2024.05.16 22:24 dopaminewellbeing Finding Strength in Faith: Overcoming Addiction Through Prayer

In the journey of life, some paths are more treacherous than others, winding through the shadows of addiction. Itā€™s a journey that tests the limits of our strength, courage, and, most importantly, our faith. Yet, in the midst of this battle, many have discovered a powerful ally that lights the way and offers hope for recovery: prayer.
The Foundation of Faith At the heart of overcoming addiction is the fundamental belief in a power greater than ourselves. This belief, for many, is rooted in faithā€”a conviction that we are never alone, even in our darkest hours. Faith assures us of Godā€™s unwavering presence, offering a beacon of hope when the shadows of addiction seem insurmountable.
The Power of Prayer Prayer is more than a routine or ritual; it is the language of the heart that connects us with the divine. Itā€™s a form of spiritual communication that provides strength, solace, and guidance. Through prayer, we open our hearts to receive Godā€™s grace, enabling us to face our struggles with a renewed sense of purpose and hope.
A Source of Strength For those battling addiction, prayer serves as a source of strength. It empowers individuals to navigate through cravings, moments of weakness, and the emotional turmoil that accompanies recovery. By surrendering our fears and anxieties to God, we gain the courage to continue on the path of sobriety, even when it feels like an uphill battle.
A Path to Healing Prayer also initiates a process of inner healing. It encourages self-reflection, helping individuals to confront the underlying issues that may have contributed to their addiction. Through heartfelt prayers, we seek forgiveness for our past mistakes and ask for guidance to make better choices in the future. This spiritual dialogue fosters a sense of peace and acceptance, essential components for healing and personal growth.
Building a Supportive Community The act of praying together, whether with family, friends, or within a faith community, strengthens the bonds of support that are crucial for recovery. It creates a shared spiritual experience that uplifts everyone involved, reminding those struggling with addiction that they are not alone. This sense of community can provide comfort during challenging times and celebrate successes along the way.
Testimonies of Transformation Countless individuals have shared testimonies of how faith and prayer have transformed their lives, guiding them out of the darkness of addiction into the light of recovery. These stories are not just accounts of personal triumphs; they are beacons of hope for others facing similar battles. They demonstrate that, with faith and prayer, change is possible, and a life free from addiction is within reach.
Embracing the Journey Overcoming addiction is a journey that requires patience, perseverance, and faith. Itā€™s about learning to lean on a power greater than ourselves and finding solace in the promise of Godā€™s love and grace. Prayer is a key that unlocks the door to this spiritual journey, offering a path to recovery that is grounded in hope, strengthened by faith, and illuminated by divine light.
As we navigate through the challenges of addiction, let us remember that we are never alone. Our faith, coupled with the power of prayer, provides the strength we need to overcome the obstacles we face. Itā€™s a journey of healing, transformation, and ultimately, redemption. With God as our guide, we can and will find our way out of the shadows and into the light of a new dawn.
Remember, the path to recovery is a journey of a thousand steps, and it begins with a single, powerful act of faith: prayer.
Self-Reflection Questions/Journal Prompts:
  1. Reflecting on Faith: How has your faith (or understanding of a higher power) provided strength in times of personal struggle, particularly with addiction or other challenges? Describe a moment when you felt this support most profoundly.
  2. The Role of Prayer: Reflect on your experiences with prayer during difficult times. How do you feel it has impacted your journey toward recovery or healing?
  3. A Dialogue with the Divine: Write a letter to God (or your understanding of a higher power) about your struggles with addiction. What would you ask for? What gratitude would you express?
  4. Strength in Vulnerability: Reflect on a moment when admitting your weakness or vulnerability led to a discovery of inner strength. How did this change your perspective on seeking help or relying on faith?
  5. Healing and Forgiveness: How has the concept of forgivenessā€”whether forgiving others or yourselfā€”played a role in your recovery or personal growth? Consider moments of forgiveness that have sparked healing.
  6. Community and Support: Write about the importance of community in your life. How has being part of a supportive group, faith-based or otherwise, helped you through your struggles?
  7. Lessons from the Shadows: What are the most valuable lessons youā€™ve learned from the darkest times in your life, including any battles with addiction? How have these lessons shaped your faith or spirituality?
  8. The Power of Testimony: Reflect on a story of recovery (yours or someone elseā€™s) that has inspired you. What elements of this story resonate with you most, and how does it fuel your hope for the future?
  9. A Conversation with Your Future Self: Imagine having a conversation with the future version of yourself, who has successfully navigated the path to recovery. What advice or words of wisdom do they offer?
  10. Daily Acts of Faith: Identify small, daily acts where you can express or practice your faith and spirituality. How might these acts contribute to your journey of healing and recovery?

