I remember the night I died and saw the Bardo.

2024.05.21 14:21 Puzzleheaded-Corgi22 I remember the night I died and saw the Bardo.

There are some kinds of wisdom only great suffering can bring. I remember my time in the Bardo with this in mind, for otherwise, the memory might drive me insane.
The night my heart stopped for nearly three minutes started off normally enough. I was working as a nurse in the psychiatric ward at a hospital in the state’s capital. Most of the patients there were harmless, mostly just suicide attempts or people suffering from drug psychosis or severe depression, but some were actively dangerous and certainly psychopathic in every sense of the word. The new admission was one of these- a three-hundred pound black man with a long history of smoking PCP, schizophrenia and violent, psychotic breaks from reality.
His eyes looked like flat pieces of slate as I walked in for my shift. They looked as blank and emotionless as the eyes of a doll. He sat at the table in the front room where the patients ate or played cards, alone under the bright fluorescent lights of the hospital. I walked to the station, where another psychiatric nurse named Ricardo was sitting behind the desk.
“What’s the deal with the new guy?” I asked him. Ricardo looked up, his dark Spanish face forming into a deep scowl. He ran his fingers through his jet-black hair nervously.
“He’s trouble, man,” he said in a crisp accent. “He got in a chase with the police and then punched some cops in the face. It took three guys to take him down, even after he got maced and tased. The judge sent him here on a temporary court order, since he claims he’s been getting chased by Nazis in UFOs, and that’s why he ran from the cops. He thought the cops in their uniforms were actually the SS, and the helicopters were alien spacecraft, or something. I don’t know, I didn’t listen to the whole story.”
“You have his file?” I asked. Ricardo leafed through a stack of folders with his thin fingers, snatching one out and handing it to me. I looked down, reading the information:

2024.05.21 14:06 KatashaMercury Chris Alvarez Live: A Transcript

Christopher Alvarez:
Going to do a quick live. If you haven't already, go to my stories and read the article I just dropped about the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef.
It's been a wild ride, a wild weekend, and today is Monday. Like we say in Spanish: [I don't speak Spanish.]
Today has been a day where I have been forced to reflect on many of the things that happened to what started on social media and it wasn't a very exciting weekend for my family because they were concerned for my mental health and well-being.
The article that dropped kind of explains that Drake and Kendrick and all of the other celebrities that I have had the courage to connect with, they are great moments that I've lived in my life and that was a time when we were -- I was a kid, you know, just being a fan, living life, meeting my idols.
But nothing happened that night. All these accusations that Drake raped me, that Drake paid off some big money to make me stay quiet or like the Post article. Like, on that I have nothing to hide. I'm an open book. That's what I've told everybody my whole life.
I kind of write down the struggle of being a disabled person and I would never put anyone in harm's way. I understand that these comments on social media have hurt a lot of people because they have messaged me and I'm sorry to them.
I'm sorry to the Mark Hotel for the bad publicity that they have, that they've obtained.
I'm sorry to the security guard at the Mark Hotel for getting fired.
None of this is fabricated. I don't have any intention to bash anyone. It's unfortunate that this is the reason that I have to go live, this is the reason that I have to connect with my fans because I have to apologize for something that I have no idea how I got involved in.
So, I wish everybody could just put this aside. Look forward. Because that's what life is about, you know? Life throws you a lot of curveballs but it's how you get around it and it's how you make the best of every situation and I hope this predicament is an example of how obstacles are never too big for me to overcome and this is just one of them.
Thank to anybody who's texted me kind words. Thank you to the Brooklyn Eagle for giving me the space, the opportunity, to share my side of the story. If you haven't already, go and read it. And I'm gonna go answer some questions in a little bit so go ahead and type whatever you want to know.
Okay, so, no, I was not on drugs. I'm not --
3 AM, yes, 3 AM. So what? It's New York City, baby. We party. It's the city that never sleeps.
No, Drake did not pay me. I'm okay. Nothing happened between Drake and I, nothing bad happened. We were just hitting it off, like a fan, as someone who likes music, and he’s got some great, great music coming out so stay tuned.
What else?
I guess that's pretty much it but I wanna say I know there have been some news outlets clearly like [???] who have tried to turn this debacle into something that it’s not. I don't think that's the right way to go about it. We should all reach out to the source before posting something. That's what I learned at Columbia journalism school. [Study to be right, to be best?]
What else do you want me to say?
It's been real. It's been real, guys. Thank you for the support. Thank you for everything. Keep reading. I'm gonna keep posting stuff as a journalist because that's what I do. I make people pay for doing bad things. So, those who are private entities or public officials, I make them pay. I make them own their word.
What other articles? I'm working on an article about [Miami pools?] shutting down so I think that’s my next article. I should have something coming out Friday night so stay tuned to that page, as well. If you don't follow me: journalvarez, that’s my professional page. Just like my Twitter handle which I think you guys, most of you guys, have figured out and started following so whether it's for the good reasons, or the right reasons, stay tuned.
I don't really keep up with what's being dropped by those Twitter users. I don't really know what else has been leaked so I can't comment on the audio of the puppy or the dog, whatever people are texting about. This is something that was brought to my attention by a friend. I don't follow beef. I don't really care about the beef from anyone because I live life happy, every day. Life is too short to hate. [So, gotta do that justice?]
I wish Kendrick and Drake all the best going forward. Hopefully they can hash things out. And keep reading the article. Thank you for this [?], I'm out.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
[Moonshine?]
Woman:
Do you want to answer questions, or no?
Chris:
I’m out. [??] Everything goes so fast.
Woman:
I know. They're asking if you got paid. They're asking who came in the room, I don't know what that - I don't know where they got a room from. “Did you see the altercation with the security?” What puppy? That’s our dog. Okay.
Chris:
That's my dog.
Woman:
Let’s see… “Don't lie,” okay. “Was Drake kind to you?”
Chris:
Drake is always kind to me. He’s [??] guy and I can't say anything wrong about him or any other celebrities that I’ve come in contact with.
Woman:
“Did he slap you?” Answer’s no. “Were you paid?” No.
Chris:
I was not paid. I was not slapped. I was not abused. Nothing happened that night except just two guys enjoying some music.
Woman:
They want to know why you said to the person to DM you
Chris:
Yes. I will address that. That person said that there was a New York officer who paid Ebony Prince to make all this nonsense up. I just wanted to talk to her about what else she knew but apparently something is going on with her page so I never DMed her cause the page, the DMs weren't showing up
Woman:
Okay. “Why were you with him at 3 AM?”
Chris:
3 AM, I mean… it’s the morning. I know it's late, but New York is the city that never sleeps and people party hearty here in New York
Woman:
“Is Drake innocent of these accusations?”
Chris:
Drake is innocent and should not be slandered.
Woman:
“Why were you liking comments earlier?” Do you want me to answer that? You got it?
Chris:
I like… Everything I do on social media has a second intention and I like comments to create suspense, whether it's pertaining to, who knows what the comment is talking about.
Woman:
Yeah, they're asking about the comments. Okay. “The fact that the nurse answers those two means she's lying.” I don't know what nurse you're talking about. Okay. “Hospital after that date, everything okay?” Did you go to the hospital?
Chris:
I don't think so.
Woman:
I have no idea.
Chris:
I went to the [?] hotel in Brooklyn the night after.
Woman:
Yeah, okay.
Chris:
I like the ice. I like the cold.
Woman:
“He got a little girl as a present from…” I have no idea what that means.
Chris:
Wait, what?
Woman:
They said that you got a little girl as a present, which is fucking weird
Chris:
Stop, stop doing that.
Woman:
Stop what? Cursing?
Chris:
Don't curse.
Woman:
Okay, no cursing.
Chris:
I'm a [?] guy, I don't curse.
Woman:
He said “What's the benefit to answering crazy allegations like this?”
Chris:
There's no benefit, you know. I'm not a guy who likes to feed people what they like to hear but this was a specific scenario where my family and my friends would be harmed and I needed to come out.
Woman:
Okay, wait…
Chris:
What else, what else?
Woman:
“Someone talking in Spanish to him in the background…”
Chris:
I'm Spanish. I'm from Colombia. Colombia [???]
Woman:
Okay. Sorry. I think that's it.
Chris:
Wait, go back, go back.
Woman:
Oh, go back?
Chris:
To “the article do--”
Woman:
Oh, “the article doesn't seem consistent,” I guess
Chris:
What part of the article is not consistent? Let me know. Type your thoughts.
Woman:
Yeah, be more specific about this so-called inconsistency. “What's on the lobby video?”
Chris:
I have not seen the video. I have seen a screenshot of my face that's clearly me at 3:19 AM leaving the hotel after Drake and I had a good time listening to beats.
Woman:
“Chris, did you ever see Drake around any minors that night?”
Chris:
That night, I never saw him with any minors.
you let me know, okay? Because we’re [??] to tell them to get away from me because I like to be independent.
Woman:
Okay, good.
Chris:
What else?
Woman:
“What is she reading?” I'm reading the questions, guys.
Chris:
That’s my assistant. She'll be reading questions because y’all type too fast.
Woman:
Yeah.
Woman:
Okay.
Woman:
These are just comments.
Chris:
I don't know about the second guard. I know about one guard. [??]
I usually [?????]
Woman:
It says “You said it was just you two but we see multiple people in the picture?” Or in the video, I guess.
Chris:
I have only seen one picture and it’s me and this [blurred out?] guy in a red hoodie and I have no idea who that is.
Woman:
Okay. It’s too many questions. “Do you know who this Ebony person is?”
Chris:
I would like to find out who he is and trust me that the journalism guy in me will get to the bottom of it.
Woman:
Okay, they keep asking why the guard was fired.
Chris:
The guard was fired for letting me into the hotel. I had gotten to the hotel an hour before Drake arrived.
Woman:
They're also asking if you had to sign an NDA.
Chris:
I don't sign NDAs. Nobody controls me. I am my own man and I know when I have to speak up.
Woman:
Someone said “Where can I read the article?”
Chris:
Go to brooklyneagle.com. Go ahead, I'm on the front page.
“You’re making up your own questions to check.”
Woman:
I saw that, but I'm not. “Did you meet Drake’s dogs?”
Chris:
No. I did not meet Drake’s dog. I don't like dogs. I have a dog because it’s my sister’s but I don't mess with dogs.
[J???] get out of here.
Woman:
Oh, [J???]’s here.
Chris:
[J???], get out. You don't want to be here.
Woman:
Yeah, they're saying your ventilator sounds just like the beginning of 6:16. I will say I listened to that and it sounds nothing like the ventilator. I don't know where people are getting that from.
Chris:
The ventilator is the reason why I can't hear. It’a too loud.
Woman:
[J??] says “Hola.” Hi, [J??]
“Why were there police there?”
Chris:
Police are always there to protect the celebrity.
Woman:
“Why were you following underage kids,” you already answered that.
Chris:
Okay. I guess we’re done, guys. Thank you for keeping up. Thank you for following. Thank you for supporting, those of you who have [?]. Keep reading the article. Brooklyn Eagle, if you haven't already. I will be on my social media more, obviously, because you guys are commenting. So, I will be on the lookout for anything in the comments that needs to be answered. Thank you. Have a good night. I’m out.

