Facebook has countless science based pages. But this isn't about those, it's about the science denying pseudo-intellectuals who think they know better than centuries of scientific understanding and aren't afraid to leave comments arguing even the most simple of concepts. Theories? Evidence? Experiments? Reputable scientific methods have no place here. This is the school of "My mate in the pub says".

2024.06.09 13:22 hannahhunny Does this ‘tactic’ have a name?

Often when my partner and I get into a heated fight I will announce that I need a break and remove myself from the room. My anxiety goes through the roof when I am being yelled at and no matter how many times I request that we use normal voices and avoid yelling I am told that is an unreasonable request. It isn’t uncommon for these fights to happen or last deep into the night and early morning hours as well which only heightens my sensitivity to loud noises. When I remove myself and go into another room my partner will do all or some of the following things: Yell my name over and over again no matter how many times I request to be left alone. Follow me around the house throwing doors open behind me. Blocking my path to other rooms. Blaring loud music on and off controlling the speakers in whatever room I am in. Repeatedly triggering find my iphone on my phone. Shutting off the internet. And if I am not able to lock the doors he will stand in the same room as me and continuously demean my emotional intelligence, question my commitment, tell me how selfish I am etc etc etc.
Is there a name for this kind of behavior? If there is any way that I could sum it up, he is relentless and will go to any lengths to get me to re-engage in a fight without respecting boundaries on volume or allowing time to cool off. I would like to know if there is a name for this type of behavior or anything you can tell me so that I can better arm myself against it.

2024.06.09 13:20 guiltyofnothing “You are what is wrong with society. Again, it is advisable that you the seek the psychiatric help that you require.” /r/bingingwithbabish boils over a new paywall and a creator’s apology

The Context:

Andrew Rea is a cook, YouTuber, and author better known as Babish, famous for his cooking series Binging with Babish.
Recently, it was announced that Babish will be introducing a paywall for some new content. In addition, old websites with previously-free content were shuttered.
Babish has also come under fire for his sponsorships, with particular criticism over his promotion of the video game Hogwarts Legacy, considering the recent controversial statements from the series’ author JK Rowling.
Our drama starts as Babish himself takes to the sub to issue an apology for the rollout of the changes, attempting to justify and lay out the reasoning behind them.
While many are receptive to his explanation and find it sincere, others are not so ready to accept…

The Drama:

