2024.06.09 15:04 eugeneloza Many engine improvements on the road to next release: TCastleShape outlines, VS Code integration improvements, decide which viewport controls listener, packing to zip easier

As you can see from our increased frequency of news posts, we’re busy busy doing lots of things around the engine 🙂 The primary goal is to push engine 7.0-alpha.3 release out, with the bigger goal on the horizon to finally reach the mythical engine 7.0 release. And then of course do more things, planned after 7.0, like the web platform.
Remember that we’re listening for your feedback on our forum, Discord, GitHub issues, Reddit, Patreon and everywhere else we can.
And we appreciate if you can support us on Patreon — this is what ultimately allows us to commit more resources toward the engine!
So below, another bag of engine improvements “all across the board” — everyone may find something to enjoy below 🙂 They are all already available in latest engine downloads which are now snapshots, built from latest GitHub code.
  1. TCastleShape more functional: Outline, Filled and related properties undeprecated and implemented for triangles too.
  2. Our LSP server improvements (no more spamming with errors in case of include file without {%MainUnit xxx.pas}.
  3. VS Code extension improvements, in particular fixed behavior with bundled FPC on Linux.
  4. TCastleThirdPersonNavigation fixes and API documentation improvements to work better in case your avatar has non-standard orientation. Note that new navigation components are coming, as part of PR#533. But we are committed to maintaining TCastleThirdPersonNavigation for a few releases too — as migrating to new navigation components will not be an automated process, they present quite a bit different API.
  5. TCastleViewport.UpdateSoundListener added, to indicate which viewport controls sound listener. Esp. useful when you have multiple viewports.
  6. Tiled improvements — when when we have a tileset without image atlas (not yet supported, but at least gracefully ignored now).
  7. Projector example important fix (do not stretch the texture where it shouldn’t be).
  8. ApplicationData deprecated, and simplified (returns castle-data:... now). This also means that now FindFiles(ApplicationData('something'), false, \@FoundIndex, nil, [ffRecursive]);will work, also on Android. But also, compiling it will clearly encourage you to usecastle-data:/something` instead.
  9. Removed old deprecated physics components (TRigidBody, TCollider) as they could confuse new engine users, and there was now plenty of time to upgrade 🙂 See physics for description of our physics components.
  10. Packaging to zip is now more reliable: we no longer depend on external zip executable, on most platforms we will use built-in code that packages to zip.
  11. We now specify program name in DPR, to avoid Delphi IDE from breaking code when adding new units.

Disappointed to learn that most of our outfits don't carry over when under Polyjuice Potion...
I was wanting to see how my character might have looked if I went with the female option when I started so long ago, but it turns out that the majority of cosmetic items you get don't come with the female version.
The only ones that did were the spring outfit from an old season shop, Wheel outfits (but not the alts) and a couple of hats and wigs.
Notable things that didn't carry over were Abigail's scarf (in fact, all of the scarves), Shouren's Outfit/Hair and Astrid's Bag. Why the accessories are gendered makes little sense to me, especially the scarves.
Honestly, that sucks...

19 Rabbit edition
Went to a dealer to test drive this 19’ dsg rabbit edition yesterday. The car is pretty clean, lightly modded with an ie intake, bags, wheels, and some cosmetic bits. It’s sitting at 79k miles and they’re asking 23k for it.
The car has gotten recommended maintenance on time and it feels great. It’s a little higher mileage than I was looking for but that blue is killer. What do you guys think of the price? Fair? A little on the high side? Dealer is also throwing in stock suspension and wheels.

2024.06.09 10:50 reddit_judy How best to spread white-glaze at center of lollies?

I used a Colourworks mini-spatula, but it took quite awhile to spread the glaze evenly and well-roundedly. Is there any quicker and more professional method? BTW i used a zip-lock snack-size bag for squeezing the glaze in the center of each lolly prior to spreading.

