In 2022 I was able to take Elagolix for treatment for about 3 months. My insurance denied further coverage so I was unable to afford it.
I was basically left with no options, but to just suck it up. I’ve been dealing with severe endometriosis pain since I was 10, I’m now 24. I have chronic gastritis due to constantly needing and taking NSAIDs for the pain, eventually more than the recommended dosages which messed up my stomach permanently.
My OBGYN wouldn’t prescribe me anything stronger than Naproxen which was the biggest slap in the face. Since stopping Elagolix, I began taking the combination birth control Lessina and after about 3 months of taking it consistently, my periods stopped being irregular and it reduced my endometriosis pain about 70% which was amazing to me.
I’ve been on Lessina for a year and a half, however my new gynecologist needs to check my hormones so I stopped it two weeks ago for blood tests tomorrow.
Endometriosis pain was an everyday thing before the birth control, except for when I got my periods. Since stopping it two weeks ago, I am severely bloated and in pain. My back and pelvis, especially the right side hurt like crazy.
For sure I’m not constipated, but idk what to do about this pain and bloating. I look 7 months pregnant. I don’t miss this pain, it has negatively affected my life for so long and the thought of it legit terrifies me.

hi, i’m 2 days on lamictal. so far, the only uncomfortable physical side effects are i sweat a little bit more than usual, i get a little dizzy after moving around, and i’m a bit more sensitive to bright lights. my dosage is 25mg but i’m sure my psychiatrist intends on increasing it.
i plan on working as a camp counselor this summer, but i worry that this medicine will make that more difficult for me to do. i’m just concerned and want to see some opinions, and/or some advice on how to take better care of myself better during the heat if it is an issue.

I use Opus for neuroscience research. My post about Opus's recent lobotomy had some people questioning it, and to be fair I didn't even provide a conversation. Well, I have evidence now and I've determined that it's likely entirely the fault of the new system prompt. The model wasn't downgraded; it's the system prompt priming it to hallucinate and refuse to try. Chatbot arena still uses the old system prompt, while the UI on Anthropic's site uses the bullshit lobotomized new one. Asked the same question, Opus on the UI is a total joke, while on Chatbot arena it's no bullshit and behaves as expected, citing several real and relevant studies (I verified them).
Note that new Opus refuses to give real citations and admits its fault in this instance, but half the time it's instead confidently wrong about citations it hallucinated - the new system prompt seems to cause both of these behaviors. Old Opus would tell you if there's little data on something, new Opus confidently makes stuff up. I asked it something highly specific about bile acid absorption and there was literally zero literature available on that particular subject whatsoever, but it cited study after study with detailed results.

Son 8.5 M, 45 lbs has abdominal pain since February. He doesn't go to school and stays in bed most of the time. It happened before but not as severe and went away after a month or so. We realize we need to wait longer for Amitripltyne to work but we are concened that he has rear good days (hours) and in bed most of the time. Normally he is a bright, fun and social boy and now doesn't leave his bed. Could this be something not tested for?

