2024.05.15 18:25 apeachinanorchard My thoughts on 10 fragrance samples from Etiket

Living in Eastern Canada, it's not as easy for us (as compared to our American neighbors) to get our hands on perfume samples without paying insane delivery prices. Etiket, based in Montreal, stocks niche/designer fragrances & has samples you can buy for almost every fragrance they sell, so I decided to bite the bullet. I haven't tried much from niche houses, only designer, so I was curious & wanted to try scents in the hopes of finding a possible signature fragrance. I bought 14 samples + the 3 extras Etiket give you (if you ask), but this review only includes 10 of them because I haven't tried everything yet and I also don't want this post to be a freakin novel. I'll probably do the rest in another post later.
About my tastes : I'm a fruity floral, gourmand & fresh type of person.
I made my list by houses (in alphabetical order) so here we go :
Carner Barcelona
Sal Y Limon - 5/10
Nice and fresh citrusy scent, very much beachy vibes, but the patchouli kicks the rest to the curb after 30 minutes. Note to myself : DNB anything with patchouli because that's all it's going to end up smelling like.
Giardini di Toscana
Blu Indaco - 8.5/10
This one had to grow on me because at first its musk felt way too masculine for me. I tried it first on a piece of cotton because of that, then when I came back to it after 1 or 2 hours, it had morphed into something nice and sweet. Tried it on skin and this time I found the musk way less intense. I'm getting almond, vanilla, clean laundry notes. The pepper is also coming through and stops Blu Indaco from becoming nauseating. I like this but I'm not sure if I'd commit to a full bottle, however I'll probably try to get my hands on a travel size.
Jorum Studio
Phloem - ??? / 10
Captivated as soon as I open the vial. First note I catch is amber and it’s an amber that reminds me of Stella Peony by Stella McCartney’s base notes. Then, words that come to mind are pungent, salty and fresh. There’s a slight musk. I’m getting overripe passionfruit & petrichor, with something sour too.
10 minutes post first pray : I’m definitely understanding why some compare Phloem to women’s scent down there, because what I’m smelling definitely reminds me of the female genitalia, minus the animalistic notes of sex. There’s also powdery notes. Clean sweat. This is such a fascinating fragrance.
2h post spray : Anddddd this is where I got disappointed. Phloem turned into something woody and utterly disgusting, I can't even put my finger on what it is but I ended up scrubbing my wrists with rubbing alcohol bc it was giving me an headache.
A very interesting experiment but ultimately the base notes ruined it for me.
Healing Berry - 6.5/10
This is a bucketful of red and dark berries with something that's definitely tannic in essence, reminding me of wine. The blackcurrant and the raspberry shine in this. Strong sangria vibes. It smells very good, it's sweet without being nauseating, it works well on my skin, but for $105 USD / $140 CAD I am absolutely sure that I can find a dupe that's not nearly as expensive.
L'Artisan Parfumeur
Couleur Vanille : 9.5/10
In the words of Lady Gaga, talented, brilliant, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique...This is a fall in love at first whiff fragrance for me. If vanilla grew in the sea, this is what it would smell like. It's iodine, it's sweet, the immortelle notes gives an edge to it, I don't even know where to begin describing this. I know it's supposed to represent Madagascar, but having wandered through small town streets in southern France near the Méditerranée, this is what it reminds me of. I ordered a full bottle.
À Fleur de Pêche - 7/10
I'm so so so disappointed the patchouli ended up drowning everything else, because the rest is gorgeous. Smells just like a peach orchard, this is not an artificial peach, this is fresh, herbaceous, sweet. I've learnt my lesson, I can't do patchouli in a perfume because it doesn't work at all with my skin.
Imaginary Authors
A Whiff of Wafflecone - 5.5/10
This is a well done gourmand, thing is, this doesn't remind me of an ice cream shop at all, this is 100% sugar shack (and I say this as a Canadian). It smells like what maple syrup tastes, if that makes any sense, and I get where the waffle cone title comes from, because there's definitely a hint of that. I'm just not a big fan of maple scent & it doesn't remind me of ice cream, which kind of seemed to be the goal, so that's why I knocked points off. For someone who likes this type of stuff, this would be a easy 6.5/10. Just not my thing.
Malin + Goetz
Strawberry - 7.5/10
I live in Quebec province, where fresh grown strawberries are available from mid-May to late-September. This smells just like our strawberry fields in June - it's green, it's herbaceous, there's a distinct note of well, fresh soil. Absolutely not your typical juicy strawberry smell. There's also some interesting notes like hay and clean wood that, for some reason unknown to me, reminds me of horses, without being animalistic. Freshly cleaned stables. I like this a lot but the staying power is weak and as such, I feel like this would do better in a soap or a candle than as a perfume.
Parfums de Marly
Oriana - 1.5/10
Oh man, what a disaster. The head notes are a perfect raspberry lemonade but not even 2 minutes after getting it on skin, an overwelming powder scent drowns EVERYTHING else and smells like old lady (bass boosted). The 1.5 is for the gorgeous head notes, otherwise this would be a 0/10.
Zoologist
Bee - 8/10
I love a well done honey scent and this is honey on crack. One of my favorite scents is Honey I Washed the Kids by Lush, which is very honey forward as well. If I had to compare the two, Bee is the raw material and HIWTK would be the end product, if that makes sense. This is truly like being inside a beehive, there is nothing artificial or dessert-like about this honey scent, its staying power is strong and there is something floral in the middle and base notes that is incredibly satisfying. I get some orange juice as well in the background. The white florals don't steal the show but rather compliment the overall scent. I can't stop smelling my wrist. However, I completely understand reviewers who said it's too much for them. I could see myself wearing this on a date, but not at a job interview.

