calls. He’s off work and headed to get L. I pull burgers and fries out of the freezer, start up the BBQ and get the air fryer going.
6:05 pm - H and L arrive home in perfect time as the burgers and fries just finished cooking. I have an open Pineapple Tequila Smash and I hand H one to drink with supper too. L also has a veggie pouch with the burgers and fries.
7:20 pm - L is in bed nursing to sleep after her bath while H preps episode 4 of Obi-Wan Kenobi for us to watch. We watched it when it was first coming out, but he saw the discs at Walmart last week and figured to grab them. We thought we hadn’t seen all the episodes, but so far we’re 3:3 so we might’ve seen them all.
7:40 pm - L is down and out and I sneak out of the bedroom. I start a load of laundry and find the two bras I couldn’t this morning and handwash them. I sit down with H and we watch some Obi-Wan Kenobi.
10 pm - I check my email and see one from a local photographer group I really like. I’ve done at least two shoots with all 3 of them separately before and they’ve now joined forces. I went to their open house yesterday and won 50% off a boudoir package in 2024. I’ve wanted to book in since they announced their group, so I go through their open spots and book for November. My initial deposit is $262.50.
10:30 pm - We finished the last 3 episodes and watched all previously except for the finale. Of course. It was pretty good, but near the end, I started to scroll on my phone more than pay attention to the show. I swap the laundry, shower and head to bed at 11 pm.
H’s spending Day 1: $7.54 for lunch, $267.58 on vehicle parts/oil change that we didn’t budget for. Normally we would’ve, but communication is kinda crappy atm, and I think that’s due to sleep deprivation.
Day 1 total: $775.62 spending + $50 to TFSA. Oof off to a spendy start for the pay period.

Day 2 - Saturday
2:40 am - L is awake again and not going back down. This time it’s my turn. It’s already been a not-great night, hopefully, this 2 am party time doesn't keep happening.
4 am - We go back to bed. Our internet is on autopay and the notification comes through for my credit card. $105
7:20 am - L is up for the day. I don’t want to get out of bed yet, so I cuddle H and L rolls around, tries to stand and almost deletes everything on my phone. Then she notices my boobs so it’s time for a quick nurse.
8 am - I run the coffee machine and get breakfast going. We’re having pancakes this morning. While they’re cooking I pop some milk in the frother to make a fancy coffee. TBD if I drink it while it’s still hot. I feed the cats their morning meal.
8:30 am - H gets up and I’m still cooking. He grabs a coffee and takes L into the living room so I don’t trip over her and the plastic container horde.
9:30 am - H plays some Baldurs Gate 3 and L watches while I sort through the laundry I did last night. I try to get dressed and none of my shorts fit anymore so off in the donation bag they go. It’ll be a summer of dresses I guess! I start another load of laundry.
9:50 am - L is ready for a nap. Just kidding she just wanted some boob instead. We go outside afterwards to get some morning sun. Hopefully, this will tire her out and she will go down for a nap later! She hasn’t been big on sleep since she was born and gets major FOMO so we have no semblance of a schedule on weekends.
10:45 am - I bring L back inside and change her into outfit #3 for the day. Her trike got rained on and she gets soaked when she sits in it. I switch the laundry over, start yet another load and then pass L to H so I can head to the store, fill the Jerry can with gas for the lawnmower and do the recycling. 20 L of gas is $32.78 and I grab two lime slushes for H and I ($5.19). It’s +20 already and gorgeous. Total $37.97
11:30 am - L is ready for a nap! By 11:50 she’s down and I head outside to mow some of the lawn. It’s usually a 4 hr job so I don’t think I’ll get it all done today.
1 pm - I head inside for lunch, we’re having tuna sandwiches. L napped for 20 min and I didn’t get more than half the lawn mowed. After lunch, we head into town to hang out with my friend K and her two kids. We met in college back in 2014 and have babies of a similar age so it’s always nice to go over and visit.
4:30 pm - We leave K’s house and I swing by Wendy’s for a cold coffee-type drink for the drive home. I try the chocolate frosty-cinno and it’s terrible. Should’ve just gone to Tim’s for an ice cap. $4.19
5:05 pm - L fell asleep on the drive home so I hang out in the car with the windows down for another 5-10 minutes before moving things inside. She wakes up and we head in. H picks a meal and starts making dinner. L is fussy and still tired so I nurse her and we hang out in the cool basement while H cooks. I sort through the laundry that finished off today.
6 pm - H is still cooking our dinner, I reheat leftover pasta for L. H runs her bath and I bath her. She’s still grumpy on and off so she’ll probably be going to bed right after this.
6:45 pm - H and I eat chicken wings and shrimp poppers. L has decided it’s not bedtime yet, I tried to put her down and she got a second wind instead.
9:30 pm - I work on the website for one of the non-profits I volunteer for once L goes to bed at 8. After I’m done, I head into the craft room and work on the custom rag quilt project. One row left to sew together, then to put the final 5 rows together, figure out my borders and start cutting all the edges! It’s not ‘due’ until mid-July but I’d rather get it done sooner and not have to rush. My SIL texts and asks to borrow $50 till Thursday, I send it over out of my spending.
11 pm - H and I both go to bed after some kitty snuggles
Day 2 total: $92.16 (not counting $105 for internet)

Day 3 - Sunday
7 am - L is awake and I nurse her a couple of times cause she can’t decide if she’s happy or not. It was a decent night, but she must still be tired from not napping much yesterday. It’s my day to sleep in so H takes her out of the room by 7:30.
9:30 am - I get up make some coffee and slowly start on breakfast
10:30 am - L and I are eating breakfast, I made scrambled eggs, fried up leftover sausage, tomato and she also has two crackers with cream cheese. H and I wrote up a grocery list before I sat down and he’s off to town to get groceries and fuel up the car before the work week starts. Usually, H and his best friend C have a grocery shopping bro-date every Sunday, but C and his family are out camping this weekend so H heads in alone.
11 am - L is ready for a nap. I put her down and fold her laundry and the house laundry, taking a few breaks to scroll Reddit or Facebook and drink more coffee.
12:30 pm - L woke up and is kinda grouchy so we have a dance party to elicit baby giggles. H gets back from shopping and we put the groceries away, they cost $374.03. This is actually cheaper than the last few times we did a stock up so that’s nice! Groceries include ground beef, frozen chicken, wings, fries, cucumber, tomatoes, grapes, bananas, yoghurt, frozen lunches, macaroni, Ichiban, burgers, buttermilk, perogies, frozen fruit, frozen veggies, gravy mix, hollandaise mix, and more. We’ve been buying more convenience foods lately, but I do have 3 suppers planned for the week. He also grabbed me a big coffee mug for $6. He got gas for $60.83, and once we unload the groceries, he runs to the store for bacon, 2 jars of our favourite cowboy candy (pickled sweetened jalapeños), chips and a Starbucks frappe drink for $41.93. I make some sandwiches for lunch for tomorrow so I don’t have to scramble in the morning.
1 pm - Lunch is Ichiban noodles for H and I and baby charcuterie for L - strawberries, grapes, ham, cheese, and cucumber. We head outside afterwards to enjoy the weather, L is so close to walking, she pulls herself up onto everything right now. She has an after-lunch snack of mown grass and dandelions.
3 pm - We’re back inside and H puts on Die Hart 2. L goes down for her second nap at 4:15 and we finish the movie. I wake L up at 5:45 so she doesn’t sleep too long. When she wakes up she makes a face identical to her dad’s and it’s hilarious.
7 pm - H is cooking dinner, we’re having eggs Benny and bacon for supper. I prep L’s diaper bag for tomorrow and we run it out to the car. I also put all my laundry away so the closet is ready for the week. H sits on the chair once we’re done dinner and both cats flock to him and spread themselves over his legs.
9:45 pm - I finish off piecing the quilt top and head downstairs to shower. L is getting tired too so as soon as I’m done we head to bed. H is not far behind us.
Daily 3 total: $482.79. This is pretty usual for a grocery shop day.

