Has anyone tried hiking long distance or long term with the Altra Mont Blanc? I just purchased these because they're on sale. I also purchased the Timp 5 and for the first time I'm questioning the durability of an Altra shoe (Timp 5). The mesh material feels so fragile and they run smaller and narrower. I've hiked hundreds of miles with Lone Peak 6, 7 and Olympus 5. I know there are some who had issues with these but for me they held up very well. So questioning the build quality as an Altra fanboy is a first for me.
I tried the Mont Blanc in my living room and my first impression is that they feel very comfortable and extremely light. Love the toe room just like other Altra shoes. The build quality of the Mont Blanc seem solid enough but I'm wondering if these can actually work for long term hiking and backpacking when they're made for competitive runners rather than hikers and trail runners.
I wanted to like the Timp 5 that I even purchased 2 of them without even trying them on. I love how they finally released them with vibram rubber soles but don't like how they're narrower and the durability seems to be a concern. So I'm planning on returning the Timp 5 and wondering if I should hold onto the Mont Blanc.

Characteristics I'd love but aren't 100% required：

• Many compartments
• 2 water bottle pockets instead of just 1
• Suspended laptop pocket for extra safety
• Luggage handle pass through
• Big enough to fit 2 laptops if needed （2nd laptop doesn't need its own compartment, but should fit in the main pocket）

For context, I'm using a cheap Matein backpack that I really like. It's a bit under 30L, has a ton of compartments, and fits everything I need. I would love something a bit higher quality though.
I know everyone's going to recommend me the Synik 30. I've looked at it - it checks all the boxes and I will consider getting it if I can't find a cheaper alternative. It's just a little hard for me to go from a 30 buck Amazon backpack to something that costs over 300 USD.

