2024.06.09 19:17 ComedianAgreeable152Broke the blue clip in my Clock Spring am i safe to drive?
This is EXTREMELY specific and hopefully anyone here with a 2011-2016 Hyundai Elantra can help me, Last night I replaced my clock spring myself but I slightly messed up the placement of the wiring, it wasn’t sitting as flush as I originally thought and as I went to make the turn from my driveway to the street where I normally park the blue clip that I belive holds the clock spring steady (I could be 100% wrong) broke and snapped, the wire it was holding in is still in tact and plugged in I was just curious if this is going to be a safety issue. I plan on taking the car to a family friend who’s a mechanic anyways to double check my work because working on anything around the steering wheel kinda is playing life or death if done wrong. In other news at least my horn now works!!!
2024.06.09 19:15 Hot_Chard5988Best plan for my wife
My wife and I are on separate carriers. She has two phones and a tablet on a Mobile share plan with her mother and they collectively use about 5 gigs a month. Is there a newer plan she should be looking at, or is she good where she is at.
2024.06.09 19:13 Bhallu_Restricting the language of username, first name and last name to Korean or any other language?
I am writing a website in Nuxt that only supports one language. Also, Have a plan to create a mobile application in Flutter in future. I am using keycloak as an Auth Service. On the website, I want to restrict the language of some fields like username, first and last name. The rest of the website is in Korean and the username should also be in korean. Should I make a custom theme and handle it in the front end? I am using docker container for keycloak. How should I apply my own custom theme through docker? I was also thinking of maybe using keycloak rest api to create my own custom signup and login form in my nuxt application. But I don’t know how to handle it with keycloak-js. Should I just stop using keycloak-js and just use restapi for everything or I can use them both at the same time? I have also read somewhere to not use the restapi as it is not secure. Is there any other simpler way to handle this? I don't want to change the language of admin console. Just want to restrict the language of some fields. What would be the best way to handle this? Any kind of guidance would be appreciated.
2024.06.09 19:09 WoofOfGLAGamestop Conspiracy: Barnes & Nobles Acquisition/Merger $GME $BNED $IMMR Maybe Disney 🤔 Due Diligence [This one’s for you Omar] 😅
So I was watching some of Omar’s Lives yesterday and saw some conspiracy theories and wanted to share some DD I have been doing on a possible acquisition of Barnes & Noble from Gamestop. As we know, whatever happens with Gamestop impacts other Meme plays like FFIE. News of an acquisition like this would cause GME to skyrocket! Why? Cause it involves a company with over 6000+ patents on software, technology and haptics which has partnered with companies like Sony, Microsoft, Meta & NINTENDO! I have been doing TONS of research on this and will be updating the post with links throughout the day. I have posted on BNED subreddit and also on Stocktwits so will be pasting all the info and slowly updating but feel free to let me know what you think! Reminder, this is a conspiracy post! It would be AWESOME if this happened but this is for fun! Hope you all enjoy! 🤪 —————————————————— BNED IMMR GME Due Diligence Post: Possible Acquisition? Hi Everyone! Wanted to share some DD I have been doing on Gamestop, Immersion and Barnes & Noble and a possible acquisition from Gamestop. Please feel free to share thoughts! So as we know Barnes & Noble used to own Gamestop ($GME) back in 2004. In fact, Gamestop was born from Barnes & Noble as well as Barnes & Noble Education. In 2004, both Gamestop and Barnes & Noble Education (BNED) were branched off into their own companies. Barnes & Noble Education is the part of the company that has locations within college campuses to provide students with a variety of books and services including other retail items for sale. Recently Immersion Corporation ($IMMR) finished acquiring a bunch of shares for BNED (about 30-40%). But why would a company like Immersion work with Barnes & Noble? So Immersion actually owns a ton of patents for software and haptics which is also associated with… GAMING! In fact they have also work with other large names like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. As we know, Gamestop not only sells games but also gaming consoles. A huge amount of profits generated by Gamestop comes from retail locations but with many lease agreements ending, dying malls and shopping centers, and shoppers becoming more comfortable purchashing online, how can GME become more strategic in marketing their products? Barnes & Noble Education has locations all over different College Campuses… and who loves Gaming? Well I’m sure College-Aged students like doing their fair share of gaming! With Gamestop locations fading away in decaying malls, how strategic would it be to partner with Colleges to have a location in their campus! Or better yet… acquire the company that birthed them and therefore having now the ability to put their products on sale in major campuses booming with the demographic that happens to also love gaming? Acquiring BNED would allow for expansion to College Campuses thus generating more sales! BNED