The last time I was drunk was the Tuesday after Memorial Day in 2014. Around 11:30 PM, I dramatically up-ended a bottle in the sink and told my spouse I needed help.
SD was one of the places I turned to for help on Wednesday. I'd found SD during one of my many attempts to cut back. I'd occasionally lurk while I was having a drunken, late-night pity party. I could string together a few days clean, moderate for a bit, but my overall drinking spiraled further and further out of control over those years.
SD was an essential tool in helping me get through the first few days and weeks once I stopped. The support, understanding, and knowledge here were invaluable. Seeing someone with a little more time and what they were going through prepared me for the next phases. Those folks with unimaginably large numbers in their badges--triple digits! months!! years!!?--who helped pull others onto the life raft became my heroes, mentors, and, in some cases, friends.
SD grew and changed. I grew and changed. My participation may have decreased, but my appreciation for this place never waned.
I'm here to celebrate, sure, but mostly, I'm here today to say THANK YOU.
I'm here to say that what you are doing can be challenging. Maybe it's the hardest thing you will do in life. Maybe it's not bad, and you just need a bit of additional support. Just trying to get as many opinions as possible bc the people in my life keep giving me mixed viewpoints.
One of my (18F) best friends (18M) is a guy we can call Kevin. Kevin was seriously one of my closest friends, someone who could give me brutal truth and honesty, great advice, reciprocate my sense of humour and talk about any topic to.
Kevin and I first met in grade 8 where he was the new kid at my old school and I was one of his first friends. Kevin and I lived in the same area, which is a trek to my old school, and was one of the only kids my age I knew in that area, so we became fast friends and close. Kevin, at one point in year 9 (ages ago), had a crush on me, but I rejected him bc I knew our friendship was better than that, and nothing of that nature has come up since.
In late year 10, Kevin got a girlfriend, Alanna (now 18F). I’ve moved schools and Kevin is one of the only people I’m still in contact with, and now my only friend who lives in my area, so we continue our friendship meeting up every month or so for a run, coffee and gossip about our old school. Alanna never comes up in convo except when I ask how she is, and he says good, what she’s been up to, end of discussion.
Flash forward to present day, Kevin broke up with Alanna 2 weeks ago bc of undisclosed reasons (I never asked). Kevin is permanently leaving for the Air Force soon so he came up to Canberra so we could meet one last time, so we met up with a few other old guy friends and hung out. A few days later I post a photo dump on insta of activities and photos of my family and friends from the past month, on the very last slide is one of Kevin from that Canberra meet-up. Kevin messages me a few days after the post, saying that it was “extremely upsetting” for Alanna, and to take it down. He continues to say that he should’ve never hung out with me at all during his relationship, bc he did it seeking “validation” and “attention”, which is a wild fucking thing to say, and a bit of a punch to the gut tbh, bc im not a yes man, all I ever did was treat him like I treated all my female friends and I viewed our friendship as a genuine thing and not whatever he apparently sees it as. Anyways, he says “I’m not sure if I can talk to you for quite a while, you’ve been an incredible friend to me, and I hope that everything works out really well for you” which kinda makes it seem like im being cut off for being the toxic one?? And now im just confused, are we no longer friends? And should I be ok with that considering all our friendship was to him was a source of validation and attention? Hi guys. I cried myself to sleep las night wondering if anyone else feels absolutely beyond disappointed in humanity. I almost want to say that I'm disgusted of being human at this point. It seems like the world has forgotten that the whole purpose of being here. I was out last night and I was just in a moment of observation, 99% of the people around me were glued to their phones. It just feels so robotic like we've lost the essence of what humans are. What happened to talking to each other. I remember my younger years of life being so surrounded by people and neighbours and friends and being outside all day and life just felt so real and so alive.