Just a review from an old gamer but noob to SC.
I'd heard this game was a total scam and avoided it for all these years. Maybe it was a bad-deal back then, but now: I'm happy to report that this IS a real game with a lot to offer and a lot to do. It has incredible potential! $45 gets you into SC and that is a great deal!
Where I come from: Halo CE-Reach. Wow/Wc3/Starcraft/HotS/OW. Mass Effect. Deus Ex. Subnautica. . Elite Dangerous. No Man's Sky. Dota2. Helldivers2. Escape from Tarkov (7 years). I love spaceships, FPS combat, hot-rodding stuff, buying/selling/stealing stuff, murdering, rescuing, etc. Love PVE and PVP.
WHAT’S GOOD ABOUT IT:
Visuals. Most beautiful game I've ever seen. Most talented art-team ever. Spaceships, environments, gear. Best ever. Constant state of amazement and it runs great on a PC I built for tarkov (5800X3D / 4070ti)
Sound: Very good! Each ship has audible-personality! Guns sound good, character sounds good. A+ sound design.
Movement: Character crawls, runs, walks, climbs, jumps as you'd expect. Climbing works! Great job here. Would love a slide, but that's being greedy.
Controls: Default controls are intuitive to new players and very configurable. Basically perfect.
Ships: The ships are the star of the show. They are unique, beautiful, ugly, serious, silly, etc. The ships are CHARMING and wonderful. I love my razor, cutlass black & blue, msr, herc, avenger, redeemer, retaliator, and the eclipse (3.22)!
Flight: More involved than No Man's Sky, but simpler than Elite Dangerous. Perfect! (3.22).
Vehicles: Incredible vehicles!
FPS Gear: Great looking suits! Fun weapons. Varied fighting styles. Gear can be dropped almost anywhere.
PvE:
1 - Bounties are fun and can result in cargo to sell!
2 - Mercenary stuff is fun, I hope for more variety in the future.
3 - Running cargo makes sense and works and most importantly: involves risk! Delivery makes sense but pays terrible.
4 - Salvage: Did a session on a reclaimer as a box-stuffer. Boring but lucrative, not a fan.
5 - Investigation: cool idea but forced me to EVA in a wreck and EVA just about made this 25 year gaming + vr veteran hurl.
6 - Pay for all jobs is a bit low given what you can make doing cargo or salvage.
PvP:
1 - Is rarely fair - as it should be in an mmo. Rock Paper Scissors, outnumbering, surprise, and gear all play a part as they should. I can't believe they made space-dayz!
2 - Ruthless - perfect! Winner takes all! Day-Z/Tarkov/Rust players, this is the space game for you!
3 - Piracy. Real actual piracy. You lie in wait, ambush someone, take their cargo, sell it to a fence. BRAVO. No game has ever got this right until SC.
Crime:
1 - Can buy your way out of minor stuff - awesome!
2 - People get bounty missions for you and will wait for you outside the hangar doors: cool!
3 - You can HACK THE POLICE DB AND CLEAR YOURSELF?!? Amazing. 10/10.
4 - Jail - which can be reduced with labor, or more crime, or via escape. Awesome!
The Community. SC wouldn't be here without devoted (and spendy) players who are willing to put up with bugs and problems. Most are helpful in general chat. Some are scary-good at ship to ship combat (3.22). We didn't expect to like SC players as much as we do.
WHAT'S BAD ABOUT IT:
Servers. Servers. Servers. Everything listed above in the good section fails on the regular. You fall through those beautiful environments and die. Your quest bugs and fails or can't be completed. NPCs stand still or hover in space doing nothing or shoot you through objects and you die. Massive desync between players. We have to regularly confirm "ARE YOU ON THE ELEVATOR?!" before we push the button it's so bad. Crashes. So many crashes. Everything good or bad about Star Citizen takes a backseat to the very very poor server performance. People regularly run with r_displayinfo 1 on to monitor the server health - that is NOT good for any phase of a game from Alpha to Beta to finished. THIS PROBLEM CLOUDS EVERYTHING.
Flight (3.23): Completely changed the flight model. Less of a pain for me & my crew since we just got here. We have less to un-learn and re-learn. At first glance though: it seems worse in every way. More complicated without reason in canon or out. More difficult without being more fun. All ships feel less capable than they did 2 weeks ago when we started playing SC. Good ships are now bad etc. I can see why many veteran players who love ship to ship combat are very upset and worried. For now, I avoid ship to ship combat because it seems very broken. Will try again in a few patches.
The Focus: This game has 20 unfinished gameplay loops. There's tons to do but any/all of it may break at any point. It's like every time they have a great idea (and they have TONS of great ideas!) they run off and get it barely-up-and-running, then dash off to the next thing. I've been amazed at all the REALLY BRILLIANT ideas that are 60% implemented in a 10+ year old game...
WHAT'S UGLY ABOUT IT:
The Developers: SC has had a lot of $ come in and many years and it's still very much an alpha. IMO that's a mistake on the devs parts. They could be beta by now, even in this era of 'beta forever' development we should expect more. Focus on fleshing out fewer features and basic functionality, spend more $$ on servers. Get the game to a stable beta - still with some bugs & crashes - but out of Alpha. You have to get out of Alpha. It's been years.
The Devs continue to get away with the weirdest project-management model on earth because of:
The Community: Whether it comes from SC Veterans to noobs like me, criticism is NOT well heard in the SC community. Whatever is in the patch notes is like marching orders from a cult-leader. Any discussion on spectrum or reddit that suggests maybe the game should be more functional by now is met with fervor. It's sad because you guys deserve better than this, and these devs can definitely do better!
Recent examples: Helldivers2 publisher almost forced a bad 'feature' in, the players stood up for themselves and said "NO!" and the devs/publisher reconsidered (and that fight continues). Tarkov was exposed for its absurd level of cheating last year, and subsequently tried to change the rules of purchase & up the price. Tarkov players logged off in droves and the company reversed course (and that fight continues). We did this BECAUSE WE LOVE THE GAME.
You are the customer! SC-Devs are creating this beautiful work of art, but it's a work of art they hope to sell you, therefore: you have a SAY. You can complain, you can criticize, you can dislike a new direction. It won't kill the Devs. It will make the game better!
As of right now, it's unplayable, but I want to defend that a little. 3.23 is a big patch for SC. A lot of back-end stuff seems to have changed, and some major front-end stuff is totally different. I've barely been able to complete a quest, run cargo, fight anything, go anywhere, look in my backpack, or drink a space-gatorade. I've seen this happen with many games from WoW on up to Tarkov.
With Tarkov throwing away thousands of players and untold SCU's of good will, I had this thought: if star-citizen was beta and not alpha, it might have just picked up tens of thousands of players this month. It didn't because it doesn't have enough servers. Cue the sc-beliebers devsplaining why future quantum server meshing technology will save the day and just spending some more of their smaug-horde on servers won't help. ;)

I've been lurking here for a while and watching LOTS of YT vids about gear, in preparation for my first 1-bag 1-person trip this July (interrailling in Europe). I decided of all the options the one I liked best was the PD 30L (in fact 27-33).
Anyway it arrived this morning and although I haven't used it yet I do have a couple of things to say that I haven't seen covered in any of the (many, many) reviews I have read/watched.