has approximately 1600 locations in campuses within the US. Now with Immersion, Gamestop would have a partner (or perhaps acquire aswell) to help create new accessories, gaming consoles, and gaming software to expand this part of the business. Immersion owns a TON of patents. Working with them would allow Gamestop to create state of the art products and even games generating much more profit! Recently this month, BNED converted a ton of debt into shares. If the company wasn’t doing well, why would a company accept shares instead of cash unless they believed BNED was on the road towards success? Why would BNED work with a company like Immersion and why would they want to acquire a ton of shares of BNED? Lastly, Gamestop announced today that they had over a $1 Billion in Cash and even issued more shares. What is Gamestop preparing for? Could it be to purchase Barnes & Noble (and Barnes & Noble Education)? In 2019, Elliot Investment Management purchased Barnes & Noble for $683 Million Dollars. Barnes & Noble has approximately 600 retail stores across the US. If Gamestop acquired Barnes & Noble (Bookstores Currently Private), they would also have 600 additional locations to market their products. Gamestop and Barnes & Noble would become the ultimate Entertainment retailer! Currently Barnes & Noble sells books, CDs, Comic Books and Manga. Bookstores are located in perfect locations with enough space to host e-Sports arenas and competitions taking Gamestop to the next level! In fact, this is something Gamestop has been wanting to do for their locations in making them more interactive for their customers! It would only make sense that acquiring Barnes & Noble would allow for expansion of retail locations especially in College Campuses filled with young adults who may also love gaming! Partnering or maybe acquiring IMMR would also help pave the way for Gamestop to create their own softwares, games, consoles, and more! I believe that an acquisition from GME is not too far fetched at all and may be exactly what BNED and IMMR are preparing for! While completing some research, I noticed some users on X also posted pictures of Gamestop locations within Barnes & Noble! Are they currently testing results of having Gamestops within Barnes & Noble? In addition, with Immersion Corporation purchasing 30-40% of BNED, they have also voted to appoint new board members with the CEO of Immersion taking over as CEO of BNED. Why would a technology and software experienced CEO want to take over BNED? In 2019, a user of Linkedin posted an article about his idea of a merger between Gamestop and Barnes and Noble… in fact he even mentions that Disney should probably just buy both companies… this made me think of Omar’s live on Youtube yesterday mentioning Disney… could Disney be involved in everything happening with GME? We do know that the Governor of Florida has been bugging Disney. Are they looking for a way out or ways of growing their brand and company? What if GME, Disney and Barnes & Noble merge into one? Article can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/entertainment-merger-century-barnes-noble-gamestop-ritchotte-ii?utm_source=share&utm_medium=guest_mobile_web&utm_campaign=copy In regards to Roaring Kitty’s Memes. Roaring Kitty always talks about how GME has potential for growth and he started believing in them and made the initial videos 3 years ago… then on his stream yesterday, he mentioned he still believes in the company and hinted that something might be happening… why else would he purchase so many June 21 calls? And the picture of the gamer sitting up means he saw something that caught his eye in regards to GME. Perhaps expansion in retail through the acquisition of the mother company Barnes & Noble? He posted that picture early to mid May I believe when deal was coming out between Immersion and BNED. On the ET Video posted by Roaring Kitty, I found a user on Reddit mention how ET’s home planet is called is called the “Green Planet”. As we know, Green Haven has a 10% stake in BNED. This user on Reddit mentioned how perhaps Green Haven is representative of the “Green Planet” with ET being Gamestop returning home to Barnes & Noble. Video posted on May 17 on X. Green Haven article posted on Seeking Alpha on May 17 with Greenhaven Offer. On May 17, Roaring Kitty also posted a video from Coldplay’s The Scientist where a man is walking backwards. At the end of the video you see a bunch of trees. Greenery … again. “Green”. Walking backwards could represent Gamestop going back to it’s roots with Barnes & Noble. Perhaps Greenhaven facilitating the deal. Also on May 17, Roaring Kitty posts another video where the man asks if the papers were “originals”, as we know GME was originally part of Barnes & Noble. The video then shows a picture of a Kitty saying “Hang in there”. This could also represent Roaring Kitty saying the plan is the same as 3 years ago with his projection that Gamestop will continue to grow as a company and further emphasizing to his followers that he is solely invested in Gamestop with the original intentions as before. On the video before the “Originals”, Roaring Kitty posted another video on the 17th with a man opening a box that says “Gamestop” and later 2 men asking “what’s in the box”? As we know Gamestop just sold shares to collect more money but what could they be using the money for? Could it be to acquire the original company Barnes & Noble?
