After the Sumeru arc ended, a lot of people (myself included) began to believe that the scene of Dottore burning Irminsul that was shown in A Winter Night's Lazzo was just metaphorical and represented the Tsaritsa's plans and/or the threat against Sumeru as a whole.
However, in March this year, Xiao Luohao (the chief editor for Genshin Impact) gave a talk at Fudan University and during this talk said that that wasn't a plot hole, but rather related to future content that had not yet come to pass. With this new information, we have to ask ourselves, why would Dottore or the Fatui wish to burn Irminsul?
I think that 4.7 gives us a couple hints.

1. It's All About "Fate"

The first thing I want to point out is that this WHOLE GAME is about fate, changing fate, being stuck with fate, etc... We've been getting hints of this from the beginning. In fact, "re-weaving fate" is the final step of our journey as the Traveler.

This isn't just the Traveler's goal, either. The fact that ALL major factions in the game are currently interested in changing fate seems to indicate that those who control fate control the world.
First, off, it seems that Celestia is the faction that currently controls fate. It's likely that the false sky and the constellations were part of the new "system" that was implemented by the Primordial One upon taking over Teyvat from the dragons.

We also know that only gods or extremely powerful beings seem capable of changing fate or escaping it.

Even then, there's only a slim chance, and as we can see from the events of the 4.2 AQ, not even an Archon can directly defy fate - it is still necessary to use "tricks" to get around it.
However, Pierro (and probably the Tsaritsa) doesn't seem to like that idea. I believe the "grand plan" of the Fatui is written out in the Mocking Mask, part of the Pale Flame set.

Yet the Abyss, too, wishes to get their hands on a way to control fate. This has been revealed by the "Loom of Fate" operation. The idea of the Loom of Fate was first introduced in "We Will be Reunited", and it was described as a "fate-weaving machine".
However, Dain wasn't completely sure what it could do or what it was for.

But it is the lore drop in 4.7's AQ that really helps bring this all together.

2. Fate & Ley Lines & Irminsul

After confronting Caribert, who is in possession of the Loom of Fate, he explains exactly what the Loom of Fate does and how it can be used.

This is confirmation that the Loom of Fate can "weave" Ley Lines; while the exact meaning of that is unclear. It also seems as though the Abyss twin also doesn't yet know how to utilize it.

That being said, it immediately struck me as odd that this so-called "fate-weaving machine" uses Ley Line manipulation as its primary function. As we know, Ley Lines are basically the roots of Irminsul, and they feed Irminsul with vast amounts of information and energy.
Yet Irminsul is supposed to record what has already happened. How could it change fate? Didn't Inversion of Genesis demonstrate that even changes to Irminsul's records were unable to change fate? After all, that's what Nicole showed up to tell us in the first place.
In truth, I am unsure. Perhaps there's a bigger connection between the sky (and thus the constellations and fate) and the Ley Lines (and thus Irminsul) that we don't yet fully understand. There are a few things that would suggest this, but it's a bit shaky.

There's also the visual and functional similarities between the "stars" that fell during the 1.1 Unreconciled Stars event and the Irminsul Fruit in the Energy Amplification Initiation event, as some others have pointed out in the past. I actually started going down a rabbit hole with this theory before 4.7 because of this and the above, but didn't feel confident enough to form a real theory until I did the new AQ.

It's also worth noting that both the constellation fragments and the Irminsul fruit fragments were both said to contain extremely highly concentrated elemental energy, and the item we use in the Energy Amplifier Initiation event is called a "Divining Disc".
Then again, these similarities might be purely coincidental. However, the Loom of Fate and Ley Line connection remains.

3. So Why Burn Irminsul?

We know that the Fatui are opposed to both the Abyss and Celestia.

The overarching goal is to "burn away the old world". This is told to us multiple times. Winter Night's Lazzo, The Polar Star, and the Shivada Jade Gemstone.

So, all other theories aside, we can safely assume that burning down Irminsul and the resulting destruction aligns with the Tsaritsa's goals as a whole. Whatever chaos that would cause in and of itself is hardly her concern, as long as the new world is pure.
But in light of the new information from 4.7, I think we can also theorize that burning Irminsul would interfere with the Abyss's ability to use the Loom of Fate to its full potential for whatever nefarious reasons they may or may not have. The Fatui would be interested in stopping both Celestia and the Abyss from having control, and if that's through fate, and the Ley Lines/Irminsul are one connection to fate and a tool that can be used to control fate, then yeah... They might want to burn it all down.
That being said, I have no idea if they'll actually physically burn it down. If so I hope Nahida is okay... lol. I also want to say that even though this task is associated with Dottore, I doubt that Dottore can or will wing it alone. I imagine this is an immense undertaking. It is also unclear if they CAN burn Irminsul, yet, or if they need the Pyro Gnosis or even all Gnoses to do so. We'll have to see. It's definitely end-game content, though.

Okay so my business involves a lot of legal posturing and often litigation mainly in regard to intellectual property. To cut straight to the point we retain about 5 different law firms all of which bill between 3k-10k a month. Around the holidays we started working with a new firm which was much more thorough, attentive, and responsive. We have been very pleased with all the work they have done, however all their great work has caused our biggest problem with over 100k in billing for December, January , and February. I don’t even know how we got in this position. When they first asked for a 30k retainer we assumed that would last us quite some time, literally at the end of the month it was completely ran through and in fact ran over by $7,000 which we owed in addition and then asked for another 30k retainer?!?! They achieved a settlement for us which we never saw a cent of as well and despite the constant retainers paid up front we somehow kept ending up owing massive amounts?! I remember at one point I had wired them additional retainer in advance and the very next day they were asking for more. It was just very odd and didn’t add up. I brought up these discrepancies multiple times to their accounting and managing partner. They would provide master statements etc but it is still very odd and very aggressive billing practice, it also didn’t help that we never received bills until a month after the fact which I think was intentionally done. We now owe 45k and I’ve asked the lawyer to take it down given the fact we’ve paid so much already. He has offered to take it down to 35k if we pay right now however that’s not a possibility. This one law firm has caused us financial hardship we’ve never seen or dealt with before we’ve had to severe relationships with all our other firms, and scalable to get back on our feet. Now the law firm is making payment demands which rubs me the wrong way because we ALWAYS paid in advance , now we’re having a bit of trouble and they can’t be patient? I honestly don’t understand the logic when the outstanding bill is nothing compared to the amount of business and $$ we bring as a whole. Are the profit margins thin.. are the billing requirements that strict.. are lawyers just that heartless.. I’m young and learning but I feel I’ve been taken advantage of. Any advice?

Hello everyone.
I'll expand on the title.
In games where combat is part of the core loop, coming from all the spectrum from narrative to simulationist, special measures are taken to handle multiple opponents attacking a single combatant in melee or the contrary. At the same time, in character creation/progression, when action economy is structured in a way that allows it, multiple attacks become an option.
From the top of my head I've seen people doing the following:

Attacker rolls once, deals damage to all engaged enemies, rolling damage for each. Suffers more severe consequences if a partial success is rolled. Unstructured action economy. (e.g. PBTA)
Attacker rolls for each attack, defender has usually a static value for defense, Damage is either rolled static or other variations (e.g. D&D/Savage Worlds).
Attacker simply has worst odds of succeeding unscathed against multiple opponents, depending on the fiction (e.g. FITD, some PBTA).
Attack and defense are opposed rolls, in a round you can either attack or defend. The defense roll is valid for all attacks against you in that round. (e.g. Call of Cthulhu, BRP), multiple attackers may gain a bonus.

I'll leave you some questions and I'll write what I do in my system:

What are some other example of handling multiple attacks and multiple opponents that you've seen/used?
What is in your opinion more elegant when combat is part of the core gameplay loop?
Do you miss the design space of multiple attacks for combat classes?

What I do in my system is the following:

Rolls are player facing, roll high vs DC with a bell curve and partial success.
One Action and one movement per round.
Semi-static weapon damage, 3 tiered, depending on the result of the roll (Weak/Strong/Critical)
No "attacks" parameter but a PC can trigger stunts by raising the targets Defense DC. You can attack multiple opponents by declaring a stunt.
The Brute (combat specialist archetype) has a special resource that can be spent among the others to replicate the roll result on multiple opponents, bypassing the increased difficulty for a stunt.
Defending against multiple opponents raises the DC by 1 per opponent past the first, via a "Surrounded" status that can prevent you from disengaging (no attacks of opportunity otherwise).
Partial success on attack can result in minor damage or penalties to attack/defense rolls if one chooses to push themselves for more damage.
Partial success on defense results in minor damage or penalties to further defense/attack rolls if one chooses to counterattack.

