Smith school decisions
Hello, so does anyone know when smith school decisions will be out? Also the status section of my application is blank, so I just wanted to know if that’s normal too or if it’s supposed to say anything

2024.06.09 18:13 luckyjim1962 Interesting book format: "Persuasion" as a flipback paperback (Hodder & Stoughton, London, 2011)

On another subreddit (about book collecting), I saw one of these "flipback" books, an initiative to create a small-format, highly portable aperback for reading on transit and carrying with you. It inspired me to find this copy of Persuasion.
It's very small (4.75 x 3.25 inches), the page orientation is landscape, and the paper stock is thin paper (like in a Bible). Complete and unabridged. I like it.

2024.06.09 16:24 SpoiledChamp Deciding between the P1S+AMS and A1+AMS lite

Hey everyone!
After dragging this out for far longer than it needed to be dragged out, I have decided that I am going to join the Bambu Lab community and get my first Bambu Lab printer!
I wasn't sure really what I was going for at first. I currently am using an Ender 3 Max, and even though I know there's a possibility that at some point this year Bambu might release a successor to its current line (such as maybe an X2C/P2P/P2S or even just an XL version that is larger than the 256mm build plate) the current line of printers are just so impressive... even if they do release a successor... something like the P1S and A1 are EONS better than what I have right now. And I'm okay even if something new DOES come out. << I know this is all an assumption.
So I've narrowed it down to two models: the P1S and A1. I want to clarify (first of all) that I currently print using mostly PLA and PETG. HOWEVER - I would be interested in trying different materials (maybe something like ABS) down the road if at some point I become curious and want to try something new.
I know saying that already is an indicator to just go for the P1S. But I have to say, the price and performance of A1 is such an incredible value - I am also okay NOT getting something enclosed and sticking with just PLA and PETG.
I have looked at the P1P, but if I am going to spend the money, I would rather just get the completed P1S and not buy any upgrade kit to convert it to a P1S in the future.
I am an engineering student who would mostly use this for personal projects and some rapid prototyping applications (also multi-colour).
So if you were in my shoes, and had to pick one of the two combos: I wanted to know what your experience is with both printers? And what you might recommend I pick?
I greatly appreciate any feedback I get from anyone in this community. I am so excited to buy my first Bambu Lab and join you guys in being a part of this community! Thank you again.

2024.06.09 13:00 TheRealThrowAwayX I'm really struggling to send cookies from a Django backend to React front end, can anyone help please?

This is my forever nightmare. As I'm working with Django and React, with each project I get to the same point, which is trying to authenticate users between front and back. I then get stuck because it never works, I abandon the project, come back after a month or so with another project, and get stuck at the exact same step, but perhaps with different issues.
I had some help from learnpython subreddit, and after making requested changes, I still don't get any cookies on the front end, so I can't carry on with allowing users various access levels to different routes. There was some progress, as the dev tools console finally mentions my cookie!
It says "Cookie “faketoken” will soon be rejected because it is foreign and does not have the “Partitioned“ attribute."
I did my best to google a solution to this error, but all I find is empty forum posts with people asking how to fix this, and no replies from others.
Some info:
Django login view:
@csrf_exempt def user_login(request): if request.method == "POST": data = json.loads(request.body) email = data.get("username") username = email[:email.index("@")] password = data.get("password") user = authenticate(request, username=username, password=password) if user is not None: login(request, user) response = JsonResponse({"status": "success", "message": "Logged in successfully"}) response.set_cookie(key="faketoken", value="pleaseworkthistime", max_age=3600, samesite="None") print(response.cookies) # Checking if it sets return response else: return JsonResponse({'status': 'error', 'message': 'Invalid credentials'}, status=400) return JsonResponse({'status': 'error', 'message': 'Only POST method is allowed'}, status=405)
React login component:
const Login = () => { const [email, setEmail] = useState(''); const [password, setPassword] = useState(''); const [error, setError] = useState(null); const history = useHistory(); const handleSubmit = async (e) => { e.preventDefault(); const response = await fetch('http://127.0.0.1:8000/reportailogin/', { method: 'POST', headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json', }, body: JSON.stringify({ username: email, password: password }), credentials: 'include' }); const data = await response.json(); if (response.ok) { console.log(data.message); console.log(data) history.push("/admin/dashboard"); } else { setError(data.message); } };
I just want to be able to allow access to certain routes only for authenticated/authorized users, could someone please help me get over this struggl?

Pasted Code Above
I have been using Adafruit QT Py ESP32-S3 dev boards as dedicated CPT I2C Surface Temperature sensors for my controller application.
While doing some updates I ported over to an Adafruit ESP32-S3 Reverse TFT Feather with an integrated LCD to display the Surface Temperature live and decided to implement a few extra screens to show other information via the Feather's UI buttons.
https://preview.redd.it/mbut76lprh5d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3663ecdd10b6f1b49be2df79573ffead5072fb4

I stripped out the I2C code to share here in case anyone else might be interested in a cheap DIY CPT companion display.
Note that I BLE scan based on the MAC address of the CPT and subscribe to the GATT Probe Status Service.
So you need to enter the MAC address of your CPT where indicated or use a different method.
The virtual screen bezel flashes blue while it is communicating with the CPT.
The information from the Probe Status Service may differ slightly from what is shown in the app.
For example, the raw temperature data comes in +/- .05 degrees C which I round, versus the app truncates.
And BTW, the units are in native Celsius...sorry.
You will need to do some conversions if you want Fahrenheit.
The screens were also implemented very simply, so the last page only shows Prediction Time Remaining, Food Safe Status, Target Log Reduction and the reported Current Calculated Log Reduction.
https://preview.redd.it/d9j1b1a2sh5d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=171874570f628d37b9066a034d36217e2e1e8fa6
If want more information you will have to add pages on your own.
Or if you want to use MeatNet and/or the Nordic UART Service for more direct communication with the CPT maybe this can help get you started.
I needed to keep it as simple as possible for my application needs...

