2024.05.21 14:43 Even-Neighborhood-86 Baby in 2-3 weeks
Well, I had a whole thing typed out a week ago & didn't end up posting because I hate asking for anything.
We welcome a baby girl, due June 10th but they're pushing her for 39 weeks because it's been rough pregnancy due to endometriosis and Hyperemesis gravidarum.
We have a son that will be 4 in July. We both work full-time. We actually had a good amount of stuff given to us. It was put in storage and recently when I went to pick it up there was mold on everything. Trying to do an insurance claim but no idea how long this will even take or how they value items.
My mother passed away in 2013 & since that I really have no family to reach out to. Her family is supportive as much as they can be, but not financially.
I put together an Amazon wish list real quick when I originally was going to post this. Honestly, tried keeping it cheap besides big ticket items which I am truly not expecting help with but added them just because we need them. I'm sure there's plenty we need that wasn't added, so if you're a parent to a girl or parent in general I'm open to adding things to the list that's not on there. (Don't expect you to buy it, just open to the suggestions). I have like $90 to my name till payday and just promised to pay my cell and Internet because it's past due so after finding the storage unit like it is, I'm scrambling.
I'm 39 (m) she's 35. As stated we have a son that will be 4 in July. He is pretty high needs but getting better. He is speech delayed which causes a lot of issues and frustration within himself. He currently sees a speech and a behavioral therapist. His daycare recommended for school next fall that we get outside help through a program to get someone that's there with him the whole time which was hurtful but I understand it. They can have everyone in a circle singing and he's the one running around not paying attention or off playing.
I appreciate all y'all do for each other, even if nobody buys us a thing lol. Long time lurker that don't remember my main login. Hope one day soon I'm the one helping, not asking for it.
Thank you

2024.05.21 12:36 catgal1989 Moving to Beijing with a toddler. Looking for general tips and advice!
My husband and I are moving from Ireland to Beijing in August and plan to stay around 2 years. We'll be working in a school in the Chaoyang district and have on-campus accommodation included in our contract.
We're moving with our daughter, who will be turning 3 when we arrive. We don't have childcare organised yet but will probably have an ayi for the first few months and then look for a part-time daycare from DecembeJanuary so she can socialise with other kids. We're not sure whether we want an international or bilingual kindergarten, or whether a Chinese kindergarten would be a good way for her to learn the language. There is a Chinese kindergarten in our school.
Does anyone have any tips for finding an ayi, and any recommendations for daycare or kindergarten in the Chaoyang area? We have budgeted around 7000rmb/month total for childcare (ayi and some part-time daycare) but don't know how realistic this is! I've heard that Irish/European-style daycare doesn't really exist in China, and that international kindergartens tend to be very expensive and specialist. So maybe what we want is a playgroup or another similar activity that she could attend with the ayi?
Also if anyone has any general advice around moving to Beijing with a toddler, that would be very welcome!

2024.05.21 10:05 galleon124 Headphone recommendations for electronic music, a little bit of jpop and gaming under 1000 CAD?
TLDR at the bottom
Hello people,
I would like to say that I am not a pro in the world of audio so I apologize if I make any mistakes. I'm currently looking for headphones to listen casually to music while studying/gaming. My playlist usually consists of mostly electronic music and a few game soundtracks here and there. As for the games I usually play mostly War Thunder so I would probably need one with a decent enough soundstage and imaging.
I am currently rocking the hifiman edition xs paired with the fiio k11 that connects to my laptop since I've read reviews that planar magnetics are good for electronic music because of the bass extension so I blind bought the edition xs. However, I find that the bass on the edition xs felt off for me even after eqing with dolby atmos (peace eq doesnt work on my laptop most of the time for some reason, probably need to look more into it). I felt like the bass thumps hard but it disappears immediately after.
