Navy e4 over 4, wanting to figure out the difference between my current pay and e5 pay. So far as I can tell it’s only a $168-300 difference; I’m not sure since i cannot tell if these calculators online account for taxes.. on the surface level it appears that if I rank up, at most I’m only making a couple hundred dollars more if that. Currently my checks are $2829. If you check on federal pay.0rg, it says that an e5 with 6 years gets $2872 per check. There’s no way this is correct right? Lol. If so, why would I rank up? There’s also articles floating around talking about a 5% raise (or 12) for e1-4 pay grades.. these articles may not be fully explaining the details but this looks like it’s too good to be true

The contract for our 988 crisis hotline, managed by Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners (RMCP) which is currently one of the best in the country - and one of the few that we feel confident referring LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse people to - has been discontinued and awarded instead to a company called Solari based in AZ, who claim they can do the work of 330 current employees with 70 employees. We know that this is anti-trans motivated, but it would impact mental health and endanger the lives of many thousands of Coloradans, irregardless of gender or orientation. It would also completely throw away over $20 Million of Colorado tax dollars spent in the last 2 years to get 988 to where it is today.
This would drastically reduce the answer rate and the quality of care that we send our mental health clients, friends, family and community members in crisis to, as well as create a complete disruption in this critical life-saving service for at least 2 months.
Because they did not make this major decision public, there are only 3 days left in the protest period for the decision, and our only course of action now is to apply political pressure and lend our many voices to our legislators and key players, whose emails I am including below, with a script for an email below to make it as quick and easy as possible for you to take action.

There are more very dismaying details about how this went down in bullet points below, which I have pulled from emails, meeting minutes and conversations over the last several days while trying to get to the bottom of this:
The problem was started because RMCP serves trans youth, and does a lot of LGBTQ+ training for staff.
Only 3 of 9 voting members made this decision, all of whom had explicit bias against RMCP over anti-trans sentiments and LGBTQ+ training
These same people also CORA demanded the names and salaries of all 330 RMCP employees, which the BHA released to them. Many at RMCP legitimately fear this was a political maneuver to target LGBTQ+ and trans employees.
RMCP has filed a CORA request as well and is inquiring what lead to this decision and why, why the contact was dropped and what the original communication was.
This was NOT done out of a bid.
The state is yet to publicly announce that Solari were the winners of the procurement. The way RMCP found out was through having to do a CORA request.
The request for proposal (RFP) requirements specifically stated that the new vendor has to be ready to go July 1st. Solari said that they will need 150 days to be ready to go once a contract is signed. A contract has not yet been signed, meaning there will likely be a lull in services.
RMCP’s staff were notified on 4/12 that we did not get the RFP and that their jobs were no longer secured. This has resulted in RMCP’s staff being in crisis while also having to provide crisis services, which has already impacted phone coverage due to the use of mental health days, and turnover as staff secure other jobs
RMCP’s CEO is a female person of color who lives in Colorado. Solari’s CEO is a white male who lives in Arizona
Solari claims that 70 people could do the work of 400 by outsourcing jobs to their Arizona and Oklahoma call centers, not hiring leadership positions in Colorado, “less raining”, and under bidding actual need. i.e. claiming that only 10 peer support specialists are needed to run a 24/7 service currently achieving less than 100% answer rates with 50 people
RMCP has partnerships with every county in Colorado in order to dispatch mobile crisis response, and with over 75 hospitals to complete hospital follow up services. Solari has not built these connections, so there will likely be further disruption in crucial lifesaving care to Coloradans.
The bidding process was biased:
There was no scoring criteria given to bidding sites before applications were due. Every other year there has been.
Previously the scoring of proposals was conducted by a panel of community organizations and individuals who represent Colorado to prevent bias, and had roughly 8-12 reviewers/scorers,
This year there was only 3 (a BHA employee, a 988 Enterprise Board Member, and a representative from the Department of Health Care Policy & Finance (HCPF),
All 3 individuals held bias against RMCP.
Two of the individuals included as scorers were part of the process to CORA release the names and salaries of all RMCP employees, which could lead to targeting them.
RMCP is currently in a process of protesting the outcome. However the people who decide if the protest is successful are the same 3 people who provided the initial scoring and have bias against RMCP.