2024.06.09 05:43 GenX2XADHD How to Write a Paper When You Have ADHD

Getting organized to sit down and write a major term paper is such a daunting task for us folks with ADHD. As a student I would have vague ideas of what I want to write, but lacked the executive function to get to the job done. I would stare at a blank Word doc, type a sentence, delete a sentence, repeat. Unexpected for a writing major, I know. Are you looking for a way to break out of this cycle?
May I present: the Index Card Method.
As a high school student in the 1990s, I was forced to use this method to write a ten page senior thesis. Nearly all senior level English classes in my school used this method. Prior to that year, I had seen students carrying around fat stacks of index cards, protecting them like their ability to graduate depended on them. It did. I begrudgingly followed this methodical approach even though it wasn't "the way I write." Ironically, I found it so helpful I continued using this method throughout college, and admittedly even in grad school 25 years later.
What is it?
It's a low-tech system of organizing your sources, topics, details, citations, and anything else that goes into your paper.
Why low-tech?
It is a hands-on process loaded with sensory actions. Physically handling and arranging the index cards helps me focus on a task. Filling out an index card and setting it aside and then picking up another FEELS productive. Seeing a growing pile of index cards as you move through the project LOOKS like productivity. These sensory activities boost my momentum.
The best part of this method is how it breaks down a mountain of a project into smaller tasks without requiring me to create a big plan before I can start working on it. The size of each task is literally the size of an index card. Plus, it is an opportunity to use those cool pens you bought the last time you said you would start journaling.
The Index Card Method cannot be done the night before a paper is due, at least I wouldn't try it anyway. If you don't like writing outlines or drafts, give this method a try - but if you're cramming, do give yourself a week to get it done.
How does it work?

Step 1: Cards

Get some 3x5 index cards. For a 10-page, double spaced paper, you will need around 300 cards.
Do not get 150 4x6 cards. They must be 3x5.
For this post, I will assume anyone following this method is using lined index cards. It does not matter if the cards are lined, but know that when I say "On the top line write..." I mean where the actual top line of the card would be. This also means you will be writing across width of the cards in landscape orientation, meaning a full line of text on a 3x5 card runs 5 inches, not 3 inches.
There are two simple, but vital rules to remember when creating cards.
  1. Only write on one side of the card. Leave the other side blank. You will need to see all of a card's contents at a quick glance.
  2. If you make a mistake on a card, immediately tear it in half so it doesn't get mixed up with the ones you want to keep.

Step 2: Thesis card

You will only have a thesis card if you are writing a thesis (argument) paper.
In the center of the top line of your thesis card, write "Thesis Statement."
Now write your thesis statement below that.

Step 3: Topic cards

In the center of the top line write "Topic." Below that, write the name of a topic related to your thesis statement.
Topics should be broad, written as one or two words. Create as many topic cards as you think you will need. You can always create more later, so don't get stuck on this part.
Example: topics related to a thesis on the healthcare industry may include: Insurance, Costs, Medicare, Medicaid, Prevention, Prescription Drugs, Hospitals, etc.

Step 4: First Layout

Spread out your topic cards on a table. Select the broadest topics and line them up in a row in the order in which you would like them in your paper. Now arrange the narrower topics in columns below the broad topics in the order that makes sense to you. Using the example of the healthcare industry in the previous step, "Costs" may be a broad topic with "Insurance" and "Prescription Drugs" listed beneath it.
Split a topic if you need to. "Costs" could also be split into "Consumer Costs" and "National Costs", then "Insurance" and "Prescription Drugs".
Don't expect to have a lot of topic cards at this point. You may only have one or two subtopics for each broad topic. This is fine. You can always add more as you go along.
Take a picture of your topic cards in this arrangement.
Congratulations, you just made an outline!
Now type it out. Title it "Preliminary Outline."

Step 5: Sources

Go find sources you would like to use for your paper. When you find a source you would like to use, create a bibliography card.

Step 6: Bibliography cards

In the center of the top line write "Bibliography".
In the upper left hand corner of the card on the top line, write the number "1", as it is your first Bibliography card. This is your source ID.
Now write the complete and proper reference of your source, formatted according to your citation style. Include doi links, if applicable. Where italic font is used in a citation, underline it on your card.
Open a new document file. Title it "References", "Works Cited", etc., depending on your citation style. Type out your bibliography cards in the order appropriate to your citation style. Most likely they will be alphabetical by author. As you find more sources and write out bibliography cards, add them to this document.
About citation styles:
A citation style is a way to reference your sources, specifically how you list them out and how you identify where you found a fact or quote.
If you are in highschool, your teacher will tell you how to write write and format sources and citations. If they don't, ask.
If you are an undergrad, most professors don't care which style you choose, but they want it consistent. If this is the case, I recommend using APA or MLA because they use simple, in-line citations.
If you are a graduate student, use the appropriate style for your field. If your reference style uses foot notes or end notes, please be aware you may need to create citation IDs later to help you stay organized.

Step 7: Read and Highlight

As you read through your sources, highlight anything that stands out to you that you may want to use in your paper.
This is where I would normally say it does not matter if your sources are printed or digital, but for many of us it does matter. Stepping away from technology is one the reasons I find this method so effective. I encourage you to print articles or photocopy sources when possible.
Your school likely has access to full-text articles online that can be downloaded as PDFs and printed later.
If your source is text from a website, right click on in the body of the text and select Print. When the print window pops up, select PDF (or Adobe PDF) as your printer. In the next pop up, select where you would like to store your file. Your source is now saved as a PDF. By the way, printing to a PDF is the easiest way to save a file while maintaining its formatting. Try it from any program. Now when you print it to paper, it will look like the PDF.

STEP 8: Detail cards

In the center of the top line write the topic related to the highlighted text. If you do not have a related topic card, make one.
In the upper left corner on the top line, write the source ID that matches the one on its respective bibliography card.
In the upper right corner on the top line of each card write the page number(s) from your source as "p 87" or "pp 87-88". If your source does not have page numbers, write your source's equivalent as it applies (act/scene numbers, time stamp, etc.). Look up a style reference guide for requirements.
Now in your own words, write about an area you highlighted. If you want to directly quote the article, make sure you use quotation marks. Otherwise, simply paraphrase it. Use complete sentences.
If you are copying a long quote and run out of room on a card, write the topic, source ID, and page number on another new card and continue writing your quote. In the bottom right corners write "1 of 2" and "2 of 2" respectively.
Create bibliography and detail cards for all your sources. Find more sources as needed. For a 10-page double spaced paper, expect to have around 150-200 detail cards.

