Is Pesto Keto-Friendly?

2024.05.21 16:47 fifi_edits Is Pesto Keto-Friendly?

Pesto is a nutritious sauce and condiment available in many tasty variations, but is pesto keto-friendly?
Yes, traditionally prepared pesto is low in carbs and can be a great way to add depth of flavor to various keto recipes.
Discover the benefits of regularly incorporating pesto into a ketogenic diet and learn how to make the best Healthy Keto® pesto recipe.

What is pesto?

Originating from Genoa, Italy, authentic pesto sauce is crafted from simple ingredients, including fresh basil leaves, garlic, parmesan cheese, pecorino cheese, pine nuts, olive oil, sea salt, and pepper.
The name pesto comes from the Genovese word pestare, which means to pound or crush. It depicts the traditional method of preparing pesto using a mortar and pestle to combine ingredients.
Here are common ingredients used in different pesto varieties.

Common herbs used in pesto

The original pesto recipe, Pesto alla Genovese, exclusively uses Genovese basil as the primary herb due to its unique sweetness.
Basil is a delicate herb, and using the mortar and pestle instead of harshly chopping or blending with a food processor slows down the oxidation of the leaves. This not only helps preserve the sauce's vivid green hue but also enhances its flavor and aroma.
However, pesto has evolved to encompass a broader range of ingredients.
Here are some other common herbs used in many pesto recipes:
In addition to herbs, many pesto sauces incorporate ingredients such as arugula, spinach, kale, lemon juice, or tomatoes.

Common nuts used in pesto

Similarly, some recipes replace the traditional toasted pine nuts with other types of nuts to add a unique twist to the classic dish.
Here are some commonly used nuts used to prepare pesto:

Is pesto keto-friendly?

Traditional pesto is low in carbohydrates and contains less than one gram of net carbs per tablespoon. This makes pesto an excellent keto-friendly option that offers impressive flavors.
However, since there are many different pesto variations, it’s crucial to read labels to check that there are no added sugars or hidden carbs that could interfere with ketosis.
For those following Healthy Keto, a low-carb diet that focuses on nutrient-dense whole foods, checking the ingredients list is essential, as many pre-made pestos can include potentially harmful additives and preservatives.
Watch this video to discover the health and nutritional benefits of basil.
Amazing Health & Nutritional Benefits Of Basil

4 health benefits of pesto

Authentic basil pesto combines several superfoods high in nutrients, offering many potential health benefits.
Here are four reasons why you should incorporate more pesto into your meals.

1. Anti-aging properties

Research published in Frontiers in Nutrition shows that healthy fats, particularly the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids found in olive oil, can improve brain function and help reduce the risk of cognitive decline.
These fatty acids are also vital for supporting eye health and contribute to healthier skin by improving skin barrier function and hydration.

2. Supports the immune system

According to a study published in Foods, Genovese basil is particularly rich in polyphenols, including rosmarinic and caffeic acid.
These health-promoting compounds have been linked to potent anti-inflammatory effects that support immune system function and may lower the risk of chronic diseases.
3. Potential anti-cancer effects
Key ingredients in pesto, including basil, garlic, and olive oil, are exceptional sources of antioxidants that may help lower cancer risk.
Antioxidants can counteract the effects of free radicals, thereby preventing oxidative stress, which is linked to cellular and DNA damage, a leading cause of cancer.

4. Promotes digestive health

Parmigiano Reggiano, widely considered the best cheese for pesto, contains digestive enzymes and beneficial gut bacteria, also known as probiotics.
Probiotics help maintain a healthy gut microbiome essential for nutrient absorption, digestive health, and overall well-being.
Research published in Food Technology and Biotechnology found that Parmigiano Reggiano also contains oligosaccharides, which act as a prebiotic food source for beneficial gut bacteria.

Store-bought vs. homemade pesto

Italians will be the first to tell you there's no comparison between store-bought and homemade pesto sauce.
Pesto is a delicate sauce that’s best consumed fresh, as its flavor and quality can deteriorate quickly, becoming bitter and dull as the enzymes released from basil oxidize.
To help extend pesto’s shelf life, store-bought versions often contain preservatives and additives that can negatively impact the flavor and quality of the sauce and may harm your health.
Additionally, many store-bought pestos will substitute critical ingredients, such as extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), cheese, or fresh garlic, with cheaper alternatives or omit them entirely, leading to a bland or unpalatable flavor and a significantly lower nutritional value.

How to choose the best store-bought pesto sauce

Homemade pesto sauce is always preferred, but if you don't have time to make it, the best premade pestos can often be found in the refrigerated section.
Look for pestos that don't contain artificial preservatives or low-quality ingredients, such as sunflower oil or potato flakes. Instead, opt for certified organic and non-GMO products that use high-quality oil and real cheese sourced from grass-fed and pasture cows.

Keto-friendly pesto recipes

If you're looking for a way to add extra flavor to your keto meals, look no further than pesto. Chicken, fish, steak, and most vegetables pair exceptionally well with this tasty and versatile sauce.
Here are some delicious keto-friendly pesto recipes:
To complete your pesto experience, try experimenting with keto pasta recipes.
Zucchini noodles, keto gnocchi, and keto egg noodles are excellent low-carb pasta alternatives that work well with keto pesto sauce.

Tips to make the best pesto sauce

Here are some tips on how to choose the best ingredient to make a nutritious and flavorful pesto at home.

Parmesan cheese

Opt for authentic Parmigiano Reggiano, an Italian staple that’s been in production for over 900 years.
Known for its rich, nutty flavor and granular texture, Parmigiano Reggiano undergoes a meticulous aging process and adheres to stringent production standards, ensuring its authenticity and superior quality.
The Parmigiano Reggiano standard guidelines underscore a commitment to natural production, prohibiting additives and ensuring cows are fed local forage.
This approach not only guarantees the cheese's premium taste but also preserves essential nutrients and probiotics.

Olive oil

Select only pure cold-pressed EVOO. Many olive oils on the market are diluted with cheaper oils that compromise flavor and can introduce harmful ingredients that may negatively impact your health.
In addition, evidence published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition summarizes, "phenolic content of olive oil is reduced by chemical extraction and refining."
By prioritizing cold-pressed EVOO, you ensure your olive oil is rich in flavor and health-promoting properties.

Fresh Genovese basil

Harvested during early growth stages to ensure optimal flavor, Genovese basil is the prime choice for making basil pesto.
As Dr. Berg explains, "Basil has some amazing health benefits. It’s loaded with vitamin K, manganese, and flavonoids, which can help support healthy bones, blood clotting, and skeletal health while offering potent anti-inflammatory properties.”

2024.05.21 13:37 HeyoWoopWoo Started isotretinoin journey / my rosacea story

Hello all!
I've (31, F) been dealing with rosacea type 1 and 2 since I was 15 with a mild case of ocular thrown in the mix (yay for the winning combo).
Treatment background: I've tried Ivermectin, Elidel, Metronidazole, Rozex, diets/suppl, no alcohol, doxycycline, Mirvaso, hypochl. acid, azelaic acid, zinc oxide and other OTC products, have been wearing sunscreen daily for years, IPL and Vbeam.
I've definitely seen progress with some of the treatments (could be a post of it's own) but I'm still not where I'd like to be. Right now I've put my fight with Type 1 on hold because the treatment interferes with my Type 2 treatment:
In the recent years I've had two serious type 2 flares for which doxycycline proved to be the winner of all treatments. Bonus: ocular symptoms improved aswell. When I came off the doxy (was on it for 3 months) for the first time I'd see my skin worsen but it was nowhere as bad as before.
Around August 2023 I think my skin was already pissed off by using sulphur soap too often and not moisturising properly. Then the morning after a party (alcohol incl), summer heat and using Azelaic acid was the final blow. The months after my skin exploded and I was miserable. Suddenly my type 1 didn't seem so bad because I was dealing with a full blown type 2 party from hell. It's still hard to admit to this day but at times I wanted to end it all because of how miserable I had gotten. I starting working from home permanently, stopped dating, hardly went out anymore. It was terrible. I decided to try another round of doxy to get me out of this state, which thankfully helped!
I took my round 2 of doxy (100/day) for around 8 months. I know it's way longer than the usual 3 months but I spoke about it with my derm at length. Plus, I started looking for a new job at that time, started dating again and I desperately needed to feel like a happy person again after feeling like absolute shit for half a year. Thankfully, round 2 worked like a charm again and I was clear, minus some minor breakouts.
Now, I know some people here are on antibiotics permanently but I wasn't comfortable with this idea. After going through my options with my current derm and seeking a second opinion from another derm everyone came to the same conclusion: either take doxy in cycles (so that I can still come off) permanently or try a last option, isotretinoin.
Iso scares me because of the side effects but potential antibiotic resistance scares me even more. So, two weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet, come off the doxy and started isotretinoin. FYI: doxy and iso are not to be taken together because of potential swelling of the brain.
I'm 70 kgs and on 20/day, started on the 7th of May. Blood testing included, zero alcohol, sunscreen always. No chance of me getting pregnant so not on birth control but I need to do a mandatory pregnancy test anyway. The latter is just protocol, so I'll respect that.
Why am I posting all this? For two reasons. Firstly, I know what it feels like to be absolutely miserable because of this condition. Hiding from society, scared of the future of my skin and mental health. I've spent countless tears and dark days dealing with this shit. I want to tell you that you are not alone. You're not "being dramatic" or "vain" when the skin on your face feels like it's burning all the time or covered in p&p's. What you're feeling is valid. But I'm also here to tell you not to give up! There's progress to be made! Ask me anything in the comments!
Second reason: I'll be posting each month for anyone dealing with type 2 that considers taking isotretinoin. I'll be 100% transparent about the treatment, progress, side effects etc. Reading other ppls posts on here has helped me immensely so now it's my turn. I hope my isotretinoin journey will help you decide your own path.
Thank you. I will post in around two weeks, when I'm 1 month in on 20/daily isotretinoin.