I'm a semi-pro photographer (I hesitate to call myself a pro as there is still lots to learn but I do have my own pet photography business that's been open for about 4 years).
I'm currently shooting with a 70d and am looking into a new body so I can start shooting with 2 bodies, using my 70d as the secondary. My current second body is just a T7, and I really notice a quality difference when I use it periodically (more noise at higher iso, kind of a pain to adjust settings quickly being a entry level camera).
My main lenses are Sigma 18-35 EF, Sigma 18-135 EF and Canon 55-200 EFS (which I know EFS do not work on full frames and I have accepted that).
I rarely shoot from a distance, usually only for events where my 2nd body is in use (which I would intend to use my 70d + 55-200). I mainly photograph pets, and am often in very close quarters shooting at my shortest focal length. I feel like I would benefit from a full frame body as I often struggle to get my full subjects in frame, especially when I am shooting in a smaller space (I often set up a portable backdrop and lights in people's homes as I unfortunately don't have a studio yet).
Ive been checking out some used versions of the 5D Mark III, which seems to be within my current budget. Ideally because this is more of a want than a "need", I'm trying to stay within the 400-700 dollar range, which I know is a stretch for any full frame
Advice on if the 5d Mark III would even be considered an upgrade in this situation? Are there any other full frames in that price range that are worth checking out?
I loved the specs of the 1DX but it's just not within my reach at this point of my small business.

I got back from a 9 hour shift today, breakfast going into lunch. Here is a list of things that have happened...

1. An old man flirted with me and asked for my number. This happened with multiple older men, a lot of which are regulars, throughout the day

I told him I just closed the drawer, but if he really needs it I'd have to get my manager but they're busy atm. He sped off to the second window in anger
   
4. An older man pulled up to my driv thru lane, and immediately started screaming "HELLO?! IS ANYONE THERE??". I took his order, and he said he wanted a "big breakfast, AND hotcakes and sausage". So I rang him up for a big breakfast and the pancakes with sausage meal. I told him his total and he got treated and asked why I was charging him for extra pancakes and sausage. I apologized and explained my mistake, and he got mad. He said he wanted the big breakfast WITH pancakes and sausage. I fixed it and he told me "you need to pay attention and do your job better". I replied back "maybe you should clarify yourself better"
   
5. Some dude that was clearly high on cannabis asked me for a "mocha caramel frappe with extra ice, and a sausage chicken biscuit with onions". This wasn't bad, but it was pretty funny lol

This is going to be a long post, with as much detail as I can provide. Thank you in advance for reading it if you do so.
I currently suffer from General pain as well as pain and numbness in my extremeties. as well as being tired all the time and not getting good sleep. I have tried everything I can think of and was conviced for a long time that it was Fibromyalgia, due to the general tiredness, my nose running after eating lunch many days, not everyday but more often than not. as well as some other things I can't think of. I spent well over a year trying to get a referal to a Rhemetologist and finally was able to see one yesterday. She told me in the first few minutes it wasn't Fibro. Not sure how she knew right away but she seemed very very sure. She seemed very dismissive of my pain and said that all of my symptoms were due to the general deteriation in my back. Since I have had multiple MRIs and all of them say the degeneration is in a different location, all of them have stated there is nothing wrong with my back I find this difficult to beleive.
I have difficulty doing anything due to my pain and am currently taking alot of Opiates as well as cymbalta and seem to be stable on my current medications. However my pain management doctor wants to reduce the Percaset from 150/mo to 120/mo Which I realize is still 4/day and should be fine. I currently take 3/day every day just to get by and am still in a lot of pain. I am no stranger to pain, I have broken multiple bones so am familiar with pain. I generally have a high tolerance for pain. I have been on percaset for 6 years and have taken progressively more since I started 7 years ago.
I am an open book and happy to answer any questions that might help, I realize you probably can't diagnose me based on this brief summary. However, any direction that might help me mitigate my pain and make it so I don't have to take so many pills everyday would be greatly appreciated. I feel like if I could just figure out what is wrong with me, get an actual diagnosis then I could get on meds that would help manage my condition and then wouldn't have to feel like a drug seeker every month when I go to my Pain management doctor and the pharmacy. More and more lately I just feel like no one beleives me about my pain and they all think I just want more drugs. I don't really, I would love to not be in pain and not need to take opiates to just go to work and be able to survive.