Step 9: Second Layout

Lay out all of your topic cards in the same order as your preliminary outline, only this time line them all up in one row.
By this time you may also want to combine or eliminate topics because your project took a different direction from when you first wrote them. This is fine.
When you think you have enough detail cards, sort them into piles by topic. Now arrange your detail cards in columns under their topics in a way that makes sense to you.
Take a picture of all your cards in this arrangement.
Congratulations, you just layed out your final outline!

Step 10: Type Your Outline

Save a copy of your preliminary outline and title it "Final Outline." Fill in the text from the detail cards. Each detail card should be a separate bullet point on your outline. After typing out a detail card, add the citation at the end. You already know the source because you wrote the source number in the upper left hand corner of each card.
You should not have anything in your final outline that is not written down on an index card.

Step 11: First Draft

Save a copy of your final outline and name it "First Draft." Now arrange your bullet points into paragraphs. This is your draft.
Now print it . Proofread it. Ask a friend to proofread it. Mark it up and make any necessary changes on paper. Don't change any quoted text because quotes are ...well ...quotes.

Step 12: Final Copy

Save a copy of your First draft and name the file "Final Copy." Type the edits you handwrote on paper. I realize with today's technology a lot of proofreading and peer editing is done electronically. This is fine. If you're using Google Docs, be sure to use Suggestion Mode. If using Word, turn on Track Changes.
Your paper is done.
High school students, if your teacher doesn't think you've made enough changes between your draft and your final copy, hand over your stack of index cards, both outlines, and your highlighted sources. They will know you didn't use ChatGPT or copy someone else's work because you can't fake what you've just handed to them.
Edit: See my other post for a technique that harnesses your ADHD to help you organize a project or to present new ideas to a group.

2024.06.09 03:39 IBMERSUS My Nexus experience - processing time, interview etc.

I hope this post would help prospective applicants with information that they may want to know.
Here's my experience right from application through having the cards in hand.
Number of applicants: 4 (2 adults and 2 children)
Applications submitted: Dec 10 2022
Conditional approval received for all 4: Mar 04 2024
I scheduled the interview for all four applicants in Champlain NY for May 27 2024. Cards received on the 10th day from the date of interview.
Interview experience:
I got slots for self and family that are close to one another for 1:30 pm through 2:10 pm. We reached the interview location (237 W Service Rd, Champlain, NY 12919) around 12:15 pm. You have ample free parking onsite. Once you enter the building you can clear signs leading to the Nexus interview locations. We were told that the officers were at lunch and the office would resume taking applicants in around 12:30 pm. We waited in the main hall. They opened the office around 12:35 pm. There were about 10 applicants (including the 4 of us) in total. We were all allowed in simultaneously in no particular order. The US and the Canadian officers were seated in the same big room. We went to one of the CBP officers first. Even though our scheduled time was from 1:30 pm, he just started working our cases. He collected all the fours passports and DLs of the adults. No other documents were collected. The finger prints were taken first. He then photographed us. The process was repeated for all the applicants. The documents were given to the Canadian officer who was right across the CBP officer's table. She asked a couple of questions such as "Why do you want Nexus?", "Do you travel mostly for official or personal purposes" etc. No finger prints again. The CBSA officer updated the adults' passport details as the passports that the adults used at the time of application had expired between the application and the interview. We were given some materials that list out the Nexus Dos and Donts. She said our cards will be delivered within about 2 weeks and we were out of the office. Total time spent was about 45 minutes for all 4 (including about 15 minutes wait while the officers were at lunch). Within about 30 minutes after the interviews, we got emails that the application status has changed.

2024.06.09 02:25 NicoleL34 DS-5525 current ongoing for my 15 y/o

I have a specific situation that I am going to attempt to use the DS-5525 form when applying for my 14 year old daughter’s passport if anyone is interested in following along for the outcome. I have heard stories where it is hit or miss with this method but I am still going to try.
A little background first. First off, my ex-husband (we met when I was 15) and I have been separated for well over ten years (I’m 38 now) but I was just able to afford a legal, file it yourself, divorce with kids in Knoxville, TN court about a year and a half ago (which I hand delivered to the prison when he was closer to have him sign and notarize) and on the court date I was immediately granted divorce after informing the judge there was already a court order in place through juvenile court regarding my kids and that my ex was in federal prison where he has pretty much spent his entire life. He has numerous charges of domestic violence against me, hence the separation, he now has a history of guns and selling narcotics and is a federal inmate classified as a "gang member", which I found hilarious honestly because he's an idiot. His family always says when he's out he's just visiting and will go back soon if that tells you anything.
There is a no-contact court order against my now ex-husband through juvenile court since my children were very young (around 5 and 6) so I assumed I wouldn't have an issue getting my daughter's passport as the paperwork states that I have full rights over my children but was later informed when failing to get her passport that the document provided had to say "sole legal custody" or something along those lines. I drove almost 4 hours back to my hometown and the lady at the juvenile stated that although I have full rights that I don't have sole custody, even with a no-contact order, and that it was basically just a matter of legal wording. She advised for a little under $300 that I could petition the court for sole custody and a court date would be set for the following month. I told her I would have to return at a later time as I would be out of the country that entire following month.
While out of the country I was continuing to research other methods to save money and from missing work and driving back and forth 8 hours round trip for court dates and came across the DS-5525 form.
I have completed the form and also will submit the following along with the DS-5525 and her passport application:
  1. A letter detailing why I am using the DS-5525 which I will share a template of if anyone needs it in the comment section of this post.
  2. Inmate locator print out from the official BOP (Bureau of Prisons) website.
  3. An official stamped and signed copy of the no-contact order.
  4. I have also ordered an official background check from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations on my ex-husband online that I am now waiting to receive to include with the application. The reason I am including this is to solidify the reason behind the no-contact order and to show that it would be against the best interest of our family as well as a form of breaking the court order to try and contact him directly to ask him nicely to sign the DS-3053 for her to get her passport. The report is supposed to be emailed to me but I just ordered it online today Saturday, 6/8/2024 and I am not sure how long it will take to receive it.
We have a passport appointment for my daughter on Wednesday, 6/12/24 at 11am cst and hope to receive the background check back before the appointment. If we don't received it by Tuesday night I will reschedule her appointment.
I will update/add detailed edits to this post as I progress through the process on if I failed, succeeded, or whatever happens so this may help anyone else in a similar situation.