One user defends the criticism:
TL;DR: you're getting a lot of criticsm for your shitty business decisions, so you're playing the mental health card to turn down the heat.
Look, I'm sorry you're going through a rough patch, and I'm sorry you've gone through the things you have. But forgive me if I find it hard to shed a tear for you.
You can't expect a huge outpouring of sympathy for your mental health, and then turn around and push Betterhelp and a crypto gambling game. Those are both products that prey on your audience's mental well-being. So we're supposed to care about your mental health but you don't give a fuck about ours? Explain that one to me. As for the paywall, I don't care that much, but it's shitty that you didn't tell people it was going up beforehand.
I’m not emotionally equipped to be a public figure.
Should have thought of that before making your face the logo of your company.
Do you enjoy being an awful person?
His struggles are fairly well documented, personally, well before any of this happened
Just take 12 seconds and consider maybe this was an oversight?
It’s not like he’s fucking Brad Pitt with a team of 87 managers and PR folks. I’m sure he’s got a manager, but do you really think he’s got the same pull as an a-list actor to catch every small failure?
He’s a fucking YouTuber - a great one, in my opinion, but a YouTuber nonetheless. Humans make mistakes when they don’t have 36 people checking every ounce of their work.
Give him a little grace and maybe give everyone in your life a little. It’s not all a conspiracy, sometimes people just fuck up.
Do you enjoy not reading my comment? Yes, his mental health struggles are well documented. That's why I acknowledged them.
I'm not talking about the paywall. I'm talking about how he wants everyone to care about his mental health, but has said absolutely nothing in regards to the shitty predatory sponsors. And I'm not talking about his shitty "sorry you feel that way" post on YouTube and taking the video down. He can't just say "sorry, mental health" while ignoring the harm he's helped cause by not being selective about who he takes money from.
Oh fuck off you miserable nerd, if you don’t like how he makes money, you don’t have to participate or consume the content.
If you’re going to keep being salty about this despite an apology and a way to access the old websites then I suggest you look inward.
Read my comment again, I'm not angry about the paywall.
Sure.
Read my fucking comment again, asswipe.
[Continued:]
Did you change it?
If not, I'll pass on reading your angry rantings again. Theu weren't worth the first read through.
No, I didn't. Because I already said it's not about the paywall, dipshit.
Theu weren't worth the first read through.
Still worth it enough for you to respond and be an asshole though, I guess.
Edit: get blocked, douche.
Paywall paywall paywall.
You are obsessed.
I feel so sorry for you content creator dick riders lol
[…]
You’re acting like he owes you something. He doesn’t. We live in a different world now where companies are just faceless businesses anymore, and a lot of the things we consume are the product of single people or small teams. As a result, individual proclivities and issues are part of the new normal. If you have an issue with it; unsubscribe.
Yeah, he owes ot to us not hawk predatory sponsors and then expect everyone to give him a hug when he has mental health issues. But fuck me, I guess. Maybe I should make a post about how I've been struggling with depression my entire life so this sub can forgive me for daring to not give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek for it.
live in a different world now where companies are just faceless businesses anymore
It's a real shame he built his company off of his character and used his own face as its logo.
If you have an issue with it; unsubscribe.
Believe me, I will. I guess I thought when he finally apologized for his shitty business practices that he'd actually apologize, instead of ignoring the sponsorship stuff all together. I thought he was better than this.
Others stand to defend Babish:
Great job folks. You bullied this nice dude who has given you hundreds of hours of free labor.
If were being real he saw the post on mildly infuriating and made a whole ass response, which is insecure as fuck .
Also this is a post where hes admitting hes at fault and yall are telling him “no” which is funny as shit.
It’s “insecure as fuck” to address widespread criticism openly and honestly?
one guy saying bad things about you shouldn’t make you wanna write out a giant reddit post defending yourself yeah.
Who needs to be liked THAT much?
Not one guy, it was widespread backlash on multiple subreddits and from like all his fans. It would have been ridiculous not to respond
Criticism over shitty business practices (shilling products designed to prey on the mental wellbeing of your audience and introducing paywalls with no notice) isn't the same as bullying.
I mean grow up. You have no right to his labor. None at all. Notice? What is this, you're upset about his terms of service? Lol.
Babish isn't gonna fuck you, bro.
"I have no point but I have a funny"
[Continued:]
What point could I make that wasn't already addressed in my response to this parasocial weiner?
Babish made some shitty business decisions, people criticized them. That's not bullying. When people complain about McDonald's discontinuing a menue item, you never see people say "stop bullying the CEO :(". So why is it suddenly bullying when criticism is directed at a YouTuber for their shitty business practices? Yes, Andrew is a person. But that doesn't mean he's immune to complaints just because some parasocial crybaby thinks telling a person to do better constitutes "bullying".
Except if you read the comments on some of the posts people absolutely went well beyond criticism of the business decision to personal insults and vitriol that could indeed accurately be described as “bullying”.
Fair enough, but they made a general comment about how this sub bullied him, not just a few shitheels who took it too far.
cool but that wasn't what the person you told to "grow up" was doing, so why don't you stop huffing your own farts for a minute
I didn’t tell anyone anything? What are you talking about?
whoops, thought you were the OP in this thread, not just a random interjection like me. I'm cutting down on caffeine and it is not making me smarter
[…]
he isn't doing it for "free" mate, he's running a for-profit business. yes bullying is wrong, but people complain about businesses all the time.
Free labour, minus his YouTube revenue, sponsorship revenue, merch revenue...
There's wanting to encourage civility, but let's not jerk each other off here.
Or let's. I mean. It's a Saturday night and I'm alone. I'm open to talk.
Grow some balls lol
The knives are out:
Dude you've been up your own ass for years. When you first started blowing up and dragging your videos out - I nicely suggested you stop adding 5 minutes to the beginning of every video showing us how to make bread. I told you having a separate "Bread with Babish" and telling viewers to reference that would be better. You basically said I was stupider than frog excrement and shouldn't think. Like what? Then a few months later Basics with Babish comes out. Go fuck yourself.
Bro has main character syndrome, thinking Babish personally spites him and only him.
In the nicest possible way, touch grass. Maybe even read your comment out loud and you might realise how ridiculous you sound.
You’ve been carrying this grudge for what, eight years? Touch some grass.
"touch grass" is so overused and trite it makes me want to tear off my dick
Another brings up Babish’s Hogwarts Legacy sponsorship:
Can we get an update on promoting the transphobic wizard game, and apparently deleting comments mentioning trans people on the video?
Imagine what a sad life you live if you’re that triggered by a video game. Literally don’t play it. Why do you care if others play it?
Because buying the game is basically saying "This mid wizards game is more important to me than human rights, fuck gay people, fuck trans people, kill em all, i dont give a shit lmao".
Seek help.
You should seek help if you dontate your money to making the lives of others worse intentionally and give 0 fucks about it.
[Continued:]
You are what is wrong with society. Again, it is advisable that you the seek the psychiatric help that you require. (By the way, it’s a great game).
Glad to know im whats wrong with society and not the scumbags who gave money to anti trans charities. Just know while you're playing it that trans people are living worse lives because of you.
The lil smart phone that ur using right now that relies on cobalt, which was mined by little kids like those in the DRC without protective gear so your phone could have a battery. Just know while you’re sitting here being a keyboard warrior that thousands, if not millions, of little kids’ lives are getting worse because of you.
a.) Im not on a phone and do not own a phone.
b.) Theres a difference because you NEED a computer of some sort to function well these days. You do not need the wizard game.
c.) Theres a difference between supporting a company like that where they try to hide it and keep it from the public and openly supporting someone who basically just comes out and says "Yo btw if you buy my game ill use the money to kill trans people, thanks"
[…]
Imagine being privileged enough for someone enjoying/promoting a Harry Potter game to be what gets ur panties in a twist. I get Rowling is a shit show, but be fucking for real 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sure your phone is a product of child slave labor and I’m sure you buy a lot of shit that promotes even more terrible things. Get off your high horse and stop crying over first world problems.
Im sorry its considered being on a high horse for wishing people didnt support a disgusting fucking transphobic monster thats hurting fuckloads of people. Its not even like other companies where its semi hidden and you have to look for it, she's blatantly and publicly a transphobic scumbag piece of human garbage. If you don't know any better, sure, but when people are buying the game with the specific intent to support transphobia or don't care that they're giving their money to someone who who's publicly transphobic and openly supports bigots and the hurting of people, you're transphobic and probably terrible.
People like you don’t actually help anything. All you do is piss off ordinary people and make them less likely to care about the trans community. You’re just bitter and you feel better about accomplishing nothing when you sling garbage comments at people. Grow up and do something that actually helps the community. Spewing vitriol and calling people transphobic is not helping.
Someone is transphobic Gets called transphobic Surprised Pikachu face
So you want me to stop calling transphobic people transphobic?
Id rather not help at all than actively hurt the community, ruin people's lives, and fund charities that fight to give people less rights. At least I fight for human decency and people's rights and don't donate to this shit.
I’ll rephrase. YOU ARE ACTIVELY HURTING THE COMMUNITY BY MAKING PEOPLE LESS LIKELY TO SUPPORT. Seriously, stop it. You’re not helping, you’re hurting. You’re not the face of the community, you’re just shouting in the comments at people who just want to watch a guys YouTube channel about food.
”He supports JK Rowling.” No he doesn’t. The game is a game. Cry all you want about what she said, the rest of the community has been ignoring her for years.
“She donates against trans acceptance”. Yes, and she would anyway even if the game didn’t get made. She was already rich after the books, it’s a pointless argument based solely on your principles and not on doing any good.
You keep calling people transphobic, but they are not. Buying a video game is not transphobic. You’re delusional and childish. This conversation is over, leave these people alone and spend time figuring your own shit out.
[Continued:]
I dont know in what universe giving more money to be donated to anti LGBT stuff is not transphobic. "Yeah i give money to charities that murder children but i dont support child murder". Sounds insane right? Thats what you're saying. That just because you're giving money to support making trans people's lives worse that you're not transphobic. You're being insane. "She'd support it anyways so who cares!" is the most insane argument i have ever read in my life holy shit. xD
Hopeless and stupid. You may as well go vote for Trump, you’ll fit right in. Honestly at this point I think you’re paid to make the trans community look bad, it makes more sense than whatever other insanity you want to keep blathering. I’m just gonna block you, like every other rational person.
You gave money to the company that made your smart phone and therefor you support child labor since the whole phone, or at least pieces of it, were made from child labor. You’re a disgusting human being….you see how fucking delusional you sound, bro?
One user taps out:
I’m glad you addressed it, but I had to leave. Best of luck to your future endeavors and I hope lessons were learned.
And yet, here you are
This isn’t the airport. You don’t have to announce your departure.
what an original comment, you are so smart and funny and original for having made such a thought provoking post. I hope you print this comment out and frame it so that your children will learn to appreciate what an original thinker their parent is. are you the person who invented "touch grass" as well? big fan of your work
lol I can only imagine how sad your life is that this is how you spend your time
if you think it is sad that I am here on reddit, doing reading and commenting, I have some terrible , alarming news for you.
[Continued:]
lol yea that’s definitely what I meant 😂
One user still has issues, despite the apology:
Any amount of warning that you were planning to paywall the site would have made it a lot more palatable of a change. Doing it without telling people felt shady at best and deceptive at worst.
Yeah, and this is an acknowledgment and an apology. Seems a little cruel to keep dragging him at this point.
I guess it starts with a halfhearted apology. There’s no explanation for why it was sprung without notice.
It’s “yeah whatever guess I should’ve told y’all but here’s some more stuff coming up that you can pay me for”
here's some more stuff coming up that you can pay me for
Ah, so you're one of those people who feels entitled to infinite free content from creators.
It’s weird to me how many people think YouTube content is free. YOU are the product. Free means no monetary exchanges. Do you think Andrew makes no money from YouTube? Do you think YouTube makes no money from you? His videos are not free.
[Continued:]
Wow you are REALLY fucking dumb huh?
No but apparently you are. How does Babish not get paid from YouTube? Is every video he posts “free labor”?
[…]
No I just don’t think this should be portrayed as an apology when it’s really just an advertisement
Maybe he can post again so you can still be mad for some fucking reason
A slapfight breaks out:
I’m sure you have good connections but if you want some fresh eyes on your script, id be down to give some coverage. Why am I being downvoted so heavily? As an aspiring writer myself, I know how hard it is to get feedback on a project. I’m a fan and offering my time and energy. I don’t get what the problem is. lol wtf is this sub? Comments insulting people getting upvotes in a thread about how negative comments have affected someone is wild work. Fuck me for being interested in Andrew as a writer.
Same vibes as the dude who asked Elon to run Tesla who was a nobody
get outta here man lol
Because you’re a nobody lmao
Holy shit, just read through your comments and god damn are you miserable hahah.
meanwhile you're scouring the profiles of people who upset you, looking for mud to sling
Someone calls me a nobody, I gotta go see what mighty status they got in the world to be shitting on others lol.
He literally thinks babish is gonna choose him or something but instead he attacks me 💀
[Continued:]
Looooool you’re gonna play victim??? Aint no fucking way lol. You insult and disrespectfully gatekeep and now you’re the one talking about being attacked hahahahahaha fuck all the way off with that nonsense.

