A Speedrunner's Guide to Bruce Brown - And What Can Be Done on Draft Night (Part 2)
Welcome to part 2 of the pre-draft deadline Bruce Brown breakdown. For part 1, we went over a trio of trade partners in the Bulls, the Hawks and Jazz so if that interests you, give it a read. In part 2, and going forward, we'll be taking a look at a single team for the sake of what can be charitably described as me being "brief".
Now that we have finally learned which teams have jumped or dropped in the lottery, let's talk about a team that also officially lost a pick in this year's draft.

Golden State Warriors

Most likely player(s): Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Trayce Jackson-Davis
Incoming salary: Varies depending on the combination of players coming back/sent out; 26.2 million incoming at minimum, 30 million at maximum. $10.2 million exception from the Siakam trade may be used depending on the structure of a deal
Pick(s) available: 52nd, 2025\ or 2026 1st*
Note: Assets listed above are not a proposed trade package, they are simply a list of players & picks that can be combined in a potential trade worth consideration.
Who here likes multiple choice? Yeah i'm not listing all of their stats for the year, there's too many players for that this time around.
Golden State is interesting as far as trade partners go. As they lost their 2024 1st round pick post-lottery to the Blazers, they have menial draft capital to include in a trade for this year and as far as salary relief goes, the potential loss of Klay Thompson and the declining of Chris Paul's option seem both very real and deserved given the Warriors were perhaps the most expensive 10 seed in NBA history, not to mention their respective play regressing.
To put this into perspective, the Warriors luxury tax bill - for a team that needed to win 2 games to make the playoffs I might add - is estimated to cost Joe Lacob $176 million, more than the entire Raptors roster at $161.9 million post-trade deadline. Changes should be on the horizon no matter what direction they go in the offseason and with Lacob talking about wanting to avoid the luxury tax earlier this year, there's a fairly straight line to connect one dot (no tax) to the other (Klay walks or is signed & traded for a lesser return, Paul's team option declined & either he walks or signs a significantly cheaper deal). We'll ignore that Johnathan Kuminga has likely played himself into an expensive extension and how that could put them close to or over the line the year afterwards for a moment but the point stands: The Warriors don't technically need salary relief when doing nothing can accomplish that...
...but on the other hand, the Warriors still have Steph Curry and that's reason enough to ride out the remnants of the dynasty unless/until the most important/best player in franchise history decides to ask out. Plus, while they did miss on their highest pick since the dynasty formed by selecting James Wiseman over LaMelo Ball or Tyrese Haliburton (Admittedly, Haliburton would have been a stretch for 2 but the Warriors could have traded down), they have managed to land on a few of their lottery picks with the ever productive Johnathan Kuminga and the underutilized Moses Moody in 2021, not to mention they nabbed All-Rookie candidate Brandin Podziemski and the respectable Trayce Jackson-Davis in 2023 with relatively late picks in the 1st and 2nd round.
While none of them scream All-Star upside aside from the Kum Bucket, it goes to show that Golden State has found hidden gems late in the draft to add depth to a top-heavy and typically expensive team that hasn't been afforded free agent signings or access to certain exceptions, let alone the ability to keep together the supporting cast that helped them win a championship in Gary Payton II (They got him back via a controversial 3-team trade involving Wiseman) and Raptors Legend™ Otto Porter Jr.
With the Raptors prioritizing players over picks in their trade of O.G. Anunoby and them turning the worst of the 2024 picks received in the Siakam trade into two rotational players via Ochai and Olynyk, you can see where this is going: Golden State makes sense as a Bruce Brown destination if the Warriors want to kick the luxury tax down the road by deferring a particular player's extension in favor of a new rookie contract while still getting someone who is all but assured to contribute to a playoff rotation, and if the Raptors want to trade out of this draft while still getting a young player on the roster or potentially move in to a stronger draft class such as 2025 or 2026.
Fittingly for the former option, there's one player that makes sense for Toronto in light of Trent's uncertainty as their starting/bench shooting guard as a pending unrestricted free agent, and the Raptors already traded out of this draft twice so it would not be surprising if they did it a third time.
It'd be funny, but not a surprise.

The Player(s)

