2024.06.09 18:18 elvisdepressedlyTN Genius idea or completely naive?

Ok ok, question! (Genius idea or completely naive?). Hope this is allowed here!!
COULD I LAMINATE 2X4'S together to achieve enough structural integrity to support live loads?
Use case: 18' X (up to) 32' lofted bedroom suite with king size bdrm, 2 (shallow walk-in) closets, double vanity bathroom with shower only. This lofted room will be inside my concrete block commercial warehouse which has only 15-16ft ceilings. I need a solution that achieves the minimum viability for an overhead structure that takes up the least amount of headroom possible underneath so that I can have acceptable headroom both up top and down below. Down below will house a studio/flat style open great-room for living/dining/cooking spaces.
I'm ok with some thicker beams (even steel... Preferably steel?) that take up more headroom under the floor so long as the spans are decent enough to not feel too claustrophobic.
I've thought about laminating 18' 2X4'S together along with possibly doing steel cabling or 'allthreads' to create like a tensioned slab (if that makes sense).
I wanna know should I/could I just make these laminated 2x4's into joists that to be spaced apart OR should I/could I just make like a massive 18' x 32' 2x4 butcher block laminated tensioned floor slab to rest of some sort of steel beam/post structure???
Answer and explain it to me like I'm 5. I can build anything but don't quite understand load charts and such...
Any thoughts?

2024.06.09 18:06 camawan What's your Xero size and foot length?

My feet are 25.5 cm in regular Adidas sneakers I typically wear size 42.
I've tried Xero prio in both size 42 and 41.5 and I think the 41.5 feels slightly too snug but I saw a Xero size chart which mapped 25.5cm to EU39.5 / US 6 1/2...
This is my first pair of barefoot shoes so I got a bit confused and unsure if I got the sizing way off.
To the Xero wearing people in here. What's your foot size and what size xeros are you wearing?

Title.
AP I use 1.1.3 as fine all the way up to 1.3.5 as coarse. Primarily light roasts and some medium.
V60 I use 1.5.5 as fine and upto 2.1.0 as coarse.

2024.06.09 13:16 Neralet Some hopefully useful resources for 3rd (and possibly of use for 1/2 as well, even if just inspiration)

I was chatting with u/AsrovaakMikosevaar about some resources, and then got distracted (sorry) and didn't post them - so trying to fix that. But then I thought that these might be useful for other people too, so decided to put a post together for them
We run a modified version of 3rd ed - more a "3.5" if you will, for a number of games ranging in style from Pink Mohawk to Black Trenchcoat and some Mirrorshades. Along the way we've changed some stuff to suit us, and what we saw as some issues with how the game played. It works for us, YMMV - but even if you don't like all of it, maybe some of it will suit your table.
Magic We expanded the number of metamagic techniques to add some interesting flavour and extend some things to make them more useful (like we never, ever, found anyone using Anchoring, as we don't think the rules would work for any sane mage - but when you add additional levels to it, then it becomes much more useful. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/hxvehg176a2fdipjgpflm/Metamagic-techniques.pdf?rlkey=jabtvgtezm868cnms35461ee1&dl=0 A PDF showing the layout of the techniques, which are pre-reqs for others, what the limitations are etc.
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dae13b0o7x7er79hhkq30/Metamagic-techniques-rules.pdf?rlkey=o7ctutlkppirme8mx4jwzafsf&dl=0 The rules in a summary form, good as a quick reference, including all the new stuff we invented - we got fed up searching through the SOTA books and trying to remember what was in the core book, what was in MITS and what was in some other splat book - so they're all in here, along with a reference to their rarity (which we assigned based on our needs, tables - so whatever works for you!
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/aw8mbf97q1u8w20r0qvit/Types-of-magical-characters.pdf?rlkey=p227kikq74x2n7nd3pokk9bnm&dl=0
A series of slides showing the choice between various different types of magical characters, and their build point costs (again, modified for our table - change to suit yours and how much you want to run magicrun!
NPC https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dl7snaoxmlunzd5lxqvvf/NPC-Quick-generator.xlsx?rlkey=ny8kxz34z22be4xfta0y1z314&dl=0 A very simple NPC generator in MS Excel - press F9 and it will generate 3 random NPCs, if you ever need to sprinkle in a quick bit of flavour. All the data is from tables in the 2nd tab, which can be extended to suit your purpose. I often find that even if I read one of these and think "that's not right for this area", it's enough to nudge my neurons to understand why it's not right and then riff off of that into something better - good for getting the creative juices flowing.
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/mq90zophv6b9zcd8qoozg/The-percentage-of-the-population-that-has-implanted-ware.docx?rlkey=lyawq13hfsxaq6bpulg4d4x9y&dl=0 A couple of page document with my thoughts on how many people in the world have cyberware, and of what type - trying to work out what is "normal" and what is not.
GM Aids
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9mxwpbwmuau7zkr3uyc7n/SR3.5-Combined-calculators.xlsx?rlkey=rhj9ydlu7t9tzh2yued9t6zd3&dl=0 A bunch of calculators in Excel, that covers a variety of stuff that I find useful in my games. There's a table of contents in the file, but briefly: Speed, distance and time convertors - put in a tilt-wing's speed in metres per combat turn, and the distance from one smuggler stop to another, and it will tell you what the flying time is. Ramming damage - a quick lookup chart to save working it out mid-combat Ammo - a bunch of new ammo types we invented, alongside all the regular stuff in a handy lookup table (can be easily filtered to exclude the custom stuff) Healing calculator - works out the TN and time to heal wounds for different circumstances Skillsofts - works out the size and cost of different chips, along with the street costs Totems - a list of all the shaman totems from the core rules, MITS and all the splatbooks I could find, along with advantages and disadvantages. Phys-ad powers - as above, along with a bunch of custom / fan made stuff that add lots of flavour. Weapons - as above again, along with a whole chunk of custom creations to suit our campaign needs and add more options. Many of them are *not* great, or super weapons - but the stuff you might find on cheap guards. Great for providing a less-lethal alternative for starting players to run up against! Summoning - both normal and invoked spirits, with target numbers and drain codes Magic groups - TNs for designing different magical groups and recording strictures etc Magical design - ordered list for designing spells and learning them Warding - gives you size of buildings and max possible warding size calculations Countries - details of borders between countries, radar ratings etc. Still very much a WIP
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/x9rwklh367n2bmk0wedao/02-Lifestyle-master.xlsx?rlkey=uq6h9jtfx0ncowhrhcon737wz&dl=0 Lifestyle calculator, using the expanded rules
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9algxhhs0mzajccx26msf/01-Master-character-sheet-v2-19.xlsx?rlkey=9zr6yppj815a44m4j51ks3bp7&dl=0 Character sheet generator. This is what I use to generate all of my characters, and ask most of my players to use. It's an excel sheet, with a whole bunch of "modules" that can be dragged into position, to allow you to build pretty much most characters you might want to play. Like the other sheets I have, there's a data tab, so you can see and amend the source data for drop-downs and add in your own data if you wish. It does a bunch of the calculations and lookups for you. In some ways it's like a simplified version of Chummer - but I think it provides a niceneater output, that is easier to work with and keep up to date.
Hope these prove useful to someone - happy to answer questions or get feedback on them.