1. There is only one quick-grab outside pocket, at the top of the bag, and a lot of reviewers have said it is deceptively small. In fact it is big enough for my kindle, sunglasses, a charging cable and a small pack of tissues, which I think should be sufficient for travelling, given I'll have my phone & passport in a pocket or crossbody bag.

Granted, I haven't done this with the bag fully stuffed so that might change. However if it turns out I need more length I'm prepared to hack it by unpicking the bottom seam and extending the pocket further into the bag lining.
(side note - I haven't read much about people modding their bags - is that not a thing in these parts?)

1. That outer pocket has a safety feature that I didn't know about - on one side of the zip there's a small loop - you can feed the zipper tabs through each other and through this to deter thieves. So that's a nice feature. It would have been nice if they'd done the same for the main zip too.
   
2. The water bottle pockets are snug but perfectly fine for a 0.5L bottle, which is what I usually carry.
   
3. The downward-opening pocket on the front with a magnetic snap - why oh why did they not make it open upwards, as pockets should? The only possible reason is aesthetic - in which case they really should not have bothered. It's a pretty roomy pocket, and complete overkill for the 2 straps provided. And even if you stuff a rain jacket in there I'd be worried about it falling out. So that's the first thumbs down.
   
4. Unreachable mesh pockets on the inside: lots of reviewers have no idea what you're supposed to put in these. I have a few ideas: keys for home, travel docs you don't need on the day, medicines, jewellery.
   

Apart from that, it looks exactly as I'd hoped it would: smart, unobtrusive, and slimmer vertically than most everyday backpacks.
I also got a set of packing cubes from Decathlon which look like they will fit perfectly inside. I look forward to giving you a post-trip debrief later this summer!

I'm new to skyrim and modding in general but I read on load order is important that the game runs properly but I have no idea what or how to exactly sort it properly. Could anybody give a general guideline to follow. Currently whenever i encounter any problems i either do: a) Skip the mod entirely after searching the mods and found it might be too complex to follow b) Reinstall Skyrim and hope for the best c) Enable and disable mods to find out which is working or not working

Hey all! I'm in the market for a medium/large comfortable sling-style bag for bouldering and day hiking trips. I've used an eddie bauer 8L ripstop bag and it's pretty good, but not quite big enough to fit everything and has some things I don't like. I like the sling style because it lets me wear it in the front while carrying a crash pad and easily slip it around behind/access it while hiking, but if moving larger than 8L makes slings not great then a small backpack is probably workable.
What I'll be carrying:

• Guidebook (usually approx 6x8" and thick)
• Chalk bag
• 500ml or 1l nalgene
• Snacks (sandwiches/bars/etc)
• Small first aid kit/hygiene pouch
• Wallet/keys
• DSLR camera in neoprene pouch

Needs:

• Sturdy enough to be set down on rocks/dirt/bashed around without ripping
• If there's an external water bottle pocket, it must be sturdy. I ripped through the eddie bauer mesh in 1 session
• Side zippecompartment to hold a book that's easily accessible on the go / with bag in front
• Available to try on in-store in Canada

Wish list:

• External gear loop(s) sturdy enough to clip shoes to
• Internal zippered pocket for wallet/keys so I don't worry about them accidentally coming out while the bag's unzipped on the ground
• Large comfy strap
• Annoyingly colourful

