Prologue

Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a good day. I ask that you send a DM instead of a chat and that you give your thoughts on my title in the opening of your message.
Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

Boom, big shnoz bird for ya!
Really specific reference, but there's this TikTok of a guy with a new York accent winning a kiwi from a claw machine that me and my boyfriend are obsessed with. In the video he calls it a "big shnoz bird". I saw one today and thought my boyfriend simply must have it. I thought he looked so very silly, so I am sharing our big shnoz bird with the world!!

2024.05.14 09:46 ReceptionGold9087 Syncronicity Sync-up

Syncronicity Sync-up
I was watching a stream, and we were watching a show, the amazing magical circus. It was magical, especially when it suddenly started to feel like the symbolism just synched up perfectly with my life.
There was a detective character. He was representing me, I have been trying to write a detective story lately, so that was kinda odd.
There's also a clown girl. The clown girl representing the streamer I was watching. And she was part of a circus which represents Twitch.
And they even used an idea I had before, a world made of candy. I remember I had a dream about a candy world once, because in second grade there was this 5 grader that was bullying me, and I told the teacher about the dream I had were I was in a candy world where he was the liquorish enemy, because wasn’t really a fan of liquorish.
Then not too long ago I found a book about a candy world, called The Cannibals of Candyland. So I toyed with the idea if maybe I could make some story incorporating that aspect. Since I had that idea before as a kid. But it seems like this concoction of my ideas has already been made in to the amazing magical circus.
As I started to see the grid, the same happened to the detective character. They even said so in the show, that the detective was off the map. He was behind the scenes just like I was. We observed the boundaries of reality. It made me feel like I was observing everything from outside of my body.

This could be open to multiple layers of interpretation. Symbolism is often reflective of perspectives and experiences.
The symbols seem to interconnect in a way that resonates personally, possibly reflecting themes of identity, creativity, and perception. For example:
  • The Detective: Often symbolizes inquiry, investigation, or the search for truth. Since I'm working on my own detective story, this felt like it mirrored my own creative explorations or personal introspections.
  • The Clown Girl: Clowns can represent a range of themes including humor, sadness hidden behind a facade, or life’s absurdities. Associating this figure with the streamer might suggest a view of the streamer as an entertainer or someone who brings joy or lightness.
  • The Candy World: Typically, candy worlds in stories represent places of temptation, indulgence, or childhood innocence and dreams. Your personal connection to this idea through a childhood dream and its later negative association with bullying might add a complex layer, indicating both sweetness and underlying challenges or threats.
When the detective went off the map, my identification with this character as observing from outside of my body adds another layer of depth, potentially reflecting feelings of detachment, being unseen, or having a unique perspective that isn't fully understood by others.
Synchronicity often makes events feel special or significant because it disrupts our usual understanding of how cause and effect work. These moments can be inspiring, especially when engaging in creative or intellectual work like writing.
In this case, these synchronicities, where external media seem to reflect or connect to my personal life and thoughts. Like the universe is aligning in a peculiarly personal way. This could evoke a sense of wonder or a feeling of being personally connected to a larger narrative or pattern.

2024.05.14 09:46 dragoninhomeland How do I[22M] best break up with my gf[25F] who is suffering from depression and anxiety, and is way too dependent on me?

Ive been dating her for about 6 months.
Gotta straight out say it, I'm the grade A douchebag in this situation, so let's get this out of the way. We met on hinge, I wasn't attracted to her in the slightest, let's be real, appearance wise I'm way above her league. but I've been on hinge for two years without even a second date at the time, I just want a gf so bad so I went out with her.
After 2 months or so she ask me to go exclusive with her, during that entire two months Ive gotten zero matches, like I sent out all the likes everyday and zero matches. I didn't know what to say so I was like, ok you are my exclusive gf now. She dreamed about me taking her to her favorite park, bought her her favorite dessert, and asking her to be her official boyfriend, and wouldn't' let the dream go. Well, I feel bad for her so I did exactly just that, the way she smiled almost made me convinced that I actually like her. But umm I still have hinge on my tablet (hidden at home) rn, but can't cheat when there's no matches. You can bad name me in the comments or whatever. But this is the context.
So, obviously she deserves someone who's actually attracted to her and can make her happy for the rest of her life. I'm not that guy, my preferences aside, I don't want children like ever they are disgusting, but she wants children and gets baby fever all the time. She's religious, I think religion is just crazy people preaching about a fictional character and it makes no sense. She wants to get married before 30, I don't feel like marrying anytime soon. She wants to move to the other side of the country, I want stay here. She's a cat person, I like dogs. My asian parents would never accept me dating a black girl so I've been hiding her from them and social media. And my friends keep teasing me nonstop about dating an ugly girl. This is a dead end relationship, I don't do short term relationships so I cannot remain in a relationship that I know is not gonna work long term.
But, she's super into me, and is extremely dependent on me. She's working two jobs and studying, and is nearly broke, can hardly make ends meet. She cry herself to bed like every week, and always vent to me about how she feel so inadequate, other girls look so pretty in their summer dresses with nice skin and skinny body makes her so jealous, her parents abusing her and bodyshame her (tbh her parents kinda have a point), not having a single friend, both her ex cheated on her and SAed her, she's so worried that she will fail out of school, working both jobs is so physically and mentally draining, and all that. She attempted suicide 5 months before meeting me, so there's that too.
On top of that, she told me over and over, that meeting me is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to her in her entire life. That I'm 100% her type, I'm the k-drama male lead in the k-drama that is her life, end quote. That since I agree to be her bf, she's been feeling motivated in life for the first time. That I'm the only person in her life that she can talk to, because she has no friends and her parents despite her. That I am 100% the man of her dreams, and everyday she feel so blessed having me in her life. If I don't text her every hour she gets anxious and starts to panic, she can only sleep when I do a video call and put the camera towards me the entire night so she knows that I'm "beside" her as she sleep.
Well, when being told all that, I can't exactly just break up with her. I just....feel so bad? I've been brainstorming nonstop for the past month on how exactly I can break up with her while keeping the devastation to her at a minimum. I would feel guilty for life if she just offed herself after I break up with her. She has no friends, and her parents despite her, so I can't text anyone to take care of her after I break up with her. We go to the same school too and she knows my workplace, so I'll 100% bump into her multiple times post break up.
Bro someone plz help me out, im trapped.