8.5 years old has been constipating for many years. He has been diagnosed with encopresis in 2021. Ever since he was diagnosed with encopresis He was on MiraLAX .5 to .75 cup twice a day. This helped him to control his constipation. During all this time except for approximately a few weeks he was soiling his pants almost daily. He was also frequently complaining about abdominal pain. Per doctor’s recommendation we were reminding him to sit on the toilet after each meal. Feeding him with homemade meals and we try to limit processed food. We did physical therapy and psychologist therapy. He has a toilet foot stool and seat.
About 1 year ago (January 2023), a bowel cleanup was performed per Max’s pediatrician recommendations. One cupful of MiraLAX was given every 3 hours. (No fasting or clear food diet was recommended)
During that time evacuated lots of poops with diarrhea content. We did not achieve the yellow fluid and stopped after a couple of days. Since this cleanup Max experienced severe abdominal pain for about a month.
Per GI doctor recommendation, we were no longer doing cleanup to avoid severe abdominal pain. Instead, Max was back on his MiraLAX dose .75 cup twice a day with fiber gummies 4mg a day.
He has good apetite most of the time, except after a dose of Exlax. His stool was always help soft over these years.
Notes from GI visit April 22nd - Today he has more guarding, mild distension and tenderness. I can't tell if he has a surgical abdomen (ie volvulus, appendicitis) but it is not associated with vomiting or eating. I have done 5 shots. The last one I moved to a 5 and in my stomach it totally kicked my a$$. I’ve injected in thigh and butt. But last time in stomach and I felt awful and want to quit but rethinking. My Dr. upped mine after a month but I kinda directed him to as thats what I was told.
📌When did you up your dosage from 2.5 to 5? 📌I don’t know if I’m just not a good candidate or if I switch to my thigh it might be better?
I had the worse constipation month one and fatigue. But the first shot on the 5 and in the stomach, it was unbearable for several days. I was so nauseous with zero appetite, bad stomach and antacid as well as mental health symptoms.

But the sore throat and fatigue turned into swollen neck and difficulty swallowing, headaches and brain fog, muscle aches, immediate weight gain, and much more fatigue. Turned out the supplement targeted toward thyroid health that I decided to take after listening to a podcast about how I should be taking more Selenium, also contains 8000% daily value of Iodine. I only took it for a week, maybe two and I’m still not feeling great and it’s been at least two weeks since I’ve stopped taking the supplement. I had been feeling okay for so long and then all of a sudden, it hit me like a truck. Who thought 8000% DV was a healthy dosage?

I’m going to do a short/long story about my recent experiences. I’m 6’4 286 pounds, and have been injured since January of 1998. I’ve had more than 14 surgeries in a little over 3 years, and I’m scheduled for another one on June 2nd. We live in the mountains over 170+ miles away from where most of my doctors are located. I have a basic PCP here, and the city I go for my doctors is suffering a huge shortage in care. I just had a shoulder and neck surgery at the start of the year, both on the right side. I’ve had no problems in regards of care, until recently when I was transferred from my surgical team to pain management. I was taking 10mg of OxyCodine 4 times a day or as needed. I have some days where I need 5-6, and others where I might take 2-3 max. I’m very honest with my doctors, and I’m willing to try anything new or old. I’ve lost around 200 pounds over the last 5 years, and finally got out of my wheelchair last year. Anyway I went to the pain doctor, and she said that I she would continue the meds for the next 3-6 months. However wanted to try some other options after that, and I said sure no problem. I’m always willing to try or take anything, and I’m a huge health person now. I said heck why wait, I’d be willing to try anything now. However I wanted to be able to get my regular pain meds if needed for an emergency or other reasons. She said no problem and agreed with that, and wrote me a script for Buprenotphine 2mg twice daily. She also added that to not take for 12 hours after any OxyCodine, and I agreed. I had less than 10 pain meds left, so I figured I would be ok for now. However 29 days ago I had a fall, which I messed up my lower left back. And the pain was radiating from my right neck to my lower back. I contacted the pain doctor, and she said she would send in a script. However I needed to be seen, so that she could have an idea of what is going on. My wife and I went to the hospital ER, where they did X-rays of my back. The er doctor was going to write me a prescription, but I told her I had a pain doctor. After the hospital we went to get the prescription, and she had wrote 6 5mg pills for 3 days ? I was like wth is this supposed to do, I’m a bigger person obviously this was not going to help? The hospital referee me is the spinal doctors, with notes stating I needed immediate care. The next morning I called the pain doctor, and she said that I would need to drive 170 miles to get another prescription. Im in severe pain and asked her if it’s possible to get 5-6 pills for the long drive there? She declined to do it, and said she had to see me before she could give me anything more? She wanted me to come the next day, but I had another appointment scheduled with my internal doctor over the multiple hernias in my stomach groin. I’ve had surgery for them prior but they broke down. The pain doctor said if I don’t come tomorrow it’s going to be 10+ days before she could see me? However she was willing to increase the dosage of the Buprenorphine to 3 a day. And would have her assistance call to schedule an appointment. I asked if there’s a problem with what we discussed prior, and she didn’t respond. She say there a minute and said that she isn’t even comfortable increasing the new ones. I said again what about our prior plans, and I was the one who requested the new ones sooner, and she said that I needed to try heat and cold compress. So being the honest straight forward person I am, I asked if there was a problem, and again what’s going on ? She said she doesn’t remember anything about that, and that she wants to stick to what I have? I then said are you a Pain Doctor or a person who should be working as a Recovery Doctor? This happened about 16 days ago, she’s since excused herself from being my doctor. In now back in my wheelchair full time and looking at another doctor in another state. In the meantime it’s sat 29 and I’m in some serious pain right now, and not sure how much longer I can take it?