2024.06.09 00:55 Four_Under_Par Couple questions about hot end

Couple questions about hot end
I have a couple of questions about the assembly of the hot ends. I'm still kind of new to all this. I was gifted two of the 3v2's and they were a "work in progress". I've done a lot to get them up and running. On the first one the other night, I was getting to where my extruder wouldn't load or unload filament for anything. I took apart the hot end and found a huge "plug" down by the nozzle. It was a mix of the last 4 colors I've been printing. I don't know how it plugged up but I got it all free and now it's flowing like nobody's business. Actually too much because the stringing is absolutely garbage, but I'm working on that through settings.
My main question comes in to play with the below photo. This is of my #2 3v2 hot end. When trying to melt out the plugged up filament inside, I melted the Teflon tube a bit, so I've got some ordered from Amazon to replace it. I'm using a direct drive application, so the Teflon tube is really only about 2" in length.
Question #1, as far as the blue arrow where the plugs were, what would cause these "plugs"?!?
Question #2, as far as the yellow arrow, when I get my Teflon tube tomorrow, how "far" do I install it down into the hot end area?

Hello everyone, just wanted to share my experience living in Canada since November of 2023.
I speak 4 languages fluently (English,Spanish, Ukrainian and Russian). Do have experience working as a settlement worker+translatointerpreter in Red Cross (and similar) companies. Been actively volunteering in the past 5 years, and still do volunteer in Food banks here in Canada. I also have plenty of experience working as a Barista and a Hookah Man (I was the best Hookah man in my hometown). You folks can't even imagine how grateful I am to have a possibility to live in Canada now. It was a Dream I thought would never come alive, but it did... Under bad circumstances, sadly. Before moving here I have heard about Canadians being well-mannered and nice. How people would oftenly say "Thank you" and "I am sorry", to the point where it became a stereotype. And i was like "This is crazy... I can't believe these people are so nice to everyone around". I am a carrying, well-mannered person who says "Thank you" and "I am sorry" more than I should (I guess), but the moment I found out about Canadian values and manners - I fell in love with it Instantly. Not because of money or possibilites, but sincerely good people. I just wanted to experience it myself. Be surrounded by good people and show them how Grateful I am to be a part of this Wonderful community. I dreamt about it. Dreamt about being included in it, having a possibility to Contribute to it, to show that I want the best for this place and people living here. Since November 2023 I have sent around 2000 CVs (resumes) using Indeed, Jobbank, Glassdoor and other similar websites. I have visited at least 10 employment agencies/centres, but they never helped me, but rewrote my CV every single time (just 3 days ago my CV was changed again by an YMCA employee). Good thing to mention: same YMCA employee helped me get $100 on my Presto card (for free) so at least I won't have to spend my last money paying for bus trip to foodbanks i volunteer at, so I can keep doing it for one more month. (I know some of you will say that volunteering in such position is a bad thing, but I can't help myself there. Since the start of war in Ukraine I just couldn't stop thinking about people in Real need, and I decided that since I could help - I shall help, at least because I am quick on translating people)
When I just arrived here in Canada I've immediately printed a bunch of CV's of mine and went outside to drop them at all kinds of Hookah lounge bars. The first bar I've entered had Indian folks only working there, which I didn't even pay attention to. I have approached an employee and asked him to call his manager, since I was looking for a job and Am an experienced Hookah man. The guy complied, and after calling his manager he asked me "I guess you're a newcomer here in Canada, right?". That time i thought I just didn't look/act Canadian and it was obvious that I wasn't one. Turned out that question meant "You are new here, right? I ask you because apparently you don't know about the rules yet, which is - We have a cultural solidarity, so don't even try it here".
Then I went to all kinds of community centers (because I have a lot of experience acting as a settlement worker+translator in Red Cross and similar companies), applying for any position I was well familiar with (like a Receptionist, Translator or an assistant of any kind). I would be competing against people who barely spoke English, but still, somehow, would never receive a positive response. Applied to a bunch of Translation/Interpretation agencies, just for them to fail me by asking things like "Listen to this 3:28 seconds long Climate change speech written by a Chinese scientist, and then recap it in another language" (I have never experienced this kind of sabotage while applying to a Translatointerpreter job previously. Sounds a lot like If someone tried to filter out applicants to keep the spot Open).
In the last couple of days I have sent my resume to EVERY SINGLE OPEN POSITION at: Walmart, No Frills, Metro, Dollarama,Food basics, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Vallue Village,Weed dispensaries like Hunny Pot, Canna Cabana and similar ones, various airports. And today I will send my CV to every single open position in Mcdonalds and BK. It looks a lot like I will end up homeless despite my skills, productivity and multilingualism... I have maybe a month more of cash to support myself, and then I am done pretty much (hopefully shelters or at least food banks i volunteer at will be able to help...). For anyone interested: I already received around 30 replies from Walmart, saying that they decided to not move on with my application; Vallue Village also said the same about every single position I applied to (around 20). I can't believe there's not a single Positive reply after all this time. Thought I'd help to build a statistic of a kind at least,by sharing details about these companies refusing applicants like me.
I have met and seen a lot of people here who do NOT support Canadian values, norms and culture, but I am Not one of them. I don't want to be amongst those who Doesn't even speak English, but still somehow gets a job here, or someone who spits on the floor in a subway, or those who openly dgaf about this place and Canadians but it's/their resources. Those, who are planning to drain this country and then leave,to go back to their hometown.
I will keep contributing to this country till i die, doing my best to show that I am a part of Solution, not a problem. And maybe someday, if i get lucky, i'd be accepted in this community for real. I know a lot of you say that Canada is lost already at this point, but way I personally see it:
You all are Canada. You - good people. Not those who steal, rape, abuse and insult. Not the Spitters or those who barely speak English. But you - Good, well-mannered, nice people. All the problems are coming from BAD people, and you have nothing to do with them. There's an INFINITE difference between a Canadian and a "Canadian", and "Canadians" are the enemies of everything GOOD here. But even if they steal everything from this country, they will not be able to turn their country into anything like Canada, because it's about PEOPLE,not about money.

