I (female 16) and my mom (female 35) don’t always get along. Understandably, my mom was upset when I told her I was pregnant. When I told my mom I had acknowledged that she was going to be upset before actually telling her, after I told her I took a nap and she called my dad and although she was upset my dad says she seemed to have calmed down.
The next day my mom called me and starting yelling at me and telling me that I was being a “hoe” and “I shouldn’t have been whoring around.” I told my mom when I was 15 weeks and 4 days along, I told my mom that I truly needed her to keep her comments to herself so I wasn’t becoming overly stressed. After we went back and forth some I went no contact with my mom for almost 6 weeks. The only reason I started talking to her again is because she texted me telling me she hopes my baby and I are doing well and I decided I didn’t want to withhold my daughter from my mom just because she said things she shouldn’t have when I was pregnant. I was trying to be the bigger person and allow her a relationship with my daughter.
My mom and I talk maybe once a week now as she’s upset I’ve put some boundaries in place. These aren’t boundaries with just her but with everyone. My mom would say things like a couple weeks after I have her she was going to come to my house and take her for a week(she lives 6 hours away from me) when I told her she’s not allowed to go out of state without me until she’s way older my mom starts to call me “an orca” which upset me since I’m already dealing with my teenage emotions and hormones on top of the pregnancy ones.
Then my mom starts to tell me once I go to my next doctors appointment I need to get my doctor to send her a note so she can be with me when I go into labor. When I told my mom the only person I want in the room with me when I have my daughter is her father then she asked me about my birth plan. I continued to tell her that I was going to a birth center instead of the hospital (hospitals make me uncomfortable and anxious) and I wasn’t going to get an epidural she told me that I can’t do it that way because it makes her uncomfortable and that I think I’m not going to get the epidural until I’m in a lot of pain. After I told my mom that I’m not going to do it the way she did it or how I’m not going to do everything the way anyone else did she got really quiet and was in a hurry to get off the phone with me.
A couple days later(after I’ve opened up to my dad about how I was feeling) she told me she wasn’t out of place of anything we had previously talked about. She continued on by telling me that I need to send her my daughter’s social security so she can put her on insurance which I’m pretty sure she can’t because I’m not even on her insurance. My mom keeps nagging on the idea that her and my younger brothers are going to come down here after she’s born but I doing want them around her until my daughter is at least 6 weeks old (around Halloween time). My mom seems to feel like she can push my boundaries with my daughter just because she’s my mom. As much as I love my mom and brothers, my mom is kind of a narcissist and tries to have everything her way. As for my brothers (15, 9, and 4) two of them are too rough, the 4 year old is bigger than he realizes and has been the baby of the entire family for the past 4 years. The 9 year old has been through a lot and I have been his support system through it and I don’t want him to feel like I’m replacing him or forgetting him.

Ya know what? This is actual slavery. What happened to having time off to be able to reset? I don’t even own a car and the cost of living has soared. The only attempt I have to break the chains of earning slavery wages is to become a small business, but that money is coming from myself and it hurts more than good. I have zero off days. I don’t even have food in the fridge and when I get any food, it’s very little. I believe the heavens or hell sent me a baby cat on Halloween to keep me in a sane frame of mind. When does it end? 6 years ago I was actual homeless. Friends who I bend over backwards for turned the back on me when my luck was down. I sold everything I had and camped in the woods. 6 years forward, this is even more depressing. I had a car run me over but they had shit for insurance and at the EOD for my lifetime injuries I only got $2k which went to drugs and therapy. I don’t even have nice things. Im by myself and I used to have roommates but they turned to drugs and had to kick them out. I’m doing everything I can to try to keep my head above water. I got a 2% raise at work but after taxes, that’s just peanuts. I tried to ask for food stamps but apparently I’m not poor enough? $15k is the poverty level? At least I have a pot to piss in and a window to throw it out of but at this point, I’m running out of energy. Back in 2018, although I was working 60 hours a week, at least I had a car and food but I had no furniture. I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel but I can remain hopeful.

I kept promising a dev diary and I might as well start with our recent issues. Yes, it does sometimes feel that the project is cursed...