2024.06.09 13:13 mekanor A Cosmere Visual Reading Order Guide

A Cosmere Visual Reading Order Guide
I know there are already a ton of different reading orders out there (Warbreaker Order anyone?), and mine isn't anything drastically different, I just needed something a bit more visual and digestible. I look at a list of 25+ books, short stories and graphic novels and my eyes glaze over.
I would always choose to divide a series as daunting as this into more manageable chunks, so this is what I've tried to do visually. It's basically series together order, but I've grouped the standalone books into their own little series. A bit of freedom of choice is always nice too, depending on what you're in the mood for, and this chart accounts for that as much as possible as well.
https://preview.redd.it/0y4tdy9t4j5d1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=ecbbdaa606aab8baac14662dcafd173a88b7270a
Once you've had a look at the chart, here are a few more thoughts on why I've done things this way:
(a.) I know Mistborn is generally regarded as a great place to start (including by BrandoSando himself), and I don't disagree, but I am convinced that 'Standalone Block 1' is the perfect Cosmere starting point on multiple levels. You could hand someone Elantris, The Emperor's Soul and Warbreaker and tell them to read them in whichever order takes their fancy, and if the Cosmere is even vaguely their kind of thing, they're going to have a good time. This block works as a starting point for the following reasons:
  • Elantris is literally the first Cosmere book released. What better place to start than the beginning? It is also the least refined (maybe not quite the right way of saying it but you know what I mean) book on the list (again due to it being the first published), however it is still a lovely story, and you're going to get maximum enjoyment out of reading it early without having to compare it to more polished later entries. A good place to start.
  • The Emperor's Soul is outstanding. It is also nice and short, but incredibly tightly packed. An excellent bite-sized introduction to the Cosmere if you start here.
  • Warbreaker is heaps of fun and very representative of Sanderson's style distilled into a single self-contained novel. If you enjoy Warbreaker, there's a good chance you'll enjoy the rest of the Cosmere. Another excellent place to start.
  • Aside from each of these three books being great starting points, this block also requires the smallest financial commitment. You only need to buy Elantris and Arcanum Unbounded. Warbreaker is available online for free. Arcanum Unbounded also includes every short story and novella (other than Dawnshard), so you're covered on that front right from the start too.
  • You're also only committing to a single book at a time, rather than a whole series. Each book in the block stands independently from the others so you're free to float in and out as you please
(b.) I know the Secret History placement is controversial. It has advocates for both placements and ultimately I had to pick one. I've included a footnote to let people know that there are benefits to both placements and you're going to enjoy the book either way.
(c.) I realise there are a few Stormlight references in The Lost Metal that you would miss if you read Mistborn Era 2 first. I don't think they are anywhere near major enough to say that the whole Stormlight Archive block is required reading for Mistborn Era 2.
(d.) Tress could be safely read much earlier, but given that it (along with Yumi and Sunlit) takes place in the future, it makes sense to leave it in the block at the end.
I'm pretty settled on the placement of everything in the chart on the whole, but I'm not completely sold on the Eleventh Metal and Allomancer Jak. I originally had them after Final Empire and Shadows of Self respectively. Happy for suggestions and feedback on these two (and anything else on the chart in general).
Enjoy!

Chanel espadrilles (black lambskin) from shoesstore100 on DHg
Hi, newbie here wanted to share my newest purchase, repfluenced by WDYB thread on WL.
The shoes are well made, lambskin is buttery soft. Comfy enough to wear, but only been wearing them around the house so I can’t say how it is for longer use. They are quite stiff.
Usually size EU 39.5-40 and ordered size 41 as per store’s size chart and they’re spot on. Paid AUD 120.71 (include shipping, minus DHg new user discount). Took less than 3 weeks from ordering until I received them (Australia).
I’ve never seen the auth in person but looks ok from my untrained eyes when comparing them to auth photos on resell websites. What do you think?