2024.06.08 20:54 ApprehensiveParty877 Concurrent Filing: Approved in record time

Hello all! Just wanted to share this post as this group has been incredibly amazing throughout my green card process. I also wanted to apologize in advance, as I know lots of applicants are waiting for such a long time that this post can be a little upsetting. I just wanted to share my personal experience applying without any legal support. I am on my Stem opt extension (F1) status, living in the country for about 5 yrs. My spouse (USC) and I have been together for two years and decided to get married in March 2024 and start the process right away. March 2024 - got married (after being together for 2 yrs). April 14 2024 - Spouse filled out application I-130 online. We didn’t get any attorney as we thought our case would be very straightforward. We compiled all the pictures into one file and posted a little description of the photos following a timeline of our relationship. My spouse was the only sponsor and only sent last W2s and tax returns . We sent bank statement of our joint bank account ( saving and checking), printed a full page with our text messages, some cards from friends, Costco and BJs with both our names, flights and hotels booked in the past with both our names. We have been living together for only a year, so we didn’t have any joint lease or mortgage, but I also printed some medical bills showing that we shared the same address. April 16 2024- We mailed the remaining forms including medical. Kseniya tips on how to assemble package were amazing. I also sent all the requested documentation, nothing else. We opted on paying with a money order( saw too many posts of people having issues with CC). April 18 2024- After two days with NO signs of my package or updates, they finally posted a receipt number and mailed me the receipt notice. Chicago Dropbox May 1 2024- My biometrics were scheduled for May 16th. All the cases were updated immediately after biometrics to "actively being reviewed" May 18 2024- I- 765 was approved, but card was delivered only on June 4th. June 8 2024- I-130 and I-485 approved! My spouse received the notification and checked the document tab right away! There it was! The Standalone approval notice. I also received an email updated informing me about the approval of my I-1485! No interview and no RFE! So far, no updates on my I-131.
My advice for who is starting this stressful process: 1-Every case is a different case! Read as much as you can, but keep in mind that each case is unique. 2- Search for legal advice if you feel it is necessary for you or if you don’t want to go over all these forms on your own. But the forms are “manageable” to fill out on your own. 3- There are amazing videos and some great instructional material online. 4- check every once in a while the Document tab on the webpage. It seems like they update that tab before changing the status of the case.

2024.06.08 19:47 Adventurous_Cable426 Experience at VFS Washington and NYC for a Long-stay student visa

US Citizen here, I was looking for a french student visa in the US. I want to share my experience so you don’t make the same mistakes!
So first I got my school acceptance around April 25th and I started my application the same day. I applied directly with the university (exchange program with my US university), so I thought I did not need to go through campus france (1st mistake).
So I did the visa application online and then it was time to look for an appointment. The hardest part was finding an appointment. I was trying to find an appointment on April 27th but the only ones available were May 15. So I chose the May 15 appointment in DC. They were all so nice! I went to VFS with all these documents: - Photocopy of my passport - The acceptance letter from the french school - A letter from my US school explaining that i’m doing a study abroad program and that I have to be back in the US to graduate in May - My bank statements (3 months) - it had more than the monthly requirement - My dad’s bank statements (he’s paying) - same here, the amounts were more than the tuition and all of the expenses I will neeed! - A letter from my dad saying that he’ll be taking care of me financially - A “attestation d’hebergement” from my aunt who’s hosting me in france - A bill she received at her address with her name and the address of where i’ll be living - A letter from my aunt saying that she’ll be hosting me the whole time - my visa application that they asked me to print out before the appointment - the appointment confirmation (in NYC, you need it or else they wont let you in). - two identity pictures (took them at UPS)
I did not include insurance (I need my visa to get the insurance, I think the embassy knows that). I also did not include the campus france (the big mistake). I got my passport back on the 22nd and they said I have to go through campus france. So I applied for campus france the same day and paid 430 euros to have it expedited. It was supposed to take 3 business days but they sent me the Campus france letter and the email on Thursday May 23.
On Friday May 24, I decided to walk in at the VFS in NYC but they were busy and it was more than 3 months before my program start date (August 26). the manager told me to come back Wednesday May 29, so they won’t reject my visa because of that. Luckily, I went online and found an appointment for the 28. I went to vfs NYC ( they are stricter than the other VFS). I gave all my documents including my campus france acceptance and the email they sent me! I also added my flight tickets to france just in case. I got my passport back with my visa on wednesday june 5.
if you want to contact someone at the embassy, I can give you the emails. they are not that helpful but they’ll respond after 1-2 business days!
advices: - apply right after your three months start! dont wait! its really hard to get an appointment so the earliest is better. - if you cannot find appointments and you really need an appointment, call the VFS number and tell them about it, they might help you. - if they cant, keep checking every 2 hours, some appointments pop up out of nowhere. - make sure you have alllll documents!!! - in NYC do not bring any luggages, they dont care they wont let you in with it. - I could not go without my luggage and I was about to miss my appointment because I could not give it to anyone, I had to look for a storage near by it was like 7minutes walk. - in DC, they stored my luggage for me, they were so nice! - at the center, make sure to take a picture of your tracking number so you can track it, its on the receipt and it starts with FRA. - assk the interviewer if you have all the documents and if you need to include additional documents so you can send it to him/her before they send out your documents. - you have to go through campus france even if you applied directly with the university!
let me know if you have questions!