2024.06.09 13:20 zero4all Brief introduction

This post offers a glimpse into my zero-point energy journey and discoveries made along the way, providing an oversimplified version of the complexities involved. While it presents fragments of scientific theories, it's essential to recognize that the exploration of ZPE delves into intricate realms beyond this brief exposition. The discoveries recounted here are simplified snapshots of a broader landscape, with ongoing debates challenging conventional scientific paradigms. It's important to note that the explanations of current scientific theories are merely facets of a larger understanding. No harm or offense is intended by these simplified explanations; rather, they serve as stepping stones for further exploration and discussion, urging readers to approach the subject with an open mind and a willingness to delve deeper into its complexities.
Here we go..
Modern science struggles to pinpoint the location of consciousness within our brains. Ancient teachings on non-local consciousness and purported psychic abilities, including remote viewing and channeling (among many others), hint at a radical departure: our consciousness may not originate from our brains at all. Instead, it suggests that our brains are mere vessels shaped by consciousness. Acting as interpreters of frequencies, our senses offer glimpses of a reality crafted by consciousness through our brains. This perspective reconceives consciousness as the fundamental essence of existence, expressed through frequencies and vibrations. Nikola Tesla's iconic words, 'If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration,' resonate profoundly with this notion. Tesla's belief in the existence of ether, the elemental substance from which all matter emerges, aligns with the idea that consciousness and ether could be intertwined. Within this framework, our brains are not generators of consciousness; rather, consciousness shapes the brain and everything perceived through it. This realization heralds a seismic shift in our understanding of reality.
Modern science explains that particles arise from fluctuations, transitioning between probability waves and tangible forms - particles are essentially manifestations of waves. This understanding, rooted in wave-particle duality, asserts that everything, including particles, fundamentally exists as waves. This interpretation resonates with my comprehension of how the universe operates.
The necessity of quoting more Tesla isn't essential here, as the concept of consciousness or ether inherently encompasses energy, frequency, and vibration. Reflecting on our understanding of electricity as an energy form, it's plausible that our comprehension of the electromagnetic field is incomplete. The propagation of electricity outside wires, within the electromagnetic field, hints at a deeper connection to consciousness or ether. Given that consciousness embodies frequencies and vibrations, it's logical to consider the ether's vibrational nature as the medium for electromagnetic wave propagation. This suggests that the traditional electromagnetic field may not be requisite for electricity transmission, as it likely traverses through the ether, as Tesla proposed.
After delving into multiple physics theories in pursuit of uncovering a unifying Theory of Everything, I stumbled upon vortex math. Subsequently, immersing myself extensively in its principles, I found Marko Rodin's insights particularly compelling. His elucidation of how the universe seemingly adheres to vortex patterns in energy flow resonated deeply with my quest for understanding the fundamental fabric of reality. Nature never operates in straight lines, and energy exhibits its own curvature, as indicated by vortex math. While vortex math elegantly elucidates the physical reality circuit (1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5) and its corresponding ether side (3, 6, 9), attempting to construct a device using base-10 math alongside vortex math presents a challenge. Something seems amiss and requires further investigation. This is where music enters the picture. Music, with its frequencies and harmonies, offers valuable insights.
It appears that the universe is divided into 12 equal intervals, akin to the structure of music. The 12 notes of the chromatic scale form an octave. Without delving into the intricacies of octaves and harmonies here, but understanding this concept reveals the significance of employing base-12 math in subjects like this. Both Tesla and Rodin were onto something with their emphasis on 3, 6, and 9 within the context of base-10 math. However, constructing a device based solely on this knowledge could lead to an imbalance between the ether and physical realms, resulting in energy leakage. Utilizing base-12 math, on the other hand, would align the formula perfectly and achieve harmonious equilibrium between the ether and physical aspects. The key to unlocking this balance lies in incorporating the numbers 3, 6, 9, and 12.
Contemplating these insights led me to consider the manifestation of energy/matter. Is it conceivable to engineer a device that manipulates ether in a manner that generates elevated waves in the ether, commonly known as standing waves?
A brief study of wave dynamics and interference revealed that longitudinal waves interacting or interfering with each other produce standing waves. Understanding that wires or conductive materials serve as "waveguides" for waves propagating in ether (or consciousness), it becomes feasible to construct a device capable of modulating the ether to generate desired standing waves upon it.
So, I resolved to challenge my own and others' beliefs regarding this concept and began constructing the device myself. The idea was to utilize waveguides or commonly known conductive materials arranged in a manner that encourages wave interference within the ether. Adjacent to these waveguides, there would be conductive material positioned to effectively "collect" these standing waves.
This led me to create a device comprising copper plates shaped correctly for waveguides, with induction plates situated nearby. To my lack of surprise, transmitting the appropriate longitudinal wave to this device resulted in a significant surplus of electricity being generated on the induction plates. Initial experiments yielded highly promising results. Adding a load to the plates and measuring the produced power indicated that with only 5W of input power, I was able to generate multiple kW impulses on the induction plates. Remarkably compact, the device is not much larger than a basketball and weighs only about 1.5kg, making it incredibly portable and versatile. Its size belies its capabilities, as it can easily serve as a power source for a house, electric car, or any other electric application. Furthermore, its construction is remarkably simple, requiring no complex electronic components or expensive materials, and it can be assembled at home using basic tools.
One significant observation is that the surplus electricity manifests as impulses rather than continuous power. Thus far, I've had to externally introduce the input pulse to the device from an external power source, resulting in infrequent impulses in the previous development version. However, I've devised a method to configure the device so that it generates the input pulse autonomously, enabling it to operate continuously as a self-sustaining generator. Though the term "generator" may not be entirely accurate, as it simply manifests energy from the ether. Functioning akin to all motors and generators, it operates as a self-feeding and self-running system.
Like an internal combustion engine, which relies on fuel, a spark plug, and a piston/camshaft to convert energy, this device operates with the ether as its fuel source, the input pulse acting as the spark plug, and the waveguides and inducing plates functioning as the piston and camshaft. This device complies with physical laws, as it harnesses energy from the ether, an external and seemingly unlimited energy source. Thus, it does not violate thermodynamic laws, as it operates as an open system rather than a closed one. Its only requirement for operation is an initial kickstart, akin to most motors. Once kickstarted, it runs autonomously, devoid of any moving parts, and can be constructed by most individuals themselves.
This device represents my interpretation of true zero-point energy—a concept that holds immense promise as a virtually unlimited and sustainable source of free energy. Zero-point energy, also known as vacuum energy or ground state energy, is the energy that remains in a system even at its lowest possible energy state. Harnessing this energy could revolutionize the way we power our world, offering a clean, abundant, and renewable source of energy for all.
You might wonder why I'm sharing this without providing video proof of my device. The reason is simple: I intend for this device to be open source, marking the first step toward making this technology accessible to everyone. I have no intention of patenting it under any circumstances. All the necessary information to build this device will be freely available for anyone to use. This post marks the inaugural stride towards a society where energy is not merely a commodity but a birthright, as essential as the air we breathe and the water we drink.
Through this research journey, I've been awakened to the profound essence of our reality and the boundless possibilities it entails. The revelation that energy can be effortlessly harnessed from the ether unveils a paradigm-shifting vista of potentialities. If such a feat is within our grasp, then the manipulation of gravity and the manifestation of matter are no longer relegated to the realm of science fiction but become tantalizingly attainable aspirations. Given their strong connection to the ether, both gravity and matter offer avenues for exploration, suggesting that neutralizing gravitational forces becomes as achievable as manifesting energy.
Stay tuned, for this is just the beginning of a voyage into a future where the boundaries of possibility are limited only by our imagination. Future posts will reveal more detailed information about the device and the power output, along with videos of the device in operation.