2024.06.09 09:55 Dry_Ad_3372 Lazada — How difficult is it to return an item?

I have initiated a return immediately after receiving the item (a pair of shoes) because it didn’t fit unfortunately. The merchant has misleading size chart that led me to receiving the incorrect size, and suggested I file return. Anyway that’s beside the point.
Lazada customer care (bot) said I can’t raise a return/refund request due to the ff. reasons:
a. the order has already exceeded valid return period b. the product category of the item is non-returnable
Their policy is ridiculous because I have filed the return request on the day I received the item and also they have 30-day free returns.
I would like to know if anyone has experienced the same?

I'm a big fan of the Arctic Shield Heat Echo Sherpa Jacket - it's like a warm embrace on those chilly hunting days. The jackets provide excellent insulation, making sure I stay toasty. It's also incredibly lightweight, so even with its added bulk, it never holds me back during my hunting expeditions.
The craftsmanship of this jacket is top-notch. Every detail, from the elastic inner wrist cuffs to the drawcord bottom hem, screams quality. Its durability is truly impressive; it's been through many a thorny bush and came out unscathed.
I also appreciate the Retain Active breathable heat retention technology. This helps maintain a comfortable internal temperature even during strenuous hunts. Plus, the quietness of the Sherpa fleece exterior ensures I don't scare away any potential prey.
The only minor drawbacks I noticed were the size being slightly smaller than expected, and one of my jackets came with a faulty zipper. However, these were minor inconveniences compared to the overall comfort and functionality of the jacket.
In conclusion, for anyone looking for a warm, lightweight, and durable hunting jacket, I would highly recommend the Arctic Shield Heat Echo Sherpa Jacket. It's one of my go-to hunting gear essentials!

I've been using this Drake MST Camo Camp Fleece Jacket for quite a while now, and let me tell you, it's fantastic! The moment I put it on, I could feel its warmth and comfort. It's lightweight, which means I don't feel weighed down during my hunts. I also love the left chest vertical Magnattach pocket. It's perfect for keeping little essentials like my keys or even my phone secure. The zippered, lower slash pockets are a great touch too, providing extra storage while keeping my hands warm.
One thing I particularly appreciated was its flexibility. Despite being midweight, it's also suitable as a layering piece during extremely cold conditions. The anti-pill treatment is another added bonus. It keeps the jacket looking fresh even after months of continuous use.
However, one minor con is that the pockets could be slightly deeper. I sometimes find myself struggling to retrieve larger items. But overall, I highly recommend the Drake Waterfowl MST Camo Camp Fleece Jacket in Mossy Oak Habitat for hunters who value comfort, flexibility, and style. It's definitely worth the investment!

🔗High Performance Water-Resistant Fleece Hunting Jacket

I recently got my hands on the Large Mossy Oak Break-Up Country Kenai Berber Fleece Jacket, and let me tell you, it's become a staple in my hunting gear. The first thing that caught my eye was its water-resistant fleece lining - it kept me nice and dry during those unexpected showers.
One of the standout features for me has been the anti-microbial and silver-ion scent prevention technology. As someone who spends hours on end in the field, this has been a game-changer in keeping my scent under wraps. The YKK zippers along the front and pockets also provide a secure closure, making sure my essentials stay safe.
However, one minor issue I noticed was that the elastic binding at the inner cuffs could have been slightly tighter for better insulation. Nevertheless, this doesn't take away from the overall experience of using this jacket.
In terms of durability, I've been very impressed with the quality of materials used, especially the YKK zippers and Durafex buckles. These have been tested in real-world conditions and definitely live up to the hype.
In conclusion, the Large Mossy Oak Break-Up Country Kenai Berber Fleece Jacket has been an excellent addition to my hunting gear. Its unique features, such as the scent prevention technology and water-resistent lining, make it a must-have for any serious hunter.

I recently got my hands on the Realtree Men's Wav3x Jacquard Fleece Hunting Pullover Sherpa, and boy, is it a game-changer! This versatile piece of clothing has become an indispensable part of my hunting gear. The soft, lightweight polyester fabric is not only comfortable but also retains heat incredibly well, making it perfect for those chilly early mornings in the woods.
One feature that I absolutely love is the 1/4 zip design. It makes putting on and taking off the pullover super easy, especially when you're in a hurry prepping for a hunt. Moreover, the Snap chest pocket provides ample space to store essentials like ammo or even my smartphone, ensuring I remain connected even amidst the wilderness.
However, I must say the chinguard collar and the inside storm flap have truly been a lifesaver. They've effectively shielded me from harsh winds and unpredictable weather while out on my expeditions. Additionally, the available colors are just spot on - they provide camouflage while also looking stylish!
In conclusion, I would recommend this Realtree Men's Wav3x Jacquard Fleece Hunting Pullover Sherpa wholeheartedly. It's not just another fleece jacket; it is technical apparel that allows me to spend more hours exploring nature's beauty. A valuable item worth investing in!

