Reinventing yourself
So if you know me or follow me you know my story. I am far from shy about telling it as I hope it helps others. I was a drug addict and back in the day, I used to drink and get high with a good friend from high school.
We lost touch after high school, fast forward 35 years, and we both have had lots of hard times. We reconnected through Facebook.We started talking about our missing years. She told me she also fell deep into drug addiction but way farther than I did. She fell so far as to do unspeakable things for drugs, and she will be quick to tell you her story. After quite a few times of trying to get clean and relapsing. After losing her parents, getting cancer and taking care of her significant other through her cancer, and then having to bury her. After her struggles with food that replaced her drug addiction, she has come to a place of peace.
She is an amazing artist, and this weekend, she finally had her first gallery opening showcasing her art. Something she had let go of through her addiction. This is a full circle moment for her, and I couldn't be prouder.
I know from hours of speaking to her how much it took her to get here. To overcome her addiction to drugs and then to food. To work on her inner self to let go and learn to forgive herself and then others. To learn boundaries that keep her on this path. To come to a place that is hers with no apology for who she is or what she's done because she already made amends with everyone and everything.

For anyone who isn't an Irish Times subscriber, basically there is a large collection of art and documents on the Famine in storage in a university in Connecticut.

Alongside its archival collections of contemporary manuscripts, prints, letters and news reports, it brought together important paintings and installations by, among others, Jack B Yeats, Rowan Gillespie, Margaret Allen, Erskine Nicol, Alanna O’Kelly, William Crozier, Brian Maguire, John Behan, Hughie O’Donoghue, Michael Farrell, Geraldine O’Reilly, Dorothy Cross, Robert Ballagh, Grace Henry, Pádraic Reaney, Meg Chamberlain and James Arthur O’Connor.

These items have intrinsic value due to the artists (some Irish greats in that list!) but also due to their subject matter and the fact that they are all collected together. From what the article says the collection is now in storage without being professionally preserved.
I think we should get this collection home, and find a home for it - the question is where? In a new museum? The current National Famine Museum in Strokestown? The National Gallery? The National Museum (whichever site)?

Well, hello! I'm just a silly little queer on a journey to self-discovery, learning how to live my best life, and looking for some company along the way. Here is what I'm looking like these days. I have officially hit that point in my life where time seems to be just completely slipping through my fingers, and so I am very focused on truly living each day to the fullest extent of my abilities, for the first time in a very long while (maybe ever). I'd love to meet some more folks who are in a similar place in their daily lives. For me, this means an emphasis on healing, hobbies, and healthy connections and approaching the choices, chances, and changes I make each day from a place of curiosity and wonder.
Healing is a priority of the highest order for me. I believe that as adults we all have wounds that, through healing, we can learn and grow from, in order to be the best versions of ourselves. We are all works in progress, and no matter how young or old, none of us are ever really "done" growing. I am learning how to hold space for my younger self, without judgement or shame coloring my perception of my past actions and choices. I'd love to hear about how you are practicing growth, what therapy modalities have worked best for you (IFS changed my life!), and/or your short and long term goals for this area of your life.
Hobbies have made a world of difference in how I balance my days. At the peak of my depression/mental illness, my entire life revolved around work and my children - I had no identity outside of ~Customer Service Cutie~ and ~Mom~. Last year I took the leap to join a local gay women's chorus and I am not kidding you, it was the best decision I made for myself in my adult life. This has opened up doors to other hobbies I didn't know I was interested in, like painting and kickball. Tell me about your hobbies, and what activities make you smile, and breathe life into your days!
Healthy connections are where you come in! Hooray - if you made it this far, you are a TROOPER and I appreciate you taking the time. I'm really not looking for anything in particular, but you should know that I am super duper non-monogamous, and have been for 12 years now - I'd love to tell you all about it! I would love to go out on cute dates (I have always been the planner, so it would be a really cool change if someone wanted to take me out) or connect over zoom or whatever digital platform works best for you. It's been an embarrassingly long time since I've sent or received a good morning text, or felt the flutters in my stomach when I see someone's name pop up throughout the day. I guess I'm just looking for chemistry, in whatever form that takes.

I am down 110lbs sonce Dec 1st. I am feeling good but still self conscious of my man boobs. Any tips or advice ? Thinking I need to focus on upper body weight lifting exercises and push up.
What are my best bets for targeting the upper body? Dumbell flys? Bench?

Just wanted to drop a link to She Who Thirsts and the current article covering the leaks and hot takes for EC
The leaks have done their rounds well and truly by now, but this is with a focus on the Emperor's Children.
Which detachments looks to be the most powerful, which fit our theme and what likely units will be key in those detachments, and which are likely to make it over to an eventual Emperor's Children codex.
Putting all those together to suggest which is the best fit for our faction and coming Index.

Self promotion is a bit crass I know but thought She Who Thirsts would be of interest some folks here.
It's a Emperor's Children dedicated site aiming to focus on long form articles and analysis for the Faction across News, Tactics, Lore & the Hobby and provides EC focused links and resources in a single place.
Starting now to move out of soft launch and share more widely as the initial content is fleshed out. The site have articles covering the rumours and the Codex release date, a deep analysis of likely units, some community spotlights and discussion forums / media gallery (as well as affiliate links to the EC Reddit and discord)
Next up will be a deep dive into potential detachments and rules for the eventual Codex.

Hello, I am new to HTMX, I am using it in a Django project, in which I have a ListView that has pagination. The pagination works well with HTMX, but I have a problem when the queryset is filtered by the query variable sent from the html. When pressing the Submit button, it correctly returns the filtered list, and I can see the correct number of pages, but when changing to the second page this filter is lost, that is, it returns the complete object_list to me. Can someone help me understand what I am doing wrong?

The idea for this post came up in this thread by u/wiz to avoid the number of similar questions we get around here and to serve as a megathread for any/all questions of a similar nature. I will collate any and all valuable information by other users and update this thread as we go. Seasoned users please pitch in with anything that should be included.

The .COM vs .ORG issue

This one is probably the single most asked question in this sub. Why can’t I do x,y,z?, Why do I have to pay more to install a plugin or edit a theme? Etc.etc. There are literally 100’s of threads about this. If you want more info please search the sub for wordpress.com or read this thread by u/summerchilde
To summarise: Wordpress is free, open source software which can be found at wordpress.org.
Think of wordpress.com as a host that is using .org’s software and has various functionality locked behind pricing tiers.
What you want to do is get your own cheaper hosting and self install and manage wordpress so you don’t have any restrictions at base software level.

Hosting - Where should I host?

The next big question is who is a good host? This is better suited for webhosting.
Having said that, there are plenty of different hosts to choose from. Shared web hosting is the cheapest but comes with the caveat that performance is shared with others on your same server. Dedicated, VPS and Cloud solutions are faster but more expensive.
The thing to remember here is performance is directly tied to price and you get what you pay for.
The most recommended hosts around here that I’ve seen are Digital Ocean, Cloudways and Siteground. Again, for specific hosting questions you will get better support at webhosting

Performance - Why is my site slow / Pagespeed score apalliang?

#1 Hosting

Most of the time it's just bad hosting. As mentioned earlier, cheap shared hosting is notorious for bad performance. If your host is slow then nothing else will matter much, so this is your first port of call.

#2 Properly optimise images

This is a relatively simple one. Don’t use images that are 6000 x 4000px. Figure out the max display size for your use case and resize.
Secondly ditch PNG and JPG and use WEBP. The recommendation is to convert before you upload. Most image editors will let you save in webp and 75-80% compression works well for a balance.
To bulk convert, use XnConvert or Photoshop Batch process.
For existing media you can use a plugin. There are many Smush, Optimole etc. Converter For Media is a free option.
Some servers like Siteground and/or other optimisation plugins may have this feature inbuilt so always check so you don’t end up doubling up.
Since 6.3, Wordpress can also convert to WEBP on upload. You can use the Performance Lab plugin by the wordpress team themselves to manage this.
If, like me, you don’t want your server getting clogged up with multiple image types and you only want to have the WEBP files OR you don’t want to use a plugin use this snippet.