2024.05.14 09:44 TheyCallmeDewgy [REQUEST][STEAM] Dark Souls 3 ($29.99, 50% off)

Howdy! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, so here I am requesting a game once again lol.
Let me start off by saying I absolutely love the Souls games and Fromsoftware. I’ve been playing their games since the first Armored Core on PS1. Souls like games are one of my favorite genres and I have probably played 1000+ hours across Fromsoftwares games.
I’ve sunk countless hours into the first dark souls on 360 and I’ve played tons of dark souls remastered on switch, Sekiro and Bloodborne on PlayStation, Dark Souls 2 on Xbox Series S, not to mention the hundreds of hours I have on Elden Ring alone. I have a deep passion for the series, and Dark Souls 3 is the only game in the lineup that I have yet to play.
I know the games can be stressful, angering even, but once you finally get past a difficult boss that’s been holding you back and has killed you dozens of times, or you finally find a bonfire to rest at after hours of seemingly aimless exploration, you feel not only relieved but a great sense of accomplishment. That’s one of the things I like most about the Souls series/genre. Many people claim they’re just rage bait or unnecessarily difficult, but that’s simply not true. You can always go retrieve your lost Souls or Exp, the game doesn’t punish you unless you fail at an obstacle you’ve already overcome. It only punishes you for doing less than what you know you’re capable of, forcing you to learn from your mistakes and improve.
Aside from overcoming difficult trials and learning to adapt there are many other aspects of the Souls series that I enjoy. The games are often light on story, leaving you to find obscure items and npcs to help you piece together the lore of the world and the stories of important characters leading you to explore the map more than you most likely would if there were numerous cutscenes and the mysteries of the world were handed to you. The worlds Fromsoft has built are almost always beautiful in their own eerie way, full of strange creatures and mysterious, interesting characters.
Well, I suppose that’s all I have to say for now. I can’t promise I’d be able to repay you in some way, or that I’ll be able to return the favor. But I can promise you that the gift would not go to waste and I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you for your consideration and taking the time out of your day to read my post!