I turn on the news and all you see is mass destruction. The protests in the US and Europe and the situation in Gaza. The war in Sudan as well and so many other places that the mind cant keep track of. The more you dig the more you find that this world really has peaked rock bottom. I don't know how this level we've stooped to can be exceeded. I dont even react anymore to the images of headless children in Palestine and that alone makes me wonder if Im even mentally okay. I feel so privileged to be far away from all of that but that couldve easily been my life and my reality. The absurd videos of IDF soldiers acting like this is all a video game. How did we let ourselves stoop this low as a race. It really feels like this is all building up to WW3 and I'm honestly not even phased by the idea. I often think about Aaron Bushnell and the internal agony he must've felt to set himself on fire. I understand it. I really get it. You see things that are beyond comprehension and you can't justify or give reason. I guess I just wanted to know if anyone else has this crippling feeling of being empty and numb.

I don’t talk to anyone about life with the narc. I want to, but for many reasons, I don’t. Well, I finally decided to talk to a therapist about it.
It feels good to get it all out, but also a bit embarrassing to hear out loud all I have, and continue to, put up with. I feel like I’ve blocked out so much of it and I keep wondering if I’m being too sensitive or making a big deal about nothing, or if I’m doing something to cause it. But to have this big, long list of ways he’s hurt me all laid out there makes it so black and white.
At the end of our session, I asked my therapist if this sounded like narcissism and she said she actually wrote that in her notes. To have someone else validate my experience felt incredible.
Next step, finding out how to manage these situations without losing myself or negatively impacting my family. She said she’ll have some information for me next time, so I’ll share it here in case it’s helpful for anyone.

I have been in a coaching for JEE since 11.I was pretty above average in class 11,I got 19-20 rank in coaching tests consistently. In class 12 students were divided in batches based on how much they discussed doubts.I got in the batch with the people who talked less to teachers because my parents never took me to doubt classes,they dropped me to coaching till the end of 11th,I was too young for learning license .Of course the batch was filled with below average students with only one or two standouts.I was doing pretty good in my batch,almost no competition in the batch,I even topped in my batch once and got 13 rank in my coaching.One day my mother and father took me an event without asking me,I missed one class.Keeping up with the syllabus was already hard enough,after missing that class,I was left writing notes when I should have been solving questions.A few months later I was still doing good but not that good.One day after a school exam,after my coaching I had a pain in my ear,so I went to the hospital with my parents and they didn't even check my ear or anything,strapped me to a bp checking machine and my BP was high.I had only slept 4 hours due to my exam and had just ate before ,bp shouldn't be measured after eating.After that they just kept mocking me if I have girlfriend or something else,they were just looking for a chance to mock me.I never talked to girls but they kept mocking me that if I have an affair then I should tell them,like that would even affect my BP.After that they made me miss 2 more classes,I had to give up on solving questions,I fell behind everyone in my batch but still scored ok in tests.They just kept demotivating me for my marks.It's not like they were perfect ,they dropped me extremely late in every class . In class 11 my mom started teaching in a school,me and father were very supportive of her and after a while I couldn't handle anything,she didn't make breakfast,I had to do everything alone,father kept shouting at her for joining a school when she wasn't there and I had to listen,they never fought directly,they just used me like an anger dump,they never tried physical punishment because I am pretty strong for my age.She left teaching after I begged her to leave it. When I was in class 12 she joined teaching again just after I had started getting good marks,she wouldn't listen to me and my father telling her to not join,our routine was destroyed again and I had to listen to my angry father.Even when I was in class 10 they were very unsupportive and demotivating. I got 86 percentage in class 10 half yearly exam,they then stopped treating me like a human and talked to me like I was their worker or something. I was considering suicide in class 10 ,I planned on doing it when they weren't home. I was holding a razor ,ready to cut my hand,no one was there but my dog,she came to me and wanted food.Then I put the razor back and gave her food ,I knew they wouldn't take care of her if their reputation got ruined by me.Even after 1st JEE attempt ,they just kept demotivating me,I had 27s1 and only got 83.4%ile , second attempt wasn't any better,suicidal thoughts were taking over me again,without my dog I wouldn't be here.I got 90% in 12 boards, atleast they won't bother me about that.In the end about 20 people in my coaching got more than 99%ile and my 19,13 rank and so on didn't matter anymore.I have took a drop and I am already regretting it,at first my parents were very supportive,but just after 3-4 days their deception faded away,they just treat me like I can't do anything.I am still only 17,I have started to walk my dog daily,that helps me a lot to cope.After I get a job, I won't be talking to my parents,I will only come home to visit my dog,even if I get a bad college next year , I am going , I don't want anything to do with these people anymore. JEE wasn't the main culprit,it just revealed their true nature. I will try hard this year to get my dog a better life. Rant ke liye sorry.