2024.06.09 08:47 z_dracarys Using Itch.io as an alternative

Recently I've started using Mitch to try out indie games and here's what I've thought of so far

PROS

Initially, I found some really good stuff that are exclusive to the site like Executanks and Demonizer. Despite there being quite a lot of games, the extremely good ones are usually highly rated and come out fairly at the top. Unlike Playstore, they don't remove games because of policies and make decisions regarding what can and cannot run on your device. I found that reviews are a lot more telling of each game and people usually post videos of their gameplays for a better look. They're not as fake as Playstore reviews because the reviews are often from indie devs just saying what they like and didn't like when trying out each other's games. Also, sometimes defunct games from the market are still available on the site. Lastly, I don't really use emulators, but there are also zip files for indie games made for older handhelds that can also be played through emulators.

CONS

Currently, there are 64,846 entries tagged available for Android. While you can filter categories and input specific search details, it does kind of feel tedious sometimes. This is due to the site being one continuous scroll and sometimes it resets the page back to the top. I think they should at least add pages or filter based on older dates. Also, there are a lot of nsfw games. I don't want to go into further detail, but it does take up a lot of space. Best to just ignore them.
There are also a lot of dead games that are simply abandoned and just sitting there. The site is just a platform for developers to manage their own library of games, but if there was someone moderating and curating these it would be helpful. Not everything is fun or playable. Often, when you go deep enough, there's also a lot of unfinished games, prototypes, and stuff like this. Sometimes you end up finding something really fun in the sea of obscurity which leaves a lingering thought that there may be something cool you've yet to find. You just have to go deeper. Then it gets kind of addictive. Like the site is an eldritch horror mind controlling you to keep scrolling. Sometimes, you find a really neat looking game only to find out it stopped development and when you click the Playstore link, you find out it's been delisted since its launch in 2013 or 2019.
I also think that if a game has an external link to Playstore, you're better off downloading it there to save the game in your Playstore library.
Overall, it's not perfect, but it is a viable alternative. Here are some stuff I discovered through there that I think are worth checking out. I used Playstore links for the ones that had them available there. Also, these are a bunch of casual ones because I prefer those:

Home we rented was.....uncomfortableJun 9th 2024, 05:40, by DifferentOffice8
About 5 years ago my family and I had to move due to the house we were renting being sold.
We moved in and unpacked. Found used needles around the property as well as a hidden cupboard with multiple sets of scales and zip lock bags. Awesome - we've rented a drug house!
After a few weeks my wife asked if I had seen shadows moving around the house. Turns out we had both observed shadows out of the corner of our eye when doing chores. Didn'tthinkk much of it....to start with.
Then we had doors suddenly open or close. Usually at night - around 3am. Our bedroom door would open despite being properly closed. Our front door would also be found open in the morning despite being locked with a safety chain.
We only lived there for 60 days as each day became more difficult. We experienced being pushed or slapped, dishes falling off a bench and our dogs going crazy, barking at the hallway cupboard.
On our last day I was vacumming the house - or trying to. The vacuum kept getting unplugged. My wife ended up holding the plug in while I finished it. We started to load the car and had a few items sitting on the floor next to the front door. This included 2 part full water bottles. As we walked through the house doing a final inspection we heard the front door open yet again. As we stood there one of the water bottles fell over (had not reason to - no wind, nothing bumped it), then rolled out the door and across the patio, down the steps then looked like it was being kicked up the footpath to the front gate (up an incline).
We went to court to break the lease we had on that house based on not being advised about it being a drug house. The court granted our application for the release plus moving costs. During the hearing the estate agents also disclosed that a previous tenant had died of an overdose in the home prior to us moving in.
We never experienced anything like this in our new home.