2024.06.09 19:09 Ok-Low9127Is my(28F) sex life doomed with him? (35M)
I’m (28F) losing my drive, sexually frustrated and disappointed. I know this is long but please what does a woman do from here?? I’ve never been in a relationship where my drive is higher We’ve been together 2.5 years. We have sex maybe once a month, twice If I’m lucky. Ive always been very attracted to my boyfriend and he meets my emotional needs. I’ve always had a higher sex drive than him. The frequency and quality has been a constant throughout our relationships which is not often and not for long. He has gotten better but still cannot last more than a few minutes and sometimes goes soft between positions or never gets hard at all when I touch him unless I specifically say something about being in the mood. I didn’t have any issues at first because I really just thought it would take time to explore that together and “practice” for lack of a better. I also honestly thought that when I moved in with him and we saw each other more it would improve then also. I have brought up the conversation of sex multiple times, first asking if he wasn’t attracted to me or if it didn’t feel good (his response was that it has nothing to do with attraction, he finds me sexy, but that he has performance anxiety, and intimidation from maybe lack of experience. ) I try to be very mindful of my responses to not make the situation worse bu also ask questions to understand better or figure out how we can solve it. I know what I like and have shared that with him ( more foreplay, different positions to try, I like when the man leads, blindfold/handcuffs ect) and guide him if needed. When I ask him what he likes or what turns him on ( because every relationship is different) I was always met with an almost shy “I don’t know, it all feels good” Another time I brought it up he said something along the lines of having Low T, he isn’t active because he has a desk job and hasn’t been working out and is more focused on finances so sex isn’t a priority. Understandable, he honestly is in survival mode more and more each year with pay cuts from switching jobs in this economy and job market. I have bought different lubes, toys, Viagra ( which he was open to and we’ve tried it only once and we both thought it was great. I thought wow this might actually really help pick things up off the ground. I’ve since suggested a few times we try it again, but he hasn’t He has made comments at the end of the day when we are laying in bed out of the blue “ I know you want sexy time together but I’m so tired, I’ll get you tomorrow” and never does. I’ve worn lingerie a few times spontaneously and set the mood and while that very obviously sets the night up I would love it if he also took charge and made me feel desired/wanted. This sounds like I’m an overly sexual person but I’m not nor do I really have sexual trauma either. I don’t think I’m vanilla either, I have C/D cup breast and a pretty good ass too. I’m 5’2, 150ish lbs currently. Probably gained like 20 pounds during our relationships so Im a little over weight in my mid section but definitely not very fat or obese. I make bomb ass food for us, I work full time standing on my feet all day long, I pay all my own bills, I pay a little “ rent” every month, I contribute with groceries and house things and going out to eat, I go to therapy, I work on myself and try to communicate my needs, I’ve been vulnerable with him and opened my heart up. I support him in whatever he wants to do even his expensive hobbies, we tend the dog, chickens, housework/yard work together, I tell him thank you and that I appreciate him often, we have traveled a bit to different states and a few countries together. We try to make each others life easier and better with little things throughout the day/week. We compliment each other, and outside the bedrooms he is the masculine man that I love, he is assertive and confident and does provide a lot and is pretty attentive and kind and wants to make me happy but this area of our life I feel helpless and stuck. I love him and want to connect, it’s a natural and important aspect of any romantic relationship. I would be thrilled if we could be intimate once a week but it’s been once a month maybe twice a month for a while now. He has gone down on me once with oral ( 3ish months ago) and I’ve given him oral twice since. I waited to do so because I was already feeling one sided and I know it sounds silly but BJ’s is the one area that kind of intimidate me. But I actually loved it and after the first time I bought