I have been struggling for YEARS. Now, I’ve made a LOT of progress in this time. My life is WAY better. But, I still struggle in ways I KNOW are unnecessary.
Having been a long time student of philosophy, Eastern religion, mysticism (though I’m a skeptical atheist, there are babies in the bath water) psychology, pop-psychology, self help, healing modalities etc etc. literally several hundred books.
I was asking myself “what’s going on? Why do I have ALL the answers and yet, here I am, still struggling.” I was extraordinarily intent on getting “the” answer.
I did a low-ish dose of mushrooms and went to the park and was just intently asking this question over and over.
Then it hit me. It’s SO fucking simple. I share the insight in hopes that a couple people will “get it” and be able to escape the apparent trap that resembles what I am in. I saw it all at once, but have to share it in a few “facts”.
Warning: this is not pleasant. I couldn’t believe I “wasted” over half a lifetime ignoring these things, when they are SO obvious.
Facts:

1. The universe/reality doesn’t care. It doesn’t know you exist. It is just being as it is. Full stop.

This means it’s not “on your side” it’s not “against you” it’s just there being. When acted upon, it will react according to its nature, every fucking time. The universe is NOT a “problem” and it’s not an “opportunity” it JUST IS.

1. There isn’t an option that doesn’t exist for you. There are myriad options for you. And all of them exist.

Now you might say “but, if I had a million dollars to start a business, I could succeed”. But, if you don’t have the million, then this isn’t an option, by definition. It simply isn’t. It doesn’t exist. Thus, each apparent option that you don’t have is simply a thought, an idea, a DENIAL OF FACT ONE.
When you don’t want to acknowledge fact one, you create thoughts about non-existent options. You create a world that doesn’t exist as an escape mechanism from the ruthless fact above.
If an option exists, it does. If it doesn’t, it exists as mere thought. Period.

1. For each extant option there are things you can do to bring it about. If there isn’t something you can do to make it real, it isn’t an option.

Formulating “if I could only _. Then I could have __” is an avoidance mechanism of the above fact, fact 2.
If you don’t know what to do, the action is to find out. This is, of course, an action.
If there isn’t anything you can do about it, it is NOT an option for you. Really.
(Warning, it’s about to get real, you will be triggered)

1. Each action has an emotional price tag. There is a way you will feel when you take the action. Often, it won’t be a feeling you want to feel.

You may see that you should “call X and ask Y” and immediately you feel trepidation. The feeling is the price tag for the action that will bring about the desired condition.
It is the emotion unwillingness to experience this feeling that prevents you from acting. Full stop.
When you decide not to act, because you don’t want to feel the way you will feel, this is an avoidance and denial mechanism of the above fact, fact 3.

1. Unwillingness to pay the emotional price is the cause of confusion and delusion.

There is a simplicity to this “I want X, I must therefore do Y and I will feel Z”. But when you are unwilling to pay the emotional price, you try to concoct ways around feeing Z. These are increasingly indirect and convoluted.
This, you guessed it, is the denial of fact 4.
It is so painfully simple, do the thing, have the condition. Don’t, and you won’t.