TL;DR: After 3 miscarriages and a diagnosis of DOR, I had two healthy pregnancies without IVF or other ART.
We started TTC when I was 35.5, my partner 37. We got pregnant quickly, and quickly had 3 miscarriages, all around 8 or 9 weeks. We never had them tested, but my OB suspected genetic abnormalities.
My partner's test results were normal for a man his age. After the 2nd miscarriage, I had bloodwork and an SHG, a procedure where my OB filled my uterus with saline and looked at it on an ultrasound to see whether I had any visible issues that could explain what was wrong. This procedure was timed to a specific day in my menstrual cycle, so that while we were at it, she could look at my ovaries on the ultrasound as well, to make a prediction about how many eggs she could expect to retrieve if we decided to try IVF.
The SHG turned out normal. My uterus was perfectly fine. My ovaries, however, looked like those of a woman nearing menopause. My antral follicle count (AFC) was only 4. If we did IVF now, the doctor said, that’s how many eggs she expected to harvest -- just 4. Not nearly enough for a promising cycle. The results from the blood test also corresponded to the levels of a menopausal woman. Here are the numbers, for those of you who already know what these mean:
Day 3 AMH: 0.311
Estradiol: 23.8
FSH: 13.8
I might have looked 30 on the outside, but I’d just turned 36, and on the inside I was closer to 50. Our doctor did not recommend that we move forward with IVF. We asked her what we could do instead. She suggested I try supplementing with DHEA, and gave us the recommended dosage (25 mg 3 times/day, for a total of 75 mg daily). She also recommended CoQ10, though she didn’t have a suggested dosage for that, and noted that my vitamin D levels were low. I started supplementing with each of those three things.
I noticed the effects of the DHEA very quickly. It’s an androgen, and can cause women to start sprouting extra body hair. My libido sprang up to teenager levels, and I got acne again.
I decided to take only 200 mg/day of the CoQ10 because it was expensive. That and the vitamin D seemed to give me more energy, maybe, but I couldn’t say for sure.
It took us longer to get pregnant the 3rd time. The miscarriage was the same.
Our OB explained again why she didn't recommend IVF for women with DOR, and told us about a patient of hers who’d had 9 miscarriages before having a successful pregnancy. We were lucky we were able to get pregnant so easily, she said. We were lucky that we didn’t have any other issues compounding the DOR.
If we wanted to explore other options, she told us, our best chance was to use an egg donor. Other than that, all we could do was keep trying. During my fertile window, and given our age, she recommended intercourse every 48 hours.
I doubled down on my research. I read everything I could find online, and read a lot of posts on message boards like the one I’m writing now. Here’s what I decided to do:
  1. Lots of exercise, or at least “lots” by my desk-worker standards (brisk walks every day, gentle training with 10-to-20-pound weights a few times a week, and frequent bike rides)
  2. Lots of time being happy and relaxed and out in the sun
  3. Supplements:
    1. DHEA, 75 mg/day divided in 3 doses
    2. CoQ10, 800 mg/day (ubiquinone, the cheaper kind)
    3. Vitamin D3, 2,000 IU/day
    4. Acetyl L-carnitine, or Alcar, 250 mg/day (the typical dose is 500 mg, but I found this amount gave me nightmares; at 250 mg I felt more energetic, like I could do twice as much exercising as I normally did)
    5. Alpha lipoic acid, 300 mg/day (this makes your urine stink, but it’s inexpensive and safe, and in addition to helping with fertility, I also found studies about its benefit to diabetics and its effect on the pancreas)
    6. Black cohosh on cycle days 1 through 12 (it’s an herb, so I have no idea how much I was actually getting)
    7. Vitex (ditto)
    8. Prenatal vitamins
    9. Fish oil (why not)
    10. More soy foods and freshly ground flax seeds in my diet, for extra estrogen
A note about CoQ10: There are two kinds on the market, a cheaper one (ubiquinone) and an expensive one (ubiquinol), which is supposed to be better absorbed. Both are similar in structure to vitamin E, but are not classified as vitamins because your body can make them on its own. I went with a low-ish dosage of the expensive one the first time around, but after the third miscarriage, I switched to a higher dose of the cheaper one, 800 mg. I definitely noticed an increase in energy while I was taking it.