Well, I’m not exactly sure where to start since I am not really a reddit user and I have no idea what i’m even getting myself into. Me and my GF have been together for almost 10 months, and although we’re not in our 20s or anything yet, I don’t plan on this being some sort of short relationship, In general, we both do love eachother and love spending time with eachother, we try to fufill each others needs in every way we can but it’s been difficult recently. Throughout most of the relationship the problems have kind of gotten to me, I try my best to be the best partner I can, I text her all throughout the day with random thoughts or what i’m doing and if i’m going to be busy doing something i’ll text her to make sure she knows, I try to always be available to talk or text even if I’m at work, and I also try my best to keep my schedule open for anything that can happen between us, whether she wants to have a little bit of time in the morning before I go into work, or if she wants to spend time together on my days off etc etc. At the same time though she doesn’t really do the same, throughout the relationship there’s been a consistent trend of less and less towards me that i’ve noticed and had multiple conversations about, we used to have all day together and would end up being together until about 9:30/10:00 (at the time she was at her local high school and was not very busy though) and would have normally 3/4 days a week together, throughout that time we would talk a lot and facetime at night (or just call), and she would text me throughout the day (she did always do this weird thing though where I would text her stuff but she just wouldn’t respond to it, she still does it), now we are at the point where we only really have one day a week (sundays), she doesn’t text very much throughout the day and sometimes i’ll be able to call to say goodnight before she falls asleep once i get home from work (9:00PM) but that’s about it. Everything in my brain points me towards her falling out of love or losing feelings, but every time we have talked about it she always tells me about how much she loves me and that she just cannot talk or call because she is exhausted or tired (she’s currently sick with a weird mix of actual sickness aswell as her body responding to old trauma which is causing the exhaustion), but I just can’t seem to accept it as an excuse as even when she wasn’t at a point where she was drained and exhausted every day she still wouldn’t talk much or do very much.
I know this post is kind of all over the place it’s just difficult to try and explain this situation as there’s been tiny problems coming up for about 7 months now and it’s hard to remember very small stuff. I have made it clear to her that i’m not asking her to just suddenly start to completely change her behavior and talk and text me all of the time and all of that, it’s just that 90% of my day she’s not there at all and i’m not apart of her life at all, at the core of it, every time we talk about all of these problems she says that she loves me and that she wants to do this and that but when it comes down to it she only really does it if there’s no excuse whatsoever to not do it. For example, she’s said a bunch that it would be great to be able to just relax and fall asleep cuddling and wake up next to eachother holding eachother in the morning, we used to fall asleep cuddling watching movies but I can’t sleepover very much so that would be short lived, anyways recently we had my prom and her mother said that it would be reasonable for us to sleepover at her house, by the time we were actually in bed and going to sleep she kinda just rolled over and put her back towards me, I tried to ask if we could cuddle or change positions etc etc etc but if we did it would last about 5 minutes until she rolled back over with her back towards me, the day after she just said that it was because she was exhausted and drained from the day but in my mind it just doesn’t make sense, if she says she wants to cuddle and then has the opportunity to do so why wouldn’t she? it’s not just this she does it all of the time, it just doesn’t make sense and it hurts, I tried talking to her about it however she essentially just said that she just cannot due so because of how sick she is. I just need some sort of advice on what else to do in this situation, I don’t have long before college and I cannot be in this relationship if I am going to be ignored pretty much all day and then MAYBE if i’m lucky get to be with her a day or two during the weekend. I’m sure I am missing a lot of information and a lot of the story so I will gladly respond to any replies with more information that’s more directed towards their thoughts / take. Honestly there’s just too many little problems to fix and they’ve only gotten bigger and bigger as nothing has changed for months. I'm 16 female, and my best friend in this story who l'll call H who is 16 male. Me and H run a small business that makes us have to go live on TikTok and sell digital stock, for exp. Drawings, and in game items (we follow tos for all.) when H was live a day ago, he started to talk to one of our Moderators, who I'll call K (female) they were getting along well and when I joined chat I was also starting to get along with them joking around, until they started making sarcastic