2024.06.09 13:19 Travel-Lover5217 I 38F feel divided between ex partner 40M together for 6 years in early 20s and current partner of 2 years also 40M. Advice?

Hi, I am a 38F who's currently in a 2 y relationship with a 40M. We met through a mutual friend, started quite casual from my side as I wasn't ready to be in a serious relationship yet. He however was serious from the start, we connected on a lot of things initially but as soon as we decided to get serious 7months later, we've always had a tumoultuous relationship, due to having opposite personalities and extremely different upbringings as well as not being on the same page emotionally. From the beginning he seemed like the kind of man who has very good intentions makes a lot of promises, but the majority of time we end up not doing any of the things promised "due to work commitments" I had a lot of advice from family and friends telling me he is a good man and loves me very much and if I wanted to get married and have a family time wasn't on my side, that I should give someone that loves me a chance and eventually I would learn to love him too, that a relationship takes a lot of work and I would have to work and build what I wanted, that as long as he had a good heart, is a good man the rest could be build and taught. In my opinion he is all of these things and regardless of me being an independant women who is educated, has her own house and a good job, he says he wants to still provide for me and a future family. Now, with that being said, my feelings for him have not been as strong as his for me, I heard everything everyone said and decided they may be right, let me give us a chance and I could learn to love him. At some point last year I actually started developing some feelings and thought this is it, we went on a magical holiday I started seeing him with different eyes, more of a leader and less of a pushover. And for the 1st time after being disappointed so many times, he accomplished a "task" he had promised, we each paid our own way but the important thing was he was there, I decided to comply to his wishes of being introduced to my family and friends and thought this might be the start of something. Fast forward to the last 6 months the empty promises and recurrent disappointment on things we were planning to do together has become apparent again, don't get me wrong I see he seems to have good intentions and doesn't do it purposefully, he lacks discipline in general and wants to do everything at same time but ends up doing nothing kind of guy. I do really care for him but the exhaustion is catching up,we hadn't been intimate in weeks over a month, to the point that last month I ended up going on a holiday by myself to Finland, since our holiday plans have once again not happened and I've never even heard an apology or had an actual seat down to explain why, I booked myself a flight and a hotel for 4 days and left, he was a bit sour, we had an argument over the phone about how we are not communicating well with each other and he thought after that conversation everything was good. But now I'm in Finland and I had never had a solo holiday before this was it, I took myself out on dates to amazing restaurants, boat rides, site visits and was honestly the most amazing experience. Something shifted inside of me, I came back and my feelings for him were fading and I now find myself thinking more and more of a previous partner who I stayed with for 7 years from my early 20's who I was madly in love with and vice versa. This is also a 40M from my past who I had a very intense love story with and due to living in different countries at the time and paperwork issues the relationship ended up breaking, we were going through a lot individually and couldn't be there for each other physically, months would go by without seeing each other. However we never forgot each other, we went no contact for 5 years and one day in 2016 I was on holiday with my parents and siblings far away, let's say I live in the UK, the ex-partner lived in Spain at the time, my parents are from Brazil and he's family is from Brazil as well, and this one day in 2016 I was coming out of the hairdressers with my mom and saw him coming in to the shop with a friend, we were both speechless at 1st because what are the odds that after 5 years of no contact at all living far away, we were visiting our families at the same time in the same place, Brazil is such a huge country too. Anyway, after a few minutes he told me he was there because his mother had passed away, I gave my condolences, my mum too we chatted for another 5 min and left. I was speechless. Coming back to the UK I spent 2 days online trying to find his number or email or any contact to give him my proper condolences and found out he is now living in the UK. Now I was in a relationship at the time so we never saw each other again but we kept talking respectfully, but I knew he continued to love me and I him. Now it's 2018 I'm single again and we would chat every 3/4 months I never told him I was single and even thought I asked him if he was single and he said yes, I got the impression he wasn't, I'd seen his pics on WhatsApp profiles travelling and having fun and was definitely a female involved. So I left it, I didn't want to disturb his happiness, even thought he continued chatting to me. Now 4 years later after being single for so long I meet the current partner and situation above. Circling back I've been thinking a lot about ex-partner and how loved I felt and still feel even without being together, I'm sure if I asked him to see me or asked to consider rebuilding a relationship he would definitely say yes, but at the same time I wouldn't want to ruin anything for him if he's already happy. Now the so long awaited question for mature ladies...would you have rather choose to stay with a man that loves you whom you care for but don't love, or with the man that you love and care deeply? I feel very divided, didn't think I would have these type of doubts at my age.

2024.06.09 13:18 Talented_Fartist G-Swivel Bike + Shelf

I just installed the G-Swivel Bike + Shelf sold by Teal Triangle and under the StoreYourBoard brand, using the same model name.
I have four large bicycles and wanted to make them accessible from the shed while taking up minimum space. There are many options for wall mounting bicycles, ranging from simple individual hooks to high end racks. I went through a number of reviews for the various options, nearly selecting a generic rack that is sold under many names on amazon for as low as $50, but this is a job I really wanted to do just once, and the G-Swivel model appeared to be a bit better construction and design.
Instructions provided did not speak to the G-Swivel model specifically, I assume because it is new. But the difference between this and the normal rack is just the placement of the hooks into the supports, which is easily understood.
The parts all seemed to be reasonably thick steel, and the finish looked good. Unlike generic amazon stuff, the screws aren’t made of butter alloy.
I had envisioned having two bikes swiveled to the left, and two swiveled to the right in order to maximize space. That plan didn’t really work out, since all that buys you is a small bit of floor space between the two sets that isn’t really usable, and maybe 5-6” of floor space overall, at a cost of taking up another 3’ of wall space. So I ended up pushing them in the same direction.
The instructions make it sound like you have some latitude as to where you place the shelf and the support bar. Unless your bikes are all childrens sizing, you have no choice at all. The shelf must go at the highest setting on the vertical supports, and the support bar must go at the lowest. Even then, you will be hard pressed to place or remove a bike without hitting the shelf.
And when you hit that shelf, you’ll quickly discover that the little plastic locks for the brackets are not sufficient to keep it from jumping out of the track. I am hoping that with a little practice I will develop some technique to hang and remove bikes without bumping the shelf, but if not, the shelf will have to go.
Another problem with the vertical brackets is that they are held in place by a single screw at the bottom. There is nothing to secure the top other than the hook shape, and that will allow the top to move around a bit. Curiously, they did include screw holes in the vertical brackets but with the large empty space between the surface of the u-shaped bracket and the stud, I don’t think they can add much support.
They include 4 drawer handles to stablize the lower wheel while hanging. Because my shed is unfinished, and only one of the spaces aligned with s stud, I only used one of them. I could mount them all on a 1x6 board across the bottom, but letting them fall between the studs gives me a couple of extra inches of floor space.
The install took me a couple of hours but for someone handy it is probably a 30 min job. Lastly, I had underestimated the disadvantage of hanging lower end steel frame bikes. They are heavy and awkward, and I don’t think anyone else in the family will be able to place or remove bikes from the rack by themselves.
In hindsight, I probably would have been better off giving up the entire shed wall, and using hooks that would allow all of the bikes to be as flat against the wall as possible. That also would have also allowed some family members to be able to get the low position bikes on and off the hooks without my help.
I do mildly regret the purchase but I will give it a couple of days.