Day 4 - Monday
6:35 am - My alarm goes off. Can’t lay in bed today as I need to meet my coworkers at the office at 7:30 am. We’re doing a team bonding mountain hike and it’s a 2.5 hrs drive away. I grab a banana, toast a bagel, add cream cheese and I’m out the door before 7 after filling up the cats' food.
7:30 am - I get to the office, fill up a water bottle, make a coffee and grab a few things from my office. Almost everyone is there, and we leave at 7:45
9:45 am - We’re there! I’ve seen 2 moose, 1 mule deer, 1 elk and almost hit 2 caribou on the highway already today! We start up the trailhead at about 10 am
1:00 pm - This mountain is much steeper than anticipated. A coworker and I decide at about 300 metres to the top that we shouldn’t push it. The last km has been extremely steep and we’ve hit our max. The rest of the group has gone ahead and summitted. We eat our lunch with a great view and start the trek back down.
3:30 pm - We’re back at the trucks! 11.2 km round trip. We hit the road to head home and stop at Dairy Queen for a celebratory ice cream. I spend $4.92 on a medium dip cone.
6 pm - Back at the office. I call H and let him know I’m headed home now and he suggests chicken wings for supper. I’m down for anything as long as I don’t have to cook.
7 pm - We all eat dinner. L has some veggie pouch, chicken wings/nuggets and leftover pasta. I am almost too tired to eat. One cat keeps trying to get L’s nuggets so he gets in trouble and shooed out of the dining room.
8:15 pm - I try to put L to bed and she goes down for a bit but decides ultimately that it’s not actually time for bed.
8:40 pm - I go and have a hot, hot shower, my muscles are sore and tomorrow might not be fun. L and H party in the TV area, she’s pulling herself up onto everything and trying to crawl up the couch. Not sure where she got this energy from! One of our cats comes for some aggressive cuddles and pets and H puts his dirty t-shirt on the chair for him. Our cat loves dirty laundry it’s hilarious.
9:20 pm - Time for bed for everyone. Hope tonight is a good night and we all can get some rest.
Day 4 Total: $4.92 (this would have been covered by one of the superintendents but a few people got ahead of her in line so she couldn’t pay for us all). My card is also charged by the garbage disposal company for the dumpster ($40.43 - counted in the bills above).
H didn’t spend any money today.

Day 5 - Tuesday
7 am - The first alarm went off at 6:30, but we are all tired and don’t want to wake up. I nurse L for a bit then we get up at 7. I’m pretty sore this morning so I’m not moving too fast. Get her dressed and H and L leave by 7:10. H fed the cats this morning so I don’t have to.
7:30 am - I forgot to pay H’s other cc and it’s due in 4 days so I pay it off now - $93.80 (random Amazon purchases and my KU). I pull some chicken out of the freezer to defrost and make my breakfast of homemade granola, hemp hearts and yoghurt. I leave the house around 7:45 to head to work.
8:20 am - I get to the office and immediately get asked some questions about blocks we have slated for this Fall/Winter. I’m not 100% sure of the answer and have to double-check with my boss. I grab a coffee and chat with the head boss before my boss arrives. I clarify what I need and relay the info back to my coworkers.
9:30 am - I eat my breakfast while I scroll through online courses offered by my company. I got an email yesterday of one I’m supposed to take so I book into that.
11 am - I book H and myself massages, 2 each - one this month and one next month.
12:30 pm - I took a long time to eat breakfast so I’m not quite hungry yet. I grab my running shoes from the truck and take a slow walk on the elliptical to help my sore muscles. This morning hasn’t been too busy, but I’m having a hard time starting my next big task (cycle time calculations) so hopefully the slow walk helps some.
1:30 pm - I’m back at my desk and diving into cycle time calculations. H grabs KFC for lunch $24.12
2 pm - Lunch time, I’m having a leftover sandwich from yesterday, a grapefruit cup, grapes and strawberries. I also grab a chai with milk from the coffee machine. I eat while I plug away at the cycle times.
3:45 pm - I finish off one section of cycle times and my brain has had enough. I go fill my water bottle and chat with a few coworkers. At 4:15 pm someone comes by to sign a few cheques I asked for and I leave the office at 4:30 pm
4:40 pm - H grabbed buttermilk instead of heavy cream and I need it for supper tonight so I swing by the grocery store. Then, I head out of town to a colleague’s house to drop off one of the cheques. $4.95
5:15 pm - I check the mail, get home and start cooking. We’re having Skillet Dijon Chicken with Asparagus and Mushrooms for supper. I also make some macaroni for a side. H and L get home about 5:45 to the cats waiting at the door.
6:20 pm - Supper is served! It is delicious. L and H aren’t fans of the asparagus, but the chicken, macaroni and sauce are perfection! H also riggs up a tie to L’s water bottle so it doesn’t hit the ground every 30 seconds. We fed the cats at the same time and they’re not begging for food quite so much tonight.
6:50 pm - We’re finished supper, H cleans up and I bath L.
7:30 pm - H calls my/our best friend J via FaceTime and we chat with her and her daughter R for a few minutes. L tried to steal the phone and gets mad when we don’t let her. J’s daughter requests a morning call so I promise to call at 7 am. J doesn’t think R will be awake yet so we’ll see!
8 pm - L is tired and ready to go to sleep. I put her down, have a hot bath, throw in some epsom salts, and read a bit on my KU.
9:40 pm - Bedtime!
Day 5 Total: $112.17 (removed $10 for my KU - counted in subscriptions)

Day 6 - Wednesday
7 am - I nurse L, she had a weird wake-up last night so we’re tossing the idea of taking her into daycare today. I’ll probably take her in a bit later and H will take his truck so if I have to WFH for the afternoon I can. Try calling J and R and there is no response - I am not surprised.
7:45 am - L and I leave the house, she’s not coughing much and doesn’t have a fever or anything so she’s good to go to daycare today
8:15 am - I drop L off at daycare
8:30 am - I get to the office. I talk with a few coworkers and ask our admin if my new phone has been dropped off yet.
9 am - My new phone is here! Now to start the setup process, everything takes forever with all the authentication apps we need. I also go through all my iCloud photos and organize/save them to my OneDrive while the phone is getting set up.
12:30 pm - I think the phone is finally done. Now to eat some lunch, I’m having leftovers from 2 nights ago - chicken nuggets, strawberries, grapes and a Cherry Bubly.
1:30 pm - H goes to a food truck for lunch. $35.01. This includes the tip.
3 pm - I had some more phone set-up to do. Might be finished now? Get an email about the cats’ annual checkups and vaccinations so I book their appointments for August.
4 pm - SIL paid me back the $50, plus another $50 she’d borrowed earlier. (+$100) I work on the photo garland for L’s first birthday for a bit.
5 pm - I haven’t gotten much done today beyond setting up my phone. I leave the office and pick up L at 5:20. I talk to her day home provider for about 15 min about how she’s been doing, etc.
6 pm - We get home! H has cooked supper already, so as soon as we get in the door we sit down to eat. Supper tonight is perogies and garlic bread. L also has a veggie pouch. H tells me the old vehicle was sold, and the buyers are doing a payment plan. We will get $300/month for the next 10 months. A lump sum would be nice, but H’s coworkers will handle all the paperwork so it’s no more work for us.
6:45 pm - Time for a bath! H cleans up supper, cleans the litter boxes (we have 3) and starts some laundry while I take L and get her cleaned up.
7 pm - All finished in the bath. We head downstairs and hang out until L is ready for sleep. I mostly scroll my phone and H plays on his Rog Ally. L climbs the couch and me and scoots around on the floor hunting for different treasures.
8:40 pm - L is ready for bed. I put her down and read some more KU
10 pm - H and I head to bed. I washed and dried a baby quilt to bring to work in the morning for a coworker.
Day 6 Total: $35.01 for H’s lunch. I spend $0, and ‘make’ $100