I've been using the Drake MST Guardian Flex Eqwader 1/4 Zip Fleece Jacket for a good while now, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer in my wardrobe. The combination of water-resistant Guardian Flex materials on the upper torso and arms with the ultra-breathable fleece in the lower makes this jacket a true all-rounder. Whether I'm out on a cold, windy day or just need an extra layer, this jacket has never let me down.
One of the standout features for me is the 1/4 zip closure, which makes it easy to adjust the fit on the fly. The no-water cuff closures are a nice touch as well, ensuring that no drafts sneak in and keeping me dry even in the toughest weather conditions. The updated fit also allows for increased range-of-motion and improved comfort, making it perfect for long days outdoors.
The array of pockets is another strong point of this jacket. With two Time & Motion Magnattach call and whistle pockets, two zippered chest pockets, and two zippered lower pockets, there's plenty of space to store all of my essential gear. And speaking of pockets, the magnetic closures are a clever touch that makes it easy to access my belongings without fumbling around.
Of course, no product is perfect, and there are a couple of minor drawbacks to this jacket. Some users have reported that the bottom elastic seems a bit flimsy and could use an upgrade to a drawstring type. Additionally, the water resistance could be even better, though it's still more than adequate for most purposes.
All in all, I would highly recommend the Drake MST Guardian Flex Eqwader 1/4 Zip Fleece Jacket to anyone in the market for a versatile, high-quality outdoor garment. It's well made, comfortable, and performs exceptionally well in various weather conditions.

🔗Fjallraven Abisko Lightweight, Quick-Drying Cap for Hiking

https://preview.redd.it/nc5yvezihh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d653b09f5f793c1feb4a3233c2958b30a8b9221
When I first tried on the Fjallraven Abisko Hike Lite Cap, I felt the perfect blend of lightweight and sturdy. The cap was designed for outdoor hiking and trekking, making it a perfect choice for my adventurous nature. The stretchy fabric made it comfortable to wear while the adjustable strap allowed for a snug fit.
One of the standout features of this cap was its quick-drying ability. I found myself constantly sweating on hot summer hikes, and this cap easily absorbed the moisture and dried within minutes. The well-ventilated fabric kept my head cool and breathable, which was a big plus for me.
The cap's lightweight nature also made it easy to pack and carry without adding too much weight to my backpack. I loved that I could easily store it in my pocket when I didn't need it.
However, I did notice that the cap was not completely perfect. The logo on the front was a bit too small, making it less noticeable. Plus, the material was not as durable as I would have liked, with some fraying around the edge.
Overall, the Fjallraven Abisko Hike Lite Cap was a great choice for my outdoor adventures. Its lightweight and quick-drying capabilities made it perfect for hot summer days, and the comfortable fit made it an enjoyable addition to my outdoor gear. Though it had its flaws, the pros definitely outweighed the cons.

🔗Fjallraven Organic Trucker Cap with Mesh

https://preview.redd.it/cw9xmpfjhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=137282a7bfcc9edad882f93be205e63941802d39
When I first tried on the Fjallraven Vardag Långtradarkeps trucker hat, I was immediately drawn to its comfortable fit and lightweight construction. Made from sustainable, organic materials and recycled polyester, this cap is perfect for both sunny hikes and everyday casual wear. The adjustable snapback feature allows for a customizable fit, and the mesh back provides excellent breathability during warmer activities.
One of the key highlights of this trucker hat is its sturdy G-1000 fabric, which gives it a modern, structured appearance while still maintaining a low-profile look. The classic Fjällräven logo on the front adds a touch of style, making it a fashionable and functional accessory for outdoor enthusiasts.
However, there are some downsides to this cap as well. I found that the sizing can be quite tricky for those with larger heads, as the size range only includes S/M and L/XL options. Unfortunately, the L/XL size didn't fit me as snugly as I would have liked, leaving me wishing for a more tailored fit. Additionally, the hat stains easily, which can be a drawback for those who want to maintain its appearance over time.
Despite these minor issues, overall I am quite satisfied with the Fjallraven Vardag Långtradarkeps trucker hat. Its combination of sustainable materials, comfortable design, and stylish appearance make it a worthy investment for anyone looking for a versatile and eco-friendly hat for their outdoor adventures.

The Fjallraven Classic Badge Cap is a stylish addition to any outdoor lover's wardrobe. Made from the durable G-1000 Eco fabric, which is a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton, this hat provides both comfort and style. The iconic fox logo adds a retro summer camp vibe, and the adjustable buckle ensures a perfect fit for all.
However, those who prefer a full brim might find the flexibility a bit limiting. Nonetheless, this hat's hard-wearing nature and classic design make it a favorite among hikers and fashion enthusiasts alike.

🔗Fjallraven Urban Exchange Specialized Bucket Hat

https://preview.redd.it/5jns3r7khh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e36f5011ef7f1a7fa0918c1efdfaf053f5229f40
I recently came across the Specialized x Fjallraven Hat, a versatile piece that's perfect for my daily commute. The combination of 65% polyester and 35% cotton in this hat makes it lightweight and breathable, while the short, soft brim offers great protection against the sun without being too overwhelming.
One of my favorite aspects of this hat is its adjustability, as it's fitted to my head perfectly, and it won't budge even on the bumpiest of bike rides. The hat's style, inspired by a classic bucket hat, gives it a fun and sporty look that is suitable for both casual and biking activities.
Although I haven't had any issues with it so far, I noticed that its sweat-wicking mesh liner might not be the most effective – particularly in hot conditions or after a long ride. However, this has not stopped me from enjoying the comfy fit and casual feel of this Specialized x Fjallraven Hat.