2024.06.09 13:16 rmoto Fraud Prevention Lockdown

I changed my password for my Chase login on the 3rd of June. While trying to re-login, the app kept telling me I temporarily couldn’t be logged in while the web browser site kept sending me to the verification code page where I’d get the automated call from Chase and enter the code where it would then take me back to the login page to start over.
I let it go for a bit until today when I tried to log into the app again and got the same message. This time, when I tried online, I received a message saying I need to call as my account has been locked.
I called and discovered my account has been locked as a fraud prevention measure and it will take 2-3 business days for it to be reviewed by a “specialist team.” My cards are still active and working but I have no access to online banking. It’s been a week since my account was locked and they told me to try calling back on Monday.
Has anyone had this happen? Is it easy to resolve? I didn’t call earlier as the app just said I couldn’t be logged in at the moment so I thought there may have been some technical error but it went almost a full week without hearing anything from Chase. How will I regain access?

2024.06.09 13:14 Dizzy-Screen-6618 IS IT COMPLETELY DEAD??? (Ochokochi Deep-Dive)

IS IT COMPLETELY DEAD??? (Ochokochi Deep-Dive)
After almost a year since the fateful day that the Ochokochi was released into the Live Server, generating an all time high in anger and rage quitters, one question remains; Is the Ochokochi still any good? The affirmative answer is common knowledge to many, but today we will delve deep into the reason of this answer.
Even the greatest hater can't deny the Ochokochi's breathtaking design and unique mechanics
Strengths:
In order to utilize a Robot to its greatest potential, one must properly understand its strengths.
  • Durability: Even after its 25% HP nerf, the Ochokochi remains firmly entrenched in the tank status. Despite its maximum base durability is now only 300,000 HP, is easily spawns into a match with a cool 550,000+ HP with the right Pilot Skills, Modules and Drones.
  • Ability: The Ochokochi's ability is incredibly versatile and useful. For the full 8 seconds of ability the robot moves at an incredible pace while emitting powerful shockwave that push enemies away. For the first half of the ability all incoming damage is reduced (20%, 30%, 40% for MK1, MK2 and MK3 respectively). As an added bonus, the remaining damage that isn't blocked in this first phase is converted into DoT (Damage over Time, a.k.a. corrosion) damage and every projectile that hits the robot causes your robot to take one stack of DoT, this is very important, more on it later.
  • Firepower: 2 Medium and 2 Light hardpoints are no laughing matter. Equip this robot with the right weapons and you'll be the last one standing. We will talk about weapon choices in the next section
Weaknesses:
Understanding your Robot's limitations is arguably more important than understanding its power.
  • Speed: When using the Ochokochi always have a clear goal to where you want to go and what you want to achieve. It's very easy to burn a lot of time wandering aimlessly from one side of a map to the other.
  • Ability Cooldown: With a cooldown of 12 seconds and an effective duration of 4 seconds, you need to learn to utilize it where you really need it, namely when taking heavy fire from the enemy, do not use it just to get to places fast (exception; securing important beacons especially during a close end-game).
  • Rust: Like every other highly durable Robot that relies on healing to keep it alive, the Ochokochi is highly susceptible to the Rust effect. In fact, due to the fact that DoT is 100% healable damage, the Ochokochi may be even more reliant on heal than almost any other Robot around.
Builds:
Judge not a Robot on its own, but on what it carries upon itself.
Weapons:
  • Leiming/Shifang: The most popular build in the highest level of the game, this build deals insane damage to groups of enemies and has the added fun bonus of charging your Mothership and Titan extremely fast if needed.
  • UE Corona/Halo, UE Punisher: The former excels in dealing extreme amounts of damage to robots at close range, most effective at 120-150m against regular robots (It's bearer will have no issues transporting them to this destination). This build will lock your enemies down and finish them off in a blink of an eye. The latter is the bane to slow moving tanks, it will slice through their Defense Points like butter. Pair according to taste.
  • Porthos/Aramis: Accurate to a fault with extreme Mothership and Titan charge, it's no surprise that this is an easy recommend for the Ochokochi with all that heal to quench its thirst for constant heal.
  • F2P Options: Seeing that this robot is in widespread use of Free To Play players these are my top recommendations: Mace/Cudgel and, what do you know, Hazard/Blight. The former builds weapons are still menaces at close range and fit Ochokochi's aggressive playstyle perfectly. The latter is a softer and safer option which allows you to keep some distance while supporting your team but can still brawl decently well if the need arises. An honorary mention is the Havoc/Scatter build which, while able to completely destroy heal orientated enemies, still lacks in reload and clip size making it a more niche option that requires decent timing and battle awareness.
Pro Tip: If you are using an Ochokochi for your starter Robot, simply slap a Tamer on together with whatever build you've chosen, this gives you an immediate advantage against any heal reliant enemy tank you may face.
Modules:
Easily one of the most overlooked parts of robot builds, these should be one of your top priorities.
(Keys: NA = Nuclear Amplifier, RA = Repair Amplifier, IA = Immune Amplifier)
  • 1x NA/2x RA: Easily the best option, I wouldn't seriously recommend any other build to be honest but some others may have some kind of benefit on some builds in certain scenarios... (this is the F2P recommended set-up).
  • 1x NA/1x IA/1x RA: Very hard to utilize, this only has value if your Ochokochi is fully decked out and running the Pascal drone. Even in this case, you may have to play the Ochokochi slightly more on the conservative side, which it does not appreciate.
  • Active Module: The recommended module is Phase Shift as this may be your only protection against Rust and the Ability's cooldown. If you have the Avalon mothership feel free to use heals if you have the charge ready. If you spawn Ochokochi as a starter Robot then stick with Phase Shift.
Drones:
These pesky little buggers carry more weight than many give them credit for.
Shai: The best drone for long term survival. Play your Robot carefully and gain all 5 stacks to transform into an unkillable monster. This robot gives the Ochokochi the survivability it so dearly misses from its prime days. The built-in Last Stand doesn't hurt either last time I checked.
One of the most popular all-around Drones in the game
Pascal: This drone is your best option to allow your Ochokochi to do what it loves most; Charging the enemy head-on. The built in heal and temporary Defense Points allow it to stay alive and charge Amplifiers with ease. The downside is its long term bonuses, in which it lacks severely.
Don't let this Drone's appearance fool you, it's deadly. Really deadly
Hiruko: Yes, the Hiruko. Even after its recent nerf (read this post if you aren't up to date), the Hiruko still works wonders on the Ochokochi. The bonus 240,000 HP after 8 Active Module activations is no joke. This is besides the fact that now only the Ochokochi can be reliably take DoT stacks for bonus damage even after the Hiruko's 3rd ability reaches max stacks (8) due to the Robot's built-in DoT generation from the first phase of its ability.
This abomination will strike fear into the hearts of your enemies
Armadillo: A decent option, sadly not on the level of the previous listed Drones but works fine.
A great drone, sadly outclassed by the more recent releases
F2P Options: Unfortunately, Microchips aren't exactly a Free to Play resource, therefore if you do not have any of the previous leveled your options are severely curbed. Reviver is the only drone I'd use at level 1 as a F2P but the Whiteout is the only other one that is better than nothing.
Pilots and Pilot Skills:
A Robot without a Pilot and Skills is worthless, don't let your Robots decide anything for you.
Pilots:
Vepkho Lovidze: Vepkho's specialty is converting DoT stacks into Defense Points. Be on the lookout for Robots and weapons that deal damage with many small projectiles to soak up for maximum effect (read "Ability" above). The DoT stacks (and therefore the Defense Points as well) that the primary phase of the Ochokochi ability generates last for 5 seconds.
This fearless Tiger-masked warrior fights with honor
Seven: She specializes in converting damage into heal for her Robot. She heals 15% of the Ochokochi's HP after the ability ends as well as 10% of the damage it dealt during its ability.
This poor girl underwent a horrible botched experiment that left her dangerously unstable
Verdict: Although Seven's Durability heal seems enticing, Vepkho Lovidze's Defense Points comes ahead in most cases, although if you have a lower level Ochokochi and no maxed RAs you may want to choose Seven to keep that HP up.
Overall Vepkho Lovidze is the better choice for the high flyers and Seven is the better option for lower level players.
Pilot Skills:
Unfortunately Memorium isn't made to be very Free to Play friendly either, but if you can get your hands on some, these are the skills you should be on the lookout for in descending order of importance:
  • Armor Expert / Ochokochi (Ochokochi has increased durability).
  • Tough Guy / Ochokochi (Ochokochi has increased durability but its weapon damage is lowered by [Placeholder]%).
  • Deft Survivor / Ochokochi (Recharges robot's ability after Ochokochi's durability drops below a certain level. Triggers once per battle. Not affected by leveling up).
  • Cautious Pilot / Ochokochi (Ochokochi has increased durability but its speed is lowered by [Placeholder]%).
  • Dodger / Ochokochi (All active modules recharge faster on Ochokochi).
  • Stubborn Warrior / Ochokochi (As long as Ochokochi has a durability of below 30% it gains additional Defense Points).
Much lower priority for the last one (Choose whatever benefits you most):
  • Module Expert, Road Hog, Mechanic or [Weapon Skill]
Pro Tip: If you are going to level the pilot all the way to the max select the Deft Survivor skill last as you don't need to level the Pilot's rank further it to increase its effectiveness.
Sorry for the long read, hope this was informative. Have a great day!