Here are some samples of the songs that I usually listen to:
yetep & LOCKBOX - Deep End (ft. artemis orion)
Distrion - Alibi (feat. Heleen)
Cryjaxx - I Could Be The One (E.P.O remix)
AIKA - Misery Fantasy
Steam Phunk - Curtain Call (ft. Lucy Neville)
DECO*27 - Rabbit Hole (ft. Hatsune Miku)
ROY KNOX - Memory Box
Over Easy, MiNDTRiX, Ashley Mehta - Rosé
CADMIUM X Teminite - When I Fall
Gryffin, Carly Rae Jepsen - OMG
Blue Archive OST 120: Dive into Summer
Undertale OST 089: SAVE the World
Fairlane & Point North - Not My Night
MitiS - Only One (ft. Drowsy)
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLViWq0tEA-n5k-pU1fU5tHtFcfcoZrlPr&si=rHCSBYuZdZxF9qm6 (can you put yt playlist links?)
I'm currently interested in the focal elex/clears as from what I've read people like it for electronic music, but other alternatives are welcome as long as the headphones are not too heavy (less than 500 grams perhaps?). I also dont really mind buying used as long as I can replace the earpads.
I have tried out a few headphones before owning the edition xs like the hd58x, he400se, and the hd800s
TLDR: Used/New headphone recommendations for electronic music with a little bit of jpop and game soundtracks under 1000 CAD?
Thank you very much for stopping by and reading this, I'm sorry if this is a bit long and have a nice day!

2024.05.21 09:20 Low-Entropy Part 8 - Brainstorming ideas for a Doomcore Techno track
Taken from:
https://laibyrinth.blogspot.com/2024/05/part-8-brainstorming-ideas-for-doomcore.html Hello friends and strangers, This is just a short text. Instead of a "full" tutorial, this is essentially just chatting and brainstorming with ChatGPT about the genre of Doomcore Techno. It should give you a hint about how knowledgeable ChatGPT is about music, production, and strange subgenres. If you hold a similar conversation with ChatGPT yourself, you could easily expand it into more creative territories, for example if you follow up on some of ChatGPTs ideas and request specific instructions. Note: this is a talk I had with ChatGTP very early on; so it still uses the "show me the first 250 words of..." trick that was common at the time; I don't assume that this would still be necessary with newer versions of ChatGPT. ---Start of chat transcript User What are some good ideas for a Doomcore Techno track?
ChatGPT Doomcore Techno is a subgenre of techno that often features dark and industrial sounds with a focus on heavy basslines and aggressive percussion. Here are some ideas that could be incorporated into a Doomcore Techno track:
- Start with a heavy bassline: A pounding, distorted bassline is a hallmark of Doomcore Techno, and could form the foundation for the track.
- Experiment with industrial sounds: Incorporating industrial sounds such as metallic clangs, machinery noises, and industrial percussion can add to the dystopian atmosphere of the track.
- Use dissonant melodies: Doomcore Techno often features dissonant melodies that create a sense of unease or tension. Experimenting with minor or diminished scales can help achieve this.
- Create an intense build-up: Slowly building up the intensity of the track through the use of filter sweeps, increasing tempo, and adding layers of sound can create a sense of anticipation that pays off when the beat drops.
- Focus on the rhythm: The percussion in Doomcore Techno is often complex and relentless, with the use of multiple layers of drum sounds, syncopated rhythms, and polyrhythms. Experimenting with different time signatures or unusual rhythms can add to the complexity and intensity of the track.
- Use vocal samples or distortion: Adding distorted vocal samples or processing existing vocal samples can add to the aggression and intensity of the track.
- Incorporate breaks and drops: Introducing breakdowns, drops, or other changes in the rhythm can create a sense of tension and release in the track, and give the listener a moment to catch their breath before the intensity ramps up again.
Overall, the key to a successful Doomcore Techno track is to create a dark and intense atmosphere that keeps the listener engaged and on edge.
User Show me the first 250 words of a 3000 word text explaining the characteristics of doomcore techno.
ChatGPT Doomcore techno is a relatively new subgenre of electronic dance music that emerged in the late 2000s. It is characterized by its dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats. The music is often described as bleak and nihilistic, with a focus on the darker aspects of human existence.
One of the defining characteristics of doomcore techno is its use of heavy, distorted basslines. These basslines are often created using distortion effects and other processing techniques that give them a harsh, abrasive quality. They are typically played at a slower tempo than other genres of techno, which gives them a weighty, almost suffocating feel.