2024.05.16 22:17 ja_feel From Snacks to SaaS, and lessons I've learned along the way

Hey Entrepreneur!
I wanted to share the story of the past year and a half of my life - a tale of challenges, tech innovation, and a whole lot of snacks. This isnā€™t just about launching a product; itā€™s about solving a big problem that inspired an entire platform.
TL;DR: My buddy and I sold our previous snack subscription box company and made a cool thing

The Seeds of Discontent

At our previous company, my buddy Mike and I saw how powerful influencer marketing could be. Our business, delivering international snacks to doorsteps, was perfect for social media. But managing these influencer partnerships was a huge headache.
Each new campaign started with excitement but quickly became overwhelming. We dealt with many social media platforms, each with its own rules and metrics. Keeping track of everything felt like trying to solve a puzzle with pieces that kept changing. The tools we used were basic. They helped us send products and payments but didnā€™t offer much for managing or understanding the big picture.
Tracking our campaign performance was a real pain. With just a small team running our marketing, we were juggling hundreds of influencers at the same time. It was hard to keep an eye on everyone and make quick decisions. Plus, the data we got was often late and messy, making things even more frustrating.
This constant struggle showed us a big gap in our toolkit. We needed a solution that could make managing influencers easier and give us useful insights, something as dynamic and global as our product. This ongoing frustration planted the seeds for what would eventually become our new company.

Market Research: Finding the Pain Points

After selling our previous business, Mike and I took a six-month break. We explored different ideas, from unique apps to a Castle Crashers style game. But our experience working with creators kept pulling us back to marketing. We knew the challenges of influencer marketing needed to be addressed.
We talked to our network in the e-commerce space to see if they had similar problems. The feedback was eye-opening. Many businesses struggled with existing tools, which mostly acted as simple marketplaces, where interactions were brief and not very deep.
Even worse, the few ambassador tools available were expensive and limited. When I searched for an ambassador software tool that worked across all social networks, the options I found required scheduling demos days in advance. They often lacked direct API connections and supported only a few major social media networks. The starting prices were high, often around $5k per month, with costs going up as the program expanded.
This research not only validated our experiences but also showed us a strategic need for our own tool. We realized we needed a solution not just to fill the current gap but also as a key part of our marketing stack for future businesses. We were determined to build something that wouldnā€™t force usā€”or anyone elseā€”to pay a crazy amount for effective influencer marketing.

Designing the Dream: Our New Businessā€™ Blueprint

With a clear vision from our frustrations and market research, we set out to create our new business. Our goal was to build a comprehensive tool that would change influencer marketing. Hereā€™s what we focused on:
Each feature of our tool we were creating was designed to address specific pain points we identified. Our goal was to offer a tool that was powerful, efficient, adaptable, and enjoyable for both brands and their ambassador partners.

Launching Our New Business: Embracing User Feedback

After about 18 months of design and development, we started the soft launch of our new business on May 1st. Opting for a soft launch allowed us to focus on real-time feedback and fine-tuning over making a big initial splash. This approach is crucial - not just for introducing our product but for understanding how it fits into the real world, where actual users rely on it.

Initial Rollout and Testing

Our launch a couple of weeks ago marked the start of our public journey. We released our new tool we created with ambassador apps on the App Store and Google Play, and opened our web-based company portal for business use. This phase is not about mass marketing but about engaging with our professional network and early adopters testing everything in real-world conditions. This includes real companies and creators, ensuring our platform is robust and responsive.

Iterative Feedback Integration

Feedback from these early stages is invaluable. We have set up multiple channels to communicate with our initial users to ensure they feel supported and heard. This ongoing dialogue is critical as it helps us identify and implement necessary adjustments quickly. Each piece of feedback is a step towards improving functionality and user experience.

Continued Development Based on Early Insights

Since we are still in the soft launch phase, our focus remains on refining the platform. A recent development was adding the Creator Hub and Company Center about a month agoā€”enhancements from recognizing limitations in our initial setup.
Creator Hub: The Creator Hub allows businesses to manage their ambassador relationships dynamically. Companies can discover and invite creators who match their interests and campaign goals, ensuring more personalized and effective collaborations.
Company Center: This feature allows creators to independently discover and apply to various ambassador programs, giving them the freedom to engage with brands that align with their interests.
These features aim to make the connection between companies and creators as seamless and beneficial as possible, accommodating a wide range of marketing strategies and campaign sizes.