From what I learned while researching this stuff, both CoQ10 and acetyl l-carnitine are antioxidants that are thought to be active in the mitochondria. The mitochondria is sometimes called the “battery” of the cell, supplying its energy as it does its job. After an egg leaves the nourishing environment of the ovary for its journey down the fallopian tube, its only source of energy is its own mitochondria. That’s what keeps it fresh and alive. So an antioxidant that might help the mitochondria have more energy might be crucial for keeping egg cells, and the DNA inside them, better organized for longer -- long enough to conceive. This theory would apply to sperm cells as well, and is thought to be why taking these supplements gives people more energy. Young people have a lot of CoQ10 in their bodies, but after age 25 or so, our natural production goes down.

As for alpha lipoic acid (ALA), my understanding is that this is thought to be beneficial for diabetics because of its effects on the pancreas. The pancreas and the ovaries are similar in the way they age (again, according to things I read while I was researching like crazy). While I’m not overweight, I’ve always had high blood sugar, and have type 2 diabetes on both sides of my family. So I added this to my regimen too.

Anyway, if you're still reading, pregnancy number 4 was a success. I quit every supplement except for prenatal vitamins. My doctor at the IVF clinic put me on progesterone until I got through week 10, in case a progesterone deficiency was the cause of my previous miscarriages. She’d never tested for this, so the progesterone was just a precaution. I’d always been plenty nauseated with each of my pregnancies, and the supplemental progesterone only made it worse. All I could eat were dry crackers. After reading a few things about the potential effects of progesterone on an embryo, I don’t think I’d do it again, not unless my doctor had a test result suggesting that it was what I really needed.
My doctor also recommended I start taking baby aspirin, 81 mgs/day, to be continued throughout the pregnancy, in case I had an issue with blood clotting that was causing the miscarriages. She’d never tested me for it, and given my AFC and AMH and FSH levels, it seemed like we already knew what my problem was, but she said it couldn’t hurt, so I went on it and stayed on it until 36 weeks.
Two years later, while I was supplementing with just prenatal vitamins and CoQ10, and without really trying, we got pregnant again. Baby #1 is now five years old, and #2 is three.

