GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”) was announced a few hours ago by OpenAI, and although the announcement livestream is good, the real gold nuggets are in the 22 demo videos they posted on their channel.
I watched all of them, and here are the key takeaways and use cases we all should know. 👍🏻
A. The Ultimate Learning Partner
What is it? Give GPT-4o a view of the math problem you’re working on, or the objects you want to learn the language translation of, and it can teach you like no other tool can.
Why should you care? Imagine when you can hook up GPT-4o to something like the Meta Rayban glasses: then you can always have it teach you about whatever you are looking at. That can be a math problem, an object you want translated, a painting you want the history of, or a product that you want get the reviews of online. This single feature alone has incredibly many use-cases!

B. The Perfect Teams Meeting Assistant
What is it? Having an AI assistant during Teams meetings, whom you can talk to the same way you talk to your colleagues.
Why should you care? Their demo didn’t expound on the possibilities yet, but some of them can be…

• having the AI summarise the minutes and next steps from the meeting
• having the AI look up info in your company data and documentation pages (e.g. “what’s the sales from this month last year?”)
• having the AI work on data analysis problems with you (e.g. “create a chart showing sales over the past 5 years and report on trends”)

What is it? Have GPT-4o act like the company you’re interviewing for.
Why should you care? What’s changed is that the AI can now “see” you. So instead of just giving feedback on what you say, it can also give feedback on how you say it. Layer this on top of an AI avatar and maybe you can simulate the interview itself in the future?

D. Your Personal Language Translator, wherever you go
What is it? Ask ChatGPT to translate between languages, and then speak normally.
Why should you care? Because of how conversational GPT-4o has become, the AI now helps not just with translating the words, but also the intonation of what you’re intending to say. Now pair this with GPT-enabled earphones in a few years, and you pretty much can understand any language (AirPods x ChatGPT, anyone?)

E. Share Screen with your AI Coding Assistant
What is it? Share screen with your AI partner, and have them guide you through your work.
Why should you care? Now this is definitely something that will happen pretty soon. Being able to “share screen” to your AI assistant can help not just with coding, but even with other non-programmer tasks such as work in excel, powerpoint, etc.

F. A future where AIs interact with each other
What is it? Two GPT-4o’s interacting with each other, that sounds indistinguishable from two people talking. (They even sang a song together!)
Why should you care? Well there’s a couple of use cases:

• can you imagine AI influencers talking to each other live on Tiktok? Layer this conversation with AI avatars and this will be a step beyond the artificial influencers you have today (e.g. the next level of @lilmiquela maybe?)
• can this be how “walled” AIs can work together in the future? example: Meta’s AI would only have access to facebook’s data, while Google’s AI would only have access to google’s - will the two AIs be able interact in a similar fashion to the demo, albeit behind-the-scenes?

What is it? Asking GPT-4o to "train” your pets
Why should you care? Given GPT-4o’s access to vision, can you now have AI personal trainers for your pets? Imagine being able to have it connect to a smart dog-treat dispenser, and have the AI use that to teach your dog new tricks!

H. Brainstorm with two GPTs
What is it? The demo shows how you can talk to two GPT-4o’s at once
Why should you care? The demo video is centered around harmonizing singing for some reason, but I think the real use case is being able to brainstorm with two specific AI personalities at once:

• one’s a Devil’s Advocate, the other’s the Angel’s advocate?
• one provides the Pros (the Optimist), the other gives the Cons (the Pessimist)?
• maybe Disney can even give a future experience where you can talk to Joy and Sadness from the movie Inside Out? - that would be interesting!

I. Accessibility for the Blind
What is it? Have GPT-4o look at your surroundings and describe it for you
Why should you care? Imagine sending it the visual feed from something like the Meta Rayban glasses, and your AI assistant can literally describe what you’re seeing, and help you navigate your surroundings like never before (e.g. “is what I’m holding a jar of peanut butter, or a jar of vegemite?”). This will definitely be a game-changer for how the visually impaired lives their daily lives.

How The Chart Works:

These charts are created based on how frequently each song appears in the top 10 songs/albums for all of the users signed up for the chart. If the song or album occupies that user's #1 spot in their individual chart, it receives 15 points, then 14 points for #2, so on and so forth until 6 points for #10. If there is a tie, which is a common occurrence, then the number of points is averaged across those positions, e.g. if two songs are tied for #1, both will receive 14.5 points. Oftentimes there will be multiple songs tied for the last place, in which case the number of points each song receives decreases until it bottoms out at 1 point each.