comments saying I cannot pull, my stock sucks and no one would buy it. And when she made this comment, there was an underlining non sarcastic part. (I'd also like to note, I grew up in a very sarcastic family, and have MANY friends who use sarcasm as jokes, it's never bothered me.) they eventually asked if after live H can play a game with them and our other friend who l'll call A, of course they said yes and H invited me to join, and when I texted him that I wasn't sure I liked her and something was off, he reassured me she was just joking, and he gave her my discord. When we all called that whole call K would not talk to me, and either talked over me or ignored me, eventually, I went silent and just played the game and I was completely silent for a good two hours on this call, without H even noticing I wasn't there. The only one who did notice was A who I'm not very close with, I shook it off, and the next day, today, H and k were calling and I joined, we were all having a good time chatting before K made a remark about my stock again and how no one likes it, and then I made a remark back (note: 1 said this in a JOKING way because I wasn't 100% sure if I was just being sensitive about everything yesterday. Then, I brought up how I didn't exactly appreciate it how far she was going with it because she continued and she apologized ai. said my stuff I sell don't suck, and everything she said to me she was sorry for. Then, H phone died and she started to speak to me telling me about how my stock DOES in fact suck, and she's not sorry for the comments she made to me and when I just said whatever she got upset at me for having a small attitude with her and hung up. When I texted H telling him what she said to me he's responded that shes just joking again. I replied and said even if she WAS joking, something is not right with her I have a bad feeling about her.  | Just had a PSG and MSLT sleep study done last week. The reasons i had wanted to get one was the following: Unrefreshing sleep, chronic fatigue (even if i sleep 10-12 hours), excessive snoring, waking up with red eyes,dry mouth, headaches, cognitive issues, brain fog and occasional heart racing upon waking. submitted by Euph0ria_01 to UARS [link] [comments] At first I suspected possible sleep apnea but was still a little skeptical due to the fact that I use sleep cycle app to track my sleep and it never sounds like I am choking or stop breathing. Ive also never had anyone else tell me theyve heard that, just loud snoring. However, i knew the amount of snoring I was doing and how loud wasnt right. Turns out I have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome according to the PSG. What is crazy is the amount of RERA'S ( Respiratory Effort-Related Sleep Arousals) I had were 107, that seems like a lot! Im really glad to have some answers but at the same time also sort of sad/frusterated that this wasnt determined sooner! Ive been dealing with the fatigue since I was in my teens and im now 31 and it had always been brushed off as depression or that im lazy. Now that ive finally seen some of the right specialists as an adult, I feel im finally being taken seriously and even currently have FMLA time given by a doctor to be used on days when my fatigue is too severe to allow me to work. It honestly all makes sense because some of the main causes of UARS are a high palate and nasal issues.. I have a high/narrow palate due to cleft lip and also just had nasal surgery for deviated septum, nasal valve collapse and for turbinate reduction which sounds like the perfect mix to create UARS. Unsure what will happpen from here..i dont know if id qualify for cpap and am still waiting for MSLT results but I am glad to have an idea of whats going on and will hopefully be able to feel healthiebetter eventually, as I really feel my quality of life has been greatly diminished for too long. It sort of seems like theres not half as much info or understanding about UARS then there is about OSA which makes me wonder how many people are walking around also suffering and misdiagnosed. |

So just for some context here. I am a Canadian 25yr old male living in my parents home. For those of you that don’t live here, you may or may not be aware about how expensive it has gotten to live here recently, and it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better. I work a very technical job as an aircraft mechanic (apprentice currently) and it’s quite high stress and there is a lot of responsibility. When I get more experience the pay will get better but right now I’m only making about 60-65k gross a year, which is less than quite a few other trades make. My mom was getting mad at me because I was complaining about my wage and she said 60k is a good wage to have, but honestly I think she’s living under a rock. 6 figures in this day and age doesn’t even get you ahead, so 60k feels very low to me. She also says I shouldn’t complain because I’m living at home for free so I’m able to save a lot, which I am doing. But I still argue that if I wasn’t able to do that I would be broke with the cost of living/rent, and they won’t be around forever.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m fortunate to live at home and save money and my wage could be worse, but I don’t think my mom realizes the reality young people live in. AITA?