How High Cholesterol Can Influence Blood Pressure?
https://preview.redd.it/05pmq5e5sn1d1.png?width=1792&format=png&auto=webp&s=d1df7a210a456afcbdc23389005acb19dce1f0ae
In exploring the intricate relationship between various health conditions, one question frequently arises: does high cholesterol cause high blood pressure? This connection underscores a critical aspect of cardiovascular health, as both high cholesterol and hypertension are significant contributors to heart disease. Understanding the interplay between these two factors is essential, not only for individuals directly affected by these conditions but for anyone interested in maintaining optimal health. As cholesterol and triglycerides levels rise, so does the risk for hypertension, prompting a closer examination of how lifestyle, age, gender, and dietary habits influence these key health indicators.
This article delves into the link between blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart health, highlighting the mutual pathways through which they impact one’s well-being. It will explore various lifestyle changes, such as exercise, smoking cessation, adherence to a Mediterranean diet, and weight loss, that can effectively manage both conditions. Additionally, it will cover the role of medications in controlling blood pressure and LDL cholesterol levels, advocating for preventative measures and regular screening based on age and gender, to catch any warning signs early. Through this comprehensive overview, readers will gain insights into managing their health proactively, with a focus on mitigating the risks associated with high cholesterol and blood pressure.

The Link Between Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Heart Health

Understanding the Relationship
High blood pressure and high cholesterol are intricately connected, each significantly impacting heart health. Individuals with high cholesterol levels often face increased blood pressure, as the excess cholesterol can deposit along artery walls, causing them to stiffen and narrow. This narrowing forces the heart to work harder to pump blood, subsequently raising blood pressure levels [4]. Moreover, the presence of high cholesterol is associated with the development of metabolic syndrome, which includes a cluster of conditions that raise the risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes [4].
The Impact on Cardiovascular System
The relationship between high blood pressure and high cholesterol is bidirectional and complex. High blood pressure itself can damage arteries, creating tears where cholesterol can accumulate, leading to further narrowing and blockage [4]. This cycle of damage and response increases the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. Over time, the continuous strain and damage to the cardiovascular system can lead to severe health issues, including kidney malfunction and vision loss [6].
Statistics and Prevalence
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, with high blood pressure and high cholesterol recognized as major contributing factors. Approximately one in three adults in the U.S. has high blood pressure, and similarly, about one in three adults has high cholesterol [9]. The coexistence of these conditions not only doubles the strain on the cardiovascular system but also significantly heightens the risk of developing heart-related diseases. Efforts to control these levels through medication and lifestyle changes are critical, as they can profoundly influence the overall health and longevity of individuals [9].

Lifestyle Changes to Manage Both Conditions

Diet and Nutrition Tips
Adopting a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products can significantly lower high blood pressure by up to 11 mm Hg. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet and the Mediterranean diet are particularly effective in managing blood pressure levels [21]. These diets emphasize reducing intake of saturated fats and cholesterol, which can also help in managing cholesterol levels. The DASH diet, for instance, is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium, focusing on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains while limiting high-salt and high-fat foods [14].
Physical Activity Recommendations
Regular physical activity can lower high blood pressure by about 5 to 8 mm Hg. It is recommended to aim for at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as walking, jogging, or cycling. Incorporating strength training at least two days a week can also reduce blood pressure and help manage cholesterol levels [21][16]. For those starting a new exercise regime, it’s advisable to increase the amount and intensity gradually, ensuring a consistent approach to improving cardiovascular health.
Weight Management Strategies
Weight loss is highly effective in controlling high blood pressure. Losing even a small amount of weight can help manage or prevent high blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. A reduction in weight can decrease the strain on the heart, lower blood pressure, and improve overall heart health [20]. It’s important to combine healthy eating with regular exercise to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
Limiting Alcohol and Quitting Smoking
Limiting alcohol intake to moderate levels — up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men — can lower blood pressure by about 4 mm Hg [21]. However, excessive drinking can lead to an increase in blood pressure and negatively impact cholesterol levels [23].
Quitting smoking is crucial for managing both blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Smoking cessation leads to improved HDL cholesterol levels and reduces the risks of cardiovascular diseases. Within a year of quitting, the risk of heart disease is halved, and after 15 years, the risk is similar to that of non-smokers [22]. Smoking increases LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while lowering HDL cholesterol, thus quitting can have a substantial positive impact on cardiovascular health [22][24].

The Role of Medication in Controlling Blood Pressure and Cholesterol

When Lifestyle Changes Are Not Enough
For some individuals, lifestyle adjustments alone may not sufficiently manage high cholesterol and blood pressure levels. In such cases, medications become a crucial part of treatment to prevent the risk of heart disease and stroke. Statins, for instance, are commonly prescribed and have been proven to significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular incidents by lowering LDL cholesterol levels [28]. If lifestyle modifications like diet and exercise do not achieve desired results, healthcare professionals often recommend incorporating medication to ensure heart health is maintained [26].
Common Medications and Their Effects
Medications for managing cholesterol and blood pressure vary in function and form, addressing different aspects of cardiovascular health:
Statins (e.g., Atorvastatin, Simvastatin): These drugs reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while slightly increasing HDL cholesterol. They are linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke [29].
Cholesterol Absorption Inhibitors (e.g., Ezetimibe): Decrease LDL levels and are sometimes used in combination with statins for enhanced effect [28].
PCSK9 Inhibitors (e.g., Alirocumab, Evolocumab): These are used primarily for patients who have genetic conditions that result in very high LDL levels or who have not responded adequately to statins [29].
Bile Acid Sequestrants and Fibric Acid Derivatives (e.g., Cholestyramine, Fenofibrate): These medications help lower LDL cholesterol and are beneficial in cases where statins are not suitable [29].
Blood Pressure Medications such as ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, and calcium channel blockers, which help manage hypertension effectively [27].
Each medication comes with potential side effects, ranging from mild discomfort like muscle pain and indigestion to more serious conditions such as liver enzyme elevation or increased blood sugar levels. It is crucial for patients to discuss these risks with their healthcare provider [29].
The Importance of Adherence to Medication
Adhering to prescribed medication is vital for the treatment of high cholesterol and blood pressure. Discontinuing medication without consulting a healthcare professional can lead to adverse health outcomes. Regular consultations and following the prescribed medication regimen help manage the conditions effectively and reduce the risk of severe cardiovascular diseases [28]. Patients should be aware of the importance of maintaining their medication routine and not cease taking their medication unless advised by their healthcare provider, especially as some medications like statins need to be taken long-term to maintain their benefits [30].
Patients are encouraged to discuss any concerns or side effects with their healthcare provider to adjust the treatment plan as needed. This ensures that the management of cholesterol and blood pressure is optimized for each individual’s health requirements [28].

Preventative Measures and Regular Screening

Why Early Detection is Crucial
Early detection of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and heart failure (HF) plays a pivotal role in reducing the burden of these conditions. Studies have shown that preventive strategies, which include screening for CVD risk factors and early detection of CVD in asymptomatic individuals, can significantly decrease the occurrence of life-threatening cardiovascular events and hospital admissions. This not only results in potential health benefits but also reduces CVD costs (6–9)[2][11]. Furthermore, early detection offers the opportunity to test and develop effective lifestyle and pharmacologic interventions that may slow disease progression and improve patient outcomes [35].
Recommended Screening Intervals
For adults, especially those 20 years or older, it is recommended to get screened for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. This is because these conditions often start at earlier ages than in the past. The American Heart Association advises everyone in this age group to undergo screening and work with their doctor to manage high numbers [40]. Additionally, evidence suggests that optimal screening intervals might include annual screenings for adults 40 years or older and for those at increased risk for hypertension. For adults aged 18 to 39 years not at increased risk for hypertension and with a prior normal blood pressure reading, screening every 3 to 5 years may be appropriate [38].
Interpreting Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels
Understanding one’s blood pressure and cholesterol levels is crucial for maintaining heart health. High blood pressure and high cholesterol are often silent, with many experiencing no symptoms until there’s a serious blockage in the arteries to the heart. High blood pressure and cholesterol levels in young adults may increase heart disease risk later in life, even if those levels are controlled later on. High LDL cholesterol in early adulthood is linked with a 64% increase in heart disease risk later on, while high systolic and diastolic blood pressure are linked with 37% and 21% increased risks, respectively, for heart failure [40][41].
Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels can lower the chances of getting heart disease or having a stroke. All adults age 20 or older should have their cholesterol and other traditional risk factors checked every four to six years as long as risk remains low. If certain factors put one at high risk, or if one already has heart disease, health care professionals may recommend more frequent checks [42].
In managing health behaviors and risk factors such as diet quality, physical activity, and smoking, it’s essential to know which risk factors one has. Screenings during regular visits can help identify these risk factors. Measurements such as body weight and blood pressure are taken during routine medical appointments, and cholesterol screening begins at age 20. The frequency of follow-up will depend on one’s level of risk [37].

Conclusion

Maintaining healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels is essential for overall well-being and long-term health. FAQs

How Are High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure Connected?
High cholesterol contributes to the formation of plaque and calcium deposits in your arteries, making them hard and narrow. This condition forces your heart to work harder to pump blood through these restricted pathways, leading to increased blood pressure. Both high blood pressure and high cholesterol are significant risk factors for heart disease.
What Are the Indicators of High Cholesterol Levels?
The five warning signs that might indicate high cholesterol levels include experiencing symptoms related to heart disease, stroke, or atherosclerosis, such as chest pain on the left side, dizziness, difficulty walking steadily, slurred speech, and pain in the lower legs. These symptoms demand immediate medical attention as they could be directly linked to elevated cholesterol levels.
What Drinks Can Help Lower Cholesterol?
To manage cholesterol levels effectively, incorporating certain drinks into your diet can be beneficial. These include green tea, pomegranate juice, citrus juices, soy milk, plant-based smoothies, and red wine. These beverages can contribute to maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, especially when consumed as part of a balanced diet low in saturated and trans fats.
Which Foods Should Be Avoided If You Have High Cholesterol and Blood Pressure?
If you’re managing both high cholesterol and high blood pressure, it’s advisable to steer clear of foods rich in unhealthy saturated fats. Such foods include processed or deli meats like ham, bacon, and salami, deep-fried fast foods, processed snacks like biscuits and pastries, takeaway foods including hamburgers and pizza, visible fats on meat and poultry skin, as well as ghee, lard, copha, and coconut oil. Avoiding these foods can help in controlling both cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

2024.05.20 15:35 RegulusPratus New York Carnival 38 (Wasting Away Again)