🔗Fjallraven Tab Hat for Stylish Urban Cycling and Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/1e3to2dkhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2db58e3d75eb2c3ba2c7505c643df0d88cbb5616
Sometimes, finding the perfect cap can be a challenge. However, after trying out the Specialized/Fjallraven Cap, I now know what it's like to have the ultimate urban riding and adventure companion.
Its soft and packable G-1000 Lite Eco Stretch fabric makes it easy to store when I'm not riding. The 180-degree reflective stripes not only look cool, but they also provide extra visibility when I head out on a night ride.
And the mesh sweatband keeps me comfortable while I push my limits. The co-branded logo on the front adds a touch of style.
Overall, this cap has become a trusted friend for both my daily commute and weekend adventures.

🔗Fjallraven Expedition Latt Cap - Lightweight, Warm, and Windproof

https://preview.redd.it/620helqkhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92ce2333b32eea863e662edfa5fa9d947b8636d9
I recently tried out the Fjallraven Expedition Latt Cap and I must say, it's a game-changer for those chilly winter mornings. The cap is both warm and lightweight, making it perfect for my outdoor adventures. The lined earmuffs provide excellent wind protection, and I appreciate the option to fold them away when the temperature rises. The soft fleece lining is a nice touch, adding a cozy touch to this cap.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The fit was a bit snug for my taste, and I wished there was an adjustable band so I could customize it to my preference. Additionally, I felt it was a bit too dark for my liking.
Despite these minor issues, I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance and durability. Fjallraven's commitment to producing high-quality, environmentally friendly products is evident in this cap. It's definitely a worthy addition to my winter wardrobe.

🔗Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap: Durable and Versatile Adventure Gear

https://preview.redd.it/bx7ptt4lhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b136e474d8ba1f130444b5839cd9bb04f979c9f9
I recently tried out the Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap in black, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts. Made of the robust G-1000 polyester cotton fabric, this cap perfectly balances protection from the sun and rain while also offering a comfortable fit. It's lightweight and versatile, making it perfect for any adventure, no matter the season.
One of my favorite features is the adjustment at the rear, allowing for a custom fit without any hassle. The folded leather logo adds a touch of class to the cap, showcasing the brand's pride in its product. The G-1000 fabric is truly remarkable, with its combination of polyester and cotton giving it both durability and breathability, while also ensuring wind and water resistance.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. First, some users have mentioned sizing issues, so it's essential to measure your head carefully before making a purchase. Second, the cap may not be the best choice for individuals who need to wear their ponytail through the cap. Nonetheless, these issues do not detract from the overall quality and performance of this cap.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a high-quality, stylish, and practical cap for your outdoor adventures, the Fjallraven Singi Trekking Cap is a fantastic choice. It may not be the cheapest option, but for the price, it's worth every penny.

🔗Durable Fjallraven Eco-Friendly Tab Hat for S/M

https://preview.redd.it/dfx6x5glhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad9ef66747cf3dc14b263491f740930bb0806abb
As a hat lover, I was excited to try the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Langtradarkeps Cap. The blue color really popped, and the G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco material gave it a premium feel. The adjustable closure on the back made it perfect for my head size, and the logo on the front added a bit of style.
One feature that stood out was the material's eco-friendly nature, with 65% polyester and 35% organic cotton. The mesh on the sides and back made it breathable, allowing my head to stay cool and fresh even on hot days. However, I noticed some wear on the mesh after a few weeks of daily use.
Although the adjustable closure made it comfortable and easy to wear, I did find the size range a bit limited. I would have liked to see some options in between the S/M and L/XL sizes. This is a minor complaint, as the cap itself still fit well and looked great.
Overall, the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Langtradarkeps Cap was a comfortable, stylish, and eco-friendly option that I enjoyed wearing in my everyday life. Despite the limited size range and slight wear, I would still highly recommend this cap to others looking for a durable and fashionable option.

🔗Comfortable Waterproof Fjallraven Kiruna Sun Hat

https://preview.redd.it/92382qvlhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49a4c54da5b99fa59ea7a088061e0f81b995f0f3
The Fjallraven Kiruna Hat in Laurel Green L is a stylish and functional everyday hat that offers excellent protection from the sun and rain. The hat is made from durable and water-resistant G-1000 original fabric, making it perfect for outdoor activities.
One of the best features of this hat is its medium-wide, soft brim that provides all-round protection while still being foldable to fit in a pocket when not in use. The Fjallraven logo in leather adds a touch of elegance and durability to the hat.
I've had the pleasure of using this hat in my daily life, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The material is of high quality, and the fit is just right. I've had no issues with wind or rain, and the hat has held up well despite the occasional use.
While the hat is generally well designed and comfortable, I did notice that it runs a bit loose for some users. I would recommend getting the size that is most suitable for your head to ensure the best fit. Additionally, the hat is a bit on the pricey side, but I believe the quality and functionality make it worth the investment.
Overall, I highly recommend the Fjallraven Kiruna Hat in Laurel Green L to anyone looking for a durable and stylish hat for their outdoor adventures.

🔗Fjallraven Ovik Knit Hat: Ethically Sourced Wool Tab with Ribbed Edge and Leather Logo

https://preview.redd.it/pxh2eobmhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36eec4eacd935f72798cc43eccdc4ddb3a8b83bb
I recently added the Ovik Knit Hat Navy to my daily rotation, and I must say, the experience has been quite pleasant. The hat's design is inspired by Fjällräven's popular Övik Knit Sweater, which really caught my eye - the patterned knitting adds a touch of personality to any outfit.
One of the key features that stood out to me is the high-quality wool used in this hat. It's not only cozy but also ethically and responsibly sourced, which is a big bonus. This winter-ready hat has a ribbed edge and a small leather logo on the side, adding an extra touch of style.
The fit of the hat is a bit snug, but I've come to understand that this is by design to provide better insulation. It may take a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll appreciate the warmth it provides. The hat's one-size-fits-all concept may not be perfect for everyone, so it's essential to consider your head size before purchasing.
Overall, the Ovik Knit Hat Navy is a stylish and warm addition to any winter wardrobe. The Fjällräven brand delivers another quality product, and I'm happy to have it in my collection. Just be prepared for a snug fit and keep in mind that it's not a traditional skull-cap fit. Other than that, it's a great pick for those chilly days.