I'm having a really hard time getting over my ex boyfriend. We were only technically together for a month even though I knew him as a child. The biggest problem is that I'm so obsessed that I can't function.
It has been three and a half months since he dumped me and my physical symptoms have gotten worse. At first I was numb and sad but it progressed to staying in bed all day or staring at the wall. I can't even eat or sleep and am suddenly scared to go outside.
I am on high doses of antidepressants and anxiety meds and I also see a therapist once a week, but I know I should not be acting so extreme.
I literally can't think of anything but my ex or things related to him, so I tried to distract myself by joining Facebook Dating. There i met a nice guy and even talked on the phone with him thinking that it would be comforting just to hear a man's voice.
Well, now the guy wants to meet me and we have exchanged Facebooks. This was last night, and ever since, I have been having horrible pains like I've been kicked in the stomach. My chest burns and aches and I'm missing my ex more than ever and worried I will never find someone I like as much as him again.
I'm currently in my bed and only got up to feed my dog and let her out.
I have been trembling with chills even though it's a hot day.
I have had similar episodes with other obsessions but nothing this bad.
When I pushed myself to shower yesterday, it was so painful and I spent the day rocking back and forth for hours to comfort myself.

about 6 months ago, i was in a very toxic and filthy living situation with a childhood friend (i am f21 and he was m22). I became desperate on my roommate search, and moved in with a girl (f21) off facebook university roommate search. I met her a few times, found her to be really well put together and mentally stable (which i really needed to live with given my mental health issues.) this apartment is kind of expensive, we both pay 750-800 a month, and its some of the cheapest stuff you can find in my city unless you want to live in a shit hole. for a while, she was an ideal roommate. i prefer being alone, and she is basically using this apartment for storage and to lie to her parents (she is EXTREMELY CATHOLIC) while she stays at her boyfriend every single night and day. I maybe see her a couple times a week in passing, or she is here when i am at work or busy. I like to be energy efficient, i keep lights off when im not in the room, i do not use the air unless im warm or the heat unless im freezing. like i said, she was ideal for a while. then i started realizing things. she comes in and leaves all the lights on in the apartment, she organizes things of mine in my drawers and cabinets without asking, she nails pictures of jesus up on the wall and leaves ugly bible quote's everywhere (i am alternative and collect clowns, do taxidermy, and have pet spiders) so its a strange juxtaposition, she writes her to do lists on my calenders and weekly planners on the wall, she comes in and adjusts the air to insane conditions that she doesnt even realize because shes never here, and has the room with lots of space and sunlight that is almost twice of mine yet never spends time in it.(picture is comparison of our room, she lives door open so no i didnt go in there to take picture) idk what to do! she really wants to move with me when our lease is up (i would much rather stay here because i plan to move out of state next year) and she is refusing to negotiate a plan that works out for both of us, and is practically begging me to move with her. am i the problem?!? should i be more tolerable of people?! (first pic is her room second is mine)