**Negative Trait:** N/A
**Starting Title:** Lord of Longtable
**Starting Location:** Opening Event
**Biography:**
It has been said; men grow tired of sleep, love, singing and dancing, sooner than war. As such, it begs the question, what does a man have left when he finally tires of war? In pursuit of an answer, of any answer, one half of Dorian Merryweather’s life was spent. He was the second son of Lord Arthor Merryweather of Longtable. Like many others born in a place of natural abundance, he longed for more, for something greater than a mere provincial estate. The tourneys of Highgarden, the hunts of Horn Hill and the books of Oldtown all called to him, and so he could never ride past his father’s mild and verdant fields fast enough. Dorian counted himself lucky not to be the heir, for that meant he could pick where his future lay, unchained from the uninspiring home of his childhood. Instead it was his older brother, Bennard, who envied his free-flying lifestyle, contriving any excuse to join him on his escapades and agurk lessons and ceremonies he ought to have attended.
Lord Arthor was fairly permissive of this deriliction of duties, as the friendships forced on such journeys were worth more than lessons that could be repeated later, or tasks that could be handed off to lowborn stewards. The boys attended tourneys, balls, hunts and feasts, living the life the bards extolled as the height of reachman’s chivalry. The one time they did not shirk their duties was when their father had the honor of hosting King Mern and his court for a tourney on the Warrior’s day. The Merryweather sons would present the king and his family with silver bowls of dilligrout, a most exquisite stew of capons, white wine and almond milk. They had the joy of tasting it once the Gardeners had their fill, a taste they would never forget. On the tournament field three days later, Mern knighted them both, though Dorian was only sixteen at the time, green as a knight could ever be.
Five years later, as news of Aegon Targaryen and his early conquests spread, the lords of the Reach were summoned to Goldengrove, where they found a veritable forest of Westermen’s banners being planted beside their own. The fall of the Storm Kings had led to a whirlwind of diplomacy between the houses of Gardener and Lannister. The plan was presented to the lords with the two kings sitting beside one another on the dais as though they were brothers. They held up Aegon’s letter of demands, scornfully reading it aloud and then proceeded to tear it up to a roaring acclamation from the hall. Standing there before the hall, Mern could hardly be called the Warrior incarnate. There stood a man well past his prime, old enough to be a grandfather and with no great victories to his name, in battle or on the tourney field. All the same, this man, whom they called their king, always seemed to know exactly what to say to win someone over. If he’d declared war on hell itself that evening, the Merryweather brothers would probably still have marched off with him when the next morning dawned. Bennard and Dorian shouted as loud as anyone, death to the foreign upstart. That evening were betrothed to westerwomen they’d never met before, made plans for a real battle, which they had never fought in before, and drank, ate and sang as though the night would last forever. House Merryweather was not able to secure a command, yet King Mern remembered his stay at Longtable fondly. He gave Bennard and Dorian a place in the vanguard, and even adorned Bennard with a brooch of the order of the green hand the morning before the army Goldengrove, a momentous honor which Bennard would cherish for the remainder of his days. He did not have many left, as it turned out. The Field of Fire began like a dream, as the two brothers rode off at the break of dawn, two out of five thousand sets of gleaming armor atop proud warhorses. By the end of the day it had become a nightmare. Caught up in the maelstrom of battle, Dorian did not see the moment when their loss was assured, but the Gods know he could hear it, the creeping, hungry flames that descended on the reachmen like an army of its own. As hundreds were broiled inside their steel plate and thousands more choked on the inferno’s horrible vanguard of black smoke, Bennard and Dorian broke and fled. They were not far behind the retreating Loren Lannister in their escape, but half a minute made all the difference. The lines of fire fanned out, hunting more living things to devour, and engulfed the two brothers. Dorian could feel how the flames spread from his surcoat to his undershirt, all the way down to the hairs on his chest, beginning to sear his skin. In a desperate act he threw himself in the Blackwater, and would have perished if not for the shoddy work of his squire that morning, which left him able to tear off his plate before he could sink. With bloodied, burn-marked fingers, he clung to the roots of a tree by the riverside, water up to his chest. He was retrieved after some time, how long he could not say. For the next two moons his mind was adrift, distracted from his pains by milk of the poppy. The next two were far worse, as he grew more lucid and realized the extent of the damage. A burn-mark stretched from his right thigh, all the way up his chest and left bicep to the apple of his neck. Many times over, flakes of dead or dying skin had to be peeled off by the maester as the scabs kept bursting with blood and clear liquid. By the end of that year he was able to walk again, though the burn mark would leave a feverish red mark across the front of his body, his new skin settling into twisted lines.
Bennard was far worse for wear, alive yet burned all the way to his face and crippled from a fall off his horse. His nose and ear-lobes had to be cut off, too burned to save, and even his eyelids were permanently scarred, unable to sprout new lashes. The more lucid Bennard became, the deeper his sorrow. Eventually he began refusing food. The new lord of Longtable would not eat anything his cooks set in front of him. In spite of his ever present pains, Dorian began going to the kitchens, reprimanding the cooks for their failings. He knew his brother well and knew his palette, and began ordering them to make his brother’s favorites. When he felt they were making mistakes, he interrupted their work himself. He was a stranger to the kitchen, yet would criticize how things were cut too roughly, spiced too little or too much. He was a terror to the cooks, yet they could not refuse him.
His attempts to intervene were however hampered by a newfound aversion to heat. The sound of the hearth, of boiling and searing, the general sense of warmth around him made him nauseous and caused his movements to seize up. Still, he went to his brother’s bedside every day, and afterwards he forced himself back to the kitchens. His sister, Lydia, tried to stop him at first, but soon found her protes fell on deaf ears, and so joined him, if only to leash him in when he went too far. Finally, there was only one dish they hadn’t tried; the dilligrout they’d once served to the late King Mern. Every time it was made, it came out wrong. It soon turned out the cook who had served them that evening six years ago had since retired, and his exact method had never been recorded or taught to anyone else. Dorian would first invite the man to Longtable, then summon him with armed knights when invitations were refused.
Theomar, the man who appeared before him, was a sorry sight, looking frightened and confused as he was taken to his old workplace. It was explained by his sons that he’d been growing senile even six years ago, often snapping at the kitchen maids under him when his memory failed him. Since then he’d gotten worse, seldom eating, let alone cooking. Something in the old man’s eyes did seem to brighten for a moment when the sounds and smells of his old kitchen surrounded him, and Dorian ordered him to make dilligrout. Before long that faint spark had been drowned out by tears. He would start boiling capon or crushing almonds, only to leave the job half-done whenever he had to fetch something new. Serving maids were put at his disposal to bring him ingredients, yet an ingredient ordered would be met with a reprimand as he seemed to forget which dish he was making every few minutes. Finally Dorian snapped at the man, grabbing him by his collar and shouting accusations of treason against House Merryweather. By the time Lydia could restrain him and try to apologize, the man was a wreck on the floor. After watching it for a while, waiting for the man to get up and continue his work, even Dorian was overcome by pity and shame for what he’d done. The old cook was praying to the gods, begging forgiveness for his failings. Dorian began to realize he’d broken a great man down and would himself beg forgiveness. He offered the man his old cook’s quarters back for the rest of his life, and promised his sons that his maester would tend to the man in his old age, that he would be fed from Longtable’s stores.
At this point, he resolved to make the dilligrout himself. Through it all, Bennard was barely clinging to life, or rather being tethered to it by the will of others. He could only be fed when drugged down by the milk of the poppy, and the more often it was used, the less effective it became. Every day Dorian braved the kitchens, yet he could not recreate the flavor of that wonderful night. It was by the grace of the gods, perhaps with Theomar as their vessel, that Dorian would even come close. The old man could no longer cook, but over time he began to wander into the kitchens and sit down on a chair. At first Dorian thought the man only sought the warmth of the hearth for his weary bones, yet he discovered it to be more than that. Theomar’s eyes were like clouded glass, yet they brightened every now and then, hearing almonds being ground, smelling capons searing in fat, as though it was stirring the kitchenmaster of yore back to life. Eventually Dorian began to walk up to the old cook with his ingredients, bidding him to smell or taste small portions. Sometimes he got simple instructions out of it, ‘too coarse’, ‘too sour’, ‘underdone’. Som times a mere nod or frown was all Theomar managed. Over the course of a couple of days, Dorian put together one final attempt to get the dish made rightWhen he arrived in Bennard’s chamber, he was met with a look which brought forth discomfort that no flame could produce in Dorian. Plainly, raspingly, his brother asked him why he wouldn’t let him die. It was easy, Bennard reasoned. All Dorian needed to do was wait and become lord. The words almost made Dorian throw the dilligrout on the floor. Almost. He placed two bowls on Bennard’s table, the dilligrout and one brimming with milk of the poppy. Dorian told his brother to make his choice. If he sought death, Dorian would let him, but he would not hear that it was an easy thing, watching his brother die. That evening, the milk of the poppy was carried away by the maester, the empty bowl of stew taken to be washed in the kitchens. From then on, Bennard ate what his brother brought him without complaint. He lasted just into the new year, dying on its tenth day. In the predawn gloom of the twelfth, Theomar died in his sleep