flavored lube to try out and shared my pleasure about it with him and he was of course happy also. In between all this, last fall he made a wierd comment while I was rubbing him down that it would feel good to get a ball massage for like an hour, not sexually just like a back massage but for your balls. . Well alarm bells went off immediately and a few weeks later I was looking at his text messages and he had recently messaged an escort asking about services and what her schedule was like. He never responded to the last message and they never set a date and time. I brought it up to him and said I’m not proud I looked at your phone but I had a hunch and it was right. I shared how hurt I was especially because I’ve been actively trying to improve ours and communicate about it and he messages a fucking escort. I told him that I’m not okay with that at all, that to me it’s a form of cheating and I feel betrayed. I asked if they ever met up and he said No I would be too nervous to actually do anything, it was just a thrill of excitement. About a month later I walked into his office one night and he was actively watching porn. I stood there for a second while he scrambled and was embarrassed. I turned around and went back to bed. I was shocked because I didn’t think he was watching porn ( My ex husband had a porn problem and I’ve shared this with him, but with my ex he was more aggressive and was always hard/high sex drive so I was naive to think he didn’t watch porn when our sex life sucks and he doesn’t seem interested) like what the hell? I’m literally right here in front of you a real person who WANTS to??? I believe he probably uses Reddit for porn. Whether it’s when he is in the bathroom on the toilet for 30 min at 4am or 8am or 8pm I don’t know it doesn’t really matter but it’s not helping and out sex life that’s already tanking and I don’t think he cares. He says he wants to make me happy and he is aware of my needs but nothing changes and I want to feel desired or like the man I’m dating is not just a glorified roommate. I don’t think I would care if he uses pork on his own if our sex life was better, but I hate it because he obviously uses that to get his needs instead of connecting. Last weekend I was so frustrated, I was reading Gottmans book about Intamcy and took what I was reading later when we were talking about plans for dinner and I flirtatiously said what if we spent some time together tonight to nourish our bodies;) He got the message and said don’t worry about fter dinner tonight we’ll spend time together. I made dinner, we watched a show together, he went upstairs to finish some work so I was getting ready for bed and he never came to bed. It was like 11pm or 1am I don’t remember and he said In so sorry I had some work to catch up on but we will in the morning ( He was leaving the following day for a work trip) we never did in the morning either. He left, came home a few days later for one day, left again for a few days during which I was also out of town for 2 days. I got home and since then he has been extra sweet and kind, we had some intimate time together which I loved and at the ends his same response is always “ I thought I had it this time, I really thought I was going to last longer but it feels too good” This isn’t a case of lack of communication either, I don’t make him read my mind about anything but dammit I’m tired of asking for it, being the one to bring it up, the one to imitated the interest, but if I don’t it’s like he is clueless and satisfied anyways from porn. Do we go to therapy? Do I cut my loses and nove on? Is porn not the problem??
2024.06.09 19:05 CapablePolicy3996Is the IRR worth it?
I am currently in the reserves. I moved states and really do not want to transfer units and get accumulated to new command, soldiers, etc. I only have less than year in my reserves contract left (Till may 2025). My options are transferring units, or enlisting into the IRR. My old unit was great but they only refund up to 500 for plane tickets and my flights are around 480 ish, not mention having to coordinate transportation with others, etc. I’m a pretty independent person so that would be too much for me to handle. Should I transfer to the IRR? The retention sergeant said the minimum I would have to sign is 3 years with the IRR. I plan on starting school next year so I really needed to be done with the military. How time taxing is the IRR? What are my chances of getting deployed? What’s your experience with the IRR?

2024.06.09 19:01 tikigalAnyone ever used the airport wheelchairs?