Okay, so I know how that sounds. But it’s a lot more complicated than just being “the other woman”… This happened a few years ago, but still affects my life to this day. And get some popcorn, because it’s a long one.
So backstory, at the time - I, F 18/19 had just graduated high-school and gotten my first “adult job” serving at a popular chain restaurant. This was when COVID mandates were still in place, so instead of the traditional college route, I opted for online Community College while living with my parents and siblings.
Shortly after starting this job we got a new manager, M 25/26. He was from pretty far out of town, and his placement at our location was quite a commute for him, about 45 minutes to an hour one way.
He and I were immediately close, and always got along. I admired his hard work and I wanted to learn everything I could from him. I’ll admit, I had a little crush but it was whatever, I was focused on other things like school and trying to move up in the company. He took me under his wing as what he would call his “personal project”. He said he saw potential in me and wanted to train me to be a manager. Because of his help and training, I was able to move up in the company and made great progress.
After we had gotten to know each other more from working with each-other and the mentorship, I found out he shared a daughter with who he would refer to as “Baby Mama”.
I asked him many times about her and he said they were 100% not together. He also multiple times on multiple occasion’s would say things like “oh yeah, it’s my night with my daughter” or “it’s my turn to have her” - so I assumed they weren’t even living together. And boy does it go down hill from here…
We began to see each other outside of work. Obviously, this is against many companies policies - and for good reason too. So I kept it secret. I didn’t want him to lose his job and I wanted to build a career, I didn’t want to jeopardize any of that. And at this point in the relationship I feel it’s necessary to point out for context that I was a virgin and had never done anything like that before.
A very short while into our relationship he told me he didn’t want to keep secrets from me if this was going to work, and told me that his Baby Mama was expecting again. I asked AGAIN if they were in a relationship and he told me that it was just a “heat of the moment hook up” before we had gotten together and that it was rare - but that it did happen sometimes when they were both single and looking for “convenience”.
Looking back I’m kicking myself for ever believing that shit.
So what do I do? I decide to look on social media for some guidance. I found both his AND his Baby Mama’s Facebook and Instagram pages… and for at least a year, there was NO evidence to be found of them in a relationship. No loving dating posts, no Mothers/Father’s Day posts, no birthday posts, no anniversary posts, and no status on anything that would indicate they were currently together. Both of their information on Facebook didn’t mention each other at all. No “In a relationship with _” on either of the Facebook pages. And scrolling way back on the Baby Mama’s Page, I could see that years ago when they WERE together, those classic couple posts were frequent. So, I took those clues and decided that he was telling the truth. BIG mistake.
So, as evident by the title here, we end up engaging in a relationship. After a few months, after many long discussions about how I wanted ”my first” to be with someone who loved me, our relationship became sexual. I kept it a secret, not for fear that I was the “other woman”, but because until I got the promotion of manager myself, he could lose his job. And I could lose what I was working hard to build.
He gave me no reason to think we were hiding our relationship because he was in another one… until much later down the line when it felt like too late.
This man was very emotionally abusive. And while he never put a hand on me, he often slammed doors, punched walls, screamed. Obviously, it never started that way but it was bad. Bad enough that he actually was later on forced to move locations because the General Manager did not want him in her location any longer.
We continued the relationship after he moved locations. And he was now working at the location it looked like I would be doing my Manager Training at. I had to wait until I was 21 to get the big promotion, but I had already put in a lot of leeway learning with other managers as well. I was dedicated, not only to the job, but to him as well, even with the mental and emotional abuse plus the fear of the possible physical abuse.
Things drastically changed when I noticed him being inconsistent. Since he was at a new location, I felt a little more confident in our relationship. Atleast in the fact that we could be “friends” outside of work without a lot of pushback. Now that he wasn’t directly my boss, it might still be an odd gray area, but he technically couldn’t be fired. And after pushing HARD and being confused as to why he was being weird about it…he told me he was, in fact, still dating his Baby Mama.
Obviously, I was devastated and disgusted. And I fully aknowledge I should have left him right then and there. But to be honest? I was scared. I felt confused by his actions and his words not lining up… and at 19, I was so easily fooled by him saying he loved me. Things like “I want to marry you” and “I’m going to do everything I can to make this work.” His biggest one was that he loved his kids so much he was terrified of what would happen if he left. I’ll admit I was also scared. This man terrified me with his aggression at times, but for some reason I was still in love.
A few weeks after that I found out I was pregnant. And I was terrified. When I told him he was immediately fuming and aggressive. He told me it was all my fault and I wanted to ruin his life. Not only that but what would happen to his career? My budding one I was working so hard towards? What would everyone say? A teen mistress pregnant by her boss? He threw all of these questions at me faster than I could think.
I begged to just give me time to think. That I loved this little one growing inside of me. But he told me I had better just get rid of it.
I was so afraid that I remember that I gave my sister my location and told her that if I wasn’t back by a certain time, it was because he had killed me.
With much pressure from him, I went through with a termination I did not want.
I stayed for three months afterwards. The trauma bond was painful. And with it being so secretive, I felt I had no one else to turn to mourn. No one during the most painful event of my life. And through it all, a weird fucked up part of me still loved him. So, as much as I hate admitting it… I stayed.
It took 3 months to gather my courage, break that trauma bond and leave. (Partially due to a good friend - who is now my long time boyfriend and soon to be fiance.)
It took a few months after that AND me leaving the company to talk to the BabyMama. She admitted to me that he’s done this multiple times before, has gotten another woman pregnant before her, and that he’s never really been faithful. She stayed with him and continued to have more children with him. It’s been 2 years since I’ve told her. During that time I’ve gotten many texts, drunk calls, and an odd mix of hateful messages and then apologies following them. I even had an exchange with her sister (who works at the same company) saying she herself went through a similar situation to mine of being a mistress but that “I was just jealous of BabyMama because at the end of the day her sister won” or something like that.
I guess after kid #3 she just recently left him, friended me on all social media and has wanted to talk more frequently, and she even asked for advice on leaving him. Even now, I still get odd texts here and there, a call from her when she’s drunk, etc.
I definitely am not innocent in this. I too have said things I regret, and obviously done things I regret as well. I’ve started to recently speak up on my experience to deal with some of the trauma instead of just keeping it buried. Some people say I’m just another victim of him and others insist I’m just a straight up awful person, especially because I didn’t “fight hard enough” to keep my baby and if I actually wanted to go through with the pregnancy I just should have.
I wanted to ask here because it’s easier to get a truthful answer sometimes from strangers who have no personal connection to the people being discussed. And this has consumed my life for close to 3 years now… so yeah. AITA?