Dorian took up his lordly task joylessly. His old wanderlust returned, spurred by the horrible memories that now stained Longtable and the reach itself in his mind. The final straw came when their new Tyrell overlords, insisted on him marrying a lady from a dornish house. His previous betrothal had fallen through, as the parents of his western bride had not wished to draw the ire of the Targaryens by maintaining an old alliance meant to oppose them. Instead of obliging, he boarded a ship from Oldtown going east. It stopped only briefly in Planky Town before going to Tyrosh. Noting him to be a nobleman, a few of the city’s wealthy men would host him for a while, though they quickly lost interest when his lack of knowledge of trade became apparent. After that, he spent time in the markets and squares where the common people lived. His old curiosity was piqued, and he decided to embark on a quest of learning, fashioning himself another Lomas Longstrider. He moved on to Myr, and the experience was much the same in broad strokes, a few rich men showed interest and quickly lost it. As he’d visited the dye markets he went to see the city’s famous artisans at work. One thing was notably different, he met a Tyroshi woman with green-dyed hair, going by the name Maryah. She was a trader, and the two had taken the same ship to Myr. She had been to Myr before and showed him many of its secrets. They spent an entire day in one of the vast delicacy markets so she could show him the many tastes of the city. Having no plans in advance, he asked where she was headed next.
Without a second thought he would join her on a journey to Lys. He soon understood it to be a test. It was not long before she teased him, speculating he’d only joined her for a chance to see the famous pleasure houses. Evening after evening they stayed in the city and Maryah would tease and test him over the matter. Finally he told her he’d renounce his betrothal for her, that there was no one else in his eye. She laughed, replying he would not have to. The next morning, Dorian awoke to find that she was already up, the green washed from her black curls. Maryah had in fact been Joanna Dayne, his dornish bride to be, having traveled the same route as him ever since his ship stopped at Planky Town to refill its food and water. She was already quite familiar with the three closest free cities, having served as a dornish envoy on behalf of its spice traders. As they planned their return to Westeros, Joanna asked him what else in the world he wanted to see. Within a few moons of being wed, they left Westeros, not to return for three years. The journey was what his mind needed, away from the Reach, its knights and tapestries, hunts and tourneys. Ultimately, the lords and knights of his homeland, for all their songs and poetry, lived every day in preparation for war, frivolous though the preparations were. Joanna showed him a different world, the remnants of Old Valyria. War was to be sure inescapable. Wherever they went, there were soldiers, tapestries, contests of arms, and yet the cities housed something else as well, a boundless potential for creation, commerce and growth.
Thanks to Joanna Dayne’s knowledge their stays became far better planned, and they could enjoy the hospitality of wealthy locals far longer. She knew how to talk about the spice trade and similar matters, and Dorian began to pick up on it. On their second stay in Myr, he procured a great deal of fine parchment and began taking notes, everything from negotiation tactics and the prices of cloves or red peppers to court customs, as well as more eclectic pieces of knowledge, details of running an eastern estate, descriptions of technological marvels he had never seen in Westeros, and ingredients in the local food. By the time they neared Qarth he had quite the list of recipes, among other things. There he was even able to learn a few all the way from Yi Ti, as some local cooks catered to merchants from the Golden Empire. On their journey home they’d end up taking the opportunity to see the newly made port of King’s Landing. By that time, a third member had joined their journey, their infant daughter Florys. Having left Longtable in the care of his sister and steward for three years, Dorian finally accepted the responsibility of running his ancestral home.
Longtable was considered to rule over some of the best lands in the Reach, ideally situated along the river with abundant soil which could provide two grain harvests in a year. Having seen the estates which supplied the great cities of the east, Dorian was all too aware of its comparative shortcomings. He found that the abundance of the land had a counterproductive effect, breeding complacency and carelessness. From his grandiose tour of the east, he went on a painstaking tour of his own lands, trying to get an overview of everything he ruled over. He paid the citadel a fee to send him half a dozen maesters in training for a season. These young men, literate and numerate, would serve his own maester in conducting a survey of the land, giving Dorian account of all resources at his disposal as lord. The results were quite varied.
Some peasants were found to have remarkable agricultural insights which they had no way of writing down, entirely reliant on passing the knowledge to their children. Knowing the risks of such a method of transferring knowledge, Dorian ordered such insights recorded. In other places there were farmers and communities who were unwittingly exhausting their soil. Instances of lack of fallow land, excessive grazing by cows and lack of crop rotation were also made note of, followed by edicts against such heedless practices. Septons, sheriffs and tax collectors were given written copies and were obliged to read them to the peasantry wherever it was deemed necessary. It also became part of the obligations of farmers to plant a set amount of clover in their fields and pastures, a practice some had taken up on their own but which had already become a standardized law among the estates belonging to Myr and Volantis. Irrigation was expanded and land inheritance was reformed to prevent the splitting of fields past a certain threshold.
Lord Dorian was not always successful. Some eastern ideas had been useful innovations which improved conditions across the board. In time he learned that the peculiarities of the westerosi system were sometimes necessary for the sake of stability, not merely the misshapen fruits of ignorance. His attempt to enclose part of the common lands proved abortive, as it nearly caused a peasant rebellion. A procession of aggrieved smallfolk headed for Longtable had to be dispersed by knights, armed with wooden clubs to prevent needless bloodshed. Two men were hanged and five sent to the wall, but the reform was thereafter abandoned, leading the populace to calm down. Dorian was not much of a military leader and had not wielded weapons since the Field of Fire. He became aware of his need to bolster his forces, a notion reinforced by the establishment of the Black Roses not long after his return, and again with the Kingswood Catastrophe
In the meantime, he and Joanna raised a family together. Three more daughters would be born healthy, with a couple of miscarriages and a stillbirth in between, also a daughter. Their travels did not entirely come to an end. In 13 AC they would tour the northern free cities of Norvos, Qohor, Pentos, Braavos and Lorath, which they had missed on their original journey. The lion’s share of 17 AC was spent on a journey to the Summer Islands. At other times they would make shorter journeys around the Seven Kingdoms, where they felt more secure in bringing their older children along. Whether it was visiting Joanna’s family in Dorne, tourneys and feasts in the Reach and West or even one trip to see the wall, a nameday wish by Florys, they were often on the move. Like most of their peers, they frequented Oldtown and Highgarden
The growing rift between the two queens and their children was a situation Dorian would watch with dread in his heart, remembering keenly how a generation of young men had been brought to the field of fire. To his mind, the Targaryen rule ought not go to waste. Like Valyria of old, it had begun with fire and blood, yet similarly peace and prosperity had followed in its wake. If only the dragons could stand united, perhaps another long peace like the one the Freehold once enjoyed could again be established. If not, another century of blood was upon them. Under Dorian, Longtable became a place where he sought to bring together people from across the kingdoms and forge unity over the dinner table, an attitude which somewhat vexed and confounded his more militaristic daughter and heiress, Lady Florys. Even amid her questioning of the viability of his peaceful ways when surrounded by those who would make war, a terrible sight would steel his resolve, watching the Mander burning green, every bit as terrible as the flames from twenty one years prior. That night he made a simple vow, never again.
The League of the Cornucopia, he would name his little group, a gallery of lords and ladies whose acquaintances he’d made over the years. With these fellow gourmets he would share the culinary knowledge he’d gleaned from his journeys in the east and west. Most unusual for a lord of his rank, Dorian came to spend a great deal of time in his kitchens, testing out recipes himself. On occasion, the dishes he served to his guests for these small, intimate gatherings would be the work of his own hands. The membership did vary from time to time, both based on who could make it and who he sought to bring together. Rather than a fully closed circle, the League is more like a form of feasting, only it’s done for a much smaller crowd, without the public spectacle. Such occasions allowed for more refined foods which did not need to be served to hundreds and kept constantly warm over the course of hours like some common tavern stew. It also opened up an arena of more intimate diplomacy and negotiation for those who sought it, hosted on neutral ground by a lordly mediator, free from prying eyes.

