So I bought this Dell latitude 3120 laptop. It has an admin password on the system. Regardless, I was still able to use it. However that changed today and I have the blue screen of death . It says the BCD file can't be found and I have to use recovery tools. I tried that but it won't let me because of the administrator password. I contacted the person I bought it from and they said they forgot the password. I have another Dell latitude 3120 with a cracked screen. Could I just take the SSD from that laptop and swap it into this admin locked laptop? Would that work? Any thoughts on this!

I personally think that the T14 is hobbled a little by it's non-premium ambitions. On the battery front, it seems lenovo have also aimed for lock-step with its direct competitors Dell Latitude 5440 52WH and HP 840 G10 51WH batteries (G11 now offers 56WH)
I've dreamt up a restructure of the Thinkpad families focused around their target customers.
E series Current designs are dropped, and current L series shuffled down to E
L series Current T designs shuffled down to L
T series New designs with better quality plastics and screens, but still retains repairable keyboard as well as sodimms/camm. 57WH batteries optional.
S series - S stands for Slim, focusing a little more on reducing weight but does leave some performance behind compared to T series Current T14s becomes S14 Current X13 becomes S13
X remains the premium intel exclusive with a greater focus on weight than S. X1 Carbon stays X1 Yoga stays and brings back the garage pen P1 gets renamed back to X1 Extreme. I would be willing to tolerate soldered ram if wwan is returned. If you want sodimm/camm, get a P16s

- Keyboard keys paint is peeling of, despite light use (the laptop is docked 90% of the time, with external keyboard)
- Case paint is peeling of, despite careful handling and use of a transport bag from day one
- On battery, the CPU suddenly became locked to 0.38Ghz, rendering it nearly unusable. Despite a ProSupport contract, and battery only showing slight wear as per Dell diagnostic tools, I have to purchase a new one (the battery being guaranteed for 1 year and excluded from ProSupport).

For context, the laptop shown in the image is an old Dell Latitude D620 I got from my grandpa today, as he recently upgraded. I am considering using Linux Mint xfce, I will be waiting until tonight to download the iso. (my internet speed is slow) Just so you know, this is not my main PC, and will only be used when I lose power. (this happens a lot where I live) The only requirements I need are to be able to browse the Internet, and use CDs. (UPDATE: I decided to go with SparkyLinux lxqt, runs well, thank you all for the help!)

The power button works in the back light works just fine.
When I plug in an external keyboard and toggle cap clock or num lock, the lights to show on the keyboard, but none of the keys work.
Has anyone seen anything like this?

I have a Dell Wireless Keyboard KB500 paired to my Dell Latitude 3540. On my laptop, I can use the F3, for example, to increase sound, and simply do ALT+F4 to close a window. From the wireless keyboard, if Fn Lock is not enabled, I can use F3 to increase sound as well, but to close a window I need to either press ALT+Fn+F4, or enable Fn Lock and THEN do ALT+F4. But then, with Fn Lock enabled, I can't use F3 to increase sound, for example.
Is there any way to make the wireless keyboard behave the same as the laptop keyboard?

Last night after a power related Windows blue screen, the BIOS of the laptop got corrupted and unable to recover as shown in the image.