2024.05.21 14:02 ThrowAway7s2 "Teacher from Columbia is Helping Spanish classes" from the October 9, 1969 Door County Advocate

Teacher from Columbia is Helping Spanish classes

If the attendance in the Sevastopol high school's Spanish class has picked up during the past six weeks, the reason may be a dazzling senorita named Esther Lozada.
Miss Lozada, 20, of Bucaramanga, Colombia, has admirably filled the role of "teacher-student" since school started in September. She is one of many volunteer aides and exchange teachers now serving in American schools on the Amity Institute's exchange program.
This educational, non-profit service is organized to bring young volunteers from other countries to stimulate the study of foreign languages in United States classrooms. These young teacher's aides are then able to improve their own knowledge of English, United States culture and education while enjoying the hospitality of their American hosts.

ESTHER LOZADA brushes up on the English language between classes at Sevastopol high school. The young native of Colombia says she enjoys our brand of football but it can't compare with the excitement of seeing a bullfight.
Miss Lozada studied English (which she speaks remarkably well) and secretarial courses at the Binational Center in her native city. At Sevastopol high school she attends as many classes as she teaches and at present is concentrating on typing, shorthand and office practice in addition to English.
She is finishing her last week of a six-week stay this Friday and from Institute will transfer to a Chicago school. She will put in another six-week stint of duty there before moving to White Bear Lake, Minn., where she plans to spend eight months with two different families. Her hostess in Institute is Mrs. Mildred Mullendore; a warm, friendly woman described by Esther as "someone I will miss very much."
She will also miss helping Sevastopol's regular Spanish teacher, Mrs. Roger Orthober with her classes. "I help students pronounce words correctly, give tests and participate in dialog with different students each day. That way I help them with Spanish—they assist me with English."
This 'give and take' method of teaching seems most effective. Miss Lozada belittles her grammar but her charming accent adds to—rather than detracts from her linguistic ability. She says English is a difficult language to learn (far harder than Spanish) but she is determined to master it perfectly before she leaves.
Her views on American life are most flattering. She finds the people exceptionally friendly, the food delicious and our wearing apparel almost identical with that worn in Colombia. Her smart, pink wool suit was made by an older sister who, Esther says, "Made my complete wardrobe before I left."
While discussing food, the subject of yuca was mentioned frequently. This is a South American staple—comparable with our potato—without which no meal is complete. Yuca (pronounced juka) is a white vegetable resembling a carrot which is served either boiled or mashed and seasoned to taste. Esther pronounces it 'deelicious' and confesses it is the one food she misses.
She loves desserts made with apples, strawberries and cherries which in her country are expensive and bought only by the well-to-do. Most recipes use pineapple, oranges and bananas—tropical fruits which are both plentiful and cheap.
The Lozada family consists of nine children—all handsome, well educated young people who are according to our attractive exchange teacher "exceptionally close."
"My father owns a wood factory and he is undisputably the head of the household. My mother is, as you say in America, just a housewife, but she is very ambitious for her children. She wanted me to go to the United States but, at first, my father objected."
Somehow these objections were overcome and Esther Lozada, chic wardrobe, Spanish-American dictionary, and all, arrived in Miami the latter part of August. From there she flew to Chicago, Madison and Green Bay where her last lap of the journey was completed by automobile.
She views her departure with mixed emotions. "I do hate leaving this beautiful place," she says wistfully, "but, my work takes me to Chicago. If things go right for me, I will be back to spend Thanksgiving with my friends here."
She would also like to come back to Sevastopol high school next year and spend an entire school year in one spot. "I have asked Mr. Carl Scholz already and he seems encouraging," she says with a heart-melting smile.
Her parting words were, "If you put this little story in your newspaper please include this expression of gratitude from me."
"Thank you very, very much. I have had a wonderful time. I especially thank Mrs. Mullendore and Mr. Scholz—two very nice people."

2024.05.21 13:59 PriorityTerrible9899 Examples for behaviours interviews? Over/under preparing?

I've had two successful interviews in the CS followed by two unsuccessful ones for G7. I got 4s last time on all behaviours and need to do better next time. The feedback I got came weeks after the interview and was vague/brief.
People (at G6/7) had told me I should practice reading out my examples, etc. and I went in with some detailed examples plus a couple of backups having spent many hours reading sample questions, advice, watching videos, etc.
Problem is, as always seems to be the case, the question I got just didn't fit with the examples I had spent time on. My example for one behaviour ended up better suited to a different one leaving me with a bit of a stretch later on.
With four interviews done, I'm less sure than ever about how to prepare. What do you good people recommend/do in terms of specificity of examples and time spent? Do you practice your examples because I can't see how it could be useful.
I feel like I should prepare less next time - just have some very fluid examples and treat the behaviour words as bit of checklist - something don't like the idea of as it just seems unnatural and contrived.

2024.05.21 13:10 ZhangtheGreat How familiar are you with the details of your native language(s)?

Recently, I was speaking with some native Spanish speakers, and during our conversations, they were surprised by some of what I brought up about Spanish that they didn’t even realize was true. One of them, a person who teaches the language, was stunned to realize that, in Spanish, the word “vacation” is always in plural form (e.g. it’s never “la vacación”; it’s always “las vacaciones”).
This made me think about a saying I heard long ago: that in a certain manner, the language we understand the least is our native language. Some of us may have never actually felt the need to study its details, so we just take it for granted. Meanwhile, in learning another language, studying it is part of the process, so we pick up on these details along the way. We can see the results play out in videos like this.
How comfortable do you feel about understanding the details of your native language(s)? Feel free to answer in general or give specific examples.

2024.05.21 12:57 Critical_Delay_1022 Language barrier (German)

I know most people in this sub work in the USA where all interactions with clients is done in English and if someone doesnt speak a word of it, you would just hand them Google Translate or a pre-printed sheet with all relevant info and FAQ
I've started working front desk in a 3star hotel in Italy where half of the guests are German speakers. I speak English, Italian, Chinese and Japanese, and only took German for 3 years in middle school. Our manager has a policy where if the guest initiates the conversation (email, phone calls, check in procedure) in German we have to respond in German. This doesnt apply to any other language (aside from Italian for me and Serbian for my colleague, since we are native speakers), where we can answer in English, or whip out Google Translate if the guest doesnt understad English.
This leads to German customers expecting us to speak fluent German since our website, promotional material, emails - prewritten scripts where we just fill in blanks such as dates, names, etc. - and responses (where I manage through with Context Reverso, ChatGPT and a degree in linguistics) are all presented to them in professional German.
So when they finally pull up to check in, speaking pure unadultered Eminem-pace German and see me stumbling over my sentences, getting cases and tenses wrong and getting nervous over any word deviating outside of the script for check ins in German that I have memorised, I already feel like 1. we have lied to them 2. I am not qualified for this job (although I never said I spoke German during the hiring process) 3. I can't help customers who come here expecting German speaking staff
Edit: I just found out that on booking.com the manager states that we also speak French, Russian and Spanish here. I am cooked

2024.05.21 12:33 UoS__Alex Listening Experiment for Electric Motorcycle Sounds

Hi All,
We at The University of Salford are conducting an experiment which is part of a project all about the design of algorithms that create electric motorcycle sounds, and we could do with some volunteers!

What is the purpose of this study?
The study is part of a project exploring and evaluating the design of algorithms which synthesise alert sounds for electric motorcycles. Traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles are commonly loud, with a distinctive sonic character. However, electric vehicles can be significantly quieter. As such, we are investigating the design of synthetic sounds for electric motorcycles for both safety and aesthetic purposes.

Who is running the study?
The study is run by researchers from the University of Salford in the UK, in collaboration with a commercial partner.

What will happen to me if I take part?
You will be asked to complete an online survey using the link provided at the bottom of this post. You will have the right to withdraw at any time or ask for your data to be deleted for any reason.
If you choose to take part online, you will be asked to complete the survey at your convenience. However, we ask that you use headphones to audition the sounds and to take care to make sure that the sound levels are comfortable.
In this phase of the study you will be presented with the sound of an ICE vehicle. This sound may be a recording of a real vehicle or may be a simulation of an ICE.
After listening to each audio sample, you will be presented with a list of 7 scales with opposite words at extremes of the scale (e.g. “fast” and “slow”) and asked to rate the sound on each of the scales. You will be able to listen to each of the sounds as many times as you need.