Day 7 - Thursday
6:35 am - The first alarm goes off. It’s a new one on the phone and nice to wake up to! L doesn’t want to wake up and she grumbles and rolls around.
7 am - We all get out of bed. I get L dressed while H packs up what he needs for the day. I get her milk together and they’re out the door by 7:15
7:50 am - I leave the house. After H and L left, I did the dishes and packed up my stuff for the day. Made a smoothie for breakfast (yoghurt, flax seed, orange, banana, rhubarb jam, frozen berries, watermelon, cranberry juice and milk) and there’s lots left over so I pop that into the fridge for tomorrow. I need gas in the work truck, so I head there before going to the office. I have a fuel card so I don’t spend any $ on fuel.
8:30 am - Get to the office and it’s time to make a coffee. I have some things to get done before my webinar at 11 am.
9 am - I show the quilt to my coworker, she loves it and buys it! (+$100)
11 am - Oops. I didn’t get the login link earlier and don’t know who to contact to get it so no webinar for me. I scroll Reddit and my socials and work a bit more on my cycle times. I snack on some grapes and drink another coffee.
1 pm - Lunch time! I’m having leftover skillet Dijon chicken and macaroni. It is still delicious, that recipe is going into the rotation for sure! H goes to McDonalds for lunch and spends $35.66. He bought a coworker lunch as well, she was having a rough day.
2 pm - Chat with a few coworkers about different projects/things we need to think of for this next year.
3 pm - I have an afternoon pick-me-up snack of Brookside pomegranate-flavoured chocolate and a ginger ale.
4:30 pm - I’m tired and don’t feel like doing anything else. I leave the office and call H to see what we should do for supper. We decide on potstickers and veggies, I’ll start cooking when I get home. I stop and check the mail on my way home too.
5:45 pm - H and L arrive home. I take L into the spare room and we call my mum and grandma for a video chat. L rolls around the bed and shows off how she’s almost standing!
6:10 pm - We sit down to eat, L isn’t that interested in either the potstickers or veggies so we pull out some leftover macaroni and she goes to town on that.
7 pm - Bath time! H cleans up and does some more laundry. It just seems to never end.
7:30 pm - Bedtime for L. I read some of my book while I put her down.
8:30 pm - SIL texts again to borrow $50. I send it over out of my spending. I get all of the borders cut for the custom quilt.
9 pm - H has SING on so I sit down to watch it, he’s also playing his Rog Aloy and I’m reading some more of my book.
10 pm - We go to bed.
Day 7 Total: $35.66 for H’s lunch. I spend $50, and ‘make’ $100