1. Whatever you do, you become, instantly. If you want to be a “runner” you must simply run. If you want to be a painter, you must paint.

Whatever you want to “be” you must do. Example: want to be “brave” you must do the thing you fear. You don’t have to “get rid of the fear” first, in fact, if you did that successfully and then took the same action, you would NOT be brave.
There are a myriad intentions and motives within you, the ones you act on determines what you are. If you act on the faint call to be kind, you are a kind person.
Not acting on the thing you want, is a denial of the above fact, fact 5.

1. Any thought or action, repeated, get easier (relative to conditions) and repeated often enough it will be easier to do it than to not. This is what a “habit” is.

So, if you want to be a runner, you must run. And, it will be “hard” which is to say there will be a high initial price tag. This price will lower each time the process is repeated. Eventually the emotional price for running will be less then that of not running. Now, you will “identify” as a runner, or painter, singer etc.
The dark side of this is that the fact is neutral. So, if you repeat avoidance and denial as outlined above, this will be how you see yourself, and this will be your life. This IS YOUR LIFE. (if you struggle as I have.)
This is both the source and the result of the denial of the fact above.

1. One of the primary drives of a human is to be “self consistent”. This is a force that will operate to change your view of reality, so that you don’t feel the discomfort of “being wrong”

So, when you start to “see yourself” as a runner it creates a desire to run, so that you won’t feel the “pain” of self inconsistency. Of course, if you forego the the same force will work to make you avoid running.
This is why you are the person you are, the good aspects and the bad. It’s an impersonal fact of being human. It’s the “hardware” you have. However you show up in the world is the “software”.
The failure to be the person you want to be is the denial of fact 7, repeated.

1. You are going to die. Sorry to be the one to tell you, but at some point which you may infuence but not decide, this will be all over and the reality you perceive will no longer exist. Others will be left, themselves waiting to die.

What you do between now that moment IS YOUR LIFE. Your ONE AND ONLY LIFE.
You are alive now and you have many options. FAR more than you could ever become aware of. What you do about the above facts regarding the condition of your life is your life. What you have done prior to this moment is only information stored in your mind.
This is urgent.
The denial of this fact underlies the denial of all the others. If you felt the actual urgency, you would pick an option appealing to you and act.

1. The process of applying the above facts is truly LIVING rather than waiting to die.

Think about the times you have really felt alive. See that you were in alignment with the above facts. Think of the good parts of life, this is why they are good.
Likewise the aspects of your life that suck, you will find the above delusions at play. And the lows in your life will be times you were mired in the delusions.
I’m sure most people are trying to find the exceptions, which may indeed exist. You can do everything right and get hit by a bus. (Bonus fact)
Still, I would propose to you that the reason you are seeking the exceptions in the first place is to be “self consistent” and to not feel as you would were you to acknowledge them.
The search for the exceptions IS YOUR DELUSION at work.
I know this is harsh, but it’s meant with love. Really. You have ti accept your human-ness and let go the mistakes up til now. Forgive yourself. Be willing to pay the emotional price and if you feel sad, or like me, angry at yourself this is simply you paying the emotional price, in real time. You’re doing the right thing!
Now what? That’s for you to decide. Decide what you want and pick an action you are currently willing to pay the price for and. DO IT. Repeat.
If you don’t know what you want, then the first action is to make a decision.
Figure out what you want, find an action you can do and are willing to pay the price for an do it. Repeat. This is ALWAYS the answer.
This is truly living instead of waiting to die.

Oh, and be patient with yourself. It takes as long as it takes and you don’t get to decide this. All you get to decide is whether or not you will truly LIVE while you’re alive.