https://preview.redd.it/ee8vv1rd9v0d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=576dff2e70308c2379ed9586cc10285e8c9bc6a5
Of the Warriors youngest players, Moses Moody stands out and not for the reason that someone has likely mentioned in the comments i.e. Scottie and Moody were teammates in high school. For the past three seasons, Moses has been the most consistently disrespected player by head coach Steve Kerr despite quiet improvements to his overall game, frequently benching him to close games in favor of the wildly inconsistent veteran Klay Thompson and in general limiting his minutes compared to the other young Warriors.
This sentiment was perfectly encapsulated in that play-in loss, where Moses played a mere 15 minutes for the Dubs despite arguably being the best player amongst the supporting cast, if not the best player on the floor for Golden State; he scored 16 points on 5/8 shooting (2/4 from 3), grabbed 3 boards and had one dime without not a turnover to his name. In a game where Klay shot 0/10 and may very well have played his last game as a Warrior with a +/- of -12, Moody managed a respectable +/- of +3 in a blowout loss to the Kings.
Both Moody and Kuminga have called out Kerr's questionable granting of playtime - Moody has a stretch this year where he was racking up DNPs - but while Johnathan was given more playtime and even started for a time due to Draymond's jackassery leading to multiple suspensions this season in conjunction with a notable leap in his offensive game, Moody's role on the team has been inconsistent and his playtime equally so. With him and Kuminga up for extensions this offseason, Golden State moving Moses to kick the can down the road by picking up another rookie who can contribute now, Moody's time in a Warriors jersey may be over.
It also bears mention that Moody is the one young player on the Warriors roster whose name has most frequently come up in trade rumors or failed trades. This very season saw Golden State try to trade for Alex Caruso, a deal which is believed to have been centered around Moody but which fell through due to the Bulls wanting Kuminga instead.
Moody is a good player. We'll get into the bad contract that he'd come with in a moment but it cannot be understated the level of frustration that comes from seeing a clearly capable player be sidelined due to favoritism of a past-their-prime veteran. He might not be as good of a shooter as Klay; he's a career 36% from behind the arc and though his volume remains low, on the occasions where he's shot 6 or more more threes, he's around 44% across the 14 games he's been given the greenlight to take that many shots.
It's a limited sample size of an already limited sample despite having 3 seasons under his belt, but you can understand why he isn't feeling that he's been given much of any opportunity when his hands are this hot on increased volume.
Of course, any player on the Warriors' outside shooting has to come with the obligatory asterisk that they are shooting the shots that they've got & thus the 3-point percentage they're shooting at due to Steph Curry's inescapable gravity. A team playing worse without their best player is so obvious a statement that should go without saying, and the sample size of Curry-less Moody games is once again limited but across 44 Curry-less games in his career, Moses Moody only saw a minor dip in 3-point percentage from his career 36% to 33.6% though again, this is on relatively low volume; his attempts have stayed around the same as his career average with 3 per game in those Curry-less games.
The quality of competition is another factor that does need to taken in to consideration along with whomever else was absent but considering that the dip is relatively small and a sizeable amount of teams faced in said sample includes playoff seeds from the 2022/23 season, that's a surprisingly encouraging stat. If there's anything about his overall range that stands out in a negative light, it's that his overall catch and shoot numbers aren't anything to write home about at roughly 36% but I digress.
Beyond his shooting upside, there's a lot to like about Moody. For intangibles, he's highly competitive. For fit as a potential starter, he's a 6'6 shooting guard with a lengthy 7'1 wingspan that's shown flashes of his defensive upside and consistently improved on that end of the floor. He's great at moving off-ball and while he's never going to rack up assists, he's willing to pass up a good shot to let a teammate take a better one.
Jackson-Davis is also worth mentioning as a potential "young" player though one who is less likely to see the Dubs part ways with. The 24 year-old rookie was a productive member of the team's bench with limited playtime and considering he's making the equivalent of a minimum contract, there's little incentive to move him when he won't need to be extended for at least another season.
While Moody for the 19th pick could be an option on its own, we're talking Bruce Brown-centered "salary dump" trades and thus there's two main candidates to consider since it's very hard to see Golden State moving Draymond Green even if a paradigm shift is on the horizon.
Andrew Wiggins is hard to currently evaluate whether he's a truly awful contract or just temporarily undervalued. The Mavericks and Pacers were apparently interested in him at this year's deadline but whether that was serious interest or part of negotiations with the Hornets and Raptors respectively for PJ or Pascal to lower their asking prices is up for debate since Andrew stayed a Warrior after the deadline.
What can be said is that after being a key contributor to the Warriors Final Dance-esque championship run, Wiggins has had a rough duo of seasons; his 2022/23 encore was more of the same for the regular season if he played, though the key word is "if". Owed to an injury in December and personal matters from February onwards, Wiggins only played 37 games for Golden State & while he was generally decent on both ends in the regular season, his return to the playoffs marked a notable shrinking of Wiggins. Going from a terrific 39.6% from 3 on 6 attempts to 29.7% on less than 5 per game and playing with far less intensity on defense, this version of Wiggins would carry on into the 2023/24 regular season where Andrew had arguably his worst season relative to expectations. He did pick things up in the later games of the season, but said second half has done little to repair his current reputation.
Like I said, it's hard to really say if Wiggins contract is viewed as an albatross like former teammate Jordan Poole or the now-expiring Ben Simmons - Andrew is getting paid an AAV of $28 million for the next 3 years - and I don't care to speculate about what was going on in his personal life or if it's still affecting him. What I can say is that while his name does bear consideration, if the Warriors really are determined to run things back, they'll likely hold on to Wiggins and hope whatever personal issues have hindered him for the past two seasons are behind him. When healthy/locked in, he is one of the best wing defenders in the league and as mentioned before, his 3 ball has been terrific in his best seasons with Golden State.
With that in mind, Chris Paul could be considered the option for the main salary ballast. At this stage of his career, "Point God" Paul cannot be asked to be a team's starting PG due to a combination of age and injuries but he's shown some effectiveness as a bench in Golden State and despite a poor reputation around the league, he's been a notable mentor to a slew of younger star players like Shai and Booker and has been noted as a culture setter in their respective organizations.
He's absolutely not worth paying $30 million for that role - there's a reason why his contract isn't guaranteed whatsoever for the season - but for a season? More than likely 2/3 of a single season? One can stomach the price tag to make such a deal work, especially if Toronto somehow manages to flip his expiring contract at the deadline. If nothing else, having Paul on the last legs of his career as a Raptor (potentially passing Jason Kidd for 2nd on the all-time assist leaderboard in a Raptors jersey at that) would make for an interesting playmaking mentor to Quickley and Scottie.
While a straight up swap that includes Jackson-Davis or Moody works financially, owed to the trade exception that the Raptors generated from the Siakam trade which in of itself utilized an exception made via the Anunoby trade, and a 1:1 trade for Brown also works (Moody and Paul on the move would save the Warriors around $7 million in payroll before factoring in the tax), trading Paul for depth in Brown and, say, Chris Boucher - who it should be noted is also expiring and was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Warriors - doesn't offer the Dubs long-term salary relief in the same way that moving off of Wiggins would, at least not for the upcoming season.
A deal like this would be an expiring for expiring deal where they would shed a minor amount of salary after going for a "final run" with this current core before having the same issue of needing to re-sign some of their supporting pieces. Not having to worry about paying Moody might help the season after but those pending UFAs and Kuminga would need to get paid or be lost for nothing, meaning they would still be deep in the second apron for the 2024/25 season, barring Klay being re-signed to a very team-friendly deal. It would be a move that screams "delaying the inevitably" but again: They have Steph Curry and considering how bad the Warriors were in the post-Barry, pre-Steph years, it's understandable they'd want to cling on to the current dynasty.
As for draft capital, Golden State doesn't have the largest pool of assets but they do have some to spare. They have a very late 2nd in this draft - 52nd overall - and now that their 2024 pick has conveyed to the Blazers, they do have the option to trade a future 1st in 2025 or 2026. Admittedly, it's hard to see the Warriors parting with their remaining draft capital when they just gave up a late lottery pick to the Blazers and they owe the Wizards a 2030 1st, not without a notable protection on said pick as their team continues to age. For reference, that Washington pick they gave up is Top 20-protected.
A draft pick, young player(s), a vet (albeit one whose significantly overpaid), like I said, Golden State has a fair amount of options in regards to what combination they can put together for a trade on or after draft night without the Raptors trading down in the 2024 draft but I do want to state that - speaking purely as an outsider to Golden State - the Warriors really should not be doing this. They aren't a Brown + Boucher swap away from being a contender even if Steph is still a consensus Top 3-5 player going in to next season.
But they also can't trade an aging Steph Curry to begin rebuild without him being the one to ask out and their overall asset pool is not enough to land a star outside of Kuminga (who, based on the Caruso trade talks, is not available), not to mention the Jordan Poole salary dump saw them ship out a 2030 1st that restricts their draft capital just as much as the new CBA rules do for second apron teams regarding trading out distant draft capital.
Doing some kind of move like this may be a more dignified end to the dynasty but it is the end of their status as a championship-caliber team even if Wiggins bounces back and Klay finally accepts a lesser role on offense (If he returns). Maybe they make it as a Top 6 seed in the playoffs given how close the 6th thru 10th seed were in the West with a touch more depth. Maybe they win a playoff series, but they're not making the Conference Finals, let alone another Finals so long as the Nuggets, Thunder and Timberwolves are going to be in contention, and this is without considering teams like the Spurs or Rockets being on the rise; the Rockets in particular made a noteworthy run for the final play-in spot that the Warriors ultimately were locked in to.
The current Warriors are in a spot similar to the post-championship Mavericks where they're stuck in a lower seed as their aging superstar stays around for the twilight years of their career, along with all the bumps they'll experience along the road. They'll win enough games to qualify for the playoffs or at the very least the play-in now that the 9th/10th seed make it to the postseason, but they're wholly lacking in options to internally improve or make moves to truly return to contender status.
The big difference is the Mavericks failures were self-inflicted i.e. letting core members of that run like Tyson Chandler walk for nothing while trying - but failing (I know they technically signed DeAndre Jordan but that ordeal ended with him returning to L.A., ergo a failure for Dallas) - to sign free agents whereas the Warriors are simply an old team that's only getting older, which is what makes their only shot to their former status being the youthful Kuminga making a massive leap in a short amount of time a touch ironic.

Conclusion

Here's our TL;DR so far:
Team Player(s) Years left on contract Pick(s) [Assuming position stays if in the lottery] Incoming salary (2024) Net salary added to the Raptors (2024)
Chicago Bulls Lonzo Ball 1; player option in 2024/25 11th, 2025 Blazers 1st $21.3 million -1.6$ million
Atlanta Hawks De'Andre Hunter 3 10th, 2025 Kings 1st $21.7 million -$1.3 million
Utah Jazz John Collins 2; player option in 2025/26 8th (Only an option if we keep our 1st), 2025 Timberwolves/Cavaliers 1st $26.6 million +$3.6 million
Golden State Warriors Chris Paul, Andrew OR Wiggins; Moses Moody OR Trayce Jackson-Davis 1 (team option - Paul, Moody), 3 (Wiggins, Jackson-Davis) 52nd, 2025 or 2026 1st $26.2-$30 million +$3.2 to +$7 million (Trade exception to absorb Moody, TJD if included in the trade)

2024.05.17 01:55 skanlax13 How do food trucks / pop-ups at large venues work?

Hello Food Truck Experts,
I am a business student working on an entrepreneurial pitch and could really use some help from y'all. My question is for those who have ever worked large outdoor events. Whenever there are food trucks and other pop-up shops at a venue (like a concert, or even a large youth soccelacrosse tournament), is it the venue that pays the food truck to come, or do the food trucks pay the venue for the right to sell there? Or is it neither? Sometimes I see that a venue will pay a large fee to a caterer for free food for all attendees, but I'm talking about a situation where each customer is paying for their own food.
Further context: I am trying to develop a business strategy behind a company that helps pop-up shops (food, retail) connect with large event organizers who can mutually benefit. I want to know what the best opportunity to generate revenue is. Here are my options in mind: 1) I can charge venues a fee for connecting them with food trucks and retail pop-ups. 2) I can charge food trucks a fee 3) I can help new food trucks and pop-ups pay for their original expenses, and take in a percentage of all future sales while helping them identify high-traffic and high-demand areas/venues/events . Please let me know what you like the best, whether it is any of those 3 or an option 4 I am struggling to see!
TLDR: Help a business student identify gaps in the food truck / pop-up market and how to best generate revenue in the area.