I had been doing really well for a while, and my husband and I planned a trip. So of course I got COVID. Last day of Paxlovid, out of isolation, symptoms all but resolved, will test again tomorrow. But 4,000 steps around the house and 20 minutes of yoga yesterday was enough to knock me flat with PEM. I plan to do as little as possible before our trip starts a week from today. But it occurred to me that a wheelchair at the airport would help so I’m not standing on line for security and customs. I’m concerned that because I am technically mobile (my legs work just fine) I could get some resistance, attitude, or even harassment if someone sees me get up out of my wheelchair and say walk to the bathroom with no issue. Anyone have any experience with this?

2024.06.09 18:56 DoorTheDudeCounting down Worm's 13th birthday by ranking the Top 7 Arcs in my opinion Day 5
We're already here at day five, we are so close to Worm's birthday. So let's not dilly dally I want to get right into it. Honorable mentions list: Arc 20 Chrysalis Arc 12 Plague Arc 19 Scourge Arc 11 Infestation The Top 7 Arcs in Worm according to my opinion:
Arc 16 Monarch
Arc 24 Crushed
Arc 30 Speck
Arc 31 Teneral
Today's Honorable Mention: Arc 3 Agitation This is where the story finally picks up. Most people only remember the bank heist from this Arc, which I don't blame them, it's lots of fun with that and the fighting with Wards. But I also enjoyed the slower pace in the beginning with Taylor sparring with Brian, the planning of the bank heist itself, and her conversation with Armsmaster which is great on a re-read when you're not biasely rooting for Taylor, the conversation with Tattletale explaining how being a cape is a high risk game of cops and robbers, then the bank heist and fight with the Wards, I have read that fight over and over again. Finally closing with Worm's introduction of gray morality with the Brockton Bay Wards interlude. Soild arc this, soild arc. 3. Arc 27 Extinction: If I was doing a list of the best Arc titles, this would win, and it would win by a mile. Just that name gives me chills. I was scared to read this Arc because I was so terrified for the characters. I think it's amazing what great writing can do and how it can influence your feelings. The opening where Brockton Bay is just destroyed after having been built up as our main setting for the majority of the story. Wildbow certainly isn't afraid to destroy what he's created. Taylor and Rachel do some search and rescue before going to Earth Gimel with the rest of the refugees and she runs into Emma's family who seemingly blame her for Emma's death, which I mean no, granted because of what happened to her back in arc 20 she felt like she had nothing to fall back on having her worldview destroyed so fell into a deep depression and refused to leave her room but at the end of the day I feel like that was Emma's choice not to leave so thereby Taylor is not responsible in any way shape or form. But that's just me.
Alan, Emma’s dad, had lost weight since I’d seen him last. He’d noticed me, and looked up, staring, his eyes red. His wife sat in a lawn chair beside him, while Emma’s older sister sat on a blanket at her mother’s feet, her mother resting one hand on her head. Zoe’s -Emma’s mom’s- eyes were wet. Emma’s sister looked equally upset. Emma wasn’t in sight. I could guess what they were crying about. Alan was staring at me now, and there was an inexplicable accusation in the look. His wife took his hand and held it, but he didn’t move his eyes a fraction. When Anne, Emma’s sister, looked up at me, there was a glimmer of the same. A hint of blame.
Then we go into the meeting with Cauldron, this is pretty much the final big debriefing. We watch from Defiant going off on Saint, Grue having a silent panic attack as Bonesaw is there, and everyone letting out their anger on Cauldron whether they be the Irregulars or Taylor herself. Moving forward comes with Taylor's conversation with Sophia, Shadow Stalker. I love this conversation. Sophia winning gold in mental gymnastics as she's convinced herself that she's the reason why Taylor is such a successful cape just so she doesn't have to concede her worldview. To me Taylor through this conversation overcomes her trauma, it ties up her own personal loose end with it. And for me, there was no other point in the story where I was as proud of Taylor as I was by the end of this conversation.
I felt okay with this decision. Comfortable. It wasn’t a mask I was wearing, so strong it might as well have been real. No. It was something simpler. I’m not scared of her anymore.