Looking at a chart of the 7 day yield on Schwab’s website the yield was never below 5.15% for the last month, but the distribution that just happened was only around 4.84% annualized. Looking at the previous month the distribution was higher, like 5.55% annualized. Averaged together the last two months give 5.19%, so about right for their published 7 day yield averaged over that time period, but in that case the published 7 day yield was wrong for both of the last two months. But I’d guess that was why this month’s distribution was low. I’m only out a few dollars from an increased swvxx balance this month vs last earning the lower rate for the past month so not the end of the world, but it’s still kind of weird.
Edit - I had a brain fart and the above is for the previous 2 months - Feb - April, not Mar - May. They haven't published the May distribution yet even though it's been distributed.

Queue 2 years ago - Rapid deterioration of symptoms. I now cant leave my house. I live in constant pain and bloating. "Ok" i figure, time to stop going to different doctors. Pick the best one and stick with him.
So i open the website with the doctors, pick the best GI one based on reviews and queue an appointment. Its online trough the phone because he now works in some fancy hospital in UK. Great i figure - he's too good for my shithole country, he might actually solve the case.
We make the video call, he listens to me for an hour and a half. An hour and a fucking half, that's more than the 13 before him combined. He says "Let me think this trough and ill get back to you". Great.
He writes back after a day - "I want to call a forum in the ultra famous university hospital in London. I want to invite leading doctors in all the relevant fields - allergologist, dermatologist, whatevergist (4 more). It will cost you 5k though - do you want to do it?"
"Sure" i say. Maybe finally we get somewhere. 5k is like 2 monthly salaries in my shithole country, but im ok on money, i can afford that easily. He gives me his own fucking personal Revolut. No red flags there, huh?
Anyway, the "forum" passes. He gets back to me.
"Its all stress related OP. Its IBS-D due to stress. The forum is unanimous and the diagnosis is certain. Here is your treatment":

I go to another GI doctor for a second opinion. "Its IBS-D due to stress mate, go to a psychiatrist".
"Ok" i figure. "Time to dive in the deep". I go to a psychiatrist. I tell him my symptoms. I tell him im a bit under the weather, which is understandable being unable to leave my house and in constant discomfort. "The body symptoms are psychosomatic which means you are SEVERELY depressed. Here are these 2 HEAVY antidepressants. Take one in the morning the other in the evening. "
I try. I fail. Too many side effects. Queue arguments with the wife because i refuse treatment.
I try with a different psychiatrist. Same diagnosis. Another treatment. Same result. Cant keep at it.
More arguments with the wife. Now she is properly mad and wants to leave me because im constantly mad and in a bad mood. This has been going on for 2 years. I dont leave the house. Im 32. Everyone is telling me im insane. Sad.
I start reading up the internet for rare diseases. I basically turn myself into a mini Gastroenterologist. I read everything concerning IBS.
I do every test i can think of. Microbiome. Full blood panel. Histamine. Zonulin.
Lo and behold - histamine twice the range (while im on Ketotifen again). Zonulin 25x.
I figure it must be a food allergy and the histamine is causing all the problems. Im now a fucking internet doctor. But i know its bad to self diagnose and self treat. So i go to an allergologist. I tell him my stomach troubles and that i think its food allergies. He is unimpressed. "Go to a GI doctor he says. There are plenty of tests that can be done. Check enzymes, check for parasites, check for more stuff".
By now i have figured out the UK doctor has basically scammed me and is just milking me for money every month. He refuses another call. He refuses to rethink the diagnosys. He insists that its correct.
Ok. I start an elimination diet because i'm now a doctor. I suspect allergies. I suspect the Ketotifen fixed me the first time. Meanwhile i queue an appointment with doctor #17.
I go to the new doctor. By that time EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY SYMPTOMS IS GONE. I tell her my test results. I tell her i seem to be able to control the condition 100% by food. "You have enterities" she says. "But whats causing it?" i ask.
"I dont know. Here's some enterol and an anti-diarrhea med".
OK. Diet continues. Now enterol added. anti-diarrhea? Why? Whatever. Not taking it. I don't have it anymore.
Im now at the point where i can eat quite a selection of items. I sit down and think. What have i eaten basically every day of my life for the past 10 years? Pork. Its pork.
I eat some pork day 1.
Day 2 is a little bad. Eat some more.
Day 3 is quite bad. Eat some more. It might be a fluke.
Day 4 is back to all the symptoms. I schedule an appointment with doctor #17. I go. This is today.
I tell her my findings. I ask if it sounds correct. She says yes. It sounds like an allergy. But. But.
Why are you coming to me? Im a GI. Go to an allergologist. "But he sent me to you.". Crickets.
She proceeded to scold me for 20 fucking minutes for self diagnosing and asking treatment questions.
Sister. 17 of you failed. I killed my career, cut ties with my family, Lost 100k+ in salaries. Lost untold amounts in options packages that i now woun't get because i'm no longer a manager. I no longer have friends. I almost separated with my wife. I could have retired at 40. I lost 2 years of my life. All of that because of your lot's wrong diagnoses.
And i get scolded for 20 minutes. For self diagnosing. CORRECTLY. Fuck this country and its healthcare man.