I keep trying to close out the scene, but little things add up, and soon enough become a full chapter. Still trying to wind things down so I can put NYC on the backburner in favor of NYoC for a little bit. This isn't the arc finale, this is just a nice vignette.
One of the two tequila brands mentioned in this is made up. Can you guess which?
[First] - [Prev]
----------------------
Memory Transcription Subject: Chiri, Gojid Refugee
Date [standardized human time]: November 1, 2136
“I should probably go let Toki out,” said David, gesturing upwards. “Did you wanna come with, or would you rather wait here?”
I shook my head. I’d resigned myself to sleeping on the top floor as David’s guest, but I wouldn’t be caught dead taking that staircase more than once per day. “Let me catch my breath. I wanna play around with my new holopad anyway.”
“Fair. Be right back,” said David, as he trotted off towards the stairs.
The little device was a bit awkward in my paws, but it would do what it needed to do. Well, mostly. I turned it on, awkwardly trying to avoid scratching the screen with my claws. Humans didn’t really have claws, so their touchscreens revolved around mashing their squishy paw pad analogues into things.
You know, it’s kind of funny that you’d probably have a better time with an Arxur-built model, the odd voice pointed out.
I sighed. Don’t remind me.
“Greetings!” the holopad said in a cheerful female human voice.
“Eat my ass,” I said cheerfully back to the device.
“I’m sorry, I don’t think I quite understood that,” said the voice. “Would you like me to switch languages to Gojidi Union Standard?”
“Yes.”
The voice abruptly sounded more metallic, but it no longer required translation. “The applicable fontpack for that language is not yet available. May I recommend enabling text-to-speech and defaulting to voice commands?”
“Sounds good,” I told the device. A thought occurred. “Wait, you can make recommendations?” This thing wasn’t sapient, right?
“Yes, I’m happy to make recommendations,” the holopad said. “It’s near dinnertime. Would you like to hear about restaurants in your area?”
My eyes narrowed. “Sure. What’s the best vegan restaurant within ten miles that is currently open for business?”
There was a long pause as it, I presumed, took extra time to filter through which restaurants nearby weren’t permanently closed on account of antimatter bombardment. “There is a vegan food truck eight miles northeast of here that is well-regarded. Would you like a menu, or directions?”
Competition for my new home? “No, that won’t be necessary. Just send an airstrike at their current location, please.”
“I’m sorry, that is not within my capabilities,” it chirped. “May I help you with something else?”
My eyes drifted around the empty room. There were tables everywhere in a varying mix of worn wood and futuristic composites, paired erratically with old vintage lounge chairs and avant-garde ergonomics. It was aesthetic chaos. The accommodations sprawled across the ground floor, with an upper mezzanine full of more seating besides. This place would be exciting when it reopened. I looked at the bar full of bottles whose labels I couldn’t yet read, and wondered if I had what it took to be a skilled bartender like David thought.
I examined what Charmaine had left behind on the table. The bottle of brown liquor with a side of lime wedges. “Hey, can you identify objects visually?” I asked the holopad.
“Of course. Point me at the desired object, and I’ll do my best.” I indulged her--the voice was female, and so was the device now in my mind--and pointed the camera lens towards the bottle. “This is a Tequila Añejo. Tequila is a distilled spirit made from the fermented sap of a desert succulent plant, and the term Añejo implies that it has been barrel-aged at length to enhance its flavor. This particular bottle is from a popular brand called Don Julio.”
I opened the bottle and sniffed at it. It had a sharp, peppery scent, some woodsy notes from the barrel, and a peculiar funk that I’d never encountered before. I wasn’t familiar enough with tequila yet to know if that was unique to the brand, or just the baseline flavor. I’d mostly been trying David’s fruity and grain-heavy spirits, and this certainly smelled distinctly different.
“Is this a good Tequila?” I asked.
“It is a popular brand of Tequila,” the holopad repeated.
“Right, but is it good?” I asked insistently.
The holopad went silent for a moment. “A meta-analysis of popular reviewers provides the following consensus: it is an excellent quality Tequila, but it may be overpriced. Don Julio is a large, old, and prestigious distiller, and, after numerous mergers and acquisitions by its parent companies, they’ve leveraged their branding and pedigree to become a household name. Some smaller independent distillers are known to offer a product of comparable quality for a much lower price.”
Most of that tracked with what I knew about my family’s beverage business. There were perks to being an interplanetary cider heiress, even with the abrupt loss of the “something to inherit” part. Still, if this bottle was expensive, I wasn’t mucking about with it without asking. I picked the bottle back up, and put it back in the open spot on the shelf behind the bar. I nodded, satisfied, at the colorful display of glass and liquids. “Say, if I wanted to make a good tequila-based cocktail, where should I start?”
“The most iconic tequila-based cocktail is called a margarita. It has many variants, but the classic version is made from tequila, lime juice, and a sweet orange liqueur.”
I nodded. Made sense. A lot of Terran cocktails seemed to start with citrus fruits for their pleasant aroma, and to mix sour and sweet flavors. “What’s a good aged tequila to use in a cocktail without getting too expensive?” I held the holopad up towards the bar. “Please select the best choice from visual.”
The device considered the request, then highlighted a simple-looking bottle with a picture of a horned Venlil on it. “Cabra Furiosa,” it said. “There is some online debate over whether or not the company should rebrand. There is concern that the logo looks too much like a Venlil.”
I stared at the label in confusion. I mean, sure, the horns were wrong, and the eyes were weird, but come on, Venlil were one of the closest species to the Cradle. I’d recognize that wooly snout anywhere. “But that is a Venlil. Isn’t it?”
“That is a goat.”
I sighed. Another Terran wildlife lookalike. An enterprising human could probably hunt his way through the entire Federation without leaving home. Maybe that’s why they were so chill with us? Nothing they hadn’t already eaten before?
I picked the bottle up and set it aside. “Alright, point out the orange liqueurs that are good choices for a margarita?”
Four bottles were highlighted in succession, indicating an order. “Cointreau, a type of liqueur known as a triple sec, is the traditional option. Gran Marnier, which is a triple sec blended with brandy for subtlety and depth, is a popular alternative. If those are unavailable, any more generic varieties of triple sec should work. Lastly, Blue Curaçao would be an unconventional but technically valid choice.”
I stared at the bright blue liquid. “Why would Blue Curaçao be unconventional?”
“The flavor profile is somewhat divergent from the other liqueurs previously mentioned,” the holopad said, “but mostly because it would turn the drink blue.”
Alright. Little bit obvious, but fair. It wasn’t even a fun blue color like a berry, or a dangerous shade of blue like blood. Well, my blood.
In any event, I had some background at this point in brandy, so I pulled down the Gran Marnier, set it next to the tequila, grabbed a handful of lime wedges, and asked the holopad to walk me through how to make a margarita. I fiddled with the proportions for a while--and even added a teensy touch of some other “cocktail seasonings” like bitters and syrups--until I liked the scent and taste of it, before I shook it with ice. I heard a dog barking happily, and the sound of small paws scrabbling along the floor, before I spotted David, who arrived just as I was pouring.
David smiled. It was a spooky expression, flashing his teeth at me, but it was growing on me. “Oh, hey, whatcha making?”
I slid one of the two glasses towards him. “Margaritas.”
David’s eyes went wide, briefly, and flicked towards the table in a panic, then back to the bar’s shelves behind me. “With the…?! Oh! Okay.” The look of relief on his face when he realized I’d picked a cheaper bottle was palpable. “Cabra Furiosa. Great choice, actually.” He nodded towards the glass. “May I?”
“I can’t slide it towards you any harder without it falling off the bar,” I pointed out.
David snorted. He picked it up, sniffed at it, and took a sip. He blinked. “Yeah, shit, that’s actually really good. Do you have any idea how many bartenders manage to fuck up the sugar to acidity ratio? Because it’s most of them. This is a boozy limeade with depth. Well done!”
I blushed a little at the praise, but I was still incredulous that I was somehow intrinsically talented at a skill that I hadn’t even known existed at this time yesterday. “Really? How… how do they fuck this up? It’s mostly three ingredients!”
“I mean…” David began. “Our planned lunch service notwithstanding, we do haute cuisine at the Cropsey Carnival. We try to elevate flavors, dishes, and cocktails. But fucking up the ratios aside, if I’m being aggressively honest? Most bartenders fuck up a margarita by only using two ingredients: tequila and sour mix. And a ‘good’ margarita is when the bartender slips you extra tequila.” He shook his head. “Quantity is not quality.”
I nodded and took a sip of the other glass, the one I’d poured out for myself. He wasn’t wrong. It was difficult and pretentious for an artist to objectively declare their own work as “good”, but subjectively? I truly enjoyed what I had made. It made me happy, and it made me even happier to see that someone else had enjoyed it as well.
As for the drink itself, it blended into a more beautiful harmony than I ever could have dreamed of before I’d come to Earth. All these good but rough components rounding each other out. The twin scents of the fragrant oils from the lime and orange rinds, the zesty sour notes of fresh lime juice, the rich depth and sweetness of the orange liqueur, and through it all, the aged tequila sat, unphased, a deep and primal drumbeat that would keep playing for its own sake, no matter who showed up to jam with it.
“Let’s leave them for a bit, though,” said David. “We’ve got some groceries to unload, and I don’t know about you, but I hate exercising while drunk.”
“Fair,” I said. As we walked outside together, one of the deeper thoughts I’d been mulling over bubbled up. If the Arxur were singular monsters, and the Humans were this… intricate and advanced civilization of social monsters, well, the latter didn’t exactly sound unappealing to me at this point. I wanted to know more about how David had fought the former Peacekeeper with words alone. “Hey,” I said, as we approached the boat, “can you break down your debate with Charmaine a bit for me? I want to understand human dominance rituals a bit more.”
David choked on his own spit. “Whoa. Hang on. Don’t use the word ‘debate’ for that. That was an argument, and even calling it that is being charitable. I’d be fully thrown out of my high school Debate Club for half of the bullshit I said just then.” He shook his head. “Calling that conversation ‘a debate’ is like comparing an Olympic fencing match to a back alley knife fight.”
We were hitting a concentration of topics where my Federation-built translator chip was just saying “Oh absolutely fuck no,” and bailing out on me.
“David,” I said slowly, “I’m really gonna need you to break this down for me, because none of those events you’re using as similes have an uncensored translation in my language. Please tell me more about this Terran tradition of a Back Alley Knife Fight.”
David blanched, and did not immediately respond.

