2024.05.22 01:01 Last_Channel_8657 I think I was followed home last night

I was almost followed into my apartment building last night but I'm not clear what this person's intentions were. I'm a woman in my 20s living in Brooklyn, I'm from NY, and have heard and been warned about walking home alone, but still have never experienced something like being followed, until last night. I was coming home from work and I got off at my regular train stop and started to walk to my apartment which is about 2 avenues from the train. I had both my earbuds in, but I wasn't listening to anything. I start to pass the park that is about a block away from me and I can feel and hear someone behind me, shuffling their feet as they walk. Not a problem, there was plenty of people around, both in the park and on the streets and sidewalks around it. It was about 7:30pm and still light out but the sun was going down. I get to the traffic light at the corner of the park when I notice this person is still behind me. I turned my head to the left slightly so I can see this person in my peripheral vision and I could see they were wearing a brown hoodie and had long brown hair, but still couldn't tell if it was a man or woman. I turned back to the street, crossed when the light changed and made a left, the next block was my street. I wanted to test if this person would pass me or walk in the same direction, so as I made it to my block I abruptly turned right and this person did the same. I'm now on the right side of my street but would have to cross to the left side where my apartment is, so as I was walking straight up my block I really quickly turned left and squeezed through a tiny space between two parked cars to cross the street, and I notice this person speeds up and does the exact same thing in the exact same spot!! This is when my heart started pounding. I started speeding up a little bit and I'm about 4 apartment buildings away from mine, and I hear this person's shuffling feet keeping pace with mine and speed up as I do, and I hear a single manly deep breath behind me. This is where I feel a little dumb, instead of continuing to walk up the street to a cafe or stop and tell someone (there was a few people walking on the sidewalk) I thought, "ok, our front lobby door locks whenever it's closed all the way, and if you don't have a key you can't get in, I'll just get inside there, close the door, and see what happens." So I get to my front 2 steps, jump inside the open lobby door, and immediately turn around and slam it shut. As I do this, this MAN WALKED RIGHT INTO THE DOOR and I come face to face with this man behind the glass. He was maybe in his late 20s to early 30s, light-skinned black man, with long brown almost waist length braids. He looked feminine and was actually quite pretty, but the look on his face was strange, like he was not fully there. His eyes were wide but the rest of his face blank, and he never looked away from me. Now get this, he never opens his mouth to say anything, but instead keeps those wide eyes on mine, holds up both of his hands, in one he's holding his iphone, which has a dead battery symbol on it and in the other hand is an ID, but it doesn't look like him on it. I totally should have read it, maybe it had the address to the same apartment on it, but I didn't even care, I just yelled "NO!" The thing is he readily had the ID in his hand, he didn't go into a pocket or a bag, he just had his hands up and ready to show me. I watched him never change his face, turn to his right and leave. I called my roommate to let her know, and she had a friend walk her home about two hours after I got in, so I wasn't alone for the rest of the night. I wish I took a picture of him with the ID and phone, but I was just weirded out that he tried to step inside right behind me but didn't try to come back in again or say a single word. I thought maybe I dropped my ID and he was returning it, but I checked and mine was in my wallet. Maybe he was asking for me to lend him a phone charger, but why would he follow me inside for that?! Was I overreacting?

2024.05.21 23:38 IaskNiceOnce Coming to Vegas for my 40th birthday and the 4th of July; rate my intinerary

I initially had planned on coming June 30th so got hotel reservations starting from then, but plane tickets wound up being way cheaper if I came a day early so I got a random hotel reservation, before anyone asks. I'm going with my best friend who invited me to go with him to Vegas for his 50th birthday last year.
June 29: Arrive at 4 pm, Four Queens for one night. I don't have a whole lot planned for this day except dinner which is undecided. I do want to try and hit Neon Museum that night though. Also plan to visit the Art's District.
June 30: Comp 2 night stay at Aria. Criss Angel in the evening.
July 1: Hoover Dam VIP Tour in the morning. Piff the Magic Dragon in the evening.
July 2 (my birthday): Got myself a room at Signature of MGM balcony suite which is 900 square feet. It'll be the nicest room I've ever stayed in (except maybe Aria the previous 2 nights). Thing only cost me $100 when I looked 6 months ago; it's $600 now. Vegas Speedway in the morning. Rouge in the evening.
July 3-6: The D downtown. Red Rock tour on the 3rd. No big shows planned this day but I'm still looking into it. We plan on going to Chinatown on this day also.
July 4th is currently wide open. We plan on finding a good spot to watch fireworks and that's it.
July 5th: Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon day tour
July 6th: Home
I haven't figured out where I wanna eat but I do know I want to eat at the major buffets like Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal. Also want to hit Herbs & Rye for their half off happy hour.
What does everyone think?

2024.05.21 22:09 MrBackBreaker586 Estimated vs. True Budgets – Why Many Struggle with Housing and Living Costs

The Reality of Housing and Utility Costs: Why Estimated Budgets Fall Short Across Different Income Levels

The discussion around housing affordability is increasingly relevant as home prices and utility costs continue to rise, especially near major metropolitan areas. Let's dive into a detailed comparison of estimated and true budgets for individuals earning the federal minimum wage, median income, and average income, and see how they fare in terms of affording housing and utilities close to major cities. This comparison will highlight why these budgets often fall short.

Budget Analysis

Federal Minimum Wage Scenario:

Estimated Monthly Budget: - Housing: $400 - Utilities: $100 - Food: $300 - Transportation: $100 - Healthcare: $50 - Debt Payments: $50 - Savings and Investments: $50 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $81
Estimated Total Monthly Expenses: $1,131
True Monthly Budget: - Housing: $400 (Shared housing or low-cost rentals) - Utilities: $367 - Food: $416 (national average) - Transportation: $400 - Healthcare: $400 - Debt Payments: $400 - Savings and Investments: $400 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $300
True Total Monthly Expenses: $3,083
Shortfall: $1,952 per month

Median Income Scenario:

Estimated Monthly Budget: - Housing: $1,400 - Utilities: $200 - Food: $600 - Transportation: $400 - Healthcare: $400 - Debt Payments: $400 - Savings and Investments: $400 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $861
Estimated Total Monthly Expenses: $4,661
True Monthly Budget: - Housing: $1,919 (average mortgage for a $400,000 home) - Utilities: $367 - Food: $416 - Transportation: $400 - Healthcare: $400 - Debt Payments: $400 - Savings and Investments: $400 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $300
True Total Monthly Expenses: $4,602

Average Income Scenario:

Estimated Monthly Budget: - Housing: $1,300 - Utilities: $200 - Food: $600 - Transportation: $400 - Healthcare: $400 - Debt Payments: $400 - Savings and Investments: $400 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $637
Estimated Total Monthly Expenses: $4,337
True Monthly Budget: - Housing: $1,919 (average mortgage for a $400,000 home) - Utilities: $367 - Food: $416 - Transportation: $400 - Healthcare: $400 - Debt Payments: $400 - Savings and Investments: $400 - Entertainment and Miscellaneous: $300
True Total Monthly Expenses: $4,602

Housing Prices in Major Cities

Here are the average home prices and their impact on affordability in some major cities:
  1. New York, NY (Queens):
    • Average Home Price: $1,091,100
    • Typical Monthly Mortgage: $5,795
  2. San Francisco, CA:
    • Average Home Price: $1,515,000
    • Typical Monthly Mortgage: $6,320
  3. Seattle, WA:
    • Average Home Price: $800,000
    • Typical Monthly Mortgage: $3,579
  4. Los Angeles, CA:
    • Average Home Price: $900,000
    • Typical Monthly Mortgage: $3,840
  5. Austin, TX:
    • Average Home Price: $575,000
    • Typical Monthly Mortgage: $2,450

Additional Cost Increases: Food, Gas, and Car Prices

1. Food Prices: - Food prices in the U.S. have increased significantly, with the average cost of groceries being $416 per person per month (https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/finance/how-much-to-spend-on-groceries).
2. Gas Prices: - Gas prices have been volatile, with significant increases due to global events and supply chain disruptions. The average cost of gasoline is now around $3.50 per gallon, up from pre-pandemic levels.
3. Car Prices: - The cost of new and used cars has surged due to supply chain issues and increased demand. New car prices have increased by approximately 12% over the past year, while used car prices have seen even larger increases.

Inflation and Price Gouging

Inflation Impact: - Overall inflation has driven up the cost of living, impacting housing, utilities, food, and transportation. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows a significant rise in prices across all major categories.
Price Gouging: - During periods of high demand and low supply, some businesses have engaged in price gouging, further exacerbating the financial strain on consumers.

Taxation of a Dollar

When discussing the taxation process, it’s important to understand how many times a dollar is taxed before it is effectively reduced to zero through successive transactions.
1. How a Dollar is Taxed: - Initial Income Tax: Assume a marginal tax rate of 25%. From $1 earned, 25 cents goes to taxes, leaving 75 cents. - Subsequent Spending and Sales Tax: When the 75 cents is spent, assume a sales tax rate of 10%. This deducts 7.5 cents, leaving 67.5 cents. - Cycle of Transactions: This process repeats with each transaction. Each time the money changes hands, it is subject to additional taxation (income tax, sales tax, etc.).
2. How Many Times a Dollar Changes Hands: - Mathematical Model: The dollar's value after each transaction is ( Vn = V{n-1} \times (1 - t) ), where ( V ) is the value and ( t ) is the combined tax rate. - Effective Tax Rate: Assuming a combined effective tax rate of 35% (including various forms of taxation), we can calculate how many times a dollar changes hands before it is effectively reduced to zero. - Calculation: Using the formula ( V_n = V_0 \times (1 - t)n ), where ( V_0 ) is the initial dollar and solving for when ( V_n \approx 0 ): - If ( t = 0.35 ), then ( V_n = 1 \times (0.65)n ). - Solving for ( n ) when ( V_n \approx 0 ) (practically considered close to zero when it is less than 1 cent), we find that it takes approximately 10-12 transactions for the dollar to be effectively taxed to zero.

Why Budgets Don't Make Sense

Minimum Wage Earner: - The true total monthly expenses for a minimum wage earner exceed their after-tax income by $1,952. Even with shared housing and minimal expenses, they cannot afford basic living costs without significant financial assistance or multiple jobs.
Median Income Earner: - While the estimated and true budgets balance, they do not leave much room for unexpected expenses or significant savings. Housing and utility costs consume a significant portion of the income, limiting financial flexibility.
Average Income Earner: - Similar to median income earners, the estimated and true budgets balance but are very tight. High housing and utility costs significantly constrain the ability to save or spend on discretionary items.

Conclusion

Comparing these budgets highlights the stark differences in financial flexibility between minimum wage earners and those earning median or average incomes. Minimum wage earners face significant challenges in meeting basic living expenses, particularly housing and utilities. Even median and average income earners experience tight budgets when purchasing homes near major cities. Addressing housing affordability requires a multifaceted approach, including policy interventions, financial support, and increased wages to ensure financial stability and quality of life for all income groups.

2024.05.21 10:11 jsimait1 Rise of Kivet Kat

In the bustling city of Rochester, NY, an extraordinary event was unfolding. The super mutant X gene, known as The Catalyst, was spreading like wildfire. This gene had the power to awaken latent abilities in those it touched, forever altering their lives.

Chapter 1: A Troubled Beginning

Our story begins with a girl named Daniella "Dani" Dixon. Dani was known throughout her high school as a troublemaker, the girl who always found herself in detention. Her record of misdemeanors was as long as her list of missed classes. But Dani’s rebellious streak wasn’t just a teenage phase—it was a product of her environment. Her father was a notorious drug dealer, and her mother managed the money from their illicit dealings. Inevitably, Dani got caught with marijuana, leading to her expulsion from school.
Expelled and with nowhere to turn, Dani was forced into the family business, becoming a reluctant drug dealer on the streets of Rochester. It was a grim existence, her dreams and potential smothered by the shadow of her parents' criminal activities.

Chapter 2: A Fateful Encounter

One dreary afternoon, Dani was walking along Lyell Avenue, a notorious street lined with abandoned buildings and the remnants of once-thriving businesses. The wind carried the sounds of distant sirens, a constant reminder of the city's unrest. As she passed an old, crumbling building, a soft, pitiful cry caught her attention.
Curious, Dani pushed aside some overgrown bushes and found a small skunk kit glowing faintly. The little creature was crying, its tiny body trembling. Dani’s hardened heart softened at the sight, and she reached out to comfort the kit. The moment her hand touched its fur, a surge of energy shot through her body. It was The Catalyst.
Dani fainted, her body overwhelmed by the sudden surge of power. When she woke up, she found herself lying on the cold, hard ground. The skunk kit was still there, now nestled against her side. To her amazement, she could understand the kit’s soft, anxious words.
"My name is Sable," the kit whispered. "I lost my mother. A car ran her over."