Another key element of doomcore techno is its use of atmospheric sounds and textures. These can range from eerie, ambient drones to samples of distorted, industrial machinery. The goal is to create a sense of unease and tension that builds throughout the track.
Doomcore techno also makes use of vocal samples, although these are often heavily processed and distorted to the point where they are almost unrecognizable. These samples are used to create a sense of dread and foreboding, and to reinforce the nihilistic themes that are often present in the music.
The use of percussion is also an important aspect of doomcore techno. The drums are typically heavily processed, with a focus on creating a sense of weight and impact. This is achieved through the use of distortion, compression, and other effects that give the drums a powerful, almost explosive quality.
In terms of song structure, doomcore techno tracks are often long and repetitive, with a focus on creating a hypnotic, trance-like state in the listener. This is achieved through the use of simple, repetitive melodic motifs that are repeated throughout the track.
Overall, doomcore techno is a challenging and often unsettling genre of music that is not for everyone. But for those who are drawn to its dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats, it can be an incredibly powerful and cathartic experience.
User Show me the next 250 words
ChatGPT One of the key influences on doomcore techno is the industrial music of the 1980s and 1990s. This genre of music was characterized by its aggressive, machine-like sound, and its focus on themes of alienation and despair. Many of the artists who create doomcore techno draw inspiration from this tradition, and incorporate elements of industrial music into their own work.
Another important influence on the genre is the ambient and experimental music of the 1990s and 2000s. Many of the sounds and textures used in doomcore techno are reminiscent of the experimental soundscapes created by artists like Brian Eno and Aphex Twin. This reflects the genre's focus on creating atmospheric and immersive soundscapes that transport the listener to a different mental space.
Doomcore techno has a small but dedicated following, and there are several record labels and artist collectives that specialize in the genre. These labels often release limited edition vinyl records and tapes, which are highly sought after by collectors and fans of the genre.
One of the challenges facing doomcore techno is the difficulty of finding venues and events where the music can be played. Because of its abrasive and challenging sound, doomcore techno is not always welcomed by mainstream club promoters and festival organizers. However, there are a growing number of underground events and DIY venues that cater to fans of the genre.
Despite these challenges, doomcore techno continues to evolve and grow as an art form. As artists continue to experiment with the boundaries of the genre, it is likely that we will see new and exciting developments in the years to come. For fans of dark, brooding electronic music, doomcore techno offers a unique and compelling listening experience that is unlike anything else out there.
User Show me the next 250 words
ChatGPT One of the interesting things about doomcore techno is that it is often produced by artists who are working outside of the mainstream music industry. Many of the producers who create doomcore techno are self-taught, and rely on a DIY ethic to create and distribute their music. This has helped to foster a sense of community and collaboration among fans and artists, who often work together to organize events and promote the genre.
Another important aspect of doomcore techno is its use of visual imagery and aesthetics. The artwork and visuals associated with the genre often reflect its dark, brooding soundscapes, and draw on themes of horror, sci-fi, and dystopia. This adds an additional layer of depth and immersion to the listening experience, and helps to reinforce the genre's sense of otherworldliness and alienation.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in doomcore techno among fans of other genres of electronic music. This has helped to broaden the appeal of the genre, and has led to new collaborations and crossovers between different scenes and subcultures.
Despite its relatively niche status, doomcore techno has had a significant impact on the broader electronic music landscape. Its focus on dark, brooding soundscapes and heavy, pounding beats has influenced a wide range of artists across different genres, from techno and industrial to dubstep and drum and bass.
In conclusion, doomcore techno is a fascinating and challenging subgenre of electronic dance music that is characterized by its dark, brooding soundscapes, heavy basslines, and use of atmospheric sounds and textures. While it may not be for everyone, for those who are drawn to its immersive and otherworldly sound, it can be an incredibly powerful and cathartic listening experience. As the genre continues to evolve and grow, it will be interesting to see where it goes next, and what new developments and innovations will emerge from this vibrant and creative community.

2024.05.21 06:20 evillittleweirdguy Content wishlist from HD1, what would you like to see in the game?