I think we are witnessing some version of this strategy:

1. Apes were buying lots of shares leading up to GME earnings. What did Ryan invest in, etc. This created massive FTDs that would need to be covered in 35 days by the market makers.
   
2. Earnings were good but no investments/mergers etc so the bad guys continue to beat down the stock. But at $10ish dollars, it becomes extremely attractive to set up a massive options ramp for most of May.
   
3. And I think it is becoming clear DFV did exactly that. And last week he exercised those in the money calls creating massive pressure for shares going into this week.
   
4. We all witnessed the move in price this week. The fear of DFV exercising again created a need to delta/gamma hedge. This caused more options to be created., massive MSM hit pieces, etc. All the while DFV is tweeting every 15 to 30 minutes.
   
5. Enter the Kansas City Shuffle. The bad guys expect him to exercise the in the money calls, but he doesn’t do that. He closes out the positions and does the unthinkable - He acquires the puts.
   
6. Why would he do this? Because he knows the slogs will do everything in their power to try and push the stock price closer to max pain (which started the week at $12.50 and is now closer to $16).
   
7. DFV profits on the way up and also on the way down as he closes out these puts before buying and EXERCISING in the money calls late Friday when options look like they will close out of the money.
   
8. Massive shares owed going into next week which now causes the squeeze. For shits and giggles DFV posts his updated GME position after the bell on Friday and it breaks the internet.