I am just feeling it hard right now. It is summer weather is great but I just ain't feeling it. I gained most of all the weight I lost a couple years ago but have lost about 10lbs since then but I haven't done any gym work since I came back home from college. The remaining friend group I had after high school pretty much fell apart. I have enough stuff to keep me energized and focused but I find myself endlessly looking at reddit and youtube or just listening to music. I have summer class to work on, I wished I would play instruments more/practice, and I frankly haven't done any hobbies outside my comfort zone.
It makes me unhappy and lonely to not even be able to pick up at least my guitar. It has been two weeks since spring semester and I just worry this will be the whole summer. I fucked up my sleep schedule already since I don't want to come to the next day. I am frustrated that at 21 I have not had a real relationship. Which in part is because of my weight even though I had lost 75lbs by the time I started college but like I said gained all of it back and only lost a little bit more. I have harsh family who accuse me of not helping my parents but I do but they are older than dirt and expect me to read my parents mind on what to do, when all they gotta do is tell me and i'll do it. I can't read minds.
I feel intelligent but at the same time incredibly stupid. I don't have that wet blanket feeling like I used to but more of that hole in the hurt and punch in the gut. I wish I could just wake up and do my homework first thing, do cardio and free body exercise, and do other hobbies like instruments. But I just do the bare minimum for myself, I feel so alone most of the day. I feel better when I am helping out the rents or grand rents but that only distracts me for so long.
I know I can't fix the longing for a relationship thing overnight since I wouldn't even have the faintest clue on how to even tackle that even if I was back to my "low" weight. I don't think I am depressed or anything but I just get lonely and wish I had someone or something to do shit with. I don't even hate myself anymore even with the weight gain, I got all that out of me a long while ago, sadly that therapist retired and I don't want to go to some other one. The guy was the only decent therapist out of the handful I had before him. Having one now would probably not make much of a difference, most of the advice and suggestions I already probably know but just don't implement them to help myself.
Like I said the remaining friend group pretty much disintegrated so I have nobody close to do stuff with. Even then a couple of them are busy with relationships or their own problems.
I don't even find that much joy from driving my camaro. It's like what's the point driving the same roads over and over, especially all by yourself it gets old.
I just want to be able to enjoy the weather and sun stress free, worry free, and lonely free.

I have harsh family who accuse me of not helping my parents but I do but they are older than dirt and expect me to read my parents mind on what to do, when all they gotta do is tell me and i'll do it. I can't read minds.
I feel intelligent but at the same time incredibly stupid. I don't have that wet blanket feeling like I used to but more of that hole in the hurt and punch in the gut. I wish I could just wake up and do my homework first thing, do cardio and free body exercise, and do other hobbies like instruments. But I just do the bare minimum for myself, I feel so alone most of the day. I feel better when I am helping out the rents or grand rents but that only distracts me for so long.
I know I can't fix the longing for a relationship thing overnight since I wouldn't even have the faintest clue on how to even tackle that even if I was back to my "low" weight. I don't think I am depressed or anything but I just get lonely and wish I had someone or something to do shit with. I don't even hate myself anymore even with the weight gain, I got all that out of me a long while ago, sadly that therapist retired and I don't want to go to some other one. The guy was the only decent therapist out of the handful I had before him. Having one now would probably not make much of a difference, most of the advice and suggestions I already probably know but just don't implement them to help myself.
Like I said the remaining friend group pretty much disintegrated so I have nobody close to do stuff with. Even then a couple of them are busy with relationships or their own problems.
I don't even find that much joy from driving my camaro. It's like what's the point driving the same roads over and over, especially all by yourself it gets old.
I just want to be able to enjoy the weather and sun stress free, worry free, and lonely free.