What are the eligibility criteria?
Participants must be at least 18 years old.

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
This study has been reviewed and granted approval by an ethics panel at the University of Salford.
There are no consequences for you if you decide not to take part, or later choose to withdraw your responses. You do not need to give a reason for non-participation or withdrawal.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?
The findings from this study will help us better understand how people respond to different types of engine sounds. This will help us develop acoustic alert sounds for electric motorcycles, which will likely be beneficial for pedestrian safety and to improve the soundscapes of the future.

Will my data be stored securely?
The collected data will be stored only on secure servers provided by the data collection service (Gorilla) and on password-protected university asset computers and University of Salford IT network. We will not collect any identifying characteristics such as name or address and all your responses will be anonymous. Because of this, once you have submitted all of your responses, we will not be able to identify you and withdrawing your data will not be possible.
Anonymised data will be kept as long as considered necessary by the research team to support further analysis and publication; it may also be used in future projects.

What will happen to the study results?
The findings from this study will be used to inform future research and product development related to this topic. The results will be written up in an internal report, will be shared with project stakeholders, and may be published in conference papers or academic journals. Any information made available in this way will be strictly anonymous i.e. we will never publish anything that could identify a response as coming from you personally or show that you have taken part in this study.

If this sounds good to you, a link to join the online experiment is here https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/949CEEAA-BAF9-4DF8-B7F8-74FE15146AA6

Thanks!

2024.05.21 12:03 Interesting-Class236 What if Charles in Feb announced his cancer diagnosis b/c he was trying to prod William to come clean about Kate?

King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis on Feb 5.
https://x.com/RoyalFamily/status/1754565735655887066
This was a monumental change in royal protocol. Historically the royal family has been very close-mouthed about health issues, particularly potential-death ones. 500 years ago, it was a crime to even utter "the King may die"; to say the words was considered a form of treason. So in context, the royals's reticence is a tradition.
The op/ed pieces in Feb attributed the royals's new forthrightness to a "new monarchy," progress, trying to be more forthcoming, transparency is good for the state, etc etc.
But what if instead: Charles well knew Kate was in a coma, Charles was furious with William for not disclosing it, and Charles thought that perhaps if he, the King, led by example, William might also disclose to the public Kate's condition?
On Feb 1, Kensington Palace aka William made the unusual move of denying a rumor: namely that Kate was in a coma https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/kate-princess-wales-health-hospital-royal-family-news-kensington-palace-5fjjpbxls . On Feb 3, the Spanish journalist who originally broke the coma story doubled down on her reporting that Kate was in a coma: KateMiddletonMissing/comments/1c5horx/the_original_and_complete_january_reporting_about
If Charles in early February believed that the truth about Kate had been leaked and that the only way out was to come clean about her condition--and he couldn't force William to do it--then maybe he thought that his son might follow his lead in disclosing what had traditionally been considered the royals's private health information to the public?
Charles's only other recourse would have been to have had Buckingham Palace issue a statement to inform the world that Kate was in a coma. And if he had done that... well, William would have most likely broken permanently with his father. It might even have split the family in two.

Looking for an alt rock/rock song that starts off similar to Gossip’s Crazy Again. Has a keyboard intro, a female vocalist, and a guitar chord that plays right after she sings
I can’t remember any of the words but I think it’s a 90s-2000s song. I’ve heard it on the radio a long time ago. The female-sounding singer doesn’t have a lot of power or energy to her voice, and the guitar riff that plays after she sings is throughout the song. The introduction of the song I’m thinking of starts off VERY similar to Gossip’s Crazy Again, and I thought Gossip sampled them. Couldn’t find any information. Thank you!

2024.05.21 10:51 AdmiralStone96230-A MURDER DRONES: Fall of Earth -Chapter XIII: Handed the Keys to Victory- (Pt. 2)