I'm having a really hard time getting over my ex boyfriend. We were only technically together for a month even though I knew him as a child. The biggest problem is that I'm so obsessed with him that I can't function.
It has been three months since he dumped me and my physical symptoms have gotten worse. At first I was numb and sad but it progressed to staying in bed all day or staring at the wall. I can't even eat or sleep and am suddenly scared to go outside.
I am on high doses of antidepressants and anxiety meds and I also see a therapist once a week, but I know I should not be acting so extreme.
I literally can't think of anything but my ex or things related to him, so I tried to distract myself by joining Facebook Dating. There i met a nice guy and even talked on the phone with him thinking that it would be comforting just to hear a man's voice.
Well, now the guy wants to meet me and we have exchanged Facebooks. This was last night, and ever since, I have been having horrible pains like I've been kicked in the stomach. My chest burns and aches and I'm missing my ex more than ever and worried I will never find someone I like as much as him again.
I'm currently in my bed and only got up to feed my dog and let her out.
I have been trembling with chills even though it's a hot day.
I have had similar episodes with other obsessions but nothing this bad.
When I pushed myself to shower yesterday, it was so painful and I spent the day rocking back and forth for hours to comfort myself.
I have never heard of this kind of reaction. Can anyone relate?

A friend of mine posted the following wall of text on Facebook. I feel the need to respond somehow but I’m not sure what to say. All these years later I still fear Hell and this post bothers me on a moral level.
Should I counter with “why would a loving god do this?” Should I refute the quotes which I doubt? Should I ask why Christians seem to relish the idea of people going to Hell?