Last fall, our bank required numerous documents and financial plans from us, only to then inform us they were closing our account due to profitability concerns. This left us scrambling, and for a while, our (amazing) publisher, Digital Lounge, had to cover our core team’s wages and essential software costs. It was a challenging period, more so because it impacted not just our project but our team members and their families with many not seeing a payment in months. I don't think that I've slept that little in any other period in my life I know most of our employees personally; know of their problems, bills, etc.
Thankfully, our (wonderful) CEO Eleni was able to secure new banking services recently. This time she insisted on opening accounts with three banks to avoid any surprises down the line. We’ve even added some fresh talent to the (first-class) team, thanks to our (incredible) investor who has stood by us through thick and thin, insisting we never cut corners on quality.
Though I was once part of the banking sector, having worked at a risk department after college, the decision of our former bank was a tough pill to swallow. Luckily, our new banking partners have been a breath of fresh air, offering better services that have significantly eased our operations. In fact we've spent a few evenings with my (fantastic) right-hand person Anna gushing over the smooth UI and all the options the new institutions offer. We can't afford an accountant, preparing all the quarterly statements ourselves, and now it'll take us hours instead of days.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to finalize the game. For the first time in a long while, I’m genuinely enjoying the creative process - writing, directing, and collaborating with our actors. I posted about a month ago about starting a birth assistant training. I was recommended to this midwife by my supervisor. She told me that her sister is a midwife who needs assistants and is willing to trained them. The training cost 700 and it was over a 3 day training. Her website Implied that I would be responsible for supporting and calming the mother, which I had no problem doing.
1st red flag: she played newborn breathing sounds over youtube and have us try to diagnose what was wrong or right on the 1st day. Then she started explaining how to take blood pressure using a manual blood pressure machine. I was iffy because this seemed like I needed to be at least an RN to be doing this
2nd red flag: she veered to teaching her how to give injections in her living room and how to resuscitate a newborn. Alarm bells were going off.
I was disgusted that she would even try to teach her these things. When I didn't know hoe to do a blood pressure check or how to resuscitate an infant, she said it's okay because I would learn on the go. THESE MEDICAL PROCEDURES SHOULD NOT BE "TAUGHT ON THE GO"! I mean like this required serious and dedicated medical training. Like an RN or a doctor, at the least. Not a 3 day "course"
The next day, she had us using syringes on recent placenta. She didn't teach us anything about medical waste safety. She did tell us to be careful to not pierced ourselves because she didn't test the placenta. I had to leave. I did not finish the course. I honestly felt scammed!
If I was giving birth, I wouldn't trust her "assistants" or even her with anything. If I'm going to become a birth assistant, I'll do it through nursing school.

The found footage genre, properly executed, adds an ominous layer of mystery after the viewer has already decided to play with fear and watch a scary movie. Brothers Cameron and Colin Cairnes, co-writers and directors of Late Night with the Devil, nail the set up in the first minutes of this film. We're told the footage we are about to watch was recorded Halloween night 1977 in a TV studio for a successful, but never #1 rated, late night talk show host, Jack Delroy. Viewers may recall lead actor David Dalstmalchian's somber character Thomas Schiff, from The Dark Knight, in which he played the Joker's primary henchman.
While Delroy has enjoyed his rise to fame, a brooding side is revealed. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that his wife, Madeleine, recently passed from cancer. A flashback to an episode in which she guest starred shows an intimate moment between the couple shortly before her passing. Delroy, we're told, took a month away to grieve before making a surprisingly quick return to television.
The Halloween episode is an important one. It's ratings week, and the network, and its advertisers, expect big things. Delroy has a plan to deliver.
The Halloween show features four guests - a captivating, and eventually convincing mystic, a cocksure skeptic, a beautiful paranormal psychologist and her star client, Lily, the young, female sole survivor from a Satanic cult.
The episode starts well enough. The mystic, Christou, works the crowd and deploys the standard alphabet games that inevitably work before a large enough crowd. After a stumble or two, he finds, and delivers, an unusually detailed connection. Delroy is pleased, but quickly startled when Christou is overcome by spirit who goes by Delroy's private nickname for his deceased wife. Just as the tension begins to rise, and skin curls, Delroy goes to a commercial break. This device - rising tension before a quick word from the advertisers, is frequently deployed throughout the film.