2024.05.15 18:17 Sin-God What Does Your Jumper Like To Buy?

I'm not referring to builds & perks, I'm referring to your jumper's spending habits in-jump. I'm honestly just curious, because I tend to think of jumpers as real people and real people spend money on stuff.
It's pretty easy for the RIGHT kind of jumper to not need to spend money on anything. I have a jumper, Lucas, who if not for the stipulations of Generic Cubicle, could easily fuck off into the woods and never buy anything for the rest of the jump. He has Gamer Body & HP System from Generic Gamer so his bodily needs are non-existent (though he still needs to breathe), so if not for Generic Cubicle's whole deal he'd easily be able to vibe in nature and never spend another dollar. He will buy things, he only has the free tier of the apartment item so he needs to spruce it up.
What my jumpers tend to buy usually depends on how self-insert-y they are. My more self-insert jumpers (which tend to be my ones that begin their chains physically disabled), tend to buy one particular thing over and over (until they get it fiat-backed somehow): The House in Alfama (more specifically a copy of it that we just place elsewhere).
So The House in Aflama is a famous, though not purposefully so, liminal space house in Alfama Portugal. If you're a liminal space fan you've PROBABLY seen pictures of it. It's above and beyond my favorite house in the world, and is a pretty generic architectural project, a renovation of a much older building, by Matos Gameiro Arquitectos. I'll post a few pictures, including one of the more well-known ones down below.

It may shock you to learn that I have an affinity for water and water spaces. I spent several of my formative years in a house with a pool and it was very nice, and after I was a disabling car crash water being put on my knee was one of the few ways I could lower the passive pain I was in. So I like this house. I promise it IS a house, not just a big set of connected waterways, but the waterways HELP and my jumpers tend to quickly become aquatic so they always appreciate a good home that lets them flex their odder mobility things. I'm also JUST partial to European & South & Central American architecture, I was raised in South & Central America so the style of homes feels familiar to me.
My jumpers also tend to just like liminal areas. They tend to have mobility STUFF in general, be it teleportation or speed, or abilities just in the SPHERE of motion, so having spaces like that is good for them. It helps them relax. I've had jumpers who will sometimes buy abandoned malls and stuff and just hang out in them. They use some of the areas as stuff like homeless shelters or other such things, but they just love the vibe of abandoned malls and will relax in them like some sort of multiversal creepypasta character.
I also like diners and my jumpers tend to buy them when they have money they can just throw around. Oh and cabins, in woods. I usually just get a Cabin in the Woods item when my jumpers CAN, but that isn't always fast. My jumpers don't tend to value money very much, or even USE it all that often aside from in the context of the things I just mentioned.
What do your jumpers like to buy?