Then comes the Birdcage villains, a real selection of who's who. I want to know more about some of these villains, specifically String Theory. I can almost hear what her voice sounds like and visualize her mannerisms. I sure wish Scion didn't off her, but we'll get to that in a second. Then leads to my third favorite chapter in the entire series 27.4. Taylor sitting down with Glaistig Uaine is such a fascinating conversation, Uaine only addressing people by their shard name is so creepy but I can't help but love it. I also love this little tidbit of Taylor thinking what she would look like if she got claimed.
What if I fell in battle? Would she claim me? Would I become like that? What form would that body take? Skitter, Weaver, or a blending of the two?
The way Uaine views the world like people are actors and everyone has a part to play, her talking about Eidolon, and her talking about Scion, she's such a fascinating character. She ends the conversation by telling Taylor she can't wait to collect her shard. I absolutely love this. Then Taylor picks out her costume in ways that symbolizes her and her journey, picking out a black costume with white plates, attribute to both Weaver and Skitter, a handgun reminding her of her first kill, Coil, and pepper spray reminding her of her first night out in costume. I really do love this chapter. The oil rig battle, there are so many thoughts that come to my head when I think about this scene. Another fight that fully convinced me despite there being more arcs left in the book I was fully convinced the story was coming to an end here. Some things are went over such as Lab Rat giving out arm bands and Chevalier commenting on why they're out on a oil rig in the middle of nowhere
“It’s isolated, to minimize chances he can track us somehow,” Chevalier said. “And we have a good escape route. Not to mention it’s the furthest point from Scion.”
This would not age well. Then group after group attack Scion doing whatever they can seeing what might work, but then comes my girly String Theory. With her one of a kind, never seen before G-driver. She fucking smokes Scion, well not really but it was something more than what anyone else had done. During my first time reading this it was in that moment of triumph that I had a thought that I remember distinctly. "Hold on a second, Scion is a God basically. If he really wanted to he could just find them. No that wouldn't happen, that would feel too narratively unfair." I moved on and kept listening, oh boy, you could imagine my reaction when it was revealed Scion was above them staring down getting ready to actually smoke them. I could not believe what I was listening to. This line from the book summarized my feelings at the time.
“Oh god,” someone said. “Oh god, oh god.”
I love what great fiction can make you feel. Scion sends down his golden light bomb and takes out most of the people on the oil rig, Taylor gets dismembered and does everything she can to survive. Using her bugs, using the serum Lab Rat had made. She done ends up with an incredibly deformed body but it saves her and ends up with the Irregulars and has a lovely conversation. I love Weld so much and same with Sveta she's adorable.
“Be brave, Sveta,” Weld murmured. “I just tell myself I need to act like you,” Sveta’s voice came from within the sphere.
I love this conversation as they're trying to convince Weld to go with them as this chaotic battle between some of the strongest capes in the universe battle against Scion. After the conversation with Weld Taylor does what she can to help in the fight against Scion. It does not go well, but I love the fact that no matter what Taylor is always willing to try. No matter what. Taylor dives into the water after Eidolon send some flying into the water, as she tries using every bug from under the water against him. And as she realizes that she fails she looks up and sees Uaine looking down eagerly for her shard. But Taylor gets saved by the bell as she falls deeper and deeper into the water and a portal opens. I love Worm. Then comes the interlude, Eidolon's interlude. Eidolon is a character I overlook but I think he's an interesting case of this is all I have so I will give my life to this because the alternative is worse. I will say though in the same interlude he has such an amazing fight with Scion, oh my goodness probably the biggest power scale fight outside of Gold Morning. But even for the one fight that feels like power versus power switching between the current events and his backstory goes back to fights and Worm pulling at your heartstrings during these. But this ends with a very iconic line, Scion uses his path to victory and finds the one way to break David.
You needed worthy opponents
Day five is in the books and now we're on to say six, my goodness gracious Worm's birthday is fast approaching and I feel like I'm starting to get a little bit better at these. With that let me know what I can do better. As always, I appreciate you taking time out of your day to read this and I'll see you tomorrow.
2024.06.09 18:49 rainbowpotatExperience with parking permits?