2024.06.09 08:24 Chrisju22 Nearly arrested for “shoplifting” at Kohls when I was 14

Story time. I grew up less fortunate and family barely had enough money to put food on the table at the time. Hamburger helpers on the daily. I was a freshman in HS and had homecoming up. I already had a nicer shirt on hand but I wanted to smell good since I had never owned a cologne before. This is when I had the idea for my mom to take me to kohls to check out the samples. My mom stayed in the car.
I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to afford the cologne and was planning on spraying the sample bottle on a bunch of test papers. After spraying 1-2, I realized that the smell wasn’t gonna last for another week until my homecoming. So, I had the idea to spray some of the sample in a bag to take home. One problem- no bag with me. On the corner of my eye I saw a tiny clear zip lock with tiny girl lipsticks. I grab the tiny 4 inch bag, took the lipstick out and began spraying about 10 sprays.
I begin walking out with the bag in my pocket and I get stopped by security saying to take the bag out and come with him. I practically shit my pants thinking I was so in trouble. In their interrogation room, they say that if I don’t have a parent come, they will have me arrested. Mind you the entire time I am in there they kept asking me why I am a shoplifter. I have my mom come in and they basically tell her that I was shoplifting and that I will be permanently trespassed and that i am lucky to not be arrested. Fast forward 3 weeks, my mom gets a bill from kohls for $250 to pay.
All that say. FUCK Kohls.

2024.06.09 07:10 Kevadu How to fix Blue Protocol

I have been putting a lot of hours into Blue Protocol lately (JP version obviously) and it is a bit of an odd duck. The game is quite good in some ways. It looks gorgeous, runs well enough, combat is fun (especially after the 8 skill update), and the story and characters are actually pretty good. But it is also deeply flawed in many ways. And the more time I put into it the more I get irritated with its faults, which mostly relate to the god awful endgame loop. I do sincerely believe that even if it got released globally now, it would not be received well.
So I thought I would make a list of things that need fixing...in no particular order.
There's probably more I didn't think of but that's enough for now...

It finally happened. I upgraded my bike and got a compliment from a girl. Invited her to go for a ride sometime and now we're meeting up on Saturday. She doesnt have gear so was thinking I'd pick her up a helmet and some gloves from my gear guy tonight. Ive ridden with 200lb dudes on the back of my bike before so im not too worried about this ~130lb woman as a passenger.
Offered to take her down the coast or into the mountains as we live in socal and both are relatively closeby.
Any tips to not fuck this up or look like a douchebag would be much appreciated.
Edit: feminism
Edit 2: since so many of you keep asking, my gear guy is a psychotic rich boomer who buys big lots of last seasons gear on the cheap and then wholesales it on fb marketplace as a hobby. His garage is basically a gear store but everything is dirt cheap. Said he makes like $5 profit on everything he sells.
Edit 3: linking gear plug
Edit 4: currently 4am on Sunday, just got home, thank you all so god damn much

kaleyanklet: I’m a girl who has spent some time on the back of a bike. I feel like everyone has given you really great advice about safety, helmets, hot pipes, and leaning. One unexpected, thoughtful kind of thing would be to throw a bike brush in your bag for her hair. I’ve graduated from backpack to riding my own Harley, but my boyfriend still keeps a brush for me on his bike and it’s so nice to not have tangled messy hair for the entire day when we are out zipping around. I think this would be nice on a first date because she’ll probably be extra mindful of her appearance, I know I would be on a first date.
OOP: Re-reading all the comments before I depart and glad I saw this! Throwing a brush in my bag now.
Bright_Bee36: Let her know it's your first time, and you've only been with men
OOP: Lmao thanks for the chuckle 😂😂😂
ianmilham: For a first ride, keep things modest in your ambition. Nothing that takes a long time to get to, or turn around from, if she's not having a good time.
My speech I used to give to new passengers -
• I have no interest in you being uncomfortable or freaked out. Tap me on my leg if you want me to slow down, continuously tap me if you want me to stop right now.
• lean with me, if anything a little more if you want to see better. Don't lean less.
• Your feet stay on the pegs even when we stop. I'll tap you on the leg when its okay to put your feet down/get off.
• And yes, point out the hot bits.
Your goals, in order, should be:
  1. She has a good time
  2. She wants to see you again and likes you
...
...
  1. She learns about motorcycles