Fck nta, fck Delhi auto system, fck Google maps, fck examination centre, fck invigilators, who tf is Nta head I'm coming for your ass.
I wanna kill someone fr and this ain't no joke...so I live literally at the border area of Gzb-Delhi....my centre was somewhere in Surya nagar...so we asked this autowala how to reach their and they told us to go to the dilshad garden & take another convenience you'll end up at your location in 30 min, I was out from 1pm...then at Dilshad garden this E-rickshaw driver asked the full address and decided to take us their....after reaching vivek vihar ( this is were Google started fcking) he confessed he don't know where the centre is.(Yes fooled us for money) We were in the middle of the road & tried taking other rickshaws but nobody stopped, later gave up and started tracking the location and Google with the same driver, the map showed us some long ass route like any of you ever saw that Rapid metro pillars on the madan mohan malvia road which makes the U shape, shifts from left to right side ...so basically we were there, (sorry this was my first time ever seeing that place). So from the other route we came at our regular mohan nagar-vaishali road...and then the Google map took us to the mahagun metro mall, and some more right-left and we were very near to the centre(which I found out after reaching) but the map was showing 26 km. Mom just left the e-rickshaw there & we booked a cab.....you won't believe it but the radison blue of vaishali! The road goes from the back of the building literally there was the fcking examination centre and my Google map was still showing 26km. Reached the centre by 2:10 thanks to our cab driver, God bless him. 2024.05.15 16:52 Jon-Bones-Jones_ UNICEF/UNESCO Agents trying to get your money.

I've been seeing a lot of UNICEF /UNESCO people on roads, pvr, malls literally everywhere trying to sign you up.
The money they collect all go into their salaries and their management. Very sure most of the money you donate isnt reaching the needy.
These people are hired by a few small organization One such is Focus organization which I've seen in coimbatore.
Here is my experience. They once sent me an email for a walk in interview as a business associate in coimbatore.
When i arrived, it was a run down building and on the third floor there was a small room and a dirty, office chair where I saw many of the people working there was taking photos wearing a suit that was passed around.
After the interview they were boasting that they were working with American express, Mercedes etc and you can choose whatever they want.
Then they made us learn a script in Tamil by heart and practice it. Before that they played loud music and made people dance to bring them to ease.
After the script you have to repeat it back to the leaders and they correct you in how to adjust the tone to manipulate and get the sympathy of the people.
Then they make these new hires go with one of their guys into the streets and then started going into shops malls, even colleges and reiterate the script.
Most funny thing was that they were showing a list of names with performers and there was a guy with the last name Bajaj. The owner of this place Dandu Dinesh said that this guy is from the Bajaj family and has a ton of money, but wanted to do his own business so he came to work with their begging scam.
They still lie and hire people with fancy names like business associate and that after 2 years they'll help you start your own business and all.
At the time they were collecting money for SOS organization. But I'm sure a large chunks of the money collected is going into their own pockets as I contacted SOS directly and they confirmed that these guys are taking out huge commissions.
Focus management was the name of this scam organization.
Person acting as HR was Divya
Owner was some Dandu Dinesh.
I quit in the same day and was pissed off. This Dandu even had the nerve to tell me if I'm looking for other jobs, he had contacts with AMEX and all and that he can refer me.
They are scammers. They make money in the name of charity. Nothing less that frauds.
Oh and one more thing. Majority of the staff I saw there were females. I think they're using females to manipulate guys into paying as I myself signed up for this subscription an year later in kerala without knowing it was them. A girl called me and sounded genuine. Said that she was working and is volunteering for the NGO.
I heard that they were looking to expand this thing to every city and later heard that they moved to kerala as well.
From another post in Bengaluru sub, i got to know that it was again Focus organization that is behind this as well.
If you see more two or more approaching you as a group, it means there is a leader in that pack who's training the noobs with him. That's how it goes. They sent out these people under the supervision of an experienced person to make sure that they don't message up their script.
SO BEWARE. AVOID THESE SCAMSTERS. DONATE TO A CHARITY YOU KNOW VERY WELL AND NOT VIA THESE AGENTS.