🔗Insulated Wool Hat for Cold Days

https://preview.redd.it/qz9s1fnmhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04d23be48aefcf56a16fb8874473b6821f8988ec
I've fallen in love with the Fjallraven Tab Hat during my camping trips and hikes this winter. Folded over at the bottom, this hat allows for cozy warmth on colder days.
The classic ribbed style adds to the comfortable feel and the Arctic Fox logo on a leather patch adds a touch of style. The one-size-fits-all hat in Alpine Blue is both versatile and practical, keeping the chill off and fitting perfectly.
However, be cautious of accidentally shrinking the hat by putting it in the dryer, as it may become unwearable.

🔗Fjällräven Foldable Wool Beanie - 1960 Logo

https://preview.redd.it/lokqvezmhh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cdb1c6677374a7ac015bc1d3db846122ababff1
Last winter, I found myself in need of a warm, durable beanie for my daily commute. I spotted the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Hat and decided to give it a go. The first thing I noticed about this beanie was its timeless design and elegant chalk white color. It was a stylish addition to my winter outfits, perfect for both men and women.
What stood out to me was the high-quality, ethically produced wool used in making this beanie. Not only did it provide delightful warmth, but it also felt sustainable and traceable. The foldable edge offered extra protection, while the double-layered knitted construction provided even more insulation. The iconic Fjallraven emblem on the front added a touch of class.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks to this beanie. Firstly, the tag seemed to be a bit tricky to remove, and I had to cut it off using a seam ripper. While it might seem silly, it was frustrating, especially considering the brand's reputation for quality. Secondly, one reviewer mentioned that the hat was a bit thicker and bulkier than expected, which might not be ideal for some people.
Overall, my experience with the Fjallraven 1960 Logo Hat was mostly positive. It offered comfort, style, and warmth, making it a great addition to my winter wardrobe.

🔗Fjallraven Singi Field Cap: Ear Flap Tour Hat with Fleece Lining (Black)

My experience with this Fjallraven Singi Field Cap was truly a delight. The polyester and cotton blend give this cap a soft and warm feeling, perfect for those chilly winter days. The ventilating properties of the water-resistant G-1000 fabric helped to keep my head dry from sweat, while the fleece lining made sure I was comfortably warm.
One of the most noteworthy features of this cap was the inbuilt wire that allowed me to shape the brim. This not only made it sturdier but also made it easy to stow away in my pocket when I wasn't wearing it. The ear flaps were a great addition, especially in windy conditions, and the elastic closure on the back ensured the cap stayed firmly on my head. The black color gave the cap a sleek look and paired perfectly with my outdoor camping gear. Overall, it was an excellent cap that I have continued to use whenever I'm out there enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

Recently, I had the chance to sport the Fjallraven Badge Langtradarkeps Cap. It's like bringing a cool, comfortable companion along for any adventure. This cap, standing out in my collection, is perfect for those balmy days and chilly nights alike. The Fjallraven brand, known for producing eco-friendly, durable goods, has outdone itself with this cap.
This cap is all about the balance; it's got this classic, cool vibe with a high-rise front, and yet it's got this mesh back that keeps air circulating. I'm a fan of the embroidered badge design in an eco-poly blend - it's both functional and stylish.
As for sizing, it's just right, offering a snug fit thanks to the adjustable snap closure at the back. The cap sits neatly on my head, avoiding any slips. However, one drawback is that it might be a bit too large for some users, so sizing down could be a good option.
Overall, it's a hat I wouldn't leave home without. Even when it was put through some rought handling, it held its shape nicely. Not forgetting the compliments it garners, it always turns heads in a good way.
From the brand known for quality, this Fjallraven Badge Langtradarkeps Cap is a winner in my books. Yet its not without the potential small issues. But for me, it's a hat with more pros than cons, making every stroll more comfortable and trendy.

Size and Fit

Fjallraven Tab Hats come in various sizes to ensure a proper fit for different head shapes and sizes. Measure your head circumference (just above your eyebrows) to determine the right size for you. Most Tab Hats are adjustable, allowing you to tighten or loosen the hat to achieve the perfect fit. Be sure to check the product specifications or size chart provided by the manufacturer to find the best fit for you.

Design Features

Fjallraven Tab Hats have several design features that make them functional and stylish. These hats often have drawstrings or other adjustable features to ensure a snug fit and protection from the elements. Some hats also feature a brim that can be folded down to provide additional sun protection or a casual look.

Functionality in Different Weather Conditions

Fjallraven Tab Hats are versatile and can be used in various weather conditions. The water-resistant G-1000 material helps keep your head dry during rainfall or moisture buildup. However, these hats are not designed to protect against extreme cold or heavy snowfall. Consider the climate you will be using the hat in and choose the appropriate materials and design for your needs.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your Fjallraven Tab Hat, proper care and maintenance are essential. The G-1000 material should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap. Waterproofing the hat with a suitable wax or treatment may be necessary to maintain its water-resistant properties. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions to extend the life of your Fjallraven Tab Hat.
Fjallraven Tab Hats are a popular outdoor accessory that can provide comfort, protection, and style during your adventures. When purchasing a Fjallraven Tab Hat, consider the materials, size, design features, and the specific weather conditions you will be using the hat in. Proper care and maintenance will ensure your hat remains functional and stylish for years to come.