Update: June 2, 2024
Update: ATTRACTED A GIRL WITH MOTORCYCLE PLEASE HELP
Folks, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for sharing your wisdom. I definitely took a lot of the advice I was given and the date went excellent!
For context, I (a scared little boy) invited a girl out on a ride not really sure what precautions to take outside of basic safety considerations.
A metric fuckton of you beautiful people showed up and gave me so many good suggestions for it to go well and I cannot thank you enough.
I made sure to give her the safety briefing and tell her that her feeling safe and comfortable is my priority #1, she appreciated this. Rode as carefully and cautiously as humanly possible, she noticed and acknowledged this several times and at the end of the night she said she felt safer on my bike than she does in the car with her friends driving. Got her a helmet WITH comms, this was possibly the best decision as we were making conversation the entire time we were out. Ended up just doing a nice calm cruise down the coast.
Made sure to have a spare sweatshirt in addition to the jacket I brought for her, it got a little chilly and it was appreciated. Shoutout to the gal who suggested bringing a hairbrush, this also was appreciated.
Also addressing the top comment on the other post, I hit her with the "I've only been with men, this is my first time with a girl" line and she cracked up. Definitely a keeper for that. Also learned that a KLR650 at highways speeds is basically a hitachi wand with wheels.
Towards the end of the night we were on our way home and I pulled a move that I dont think anyone mentioned on the last post. We were on a straight stretch of highway and we had a quiet moment and it felt right so I reached down and held on to her thigh with my left hand. She was quiet for a second and then said "this is the hottest thing thats ever happened to me". Never felt like more of a stud in all my days.
At the end of the day she was down to ride for way longer than I expected and seemed to enjoy it a lot. A gentleman doesnt kiss and tell but im not much of a gentleman and we definitely did a little more than kiss. Meeting up next weekend to do it again! I love you all and stay safe!

2024.06.09 05:56 Abram367 Storage For Hero Cards?

I just purchased some CD clear sleeves that I used to put each of my hero cards in. I have over 100, so I need a place to store them now since they are bulky and no longer fit a plastic zip lock bag. What do y'all use or recommend?

2024.06.09 05:42 In-The-Cloud Can we retire the plastic gems as table decor?

Maybe it's just me, but I think the little clear plastic jewels that get strewn all over the tables are so tacky. Sometimes the decor is so classy with sea shells, venetian masks, cut citrus, pearls and flower arrangements. And then out comes the zip lock bag full of fake treasure like we're pirates counting our booty. I totally get that they have limited time to make something impressive looking, but there are just so many other ways to decorate a table that are more 7 star luxury than what a lot of the tables end up being. Am I missing something? I don't know why these little pieces of plastic make me so irrationally angry.

🔗Summit 180 Max SD Climbing Treestand for Hunting - Ultimate Spaciousness and Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/f211fswwqg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89643886390091ce61b29bef3c0f1cd7f11f716a
Over the past few months, I've had the pleasure of using the 180 Max SD Climbing Treestand by Summit while hunting in the great outdoors. Firstly, I must say that this treestand is incredibly spacious and comfortable. It can safely hold up to 350 pounds, including gear, without any issues. But more importantly, the design and build quality are top-notch.
One of the main highlights has been the Surround Seat, which is not only adjustable but also allows me to face the tree for added versatility. The seat frame and foot platform are generously sized, ensuring all-day sits are a breeze. However, one could be disappointed by the use of foam and polyester materials, which can be a bit less durable when compared to older stands.
Another pro of the 180 Max SD is its Quick Draw cable retention system, which has proven to be very useful. The inclusion of Dead Metal Sound-Deadening technology is an added bonus for quieter operation.
However, one minor con that I have discovered is the discomfort caused by the arm rests and rail cover design. These features require using zip ties to install, which can be a hassle and frustrating to manipulate in the field. I have found myself preferring the prior methods which utilized Velcro or three separate pieces for better ease of assembly.
Overall, the 180 Max SD Climbing Treestand has been a reliable companion during my hunting adventures. Its comfort, versatility, and safety features make it an impressive choice for any avid hunter. Sure, there have been a few minor hiccups, but the pros far outweigh the cons, and I'm looking forward to making many more memories with this treestand in the coming seasons.