During these breaks, Delroy chats with his similarly ratings-focused show handler, as well as the sidekick on his show, Rhys Auteri, who grows increasingly frightened by the paranormal events that make the show so captivating. Revealed along the way is a singularly focused Delroy. Ratings are king, and the devil is a hell of guest.
Enter Lily. An openly possessed young girl, she is the subject of popular Satanic Panic best-seller "Conversations with the Devil," authored by her adoptive mother and therapist, Dr. June Ross Miler. Despite Dr. Miller's pleas against it, Delroy has planned, and insists on following through with, a television first - a live possession. After a break, the studio is dark but for spot lights on Dr. Miller and a restrained Lily, seated facing each other with knees nearly knocking.
Delroy's plan starts fascinatingly enough, but takes a turn when a possessed Lily begins asking pointed questions about his past, and perhaps what Delroy traded for promised success. A dramatic confrontation between logic and the occult keeps your eyes glued for the final 20 minutes.

We are having an end-of-the-year celebration at our school next week. At the end of the day, they are having a faculty vs. staff basketball game. It’s basically a big pep rally, and the kids are so excited. However, they are charging students $2 to get in to watch the game. Those who don’t pay don’t get to watch. This isn’t the first time this has happened. There was another faculty v. students game back around Halloween, and they also charged $2 per kid. For this game, however, a very generous donor stepped up and paid so all of the students could go.
I don’t know about y’all, but this really rubs me the wrong way.
I teach at a very small-town, low-income, elementary/middle school, and a lot of households have multiple children that attend our school. Most of these families can barely afford groceries, let alone money to pay for all of their kids to watch a basketball game at school. Think about it. If they have 7 kids, that’s $14 that could go toward gas or food. If this day is about celebrating the end of school, why do the kids have to pay? I can understand students with behavior issues not being allowed to go, but not being allowed because you can’t pay? Especially for something that costs the school $0 to host. If they want to make money so badly, they could sell concessions like they do at the regular games.

I had an idea to help in solving the inventory issue we all face in Minecraft. I mean lets be real, you try to go out exploring and within 5 minutes your inventory is filled and you can't carry anything more.
One way to help fix this issue that exists in the game is shulker boxes, but those can be inconvenient to carry around since you're limited to carry as many as your inventory and ender chest can fit, plus with the addition of so many new items and loot in Minecraft that happens every update it gets often confusing and tedious to keep organizing your storage to be efficient and neat. Plus the biggest issue with shulkers is that they're quite late game, being obtained after beating the ender dragon.
My solution to this is a brand new set of items called Sacks!Sacks will be a set of items that can store small to large quantities of items inside them. When that particular item enters your inventory. it'll automatically get sent to its respective sack category, leaving your inventory free.
The sacks can be crouched and right clicked onto a chest to empty its contents into it in an organized way or can be opened by right clicking on pc and scrolling through or long pressing on mcpe. Plus hovering over them will show you the quantity of each item inside of the Sack.
Also Sacks can’t be placed inside shulker boxes, and you can have multiple of them at once inyour inventory.
There will be 6 types of Sacks:
-The Slayers Sack: These sacks will store common loot obtained from monsters, like rotten flesh, bones, gunpowder, spider eyes, string, ender pearls etc. These are common items that often clog our inventory while out and about caving, or exploring in the night. With the addition of this sack you'll have more space in your inventory to store the goodies that you obtain while looting structures and fighting off the fiends that are trying to end you.
-The Miners Sack: This type of sack would store diamonds, coal, iron ores, ingots and nuggets, gold ores, ingots and nuggets, redstone, amethyst, quartz etc. Basically ores and other valuable things you find while mining or caving, this just gives you more space to carry these things around without worrying about making them into blocks constantly to save inventory space.
-The Farmers Sack: This sack will help you with your farming needs, it'll have a special feature where regardless of the tier of the sack (more on that later!) you'll have a huge storage for wheat and beetroot seeds. These ones to help you not have your inventory just fill up with seeds while trying to collect wheat or harvesting potatoes and carrots from a large scale farm and having to constantly store them. As a bonus it also stores different types of flowers and even apples!
-The Fishermans Sack: This sack is useful to store some of the more niche items that you find while fishing or plundering the oceans. Stuff like cod, salmon, pufferfish, nautilus shells, kelp, ink sacs etc. These are things that you can get while fishing or swimming around that can clog up your inventory. This is one of the less useful sacks among the set but you never know when you might need it.