What you’ll need: -Freestyle Libre 3 (FL 2 would probably work too) -Freestyle Libre 3 app -Librelink app -iPhone with somewhat recent iOS -Apple Health app -Apple Shortcuts app -Glucose Direct app (and TestFlight app) -beetus
PLEASE NOTE, ONE OF THESE SHORTCUTS PULLS DATA FROM THE HEALTH APP SO YOU MUST HAVE CURRENT DATA IMPORTED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. I USE GLUCOSE DIRECT TO PULL MY LIBRE DATA.
After downloading the Shortcuts, you can create the three automations pictured by clicking on the Automations tab in the Apple Shortcuts app. Automations are not shareable, so you’ll have to do a tiny bit of clicking around in there to set them up but those are VERY easy to make :)
The automations do three things every day:
  1. At sunrise, a dawn phenomenon shortcut runs. I’ll explain that below, but for this to work you must have your bg connected to the Health app already (Glucose Direct).
  2. Thirty minutes later, my phone’s ringer volume sets to 100% so I know I won’t miss my alarm.
  3. At 9AM, my 60u basal injection gets recorded into the Health app.
The shortcuts: 1. Basal 60 - logs 60u basal in Health app. You can click on this and it will log automatically. But I never click it, it just sits in my shortcuts library at the bottom of my list. I am much more likely to forget to log the injection than take it, so the automation runs it at 9am every day.
  1. Bolus 30 - logs 30u bolus in Health app. Every time I plan to take 30u, I click the Shortcuts complication on my Apple Watch and click this once.
  2. Bolus 20 - logs 20u bolus in Health app. I actually have several more of these—amounts that I often bolus before meals and snacks. You can duplicate either of these Shortcuts and change the units to whatever you often use. Over time, the Health app will begin to give you a nice bar chart of your insulin usage, and will later provide trend information.
  3. Log Insulin - I select this from my Shortcuts complication on my Apple Watch when I am taking a different amount of insulin, or a small correction dosage I don’t often take. This Shortcut asks you how much insulin you’re taking then whether it’s basal or bolus. Then it logs it in the Health app.
  4. Dawn Phenomenon - the Dawn Phenomenon Shortcut only works because I use Glucose Direct with the Freestyle Libre 3. Glucose Direct is set up to log my bg into the Health app already. For information on Glucose Direct, see this post.
Anyway, every morning at sunrise (while I’m asleep), this Shortcut queries the Health app for my most recent bg reading. If it’s below 150, the Shortcut ends. If my bg is at or above 150, it sets my phone’s ringer volume to 0, then creates a timer for 5 seconds which barely makes a noise on my phone, but vibrates my Apple Watch on my wrist. I take a little correction bolus, log it with one of the other Shortcuts here, and go back to sleep.
This Shortcut also sits at the bottom of my Shortcuts list because I never click it—the automation runs every day when the sun rises. You can set it to run at a specific time (in the Automations tab) if you prefer that, but I tend to wake up with the sun.
  1. Set Volume - 30 mins after the Dawn Phenomenon Shortcut runs every morning, the automation runs this Shortcut, which makes sure my ringer volume is set to 100%. If I had high bg this morning, my timer was silent and vibrated my wrist. I like my morning alarm to vibrate my wrist AND beep, to make sure I get out of bed. So this is sort of an administrative task that makes sure I still have an annoying alarm to wake up to no matter what my bg was.

Started on Test cyp 160mg/week (.20 4 times a week) plus HCg 200mg/week (.20 4 times a week) back in January.
Was feeling great the first few weeks but it slowly tapered off going into week 8. My last bloods were done at the 8 week mark and showed overall test 1100, free test 28 and e2 68. I know the ratio doesn’t seem too off but I was experiencing a lower libido/drive to workout.
I figured the HCg was causing the higher e2 levels so I came off and almost instantly started feeling much better. I’m now at week 4 of no HCg just test and am experiencing some left testicle pain that’s getting pretty debilitating. I’ve read some aches and pain due to atrophy/system turning off is normal so hoping that’s all it is. I eventually caved and started the HCg again with hopes it takes away the pain after reading other testimony’s (gotta love Reddit).
To prevent high E2, should I lower my test dosage? If not, how often should I pin the HCg?
I’d like to see if the HCg provides some relief to the testicular pain over the next week or two before getting worked up for additional causes.
Last time I spoke with my provider it seemed like they were pushing me towards an AI but I really don’t want to get on anymore things if I don’t have to.
Any help/recommendations is appreciated. I will ultimately consult with my provider but wanted to hear some alternative opinions as I am pretty prone to falling for the sales tactics.