Grab a cup of coffee or tea because this is a long story (I apologize but hope its worth your time to read).
My revenge began with discovering my wife's infidelity (let's call her "Keri"). After fourteen years of marriage and three kids, I saw a text appear on her "work phone" for just a few seconds that would forever change my life. It was a message that was sexually graphic and had no business being on anyone's "work phone". It was on the lock screen and the sender's name was visible (let's call him "Perry").
Background: I married Keri when I was 25 and she was 22. I was teaching high school at the time and she was a RN. After having our first child, Keri became a stay at home mom. Money was tight, so I took on an admin roll in my department and coached two sports for the stipends. We made it and after a few annual pay raises, I stopping coaching and took advantage of a program to earn an administrative credential.
Once I made the jump to administration, our last child was ready for preschool and Keri decided she wanted to go back to work. Nursing jobs are always available, but they're not always the best positions. Keri pretty much had to start back at the bottom, working alongside nurses that were a lot younger than she was and could work back-to-back double shifts that took at toll on Keri. When she asked her supervisor about other positions, she was told that without a BSN, she wasn't going to move up (at the time, Keri had only the 2-year ADN). I told her that between preschool, afterschool rec, and my retired mother (who was always willing to pick up the kids from school and watch them), I'd support her getting her BSN.
It took her three years, but eventually she had her BSN and was promoted to a better position at the hospital. Things were good for a while. We had plenty of money, so finally moved into our own "McMansion", bought new cars, etc. I'd moved from school admin to the district admin, so I had more time to spend with Keri and the kids. She was working a more predictable schedule and even with my often-long hours at work, this change allowed us to finally take vacations to all the places we'd put on a list during our Honeymoon (she kept that list in our wedding album).
At some point years later, I noticed she's carrying two phones with her. When I asked her about it, she said that it was a phone provided by the hospital. I didn't question her explanation because my district had also given me the option of a phone or a phone stipend (which I took instead). Again, months went by and I thought we were a happy "perfect" family.
I charged my phone in our den while she charged her phones in our guest bedroom that doubled as a computer room so we could keep tabs on the kids while they surfed the web. I was updating software on the computer when I saw a light around her work phone. She had a habit of always turning her phones face down when charging them. Out of curiosity, I reached over to the phone and flipped it over. A message had popped up on the lock screen asking her when she'd like to be "orally pleased again' but in much more graphic language. I also saw that "Perry" sent it.
The world stopped around me. I just froze. My first thoughts where "What the hell was that about? Its her work phone! That kind of message gets people fired!" Then it hit me... was Keri having an affair?
It's amazing how the brain works. I suddenly started remembering a lot of things Keri had done that seemed "odd" but I'd either dismissed them myself or immediately accepted her explanation. She was always walking out of the room to answer a call or return a text and claimed that it would violate HIPAA if I overheard her talking about a patient. I accepted this because education has similar privacy laws regarding students. She would sometimes come home with the faint smell of cologne on her clothes and claimed it was from helping to move male patients. Again I accepted this at face value, but it always struck me as odd how it seemed to be same scent of cologne.
Once the proverbial barn door was open, I started seeing a lot of things that I'd missed before. Our love life in the bedroom had cooled off considerably which wasn't helped by her having to leave the house at odd hours to "fill in for other nurses that called in sick". I also recalled where I'd seen the name "Perry" before and a call to the hospital confirmed he was a doctor there.
For the next week or so, I was walking around in daze trying to put all of the pieces together. One of our kids had left a book in Keri's car, so it was an excuse to visit the hospital (Keri had told me personal visits were frowned upon). My kid went up to get Keri's car key (I'd "forgotten" my key to her car at home), I talked to a nurse in the lobby and "joked" about how "work phones" seem like a blessing but all they do is put you on call 24 hours a day. This led to her eventually telling me that the hospital was too "cheap" to give cell phone to nurses, so only high level executives got them (which didn't include Keri).
With pretty much everything confirmed, I took some personal time off the next day to talk to a divorce lawyer. The news she gave me was horrible. We lived in a community property state with no fault divorce. I made more money than Keri, she'd been the primary caretake of the kids, and we'd been married for more than ten years. Basically, if I filed for divorce, I'd be screwed. Lose the house, pay alimony, she'd get a huge chunk of my retirement, and I'd pay child support for the next decade unless I was lucky enough to be awarded joint custody. The worst thing she told me was that it didn't matter that she cheated.
It. Didn't. Matter. I was crushed.
There was only one person I could trust with this kind of information. She was a fellow teacher that had also made the jump to administration (but was "stuck" at a school site). Let's call her "Anne". Anne had been married at 19, but her marriage was annulled when he got some other woman pregnant. Since then, she'd focused on her career and we'd found we were kindred spirits in a lot of ways regarding K-12 education.
I talked to Anne. She said something to me that changed my whole mindset: If you don't like the hand you're dealt, change the deck. I realized I had two problems: I made more money than Keri and she had more time than me to be the primary caretake of the kids.
The second issue was actually kind of easy. At every district office, there are jobs that are "fast tracks" to higher positions and there are jobs that administrators suffer through (like Mess or KP duty in the military). One of these dead-end regulatory positions was open again (ambitious administrators leave after a couple of years when a better position opens up). I sat down with our district superintendent and asked about being transferred to that position. At first he was shocked but I told him that it was "my time to take one for the team" and it would fill a "hole" in my admin experience. He agreed.
It was really just crunching numbers with no personnel or student interaction so I could set my schedule, even take a laptop home and work there. With my new free time, I began taking the kids to school, picking them up from school (not leaving them in afterschool rec or having my mother watch them), and taking them home. I'd help them with their homework, make dinner, etc. While the end goal was to become their primary caretaker, I can't explain how much I really, really enjoyed taking a more active roll in their day to day lives.
My salary hadn't been reduced, so I needed to find a way for Keri to make a lot more money than she was in current nursing position. I remembered Keri being mad after she'd earned her BSN and a supervisor told her "in the future, bachelor degrees will be worthless and everyone will need at least a masters degree". Keri had worked hard to get her BSN and that supervisor's comment pissed all over her hard work. I talked her into starting a MSN program. I told her that since I had a much more flexible work schedule, I would keep taking care of the kids. She was reluctant at first, then I said, "You could have every evening free to study or go to class, whatever you want to do." I saw her eyes immediately light up, probably thinking that she could spend more time with Perry.
To make sure she was actually completing her MSN courses, I paid her tuition and fees directly to her university. It was going to take her between two and three years to finish.
Those years were rough at times. I could tell every time she was rushing off or coming back from seeing Perry. There was an excitement or sense of satisfaction in her eyes that just wasn't there when she was doing her coursework. I had to either smile or pretend I didn't notice. My temper got short at times and I found myself in arguments over petty nonsense. A couple of times I almost blew the whole charade having to bite my tongue and apologize rather than scream insults at her that she deserved.
Anne remained my confidant through all of this. I'd recommended her for my previous "fast-track" position and she joined me at the district office. Anne was qualified, hardworking, ambitious and only needed her foot in the door to impress the higher ups. I even got a few pats on the back for recommending her after she impressed everyone.
Anne and I started our own affair. It wasn't some hot-blooded, passionate romance, but two friends giving each other what they need. Without Anne, I wouldn't have been able to maintain the charade of being the oblivious cuckold. But when Keri would come home smiling after spending time with Perry, I was able to bear it, smiling back because I had my own lover.
After three and a half years, Keri completed her MSN and was promoted at her hospital. Her salary went up substantially and was now higher than mine. When the kids and I made her a "congratulations dinner", I made a joke about her being the "breadwinner" for the family and she laughed, joking back I should be a stay at home dad now.
A month later, I went back to the lawyer (who didn't remember me at first) and told her the financial situation had drastically changed. With these new facts, she drafted the petition and filed it. When the kids were with my mother, I had Keri served. The deputy knocked on our front door and I let him in, pointing at my wife. He asked her name and then handed her a copy of the divorce petition. With the deputy standing there, I told Keri I knew all about her affair with Perry (but I didn't tell her how long I'd known). I told her to go be happy with her doctor lover. She screamed at me, tried to lie, and then made the mistake of rushing toward me.
The deputy stopped her and warned her that women go to jail for domestic violence, too, "now". He suggested she pack a bag to stay somewhere else. Keri left after I promised not to tell the kids about her affair. I didn't tell the kids. But I told my mother, who told my sister, who told her kids, who told their cousins (my kids). It took a few days, but eventually the kids knew that dad was divorcing mom because "she had a boyfriend".
In the end, the court granted the divorce, giving me primary custody of our kids (because I was already their primary caretaker), I kept the house with the promise I'd refinance to buy out Keri's half, she was ordered to pay child support, and I used that fact to negotiate with her to give up any rights to my retirement if I bought her out.
I was able to refinance "my" home (it was the era when banks threw money at everyone to buy or refinance a mortgage) and with a little money borrowed from my parents, I bought our Keri's community property interest in the home and in my retirement. The day she signed all the paperwork with my lawyer finally ending any possible financial obligations to her was the happiest I'd been. I felt like I could finally breathe. I celebrated with Anne who'd been my rock through all of it. I'm not ashamed to say that through the years I'd cried many times in her arms. Anne and I would eventually marry. She got promoted to a higher position and I was "convinced" to take back my previous position at the district when my youngest child reached high school.
Keri and I got along well after the divorce. We took the kids to family therapy and worked out this co-parenting thing. For the few few months, she took a beating from the kids about "why she needed a boyfriend when daddy was there all along?" Between the kids and the therapist raking her over the coals, I didn't have to say anything at all. Keri missed a lot of time with the kids because of her now legitimately busy work schedule and I actually felt bad that my kids were missing time with their mother, so encouraged them to talk to her on the phone instead.
When Keri found out that I'd proposed to Anne, she congratulated me. I told her its okay for her to marry Perry, too. She got sad. She told me that Perry had started seeing another woman, a younger nurse at the hospital, because with her new position, she didn't have time for him and when they did get together, she wasn't "fun" anymore. My ex-wife, the woman who'd cheated on me and destroyed our marriage, was looking to me for sympathy. I had none to give.
What I had was years of anger and frustration. Years of knowing some other man was sleeping with my wife. I'd lost weight from not being able to eat, I'd suffered hypertension and had to confide in my doctor why it wasn't the stress of my job. I had to listen to my dentist complain about how I was grinding and listening to him tell me I'd need dental implants if it kept up. There were times when I had to be intimate with Keri to keep up the charade (fortunately infrequently), only to lie that I wanted to use condoms to "remind us how we used to have sex when we were dating" or "because I might have a bladder infection", then go take a STD test anyway and wait for the results before seeing Anne again.
But in the end, it was all worth it. Sure, Keri got a big payout when I bought her out of the house and my retirement, which she was trickling back to me through child support, but she lost everything else. Her kids only saw her every other weekend and spent a couple of holidays with her. Perry dumped her and he was no great catch anyway, since he was twice divorced with five kids and paying alimony and child support through the nose. I kept my kept my kids, my house, my income, my retirement, I got Anne, and I am genuinely happy -- all in a community property state with no fault divorce.
If that's not "pro revenge", then I don't know what is.
TL;DR: Wife cheated and instead of divorcing her right away, I spent years putting her through additional schooling and taking over caring for our kids so that when I did divorce her in our community property, no fault state, she'd be paying me.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-medical-clinic-waitlist-project-1.7225944 The Rainbow Project includes registered nurses, a health navigator, a physician assistant and a family physician supporting the team.
"The nurses have taken a care-lead approach," said Jordan McPhee, a registered nurse on the team.
"We are able to assess and triage patients for a variety of different things and try and help create that care plan with them without necessarily having to book them with a physician."
Each day starts with a morning huddle, where team members meet up, with laptops in hand, and discuss the day's patients and how best to approach them.
Family physician Dr. Julie Croteau works with the team and consults on cases, but doesn't see every patient.