2024.05.15 16:48 46316824 Some questions about the rent(ON)(Canada)

I moved to Ottawa in October and share a three-bedroom apartment with two other people. During this time, L and I, my roommate, gave our rent to Z, who in turn gave our rent to the real landlord.
In March of this year, Z is leaving. After some discussion he handed over the role of middle landlord to me and found a new roommate whom we'll call J.
To be honest, I'm not very happy with J. Because he often smokes indoors. I could have put up with it if he smoked on the balcony or in the toilet because there was an extraction fan in the toilet. I discussed it with him, and J agreed not to smoke outside the bathroom or balcony, but he never did.
In March, I wanted to sign a contract with J and add his name to our contract with the landlord, but he refused. I asked several times, and J's answer was always the same: he didn't want to sign the contract or add his name.
Everything was going well until last week. Last week J told me that he was going away for four months and wanted me to help him pay his rent for four months. His belongings will remain in his room. After September, he will return to Canada and continue to live here, while paying back the money he owes me. It's impossible, first of all I don't have that much money; Secondly, to be honest, we are not very familiar with each other, and these days we may only speak a word a week.
And he told me too late. He only told me he was leaving two weeks in advance. The only solution I could think of was to let his room out for a short time so I didn't have to pay for two people.
Our apartment is near the campus, but the number of students who need a house at this time of summer vacation is undoubtedly very small.
He told me that in order to relieve my financial pressure, he would transfer all the Canadian dollars in his account to me before he left. I asked him how much money he had in his account and he told me he had $102 left. I feel like I could remember that number forever.
He's making a fool of me. His rent is $850 a month, which doesn't even cover a bathtub. I will never forget his humiliation of my intelligence.
I really have to tell you, the apartment I'm living in right now is amazing. It is only 5 minutes' walk from our school and cheaper than the school dormitory. If possible, I really hope to live here until graduation.
But just last week, my other roommate, L, told me that he also plans to leave in June, but he doesn't plan to come back.
Since J claimed that he would return to live here in October, I asked him again whether he would add his name and signature to the contract between us and the landlord. J still refused.
I had to make a decision: break my contract with my landlord and leave in June. I can't find a roommate to share the rent, and the rent of $2,300 a month is a heavy burden for me.
Since L and I are the only names in the contract with the landlord, we submitted the application together, and the landlord agreed to our request to move out in advance.

So far I have found a place to go in June, when my contract with my landlord will end. At that point I would empty out my furniture, and J's would still be in his room. My guess is the landlord throws them away.
I don't have any contract with J at the moment and he has left Canada. I want to know if what I'm doing is legal.

2024.05.15 15:31 ImM3llow 26 [M4F] East Coast / Anywhere. I just got diagnosed as your boyfriend. Yeah no they said it's terminal we have to stay together forever until i die🤷‍♂️