So I'm an Android user, and setting up the U200 went nowhere until I used my iPad. Has anyone had luck with Android use? When it comes to locking, is there a method to lock the door without the app? Strangely, I cannot find an auto lock feature.

2024.06.09 13:05 Known-Emu-2049 Didnt realised how messed up my life was because of N/mum

Since having kids I started to realise somethings werent right about my childhood. There were alot of things that were triggered and alot of things my brain had forgotten about until a memory was triggered by something. My mum was physically, mentally and emotionally abusive. She would starve us, lock us in our room all day without being able to use the toilet or even drink water, or sit us on a wooden chair all day if we missed behaved at all. The punishment never fit the crime ever and I didnt realise any of it till I had children of my own and couldnt imagine treating my children like that. I used to laugh it off as those funny childhood stories that slightly traumatise us but we make light of it so the heaviness of the actually situation doesnt hit us like a tonne of bricks.
She was constantly pitting our sibling against each other and I noticed that my siblings that had darker skin she would call naughty children alot more and punish alot harsher. We never ever got praise from her or received any hugs never even a smile. She would constantly say “whats wrong with you children?” “Why are you all like this?” “There is something wrong with you all, you are just like your father” and my personal favourite “im so disappointed in my children”. Then there was the constant do this for me and do that for me to try and earn her acknowledgment. We were beat and smacked til she felt better. We were pushing and had our hair pulled. My mother even tried to kill my younger siblings and I with a knife. When child services came to check on us my mum told us all to lie or we would be separated and never see each other again. Everynight I had to do multiple chores before I could go to bed while she sat at the table watching tv. I was never allowed to go out with my friends and we were isolated from family and friends. So none of us kids had a way of even escaping if we wanted too. We werent allowed to eat or drink whenever we wanted and any sugar or anything remotely sweet was locked in her walkin robe with a padlock. We were only allowed to have it if we behaved.
As adults she only calls when she wants help with something more specifically help from my husband to fix something. Even though her fiance is perfectly capable of doing it. I think she just enjoys knowing she has some small amount of power over me.
I guess Im just tired of the manipulation and the guilt given when you say no to something. Im tired of the drama and Im tired of everything they need is super urgent and has to be dealt with straight away but they want you sort it out for them. They have great ideas of everyone getting together but they want you to plan it and organise it. The parentification cycle that you struggle to get out of for your own mental well being.
The emotional scars they leave of always feeling isolated and unloved, unworthy, useless, unlovable is such a heavy burden to bear.
Im just so tired….but apparently she is more tired always more everything than I could ever be.

2024.06.09 13:03 strange_serenity21 I still miss my ex after 4 years since breakup