Hello there. I have a rather odd question, because the situation calls for it.
So I have my brother's and dad's Steam accounts in my Steam Family (the new beta feature).
My brother uses my dad's Steam account as his main, because my dad gave his PC to my brother and since then didn't play games much. But recently he got himself a Steam Deck, and now uses his account on it, but although it is possible for multiple people to use the same library simultaneously in Steam Families, it's impossible for 2 people to use the same library when they use the same account on two different devices.
Because of that my brother can's play Dead Cells when my dad plays something on the Steam Deck. But fortunately the kid has another account, which is also in my Steam Family.
TL:DR
Is this possible, and if so: How to do it?
I want to move the Dead Cells save that my brother uses to play the game shared from me, on his and dad's account. I want to move this save from their account to my brother's second, personal account. The problem is that both accounts use the same folder to play Dead Cells from, but I suppose the save files are stored separately for different accounts.
This might not be the right forum to ask such a specific question. I doubt anyone will know so I will also look somewhere else to ask this. Thanks in advance to whoever makes the effort of even reading this post which probably seems like senseless blabbering. And I would be very grateful if anyone came up with a solution here, although I doubt it's even possible.

He's an esteemed warrior, a battle-hardened man, and extremely devout to his father's cause. In battle, MC kills the young King Bof their enemy Kingdom. However, a little while after he returns home, King A/MC’s father dies and MC’s been framed with the murder. MC is taken prisoner by his jealous half-brother (who's made the elaborate scheme) and told that he's to be given to their enemy kingdom as a slave—amidst dozens of other slaves to be gifted to the enemy kingdom as "good will" while MC’s bastard half-brother ascends the throne and seeks to make peace.
✧ Your character (YC) is the brother of the fallen, young King B and now sole remaining heir to the enemy kingdom. Having now inherited the crown, YC ascends as King, and receives the shipment of slaves sent to him as a token of good faith in attempt to broker a peace deal (this could be to their disgust, or hold cultural significance). YC is, however, told that one particular slave has been explicitly sent as his gift (MC), and that refusal of such a slave would be to elicit further war. YC has no choice but to accept the slave…who just so happens to be the rightful Crown Prince (MC) and murderer of his brother. But does YC recognise his brother’s murderer? Does he recognise that the “slave” he’s been sent is the rightful King of the other kingdom?
✧ I'd love to explore starkly different cultures and the shock faced when MC is thrust into the unknown. I'd also love to develop political intrigue, espionage, and more. Besides, what better way is there to force these two unlikely characters together than the need for an ally?
✧ Perhaps YC is nearly assassinated, and recognises that MC has skills able to keep him safe. Similarly, perhaps MC knows that he'd have no chance to escape his servitude alive if the King is killed, and instead plots to escape while protecting the King, with the goal to return to his kingdom and kill his bastard half-brother as revenge.
✧ I imagine their relationship in public to be very stony, with examples of "ownership" in order to keep the court gossips from spreading rumours. Despite whatever intimacy they find behind closed doors (if at all), I imagine that they would have to participate in court theatrics and games so that no one questions their relationship. After all, I doubt the court nobles would take well to their new young King having feelings for his slave—as it’s one thing to own one, and another to actually care for them.
✧ If YC recognises MC, then I also imagine that, given MC killed YC’s brother, the previous King, in combat, that there would be some very hard feelings there. A potential reason for the hatred, on top of sheer bias as result of the two countries being long-term enemies. However, the hatred between people and the general scorn YC may feel would be enough for a sour relationship.
✧ I do, however, imagine that MC would be far more trouble behind closed doors. While in the public eye, he understands that his behaviour is a reflection upon YC and would likely result in severe punishment. So, he avoids it, even if he has to bite his cheek until it bleeds and participate in petty, little games. Behind closed doors, however, I imagine he is far more likely to try and push YC beyond his limit, the two perhaps even getting physical during a fight. If all this boils over into passion, then that’s the dream!
✧ I see there being no true “role” between either characters, as there’s a deeper power struggle occurring. While one holds possession of the other (MC being owned by YC), behind closed doors would be entirely different. Their relationship would be complex, dynamic, and forever changing. I’d much prefer for their roles to be just as fluid, and entirely dependent on the specific situation rather than pre-defined. In all actuality, I see both characters vying for dominance over the other, until they settle into intimacy and understanding.

I got married at 26 knowing I had endometriosis. TTC naturally for two years and never saw a BFP even after ablation of endo. In the process, discovered one fallopian tube was closed. My Ob Gyn said I would most likely need IVF but tried fertility drugs (clomid, trigger etc.) and no success. I skipped IUI and went straight to IVF. Joined WW and went from 220 to 180 lbs. exercised 5 days a week and tried to maintain a whole foods diet. VCU Health had a 6 IVF with ICSI package for roughly 20k. If you don't take home a baby after 6 rounds, you get a refund. This did not include meds and anesthesia. We purchased the package. There was a grant making meds $1500. After two rounds of IVF, the grant was lost and meds cost $4500 per round. Both rounds only produced 4-5 embryos. I had a fresh transfer and the embryos only grew to 5 days max. No success. The 3rd fresh transfer was during covid (2021) and only produced 3-4 embryos no more than 5 days old. No success. I got a therapist, quit WW and stopped going to the gym. I got a less stressful job than teaching, bought a house and gained weight (skyrocketed to 250 pounds). I took a break from IVF and ignored my biological clock. During the 4th round, I only produced two embryos; one was good and the other so so. The doctor recommended stopping until he remembered that I had a package. My mom was the one who reminded me that all it takes is 1 (and to eat pineapple 🤷‍♀️...what did I have to lose???). She and my husband had all of the faith that this was possible. I was emotionally and physically depleted and was preparing myself for five millionth BFN. I remember watching the episode of Young Sheldon when Sheldon had the awards party and no one showed. Sheldon cried because he realized at this point in life, he had no friends. At the end of the episode, it showed all of Sheldon's friends he'd have in the future on the Big Bang Theory. I cried because it gave me hope that one day, my circumstances would change, too. The next day, I went accompanied my father while he was buying a boat and I received a call. The clinic called and put me on speaker phone letting me know that my blood had hcg (43). I was pregnant for the first time in my life at 36 years old and bigger than I'd ever been. I was in shock and as I hold my son, I still am in shock.
Several things had to happen to help me get through this:

Support: I had to KNOW my husband would stay and love me whether we had kids or not. TTC/IVF is not sexy and can suck the romance out of a relationship. Make sure you have someone strong by your side to weather the storms, your emotions and the let down after failing TTC. My mom was my strength. Choose one BFF in your life who loves you unconditionally; for me, it was my mom. I would caution telling others about IVF while going through it. If they've never been through it, they just won't understand. An excellent therapist is a must. She helped me to focus on one day at a time and see the glass half full. Find the best IVF doctor you can and trust the process. Make sure you get along with and trust your doctor and the team.
Rest and Less Stress: Covid forced me to re-evaluate my life. I got a less stressful career, stepped down from the church praise team, ate whatever I wanted and just rested. I don't recommend gaining weight but I do recommend relaxing (no new weird diets, exercises or supplements that might put your body in shock before IVF). The IVF meds will do what they need to do. Just rest and do things to make yourself happy.
Have a financial plan. If you can find a package deal, it is wonderful. After accepting that we may never have kids, we were going to take the refund money and travel in Europe for a month. The money alone can destroy your relationship. Make sure you can handle this financially because it is brutal.
Growth: Make sure that you find a way to travel, go back to school, have fun, buy a house etc. If you put all of your time, effort and money into having a child and it never happens, you could suffer from massive depression. To prevent that, have a life outside of TTC.
Set boundaries: Tread carefully when telling people. Most ppl just don't understand if they've never been through this. They think your whining about silver spoon problems. I had to cancel affairs due to IVF and I had to take a step back from anything that caused me stress (family members, church obligations, babyshowers (sometimes), after school obligations etc. I've found that people at church especially don't know how to handle this. You can request prayer without telling people why.