I have had a North Face Borealis for near a year and spent the weekend with a Osprey Nebula and Quasar. As I didn't see any review comparing them, and actually, any review about the Quasar, I think it's time to share something with the community and not just lurk around here.
Let's start with the Borealis. A well-known backpack, good materials but a very big design flaw that I have only seen mentioned in a review: The admin compartment makes the main compartment so narrow that you can't barely get anything in. It seems that the backpack was designed to only have almost flat items in that compartment, otherwise it results in both an odd humpback shape and the mentioned issue with the main compartment. This is why I was in the market for another backpack.
So, I grabbed these Ospreys from a local store. Some people say they are similar, just the Nebula larger, but no way.
For starters, the Quasar is the bigger of the three. Yes, as you read it. Theory says it has 26L versus the Borealis 28L and Nebula 32, but the main compartment of the Quasar is significantly bigger than the main compartment of the Nebula.
Another difference are the zippers. On the Quasar, they are not protected, so water leaking inside is easier. The Nebula has a cover, which some people say it's an annoyance, but you get used to it after a few times opening and closing it.
The front is different, with the Borealis and Quasar using bungee cords and the Nebula a mesh. Up to preference, but personally, I find the mesh more practical. Now, some people complain that the straps to keep the mesh in place are another annoyance because you need to loosen them to be able to open the main and admin compartments. After a couple of days, I haven't had to loosen those straps to open the compartments, there is enough room. It's only necessary if you want to add some big stuff.
The Borealis and the Nebula have a dedicated laptop compartment. However, the Nebula also has several pockets in that compartment. The Quasar has a laptop sleeve which is bigger than advertised as well. It says 14" but I think it can fit a MBP 16" (15" for sure). The additional pockets in the Nebula's laptop compartment are available in the main compartment of the Quasar.
The admin section is the best and the worst thing of the Borealis. It has enough pockets for organize stuff. Osprey backpacks have a very simple layout, maybe two more pockets would have been better. However, the depth of the compartment sucks, but sucks sucks sucks in the Borealis. It's very small, meanwhile the Osprey go all the way down to the bottom.
In terms of comfort, both Osprey are similar and much better than the Borealis.
In terms of size, the Nebula and the Quasar are similar, with an unnoticeable 1cm difference. The Borealis is noticeably taller.
In summary, for me the best choice is the Nebula, but:

• I would pick the Quasar if I had some use for the bungee cords or I wanted a big main compartment.
• I would pick the Borealis if I didn't care about the depth of the admin compartment, only stored a couple of not bulky items there, or wanted the most external capacity, because the Borealis has the bungee but also can carry stuff on the bottom side with two straps used to compress the backpack when it's not filled.

I have a suspion that its the legacy of the dragonborn but I'm not entirely sure I have no idea what it is also lotdb started playing dungeon music after I did the robbery quest which usually happens after completing it I pulled my load order from loot so maybe one of yall will have the answer also I tried the music removal command but it persists I don't mind lotdb interior music messed up but hearing solstheim music on a loop in regular skyrim is annoying especially the same song over and over again the only thing I did was add community shaders recently for parallax heres my load order

Airport notes:
Obsessed over how to pack small for this trip as there was the 7kg limit. They did not check the backpack weight at LAX, luckily too because I had packed food for the plane and was at 9kg, and the 26+6 became pretty uncomfortable. On the way back it was closer to 7kg, and very comfortable. I was able to wear it all the last day walking around Nadi. They did however check the person’s backpack weight next to us at the bag check-in spot, I guess we were lucky. At the gate they grabbed a couple carry-on suitcases, but didn’t even glance at backpacks. Might have gotten away with a bigger bag but this one worked great.
Made the mistake of packing my neck pillow before security, which meant it touched all the belts and trays on the way in. On the way back I made sure not to pack it until I was at the gate.

Might be controversial, but I’m obsessed with these hanging shelves. Takes up slightly more room in my bag but it’s not bad at all. Whenever I’ll be somewhere I know I can hang up in a closet, I’m taking this thing as it keeps me way more organized and it’s just easier to use than a packing cube. Nice little dirty clothes compartment too. This Biaggi branded one I had to bend the metal shelves to make it not as wide. Before modification it’s about 14”x8”, after bending it’s 12”x7”. I’ll sometimes use my 12”x12” one when using my 40L, but got this Biaggi just for the 26+6.

I have both backpacks right over here, testing them with the usual things I would carry as EDC and also filling them more as if I was traveling for a couple of days.
I can't really decide which one to keep. Both seem pretty similar in terms of size and capacity. In fact, I have the feeling that actually the main compartment of the Quasar is significantly larger than the Nebula's.
Have you tried both and picked one of them? If so, why did you pick it over the other?
UPDATE:
After three hours switching things from one to the other, I think I'm going to stick to the Nebula basically for two reasons:

• Independent laptop compartment with actually enough room and pockets to store other things such as chargers, cables, even headphones (although I prefer to use the secondary compartment for these).
• I rarely use the bungee in my Borealis, so I won't use the bungee in the Quasar either. However, I could use the mesh pocket of the Nebula for beach related stuff (suncream, some toys for my kid, etc)