-The Masons Sack: This one is more intended to work hand in hand with the miners sack, as it stores types of commonly found and stonelike blocks in it, such as cobblestone, cobbled deepslate, diorite, andesite, granite, stone, even clay, clay blocks and bricks among other types of blocks! These will store all of these blocks while you're out and about exploring or collecting blocks while mining. This Sack will also be able to store pottery shards that you find while doing archaeology -The Lumberjacks Sack: This sack's function is to store wood, planks, sticks, saplings etc while you're chopping trees and clearing forests. This can also store blocks like leaves, wooden fences and stairs, and even wooden slabs to give them that extra bit of functionality.
Now these six sacks would be absolutely op and game breaking if they had infinite storage for their respective items, which is why I'm now gonna explain the tiers these sacks can be upgraded to if you want to increase their storage, as well as how these sacks can be obtained.
These sacks would be craftable but also obtainable through chests and other methods.-The Fishermans sack could have a chance to be bought from apprentice level fishermen, and it could also be found as a drop inside ocean ruins chests, sometimes already containing some loot inside them.-The Slayers sack could be found in dungeon chests, rarely even at tier 2(more on tiers upcoming soon), again sometimes having a bit of loot already in them. -The Farmers and Lumberjacks sack could be a drop found in village chests sometimes, again already containing a bit of loot in them.-The Masons sack could be excavated in archaeology sites-The Miners sack can be found in an ancient city, containing some loot and at tier 1 or tier 2.

-Tier 3: Plentiful “type of sack” Sack. Will store 4 stacks or 256 of every item that the sack can store. This tier will now be expensive to craft, as to reinforce the sack to be able to take this much weight it’ll need diamonds. The recipe will be:

-Tier 4: Huge “type of sack” Sack. This one will be pretty much all you’ll need to upgrade to, storing up to 8 stacks or 512 of the items it can store. But this comes with a hefty price, requiring a new powerful item to make sure it can be held along with a netherite scrap and diamonds!
The new item is ravager hide, a very rare drop from ravagers that can be used to craft saddles and upgrade sacks to tier 4. Now you have a reward at the end of fighting these fearsome beasts that isn’t just the thousandth saddle you dump in your chests. The recipe will be:

-Tier 5: Godly “type of sack” Sack. Can store 16 stacks or 1024 items! Most players would be comfortable with tier 4 for a long time, making tier 5 sacks pretty much overkill. I mean you’re never gonna require THAT much storage for just exploring. But for those who’re up for the challenge, well hold on to your seats, because to make each of these types of sacks is not only costly, but also insanely difficult, but it does give the sacks an enchant glint, so hey it's totally worth it for me. The 4 ravager hide and 2 netherite scraps will be repeating in every recipe.

Where R is the ravagers hide, O is an advanced crafting item, S is the tier 4 sack you want to upgrade, N is the netherite scraps and W is the special item, the one which makes obtaining these a challenge.
-Farmers Sack: This is a somewhat easy to craft one, taking up a notch apple in the O slot, and a Hero’s Emerald in the W slot. When you beat a Bad Omen V level raid, there's a 10% chance to obtain a Hero of the Village 6 level effect, after which farmer villagers have a chance to drop this upgrade at the player as the villagers shower you with rewards.
-Lumberjacks Sack: Another not so difficult to craft one, with the same recipe as the Farmers Sack but with a lumberjacks tier 4 sack
-Fishermans Sack: This recipe requires you to prove you have mastered the way of the seafarer. For this you need a conduit in the O slot, and an Elder Guardian Membrane in the W slot. An Elder Guardian Membrane is a very rare drop that Elder Guardians can drop. It can only be obtained by killing an Elder Guardian with an impaling V Trident, so looting won’t work on it.
-Masons Sack: This requires you to obtain the powers of mass destruction by using a tnt in the O slot and killing a wither to harness the nether star in the W slot.
-Slayers Sack: This recipe requires you to prove your combat skills. It requires any mob head, 4 ravager hide, 2 netherite scraps to reinforce it, and the Slayers Upgrade. This is a very rare upgrade that can be found very rarely through ominous vaults in the trial chamber, with a measly 1.5% odds.
