This is the work of many apes. Thank you, all of you for sharing this info with me! Extra shout out to u/da_squirrel_monkey, u/Working-Yesterday243 and u/PutPsychological8698. It's like a wiki, so please let me know if anything is incorrect or outdated. And share your experiences with brokers!

DRS FAQs

1. What can I do if my broker cannot transfer using DRS? Some brokers won't allow DRS transfers, but they might allow broker to broker transfers. If that's the case, you could transfer from your current broker to an international broker such as TradeStation, XTB or IBKR, then ComputerShare. If you want to do more, you can complain about this to your country's Financial ArbitratoOmbudsman. Here's the list of Eurpoean Financial Arbitrators.
2. My broker doesn't know what a DRS transfer is, now what? Use these 3 points to help your broker understand: 1. Ask specifically for a DRS transfer to ComputerShare US and to check with their back office about this. 2. Remind them that ComputerShare is a transfer agent and not a broker, so they cannot initiate the transfer. 3. Tell them it needs to be a DTC W/T Transmission. (W/T means Withdrawal by Transfer!)
3. My DRS transfer is taking forever what should I say? Here's how to Karen them into doing their job.
4. Is there a way to get a share from any country in the world, without using a broker? Anyone Can use Give A Share. Or if you have a friend with shares in ComputerShare, they can gift you a share to get your account set up
5. How do I DRS GS2C shares? IBKR have stopped converting GS2C into GME. If you're in Germany Postbank is still offering this service for โ‚ฌ50.
6. Can I speed up the snail mail / delivery times? If your account has less than 10 shares Computershare can provide your account number over the phone, skipping the need for the first letter (otherwise you can expedite the first letter for $45). The second letter with the verification code can be sped up for a fee of $30, they will send you an email with the pin within 48 hours.
7. How do I call ComputerShare? Here are ComputerShare's GME specific numbers: In the US you can call toll free on 800 522 6645. If you are oustide of the US: ComputerShare have made a free phone number for GME! The number is: + 800 3823 3823. Most EU countries can call this number, the full list can be found in the ComputerShare FAQ. It's the 5th FAQ down. If your country is not on that list, you can use a Skype free trial or a similar web calling platform.
8. How Should I register my shares after I have my ComputerShare account? Both plan and book shares are removed from the DTC. But plan shares are held with ComputerShare and can allow fractionals for that reason. Book shares are held in your name only. If you want to convert your plan shares to book them, follow this guide from u/thewwwyzzardd.

AUSSIE SUPERANNUATIONS

Check the post by u/thomascullenok. It provides a step by step guide on how you can use your Superannuation to buy and DRS GME shares.

US LLCs

Check u/marco_esquandolass's post in the DD sub about how they're creating liability protection for themselves by DRSing with a LLC in their name.
See how u/lalich is using Madison Trust to open an IRA using an LLC in thier name. Their post is on the other subs.

US IRAs

Can I DRS with an IRA Account? Yes, you can either move the shares from the IRA into a regular cash account (causing a taxable event), or go to a non-broker custodian and DRS with them. You must have a 3rd party IRA custodian for all IRA accounts. Computershare does not offer custodian services for GME shares.
Will DRSing my IRA create a taxable event? It will not as long as you are transfering to an in kind account (from IRA to IRA). Or if you bought your shares with your ROTH IRA contributions, you can withdraw the contribution at any time. It's only the earnings on the contribution that is subject to early-withdrawal tax penalty. You can also use the Roth rollover solution (links below). Please note that transferred shares from the Roth IRA will receive a new cost basis (based on market close) and the holding period will reset (the timer for long term capital gains starts over). According to Fidelity this is IRS law. (Thank you u/boskle!) Calculate how much tax you'd need to pay with this IRS tax calculator.
Are DRS'd IRA shares removed from the DTCC? The shares are removed from the DTCC, but the bank/custodian still has control over the shares. Because of this some apes have taken the tax hit.
Which IRA Provider can I DRS with and how? It seems like a Local Credit Union or any non-broker custodian is your best bet. (list of reputable custodians here):
  1. Traditional/Roth IRA Rollover Solution Follow u/Existing-Reference53's guide in 2 parts Part 1 Part 2
  2. Mainstar Follow u/winebutch's guide on the other sub
  3. IRA Finanical Trust
  4. Horizon Trust They use a tiered fee schedule based on account value, so it can get pricey
  5. Millennium Trust Check u/TheFrenchestToast's post about them
  6. Camaplan also might be a bit more costly
  7. Pacific Premier Trust check this post for the 3 way call solution
  8. Madison Trust See above where u/lalich opened a LLC IRA to keep the shares in their own name
According to u/6t8fbird's post: An EIN is required for transferring your IRA shares to Computershare. This makes you the custodian of your IRA.