Edit: DO NOT message me a simple hi or hello, with no information about you, Put some effort in to your message like i have, come on. Day+Attempt#189
Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to read, I know its long, I know - I know. But its worth the read, Trust me. I appreciate you immensely.
Here's a bit about me,
My name is Jay, I live on the East coast of the US. I'm looking for love - like everyone else on here.., but you may not believe or even be doubtful that I've never had a GF before with me being 26, but its true. I'm simply just not willing to "be with" just anyone and I'm very picky. I want us to be a match, more than just have similar things in common.
One thing I have always been told is that I'm a "Real Catch, I'd be extremely lucky to have someone like you" - WELL THEN TAKE ME. I'M FREE. LOL.
About me:
Physically -
~I'm a semi-tall guy, around 5'10.
~I'm thin but muscular.
~I have dirty blonde/ brown hair.
~Changing colored eyes.
~A voice nice enough to melt all your safeguards and get right into your heart and weak spots.
~I do not have any tattoos or piercings. Though I would like to get some eventually.
If you'd like to see a picture of me just ask and I'll show you - IF I may see you as well, I simply just don't want a picture of me out there for anyone to see.
-If there's anything else you'd like to know just ask.
Otherwise -
~I do have 3 pet bunnies I would be more than happy to show you, they are extremely cute.
~I'm a very honest and down to earth guy.
~I'm very patient and easy going.
~I'm very curious and inquisitive. I will try to ask everything I can to learn all about you haha.
~I'm Very VERY Kind & Caring, I will probably ask how you are feeling a bajillion times a day, simply out of care for you.
~I can get pretty clingy, and will always want your attention and to be talking with you. If i have someone im interested in i wont want to talk to anyone else🤷‍♂️
~I'm very trustworthy - you can confide in me, and entrust your deepest secrets and I wont tell a soul.
~I'm a HUGE hopeless romantic, im old fashioned and will always try to impress you.
- I'm, a BIG softie even though I may look a smol bit intimidating, but I'd do just about anything to see you smile or laugh. And yes.., I do mean anything.
~I'm a big goof - I will get up to some silly shenanigans ALL the time, I will crack dumb jokes and send you memes and tik toks just to make you happy, even if its from across the room I'd wait to see your reaction lol.
~I'm extremely loyal, and would never even think of cheating.
~I will cook for you, and clean up too, even around the house, I'm very self productive and don't ask for much. Just don't forget to kiss the cook.
~I'd also love to just cuddle up and watch a movie or read a book together, anything to get us closer. Id try to take you out on dates whenever possible haha. I have a million SUPER romantic date ideas I have but have never had anyone interested enough in me to take out. Here's your chance ;)
~I will always want to share stuff I find interesting with you, and try to share every moment of every day with you. I'm not looking for someone who can only talk for a small amount of time, I want someone who's willing to put in all the effort I put into them back into me, it goes both ways. If I'm "with" someone you are my TOP priority nobody and nothing else would be. You would be the only person I'd truly want to talk to, so rest assured I would NEVER cheat, even more so because no one is interested in me - Hence why I'm here hahaha.
I'm sure there is more to me than this snippet but I cant think of more at the moment haha, so get to know me and find out more about me.
Some of my interests are: Engineering- I'm a nerd. I admit it. I love being technical and hands on, I love building things. All kinds of things, from furniture, machinery, and reverse engineering anything I find. I love learning how things work and trying to improve things.
Music - I prefer music with a very fast pace, or with some very meaningful lyrics I can relate to. I love to sing along to music and songs that have a deep meaning behind it I can sympathize with makes it all the better. Some bands I like are: Bad Omens, Beartooth, Demon Hunter, MIW, I9K - The list goes on. I'm a bit of a metalhead unfortunately.
TV Shows & Movies - I love watching shows, and I'd love to stream some shows and have some E-dates with you, to get to know you, or if you are close to me, maybe we could do it in person. Some shows I like or more of the Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Comedy, Action, stuff like: National Treasure, Halo, BattleBots, Rick and Morty, AHS, Anything Marvel or DC, The Witcher, Wednesday, The Sandman, The Magicians, The Umbrella Academy, ETC.