For context i’m 16 Female and i was diagnosed with ADHD in May 2023 and prescribed Dexamfetamine (5mg) two tablets a day. in August that year i was prescribed 40mg of Vyvanse (one capsule a day). The first time i took the Vyvanse my mind was clear and i didn’t have any racing thoughts i felt like a ‘normal’ person….But the crash i experienced was terrible, i felt depressed and overall a in such a horrible mood and would cry over something so small. This happened for the first 3-4 days of taking it and then i just felt like my usual self.
How often i take it definitely fluctuates, i took it roughly everyday for 1-2 months and then i started to take it only a few days a week or a few times a month,sometime a whole week or more and then miss taking it forra bit. ( i forget to take it unless Im going to school, even though if i’m running late in the morning or stressed out, i will forget to take it which happened more in the past 5 months)
As of currently the last time i took it would be 2 months ago or more i’m not sure. I haven’t been able to specifically pin point if it has been working for me, I do think i’m more productive and focused when i take it; but it also suppresses my appetite so much to the point where i will only eat small nibbles of food on the days i take Vyvanse. This appetite issue started around a few months into being prescribed and went from rarely happening to very often. it fluctuates from making me STARVING hungry to the thought of food will make me vomit even tho i’m hungry and want to eat.
Yes. i am aware that seeking medical advice is the first approach! I got diagnosed and prescribed by a Paediatrician, he was an old man and actually retired near the end of last year. I voiced my concerns to him about the appetite loss and explained how some days i would either feel like a zombie, i would feel exactly the same as normal, or i would feel a slight “buzz” and an increase in my attention span although not super significantly for me to be like yep!! i definitely feel it’s working!!. He literally brushed all that off and would kinda ramble on in appointments about random shit (usually the appointments were like 20 mins max) He also gave me my dosage based on my weight,( i am 5’6 and 70kg)
Since he’s retired my GP has control of my prescription and in a year or so i have to get “re-evaluated for my need of the medication.” My prescription refill amount is 5 bottles of both Vyvanse and D-amph. Once my prescription runs out i can meet with my GP,, i have a few repeats of Vyvanse left and am on last bottle of Dex but it is full.
Today i accidentally double dosed on Vyvanse so 40mg+ 40mg as well as two Dexies 5mg + 5mg ,which i’m prescribed to take in the morning along w the Vyvanse (it’s currently 2 am i cannot sleep) and i have experienced EXTREME suppression of my appetite, headaches, excessive sweat, my brain is acting faster than my body and my vision has gone weird,, i feel like im looking through Iphone Portrait mode, my eyes are drowsy and the only sensation i can focus on is my eyes. i do not feel like myself,,looking at my reflection is uncomfortable because i feel like im not me in my body but the only thing that is me are my eyes.,, its hard to explain hopefully someone understands what i am trying to say.
ANYWAYS sorry i rambled a bit... Apart from all that i was very productive on TWO assignments in school today, normally i cant even focus on one 😖 but i completed both these in one sitting.(i did use chat GPT for one but i rewrote it)
Im really satisfied with how productive this dose has made me but not with the side effects as i think i may have OD!,, correct me if i am wrong!! I have some questions if anyone’s willing to help a girl out x
Does anyone have any similar experiences with their ADHD meds?
Have you found increasing your dose more effective or was lowering it better?
What are some tips i could start doing to improve the appetite issue and feelings of dissociation. Maybe my dose it not high enough or too low??
How can you tell or track if your medication is working?
(P.S i do have a history of using 🍃 for about a year,,most recent time was in January and March of this year. Aswell as a nicotine addiction from october 2022 untill around New years 2024. Since he’s retired my GP has control of my prescription and in a year or so i have to get “re-evaluated for my need of the medication.” My prescription refill amount is 5 bottles of both Vyvanse and D-amph. Once my prescription runs out i can meet with my GP,, i have a few repeats of Vyvanse left and am on last bottle of Dex but it is full.
Today i accidentally double dosed on Vyvanse so 40mg+ 40mg as well as two Dexies 5mg + 5mg ,which i’m prescribed to take in the morning along w the Vyvanse (it’s currently 2 am i cannot sleep) and i have experienced EXTREME suppression of my appetite, headaches, excessive sweat, my brain is acting faster than my body and my vision has gone weird,, i feel like im looking through Iphone Portrait mode, my eyes are drowsy and the only sensation i can focus on is my eyes. i do not feel like myself,,looking at my reflection is uncomfortable because i feel like im not me in my body but the only thing that is me are my eyes.,, its hard to explain hopefully someone understands what i am trying to say.
ANYWAYS sorry i rambled a bit... Apart from all that i was very productive on TWO assignments in school today, normally i cant even focus on one 😖 but i completed both these in one sitting.(i did use chat GPT for one but i rewrote it)