2024.06.08 19:24 TheRealThrowAwayX Please help me send cookies from Django to React

I've beet at this for a few days now and I'm pulling my hair out as nothing seems to work.
I just want to send a token from my Django backend to my React front end upon user login, so that I can manage which React routes the authorized user can access.
In Django settings I have set the following:
This is my login view:
@csrf_exempt def user_login(request): if request.method == "POST": data = json.loads(request.body) email = data.get("username") username = email[:email.index("@")] password = data.get("password") user = authenticate(request, username=username, password=password) if user is not None: login(request, user) response = JsonResponse({"status": "success", "message": "Logged in successfully"}) response.set_cookie(key="faketoken", value="pleaseworkthistime", max_age=3600, samesite="None", secure=False) print(response.cookies) # Checking if it sets return response else: return JsonResponse({'status': 'error', 'message': 'Invalid credentials'}, status=400) return JsonResponse({'status': 'error', 'message': 'Only POST method is allowed'}, status=405)
The print statement just before returning the response object does indeed print the "faketoken" cookie added.
However, when trying to inspect Storage via dev tools on my React front, the cookies storage is always empty, no cookies set!
This is my React login component:
const Login = () => { const [email, setEmail] = useState(''); const [password, setPassword] = useState(''); const [error, setError] = useState(null); const history = useHistory(); const handleSubmit = async (e) => { e.preventDefault(); const response = await fetch('http://127.0.0.1:8000/reportailogin/', { method: 'POST', headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json', }, body: JSON.stringify({ username: email, password: password }), credentials: 'include' }); const data = await response.json(); if (response.ok) { console.log(data.message); console.log(data) history.push("/admin/dashboard"); } else { setError(data.message); } };
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I always get to this point in my learning journey, where I need to work with authenticated users between the front end, and backend, and I can never get through this step. I always encounter CORS or CSRF issues despite using for example the @ csrf_exempt decorator. I then give up after a week of trying, and the next time I try this in a month or so, I get to the same point with a new project and abandon again.

2024.06.08 17:01 Popular-Pineapple691 How I passed the PMP (3AT), CSM, and PMI-ACP (7AT) exams in a 3-week study blitz.

Thank you to everyone here for their guidance. This post is about how I passed the CSM, and PMI-ACP exams soon after passing the PMP. I come from a manufacturing background and do not have software experience.
May 18-29 - Passed the PMP (AT/AT/AT) with 10 days of studying. Check my other post for more details about this. https://www.reddit.com/pmp/s/Zus6PYxqTr
May 29-31 - Completed AR’s PMI-ACP exam prep course on Udemy at 1.5-2.0X playback speed. I also completed a Certified Scrum Master course during this time and got my CSM certificate after scoring 98% in the open book exam. It was very tiring, and I put in some very long hours and hardly slept, but I believed that the Scrum course could greatly help me in the PMI-ACP prep, which it did. So, the effort was worth it, and I got a CSM certification along the way, which was a nice bonus!
May 31 - Applied for the PMI-ACP online. I met the credential requirements for general project management due to my PMP pass result, and I had done one Hybrid project in the past one year where I applied basic Agile concepts such as Kanban board, incremental delivery of product value, daily stand-up meetings, etc. My application did not get audited.
May 31 - June 5 - Completed all PMI-ACP Prepcast Simulator exams and quizzes. Scored average 70%+. It cost me $99 USD.
June 5 - My application was approved, and I booked my PMI-ACP exam.
June 5-6 - Listened to (didn’t watch) the exam content section of AR’s Udemy course a couple of times while doing chores, dropping off kids at daycare, driving, etc. Also reviewed the Agile Cheat Sheet a couple of times. https://www.stellexgroup.com/blog/pmi-acp-exam-cheat-sheet-agile-pmp
June 7 - Did the exam in person. It is a 3-hour exam with no scheduled breaks. I completed the exam in one hour and 15 minutes and did not review my answers before submission as I didn't think that reviewing my answers again would give me any new ideas. I saw the pass result on the screen immediately after the exam. Before I left, the exam centre printed out my score card which said that I had achieved an above target rating in all domains. AT/AT/AT/AT/AT/AT/AT.
From May 18 to June 7, which is about three weeks, I was able to get three certifications under my belt - PMP (3AT), CSM (98%) and PMI-ACP (7AT). I highly recommended getting these three certs one after the other without too much gap between them. They are very complimentary in nature, and studying for them at the same time makes it much easier to pass all the exams. It is very exhausting doing them all at the same time, but well worth the effort as the complimentary nature of their course contents helps expedite the pathway to getting certified.

I recently tried the CZ P-10 C Red Dot Optic Cut IWB Holster, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! The holster provides a smooth, comfortable, and secure fit for my gun. One feature that really stood out is its adjustability. I loved how I could set the tension to my personal comfort and easily switch between different carry options.
The holster is made from durable Kydex and features a protective sweat guard, keeping my gun in pristine condition. Even with the adjustable clip, I found it super easy to position the holster in various positions, which adds an additional level of convenience.
However, there were a couple of things I didn't like. First, the initial tension was a bit tight, making it harder to draw my gun out. I also noticed a slight gap around the trigger guard, which could affect the retention. Lastly, the secure belt clip didn't seem to click into place as securely as it promised.

This makes them ideal for use in hunting, target shooting, or home defense situations. Their high contrast red dot reticle also makes it easy to quickly acquire and maintain target focus, even in fast-paced or high-stress situations. Additionally, Fiber Optic Red Dot sights are typically small, lightweight, and compact, making them easy to mount and carry without adding much weight or bulk to your firearm.

What types of devices are compatible with a Fiber Optic Red Dot?

Fiber optic red dot sights can be used on a wide range of devices, including pistols, rifles, and shotguns. They are most commonly found on handguns and modern sport rifles but can also be found on hunting rifles, tactical rifles, and shotguns. They can be used on both semi-automatic and revolver type firearms and can even be mount onto crossbows and muzzle loaders in some instances.

How do I properly mount and align a Fiber Optic Red Dot?