Gaming - Yes yes I know, Basic guy likes basic stuff. But gaming has been a thing for me since forever. I know most of you wont care or want to hear that, but I'll leave out the specifics on this part unless you are interested in that, MEGA Bonus points if you are.
Here's a lists of Cons to dating me-
~I'm not Ryan Reynolds. Disappointing, I know.
~I will fight you on what goes on pizza lol.
~I'm not rich.., Yet.
~I can't pronounce Worcestershire.
~I'm slightly forgetful, but with good reasoning.
~(Not really a con but- some might disagree) I still have ALL of my firsts, Do with that what you will c:
~I've got an endless pile of love and affection and no one to give it to! What a dilemma! Help me fix it?
Other than that I'll save the rest for a bit more of getting to know each other.
Here's a bit of what I'm looking in you:
~Preferably someone with lots of free time, and loves to chit chat. I'm seriously not interested in getting 1 message a day. Though I understand people get busy, I personally am not willing to try to learn about you and form something with 7 responses a week. Effort gets reciprocated and I appreciate the time you put in me.
~Physically: -I’m not personally attracted to anyone who’s “curvy/ chubby”, I apologize. Not a shallow thing, I just dont have the attraction chemical in my brain for that, I’m sorry. -If you’re shorter than me, thats a plus to me. -I love dimples, if you have those when you smile, bonus points 😊 - I’m not sure what else to put.., but as for nsfw wise find out😂
~I'm a sucker for a different accent other than American, and if you have an Posh English accent you have already won my heart.
~I'm also only really looking for someone within the ages of 18-35. I don't want anyone old enough to be my mom lol.
~I'd prefer (But not a must) people NOT on the other side of the world, as other time zones SUCK. I don't expect to find anyone who also has never had a boyfriend either, but that would be a real plus. I also don't mind a LDR, but I don't want that forever. But it gives us time to get to know each other.
But as for attributes I'm looking for in you:
~Someone who is above all else very very Loyal and would never cheat.
~Someone who is Honest, and will tell me the truth over a little white lie.
~Someone who is Kind & Caring, who'd constantly check on me, and accept me for who I am & help me improve day to day.
~Someone who is trustworthy, and I can count on to keep my secrets safe, or even just help me remember things.., I do tend to be somewhat forgetful.
~Someone who is very Patient and wants to see me succeed and will help me do so, just like I would help you. Even if its small day to day things, I would appreciate your company ANY time.
~I want a partner who is Affectionate, can reciprocate, and loves to snuggle and talk about their day, and what their interests are, and what makes them happy.
~Someone who can admit they get clingy or overprotective is a bonus.
~A partner with good communication is key, if something wrong we have to be able to talk about it.
~A partner who likes to game with me or at least watch me play would be a plus but not a requirement.
~Someone with a good sense of humor and like to joke around, I am a big goof after all and I love to joke around. Sending memes is always appreciated and good to cheer people up too!
~I'd prefer someone with the same music taste, but not a requirement, Plus if you wouldn't mind if I send you love songs occasionally that's a bonus, or sending me some back haha.
~Being willing to voice call is a must, Texting forever is not the way to go. I have to know what your voice is like haha, later on we can video call if you are comfortable with that. I prefer chatting on Discord because Reddit messages of any kind I'm sure you know are unreliable and sucky in general. So please send me your discord if you have one :)
~I would LOVE to see picture of your pets if you have any. Bonus points if it includes your beautiful self haha.
I'm sure there is more I'm looking for but I cant think of it right now haha, I will have to edit this when I think of it.
Please tell me about you as an opener! I told you a good bit about me, now its your turn haha.
Tell me some things like -
~What's your name?
~Where are you from?
~How old are you?
~What are your hobbies / interests?
~What about my post interested you?
~Where is my TV Remote?!
~Selfie? Pet pics?
~Hit me with your best joke or meme :)
~What's your favorite candy?
I'd LOVE to get to know you, and see where things go.
But yeah, I know it was long I'm sorry haha. Send me a message and lets get to know each other! :)