I don't necessarily like venting to my family or the little friends I have anymore about this since I don't want them to know how weak of a person I am because this breakup killed me back when it first happened. This all basically starts in 2019, I had just graduated highschool, started college in the fall and was heading into 3 years of being with my at the time highschool bf, now ex, and things were kind of weird. Maybe it was the high emotions of being launched into adulthood or maybe I was going insane who knows, either way I started getting really depressed that summer. So many things were happening all at the same time like my cat dying/running away, losing friends, health issues, etc. and it felt like the order of my world was crashing down. I felt crazy because I also felt like a child with so much on my plate and to be quite honest I still do. I loved my ex boyfriend I really did and I still have some love for him present day but we had already had some tensions built up from previous matters that I started just piling and piling up in my head and there was only so much more I could take honestly. The first time he really broke a piece of me was when I had to go to a scholarship acceptance banquet and they completely fucked me over so I left crying and since I went there expecting to eat I left hungry so I went to get food and drove to see him after his shift and we ate in my car or more like he ate in my car while I cried and he kind of listened because in the middle of ranting he turned up the music in the car because "it was a good song", mind you I was still crying. After this anything he did that slightly pissed me off started getting added into my pile of grievances. Also in my eyes after we graduated from Highschool he did start to seem distant at times, one of the habits he grew was constantly being on his phone while on dates, sometimes even texting a girl I told him to block because I felt insecure. I know what you are probably thinking, another girl that just won't let her boyfriend have a chick friend. You know yea basically but one thing that got me really insecure is he would constantly play games with girls and be all chummy with them but when I asked to play it was always "maybe later" and well later never came except for one time when he asked me to play minecraft with him so I bought minecraft just to play, even though I know it gives me severe motion sickness, and we played for maybe 30 minutes until he was tired left and we never played again even when I asked for it. After a couple more incidents of him just not caring about my feelings I won't lie my eyes did start to wander off of him a little, I never acted on this because this really scared me due to being with my ex for so long and only knowing him and all I could think of was how could I possibly be so cruel and just leave him like that, so I continued to stay and at this time I still had the motivation to work things out. A couple months pass and I am still pretty depressed and suddenly I start having this feeling of no emotion at all. I feel like maybe this is what some might call desensitization but I haven't looked into it all that much. I felt like I couldn't feel happiness, sadness, anger, anxiety, basically any emotion I had ever encountered was now gone out of nowhere even love was gone. This loss of emotion affected everyone around me not just my ex, I literally didn't even love my parents, that is how bad it was. Our anniversary passes and I'm going through out it but we make it to 2020. Of course like most people this is where shit starts going south because well 2020 was the year of the pandemic. I'm in my second semester of freshman year and I'm still struggling internally without telling anyone about what I am going through mentally. Worst thing about this was that I could barely tell my ex about it because he in the past made fun of his best friend for having to be in a psych ward, which was another addition to the pile might I add. Due to the nature of him casting me and my emotions aside once the pandemic was in full swing I slowly implemented my way of casting him aside slowly but surely to give him a taste of his own medicine. Was this petty yea but did I do it... yea. So during the pandemic of course we would talk but I spent more time playing games, doing exercise/losing weight, and getting back into my hobbies. At this time I don't think it bothered him that much because I was still giving him his doses of attention and he was giving me mine so like whatever I suppose. But then at some point during this shift I remember being on snapchat after hours after he said he had gone to bed and checking where all my friends were on snapmaps, and thats when I see him in the middle of a parking lot alone around 2-3am in the morning. I start trying to make rational thoughts like maybe thats the last place he was when he opened snapchat before going home to bed so I just snap him out of curiosity and I can't remember what I said but it was something along the lines of "i cant sleep miss you send a pic" and he opens it right away and I really couldn't tell where he was in the picture. I open the snap map again and he's still in the parking lot and I ask him what he is doing and he just says trying to sleep. Obviously not.... To this day I don't know what was up with that, sometimes I want to think he was maybe getting weed or something late at night but lying to me because neither of us did substances of any kind at that time but I suspect he was cheating maybe. This was like a huge break in my sanity and after this I became even more distant and sometimes I wouldn't even text him during the day and sometimes he would do the same for me too. Something completely snapped in me a couple of weeks later and when he was hanging out with his friends I decided I needed to call a break. I think this is truly where I messed up and where things could've gone positively for me if I didn't do what I did next. We met up a day later and he was crying while I explained to him everything I had/was going through and how all the things he did were finally getting to me and I remember looking at him crying and feeling nothing but telling him it was a break and that I just needed time to think and that we would more than likely get back together. The beginning of this break was like heaven to me. I felt pure bliss and it felt like everything that was wrong had washed away in an instance. I remember sunbathing outside with my cousins maybe a day or two after that meet up and just being so happy about just breathing outside. I don't remember texting my ex that first week much as my dad had also gone through emergency surgery and I was dealing with that. Second week we started just checking up on eachother a little and third week I think is when we met up and I once again told him we would get back together soon and it didn't feel like a bad idea anymore to be honest. I genuinely think I just needed a little time and space. After that we saw eachother once a week and we'd just chill and talk and at some point we started getting physical with eachother again and genuinely I felt pretty good about getting back together this time around. One of the last times I spoke to him in a loving way I remember him not having his glasses on and telling him how glad I was to be able to see his eyes without glasses on and how pretty his green eyes were... Then the next week we broke up because I found him, in my opinion, emotionally cheating on me with someone over the internet, which he denied. The way I reacted to finding this out was crazy, I felt so insane and don't even understand all the things I said and did but I did them. I was pissed off at myself because there was no way I had let myself get vulnerable all over again with him and regaining my emotions just for him to fuck me over like that. I was utterly devastated, especially thinking that I couldve broken up with him and ended up emotionally okay but then I let him break up with me. This breakup was a huge rift in our circles, my friends hated him, his friends hated him and some of them even asked me out after this, which was weird and still is considering these people are still friends with him but I digress. Although at the time of our breakup he acted like there was potential for us dating again and how he would always have a place in his heart for me he actually moved on rather quickly to the person I caught him texting. Felt like I gave him so many chances but he gave me zero. If anyones gone through a breakup they know that deep sinking feeling straight in the chest. I felt that shit from June to November nonstop everyday. I was going insane being in my own body. I became anemic and developed an ED because of how little I was eating. My mom tells me about how when I slept in her and my dads room the first month she would watch me sleep because she could see how much of a toll the breakup took on me, she said it looked like my eyes had completely sunken in and that my collar bone looked like it was cutting through me. Basically I looked like a walking lifeless corpse was how bad I took it. I won't lie I stalked my ex hardcore the next couple months because I couldn't fathom him being so happy when I was in so much pain. Thankfully once my birthday arrived I didn't feel as bad anymore and I was able to celebrate with a smile on my face with my family. Once 2021 hit I vowed to let go and stop checking up on him and start living my life and it was honestly going really good... at first. Because once I stopped stalking him he decided to make multiple accounts to stalk me. I immediately knew it was him and I won't lie I entertained it, I enjoyed the attention I received from someone who now probably regretted his decision. I let it go on a little until I sabotaged it, because in my mind if I exposed him to his partner at the time maybe just maybe he would come back to me. WRONG COMPLETELY WRONG. He lied his way out of getting into trouble somehow after I confronted him and his partner at the time and it left me feeling more drained than ever. This time it started a downward spiral for me so bad that I had to start antidepressants and to this day I still take. Yet after all of this I still miss him. I know I am weak and stupid and everything else inbetween but that's just who I am. I hate myself for wasting my early twenties to being depressed over this but I can't do anything about it now. I've been single ever since and he's on his second partner now since me. I didn't start finding people attractive again until the middle of 2023 and since then I have entertained the idea of bumble and tinder but I cannot fathom it. I want an organic relationship with some new but sometimes I want lovers to enemies to lovers again with me ex idk. The only reason I'm venting about this was because I went on facebook and one of my friends memories had him in middle school in it and I lost it. Hope someone can be entertained by my stupid love story or maybe someone can feel not so alone in this evil love filled world.
also I kept some things out because I don't want to embarrass myself more than I already have