Chapter 3: Transformation

Dani looked around, trying to process what had just happened. She caught a glimpse of herself in a broken mirror leaning against the building. Her reflection was unrecognizable. She had transformed into a human-anthropoid skunk, with black and white fur and bright, intelligent eyes. She marveled at her new appearance and the strange new abilities she felt coursing through her.
Realizing she had the power to transform, Dani shifted into a small skunk, mirroring Sable’s form. This ability would allow her to move unnoticed during the day, a perfect disguise for someone who needed to stay hidden.

Chapter 4: A New Life

Returning to her home in her four-legged skunk form, Dani discovered her parents had been arrested in a police raid. Their drug-dealing empire had finally crumbled. With no home or family to return to, Dani made the abandoned building on Lyell Avenue her new refuge.
During the day, she walked on four legs, blending in with the city's wildlife. At night, she embraced her anthropoid form, using her new abilities to protect the city that had once turned its back on her. She named herself Kivet Kat, a symbol of her transformation and new purpose.

Chapter 5: Becoming a Hero

Kivet Kat and Sable became inseparable. Dani took care of the little skunk kit, vowing to protect her at all costs. The two formed an unlikely duo, using their unique abilities to fight crime and bring justice to the streets of Rochester.
As Kivet Kat, Dani's senses were heightened, and her agility and strength were unmatched. She could communicate with animals, gathering information that no human could. Her dual forms allowed her to navigate the city effortlessly, evading detection during the day and striking fear into the hearts of criminals at night.

Chapter 6: The Catalyst's Legacy

Word of Kivet Kat’s deeds spread throughout Rochester, inspiring hope in a city plagued by crime and corruption. She became a symbol of resilience, showing that even those from the darkest backgrounds could rise to become heroes.
But The Catalyst was still spreading, awakening powers in others across the city. Some would use their newfound abilities for good, while others would inevitably fall into darkness. Kivet Kat knew her work was just beginning. She would have to navigate this new world, where every ally and foe possessed extraordinary powers.

Epilogue: A New Dawn

As the sun rose over Rochester, Kivet Kat perched atop a building, looking out over the city she had sworn to protect. With Sable by her side, she felt a sense of purpose she had never known before. Her journey was far from over, but for the first time, she faced the future with hope.
The Catalyst had given her a second chance, and she would use it to ensure that no one else would have to walk the path she had. Kivet Kat was here to stay, a guardian of the night and a beacon of hope for all.
And so, the legend of Kivet Kat began, a tale of redemption, transformation, and the unyielding spirit of a girl who refused to be defined by her past.

2024.05.20 22:43 FlowrOfTheMountain Principal Said No Summer Reading

Myself and a group of ELA teachers wanted to assigned one summer reading book for honors classes (The Catcher in the Rye). Principal said no and that if we wanted to do that in the future, we need to supply research that shows the benefits of summer reading and present it to her and prepare to supply that research to parents. Other schools in our district assign summer reading… some even have a written assignment to go along with it. Is this worth fighting for? Or should we just drop it?

2024.05.20 21:48 redditor50613 Ospreys

In light of Ospreys nesting on the Ferris wheel at Rye Playland and delaying the opening of that attraction, something I've been wondering is that I'm basically seeing Osprey nests everywhere by the Westchester coast these days. From them nesting at the parks in New Rochelle, to the Police Station in Larchmont and other places in Rye/Mamk. The big nests and Osprey yelp is something I started noticing some years back; so my question is has this always been the case and I just never paid attention to them or is this something newish in our area?

2024.05.20 21:47 Iscratchmybutt 4.5 years down the drain because of my big mistake

We met in New York when she was interning and spent the first 9 months together. It was the best 9 months of my life. And I felt like she was the one.
Then she went back to her country and COVID happened, so for 1+ years we couldn't see each other. I worked remotely so I would take 1 month trips to her country every year to see her for the next 3 years.
Starting January 2022 she started her first job and that's when my misery started. She became a workaholic and started to disappear. Our 2 phone calls a week became 1 phone call every 2 weeks, and our daily back and forth texting became one response per day. In the beginning I tried to be understanding since it was her first job, but after a few months I asked if we could talk more. She agreed but then it kept happening because she had no energy.
But I felt like she was the one, so I just kept waiting even though I was starting to break inside. Did she still love me? Is this all just part of her maturing process? Would she be like this from now on? Over the course of the next few months, I kept communicating that I would like to talk more and that 1 response per day 5 minutes before she went to sleep and 1 phone call every 2 or 3 weeks was too little for me. She again understood, but little changed.
In September of 2022, I took her on a trip to Thailand and spent a month with her again in her home country. I communicated that I needed her to eventually come to the US in order for us to continue. I couldn't take it anymore because it seemed like our futures would never cross at this rate and I was struggling with the lack of communication. She said she would try to prep for it, but again her work sapped all her energy so her progress was extremely slow and it seemed like it was going no where in the following months.
I endured all of this for 1.5 years before ultimately asking her to go separate ways in April 2023. But I still loved her so much. But I was also starting to hate her for not being able to show me some sort of affection. But for the next few months after the breakup we still texted, maybe even more often and in a better tone than in the 1.5 years I waited for her. I think she could tell that I still loved her.
In September 2023 she suddenly said she was going to come to NY. I didn't know what to think of it. Was this for me or for her career? I still had a lot of pent up resentment for the past 1.5 years and didn't know how to react.
Then she came in October 2023 to start a new job but I was away in Las Vegas. And then I made the biggest mistake of my life. She had a car accident and had surgery on her arm. She called me for the first time in half a year, and I told her not to worry and that I was there for her. But I didn't go back immediately. Instead I stayed in Las Vegas for another few weeks like an idiot (I have a home there), hoping she would say she wanted me by her side. Any sign that she still loved me.
In November 2023 I went back to NY and met up with her again a few times. I helped her move and we hung out. I was reminded of how much I love her when I spent time with her. Then I tried to get closer to her and then call her and confess that I wanted to get back together with her. But she rejected me and said she didn't want it and said she was "frightened" by this sudden confession and breakdown I was having. I was totally devastated.
I thought I had suddenly lost her forever. I started having anxiety attacks and puked / gagged and couldn't eat or sleep or pay attention at work. My life was in shambles.
I wrote her 2 or 3 handwritten letters over the next 2 months trying to salvage the relationship. It was like losing my best friend. At that point I would've been ok with just being friends, as long as she didn't leave my life.
A month later, she texted me and I was in relief. She asked for help with her resume and I was willing to do anything to be in her life again and hopefully rebuild that trust.
Over the course of the next 2 months I would help her apply for jobs and edit her resume. She seemed very thankful.
In February 2024, she suddenly asked if I wanted to meet up or talk. I said OF COURSE lets talk on the phone. And I bawled my eyes out, expressing to her how sorry I was and how guilty I had felt this whole time because I felt like I caused the accident. She said it was ok and that I shouldn't feel that way.
In March we met up a few times. We originally had zoom meeting on Wednesdays and that changed to meeting up in person on Sundays. We played badminton, ate out, and went to cafes. I felt like that trust was slowly being rebuilt. But every time I tried to flirt with her or reminisce about the past, she would ignore my messages or ghost me. Then she would ghost me for a week and on Sunday I would ask if we were meeting up and she would pretend like she was busy and that we should do it next week. She did that for multiple consecutive weeks. I made it obvious that I really wanted to talk and meet up more.
After 2.5 weeks I couldn't bear it anymore and just called her. She then said she was seeing someone new... I said lets meet up the next day, she said ok.
We met up the next day and I told her how I felt. I told her that I still loved her this whole time and that I was so sorry for what I did. I begged her to reconsider and take me back. She said she couldn't.
I called her the next day and cried to her telling her to give us another chance. She still said she couldn't. I texted her a few times later but she didn't respond at all.
I'm back to having anxiety attacks and a rollercoaster of emotions. How could she fucking choose this new guy she met a few weeks or a month or two ago over me? How could she lead me on like this when it was obvious I still loved her this whole time? How could she not give our 4.5 year relationship another chance? Was it worth fucking nothing to her?
I spent 2 years, or 5% of my potential 80 year lifetime waiting for her. Why can't she forgive this one mistake? I feel like a worthless piece of shit.
I know I'm in the wrong for not coming back immediately. This is the biggest regret of my life. I wish I could go back in time to undo it. I ruined my own life. But I wish she would just at least talk to me about it and not ghost me like this. This makes me feel like I am worth nothing to her. Meanwhile I'm struggling a lot mentally and she is leaving me out to die. When she had an accident at least I was always there for her through my text and phone even though I was confused.