2024.05.15 10:44 Smashfield Other than spending caps that I don’t have, what is a good method of getting plans?

I’m pretty new, I’ve only been playing a week or two and I have recently just hit 50. I’m having a blast with a unoptimised pistol build and getting that all sorted is on my list but I have mainly been drawn to the base building. It’s so fun! But at the moment my camp is pretty bare bones and I was wondering what effective ways of getting furniture and other appliances would be without dropping thousands of caps at player vendors or the mall?
Thanks in advance - the community so far have been amazing so I’m holding hope that I will get some helpful advice. I know I could just google it but where’s the fun in that haha

2024.05.15 04:50 Madam_KayC [17/F] Are You Not a Degenerate! Let's chat!

Hello! I'm assuming if you are here you are probably not a degenerate (they just saw the [17/F] and spammed me), so let's be Friends! Bored out of my mind and would love to chat with some other people and pass the time.
A bit about me: Hi! My name is Roxanne. I like animals (alive and dead), cooking, woodworking, sewing, and interior design! Oh yeah, and did I mention dogs? I have two siblings myself (I know, boring information, do you want me to bore you with my school grades instead?). Random ass stuff I enjoy is collecting transformers (yes, the robots that turn into cars), mall window shopping, and go-kart racing.
I guess Ill mention that I am playing "Love Bites (So Do I)" by Halestorm on repeat, so if I don't respond immediately it's probably because I am jamming to part of the chorus (or likely intro to the third chorus).
Useless info just because I like adding it
Fav color: Pink, with Black being a close second
Fav animal: The Orange Breasted Falcon
Fav vehicle: either the Honda CBR 600 RR motorcycles or the 4-4-0 "American Type" steam locomotives
Favorite part of nature: Absolutely love canyons, it's like looking back in history
If you wish to chat then send a message, I would love to talk.

2024.05.15 04:22 Last_Canary_6622 Weird WWE Dreams I've Had

  1. Most recent was I had a nightmare about an alien invasion on Earth and the only reason I knew was because they showed up to Monday Night Raw and shot someone in the head. I then turned to the news to find out Earth had been attacked by aliens and the people they didn't kill, they changed their mental state and/or physical bodies and only a few people were immune. Some of the survivors included Damage CTRL and Naomi (who is black). Naomi had changed to pink hair and Asian. She also got the strength of the Hulk and was flipping over cars.
  2. Was in my hometown mall and I was in American Eagle looking for a Ric Flair robe. Couldn't find it so went to Great American Cookie in the food court where Brett Favre was working the register.
  3. Went to a chicken and waffles restaurant. Chris Benoit took my order and was working as a line cook. He was just giving me a death glare while he was making my food. It was like being in the room with a jungle cat.
  4. Seth Rollins had been taken hostage by a bunch of dudes dressed in black masks, black turtlenecks, and cargo pants. They were at an abandoned lumber yard in the woods. The camera panned away to Roman Reigns on top of a distant hill with a sniper rifle aiming...

2024.05.15 04:00 SorbetSerious6013 Come to the US for financial stability but don't lose your MENTAL STABILITY

I came to the US for a master's degree in Fall 2019. The timing was terrible. I spent 1.5 years in lockdown due to Covid and felt terrible. Then, from Q4 2022, I faced the fear of layoffs, H1B lottery, and H1B stamping, until I finally got laid off last month.
I wrote a post that went viral. thanks to everyone who reached out. I was devastated and each comment on that post helped me a lot. I'm still job searching with 44 days left in my grace period. I've been applying for jobs for a month without a single callback. No one is hiring someone with less experience(your resume isn't even viewed if u have < 5yoe). I do have debt, but it's against my property in India which I bought last year and I've convinced my family to sell it and clear my debt.
So, the grind from 2019 till now—from August 2019 to December 2021 for my master's, and from January 2022 to April 2024 at my job—has left me with a net worth of $50k after clearing my $60k education loan. I lived alone without room mate for 3 years(cost was high but I had terrible experience with room mates in univ, maybe due to the lockdown). I visited three states on a solo trip after starting my job, enjoyed week-long luxury vacations each time and savored my ME time. I never went on a vacation in India with my parents for 22 years(my only vacation was grandparents house, lol).
Living alone here, I learned to cook, assemble furniture, and fix things like the kitchen sink and plumbing skills I wouldn't have learned in India. Despite the sadness of losing my independent life, I'm slowly coming to terms with reality. It seems a blessing in disguise sometimes because it's better if I return to India, as my mental health is deteriorating, possibly due to loneliness or depression. I feel there is a void in my life and i just cant explain it.
I just wanted to post this for everyone who thinks everything is sorted in the US once you come here for a master's. I have seen many people who graduated last year and haven't found a job yet, they're working in local stores, hotels, and gas stations to clear their student loan. Not everyone who comes to the US from India lands a job at FAANG, that's a small number.
Youtubers and Instagrammers are misrepresenting reality every day for their likes, views(especially that guy, Parth, on Instagram). He paints a different picture of the US, hiding the immigration struggles and luring young minds from India.
A net worth of $50k after five years is pretty disappointing by Desi standards. I console myself that at least I'm not in $100k debt like others who haven't found a job yet after graduating. Please decide wisely about your future and finances. I feel I lost my late 20s chasing the American dream.
Physical health + Mental health + family >>>>>>>>>
Vent over. Bye