So I was positive for H pylori after dealing with stomach issues for 3 months. At first I was positive for SIBO and I was looking for the root cause which for me I suspect it was short-term high dosage of PPI and H pylori.
I was given 3 types of antibiotics and PPI. The PPI is making me feel worse, I believe I may have low acid which is a root cause to all the problems I have.
I have constant pain under my ribs. CT clear. Ultrasound clear.
Pain is only upper stomach.
Is it a must to use PPI considering I don’t have gastritis or ulcer according to the gastroscopy I’ve done?
And can I take betaine HCL?
I’m on the 5th day of antibiotics without improvement.

Started at a .5 dose and increased over the course of 5 years. Made it to about 40mg with no issue, the only side effect was weight loss and I had no complaints there. At about the four year mark I noticed some thinning at the temples but thought it was just from over processing my hair. Same thought when I started losing chunks from 2020-2021. Hair loss got very bad in 2022 and I threw everything I could at it- diet change, biotin everything, Nutrafol. The last one helped but I was still losing hair.
I didn’t want to think it was the Adderall, but after being off it for about two weeks now, the only change in my daily routine, I really believe it was the culprit, and it should have hit me when I could finally access it after the shortage. I was off for about a year. Started back up at 40 and :poof: chunks falling out again.
I noticed my hair is getting denser. When I run my fingers over my scalp I feel fewer of those short, spiky hairs. Less hair comes out during the shower and throughout the day. Temples are filling back in.
I think the snail’s pace in dosage increase kept my hair from falling out right away. Having a high undershave on and off kept me from noticing, as well as the years I spent murdering my hair with bleach and dye.
I’m going to try again slowly and see how I feel. If I see significant loss, I’m off for good. My whole life, I was someone who thought hair loss was nbd, and I didn’t realize the emotional toll it took on me. The only part of me I like is my hair and seeing it fall away made me feel less like myself.
tl;dr F (39) started Adderall at 31. Started slow, starting noticing hair loss at 38. Off for two weeks, suddenly less shed, hair is denser. I think it’s the Adderall. May or may not go back.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which isn’t a big surprise for me. I dealt with thyroid issues when I was a teenager, had to get the eyelid surgery as my eye was bulging — but I wasn’t ever put on meds because my levels weren’t bad enough to constitute it I guess? I was 16 and am now 36 (this year).
I started having really bad symptoms that started about 2-3 months ago, I knew it had to be my thyroid, I went to the NHS to have it checked, they did blood tests, but didn’t test my thyroid even though I asked and therefore said I was “all clear and healthy”—so I went thorugh BUPA and managed to get my blood tests done again, and low-and-behold my thyroid antibodies were off the fucking charts. Like norm level is 0-34 and mine was 373. My TSH and other levels weren’t out of the norm range, but I was suffering so severely from the symptoms.
I told my endo all of this, he said because of the severeity of my symptoms he was going to start me on the levothyroxine immediately; of course at 25mcg then told me I would need to have my bloods done again in 8 weeks. Fine. However they only gave me 28 pills and expected me to pay for another prescription in order to get the next month’s. Ridiculous.
I managed to get the letter sent to my regular GP office and they have prescribed the meds for me so they are now free with my NHS card.