  • Begin by cleaning the top of your firearm and preparing the sight for mounting. Make sure the firearm is unloaded and secure.
  • Next, attach the mount to your firearm. This can usually be done with screws or by simply clamping the mount onto the firearm.
  • Once the mount is securely attached, insert the fiber optic sight into the mount. Make sure it is fully seated and that it is properly aligned with the mount.
  • Now, test the sight and make sure it is properly aligned. Point your firearm at a target and turn the windage and elevation adjustment screws until the red dot is properly aligned.

How do I maintain and clean my Fiber Optic Red Dot?

  • Start by turning off your weapon and removing the magazine.
  • Next, remove the mount and the fiber optic sight from your firearm. Be careful not to disassemble the sight or break any components.
  • Gently wipe the sight with a soft cloth. If the sight is dirty, you can use a mild cleaner to clean it, but be sure to avoid getting any liquid into the sight.
  • If you notice any fading or discoloration of the sight, it may need to be replaced. This can usually be done by your firearm dealer or specialized optics dealer.

What are the common issues that users face with Fiber Optic Red Dots?

The most common issues users face with Fiber Optic Red Dots are misalignment and brightness issues. Misalignment can occur if the sight is not properly mounted or if it is bumped or knocked out of alignment. Brightness issues can be caused by poor visibility in low light conditions or by exposure to bright sunlight. Additionally, some users may experience issues with the durability and quality of the sight, particularly if they are using it in harsh conditions or in high-stress situations.

As a loyal Los Angeles Chargers fan, I was thrilled to discover this Mini Alumigraphic Outdoor Decal Set from Fathead. I've always wanted to showcase my passion for the Chargers outdoors, and these decals made that possible.
The set includes five decals, each printed with our beloved team's logo and colors. These decals are no joke - they're UV and weather resistant, so I don't have to worry about them fading or peeling off due to harsh sun rays or storms. Plus, they're incredibly easy to install with their adhesive backing.
One downside I noticed was the size of these decals. They're fairly small, about a foot tall or so, but if you want to make a grand statement, you might need to look for larger options. Nonetheless, they're perfect for placing on my garage door or on the tailgate of my car.
All in all, this Fathead Mini Alumigraphic Outdoor Decal Set is a fantastic way to express your Chargers fandom outside your home. It's durable, eye-catching, and easy to install, making it a must-have for any die-hard Chargers fan like myself.

As a die-hard Boston Celtics fan, I've always wanted to pay tribute to my favorite player in the team's history, Larry Bird. It's not every day that you come across a product that can truly bring your sports idol to life in your own home. That's where Fathead's Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal comes in!
I recently decided to redecorate my man cave with this massive, high-quality decal measuring 54" x 80" - the same size as the iconic Boston Celtics jersey Larry Bird used to wear. I must say, the installation process was a breeze thanks to its highly durable vinyl material and easy-to-follow instructions. Plus, it doesn't leave any residue on the walls, making it a perfect choice for rented spaces.
One of my personal favorites about this wall decal is its official NBA licensing. It's amazing to see such attention to detail, with vivid colors and intricate designs that capture Larry Bird's signature style perfectly. Not to mention, it looks awesome with the other Fathead wall decals I have throughout the room!
However, one minor downside is that the decal may not be as easy to remove as it is to apply. I had to use some elbow grease to get everything off when repositioning it, but it wasn't a deal-breaker by any means.
In conclusion, the Fathead Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal has transformed my man cave into a true Boston Celtics haven. Its high-quality materials, ease of installation, and impressive attention to detail make it an absolute must-have for any die-hard Larry Bird fan or Boston Celtics supporter.

đź”—Cam Newton Carolina Panthers Wall Decal

https://preview.redd.it/9k9wsegqka5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b5b111f9627663053291ec03e06b9ccf9eaf372
I'm a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan, and when I found out about this life-size Cam Newton wall decal from Fathead, I knew I had to have it. I've been using it in my man cave for a few weeks now, and it really sets off the vibe I was going for. It's huge, detailed, and is a constant reminder of my love for the Panthers.
The installation was relatively easy, but I did need a friend to help me with the positioning because of its size. The 3D effect is quite impressive, and it feels like I have Cam Newton himself on my wall! The material is high quality and seems like it will hold up well over time. The only downside is that it does collect some dust, but a quick wipe with a damp cloth solves that issue.
All in all, this Fathead sticker has been a great addition to my Panthers-themed space. It's a perfect blend of visual appeal and ease of installation, making it a must-have for any dedicated fan.

đź”—Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs 3-Pack Life-Size Decals

https://preview.redd.it/y95dboxqka5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f73678e3e4302c644cc1d86f991ff2b3a14c36f
As a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, I couldn't resist grabbing the Fathead Patrick Mahomes 3-pack wall decals to show off my love for the team. The high-definition graphics are incredibly detailed and lifelike, making it seem like Mahomes is jumping straight off the wall.
One of the standout features of these decals is how easy they are to install. The non-damaging adhesive ensures that they're easy to remove and reposition without leaving any residue on your walls, making them perfect for rented spaces or if you just like to switch up your decor from time to time.
Another feature I absolutely love about these decals is the entertainment value they bring. Friends and family alike are always amazed by how realistic and detailed the images are, leading to countless conversations and discussions about the Chiefs and their legendary quarterback.
However, one minor drawback I've noticed with these decals is that they can have trouble sticking to textured walls. While it's not a dealbreaker for me, it's worth considering if your walls have a lot of texture before making a purchase.
All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with my Fathead Patrick Mahomes 3-pack wall decals and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to show off their love for the Kansas City Chiefs in a fun and eye-catching way.

đź”—Pittsburgh Steelers Cameron Heyward Removable Wall Decal 3-Pack

I recently got my hands on a Fathead Cameron Heyward Pittsburgh Steelers 3-Pack Life-Size Removable Wall Decal, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for my sports-loving household. From the moment it arrived, I could tell this wasn't your average wall decal. The quality of the ink and canvas is unbeatable, resulting in a rich, vibrant print that will last for years.
One feature that stood out for me was how easy it was to install. I'm not exactly a handyman, but even I could manage to get it up on the wall in no time - no tools required! Plus, with the ability to remove and reposition it without damaging the walls, I know our decor can evolve as our interests change.
However, there's one downside that might matter to some folks: the size. At life-size, these decals are undoubtedly eye-catching, but they might not suit every space. If you're looking for something more subtle or need to fit a small area, this might not be the best choice.
All in all, though, I'm absolutely thrilled with my Fathead Cameron Heyward Pittsburgh Steelers 3-Pack Life-Size Removable Wall Decal. It's a perfect blend of entertainment value and craftsmanship, and it's brought an exciting new energy to our home.