#3 Lazy load

Lazy loading images, videos and iframes will speed up things significantly. Some themes/page builders will have this by default. Some hosts and caching plugins like WP Rocket will also have this option.
Alternatively use a plugin such as Lazy Load by WP Rocket or A3 Lazy Load for more control.

#4 Caching, CDNs. Minification Etc.

You should be using caching on your website if you care about performance.
WARNING: Using minification and/or combining files and scripts can cause your website to break so always test, test and test again!
There are many, many free and paid plugins for this. Some hosts will have their own caching plugin, this should be preferred over others. If you have a Litespeed enabled server use Litespeed.
The general recommendation here is to use Cloudflare free with Super Page Cache For CF. Here is a guide on how to set up your domain, after that follow the plugin instructions.
Common question #1: Should I keep my hosts caching on with CF? Yes. Your server is the origin server and having your own files cached means it is less taxing on your server resources and CF fetches files faster.
Common Question #2: I’m getting an SSL error or redirect loop. Make sure you have a valid SSL certificate server on your server and make sure to set Cloudflare > SSL/TLS > Overview to Full (strict).
Cloudflare also has its own minification settings under : Speed > Optimisation.
Other popular recommended options:

• WP Rocket (Subscription)
• Perfmatters (Subscription)
• Autoptimize (Free)

Advanced optimisation

If you really want to get under the hood and squeeze every last bit out of your setup then:

• Use a plugin like Debloat for a quick clean up.
• Use Asset Clean Up to go through each page and disable unused crap. (Time consuming but potentially massive gains).
• Use Query Monitor to inspect what is going on under the hood and find unnecessary scripts etc.

Building Your Wordpress Site: Is X builder better than Y? What is the best theme? Etc.

There are many conflicting opinions on this because there is no one way to do things on Wordpress. Each camp will tell you the other one is inferior and purists dislike all of them.
You can build your site with:

• A page builder : Bricks, Elementor, Divi etc.
• Using prebuilt themes. Each theme will have its own settings that’s exclusive to it.
• A completely custom coded setup, written with a combination of html, css and php using Wordpress actions, filters and hooks.

My two cents on the matter: Budget, experience and skill all come into play here. Thus, what works for you to achieve your end goal is the best.

• If you like a WYSIWYG approach then page builders will more likely be your thing. Play around with the demos, watch some tutorials and if one of them looks more likely to work for you, then take it for a spin.
• The Twenty Twenty Four theme along with the block builder is a solid place to start. There are many tutorials on how to get started with 2024 including the official Wordpress documentation.
• A CSS editor such as Yellow Pencil or Microthemer will assist you to fix a lot of front end annoyances and supplements any workflow.

Updates

Stay up to date with all plugins and core software at all times if you don’t want to have security holes and get hacked.

Backups

• Make a backup whenever you make a change at the very least.
• Get a host that does daily backups.
• You will cry if you don’t have a backup.

Recommend backup plugins:

• UpdraftPlus: schedule for daily, weekly or monthly. Send backups to remote servers (AWS S3, Dropbox, Google Drive).

Security

• Keep everything up to date at all times.
• Run updates at least once a month. Fortnightly is better. More frequently is better
• Use plugins and themes that are well supported, frequently updated, high install counts, well ranked, well established.
• Use Wordfence - it’ll alert you when any plugins that you’re using have a known vulnerability or haven’t been updated (by the developer) for 2 or more years. It will also protect you from known attack vectors for vulnerable plugins (for the free version, this protection is only available after the vulnerability is 30 days old, but there’s nothing stopping you updating your plugins, assuming a patch is available).
• Don’t use hosting where multiple sites sit in the one account (common on shared hosting). Each website should have its own owner.

Hacks/Malware: Err guys help, there’s some weird stuff on my front end.

Congratulations you got hacked. Most of us have dealt with this in one way or another at some point so you aren’t alone.
Do you have a backup?

• Easy, wipe everything and restore.
• Run a scan with Wordfence or GOTMLS to be doubly sure you are clean.
• Harden your security to avoid repeat issues.

No backup? (Get the tissues)

• Install [Wordfence] and scan (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/).
• Alternatively my first port of call for this has always been GOTMLS. Update definitions and run a root scan the plugin should find any code that shouldn’t be there and you should be good to go.

Where to find plugins/add feature X?

The Wordpress plugin repository should be your first stop. You can access this library via your Dashboard > Plugins > Add New Plugin
Codecanyon is a decent marketplace to get premium plugins for a one off buy without ongoing subscription costs.
For code snippets and help with your own code StackOverflow or prowordpress is your best bet.
Warning: Remember to always double check the source and reputability of a source before installing third-party plugins and/or scripts.

I found a plugin that costs $50 for $5 on a “GPLDL” source, is it safe to use?

The simple answer here is NO. No you shouldn’t and that should be the end of that.
But alas, we still have many more questions:

• Will the plugin still work? Probably.
• Are there any guarantees that it will work and demo content will be provided? Absolutely not.
• Will there be links to turn one’s junk into a cyborg on my site? Most likely.
• Will Google blacklist you? If you have malware. Most definitely.
• Will your host shut you down? If detected, any reputable one will.
• Is rebuilding an entire site and losing the trust of your audience worth all this? Not to me, but only you can answer this for yourself.