I do want to point out that this dream isn’t necessarily very funny or weird, it’s kind of just odd…
So basically it all started with me standing in the middle of a field in what I assumed was the middle of nowhere. However I wasn’t alone, because there were multiple other people there, ranging from people my age to around Danny and Drew’s age. Both of my parents, my brother and my ex-English teacher was there for some reason. Oh yeah and Danny and Drew were there as well.
I think they were making a video (which I’d already seen even though it had ent been released?) and it was about a haunted house someone made for Danny and Drew, in which they sort of swore to curse them and ruin their lives or whatever.
For some reason none of the other people there reacted to their presence, despite being there because of the video. But being a fan of them I decided to go up and talk to them.
Drew was a bit strange and refused to take a photo with me until I asked “Can you take a photo with me?” Rather than “Can I take a photo with you?”, and Danny was even stranger since he left the second I approached them even though I was talking to both of them. Complete ignored me when I greeted him, turned around, and left with nothing but a stale smile on his face.
But it didn’t really bother me, I figured they were only joking, so I got my photo with Drew (which my English teacher helped take) but as I turn to look at Drew a wild Danny appeard! I wasn’t upset though, because I’m a fan of both of them and the picture turned out great. It did look a bit odd since Danny was standing a bit to the side, arms and legs completely straight, staring right into the camera while me and Drew stood closer together with our arms crossed.
We started talking a bit, I tried to make a few references but couldn’t remember anything, we watched a few kids scamming each other, Drew attacked me with a pencil as Danny just sat and watched, I told Drew I’d started watching Lost because of his video and then I had to leave.
I’d say it was a 10/10 meeting and it feels like this is how they normally react to meeting a fan. Was very disappointed when I woke up.
TLDR: I met Danny and Drew in a dream. Danny avoided me and Drew attacked me. No regrets.

for context i (F19) and my now ex boyfriend (M20) broke up about 8 months ago. my ex, let’s call him tony, broke up with me very abruptly after a 2 year relationship due to commitment issues and feeling the need to be more independent and kicked me out of his house without much more of an explanation. my best friend (F20), we’ll call her bella, and i have been friends since middle school and she’s only known tony since he and i started dating. We hung out the three of us on multiple occasions but as far as i’m aware they never hung out just the two of them. When the breakup happened, she didn’t want to choose sides and stayed friends with the both of us.. although she and i have not seen each other in at least 4 months and it seems every few days there’s a new story on social media of them hanging out. they have even gone on multiple weekend trips together which i find rather odd and i’ve started to wonder if it’s become more than just friendship. But she has denied this when asked. i slowly have stopped speaking to her although i have not confronted the situation, and feel like maybe i’m overreacting and reading into things… AITA?

Just considering the odds, after a while, regardless of if it's true or fair, someone has to have an issue and make someone look bad, which led to this question. Are their partners forced to sign NDAs? Idrk. I don't have an army of lawyers, do if there's like advice for regular people, I would appreciate it. I recently started noticing my roommate slowly putting up cameras in the shared areas of our apartment. Prior to moving in together, we had agreed not to have cameras only one of us could access in the shared spaces. He’s stuck to that for the last couple months, but I noticed a camera notification on his phone the other day. I went looking and found a camera hidden in a window facing outside. The window has stairs leading to the upstairs apartments in front of it and is off to the side so you have to look for it to notice it but it has a full view of the front porch area and some of the parking. Fast forward a few days and I notice another one in the living room. The position covers the entire inside of the apartment. I mentioned it and he said he had just put it down there while moving things and it wasn’t plugged up. After he left, I checked and it was plugged up. I said something again and he said he’d put it back in his room. This morning (a few days since mentioning it) I had an odd feeling and started looking around. He had taken the camera and hid it so that it still had a full view of the apartment but you would have to search for it to see. These cameras record video and audio. We kept cameras in our bedrooms but he would always shut my door if I left it open when I would leave even if the camera was off. However, if I shut his door, he would get mad and we’d argue over it. He wants cameras covering everything but only wants them accessible to him because he is cheating on his girlfriend and doesn’t want anybody having proof of it. One of the girls he cheats on her with had walked in my bedroom and was talking to me for a minute and he freaked out because she was somewhere that had a camera that I had access to. I don’t check my camera often. I keep it up because of the amount of people he has in the house that aren’t exactly trustworthy. I’m at work 9 hours during the day and he has people in and out during that time and up until 6/7 in the morning when he goes to bed. On the other hand, he is constantly watching his. Before he moved in with me, he lived with his family. He had put cameras up there too. He intentionally put them to where he could see everything inside and outside their house. I had a conversation with his grandma when he wasn’t there and he texted me after I left about the things we had talked about. This happened multiple times. Is this okay or should I say something? And if I do how do I bring this up? Should I keep unplugging them or just put my own up and see what happens? Any advice would be appreciated

Part of the long-term solution here is also to build better tools for players to learn better strategies. 27	Why isn't there a mechanic that incentives game time or time on app? As an active player, I am almost always ONLY waiting for builders and almost always with full storages (or close enough that there's zero point doing anything). It actually incentivizes me to play less or not at all. Why not a small builder boost per attack star earned (relative to league placement)? Eg. if you 3 star a base in Titan, you get a 10 minute builder boost or something. Seems counterintuitive to voluntarily limit play time and time on app. There should be some reward, even small, for wanting to play more.	Our timers are too long and we are working to bring them down. We agree too often active people get blocked with nothing to do by timers. But we also don't want those active players to run out of things to upgrade and are playing for. So we want to introduce more systems to the game that let us add more to do and play for. It'll take time to build those systems but as we have more of them our average timers will shrink. At the same time at Supercell we don't believe infinite play time is healthy for players in the long run either. So having timers and similar mechanics is needed somewhat. They mention it as something most definitely still with her. How could they not know it would be found in that dumpster? Did they at first decide to make this a runaway story?

I expected to have this posted very soon after my trip, but time got away from me! Even the prospect of writing this out is kind of daunting lol so props to all of you who post your trip reports (and I greedily read every word!). Whenever people say stuff like “this is so long, I don’t expect anyone to read this!” I’m always like “of course I’m going to read every word and love it!” But now I am the one telling you guys, this is very long and I can’t imagine who out there is going to read this lol
Thursday 5/16 - Travel Day
Flew to Naples where my friend lives. Plan was to stay two nights with her before we headed to Orlando for one “girls night” before my solo trip began.
Saturday 5/18 - Travel to Disney!
Left at 6:30am to drive to Orlando. It was her and her two girls (age 11 and 5). We had reservations for one night at Beach Club. We bounded as princesses (Tiana, Ariel, Aurora, Jasmine). We walked to Epcot at 11:30am and that short walk was INCREDIBLE. I can’t believe how close the park is!!! Beach Club is amazing for location alone! Here are the things we ate and experienced:
~~Toasted Pretzel Bread (Germany): 20/10 This was absolutely delicious and over the course of the week I think I ate it like 5-6 times lol
~~Raspberry Radler (Germany): same as above, LOVED
~~Harvested a Pearl (Japan): This was seriously THE BEST experience! We all got them put in necklaces. One of her daughters got a gray/blue pearl and it was gorgeous. Lots of attention when she showed mine bc it looked big and she kept moving it up the sizing plate. I ended up with an 8.5mm pearl! It was very exciting and lots of celebration by the workers and crowd. They said it was the largest of the day. Honestly, I recommend this to ANYONE. It was less expensive than I expected, $29 to harvest the pearl, then I think I spent $23 on a cage for it, and I chose to buy a necklace for it to wear right away and that was $26. I am 100% doing it again in September when I go back for my 40th birthday (and I told my hubby he is doing it too and will love it!)
~~Lemon Drop Shandy (The Citrus Blossom): 7/10 good! nothing exceptional, I liked the radler better
~~Cinnamon Roll Bites (Brunchcot): 6/10, I was so excited for these but they were just average. I think maybe if we had a batch that had more frosting it might have been better. They weren’t bad, just not outstanding. Loved the bacon crumbles though!
~~Guardians of the Galaxy: the only reason this is making it into the notes is bc of my Reliefband. I get motion sickness. I tried Guardians last fall (after 2 dramamine) and still had to sit for about an hour afterward to chill and not be sick. I decided to purchase a Reliefband (classic version, Amazon, $129) to try out this trip and see if it would work. I was very skeptical. But I am here to say it worked 1000000000%. I was so blown away. Absolutely ZERO feelings of motion sickness during or after the ride. Kept my eyes open the whole time (it’s the visual speed that usually gets me, screen rides get me too). I am not a big thrill ride person, so incidentally this time around I realized this isn’t the ride for me. I just don’t enjoy it that much, BUT the big deal is to find out that is my ride preference and has nothing to do with motion sickness. It was so liberating not having my motion sickness control me! Ooooo, also, I was absolutely ecstatic that I got the song I’ve always wanted!! Everybody Wants to Rule the World!
We left Epcot at 4pm and went back to the resort to check in. First of all, it’s so gorgeous there. The room was wonderful, the lobby is beautiful and smells amazing. I wish we had the money to always stay deluxe bc I get why people love deluxe resorts so much!
Dinner at Ale & Compass (Yacht Club): 7/10, again, food was decent but nothing exceptional. Actually the Parker House Rolls were 1000% worth the hype, I got the NY Strip Steak though, asked for medium rare and I think it was more medium and that ruined it a bit for me (also taste was just meh)
We spent about an hour and half swimming at Stormalong Bay after dinner. That pool is seriously incredible. I never want to experience anything but a sand bottom pool again. The. Absolute. Best.