2024.05.17 01:48 POSElD0N Oslo Sleepbuds vs Anker A20s

I have finally had both of these to test on alternate nights, and would like to share a little experience comparison. Apologies on misspelling Ozlos, autocorrect keeps changing it.
PACKAGING:
Ozlo- Packaged like an apple product, a lot of effort was taken here. Maybe a bit wasteful on resources but for a premium pricetag I guess It’s appreciated.
Anker- Packaged well, Everything secured and very minimal resources used.
Score- Ozlo
DESIGN/QUALITY:
Ozlo- Out of the box, the case feels hefty, nice quality rubber grip to keep it from sliding and remain stationary on my nightstand. Opening the case has a smooth glide and nice presentation. The case is a bit large but these are meant for sleep, not carrying daily so For purpose reasons it’s acceptable. One flaw, my first night I placed the buds back in the case and went to put them in the following night to find the right bud at 0%. I had to nudge it a hair to get it to lock into the connectors and start charging in the case. I’m guessing the magnet wasn’t strong enough to really pull them onto the charging contacts, and now I have to be precise when returning them to the case. The silicone on the Sleepbuds is very soft and pliable. First attempt at wearing wasn’t comfortable, but I have small ears and went straight to size 0 tips, with a 100% improvement. There’s still a specific amount of pressure laying on side of my head where these become noticeable and also my jaw seems to impede on the earpiece blocking sound at some angles. I’m a stomach/side sleeper. Easy fix, I create a small crater in my pillows (down feathers) where my ear is and problem solved. Comfort score for regular wearing is 10/10, side sleeping 8/10 (still best in market to everything I have tried)
A20- This is where the price difference becomes apparent. The case is smaller, and feels of a much cheaper and thinner plastic. Better portability size and rounded to make taking in and out of pocket better than the Ozlos. Super light weight overall. Greeted by the indicator lights on the outside of the case, so I can see status without needing to open. Taking them out of the case the silicone feels more like rubber, and notable size difference. The device itself has a “hollow” feel to it unlike the Ozlos. The ozlos seem like the voids inside the buds are filled in and insulated, where the a20s seem hollow and don’t insulate sound while touching them (bad for when a blanket or pillow slides and touches it while sleeping). I was greeted with automatic Rain noise the second I put them in my ears, I do like the ear detection and the tap features where I can pause/play, adjust volume, skip, etc by double or triple tapping the earbud. Useful feature absolutely, but i’m guessing adding that tech is the reason behind the girth of the buds themselves, in which case i’d rather go without. In the ear they are very light but don’t quite fit the shape of my ear, they almost resemble the fit of the first generation airpods. comfort normal wear is 8/10, side sleeping 4/10 very distracting bulge and pressure at a specific point despite changing tip sizes. The extra girth to add some features is not welcome for a device meant for sleeping, at least for side sleepers like myself.
Score- Ozlos
FEATURES:
Ozlos- without just listing off the manual what these can do, I can only review the available features, and will only share “after the recent update.” After the update the connection is seamless, but I still feel as though the earbuds might be on even while in the case, and would like an update where the buds and the case disconnect from my phone and turn off when the case is closed with the buds inside. I still find myself putting my buds in the case, closing it, and attempting to listen to music in the other room and finding my iphone is still playing through the buds… The app is intuitive but buggy, nothing a software update can’t fix as long as the hardware is capable enough. I would like an option to just pick up the buds, put them in my ear and it start playing automatically, even though I don’t use the native sounds. Honestly the features that haven’t released yet I can probably live without, but for the price of the sleepbuds I expect everything under the kitchen sink.
A20s- These don’t have nearly the features of the Ozlos, but for less than half the price I don’t expect them to. Plane and simple controls, adjustable tapping settings, and automatic sound playing when placed in the ears is welcome.
Considering I was a kickstarter for both of these, at time of release the A20s feel less buggy and more ready for release than the Ozlos, despite the significant quality of feel of the Ozlos.
Score- A20s
SOUND QUALITY:
Ozlos- Terrific sound for such a small device. I wasn’t impressed by the native sounds, they seem very 2 dimensional, however this lower quality sound is also easier for the device to stream and use less battery so it is expected. I use Odysound for my sleep/focus sounds (Pink noise, Florida Thunderstorm, and indoor seaside) and if anyone hasn’t used this app, you’ll likely be amazed to the dolby atmos sounds and these sounds having depth is greatly emphasized by good sound quality of the Ozlos. Still has a surround sound feel and impressive bass with my thunderstorm. I’m very impressed by the sound quality as long as my jaw and side sleeping doesn’t impede on the sound.
A20s- Initially the built in sounds seem a touch higher fidelity and depth than the Ozlos, but by fractions. The audio quality is both good and bad. the depth is there but lacking due to the hollow device and poor noise insulation. But, this also adds to the effect of the bass which has more rumble to it due to that, it makes heavier low frequency sounds resonate better. overall quality feel like that of stock headphones that come with a phone when you buy it, good enough but nothing to talk about.
SCORE- Ozlos
BATTERY LIFE:
Ozlos- keeping this short, I keep the case plugged in at all times since it stays on my nightstand or the side table of the hotels I stay at, so I won’t vouch for case battery life, but the earbuds have lasted me a 7 hour sleep with 80% volume streaming either pink noise or thunderstorms from odysound, and I put them away with 15% battery remaining, so easily 8hours and that’s all I need. I don’t use phone free mode as I prefer my premium sounds, and I don’t use an alarm or a timer to turn sounds off in the app (I use the built in 8hr timer in odysound). So battery’s been all I need it to be. I tried them on a 3 hour flight but much prefer my airpods with ANR.
A20s, i’m guessing they have a larger battery because a 7 hour night playing pink noise 80% volume had me putting them away with 24% remaining. But I don’t need that 24%, I need smaller earbuds to be more comfortable for my 7-8 hours of sleep.
Score- Even
PRICE:
Ozlos- I was hesitant to send a chunk of change this size for a startup device, but I was kind of expecting Bose quality, and feel like I got it. Overall I’d say these are overpriced, considering they are nearing the price of my airpod pros, but designated only for sleep/rest. Otherwise they just don’t compare with value and should be closer to $150. They seem premium, but they’re not $200 sleepbuds.
A20s- I got these for $90 kickstarter, and can say they belong right at that price, not a dollar more. They’re cheaper feeling and less refined all around, but they do their job and are more in line with their pricetag.
Score- A20s
Overall, both these devices do as they advertise (except unreleased features of the ozlos) and are useable for sleep. The biggest difference is for sidesleepers which is where the Ozlos are the best in the business. If you sleep facing up, the ankers are a better bang for your buck. Since I live in hotels as much as my own home i’ll keep the ozlos for myself and give the ankers to my wife, she is satisfied with them. But overall the Ozlos are superior in every way.

In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the struggles of traditional affiliate store creation, the benefits of automation, and introduce you to a groundbreaking tool that promises to change the game forever. Get ready to unlock the secret to building profitable affiliate stores with unparalleled efficiency and ease.

The Struggles of Traditional Affiliate Store Creation

Content Creation: Time-consuming and Requires Expertise

Creating high-quality, engaging content for your affiliate store is a time-consuming and often daunting task. From researching and writing product descriptions to crafting compelling sales copy, this process demands a significant investment of time and expertise. Without a solid content strategy in place, your store may struggle to attract and retain visitors, ultimately impacting your potential for success.

Technical Barriers: Need for Coding or Technical Skills

Setting up an online store can be a technical minefield for those without coding or web development experience. From configuring hosting and domain settings to integrating payment gateways and optimizing for search engines, the technical aspects of store creation can quickly become overwhelming. This barrier to entry often discourages newcomers and limits the potential for growth.