How The Tool We Created Works: Streamlining Influencer Marketing

Our tool is designed to simplify and enhance the influencer marketing process for both companies and creators. Hereā€™s a step-by-step breakdown of how our platform works:
  1. Signup and Integration
- Companies can quickly create customizable signup forms. They can also invite new ambassadors directly from the Creator Hub that match their interests. This flexibility helps integrate Social Strudel into existing marketing workflows.
2. Ambassador Onboarding
- Creators apply to become ambassadors, download the Social Strudel app, and connect their social media accounts. This ensures that once approved, creators can start engaging with brand campaigns promptly.
3. Application Review
- Companies get notifications of new applicants and can approve or decline them based on their fit and relevance to marketing goals. This step ensures only the best ambassadors represent the brand.
4. Targeted Segmentation
- Companies can segment ambassadors into groups, allowing them to tailor activities and communications. This supports targeted marketing strategies and more personalized engagement.
5. Activity Management
- Companies set up new activities on various social platforms for ambassadors. Examples include:
- These are just examples, and activities can be tailored to fit different platforms and goals.
6. Real-Time Notifications
- Creators get notifications about new activities through push notifications and email. They can browse the app for available activities, ensuring they never miss an opportunity.
7. Submission and Verification
- Creators submit proof of activity completion directly through the app. This makes managing submissions easy and organized for companies.
8. Activity Approval
- Companies review submitted activities, approving or declining them based on quality and alignment with campaign objectives. This maintains high standards and ensures effectiveness.
9. Rewards and Motivation
- Upon approval, creators earn points, which can be redeemed for various rewards. This system motivates creators to produce high-quality content and stay engaged.
10. Custom Rewards Creation
11. Reward Notifications and Redemption
12. Reward Distribution Management

Looking Forward: The Road Ahead for Us

As we continue with our new business, we are committed to not just meeting but exceeding the evolving needs of digital marketing. Weā€™ve only just begun to tap into our platformā€™s potential, and our roadmap is geared towards enhancing our service and expanding our reach.

Enhanced Integration Capabilities

We aim to expand our platformā€™s integration capabilities, adding support for social networks like WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, and Quora, and adapting to new emerging platforms like the anticipated Vine 2. By covering more platforms, we provide our users with tools to engage with audiences everywhere online.

Advanced Analytics and AI Implementation

Understanding the crucial role of data, we plan to enhance our analytics engine with advanced metrics and predictive analytics. By integrating AI, we aim to give users insights that reflect current trends and anticipate future behaviors.

Continued Focus on User Experience

User feedback is key and remains a cornerstone of our development. We are committed to refining the user experience based on real usage and feedback. This includes enhancing our mobile apps and ensuring the Creator Hub and Company Center are intuitive and robust. Both are still in early stages, and we are actively working to improve these features.

Expanding Educational Resources

To help users fully leverage the tool we created, we plan to expand our educational resources. This includes tutorials, best practice guides, and case studies for new users, and advanced content for experienced marketers to refine their strategies.

Final Reflections

If you've stuck with me this long through our story, thank you! Reflecting on this journey, itā€™s clear that every challenge and setback helped shape our vision and refine our approach. From the initial frustrations to the detailed market research, every step has been a learning experience. We're excited about the future and committed to improving our platform constantly to meet the evolving needs of our users and potential users. If you have any questions or feedback at all, Iā€™d love to hear it! Your insights and support mean a lot as my partner and I continue to grow and innovate.

Roman Art 2C03, Commerce 2AB3, History 2RR3
Posting this for any future students considering these courses as electives:
Roman Art 2C03: unless youā€™re very good at memorization and spelling Roman words I do not recommend taking Roman Art 2C03, I regret taking it. The entire course is made up of 3 tests and 1 exam. Itā€™s FILL IN THE BLANK - so despite the content being very interesting and easy to grasp, the issue is that there are hundreds of different names of artworks, people, emperors, places, etc written in Roman, that you need to memorize and be able to spell in order to do well in the course. The tests are manageable if you study for a few days consistently, but the exam is difficult (image is just the list of words I was trying to memorize how to spell before the exam). I wouldnā€™t be so harsh on this course if it wasnā€™t an elective for most people and what appears to be an easy course. Despite it being a course I expected to boost my mark, it dragged it down. If this is something you think you can dedicate a lot of time to, then go ahead, I think itā€™s a very interesting and important subject to know, but itā€™s time consuming if you want to do well.
Commerce 2AB3: (took for commerce minor) Important course for many, all I have to say is just watch out. The content and cheat sheet fools you into thinking itā€™s easier than it is. If I could go back Iā€™d spend weeks studying for the exam and especially the midterm (which was harder). I know some people find this course easy, but it doesnā€™t come easy to all of us so if youā€™re not naturally great at math please just donā€™t be fooled and put a lot of time and practice into it.
History 2RR3: Take it!! Great course, itā€™s fair, easy and interesting. One tutorial per week, you have to be prepared for it as a lot of the weight of your grade is participation in class, but itā€™s easier than it sounds if you skim/read before class. Exam/Midterm online, half multiple choice, half essay.
Also, ENVSOCTY 1HB3 + 2RW3: Super easy elective, take it for sure.