Sunday 5/19 - Girls Leave and Solo Begins
We checked out and then had a Beaches and Cream reservation at 11:30am. We shared the Bacon Ranch Totchos (7/10 tasty but too much topping for me), Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup (grilled cheese 9/10, tomato soup 6/10), aaaaand the Kitchen Sink Sundae (9/10)! Was it smart for us to get this with only two adult women and two children? Probably not. But boy was it fun and delicious and we put way more of a dent in it than I thought we would lol. A little siren goes off in the restaurant when one is brought to a table and there is a back and forth with kitchen staff and customers (they say something about a “whole can of whipped cream” and customers answer back as a group) and it was a very fun vibe! In fact that is one of the reasons I rate it a 9/10 haha, bc I think there is just too much whipped cream and a lot of the ice cream is just buried.
We swam at Stormalong bay for 2 more hours before they dropped me off at All-Star Movies and they headed home to Naples.
Magic Kingdom (solo)
I got into my room at All-Star Movies (Love Bug building 6) and tbh I didn’t mind its distance to the bus stop, maybe bc it was just me, but I didn’t have a problem with it, I thought the walk was quick enough. I was in Magic Kingdom by 5:30pm.

9:45am It’s Tough to be a Bug - this was my first time, honestly, I think I have read articles and seen so many vlogs calling it startling and scary that I think I was expecting the worst so much that it wasn't….that….bad? I didn’t mind it? (side note: the ONLY time this entire trip that I wore tennis shoes was the morning of Animal Kingdom. My feet were hurting by the time I went into this show, so while it was going on I switched to my flip flops and my feet took a complete 180 degrees. I wore flip flops the rest of the trip and had zero issues with sore feet. I guess I’m just a flip flop girly???)
10:15am Feathered Friends in Flight - was actually heading to 11am Lion King but a CM I passed was announcing to people that the bird show was starting at 10:30 so I decided to detour there. It was great!
11:00am Maharajah Jungle Trek, walked for 20 mins, this was the most beautiful trail for me, absolutely lovely!
11:30am Eight Spoon Cafe - got the BBQ pork MacnCheese, found a spot to sit down by Drinkwallah and that is my go-to spot now. It is shaded and the carved tables and chairs are so pretty. I really like that little (hidden?) sit-down area!
12:00pm Discovery Trails, walked for 10 mins, then looked around shops in Discovery Island and Asia
12:50pm Rafiki’s Planet Watch (5 min) I did not get off the train, at this point I needed a break but I did not want to go back to resort, so I sat on the Wildlife Train and drank lots of water, I went around the circuit twice, got off at 1:30pm
1:45pm Festival of the Lion King, got in line for 2pm show, this was my first time…it BLEW MY MIND, absolutely loooooooved this. So so much. It was wonderful!
3:00pm Dinosaur (5 min) 15 min posted - first time! Honestly, I have heard so many disparaging comments about this ride I expected it to be terrifying, painful and just not fun. Again, I had an opposite experience! I love dinosaur movies (like Jurassic park) so I really enjoyed this one. I hope it is still there to ride when I am back in the fall!
3:30pm Nomad Lounge (added myself to waitlist on app, there was no “wait” got the text pretty much immediately) This was such an important break out of the heat. I spent an hour here to recharge. I drank a lot of water, had a delicious cocktail Lamu Libation 10/10, Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl 8/10, and Churros 10/10. I was able to charge my phone in an outlet at the bar. It was the perfect break!

If you don’t love coconut, I find it very mild, you should definitely give it a shot.

Plus I was able to Pixie Dust someone here! There was a young girl in line in front of me by herself, she was maybe 13? Anyway she was trying to scan her magic band for payment and the CM told her the band was not authorized to be used for payment, she seemed a bit surprised and embarrassed and I stepped in and started scanning my magic band. It was honestly only $6.50. She tried to tell me no and that she would go get her mom, but I just overrode her and said “It’s Disney! Let me!” with a smile. We were both at the window to pick up our items together and when she got hers she unexpectedly leaned in and gave me a hug and thanked me again. I was so surprised and heartwarmed (and also felt bad that I was kinda sweaty lol). But anyway it was a wonderful moment!

This was my toughest day of my whole solo trip for several reasons. 1) I don’t think I did enough sit down things, I was on my feet a ton 2) I was not being “park smart”. Epcot is huge enough in the first place but I was not navigating the park in an efficient way and ended up walking WAY more than I should have. Around 7:30-8pm I started to feel something pulled in my leg (after googling later maybe a mild issue with adductor tendon?) it was high up in my inner thigh, I decided to leave the park only 10 mins after Luminous started bc I really wanted to not push myself, the next day was going to be my Magic Kingdom day and that is my favorite park and would likely be a long day and I just didn’t want to ruin it.

Wednesday 5/22 - Hollywood Studios (not Magic Kingdom!)
Woke up before 7am and decided to pivot on my plans bc of my leg. I decided to stay in the resort room until midday to rest my leg, and due to that decision I switched my park day from MK to HS. I figured if I was going to be in a park for less hours of the day I would rather sacrifice time in Hollywood Studios than Magic Kingdom. I bought Genie+ and bought an ILL for Rise of the Resistance for 1:40pm. This ended up being THE BEST decision I could have made. By the time I left my room, my leg was feeling 100% better and I did not have any issues with it for the rest of the trip!

A++, this will always be one of my faves.

3:00pm Smuggler's Run (G+) - okaayyyyyy, I have never been on this (due to motion sickness fears) but I decided to take the plunge. I got all the way to sitting in the seat and tbh I was terrified. I was by myself, I didn’t know exactly what to expect and I was not so much scared that I would be sick, I was confident in the Reliefband, but I was worried I would hate the simulated feeling of flying. That kinda freaks me out. So then, the ride doesn’t actually start and they tell us that a CM will be in to let us out bc it has malfunctioned and we will be given a LL back. I was quite literally SO RELIEVED. I will try that ride, but in September when I am with my husband!

Everything else worked except for Finn.
8:45pm Ran my ass through Toy Story land (picked up an Adult Lemonade!) and hightailed it to Fantasmic! This ended up being a very good lesson for me. Getting to Fantasmic! just as it was starting was NOT a good idea. I was in the bleachers in the last section at the top, like with the walkway in front of you. You can hardly see anything back there. I will not make this mistake again. I left just as the floats started bc I could not even see them at all.

I go back and forth on whether G+ was worth it today. Ultimately, I side on yes bc I didn’t even get to the park until 1pm, got to walk the park a ton, I did the most photopass spots here than I did on any other day, so Genie+ allowing me to just hop on 3 rides with no wait gave me the time to do all of that (and watch Frozen twice and B&B show), and I had the time to wait for Runaway Railway standby again. Also, bc the Smugglers Run malfunction allowed me to use a “LL” on Rise again, that alone made it worth it!

Some people in line behind me were speculating if someone had puked on the ride bc of the workers going up. Not sure, doesn’t really matter, PeopleMover is the BEST at night!

Let me just say it is just as cool as everyone says it is! Also, they put me in row 8 again, grrrrr, is that the designated solo rider lane?
9:30pm TRON - I tried getting a boarding group at 7am and didn’t get in. So then my plan was to get in at 1pm but I totallyyyyyyy forgot about it and I remembered at 1:55pm and I was like “crap! I guess I will see if I can still buy an ILL”. I was about to do that and then I thought to myself, “maybe I should just see if the VQ is still open?” AND IT WAS! So I literally got a boarding group at 2pm, an hour after the VQ started, I was shocked and thrilled when I got one! Plus TRON is always so gorgeous at night. I actually have yet to ride it in the day lol And LISTEN, I get that most people prefer Guardians to TRON, I really do get it. BUT bc I am not that much of a thrill ride person, I like easier going coasters. I seriously love TRON so much. It is such a horizontal coaster that it’s like my ideal. You get the thrill from it being fast and a little dippy, but nothing crazy. It’s a fave for me!!!