As a reviewer who's been using Chomps Beef Sticks, I can confidently say that they've become my go-to snack for those times when I need a quick energy boost. The original flavor is my favorite, and with its 100 calories, it's a healthier alternative to high-carb and sugary snacks. I appreciate how these beef sticks are made from grass-fed beef without hormones or antibiotics, and are certified Paleo and Gluten-free.
One thing that stood out to me was the texture of the sticks. They're not overly chewy, but they also don't fall apart too easily. The taste is well-balanced, with just a hint of spice to keep things interesting. Plus, each stick packs a hefty 9 to 10 grams of protein, making them a satisfying, filling snack.
However, there are a few minor downsides to Chomps Beef Sticks. Some users have reported inconsistencies in the manufacturing process, with some sticks having a slippery casing that falls apart easily. Additionally, the sticks can be quite dry, which might not appeal to everyone.
In conclusion, Chomps Beef Sticks are a high-quality, nutritious snack that's perfect for those times when you need a quick protein boost. While they might not be everyone's perfect snack due to their dry texture and occasional manufacturing issues, I personally believe that their taste, convenience, and health benefits make them a worthwhile addition to your daily diet.

When it comes to on-the-go snacking, I'm always on the lookout for something quick, healthy, and tasty. That's where Chomps Grass Fed & Finished Venison Jerky Meat Snack Sticks come in. These meat sticks are not only approved by my favorite diet plans (Keto, Paleo, Whole30) but also packed with 9 grams of protein and only 90 calories per stick.
I've been quite the adventurous soul when it comes to Chomps flavors. The Salt & Pepper Venison is by far my favorite, with its rich venison taste that's enhanced by the blend of grass-fed venison and beef seasoning. It's like having a miniature Thanksgiving feast in my pocket!
One thing that really stands out about these jerky sticks is how fresh they taste. Unlike some store-bought jerky that can be quite tough, Chomps jerky is moist and tender, making it incredibly satisfying to eat. Plus, the saltiness and pepperiness are perfectly balanced, providing a nice tang without being overbearing.
On the downside, I do wish there were more variety in flavors. While I love the classics like Salt & Pepper, it would be great to see some spicier options or even some unique international flavor combinations.
All in all, Chomps Grass Fed & Finished Venison Jerky Meat Snack Sticks have quickly become my go-to snack for those days when I need something quick and filling on the go. The natural ingredients and good taste make them a winning combo in my book!

I recently introduced the Home Range Beef Chomper Stick to my furry companion and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer! This tasty treat is made from 100% pure beef sourced from grass-fed animals - no steroids, hormones, or antibiotics here.
What I loved most about this treat is how digestible it is. My doggo usually has a sensitive tummy, but he's been able to enjoy every bite without any issues. Plus, the high protein content and omega fatty acids have made his coat shinier than ever!
Another standout feature is its ability to help clean his teeth. After just a few chews, I noticed that his teeth were already looking whiter and healthier. And best of all, he loves the taste and can't get enough of it!
However, one downside is that it tends to disappear quite quickly. My little buddy can finish an entire stick in under 10 minutes, which means I have to keep a close eye on him while he enjoys his treat.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Home Range Beef Chomper Stick for any dog owners looking for a healthy, delicious option that promotes joint health and keeps their pup's teeth clean. Just remember to supervise your furry friend while they chomp away!

🔗Tasty, All-Natural Beef Tendersticks

I recently purchased Crumps Naturals Beef Tendersticks for my beloved Golden Retriever, Max. From what I've heard, they're quite popular among pet owners. Now, I can see why!
First, these tender sticks are made from 100% natural, Canadian beef. That's right, it's just pure, unprocessed meat, free of any additives or preservatives. I feel good about providing Max with such a wholesome treat. Plus, they're thin and easy to break, making them perfect for training or just an occasional snack. I even carry some in my pocket for when we're out on walks or going to the park.
One thing I noticed is that due to the thinness of these strips, they tend to break into sharp, pointed pieces. Not the most appealing thing. However, by breaking the treat into smaller bits, this issue doesn't really affect us much. I just have to be more cautious when I'm giving them to Max.
Additionally, the aroma of the beef lingers on these treats. Not overpowering or anything, but Max definitely catches a whiff and comes running for them. I'm guessing that's a good sign.
Also, the size of these sticks is ideal for any size dog, like Max, who loves to munch on them. Plus, their long shelf life also plays a critical role, especially if you tend to buy treats in bulk like I do.
In conclusion, while there are some minor concerns about the sharpness of the pieces, overall, Crumps Naturals Beef Tendersticks have proven to be a great treat for Max. He enjoys the taste, and I like the fact that it's a natural and wholesome product.
But remember, each dog has its own taste and preferences, just like humans! So while these treats might be perfect for Max, your furry friend might prefer something else. It's all about trial and error, and finding what truly makes your pet's tail wag!

I recently introduced Ruffin' It's Chomp'ems Beef Jerky to my canine companion, and it's been a game-changer! This homemade-style beef jerky is the perfect snack for my buddy, who couldn't be more enthusiastic about them. Made with just one ingredient - real beef - these treats are packed with natural protein and no grains or fillers.
Since we've been using these treats, I've noticed a considerable increase in my dog's energy levels, and they seem to be enjoying the taste thoroughly. The best part is that there are no artificial colors, flavors, or added preservatives, making it a guilt-free reward for my lovable pet.
There is one downside that I must mention - the smell. While my dog loves the aroma, it can be quite overpowering for me and others around. It's essential to be cautious when handling these treats, as they may leave stains on fabrics or carpets due to their greasiness.
Overall, I highly recommend Ruffin' It's Chomp'ems Beef Jerky for any dog owner looking for a high-protein, natural, and delicious treat. Just be prepared for the potent smell that comes with it!

🔗Savory Venison Snack Stick by Chomps

I can personally vouch for the Chomps Venison Stick, Salt & Pepper, Mild - it's my go-to snack when I need something satisfyingly meaty without compromising on quality ingredients. The key to the Chomps' magic is that they're made from venison raised without hormones or antibiotics - that's some serious dedication to clean eating!
One of the things that really stands out about these snack sticks is the savory blend of spices. They give the venison a delicious flavor and a mild kick that keeps me reaching for more. Plus, with 9 g of protein packed into just 100 calories, it keeps me full and energized throughout the day.
However, there are a few cons to note. Some users have reported a slightly greasier texture compared to other similar products. Additionally, the presence of "spray-dried celery powder" as a flavoring and preservative agent might be a concern for those trying to avoid artificial additives.
Nevertheless, the overall reception of the Chomps Venison Stick has been overwhelmingly positive. People seem to love the unique venison flavor, especially when paired with the salt and pepper seasoning. Plus, the product claims to be gluten-free, Paleo-certified, and Whole30 approved, which appeals to a wide range of dietary preferences.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a convenient and tasty protein source that doesn't skimp on quality ingredients, the Chomps Venison Stick might just be what you're looking for. But keep an eye on those artificial additives, as they might not be everyone's cup of tea.

🔗Chomps Original Gluten-Free Beef Sticks: A Healthy, Paleo-Approved Snack

https://preview.redd.it/iswzb9b05k1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c4ed5815f537896783bf302a2b470b8e04b1896
I recently came across Chomps Original Beef Sticks while searching for a healthy, on-the-go snack option. As someone who is always on the lookout for nutritious snacks that can be easily carried around, these beef sticks became an instant favorite. The packaging is simple and easy to open, and the sticks themselves are conveniently wrapped, making them perfect for tossing in a bag or pocket.
What sets Chomps apart from other jerkies on the market is their commitment to quality ingredients. The Original Beef Sticks contain 9g-10g of protein per stick, with no added sugar, making them a great choice for those following a Paleo or Whole30 diet. Additionally, these beef sticks are certified Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Verified, and Whole30 Approved, making them suitable for a wide range of dietary preferences and restrictions.
In terms of taste, the Original Beef Sticks have a mild flavor with a nice balance of savory and smoky notes. The texture is satisfyingly chewy without being too tough, and they are surprisingly filling for such a small snack. I've found that these beef sticks are an excellent option for post-workout refueling, as well as for staving off hunger during long days at the office.
However, one potential downside to Chomps Original Beef Sticks is their relatively high price point compared to other jerky options. At $2.49 per stick (or about $30 for a case of 12), these beef sticks may not be the most cost-effective option for those on a tight budget. Nevertheless, I believe that the high quality of the ingredients and the overall satisfaction provided by these snacks make them worth the investment.
Another point worth mentioning is that some users have reported inconsistencies in the quality and taste of the beef sticks over time. While the majority of reviews for these products are overwhelmingly positive, a small number of customers have experienced issues such as mold or off-flavors. This may be a concern for some purchasers, but it's worth noting that Chomps does offer a customer satisfaction guarantee, so those who experience issues can reach out to the company for assistance.
In conclusion, Chomps Original Beef Sticks are an excellent option for anyone in search of a high-quality, nutritious snack that can be easily consumed on the go. While the price may be somewhat higher than other jerky options, the benefits of the clean ingredient list and satisfying taste make these beef sticks a worthwhile investment for many customers. If you're looking to try a new snack that won't compromise your dietary goals, I would highly recommend giving Chomps Original Beef Sticks a chance.

Making Healthier Snack Choices with Chomps Beef Sticks"
Last week, I decided to clean up my snacking habits and began searching for healthier options. That's when I stumbled upon Chomps - Beef Sticks Italian Style. I was intrigued by their claims of being gluten free, non-GMO verified, and packed with a nutritional punch of 9g-10g protein per stick. Being an avid meat lover, I was excited to give them a try.
The first thing that caught my attention was the packaging. It was straightforward and easy to open, which is a huge plus when you're hungry and just want to sink your teeth into something tasty. The beef sticks themselves were a surprisingly good size, making them perfect for satisfying those mid-morning or afternoon cravings.
As for the taste, I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The Italian Style beef sticks had a rich, savory flavor that was far from boring. I could taste the quality of the grass-fed beef used in their creation, and the spices added just the right amount of kick.
However, there was one issue that struck me as slightly off-putting: the texture. It wasn't chewy or too tough, but it did have a slightly grainy feel to it. This might not bother some people, but for me, it was a minor drawback when comparing Chomps to other jerky products I've tried in the past.
In terms of nutrition, Chomps hits the mark. With 60-90 calories and 0g sugar, these beef sticks are a guilt-free snack choice that won't derail your diet goals. They're also low in carbs, which is great for anyone following a keto or low-carb lifestyle.
All in all, Chomps - Beef Sticks Italian Style are a solid choice for anyone looking to incorporate healthier snacks into their routine. While they may not be perfect in every way, their high-quality ingredients, impressive nutritional profile, and delicious taste make them a worthwhile addition to your snack arsenal. As someone who's always on the go, having a healthy and tasty snack option has been a game-changer for me. That's where Chomps Grass-Fed and Free Range Beef & Turkey Sticks come into play. Their variety pack offers a delicious medley of flavors, each packed with 9-10g of protein and under 100 calories, making them an ideal choice for people following keto, paleo, or Whole30 diets.
I tried the Original Beef, Jalapeno Beef, Italian Beef, Original Turkey, Pepperoni Turkey, and Venison sticks. Each stick had a distinct flavor profile that was absolutely delightful - it's hard to pick a favorite! As someone who is particular about textures, I was pleased with the balance between tenderness and bite.
One thing that really stood out to me was the clean label. Chomps takes the quality of their ingredients very seriously, which is evident in their allergen-friendly status. There are no artificial preservatives, nitrates, MSG, or fillers in these sticks, just real meat for an authentic taste.
However, I wish there was more variety in the size offering. Sometimes, I prefer smaller snacks that are easy to throw in a bag or lunchbox. Despite this, I am thoroughly satisfied with the Chomps Variety Trial Pack and look forward to trying more flavors in the future.
In summary, if you're looking for a yummy and nutritious snack that can go anywhere with you, Chomps Grass-Fed and Free Range Beef & Turkey Sticks are definitely worth trying. Just be prepared to become addicted to their delicious flavors!