2024.06.07 15:41 Ok-Promotion-6703 The dark legacy of Chernobyl

After the war between Ukraine and Russia, Chernobyl was declared free, and the Ukrainian government rebuilt the nuclear power plant. This rejuvenated the country's energy resources significantly. However, an unexpected event transpired when a school from Greece visited Pripyat for an educational trip to learn about radiation, radioactivity, and nuclear materials.
On a clear Thursday in May, Agesilaus prepared eagerly for his school trip, packing essentials like food, his phone with an unlimited charger, clothes, sunglasses, and more. He wore black and white Nike Jordans, a black shirt, a smartwatch, black and white Adidas pants, a mask, and black gloves his mom gave him for protection against radioactivity. His best friend, Valantis, waited outside, dressed in colorful attire with Bluetooth headphones, red and purple Nike Jordans, a red and purple mask and gloves, a smartwatch, red pants, and a purple shirt.
"Bye mom, see you on Monday," Agesilaus said as he left.
"Bye son, have a great trip," his mom replied.
"Hey, you ready for today?" Valantis asked excitedly.
"Yes, man, let's go," Agesilaus responded.
At school, the teachers took attendance and the group set off for the countryside. Agesilaus and Valantis passed the time playing games on their phones, talking, and eating. Upon arrival, they noticed remnants of the war, including Russian bodies and tanks.
"Yo, look, some Russian tanks," Agesilaus pointed out.
"Yeah, right... wait, what? We have to walk to the station?" Valantis grumbled.
"Hello, kids! Welcome to the new nuclear power plant station," the manager greeted them. The group toured the plant, taking notes and learning about the reactors and machinery from the 1986 incident.
"Ok kids, a little way away is the private hotel we'll be staying at," the science teacher announced.
By 19:45, the kids were at the hotel, and after some time, it was lights out. The next day was filled with activities—playing in the city, eating at restaurants, and exploring the station. Agesilaus and Valantis were particularly fascinated by the reactors and the war remnants, laughing and chatting together.
At 16:00, they attended a presentation on the chemicals in the reactors and later waited for another on rocket science. While wandering around the reactors, they noticed sparks and sounds from the reactors.
"Bro, are those sparks coming out of the reactors?" Valantis noticed.
The control room detected a malfunction in all five reactors.
"Sir, we found a malfunction in every reactor, and it's pretty bad," an engineer reported.
"How bad?" the manager asked.
"The reactors are about to release significant radioactivity within five minutes. The kids must evacuate immediately," the engineer warned. The manager rushed to alert everyone, but small explosions blocked the doors, trapping Agesilaus and Valantis in the reactor room.
"No, no, no! We're going to be in trouble!" Valantis cried, and Agesilaus, also frightened, hugged his friend tightly as they faced their final moments together.
The reactors malfunctioned, creating a massive radioactive release. Three hours later, rescue teams from neighboring countries arrived but found no survivors except for Agesilaus and Valantis, who were miraculously still breathing. They were taken to a hospital in Kiev.
Agesilaus and Valantis awoke in separate capsules with heart monitors, confused but alive.
"Did we survive?" Agesilaus asked.
"Yes, but how?" Valantis responded.
A nurse entered the room, relieved to see them awake.
"Oh, great! You boys are awake. It's a miracle, isn't it?" she said.
"Our families are here to see you," the nurse added as their parents rushed in, speaking rapidly.
"Here, my son, your clothes are repaired," Agesilaus' mother said, handing him his black outfit.
"Here's yours, too, Valantis," his mother said, giving him his colorful clothes.
They changed and relaxed after their families left, eating hospital food, watching TV, and talking. Later, the nurse explained that the radioactivity had merged with other chemicals inside them, granting them unique abilities that would remain forever. Their reactions were subdued, and they soon went to sleep.
Around 3:25 AM, both boys experienced severe reactions and broke free from their capsules. They ran through the hospital in a confused state, alarming the staff and patients. The police were called, but the boys managed to leave the hospital undetected. They returned to Chernobyl, making it their new home.
A week later, their families visited the hospital, only to find the boys missing. They called the police, who arrived and were shocked at the scene. A detective found clues leading to Chernobyl and called in the special police organization of Ukraine.
Agesilaus and Valantis, now watching from the ruins of the nuclear plant, saw the special police approaching.
"Bro, the police are coming, and they have guns. It's the special organization police," Agesilaus noted.
"What should we do?" Valantis asked, worried.
"Remember the Russian soldiers' equipment? Their supplies are still there," Agesilaus reminded him.
"Yeah, I remember," Valantis replied.
"Okay, we get the supplies and hide in the abandoned buildings. When they leave the trucks, we can escape," Agesilaus planned. They armed themselves and hid.
The special police arrived and split up to search faster. Agesilaus and Valantis moved stealthily to another building.
"Steady..." Agesilaus focused and then fired, creating a distraction. Unfortunately, three policemen heard him, and Agesilaus ran to Valantis' building.
The policemen found Valantis and ordered him to surrender. Valantis, still affected by the radioactivity, reacted defensively, resulting in a struggle. Agesilaus intervened, and they managed to escape.
"We are immortal," Agesilaus said.
"Real-life slaughters," Valantis added.
Now, Chernobyl belonged to these two boys, and no one dared to approach the area again—not even the military. The once-reclaimed power plant had become a domain of mystery and resilience, with Agesilaus and Valantis reigning as its guardians.
Years passed, and the story of the haunted Chernobyl attracted a group of thrill-seeking Greek travelers. Alex, Sophia, Marco, and Elena, all experienced urban explorers, decided to enter the forbidden zone. They planned meticulously, ensuring they had all necessary gear, including trackers in case they got lost.
As they approached the deserted outskirts of Pripyat, they marveled at the eerie silence and overgrown vegetation. Despite the ominous warnings, they continued, driven by curiosity and the allure of uncovering the mysteries hidden within.
"This place gives me the creeps," Sophia whispered, her voice barely audible.
"That's why we're here," Alex replied, trying to sound confident. "We'll be the first to document the real story of Chernobyl."
Unbeknownst to them, Agesilaus and Valantis were watching their every move. The boys, now with heightened senses and abilities, sensed the intruders from miles away.
"Bro, we've got company," Agesilaus alerted Valantis.
"We can't let them expose us," Valantis responded. "Let's scare them off."
The travelers reached the heart of Chernobyl, unaware of the danger lurking. Suddenly, they heard footsteps echoing through the abandoned structures.
"Did you hear that?" Marco asked, his voice trembling.
"Probably just the wind," Elena said, trying to reassure herself.
The footsteps grew louder, and the travelers found themselves face to face with Agesilaus and Valantis. The boys, their eyes glowing with an unnatural light, blocked their path.
"This place is off-limits," Agesilaus said sternly. "Leave now, and you won't get hurt."
Alex, trying to be brave, stepped forward. "We're not here to cause trouble. We just want to explore and document the site."
Valantis shook his head. "You don't understand. This place is dangerous. For your own safety, leave."
But the travelers, driven by their ambition, refused to go. They pressed on, ignoring the warnings. As they ventured deeper into the ruins, the boys' patience wore thin.
Agesilaus and Valantis decided to take more drastic measures. Using their newfound abilities, they created illusions and manipulated the environment, making the travelers believe the site was haunted. Doors slammed shut, shadows moved, and eerie whispers filled the air.
Panicked, the travelers tried to escape, but every path they took led them back to the boys.
"This isn't possible," Marco shouted. "We're going in circles!"
Sophia, her voice shaking, added, "I think they're controlling this place."
Realizing they were trapped, the travelers attempted to use their devices to call for help. But Agesilaus and Valantis anticipated this. With a wave of their hands, they destroyed the trackers and communication devices, ensuring no one outside could locate them.
Desperation set in as the travelers understood the gravity of their situation. Alex, in a last-ditch effort, pleaded with the boys. "Please, let us go. We won't tell anyone. We swear."
But it was too late. The boys, now fully embracing their roles as guardians of Chernobyl, knew they couldn't risk exposure. In a final confrontation, Agesilaus and Valantis used their powers to subdue the travelers, ensuring they could never reveal what they had seen.
By dawn, the once-curious explorers were no more. The boys returned to their vigil over Chernobyl, ensuring it remained a place of mystery and fear. And as rumors spread about the missing travelers, the legend of the haunted Chernobyl grew, making them very famous in popularity about their legacy in Ukraine.