As a sports fan who has recently found a new favorite wall accessory, I can't stress enough how satisfying it is to have this Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal in my space. The decal's high resolution is a game-changer for fans like me who are looking for a way to showcase their passion without sacrificing style.
One of the standout features of this product is its incredible durability. Made from tear-resistant vinyl, it's not only tough but also super easy to apply and remove - perfect for those who might be indecisive about their room décor. Plus, at 54" x 80", it certainly holds its own as a life-size wall decoration that truly captures the essence of basketball legend Larry Bird.
However, there's a downside to the decal's size. While its sheer scale might be perfect for some fans, it could also be a challenge for others when it comes to finding the right spot to install it. But rest assured, with this product's removable and reusable properties, relocating it won't be an issue.
To sum up, if you're a basketball enthusiast looking to take your love for the game to new heights (or should I say, walls? ), then this Larry Bird wall decal by Fathead should definitely be on your wish list. So go ahead, bring some iconic Larry Bird magic into your home and transform your space into an ultimate sports haven.

I recently got my hands on the Fathead Charlotte Hornets 5-Piece Mini Alumigraphic Outdoor Decal Set, and I couldn't be happier. These decals are absolutely amazing! I decided to give our backyard a fresh look, and the weather-resistant and UV-resistant properties of these decals have made a world of difference.
The adhesive backing is incredibly strong, ensuring that the decals stay put regardless of the weather conditions. Plus, the durability of these alumigraphic materials means I don't have to worry about them fading over time.
One downside is that they're a little tricky to apply, and you need to be extra careful not to leave any air bubbles or misalign them. However, once they're on, they look fantastic and really make our home stand out from the rest.
Overall, I'd highly recommend the Fathead Charlotte Hornets 5-Piece Mini Alumigraphic Outdoor Decal Set for anyone looking to add a fun and unique touch to their outdoor space. They're definitely worth the investment and I know they'll last for a long, long time.

đź”—Official Larry Bird Removable Wall Decal

As a basketball enthusiast, I always wanted to transform my man cave into a mini sports hub. Hence, when I came across the Fathead Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal, I was excited to give it a try. I must say, this wall decal exceeded my expectations!
The moment it arrived, I was instantly blown away by its high-definition, precision-cut design featuring Larry Bird in his iconic Boston Celtics jersey. It was so detailed and realistic, you'd think it was a painting rather than a vinyl decal.
Setting it up was incredibly easy. The low-tack adhesive ensured that it stuck perfectly onto my wall while still being removable without damaging the surface. It was quite large, measuring 54" x 80", but its lightweight nature made it a breeze to position.
One of the major pros of this product is its durability. Made from tear-resistant vinyl, this wall decal has withstood the test of time in my house. Despite being exposed to direct sunlight and regular wear and tear, it still looks as good as new.
What sets this wall decal apart from others is its officiallicensed partnership with the NBA. As a true Larry Bird fan, knowing that this decal is sanctioned by the NBA added an extra layer of authenticity to my room.
On the downside, its size can be quite intimidating, especially for a small space. It took up quite a bit of real estate on my wall, leaving little room for other decorations. Additionally, depending on the texture of your wall, the decal may not stick as flatly as you'd like.
However, despite these minor cons, I am thoroughly impressed with the Fathead Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal. It has undoubtedly made my man cave a more lively and inspiring space. So, if you're a Larry Bird or Boston Celtics fan looking to add some sports flair to your room, this wall decal is definitely worth considering.

đź”—Removable and Reusable Larry Bird Wall Decal

Hey there, fellow decor enthusiast! I recently got my hands on the Fathead Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for my man cave.
This vinyl wall decal is not only super durable, but also incredibly easy to install. You know how tedious it can be to hang up traditional posters? Well, say goodbye to that nightmare! The low-tack adhesive on this Larry Bird decal is a breeze to stick and peel without leaving any damage to your walls.
As a huge Celtics fan, I was absolutely thrilled to find an officially licensed NBA product that's not only eye-catching, but also incredibly lifelike. Measuring at 54" x 80", this wall decor is an absolute attention-grabber – it's like having Larry Bird himself on my wall!
However, there's one small downside that I must mention. While it peels off easily, it can be quite challenging for a first-timer to align the decal perfectly on the wall. Thankfully, with a little patience and a gentle touch, you'll have your space looking awesome in no time.
So, if you're searching for a unique way to spruce up your space, look no further than the Fathead Larry Bird Boston Celtics Life Size Removable Wall Decal. It's got a little something for everyone – from super fans to decor aficionados.

I recently embarked on a mission to transform my son's bedroom into an Avengers-themed haven. After hours of browsing through wall decor options, I came across the Fathead Avengers Assemble Collection - a set of large officially licensed Marvel removable wall decals.
I was excited about the prospect of giving my son's room a complete makeover without any permanent damage to the walls. The installation process was incredibly easy, thanks to the vinyl decal's low-tack peel-and-stick adhesive. These decals are made in the USA, which instantly added a sense of authenticity and quality to the product.
One thing that really stood out for me was how versatile these decals were. They could be repositioned without leaving any residue, making them a perfect option for parties or temporary decorations. Plus, they come with extra wall decals, allowing me to create an immersive themed space for my son.
However, there were a couple of downsides as well. While the vinyl material itself was durable, the packaging wasn't very sturdy. My decals arrived with some minor damages due to mishandling during transit. But overall, the end result was worth it - especially when I saw my son's eyes light up upon seeing his transformed bedroom.
In conclusion, the Fathead Avengers Assemble Collection is not only a fun way to add some personality to your walls but also a cost-effective and efficient alternative to traditional wall decals. Just make sure you handle the packaging carefully to avoid any damage to your decals during transit.