🔗Quiet and Sturdy Aluminum Climbing Treestand for Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/b3fqw3mxqg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0168f20db1eadf09f2d361bfc039a46a4dd19215
The API Outdoors Alumni-Tech Magnum Climbing Treestand is a durable and roomy option for hunters who need extra space. Made of welded aluminum, it offers a quiet, stable, and sturdy climbing experience. The 21 x 27 top climbing section includes a padded climbing bar, armrests, and adjustable seat for ultimate comfort. The treestand comes with backpack straps and cinching straps, making it easy to transport. Additionally, it includes an accessory bag and a DVD from the Treestand Manufacturers Association.
One of the highlights of this treestand is the weight capacity of 350 pounds, providing a safe and sturdy experience for hunters of all sizes. However, the stand weighs 34 pounds, which can be more challenging to carry into the woods. Another minor issue is the presence of multiple straps and cinching points, which may require some time to adjust and set up properly.
Overall, the API Outdoors Alumni-Tech Magnum Climbing Treestand is a comfortable and secure option for hunters seeking a roomier, quieter, and more stable climbing experience. Although it is heavier and requires some adjustments during setup, its durability and added features make it a worthwhile investment for avid outdoorsmen and women.

🔗Lightweight Climbing Tree Stand for Ultimate Hunting Comfort

As someone who enjoys spending long days in the woods hunting, I recently gave the Ol' Man AlumaLite CTS Climber a try. This tree stand instantly stood out to me thanks to its lightweight and compact design, allowing for silent transportation through the forest. Once set up, it proved to be a sturdy and comfortable option, perfect for my hunting needs.
One of the standout features of this climber is its ComforTech mesh seat, which provides both comfort and support during those extended hunts. The adjustable foot straps made entering and exiting the stand a breeze, while the high-strength oval cables ensured stability and security while climbing.
However, despite these positive aspects, I did encounter one minor issue. While the stand was easy to set up, the included instructional DVD could have been more detailed, especially for those who may be new to using treestands.
Overall, the Ol' Man AlumaLite CTS Climber is an excellent choice for hunters seeking a lightweight, comfortable, and secure tree stand to use on their hunting adventures.

🔗Vulcan Climbing Stand with Backpack and Safety Features

https://preview.redd.it/s9duu05zqg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d56ff9a6d757d126f213c72a392f36992059f277
When I first tried out the Vulcan Climbing Stand, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. But after a few weeks of using it, I've gotta tell you, it's grown on me. Sure, it's not the lightest thing to carry around, but once you get it set up, it's stable as a rock. I love the wide foot platform – it makes me feel like I'm standing on solid ground even when I'm a few stories up in a tree.
The seat cushion is comfy enough, and I particularly appreciate the safety-lock cinch straps that keep the bottom half locked in place when I'm climbing. It makes the whole experience a lot more secure, especially when I'm hunting. And speaking of hunting, the built-in shooting rail is a nice touch too. I can get a nice, steady aim on my target without having to worry about my stand wobbling or moving.
Now, let's talk about a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the straps securing the seat could be a bit longer. When I got the stand, they were a bit tight around my legs, which made for an uncomfortable sit. And as for carrying it around, well, it's definitely not the lightest load I've ever had to carry. But, considering the trade-off for a stable, secure stand, I can live with the extra weight.
Overall, the Vulcan Climbing Stand has more pros than cons. It's a solid, reliable option for any hunter or tree enthusiast looking for a stable, comfortable stand. It might not be the lightest option around, but it's certainly worth the extra weight.