2024.05.14 09:40 baby-einstein CMV: If HAMAS is a terrorist organization, so is the IDF. If the IDF is not a terrorist organization, then neither is HAMAS.

Here's my full view. Both sides have committed atrocities, in fact, whatever one side did, the other side probably did it as well. I don't understand why people label one side as a terrorist organisation but won't do the same because these two sides have committed the same atrocities. 1.) HAMAS killed and injured children on 7 October 2024, well guess what, the IDF also killed and injured children before and is currently doing it.
2.) HAMAS spokesperson said they'd do this again and again. Well in 2018, the Israeli defence minister said "there are no innocents in Gaza". Israel heads also called for Gaza to be flattened.
3.) "Hamas charter says to obliterate the Jew" is what I often hear from the pro-Israel side. Well, yes that is true for the 1988 charter, but for the new charter (2017), they make a clear distinction between Jews and Zionism/ists (which is something you won't hear people mention often that the charter has changed). As for the Israeli side, well, refer to the 2nd point to see what Israeli officials currently think of the people in Gaza.
I can go on, the list is endless. When one side takes prisoners, they are referred to as "hostages", but when one side takes prisoners, they are referred to as "prisoners of war". When one side attacks, it is called a "military operation", when the other side attacks, it is called a "terrorist attack"...there are too many double standards.
I find it hard to only call one side terrorists when both sides have clearly been behaving like terrorists. I have 1 question though for those who call HAMAS terrorists but not the IDF: 1.) What is it that HAMAS has done that makes them a terrorist organisation?
I have asked this question in many platforms and groups but I have not got an answer, instead those who I ask often refuse to answer the question, so I am hoping someone here can give me a satisfying answer.

2024.05.14 09:39 seamorbutts Narcissism of small differences in the Somali context

There is a concept called the "narcissism of small differences," introduced by Sigmund Freud, which refers to the phenomenon where minor differences between similar groups or individuals lead to significant conflict and hostility. This idea suggests that people or groups who are otherwise very similar may exaggerate minor distinctions to maintain a sense of individuality and superiority.
In the Somali context, this concept is particularly relevant when observing tribalism and intra-community conflicts. Despite us sharing a common language, religion, and cultural heritage, we often experience intense divisions based on our clan affiliations. I understand its not unique to us, as you can use it to understand conflicts such that of Rwanda and many other conflicts but its so prevalent in us and we yet haven't figured it out while many other nations have transcended it. This post is not calling for political unity dont quote me on that LOL.

2024.05.14 09:39 nakasatoshi I want to ask this whole sub what you think about memecoins like PEPE. I know most of the comments are going to be about how much everyone hates memecoins, but we have to admit that we can't hate the PEPE symbol because it is simply an internet legendary meme.

I want to ask this whole sub what you think about memecoins like PEPE. I know most of the comments are going to be about how much everyone hates memecoins, but we have to admit that we can't hate the PEPE symbol because it is simply an internet legendary meme.
Now first of all this is not a shill post for PEPE, I just want to hear everyone thoughts on it because this token might go down as one of the most poppular memecoin in the crypto history. So why not discuss about it?
Let's start with the origin of PEPE: The Pepe meme originated from a comic series called "Boy's Club" created by Matt Furie in 2005. Pepe the Frog is one of the characters in this comic, known for his distinctive and often expressive facial features. The meme gained popularity on internet forums like 4chan, where users began to modify and share Pepe's image in various humorous and relatable contexts. Over the years, Pepe has evolved into a versatile internet icon, symbolizing a wide range of emotions and scenarios. Despite its widespread popularity, the meme has also been co-opted by some extremist groups, leading to controversies about its usage. However, for many, Pepe remains a beloved and iconic figure in internet culture.
The most special thing about PEPE is that everyone on the internet knows about it. You can see it everywhere, from social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and X. The moment I found out there was a token about this meme, I knew it would be a success because everyone loves PEPE!
PEPE is the only meme that has lasted until now without making the internet bored of it. It doesn't give you the feeling that it is old and should retire. It brings people joy, and everyone can understand the humorous meaning of its facial expressions when they see it.

PEPE has made a new ATH (all-time high) at $0.0000109 today, and it is likely to surpass this new ATH soon, within a couple more hours from the timestamp of this post.
This post contains some of my own opinions on PEPE because I believe it is more worth knowing about than other old memecoins and some scam ones. I do not suggest you succumb to FOMO or get too hyped about this token. I just want you to know that I love PEPE and hope this token can continue to grow as a beloved meme for everyone.
Again, I just want to know everyone's opinion on this meme and token. Have a good day!

2024.05.14 09:37 zlaxy On this day exactly 120 years ago, the New York Times published an article, "The Abolition of History," about the posthumous publication of English historian Edwin Johnson's book