Bear with me lang kasi napakahaba nito. Haha. Parang entire relationship namin iku-kwento ko na. I just need to let it all out.
I (26, F) just recently ended my relationship with my boyfriend (29).
Backstory lang -- nagpursigi talaga siyang ligawan ako kahit na ilang beses ko siyang inayawan nung una. Eventually, I fell for him. There's just something about him that was very charming and endearing. In this case din, totoo yung 'he fell first, but she fell harder'. Lol.
Nung una okay naman kami. Like any other normal relationship, may mga away but we always fix things. Usually, the fights were caused (directly or indirectly) by his strong personality. He's egoistic and admittedly, mayabang. Masyadong mataas ang tingin sa sarili. Sure, he did have redeeming qualities pero we weren't really compatible given na I'm the meek and unassuming type of person naman. Still, I accepted those not-so-good traits. Wala, mahal ko na eh. I also always tell myself na despite my imperfections, he still loved and accepted me. Kumbaga, I'm seeing him through rose-colored glasses 'di ko napansing sobrang red flag na pala niya. Haha.
So, our problems started a few months into the relationship. I didn't know or noticed before, pero sobrang alcoholic nya to the point na inuumaga na ng uwi. Wala naman siyang maoy or what and it seemed like mataas lang talaga alcohol tolerance niya so parang 'di nalalasing, so at first, pinagbibigyan ko lang. Sabi nya, yun nalang naman daw ang pahinga nya at enjoyment. So kahit naiinis ako, eventually I got used to letting him be. And there he went, abusing the freedom and leniency I gave him.
Nagsimula yung 'di na siya naga-update 'pag nasa inuman siya with workmates. Nagpapaalam, oo. Alam niyang papayagan ko siya eh. Pero simpleng updates man lang kung ano nang ginagawa niya a few hours after niya magpaalam, or kung pauwi na ba siya, 'di niya kusang gagawin hanggang 'di ko kukulitin. And 'pag dumating na yung point na naiiinis na 'ko sa pinaggagawa niya, ako pa yung masama at di nakakaintindi. Gaslighter amp.
There's this one time na galing siya sa isang event somewhere outside Metro Manila nang isang weekend. He promised na after ng event, he'll visit sa bahay para naman makasama ko siya. I suggested it because I missed him and weekends was the only time we get to spend time together. I have always valued it. So dumating ang 9 pm, 10 pm. Ni ha, ni ho wala. I was crying when he finally picked up my call. Turns out, sa barkada pala dumiretso. Setting my pride aside, I begged him to just stay the night at our house (he sometimes did with my parents' permission). He promised again na he'll do just that so I would stop crying. Still, he broke that promise. Dumating ang 12 am, tinawagan ko yung barkada at yun nga, natulog na lang ang lolo niyo dun. This was probably where all the disrespect started. Pero dahil tanga ako, pinatawad ko at nagpatuloy pa rin ang relationship namin.
A few days naman into our anniversary, we had the biggest fight. Eto talaga 'di ko makakalimutan. So, I started getting jealous of this one girl na he was constantly stalking online. Mestiza si girlie, maganda at sexy. Typical tiktokerist na medyo sikat online, ganun. I didn't want to confront him about it kasi I don't wanna come off as insecure (even though I was feeling that way na deep inside). I'm not unattractive in any way, pero nakakababa naman talaga ng self-confidence yung ganun. So with that in mind, I admittedly started being paranoid 'pag lumalabas na naman siya with friends, especially 'pag may babaeng kasama.
At eto na nga, he was out drinking and I was pestering him with calls kasi 'di na naman macontact. When he finally answered, I heard typical bar noises but what really stood out was a female voice beside him at dun na nagpanting 'yung tenga ko. He ended the call na siya pa 'yung annoyed while there I was, feeling sick to my stomach. I wasn't thinking straight and decided to go where he was. Nag-book ako ng ride against my mom's will dahil gabing-gabi na. Pero I didn't care dahil gusto ko siyang puntahan. I sent him a message na I'll come pick him up para sa bahay nalang siya matulog. Silly me, pagdating ko dun sa bar, wala na sila nung mga kasama niya. Tried calling him a few times, no answer. So I ended up crying alone in 7-eleven like the idiot I was. Lol.
And didn't I say na biggest fight? Kasi it turns out, my mom intervened this time. Seeing me do stupid things and cry my eyes out for this person must have really struck a nerve as a mother. She sent a lengthy message to him, with all the hurtful and insulting things she could probably think of. Natural, nagalit si ex. I woke up seeing his message with a screenshot of my mom's chat and to him being furious and not wanting to talk to me. Despite what he has done the other night, I was the one apologizing. I panicked and went to his house, wanting to reconcile. What shocked me was, he suddenly wanted to end things. I was desperately sobbing, begging him not to leave me. I haven't cried that much my entire life. Stupidly, I even called my mom and asked her to apologize for the things she said. (Looking back, I was really such an asshole to my mom who was only looking out for me). Ang ending, we patched things up. Even celebrated our anniversary. Things we're starting getting back to normal. Or so I thought.
November 2023, he went out drinking again with a friend. Now, I didn't really like this friend of his because he just screams trouble. But because of everything that went down the past few months which almost ruined our relationship, by this time, I already learned to be more compromising and chillax lang sa relationship namin. So I obliged. I woke up at 3 am, no updates. I just had this feeling na something was very wrong. I started getting worried and tried videocalling him numerous times, no answer. A few minutes later, he called (not vc, audio lang), saying na nasa bahay na daw siya at natutulog na. Hindi ako naniwala and tried vc-ing him some more. Nung nakulitan sa'kin, saka lang umaming nasa labas parin kasama netong friend niya. He lied daw para 'di na ko mag-worry at matulog na ulit. 'Di naman daw siya gagawa ng kalokohan. I was so mad but decided to let him be. I have work that day and again, I don't wanna be the overthinkeparanoid type of girlfriend anymore.
The next day, 'di siya nagmessage maghapon. 'Di rin ako kumain maghapon. Nagchat lang siya para magpaalam nalang ulit na a-attend ng birthday party. Tuluyan na 'kong nawalan ng gana all the way through dinner. At dahil dun, I fainted and had to be rushed sa ospital. That's the only time he decided to show up. I don't know if it's out of love or guilt lang talaga, pero he stayed by my side and everything was okay again for a while.
December 2023, few days before Christmas. We were spending time together sa room nya. Nung nakatulog siya, I started getting this nagging urge to check his phone. We knew each other's phone's passwords and at first puro okay lang naman yung mga nakikita ko. Until I stumbled upon this private folder sa gallery niya. There were several files. I just knew I had to see it. With some luck and divine intervention na rin siguro (thank you Lord), I successfully opened the folder. At 'di ko kinaya yung mga nakita ko. Parang gumuho 'yung mundo ko that time and my mind just went blank. In that folder, there were sex videos of him and a woman I don't recognize. Nanginginig yung buong katawan ko at 'di ko na nagawang tapusin lahat ng recordings. Pinaghahampas ko siya habang tulog at pinakita yung nadiscover ko. Dahil wala na siyang lusot, inamin niya lahat. And again dito na naman papasok yung drinking problem niya. Lasing daw siya at 'di niya na alam yung ginagawa niya. Nakilala niya lang daw itong random girl na 'to and they hit it off. Nagbook pa sila ng motel. He said na one night stand lang yun, it doesn't mean anything and walang affection dun. I was having none of it. What's worse was that it happened the same night he went out with that friend and the day before ako na-hospitalize. All this time na inaalagaan niya ko, may tinatago na pala siyang kalokohan.
I thought of leaving his house and coming home, pero I was worried of how my mom would react if she finds out. The I-told-you-so's would have added salt to the wound. So again stupidly, I stayed. I cried my eyes out alone in his room while he went out dahil alam niya daw ayaw ko siyang makita. Lol, damn right. I was in such a bad shape physically, emotionally and mentally and had no one else to talk to. Then, I thought of opening up to this friend/workmate of mine who also knew him and his tendencies. Note that my then boyfriend hated this guy's guts for some reason. I've come to realize, maybe because they're complete opposites in terms of values and principles.
Like any person with common sense, this friend advised na I should think of myself first and with how my then boyfriend is causing me so much pain, I should assess our relationship. That I should think carefully and decide what's right for me. What's frustrating is, looking back to how many times this friend told me to always think of what's best for me, I still went back to my ex again and again. Konting suyo, bibigay agad. I just can't stay mad at him for too long. Nakakatanga nga talaga ang pagmamahal.
January 2024 came and we were still together. I wanted a fresh start and leave all the worst things that happened behind. We decided to finally live together, and again this caused conflict between us and my mom. But I knew deep in my heart that this was all that we needed to keep our relationship from falling apart. Boy, I was so wrong.
The first few months, I was genuinely happy. We still have our fights here and there, but otherwise everything was smooth-sailing. He was still his old alcholic self too, but at least he wasn't being unfaithful. Again, akala ko na naman yun.
Firstly, nakikipagkwentuhan siya sa IG dun sa isang workmate na kilala ko lang sa mukha. Now, I'm not against him having female friends and I even knew some personally and have good relationship with them. Pero this one's just different. With the way their conversation was going, I knew there was something wrong. Too personal and minsan ako pa yung topic. I was uncomfortable with what's happening na kahit wala pa namang ginagawa yung girl, naiirita ako pag nakikita ko siya (for context, we have common friends so we saw each other a few times). When I finally confronted him about it, itinigil naman nya. I thought that was the end of it.
But here comes the hellish final weeks. The first time was nung nahuli ko na naman siyang ini-stalk yung dati niyang kinukursunada (remember the mestiza girl?). He would again say na wala lang yun, lasing lang siya kaya niya sini-search sa socials. Or yung friend niyang may gusto dun yung nang i-stalk gamit yung account niya.
At eto na nga yung di ko kinaya. One day last March, I went home around 11 pm to see him sleeping but almost naked with his private part sticking out of his underwear, with you-know-what spilling out. Obviously, he did that thing men do when they're alone and horny. It was so sick and I was so hurt. I wondered who he was thinking of while doing that. I was so dumbfounded with what he said too when I woke him up. Lalaki pa rin naman daw siya. Like wtf. Ang masakit pa, before ako umuwi, he asked for food kasi di pa daw siya kumakain. Ako naman 'tong si tangang excited bilhan siya ng kini-crave niya na food dahil alam kong matutuwa siya. Ako naman ang kini-crave, appreciation. Nagkanda-dapa dapa pa ko on the way home. Haha. I was feeling so helpless at this point I couldn't do anything but to just cry alone sa CR. Haaay.
One day naman, one of his friends/workmate came over and nag-inom sila until they drop. Imagine the shame and disrespect I felt when he made that guy sleep in the very same room we shared together. I just couldn't take the humiliation he's putting me through and the absurdity of the situation, so I told him I wanted to go home. He just wouldn't understand na babae ako at kahit siguro sino 'di magiging komportable sa ganun. But he wasn't budging and told me to just sleep. Then he just had to ask this question: 'Gusto mo bang makatikim ng ibang lalake?'. I just snapped. Nanginginig buong katawan ko sa galit and I went out. I just had to get out of there. Mukha akong tangang umiiyak in my pajamas pa sa labas ng bahay but I didn't care anymore.
I didn't know sinundan niya ako at nakita niya kong nagbubook ng ride. Inagaw niya yung phone ko and told me he'll just take me home. Pero tapos na daw kami pag umuwi ako. Admittedly, naduwag ako. At that time, I still love him very much. Being my indecisive self, we just sat there by the road, arguing. Me sobbing uncontrollably, him telling me na bakit daw ba ako nakikipag-close dun sa friend/workmate ko (the one who I open up our problems to). At my friend was the reason pala kung bakit tinanong niya yung kadiring tanong na 'yun sakin (kung 'gusto ko daw ba makatikim ng ibang lalake'). I kept reassuring him na he's just a friend, pero all he did was throw insults at this person. Para kaming tangang dalawang nakalupasay sa kalsada sa harap ng bahay nila. In the end, I just decided to stay and sleep no matter how uncomfortable and disgusted I felt. I was so drained and numb.
The final straw was this one time na hindi na naman niya sinasagot yung mga tawag ko after his shift ended. Nung ako na yung nag-out from work (I work 'til late night), I saw that my messages were still left on delivered. De javu, I thought. Tried calling him a few times, 'di pa rin sinagot. I'm halfway home nung nag-chat na siya, saying he was at home the whole time, nag-iinom with workmates. I can smell his bullshit from miles away. Tried confirming sa mga kasama namin sa bahay while nasa byahe ako, at tama nga yung hinala ko, kakauwi palang niya. Once at home, nakita ko na siyang tulog. I checked his phone. At dahil pinalaki ako ni Detective Conan, nalaman ko kung saan talaga siya galing. Sa isang condo. Wala akong ibang kilalang may condo unit kundi yung kinalolokohan niya. At this point, I didn't even cry despite the betrayal. Manhid na 'ko. I just needed for him to tell me the truth. In the end, deny to the max pa rin. Nasa ibang lugar daw siya at kaya lang daw hindi nagpaalam at nagsinungaling ay dahil magagalit ako at mag-aaway kami. That's when I realized I've finally had enough and decided to move out the next day.
It's been more than a month since we broke up. The tables have turned and now he's the one begging. Because of that, I had to go through a lot of relapses and mental breakdown. Part of me aches for him since he has no one else na (he doesn't have any real family members anymore, he does live with his foster family though). Tells me na ako lang kakampi niya pero iniwan ko pa rin siya. Na kasing sakit ng pagkawala ng mother niya yung pag-iwan ko sa kanya. Na his world fell apart when I left and that he now realizes my worth. But the bigger and more rational part of me just wants to let go and have my peace back.
I can also see how the situation is really killing him. I've never seen him so unfocused at work (he takes his job very seriously) to the point na nagbabagsakan talaga performance scores niya. I've never seen him this desperate to win me back na kahit magmukha siyang tanga sa harap ng ibang tao like my work friends, okay lang. I keep on pushing him away and I'm feeling a bit guilty for the pain he's going through right now. I know he deserves it, pero he's on the verge of ruining his life. Kanina lang nalaman kong 'di siya pumasok nung Friday dahil nagpakalasing magdamag.
Sorry na agad sa word vomit but ABYG for leaving him? Sabi kasi nila if you really love someone, you work things out and not give up on each other. I'm afraid that it will just be the same vicious cycle if balikan ko siya (not that I plan to) but I still care for him a lot.
Also, g@g0 rin ba ko for falling out of love kahit one month palang kaming nag-break kasi I'm starting to feel admiration for someone else now? (the very same friend/workmate of mine he hates so much)