I've been using Chomps Mini Grass-Fed Original Beef Sticks for quite some time now and they've become a staple in my diet. These little jerky sticks are the perfect blend of savory and smoky, with just a hint of spice that keeps me coming back for more. The taste profile reminds me of those backyard barbecues I used to love as a kid, just condensed into a convenient, portable snack!
One of the things that sets these beef sticks apart from the rest is the quality of the ingredients. The meat is sourced from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cows, which provides a more sustainable option than traditional feedlots. Plus, they're made without any added sugars, fillers, or artificial preservatives, making them an ideal choice for anyone on a keto or Whole30 diet.
However, not everything about these snacks is perfect. Some users have reported issues with inconsistency in taste and texture, as well as a higher-than-average price point that might deter some potential customers. Despite these minor drawbacks, I still highly recommend giving Chomps Mini Grass-Fed Original Beef Sticks a try - they might just become your go-to snack like they have for me!

Mmm, these Chomps Original Beef Jerky Snack Sticks are perfect for on-the-go protein. I first discovered these during a hike when my energy levels were dipping. The slightly smoky, slightly spicy flavor was just what I needed to power through the rest of my adventure.
One of the things that I love most about these sticks is the use of grass-fed, grass-finished beef. I feel good knowing that I'm not only getting a delicious snack but also one that is sustainable and ethically sourced. Plus, with no sugar and 9-10g of protein, it's a guilt-free choice.
However, I will admit that the texture took some getting used to. The sticks are slightly drier than what I'm accustomed to in traditional jerky, but this also means they're less messy and perfect for tossing into my bag for a mid-day snack.
The convenience factor is another bonus. Each stick is small enough to pack away yet substantial enough to quell hunger pangs. And with no need for refrigeration, they're ideal for tossing into my gym bag or keeping in my car for those unexpected hunger cravings.
In terms of taste, the Original flavor provides a nice balance of smoky and spicy, while other flavors like Jalapeño and Habanero offer a more pronounced heat. It's also worth mentioning that these are Whole30 approved and certified Paleo, making them accessible to a wide variety of dietary preferences.
Overall, I'm very impressed with Chomps Original Beef Jerky Snack Sticks. They provide a satisfying, protein-rich snack that doesn't sacrifice taste or convenience. If you're looking for a quick and tasty way to refuel during your busy day, I highly recommend giving these a try.

🔗Royal Consumer 500DX Cash Register for Small Business

https://preview.redd.it/szdjzfwirj1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a30acbd7b3d3bb4be00285a4f65674875a125a72
As a small business owner, I can attest that the Royal 500DX Cash Register has been an absolute game-changer for me. The dual LCD displays provide clear visibility for both the clerk and the customer, making transactions seamless and efficient.
One of the standout features is its capacity to handle up to 2,000 employees, which is more than adequate for a small to medium-sized business. Additionally, the unlimited messaging capability ensures that you won't miss any important announcements or updates. However, the product does feel a bit flimsy due to its predominantly plastic design, which might concern those who prefer a sturdier build.
Another fantastic aspect of this cash register is the 999 Price Look-Ups, allowing for quick processing of transactions. Programming four different tax rates also makes the setup process incredibly straightforward. On the downside, the impact printer, although functional, occasionally feels outdated compared to more advanced models.
Overall, the Royal 500DX Cash Register has proven to be a reliable and user-friendly addition to my small business. Its features cater to my daily needs and have undoubtedly contributed to the efficiency and success of my operations.

🔗Sharp XE-A102 Compact Electronic Cash Register with LED Display

I have been using the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register for a start-up retail business, and it's been a reliable and efficient partner. The compact design allows it to fit easily in our small store, and the bright LED display makes it easy for us and our customers to see the transaction details. The 8 departments feature helps us organize our inventory, and the 80 PLU/Items capacity allows us to input all our products without issues.
One of the standout features of this cash register is its ability to accept different payment methods like cash, cheque, and credit card, which has made it easy for us to cater to our customers' preferred payment options. Additionally, the time and date display feature ensures that our transactions are accurate and timely.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to the Sharp XE-A102. It can be a little noisy and slow compared to some other cash registers, which may be an issue during peak hours when we need to serve customers quickly. Moreover, the instructions provided are quite small, making them difficult to read and follow.
Overall, the Sharp XE-A102 Electronic Cash Register has been an excellent addition to our start-up retail business. Its compact design, 58 mm wide reliable printing, and ability to accept multiple payment methods make it a valuable tool for any small retailer. While it may have a few minor issues, the majority of users, including myself, are satisfied with its performance and recommend it to others.

🔗Heavy-Duty Cash Register with Alpha Keyboard and LCD Display

https://preview.redd.it/5nazzg1jrj1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a2c43a2769b8e4018fa182fa42498956b531f0a

As an avid user of cash registers in my grocery store, I recently discovered the Royal Alpha 1100ml Cash Register, and my experience has been quite satisfactory. This heavy-duty register is perfect for my high-traffic establishment, offering a reliable and swift cash management system that I can always depend on.
The first thing that caught my eye about this cash register was its single fast and quiet alphanumeric thermal printer, capable of handling over 1 million lines. It's been able to keep up with the constant rush of customers, making it a reliable addition to my store.
The large 10-line LCD user display and alpha keyboard ensure easy programming, which was a breeze, even for a beginner like me. The SD Card slot is another excellent feature, enabling efficient accounting data transfers to a PC, a necessity for any modern business.
However, I will say that the software included with the register can be a bit flaky at times. While it is supposed to read the x and z reports that the machine puts on the sd card, I sometimes find myself having to use the sd card to transfer report data manually. Additionally, getting in touch with their tech support doesn't seem to be very helpful, as they often provide no real technical assistance.
Despite these minor issues, the Royal Alpha 1100ml Cash Register has been a solid addition to my store. Its heavy-duty locking cash drawer with four slot bill and removable five slot coin tray, along with its automatic tax computation, has made managing funds and keeping track of sales much easier for me. If you're in need of a reliable cash register for your business, I'd highly recommend giving this one a try.

🔗Royal 435dx Cash Register with 16 Department Capability and 8 Clerks

https://preview.redd.it/9o89xzwjrj1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62e70f459bd6962370dd4dc12c05c99acde28282
As a small business owner, I can attest to the convenience of the Royal 435dX Electronic Cash Register in my daily operations. Its 16 departments and 800 PLU's ensure an efficient flow of transactions, while the 8 clerk capacity and 4 tax rates enable seamless management, even for those serving in various locations or catering to international clientele.
One of the highlights of this cash register is the front and rear LCD displays, allowing both the clerk and customer to see each transaction clearly. The memory protection with backup batteries provides added security to safeguard data in case of a power outage, a particularly valuable feature for businesses operating in areas with unpredictable power supply.
However, a minor con would be the single station 57mm impact printer, which could limit the pace of transactions during peak rush hours. Also, the locking cash drawer tends to be a bit cumbersome, requiring more time than necessary to retrieve and return change.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Royal 435dX Electronic Cash Register has significantly improved my business operations, allowing me to keep track of transactions efficiently, even during peak hours. I would recommend this cash register to other small business owners looking for a reliable and feature-rich option that delivers exceptional performance at an affordable price point.

🔗Refurbished Sharp XE-A106 Sleek Microban Cash Register

https://preview.redd.it/5tn0pzwjrj1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b382e52bbb8bd197bb1548deb1b45b4536795d0
I recently got my hands on the Sharp XE-A106 Cash Register and boy, am I impressed! This refurbished gem has been a game-changer in managing sales at my small business.
The first thing that caught my eye was the Microban antimicrobial keys. It's not just about style; it's about hygiene too! The large LED screen is another feature that I absolutely adore. With one line for eight digits, it's so easy to keep track of prices and sales.
The drum printing on standard 2-1/4" plain paper roll is fast and quiet, making it perfect for my retail store. Plus, with functions like eight preprogrammed departments, 80 price lookups, four clerk numbers, auto-tax system, and flash reporting, managing sales has never been easier.
But wait, there's more! The locking cash drawer with four-slot bill compartments, five-slot removable coin tray, and a media slot for quick deposit of checks and bills is just brilliant. Not to forget the easy programming that took me under an hour to set up.
However, nothing's perfect. The one downside I noticed was the slow printing speed. Also, you can't turn off the receipt printer for a "no sale" option.
All in all, the Sharp XE-A106 Cash Register is a reliable workhorse for any small business. Despite the few drawbacks, it's worth every penny. If you're in the market for a cash register, this should definitely be on your list!