Things have been busy here so I thought I would catch up on our two latest race adventures.
It's time for another race, so I hook up to the trailer and bring it to work. The Miata has been in the enclosed trailer since I ran it through the Christmas parade, but now it is time to wake it from it's winter slumber and start preparing it for Barber, our 10th 24 Hours of Lemons race.
The car should not need much as we ran nearly flawless at the last race at Road America. We had one spin and the wing mounts broke but that was about it.
I get it to the shop and we hurry up and start in. I already have one bay tied up with the next car we are building (more on that later, it is epic) and can't afford to tie up a second during business hours. Youngest jumps in and rebuilds the entire wing assembly. Manny comes by and drives the car to his place and keeps it there until a few more parts come in. It's a block or two away from the shop, we can nearly see it from the front sidewalk. No plates, no insurance, no problem.
Next we change out the brake pads, front rotors, front brake hoses and rear pads. We also change the timing belt after a debate on exactly how many race hours the old one has. Change the oil and the car is ready to load.
Racerguy comes down and we leave out Thursday night. I am driving a little fast as the website shows the gates close at 9 and our gps says we are expected to get there at 9.01. A quick fuel stop and a brisket sandwich at Buccees off I65 in Alabama and we are rolling on through the night.
Finally we get to Barber Motorsports park in Leeds Alabama. Just before 9pm we get in line and get signed in. The team ahead of us is just realizing they lost a wheel off their enclosed sometime on their tow in. The way I was driving before we stopped for fuel I could have lost the car out the back like in the movie Cars and not noticed. Luckily everything seems to be in one piece, we give everything a check over and drop the trailer and head off to the hotel which is thankfully just across the street from the entrance to the track.
The next morning we are up early. No Gill this race as he has had foot surgery and is out of commission, which means we are sorely missing his cooking skills. So we take advantage of the breakfast at the hotel and head over to the track. After we unload the car we have a discussion which ends with us moving across the paddock to the far side as the side we have had for the last few years is shorter and we can't park the trailer in that area as the new trailer is about ten foot longer than the old open trailer.
After the first of two drivers meetings of the weekend (many tracks do the practice day and hold their own drivers meeting to explain their own rules, then the next day Lemons runs the race and has their drivers meeting) we load a driver in the car and send him out to practice. Rinse and repeat until we have sent all the drivers out for a few laps.
By then it is time for inspections. First off all the tech inspection. They have a big crew this race but our favorite inspector Dale Strimple is there. He's knowledgeable, affable and very popular among all the racers. Every day is also his birthday, a story best told later. He and the other tech people soon pass our car then it's time for BS tech.
We have gone all out this race for our theme. This has been a long time thought of mine, it just took a while to get it enacted. So for context I am a cancer survivor and we are always doing crazy themes to try and draw attention to the importance of early detection in cancer improving your chances. In the past we have done free colonscopy tests with huge antique cameras and motor oil for props which thankfully no one took us up on. Later we have done dinosaurs with the inflatable dino costumes to bring home the point that that "dinosaurs never got checked and now they are extinct" which is also on the side of the car. It was popular, I mean who doesn't like to see a inflatable dinosaur walking around?
Today we have again upped our game. We are taking a scene from one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, Johnny Dangerously. There's a part where Micheal Keaton's character is counseling his younger brother not to have sex until he is married, which is funny in itself because Micheals character is always surrounded by a crowd of ladies who apparently are all competing for his affections. Anyhow he shows his brother this video of all these poor guys who are suffering from poor choices that have caused them to have severely enlarged testicles. Like basketball sized. Watch it sometime, it's hilarious. So we made up special pants to hold some dodgeballs and shirts that said: "mens health is no joke, get checked before you croak!" We got a lot of attention for that and even made the wrap video. Walking in those pants with the dodgeballs was not easy!
The next day it's race day. It could not be a nicer day in Alabama. Temps are great, sun is shining. We get through the drivers meeting and line up the cars. Racerguy is going first, we are trying to balance our drivers so that everyone gets one start or one finish for the weekend. It's fun to finish the race or the day and fun to start as well.
The flag drops and we are off. It was a complete fiasco at the start! Someone oiled down half the track on the pace laps and the track was not ready when they dropped the green. It was an immediate yellow but cars where stacking up and passing then realizing the yellow was out. Race control messed up that one pretty badly. It took another ten minutes to clean the track. Finally it really is time for a start and we go green for real. Racerguy is driving smooth as always and moving up. He brings the car from 87th out of 131 cars there to a respectable 39th when the first incident happens. A car spins and hits our rf wheel. Racerguy didn't think much of it but they flagged him in anyway. While in the penalty box we realize the rf is going flat. I did not see it then but by the time we get the car up to our spot in the paddock the wheel is destroyed. We slap another wheel on and send him back out. We lost nearly all the spots we gained, dropping to 78th on the board. Sucks but it happens.
The rest of his stint goes great and he brings the car back to pit road and we put in Youngest. He is running great and the car is showing no signs of any issues from the earlier contact. He starts making up ground and we get all the way up to 54th. Then I get a radio call. "The car is on fire and stopped running!"
What?!!! I radio back asking if he needs to get out of the car. "I'm trying to decide that" Ok, maybe not such a big fire then? We have to wait for more information and in a few minutes the rollback shows up with him in the car. We have had a wiring fire from the passenger side floorboard where the stock PCM harness is. I immediately think the car is done but after Youngest gets some fresh air he jumps in and cuts all the burnt wires out and patches it all up. Start to finish we are off the track an hour and a half and drop to 90th.
I suit up and take the car out to see if it will run or not. It struggles and will only get up to 45, so I bring it right back in. Youngest thinks he knows exactly what is wrong and jumps in again and patches one more wire. I go out and the car is spot on. I start clicking off laps and trying some things the guys said to do to improve on my lap times. There's a few parts where I just need to be more aggressive and roll through and trust the car more. I pick up about four seconds off my best time and am pretty pleased by that. The car runs flawless for the rest of my stint and I bring it back to pit road for the crew to fuel and driver change. We put Manny in the car and send him out. He's running some fast laps and really pushing the car. All the sudden we realize we do not see the car going by. One of the other teams say our car is in the wall on the front stretch. Manny comes over the radio "I FUBAR'ed it" Great, The front stretch at Barber is one of the places I have noted will bite you pretty hard. I have seen a few Lemons cars get really messed up there including a 63 Valiant last year. I am expecting the worst when the roll back comes by with the car for the second time this day.