Edit 2: Appreciate y'all talking some sense into me. I finally blocked him on all socials para wala na talaga kaming connection. I was delaying doing just that for a while now because I still care about him nga and in case lang rin of emergency since nag-iisa na nga siya sa buhay (wala naman kasing pakialam talaga sa kanya yung foster family niya).

Looking at some of the observations made in the Encyclopedia of observations:

My own observations :
Here's a few things I noticed within the cipher that have not been mentioned:

• Taurus (if it is actually refering to the Taurus sign) belongs to the Earth element or triplicity, there are 3 8's in the cipher.
  
• By skipping 8 positions from each 8-ball symbol, we get the messages ME⌖ (going right) and AA⊥ (going left). Left-Right swaps, this seems to be an important part of the cipher as the symbols seem to indicate this as an operation.
  
• There could be some significance to the number 3 here too, as there are 3 "8-balls", there are 3 normal characters in each block of aen⌖ and ⊥nam.
  
• The letter N (Z if rotated 90 degrees) is always next to the special symbols N⌖ and ⊥N, also the pairings N⌖8 and 8⊥N
  
• It might also be suggesting (possibly) the following substitutions: ⌖ = M/E ⊥ = A
  
• By using 8 skips from the 8-ball we get ME⌖ and AA⊥, let's assume that's not coincidence and that the 8-ball symbol is actually an 8, then the number 8 has to be part of cracking the code, perhaps a shift of 8, skip of 8, modulo of 8 or a combination of some/all of them.
  
• The cipher is 13 characters long, if duplicated it's 26, which would be the full english alphabet.
  
• The cipher seems to be self-referential, and the key to the solution is within the cipher itself.
  
• The inclusion of only 2 symbols and 3 numbers, while the rest are normal alphabetic characters, suggests that there is a manipulation of the alphabetic characters as solution.
  
• The letters 'a,' 'e,' 'k,' 'm,' and 'n' are used, all from the first half of the alphabet. This could indicate a constrained alphabet or a manipulation involving only these letters.
  
• The symbols ⌖ and ⊥ might play a role in the solution. Perhaps they represent instructions, such as "reverse the following sequence" or "apply modulo 8 arithmetic." or read from right to left, etc.
  
• There is some indication that this could be an Alberti cipher, Rail fence cipher or Polybius square.
  

Hypothesis: The solution to the cipher "aen⌖8k8m8⊥nam" lies in the manipulation of the alphabetic characters (a, e, n, k, m) using the number 8 as a key.
Key Points:

• Palindromic/Symmetric structure: The cipher is mirrored around the central 8, suggesting a self-referential nature where the solution is contained within the cipher itself.

Conclusion: I'm strongly convinced that the z13 can be solved using the clues and code found within the cipher itself, and that the solution will follow some logical steps, figuring out the correct steps and methods would require more understanding of the structure and methods used in order to create the cipher. But the key to the cipher is contained within itself, that makes the most sense considering how short it is.