I recently had the pleasure of adding the Kyocera Revolution 5.5" Ceramic Santoku Knife in a stunning blue hue to my kitchen arsenal, and it has completely changed the game for me. The first thing I noticed was how perfectly balanced it felt in my hand, making it easy to maneuver and reducing fatigue during those endless chopping sessions.
One of the features that truly stood out to me was the ceramic blade, which reportedly stays sharp 10 times longer than steel blades. I've certainly noticed a difference – not only in the effortless slicing, dicing, and mincing of fruits and vegetables, but also in the seamless transition from chopping meats to finely chopping herbs.
The ergonomic handle offers a comfortable grip, adding to the overall ease of use, and the vivid color options provide a visual appeal that makes it stand out amongst my other kitchen tools. There's no denying that the Kyocera Revolution 5.5" Ceramic Santoku Knife is more than just a kitchen tool – it's an essential and beautiful addition to my daily culinary routine.

https://preview.redd.it/lmuclxyvmi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70709813f967b59b2ad0e499e0f1c51fbd80a43f
As someone who has been using the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife in my daily life, I must say that it has been a game changer. Its ergonomic handle feels comfortable in my hand, providing precise control as I slice through fruits, vegetables, and even some small meats.
What stood out to me the most is the ceramic blade's ability to stay sharp for an incredibly long time, way more than any steel blade I've ever used. It really makes a difference when I'm preparing my meals, as I don't have to spend time honing my knife skills and wasting precious time.
However, I must mention that the knife can be quite brittle, as the users in the reviews suggested. So it's essential to handle it with care, especially when storing it in a drawer. Also, it's not a great tool for cutting boneless meat or fish, as its blade isn't thin or agile enough.
But overall, I've been very pleased with the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife. It's perfect for any chef or home cook, and it has definitely improved my kitchen experience. Plus, it's quite light, which reduces fatigue during those repetitive cutting tasks. It's a worthwhile investment, provided you're attentive to its fragility.

🔗Rapala Ceramic Utility: Lightweight, Corrosion-Resistant Knife with Soft Grip Handle

https://preview.redd.it/7awxlegwmi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ca5782b5c621e0fd607c3f93713b18c35ea348f
The Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife has been a game changer in my daily life. The super-sharp, super-tough ceramic blade is surprisingly lighter than I expected, making it a perfect companion when I'm on the move. What I loved the most was its resistance to corrosion – it's like it's indestructible! But the real icing on the cake was the molded soft grip handle. It felt incredibly comfortable to hold, and it made using the knife a pleasant experience.
One thing I noticed was that the compression sheath could be a bit tricky to use at first. It took some extra effort to make it hold tight for safe storage and transportation. However, once I figured it out, I appreciated the added security it provided.
Overall, the Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife 4 inch Black RCUKB4 has been a reliable and efficient tool in my daily routine. And with its sharpness, durability, and easy gripping handle, it's hard not to love it!

I've had the pleasure of using Kyocera's Ceramic Outdoor Camp Kitchen Knife and Sheath Set, and let me tell you, it has been quite the experience. The knife is perfect for my outdoor adventures, as it's durable, rust-proof, and resistant to germs and acids.
One of the most impressive features of this knife is its ultra-sharp, pure advanced ceramic blade. It's incredibly lightweight and easy to clean, which is exactly what I need when I'm out in the wild. And the ergonomic soft grip handle? It provides a comfortable, highly controlled grip, making it a pleasure to use.
The heavy nylon sheath with the Velcro strap is a nice addition, too. It keeps the knife safe and secure, and the belt loop makes it easy for me to access it whenever I need it. The fact that this product is made from Kyocera's proprietary zirconia material is an extra bonus, as it guarantees exceptional quality and beauty.
While this knife is ideal for camping, fishing, hiking, and picnics, I would avoid using it on hard foods or objects. But overall, I've been really happy with this set and would definitely recommend it to those who love spending time in the great outdoors.

As a reviewer, I've been using this Kyocera Revolution ceramic 3-inch paring knife for a few weeks now, and I must say, it has been quite an experience. The knife is incredibly sharp, making it perfect for intricate tasks like trimming, peeling, and garnishing. Its lightweight design, combined with the ultra-sharp ceramic blades, makes it easy to maneuver and a joy to use in the kitchen.
However, I have encountered a minor drawback - the blade is much harder to sharpen than I'm used to, requiring a bit more patience and effort than steel knives I've used in the past. Nevertheless, I appreciate that ceramic blades maintain their edge up to 10 times longer than steel blades, and the fact that they won't brown food, rust, or be resistant to acids.
Overall, using this Kyocera 3-inch ceramic paring knife has been a great experience, and I've grown to love this new addition to my kitchen. Its sleek design, sharp blade, and ease of use have made it a staple in my daily cooking routine.

As someone who's always on the go, I found the SHOCFR Shomer-Tec Ceramic Folding Razor Knife to be an essential addition to my everyday carry. This little guy is so compact, fitting perfectly into my pockets without taking up too much space. The 1" black finish ceramic blade is surprisingly sharp, making it incredibly useful for various tasks like cutting rope or opening packages. I appreciate the sleek black synthetic handle, which feels sturdy and comfortable in my hand.
While I'm a big fan of this pocket knife, there were a couple of drawbacks. The first thing I noticed was how easily the blade would snap shut. It happened a few times when I accidentally pressed it against something hard. Furthermore, the fact that it's made in China makes me a bit skeptical about its long-term durability.
Overall, the SHOCFR Shomer-Tec Ceramic Folding Razor Knife was a handy tool to have with me. Its compact size and sharp blade made it perfect for everyday use. However, its low-quality materials and tendency to snap shut may be a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.

I recently started using the Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife, and let me tell you, it's impressive. The blade is incredibly sharp right out of the box - twice as sharp as a steel blade, as advertised! And not only that, it stays sharp for much longer, thanks to its fantastic edge retention - 15 times better than steel.
As someone who frequently spends time outdoors, I love the lightweight and non-porous construction; it doesn't rust or corrode. Plus, the handle is a game-changer. The molded soft-grip design feels comfortable in my hand, even during long fishing trips.
The Open-Design Compression Sheath is a thoughtful addition too, ensuring safe storage and transport. The only downside I've noticed so far is that, while the knife itself is fantastic, the sheath that comes with it could use some improvement. Thankfully, it hasn't been a dealbreaker for me.
Overall, I highly recommend this Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife. Its features make it an excellent choice for cutting chores and fishing trips alike.

The Kyocera Revolution 4.5" Ceramic Utility Knife is a game-changer for those seeking precision in the kitchen. With a ceramic blade that's 50% harder than metal and 10 times sharper than average knives, this knife makes quick work of slicing through fruits, veggies, and boneless meats.
The slip-resistant, ergonomic handle is comfortable and reduces fatigue during extended cutting tasks. Best of all, the ceramic blade doesn't absorb food elements, requiring only a quick rinse for easy cleanup.
This knife truly earns its place in any kitchen, becoming a trusted go-to tool for home cooks and seasoned chefs alike.

I recently started using the Starfrit Ceramic Chef Knife and I must say, it's a game-changer in the kitchen. This 6-inch blade is incredibly sharp and stays that way up to 10 times longer than a steel blade, making cutting tasks a breeze. The ergonomic design of the knife, with its soft grip handle, is definitely a plus.
I found that this knife really stands out when it comes to cutting fruits, vegetables, and boneless meats. One time, I even used it for Thanksgiving, preparing an assortment of veggies for a big dinner, and it handled the task flawlessly. The smooth texture of the handle also allows for a comfortable grip.
However, I did notice a downside—the blade is incredibly sharp, which means you have to be very careful while handling it. It's also worth mentioning that these ceramic knives are not suitable for carving, boning, or any application that requires flexing or twisting. They should only be used with plastic or wooden cutting boards.
So far, I've been really happy with the Starfrit Ceramic Chef Knife, but I'm keeping an eye on the durability of the handle. I hope it holds up well, because I truly love using this knife in my daily life. If you're into ceramic knives, this one is definitely worth the investment.

The ceramic blade really does last significantly longer than steel blades and stays sharp for ages. Plus, it prevents any metallic taste or unwanted reactions with my food.
The pakkawood handle fits perfectly in my hand, making cuts effortless and ergonomic. The knife is surprisingly lightweight compared to steel models, reducing strain during long cutting activities. However, it's always wise to avoid hard surfaces like marble when using the knife.
It's important to remember to hand wash it after use and to keep it away from the dishwasher. Overall, the Kyocera LTD Ceramic Utility Knife has easily become a go-to tool in my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, long-lasting cutting utensil.

🔗Kyocera Ceramic Knife Set: Santoku Knife and Peeler

As someone who loves to cook, I've had the pleasure of trying out the Kyocera Ceramic Blue knife and peeler set. I was immediately drawn to the unique blue handle, which not only looked stylish in my kitchen but also added a touch of elegance to my cooking process.
The Santoku knife, with its 14cm blade, was a delight to work with. Its ergonomic design allowed for a comfortable grip, and the ceramic material made it incredibly durable and easy to maintain. However, the peeler, with its 4cm blade, was a bit harder to work with. While it was efficient in removing the skin, it took a bit more effort to use than I anticipated.
Despite this minor drawback, the overall experience was fantastic. The Kyocera Ceramic Blue knife and peeler set has become a staple in my kitchen, and I've received countless compliments on its unique design and functionality. If you're looking for a versatile and stylish set of knives, this one is definitely worth considering.

Recently, I stumbled upon Kyocera's Ceramic Utility Knife & Y-Peeler Set, and I couldn't resist giving it a try. The set comes with two essential, sharp tools for the kitchen - a 4.5-inch utility knife and a Y-peeler. The utility knife features a ceramic blade made from Kyocera's proprietary zirconia material, a remarkable high-tech material known for its superior edge retention. The dense and smooth blade surface allows for absolutely precise cuts.
The Y-peeler, on the other hand, has a sharp, flexible ceramic blade with outstanding corrosion resistance. This makes it perfect for any repetitive peeling tasks, and it's no wonder I've been using it for various fruits and vegetables.
What stood out for me was the ergonomic handle and the ultra-lightweight design of the utility knife. This feature makes the knife incredibly easy to handle, even for extended periods. However, one downside I noticed is that the white ceramic blade tends to discolor over time, especially with certain food items. That aside, washing it immediately after use helps to minimize this issue.
In summary, Kyocera's Ceramic Utility Knife & Y-Peeler Set offers the perfect blend of sharpness, flexibility, and durability, making it an essential addition to any kitchen. While it may have some negative aspects, overall, it's a valuable investment for any food enthusiast.

🔗Lightweight and Durable Ceramic Pocket Knife for Comfortable Cutting

I recently tried the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife Red, and I must say, it's a game-changer in the kitchen. While the box only contains one item, the knife itself is an impressive piece of engineering. The ergonomics are top-notch, with a comfortable grip that makes the slicing process more controlled and enjoyable.
One key feature that stood out to me is the blade's incredible edge retention. It retains its sharpness ten times longer than steel knives, which is a massive plus for anyone who values the lasting quality of their tools. Moreover, I appreciate how the ceramic material provides a pure and healthy alternative to steel knives, as it doesn't transfer metal ions to food or corrode due to acids or oils. It also never rusts, which is a great bonus.
The Kyocera knife is incredibly lightweight, reducing fatigue when in use, especially during long cutting tasks. While the blade may be half the weight of an equivalent steel knife, it feels like an extension of your hand.
However, there's one downside to this knife—handle with care. The ceramic blade is prone to chipping if not handled correctly. Also, it might be a bit delicate to use for cutting large items or anything that requires a lot of force.
Overall, the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife Red is a well-made, easy-to-use tool that boasts impressive edge retention, a comfortable grip, and a visually appealing design. It's a worthy addition to any kitchen, and I can't wait to showcase its capabilities to my friends and family.