🔗Lightweight Supremacy Climbing Treestand with Padded Seat and Zero-Gravity Foot Platform

https://preview.redd.it/llovnhkzqg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d77674a1fddaf24a0f07988a4df9bacd9eb3a59
I've been using the API Outdoors Supreme Climbing Treestand for the past few weeks, and I have to say, it's a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, I love how lightweight it is. The aluminum construction and expanded metal grates make it incredibly easy to carry around, especially when I'm hiking through the woods.
The padded climbing seat bar is a great feature, allowing me to ascend trees comfortably without worrying about my back. The 20W x 12D zero-gravity seat is also quite comfortable, providing a perfect resting spot for my hunts. One of my favorite aspects is the 20W x 28D base of the Supremes foot platform - it's so sturdy and solid, providing a reliable footing when I want to stand up.
However, there are a few downsides to this treestand. Firstly, I've found it to be rather tippy when I'm climbing, especially if I'm carrying any extra gear with me. I've had to use ratchet straps to secure it to the tree, which is an extra step I'm not fond of.
Secondly, the base of the stand requires a strap that's difficult to attach, especially when I'm up in the tree. It's one more thing to consider and can make the setup process a bit more cumbersome. Another issue is that I've noticed the quality of the components has gone down in comparison to the older models.
In conclusion, the API Outdoors Supreme Climbing Treestand is a good option for those looking for a lightweight stand. However, it has a few drawbacks that can make it less than ideal for some users.

🔗Lightweight Climbing Tree Stand for Quiet and Comfortable Setup

https://preview.redd.it/nkxpdr50rg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9b7b8be7f226fd33ca5b5abce366dbbf44692dc
For a while now, I've been using the Alumi-Tech Bowhunter Climbing Treestand by API Outdoors for my hunting trips. As a bow hunter, I value stability and quiet setup, along with ultimate comfort. I must say, this stand has exceeded my expectations in almost every aspect.
The all-aluminum construction of the treestand is impressive, providing a lightweight yet sturdy frame that can handle the weight of a hunter. The quick-adjustable, power-gripping climbing chains make for a silent and solid setup, which is a crucial factor in bow hunting. The traction ridges on the platforms ensure a firm grip, giving hunters confidence in their footing even during more challenging climbs.
One of the features I appreciate most about this stand is the padded armrests. As someone who spends hours in the tree, the added comfort makes a huge difference. The inside climber dimension of 19W x 20D is perfect for providing ample room for a hunter to comfortably sit after a long ascent.
The downsides? Well, there are a couple. For instance, I find the stand to be a bit more cumbersome to pack together compared to some other models I've tried. Additionally, I haven't found it to be as adjustable as some of the competitors' designs, which could potentially lead to some difficulty in customizing the setup to your liking.
All in all, the API Outdoors Alumi-Tech Bowhunter Climbing Treestand is a solid choice, offering a combination of stability, comfort, and ease of use. While there are a few drawbacks, they haven't negatively impacted my overall experience with the product. In my opinion, it's definitely a stand worth considering for any bowhunter out there.

🔗Ultra Comfort 18' Ladder Tree Stand for Hunting Climbing

https://preview.redd.it/1u68pcr0rg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=047ce8a4cd86e0ad4db30383e252ab6f0cfd81f9
Recently, I had the opportunity to try the Guide Gear Ultra Comfort 18' Ladder Tree Stand while going on a hunting expedition. As a hunter, I was excited to test this product's durability and comfort during my trip.
Upon seeing the ladder, I was impressed by its steel construction, which instantly gave me confidence in its sturdiness. The stand has an adjustable, flip-up shooting rail, which is particularly useful for those who like to switch between sitting and standing positions during their hunt.
The stand's mesh seat was another feature that stood out to me. Not only did it conform to my body for exceptional comfort, but it also prevented me from feeling weighed down, even after hours of sitting. The padded shooting rail was equally comfortable and easy to adjust for a perfect fit.
The ladder tree stand also has a large foot platform with a fold-out footrest, making it easy to rest and maneuver during my hunt. However, I did notice that the weight capacity of the stand was only 300 lbs. , which might not be ideal for heavier hunters.
In terms of weight, the stand weighed 77 lbs. , making it relatively easy to transport and set up. The instructions were straightforward, and I managed to assemble it within an hour by myself.
Overall, my experience with the Guide Gear Ultra Comfort 18' Ladder Tree Stand was mostly positive. The stand's durability, comfort, and ease of use made it a reliable choice for my hunting expedition. While there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the weight capacity and the confusing instructions, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a comfortable and sturdy tree stand for their hunting needs.