It's pretty bad. The nose is knocked sideways, the steering is all out of sorts, a closer look reveals the lf tie rod is broken. The right rear is all messed up, the wheel is pushed so far forward it is into the quarter panel and won't even turn. We put the car up on jack stands and look it over. Not good. But there's glimmers of hope. The radiator is not broke. The engine is still fine. The core of the car seems square. And we have almost an entire Miata in parts in totes in our trailer. Maybe we can fix this. I start dragging out parts and we start changing them. The tie rod on the front is soon changed and we now have both wheels pointing the same direction. Youngest takes the nose off and straightens the brackets that hold it and the splitter in place and adds a whole lot of zip ties.
On the rear it just keeps going and going deeper. We change the knuckle, the lower control arm and the upper. We spend a long time saving the bolt that goes through the lower control arm and knuckle, we do not have another. This one is bent and has questionable threads too. In true lemons never say die fashion we beat it out of the bent parts, straighten it and when we cannot find the correct die to chase the threads we use one that is close and pray it works. It does, but then we get it all back together and realize even with all the parts replaced we still have two inches of rear toe. Just a wee more than the 1/16th we started with.
Turns out the rear subframe is bent, so we all go out and start walking the pits looking to borrow a port a power. This small hydraulic jack comes with rams and other attachments and has a pump attached to a hose so you can jack and bend parts that are bent like ours. We actually end up borrowing two after searching almost every team that is still around. It's getting dark, rain is moving in after midnight and the clock is ticking on the car being done. Is it fixable or is the damage terminal? There are three guys under the car jacking and measuring and I am handing them parts and tools and making a run for food.
In a dramatic fashion, they pull it out. I run for food and they finally announce the car is perfect. I think they worked until nearly midnight, but everything they measured was on the money. It was an amazing effort and a huge comeback. We all fall into an exhausted sleep wondering if the car will drive good tomorrow or did we miss something important.
The next morning dawns and as expected its raining. And colder. I cannot emphasize enough just how wet and cold it was. All day long it rained and I think the temps dropped. Made for a miserable day, pretty sure even a duck would have been unhappy.
I go out first, I had called this stint early on. Sometimes you have to pull the car owner card. It's a two hour stint then a quiet hour then the race resumes.
We gas up the car and I line up. The car seems to drive straight, but it is raining and the track is slippery so who really knows? The car stumbles a bit on accel and I wonder if we outsmarted ourselves with our home made ram air system that sucks air from right below where the left headlight was. It keeps on doing that for a few laps then finally gets better.
Driving in the rain is not without it's challenges. You have to drive very carefully and not push the car too hard. The fun part is the Miata goes straight when you floor it so anytime I get a chance I gas it up and go hard to the next corner where I slow down and ease through it. Soon enough another issue arises. The windshield starts fogging up. It gets real bad on yellow flags where we all slow down then gets better if I have a good run at speed, but there are times a smart person would have pulled off as you cannot see much at all. But most of us aren't real smart. I can't reach the windshield or I would try to wipe it. The temptation is there to loosen the belts and get enough room to reach but even I am not that crazy. I keep the belts tight but do take off one glove and give it a few swipes under a long yellow then hasten to put the gloves back on. There's probably not much chance of a fire in these conditions but no sense chancing it. I've seen pictures of burns from race car incidents and they aren't pretty.
On one corner I make a mistake, I get off line to let a really aggressive car go by. It's the Party Girl car and they are hyper aggressive. If you would think they would wait to pass until you get through a critical part you'd be wrong, they typically will jam their car in wherever they can and go on. Other fast cars are a bit more respectful and do a better job on the give and take. Not wanting to make an issue, I get over and promptly realize there is zero grip outside on this corner and slide through the grass. I go to penalty and explain what happened. The judge asks if I learned anything, I said "Yes, next time to be a jerk" I might not have used that exact wording but I meant it. The same car also was what indirectly caused the wreck the day before, their aggressive driving was what caused Manny to get the red mist when they did the same thing passing him. He over drove the car after that and lost it. Mental note to drive them the same way going forward, we both can be hyper aggressive and see where that leads. We have a few more cars to build in the driveway if need be.
After my two hours are up, I bring the car in and explain about the terrible fogging and vision issue. Manny goes out after the quiet hour and slides off the track for black flag number two. It's just very nasty out there and cars are going off all the time. We fix up a ice scraper with a rag tied to it to give the driver a method of clearing the fog. It's primative but way better than nothing. The drivers report they used it quite a bit the rest of the day. It's just gloomy and the race is going on, but cars are hydroplaning if they get into the water which is starting to pool on parts of the track. The rest of us are watching from inside Manny's car with the heat on, it's gotten that cold and wet.
We are so far behind now we aren't bothering to suit up and go to pit lane. Rather we bring the car up to the pumps, get the driver out and fuel and put the next driver in. It's still raining and not having to get anymore wet than necessary is a plus. Racerguy gets flagged in after he's run about half his stint and he has no idea why. Apparently the cameras show what they thought was contact in the corner, he says he got real close and braked hard to avoid it. The car shows no new signs of contact. The judge tells us one more flag and he's parking us for the rest of the day. Over contact that someone thought they saw on camera that apparently never happened. (I went to look this up on our go pro footage but the chip glitched and we had no footage)
Racerguy goes out and finishes. He reports the same as Manny, the track is getting increasingly treacherous. Very few cars are getting around good, if you have a front wheel drive with skinny tires, today was your day. I saw a escort wagon running laps as fast as us and later the Dodge Caravan passed us.
Youngest goes out and after about 15 minutes I notice the lap counter is not updating. I look outside the trailer and he is in the car, sitting there. We go out and he announces he cannot drive the car anymore, it's sideways all the time. I ask if he wants to load the car and he said yes. I don't object. We race for the fun of it, and at that point none of us were having fun. We loaded in the rain and left before the race was over. Many other teams had already done the same. Some were gone before the day ever started. We have raced in the rain before but this was the worst conditions I have ever seen on the track. Barber is a top notch facility, it was just such a lingering rain and the temps being below 40 made it miserable. The vision and grip levels seemingly got worse as the day went on and the water built up and the temps dropped. We saw a lot of big problems and overcame many. Probably if we were not so exhausted from fixing the car and were in the hunt for anything we might have stayed until the end. As it were, we dropped from 65th to 67th or so. Time to rebuild and get dried out and ready for the next race.