Here was my first post looking at the potential from a 30K foot level:
So as I mentioned in my first post, my brain was racing last night as I really began analyzing what Toy said in his LI post yesterday. I started looking at what the potential could really look like if Clover Health became a hybrid Insurance/Healthcare + Software/Technology company and was able to monetize the tech side of it more effectively.
Valuations are significantly more robust in tech for good reason- they're predictable with much more linear revenue model.
Brief history of software licensing- SaaS stands for Software as a Service and has revolutionized the way software has been managed since the early to mid 2000s. Prior to ~2004ish, for consumers you had what was called perpetual software licensing that was installed by the buyer and was licensed to use in perpetuity, never again seeing any fees. You also had VERY expensive (mainly for larger corporations) on-premise software, allowing companies much more control and security over their software instances, but with heavy infrastructure costs capital investments (servers, etc).
So what software vendors did was release new updates every year or so, trying to entice users that they needed the new version (think Windows 4.0 and Windows 95, 98, etc, if you really want to throw it back) and kind of similar to iPhones now a days, many people will skip 2-3 generations before buying new.
However, many consumers opted to skip multiple versions in order to save some money, until theirs became so obsolete, they had to. It was much more unpredictable to forecast for wall st. There were also massive amounts of piracy around the world (China specifically) costing many of these companies literally billions in revenue each year that was difficult to prevent or stop. Enter drastically higher Internet speeds and the much improved infrastructure requirements needed for SaaS circa 2003-2005.
I worked for a startup company on the cutting edge of SaaS around 2007 that was acquired by Adobe specifically because we were very good at our SaaS model, and Adobe wanted to figure out how to switch their Creative products over to a SaaS model.
After the acquisition, during one of the first few all hands meetings, Adobe's CEO expressed how excited he was to learn from us during their transition of their licensing model and how big of an issue licensing fraud/piracy was and how switching to SaaS would likely fixt that. When we were acquired ~2010, Adobe's stock price was something like $14 a share from what I remember following the acquisition, and hit nearly $700 roughly in 2021, roughly 8 or so years after making the transition off of perpetual licenses. I had thousands of RSUs and it was a fun run, though it's been some time since I've worked there.
The reason why SaaS is great (for a consumer), is because there are never any updates to buy, companies manage all of that now and push updates on a regular bases, but instead of a one-time purchase, you pay on an ongoing basis for your "seat" every month.
Some of the largest SaaS vendors are companies like Salesforce, Adobe, Autodesk, Oracle, SAP. They way they scale is by number of employees within a company logging in to their CRM or one of their many other services.
For example a small company with say, 200 employees has 25 seats (aka, 25 different people) can log in and they may be paying $100 per seat, per month. However a company with 10K employees and 1000 users may only be paying $25 per seat... these are all arbitrary figures, but show how it scales.
Adobe, on the other hand may have a single product for $50 a month, or their entire creative bundle for $100 per person. College or HS students may get it for much cheaper like $25 a month.
You also have up front implementation fees that can be in the tens of thousands or even millions of dollars depending on the size of the org.
Anyway, I've gotten much deeper into the details than I anticipated when I sat down and started typing, but I've been trying to figure out how Clover's model would work, i.e., who are they selling to and how?
Ultimately, it's the insurance providers that are looking to reduce their MCR rates, so they have to play a role in all of this, but you also have a ton of doctors that are on the front lines needed to make all the data work.
I'm sure Andrew knows exactly how they want to go to market, but if I had to guess, they would sell some sort of access license to the large insurers (United, Humana, etc) and then there would be a second component pricing out these "seats" or "lives under management" is probably how it would translate in the healthcare field, to the doctors. Doctors that are then rewarded with some sort of kickback if the insurers see they're using is properly, costs are decreasing or something like that.
This is where it get's a little fuzzy for me and I'd love to hear Toy's next update on how they plan to go to market.
In terms of TAM, I read that there are somewhere in the range of (edit:) ~60M for ALL of Medicare w/ 30-35M being Medicare Advantage actively enrolled currently in the US.
UnitedHealthcare, alone, accounts for 29% of all Medicare Advantage enrollment in 2023, or 8.9 million enrollees. Together, UnitedHealthcare and Humana account for nearly half (47%) of all Medicare Advantage enrollees nationwide. By comparison, CLOV has just shy of 80K enrollees mainly in NJ, some in GA and fewer in SC, TX and Philly area of PA. That's it.
So if, CLOV could tap into these markets that United and Humana (and Cigna and Centene etc) are already established, show them the proven savings benefits Clover Assistant can provide, it could get real interesting, as long as they don't fumble the GTM.
Now people are asking, well, why doesn't a United, with close to $400B in Rev per year just buy a tiny little company like Clover Health (~$500M market cap)... well, it's because I don't believe they can, because Vivek has 120M Class B shares with 10x voting power, meaning he has 1.2B votes vs. the remaining float which is roughly 375M Class A, w/ 1 vote each, if Im not mistaken. Meaning, only if Vivek wants to sell, will they ever sell. A hostile takeover cannot happen under his watch.
And if United and Humana and all the large players are struggling to keep costs under control, where they're talking about shrinking their footprints, but CLOV has an industry-leading MCR in the mid-70s. They will have to either build it themselves, acquire another company with a similar tech or will have to pay to get access to it, implement it all while CLOV will be a huge beneficiary.
This could get very interesting... I'll start working on a v3 follow up and dig into some potential numbers...