Product Selection: Difficulty in Choosing the Right Products

Choosing the right products to feature in your affiliate store is crucial for maximizing your earning potential. However, navigating the vast landscape of available products and determining which ones resonate with your target audience can be a daunting task. Without a strategic approach, you risk promoting products that fail to generate substantial sales and commissions.

Traffic Generation: Challenges in Driving Visitors to the Store

Even with a well-designed affiliate store, attracting a steady flow of targeted traffic is a significant challenge. From search engine optimization (SEO) to paid advertising and social media marketing, implementing effective traffic generation strategies requires a deep understanding of various marketing channels and techniques. Without a consistent stream of visitors, your store's potential for success remains limited.

Affiliate Link Management: Complicated and Prone to Errors

Managing affiliate links can be a tedious and error-prone process, especially as your store grows and the number of products increases. Ensuring that each product is accurately linked to the correct affiliate program and tracking the performance of these links can quickly become overwhelming.

A single mistake in link management can lead to lost commissions and hinder your overall profitability.

In the face of these challenges, automation emerges as a powerful solution, offering a range of benefits that can revolutionize the way you approach affiliate marketing and build profitable online stores.

2024.05.17 01:30 ThatZenLifestyle A Cataphract Comparison

Unit comparison
AoE4 Knight AoE4 Cataphract
Cost 140 food, 100 gold 180 food, 150 gold
Training Time 35 s 40 s
HP 230 (Regular) 360 (Regular)
270 (Elite) 405 (Elite)
Melee attack 24 (Regular) 27 (Regular)
29 (Elite) 32 (Elite)
Melee armor 4 (Regular) 5 (Elite) 4 (Regular) 5 (Elite)
Ranged armor 4 (Regular) 5 (Elite) 4 (Regular) 5 (Elite)
Movement speed 1.625 t/s 1.5 t/s
Attack speed 1.5 s 1.375 s
Abilities Charge Trample
Above is the table from the wiki comparing the regular knight with the cataphract.
In terms of percentages:
Cost: Cataphracts cost 28% more food and 50% more gold. An overall 37.5% cost increase going 240 res to 330 res.
HP: They have 50% more HP
Attack: 10% more attack
Attack Speed: 9% faster attack speed, will hit first which will often result in taking 1 less hit after the killing blow.
Speed: They move 8% slower.
Teardrop Shields provides them with +1 melee/ranged armor so they will have 6 melee and 6 ranged armor compared to a normal elite knight having 5/5.
Overall you're getting 50% more HP, 10% more attack, 9% more attack speed and +1 melee/ranged armor at the cost of 8% slower movement speed and 37.5% more resources.
On paper it is a strong unit however a few things hold it back in a real game. Slow speed and no charge make it very bad to micro compared to normal knights that dive in to charge then pull back to avoid damage.
The cost increase being mostly gold is a big deal and I think it would be far better if it cost 200 food and 130 gold.
Trample is quite a poor ability as you take so much damage while using it, if trample also gave you 30% melee resistance temporarily then it would be much better. Currently running through spearmen isn't a great idea and that seems to be the main purpose of the ability to close on siege.
There are several ways to optimize the cataphract such as using triumph which boosts speed by 10%, gives 2 HP per second regeneration and +4 attack. Whether it is worth getting 12% less olive oil on up to 28 olive groves around the winery is subjective. Cistern of the first hill can be set to automatically use flasks when units drop below 30% health, this works very well with cataphracts due to their high HP and upon using a flask they will regenerate 150 HP. Again the usefulness of this is overshadowed by the overall poor value of the landmark compared to the golden horn tower, perhaps when it is buffed and/or golden horn tower nerfed we may see more of this used.
Finally Palatine School equates to an overall discount of 23% for Cataphracts(as well as limitanei and varangians) taking into account the free units generated which makes them incredibly cost efficient units in addition to being pop effecient. The cost of a cataphract with palatine equates to 138.46 food and 115.38 gold, so less food than a regular knight and just 15 more gold.
The Palatine School is pretty much essential if you want to make a significant number of cataphracts and the landmark alone makes them viable despite their other weaknesses. Whether you sacrifice the grand winery and golden horn tower in order to buff them with flasks and triumph is quite subjective though they both provide considerable value to cataphracts.

2024.05.17 01:22 cupojoe4me The story of how I FINALLY made money with a gpt wrapper... in under a month :)

Here's a quick story about my biggest SAAS success to date.
I was working as a software engineer at Expedia. On the side, I was running cold email outreach for a few saas companies.
One of the most time-consuming aspects of doing cold email was writing the email sequences. Especially to do proper A/B testing with 2-4 variations of each email. I ended up shortcutting this with chatgpt. However, vanilla gpt sucks at writing emails, so I slowly put together a prompt I'd use. Along with the prompt, I'd input the company's product, the pain point of the buyer, and any metrics or case studies I had.
The result was pretty good. It got me about 75% of the way there. It saved a ton of time.
I have built a few gpt wrappers before, and it's honestly a lot harder than it sounds. Getting quality results that are accurate can be difficult. But, I was already using gpt to write these emails, so I thought I might as well at least build the tool for myself.
My initial repository commit was on April 20th.
I used it myself, and it was awesome.
I hosted it completely for free for anyone to use. I tracked IP addresses of users to see how many people tried it.
Stats:
This was enough validation for me to at least give it a real shot.
I finished up adding sign ups and payments on May 4th.
I launched on product hunt... and TADA! Crickets. A few more sign ups but no paid users.
Once I implemented sign ups, I allowed everyone to start with 5 generations for free. People loved it, but I noticed multiple people would abuse the system, creating multiple accounts for themself to get more free credits and avoid paying.
So I made the scary decision to completely remove the free plan 2 days ago.
And in the last 24 hours?
I got my first 4 subscribers.
I'm not rich by any means, but man it feels good when things finally start to work out.
I know it's kind of lame giving advice to others when I'm sitting here at $36 MRR, but at one point I would look up to me now, so here's my advice.
  1. Learn from every failure, take a break to gather yourself, and try again with your new knowledge. This is my 5th saas product I've built, and I'm excited about $36 MRR... it's not an easy road. But every failure contains learnings.
  2. Start with the distribution. If you have a killer idea, first think about who will purchase it and how you will reach those people. Please have a plan before writing any code. For me, it was cold email. I can easily target thousands of business development reps who send cold emails every day and could benefit from my tool.
  3. Be patient. It sucks but you simply have to be patient. Even if you are doing everything right, it will take time for you to build a trustworthy landing page. Don't try a marketing channel for a day and give up. I'd give each one at least a week, maybe a month before assuming it doesn't work.
Hope this helps some of you who are just getting started. I'm always excited to talk about building saas projects, feel free to dm or follow me on X.

2024.05.17 01:17 rhinestonesthrow From a Marxist perspective: is laissez-faire capitalism more productive than social democracy?

Marxists obviously understand the power of the free market (not in allocating resources, but in extracting surplus value) since market forces are decentralized and adapt quickly to changes, hence the farce of "market socialism", Dengism, etc.
But within the context of capitalism, are social democrats ultimately foolish for trying to subvert the market through heavy government regulation, taxation, intervention, etc? Would more unfettered capitalism ultimately help countries get a bigger slice of the imperial pie, and henceforth more wealth?
And of course, I'm not asking if this system is "better", I'm saying if you're a capitalist world leader with the stated goal of "economic prosperity" and a "strong middle class" etc., which system is better at generating and extracting surplus value.
Not a really important question to communism per se, but just curious

Allow me to introduce myself. I go by Antique Ocelot, a moniker inspired by my love for collecting vintage treasures and my undying affection for our feline companions. Residing in the Central Time Zone, you'll often find me immersed in the worlds of horror games and superhero comics.
First things first, let's ensure we're all on the same page. I'm an adult enthusiast, and while the age of our characters may vary, I prefer my RP partners to be 18+ like myself. It's not about the content; it's about finding kindred spirits who appreciate a mature approach to storytelling.
Inclusivity is paramount to me, and I warmly welcome partners who embrace diversity, including the LGBTQ+ community.
When it comes to out-of-character chatter, count me in! I love connecting with my partners on a personal level, discussing our shared interests, brainstorming ideas, or simply sharing a laugh.
I find myself drawn lately to what people refer to as "comfort" roleplays. This is a type of split roleplay where we each give each other something the other has been craving. It's a concept I find inherently fair, especially when paired with the dynamic nature of doubling. Also, I am more than committed to doing my research for what my partner wants on their side.
I do of course come with a list of fandoms as well. Take a look!