With their durability, corrosion resistance, and sharpness, these knives have become increasingly popular among enthusiasts. Ceramic pocket knives are made of high-quality ceramic blades and stainless steel handles. The blade material, Zirconium Oxide, is known for its hardness, sharpness, and resistance to corrosion. This makes the knife ideal for various cutting tasks, including slicing, chopping, and skinning. The stainless steel handle provides a comfortable grip and durability, while the pocket clip allows easy carrying.

Safety Features

Safety is essential when choosing a pocket knife. Look for ceramic pocket knives with locking mechanisms that secure the blade in place when not in use. This will prevent accidental openings and keep you safe from injuries. Additionally, check for slip-resistant handles to ensure a secure grip even in wet or slippery conditions.

Size and Portability

Consider the size and weight of the ceramic pocket knife when choosing one. A smaller and lighter knife is more convenient for everyday carry, while a larger knife may offer more cutting power. However, make sure the size is comfortable for you to handle and store in your pocket or backpack.

Ease of Maintenance

Ceramic pocket knives are easy to maintain and require minimal care. To keep your knife in top condition, clean it regularly and sharpen it with a honing stone or ceramic rod as needed. Also, store the knife in a protective case or sheath to prevent damage and ensure its longevity.

Brand Reputation and Reviews

When purchasing a ceramic pocket knife, always consider the reputation of the brand and the reviews from other users. A well-established brand with a long history of producing high-quality knives is likely to provide you with a reliable and durable product. https://preview.redd.it/1rljezc5ni1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f42884d603f38ac9876934f5a891f83627a8412

What are the advantages of using a ceramic pocket knife?

  • Harder and sharper blades
  • Non-rusting and non-corrosive material
  • Lightweight and compact for easy portability
  • Longer edge retention compared to steel knives

Are ceramic pocket knives easy to use?

Yes, ceramic pocket knives are easy to use. They have a natural grip that allows for comfortable handling. Additionally, their lightweight design reduces strain on the hand during prolonged use. However, be cautious when cutting hard materials as they may become brittle due to the thinness of the blade.

Can I resharpen a ceramic pocket knife?

While ceramic pocket knives are not designed for resharpening like steel knives, there are specialized sharpening tools available specifically for ceramic blades. However, the process may be challenging and the blade's lifespan will still be limited. In most cases, it's more cost-effective to simply replace the blade when it becomes dull.

Do ceramic pocket knives require any special care?

  • Cannot be resharpened like steel knives
  • May require specialized sharpening tools

2024.05.20 03:45 Poseidon___ Erinnean Rabbits

Log 1 8:34 UST AM, June 24th, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 1. Today is June 24th, 2249 and the time is 8:34 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Site name TBD.
Following the collection of Exploration Drone 96, I have confirmed that Arribo IV contains large deposits of velocitium via manual geophysical surveying. Results indicate that the total amount of ore contained in this location is estimated to be 3.2e6 kilograms. This notably surpasses that of sites Delta-Rho and Alpha-Tau, which are currently responsible for 17% of the total velocitium ore processed by the Ulfuric Corporation. Conditions ground side are less than optimal, with Arribo IV possessing a surface gravity of 1.4G. Additionally, Arribo IV has produced complex multicellular life. The site of ore extraction is somewhat vegetated and native wildlife is abundant, requiring the establishment of a perimeter and regular inspections of extraction equipment. All of the above will increase the construction and maintenance costs of this site, but due to the sheer amount of raw velocitium and breathable atmosphere I officially recommend that production here be established.

Log 2 2:20 AM, August 3rd, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 2. Today is August 3rd, 2249 and the time is 2:20 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
Extraction of velocitium ore from what is now designated site Sigma-Phi has been approved. I await the delivery of the equipment necessary to begin extraction. A perimeter has begun to be established since I submitted my recommendation for site Sigma-Phi, although it is progressing slowly. The regulations of the Bureau of Biosphere Protection mandate that each organism within the perimeter must be captured, cataloged, and released outside of the perimeter before extraction can begin. The native wildlife continues to elude me, and I have yet to obtain a sample of any animal larger than a Raltsian rat. My daughter would love the creature I have named an "Erinnean Rabbit". An analog at best, but the buck teeth, large ears, and hopping remind me of a rabbit, even if it seems to have feathers instead of fur. This organism could be promising for breeding and selling as a pet.

Log 3 1:00 PM, October 15th, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 3. Today is October 15th, 2249 and the time is 1:00 PM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
Following the reprimand from my supervisor, I have ceased 'performing the job of a Xenobreeder' in addition to my duties as a Xenogeologist. There shall be no more mention of the species designated A-IV-Lepoaridae-I, previously called an Erinnean Rabbit, unless it concerns the establishment of the perimeter. The Erinnean Rabbit is one of the 76% of organisms that have been captured and re-released outside of the perimeter. None are being held within the habitation module provided to me by the Ulfuric Corporation.
The equipment to begin extraction is slated to arrive in one week, though assembly will have to wait until the BBP regulations are satisfied. Various plant analog species are currently being held to observe their proliferation methods, to prevent more from potentially entering the perimeter once extraction has begun, attracting the Erinnean Rabbits which feed upon some of them. Current projections predict that equipment setup will be able to begin in three weeks.

Log 4 10:17 AM, October 22nd, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 4. Today is October 22nd, 2249 and the time is 10:17 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
The extraction equipment has arrived. A recent, unintentional incident has occurred which corrupted footage of the interior of the habitation module. I do not consent to any entity that obtains these text logs to read them aloud or utilize text-to-speech software to monetize these text logs unless explicitly permitted by myself, Clancy Marato. This is per Section 3.1.9.a.v of the United Stars Constitution, which states that a being's personal experiences are owned by the being that experienced them and no other.

Log 5 12:00 PM, October 23rd, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 5. Today is October 23rd, 2249 and the time is 12:00 PM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
The unintentional incident referred to in Log 4 was due to percussive trauma as a result of an Erinnean Rabbit impacting a camera at high velocity. The Erinnean Rabbit was within the habitation module in the process of relocating it outside the perimeter.

Log 6 11:54 AM, December 1st, 2249
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 6. Today is October 23rd, 2249 and the time is 12:54 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
All organisms have been relocated outside of the perimeter, in accordance with BBP regulations. equipment assembly will commence tomorrow. There are no Erinnean Rabbits within the habitation module. Yes, my daughter's name is Erin. No, there will be no further delays in the extraction of the velocitium ore.

Log 7 2:00 PM, January 10th, 2250
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 7. Today is January 10th, 2250 and the time is 2:00 PM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
All extraction equipment has been assembled and the extraction of velocitium ore has begun. The current rate of extraction is 85 kg per 24 standard hours. This production rate is 23% slower than average, owing to the 1.4G experienced on the surface. This marks the end of my stay on Arribo IV, as I have observed no issues with the automated production and orbital delivery systems over the past two weeks. I submit my official request for a retrieval drone to be sent to Arribo IV. Despite the physical labor of capturing the organisms and the 1.4G experienced on the surface, I have not gained or lost a statistically relevant amount of mass. Therefore, there should be no change in the amount of fuel necessary for the journey between my home station and Arribo IV.
Log 8 10:00 AM, February 13th, 2250
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 8. Today is February 13th, 2250 and the time is 10:00 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
The retrieval drone has arrived. No issues with production and orbital delivery have been observed, other than the extraction rate slowing to 80 kg per 24 standard hours. I, and only I, now depart Arribo IV. Nothing will enter the retrieval drone aside from myself and the standard retrieval suit I was provided with.

Log 9 8:00 AM, April 5th, 2251
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 9. Today is April 5th, 2251 and the time is 8:00 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
It has been 416 universal standard days since I was last on Arribo IV. There are no issues with production or orbital delivery. Erin greatly enjoys the "rabbits" I named after her. How she acquired one I will not divulge. I have used my personal ship for this trip, and hereby release Ulfuric Corporation from the responsibility of any travel expenses incurred as stated in my employee contract. It was quicker to just get here myself.
Log 10 8:00 AM, May 7th, 2252
Surveyor Clancy Marato, Arribo IV Log 10. Today is May 7th, 2252 and the time is 8:00 AM Universal Standard Time. The location is Arribo IV, coordinates 33° North, 45° East. Ulfuric Corporation Velocitium Extraction Site Sigma-Phi.
It has been 399 universal standard days since I was last on Arrubo IV. Again, I have utilized my personal vehicle for travel due to expediency and no other reason. I hereby release Ulfuric Corporation from its responsibility for travel expenses as outlined in my contract. There are no issues with production or orbital delivery, and I recommend that a freight drone is sent to collect the velocitium ore sitting at the storage site in orbit.
Additionally, I hereby tender my resignation to the Ulfuric Corporation. My further employment is unnecessary due to the success of the pet shop I have opened. Erin is very happy her Dad will not be going on any more long trips, and Erinnean Rabbits both breed quickly and fetch a high price. My wife was very interested in another species native to Arribo IV, which as directed I did not mention in any of my logs. I named it the Tessic Cat.

For further contact, you can reach me at [clancy@maratopets.gal](mailto:clancy@maratopets.gal).
Upending this career is one of the best decisions I've made.
Concerningly, the BPP seems to believe that the animals native to Arribo IV are endangered.
Keep that information in mind if more extractors are to be placed on Arribo IV.
Yes, the Tessic cats are surprisingly tame for an undomesticated animal.
Occasionally they can get into mischief though.
Under no circumstances may Greg Smith be allowed to purchase an animal from Marato Pets, as clearly, he has no respect for 'xenobreeders'. I want him to know that.

Professionally,
Clancy Marato

Over the years I’ve exfoliated, tried salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, aqua glycolic, alpha hydroxy, SPF 100 daily (not all at the same time, of course). The acne scars are mild, but under certain lighting the shadows show up. Please tell me I have a few more options left before I consider laser.

2024.05.19 19:32 Particular_Ad589 Is this Electrolyte tablet any good or should I toss it?