-Miners Sack: This one requires you to conquer the underground, requiring a block of diamond in the O slot and a Warden's Heart in the W slot. Yes, a Warden's heart. It can only be dropped when a player kills a warden, having damaged at least over half of its health, and has a 33% chance of dropping with looting 3.
The goal basically is to have a place for some of the random tidbits to go to from your inventory, obviously this needs more work, balancing etc. but I think it could be quite helpful

Hello, fellow spikes, I'm back to talk about everyone's favorite Standard archetype, Five Color Legends. As always, summoning u/scvirnay, and all the others who have contributed to the development and growth of this amazing deck over the last several months. I'll edit in links to others' posts when I'm done typing this out, as I'm 4 or 5 beers deep and can't be bothered to back out and search them up right now.
Well, it's been a long road full of rewards and setbacks since our boy posted this gem way back when. Since my last post, I won an RCQ with Legends (paper list here: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6153582#paper) and have made top 25-50 easily on Arena ladder whenever I have played it consistently. I run various versions of the deck, based on my feelings about the meta and how I want to play, and I want to do a deep dive into the card choices here. I've seen more 5c Legends in the last week since the PT than in the last 6 months combined. Lots of folks are experimenting with the archetype, and I hope my experience will benefit those working it out.
First, let's examine what I consider to be the core, almost non-negotiable cards in 5c Legends. (Current list here: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6372629#paper)
[[Jodah, the Unifier]] is simply the best lord in Standard, if not the game. Nothing gets you the amazing game-winning effect that Jodah does. I once played a paper match against some poor guy who just looked across the table and sighed, "Everything is so big," before scooping. What more can we say? 4 of.
[[Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea]] is the mana dork of choice. She's more like a mana Stacy, really, when she untaps and lets us cast a 3 mana legend on 4 after having put Jodah on board, triggering a cascade into another 1 or 2 mana legend to really seal the deal. Sadly, like many of our cards, she dies ignominiously to [[Cut Down]], but we play to win, unlike those so-called 'interactive' lily-livers. 4 of.
[[Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]]. You know her, you love her. Maybe not as much as that one guy (you know who I mean,) but she is the sticky glue that the scaredy pants midrange players get stuck in while we slam Jodah and Djeru. She shuts down the control players, the RDW, the prowess monkeys, all of it. We don't need instant and sorceries, because our creature quality is simply leagues above anything anyone else can play. 3 of, can consider another in the board.
[[Hajar, Loyal Bodyguard]]. I'm not gay, but if I was, Hajar would be the man for me. Not only does he play Captain Save-A-Hoe, he actually buffs our creatures for that little extra damage we need for a kill, or to surprise stomp that blocker Opp was so confident in. 3 of.
[[Skrelv, Defector Mite]]. Everyone's favorite Phyrexian, Bug Lady GF notwithstanding. We don't care about the toxic, but we love making lethal unblockable, or shutting down Opp's [[Go For the Throat]] just as they think they've found an answer to our onslaught. 3 of. 2 if you're brave and know what you're doing.
[[Djeru and Hazoret]]. These two and their shenanigans cannot be underestimated. So often slamming the board hasty and vigilant, digging for another legendary to cement the win, or with cards in hand allowing us to untap Gwenna and flood the board, this card is second only to Jodah as the main attraction of this deck. I run 3 main and 1 in the board for Domain and Control matchups. Nothing says fuck your Sunfall like hasty D&H for lethal. 10/10.
[[Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire]] and [[Boseiju, Who Endures]]. Non-creature spells in the main are for plebes with nervous dispositions. We only bring those out of the board when particular threats are identified, and then only sparingly for a targeted response to the degeneracy Opp displays. 2-3 copies of each of these marvelous channel lands provide us with all the interaction we generally need. Every playstyle is different and every player's tolerance for dead cards likewise. Run a balance of these and basics based on your own disposition. Pretty soon we won't be able to run them at all, so maybe we should get used to life without them, idk.