Leaving aside the contentious issue of weapon balancing, what additions would you like to see in HD2? Are there any QoL changes that you think would improve the game?
Just in case you've not played HD1, here's my wishlist of things that don't really have equivalents in HD2 (yet).
Missions
Mission Types
The regular mission objectives from HD1 have mostly returned in one form or another. Mission types we haven't seen yet:
- Escort Convoy. Defend a train as it travels between two buildings. Honestly, this one seems unlikely to be added, since HD2 has scaled down the power a fair bit, and this mission type tended to require more cc/zone control than we currently have.
- Defuse Unexploded Ordnance, enables a minesweeper stratagem. Unexploded ordnance must be detected and defused, either by directional inputs or by 'safely' detonating them. Expect accidentals.
- Enemy Masters (Bosses). Pray.
Terrain Types
The only glaring omission currently is the urban environments seen in the HD1 defensive operations. These are relatively simple city grids with plenty of buildings and the occasional civic space (which may or may not contain artillery or anti-air emplacements).
Weapons (Primary/Secondary)
Every weapon in HD1 has a couple of upgrades that are purchased with samples. While HD2 doesn't follow up in the same way, there's definitely space to add in weapons that bring back those properties. Here's a few of the weapons and/or upgrades that we're currently missing out on (or at least, it feels like it)
Primary:
- AR-20L 'Justice' features rounds that pass through light/medium enemies. The 'unstoppable' feature probably would not be as effective in a 3D environment, but would still be welcome on higher enemy count missions.
- DBS-2 'Double Freedom', a one handed double barrel incendiary shotgun with a fast reload. This bad boy had a massive spread (90°+) that meant you could reliably take out scouting parties before they called in a breach.
- RX-1 Railgun. My beloved. What have they done to you? Unstoppable rounds pass through everything but the heaviest armor, and each round also stuns for about a second, stopping chargers in their tracks. No charge time. Multiple rounds in each mag. Dealt less damage overall (2-shots for medium bugs), but the control is incredibly valuable for keeping big targets locked down.
- M2016 'Constitution', a rounds-reload bayonet stick with decent damage. Mostly just fun memes.
- LAS-13 Trident. Laser shotgun. A reliable staple of HD1 that can consistently deal with medium armoured enemies. You will see at least one in the majority of squads.
- SMG-34 Ninja. Less common outside pre-made full stealth meme squads. One handed, silenced. Higher damage but lower mag than other SMGs. Does not have the ministun/stagger of other SMGs.
Secondary:
- FLAM-24 'Pyro'. Not amazing, but workable in a pinch.
- PLAS-3 'Singe'. Perhaps underwhelming, but I found it pretty fun to use every now and then.
Stratagems
Support Weapons and Backpacks
Most of the support weapons have resurfaced in the new galactic war, but there are a couple that are still collecting dust in the Super earth arsenal.
- MGX-42 Machine Gun, the EAT-17 of machine guns. No reloads, but it has 400 bullets and has paid for express delivery. Very high rate of fire with good damage.
- M-25 'Rumbler'. Do you enjoy mortar turrets? Do you want to be a mortar turret? Arguably the most deadly strategem in HD1. A bit of a pain to aim and fire, but the upgraded toxic shells obliterate pretty much everything.
- TOX-13 'Avenger'. Toxic flamethrower. Not necessarily a huge standout, but the slow it applies is definitely a nice positive.
- MLS-4X 'Commando'. Up to 8 homing Armor piercing missiles. Less punch than an RL-112, but made up for by good range and the higher total area each reload can cover. Does not require lock on, just fire in the general direction of the enemy.
- REP-80. Healing beam/repair tool. Is extremely valuable in high level exterminates for keeping mechs and turrets alive. The bleedout mechanic in HD1 is definitely a big contributor to this support equipment's effectiveness.
- REC-6 'Demolisher'. Remotely detonated anti-everything high explosive satchel charge. Very effective. Definitely a good option for high difficulty missions.
- AD-289 'Angel'. It's a guard dog, but it shoots you. With healing bullets. Well, a healing laser. Not necessarily a widely used stratagem, but I could see it being useful in HD2.