2024.06.07 15:31 PuzzleheadedHour9353 A Basket of Fish review of The Notebook at the Schoenfeld Theatre

It is worth acknowledging from the jump what many of you, my dear and indulging friends, suspect: my expectations for a Broadway adaptation of The Notebook (a movie I do not particularly like) with music from Ingrid Michaelson (a singer-songwriter whose work I do not particularly enjoy) were not, well, they weren’t particularly high. I was mostly interested in seeing it to celebrate a former collaborator, Jordan Tyson, who’s making her Broadway debut as Younger Allie.
When my parents announced they were coming to town, I knew just the show to recommend. Everything about the idea of a Broadway adaptation of The Notebook that caused me to approach it with eyebrow arched also makes it ideal My Parents Are Coming to the City material. And it is. The Notebook is indeed perfect fodder for the MPACttC crowd. That’s a backhanded compliment in many cases, but The Notebook also happens to be good.
I was more or less instantly charmed. Given the cast, I should have known. It’s hard to watch Dorian Harewood and not be charmed. Harewood, who plays Older Noah, and Maryann Plunkett (Older Allie) are both great actors, and it is a joy to watch them. The contemporary portions of The Notebook are set in the nursing home where Older Allie receives live-in care for advanced Alzheimer’s. Plunkett is remarkable, and exhausting to watch. I mean that as a compliment. I don’t know how she gives that performance eight times a week. It must be physically exhausting. Her Tony nomination is richly deserved.
I assume you know the story. So does the show, come to think of it. There are no attempts to couch anything in a twist, no reveals that a lesser adaptation might try to milk. We find things out as they happen. Perfect. Older Noah reads to Older Allie, his wife, from a mysterious notebook. We “learn” after a little while that the contents of the notebook are their story. I remember that being a bit more of a reveal in the movie version, but here the staging makes that more or less apparent from the start. Again, that’s fine. The Notebook isn’t interested in hiding that from you. The ultimate revelation about the notebook—if you know, you know—still hits, and it hits like a fucking truck.
The most interesting and inspired choice The Notebook makes is dividing both Allie and Noah into three flavors: Younger, Middle, and Older. Prior to seeing the show, I assumed that was a concession born out of practicality. I thought the show might jump back and forth too frequently to allow for aging or de-aging, whether through makeup or quick changes. Instead, the leads in triplicate are part of the conceptual fabric. Even if the idea started as a matter of practicality, the creative team has turned it into an inspired choice. The three eras don’t interact with one another, by which I mean they do not speak to one another, but they do create echoes. The various ages sing together, and spend much of the show on stage simultaneously.
Directors Michael Greif and Schele Williams make smart, tasteful use of the conceit. They never lean on it. This is a shockingly unsentimental show given what it could have been. One of my favorite moments, which comes during the absolutely tear-drenched finale—I have cried that hard in a theater only twice before—is when the Allies and Noahs kiss. The Olders are towards the back, the Middles in the middle, and the Youngers are right out front. It passed quickly, a moment content to be only an instant (treat the moment present as a present for the moment, indeed) and everyone goes their separate ways in the staging. That idea, that we are all of the versions of ourselves at any one moment, that to love someone is to love who you have been together and who you are and who you will be, it’s beautiful. I’m tearing up now thinking about it. The Notebook didn’t need to be this thoughtful.
I also have nothing but compliments for the book, which is sharp, funny, and expedient (Bekah Brunstetter earned that Tony nomination). The songs are where The Notebook struggles most. Individually, they are enjoyable, but as a score, they smear together. None of them make an impression, even if none of them offend. They are too similar. Joy Woods, who is phenomenal as Middle Allie, singlehandedly turns “My Days” into a great 11 o’clock number, but that was the only time I found myself getting lost in the music. The odd lyric jumps out here and there—Older Allie’s “I am in love with all of the things I forget” is wondrous—but there’s little to grab onto. With a better score, The Notebook might have a chance at entering the pantheon. I’m sure it will do just fine in any case.
One final thought before I go. In The Notebook, we get to see Harewood and Plunkett do something we don’t often get to see great older actors do: be people who are old. That phrasing is intentionally belabored. They aren’t playing Old People. Older Allie and Older Noah aren’t sagacious grandparents. Nor are they there to reflect on the younger characters around them. Though it would have assuredly wrecked me, The Notebook features nothing like Light in the Piazza’s “Let’s Walk,” a song about the passage of time framed around the behavior of The Kids These Days, and that’s as it should be. Allie and Noah are the narrative, in all three eras we see depicted. The Notebook gives equal time and weight and dignity to their experiences near the end of their lives as it does to those nearer the beginning. Older Noah’s flirtation with Older Allie is given the same energy as Younger with Younger. That is a kindness we do not normally see afforded in popular entertainment. I looked over at one point to notice my parents quietly holding hands. Who knows what memories they were sharing in that moment.