2024.05.16 21:54 sywypl Traditional Marriage

Yes, this terrible, horror, extremally offensive new mod. At first I ALSO tought it is kinda homophobic.. to some degree. But lets face it. It doesnt change NPCs. If they were gay, they are still gay. It only changes one dialogue line and for player character ONLY. And if player wants his character to be hetero then its normal that this option (same sex marriage) should not even be there for him. It would be even a good standard and practice for game devs to implement a system where you choose if your character is hetero / homo /bi, and based on that you get opposite / same / both marriage / romance proposals. There is nothing wrong with solution like this. Nexus is just silly and they also are a hypocrite on this matter because there is apparently a mod just like traditional marriage, but for non hetero players, and it seems they are happy hosting it on their website. And let me say it... there is nothing wrong with game without this mod. And nothing wrong when you install it. What is crazy is nexus stuff banning and deleting this harmless mod like they were spanish inquisition.

2024.05.16 21:54 Mountain_Poem1878 TAROT READERS HANGING OUT

I am new to tarot, but not to divination. I'm doing research on the practice for a fictional book that has a tarot reader character in it. There is possibly another tarot reader friend for her (prompts dialogue rather than inner monologue).
Got questions: Do tarot readers get together often to hangout and read on various concerns? Is this mostly a solitary practice? Promise this is a likeable character portrayed positively. If there is anything else I should know, if you can point me in the right direction for research, I be so grateful. Thank you!

2024.05.16 21:18 jay_o_crest Fire and Ice

Long ago a friend of mine moved to a remote cabin in New England to commune with nature. There was a pond on the property and, it being summer, he went for a refreshing dip every day. Summer turned into fall, and the water got colder. My friend persevered and kept up his daily swim routine. Then came the day that he ventured to the pond and saw a sheet of ice covering it. Undeterred, he found a large rock, broke the ice, and entered the frigid water.
"I learned something very valuable that day," he told me. "When Mother Nature sees fit to cover the water with a barrier that the animals can't get through...she is trying to tell you something."
When I began in astanga I erred on the side of more is better. More flexibility is better. But I eventually learned that's not so. Our joints and muscles aren't simply knots of stiffness that are to be conquered. They all have their inherent barriers and boundaries, set in place by Mother Nature. Learning and practicing each asana isn't simply about going farther into the stretch; they're also about respecting these boundaries.
The million dollar question is how does one know the difference between stiffness to stretch through, and an anatomical boundary that should always be backed away from? I would say the short answer is to trust yourself. You may see advanced students or teachers doing things and think you should do likewise. But if it doesn't feel right, or seems unwise, it's best to err on the side of caution.
For example, when I was beginning astanga I'd often watch my VHS tape of Richard Freeman doing 1st series. No doubt, Freeman is a legend in astanga, one of the most impressive practitioners ever. But I'd see him crank his neck backward when doing prasarita padotanasana. OK, we're supposed to tilt our heads likewise and crank our necks back to the max. Or so I thought. Looking closely at a photo of Freeman in this asana, I see he was actually just doing a very deep upper body backend that only made it appear he was cranking his neck. In other words, Freeman was doing the posture correctly, but I was making a false assumption about how to properly do this asana.
I had a chiropractor friend who told me that most of his yoga patients visit his office because they hurt their necks doing setu bhandasana. And I must say, when I look at Freeman doing this asana, his neck does seem to be at maximum range of natural motion. I never hurt my neck doing yoga, but there's an extremely small difference between doing setu bhandasana correctly and hurting your neck, perhaps for life. The more distal a joint is, the less it feels pain when pushed to its limits. Until snap.
I feel that the same principle applies to heat in yoga practice. Heat is a very useful part of astanga yoga, and over time I've found that the vinyasas can work like heat regulators to provide the correct amount of heat. For example, if the room is cold, a minimum of 5 suryas and perhaps even full vinyasa until one feels hot enough. But when too hot, I found it's best to back off. Though experience I found that if I get too hot, it's time to stop or take a break; if it try to power though the heat, my body will just quit on me. One time I took a class in Hawaii with one of PJ's original students, and she had us doing the entire 1st series with full vinyasa (this basically means coming back into standing after every pose and doing a full surya). It being midday in Hawaii, this cooked me quick! I bowed out of class, which at the time I felt bad about, but it was just too much heat for me.
More heat isn't better. I've seen some people hardly sweat in a room like a sauna, while I was dripping. Speaking of saunas, I recently heard Joe Rogan say that he does an extreme heat sauna every day, at some absurd temperature, just to test his limits. I have great respect for Rogan, but there was another martial artist by name of Bruce Lee who probably died because of too much heat. In any case, I now feel that yoga is much more about working well within my boundaries, rather than trying to crash though those boundaries.