2019.04.06 06:46 gruso I asked all the banks what they thought of giving Pocketbook access to your accounts

Following a thread about expense tracking apps last week, I got curious about Pocketbook's automation feature that requires you to hand over your bank login details. This is a Bad Idea by any measure. Pocketbook has a list of supported banks, so I set about contacting each of those banks to see how mutual the support was.
Most contact was made via their Facebook support teams, with a few talks via phone, email or live chat. I am still waiting to hear back from a handful of them, and will update the table when I do.
Note: This is not an attempted takedown of Pocketbook, which by all accounts is a very reputable and popular app. It's just a look at the banks' take on one particular feature, which is not mandatory to use (as you can just download your transaction data and load it manually). The cautions herein can be applied to any expense tracking app, micro-investing apps that have a roundup function, and also Poli payments.
Screenshot of table for mobile users: https://i.imgur.com/UcamQ6B.png
Bank Supported Statement
Macquarie Bank Yes I was told via a return phone call that Pocketbook is officially supported. The service rep was not highly technical, but this article confirms Mac bank's API support for Pocketbook. This means the app gets its own unique code for access, and you don't have to give it your bank login.
Bank of Queensland Yes "Yes Pocketbook is supported, however you need to have internet banking. What you need to do in internet banking, is set up a user ID for pocketbook." (It sounds as if BoQ allows you to set up a separate read-only login).
Bendigo Bank Yes-ish I was told over the phone that it works, but they advise against sharing login credentials.
Beyond Bank Yes-ish "It is not officially supported, however it has previously been confirmed to work. It will request that you log into your Internet Banking and will then use this to access the account information." (I don't feel like this was a very strong endorsement, or a guarantee of protections.)
Teachers Mutual Bank Yes-ish "We generally don't support any third party apps and advise against putting banking credentials into any third party apps. However, it is up to you whether or not you would like to utilise."
AMEX No I was told via live chat that Pocketbook is not supported.
ANZ No "We donโ€™t endorse or recommend the use of third party software or websites to access ANZ Internet Banking. This is due to the risk of providing your customer registration number and Password to a third party who may not have the same security as ANZ therefore potentially exposing your personal details."
Commonwealth No "We do not endorse using this product, please do not disclose your netbank client number and password to any third party."
National Australia Bank No "With Pocketbook you would need to log into the App using your Internet Banking details - We do not recommend providing your log in details to a third party, and must advise if you do so you may be liable for any fraudulent transactions that occur"
Westpac No "The Westpac Group does not have a working agreement with Pocketbook, and does not endorse or recommend the use of third party software or password managers that store log-in credentials."
Bank of Melbourne No "The Westpac Group, including Bank of Melbourne, does not have a working agreement with Pocketbook, and doesn't endorse or recommend the use of third party software or password managers that store log-in credentials. "
BankSA No "The Westpac Group, including BanSA, does not have a working agreement with Pocketbook, and doesn't endorse or recommend the use of third party software or password managers that store log-in credentials."
Bankwest No "We don't support Pocketbook or any other third parties that request your online banking log in details to access your information I'm sorry. Providing a third party your PAN and secure code is a breach of our account access terms and conditions and in turn removes your protection under our No Loss Security Guarantee. "
CUA No "CUA does not support any 3rd party system that accesses members details (as Pocketbook does), and it is considered a violation of CUA's terms and conditions to use them."
IMB Bank No "We do not support them."
ING Direct No "We don't officially support Pocketbook. ING do not endorse, promote or authorize the use of account aggregation services. We don't recommend providing your access code to a third party under any circumstances, if you do you may be liable for unauthorized transactions."
St George No "St.George does not have a working agreement with Pocketbook, and does not endorse or recommend the use of third party software or password managers that store log-in credentials. "
UBank No "Our site and products aren't compatible with any third party programs or apps. This would also be a breach of our Terms & Conditions. If you wish to review your accounts or transactions, you'll need to login to our website or UBank app manually."
CitiBank No "Citi does not officially support Pocketbook, nor are we affiliated with the app. No API access is provided, and Citi customers who did want to use the Pocketbook app would have to provide their credentials to enable the third party to download information ... Please note that if you decide to provide your credentials, you would be doing so at your own risk."
ME Bank No "We do not endorse or authorise the use of account aggregation services in connection with your account ... Please remember that if you break your agreement with us not to disclose your PIN to another person, you will be liable for any transactions on your account made using your PIN. There is also a risk that information about your account obtained by an account aggregation service provider or its employees may be misused."
Coles Mastercard TBC Honestly, I gave up trying to get through their automated phone system.
28 Degrees TBC Reply not received
HSBC TBC Reply not received
Suncorp TBC Reply not received
Takeaways:
  • Macquarie Bank and Bank of Queensland are the only two that offer a full endorsement of the app, each using their own method that doesn't require your primary bank login.
  • With all the other banks, your only guarantee of safety is to load your data manually. Even if Pocketbook is 100% safe and never causes a problem, if you get defrauded via other avenues and the bank finds out you shared your login, they may deny you compensation.
  • It's interesting that the Westpac Group is also against password managers. If you're using one, maybe not a good idea to disclose it to them.
(Thank you for the gold, stranger!)
8/4/2019: ME Bank response added
10/4/2019: CitiBank response added
15/4/2019: Guess I'm not getting the missing responses