Friday 5/24 - Bonus Day?!
This was supposed to be my travel day back home. My flight was set to leave at 5pm, but in the morning my husband told me about storms in the midwest and I got an email from the airline about “adverse weather conditions”, so I called and changed my flight to the next day at 7am. (It ended up being the right choice bc my original 5pm flight out of MCO was delayed multiple times until it was finally canceled at like 10:30pm) I was thankfully able to book another night at All-Star Movies and could stay in my same room. I quickly formed the plan to go back to Animal Kingdom to see Festival of the Lion King again bc I had enjoyed it so much earlier in the week and then go to EPCOT to finish the final 4 Spikes that I had not located yet for the scavenger hunt!

Best thing I ate hands-down all week. I wasn’t sure I would eat the slaw in the bowl but that was delicious, the creamy herb sauce was amazing and those little boba balls that add the citrus burst?!?! So so good. I have already altered our plans for September to include two meals here so I can get this bowl twice next time lol

Overall Thoughts
10/10 Amazing Trip. I found out about people going on solo trips here on reddit late last year and I was immediately certain I had to book one. While I can be a very social person, I am also a loner in the fact that I do enjoy spending time in my own company (not everybody does) so I knew a solo trip was right up my alley. It was everything I hoped for and more. I didn’t have to consult anyone else, I could do what I want, when I want. Also, (not to brag….shhhhhh…I’m not bragging I swear) but I am not a complainer. The heat usually doesn’t affect me too much, I have a good amount of endurance so I get tired of course but it takes a lot. I’m pretty unflappable because I’m just happy to BE AT Disney World. Others I’ve gone with are not like this so much lol so it was nice to just be in my own company in the sense that I was always in a positive mood and didn’t have anyone dimming that? If that makes sense?
Safety
I am a petite woman. I am 4’10” and 118lbs so I am very aware of my size in terms of my safety. I can honestly say though that I felt safe throughout the whole trip. The one time that I got off the bus at All-Star Sports at 10pm to go to the gift shop and then walked all the way to Movies, that did worry me a bit but only as I was walking through the parking lot sections.
And I did get the crap scared out of me at the resort due to the requirement of a “visual check”. I had not ever heard of this, but I was in my room for a midday break and I had a knock at my door by housekeeping. I thought it was odd bc I had my “room occupied” sign out the whole time bc I didn’t feel the need for housekeeping, it was just me in the room. I said “no thank you” and they knocked and announced housekeeping again. I said “no thank you” louder. (internally I was thinking, can they not hear me through the door????) and they did it again! I finally went closer to the door and I heard the person mumble something about a “visual check” and I very sternly and loudly said “no!” bc I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about. I peeked through the curtain at my window and watched the guy walk past holding a phone in his hand. I think he was wearing a uniform shirt but I couldn’t totally tell. I decided to call the resort in the event this was someone trying to pose as housekeeping staff. They ended up relieving my fears by telling me it was legitimate. Apparently, you have to have your room checked at some point in your stay (I was staying 5 nights) if you choose not to get housekeeping. He explained this has to do with the Pulse Nightclub shooting. I guess they had stockpiled guns in their hotel room and kept not letting housekeeping in. He explained that is why they do the visual check, for the safety of all resort guests. I was 100% supportive once he told me that and I felt bad for yelling at the guy. But also, I am a solo woman and I had no idea what the hell was going on, and to be completely frank, I had just showered so I was in a tshirt and underwear which made me feel even more vulnerable bc I was not fully dressed! I was not letting that person in my room. The guy on the phone totally understood that and apologized for alarming me. I told him to have the guy come back and do the visual check. I apologized to him when he came in. He was in my room for all of 10 seconds and that was it. But it was certainly a crazy ordeal!
Walking
I was doing 20-30k steps each day and other than hurting my leg on Tuesday I was honestly fine. I had shin splints too but again, they weren’t terrible and by Thursday they were gone. I brought tennis shoes and flip flops intending to switch on and off throughout the week in order to prevent my feet from getting sore but that never happened. I spent 3 hours in the shoes on Monday before my feet started hurting and I never wore them again. I had 2 different pairs of flip flops the whole time. I guess that is what my feet like!
Backpack vs Loungefly
I typically wear a normal size backpack to the parks, but also I can usually share wearing it with my husband. I didn’t really consider how hard it would be to wear a backpack alllllllll day long. And it wasn’t even heavy, I didn’t put much in it at all, but still it wore on my shoulders and made them sore. On Wednesday I ended up getting a Loungefly even though they have never really been my thing. It honestly ended up being perfect. It felt different on my shoulders and I wasn’t getting sore like I was with a regular size backpack.
Waiting in Lines
I have often read that one of the things that bothers solo travelers the most is waiting in lines by themselves bc it’s boring and they have no one to keep them company. I thought I might feel this way too but waiting in lines was not bad at all to me. It’s so easy to be on your phone that whole time. I was looking at my photopass photos, browsing reddit, and inputting trip notes. I felt like waiting in line was not a hardship for me as a solo traveler.
Photopasses
This trip exceeded my expectations with photopasses! The number of photos each photographer took and the variety of positions and magic shots was awesome. I am assuming part of that is because I was solo? I am not sure but I just felt like the quantity and time spent at each photopass location was better than normal. Special shout out to Hollywood Studios, that day in particular was just awesome. Every photographer was awesome, but especially the ones in Galaxy’s Edge. I was having such an amazing time getting them!

I have been married for 16 years and love my wife till death. I just don’t feel she feels the same or appreciates me.
In the beginning of our relationship my wife had a relationship with someone while dating me, I confronted her and she deny having a relationship with someone else. Later, I found out through her email that she was sending emotional messages to this person, eventually she admitted it was early in our relationship. I moved on from this, however she Kept lying about small things like she was in the hospital and she needed money. Later I found out she used to lied to asked me for money so she can provide her father. I moved on and forgave her.
About six months later, she moved to the U.S. and lived with my family. One day she disappear and didn't tell me where she was or answered her phone. This all happened when I was deployed in Iraq. I asked my dad to go see if she was at a friend's house, which she was. My father knock on the door and she came outside wearing men's short and a shirt. I questioned her why she didn't answer her phone and told me about her location. Her excuse was that she had a headache and went there for medicine. Which I didn't buy it.
throughout our marriage she continue to lie. This cause a sense of mistrusting her and insecurities in myself. On 2016 while I was deployed she developed a relationship with a co-worker. I found out that she was closely to this person by looking at phone records and noticing she had been talking to her co-worker at odd hours and multiple times daily. I confronted her and she deny it at first. Later she admitted she talked to him but there was nothing serious between both. when asked to see her texts messages she deleted all texts from her phone.
Two years later we moved and I deployed again, when I came back I noticed several conversations with other men that indicated she had been talking to them while I was gone, I did not find any evidence to indicate that she was having an affair but she always would hide talking to anyone while I was gone. I talked to her and told her that It bother when she talked to other guys outside of work matters. There were several other times where she would talked to men and would hide the fact that she was talking to them.
Back in 2021 I link her iCloud account to my computer without her noticing, during my monitoring I discover she was talking to guys she claimed were friends. I discovered a friend that was flirting with her and telling her how hot she was. He invited her to go out and she accepted, after seeing this I immediately confronted her and she deny being emotionally close to him. She immediately told the guy she was not ok with the relationship. She didn’t do this on her own will, it seemed as she did it just to please me. When this happened I was living in Maryland attending a military school and she was living in Georgia. I got fed up with the continuous issues and lies so I asked her for a divorce. She beg me not to get a divorce and even flew to Maryland to see me. Eventually I gave up and forgave her. However, I asked her to take a polygraph and an eye detection test to clear up all the years of lies. She agreed to take it and we both went to get the polygraph done. The polygraph examiner determine she was deceptive during the polygraph. This is the write up from the examiner:
The Investigator ran multiple charts. After completing all the charts, the Investigator scored the charts per national standards. Per national standards, exam results apply to the entire exam and not individual questions. Therefore, Subjects do not pass one question and/or fail another question. The Subject either passes the entire exam or fails the entire exam. Per national standards, the examiner does not give out individual results to individual questions, only the overall results to the entire exam. The overall polygraph results are a negative nine (-9). Deception Indicated (DI) due to Significant Responses (SR) to the relevant questions. The Subject did not pass her polygraph exam. EyeDetect RESULTS: The overall EyeDetect results are Not Credible (Deceptive). The Subject did not pass her EyeDetect exam. A separate report was provided by Converus outlining the EyeDetect exam that was conducted.
After she found she failed she started making excuses why she failed and swore she never cheated on me. I know I keep failing In the same trap, she makes a mistake and I forgive her.
On Wednesday she traveled to Brussels with a coworker. She asked me if I was ok with her going out to site seeing and getting dinner. Which I was ok but felt uncomfortable. I didn’t tell her about my feelings and allow her to go out with this person. Around 9 pm (Belgium time) they both go out for dinner. After they were both done eating she asked me if it bother me for her to get a few drinks. I told her that it didn’t. Around 1 am I asked her when they were leaving and she told me that they were going to another bar. I was outraged and told her that I was not ok with that. She got upset and told me she was heading back to the hotel. On the way there she sent me pics as she was walking back. Once she got to her room she notified me. At that point we started arguing back and forward. Most of the arguing was via text messages. Around 3 am she told me she was getting tired and wanted to go to bed. I found this odd and asked her to send me a picture of herself in the room.
I knew something didn’t feel right and when she sent me the picture I notice a mirror behind her and I could see that she was not in her room and was with her coworker. I confronted both but as she always does she denied having sexual intercourse. She told me that I was overreacting as she didn’t see anything wrong with the situation.
After 16 years of lies and problems I can’t trust her and the little trust I had in her is gone.on Friday I filled for divorce and now she is begging me to think about our two kids and everything we have build together. Why she didn’t think about the consequences of her actions? Btw she immediately flew back the next day. Her trip was supposed to end on Tuesday next week. Am I overreacting? honestly I’m completely destroy and just wanted to vent. I left the house and I’m staying at a hotel, just drinking my pain away.