If you read this, thanks, I think I just needed to vent out how I am feeling on paper. If anyone has any words of wisdom thanks.

So it mentions in the game that Josh had an incident in 2006 that led him to being referred to a psychiatrist. Does anyone know what that incident is or if it's just to give some background to his character? I'm guessing the latter but I do remember reading YEARS ago that the "incident" was him stabbing another student in the hand with a pair of scissors/ a pencil after they "provoked" him. That could be fanon, but I mean, this would give double meaning to Josh saying "Live and Learn!" before punching Ashley if she decides to stab "the psycho" with the pair of scissors. In actuality, I think he just accidentally left them lying out lol but ANYWAY. I don't think Josh is inherently and meaningfully violent (hence him talking about how his prank was to "bring people together" and his friends would "love it" in the end. Meanwhile, he was literally gassing people thinking it's harmless since no one "died". At least not by his hands, they certainly did by the Wendigos) so idk, but he does let his emotions control him that's for certain and his reactions tend to be big, the Ashley scenario being a good example (the reason behind that could be related to many things, but that's another can of worms). Though I can't say I wouldn't get pretty upset and react badly if I got stabbed... not that that was right since Josh had the one up here

The first one was very niche and didn’t have a very large demand so my Facebook ads didn’t do very well. I didn’t have thousands of dollars to run ads everyday for a month so instead I was spending 50$ a day for about a week and while I did get some sales from the second day, the CPA was too high and I was losing money.
Since, I enjoy creating these stores, I made a new one. And now I’m not quite sure how to actually get customers. Before I start running ads I just wanted to ask y’all if you think the store above had real potential of making me money or if I need to change things.
Most importantly though, how should I run ads? I was considering doing advantage+catalog ads. Just one campaign with the ad being my product catalog, and add a cost cap of 15$ so that I just don’t burn all my money. Obviously I don’t really have a lot of experience so if anyone has advice please point me in the right direction. Also almost all my clients from my first store came from the UK, personally I live in Canada, do you have any recommendation as to where I should target starting out or if I should target several countries.

I’ve really enjoyed using my three CPTs with boosters and display to smoke briskets and pork butts, roast chickens and roast the Thanksgiving turkey. It’s an incredibly useful, well-designed and well-built family of products.
Except for two things: lack of charge indication and reliability of MeatNet.
Chris has explained that a special chip would be required in order for the CPT to report its charge state, and it isn’t compatible with high heat environments. I can live with that. So far, I haven’t had an instance of a CPT running out of charge during long cooks going well over 12 hours. But when I asked why the booster doesn’t have charge indication, Chris said it just didn’t make the cut for the first generation of hardware. OK, but this weekend my overnight Memorial Day cook was nearly ruined due to lack of information about booster charge, and maybe a problem with MeatNet.
Here’s what happened:
I smoked a brisket point and flat, separated, with CPTs in each cut. Before the cook, I pressed the button on each CPT’s booster and got a green light, so I knew the probes were fully charged. The meat went in my Kamado Joe ceramic grill, and I put a booster on a cabinet about six feet away. I put the other booster on a table indoors about 40 feet away. I took the display and my iPhone to the bedroom, about 40 feet from the second booster. I set the iPhone to Never Lock and brought up the CPT app so I wouldn’t miss the prediction alarms (learned to do that the hard way.) I set the CPT predictions to 180F to catch the end of the stall, at which time I’d think about wrapping. One of the CPTs set off an alarm at 180F. I decided not to wrap, and reset the predictions on both CPTs to 200F, at which time I‘d wait until they hit 203F and remove the cuts for a long hold.
The alarms never went off. Luckily, I happened to awake in time to see in the app that both cuts had reached and slightly exceeded the target temp. But both CPTs were not connected, and the display was showing they weren’t connected. I rushed to the smoker with a ThermoPen and was relieved to find that the two cuts weren’t far over the target temp of 203. One was at 205F and the other was at 208F. The texture of the cuts was good (wabba wabba) and a ThermoPen showed temps weren’t too far over target over most of the meat. I took the meat off for a long hold.