2024.05.20 17:55 Mav12222 NY-16 Primary Observations

As a preface, live in NY-16, in the part the district took from NY-17. I’ve been paying close attention to this race as it’s the first time this area has ever been in a competitive election of note (never mind the national attention).
I consider myself a swing voter in this election. I ideologically agree with Bowman on many points, but I am familiar with Latimer (I worked on his County Exec campaign and in his office for two summers) and platform/record wise he is still a friend for progressive policies, he is just more experienced, pragmatic etc. I have found myself in a position where I am fine with either candidate and have not decided who I’m voting for yet.
Now that the election is in about a month, here are things I’ve noticed:

2024.05.20 17:43 Vertx11 I need help, opinions, advice

My (31m) wife (32f) have been together for 19 years, married for 11 this year. We had a child when we were 16, I broke up with her for 2 months when i was 17 because she was being very cruel to me, I started talking to another girl but nothin serious (this will be important later). We have always had a good marriage. We typically just get along really well. The past 5 years or so it's started changing, the past year has been very different. We both work and while I do well, she is very successful in her career and it is very lucrative (medical field). We have 3 children and are almost done building our dream house. Around the house, I clean, wash all dishes, wash and fold almost all of our clothes, pack all of the school lunches, pick kids up from school, manage and take kids to most appointments, help with homework, do most of the cooking, I do all of our grocery shopping, constantly play with the kids outside and sometimes they help me work around our property. My wife is an absolutely wonderful woman who I love more than any words can describe. She's the entire package and I mean it. I compliment her constantly, I run her bathwater, rub her feet, flirt with her, try my best to take her on dates, listen to her work struggles, constantly telling her how much I love her and how proud I am of her accomplishments and that I'm so happy our daughter has such an amazing role model. I'm more than happy to do more than my share of chores, I'm more than happy to show her as much love and respect as I possibly am able to. The past year of our marriage has been off though. The past 4 or 5 months have been brutal. I got yelled and cussed at in front of our 3 yo because I backed a skidsteer into the house and broke a board. I was landscaping for our yard and have operated equipment like this since I was a child. I told her it was a mistake and I was sorry but I was absolutely berated and she didn't talk to me for weeks. When the 3yo started crying she got even more angry at me and said all this was my fault. Other times when we've disagreed on things she always raises her voice at me. It's common place for her to call me a sorry piece of shit, a bad dad, and tells me that she is ready to get a divorce. She will go weeks without speaking to me and without sleeping in the same bed as me. She makes fun of me because I always speak softly when we get in a disagreement on something or if I've done something to upset her. She mocks me. She sometimes will get in her car randomly and just leave for 45 mins when she's mad at me and not tell me anything. She had our 16yo's birthday party at a time when she knew I would miss it because she was mad at me recently. I begged her to have it a couple hours later as it was a family only birthday and nobody cared. She has never initiated sex and never randomly just gave me a hug or kiss or even a compliment. She has never once in our rwlationship apologized or said she was sorry about anything, she flat out topd me any peoblem was ny fault. I lost over 60 pounds about 4 years ago and she told me I looked like a child and looked like I was on meth. That broke me because I worked hard on that for 2 years. I had been on high BP meds and wanted to be healthy again and feel good. My lifestyle change had even caused her to lose and keep off about 30 pounds. I feel like I'm not able to make any mistakes or say the wrong thing or she will yell at me and shut me out for weeks. When I say mistakes I mean things like verbally repremanding our children the wrong way. I NEVER raise my voice and I spanked my first son a few times and felt awful and I don't do that anymore. Other things were telling the the house contractor that electricity would be ran on the wrong day by accident, she dislikes my mom and when i would go to visit with my dad she would become outraged and make me feel bad about it. 2 weeks ago we got in a bad argument and she admitted that she actually still hated me for breaking up with her when I was 17. She said she would never forgive me for it and that she would never be "in love" with me. I felt like that day, we talked that out so completely that she felt better about it. She said that she would try to let it go. For a few days our relationship was so good I didn't even know how to act! I was so excited! Then I got onto my son one night about a glare he cut me when I told him he needed to stop forgetting his chores. She completely got on his side right then and just verbally berated me in front of all the kids. My son just left the house. I tried to shrug it off and looked to her and said he can't just leave when something happens. She said she qould have left to. She told me she was done trying and that I had lied to her about how good our relationship was about to be and that it was easier to just not speak to me. We haven't talked or slept in the same bed in a week now. Something feels different this time. I feel like I was so close to having her back and now it's gone again. I try so hard to make sure she has as little stress as possible. I have worked and sacrificed so much when she quit her job and went back to school. I loved every second of it though and I would never change it. I'm so proud of what she is now. I just love her as a person, wife, mother, friend. I had told her a couple weeks ago that if she wanted a divorce that I would hate it but of I couldn't make her happy that it was ok. That she deserves to be happy and that she can have the house we are building and have my 401k to help pay for it. I told her she can have sell the equipment I've acquired from my small side business doing heavy equipment work (I don't take on much with this as I have a full time job. I just really take a few jobs when one of us wants something or we get ready to do a big vacation because we go on a lot of vacations). She has gotten to the point where she will not even acknowledge that I'm right there speaking to her though. She won't respond to me trying to understand the issue. She told me that I was fucking crazy and I need to be on medicine. I told her I will make an appointment and go because of she's not happy there's an issue. I asked her about marriage counseling but she told me that she's not going and that I could go by myself because I'm the one that needs to see a therapist. I'm so sorry for the long post, but please give me your thoughts or opinions. Just so you know, I don't drink or do drugs or have hobbies like golf etc.. i work, i go home and work around the house, i play with my kids, thats it. I don't cuss around our kids ever and I have never raised my voice or said a cuss word at her in anyway.