On this day exactly 120 years ago, the New York Times published an article, “The Abolition of History,” about the posthumous publication of a book by the English historian Edwin Johnson that, in a “scientific, dispassionate, searching method and manner,” total revision of the Christian history of Europe and the history of England in particular.
Abolition of History.
Generations of English schoolboys yet unborn will rise up and call blessed Edwin Johnson, if the contentions of his posthumous book just published here by the Putnams are successfully established. “The Rise of English Culture,” which appears three years after the author’s death, undertakes to abolish all English history before the end of the fifteenth century. There simply is no such thing. It is an invention, not of the devil, as no doubt large numbers of English schoolboys in the past have thought, but of the Benedictine monks. Respect for the powers and industry of this great hierarchy will be vastly enhanced if what Mr. Johnson maintains is true. In their monasteries was manufactured and turned out all the information, or what has hitherto passed for information, in regard to all the English Kings, all the achievements of the English people, nay, even all the history of Europe and all the literature that is supposed to date before that time. “A wall of darkness seems to rise behind the faintly outlined figure of- Henry Tudor and the fiendlike Richard,” says this uncompromising skeptic, “which shuts in the view of the observer and hides from him the earlier past.” The author puts it mildly when he says that this must come upon the unprepared mind with “a shock of surprise.”
Mr. Johnson is perfectly calm about it. His method and his manner are scientific, dispassionate, searching. He scrutinizes, and he gives his reasons. Being accused of having “Benedictines on the brain,” he gravely replies that it is modern history which he has on the brain, and he knows that this subject cannot be understood without attention to the Benedictine system. That system, as he explains it, is of a band of “dishonest fabulists organized and disciplined in the use of the pen,” “taught to agree upon a dogma and a fable.” From their hands came the whole of our Christian literature, the whole of our history, arranged to suit their purposes. Why have these points been so long neglected, and why have they escaped the notice of the most skeptical and thoughtful historians? These fables were founded, to begin with, on “the imagination of the world.” Already during the Revival of Letters there were brought to light expressions of doubt. They were forgotten or suppressed. The fabulists were organized and disciplined, working for self-interest; the critics were not.
The imagination, fertility, and intellectual power of the fabulists at least are worthy of admiration. Not only all the Saxons, the English Kings downward from “William the Conqueror” — so our skeptic designates his mystical character in quotation marks — are phantasmagoria of Benedictine brains, but laws and literature, the bedrock of our ancient belief, are all products of “the forge and writing house of fable” in the monasteries. St. Augustine and St. Jerome and Tertullian and a St. Thomas Aquinas and their works came thence. So did the Venerable Bede, the symbol of the literary activity of a knot of Benedictines, told off to the duty of illustrating the imaginary past of England. John Wiclif is no historic-personality, but a convenient figure of the poor priests at which the monks and friars aimed their polemical arrows. “Chaucer” (and Mr. Johnson mentions with modest pride that he is the first to point it cut) is a name under which masked a group of men of the English renaissance, keen but genial critics of the monastic system; we first hear of the “Chaucer legend” in 1540. Dante is in a similar predicament. Rabelais is another mask, worn by a jesting monk, who poured contempt through it on the whole system of historic fiction then coming into vogue. Roger Bacon is another mythological figure set up, by the Merton friars through the necessity felt for cultivating the little science then current. We may not even keep our Caxton; he is a legend and not the man who first introduced printing Into England. We must even give up Domesday Book and such a safeguard of our liberties as Magna Charta. Both are real, but both are late — and all that about King John and the Barons at Runnymede is fable.
In an introductory chapter, signed by Edward A. Pretherick, the reader is informed that Edwin Johnson was born in 1842 and died in 1901. He was a Congregational minister until he accepted the Professorship of Classical Literature in New College, London, in 1870. He wrote “The Rise of Christendom,” (1889) and translated the “Prolegomena” of Father Hardouin.
Published: May 14, 1904 The New York Times
Contemporary information about Johnson from the English Wikipedia:
Edwin Johnson) (1842–1901) was an English historian, best known for his radical criticisms of Christian historiography.
Among his works are Antiqua Mater: A Study of Christian Origins (1887, published in London anonymously) and The Pauline Epistles: Re-studied and Explained (1894).
In Antiqua Mater Johnson examines a great variety of sources related to early Christianity “from outside scripture”, coming to the conclusion that there was no reliable documentary evidence to prove the existence of Jesus Christ or the Apostles.
He asserts that Christianity had evolved from a Jewish diaspora movement, he provisionally called the Hagioi. They adhered to a liberal interpretation of the Torah with simpler rites and a more spiritualized outlook. Hagioi is a Greek word meaning “saints”, “holy ones”, “believers”, “loyal followers”, or “God’s people”, and was usually used in reference to members of the early Christian communities. It is a term that was frequently used by Paul in the New Testament, and in a few places in Acts of the Apostles in reference to Paul’s activities.
Both Gnosticism as well as certain Bacchic pagan cults are also mentioned as likely precursors of Christianity.
In The Pauline Epistles and The Rise of English Culture Johnson made the radical claim that the whole of the so-called Dark Ages between 700 and 1400 A. D. had never occurred, but had been invented by Christian writers who created imaginary characters and events. The Church Fathers, the Gospels, St. Paul, the early Christian texts as well as Christianity in general are identified as mere literary creations and attributed to monks (chiefly Benedictines) who drew up the entire Christian mythos in the early 16th century. As one reviewer said, Johnson “undertakes to abolish all English history before the end of the fifteenth century.” Johnson contends that before the “age of publication” and the “revival of letters” there are no reliable registers and logs, and there is a lack of records and documents with verifiable dates.

2024.05.14 09:33 Futton9 ALL EU/NA Bo5 vs LCK/LPL teams and more facts

A week ago, Caedrel highlighted an older post comparing NA/EU vs LCK/LPL teams. However, the post lacked a little of detail and caused some confusion (e.g., G2: 1/5 means 1 win in 5 games, not 1 win and 5 losses).
Many of us are keen to get a clearer picture of the matchups between Western and Eastern regions. So, I've done research to bring you a straightforward and comprehensive overview. I've focused on the stats since Season 14, but I'll also include some figures from earlier seasons for those interested.

Last Time (and only) NA got in semifinals was on 2018.
Last Time EU got in semifinals was on 2020.