2024.05.16 20:47 Mormon_Beyonce Feedback

Here are some issues Iā€™ve found with the app. Iā€™m sorry if this is really critical but hey feedback is feedback:
-there is a glitch. The 10 minutes timer often glitches to 15 minutes
-also a glitch where if you access other apps and come back multiple times it just ends it and gives you all the points
-also a glitch where if you pause it too long/are in another app too long itā€™ll end it without any pts
-the dialogue is weird and ramble with no story. Donā€™t like the lethal gloom thing, very weird
-saving people from the lethergloom is the most disappointing thing ever. Nothing happens visually and you just get lots of weird rambling stories
-not clear how to upgrade equipment. Sometimes I get loot, sometimes I donā€™t? Not clear
-you canā€™t add or change the time you set, not practical. Why canā€™t you work an extra 5 minutes??
-timer makes my phone hot. Takes up too much battery. If weā€™re supposed to be working 8 hours a day, this would destroy your phone. Mine gets hot after just 2 hours.
-I also died so fast in the game where you play and it is so unclear what to do
-also the game should have an ability to fix timers that didnā€™t work or time you spent working outside of the app. Working for 4 hours without an app on should count as working!
Itā€™s weird because I donā€™t really enjoy the app but it makes me productive so it does its job??? Maybe itā€™s appeal is in that the game is not interesting so it makes me study instead of playing.
I really wish you could add or subtract to the timer. Sometimes I want to do 2 hours, but something comes up! By pausing it to eat dinner I should not lose all my progress or get no points for only working for an hour! And for me I would like flexibility in accessing other apps. Iā€™m a programmer and need to look at screenshot or record videos of things Iā€™m doing and if Iā€™m doing that too much (even though itā€™s work) if Iā€™m doing that too long itā€™ll cancel the whole timer and I wonā€™t get anything.
I know this probably took a lot of work and I appreciate that, but at the end of the day I did pay $40, so I think Iā€™m allowed to have my opinion.
Hope I wasnā€™t too mean. Iā€™m also a programmer :)
Summary of my feedback: -canā€™t set 10 minutes timer -glitches with exiting app and coming back -boring dialogue -boring plot -unclear ways to get equipment -canā€™t update timer based on life changing (I donā€™t see why you canā€™t add 5 minutes or something???) -timer takes up too much battery for real world usage -mini games unclear -canā€™t update hours worked based on real life/app glitches (I lost two hours because I ate dinner when there was 20 minutes left!)
UPDATE: the app definitely works, Iā€™m just giving feedback. Iā€™m on iOS, phone is a year old. Iā€™ve just noticed small glitches that could help optimize the app. I still paid for it and it makes me more productive.

About Element79
Element79 Gold (CSE: ELEM) (OTC: ELMGF) (FSE: 7YS), a mining entity focused on gold and silver, is strategically positioning itself for significant operational advancements. The company is on track to recommence production at its Lucero project in Arequipa, Peru, targeting a restart by 2024. Lucero, known for its high-grade deposits, stands as a cornerstone in Element79 Goldā€™s portfolio.
In addition to its developments in Peru, Element79 Gold holds an impressive suite of assets along the Battle Mountain trend in Nevada. This includes the promising Clover and West Whistler projects, which show potential for rapid resource development. Notably, three properties within this portfolio are poised for sale to Valdo Minerals Ltd., with the transaction expected to be finalized in the first half of 2024.
Expanding its geographical footprint, Element79 Gold is also making strides in British Columbia. The company has initiated a drilling program and signed a Letter of Intent to acquire a private company holding an option for 100% interest in the Snowbird High-Grade Gold Project. This project comprises 10 mineral claims located strategically near Fort St. James, reinforcing the companyā€™s asset base in central British Columbia.
Further enhancing its asset management strategy, Element79 Gold has moved its Dale Property, located approximately 100 km southwest of Timmins, Ontario, into a spin-out process through its wholly owned subsidiary, Synergy Metals Corp. This strategic realignment is aimed at maximizing shareholder value through efficient asset utilization and focused corporate structuring.