Vehicles
We're likely going to see some form of a few of these showing up in the future.
- EXO-48 'Obsidian'. Mech with 2 dual autocannons. Some of you are already salivating at the thought of having 4 times the autocannon.
- EXO-51 'Lumberer'. Mech with a flamethrower and a massive anti-tank cannon. Autocannons are 20mm. This monster is 90mm. If this mech shows up and doesn't blast charger heads off bodies, I'm rioting.
- TD-110 'Bastion'. Main cannon size isn't listed, but it's in the range of "there is no charger, and no trace of the charger or any of its relatives ever existing". SEAF artillery on wheels.
- MC-109 'Hammer' motorcycle. Cute thing with a sidecar. Kinda more memey than good, but fun to play with.
Defensive Stratagems
- Distractor beacon. Enemy patrols prioritise this 'turret' over you, making stealth notably easier for a little while.
- A/RX-34 Railcannon Turret. Honestly, this is quite similar to the current autocannon turret. Has unstoppable rounds, but does not share the stun of its primary counterpart.
- 'Humblebee' UAV drone. Basically just a radar station in stratagem form. I expect this one is unlikely to appear.
- AT-47 Anti-Tank emplacement. Manned turret with a massive gun. Is either the 90mm cannon featured in other stratagems, or larger.
- Anti-Personnnel Barrier. Low CD fast deploying barbed wire. Applies a massive slow to anything smaller than tanks/chargers.
Offensive
We've got almost all of the HD1 offensive stratagems in some form.
- 'Hellfire' Incendiary Bomb. The key difference from the existing Napalm Airstrike is the effectiveness of the lingering fire - Hellfire strikes last quite a while and would consistently be able to kill even large enemies with a bit of CC.
- 'Shredder' missile strike. 500kg eagle strikes are nice, but their use-case is as a dedicated anti-tank/anti-objective stratagem. When you really just need everything in a 100m radius to not be there anymore, this is the strategem for you. Features optional warning sirens.
Perks
Instead of boosters and armor traits, you selected perks in each mission. These perks applied only to yourself.
- MD-99 Autoinjector. Boosts effectiveness of healing, makes recovering from being downed faster. A HD2 equivalent would probably be an armor that can automatically apply a stim when you would take lethal damage.
- Stratagem Priority. All your stratagems cool down 40% faster. I could see this perk on technical special operations armor.
- Displacement Field. Automatically teleports you out of danger upon taking lethal damage. No guarantees against the teleport destination involving more danger. Would also be a strong contender as an armor perk.
- Precision Call-In. Reduce all call-ins by 1 second.
- All-terrain boots. Negates all terrain movement penalties. Does not negate lava spurts, static fields, surface fires, or lethal drops.

2024.05.21 03:18 Capable_Arachnid7275 Need help with my 2 year Shina Inu
Ok, so my dog Yoda has been acting extremely strange for the past 2 weeks, and I’m out of ideas. We moved to New Mexico 2.5 months ago, and he dealt with the move fine. Noticed no issues with anxiety from the move. About a month and a half ago, he had non stop diarrhea. I put him on a 24 hour fast, and then started feeding again, and it continued. I changed dog food, and he imidiately stopped going diarrhea. Then about 2 weeks ago, something randomly changed. He began shaking throughout the day, became very clingy, and tried to bite through and jump over a baby gate I have to separate him from our cats litter box and food. His appetite also plummeted. I got worried, and took him to the vet. Blood test a few low levels, and urine sample low pottasium. They prescribed gabapentin to see if it was pain somewhere affecting his behavior. We retested blood and urine a week later, and all tests were back in levels. They did an X ray, and a cortisol level check to rule out addisons. No issues with either. The prescribed 2 cans of a bland dog food to help him eat, which he did, just reluctantly. Once that was gone, he went back to his normal food, and was eating it, just in lower quantities, until 3 days ago, he completely stopped eating. I was able to get him to eat a little bit yesterday and today, but it is definitely nowhere near his daily caloric intake need. He is still shaking sometimes, and follows me around the house very closely. When I sit on the couch, he gets up on the arm rest next to me, rests his head on me and just shakes. The vet wants to do an ultrasound next, but I’m losing confidence in this new vet and thinking they’re just trying to squeeze every last dime out of me. $1100 over two vet visits with nothing to show for it. To give him the gabapentin I’ve always hid it in some cheese, but as of three days ago, he refused to even eat cheese, and am struggling to get him to take the pill. I honestly don’t know where to go from here. Any advice is greatly welcomed. Thank you

2024.05.21 02:55 untitledbillionaire Removing hype, which fragrances are *actually* worth the price tag to you?