2024.06.09 07:22 LemonTheSour iHeartRaves Size Guide

Does anyone know how accurate the iHeartRaves size charts are? They seem all over the place and inconsistent, and it seems to suggest I'm a 3xl for certain clothes when I'm normally a large for everything, does anyone have any advice?

2024.06.09 06:48 waterborn234 My first job was working at Canadian Tire

My first job was working at Canadian Tire. Canadian Tire is a Canadian store that sells tools, camping stuff, automotive, kitchenware, hand and power tools.
People would often bring me bolts and screws, and ask me to match the size. There was a measuring chart, I could screw the bolts into threads and it'll tell me the size.
I read the measuring chart wrong every single time, I didn't notice this for 4 months. Which means, for 4 months, I would send every person home with the wrong screws/bolts.
To the hundred or so guys who made the trip to Canadian Tire, only to arrive home with the wrong sized bolts, I am sorry.

2024.06.09 06:28 pinkglittersparkles2 Second opinion on ER visit

Background: 40F, diagnosed with obesity, PCOS, asthma, past with anemia, various mental health concerns. Had a sleep apnea test years ago that was normal.
Saw my PCP recently with concerns….awful, never ending heartburn even on drugs like Pepcid, so bad I’m throwing up during the day, getting heartburn from water and pills and waking up during the night gagging on stomach acid. Can manage on Prilosec, but I was concerned that PPIs are not good long term, but was told “Eh. It’s fine. See GI” so I have an appointment scheduled.
Then, I’m super concerned about my weight. I’ve gained about 50 pounds in a year without much change to my appetite and eating habits. That’s after 4 months on Wegovy where I ate next to nothing and lost 3-4 pounds when you’re supposed to lose that a week.
I was just told “Well you’ve just got to lose weight. I know it’s hard…” along with a referral to a dietitian.
I left crying and didn’t even talk about the shortness of breath I was experiencing because I just felt so defeated.
I’ve been experiencing shortness of breath for several months. I chalked it up to recovering from Covid, asthma, not being strict enough with asthma meds (they’re expensive), allergies, but it’s only continued to get worse. I’ve been working on small things to try to get my weight more under control (like always) in the meantime…
But….I noticed yesterday that I was really struggling to breathe. I got in bed and had trouble kissing my husband because I couldn’t breathe. I realized I woke up several times during the night gagging and gasping for air.
Woke up this morning, felt meh and ate something small, journaled and watched some Netflix. Next thing I know, I wake up four hours later after falling asleep upright on my couch, tv on, light on. I had a ridiculous headache, was very much tired and fatigued and my feet were swollen, double their usual size.
I felt scared and went to the ER to get checked out, worried about heart issues, retaining fluid…that sorta thing. My ECG and heart rate showed nothing abnormal on my Apple Watch if that is significant.
Long story short I was sent home with a referral to pulmonology (a call I’ll have to make) to see about sleep apnea or asthma stuff.
And here I am, looking at the test results on MyChart and I’m not convinced that there’s nothing wrong…especially since I’m just sitting here on my couch, same temp in here as always, sweating with a 100 BPM resting heart rate (elevated for me).
First…the BNP Peptile - EDTA plasma test was elevated. It was 247.7 pg/mL. Nothing I’m Googling says that is a good thing, especially mixed with other symptoms.
I was also told that my chest x-ray on my lungs looked fine, but my heart seemed a little large on the X-ray, but they couldn’t get that good of a look, but I shouldn’t worry about it. But the chest x-ray reading doesn’t seem exactly “normal” either.
And with the ECG. The world “abnormal” is mentioned a couple of times…and that doesn’t seem “normal”…but I’m not a doctor.
Please, please. I feel so defeated and ready to give up. I know I’m fat. But I am completely miserable. This can’t just be from being fat.
My daily medications include: Prozac, lamictal, Trazadone, atenolol (for anxiety, not high blood pressure), Metformin (I’m not diabetic; I take it for PCOS and preventative blood sugar management), Lipitor (small dose)….and I think that’s it. I’ve had my gallbladder removed in 2019. No other surgeries or autoimmune conditions or anything. No cancer history. Mom died at 50. Dad has had prostate cancer along with blood pressure issues with no diagnosis.
Willing to answer whatever questions needed, except my exact weight in numbers.

Lengthening a Pattern
I’d like to make this pattern but the skirt shown is too short for my taste. Could I easily lengthen it by several inches? I’m a beginner sewist- I’ve only done little things around the house, this is my first clothing project.
Also, my measurements are wildly in between sizes on their chart (bust-hips-waist). How should I choose a starting measurement and do you think it would be hard to flow between sizes? My bust is 46”, waist 36.5”, and hips 47”.
Thank you!!