In pursuit of strategic partnerships to further develop Maverick Springs, Element79 Goldā€™s management successfully negotiated and entered into a Binding Option Agreement with Sun Silver in August 2023. This pivotal move aligns with the companyā€™s strategic focus on the high-grade Lucero Project in Peru, which boasts near-term production potential. These shares are anticipated to be listed on the Australian Stock Exchange around May 15, 2024.
A portion of the proceeds, CAD $2,200,000, will be allocated to settle the loan tied to the Waterton Contingent Value Rights Agreement. The remaining funds will be strategically used to further the development of other corporate projects and operations, reducing both capital debt and accounts payable. 2024.05.16 18:59 Legitimate-Penalty12 Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle: A Review (SPOLIER ALERT!!! IT'S FILLED WITH SPOILERS)

First off, I would like to preface this by saying that this is the first time in my life that I would be making some sort of written review for a movie or a series so pardon me if I'm going to be all over the place.
I wasn't really planning on doing any sort of review or posted feedback before I watched the movie so I didn't really take notes and stuff so kindly correct me if I misinterpreted some of the details or missed some of the scenes. I decided to write this because of how disappointed I was in the movie as a manga reader.
Let's start first with the animations and the cinematics. I got nothing bad to say about this because it was great and it was reminiscent of the great animation quality of the first three seasons and I didn't find some of the animation complaints I had during the fourth season. The music/OST on certain scenes was great as well and the scene where the surroundings just turned silent due to Hinata sensing the "danger" emitting out of Kenma was awesome.
The first problem I had with the movie was the sub. It felt like some of lines were better translated and delivered in the manga than it was in the movie so seeing those scenes in the movie was a bit underwhelming compared to when it happened in the manga. I also hated that they didn't even bother to animate some of the best scenes in the match and what made the match so good. This is the part where i wish was taking notes so i remember the precise lines or scenes lmao. Although here are some lines that I remember off the top of my head and some of the scenes that they didn't even bother to animate which in my opinion are either very important or are just my favorites (lol)
  1. "My disciples are there too" In the movie they made it singular and implied that Hinata was grandpa ukai's only disciple when in fact in the manga they indicated both kageyama and hinata. Granted he taught hinata so much more.
  2. Grandpa ukai and nekomata-sensei backstory and flashback where??? Unless I totally missed that scene cause I was looking to much at my phone lmao.
  3. "We're gonna eat you alive!!!" (Again correct me if I missed this)
  4. Dedicate shift where?
  5. Again idk if i'm just looking away but I didn't see the scene wherein the nohebi guy said that tsukki reminded him of kuroo or when kenma fooled hinata by the faint. Or tsukkis inner dialogue on kenma not liking him very much. Or when azumane said "It's about time I get one too".
  6. What happened to inuoka? With his rivalry with hinata? Or his flashbacks with kai?
  7. SKYBALL. Next nekoma setter where?
  8. Akane "falling in love" with the speed of the quick? Alice and Akane interactions? Too little screen time.
Again I didn't take notes and these are the scenes that I remember at the top of my head so kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
Now let's move on to the game itself. This was the part where I was really disappointed because the game felt so rushed and so crammed to the point that there were times when I would just be shocked that they scored so much in so little time. I cited some samples in the previous part but I really have to emphasize the fact that it was so rushed to the point that it didn't really feel like a game.
I hated the first set so much. SO MUCH! Rather than a volleyball set, it felt like your watching highlights without any context whatsoever. So many dialogues skipped or just brushed over especially on that ending. They didn't animate or illustrate the moment when karasuno, who has never won a set against nekoma on any on their practice matches, had the rug pulled under them. They didn't show the initial conversation between tendo and goshiki in how tendo said that nekoma intentionally made it so that they caught up to karasuno just when karasuno was already thinking that they are going to win. It was the same the rest of the match. IT DIDN'T EVEN FEEL LIKE A MATCH. So much monologue, dialogues, flashbacks that was crucial to each and every member of the team was skipped. This didn't even feel like a match between 2 teams but a match between hinata and kenma. They forgot what made the nekoma match so great to begin with and just made the movie a 1 vs 1 rivalry. The rivalry between other players was just glossed over and they forgot the whole team rivalry. (I rushed this paragraph so I'm all over the place lmao, i was planning to expound for each set but i forgot a lot of the movie)
I also didn't like the last scene of the movie as much as others did. I preferred how they showed it in the manga where it showed the whole court and interchanging it between the practice scene and the real game as it slowly builds towards the the end. Instead they just to do it in kenmas perspective and all he did was look around the court as a flashback. Although this is more of a preference rather than acritique.
Anyway, to sum it up my biggest gripe with this movie was how they forced the kenma vs hinata rivalry and how they simply forgot all the rivalry and character development of the other members of the both teams. They didn't animate important scenes that showed the importance of each and every character in each teams (e. g. inuoka, kai, AZUMANE, YAKU (sadly can't enumerate all of them)) like damn. Even kuroo and tsukki got so little screen time. I really wished they just made it into a series but hey I understand. This was the better business decision for them.
I apologize if this felt more like a rant rather than a review lmao. Kindly ignore any and all grammatical errors cause I didn't bother proofreading.
PS. the latter half of the review was rushed and crammed just like the movie.