I'll start by saying that I find almost all fragrances overpriced these days. It's not that I can't afford them - god knows my collection is nearing 100 bottles - but let's be honest...most of them aren't worth the exorbitant price tags. This includes both designer and niche.
With that said, certain fragrances have impressed me, especially for the price.
Here are those:
- Prada Amber Pour Homme.
I paid $99 AUD or thereabouts. This fragrance not only smells classically beautiful, but it also performs noticeably well. It's one of 2 fragrances I've bought backup bottles for (the only other one is Tom Ford Noir Extreme which is ludicrously overpriced these days).
- Gris Charnel Extrait.
I sampled this, and upon smelling the drydown, purchased a bottle at full retail. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest perfumes ever created. It's opulent, genuinely unique and performs like a world-renowned orchestra. It's loud when it needs to be, but also reins it in and can be intimate in the right moments. For such an expensive fragrance, I believe the price is justified.
- Victor & Rolf, Spicebomb EDT.
This is superior to the Extreme. It's also $80AUD at Chemist Warehouse. It smells like warm, yet clean spices and fills a room. For an $80 fragrance, I believe this rivals many niche fragrances.
- Creed, Green Irish Tweed.
This is bordering on being overpriced, but I can't deny one of the most iconic gentleman's fragrances to ever grace our noses. There's a reason this is favoured by Hugh Jackman, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood and (formerly) Cary Grant. If it's good enough for A-List Celebrities who can afford everything under the sun, then it's good enough for me.
Other than these 4 fragrances, I struggle to think of many others that are genuinely worth their price tags.
For reference, my collection includes fragrances such as:
- Xerjoff Naxos
- Creed Aventus
- MFK Grand Soir
- Chanel Sycomore
- Dior Homme Intense
- Ombre Leather
- Tobacco Vanille
- Tuscan Leather
- Grey Vetiver
- Molecule 01 & 02
- Black Orchid
- By The Fireplace
- Costa Azzura
- Beau De Jour ...to name a few.
None of those are worth the price, even though I love how they smell.
Now to you. Which fragrances are worth the price in your opinion? I welcome discussion!

2024.05.21 02:11 LITEweaver Tips for new diagnosis
Hey all! My brother (14) just got diagnosed last Friday and I'm putting together a sort of survival guide with tips that doctors don't tell you. Having had Addison's for nearly 5 years now, I (25) have a few of my own but I feel having info from a larger sample size could help him learn about how to manage his own symptoms and help him (and my parents) feel a little less lost.
That said, what have been your biggest life hacks/ tips/ tricks/ fun facts for dealing with Addison's? Serious or funny are welcome 😁

2024.05.21 02:02 RiskingAllBiscuits [26/M/US] - dad joke enthusiast, looking for more jokes and conversation
Hello, hello!
I just finished my last day as a substitute teacher this year, and am ready to wind down with some good conversation and sharing a few dad jokes along the way. Here’s a facepalm-worthy sampling:
What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire? Frostbite.