What happened? It didn’t take long to discover that both boosters had run out of charge. Given the last temps shown by the app, I guess I was lucky to awake shortly after the boosters ran out of charge. I’m puzzled why display and/or iPhone didn’t directly connect to the CPTs in the ceramic cooker when the boosters ran out of charge. The total distance was less than 75 feet. Is it necessary to have a MeatNet relay close to the CPTs? I’ve been doing that, but I thought the range was better. Is the distance significantly reduced when the CPTs are inside a ceramic grill? If this is the case, I think I should put the display, which has a much larger battery, near the ceramic grill so the iPhone can stay connected anywhere in the house.
So, why did the boosters run out of charge? The last time I can be sure I charged the boosters was about month before, after smoking a pork butt. I did one cook after that, a roast chicken last week. At the time, I pressed the buttons on all three boosters. Two lit up green, and one didn’t light up at all. Seemed like that shouldn’t have happened in 2-3 weeks without using the CPT. In fact, I had seen this once before, but I didn’t mark the booster that had run out of charge earlier than expected. So I charged up the one that had run out and left it on my desk with a different CPT to see if it would happen again (I wanted to rule out a problem with the CPT.) When it came time to do the brisket cook on Memorial Day, the booster in question showed green when I pushed the button, which meant the CPT was still charged. Of course, that didn’t tell me what state the booster battery was in, but I had to get on with the cook so I aborted that experiment. I thought I had charged the boosters after the roast chicken cook, but maybe it was only the booster I was testing.
It’s possible I have one booster that can’t hold a charge, but it’s also possible that all three of my boosters have problems holding charge. It’s also possible I have one or more CPTs that draw power from the booster too often. After all, my CPTs and my boosters are early production models. I need to do some careful experiments to figure this in out, and the lack of any charge indication for the CPTs and boosters is going to make that very difficult. One idea I had is to use a USB dongle I have that reports mAh delivered. That might give me some info by showing how much charge a given booster can take.
I’d appreciate any advice for setting up experiments to determine if I have bad boosters and/or CPTs.
Beyond that, I hope Combustion will consider a Gen 2 booster with charge indication (fine if it’s in the app.) I will probably replace my boosters if that happens (though a trade-in deal for early adopters would be nice.)
Recently, someone posted about Combustion offering a charging dock for CPTs. After this weekend, that idea appeals to me, too. The ability of the boosters to keep the CPTs charged would be superfluous (the plain charger would do), but it would still be worthwhile for keeping the boosters charged for use in MeatNet.
The other problem I’ve had is frequent disconnects. It’s worst in my Breville Combi Wave oven, but I’ve chalked that up to the amount of metal between the CPTs and boosters, and maybe noise generated by the Combi Wave electronics. The CPTs do reconnect eventually, but sometimes it can take several minutes. I can get through a roast chicken cook (oven, not microwave), but the disconnects are annoying. Most of the time I don’t get lots of disconnects when using CPTs in the ceramic cooker. They can go hours without disconnecting. But I do get them. The CPTs eventually reconnect, but it‘s annoying. Perhaps this happened as the boosters charges were winding down to zero.
Oh, one more issue: After setting a prediction, sometimes I couldn‘t get back in to change clear the prediction. When I tapped the prediction section, it would display the food safe page. Then, sometime later, I could tap the section and change or clear the prediction.

Was traveling from the airport to home in Hyderabad yesterday. The driver was speaking on the phone with his wife and spoke in a language I did not understand. I asked him what language it is, he said it was Lambadi, and he is ST. (I did not ask him anything other than the language details).

A little bit later I asked him why he voted for BJP, he said that there were many things like Modi built Ram Mandir, got the Kashmir thing resolved, and was tough against China. I had a confused face when he said China, so he confirmed that Modi got an app banned belonging to China.
A few minutes later, I asked him where he got his news from. Apparently, from social media, and TV news which repeats the same set of information over and over. I said, I have a family (who were in the cab with me), and I worry about things like education, health, infrastructure and leaving a better India for them, so in that case BJP did not deliver for me. His response was that those things will take care of themselves, but Modi did things for the country and he's proud about it. I brought up things like the covid issue and how it was handled. Apparently the actor Chiranjeevi donated a lot of oxygen during the crisis. I asked him if oxygen, and health should be the government's job as every 100 rupees we earn, 30 is taken away for tax, that should've been put to use.