I have been looking forward to watching this movie for awhile, but it has only been available to stream on Starz. I can't recall the last time I checked, but I was happy rent or buy on another service. I got distracted with Maxton Hall, so I will add my thoughts later.
This movie is very delightful. Lucy is an oddball who likes to horde the mementos of her past relationships. She meet Nick after she is sort of dumped and loses her job. He is also at a crossroad trying to open a boutique hotel. After several chance meetings Lucy helps Nick with the hotel and open her broken hearts gallery.
It is a very standard rom-com with a nice twist and a bit of New York flair (without making the city a character in the movie too). Geraldine Viswanathan is delightful. She has an Anna Kendrick vibe without the self-consciousness. Dacre Montgomery, who I only seen in Stranger things, is sweet and understated.
I enjoyed the supporting cast as well. All around a good movie.

Scenario: The Kamala Rose International, Vasitanagarh — 2:06PM
Weeks ago, in the very center of The Kamala Rose International lay the fantastical garden known as the Heart of the Rose, in the center of that garden stood a gazebo, and in the center of that gazebo was a table surrounded by four individuals in a heated discussion.
“That was sloppy work, Margherita!” Sulka slammed their fist against the table in an uncharacteristically loud fit of rage, “I told you to get rid of that man last week! Now because of your pointless delays he was able to leak that scandal to the news!”
“Hey hey, levati dai coglioni! I don’t appreciate the blame being thrown onto me here,” Margo threw up his arms in response, looking more annoyed than upset, “You never told me there was any urgency. Besides, it takes a bit of time to frame an accidental death. What, do you think you can just shoot a guy in the head and call it a suicide? You watch too many movies if you think that kind of thing can just happen overnight, mammalucco.”
“Do you even care that our operation here is in jeopardy now that that video is drawing prying eyes our way?!” Sulka almost spat at the italian man, “Your nonchalance is insulting!”
“Easy, Sulka,” Jim Peckle interjected, “Margo did his best. No way for him to know that things would turn this way.”
“You’re both right, actually,” Margo sneered, “I did my best, as I do with every job, but I honestly couldn’t care less if this little crime ring collapses. You lot are nothing more than a side hustle to me, my allegiances lie back in Italy. In other words, stop pestering me and vai a cagare.”
With a swish of his apron Margo left, leaving Sulka to smolder in a more recognizable quiet anger.
“That’s the last time we give him a time sensitive job, if you ask me,” Pluto spoke up for the first time since arriving (late), “The unwanted attention is a problem, don’t get me wrong, but I’m more concerned with how we even got to this in the first place, hey? That guy in the video was talking about missing people, Kiisseli. Just what the hell have you been up to?”
“Need I remind you, Hendrix,” Sulka’s cold gaze turned to meet Pluto’s, “that part of our arrangement involves the right to privacy. I do not intend to pry about what you use our resources for so I expect that you will do me the same decency.”
“Excuse me…?” Pluto straightened up from his relaxed position, “You don’t get to just shrug this off after bringing the feds to our damn doorste-”
“To be curt,” Sulka cut him off, “It’s none of your damn business, Pluto. So drop it.”
Behind Sulka’s back, Jim quietly scoped his nearest emergency exit.
Pluto’s vein bulged visibly at Sulka’s words, “You’ve got people paying attention to the airport cuz you’ve been pulling some shady bullshit and you just managed to get your ass handed to you by a cat and some whackjob in a mask, hey. Obviously this is my fucking business!”
“I may have been beaten by a “whackjob” as you put it,” Sulka slowly rose from their chair, “but I could certainly beat you if you’re going to keep acting like a thorn in my side.”
“You could beat who?” Pluto’s voice raised an octave in sheer frustration and confusion, “Trust me, you don’t want this smoke, Kiisseli.”
“What’s this about smoke?” Dark Disquiet shimmered into view and lit a fire in its palm behind Sulka as they spoke, “Because from where I stand you’re the only one who should fear getting burned, Hendrix.”
“This isn’t the time or place for a fight,” Jim stepped in between the two, holding up his hands. Behind his dark sunglasses, his eyes flicked cautiously over to Sulka. “Everything just goes up in flames. Nobody wins… Best cool things down and make peace.”
An uneasy silence hung over the gazebo until Pluto clicked his tongue in frustration, “Yeah. Fine. Better an ally than an enemy, I suppose. But let it be known that next time I have to deal with problems caused by your actions I’ll be expecting a damn good explanation, hey? Now I’m getting out of here before your self important face pisses me off any more than it already has.”
Once Pluto had left earshot, Sulka let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of their nose, “I hate to admit it but I too am in a state where I still need to rely on Hendrix’s assistance. Oh how I despise co-leadership…”
“I like having him around,” Jim replied, shrugging minutely, “He brings a lot to the Heart. He’s easygoing, and a lot more dedicated than he seems on the surface. It would be a shame to drive him away.”
“You’ve already deescalated the situation, Jim Peckle. Any further arbitration would be pointless, unless you mean to crawl your way back onto my good side. In which case you have a long way to go,” Sulka made a dispassionate gesture towards the exit, “You may leave as well, but don’t assume that this means you’re off the hook. You’ve not yet been forgiven for leaving me in the dirt and running off with that costumed clown after our fight.”
Jim hesitated for a moment before deciding to swallow his pride and take his own advice. Instead, he simply gave a light nod in response and scurried out of the gazebo.
For a time Sulka sat in silence, partially to gather their thoughts and partially to make sure their team members had cleared out. “Marko, Olli, come here now.”
Barely missing a beat, the Runoilija brothers ran in to greet Sulka, “Right here boss!” Marko, the bigger of the two, responded, “Sorry we weren’t here for the meeting–that kid you hired a while back was break dancing in the halls outside the garden and we were entranced by the little guy!”
“Enough!” Sulka was all too familiar with how the brothers could prattle on if left unchecked, “I didn’t call you over to have you discuss your simplistic entertainment. I have a job for the two of you.”
“Lay it on us boss, we’ll get it done in no time,” Olli rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
“To be more accurate it’s closer to a reassignment than a job,” Sulka tucked their hands behind their back, beginning to pace across the raised dais. “Thanks to this mess we’re in, I’ll be forced to decrease, if not totally halt, my… cultivation, we’ll call it, her at the Rose. In order to make up for the drop-off in offerings we will need to expand operations outside of the airport. I’ve already made the arrangements. Starting tomorrow, you two will be stationed at Club Naraka over in Port Konwar. You will remain vigilant for any and all stand users that enter the building. I don’t care how you do it but make sure you check every guest. Once you find a stand user you are to restrain them and call for me. This is by far the most promising location I’ve managed to get a hold of, so I am expecting big things. Are there any questions?”
“Uh, it’s a club, yeah?” Marko cocked his head, “That means there’ll be booze, right?”
“...Yes Marko,” Sulka sighed, “There will be drinks of all kinds.”
“Alright! We won’t let you down boss! You can count on us!” Olli beamed—and promptly tripped on Marko’s heels in his haste as the two of them rushed for the door.
Sulka sighed again, if that pair of fools weren’t so loyal they would’ve discarded them long ago.
Scenario: ???, ??? — 1:20 AM

Reese’s eyes slowly opened, his vision hazy. His head stung—that was the first thing he noticed, the dull throbbing pain in his temple. He couldn’t think straight. Where was he? Why was he here? What was-