As a reviewer who's been using Chomps Beef Sticks, I can confidently say that they've become my go-to snack for those times when I need a quick energy boost. The original flavor is my favorite, and with its 100 calories, it's a healthier alternative to high-carb and sugary snacks. I appreciate how these beef sticks are made from grass-fed beef without hormones or antibiotics, and are certified Paleo and Gluten-free.
One thing that stood out to me was the texture of the sticks. They're not overly chewy, but they also don't fall apart too easily. The taste is well-balanced, with just a hint of spice to keep things interesting. Plus, each stick packs a hefty 9 to 10 grams of protein, making them a satisfying, filling snack.
However, there are a few minor downsides to Chomps Beef Sticks. Some users have reported inconsistencies in the manufacturing process, with some sticks having a slippery casing that falls apart easily. Additionally, the sticks can be quite dry, which might not appeal to everyone.
In conclusion, Chomps Beef Sticks are a high-quality, nutritious snack that's perfect for those times when you need a quick protein boost. While they might not be everyone's perfect snack due to their dry texture and occasional manufacturing issues, I personally believe that their taste, convenience, and health benefits make them a worthwhile addition to your daily diet.

When it comes to on-the-go snacking, I'm always on the lookout for something quick, healthy, and tasty. That's where Chomps Grass Fed & Finished Venison Jerky Meat Snack Sticks come in. These meat sticks are not only approved by my favorite diet plans (Keto, Paleo, Whole30) but also packed with 9 grams of protein and only 90 calories per stick.
I've been quite the adventurous soul when it comes to Chomps flavors. The Salt & Pepper Venison is by far my favorite, with its rich venison taste that's enhanced by the blend of grass-fed venison and beef seasoning. It's like having a miniature Thanksgiving feast in my pocket!
One thing that really stands out about these jerky sticks is how fresh they taste. Unlike some store-bought jerky that can be quite tough, Chomps jerky is moist and tender, making it incredibly satisfying to eat. Plus, the saltiness and pepperiness are perfectly balanced, providing a nice tang without being overbearing.
On the downside, I do wish there were more variety in flavors. While I love the classics like Salt & Pepper, it would be great to see some spicier options or even some unique international flavor combinations.
All in all, Chomps Grass Fed & Finished Venison Jerky Meat Snack Sticks have quickly become my go-to snack for those days when I need something quick and filling on the go. The natural ingredients and good taste make them a winning combo in my book!

I recently introduced the Home Range Beef Chomper Stick to my furry companion and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer! This tasty treat is made from 100% pure beef sourced from grass-fed animals - no steroids, hormones, or antibiotics here.
What I loved most about this treat is how digestible it is. My doggo usually has a sensitive tummy, but he's been able to enjoy every bite without any issues. Plus, the high protein content and omega fatty acids have made his coat shinier than ever!
Another standout feature is its ability to help clean his teeth. After just a few chews, I noticed that his teeth were already looking whiter and healthier. And best of all, he loves the taste and can't get enough of it!
However, one downside is that it tends to disappear quite quickly. My little buddy can finish an entire stick in under 10 minutes, which means I have to keep a close eye on him while he enjoys his treat.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Home Range Beef Chomper Stick for any dog owners looking for a healthy, delicious option that promotes joint health and keeps their pup's teeth clean. Just remember to supervise your furry friend while they chomp away!

I recently purchased Crumps Naturals Beef Tendersticks for my beloved Golden Retriever, Max. From what I've heard, they're quite popular among pet owners. Now, I can see why!
First, these tender sticks are made from 100% natural, Canadian beef. That's right, it's just pure, unprocessed meat, free of any additives or preservatives. I feel good about providing Max with such a wholesome treat. Plus, they're thin and easy to break, making them perfect for training or just an occasional snack. I even carry some in my pocket for when we're out on walks or going to the park.
One thing I noticed is that due to the thinness of these strips, they tend to break into sharp, pointed pieces. Not the most appealing thing. However, by breaking the treat into smaller bits, this issue doesn't really affect us much. I just have to be more cautious when I'm giving them to Max.
Additionally, the aroma of the beef lingers on these treats. Not overpowering or anything, but Max definitely catches a whiff and comes running for them. I'm guessing that's a good sign.
Also, the size of these sticks is ideal for any size dog, like Max, who loves to munch on them. Plus, their long shelf life also plays a critical role, especially if you tend to buy treats in bulk like I do.
In conclusion, while there are some minor concerns about the sharpness of the pieces, overall, Crumps Naturals Beef Tendersticks have proven to be a great treat for Max. He enjoys the taste, and I like the fact that it's a natural and wholesome product.
But remember, each dog has its own taste and preferences, just like humans! So while these treats might be perfect for Max, your furry friend might prefer something else. It's all about trial and error, and finding what truly makes your pet's tail wag!

I recently introduced Ruffin' It's Chomp'ems Beef Jerky to my canine companion, and it's been a game-changer! This homemade-style beef jerky is the perfect snack for my buddy, who couldn't be more enthusiastic about them. Made with just one ingredient - real beef - these treats are packed with natural protein and no grains or fillers.
Since we've been using these treats, I've noticed a considerable increase in my dog's energy levels, and they seem to be enjoying the taste thoroughly. The best part is that there are no artificial colors, flavors, or added preservatives, making it a guilt-free reward for my lovable pet.
There is one downside that I must mention - the smell. While my dog loves the aroma, it can be quite overpowering for me and others around. It's essential to be cautious when handling these treats, as they may leave stains on fabrics or carpets due to their greasiness.
Overall, I highly recommend Ruffin' It's Chomp'ems Beef Jerky for any dog owner looking for a high-protein, natural, and delicious treat. Just be prepared for the potent smell that comes with it!