2024.06.07 13:59 RyanMorholt Forest Grove Settlers: First Week

Over the first week, the three brothers laboured intensively on their new home. When Duncan and his three grand-daughters had given them a rotting house, the men thought little of it. Aside from the fact that Audrey had kicked down the front door, the damaged building had all manner of gunk clinging to its ceiling and walls. The deceased feral ghoul in their living room hardly helped matters. Still, this rundown building belonged to them.
The first night had been relatively unpleasant. The three brothers pulled their bandanas over their mouth and nose and began to work. Simon took charge. He dragged the dead ghoul from the building after assigning duties to his brothers. Barrett pried open every door and window in building for air flow. He pulled apart the heavy boards that blocked the windows and broke down stubborn doors. Kevin, on the other hand, needed to sweep through the clutter of the house. Over the last two centuries, plenty of dust and garbage had gathered inside the building. Clearly, a few sets of squatters had found comfort within these walls and brought their filthy habits with them. Kevin moved room to room, cleaning out empty canisters of Jet and used syringes of Med-X. Once done with the biohazardous aspect of his work, he gathered the empty tin cans and spent candy wraps that littered the floors. Likewise, he swept away fragments of mirror and glass from the bathroom, bedroom, and other living spaces. His other brothers helped him finish the arduous task of tidying the residence for their use. Within an hour, the house seemed almost habitable.
After a solid evening of chores, they joined their hosts around a cozy campfire. While tensions remained high, Duncan and his grand-daughters – Morgan, Audrey, and Sylvia – made small talk with the three brothers, hoping that the meager allotment of food and drink would pacify any residual hard feelings from the tensions during the day.
When their meal concluded, the brothers thanked the old man and his grand-daughters for their hospitality and returned to their residence. Together, the three brothers spent the night in the master bedroom on the top floor, which seemed to them the least disgusting room to sleep within.
When the sun of the first new day broke, the brothers were startled awake by the sound of a chainsaw. Barrett made for his weapons and exited their house before either of his brothers left their bedrolls. Barrett, swinging his pipe pistol, encounter Duncan with a ripper, a small handheld chainsaw, cutting into some dead wood.
“Good morning,” Duncan said. Sawdust clung to his face and beard.
“What are you doing?” Barrett complained. He holstered his pipe pistol.
“It’s almost noon, boy. The ladies and I have finished most of our chores.”
When Barrett marched back to his brothers and encouraged them to double-down on their plans for the day. The three of them could not be bested by the efforts of a geriatric and three girls.
Simon agreed with Barrett, setting his sight on turning their new house into a new home.
Barrett, full of his proud bravado, led his brothers into the surrounding buildings to scavenge for useful material and furniture. Piece by piece, the brothers hauled off heavy chunks of wood and metal back to their home. The ladies, pretending to do small tasks, watched the brothers work. Morgan peaked from mending clothes to see Barrett haul staggering amounts of wood and metal by himself. She admired the young man’s strength from a far.
Discovering the former pub down the street, the brothers stripped most of its furniture. From old metal tables to damaged booth seats, they took it all to furnish their new home. Still unsatisfied, Barrett decided to redesign the plan of the house. The original front door, which Audrey had kicked down, had faced a barely useable asphalt road. It had no use to them. Instead, Barrett wanted to create a new doorway which would allow them to move toward the Ducan’s home with greater ease. Barrett borrowed a sledgehammer from Duncan and knocked down a new doorway around the back. With that done, the house needed to be fortified from the outside. He convinced Kevin to join him for an additional expedition. The two of them went back to the military checkpoint and salvaged the metal exteriors from the cars and trucks that rusted on the side of the road. With these metal parts, Barrett fortified the exterior of the house and blocked the original entrance way.
Simon, becoming irritated at his brother’s homemaking zeal, turned himself to practical matters. His used the material they had to build a simple firepit in the middle of their home using a hubcap, a bent sheet of metal, and the bricks knocked from the wall. This firepit would allow them to keep warm during the cold season, and, for the time being, smoke out the house. He hoped that the smoke would make the old house smell more pleasant, and keep mosquitoes and other bugs away from them as they slept. Then, Simon moved to more practical matters.
While Duncan and his grand-daughters had a simple water purifier outside of their home, Simon made sure it had a constant supply water to process. With seven people residing in this small riverside settlement, they would need more water. Simon tasked himself with creating a duplicate water purifier for their needs.
On the second day, Duncan remarked about the communial food stores. If the boys wanted to stay, they could. In his estimation, they were hard-workers, and where hard-work abounds so does honesty. Still, feeding himself and three young women required substantially less effort than feeding an additional four men.
“Four?” Barrett asked him.
“Yeah, you eat for two,” Duncan replied with a gentlemanly tease.
Barrett hated the comment. Once again, he roped Kevin into one of his schemes. Before the night was done, the two of them had shot and killed a radstag. Duncan then taught the boys how to skin the creature properly to acquire best buckskin for resale or tanning. Once the radstag had been skinned and cleaned, Duncan handed the carcass to his grand-daughters to cook.
At the end of the second day, the whole community feasted. While still uncomfortable with each other, the initial mistrust faded. As words were exchanged, Duncan noticed the small looks Morgan flashed to Barrett, and the attention Syliva gave to Kevin. Kevin, charming in his silence, spent the night carving wood with his switchblade.
On the third day, the men woke at the same time as the others and joined them in their morning routines. They breakfasted as a single unit and broke into small detachments. Kevin joined Morgan and Sylvia as they went to water their crops. Simon helped Duncan carry water back to the purifiers. Only Audrey and Barrett refused to work with each other. Barrett had decided that he wanted to create a semi-fortified perimeter around both of the homes in case of an attack. Audrey, thinking the idea folly, walked along the river, searching for mutated fern flowers.
“Why does she collect them?” Simon asked Duncan on their way back.
“Ah, that’s a longer story than you know,” the old man replied. “In short, because we can turn those flowers into Rad-X and Radway. Useful for trade, or…” Duncan never finished his sentence. He stopped speaking and spent time among distance memories.
“Speaking of trades,” Simon said, nudging his head to someone approaching their homes.
Duncan snapped from his day-dreaming.
“Raiders!” Duncan’s shouted carried over the hill.
The approaching man swung his hunting rifle to their direction and fired blindly. The crack of his gun alerted his three squad mates to combat. The raiders turned hostile. Their hoots and hollers echoed into the settlement.
Duncan and Simon dropped themselves behind the heap of scrap metal Barrett prepared for his fortifications. Another shot came from the raider’s hunting rifle. It missed the two men by a large margin.
“Got your pistol?” Simon asked.
“Yeah.” Duncan racked his 10mm. “Ready?”
“I left mine inside.”
“For crying out loud!”
Before Duncan reprimanded Simon, he watched Audrey sprint from the river toward their homes.
“Get cover!” Duncan yelled at her.
Audrey dodged behind a distant dilapidated house. She also lacked a weapon.
“Why is everyone unarmed!” Duncan peered around the side of the scrapheap, only to receive a face full of dirt from an ill-aimed shot. “Argh!”
Bursts of fire came from their left. Barrett shouted from his position. He ran toward his brother and the old man, using the sides of his house for cover.
“What are you guys doing!” Barrett shouted. “Come on!”
The big man peered from his cover and fired several shots from his pipe rifle. A raider yowled in pain. One of Barrett’s bullets made vicious contact.
“I forgot my pistol!” Simon yelled back to his brother.
“Don’t tell them that!”
Barrett looked from his position. One of the raiders sat upon the dirt gripping the side of his body. One of his squad mates crouched tried to staunch the bleeding.
Barrett unloaded at the two of them. His bullets savagely pierced them.
Under the cover of fire, Audrey crept into her house. She searched for her tactical submachine gun and joined the fray. Of the three women, she definitely possessed the most spirit. When she emerged from the house, however, the other two raiders disappeared from view. Barrett moved around the house and to the other road. He saw no one.
Duncan pulled himself to his feet and ran to Audrey. With their weapons out, they moved as a two-person firing team.
Simon swiftly entered his own home and seized his pipe pistol. He only had a few rounds in it. Then, he heard a flurry of shots and a woman scream.
“Morgan!” Barrett’s voice boomed over the settlement.
Simon ran into the road to witness a cloud of concrete dust snowing onto the ground. Kevin and Sylvia had dragged Morgan behind an abandoned house. Sylvia bawled hysterically.
Barrett ran to the group without thinking.
“Gotcha!” a snarled voice called from higher ground. The raider scum’s pipe revolver erupted with a flash. The bullet struck Barrett in the leg as he ran. Red mist sprang from his thighs. He fell to the ground.
“Barrett!” Simon shouted. From his position, he unloaded his entire pistol at the raider who had shot his brother. The raider scum collapsed with a curse in his mouth.
Simon looked to his fallen brother. The large man pulled himself toward the concrete barrier that had been hit only moments prior. From the corner of his eye, Simon spotted movement. The last raider, a female in raider leathers, fired a double-barreled shotgun. More concrete erupted into the air. Sylvia shouted louder into the air.
Simon took aim and pulled the trigger.
It clicked empty.
The raider noticed Simon.
“You havin' fun? Huh? I can do this all day!” She cracked open her double-barrelled shotgun and reloaded two shells. The moment her shotgun clacked closed, she fell to the ground with a scream.
Duncan stood behind the woman -- his pistol still smoking from its shot. He approached the wounded raider before she had a chance to reach her shotgun. He fired a shot into the woman’s skull.
Audrey, who had been at Duncan’s side, ignored the execution. Instead, she ran to the concrete barrier.
“Morgan, is she alive?”
Sylvia, who continued to cry, found refuge in Kevin’s arms. The youngest of the three sisters babbled incomprehensibly behind her tears.
“She’s fine,” Barrett said with a grunt. He pressed his dirty fingers against his leg wound, but it beld profusely. Morgan scrambled beside him and examined the injury.
“I’m so sorry,” she said. Her eyes, a crystal blue, filled with a thin film of tears. She was the oldest of the three sisters, but spoke the least. She felt responsible for everyone and everything that happened on the settlement.
“It’s okay,” Barrett said with a gritted smile. He admired the colour of her eyes and the long black hair that framed her face.
“I’ll get the medical bag,” Audrey said, leaving the group behind.
Simon took the lead.
“Kevin, take Sylvia home and keep her there. Morgan, when Audrey comes back, do you think you can tend his wounds?”
“Yes, of course.”
“Good,” Simon said. “When you’re done, find me and I’ll help bring him to ours.” He left the couple and approached Duncan, who stood above the dead body of the raider Simon shot ded.
“What’s the injury?” Duncan asked, his eyes scanning the raider for signs of life.
“Barrett’s got a leg wound, a graze -- .45 by the looks of it,” Simon said, picking up the raider’s pipe revolver.
“He’ll make it?”
“If your girls can nurse him to health.”
Duncan turned his gaze to Simon.
“He’ll be fine. We got a stimpak that I’ve been saving. Your brother does a lot of work around here. He’ll be okay.”
“I appreciate it,” Simon replied.
“Help me with them, will you?”
Simon and Duncan spent the next few moments looting and stripping the raiders down to their undergarments. They gathered the four bodies and left them by the side of the road.
“Tomorrow, we’ll bring them to the graveyard,” said Duncan. At this point, night had fallen. Everyone gathered around the large firepit that the sisters had made on the first night these two families came together. Around the blazing fire, built from the wood Duncan had cut, they ate leftover radstag.
Simon sat between Duncan and Kevin. Kevin hardly spoke to his brother. Instead, he whittled a skewer from a piece of wood as Sylvia leaned on is shoulder. She had regained her composure, but still rattled from the day’s events. Similarly, Morgan sat beside Barrett. She kept a slight gap between them, but when Barrett stretched his bandage leg and adjusted his hand on the log upon which he sat, she allowed her fingers to touch his hand.
Only Audrey sat alone. She leaned forward on her knees and looked into the campfire. She thought quietly.
“You have a graveyard?” Simon asked.
“We do,” Duncan replied. “It’s where my wife is buried.”
At those words, Audrey left the circle.
“Ignore her,” Duncan continued, “the wound runs deep.”
“What happened to her? Your wife, I mean.”
“Radiation sickness. It’s why we decided to settle at Forest Grove.”
Duncan poked the fire with a large stick.
“She and I wandered the Commonwealth, trading minor goods and enjoying a simple life. Total freedom. We survived a lot together. A lot.”
Duncan sighed. Kevin paused his whittling and looked to the old man. Morgan, knowing the story well, ignored everything and shifted closer to Barrett.
“The effects of the Wasteland proved too much for her in the end. It’s why Audrey gathers those fern flowers. When the four of us got here, we tried making as much Radaway as we could from those flowers, but it wasn’t enough. She had probably hit a lethal dose a week or two prior to her death. The treatment came too late.”
Duncan stopped talking. Privately, he recalled his wife’s upswell of nausea, which disappeared as suddenly as it started. Then, slowly, the textbook symptoms came. Her appetite reduced into nothingness, as her gums began to bleed and her hair fell in clumps. Her skin, once radiant with health, turned a sicky pallor. Bruises spontaneously appeared on her body. Duncan exchanged a quick glance with Kevin. The boy immediately turned back to his whittling.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Simon said.
Barrett interrupted the moment of pathos.
“You said the four of you. But there’s five.”
Duncan turned his greying head to Barrett. His eyes flicked over the big man’s hands wrapped around one of his grand-daughters.
“Aye,” Duncan said, his voice not any happier. “My son and Audrey.”
“Your son?” Simon asked.
“Long gone. Left us after his mother died. I have not heard from him in a long, long time. Probably dead, but I have my hopes.”
Duncan released a heavy sigh. He stood from his spot.
“I should check on Audrey,” he said. The old man walked into the darkness.
“It’s why we gather hubflowers,” Sylvia said softly. “They were her favourite.”
“We’ll pick some tomorrow,” Kevin said. “We’ll leave them on her grave.”
Simon nodded his head, looking at the tender happiness upon the faces of his brothers. He felt his heart ache and decided to leave the circle. His brothers could enjoy their new found lovers.
Simon walked home and thought only of Audrey.