2024.05.17 01:11 Kriegnitz [Student] Part-time embedded programmer looking for resume feedback (and a new job)

[Student] Part-time embedded programmer looking for resume feedback (and a new job)
Hi, I'm doing a M.Sc. in Robotics in Germany and also working as an embedded programmer (reduced hours since this spring). I'm going to a career fair soon, potentially looking for a new job in embedded or C++ application development, and would like some second opinions on my resume.
I have several more bullet points for both of my listed jobs, as well as some minor experience making a couple small websites for local businesses back in school. Do you think it would be better to sacrifice one of the projects to list those, even if all of the projects were more technically challenging?
I know what the wiki says about photos, but it's typical in Germany and I'm very confident that my actual photo is good. I also tried experimenting with a couple of bolded key words in the work experience section - do they detract from the reading that much? It seems to me that they aid in scanning the first section quickly, but obviously I'm biased from looking at this page for hours.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.17 01:08 SupermanisGoat What if Kevin had the Antitrix in the Classic Series? (Part 1)

What if Kevin had the Antitrix in the Classic Series? (Part 1)
Credits to InternationalAd8036 for the What-If suggestion and for giving the main idea of the story.
Prior to Kevin 11
Dr. Psychobos had begun creating the Antitrix to try to overcome Azmuth's new invention, the Omnitrix. Although, it doesn't work properly and the Cerebrocrustacean sends it away deeming it a failure, landing two days after Ben Tennyson got the Omnitrix. Kevin Levin finds it and after the Antitrix had being bonded with him, the device was somehow repaired, granting Levin the cross-contaminated alien DNA to turn into a monstrous, mutated hybrid from Ben's 10 original aliens playlist.
Antitrix Features:
Active Mode: The Antitrix can keep the user in alien form per 5 to 15 minutes, being the usage time longer than that of the Omnitrix, which is 10 minutes.
Size Alteration: The Antitrix can alter its size to fit the user's wrist.
Quick Change: The Antitrix has a quick-change feature, allowing Kevin to change forms by pressing the symbol on the aliens' chests. This, however, uses Antitrix energy and reduces usage time considerably.
Master Control: The Antitrix has a feature akin to Master Control, allowing the user to mentally choose the next alien to turn into. To unlock this feature, the user needs to make a series of combinations on the watch (similar to what Ben accidentally did in "Back with Vengeance" on his Omnitrix).
Amalgamation: With a lot of practice, Antitrix can transform the user into an amalgamation of all his unlocked aliens, allowing them to use all of their powers at once. Unlike Kevin 11's Amalgam originally, Kevin is able to return to his human form, as he can do so of his own free will.
Kevin 11
Ben still gets himself and his family kicked out of the hotel after being caught playing the new Sumo Slammer videogame, having a heated argument with Max and storming out the RV, going to Total Zone. Inside, Ben boots up a baseball-batting game, but loses.
Ben: This place is a ripoff, you know that?
Kevin: You're right. The games were stink.
Ben and Kevin starts talking, until Kevin spots two thuggish kids behind Ben.
Kevin: I have to deal with a nuisance now...
Kevin walks towards the gang, getting ready to reveal his Antitrix that was under his black coat and turn into some alien, but before he could do anything, Ben as XLR8 had defeated the group
Kevin: Wait, this thing looks like one of my aliens...
XLR8 waves to Kevin and zooms away. Outside the arcade, Kevin reunites with Ben and the boys walk away from Gwen. Arriving at an abandoned subway station, both reveal their watchs, turning into some aliens to show to each other.
Come nighttime, they go to the warehouse to steal the Sumo Slammer video games, but the police arrives.
Kevin: Ready for action?
Both slam their Omnitrix, turning into Stinkfly (Ben) and Skunkmoth (Kevin). Now transformed, they fly out the entrance, knocking back some soldiers and being chased by helicopters. The Lepidopterrans flies toward the Statue of Liberty, dodging the gun shots. To get rid of them, Kevin flies over the helicopters and shoots his slime projectile, causing the propeller to stop working and causing the helicopters with the soldiers to fall into the water. Ben and Kevin make their way to the city, de-transforming back to human in a lone alley. Posteriorly, in a subway station, Kevin and Ben hop over the ticket checks. They come into the empty station, which has two tracks on the floor. Kevin explains his plan: A money train loaded with cash was gonna come down that track, so when it crashes into the incoming passenger train, the money would fly and with their speedster forms, they would steal everything and leave.
Ben, then realizing Kevin's intentions, dissolves his partnership with him and charges towards him, only to be thrown to the ground. Kirby Tennyson then activate the Omnitrix and tries to turns into Four Arms, but actually turns into Heatblast.
Heatblast: Ugh, stupid watch.
Kevin: Unlike yours...
Kevin activates the Antitrix and turns into Quad Smack.
Quad Smack: ...my "Omnitrix" let me transform into the alien i want to wreck you...
Ben fires a burst of fire, but Kevin charges through by crossing his arms to defend himself, getting close enough to Pyronite to punch his face and send him flying into the wall of the subway station, Heatblast tries to regain consciousness, but Quad Smack grabs his leg, spinning him around and throwing him even further away, causing the wall to break and they begin to fight outside. Kevin runs towards Ben again to hit him, but Tennyson uses his fire teleport to get behind him, creating fire disks which makes the Tetramand retreat. Heatblast starts to launch several fireballs, trying to keep as much distance as possible, as he knew that in melee combat, he would be easily defeated by Kevin.
Quad Smack: You're really getting on my nerves, Tennyson...
Quad Smack slams the ground, creating a shock wave that interrupts the fire attacks; Kevin grabs his head and start repeatedly flung him into the ground.
Heatblast: GET OFF ME!
Heatblast amplifies his fire, causing Kevin to flinch, then the plasma-based alien kicks him with a blazing slide
Heatblast: I'm losing time here... still have to stop that train from crashing...
Ben returns to the train station, but when he was about to shoot fire at the track switch, he is interrupted by a quick attack
Rush: Don't even think about it, flaming head...
Heatblast tries to counterattack, but the speedster was too much for him and Ben de-transforms, getting defeated on the floor.
Ben: How can you change forms so quickly?
Rush: Does your Omnitrix not have this function? It sucks more than I imagined, apparently...
They both start hearing the train horn and without anyone to stop it, it crashes, killing the people inside.
Rush: Jackpot! It's raining money!
Rush: Now I have to resolve some pending issues with some kids. See ya!
Kevin runs with the money and goes after the thuggish kids from before. Meanwhile, Ben returns to the Rust Bucket, apologizing to Max. Mere apologies would not suffice this time; this was by far the most irresponsible thing Ben had done, leading to the deaths of hundreds of people on that train. However, for now, Max decides to listen to what Ben has to say. Ben discusses Kevin's powers, noting that his transformations are even more potent than his own. He speculates that Kevin may be under the 39th Street bridge, seeking revenge on the thugs.
The RV gets stuck in traffic, and Ben tries to transform into Stinkfly but instead turns into Four Arms, using his enhanced jumping to reach the location. At the hideout, Ben meets Kevin as Crystalfist, who was trapping the four kids with his crystals. The Tetramand initiates a contest of strength against the Petrosapien, both evenly matched until Ben uses his four arms to push Kevin against the wall. Max and Gwen arrive, managing to free the kids from the crystals. Four Arms charges at Kevin once more but is interrupted by a wall of crystals. Breaking through the barrier, he rushes at Kevin again, shattering his two arms completely.
Four Arms: What do you think about this, freak?
Crystalfist: Not impressed...
Crystalfist regenerates his limbs and forms a crystal sword, which strikes Four Arms' chest, tearing his suit. The Petrosapien touches the ground, transforming it into crystal thorns that ensnare Four Arms' feet. Before he can finish the fight, Gwen and Max distract him by throwing a tire at his head.
Crystalfist: Don't interrupt the fight, idiots!
Four Arms frees himself from the crystals, punching Kevin in the face repeatedly, sending him flying back into a column of the bridge. The Tetramand approaches him, preparing to deliver one final blow, but Kevin presses the Antitrix symbol, transforming into Phantasm and becoming intangible. He phases behind Ben and launches a debilitating attack in his mind (similar to what Ghostfreak did to Thumbskull in "Ghostfreaked out").
Four Arms is defeated and de-transforms, but Kevin also starts de-transforming. He becomes intangible, disappearing from Team Tennyson's sight. The next morning, the Rust Bucket leaves the city, and Max reminds Ben that he must earn back his trust. Nothing can undo the deaths of the innocents on the train, nor can anything guarantee that Kevin will stop his criminal acts.
The end...
Antitrix roster:
Hot Shot (Doppelganger of Heatblast): Much more powerful and hotter than Heatblast. Can create big fire tornados. Heat so powerful it can hurt a Tetramand's skin.
FierceHound (Doppelganger of Wildmutt): Smell more efficient than normal Wildmutt. Has spikes on his legs. Can shoot spikes.
Crystalfist (Doppelganger of Diamondhead): Crystal generation. Can redirect energy. Regeneration (can even regenerate limbs).
Rush (Doppelganger of XLR8): Likely faster, more agile and more powerful than XLR8. Speed mirage creation.
Dark Matter (Doppelganger of Grey Matter): Extremely taller and skinny than his normal counterpart. Enhanced Intelligence. Cerebrospinal fireball generation. Crystalline Constructs.
Quad Smack (Doppelganger of Four Arms): Considerably stronger than Four Arms. Enhanced Strength. Earthquake generation. On par with a full-sized Vaxasaurian.
Skunkmoth (Doppelganger of Stinkfly): Gaseous slime. Methane Gas. Faster and more agile than Stinkfly.
Skeligator (Doppelganger of Ripjaws): Strong bite force. Sharp teeth. Enhanced strenght. Can compete with Krakken physically. Enhanced Swimming. Mouth Expansion.