2024.05.14 09:33 jmangraf Imperfect Frame-Perfect Combat

Imperfect Frame-Perfect Combat
Jumped on the hype train for Another Crab's Treasure. Though I do like the combat formula of Metroidvania/Souls-like games, I was mostly convinced to play because it followed the world/story formula of fun and poignant to start before becoming esoteric and 'horrific' by the end.
That being said, and while I did have fun playing for several hours, the game is hitting a point of failure.
After reaching the Expired Grove, the game really begins to take a down turn. It's as if it took notes only from DS2 enemy placement. Constant tough enemies literally buried with proximity triggers while you're being targeted by ranged elite enemies] and all the while common enemies dot them both in between with often no room for 'luring'. The kind of tough that doesn't really feel rewarding, just cheap.
Then, the game suffers from rendering areas to where it can cause severe stuttering (10 to even 5 or less frames a second, on series x) which, while only generally annoying, highlights as particularly bad in the tight combat where being frame perfect in your reaction has about a 20% chance of being "too early" because the game simply can't keep up. I made sure to test this on Grovekeeper Topoda, and several elite enemies in general overall, several times over during both parry and dodge+attack or dodge+heal windows to be sure.
While mentioning Topoda, it also tends to be bad design when the boss can clip itself outside the combat arena during evasive maneuvers only to quickly launch itself back in with ranged attacks that cause you to play pure defense. That, ALONG with the fact that if its ground-covering moves happen to cross a rock in the arena it causes clipping and stuttering in the animation, make it even harder to time with the already difficult combat scenario.
Continuing with Topoda, the boss also takes aspects of the DS style bosses and then butchers them by giving different attacks the same telegraph, as well as giving one of said attacks near-zero time to counter should it trigger during the same "wind-up" as the other two (the tail swipe). I understand wanting to make an optional boss difficult for lore purposes, but decimating the combat formula to so do so means you either failed to understand why it's (the combat formula) so good in the first place or else tried far too hard to give a, let's be honest--now hammered into the dirt--formula your own "difficulty originality."
Game could've been great, but the fact that its own performance issues hinder the very combat formula it uses, not to mention pairing that with the devs desperate attempt to 'make it their own,' really holds it back. Its sad too because the 'original aspects' it has like the now streamlined shell mechanic introduced by Mortal Shell, and the Hollow Knight-esque abilities (adaptabilities), felt really flushed out for this game. But there's nothing worse than getting so dialed into the otherwise precise combat that when the game's latency/performance issues kick in it causes your perfect timing to be a hindrance--meaning you need to figure out the latency in a given area of the game and compensate (as becomes very noticeable during harder bosses).

2024.05.14 09:30 elysiancat Allianz insurance invoice

Hi all, I could use some advice with the following problem.
In February I had to move to a new flat in Geneva, so I explored some different household insurance options e.g. Elvia by Allianz and AXA. From their website you can put in your preferences and get a quote for insurance over email. I got a mail from Elvia with the offer, and they mentioned that to confirm it you have to reply to the email or call them to confirm the application.
I never replied to their email as I went with AXA instead, and since Elvia required you to explicitly confirm the offer over email or phone I assumed I did not need to do anything further since I did not reply/call to accept.
However last week I recieved an invoice for them for the insurance, which is really worrying me. I reached out to their support but got a generic reply to pay my invoice. I didn't confirm their application as they asked, so why would the insurance apply to me? Can anyone let me know if this is normal? I will call their support too again but I'm just so worried at having to suddenly pay this unexpected bill.

2024.05.14 09:30 SaucyArtifact Internet problems

So I've been having intermittent internet issues for about a month and consistently unusable internet for about a week.
I'll be getting my full speed down and up with low latency, then suddenly after anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour I'll start getting crazy inbound packet loss. If I'm on Discord while it's happening everyone else will sound robotic and nothing will load (or will load very slowly), but for them I sound normal. Sometimes I can get a speedtest to run and I'll have almost nothing for download but my full upload speed. The strange thing is if I restart my modem the problem will literally vanish, every time. But the issue will ALWAYS come back after some time.
I've obviously had my ISP send people out (for context, I live in an apartment with 12 units, this may be pertinent later), and they've never been able to give me a resolution to the problem or even positively isolate the issue. I had one Tech leave and call someone else in to finish the job because quote: "I'm tired of chasing ghosts in this building" (which I found hilarious more than anything). I'm assuming there's a lot going on in the networking stuff in the basement because they've been down there many times and for many hours in total trying to track down the problem.
Now fast forward to a few days ago, the last time I had someone out to look at it. This time around was different in that the tech actually seemed pretty positive on what the issue was. According to him the signal at the wall (coaxial) in my unit was clearly bad, but downstairs at the other end of that cable, the signal is good. So he was pretty certain the problem is actually the cable in the wall, which they unfortunately can't do anything with so I was referred to my landlord to resolve the issue.
Now my question is; does that sound plausible? I am by no means an expert but from what I've heard, these coaxial cables very rarely go bad and the issue usually lies in the splitters (which I assume there is a mess of down there considering the age of the building and the number units serviced). And along with that, how hard will it be for them to replace this cable? I've contacted the landlord and someone is coming to check it out in a couple days but I'm just worried they either won't replace it or that it won't even fix the issue.
Sorry if this was all over the place, I'll clarify anything needed in the comments, thanks

2024.05.14 09:28 Undefeated-Smiles Fallout Future Game Ideas I'd love to see but probably will never happen 👀

These are my own thoughts about the type of new game changes to the future Fallout narratives I'd like to see get developed, so hold down your Vats and just listen to me before you blast me away? ☢️
Harold the Living Tree from Fallout 3 begins to let out of the community and slowly mutates/changes the wasteland into something more vivid and quite dangerous for everyone. They could showcase new plant like mutants such as Venus Fly Trap enemies, some new insects, perhaps walking mutated trees that speak due to the cult being infected by the sap
The Waters Of Life from Fallout 3 has taken a new effect on the wasteland. The waters are beginning to rapidly mutate into a healthier environment for all of the wasteland, with few radiation storms now happening and it becoming a new warzone over the control of fresh water.
The Brotherhood Of Steel dismantling from all of the previous games events and reorganizing into a new military faction that aims to be more ruthless but protective of humanity's own future survival. It could give the franchise a new spin on an OG group
Synths, and A.I robots finally overcoming their own limitations and becoming a civilized faction in the world. They could blend in easily with their own technology that's changing the environment around themselves, and have a new city that's solely built on solar powered cells and synthetic life ruling it.
Supermutants that are becoming more intelligent, who can speak different languages remembering their old lives that can be bargained with or can have a conversation so you can encounter them with a little more variety other than just fight for it.
References to Fallout 1-2, New Vegas, 4 and the TV series by NPCs or Quest givers would be a lot of fun. It would be entertaining to hear npcs complain or get frustrated over the sight of a pipboy and a vault suit again and want nothing to do with you out of fear of the past events. Make Vault Dwellers the type of "ghost stories" that are shared because of their accomplishments over hostile enemies lately.
Being able to start the Fallout Experience not as a vault dweller as always. Perhaps we can start the game as a Pre-War Ghoul who experiences the bombs during their day time life or job, which then flashes into the future as a Bounty Hunter, or some kind of life ahead. Perhaps we are a prototype synth just being reprogrammed by the remnants of the institute and go to learn about humanity's life.
Maybe they let us play as a young Supermutant who is abducted by a villainous group and we can then slowly learn about them and go for revenge for their actions against your own kind. You could be a full mutant or a half breed with human looks but the abilities of a mutant, would be interesting.
Even though Todd Howard said the franchise will be in the States alone I can't help but wonder what the Canadian style of Fallout would be like. Imagine mutated Deer, beavers, all kinds of unique animals. It could even introduce factions that are obsessed with hockey that have become violent and hostile, with actual winter environments due to the bombs.