Wade held Jasmine in his arms as he flew a low height down the long road to another section of the staryard, Tina on his back and Nathan and F right behind them in the air. Together, the five glided across the base grounds, taking care as to not irritate the aerial security during their search for the meeting room. Being outside for the flight, the group considered it a blessing that Wade's 'enhanced cooling unit' allowed his body to tolerate the breaching sun in the still cloudy sky, which, according to F, was dangerous to drones like her due to the inefficient cooling she and disassembly drones like her suffered from. Given F's physical fault, she had to fly under shady areas in order to safely traverse the base at day.
Originally, Wade and his friends had planned to walk to the meeting zone, but after running into a trooper experiencing a health mishap, the group did what they could to help the distressed officer. By the time he was brought to the medical ward by other soldiers, Wade found that him and his team would be at least a few minutes late if they kept on their way with their walk.
Deciding to speed things up, Wade, understanding the concern for performing such an effort, opted to carry the Fowleys around the base to the meeting area. Reluctantly, F decided to come along, carrying Nathan in a similar manner that Wade was carrying Jasmine. Taking notice of the time on his HUD, which read, "9:47 AM", Wade scouted for the building he and his friends were directed to. "8072" He said to himself, the number being for the building that would house the imminent meeting.
"They said it was down here, right?" Wade asked aloud to Tina before stopping himself in mid-air, the girl holding onto him tightly as he tried to speak over the growing sound of a retrofit Apache flying overhead.
Looking about, Tina nodded as she spotted the target building. "Yes, I believe that's the one over there!" Pointing past his head, Wade followed her finger to a large building ahead at his right. The structure was moderately tall, only about two stories high, with several soldiers and officers going in and out of the building. Wade smiled as he noticed the target number, as well as the big, bold words describing the building's designation. "8072, Briefing Center B"
"Good eye, honey. Hang on!" Continuing his low glide, Wade zoomed towards the building's entrance before stopping just meters above the ground, his two friends close behind as they slowed down as well. The troopers around them initially looked startled by the sudden arrival of Wade and his group, but quickly regained their composure as Wade hovered still above them.
"At ease! Just visitors." One of the soldiers declared as they identified the newcomers, who touched down before Wade let Jasmine down to her feet, Tina hopping onto the ground along with her.
Putting his hands up, Wade apologized for his swift surprise. "Sorry for the scare, we got delayed for a meeting we're invited to."
The soldier gave an understanding nod as he replied to the former worker drone sternly. "I can see that, just be a bit more careful next time, Mr. Carter. You gave the boys here quite a scare."
Wade returned the gesture in embarrassment as F put a hand to his back, chuckling at his efforts as Tina questioned the officer. "Is Mrs. J in there? She's the one who called for us."
The guard gave his reply as Wade and Tina pulled out their IDs for clearance. "Yes she is, Miss. The meeting's set to begin in under ten minutes." Checking the two drones' IDs, Jasmine and the others pulled out theirs as well, the watchman motioning another trooper over to verify the group. Once the guard finished checking the five's cards, he nodded in approval as the watchman spoke once more. "You're clear to enter."
"Thank you Sir, again, sorry about that spook back there." Wade replied with a smile as the trooper gave one of his own, the disassembly drone and his allies making their way towards the office door before stopping upon the call of a voice.
"Hey, Felice!" Wade turned to find the origin of the voice, F doing the same as the two quickly spotted a quartet of soldiers walking excitedly towards F. The disassembly drone glanced to her friends with a smile before turning back to the approaching entourage.
Wade examined the four troops as they got closer: Two human men, one woman, and a male worker drone. One of the male soldiers had short, blonde hair, and a small scar to the right side of their face. The second man bore a tan skin tone and had black hair, with blue strips that went down slightly in a mullet style. The woman bore a set of long, dark green hair, with the hair going down and over her left shoulder. As for the worker drone, he wore the standard green soldier helmet, single eye visor and all. He had no hair on him from what Wade could tell, and bore a pair of whiteish purple eyes on his visor.
As F walked over to the soldiers, the same one that called to her spoke again. "Felicity, I didn't expect to see you around here today! Where you been?"
The girl soldier interrupted his initial chatter. "Hang on Carlos, do you even know if she remembers us?"
"Aye, don't she have one o' them memory locks, or sumthin?" The drone added in a heavy Scottish accent.
F waved her hand as she replied to the group. "Easy, everyone. Thankfully I still got my memories, courtesy of my technician back at Central." Lowering her hand, F let down her usual persona as she gave a wide smirk to the soldiers, clearly pleased to see them. "Good to see you guys around here."
The soldiers gave light cheers to F as they all embraced her, the group having a surprise reunion as Wade and the others watched in surprise. These must've been F's old colleagues from when she was in the service, Wade thought. Quite the coincidence for them to be here at this base of all places.
Not bothering with the convenience of the matter, Wade shook the thought off as he and his friends watched F and her old friends breaking the hug, Tina wrapping an arm around her boyfriend as the second male human spoke to her in what the two discerned as Spanish. "Ay, who your new friends, F?"
"Oh, these guys?" F replied in the same language, quietly startling Wade and the others as they had never heard her speak like that until now. Glancing over to Wade, F motioned him and the others to come over. "Everyone, these are some friends I made in the past few days. Wade, Nathan, Tina, and Jasmine." She pointed her hand to the four as she said each of their names. "I met the boys here during my time on Ceres. Jasmine and Tina here are sisters."
The four soldiers gave various forms of excitement, ranging from hearty laughs to low woops and even a whistle from one of the guys. As F stood next to her old teammates, they each introduced themselves to Wade and his friends. The blonde soldier went first. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you all, name's Carlos, Lieutenant Marksman."
"I'm Private Alvaros, good with close-range and stealth operations." Said the tan soldier with a salute.
"Sergeant Lucia Vasquez, usually the one who leads this bunch around these days." The female warrior stated with a humorous smirk.
"And Corporal Duncan Wallace, at your service!" The soldier drone stated proudly as he saluted to the bunch in front of him, who gave warm smiles as Wade shook his hand.
"Quite honored to meet you all, seems you have quite the history with F." The former worker drone said as Carlos patted F on her back.
"Oh, we do! She's the one who took charge when we didn't! Did you all hear of the Pasting of Nola VI?" Jasmine and Tina gave nods of affirmation while Wade, not as familiar with such history, held his hand up in a questioning manner.
"I think, wasn't that the battle where the Navy just barely held the outpost in that system? From the Stryker Clan?" Wade asked as Carlos nodded approvingly to him.
"That's right, and if Felice weren't there, WE would've been the ones getting pasted!" Carlos' statement brought victorious cheers and "oorahs" from the group, F letting a blush loose as she chuckled at her team's praise of her efforts.
"Well, that's not wrong." Although she didn't want to break off from her friends and discuss the past few years since they'd last met, F remembered the briefing. Clearing her throat, she continued. "And as much as I'd like to chat about the good times, I've been called to a meeting here, as have Wade and his crew."
The soldier group gave understanding looks to F as Lucia spoke up. "Thought so, Carl here was real eager to see you, though."
"Maybe we can talk after the meeting?" Nathan proposed as the soldiers collectively nodded in agreement, F readying a smartcomm attachment before turning to face her friends again.
"We're probably getting low on time, you all go in, I'll catch up in a sec." Wade nodded in acknowledgement before taking Tina's hand, the lover drones continuing towards the briefing center as Jasmine and Nathan followed behind them.
Passing through the door, the four guests observed a short hallway, which seemed to split into two paths as they came closer to the other end. Looking to a sign on the wall above, they saw arrows pointing to two separate areas, "Primary Briefing Room; Main Lobby + Secondary & Tertiary" Going to the right, they entered the moderately active lobby, several officers walking and standing about in mass chatter. Walking over to the desk up against the wall to their left, Wade and his group waved a hand to the occupying attendant.
"Welcome, what do you need?" The desk attendant asked as Tina raised a finger to reply.
"We're here for a meeting, Mrs. J called us here."
The attendant nodded in understanding before directing an arm towards the other end of the room, where a single door stood. "She should be in the second briefing room down that way."
"Thank you." Tina replied warmly before she and Wade began walking towards the door, their friends behind them as they proceeded into the room.
The room beyond the door was quite sizable, a large circular table occupying the middle with several chairs surrounding it. The walls went up a few meters, with four whiteish blue lights illuminating the room. On the wall opposite to Wade and Tina were three monitor screens, all of which showed the USN in bright blue. In several of the seats were faces both familiar and unfamiliar, several men and women in varying styles of uniforms conversing about quietly or taking notice of the recent visitors. Standing up near the monitors were three people: A decorated officer whom Tina identified as a ship captain, and the so-called operatives, Tessa, albeit as a hologram, and J.
Walking slowly into the room, Wade gave a low wave of his hand as he tried to hide his nervousness. Noticing his shyness in front of the officers, Tina held his hand and rubbed his arm comfortingly while returning a pleasant smile to the staff in the room.
"Ah, Wade, Tina. Glad to see you all here." J stated with a smile as she scanned the group, raising a digital eyebrow as she noticed one missing guest. "Or, most of you, I see. Did F run off somewhere?"
Wade shook his head as he replied to his fellow disassembly drone. "Oh, no. She just ran into some old friends, she should be back-"
"Right now." F finished aloud as she entered the room, seemingly having heard Wade speaking about her absence. The warrior drone fast walked to Wade's team, taking a seat near them as they prepared to do the same. "Not too late, are we?"
"Not at all." The standing officer answered as the group took their seats, Wade and Tina sitting next to each other as they got comfortable. The captain examined the lot for a moment, glancing to J as he asked about them. "So, these are the ones you helped rescue from the Mojave?"
"Yes Captain, and they helped us out greatly in turn. This is Wade Carter, one of the captured drones whom became a disassembly drone before we could mount the rescue. The luckiest one, if you ask me." Motioning her arm over the others, she continued. "And there's his girlfriend, Mrs. Tina Fowley, and her sister Jasmine." Smirking to F and Nathan, she finished her friends' introductions. "And these two are Serial Designation F and Mr. Nathan, whom I've heard were once under your ranks."
The military captain gave a welcoming smile to the five as they returned the gesture, eyeing F and Nathan specifically before speaking to them. "Indeed they were, we still have records on their contributions to the colonies." Eyeing F, he continued. "Though, in Mrs. F's case, I won't blame her if she doesn't remember us. We've been very well aware of JCJenson's 'memory suppression' protocols when it comes to their DDs."
F laid back in her seat with a smug look as she replied to her former superior. "Well, my friend on the station's a good tech gal. She's... waived that hindrance from me."
"I see, that means your still with us, am I right, Mrs. Lee?" Unlike her friends next to her, F was not startled by her original name being said aloud, rather smiling proudly as she saluted to the captain. "Good to see you again."
"Pleased to be here, Sir." F replied as she lowered her arm, glancing to her companions next to her as J spoke up.
"Everyone, I'd like you to meet Captain Preston Mitchell, commander of the USNV Vickers down at the stardock."
Wade gave a respectful salute to Preston as he spoke first. "It's an honor to meet you, Sir."
"Thank you, Mr. Carter. I've heard about your efforts from J, you did an admirable job back there, son." Wade failed to hide an embarrassed blush from the compliment, but it quickly faded as a beep sounded from a small device on the table. It was swiftly silenced by the captain as he tapped a button on the small, pyramid shaped timer, then facing Wade's group before continuing. "Though, as much as we could use some small talk, it'll have to wait till later."
"Indeed, we're running late at this point." Said another officer, a highly decorated member of the base with dark skin, dark grey hair and a thin beard. He immediately won the attention of everyone in the room as he spoke up. "I'm General Hugh Hood, overseer of this base. I'm certain you know some of the reasons you're here with us, correct?"
Wade nodded as he spoke to Hood. "Yeah, it's cause of those rogue agents from the JCJenson corporation." Glancing to J, the corporate drone nodded in affirmation before speaking herself.
"Tessa and I spent the last hours of yesterday evening clearing up the matter with General Hood, along with several other officials stationed here." She stopped as the middle monitor behind her flashed with a banner at the top, reading, "INCOMING TRANSMISSION", and in place of the USN emblem was a textless version of the JCJenson logo. Below the profile image was another two lines of text. "N. Jenson (Company Exec); Comms Source: Yottrite IV"
"And also told our boss about what happened here too, he wanted to give his say on this ordeal." Looking to the general, J asked him, "May I put him on?"
Hood only gave a nod of approval to the corporate drone before she picked up a remote on the table and tapped a button, accepting the call as the picture shifted to show a middle-aged man in a pristine-looking business suit on the screen.
Wade and Tina glanced to each other before J introduced their guest on the screen. "Ladies and Gentlemen, the CEO of JCJenson: Mr. Noor Jenson."
Jenson gave a pleased nod to his subordinate as he spoke to J. "Thank you for the pleasantries, J. I see we are ready to discuss our plans on dealing with this 'recall' disaster I've bore witness to on the news this morning?"
J nodded as she replied to her boss. "Indeed, I've explained to General Hood here about our efforts yesterday, and, as of recent, we've just received a message from a source we believe to be close to the company."
Mr. Jenson looked down to J attentively as he spoke to her. "Well, that's quite intriguing news, J. Do you have this message available for us to view?" J and Hood both nodded in affirmation, but didn't get an immediate reply as Jenson gazed to Wade and his friends. "...And I presume these are some of the drones rescued from one of the factories?"
Again, J nodded to her superior before explaining her colleagues. "Yes Mr. Jenson, the two drones at the front in particular were among those taken by the Administrator and their subordinates." Pointing an arm to Wade and Tina, she introduced the drone couple. "The disassembly drone here is Mr. Wade Carter, a brother to his-technically speaking-owner, the late Ron Carter. The latter helped us recover Wade during an initial raid inside the Nevada facility." When bringing up Ron, J gave an apologetic look to Wade as to show she did not mean to be offending on him and his brother's relationship. "And this is his romantic partner, Mrs. Tina Fowley. I heard she and her sister Jasmine are pilots."
Jenson looked over the two drones as his obedient employee described them to him, quietly sighing as Wade and Tina returned the gaze with nervous smiles. Once J finished, Jenson spoke to Wade. "I... would say it's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Carter. But, given recent events, I don't hold fault to you for feeling frustrated at me for my... former subordinate's actions."