🔗Comfortable Lightweight Climbing Treestand with Concealment Technology

https://preview.redd.it/37xuue61rg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4aceda25e2010d8e51e2c60051fc9cde951ecd94
I was thrilled to try out the Summit Titan SD climbing treestand, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The extra-long foot platform and spacious extended top section were perfect for my tall frame, providing ample room to maneuver while climbing and hunting. The dead metal technology ensured that I remained undetected, allowing me to focus on my hunt without worrying about disturbing any wildlife.
One feature that stood out to me was the rugged and lightweight aluminum construction. Although lightweight, the Titan SD never felt flimsy, and its durability made me feel confident in its ability to withstand the rigors of hunting. The comfortable padded seat, which adjusts up and down for both bow and gun hunting, was another highlight, making long hunts a breeze.
However, there were a few drawbacks to using the Titan SD. The zippers used to attach the padding were quite noisy and difficult to install, which was a bit of a letdown considering the otherwise high-quality build. Additionally, I found the climbing angle of the stirrups to be less than ideal, making it harder to climb and maintain balance while ascending the tree. Lastly, the back straps could be improved, as I worry about their elasticity wearing out over time.
Despite these minor issues, the Titan SD climbing treestand truly shines as a comfortable, sturdy, and quiet option for hunters. Its innovative features and user-friendly design make it an excellent choice for anyone seeking an exceptional hunting experience.

🔗Lightweight, Versatile, and Mossy Oak Camo: Summit Viper SD Climbing Treestand for Bow and Rifle Hunters

https://preview.redd.it/8enypzn1rg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=288b9a675724ecaaa33fdc61315197751c5a3acb
I recently tried out the Summit Viper SD Climbing Treestand for the first time and I have to admit, it was a game-changer compared to the traditional hunter's blind I used to rely on. Weighing in at just 20 pounds, the Viper SD is incredibly lightweight and easy to maneuver, making it perfect for my hunting on the go.
One of the standout features of the Viper SD is its padded arm rests, which made it incredibly comfortable to rest my elbows while waiting in the tree. I could easily sit for hours in this treestand without feeling the slightest bit of discomfort. The Foam seat style also added a lot of comfort during my hunting sessions.
However, like any product, it wasn't perfect. The Viper SD's attachment method, using a cable, felt a bit flimsy and less reliable than I would have preferred. My grip on the front bar felt a little uncertain at times and I could imagine it potentially slipping. But overall, I found this tree stand to be quite sturdy and secure once it was set up correctly.
The Viper SD's low weight and compactness made it incredibly portable, which is a significant advantage when it comes to hunting in different locations without having to lug around extra weight. I was also impressed by its adjustable seat height, allowing me to easily switch from seated to standing positions when needed.
One downside, though, was the noise it made when setting it up or taking it down. This might spook game nearby and I had to be mindful about moving around the Viper SD. Additionally, the nesting frame and backpacking feature added some extra steps to the overall process, making it more time-consuming than I'd prefer.
Despite these minor issues, I found the Summit Viper SD Climbing Treestand to be a reliable and comfortable option for all my hunting needs. It gave me the agility to move between different hunting spots without being restricted by the size and weight of traditional stands. Overall, it's a handy piece of equipment I'm glad I decided to invest in.