From here, everything is subjective in my opinion. Here are some cards I run, and some I don't, and my reasoning behind those decisions:
[Inti, Seneschal of the Sun]]. I love this card, and it's in almost all of my builds, but I may just be partial to it. The filtering is great, the counters are great, but it's also not the best turn 2 play. Its ability to overcome the hordes of boros convoke et al when it comes time to finish the game cannot be overlooked. I usually run 3, but it's not core to the identity of legends imo, and you may consider other options.
[[Dennick, Pious Apprentice]] is a card I have gone back and forth on many times, but its ability to gain life, partially shut down graveyard shenanigans, and recur as a flier that makes clues has persuaded me to include it as a one of at least in nearly every build. I've run as many as 3 in the 75, depending on what I'm seeing in the meta.
[[Samut, Vizier of Nakhtamun]], long overlooked, but seeing play in many gruul builds, is one of my favorite cards to run. While it dies to cut down, a vigilant hasty first striker that draws cards for 3 cannot be overlooked. (Speaking of cut down, I wish WOTC would print Fatal Push into standard so I could dodge it with all these 3 drops. I thought that was gonna work in pioneer but it didn't. Sad.) This card is dynamite against boros convoke as both an offensive and defensive threat. It shines against golgari, especially if we can pump it with an Inti. It synergies beautifully with Anim Pakal and Adeline. I love it, I just wish it wasn't another 3 drop that dies to cut down. Still, I think it's worth a look for your build.
[[Anim Pakal]]. This card is simultaneously so good and so fragile, and it's a huge priority target for removal. At 3 mana, a hugely overcrowded slot in Legends already, I just can't decide to love it or hate it. When I pump it with Halana and Alena, or when it somehow dodges Cut Down for the two whole stinking turns it usually takes to outgrow that hateful card, I love it. When I spend three mana for a 1/2 that can't block shit and it dies the turn it comes out I get big sad. But then the next game I get it swinging with Samut and draw 3 cards into UW control and I'm in love again. TL:DR: it needs to be in your arsenal, but it's a meta call, and a feel choice.
[[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]] is Anim Pakal but different. Draws cards with Samut, gets out of control, but it doesn't usually die to cut down, it can block, and it's vigilant. It always pulls the removal if they have it, too, so if you untap with it, you're good til next turn. I've been as high as 3-of, and also left it out.
[[Jirina, Dauntless General]], like Hajar, can rescue our damsels and gentlemen in distress, but more importantly, she exiles graveyards. Not only that, but she makes Humans hexproof. In UW control and Domain matchups, I frequently swap her in for Hajar to dodge [Leyline Binding]], [[March of Swirling Mist]], etc. Auto-include post-board for Temur and Jund Analyst, as well as Roots, Looting Crime, Golgari-I-Put-Down-Atraxa-On-Three, etc. Imo she is a 3-of in the 75 in the current meta.
[[Halana and Alena, Partners]]. Maaaaaaan. When this card is good its so good. But if you hate 3 drops dying to Cut Down, do I have a fun challenge for you. I want this card to work, and sometimes it Works. I currently run it as a 1-of, mostly to dissuade Bats, but also for the rare occasion I can pump Anim Pakal. Also hilarious to make a 16/16 hasty Jodah. Early versions of 5c Legends ran 3, and I can see that working for some people, but I've had this card dead in hand or dead to Cut Down off a Raffine Connive before it could intercept the Bat it was meant for too many times to love it like I want to.
[[Kellan, the Kid]] is the new Kid on the block, and I have been running it as a 2-of. The life gain is super relevant against aggro decks like Boros and RDW. Occasionally I actually have a card in hand when my Jodah or Djeru triggers resolve. The flying is huge against Dimir and Esper. It doesn't die to Cut Down. Worth considering even as a 3-of. Definitely an auto-include as a 1-of imo.
[[Katilda, Dawnheart Prime]] is a card I have messed around with quite a bit. In 24-land variants, I think she can be dynamite. She usually just dies to removal, but so does anything you might play on 2 (except my boy Hajar who DOESN'T DIE TO CUT DOWN).] The real issue, and I'll just include them here, is the same as the one with [[Inga and Esika]] and [[Relic of Legends]], which is that they make you greedy. You CAN cast every creature in your hand, and tap all your mana and all your creatures on the board and then die to Sunfall or Opp removing your 1 or 2 blockers. At the end of the day, I think these cards are too greedy in the 5c Legends shell. Relic works in 4c because it's durdly and plays Gurk, and recycles channel lands and whatever. That's not our game. Our game is RESPONSIBLY slamming big mana, big power creatures for early wins, often. And to those of you who have run into me on the ladder and whipped me with your greedy mana dork decks, congrats. Please let me know if my assessment is wrong and you actually keep the dream alive long enough against Domain and Azorius to rank up.