2024.06.09 06:05 ElectricalComputer54 Is it reasonable to set time boundaries with my PI?

I am in a tricky situation and wanted to get other opinions. I am finishing up my 4th year as a PhD student in a university in the US and having a hard time with expectations from my PI to be available at all times. For more context, I am the only PhD student and we don't have any lab tech, so it's just my PI and I. She is a little bit more hands on as my research involves getting blood samples from labor deliveries and since I need to be blinded for the studies, my PI does most of the consenting of patients and coordinating with the MDs to get the samples. Due to unpredictability of when a patient will deliver I am usually at the lab at all times of the day/night. To be fair, my PI also has to be there at least an hour when the samples are being collected which she then hands over to me and I process the samples.
On top of this very difficult schedule, my PI takes the liberties to set up meetings/demand experiments to be done at odd hours; I'm talking 8pm on a weekday or 6pm on a Sunday. I guess in her brain, my life is perpetually on call due to the sample collection so it must be okay to randomly want to have some results/look at some data at odd hours. However, looking back, before we started this crazy sample collection schedule, there were several other times where she requested to meet during holidays or late at night, but I didn't think too much of it. My mistake and should have switched labs then.
This has taken so much of a toll on my mental/emotional health because I feel like I have to work all the time. I do get Saturdays off since I am Jewish but even with that, she sometimes demands that I do things after sunset on Saturdays so it doesn't feel like a full day off. Apart from that, my PI is also very controlling and if she calls me or messages me at these odd hours or demanding that I take care of something and I ignore her, she'll keep calling, sending multiple emails and text messages until she gets a response from me. And times when I tell her I have prior engagements, she gets mad and basically guilt trips me about how much she is helping me with the project and I'm not doing my part. I genuinely think she has a personality disorder or something since there are other very abusive things going on that are too much to detail here.
I have been getting therapy and my therapist suggests I set a boundary on times I am available for meetings and experiments and ask her not to contact me outside of those times except when we have a sample, which I am happy to prioritize over everything else. However, I wanted to know if it is reasonable to make this request considering the fact she is also technically sacrificing a lot for this project. Again, I don't mind the collecting samples part, but it is the random meetings/demanding experiments to be completed at odd hours that is making me lose my mind. This has been going on for more than year now and I am at my breaking point. Quitting and joining a new lab in my 5th year is not an option at this stage.