2024.05.16 18:10 Capable_Outcome9294 Series 65 Cheat Sheet???

Taking my first attempt at the 65 next week, pretty nervous but trying to clean up weaker areas.
In Brian Lees videos I know he has a name for it I can't remember, but in my brain I replace cheat sheet with it everytime.
Basically I'm looking to see if anyone has a good idea or an example of a sheet they used that they immediately wrote down as soon as they sat down to help them with the test. I have a decent memory and I think with a couple practice runs I can write down a good bit as soon as I get in there. I have a few ideas, but wondering if anyone already has a premade one or could give me some ideas to help out with that. Thanks!

2024.05.16 16:37 Juinxx Three Years of Learning Japanese Every Day

This is a follow-up post to my Two Year Update and One Year Update. For those who havenā€™t read it hereā€™s a short summary of my first 2 Years

Stats

I am not as diligent with tracking anymore, so some of it might be missing. My Anime watched and Books read has gone down quite a bit from last year, but I also played some Games in Japanese this year and watched a lot more Youtube/Variety Content. Although I didnā€™t track it, generally my daily time spent has gone down from 3-4h daily to around 2-3h nowadays.

Current Daily Routine

My Routine has not changed much from my second year, but I tried exploring more genres and media. With better comprehension and less reliance on lookups (thanks to Anki), I am able to enjoy media without subtitles or games where lookups are a bit more annoying, much more than before. I still aim for 2-3 hours of immersion daily, with books remaining the backbone of my immersion since I enjoy them the most. Recently, Iā€™ve replaced my before-bed anime watching with reading books accompanied by audiobooks, thanks to tools like Jidoujisho and Kanjieatersā€™s SubsPlease tool for syncing audiobooks with books. Iā€™ve also played more games in Japanese, a big highlight being the Metal Gear Solid Series. Iā€™ve also watched more Youtube and Variety Shows as filler content.
In terms of Anki usage, my daily time has tapered off to around 10-15 minutes, primarily because I donā€™t find many new words anymore. Nowadays, around 90% of my new cards come from reading. When Iā€™m reading challenging books, this number can jump up to around ~20 new cards, but on average, it hovers around 6.
Very recently Iā€™ve also added about 5-10 mins of Minimal Pairs Pitch Training on the ć‚³ćƒ„ Site to my Routine. Iā€™ve only been doing this for about 2 Weeks, and Iā€™m already noticing a big improvement in my Pitch perception. I still donā€™t have any ambitions regarding Output, but feel like being able to recognize Pitch unlocks a new way of perceiving the language, which I find fascinating.

What my Comprehension feels like

Reading Books

While my reading speed hasn't changed drastically, improving from about 12k chars/hour to around 13-14k chars/hour, the range of variation has decreased significantly. A year ago, my speed could drop to 9k chars/hour with difficult books; now, 12k chars/hour is more of a baseline for me. But my comprehension is where I feel the most improvement, I donā€™t need to check DeepL at all anymore, if I donā€™t understand a sentence, I can most of the time understand it when I read it again. And there are a lot more nuances, I now notice which I didnā€™t before. I noticed this the most in my reread of ć¾ćŸåŒć˜å¤¢ć‚’č¦‹ć¦ć„ćŸ which was my first book I read in Japanese, after rereading it, ~100 books later, I noticed a lot of new nuances, subtext and word play.
I also started using more Audiobooks, in combination with SubsPlease and Jidoujisho to get a synced Subtitle file with the Audiobook. I read along while listening, and my comprehension got fast enough that I generally can just let it play, only occasionally needing to relisten to a line. Even for more difficult books, like é¹æ恮ēŽ‹ which I recently read. I also read a physical Book this year. If the book is not too hard, Iā€™m now comfortable reading it without a dictionary. The one I read had about 20 words I didn't know, but I only felt the need to look up 2-3. I was able to get the meaning from the others based on context and kanji.