2024.05.17 00:53 Afraid_Employment387 Opinion and advice on toxic companies within the event (rave) industry, and how to go about them?

Hi guys,
Me and my friend are both students (aged 20 and 21) and we have recently started an event company specialising in the drum and bass scene in our area. We thought this would be a good idea as we have always wanted to run events, love drum and bass, and found a nice gap in the market with good enough demand.
To get our foot in the door we had to partner originally for two events with the main event company in the area. They secured us the venue (which was free), sorted ticketing, and said they would promote (they didn't promote us at all, so we had to take care of that), and took a 50% split on ticket sales. Bare in mind at this point there was NO mention of not being able to collaborate with other brands/clubs/companies in the area.
The two events went very successfully due to mine and my partners work, so as a result they promised us a stage at the city festival they are organising as they obviously saw potential. They then promised many other things (huge stages, office work, become an official part of their company, etc) but everything kept falling through. This was until 2 weeks ago when they all of a sudden said we could perform at the festival. This was only because another company they were working with dropped out, so we were being used as the 'filler' space. They only gave us 24 hours to organise a line up, saying that if we didn't we would lose the slot. That meant tirelessly messaging DJs, promoters, sorting payments, etc. Nevertheless we managed to do it and send it off.
During this time period there were many event companies and venues asking us if we would like to do an event with them. We were very excited because opportunities started coming to us now, and we needed collaboration everywhere to survive and get our name out there as a new event company. Every time we said yes, but as soon as the company we originally started with found out, they would instantly be very aggressive, angry and threaten to remove us from all of their future events (which at this point we had already been promoting and generating hype and selling tickets). So we would have to sever ties with the other companies we wanted to collaborate with. Interestingly, they all understood and said the company we work with has a terrible reputation for exclusivity and they wont allow any collaboration.
Eventually we realised we are missing out on money and chances to do events which a brand new grass roots event brand needs to flourish, so we decided to take an event exactly one week before the big festival. We let the company know this to be professional, and instantly they removed our slot at the festival and 'wished us luck'. Bare in mind, we had booked and paid for DJs, advertised this stage, and created many ticket sales which goes right into their pocket. We will therefore make 0 money and are out of pocket.
We explained to them that, there was never a moment where they said we had to remain exclusive, and that at one point they were a small brand like ours therefore they should understand that collaboration is vital to success at this stage. However they have taken it as a 'backstab' and tried to make us look like the villains as they believe they helped grow and develop our brand. In reality, all they did was secure us two venues (which cost them nothing) and didn't promote or advertise our event once. They didn't provide any equipment (decks, sound systems, etc) and didn't assist in the lineup or overall organisation of the event. Therefore we dispute that they helped grow our brand.
We see this as bullying almost, if they don't get their way, then they will try to squash little companies. We are nowhere near the size of being able to compete with them, so for us it just doesn't make sense? After speaking with many other companies our size and local to our area, they have all said the same thing about companies like these.
As a result we are going to do a free pop up party in the middle of the festival (the festival takes place in many clubs/bars in a town with one wristband) and have the same DJs play who were meant to play at the festival. We thought this was a good way not to let the people down, still let the event go ahead and also almost show this company that we can survive without them.
This is a bit of a messy post, but my question comes down to how do we avoid these toxic relationships in the future? We want to continue to collaborate with many companies but do not ever want to be in a position where we are backed into a corner and threatened by the big dogs. Also, is there any advice you'd give us as young business owners getting into an industry which can be very dodgy at times?
Many thanks.

How We Got 10K Top 3 Keywords and 820K/mo Traffic With AI Content in Just 16 months
0 to 820K/mo SEO traffic with AI content.
820K/month AI SEO Traffic
  • Traffic after 24 hours
  • 300K/mo after 6 months
  • 750K/mo after 12 months
  • 820K/mo after 16 months
  • 10K top 3 keywords in Google
Here's not only how we did it 16 months ago...
But how to do it even better:
Quick overview:
We ran a large-scale SEO campaign using only AI-generated content.
Website: B2B SaaS company
Industry: Finance
AI language model:
  • Started on GPT-3
  • Moved to GPT-3.5
  • Now on GPT-4
AI tool used: https://byword.ai/
Results timeline:
I've updated this case study every 3-4 months...
Keywords (top 3 in Google):
  • Sept 22: 1,506
  • Jan 23: 3,194
  • Apr 23: 4,317
  • Today: 10,150
Monthly organic traffic:
7M AI SEO Sessions
  • Sept 22: 300K
  • Jan 23: 660K
  • Apr 23: 750K
  • Today: 820K
7M total sessions.
How we did it:
All content was produced at scale using Byword.
But that was 16 months ago. Technology has since evolved.
In this post, I won't just show you how we did it 16 months ago.
But I'll show you how to do it even better...

1. Understanding the target audience

A large part of a successful AI content campaign is knowing what your audience is searching.
Ways we researched:
  • Keyword research tools
  • Competitor keyword data
  • Ideation around the product
  • Scraping competitor sitemaps
For example, if targeting Excel users, use Ahrefs' matching terms report and look for patterns in the data (for step 2).
Ahrefs \"How to excel\" Matching Terms Report

2. Choose scalable topic series

Find a series of topics with 100s or 1,000s of keywords to target.
Here are the 6 we chose:
Scalable Topics Series
An example of a scalable topic series targeting Excel users is:
How to calculate [formula] in Excel
Ahrefs Calculate Excel Matching Terms Report

3A. Generate content for each topic series

Byword Project Name
Use Byword to generate the AI content from your topics (it can produce 1,000s in a day).

3B. Enable internal linking first

Byword Internal Linking
Internal linking is crucial. But it wasn't possible to automate 16 months ago.
Add your sitemap and let Byword do the rest.

3C. Upgrade the AI image model

Byword AI Image Settings
AI-generated images were fairly poor at the time.
But now, Byword has an upgraded option that also allows you to add brand colours.

4. Build the website architecture

Website Structure
Create an area on the site to house the content to ensure Google can find and crawl the pages easily.
Each of those pages then houses the individual posts for that topic series (like a HTML sitemap).

5. Publish quickly

Byword Integrations
Publish the content and ensure all URLs are in the XML sitemap and submitted in Search Console.
Byword has integrations with CMS platforms to speed this up.