2024.06.07 13:57 RyanMorholt Forest Grove Settlers: First Week

2024.06.07 12:11 LeadingThePack Research placement

Hello everyone! I’m hoping for some advice or suggestions. I’m an adult nursing student and am currently on my last placement of second year.
I have been assigned to a research team for my placement. What the team do is very interesting and seems demanding and busy but quite a lot of their role is admin based. I feel like I’ve spent the past few weeks watching people read their emails. On the off chance that there is a patient to see then I’m only allowed to watch whilst they take bloods/do assessments etc.
I’m worried that I’m not gaining any skills/experience from this placement. I don’t want to be rude or seem like I’m not grateful for the opportunity but the nurses are often too busy with their admin work to explain things to me.
I’ve asked for some spoke experiences and the manager said they’d try and sort some days here and there but they want me to spend the majority of my time with the research team.
Does anyone have any advice for how to get the most out of this placement? Or do I just need to try and be more positive and grateful? Thanks so much.

2024.06.07 10:30 OppositeOk8280 Entitled Co Worker

I'm a new hire working in activities in a nursing home. I've been here a month. Within a month, a co worker training me quit my third day. The star employee left a few weeks prior because of this employee. A staff from another department joins activities. This staff has a history of disappearing during their shift. I felt like my job was easier when I was solo. Now we're fully staffed and I'm constantly left alone while they all do side tasks. I can manage fine but what becoming frustrating is the co worker who does absolutely nothing and disappears all the time. Has gotten into a habit of lecturing me on how to my job. When I have prior health care experience as an nursing assistant. Since management lets them get away with everything. This co worker thinks that they know everything. In a short time span, I've built my own relationship with the patients and their families. It just would be nice if I had some relief during task. Instead, my boss lets co worker say and do whatever they please. When everyone in the building is aware that they do nothing. I was at my with ends and started making petty remarks when this co worker has literally nice to say about anyone. Will literally take up all the air in a room. It's basically a one sided conversation with this co worker. There's no getting a word in. Several people have left the nursing home since ive started. It's trying to get back in good graces with the state. It's very unorganized and lacks any real leadership. However, I'm thriving in its chaos. I just feel like all my hard work is being overshadowed by someone who does nothing yet has everything to say about everyone else. It's also very clique, I'm feeling intentionally being left of out of things. I don't do cliques but this feels intentional. We're suppose to be a "team". This job has great flexibility and but could definitely pay more. Several staff have pointed out that I'm constantly left alone without any help. I'm drained when my day is over. Activities for this place pretty much help all departments. For the most part is easy job but feeling unsupported is making it exhausting. Also now that the star employee is back, I've put on the back burner now that the favorite employee is back. It's frustrating but a rewarding job. Putting a smile on a patient's face makes it all worth it. The irony is I had someone from a another department say to me unprovoked. I wouldn't hang around them if I were you. It's like they picked up on their energy. Could see what I dealing with from a mile away.

Alcohol can cause breast cancer, but most women in the US aren’t aware of the health risks

Did you know that casual drinks with friends or having a “wine mom” moment to unwind could actually be nudging up your risk for breast cancer? It sounds like a buzzkill. But it’s a truth that many might not know: Alcohol actually causes breast cancer. The World Health Organization and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism lay it out pretty clearly: Compared to those who don’t drink, just one drink a day can bump up your breast cancer risk by 5% to 9%. As alcohol and cancer researchers,

Younger children are more commonly diagnosed with ADHD than their older classmates, says new study

New research, led by experts at the University of Nottingham, has found that teachers may be attributing signs of age-related immaturity in children, to conditions such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The results of the study, which are published in the journal European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, showed that the youngest students in a class, with birth dates just before the school entry cut-off date, were overrepresented among children receiving an ADHD diagnosis or medication for the condition. Experts looked at

Gender-specific social factors may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease

Differences in social factors that may reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk for men and women have been identified by Monash University-led research using a field of artificial intelligence (AI). Published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, researchers employed machine learning (ML) algorithms to pinpoint key predictors of CVD from a set of 25 social factors. The study found that being married/partnered, or having social support from others, was associated with a reduced risk of CVD for men and women. For men, activities like playing chess or cards, having

2024.06.07 08:39 Harlzz11 End of Year Kickball Game Was Too Much (Middle School)

Man, Today was such a day.
Another teacher reached out to me today asking if I wanted to play Kickball class vs class for every period. Given that we are both young male coaches for different sports at our middle school it sounded like a wonderful idea. Promotion was the day before, this would be our last full day as Friday is a half day. We decided to take our game to the overgrown baseball field on campus after clearing with Admin, and PE, and for the first 6 periods it was great! Kids in both classes were having fun, It was quite competitive and even the reluctant girl players were super into getting a kick. We even had a crowd of kids at lunch time who wanted to do their own game.
Until 7th period. My Co-teacher told me ahead of time this was his worst period and he was excited to have them outside. It was a bit more rowdy, kids were chirping at one another on both sides, but it didn't get too bad until one of his students decided to hump another kid, yell "Fuck you" multiple times and then cussed out his teacher in the span of like 5 minutes. He refused to be sent to the office, so I told the teams the game was over and to head back to class unless the little shit would leave the field. Eventually the peer pressure set in and a wandering Principal happened to come to the field and was able to help out. Co teacher goes to unlock his class (right next to the field) so he can get his stuff.
Little shit gets his bag, and then proceeds to run out the front gate and starts heading home.
The kickball teams go crazy cheering him on. Principal and a campus supervisor are chasing after him as he runs out the parking lot and up a hill behind the field where there are some family homes. They don't catch him.
Normally, we would have ended the game right then and there but my team was batting and we were only down 1 with like 20 minutes left in the period so we decide to continue. 10 minutes later another kid points out some people coming back down the hill.
The little turd was being half dragged back to school by his mom who was tearing him apart on the way. She takes him back onto campus and meets up with the principal and they both disappear into the office. No kid was cheering anymore.
TLDR: Kid runs home from school after getting ejected from Kickball game. Mom brings him back 10 minutes later lighting him up along the way