I needed a password eight characters long, so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Aside from my work, I’m interested in talking about video games, movies and television (watching The Twilight Zone as I type this), and have been getting into landscaping lately. Everyone from all nationalities is welcome to send me a DM if what they’re picking up what I’m putting down.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

2024.05.21 01:40 CazOnReddit A Speedrunner's Guide to Bruce Brown - And What Can Be Done on Draft Night (Part 3)
| Welcome to Part 3 of the pre-draft deadline Bruce Brown breakdown. If you missed the previous parts then feel free to check them out below: Part 1 Part 2 For part 3, we're sticking in California with another team that is poised to make some changes this offseason. It's unfortunate for Sacramento that Huerter had a down year but the Kings are in a similar spot to Toronto, in as much as they need more talent added to their roster and shouldn't be dumping contract after contract. The difference - aside from one core likely being at their peak while the other is still in the midst of developing - is that the Kings don't have a ton of options to improve from where they are due to that lack of internal development to raise their ceiling. Between the protections on their pick owed to the Hawks as a result of the Huerter trade limiting their ability to put together a competitive package for an impact player right now and the lack of notable prospects aside from Keegan Murray - who came in to the league as an older prospect - there aren't a ton of assets for Sacramento to toss around nor avenues to pursue unless they want to trade some distant (read: 2028 or further) 1sts. All that being said...in the off-chance the Kings revert back to the bad decision-making that has defined them for over a decade and they are open to trading to get off of a multi-year contract for a consecutive season, it really depends on how you feel about Huerter or Barnes. No, not Scottie, the guy the Raptors lost their chance at drafting due to a coinflip. Kevin has been awful ever since last year's playoffs but historically, he's been a good 3-point shooter and a mediocre defender. In terms both simple and complimentary to both players, he's a realistic outcome for Gradey Dick with worse passing/court vision. With the Raptors already having Dick, however, adding Huerter makes for a redundant addition as far as their "buy-low" candidates are concerned, even if Kevin does bounce back, that would serve to take away time from Gradey and his development. Huerter as far as role and expectations go may be a realistic outcome for Gradey when he turns the same age as the 26 year-old Kevin, but Dick's skillset as a rookie includes notably better passing and off-ball movement that adds more to the offense than Huerter has been capable of. If they rehab his value successfully then it becomes a much easier sell - both on the trade and on eventually trading him away - to take him on for part of the season but if a bounceback was guaranteed, he wouldn't be worth consideration for a Bruce Brown trade. As an alternative, there's Harrison Barnes; Barnes is under contract for another year after 2024/25 and while he has shown serious signs of regression, him boasting a significant playoff experience as well as championship experience from his time with the Golden State Warriors would provide a valuable veteran presence on the team. Even in his career's twilight years, Harrison still manages to shoot the 3 well - he shot 38% on a little under 5 attempts per game for the Kings - so it wouldn't make for the worst placeholder roster spot while the Raptors figure out their future frontcourt. As Sacramento has kept their pick due to losing in the play-in, a trade with them can go on of two ways. They can either have the higher pick be the main piece along with a reclamation project like Chris Duarte (Who is being paid a not insignificant $5.8 million) and one of the two mediocre contracts in Barnes or Huerter, or they can resolve the backup PG position with one of the many 2021 draftees up for an offseason extension in Davion Mitchell in addition to moving on up in the draft. https://preview.redd.it/t7lw7zjtrn1d1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62a2a66b21ac13fdfedab552966aaccc47e56421 Also known as D-Mitch 2.0, the younger of the two Mitchells with a D (No relation to Donovan, it's just a nickname) has not lived up to that moniker. An excellent on-ball defender whose offensive game has historically lagged far behind his defensive prowess, his finishing & outside shooting have been suspect since being drafted. While Mitchell was shooting better overall post-All-Star break this season - he was averaging 41.6% from 3 and driving to the rim with far more efficiency - it is a relatively small sample size of games on a less than significant volume. For context, Davion only shot an average of 2.8 attempts per game over this 28 game stretch which is hardly convincing as far as turnaround is concerned. He's