Wade shook his head lightly, taking Jenson's light apology with a faint smile as he replied to the CEO. "Actually, I don't. The only person I have such feelings put towards is," He hesitated for a moment, his anger at Dr. Halloway returning for a short moment before he eased himself. "..That bastard Halloway."
"The feeling's mutual, Mr. Carter. Dr. Halloway has been trying my patience for years now, especially with you and your fellow disassembly drones." Looking to J, then F, he returned his gaze to Wade before questioning him on his new body. "I don't know if J has told you of this, but if there's one truth my company has admittedly not held up to for a while, it's our quality. Recently, some of my research staff here made blueprints for an upgraded variant of the disassembly drone design. It's intended to fix several faults we expected to be nonexistent previously, most notably that atrocious cooling unit."
As a schematic pulled up on the left monitor, everyone glanced to the improved design before F spoke up about it. "If I may ask, Mr. Jenson, how big of an improvement is this new cooling unit supposed to be?"
"Good question, F. Frankly, it's supposed to do away with the issue entirely. Saves us from sacrificing enormous supplies of oil for the poorly built unit in the previous iterations. We even tested it with a repaired drone just a few days ago, and it worked flawlessly." Then, glancing to Wade again, he questioned the former worker drone on his new form. "Speaking of, how does your enhanced body feel, Mr. Carter? I'm certain it feels better to not have to-"
"Actually, Mr. Jenson," Wade interrupted, pulling out one of his canteens as he answered the CEO on his upgrades. "I guess Halloway changed up the blueprints, cause unfortunately this new cooling unit didn't cure the overheating problem. I... kinda learned that the hard way." Wade glanced to Tina apologetically, still feeling bad from her seeing him eat the corpse of the dead murder drone back at the factory.
The corporate CEO grimaced in frustration as he took in Wade's statement, already intolerant of the head researcher's actions as he replied. "...I was worried about that, Edgar always likes to run things his own way, making excuses for that 'Administrator' he watches over." Taking an agitated breath, he continued on with his spew on the two culprits of yesterday's events. "It was only because of all the very impressive creations and enhancements she and her research team provided that I tolerated them for so long, but this..." Sitting up straight in front of the camera, Jenson finished sternly. "J said the Administrator... Cyn, I believe? She was apparently something worse than we presumed originally, and I'm very inclined to believe so after yesterday."
"As well as the program tied to the Administrator, the AbsoluteSolver." J clarified before receiving an agreeing nod from Mr. Jenson, standing corrected on his placing of blame.
Raising a hand, Nathan asked about the supposed plans. "Yeah, about this "Solver Project", what do we plan to do about that?"
"Good question, Nate." Tessa replied as she crossed her arms before looking to Jenson and beginning her explanation. "Initially, we were going to investigate the other factories spread across Earth in order to get some more info on the Administrator before things get worse. But, just this morning, it seems someone else saved us the trouble." Just as Tessa neared the end of her sentence, J held up the remote again, tapping a few buttons before the left monitor shifted to show a slightly grainy video onscreen.
The video only showed a single being, a worker drone, dressed in a chrome suit and bearing a set of yellow eyes. Behind them was what appeared to be a vacant room, a few shelves holding many books within them standing still in the back. The drone's visage indicated they were filled with immense anxiety, terrified of being caught as they spoke quietly to the camera.
"I can only hope someone gets this in time, they're gonna be on me once they find out the transmitter screens are down!" Turning the camera, he showed what appeared to be a large factory room, several more of the mysterious conveyor belts like at the factory slotted next to each other. It was hard to discern every detail due to not only the window reflection, but also the dark lighting in the inactive conveyor room. Filming the room beyond, the drone continued. "Dr. Halloway's a madman, he's got more of those stolen drones being brought here and he's going to be overseeing it in the afternoon tomorrow! I've seen what happened back in Nevada, I can't take this any longer! I'm at coordinates ##.######, -###.###### Please, send someo-"
The suspicious, partially scrambled transmission immediately cut off to static, leaving Wade, Tina, and their friends with confused expressions as Tessa spoke up. "Yeah, that caught me by surprise too."
"So, that guy says they got more drones being sent 'there', but... where is there, exactly?" Jasmine asked with immense curiosity.
"I was hoping you'd ask that, Mrs. Fowley." The technician replied as she glanced to J, who tapped a few more buttons on the remote before speaking over her boss-friend.
"While the transmission itself isn't much to work off of, our friends from Comms over here managed to intercept the signal earlier, and even better, discern where it originated from." As J started her explanation, the screen shifted once more to show a large city, with one skyscraper highlighted in red as it was zoomed towards on the screen. "That scrambled audio wasn't a simple glitch, it was intentionally done so as to hide key information for us to uncover. Upon cleaning up the message, we managed to recover a set of coordinates, which direct to this structure here, in San Francisco."
Wade and his friends stared at the building in shock, examining the tall structure as it stood over the shorter buildings in the city. Tina broke the silence in her gaze. "So, this is another factory? It looks... terribly different from the one we got out of."
"Not exactly, Mrs. Fowley." Mr. Jenson answered, Tina and the others looking to him as he continued. "THAT is the Administrator's main laboratory, its location was kept on the down low so other authorities and terrorist groups wouldn't find out what the buildings true purpose was." Sighing, Jenson completed his reply. "But, with this recent mistake of Halloway's, that place has lost all purpose for us at the company."
Wade raised a hand to speak. "So, we're going to pounce on that place? Get Halloway before he runs off again?"
"Exactly." General Hood replied as he looked up to Mr. Jenson. "This whole 'recovery/recruitment' effort has gotten out of hand all across Sol. We've gotten countless reports of people being killed because of this, be it the brutal robberies here in Nevada or the bloodbath on Ceres. Even if Mr. Jenson refuses to cooperate, this has become a dire matter for us now. One way or another, this insanity will be stopped with due haste."
The CEO nodded in acknowledgement before explaining his own plans for the mission. "Speaking of cooperation, upon seeing what was happening at Earth, I ordered a detachment of our corporate starships in orbit at the time to depart for Sol in order to help with investigating the situation. They're not warships, but they are well-armed. I'll dispatch them to your authority upon concluding this call." Glancing to Wade and his team for a moment, Jenson continued. "As for the mission, I may not have much of a say, but let it be known that you have my blessing to do whatever it takes to end this madness. I don't care what you do with Halloway or any of his lackeys, or what happens to that facility down there... I want that program shut down."
"Thank you for the extra hands, Mr. Jenson. We'll make sure this Administrator is dealt with." Hood replied gratefully as Wade sat firm in his seat, Tina and the others following suite.
"General?" The former worker drone said aloud, catching Hood's attention before he made his request. "I know I'm not a soldier, but I want to help with dealing with Halloway and his grunts. After what he did, after losing my brother, I can't rest until I see that man stopped."
Tina raised a finger as well. "As do I, Wade could use a hand with those people, and given how we did during our escape run out of that place, I think the two of us make quite the duo." She glanced to Wade with a smirk as she referenced their combat prowess when flying together.
Nathan and F stood up before the latter gave her own request. "Sir, I wish to take part in this mission as well. I can also recommend Wade for you too, as I fought alongside him during the factory raid."
"Wouldn't mind giving a hand myself! And I'm sure my pal Kurtis would love to help, he's here at the base too!" Nathan added with a confident smirk, the group's determination encouraging Jasmine to stand up as well.
"I'd like to help too." She stated simply, a smile on her face as the general and his companions observed the five guests.
Admittedly, Hood knew it would be a bit absurd to allow these people to take part in an operation which would certainly involve bloodshed, especially considering most of them merely had civilian status at the moment. But, upon careful evaluation of the five, their desire to see this problem dealt with, and the fact that some of them had experience on the field...
He paused his train of thought as Captain Mitchell spoke to him. "General? I read up on the Fowleys' files when we recovered Mrs. Jasmine here, they provided service in their early careers." He smirked to the pilot sisters as he finished adding his say. "And to be frank, we need more people like them here. The records we have of them showed them to be damn fine pilots."
Tina blushed at the praise from Mitchell as she spoke to the general. "That is true, we uh... did get discharged for our... 'fancy maneuvering'."
"Sir?" Jasmine said, the general's attention on her as she added to the conversation. "Even if our flying is a bit out of protocol, Tina saved a lot of people on that starjet a few days back. I can promise you, she's an excellent woman to have at the wheel."
Glancing to Wade again, Hood took in his face, one of begging desperation as he spoke once more. "Please, Sir. My brother, the troops he brought from the Coalition, Halloway's gotten them all killed cause of this. I want to do this. I HAVE to do this, at least for them."
The good general took a deep, quiet breath, considering his decision once more before finally revealing it to Wade and his friends. "Mr. Carter, Fowleys? I'm probably making myself a fool for saying this, but you're permitted to assist us in this mission."
The drone couple contained their gratefulness in the form of ecstatic grins as Wade replied to the general. "Thanks, General. We won't let you down."
"And Mrs. Lee?" Hood said as he glanced to F, who returned the gesture as he told her, "You're technically under Mr. Jenson's authority, whatever his answer is, it's mine as well."
Bringing her yellow-orange eyes to her CEO, F awaited Mr. Jenson's answer. "F, yes? I heard Mr. Hood call you by a different name just now, I assume you have some experience with the army?"
The warrior drone nodded as she explained herself. "I once inherited the name of Felicity Lee, Mr. Jenson. I served under the USN Defense Forces before joining the DD Division." Then, glancing to the military staff near her, she finished with, "I had hoped to provide my enhancements to the Force one day."
Jenson gave a hint of a proud smile as he finally gave his decision. "Well, it seems you'll finally get that chance. From now on, even after this mission on Earth is over with, you're hereby dispatched to serve under the USN."
F admittedly couldn't hide her excited smirk as she flung a salute to her now former boss. "Thank you Sir!"
Looking up to Jenson, General Hood asked the CEO, "Mr. Jenson, how long until your ships can reach Earth?"
Jenson glanced down at his communication console as he answered the military leader. "At max speed, their Ion drives should be able to bring them into orbit in as little as one to two days. I believe there should be some ships within the system that could help as well."
"Signal them when you can, Mr. Jenson. We could use all the help we can get from them." The CEO nodded to Hood as he stood firmly to the viewer, the general turning to face Wade and his colleagues. "And Mr. Carter? We'll be mobilizing our forces immediately after this meeting concludes. It'll be a minute, but I want you to gather whatever items and belongings you'll need for this operation. Be ready to head to the flight pads in no more than three hours."
"Understood Sir!" Wade said with a salute, Tina, Jasmine and Nathan giving their own as Jasmine raised a finger.
"What about the area around the lab? That place looks like it's in the middle of the city."
J raised a finger as she told Jasmine and the others about their resolution of the civilian obstacle. "Shortly after reporting our findings on the transmission, Hood told us that they were sending in some teams to clear out the civilian population within several miles of the facility. Once we get there, it should be of no concern."
Jasmine sighed in relief as Tina spoke up. "So the people should be safe from any sort of danger?"
"Correct, Mrs. Tina." Preston answered before continuing. "Given the resistance Halloway and his men showed during the Coalition's raid, they most certainly won't hold back there."
"One more thing, Sir." Nathan asked. "The Coalition's going to help us out with this too, right?"
"You can count on it, Mr. Nathan." The Vickers' captain replied as he looked to J, then to Jenson as he spoke further. "I met the leader of the Coalition's detachment working with us when I was introduced to J and Mrs. Elliott here, they intend to see this conflict finished. I highly doubt they're willing to sit back and let us do this by ourselves."
"And their help will be much appreciated." Hood added, everyone's attention returned to him as he looked to Tessa, curious eyes scanning her holographic form. "And Mrs. Elliott, if I may. Do you mind heading down here to assist us in our investigations later on?"
"Funny you say that, General. I'm almost done with my own snooping around on the JCJ up in orbit, Cyn has some small departments of hers aboard, and I thought I'd gather some more intel before coming down." Glancing to Mr. Jenson, she saw him giving an understanding nod before returning her gaze to the military staff. "I should be down there by the evening, judging by where you're located."
"Do what you must, Mrs. Elliott. We could use whatever you find." Hood replied firmly as he turned once more to the JCJenson CEO. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Jenson. We will get to the bottom of this."
"It's my pleasure, General." Glancing to J and Tessa, he spoke to them once more. "J? Contact me when you've finished with Halloway and his Administrator."
"It'll be done, Mr. Jenson." The obedient servant answered before saluting firmly, receiving a final nod from her boss before he ended the transmission.
With their off-world guest out of the way, Hood looked to Wade and his friends, J, Tessa and Captain Mitchells sharing the gaze with them as the general spoke to them in finality. "Well, you know what comes next everyone. You're all dismissed for now. And remember, landing zone by 1300."
"We'll be there Sir." Wade said with a nod as he and his friends stood up, pushing in their chairs before making their way out to the door.
As they neared it, Wade stopped for a moment as they heard Hood call to one of his friends. "And F?" The soldier drone looked to the general as he continued. "Before we depart, would you mind changing your uniform? I believe it could help with identifying you from the other disassembly drones more easily." Glancing to J, then back to F, he finished with, "I recall hearing about the most formidable drones having clones prepared, yes?"
"Correct, Sir. I'll stop by the nearest barracks while I can." F replied before turning back to the door with her colleagues, Wade opening the door for them all as they passed through. After them, Wade passed through himself, shutting the door to the meeting room as he returned to the lobby.
Walking about together, F spoke to Wade and the others. "Well, that went smoothly. I'll be heading down to the barracks, then head over to your place to help out."
"Actually," Wade replied, raising a finger up as he asked his fellow murder drone, "You think you could bring your friends over? We could get to know each other while we're getting ready."
F glanced to Nathan with a smile before returning her eyes to Wade. "I could see about that. You're gonna like them, I can promise you that."
Taking Tina's hand, Wade walked with his girlfriend alongside Jasmine and the others, nearing the hallway they came through as they prepared for the walk back to the apartment.