This is really long, sorry/thanks in advance
tldr: my dads a drug addict, possibly a narc, who has fucked me over one too many times and now i dont know what to do.
Me (18F) and my dad (44M) have always had a good relationship, until now. My dads been a drug addict, specifically crack, for about ten years now. When my parents were still together, he had gone to inpatient rehab twice because my mom has really good insurance through her work. At the time he was doing a lot of freelance construction work so me and my younger sisters (13 yo twins) were told that he was on a job in a neighboring state. When i was ten, my parents say me and my sisters down and told us about my dads addiction and how they were getting a divorce. I didnt really know anything at the time about drugs, but i knew they were bad and i remember being confused and scared. In 2016 my parents divorced and my dad went to live about 40- 60 mins away from us and we saw him on the weekends. He was working as a handyman at an apartment complex in exchange for no rent and low pay. His girlfriend (43F), we'll call her M, very quickly moved in with him (my parents divorced in april, him and his gfs "anniversary" is in may) and brought two kids with her, one boy, we'll call him i, who is now 10 y/o and lived with her fulltime, and one girl, a, who is now 16 who has split custody with her and M's ex-husband. I didn;t see much of this happen, but i learned about two years ago that my dad was using a lot during the weekdays when me and my sisters werent there, and was also using his work credit card for food. This leads us to may 2022 when he was arrested. I still dont have a clear reason of why he was arrested, but a few likely causes are a hotel room he had destroyed during a crack binge, the employer mentioned above that he was stealing from, and another job that he did in which he was paid before he had finsihed the job and then didnt finish the job. He got three months for whatever his original arrest was for, and it was very very hard on myself, my sisters, his gf, and her kids both mentally and financially, as my dad was the breadwinner. In between 2016 and 2022, my dad had done a dozen shitty things to myself, my sisters, his gf, and her kids, including but not limited to dumping myself and my sisters at our aunts house so he could go get high while he claimed that his car broke down, dissapeared at least a dozen times on 1-3 day crack binges, and having massive anger issues that made us all scared of him. I've learned in the last few years that my dad is very very VERY good at making everything seem like someone elses fault, and making himself appear innocent. anyways, my dad was released in august of 2022 and had 1-2 years of probation. I made the decision to move in with my dad in december of 2022 bc me and my mom had a very strained relationship at the time, mostly bc she doesnt show love very well, at least not the way i want to be shown love, and that she had access to my bank account bc i was a minor and was using the money from my job to pay for food, gas, etc. this was both my [arents fault, bc my dad wasnt contributing to child support at all, and my mom was really drowning in debt and money issues. presently, me and my mom are doing a little better, partly bc shes in a slightly better place financially and partly bc shes been supportive of everything ive gone thru w my dad in the last 2-3 years. Last summer, april/may of 2023, he violated his probation by "mixing up the dates" and going to his appt with his PO a week late. While he claims that he just forgot what day it was on, its more likely that he was just using again and knew that he wouldnt test clean, and decided to wait since crack is out of your system, at least in terms of urine, in about three days. He got a sentence of thirty days, accounting for time served, and he was released in late may. I was still living with him and his gf at the time and it was horrible to see his gf struggle so badly without him there as the breadwinner. I used every one of my paychecks during this period to pay for food or give her money for bills or gas during this time. one thing about loving an addict is that there is always some doubt that they are lying to you about what they're doing, where they're going, what they're spending money on, and if they're even sober. while i believed him for the most part, a small part of me doubted that he really just mixed up the dates of his PO meeting. my dad and his gf also had issues within their relation ship that caused a lot of fighting and just a weird and tense environment. I knew this, but it was way worse than I thought before I actually lived with them. About six months ago, it got to the point where his gf broke up with him and he went on a crack binge and dissapeared for three days. I was still living with him then, and it really messed me up and i was so angry and hurt. this was when I decided to move back in with my mom, as he was just too unstable especially without his gf, and i was trying to focus on college stuff and graduating. I moved back in with my mom almost a year after i had moved out, this past february. I went back to staying with him during the weekends, and he actually moved into the basement of the house we were renting. It's kind of a weird situation, but the landlords live in another state, but their daughter and her young kid still live in this state, so when the landlords visited they would stay in the basement. the landlord was also kind of my dads confidant/ sponsor, as he was a religious man and him and my dad had an odd relationship of part landlord part friend. the landlord agreed to let my dad move into the basement and have someone else rent upstairs, as the landlords also wanted to up the rent from 1700 to 2000 a month. I learned at this time that my dad owed the landlords 16,000 dollars in rent/ loaned money. he told me that the landlords had given him a year to pay this money back, or at least a good chunk of it, or they would completely evict him. this was february/march of 2024. around this time, about a month after him and his gf/M had broken up, he started talking to/dating another women that he had went to highschool/ troubled kid school with (red flag number one). in short, they dated for about a month and a half and for about a month she was moved in and living with him until my dad found out she was a crazy bitch and a methhead. she moved out in early may, and he was arrested the same week for, ONCE AGAIN, missing his damn probation meeting BY A WEEK. Yes, he did the same thing he had done almost exactly a year prior. while he was living in the basement of this house, he was also fixing up the upstairs for someone else to rent, which the landlord was paying him for. the really great part was that he was arrested on monday, and the landlord was coming down that thursday/ friday to come get it ready to rent and meet the new potential renters. the saturday after he was arrested, my aunt picked me up after one of the worst eight hour shifts i'd ever had at my job, and told me that my dad had no house, no job, no car, and basically nowhere to go when he eventually got out of jail. that afternoon/night i met the landlord for the first time. It was humiliating listenign to the landlord tell me, my aunt, and my uncle that my dad actually owed him about 50,000 dollars in rent/ loaned money/ work he didnt do but was payed fo tools/ etc. this man is truly a saint, bc the first thing he asked me is if i have a place to stay, as he didnt know that i was living with my mom and wanted to make sure that i had a place to live despite everything with my dad. he even paid for three months of a storage unit for my dads stuff and gave us a week and a u haul to move everything out. i also learned that my dads boss, who owned his own kind of freelancing construction company, found about twnety tools in my dads garage that he thought he had lost which led him to fire my dad. backtracking a bit, about a week before he was arrested my dad got back with his gf/M, so she was involved in some of this too. she got her a different lawyer than the one he had previously and my aunt worked with the lawyer to try and make a case for the judge for my dad to go to a sober living facility instead of jail. we all wrote letters to the judge, including my dads ex-landlord and ex-boss, advocating for him to go to court mandated inpatient rehab/ sober living. I'll admit, my letter was short and shitty because i knew that my dad didnt want help and that any amount of time in rehab or a half-way house wouldnt change his mind. the letters didnt really work, and my dad was sentneced to another thirty days with time served. thankfully, the judge was considerate and allowed him to leave for one day so he could go to my graduation ceremony. honestly, i don't even think i wanted him to be there. i wasn't happy that he was, even when i saw him, i was just apathetic. this leads to now, in which he gets out on tuesday (6/11) and i dont know what to do. i want to tell him that he's a piece of shit and that he doesnt deserve to even be in my life and that i dont really ever want to talk to him again bc im really convinced that he will never be sober or take accountability for his actions, the way he has hurt everyone that loves him over and over again, not to mention the egregious amount of money he owes to multiple people. but he's also my dad and in between all the bad stuff i've mentioned, hes an amazing dad and person. one of my coworkers, whos really one of my bestfriends and who i tell almost everything to, has even said that she cant imagine how hard it must be to see both sides of him and have to choose whether to have faith in the part of him that i know loves me to death and is an amazingly strong, funny, kind, accepting man or the part of him that is ruled by addiction and cant take accountability for his actions and thinks that his family holding him accountable is "being negative" and trying to stop him from being happy (both things he said to me). i dont want to lose my dad, but i dont think i can keep putting myself through this. especially considering i'll be three hours away at college in three months. the really funny part is that he'll be back in jail, either for 30 days or 60, bc the state is suing him for not paying child support, and his hearing is in july. some part of me wants to just avoid him for the next month until hes back in jail and then run away to college in august and not have to deal with him, and the other part of me wants him to know every time that he has let me down, fucked me over, upset me, caused me to lose sleep, and what will probably happen to him if he keeps doing this shit. what do i say to him? do i avoid him? do i confront him and confront years of anxiety and cowardliness from me as i always kept the peace and stayed quiet with him? i know this isnt really narc parent material, but theres not really a sub for addict parents. i appreciate any adivce or words you have. (also thanks for reading this took an insanely long time to type out)

Hi everyone, it’s my first time posting here. I held back from saying anything but for some reason I was pushed to post this today. I am a male DF, and currently in separation from my twin. This might be a longer one, so whomever takes their valuable time to read this; I appreciate you and I hope you get the best in your life (this goes for anyone who might troll too).
So my journey started back in June of 2022. I met my TF at the gym. Same ethnic background, same age, and weirdly enough; when I showed my mom a picture of her, she said that we looked related. My friend literally was in shock when he realized that we have the same eyes. There was one problem though…..she was married. We kept it as friends for a bit but the more we communicated, the more we realized and agreed that this relationship between us wasn’t normal. On my end, I saw repeating numbers, animals following me around (specifically 2 crows), and even one time where she hugged me and I swear to God that I heard her say “I love you too” in my head. A few weeks later, she said the real thing in person. Things evolved quick…like super quick. And I found out the truth about her marriage. She’s from a different country, and the marriage wasn’t founded upon love. It wasn’t arranged, she just made a stupid mistake that she regretted. But, it was the reason she came to America. It was really toxic. Like every sort of abuse you can imagine except for physical. She wanted to leave, but she needed money and was afraid of how her parents would react back home. She needed a job, and she was trying to become to cop (ironically in the same city where my parents own a business and actually know everyone pretty much in the precinct). Our entire time together literally encompassed her initial academy test, all the way until the first week of her actual academy (10 months give or take). When I asked her if there’s a chance of us being together her response was “My biggest fear is that I keep you waiting because I don’t know WHEN I’m going to leave him”. This was very early on before she even had the job. I told her that I’d wait until I was 80 if I had to, and I meant it. A few months later, she told me that she saw a future with me.
We were so happy when we were together. We got closer and closer each week. There were times where I swear to God I would feel depressed out of nowhere and when I talked to her, she was too. We would find every excuse to hold a hand, give a hug, or even a kiss on the palms or forehead. We both got SUPER close to an intimate kiss many times, but we both had strong morals. Ironically enough, the very last I saw her, she finally caved and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. She was so embarrassed that she cracked, it was so cute lol.
We would communicate mainly through IG. Which is where in April of last year, she told me that her husband saw our messages. And to not text or call her anymore. No I’m sorry, no I love you, no good bye. I knew it wasn’t her who wrote that because she never used the word “husband”. It made her skin crawl when thinking of him like that. I know it was him who told her to write that or even wrote it himself.
Everything went dark. It literally was like that Homelander meme where all he hears is a ringing sound. I wanted to cry, but couldn’t. I called my mom. Oddly and calmly she said “This is the beginning of the end for her marriage. Trust me”. Which was odd because she always told me to move on and don’t talk to a married woman.
This happened 2 weeks before I turned 33. The age where everyone says is the Age of Enlightenment….yeah. Yup. Oh yeah. And here is where the unexplainable stuff started to happen. So she didn’t block me, or unfollow me for weeks. Until my mom called one day and said the police captain told her that she was in the academy and doing a great job so far. This was the first news I got about her since the separation. My mom talked to them about her during the interview process so they remembered. Literally as soon as I got off the phone, I checked IG……and she unfollowed me during that call.
I’ll try to be less granular here; but over the next year, I literally changed on a spiritual level. And others noticed. I became a mode of support for others. My empathy was unlike anything I’ve ever felt. And I started helping others in their spiritual journey. I have a friend who I train at the gym who started going through girl problems and I used my experiences here as a template to guide him. I’m different now….very different. In a great way. But I also feel like I’m legitimately going through a manic episode. Let me explain, here’s some more “weird” stuff that the ego cannot comprehend:
-Since last June, I’ve had vivid dreams about her. I would write down the dates of when they happened….nearly every single one of them took place during the 5 day windows of new/full moons
-Last June I got an INCREDIBLE pull in my heart. I started crying out of nowhere and my gut told me to go to the gym that second. I checked her IG and she had just deleted hundreds of followers (I was in the DNOTS and was checking every hour at that time). I think it was him deleted all her male friends, just a gut feeling.
-I’m seeing repeating numbers every single day. They would cycle as to what was the “hot” number at the time (the one that kept showing up the most). This includes 144 and her birthday especially since the Total eclipse in April (also, we separated the day after the last total eclipse in April 2023)
-I ask the universe/God for a sign to move on or stay, and within hours I get a weird sign that tells me to push forward. This happens like once a month
-Every bit of news I’ve gotten has come from the police officers. Back in April, my mom asked for a sign from God about this whole thingand they came in to tell us the first news in months just a few days after. Now she’s convinced this is all real and she’s coming back
-Speaking of, the news was that she moved to a different department in the force. One that was away from the field duties. Why is that weird? 2 days before we found out, I had an anxiety attack thinking about what if we get together and something bad happens to her. That fear was resolved with the move.
-There was a point where I would see multiple sets of butterflies every single day as I would drive around….in the winter here on the West Coast. I think I’ve seen maybe 2 since then. I guess symbolizing transformation
-Finally, right when I first met her I didn’t even get a feeling that she was my twin; I went to my close friend who reads and he said that I will be with a girl who is literally just like me, we will have a very quick and intense build-up, and I will know within a month that I want to marry her. The very next day I saw her for the first time in a week, and realized she was talking about her life almost exactly like she was telling me about mine. And 2 weeks later, I knew I wanted to marry her (this was before I found out the truth about her marriage, so it was a weird thing for me to think of)
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Idk what I expect from writing this post. My intuition isn’t letting me give up on this and I’m pretty much in a “well, I’ll make myself better for her and I and help others along the way until she returns” mindset. I don’t care for other girls anymore, and that’s…calming. If you want to give advice, use my post for motivation on your own journey, provide some words of encouragement, or just tell me I’m crazy; I appreciate you, regardless. Shit, maybe one of you are supposed to give me a sign today, who knows.
One last thing; being a TF isn’t easy. It sucks. This is fucking hell. But….nothing worth it ever comes easy. Follow your gut, never give up, and most of all; never lose hope.