I can personally vouch for the Chomps Venison Stick, Salt & Pepper, Mild - it's my go-to snack when I need something satisfyingly meaty without compromising on quality ingredients. The key to the Chomps' magic is that they're made from venison raised without hormones or antibiotics - that's some serious dedication to clean eating!
One of the things that really stands out about these snack sticks is the savory blend of spices. They give the venison a delicious flavor and a mild kick that keeps me reaching for more. Plus, with 9 g of protein packed into just 100 calories, it keeps me full and energized throughout the day.
However, there are a few cons to note. Some users have reported a slightly greasier texture compared to other similar products. Additionally, the presence of "spray-dried celery powder" as a flavoring and preservative agent might be a concern for those trying to avoid artificial additives.
Nevertheless, the overall reception of the Chomps Venison Stick has been overwhelmingly positive. People seem to love the unique venison flavor, especially when paired with the salt and pepper seasoning. Plus, the product claims to be gluten-free, Paleo-certified, and Whole30 approved, which appeals to a wide range of dietary preferences.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a convenient and tasty protein source that doesn't skimp on quality ingredients, the Chomps Venison Stick might just be what you're looking for. But keep an eye on those artificial additives, as they might not be everyone's cup of tea.

đź”—Chomps Original Gluten-Free Beef Sticks: A Healthy, Paleo-Approved Snack

https://preview.redd.it/iswzb9b05k1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c4ed5815f537896783bf302a2b470b8e04b1896
I recently came across Chomps Original Beef Sticks while searching for a healthy, on-the-go snack option. As someone who is always on the lookout for nutritious snacks that can be easily carried around, these beef sticks became an instant favorite. The packaging is simple and easy to open, and the sticks themselves are conveniently wrapped, making them perfect for tossing in a bag or pocket.
What sets Chomps apart from other jerkies on the market is their commitment to quality ingredients. The Original Beef Sticks contain 9g-10g of protein per stick, with no added sugar, making them a great choice for those following a Paleo or Whole30 diet. Additionally, these beef sticks are certified Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Verified, and Whole30 Approved, making them suitable for a wide range of dietary preferences and restrictions.
In terms of taste, the Original Beef Sticks have a mild flavor with a nice balance of savory and smoky notes. The texture is satisfyingly chewy without being too tough, and they are surprisingly filling for such a small snack. I've found that these beef sticks are an excellent option for post-workout refueling, as well as for staving off hunger during long days at the office.
However, one potential downside to Chomps Original Beef Sticks is their relatively high price point compared to other jerky options. At $2.49 per stick (or about $30 for a case of 12), these beef sticks may not be the most cost-effective option for those on a tight budget. Nevertheless, I believe that the high quality of the ingredients and the overall satisfaction provided by these snacks make them worth the investment.
Another point worth mentioning is that some users have reported inconsistencies in the quality and taste of the beef sticks over time. While the majority of reviews for these products are overwhelmingly positive, a small number of customers have experienced issues such as mold or off-flavors. This may be a concern for some purchasers, but it's worth noting that Chomps does offer a customer satisfaction guarantee, so those who experience issues can reach out to the company for assistance.
In conclusion, Chomps Original Beef Sticks are an excellent option for anyone in search of a high-quality, nutritious snack that can be easily consumed on the go. While the price may be somewhat higher than other jerky options, the benefits of the clean ingredient list and satisfying taste make these beef sticks a worthwhile investment for many customers. If you're looking to try a new snack that won't compromise your dietary goals, I would highly recommend giving Chomps Original Beef Sticks a chance.

Making Healthier Snack Choices with Chomps Beef Sticks"
Last week, I decided to clean up my snacking habits and began searching for healthier options. That's when I stumbled upon Chomps - Beef Sticks Italian Style. I was intrigued by their claims of being gluten free, non-GMO verified, and packed with a nutritional punch of 9g-10g protein per stick. Being an avid meat lover, I was excited to give them a try.
The first thing that caught my attention was the packaging. It was straightforward and easy to open, which is a huge plus when you're hungry and just want to sink your teeth into something tasty. The beef sticks themselves were a surprisingly good size, making them perfect for satisfying those mid-morning or afternoon cravings.
As for the taste, I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The Italian Style beef sticks had a rich, savory flavor that was far from boring. I could taste the quality of the grass-fed beef used in their creation, and the spices added just the right amount of kick.
However, there was one issue that struck me as slightly off-putting: the texture. It wasn't chewy or too tough, but it did have a slightly grainy feel to it. This might not bother some people, but for me, it was a minor drawback when comparing Chomps to other jerky products I've tried in the past.
In terms of nutrition, Chomps hits the mark. With 60-90 calories and 0g sugar, these beef sticks are a guilt-free snack choice that won't derail your diet goals. They're also low in carbs, which is great for anyone following a keto or low-carb lifestyle.
All in all, Chomps - Beef Sticks Italian Style are a solid choice for anyone looking to incorporate healthier snacks into their routine. While they may not be perfect in every way, their high-quality ingredients, impressive nutritional profile, and delicious taste make them a worthwhile addition to your snack arsenal. Give them a try, and see if you can't make healthier snack choices a part of your daily routine!

As someone who's always on the go, having a healthy and tasty snack option has been a game-changer for me. That's where Chomps Grass-Fed and Free Range Beef & Turkey Sticks come into play. Their variety pack offers a delicious medley of flavors, each packed with 9-10g of protein and under 100 calories, making them an ideal choice for people following keto, paleo, or Whole30 diets.
I tried the Original Beef, Jalapeno Beef, Italian Beef, Original Turkey, Pepperoni Turkey, and Venison sticks. Each stick had a distinct flavor profile that was absolutely delightful - it's hard to pick a favorite! As someone who is particular about textures, I was pleased with the balance between tenderness and bite.
One thing that really stood out to me was the clean label. Chomps takes the quality of their ingredients very seriously, which is evident in their allergen-friendly status. There are no artificial preservatives, nitrates, MSG, or fillers in these sticks, just real meat for an authentic taste.
However, I wish there was more variety in the size offering. Sometimes, I prefer smaller snacks that are easy to throw in a bag or lunchbox. Despite this, I am thoroughly satisfied with the Chomps Variety Trial Pack and look forward to trying more flavors in the future.
In summary, if you're looking for a yummy and nutritious snack that can go anywhere with you, Chomps Grass-Fed and Free Range Beef & Turkey Sticks are definitely worth trying. Just be prepared to become addicted to their delicious flavors!