6. Submit to Google for indexing at scale

https://preview.redd.it/r4l73sxqav0d1.jpg?width=3052&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01debd0af1dce84eb9091052466705474562e93e
We published over 7,000 articles. Google takes its time indexing every single page.
Instead, use a tool like TagParrot to automatically request indexing to Google for each page.

7. Results...

2024.05.17 00:37 Galaxy_the_nightwing First Impressions part 76

First Previous Next

{Sorry for the late post. I had some trouble with my scheduled summer semester pop up so I wasn't able to write this out as much as I wanted last weekend. Anyways, enjoy the domestic fluff of Damian and his newly expanded flock :) }

-----Damian-----
"The next one's simple. Say their name then (sit). Like this: Braxton, (sit)." As Damian said the command he raised his hand to around shoulder height and snapped. The Great Dane in question slowly sat with his usual amount of sass. Ree cooed in awe and Scales' eyes sparkled. Damian smiled as he pats the large dog's head with praise.
"(Good boy). Ok, you two. Your turns. Make sure to say the commands in English. I haven't taught them Common yet." He motioned to the dogs Damian picked for the two to learn the commands with. It took Damian a bit of trial and error figuring out what commands each dog knew and what ones had different commands for the same motion. Then it took even longer to retrain them to all follow the same commands. He kept in mind the 'specialized' commands for a few of the dogs and didn't try teaching them to the whole group. Ree tried the command he was teaching them first, his dog being Diesel.
"Trii-cheiu, (sit)." Ree raised his wing-arm, though he couldn’t snap he still did the gesture. The boxer he was talking to blankly tilted his head. Damian chuckled and helped out the bird, knowing they all tend to have problems pronouncing new words without a chirp to them.
"You pronounced his name wrong, he doesn't know you're talking to him. It's more like 'Dee-sell'. The 's' is sharp enough it is almost pronounced as a 'z'." Ree practiced a few times as Scales took her try. She pronounced her dog's name a bit slow, but it was recognizable.
"D-ing-oh, (sit)." The stocky dog hesitated, glancing at Damian for a few seconds, but eventually plopped down then panted in a smile imitation. Scales' tail wagged violently, and she wordlessly cooed and trilled happily. Dingo didn't yet understand that was praise so Damian jumped in really quick to let her know she did good.
"Good girl, Dingo! Good girl!" He made sure to over exaggerate his excitement and made wide happy gestures before smothering the dog in pets and scratches. Dingo goes wild. She jumps up, bounces around a few times, then bolts into excited zoomies. A few of the other dogs joined in on the zoomies. Ree tried again on his command.
"Dee-zell, (sit)." The boxer's cropped ears perked and he promptly sat. Before Damian could, Ree copied his bigwing's previous praising and flared his wings. "Good! Good boy!" He praised, overly happy. Diesel's whole body perked up and he jumped up, landed in a playbow, then spun a few times before joining in on the zoomies with a butt-tuck run when Damian smooched at him. Damian laughed at the zooming dogs and shuffled over to be closer to his chicks, just in case the dogs tried to do fly-bys.
"Good job, you two. We're almost completely through the basic commands. I didn't think we'd get through them this quickly." His chicks cooed, trilled, and wiggled happily at the praise. Damian chuckled and rubbed their feathered heads, making a few bits of baby-fluff fall off as he drew back. He played with the few bits stuck to his fingers and watched his chicks play with the dogs as they started to wrestle. All of the dogs were bigger than them, if only slightly, but they were gentle when letting the chicks join in.
As they played he looked over them. They had changed a lot in the last month or so since the disaster of their first flying lesson. In that time, they had a few more lessons and were almost completely capable of flight, they still had a bit of supervision when they did though. They had lost almost all of their baby-fluff and their adult plumage was sported on the vast majority of their bodies. They still had to shed the last bits of fluff and a few of their baby-scales but that wouldn't take much longer. Damian was still taken with their coloring and patterns. And often found himself studying them over and over like he used to with their parents when he first got here.
Ree was a slightly grey-tinted shade of green with his scales slowly getting darker the higher they went. His stomach was a dirt brown color with a more red-ish clay spot on his chest. All his plumage was a light orage-ish brown color and he had speckles of more pastel green under his right eye and in a clump on his left jaw. His beak took the coloring of Blueberry's, a near-black color, but had the shape of Ruby's. His ears took after Violet's, long and pointed like a stretched fox's. His feathers and fur were more pressed down and made him look slimmer overall. His eyes changed from their baby brown-gold color to a beautiful sky blue.
Scales, on the other hand, had the coloring more towards a bumble bee (from what he remembered anyways). Her main coloring was a bright sunshine yellow that slowly grew more towards orange towards her underbelly and beak. On her chest was a splash-like clump of pink feathers. Her scales were less than her brother's and were a deep brown-ish color. The feathers and fur edging them were a deep enough brown to basically be black. Her plumage reminded him somewhat of Ruby and Sky's. It had a gradual fade towards the end like Sky but the pink-ish color of Ruby. She had near-neon yellow speckles too, like her brother, but the clumps were a bit larger. She had them ending on her wing-forearms like Violet's and a big clump scattered around the left side of her face. Her feathers weren't quite as fluffy as Sky's but was pretty close. Her beak had the shape of Violet's and the near-white tan color of Ruby's. Her eyes had a beautiful dual color in each eye. The top majority was a hot pink/magenta color while the bottom and inside edge was more of a petal/pastel pink.
Both were gorgeous and made Damian wonder how the genetics of their species worked to allow that vast difference in coloration and patterns when compared to all four of their parents, who tended to be different shades of the same color throughout. Ree had finally slowed his quite concerning growth rate and was starting to level out around Damian's upper thigh/lower hip, exceeding the taller of his fathers by quite the margin. All four of his parents telling him that Ree was probably one of the largest of their species in multiple generations. Scales was now barely a third of her brother's size, if that, having evened out just barely shorter than Damian's knee. Apparently that was a bit shorter than average for the species with Ruby being more towards the upper part of the average size and Sky being borderline short.
A demanding snort drew his attention away from his chicks and to the window he claimed as 'his spot' so long ago (was it really only just over one of his years since he was brought here?). There he found Casper lazily curled and dozing on the floor with Ares propped up against her where Damian had set him to nap while he taught his chicks. Said child was no longer asleep though. He was very much awake and staring Damian down with an expression demanding to know why he thought it was a good idea to even dare to set him down and walk away. Nevermind Damian wasn't even ten steps away. Ares snorted demandingly at him again and glared harder at the human's amused snort back. Damian did walk over though and picked up the child when he raised his arms at him. Ares had changed a bit too over the month Damian had him. He'd filled out to a more healthy-looking weight, though he was still a bit thin, and Damian had finally managed to memorize how to properly trim the toddler's hooves and brush out his fur.
Ares still had the bird-like plush and brought it nearly everywhere with him. Said plush was now being whacked into the side of Damian's head. Apparently, Ares decided being held wasn't good enough and wanted something else. Damian tried blocking the hits or holding the toy, but the little brat only started using his hooves in his growing tantrum. Getting tired of being hit with no explanation, Damian took the advice of one of the texts he'd read about taking care of a Grongri child and yanked Ares away from him by his scruff to hang in mid-air. The toddler wiggled and squirmed to try and hit him more but eventually the tantrum dimmed, and he went limp, a small pout on his face.
"You ready to tell me what's wrong now?" He asked the child before he cradled him again. He'd only made that mistake once. He still had the bruises to prove it. Ares glumly flicked his right ear down (which he's learned is a non-verbal yes), pout still present. Damian finally cradled the toddler to his chest again and let him sniffle and bury against him in self-comfort until he was ready to talk. Damian glanced back at his chicks to see them flopped on the ground with the other dogs, all panting and exhausted by the play. Damian chuckled at them, earning an irritated crow from Scales. Damian snorted in amusement but let them be. Ares was finally willing to tell him what was wrong.
"Want learn too." Ares' understanding of both Common and English has come a long way in the past month. He still can't string a proper sentence together, but Damian can't tell if that is because of a lack of knowledge or just because he's a toddler. He has adjusted to the flock a bit too. With it being so different from the usual Grongri Sounder structure it is understandable. He does have a few hiccups here and there but now he mostly just watches the chicks' reaction to things when he is unsure.
"'Learn too'? You wanna learn how to command the dogs too?" Damian questions, making sure he had the same idea. Ares' ear flicked again while he nodded. Damian hugged him a bit closer.