I (21f) told my friend Shane (20M) about our mutual friend Becca’s (20f) uncomfortable encounter with a college staff member a few days ago. Now I'm contemplating if I should end our friendship.
Some context: Shane is a sweet but extremely quiet guy who is very strong in his Christian beliefs and has been homeschooled his whole life up until college. While in college, his life revolved around our friend group, and his role in the group can best be described as the youth pastor. Becca, until a few weeks ago, was brand new to the friend group.
I have actually known Becca longer than Shane because she and I attended the same high school way back when. I had seen her around the local community college that all three of us attend but never realized who she was because her looks had drastically changed since high school. She also works at the school. This will be important later.
It wasn't until we all attended a school-funded trip that Shane invited Becca to join that I started to get close to her again.
After this trip, things took a downward spiral. Becca was new to our pre-existing friend group that was attending this same trip, which has a ratio of 3 females to 6 males. Immediately after this trip, 4 out of the 6 guys made a move on Becca, one being Shane. The other girls and I always suspected that Shane had feelings for her since he always invited her to any group outing since the fall of ‘23. He asked her on a date one time but she rejected him because like most of the other girls have said, “He’s too nice”
Besides all this, Becca and I have started to hang out more and talk almost every single day. During this time together, she confessed that on top of all the guys within the group pursuing her one way or another, she had some “weird” encounters with a particular faculty member she works closely with on campus.
The faculty member has often offered to give her rides to another campus in the next town over whenever a school event comes up. She usually agrees to save on gas money, so she meets him at his home and departs from there.
One of the times when they came back, it was late, probably 9 PM. In previous discussions, they had talked about his dogs and how his home was getting some renovations. So when they returned to his home that late night, he insisted on her coming in to look at the dogs and the house to get the “Grand Tour,” as he said. Too kind to say no, she accepts. Nothing out of the ordinary happens during the tour; he shows her the entire home and the dogs, even gifting her a spare mug she said was cute. By the time the tour is over, they are in his living room, and she throws out the old line, “Well, it’s late,” and is ready to leave.
However, he is persistent that they sit and continue to chat. She agrees out of kindness. He moves a few pillows from a small loveseat in the living room, and she goes to sit down. Then he sits closely next to her on the same loveseat. Odd as it is, they continue to talk. He ends up giving her another gift, this time a waterproof journal for her to use on the trip they are both attending this summer with multiple students to the Midwest to hike so that students can finish their science requirements.
She takes the journal and thanks him when the dogs come over. As she turns away to pet the dogs, still seated, it is then that the faculty member starts to give her a massage.
He says she looks tense and that he gives massages to his neighbor as well. Obviously creeped out, she gets up from this interaction, finishes petting the dogs, thanks him for the gifts, and leaves.
Becca tells me that after this, she frequently receives text messages from him with pictures of his dogs, offers to go hiking, and rides to the other campus.
As uncomfortable as it was to hear all this, Becca expressed that she was simply going to limit contact. End of that.
One day, Becca and I talked to another one of our mutual friends about this situation to get advice/opinions. Their advice was to mention that she had a date, therefore she couldn't take up the faculty member’s offer on another car ride. This seemingly has worked because he hasn't talked to her much since, and it’s been mostly above board when he does text her.
The next day is where I messed up. I told Shane all about the situation with the faculty member and about some of the guys who had pursued her after the school trip, while on a gossip-filled rant about some other people. From what I can remember about the interaction, he seemed kind of silent yet surprised. I told him not to share any of it because the situation seemed handled. I trusted him as he is used to my secrets and rants.
The following morning, in a group chat with me and Becca, he tells us that he has contacted the school to file a report about the faculty member due to my conversation with him from the previous day. He says it was morally the right thing to do and wasn't something to joke about as it will protect Becca. He added that it didn't feel right with him knowing that an UNDERAGE student was having inappropriate contact with a faculty member. (remember Becca is 20, and the faculty member is in late 40s)
He shared the email with us and I'll just summarize here: “I need to inform you of a situation involving an anonymous underage student and an anonymous faculty member in their late 40s/early 50s. The faculty member has invited the student to their house in the evening at least once. While nothing bad has happened to my knowledge, the faculty member has invaded the student's personal space without prior consent. There may be no ill intentions, but should this be investigated? Is there someone I should report this to? I'm keeping both parties anonymous to respect their privacy, but I want to prevent any potential issues from escalating.”
I immediately confessed to Becca what all I had said to him the previous day and my sincere regret in sharing as I didn't know he would take such drastic actions. She ultimately forgives me as she understands that I was just sharing the information with someone who is close to both of us, and that she should have made it more clear to me that she wanted the situation to be discreet.
She replies to Shane stating that she wanted him to retract his emailed report because it was her business and she would have taken similar actions if she felt it was necessary.
He agrees and apologizes, saying he should have reached out to her initially but his concerns got the better of him.
She says she understands but it wasn't his place. I, on the other hand, am enraged. I called him and kindly told him not to share anymore with anyone else and that me telling him wasn't me asking him to save her. He says he will remove himself from the situation and apologizes.
A few days later, he texts again and apologizes once more in a long message. He says that as soon as I heard about this from Becca I should have gone to the higher-ups about it. That it is not humorous, and that the faculty member broke the code of conduct by letting a student into his home. He adds, “Even if you have to go against the wishes of someone, doing what is morally right is most important. Sometimes doing something that temporarily emotionally hurts the ones we love can save them in the long run.” To note, he also sent this message after receiving confirmation from the school’s head of Code of Conduct that he did the right thing.
At this point, I'm pushed to my limit and I snapped. I reply by saying that I and others in our friend group have probably broken numerous codes of conduct but he never once reported those because it served his obsession with the group being like a “family”. And that he is NOT THE VICTIM and that it was not his report to make. By saying that the student was underage, it made it sound like a student under 18 was being assaulted by a teacher in their home.
He again apologizes and says it was best in the long run and he hopes we can understand his point of view.
Again, I COMPLETELY understand that I am in the wrong for letting gossip get the better of me and I am the pot calling the kettle black, but never in a million years would I have done what Shane did without consulting Becca, and while I know he is a very kind soul, I cannot forgive him for breaking my trust and failing to understand the severity of his actions.
I have had many discussions with Becca in the aftermath and she forgives me because she understood I was close with Shane up until recently so she can see why I would share that information with him. I have been very open about my actions going forward with her and she agreed to this post because we both want a third party opinion on how to approach Shane and the general situation for the foreseeable future.