For folks who are fairly mobile most of the time what was your breaking point for requesting a parking permit? I am an occasional cane user at the moment, mostly for dizziness or occasional limb stiffness/spasticity. 95% of the time I feel fine walking from farther away but when it's hot or things are flaring parking lots (and esp garages) give me vertigo and present some challenges. Grocery stores, etc, are fine, I can park by the cart corral and grab a cart, if I'm holding onto something I feel ok, but I'm starting grad school in the fall and am stressing about parking if I have a bad day. Just looking for experience/advice for others here. I'm capable enough that it feels wrong to ask for a permit at this point, I don't want to use it when others have things a lot tougher and I might be taking resources from someone who needs it more. It feels like jumping the gun since I'm still ok most of the time, but I am also worried about my capacity once I start this new thing. Right now planning to just wait and see how it goes.
I wanted to share a project for intermediate HTML designers. I'll include the code and steps for each part. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Step 1: Setting Up The Project
Start by preparing your environment to develop an interactive photo gallery with HTML. If you want to dive straight in, I'd recommend following along with me using our online coding environments. We’ll use some JavaScript for this project, so I’d recommend using an online JavaScript compiler to build with. I will also outline the steps for you to create the necessary files and organize your workspace on your own computer. Just follow these, and you'll have a solid foundation for your project. i. Choose an IDE or Editor Before you start, choose an IDE or editor tailored for web development. I favor Visual Studio Code (VSCode). It's for HTML and CSS and a solid choice if you’d prefer to build on your own machine. ii. Install Necessary Plugins If you choose VSCode, consider installing VSCode extensions like "Live Server" to preview your HTML pages in real time and "Prettier" for code formatting. These tools will make your development process smoother and more efficient. iii. Create a New HTML Project Once your editor is set up, it's time to create a new project:
Open your editor and select the option to create a new project or folder.
Name your project folder something descriptive, like "InteractivePhotoGallery."
Inside this folder, create three files: index.html for your HTML content, styles.css for your CSS styles, and script.js for your JavaScript logic.
iv. Set Up a Basic HTML Structure Open your index.html file and set up a basic HTML structure. Here’s a simple template to get you started:
Interactive Photo Gallery Header content like a title or a navigation bar Gallery content will go here
Here's the compiler where you can try it. This is the basic structure every HTML project that uses JavaScript starts with. We've got our DOCTYPE, HTML tag, head section (with meta tags, title, and links to our CSS and JavaScript files), and the body where our content will go. This basic structure also introduces the JavaScript file linked with the defer attribute, ensuring it loads after the HTML content. v. Prepare for CSS and JavaScript Development Make sure your styles.css is linked correctly, and your script.js is set to load at the right time in your HTML file to start adding styles and functionality in the next steps. vi. Verify Project Setup To ensure everything is set up correctly, try opening your index.html with the Live Server plugin or directly in your browser. You should see a blank page with the basic document structure ready to be filled with content. And there you have it! You’ve successfully set up your environment to create an interactive photo gallery with HTML. Next, you'll create the HTML structure for your interactive photo gallery.
Step 2: Creating the HTML Structure
With your development environment ready, it’s time to construct the HTML skeleton of your interactive photo gallery. i. Create the Header Section The header will introduce your gallery. You might want to include a catchy title or a brief description:
My Photo Gallery
Explore my collection of high-quality images ranging from landscapes to portraits.
Caption for image 1
Repeat for other images
This sets the tone and context for the visitors of your gallery. ii. Set Up the Gallery Section This main part will hold all your images in a grid or other layout:
Caption for image 1
Repeat for other images
Replace "path-to-image-1.jpg" with the actual path to each image. Ensure that each image has an appropriate alt text for accessibility. iii. Include a Filter Section (Optional) If your gallery is large, consider adding filters to help viewers sort images by categories:
These buttons are set up to trigger JavaScript functions that will filter the gallery based on the category. iv. Add a Modal for Image Viewing (Optional) To enhance the interactivity, include a modal that opens when an image is clicked, allowing for a closer view:
×
This section will be controlled via JavaScript to display images dynamically when clicked. Here’s a summary of what we've accomplished in this step:
Structured the Page Content: Created distinct sections like the header and gallery, employing semantic HTML for better accessibility and SEO.