🔗Durable and Quiet Climbing Tree Stand for Field and Stream

https://preview.redd.it/vcua8m42rg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e4111240607f1f75c7247d41795ee4038096c71
I recently had the chance to use the Summit Viper Steel Climbing Stand during a hunting trip, and I must say, it was quite an experience. The stand itself is surprisingly lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry around, especially for those of us who have to hike long distances to reach our hunting spots. The QuickDraw Cable Retention System worked seamlessly, allowing me to securely attach my gun while climbing up the tree, giving me that extra peace of mind.
One of the standout features for me was the dead metal sound-deadening technology - it truly made a difference in minimizing the noise I made when moving around in the tree stand. This feature allowed me to get much closer to my game without startling them. Additionally, the harness and accessories included with the stand were a nice bonus, ensuring that I had everything I needed for a safe and comfortable hunting experience.
However, there were a couple of cons that I encountered. The first issue was with the carrying straps. While they were lightweight and easy to pack, they dug into my shoulders when I was carrying a heavier load. Although they were functional, I found it necessary to invest in a more comfortable and sturdy set of straps for my future hunting trips.
The second drawback for me was the weight rating of the stand. Although it was capable of supporting up to 300 lbs, it was significantly heavier than some of the other tree stands I've used in the past. This extra heft made it more challenging to carry and required additional effort when setting it up in my tree stand.
Overall, the Summit Viper Steel Climbing Stand offers excellent value for its price and provided a comfortable and practical hunting experience during my trip. Its lightweight design, quiet operation, and thoughtful accessories make it a great choice for those looking for an affordable and reliable tree stand for their hunting adventures.

I recently tried out the Ol' Man Multi-Vision Steel Climbing Tree Stand, and I must say, it's a game-changer in the world of hunting. The first thing that struck me was how lightweight and portable it was. This made carrying it through the woods a breeze. Another feature that I loved was the comfortable mesh seat. Despite spending long hours in the stand, I never felt uncomfortable or uneasy.
One of the things I appreciated the most about this tree stand was how versatile it was. Whether I was using it for gun or bow hunting, the stand easily accommodated my needs. The construction was top-notch and built to last. I felt safe and secure while using it, even in the most challenging weather conditions.
Now, onto the negative. I did face a few issues while using this tree stand. The first problem I encountered was set up. It took me a while to figure out the best configuration for my specific hunting needs. Additionally, at 4.2 stars, some users have reported that the stand isn't the most suitable for those on the heavier side, which might impact the overall comfort for those individuals.
Overall, I was quite satisfied with my experience using the Ol' Man Multi-Vision Steel Climbing Tree Stand. Its lightweight design and versatility make it a top contender for hunters seeking a reliable and comfortable tree stand.

2024.06.09 05:10 sultanabran Sleeping Bag Neck Pillow?

Ok - so I’m going on a carry-on trip BUT I have to take a sleeping bag with me.
I’ve got a super light, very compressible quilt and I’m ideally looking for some sort of lightweight stuff sack that can also double as a neck pillow when I pack the sleeping bag in it (the type that wraps around your neck). Hoping I can have this around my neck at the airport and avoid any further bag checks!
I’ve tried one of the ones from Amazon, but the full-length Zip doesn’t really work as it’s quite difficult to actually stuff it in … ideally it’s a long tube stuff sack, roughly 60cm long, 10cm wide.
Anyone know of anything or have done this?

2024.06.09 02:36 AssistantOk944 Freezing coffee beans

I ordered coffee beans online recently from a coffee roaster (they don't have a shop in the same city so I can't buy small bags once at a time) in seperate 300g bags (Different coffee bags to try different tastes). The order is almost 1.5 kilos and since I drink 2 coffees per day I need to keep the beans as fresh as possible for at least 40 days. I thought about freezing the beans in seperate air-tight bags (zip loc bags). But since the small coffee packages are already supposedly air-tight can I directly freeze the beans in their packages? I mean I would save on some aur-tight and at the same time avoid opening the bags and exposing the beans to oxygen.

I am planning on making homemade bagels on Sunday and I will be traveling so I will not have access to a freezer until Wednesday morning. Is there a way in which I can store the bagels ( zip lock bag or airtight container) so that they do not mold till Wednesday? I will be traveling on Monday so would it make sense to freeze the bagels through Sunday night.( in which case they will be at room temperature for the two following days. )
Edit: I’m carrying the bagels with me while traveling. I’ll be making them at home and then have to carry them over to a friend’s house.