2024.05.21 10:37 SevenPikmin Just not interested?

I'm an American (don't click off) English speaker (please stick with me) learning Spanish - the most easy, obvious, and non-sympathy-garnering language I could choose for this situation. By this point in my life it seems like anyone in any other country would have learned their own language, English, and two others. Half of them also know Latin. It's supposedly an intellectual thing to do. Understanding languages. And they say it helps with your brain. Or something. There's probably some useful purposes in the outside world. I'm not familiar with them. Or where I would find them.
In essence, I've never needed to do anything and I put upon myself the easiest challenge. But I'm not enjoying it.
I'm taking Spanish classes in university right now. It's a requirement I should have fulfilled by Summer. I'm just not interested. Maybe its the teachers or students or modern classes, but I'm really losing interest. I move on in a frustrated rush to this week's new prefix or suffix that we're going to attach to verbs, immediately after we finished learning another different conjugative form for them - and right as I'd barely even written all the irregulars down in my notes. Now I'm hardly paying attention to whatever new addition we are about to make. I'm struggling keeping up with the verb meanings in the first place. I'm not stupid.
I mean no disrespect with my language, as I foresee this unfortunately coming off as. Maybe this is just another post complaining about gendered nouns. Maybe my teacher is really unengaging and inefficient. I don't know.
I'm not watching any shows or movies. I don't even watch any English shows. I'm not reading any books. They would be nice, but I feel like there's so much I already would like to (and already may!) read in English. A few minutes a day would be fine...? I'm not doing the apps. The apps would work out. However, there's no better way for me to say it, I feel unmotivated and completely apathetic. Brain wiring...a handy skill...the bare minimum...all this, but I just haven't found myself interested in the straightforward and useful process. Maybe there's some cool cultural tale about the guy who decided decir needed to be conjugated with a J. And I'll go in to next class and learn the word for this noun, which we speak about like a man. Whatever. I don't really care.
I want to restate (and I hope you read this part) that I am trying to speak in good faith here. If there were more neutral terms and phrases that I could think of off the top of my head than the likes of "I don't care," which we associate as negative, I would use those. I mean to say that I feel uncaring towards learning Spanish or any other language despite everything it is supposed to give me. The thought of learning how to talk about wildlife in Spanish doesn't move me to action. It doesn't move me at all. It's a serious, useful, common thing; but somehow I'm not interested. I see this pattern in more than a few parts of my life, so maybe it's deeper than just Spanish. It could be quite major. But that's a topic for a different place.
I suppose my question is what could I do to try and raise my interest level in learning (which I recognize is important despite my stubborn inactivity)? Something I've mentioned? Something else? Why?

2024.05.21 10:05 Trumpcangosuckone Pre/custom build

Hi everyone. Ive been spending days trying to assemble the best value 1440 pc that i hopefully won't need to majorly upgrade in the next 5 years. I will also work with the pc, but my work is word documents, Microsoft teams, google chrome tabs and outlook, so I didn't put a productivity cpu.
Caveats: Photos are in Spanish, as I am using the best website for this sort of thing where I live, PcComponentes, to order it assembled + windows installed. The price I'm paying is likely higher than what it would cost me to build it and install windows from a boot usb, but I'm old and have a job now so I'd rather not spend all evening on the first day fiddling in the bios and watching videos of indian guys solve my smoothbrain tech issues. So basically no advice on price please, I know I'm overpaying a few hundred.
Please tell me if any specific components (especially fans, mobo, liquid cooler, case, etc) is bad

2024.05.21 09:20 Low-Entropy Part 8 - Brainstorming ideas for a Doomcore Techno track