I've been using Chomps Mini Grass-Fed Original Beef Sticks for quite some time now and they've become a staple in my diet. These little jerky sticks are the perfect blend of savory and smoky, with just a hint of spice that keeps me coming back for more. The taste profile reminds me of those backyard barbecues I used to love as a kid, just condensed into a convenient, portable snack!
One of the things that sets these beef sticks apart from the rest is the quality of the ingredients. The meat is sourced from 100% grass-fed and grass-finished cows, which provides a more sustainable option than traditional feedlots. Plus, they're made without any added sugars, fillers, or artificial preservatives, making them an ideal choice for anyone on a keto or Whole30 diet.
However, not everything about these snacks is perfect. Some users have reported issues with inconsistency in taste and texture, as well as a higher-than-average price point that might deter some potential customers. Despite these minor drawbacks, I still highly recommend giving Chomps Mini Grass-Fed Original Beef Sticks a try - they might just become your go-to snack like they have for me!

Mmm, these Chomps Original Beef Jerky Snack Sticks are perfect for on-the-go protein. I first discovered these during a hike when my energy levels were dipping. The slightly smoky, slightly spicy flavor was just what I needed to power through the rest of my adventure.
One of the things that I love most about these sticks is the use of grass-fed, grass-finished beef. I feel good knowing that I'm not only getting a delicious snack but also one that is sustainable and ethically sourced. Plus, with no sugar and 9-10g of protein, it's a guilt-free choice.
However, I will admit that the texture took some getting used to. The sticks are slightly drier than what I'm accustomed to in traditional jerky, but this also means they're less messy and perfect for tossing into my bag for a mid-day snack.
The convenience factor is another bonus. Each stick is small enough to pack away yet substantial enough to quell hunger pangs. And with no need for refrigeration, they're ideal for tossing into my gym bag or keeping in my car for those unexpected hunger cravings.
In terms of taste, the Original flavor provides a nice balance of smoky and spicy, while other flavors like Jalapeño and Habanero offer a more pronounced heat. It's also worth mentioning that these are Whole30 approved and certified Paleo, making them accessible to a wide variety of dietary preferences.
Overall, I'm very impressed with Chomps Original Beef Jerky Snack Sticks. They provide a satisfying, protein-rich snack that doesn't sacrifice taste or convenience. If you're looking for a quick and tasty way to refuel during your busy day, I highly recommend giving these a try.

I recently decided to give Chomps Turkey Sticks a try, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my on-the-go snacking routine. These paleo-certified, gluten-free, and non-GMO verified turkey sticks have become my go-to option for a quick protein boost.

The taste of Chomps Turkey Sticks is another aspect that has won me over. The mild spice level strikes the perfect balance between flavor and subtlety, catering to those who prefer gentler flavors. I also enjoy the slight variation in texture compared to other similar snacks, as it adds an interesting twist to the overall experience.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Some users report finding the turkey sticks quite bland or even unappetizing, with a taste reminiscent of dog treats. Personally, I didn't experience this issue, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're considering giving these snacks a try.
In conclusion, Chomps Turkey Sticks have quickly become my favorite protein-packed snack. 2024.05.20 06:44 PlayerofLifeandGames What does this mean in The Phantom Tollbooth?

The scene where the watchdog is helping Milo escape the Doldrums, one of the things he says (to help him think to power the car to escape the swamp) is “Dinosaur Insteps and potato ice cream” to which Milo replies “Potato insteps and dinosaur ice cream”.
He also says “Deoxyribonucleic Acid”, to which Milo replies “Deossy-Rye-Banana Clunk Castle”.
I get Alice in Wonderland vibes from this movie, and it’s obviously representative of what an acid trip might be like, but what were they smoking or tripping on when they came up with these lines?
Is this some kind of, grammar or vocabulary joke I’ve never heard of?
It sounds like some word salad psychosis nonsense, or someone high/tripping out of their mind.
Google does not seem to recognize these quotes AT ALL, despite recognizing The Phantom Tollbooth itself.
It sounds like someone was in an altered state of mind or something, but maybe I’m just an uneducated idiot who doesn’t get it?

2024.05.20 02:58 pink_sushi_15 I feel like Michelle should have been killed off in Fuller House

Once the Olsen twins decided they were not gonna participate, I feel like they should have just killed off Michelle rather than having her mysteriously absent the entire 5 seasons. She didn’t have to be a main character, as it was understood she lives in NY and was busy with her fashion business. But to be entirely absent the entire show throughout some very important family events didn’t make much sense, especially since it was given that they were a very close knit family. They could have easily killed her off in a car accident or something. This entire show and its spinoff revolves around the death of a family member and the grief and everyday struggles that follow for the family. So it wouldn’t exactly be out of place for them to do this.

2024.05.19 22:54 skr4wek Rumors / discussion etc about Giuseppe Andrews over the last decade or so