🔗Breathable Hunting Waders with Insulated Boots and Durable Outer Layer

https://preview.redd.it/z0c3t7zotg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94b32924f2f18d4b7658fa9e67ba8a41faf817f7
As a waterfowl hunter, I'm always on the lookout for a durable but breathable wader that can keep me dry and comfortable on those long hunting days. That's why I was excited to try out Cabela's 4MOST DRY-PLUS Breathable Chest Hunting Waders for Men.
From the moment I put them on, I noticed how spacious and comfortable the chest area was. The 4-layer waterproof/breathable upper combined with the 4MOST DRY-PLUS technology kept me dry and protected even in the toughest hunting conditions. The 1,200-gram 3M Thinsulate Insulation in the rubber boots provided the perfect amount of warmth for those chilly days, while the 900-denier abrasion-resistant nylon outer layer on the knees offered an extra layer of protection.
One feature that really stood out was the versatile shoulder straps, which allowed me to adjust them in different ways for optimal shooting comfort. The wader safety belt also helped ensure a snug fit. The large pass-through handwarmer pocket with its soft fleece lining was perfect for keeping my hands warm, and the storm-flapped storage pocket kept my essential items securely in place.
However, there were a couple of downsides I encountered. The sizing seemed a bit off, with some users reporting issues with the fit. Additionally, the boots seemed to be smaller and of inferior quality compared to previous models.
Overall, Cabela's 4MOST DRY-PLUS Breathable Chest Hunting Waders for Men proved to be a durable and comfortable option for waterfowl hunters, despite the occasional fit and quality concerns. With a few tweaks, these waders could be even better for those long, brutal days spent in the outdoors.

🔗Big and Tall 3.5mm Neoprene Wader for Hunting Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/khuwhp8ptg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb12485ca2b15ed18defed517530f96fa23719a2
I recently had the chance to test out the Frogg Toggs Men's Amphib 3.5mm Neoprene Bootfoot Wader, and I must say, it was quite the experience. This wader features 3.5mm premium neoprene construction, which is stitched, glued, and taped for dependable protection. The adjustable neoprene suspenders with hook-and-loop attachments provide a secure fit, and the zippered, flip-out security chest pockets come in handy for storing essential items.
One of the standout features of this wader is the 600-gram Thinsulate boot with a wool felt midsole and a cleated outsole. These boots kept my feet warm and dry even in cold and wet conditions. The zippered pockets also made accessing my hunt essentials quick and easy.
However, there were a few drawbacks to using this wader. While the wader itself is quite roomy, the shoulder straps seemed to be a bit too long for my frame. Additionally, the sizing seemed to run slightly larger than expected, making it a bit tricky to find the perfect fit.
Overall, the Frogg Toggs Men's Amphib 3.5mm Neoprene Bootfoot Wader is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable and warm wader for their hunting adventures. With a few minor tweaks to the sizing and strap length, this wader could be even better.

🔗FISHINGSIR Waterproof Men's and Women's Chest Waders for Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/gvwdgolptg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e59bb6b9e35c0ff4f9848ecc54f2130eb4727d91
These FISHINGSIR Waders have been a game-changer in my outdoor adventures. The upgraded nylon with two-ply waterproof fabric keeps me dry and comfortable, even in the harshest conditions. The adjustable suspenders and quick-release buckles make it a breeze to put them on and take them off.
But, let's be honest, there have been a few hiccups. The waders are a bit tricky to clean and the sizing can be a bit hit-or-miss, so I had to refer to the size chart before making a purchase. However, overall, these waders have been a reliable companion for my fishing and hunting expeditions.

🔗High-Performance Breathable Fishing Waders

https://preview.redd.it/1ir79ewptg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f487404052f3eefeae97d654386c988afee7a59b
The Paramount Deep Eddy waders have been a game-changer in my fishing adventures. The 4-ply nylon fabric upper is both durable and breathable, ensuring my comfort and protection from the elements. I especially love the double reinforced lower legs, which have held up well during my fishing sessions.
One of the standout features for me is the zippered box pocket on the chest, designed to fit both large and small fly boxes. This has made it easy for me to carry all the essentials while out on the water. The large pass-through chest pocket is another great plus, offering even more storage space for larger gear.
The deep Eddy's wide suspenders with ATTACHMENT POINTS for nippers, tippet, or hemostats have been a handy addition. The adjustable 2" wide elastic belt provides a snug and secure fit, ensuring I stay comfortable throughout my fishing trips. Lastly, the ergonomic booties with 4mm thick, soft neoprene provide a comfortable and non-bunching fit, keeping my feet warm and dry.
While there are no significant cons to mention, I did notice that the dry zipper on the front pocket is not entirely waterproof. However, this minor detail did not detract from my overall experience with these waders. Overall, the Paramount Deep Eddy chest waders have been a fantastic addition to my fishing gear, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and comfortable waders for their next adventure.

🔗Durable Finntrail Waders for Comfortable Fishing and Working

https://preview.redd.it/58vcgmbqtg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dacfb03d376e6ad7f229756ada1913aad166319
I had the opportunity to give the Caddis Northern Guide Breathable Stockingfoot Wader a spin, and I have to say, it was quite the experience. Right off the bat, I was impressed by the comfort - these bad boys fit like a glove! The breathable material allowed me to wade through my day without feeling like I was carrying around a pair of lead boots.
One feature that I particularly loved was the Duo-pocket and attached breathable gravel guards. These little extras made my time spent near the water a little more enjoyable, as I didn't have to constantly fight off pesky stones and debris.
However, there were a couple of downsides to my experience. The first was the sizing - I found the ankle dimension to be a bit on the snug side, which made wearing any pants other than sweats a bit of a challenge. The other issue was the durability - I noticed a few small leaks after a couple of wears, which was quite disappointing.
All in all, I would recommend the Caddis Northern Guide Breathable Stockingfoot Wader for those looking for a bit of comfort and style in their aquatic adventures. Just be prepared to spend a bit of time tweaking the sizing and patching up any leaks that may arise.