2024.06.09 12:59 KyluAce OnePlus 12 vs Pixel 8 Pro

Hello everyone, I’ve been using the Pixel 8 Pro (P8P) for about half a year and the OnePlus 12 (OP12) for about a month. I thought it would be a good time to compare these two phones. As an Android Developer with 10 years of experience, I consider myself a demanding user who uses the phone for a variety of purposes including normal usage, fun, and work.
To start with, I purchased the Pixel 8 Pro 12/256 version for 1159€ from the Google Store, which included the Google Pixel Watch 2 as a pre-order bonus. The OnePlus 12 (16/512 version) was bought from TradingShenzhen for approximately 670€. Currently, the Pixel 8 Pro can be purchased for around 850€.
Let’s talk about the packaging. The Pixel 8 Pro comes only with a USB-C cable, which in my opinion, is of really poor quality. I’ve had connection issues with these cables from Google from time to time. On the other hand, the OnePlus 12 comes with a 100W charger, a USB-C cable, and a classic case. Considering the package and price, the OnePlus 12 is a clear winner for me.
Moving on to the battery and charging. The Pixel 8 Pro has a 5000mAh battery while the OnePlus 12 has a 5400mAh capacity. But that’s just raw data that anyone can Google. In practice, I find the Pixel 8 Pro’s battery to be quite disappointing. Despite numerous optimizations, I was only able to achieve around 5 hours of screen-on time (SOT) (with lower resolution, disabled 5G, location and other permissions disabled for most apps, and battery optimizations). On the other hand, achieving 7 hours of SOT on the OnePlus 12 is quite normal without any optimizations. I use both phones with lower resolution and higher refresh rate. The Pixel 8 Pro can be charged at a maximum speed of 30W, but we need a special charger for that (the same is true for the OnePlus, but they provide the charger). I tried charging the Pixel with a bunch of chargers that I have at home, and the maximum speed that I reached was 20W, which is quite poor. The combination of poor battery life and slow charging speed is really annoying. In this case, the OnePlus 12 with its 100W charging speed is the clear winner.
Let’s discuss the screen. The Pixel 8 Pro has a flat 1344x2992 6.70" screen and the OnePlus 12 has a curved 1440x3168 6.82" screen. Both are really great screens. The OnePlus 12 has slightly higher brightness and resolution. However, the main differences for me are that the Pixel’s screen is flat and the OnePlus’s is curved, and the screen color options (Google gives us 2 options and OnePlus gives us 3 options and an additional manual adjust option). The OnePlus 12 is my first phone with a curved screen and I often feel insecure about it. I’ve stopped placing the phone screen down because I’m worried about it. Also, when I look at the screen from a specific angle on the curved side, it looks strange (different colors). But for normal usage, it’s okay, and gestures may be easier. If we are looking at specifications, the OP12 is the winner (higher brightness, higher resolution, and curved screens are more expensive), but for me, both of them are at a really high level.
Performance / Heating When it comes to efficiency and temperature management, the OnePlus 12, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, completely outclasses the Google Tensor 3 in the Pixel. The Pixel tends to heat up during normal usage on mobile data (LTE), and even more so during gaming, leading to a noticeable drop in performance. On the other hand, the OnePlus 12 only gets slightly warm when unplugged from its 100W charger, and it’s still cooler than the Pixel charging at 20W. Comparing the OnePlus 12’s performance with the Pixel 8 Pro feels like comparing this year’s flagship with a mid-range phone from 2020-2022. The OnePlus 12 is the clear winner here.
Connectivity Connectivity might seem like an odd category, but it’s quite important to me. I have the Chinese version of the OnePlus 12 (without eSIM), and I must say, I was initially worried about network coverage. However, it’s noticeably better than the Google Pixel. Even when testing my Wi-Fi range, the results were shocking. I connected both phones to the same Wi-Fi network and moved to the farthest corner of my home. At this point, the OnePlus still had full range (4/4), while the Pixel was down to half (2/4). Running several speed tests, the OnePlus consistently achieved about 120 Mbps, while the Pixel only managed 20 Mbps - that’s a five-fold difference! The OnePlus also outperforms the Pixel in terms of mobile data coverage.
Camera I’m not a professional photographer. Like most people, I use my phone’s camera to share photos on social media or send them to friends and family. As we know, apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger tend to degrade photo quality, and in 2024, most flagship phones have good cameras whose potential we don’t fully utilize. However, I did notice some differences between the two phone cameras. Both phones have quite good cameras, not the best on the market, but still very good. Pixel photos have more subdued colors, while OnePlus photos are brighter . Both companies should work on video stabilization. The Pixel has a slight issue with maintaining focus on one thing, making other elements a bit blurry. I like both cameras, and it’s hard to choose a better one - they’re different for sure. If you’re interested, I can take some photos and upload them for comparison (we can do a blind test).
System The primary reason I opted for a Pixel was its operating system. I was quite frustrated with certain aspects of Android that didn’t function well, and I had heard that Pixels are akin to iPhones in the world of Android. Although I’ve never owned an iPhone, I found little difference between Pixels and other brands. The same issues persist, such as missing notifications (a significant problem, I believe, with the Pixel 8 Pro), and apps being killed in the background. In my view, the main distinction between Pixels and other brands is the absence of certain features. Brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Samsung have their own software packed with useful features like Samsung Dex, app cloning, floating windows, etc. Thus, when the system/software behaves similarly but offers less, the choice is clear.
Additional Annoyances on Pixel:
Additional Annoyances on OnePlus:
In Summary In my opinion, the OnePlus 12 significantly outshines Pixel 8 Pro, When compared to the OnePlus, the Pixel appears to be a mid-range phone from 2022, albeit with a commendable camera. The OnePlus 12 triumphs over the Pixel in numerous categories, including:
Pixel fight back only in the following areas:

2024.06.09 12:59 Gandhi70 Bypass Height limit on Potensic Atom

So, there is a way to bybass the fixed height limit (on Android at least) which was introduced with the latest app updates.
1) Deinstall the latest PotensicPro version and download install the latest version of the PotensicPro App without heigth limit (5.6.0) from apkpure.com
2) Install a firewall app like Adguard and block access to "appserver.depstech.com/index.php/api/app/updateapp". Otherwise the old app version will constantly remind you, that it needs to be updated.
3) Disable automatic updates for Potensic Pro app in Google Play sstore
Afterwards height control is back and working in the app...

2024.06.09 12:57 lockdownlassie Private diagnosis to Shared Care - Scotland specific advice (Edinburgh)

I hope someone has any information about accessing shared care specifically in Edinburgh, Scotland. I got a private diagnosis of ADHD a few months ago- the cost was covered as a gift. The next step is medication, but I've had a lot of knock back from GPs who one even refused to consider adding me to the 7 year long wait list for NHS re-assessment (I should have filed a complaint but didn't have the energy to).
From what I understand, my only option now is to pay for titration privately and hope I can find a different GP practice to accept shared care after stabilizing. To be honest, this process would put me into debt between psychiatrist titration appointment costs and medication cost over the length of titration. My friend in Glasgow was diagnosed privately like me but he able to bypass the NHS wait list and be given medication through the Adult Mental Health Services in a few months, so he can now receive this for free without paying for the titration period.
From my research and various calls to Community Mental Health Services in Edinburgh, they said this was not possible here and that my only option was to be referred for NHS re-diagnosis (they won't accept private) and be on the 7+ year wait list. How is it possible that access to medication varies so wildly from one local authority to the other? It would be cheaper moving at this point. I'm struggling to see a different way I can access medication without going into debt. It is affecting my mental health and since my diagnosis I realized I really need help to manage this condition. Hoping I can find new information here, it's something I have been researching through various avenues for months without a clear answer as processes vary in each region in Scotland. Thanks

Hi all,
I was looking for a plug-in that would allow changing profile pictures individually on servers without using nitro, does it exist? Where could I make this request to give the idea to have it developed?
Thank you all for your attention, and I look forward to hearing from you.

2024.06.09 12:48 VinylHamster Pride 5k in Iroquois Park costing 35 dollars to join is pretty lame.

Been doing 5k’s and running my whole life and even was in charge of a few with my parents back when I ran across Country in high school. I’m here to say a $35 price tag is too damn high! Lol
Yes, I know you can typically run the 5k without a bib and just accept also not getting a T-shirt or whatever but it’s the principle of the whole thing. I want to show support by joining the 5k not by announcing to a bunch of people that I’m too poor to join. (The irony of saying that sentence in a Reddit post is palpable)
20 dollars is fine, it’s market price for most 5k’s. You make plenty of money as the person running it and it doesn’t gate keep Pride support to only those willing to drop $70 dollars on a 30 minute run in a park that I already run at.
PS. If this run is for charity then make it donation based where you can donate anything you want and say “15 dollars is if you just want to get the headband and medal, everything higher goes to charity.” That makes it accessible to us poors and then also allows a bigger donor to donate anything they want which typically makes the 5k more money anyways. C’mon act like you’ve done this before.