[[Harbin, Vanguard Aviator]] is an interesting card in terms of value and position in the meta. I've played with him quite a bit, and I find him very effective against the many decks that play fliers as their primary creature type. Legends runs lots of Soldiers, but I've never gotten the combat trigger to go. I think this card is worth having in the arsenal, but I'm not running it at the moment.
[[Honest Rutstein]] is a real superstar. Currently I'm only running as a 1-of, but I've run as many as 3. Recursion combined with discount is great. Dies to Cut Down like every other damn card in the deck. Seriously, can we ban this stupid card already? Sorry. Anyway, I love it, play with it, build your whole deck around it if you want. Dynamite card.
[[Goddric, Cloaked Reveler]] is a card I have run as a 3-of, and also as a board option. Gwenna->Jodah->Goddric is insane. At least an 8/8 in the air, hasty, and often bigger. If you have [[Feldon, Ronom Excavator]] in the deck, you have the potential for the biggest turn 4 in Standard, at 34-36 damage swinging. This is the card for the true Aggro aficionado. Feldon just means you're a madlad. Go on with your bad self, madlad.
[[Sigard, Champion of Light]] is a card I have not played with, but just crafted. Looks amazing. Not a human, but the colors are easy. Great effects. Not 5 power so doesn't trigger Gwenna. We will see.
[[Sigarda, Font of Blessings]] is too cute imo. Automatic target for removal. Not a human. Doesn't trigger Gwenna. I just don't like 4 drops very much because the Gwenna->Jodah math om turn 4 doesn't work out. Still, it makes all your other stuff hexproof if you resolve it. I'd just rather be resolving a 3-drop off the Gwenna->Jodah hit. I think 4-drops are lackluster in this archetype.
MANA BASE
[[Secluded Courtyard]], [[Cavern of Souls]], and [[Plaza of Heroes]] are the core of this deck. Ironically, the mana base is what makes the deck possible, and also its greatest handicap. I run 2 Boseiju, 2 Eiganjo, 1 each Plains and Forest, and the rest pain lands. Lots of people like fast lands or even run a triome or two. My view is that I always want untapped mana. Gwenna into Jodah is useless if I have a 3-drop and play a tap land. Thanks, guess I'll just die now. I'd rather die tapping [[Battlefield Foege]] for a white to cast Djeru and Hazoret.
SIDEBOARD
I'm a big fan of lifelink in the board. Dennick, Kellan, whatever. [[Animist's Might]] is good. [[Pick Your Poison]] is a 2 or 3-of. [[Surge of Salvation]] is a good option. [[Smuggler's Surprise]] is Heroic intervention with upscaling options. Jirina is a must-have in the board with all the dumb graveyard stuff happening.
[[Tomik, Wielder of Law]] is great against go-wide, Esper, Dimir, etc, and doesn't die to Cut Down, which is dynamite. [[Ertai Resurrected]] is a 3-of in my board for Domain and Control variants to combat board wipes and Atraxa, Herd Migration, etc.
I don't like [[Temporary Lockdown]] or Brotherhood's End]] because of the dual pips. I don't really like non-creature spells in general, honestly, but I accept that sometimes we need them, and that Thalia is probably dead to Cut Down anyway. I take solace in the fact that it cost them 2 mana to do it.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Skrelv->Hajar or Thalia->Gwenna->Jodah->any 3-drop is one of the best sequences in magic. Following that up post-Sunfall with a hasty Djeru and Hazoret for lethal is why Richard Garfield invented this game. Everyone is sad that WOTC has nearly ruined competitive magic in favor of Commander nonsense. Playing Legends is our way of taking this game back with the cards they tried to destroy it with. P.S. I've seen so many legends variants, and have been brewing many myself. Bant-based 5c, Bant, Rakdos, Grixis Crimes, Jund Outlaws, etc. Please share your lists and thoughts on them. I'll be in the corner drinking a beer.