2024.05.14 09:27 LuckyRedShirt Hour-long queues, 3km walks to school pick-up and petrol for 99 cents - Illawarra Mercury

Motorists have queued for hours to purchase petrol for 99 cents at two Illawarra service stations, inadvertently blocking a pre-school at pick up time in the process.
The promise of petrol for 99 cents, something not seen on price boards since the early 2000s, in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis was the ultimate drawcard on Tuesday afternoon.
Drivers could refuel at the Metro Petroleum station at Figtree for 99.9 cents for two hours between 3pm and 5pm.
Doordash driver Scott Holland had been in line since 2.15pm.
“It’s crazy,” he said, as he approached the roundabout at Uralba Street.
Mr Holland said he spends more than $220 a week on fuel, so the deal was too good to miss.
“Remember back in the 90s, it was 60 cents [a litre] and when it got to 99 cents we said we’d never pay a dollar.
“Look at it now.”
Not everyone was happy to sit in the traffic lines that at some points stretched to the McDonalds on the Princes Highway.
Nearby resident Ray Lonsdale said he couldn’t pick up his children from the nearby public school, with cars already lined up on Murray Road at 2pm.
“It was a dumb move to do it at school time.”
The deal was part of a promotion for a company called DCT – Dreams Come True which offers members discounts and giveaways.
Dreams did not come true for parents and staff at KU Figtree, some of whom had to walk for up to three kilometres to pick up their children and staff were parked in well after finishing work.
Organisers of the promotion said they would reconsider the timing of the discount petrol in future events.
‘If they can do it we can too’ On the other side of the M1, word had gotten out about the deal, and the new owners of Speedway Petroleum on Crown Street decided to get in on the action.
Sid Saliba purchased the petrol station late last year and saw the occasion as a good way to give back to the community.
“We heard about the other company doing it so we might as well match it,” he said.
“If they can do it, we can do it [too].”
Mr Saliba said he was selling the petrol at a loss – “everybody knows this price is mad” – but in the hyper-competitive world of petrol pricing and with all prices in the area available on the Fuel Check website, you had to stay ahead of the competition.
At Speedway, petrol was 99.0 cents.

2024.05.14 09:27 Jazzlike-Story-5487 [HELP] My heavily pregnant best friend cut me off due to religion

I (28) met my best friend two years ago, and we grew exceptionally close very quickly. I told her that I find it difficult to trust after I’ve been repeatedly hurt in the past, but she made it her mission to gain my trust. We knew everything about each other’s lives, and while we had little conflicts, we managed to sort out those well. That gave me a lot of hope for the future.
Around the time I met her, she became a devout Christian. While not being Christian, I supported her beliefs. She is part of a private church community, but they allowed me to attend some sessions, so I thought they taught an open mindset. Only after a while, I noticed some shifts in my best friend’s attitude and feared that she’d become too radical, e.g., she considers homosexuality a sin equal to murder and believes non-Christians will go to hell. I didn’t agree but accepted these things because she was amazing in other regards.
While she talked about her religion a lot, I shared my own spiritual beliefs: I have an ambivalent relationship with God given the suffering in the world and pray to angels instead. Something that helped me endure hardship and what I’ve been doing for friends also is reading cards. I don’t expect anyone to agree with my beliefs but to tolerate them just as much as I tolerate theirs.
I lived in Miami, FL, when I met her but had to move back to Europe last year. As I’m planning to return later this year, I’m flying over a lot and when not meeting in person, we were constantly chatting. Meanwhile, she met a guy who adheres to her new Christian values, and they married within a few months. Shortly after the wedding, she got pregnant. I was happy for her but also apprehensive about how quickly things were moving. Their financial conditions for starting a family aren’t ideal, and it shows: Earlier this year, they moved and now she, her husband, her mother and a dog live in a one-bedroom apartment, all while a baby will be added to the mix. I didn’t mean to offend her but couldn’t hide my shock and offered my support, e.g., finding an affordable apartment, taking the baby on weekends after I moved back.
When I last saw my friend end of March, we discussed her fears about giving birth and I promised to be present around her due date in June. Back in Europe, I told her when I booked my flights but – no response. For a few more messages, I assumed she was busy and didn’t give it a second thought. After four weeks of silence, I grew worried and texted daily to check in on her. I reached out to her husband, no response. Then to her sister and her church community that confirmed she is fine. I was so confused. On May 1st, I woke up to a message from her: She wants to distance herself from me because of my ‘dark practices’. She first wants to give birth and settle into motherhood before she has time to pray and determine if my soul can be saved and if we can stay friends. I’m supposed to wait indefinitely until her final verdict.
I broke down crying. I loved her so much and to be condemned for something that helps me cope with my own struggles felt wrong. I had told her about how the experience of being cut off abruptly by someone – without prior warning, without a conversation where I could take a stance – was traumatizing for me in the past, and that’s exactly what she did. I tried to argue with her, but she insisted that she can’t accept a belief that questions the glory of God. I assumed that the matter is blown out of proportions and will sort out itself. A few days later, I noticed that she and her husband removed me on social media. I expressed how much this is hurting me. I asked her to at least have one video call with me so we can discuss these things face-to-face before sending me away, but now she’s ghosting me.
I will fly to Miami in two weeks, but I don’t know what to do or how to cope with this situation. Her environment seems to support her decision and if I say something, I’m being made into someone who stresses out a woman that is about to give birth. I’m so depressed that I can barely sleep and eat anymore, and I feel like I’m being punished even though I tried my best to be a good friend for her. At the same time, I’m still worried about her and her circumstances.
Why is she doing this? And what should I do now?