“Ghhh...” He massaged his temples, blearily trying to force some sense into his brain. He was... Where was he...
Memories came back to him slowly, filtered through heavy bass and the scraping of a rusty fan overhead. He was looking for leads on something... His father was looking into Nightblooms... There were rumors of knowledgeable Stand users here... His teammates had told him not to go, but he-
The door creaked open, slamming against a dingy, degraded concrete wall. Reese lifted his head, slowly. His head felt like a ten ton weight on his shoulders. He could hardly see. What the fuck happened?
Through the now open door a stream of light poured in highlighting the silhouettes of two men. The bigger man on the right spoke first, “So this kid is the fresh meat, huh? And you’re sure he’s one of us this time?”
“Oh definitely,” The skinny man on the left replied, “This guy’s a stand user, no doubt about it.”
Reese could hear what the men were saying but his mind was covered in a fog and it was difficult to comprehend the words. Fresh meat? Stand user? Did these two bring him here? What did they want?
The skinny man kneeled down to bring himself face to face with Reese. Even in the darkness of the room he was close enough that Reese could make out his distinctly crooked nose , “I’m gonna make this real simple for you, pal. You see our boss is a very important person. They are the type with big plans that some people might not agree with. Because of that, they like to make powerful friends whenever possible. Friends like you, for example. For that very reason the boss is on their way here right now to meet you! I’m sure the two of you will get along great but I thought I should give you a bit of a warning. The boss doesn’t like it when their offer of friendship gets turned down, you see. There’s only one thing they hate more than that. Unnecessary risk. If they can’t have you as a friend… Well, I’m sure you’ll make the right choice once you meet them.”
“Uhhh, Olli?” The bigger one tapped the skinny man on the shoulder, “I don’t think this kid is hearing you. Look at his eyes, it’s like he’s still asleep.”
“Wha-?” Olli aggressively grabbed Reese’s head and forcefully opened his eyelids all the way to stare into the boy’s pupils, “Goddamnit, the drugs still haven’t worn off! Urgh, just put him back to sleep Marko. I’ll give him the speech again once he wakes up.”
Reese wanted to run or fight or something but he could barely move as the skinny man- Olli let go of his head. Drugs? Had these two drugged him? His mind was swimming with Olli’s monologue creating a whirlpool of words and phrases that he recognized but could not focus on. With every ounce of his available strength he lifted his body onto his elbows and looked up to his captors.
“W-wait a se-” He couldn’t even form a full sentence before the bigger man- Marko reeled back and threw out a punch.
There was a violent shake.
A loud thud.
And then black.
Scenario: Club Naraka, Port Konwar — 1:22 AM
Club Naraka was, if nothing else, accurately named.
When you first stepped into the subterranean hell pit of human desire, you were greeted with the thick smell of booze and cigarettes and other far less legal things. It had a way of overwhelming every sense, actually. Harsh lights strobed against the otherwise dim chambers of each floor, and the bass thumped hard enough to feel in your ribs. When you eventually found yourself in a place where it didn’t smell so harshly of booze, it was because it smelled like vomit instead, or some other thing you didn’t really want to figure out the source of.
Emile Gulati, 27 years old, stared with half lidded eyes at the air freshener she’d hung behind the bar, wishing with all of her heart that it actually worked. It was her last little rebellion against this place. She tried wearing earbuds, but she couldn’t hear her own music over the stuff they played in the club. She tried normal earplugs, but those hardly worked, and just made it harder to bartend. She considered nose plugs, but that’d just make her look weird - customers gave her enough shit already.
“Evening, bartender~.” A sleazy looking man had somehow wandered over to the bar without her noticing, splaying himself over the counter. Emile tried her best to hide her immediate disdain. “You, uh, wow, huh, eheh.” He pointed at her. “Nnnn~ice outfit. Eheh.”
She scowled.
“You gonna order something or what?” Emile made sure to step back a few feet. Best not to stand too close to guys like this - she’d learned that the hard way just a week ago. “I don’t work here as a fucking model. Get a drink.”
“Bitch.” The man sneered. “You people should be more agreeable. Tsch.” He wandered off, having seemingly forgotten what he came for in the first place. Emile sighed in relief. She idly looked back at the little bottle under the counter, and winced. She’d made a routine of reminding herself it was there and feeling like shit about it.
Being a bartender here was bad enough, but every now and then she’d get a lovely text from a higher up on the burner phone they’d given her to slip a few drops of that into their drink. Within moments a security guard would drag them away, leaving Emile with no explanation. Not that she was expecting one, granted. But she would’ve liked to know what exactly she was doing here. For closure, or something. Maybe.
Couldn’t pay rent in Mist City without a job, she reminded herself for the fourth time that night. The latest one really got to her - some bright eyed youngster filled with determination who was trying so hard not to look like he was there on some sort of mission. She had hope that whatever job it was would succeed, but that hope seemed to evaporate like a fine mist when she watched him disappear behind the elevator doors.
She rubbed her temples.
“...”
And exhaled. This place got in the way of her reason, the music keeping her from thinking. Was next month’s rent worth the people she’d screwed over? Hell if she knew.
“I’m taking my fifteen,” said Emile, to no one in particular. She marched away from the bar, stalking towards the elevator. When the doors closed behind her, she found herself blessed by something close to peace and quiet. It reassured her.
Equally reassuring was the golden coin beneath her feet, glinting in harsh LED light.
“...Lucky coin, huh?” She picked it up, admiring it for a moment before pressing down on the lowest button on the elevator keypad. She didn’t know what she was actually going to do - but it’d probably be better than doing nothing.
When the doors opened, Emile found the floor was completely barren. No one wandered through the dusty concrete halls; the only thing that gave her company was the thick, noxious smell that clung to the air. Preferring not to investigate its source, Emile began walking through the halls…until her eye caught on an open door. Unsure where else to go, she peeked inside.
Curled on the cold floor was a body. Emile’s stomach dropped–until she saw movement in the person’s chest. Still alive. That she could work with. Rushing over, Emile knelt next to the unconscious person, as she had with countless blackout drunks. She made sure he was on his side, and then gently stirred him until he woke. All the while, dread tangled her organs in knots. Who would do such a thing? Why? Still, the answers didn’t matter. What mattered is that something was very wrong with this place, and they needed to leave as fast as possible.
Yet, when the young man opened his eyes, he didn’t look at her with shock or fear, but anger. A righteous fury that had him just about jumping to his feet.
“Woah! Woah, settle down, you were unconscious, your body needs time-” Emile began, before the man shook his head. That alone seemed to dizzy him, as he braced himself against the wall.
“I don’t have time. I need to- I can’t have been the only one. I need to-”
Emile stepped closer, trying to put a hand on his shoulder, but he immediately bristled at the touch, as if on reflex.
“You’re hurt- look, man… something’s up with this place. We need to get out of here.”
But he just shrugged her off, moving towards the nearest unlocked door. Without hesitation, he flung it open, frantically looking for other survivors. Yet, what he and Emile found…were rows of bathtubs. That horrid, sharpened smell was even stronger now, nearly overwhelming. It was all Reese could do to not keel over. Instead, Emile moved to support him, and the two crept closer, peering over the edge.
Inside the tub, something boiled, bubbled, churned.
The thing inside could barely be called human. The acid gnawed at the corpse like a desperate, starving animal, stripping the charred flesh off of its bones. Unable to support itself, it collapsed further, head sinking under the liquid. Soon, its blank, lifeless expression was stripped down to its gleaming bone. Gone. All gone.
Reese felt like he was standing in a tunnel. Lightless. Empty. Infinite. The feeling of Emile letting go, the sound of sharp retching, something splattering against the tile, all of it was muffled.
What cruel animal is man.
It was the twin jolts of fear and rage that hit him like an IED. Pounding adrenaline restarted his heart, clicking the world into focus. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Emile heaving, shuddering, pulling at her hair. All the unconscious drunkards, for all the rowdy bar fights, none of it could have prepared her for these horrors. That adrenaline pumped through her in turn, she could feel that fear grow sharp and jagged-
She could feel something take that fear, guiding it towards a sound. Footsteps. Reese didn’t seem to hear them, only her. She tried to speak- nothing. No sound could escape her lips. The fear that gripped her chest was unlike anything she had ever felt before. She couldn’t make a whisper but with the full force of her adrenaline she could still move.
The next few moments were a blur. A bottle on a shelf, shouting from the previous room, a desperate lunge, and the distinct sound of rending flesh. Suddenly everything was vivid and clear again. She felt the guards blood trickle through her fingers as Emile looked down and witnessed what she had done. The bottle had become a knife, and she had stabbed someone.
The guard fell to the ground as Emile stared at her shaking, blood stained hands, “I- that wasn’t- I didn’t mean-” She was stammering all while Reese watched on in silent shock.
“He’s not dead Emile,” a feminine voice echoed through her skull, “You have to finish it. You have to make sure.”
Her eyes darted from one end of the room to the other, trying desperately to find the source, but the longer she delayed the louder it got.
“Kill him. Kill Him. KILL HIM. KILL HIM.”
What happens when an animal is backed into a corner?
It attacks.
Suddenly, something in Emile snapped- no, it shattered like a broken bottle. A low scream escaped her throat betwixt clenched jaws as she savaged upon the barely breathing man.The knife became her teeth, raised into the air and plunged into red flesh. A wet schlllrk rang as she pulled it back out, only to bury it down again and again and again.
Reese moved quickly, instinctually- tackling her to the ground. A desperate move- to break this haze that she was in, end whatever vile urge had overcome her.
His eyes widened as they tumbled onto the floor, spotting several pairs of feet. Guards. He had tackled them into the direct view of more guards.
”Shit.”
A snapping noise split the air. An ethereal crocodile came from the ether, ready to defend its user.
A cornered animal attacked.
Meanwhile in the upper floors of the club the Runoilija brothers sat at a bar. Olli casually nursed an elaborate cocktail as he criticized his larger brother, “I think you hit that guy a little too hard, he should be awake again by now but there’s no news from the guards… You better not have killed him by accident like that last guy, Sulka’s already pissed enough at us as is.”
“That was not my fault!” Marko slammed his beer mug on the counter, “That last one wouldn’t stay down, so I just kept hitting him until he did. How was I supposed to know that he’d die so easily!”
“You literally just gave a textbook description of negligence, you moron. Of course it was your fault!” Olli smacked Marko on the side of his head to emphasize his point.
“Why’d you always gotta hit me…” Marko grumbled as he rubbed his head, “If you’re so sure that I’m the moron then let's bet on whether the fresh meat has gone cold or not. Whoever loses pays for the other’s drinks for the rest of the night.”
“Alright deal,” Olli snickered as they shook hands, “I’ll go take a look.”
Olli’s hand restlessly gripped the switchblade in his pocket as he descended through the floors of the nightclub. He fully intended to finish off the drugged up kid in the basement, assuming he refused to work for the boss like most did. He would pin the blame on his dumbass brother and have him pay for his drinks for the whole night. A win-win scenario.
Suddenly, a vibration from his phone. An update from the guards:
The prisoner got out. There are two of them now.
Marko received the same message back at the bar above. In a fit of rage he chucked his mug of beer at the wall with his full strength, just barely missing the skull of the bartender who was serving him. Before he had a chance to cause any more senseless damage another message addressed to himself and all the other guards came through, this time from his brother.
Find them both, NOW! Kill them if you have to, just make sure they don’t leave! If they’re gone when Sulka gets here we’ll all be fucked!
Marko stood up from the bar and began to push through the flirting couples and stumbling drunkards of the nightclub as his Ultraviolet materialized. The fresh meat had a helper and the two were trying to scurry away like rats? That was fine by him. Marko specialized in hunting down rats.