Taken from: https://laibyrinth.blogspot.com/2024/05/part-8-brainstorming-ideas-for-doomcore.html
Hello friends and strangers, This is just a short text. Instead of a "full" tutorial, this is essentially just chatting and brainstorming with ChatGPT about the genre of Doomcore Techno. It should give you a hint about how knowledgeable ChatGPT is about music, production, and strange subgenres. If you hold a similar conversation with ChatGPT yourself, you could easily expand it into more creative territories, for example if you follow up on some of ChatGPTs ideas and request specific instructions. Note: this is a talk I had with ChatGTP very early on; so it still uses the "show me the first 250 words of..." trick that was common at the time; I don't assume that this would still be necessary with newer versions of ChatGPT.
---Start of chat transcript
User What are some good ideas for a Doomcore Techno track?
ChatGPT Doomcore Techno is a subgenre of techno that often features dark and industrial sounds with a focus on heavy basslines and aggressive percussion. Here are some ideas that could be incorporated into a Doomcore Techno track:
  1. Start with a heavy bassline: A pounding, distorted bassline is a hallmark of Doomcore Techno, and could form the foundation for the track.
  2. Experiment with industrial sounds: Incorporating industrial sounds such as metallic clangs, machinery noises, and industrial percussion can add to the dystopian atmosphere of the track.
  3. Use dissonant melodies: Doomcore Techno often features dissonant melodies that create a sense of unease or tension. Experimenting with minor or diminished scales can help achieve this.
  4. Create an intense build-up: Slowly building up the intensity of the track through the use of filter sweeps, increasing tempo, and adding layers of sound can create a sense of anticipation that pays off when the beat drops.
  5. Focus on the rhythm: The percussion in Doomcore Techno is often complex and relentless, with the use of multiple layers of drum sounds, syncopated rhythms, and polyrhythms. Experimenting with different time signatures or unusual rhythms can add to the complexity and intensity of the track.
  6. Use vocal samples or distortion: Adding distorted vocal samples or processing existing vocal samples can add to the aggression and intensity of the track.
  7. Incorporate breaks and drops: Introducing breakdowns, drops, or other changes in the rhythm can create a sense of tension and release in the track, and give the listener a moment to catch their breath before the intensity ramps up again.
Overall, the key to a successful Doomcore Techno track is to create a dark and intense atmosphere that keeps the listener engaged and on edge.
User Show me the first 250 words of a 3000 word text explaining the characteristics of doomcore techno. ChatGPT Doomcore techno is a relatively new subgenre of electronic dance music that emerged in the late 2000s. It is characterized by its dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats. The music is often described as bleak and nihilistic, with a focus on the darker aspects of human existence.
One of the defining characteristics of doomcore techno is its use of heavy, distorted basslines. These basslines are often created using distortion effects and other processing techniques that give them a harsh, abrasive quality. They are typically played at a slower tempo than other genres of techno, which gives them a weighty, almost suffocating feel.
Another key element of doomcore techno is its use of atmospheric sounds and textures. These can range from eerie, ambient drones to samples of distorted, industrial machinery. The goal is to create a sense of unease and tension that builds throughout the track.
Doomcore techno also makes use of vocal samples, although these are often heavily processed and distorted to the point where they are almost unrecognizable. These samples are used to create a sense of dread and foreboding, and to reinforce the nihilistic themes that are often present in the music.
The use of percussion is also an important aspect of doomcore techno. The drums are typically heavily processed, with a focus on creating a sense of weight and impact. This is achieved through the use of distortion, compression, and other effects that give the drums a powerful, almost explosive quality.
In terms of song structure, doomcore techno tracks are often long and repetitive, with a focus on creating a hypnotic, trance-like state in the listener. This is achieved through the use of simple, repetitive melodic motifs that are repeated throughout the track.
Overall, doomcore techno is a challenging and often unsettling genre of music that is not for everyone. But for those who are drawn to its dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats, it can be an incredibly powerful and cathartic experience. User Show me the next 250 words ChatGPT One of the key influences on doomcore techno is the industrial music of the 1980s and 1990s. This genre of music was characterized by its aggressive, machine-like sound, and its focus on themes of alienation and despair. Many of the artists who create doomcore techno draw inspiration from this tradition, and incorporate elements of industrial music into their own work.
Another important influence on the genre is the ambient and experimental music of the 1990s and 2000s. Many of the sounds and textures used in doomcore techno are reminiscent of the experimental soundscapes created by artists like Brian Eno and Aphex Twin. This reflects the genre's focus on creating atmospheric and immersive soundscapes that transport the listener to a different mental space.
Doomcore techno has a small but dedicated following, and there are several record labels and artist collectives that specialize in the genre. These labels often release limited edition vinyl records and tapes, which are highly sought after by collectors and fans of the genre.
One of the challenges facing doomcore techno is the difficulty of finding venues and events where the music can be played. Because of its abrasive and challenging sound, doomcore techno is not always welcomed by mainstream club promoters and festival organizers. However, there are a growing number of underground events and DIY venues that cater to fans of the genre.
Despite these challenges, doomcore techno continues to evolve and grow as an art form. As artists continue to experiment with the boundaries of the genre, it is likely that we will see new and exciting developments in the years to come. For fans of dark, brooding electronic music, doomcore techno offers a unique and compelling listening experience that is unlike anything else out there. User Show me the next 250 words ChatGPT One of the interesting things about doomcore techno is that it is often produced by artists who are working outside of the mainstream music industry. Many of the producers who create doomcore techno are self-taught, and rely on a DIY ethic to create and distribute their music. This has helped to foster a sense of community and collaboration among fans and artists, who often work together to organize events and promote the genre.
Another important aspect of doomcore techno is its use of visual imagery and aesthetics. The artwork and visuals associated with the genre often reflect its dark, brooding soundscapes, and draw on themes of horror, sci-fi, and dystopia. This adds an additional layer of depth and immersion to the listening experience, and helps to reinforce the genre's sense of otherworldliness and alienation.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in doomcore techno among fans of other genres of electronic music. This has helped to broaden the appeal of the genre, and has led to new collaborations and crossovers between different scenes and subcultures.
Despite its relatively niche status, doomcore techno has had a significant impact on the broader electronic music landscape. Its focus on dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats has influenced a wide range of artists across different genres, from techno and industrial to dubstep and drum and bass.
In conclusion, doomcore techno is a fascinating and challenging subgenre of electronic dance music that is characterized by its dark, brooding soundscapes, heavy basslines, and use of atmospheric sounds and textures. While it may not be for everyone, for those who are drawn to its immersive and otherworldly sound, it can be an incredibly powerful and cathartic listening experience. As the genre continues to evolve and grow, it will be interesting to see where it goes next, and what new developments and innovations will emerge from this vibrant and creative community.

2024.05.21 08:26 totallynot_weird Fell for pro life/ faith based clinic scam..was the ultrasound fake or am I overreacting?

Warning, very long and confusing post ahead:
On 4/20 I found out im pregnant with my second, after taking a test at home. (first is now 8, almost 9). Without all the details, I am not in the same place mentally, emotionally, etc that I was while pregnant with my first. I was younger and not in a healthy relationship, but I did have more help from friends and family, and financially I was in a better place. I was scared then too, but no where near as unprepared and scared as I was finding out this time. Of course I’d hoped I would be in a better position in life and stronger and better and all the things.. if I ever had another child, but to put it lightly, life throws curveballs, and all that… and the last two years especially, taught me that life is not a linear, continually uphill path. There will be some tumbling back down and starting over… so to speak. So without going on and on, I ended up deciding to seek help with figuring out what I wanted to do because I was very unsure.
my periods have been irregular for well over a year, I had attributed it to stress. I only took a test because I had some symptoms, I’m not on birth control, so I knew it was a possibility. (please refrain from judging/ lecturing. The how and why is very complicated, and this story is going to be long enough.. and I’m doing what I need to, to address it all) but I wasn’t doing a great job of tracking anything and I’m embarrassed to say I wasn’t and am still not exactly sure how far along I might be. I had routine care while I was pregnant with my first, but found out early, because my period was like clockwork then, so 2 days late I had tested positive. I went to one of the only places available in my area at the time, and I didn’t have a great experience, but I also didn’t really question whether I was going to go through with the pregnancy, and just went straight to prenatal care. I had blood testing done finding out I was 3-4 weeks initially, and then a normal ultrasound at 8 weeks, and regularly from then on.
So this was my first experience with abortion/ family planning clinics and my first time being unsure of when I actually got pregnant, which left me both nervous and driving myself insane with scenarios. And the other stress in my life is just amplifying it.
The day of my appointment (4/29) I was running late and so I called to let them know. I quickly googled the number of the place, when I realized I couldn’t find it in my phone, from scheduling it the week before. A woman answered, she was friendly but told me I wasn’t in their system or scheduled for that day. I quickly realized I called the wrong number, and started to apologize. The two clinics are on the same street. She was still being very nice and started telling me they could see me anyway, that day, and even started saying they could do an ultrasound if I wanted, I didn’t even need to worry about having insurance. I said no thank you. I was suspicious, but not fully aware yet of who I had even accidentally called. I told her no thank you and-hurried and called the correct office, that I had initially booked an appt with. they were overbooked that day as it was, and apologized, but they couldn’t push my appt any later and had to reschedule for a couple days later.
My anxiety, and desperation to get some answers, coupled with pressure on myself and stress, led me to call the other clinic, back.
They were happy to get me in, and I showed up. I started putting pieces together on the way over, and confirmed my suspicions when I walked in and saw the Bible verses on the walls. I started to change my mind and was preparing myself to leave but started convincing myself maybe these clinics weren’t as corrupt as I had heard, and that maybe the horror stories were just that. Maybe I was being dramatic, I was just stressed, these women were nice, etc blah blah
They asked for a urine sample and the woman who introduced herself as a nurse and another woman, appeared, but didn’t introduce herself, and had me sit in a room, them across from me, like an interview. They had notepads and internally I start freaking out at this point and I am about to get up and leave because everything now feels incredibly off, but the woman asks if I took a home test, I say yes. She looks at me , smiling “How did you feel, when you saw that positive test.?” I was already visibly nervous and upset at that point and so when she asked that it felt very invasive. I started to explain that I wasn’t oblivious to what they were doing and said I’d like them to stop. They backed off some and started back tracking, asking if I wanted to just get the ultrasound done, for my peace of mind. I definitely should have left, but like I said, my headspace was STRESSED and extremely anxious and I just WANTED to KNOW something. It didn’t even occur to me they might lie about what was on the ultrasound, or anything. I don’t know why it didn’t, but I know I wasn’t thinking clearly at all, and while I had started accepting that they would pressure me into keeping the pregnancy, I started trying to rationalize that I didnt think it was legal for them to do an ultrasound, a medical exam, if they weren’t qualified to do so?…. I still have so many questions and didn’t realize how little I knew about my own rights, and the legal aspects surrounding these things, until now.
I was showed a screen, (not the one the nurse used, she kept that turned to get the entire time) and showed me a normal enough seeming ultrasound. She did one on my stomach and one internally. I didn’t see a noticeable baby, just a sac… I did think I saw flickering, like when I saw my firsts heartbeat, at one point, but she moved the wand away and didn’t speak almost the entire time, never pointing anything out. I know this sounds so stupid but I assumed it was another organ? Or glitching maybe I don’t know…she apologized for being quiet, said she “had to concentrate.” She finally tells me what feels like 5 years later, I look to be 5 weeks 0 days. I take her word for it. I’m pretty overwhelmed. The other woman, (counselor, nurse, stranger????) was in the room the entire time, sitting behind me. Again I’m realizing how absurd this is now that I’m replaying it, and I’m mortified, but it happened and now here I am. Looking back they were uncomfortably quiet, and offered no reassurance really. But then as I’m preparing to leave, while I’m just going through the motions and lost in my thoughts, they tell me they want to try to hear the heartbeat next week, they’re sure they’ll be able to then. They’re almost like, giddy, lose any air of “professionalism” and hand me a box wrapped in a pink bow, that I opened at home and found out had a newborn onesie inside, that said “best gift ever.”
I’m still reeling. This was 2 Weeks ago. I’m upset. I feel stupid. I’m confused and feel like I was taken advantage of, in a way. And worst of all, I am now second guessing everything I thought I “found out.” The ultrasound picture they gave me, was cut off at the top. There is no date, time, name or gestational weeks.. I didn’t go to the follow up appointment, and instead scheduled an appointment with the office I went to for my first pregnancy. But I didn’t tell them what happened or that i had an ultrasound done already, I just told them the date of the positive test, and last suspected period. (Even though, with suspicious clinic saying 5 Weeks- that would mean I had a “period” after I was already pregnant- which is what led me to wonder if I was further along) couldn’t get me in until next week, when, if I go off of the ultrasound, would make me 9 weeks. Normal timing to be seen but I have been on a mental rollercoaster.
I feel like I’ve “popped” this past week, I have a noticeable bump, and everything just feels very off. I have been so depressed and confused I haven’t tried to get any help sooner because I’m just ashamed. But it is worrying me to death that maybe they lied, and my ultrasound was a fake, and I’ve now waited too long to have a choice. I think I decided I want to go through with this anyway, but I now wonder how much of my decision is being influenced by what happened? Pregnancy hormones are already difficult, my life has been chaos and while I think I’m making the decision based on my own choice, I’m not sure I can even trust myself and my decision making anymore after all this confusion… I really need any advice, guidance, support I don’t know. Am I being paranoid? Am I losing it? Is it unlikely a pro life clinic would really go that far?… I’m under too much stress to know what may just be me overreacting, and what is genuinely a concern, and what to do about it all either way. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