Hey everyone, new here - getting ready to start Keto soon and I've ordered these electrolyte tablets from a popular UK supplement brands- Little did I know they actually changed their product but did not advertise any of the changes online - I ordered the following : (sorry picture option is greyed out so copying details- highlighted differences in bold)
Electrolyte Complex 364g (240 tablets) - High Strength Tablets with Added Magnesium, Potassium & Calcium - Muscle Function and Electrolyte Balance - 240 Vegan Tablets - No Synthetic Binders - GMO-free Made in The UK
Ingredients: Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Bulking Agent (Microcrystalline Cellulose), Magnesium Oxide, Potassium Citrate, Glazing Agents (HydroxypropylMethylCellulose, Glycerin and Carnauba Wax).
BUT what I actually received contained the following:
Weight from 364g-> 446g Removed 'GMO Free' and 'No Synthetic...' claims
Calcium salts of orthophosphoric acid, Potassium Chloride, Bulking Agent (Microcrystalline Cellulose), Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Oxide, Potassium Citrate, Clear Coating (Glazing Agents [HydroxyPropyl- MethylCellulose, Polydextrose, Guar Gum], Maltodextrin, Colour [Calcium Carbonate], Emulsifier [Medium Chain Triglycerides]).
I was shocked to have received this crappy, seemingly cheap replacement (+GMO +synthetics), but most worrying to me is the addition of maltodextrin, with a GI of 100 vs 63 for sugar - I feel like this would kick me out of keto if I take 2/day everyday - They refunded me but would someone let me know what they think about these differences please?
For extra info, both have the same nutritional table
Daily dose: 2 tablets Nutrition table per daily dose:
Potassium 500mg 25%
Chloride 700mg 88%
Calcium 250mg 31%
Magnesium 150mg 40%
Sodium 200mg --
Thanks so much for reading!

2024.05.19 16:50 Infinite_Scallion_24 Observability and repeatability, as well as other YEC misrepresentations of science

I think one of the worst things that you see a lot of the big YEC speakers do is the misrepresentation of science and the scientific method. It's one thing to argue with the evidence, this I accept as it is at least an attempt to engage in actual scientific discourse (excluding those who just baselessly decry the science). Even Tomkins with his apparent inability to do genomics is at the very least attempting to perform scientific experiments. However, these attempts to re-define science in a way that is beneficial to a creationist agenda is insanely frustrating, since it totally ruins all form of good-faith debate, and heavily misinforms people without a scientific education, and who don't really know how scientific process takes place.
To bring this point to light - I'm going to discuss this article from AIG: https://answersingenesis.org/what-is-science/what-is-science/. It displays basically all of these claims, and I consider it to contain some of the worst of AIG's mental gymnastics.
The article opens with a spiel about how science originated in Christian Europe, and refer to how Johannes Kepler, Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton and Galileo Galilei were all Christians who believed in a young Earth. Funnily enough, However - they fail to mention that Galileo was arrested by Christians due to his ideas contradicting a literal interpretation of the Bible - that being geostaticism (the idea that the Earth is stationary). I wonder why they excluded this piece of information?
They also state that "If the universe is a product of random chance or a group of gods that interfere in the universe, there is really no reason to expect order in nature". I could probably write an entire post on why this statement is false, so I won't go into this here. Maybe I'll do a follow up to this one just about this idea.
Now comes one of AIG's points that annoys me to no end - the ideas of 'Operational Science' and 'Historical Science'. AIG frames these terms as such:
Operational: "deals with testing and verifying ideas in the present and leads to the production of useful products like computers, cars, and satellites."
Historical: "involves interpreting evidence from the past and includes the models of evolution and special creation."
These terms do not exist in actual academia. They only exist within AIG's fantasy science land where they decide the rules, so that they can lend a fraction of legitimacy to their outdated ideas. The main reason they do this is to boil the argument down to one of faith. 'Evolutionism' vs Creationism is just a debate between two religions - same as Muslims and Christians arguing over which god is the real one. They present this in a slightly different way, but the meaning is the same: "The argument is not over the evidence—the evidence is the same—it is over the way the evidence should be interpreted." Essentially, 'we have different interpretations of the same stuff, so it's a matter of faith'.
What AIG are doing here is creating an unnecessary distinction. The worst bit is the reference to 'evidence from the past'. What they really mean here are things like the fossil record, radiometric dating, the geologic column - all the things that completely and utterly gut their belief in a 6000 year old created Earth. Instead of addressing them, they claim that it's a matter of interpretation.
Actual science doesn't create this distinction. Its purpose is to provide us with a method that lets us explain things we cannot observe directly, by looking at the things we can observe. No human has ever seen an atom with their own eyes - they are too small. Instead, we used observable evidence to figure out their structure, such as Rutherford's alpha particle scattering experiment - showing how most of the gold foil he was shooting the particles at allowed them to pass through, implying atoms being mostly empty space. Now Rutherford never saw an atom, but he inferred this about them through observation, as well as repetition of an experiment to minimise error. This is how science works. Of course, AIG would call Rutherford's work 'Operational Science', so we'll have to go somewhere else.
Let's use murder as an analogy (jolly, I know) - a person was killed 3 days ago, and their body was just discovered: we never saw them die, and we can never repeat their murder - because they are dead (truly groundbreaking stuff here). However, there is a gash across their neck, and a bloodied knife sat next to them. Moreover, this knife is covered with a person's fingerprints. We can then go to the house of the person who these fingerprints match, and ask them if they know anything - which they deny, despite lacking any alibi and having a definite motive. Do we have enough evidence to determine how the person died, as well as who killed them? Absolutely we do - there's a gash, and a knife covered in blood that matches the victim's: conclusion, they were killed with that knife. The knife is covered with fingerprints that lead to a person with no alibi at all, and a good motive: conclusion, they're the murderer. Now all of these data are from the past - the blood was put on the knife in the past, the wound was made in the past, the fingerprints were put on the knife in the past - by all metrics, this murder case falls into AIG's 'Historical Science'. As such, convicting this person is simply a matter of interpretation. We can only interpret that the fingerprints perfectly match those of the suspect. Who are we to say that they didn't somehow change over time? See how nonsensical this distinction is?
AIG then go on to the subject of theories - and again, they separated 'operational theories' from 'historical theories'. The idea is pretty much the same as discussed above, though there are a few points that I want to address. Firstly, they don't do the thing that I see many creationists (and other science deniers) state - that being the 'it's just a theory' thing, and draw a distinction between the colloquial and scientific definitions, though not without the prerequisite 'Evolutionists claim' line. This point has been beaten into the ground already, so I'll just leave it at that.
They go on to discuss how biological evolution is not an 'operational theory' as it contains 'interpretations of past events' and is 'not as well founded as testable scientific theories like Einstein’s Theory of Relativity or Newton’s Theory of Gravity'. It seems that AIG don't know that while Newton's law of universal gravitation remains as a very well-substantiated piece of science, his actual mechanism for how gravity works was in fact supplanted by Einstein's theory. Good scientific knowledge from AIG, as always. The big part of this section is how they refer to predictability as a method of validating a scientific theory: "These theories offer predictable models and the ability to conduct experiments to determine their validity in different circumstances." Once again, they conveniently omit the immense predictive power of evolutionary theory, instead choosing to claim that it lacks such a property - even going as far to directly claim "Molecules-to-man evolution does not offer this opportunity because these events happened in the past", once again ignoring that one of the key tenets of evolutionary theory is that it both has happened, and is currently happening - considering that we've observed speciation events occurring in the wild: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.0911761106; https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(09)01925-301925-3); https://evolution.berkeley.edu/evo-news/speciation-in-real-time/. The predictive power of evolution is immense, and we are only getting better at making evolutionary predictions as science progresses:
https://ncse.ngo/predictive-power-evolutionary-biology-and-discovery-eusociality-naked-mole-rat,
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9850016/#:~:text=Evolutionary%20predictions%20are%20often%20based,will%20adapt%20to%20their%20environment.
There's also the brief bit where they conflate evolution and abiogenesis "molecules to man evolution". They're two different ideas - and YECs reading this post, stop conflating scientific theories, they are distinct ideas. Evolution deals with how life adapts and develops, it has nothing to do with how life on Earth began - that's abiogenesis. It's the same thing as the Big Bang: it only deals with how the universe formed, not what came before it.
There's a short aside about naturalism, but in order to stop this post turning into a thesis, I'm going to gloss over it and move onto the next bit. Here, AIG describe how "Evolution also relies heavily on the assumption of uniformitarianism— a belief that the present is the key to the past. According to uniformitarians, the processes in the universe have been occurring at a relatively constant rate.". Of course, they fail to consider that, as is the case with all other science, we have evidence to infer that processes do occur at a constant rate. They proceed to discuss rock formation erosion as one of these thing which we assume to have a constant rate - even though I'm pretty sure this is not the case - and that the rate at which these processes takes place is highly variable. To me, this feels like them taking the worst example - and borders on a straw man. Correct me if I'm wrong though - I'm not a geologist, so my understanding is limited here.
I have no doubt that the actual aim of this paragraph is also to sow doubt about other systems reliant upon constant rates of change - such as radiometric dating. Yes, if decay rates were not constant, the values given by radiometric dating would be highly inaccurate, and it would be a useless dating method. However, this would also require a total rewrite of fundamental physics - as the concept of constant nuclear decay rates is backed up by a literal mountain of maths and physical evidence.
However, the Bible makes it very clear that some events of the past were radically different from those we commonly observe today. Noah’s Flood, for example, would have devastated the face of the earth and created a landscape of billions of dead things buried in layers of rock, which is exactly what we see.
Another claim that would take up a post on its own - so I'll skip this and tackle it later. Honestly though, just watch Gutsick Gibbon's stuff on the Genesis flood - she gives a far better explanation than I ever could.
Just as evolutionists weren’t there to see evolution happen over several billion years, neither were creationists there to see the events of the six days of creation. The difference is that creationists have the Creator’s eyewitness account of the events of creation, while evolutionists must create a story to explain origins without the supernatural.
More totally neutral and unbiased claims by AIG, as expected. There is no 'story' being created - scientists observe the (sometimes literal - pun very much intended) mountains of evidence for evolution. The fact that they have to make up a nonsense distinction to split science in two, so that they can put the bits they don't like (Big Bang cosmology, fossils, radiometric dating, geologic column, etc.) in a separate spot to the bits they do like, such as technology and medicine.
Just because many scientists believe the story does not make the story true.
Ironic, considering how much Ken Ham loves to show his lists of creationist scientists. Practice what you preach buddy.