2018.09.23 05:35 BrianQQ [New Payments Platform, Osko & PayID] General FAQ and Discussion

Bank Support Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qq-QlZEp-HbX6eXAH5TMtHnZVN8rhAi6xBGGNFXRb9U/edit?usp=sharing

What is the New Payments Platform?
The New Payments Platform is a new banking infrastructure in Australia which had its initial rollout (Round #1) in February 2018.
What is Osko and PayID?
Do I need a PayID to make and receive Osko transfers?
Absolutely not most of the time (one bank is completely opposite). Cuscal institutions, Bankwest (slowly rolling out), ANZ, Westpac and NAB allow Osko transfers to a normal BSB and account number. As long as your financial institute supports the New Payment Platform, you should be a-ok.
For Westpac users, you will need to have the PayID functionality readily available in order to make Osko transfers. (This does not mean that you need to create a PayID). If you do not have the ability to create a PayID, you will need to wait as Westpac is taking a dumb approach to rolling the system out.
Limitations on Osko/STC/PayID?
Each bank has their own limitations on Osko and PayID, these can been seen on the spreadsheet above.
Usually limitations include -
Can I make reoccurring/future Osko transfers?
Only three banks allow this functionality at the moment. Bendigo Bank, BankVic and Bank of us allow for future Osko transfers. These are usually sent at 6am- 7am.
Why is "____" bank not available?
Your bank has opted in to a Round 2 rollout. There is currently no date for a Round 2 release rather than late 2018/early 2019. These banks are currently speculated to be in the Round 2 rollout.
If you guys got any more questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