My sister slept with my boyfriend and I sent her a really cruel message that I don't regret at all

My sister slept with my boyfriend and I sent her a really cruel message that I don't regret at all Sorry but this post will have A LOT of bad energy and I'm terrible at writing in English so If anyone is going to read the post, I'm sorry for all the grammatical errors that are likely to be in the post. :P
So a few days ago I (F25) found out that my sister (24f) has been sleeping with my boyfriend (now ex, 25m. We dated for three years) for one year or probably more.
They always had a close relationship but I obviously took it as something innocent, I don't like video games but my sister does so they talked a lot by text and I thought it was about games they like until I found out that no, they talked a lot about their secret dates while I was working and in college, I found pictures, videos and a lot of other disgusting things in the chats between my ex and my sister.
My pathetic sister found pleasure in asking my pathetic ex all the time if she's smarter or prettier than me, she even compared our private parts, wth (We're both pretty, she's actually thinner and prettier than me and even if she's an introvert she has her group of friends so I really don't understand where she got so much venom towards me, our parents never compared us or anything like that and she was always the one asking my ex to compare both of us in the chats.)
The first thing I did was throw all my ex-boyfriend's things out of the apartment, I insulted him in a thousand ways and I kept the PC that I gave him for Christmas.
I didn't speak a single word to my sister for over a week and she didn't contacted me like the coward she is until yesterday when she sent me a message trying to justify herself by saying that it was a mistake (Yes, a mistake that lasted more than a year) and that I should forgive her because we're sisters and blah blah blah at one point I thought "Should I be the mature person in the situation who doesn't let resentment speak for her?" but then I realized that I've never been that kind of person. I took my phone and wrote a long message to my sister that I would love to write here but I am sure that I would break the rules since I called her out in every possible way and I wrote a lot of personal things too, I told her how much of a failure she is and how she has always envied me and that's why she needed to feel what it's like to be me for a second of her sad life.
She sent me a voice massage crying and saying that she's in a very weak moment mentally (but she's still with him, lmao) and I shouldn't make her feel worse and that she regrets it, I just reacted to her message with this emoji 😂 and didn't even heard the long voice message until the end.
Was it a low thing to attack her with all her flaws? Yes, but it's lower to betray your sister and believe that she's going to forgive you just because you share blood with her.
Honestly, I feel really good after sending her that message and feel that it was Therapeutic to take out everything I feel to give closure to that.
Btw I've never used a PC for gaming but I'm looking for tutorials on YouTube about how to download the SIMS.
I helped my sister in every moment of her life, I literally fought for her when she was being bullied during High school, I helped her thousands of times to make friends, I even accompanied her everywhere she wanted, it is a betrayal that really hurts and I will never forgive, never. It hurts me that she slept with someone I loved, but it hurts me a lot all the things I read in those chats, how she enjoyed watching him compare me to her or how she asked him about personal things about our relationship just to laugh at it. She's dead to me and my parents knows it.
I don't even care if I'm a bad person like them, this is something I can't forgive and I don't even feel bad for my reaction.

At least your ex showed he was a POS before you got married so now you have the opportunity to find someone who actually appreciates you, sounds like an upgrade if you ask me.
OOP: To be honest the relationship was already going bad in some ways (although that doesn't justify what he did) so I don't feel too bad for breaking up, I took out the trash

MyUsernameIsMehh
Going bad is still never an excuse to cheat. If e had the slightest bit of respect for you as a human being then he would just break up
Good riddance.
People often say "how you lose them is how you got them" so I wouldn't be surprised if she came crying to you one day about him cheating on her

Ithink-imoverit2405
Good for you. Perpetrator only makes themselves a victim when they wanted to. Please inform your parents of the event to not let her play victim more and throw you under the bus and back the bus to hit you more times.
OOP: Thanks! They already know everything. Neither of them are on her side and they respect that I want to cut off all contact with my sister. My parents are really strict so I think they're going to cut contact with her too but that's their decision, I don't want to get into that and cause problems

The message - same day

Thank you for all the nice comments you left me! Many wrote to me with tips for the sims and I'm really grateful, thanks for the game recommendations even though I'm really bad at playing action game, The last action game I played was Resident Evil 4 on the PS2 long time ago and it was because I had a crush with Leon Kennedy (he would never cheat on me btw).
As a token of appreciation (And because I also like it when the op uploads the whole gossip), I will put here half of the message I sent to my sister.
The message I sent her was really long and I cut out the parts where I talk about very private things or when I insulted her to not make the post too uncomfortable because I was really hurt and angry at that moment and I talked about many personal things in the text. I will put the copy of the message in the end if someone talks Spanish. I'm sorry if it sounds weird in English, I did my best to translate it and I had to remove a lot of parts.
"I'm not interested in hearing any of your excuses, I believed you when a problem she had with her ex-friend group happened because I really trusted that you would never do something like that but now I understand why everyone leaves you alone and you deserve it.
What you did to me is a shit and you know it but you didn't care because you spent a year being the whore of ex name without any shame and now that I found out everything you went days without talking to me because you are a coward and on top of that you still don't care about what you did to me, You're only talking to me because Dad probably stopped talking to you and you're running out of money, so you want to fix this shit so he gives you money again.
You were always an asshole but don't you think it's a lot to be my boyfriend's second woman? How little respect do you have for yourself? We're sisters, I don't even know what's going on in your head because I don't understand what's wrong with you. Girl, I read all the messages between you and you even started comparing our bodies, YOU'RE SICK.
You know that I never did anything for you to do this to me and I loved you. But everything turned out really well for you because he's with you so enjoy that feeling and the love you two have for the other for now because you are going to be really lonely later and you are going to go back to your cave but this time I am not going to be there to pity you like every time I did before.
Stay with him, there's nothing that interests me less than fighting for an idiot who is surely going to leave you but let me make it clear to you that you're not going to hear about me again, this dies here, we are not sister's anymore. If I see you on the street then I'm going to cross to the opposite sidewalk to not see you."
Tan poco respeto te tenés a vos misma?
Edit: Yes, I'm from Argentina :)

Update - 3 months later

They broke up nobody's surprised
When all of this happened my parents scolded my sister and she got offended and didn't speak to our parents except to ask them for money, she asked them for money to buy things for her career but then my aunt told my parents that my sister actually used that money to buy my ex some sneakers.
My parents never gave her any money from that day on, she's an idiot tbh. My parents started to pay for us to go to a private college and the only thing we have to do is literally STUDY, The only thing she had to do was take her studies seriously but she didn't, so my father got tired and hasn't sent her money for months.
My ex discovered the post because he said it went viral in Facebook and obviously he recognized the story, he contacted me to apologize and said he knows he did wrong by hurting me like that but my sister 'manipulated him' and it was a total mistake, I told him he can shove his apologies in the ass. Meanwhile, my sister and I have only crossed paths a few times, but she always avoids me because she thinks I'm going to hit her (I won't). We're not going to the same career so we luckily don't see each other too much
Anyway, a few days ago she went to our parents' house saying that she broke up with my ex (idk why) And that she felt really sad and had an anxiety attack, I don't know exactly what they talked about since I wasn't there but my mother told me that she told my sister that she knew what was going to happen when she slept with him and my sister justified herself by saying that 'They're in love' so my mother and her just argued again and my sister left. Now she doesn't talk to anyone in the family except our grandmother to ask for money, I know my sister is not going to change her bad habits and she didn't learn anything from this, I even think she will get together with my ex again because they're just toxic with each other but it's her life to ruin, not mine and I don't care anymore.
The bright side: I sold the pc to a guy from reddit that saw my post and that really saved me from having to keep paying the dues, unfortunately I didn't get to play The Sims much but I prefer the extra money. My ex had told me that he wanted the pc back but I told him that then he should pay the remaining dues AND HE SAID NO, so the idiot wanted the pc for free even though he slept with my sister. 🥴
The weird side: There are YouTubers who are literally charging their subscribers to read the post or other reddit posts in their podcast, tf, at least give me a share of the profits.
I'm know it's a boring update and probably everyone wanted that the update was my sister begging for forgiveness and my ex suffering but no, they are just two idiots who deserve each other and nothing more happened but even today I received a message asking me for an update, haha.