He apparently did not know about Draupadi Murmu, our president who is from SC/ST. I told him that she wasn't invited to the Ram Mandir event. I think he got disappointed with that as then he said that all politicians have to bring politics in between and not worry about the people. He also said that he voted for Congress in the state election because apparently KCR was good in his first term, but got very arrogant in his second term.
Overall, it was a respectful discussion. I did not get the pushback about Congress at the centre and I told him that there are no great leaders but voting should be for the people. He also knew about climate change with the Dubai flooding and heatwaves but not the whole phenomenon as to why it is happening. The thing about voting is that it is mostly a collective decision within societies and cliques and once the support turns, the mood changes within the community and they vote together.
I wish I had this discussion earlier before he voted, and I hope that the driver will look at things differently. With friends and family, this type of discussion would end up in shouting lol.

I apologise for the long post but I just need to get this off my chest
I (21F) was talking to a guy (21M) for about two weeks, we clicked really well and we had so many amazing conversations. We would talk for hours on end, even staying up until 3-4am. He was an amazing listener and really wanted to know about me and we talked about our childhood and I opened up about my past.
We had plans to go on a date irl this week. Well, last night we were discussing how crazy we were in high school, and he proceeds to say “I’m so glad you were a dork and not one of those girls who slept around.”
I proceeded to respond with “that’s true but I definitely made some bad decisions as a teen.” I thought I could say this because he said he really liked me and would never judge me and wanted to know everything about me.
He says “wait- you’ve slept with different guys in high school?” And I said yes, why does that matter? I’m 21 now, I was 16-17 then.
He said “welp there it is” and refused to elaborate what he meant.
I kept politely asking him to elaborate and speak in sentences because he started giving only 1 worded responses when I said I was confused what he meant. He then randomly goes “do you think you would make a good girlfriend then?” and I was utterly confused as to how random that question was.
He then said he lost instant attraction to me because of what “I did as a teenager” and I said that was pretty strange, that he would by bothered by what I did as a literal child in the past. He admitted it was a personal problem he had to work on, and I expressed the fact that i understood that, but I wish he let me know earlier on or at least was kinder in reaction.
Here’s where it gets worse. He proceeds to imply that I was throwing myself at boys for attention back then, and I explained, uncomfortably that I did what I did because I was sexually assaulted more than once and it was sort of a coping mechanism because I didn’t want to feel anything anymore.
He says “oh my ex was raped so I know what it’s like.”
And then he says, “well it doesn’t matter what your reasons were, it’s a turn-off and your actions still have consequences. And you still chose to do it when you had choices.”
At this point I was just… shocked.
Lastly, he said “my ego was huge” because I was defending myself and telling him that he’s out of line and being really disrespectful and hurtful considering I never even met him in real life, refused to agree / understand him.
He just kept calling my ego massive when I kept saying he’s being inappropriate and I’m shocked he would say something like that about a very sensitive topic considering how kind and understanding he had been in the past few weeks.
I don’t even know what to think. I’m just really sad. This was my first “real” connection in over a year with a guy and I was very excited to meet him and it ended like this.

I’ve had GP for at least 15 years now. Over the last 5 or so it’s been more annoying in my life. I manage with diet, though my nutritional status leaves something to be desired. However, the unthinkable happened…I got appendicitis.
A week ago I had surgery, but things have been miserably slower since. There was a delay in getting surgery. (I was misdiagnosed once again with CHS, by an ER doctor who refuses to believe I have gastroparesis, and colitis, despite my records. He tried to send me home still vomiting. He didn’t even order a full set of labs, and ignored my super high white cell count.)
I spent a full week in the hospital getting IV fluids and potassium. I’m doing Miralax to keep things gentle…but I’m having very few bowel gurgles. I’m not hungry. Liquids are about it for now.
Other GP folks who needed surgery, how long were you flaring up after? I plan on talking to the surgeon and my doctors tomorrow, but I’m curious what others have experienced.