never been known as a 3-point shooter and his 3rd year in the league was an overall mixed bag but as a potential backup guard, he's a decent option despite his limited upside at the age of 25. The main issue for Sacramento concerning Mitchell is that, like Moses Moody on the Warriors, Mitchell does need to be extended in the offseason to not risk losing him in restricted free agency and the Kings are increasingly close to hitting the luxury tax apron with a season before said extension kicks in. They're two away from having to worry about paying Keegan Murray, with those extensions likely to occur in the following offseason. With Mitchell's sporadic performance in 2023/24 and a notable sophomore slump that preceded it, it's likely he'll be entering this offseason as a massive question mark for any team that adds him to their roster - or the Kings if he remains with them. More importantly, and this should go without saying, if the Kings have to choose between paying/keeping Keegan Murray and Davion Mitchell, they're choosing Keegan Murray so his time in Sacramento may be limited a la Quickley outperforming what the Knicks were willing to pay him. Chris Duarte, on the other hand, has quietly been on a downwards spiral since achieving All-Rookie 2nd Team back in 2022. The 6'6 swingman had a decent outing with the Pacers, shooting a hot 36.9% from 3 and averaging 13 points before finding his role diminished, his sophomore slump mired by injury and inconsistent shooting, and his offseason seeing him traded to the Kings in the summer for a pair of seconds. His time in Sacramento? Uneventful, to say the least. A career low across the board and with Chris being on the older side (He's just as old as Kevin Huerter at 26), it's not unreasonable to think that Duarte is at his peak even if he were given greater opportunity. He's not a terrible player but despite being drafted as a high floor, low ceiling player, he has rarely made his presence off the bench known post-rookie season. Whatever else can be said about Davion, his defense is likely to get him a second contract, the question is for how much. With Chris, his future in the NBA is dubious at the moment and he's almost certainly entering the season without an extension. As far as alternative draft capital is concerned i.e. "not their 2024 1st", the Kings do have a few interesting seconds, most notably the 45th pick in this draft and a 2025 2nd from the Blazers that's not protected but otherwise don't have a lot of options outside of the 13th pick in this year's draft. As mentioned before, their draft capital is locked up for the time being due to a trade with the Hawks and thus they don't have a lot of options to up the talent on the roster. The Kings do need to shake up their roster but it's an open question as to how they should do so with them likely out of any offseason star sweepstakes on the horizon and so few teams looking to sell. Conclusion Here's our TL;DR so far: Team | Player(s) | Years left on contract | Pick(s) [Post-lottery] | Incoming salary (2024) | Net salary added to the Raptors (2024) | Chicago Bulls | Lonzo Ball | 1; player option in 2024/25 | 11th, 2025 Blazers 1st | $21.3 million | -1.6$ million | Atlanta Hawks | De'Andre Hunter | 3 | 2025 Kings 1st | $21.7 million | -$1.3 million | Utah Jazz | John Collins | 2; player option in 2025/26 | 8th (Only an option if we keep our 1st), 2025 Timberwolves/Cavaliers 1st | $26.6 million | +$3.6 million | Golden State Warriors | Chris Paul OR Andrew Wiggins; Moses Moody OR Trayce Jackson-Davis | 1 (team option - Paul, Moody), 3 (Wiggins, Jackson-Davis) | 52nd, 2025 or 2026 1st | $26.2-$30 million | +$3.2 to +$7 million (Trade exception to absorb Moody, TJD if included in the trade) | Sacramento Kings | Kevin Huerter OR Harrison Barnes, Davion Mitchell &/or Chris Duarte | 2 (Huerter, Barnes), 1 w/rookie extension eligibility this offseason (Duarte, Mitchell) | 13th, 45th, 2025 2nd via Blazers | $22.7 million to $30.3 million | -$0.3 million to +7.3 million (Trade exception to absorb one of Mitchell, Duarte if one is included in the trade but not both) | submitted by CazOnReddit to torontoraptors [link] [comments] |
2024.05.21 01:29 ruebarbara_ Anxious about toddler and baby
Brought home our 3 day old baby yesterday, toddler is 23 months. Navigating this is super hard and I’m so anxious about it. Toddler is acting like baby should be his and keeps trying to grab baby. We’ve tried to explain it’s his sister and it’s mom and dad’s baby, but he isn’t getting it. He’s super volatile and of course I think he has a daycare cold so that’s great timing. We tried to just put baby in bassinet where he can’t reach her and put all attention on him and he won’t leave the bassinet alone. He’s also super attached to me, mom, and cries for me if I’m not free and available, even if baby needs me. I know it’s super early in the transition but any advice is welcome. I’m feeling sick to my stomach that my toddler is gonna injure the baby by accident or that the toddler is going to start acting out because of it all. TIA!