The music seemed to distort more intensely the longer Reese listened. Maybe it was the dull ache of the base, punctuated by a hundred frenzied footfalls, a rhythm that toppled over itself. Maybe it was the rage that sent his own heart racing. He could feel it pound against ｢Magenta Mountain｣ as he held the hourglass close to his chest. Still, there was no time to rest.
Finally, the two of them found the source of the noise. A dark, dingy dancefloor. It stunk of sweat and mildew, and the dancing bodies seemed to twist in the low light. Even as the two entered, splattered in blood, no one took notice. They were too caught up in dance, alcohol, god knows what else. In this moment of respite, Reese turned to Emile. Her gaze was as vacant as his own, she seemed to look right past him.
“Hey, focus.” Impatience had made his voice sharp. There wasn’t time for niceties, not for her. Emile’s eyes readjusted, finding him. In the dark, he could not see that was shone in her expression wasn’t malice, but fear.
“What the hell was that!?” he pressed. She shrunk away in turn.
“...I had to get out.”
“I know that,” Reese frowned, “We’re in the same boat. But that’s not an excuse- I could have helped! You didn’t have to-”
“I have to get out,” Emile continued. Her gaze went past him yet again. Her body shuddered. “Please, please just let me out. I’ll do anything, anything you want, I can’t stand this hell- just let me out!”
“I…” Reese swallowed, hugging his Stand tight. “What?”
His mind reeled, trying to process his next steps. This woman was unstable, that was clear. Unstable, violent, dangerous—not just to others, but herself. If Reese allowed her to simply leave, without understanding what was happening, who knew how many would suffer? Yet, the crowd shifted in strange ways, the beat becoming frantic, the music growing warped and mutilated. Should he stop the woman? Should he protect her from these maddening halls? What should he do? What should he do?
The moment Reese looked up, trying to make a call–Emile was gone. She had vanished deep into the crowd, following that horrid, golden voice. The music reminded Reese of the howl of coyotes in the night. The raucous celebrations of beasts who found their meal.
Against his beating heart, he felt ｢Magenta Mountain｣. Inside those grains lay the vast expanse of evolution, and its uniting link: the will to survive at any cost. His beasts had all failed, each one had faced death, and lost. At this moment, Reese understood them. He knew what it was to be a cornered animal. He would deal with the moral quandaries of man once he escaped. But first, he had to escape. The grains of sand were slipping through the hourglass. He knew he would not die like all those beasts that came before him. He would escape. He would survive. He had to.
Nothing else mattered.
Lost in the crowd, he and Emile reached that same conclusion.
Nothing else mattered.
Open the Game.
Location: Club Naraka, with the players currently on the second basement floor. Throughout the stage, the brown sections of the map are doors, furniture, lockers, crates, and whatever makes sense for the location. The players may interpret the map to read furniture as what would make sense for the location and may find any items that would be reasonable to find in that area of a club; if these ever would conflict in strategies, treat both readings as, somehow, correct.
Green circles are guards, each of which have 333 physicals, Guard: 3, and Basic Weapon Use: 3. These are overall competent operatives who aren’t going to be utterly trivial to get past, and each is armed with a handgun loaded with 9mm bullets and a baton.
The 2nd basement floor has MARKOV on one side in the bar, and Reese on the other in the boiler room. A few guards are already on the map; neither has immediate line of sight on either player.
North of MARKOV is a storage closet, which opens into a bathroom. North of this is the backrooms of the club, with the currently full dance floor in the middle. North of the boiler rooms is the security guard room, and at the far northeast of the map is the office of the club’s owner, filled with various trophies.
Of note for Reese, there are a few dead rats (purple triangles) in the boiler room, and a piece of coral (purple circle) in the office. This chunk of coral is 8 kg, and when reanimated by ｢Magenta Mountain｣ forms as a sort of hemisphere 2m across and 1.5m high.
The 1st basement floor is mostly for club business, with speakers and various technical material spread around. Of note, the many, many guards on the south of the first level will, if the players choose not to fight through the closest stairways, slowly fill into the lowest level, chasing the players. In essence, there will be significantly less guards around the stairs to the ground floor if the players take the longer path.
Finally, the Ground Floor is an open warehouse space with no traditional obstacles- as everything in this room is currently floating airborne, with a gloating Sulka armed with a fire extinguisher acting as the final obstacle. Between Sulka’s mobility, their guards acting as easier targets, and the needs of the match, they may not be RETIRED, but attacks launched at them will temporarily distract them and force them to block or avoid them. Otherwise, Sulka will alternate between launching single massive crates and flurries of small objects at the players as they fight their way through the ground floor, up to the doors at the north.
Goal: Fight your way out of Club Naraka! In particular, leave the club in better shape than your opponent.
While combat is allowed and expected, for the most part guards won’t leave too far from their base location; they can be snuck past. The winner of the match is who gets out of the club in the overall best condition.
Combat between players with the intent or foreseeable result of RETIREMENT is not recommended, though other types of interference are.
Additional Information: MARKOV’s current user is Emile Gulati, who has 233 physicals and 3 Bartending; Bartending gives Emile a thorough understanding of the layout of the club as well as preternatural skill in being able to throw around glass bottles or other similarly hefty items.
As for other NPCs besides the guards, the clubgoers have 222 physicals, Ignoring Any Chaos Around Them 5, and Mostly Irrelevant To The Match 4. Essentially they can act as a sort of cover in the dance floor, but besides hiding among them, don’t worry about anyone besides guards too much.