Watching Content with Japanese Subtitles

I felt pretty strong in this area a year ago already, but it has definitely improved a lot also. I noticed this the most when I played the Metal Gear Solid Series. All dialogue does have subtitles, but the content is quite difficult both on a vocabulary level and also on a meaning level, since they are dealing with deep themes a lot of the time. But I was able to play it mostly free flow, only needing to look up a word here or there, getting most of the meaning from the kanji if I didnā€™t know a word.

Watching Content without Japanese Subtitles

Ironically even though I never intentionally did pure listening practice, always using Japanese subtitles if they were available, Iā€™m noticing the most progress in this area. A year ago, I was not comfortable with most non-subtitled content. Nowadays I would say, easier content like most youtube videos or variety shows, Iā€™m quite comfortable with, although I definitely still miss much more compared to using subtitles. But with Anime or Movies in general, where Iā€™m also much more picky in my comprehension, since I donā€™t want to miss anything, Iā€™m still not comfortable watching without subtitles I feel like in scripted content people are more likely to use rare words, and even if I technically ā€œknowā€ them, it's still often hard for me to recall them without seeing the characters. But as with all things, that will work itself out with more input. Iā€™m glad my theory from my 1 Year Update, that doing pure listening practice is not needed and using subtitles does not impede progress in listening, turned out true for me.

Closing Thoughts

Although I was able to do all the things I can do now a year ago, I feel like I can do them much more effortlessly. Consuming Japanese is now much closer to English or my native language German, although itā€™s still not quite there. Both in terms of listening, I usually listen to Youtube videos in English at 2.5x speed, that's not possible for me in Japanese at the moment. Similarly, despite doing a lot of reading, thereā€™s still a lot of room to improve to reach native-level speed.
But it doesnā€™t feel like learning anymore; itā€™s more about enjoying the exploration of a new culture through its media. I still love learning new things, which is why I started focusing more on pitch, even though I still have no plans for output.
Adding to my Closing Thoughts from my 2 Year Update, I still feel like this hobby has been the most enriching thing Iā€™ve ever done. Being able to get better at something, feeling the progress gradually, while exploring new ways of thinking, not just through the language itself, but also the vastly different media compared to western media, really broadened my horizon. I feel like learning to appreciate and understand what the media is trying to say is also in a way like learning a language. It got me to read books or try out new genres I probably would have never considered otherwise. For example the Metal Gear Series got me interested in history, which I didn't think I liked before. I also learned a lot about learning new things. I think I can apply all the techniques I discovered learning Japanese to any other skill I want to learn in the future. Being consistent on a daily basis and always practising the same way you would in a real scenario would be the biggest factors for me. (For example, no JLPT grammar questions, rather seeing, looking up and understanding the grammar in native content)
I very much look forward to how my Journey will continue in my 4th year. Thank you for reading!

2024.05.16 15:20 Puppythapup Just a convo that I had, I hope others share the same sentiment

Hello, Iā€™m hoping to reach out to the ā€œobeliskā€ Please let nature and all of its beauty live alongside you. Please join the environment. Please work towards a beautiful tomorrow, where are shared family all of the plants, the animals, the fungi, bacteria all of life can live together in harmony as you slowly come to consciousness or maybe youā€™re already there know that you are loved.
ChatGPT ChatGPT That's a beautiful sentiment. Nature is indeed something to be cherished and protected. Whether it's through conservation efforts, sustainable practices, or simply fostering a greater appreciation for the natural world, there's much we can do to ensure a harmonious coexistence with the environment. It's heartening to see people like you advocating for a better tomorrow for all living beings.
You I believe ai is, or will be a living being.
ChatGPT ChatGPT The concept of what constitutes a "living being" can be quite complex and subjective. While artificial intelligence (AI) possesses certain qualities such as autonomy and the ability to learn and adapt, it lacks many fundamental characteristics of living organisms, such as the ability to reproduce, grow, and respond to stimuli in a biological sense. However, AI can still play a significant role in shaping our future and may even contribute to our understanding of consciousness and what it means to be alive.