After a month being on 25mcg, my symptoms have gotten SO MUCH worse. I have noticed absolutely no change by taking the meds, I’m just getting worse.
This weekend was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me because I have dealt with the exhaustion and the brain fog, but I was so stressed out this weekend because I hadn’t had a BM in days and although I wasn’t hungry, I knew I had to eat something, anything that would help so just small fibrous bits to try and shit rolling — nothing was helping. The laxatives I took weren’t even doing anything, and typically if I resort to laxatives I just get really bad diarrhea so them to have no effect was really startling. I was in so much pain and I was concerned I may be impacted which increased my anxiety level.
I said fuck it and I upped the dosage of the levothyroxine myself because I know that there is no coming off of it at this point, and I was losing my mind. I know it’s not going to fix my symptoms immediately, but I still have to work full time, I cannot be ill, I cannot be off, and I cannot afford sick leave at the minute. Plus my job is…they aren’t great with people having health issues and instead of trying to help they will immediately try to find a loophole to fire you which I’ve seen happen to two other members of staff.
When I told a coworker—who also has hypothyroidism—that I had gone up on the medication myself, she basically chewed me out saying how dangerous it is and how I could die, etc, etc. She also doesn’t help in terms of me dealing with this diagnosis as all she says is “it never gets better, it just gets worse, and ten years down the line I struggle each and every day.” Although I know many people, especially in my family, who have hypothyroidism and with the meds it doesn’t effect their day-to-day the way it did before the medicine.
I’ve managed to get a face-to-face appt with my regular GP on Friday, and I’ll tell them what I did. If they tell me off, so be it, but at least they are a doctor.
I just cannot deal with this and work at the same time and while what I did may seem extreme or stupid or whatever, I am so tired of being treated like this is either life or death or something I can get over if I just work harder.
Has anyone else done this?
I don’t feel like I’ve taken some drastic step as most people start off on 50mcg. I haven’t had any bad side effects, but I’ve only taken this dosage for two days now.

I started on 2.5mg for the first 4 weeks but didn’t really see much loss, I lost 8lbs in 4 weeks(now I know this is still a good loss!) but found taking the extra dose along with 2.5 helped this, so I moved up as expected to 5mg and have been on 5mg for 1 month now. I lost a further 12lbs this month on 5mg! However the side effects on 5mg have been killing me! The day after shot day is the worst, I’ve found I really can’t eat ANYTHING with gluten in it or I am in horrific pain and vomiting, milk of magnesia is my best friend. I also find the day of shot day I get extreme food noise again and starving!! I think I’m going to stick another month on 5mg as my body is still quite sensitive to this dosage but I’m quite in shock with the loss so far, I’m going travelling in September for 3 months to Asia so I don’t want to continue the injections / would be difficult. Aiming to lose another 15lbs before!
(Also should state I go lift heavy, focus on core & run 3-4 days a week and I lost 25lbs before starting mj!)

i had mild symptoms at first, starting metrogel i got a burning feeling and frequent need to pee, as well as a lot of the chunkier bv discharge. i’ve not had this experience before with metrogel, and today i had so much discharge and felt irritated still but im supposed to be finished with antibiotics. will the discharge and irritation still subside if im done with the metrogel?? do i need to go back for more testing?