Welcome, all. This will be a rather long post explaining my journey. To get it out of the way, I am not cured and still looking for help, but we'll get there.
It all began on my birthday last year (ironically). Approximately 8 months ago. I noticed some redness on the penis head and foreskin. I thought nothing of it and thought it would go away. It didn't. I scowered the internet for answers and tried everything. I tried changing detergents, soaps/body washes, having my foreskin pulled down (uncircumsized btw) in my breifs, tried boxers (always been a boxer man tbh), the list goes on; i tried being rough with cleaning it, i tried just letting water rinse it off, and drying after urination and showering. Nothing helped...
I finally went to go see Doctor #1. Doctor #1 is a younger doctor, maybe 30 years old, but well versed in the field as he's overseen by a doctor with 25+ years of experience. I trusted him. I never showed him my piece but explicitely explained what it looked like. He prescribed me Viaderm KC cream.
*** Before I continue, all i ever had was a rash/redness all over the penis head and foreskin. It wasn't it's usually skin colour (foreskin) and purple colour (penis head). No itchiness, no nothing. I did have a sexual interaction and forgot that I was cutting onions beforehand and not washing my hands but that's irrelevant ***
Viaderm KC Cream. It worked wonders. It made my penis look back to normal if not better. It was amazing, I thought this miracle cream would fix my issues forever. Given that this was a few months ago, I forget exactly how often i used it, but lets say once every 2-3 days, whenever I had flare-ups. Note: back then and even now, ANY TYPE OF FRICTION, pisses off me penis and it goes straight to red. Even getting a boner in the morning (without touching it) causes it go to really red. Obviously, I'm talking about masterbation and sex included.
The viaderm CREAM eventually ran out. I used about 30ml in a month or two and the problem still wasn't resolved. It was at this time i learned that it's a steroidal cream... I went back to the doctor and essentially asked if he could give me more, but in ointment form so it "lasts" or "holds" onto my penis longer. He understood my concerns and prescribed it. From that moment (again, months ago), I've only used it maybe 5 times in very desperate times where it seemed like my penis is just getting worse.
Enter Doctor #2. Around winter break of last year, I realized this cream isn't solving the issue, but just covering up the symptoms. I went to another doctor. Doctor #2 had over 35 years if not 40 of experience of being a family practioner. He has seen some shit. I figured not to hide anything/be straight up with him and actually showed him photos of my penis (note: I can link them with exactly when it looked like this, and why it looked like this). His eyes lit up and I didn't know why. He noticed red patches near the base of the penis head (still on the penis head) and I was confused. It turns out he had the same thing for years and years; and it wasn't balantitis..., it was genital psoraisis. I never googled photos of it until yesterday, the various of photos from what I saw on google to my penis, is quite different. But yet again, I believed him. Keep in mind my penis was the worst it ever has been, so I wanted to try anything. He prescribed me Protopic. I heard about this cream before and was wishing i could get a prescription because it sounded like it would solve all my problems. Then Doctor #2 fell into my laps somehow and truthfully I think I shed a tear because i had a doctor who had the same thing as me, looking out for me, helping me, and finally curing me.
The first 10 days of Protopic was brutal. Each day it looked different. Each day it looked weirder and weirder (worse before it got better). There was even a point where I would retract the foreskin and I have blisters on it that were bleeding..... I wanted to cry but ironically they went away a day after.
I used protopic for a few weeks, twice a week (Mon, Thu) specifically and it worked for the first few weeks. My penis wasn't entirely back to normal but the irritation and inflammation went away. Ocassionally, let's say every other week, it wouldn't really do anything. It just had no effect. I still had sex and would kinda hide my penis as much as possible because i was embarrased of girlfriend noticing it looked slightly different. When I was prescribed Protopic, I told her most of the details but brushing it off as if it was a cream that "turns my penis back to normal after sex bc it gets EVER SO SLIGHTLY red". That was a lie obviously, it was red maybe 50% of the time on protopic, especially after sexy time.
Fast forward to now. Protopic just doesn't work anymore. I tried different things like applying it a day before sexy time, day of, even after sexy time, (running my own trials) and it doesn't help at all. It sucks because it did at the beginning. The reason i'm writing this is because I really thought i would just apply this cream twice a week for the rest of life so my dick works. But here we are.

Thank you for staying with me this entire time. I can assure you we're almost done here. Back to protopic not working. I reached out to Doctor #1's BOSS and explained to him that I've been using both creams for months and no results; maybe antibiotics is the way to go? I can't tell you the name right now but their basically antifungal or antibacterial ones used for STI's (I've only had sex with 4 woman in my life, 2 one night stands, and 2 long long long term relationships. It's 2000% confirmed it's not the woman's fault or causing it. In my mind, antibiotics would teach my body how to reach to this problem and fix it for life. I had an issue with my toe once and antibiotics for 2 weeks solved it, no problems every since. The antibiotics for the toe was 6 months prior to my mystery balantitis condition. Nonetheless, Doctor #1's BOSS shut me down faster than ever insinuating that I'm stupid and need to go see a dermatologist. And now we get to the present moment. I think I have no other choice. I am strongly against getting circumsized and to be honest I don't it would solve the issue. The issue is definitely fungal and not bacterial (I work in construction, shower every day, and maintain proper hygiene). Which brings me to diet, is there a possibility that coincidentally on my birthday my body just flipped a switch and caused these problems because of what i eat? I'm not a stupid person, I know that diet plays a part, and to be honest with you, I don't have the best diet
I'm constantly stressed, living paycheque to paycheque trying to convince my girlfriend that I can support both of us without a sweat. That is obviously not true. I started explaining to her more about my financial situation and luckily she understands so she's a keeper. I have my own car (mid sized SUV), i pay my own insurance, i pay my own gas, i pay my own rent (in canada so you know it's expensive here), i pay for everything by myself. I make decent money, enough to support myself, but sometimes I would rather buy myself a cool tool instead of groceries for the week which sucks, but I don't know why I'm like this and I can't change. On top of that, because of this stress, i vape constantly and drink heavily. You'd be surprised... I can drink 14 beers (500ml) and get up at noon, or 9x 500ml beers and still get up at 7am to be at the job for 8am. In retrospect it's a terrible diet and beers or alcohol contain...... you guessed it..... YEAST..... guess what feeds fungals...... YEAST. I know that drinking DEFINITELY doesn't help my situation but i am not convinced that it is the root cause of my problem. I drink heavily now because of this problem, but when it first started, I was only drinking on weekends. Riddle me that one.
In conclusion, I've had this close to a year and saw many professionals regarding this. Still no answer. I can bang the Mrs sure, no issues doing the act, but self confidence has plummeted, hard. I'm afraid it's gonna start affecting my relationship because in all honesty I want to marry this woman.
Any advice or help is much appreciated. Looking forward to your responses