I’m a n00b. I don’t know what atv I am buying yet. Something used for under 5k that would be fun for some Colorado trails. Most likely will buy on Facebook marketplace.
Anyways. I need a trailer. Is 4x6 too small? 4x8 is what I was leaning toward. Thoughts? Probably throw some camping gear on the trailer as well. Hoping I can stand it up and secure it to the garage wall.

My husband asked me at 11:30 at night last night if he was supposed to have gotten me something, so I already knew I was in for a long day. I told him yes, it would have been nice for him to get me something, considering our child is 2 and doesn’t really understand what Mother’s Day is. He said okay, let’s go out to dinner. I initially agreed. I personally don’t think that going out anywhere with a toddler is particularly fun, but that is just my take.
He also booked a job - with my permission, since he was stressed about money when it initially came up - so he was gone from 7am to almost 3pm.
Needless to say….
I did not receive anything. I thought maybe he’d come home with something, or he’d maybe get a card, but no. He said he was going to make a post on Facebook, but he realized he didn’t have any recent photos of me because he does not bother to take them (this is a sore spot - if I died tomorrow there would be almost zero photos of me with my son that aren’t selfies. I have asked him. It’s a problem). I said, “yeah, I know, you don’t take them so they don’t exist,” and then walked away and went outside.
A minute later I check Facebook, and he’s made the stupid post. Except he doesn’t have any recent photos, so he swiped some selfies from my social media and included a god-awful photo from our Ring camera. I did not think my self-esteem could go lower. I stormed inside and made him delete the stupid fucking Ring camera picture.
He’s a great dad. He’s a thoughtless partner.
I cried to a mom friend of mine and 20 minutes later there were cookies on my doorstep.
When it came time for dinner, I told him I didn’t want to go and to please just take our LO to go get food.
I am tired and sad.
And the funniest part of all of this is my MIL came over around 9 with a bouquet of local wildflowers that she picked. For me. For Mother’s Day. WHAT THE FUCK HOW IS SHE SO THOUGHTFUL AND HE IS SO NOT UGH.