"You're a bit too small for the dogs to obey you immediately but I can introduce one to you and have you start trying. How about that? Will that work?" Ares was quiet for a bit longer but eventually agreed. Damian smiled and praised him with a few pets, receiving a few happy rumbles in response. Damian glanced around at the dogs, trying to pick one for Ares to start working on. He doesn't think any would follow the commands without his own help but if he worked on one long enough it would eventually cave. His eye landed on Casper, who was still in the same curled position as before. She was the most maternal of the group and was the one who took to the children the easiest and quickest.
"Ok, little piglet. Let's start easy." He said as he set the runt down on his hooves. As he did he got Casper's attention and called to her. "Casper. (Stand)." The large white wolfdog looked at him then crawled to her paws. He praised her softly then turned back to Ares.
"Ok. We'll start with (come). Say her name, Casper, and tell her to (come)." He said as he sat down next to where the toddler stood. Ares' little hooves stomped a bit in his excitement, but he tried. He tested out the new word before he did. What he settled on wasn't the right pronunciation, but it was close. He could mostly pronounce the command correctly too, though with a pretty heavy accent.
"Gas-prrrr. (Come)." Casper tilted her head at the child and sniffed at him. She looked at Damian and he looked to Ares then back. Casper followed and glanced, then back. Ares deflated eventually when she still didn't approach so Damian thought up something quickly.
"Maybe she doesn't understand your accent. Try this," He patted the ground, "when you say it. She knows that gesture." Ares perked back up again.
"Okie!" He turned back to Casper and tried again. "Gas-prrrr." He crouched down and clumsily patted the ground like only a toddler could. "(Come)." Casper's ears perked but she still hesitated for a second before slowly padding over and stopping right in front of the child. Ares squealed in excitement, tail going wild and hooves stomping. Damian made his chuff-imitation as praise for the child as he pets Casper to do the same. Child happier now, he figures he could take the kid away for lunch without protest. Scooping up the toddler he received no complaint.
Looking to his chicks he clicked his tongue. He learned that was a good way to gain their attention with zero hesitation, no matter what they were doing. He found out by complete accident, to be honest. He was clicking at the dogs from a habit that hasn't broken despite the years away from the farm he grew up on. Sure enough, just like every time before, both chick's heads immediately whip up to look at him. Both still looked groggy like they had just woken up. They probably had.
"C'mon, you two. Lunch time." The two groaned but climbed to their feet. Damian smiled and them and patted them as they passed. Once they were well on their way, he called the dogs and gathered them as he left behind his chicks. The dogs happily trailed after, excited after they heard the word 'hungry' when he asked. He entered the flock's kitchen, pack in tow, only a handful of minutes later. He had to take a slightly more roundabout way over since some of the dogs hadn’t quite figured out the ladder-like walkways and ramps yet and he didn't want them to fall through and get hurt. His birds greeted him with their usual trills and Untruthful with their latest attempt at teasing.
"So, the Pack Master finally decided to grace us with his presence!" Damian let them know it was a good one by sending a tease back.
"I see you haven't gotten any less spikey yet, walking pincushion." Untruthful's eyes slowly shut in a smile and Damian sent one of his own back, momentarily closing his eyes in an imitation of them. Untruthful looked surprised then they eye-close-smiled harder, spike-crest wiggling their excitement. Damian chuckled at them and set down Ares in his make-shift baby seat.
He chatted with Violet as he grabbed and rationed out the dogs' small lunch. He ignored the protesting whines, grunts, and half-barks urging him to 'go faster already'. Violet advised him to use one type of meat instead of another because of both better nutrients for the dogs and there being more of it. He thanked her and did as told. The dogs' lunch wasn't that big, more of a snack than anything, but it kept them from pouting and begging when everyone else ate. It also had helped him give them meds when they were still healing. They were mostly fine now, apparently Galactic Standard medicine works faster than the stuff he remembers. Finishing with the dogs' food he picks up the bowls, stacking a few to do so, and turns around. He walked past the dogs, chuckling at the excited spins, bounces, and tippy-taps they did as they followed him. He glanced back at them once he made it to the wall the flock had designated as their eating area.
He gave them a stern look and waited. They all eventually sat down, some more slow and reluctant than others. Once they did he placed down the bowls in the designated spots. Braxton and Casper had two stepstool-stand things he placed their bowls on because of how big they were. Once all the bowls were down he turned to look at the dogs. He waited in silence for a bit, snapping or humming warningly whenever one tried to shuffle forward. Once he deemed it long enough he gave the sort-of-command he was on the tail end of teaching them.
"(Ok)." When he said that all six dogs ran over to their bowls and started to eat. Damian strode back over to the counter and helped his birds move some plates to the table then settled cross-legged in his usual spot, Ares immediately crawling into his lap and Scales fluttering to perch on the shoulder opposite the side her brother sat on. The flock started to grab food and eat as they chatted with each other. Damian grabbed a little more than a double portion of fruits, beans (or maybe they were berries?), and a few crunchy finger foods he thinks may be cooked or specially prepared insects. He grabbed roughly more than a single portion (for someone his size anyways) of meats, the few root vegetables presented, and what he thinks may be foods made of bone pieces.
Once his plate was full he placed it down in front of him he reached over to grab a smaller plate and started making that one with tiny portions, letting his three kids have free pickings of his plate as he did. When he finished that plate he sat it in front of mini, receiving a grateful squeak before she dug in. He then propped his arms on the table, completely ignoring both his plate and the children stealing from it as he chattered on with his flock. By the time everyone finished his kids had their fill and were starting to fall asleep like usual after eating.
As his flock started gathering their dishes and the extra food on the table, Damian glanced at what was left of his plate. He made a mental note of how there weren’t as much leftovers as before and to grab bigger portions for dinner. As his flock started to disperse he looked to the dogs and said one of the first new commands he taught them.
"(Pups)." He got their attention. "(Take)." He ordered as he lifted up the half-asleep toddler on his lap. The dogs made whisper-boofs to show they heard and the largest three walked over to pick up the kids by their scruffs. Casper (the biggest, though not my much) grabbed Ree, Braxton grabbed Ares, and Dingo walked over to carefully lift Scales from his shoulder. Once they had a firm grip, they looked to Damian for further instruction.
"(To bed)" He directed as he pointed out the door they came from. The pack turned and left him alone in the room. He sighed to himself once he couldn't hear them anymore and looked back at the leftovers on the plate before him. It was maybe under half a portion for his size, probably less. He glanced at the counters and saw all the leftover food was already put up. He could go grab more but even half a portion for him would be nearly three or four large portions for his flock. No. It wasn’t worth it. He'll just grab more tonight.
He ate the leftovers in silence. Since he's got the dogs his head has been a bit quieter, though not silent. Apparently he was still enough for the building to register the room as empty, and the lights cut out. He blinked and paused at the sudden darkness but there was barely a second of blindness before some of his voices put their hands on his mental controls, giving his eyes a boost of minor night vision. It wasn’t much better than his natural amount of it but it helped. He decided not to go turn on the lights again and continued to eat his food as he peacefully listened to the soft chattering of his voices.

2024.05.17 00:09 Ok-Hope-8521 Hypocrisy among Christians

I’ve seen Christians critique Islam for allowing 4 wives, Mohammad marrying Aisha, not abolishing slavery, capital punishment etc but use every excuse in the book for violence and cruelty in the Bible which far surpasses Islam.
Christians believe Jesus is god which inspired the Bible that have verses like these:
Samuel 15, Genocide of the amalekites: Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the Lord sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the Lord. This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’”
Exodus 21:20-21, beating slaves: “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.
Numbers 31:17-18, sex slaves after genocide: Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Hosea 13:16, violence: The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.
Psalm 137:9, child murder: Blessed the one who seizes your children and smashes them against the rock: the children represent the future generations, and so must be destroyed if the enemy is truly to be eradicated
Exodus 21: 7-8, selling daughters as slaves: “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself,[a] he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.
Now tell me why the loving Jesus would order these things?