I thought it might be useful to lay out some of the more credible sounding comments and discussion I've seen around "the end" of Giuseppe's career and his disappearance. Nothing here is "officially verified", but I think there's a fair bit of truth in a lot of the information here, and might help point anyone who's interested in the right direction to a better understanding of his story. I've included the ones that make more sense to me/ reflect my own knowledge of the situation.
Giuseppe was living around Canandaigua, NY towards the end, staying with Mary's parents in her childhood home for a period, after they both had left Austin for unknown reasons. I would imagine the reasons would have likely been mental health and/ or money related for both of them (he was approximately 36 years old, at this point). Mary was still shipping movies out for a while around this time - the last order I placed on the website myself was November of 2014 and ended up emailing back a couple weeks later, because she had never sent me any information about receiving the order / shipping it out, in contrast to all earlier orders I had placed. She replied pretty quick though, and told me she had shipped it out earlier - it arrived about a week after. The return address was her parent's place in upper state NY.
Giuseppe's output got increasingly erratic and bizarre over the next couple years, and I wasn't really sure if half the items he was selling there were even real... they would have completely nonsensical descriptions, often like a free association / shitty "beat poetry" kind of thing, usually in all caps, featuring lots of bizarre and offensive language (racial slurs, AIDS references, etc), and the products listed were often things like a "3 minute DVD" for 20 dollars, so I was pretty skeptical / really didn't have much interest. He'd announce a ridiculous amount of new material, I'm talking like 5 new movies and 5 albums every week... The last order I made was for a few of the Austin films and I really didn't enjoy them, and more or less lost interest in any future projects at this point. I would still check periodically just to see what he was posting to the site, just out of curiosity / because a lot of it was really out there. He used to have audio samples for his "albums", and he almost exclusively was posting CDs of him ranting (with a ton of very weird throat clearing and coughing, it almost seemed like a Tourettes thing). His site went down somewhere between March 23, 2017 and July 3, 2017 according to Internet Archive. I can't remember exactly when he stopped adding new items, but it was probably sometime in early 2017.
He was clearly living in and around Canandaigua for a while, for at least 2-3 years, maybe even longer...
February 2017 - a twitter account called "HELP GIUSEPPE" was created and made three posts:
@ thecampaignbook Shia, G.A just came into my local bar needing help. he was stressin bad. hes in canandaigua NY and just stormed out of here
@ AdamRifkin G.A just stormed into my local bar, made it half way through the set up of this account and stormed out. needing you it seems.
@ EdwardNorton Giuseppe Andrews just came into my local bar very alarmed/needing a friend and help.
July 5, 2020 - a YouTube video entitled "What Happened to Giuseppe Andrews? A Short Investigation" is posted, some of the comments that were posted include:
(approx: 2021) I live in a small town called Carlin.. it’s literally 24 miles from Elko Nevada.. back in may of 2019 I was working at a small casino.. Giuseppe would often frequent the casino.. I worked the graveyard shift so it was mostly quiet.. he was polite and even remembered my name and would always ask me how I was.. I was able to get him to take a selfie with him and he even drew some artwork for me.. he told me that I could sell the artwork if I wanted to and fetch a decent price for it.. my husband and I were in the process of buying our first house and I told him no I would frame it and it would be proudly displayed.. he almost started tearing up..I’d happily upload the photo if YouTube would let me..
The same commenter also mentioned, responding to a comment about Detroit Rock City: yeah that was a good movie.. it’s really sad how his life played out.. he told me some sad tales of what he went through
> In early 2018 a man rang my doorbell in Canandaigua, NY. He was disheveled and seemed out of it***. He started yelling at me “I am Giuseppe Andrews, a Hollywood actor. I need you to call the police. “ I was startled and a little afraid but I told him to wait outside and I went in and called 911. He waited on my lawn and the police arrived in about 5 minutes. He spoke to the police in the car and then walked away. I don’t really live within walking distance of anywhere so not sure where he was going. I tried to obtain info from the police about what was going on but was not told anything. Has remained a mystery all these years later and I think people ( other than my neighbors who witnessed it) don’t believe me when I tell the story. Strange but 100% true.***
Some other interesting comments from various accounts, talking about the last stuff he was posting publicly:
> On his YouTube before he start d doing 13 albums in 2 weeks, his gf released a video a bunch of videos that was 4 or 5 hours long of him ranting on a couch with a guy. I think she was documenting it. I wish I would of downloaded it.
> And the next day it was all gone the footage, I have signed copys of DVDs and posters and shit he sent me in the mail.
(A reply from another commenter) - I remember he went on a long rant about various people in Hollywood and whatnot. Someone mentioned him having schizophrenia/paranoia, and while I'm in no way a psychologist or medical professional, it did seem like things were getting progressively more bizarre and unhinged. Given how creative and abstract he was when he initially started with his film making and music, I think it masked what was actually going on ( whether it was drug use, the onset of some sort of mental illness, or a mix of the two ). Earlier on he was still eccentric but seemed more lucid and driven with what he was doing.
> From what I've gathered (also a fan from DRC and Cabin Fever) his mother committed him to an institution and when released, he went to live with his mother. The twitter chick claims to be his fiancé now and he's no longer with Mary. But who knows.
It would turn out that Andrews also suffers from some very severe issues. Having chatted with his mother Giuseppegirl informed me that he has recently been placed in a mental health facility and has begun a 6 month stint in there where he has no access to the internet or anyone other than family members. He had a break up with his wife Mary Beth, who appears in a lot of his films, so it's possible that this is what put him over the edge. I've talked with Adam Rifkin who says he has some of Giuseppe's rarer films, but hasn't talked with the man for a few years now. That's as far as I have gotten in the rabbit hole.
A bigger YouTube channel made a video about Giuseppe's disappearance, titled "What Happened to Giuseppe Andrews? Internet Mysteries", posted Nov. 11, 2021:
(this commenter is different from account who made the earlier comment about ringing the doorbell in NY):
This dude showed up at my parents house 3 years ago in the middle of the night, asking for help and saying he needed to be let in. Absolutely no way was that happening. Long story short we found out after the fact that he was a character in Detroit Rock City & American History X some of my favorite movies
The last video of him I saw was a crazed rant of him yelling about censorship of art. He was real angry and cursing in a vlog style video. I think some people were criticizing him for use of racist language in his films I’m not exactly sure but I saw snippets of his rant and then the video was taken down a month later along with everything else.
1 year ago:
> He currently lives in Elko Nevada after having a schizophrenic break he still lives with his loving mother part time and she takes care of him. I see him around town a lot and only recently found out that he is Giuseppe Andrews. I can answer most questions if you’re curious.
There was also an interesting thread about 4 years ago, on a different subreddit:
https://www.reddit.com/RedLetterMedia/comments/gal55x/giuseppe_andrews/
A few of the more interesting remarks:
After his California days he spent a few years around Austin making films that mostly just starred himself and his wife Mary. Some of these are really good but his minimalism and experimentation are pushed to the limits here. Some are absolute garbage. After this there was a short stint in upstate New York with this same kind of limited style. Shortly into this cycle things for weird then he disappeared. Right before he disappeared he was posting a lot of troublesome content and releasing TONS of music and films with nonsensical names like "fffff" which would be followed up with "fffffffff". I haven't seen any of this stuff.
> I remember the New York era where things kinda went off the deep end. He released a lot of content where he talked a lot. There was quite a few where he would mention that he was desperately trying to reach out to John Frusciante
Has anyone else stumbled across any comments out there, that support this general narrative / add additional context, or perhaps give reason to believe something a bit different? In particular, towards the end with his site and the long drawn out "spoken word albums" / posts he would make? I listened to some of the audio samples when they were on the site years ago and some of it was unbelievably weird, like he was in a totally dissociated state, talking to people who weren't actually there. There were a couple specific celebrities he was "talking to" quite often, John Frusciante was one for sure, and another guitar player from a relatively small band I can't remember now (I looked them up at the time and thought it was particularly weird, as they were like a small time college rock band who had broken up years prior).
One thing I do remember quite distinctly was I was quite surprised when a shot of Giuseppe on a playground with a man and woman in upper state NY was posted to Instagram, a short while after his website went down. If I remember correctly, they were musicians and the caption said something to the effect that he was helping them film a video. At this point I thought he was more or less completely out of it based on what he'd been posting to his website, so I was really surprised that he had connected with some strangers to actually do something like that, but I don't believe there was ever any follow up posts. I haven't been able to find that post since, if anyone ever remembers seeing that, and who the couple were that would be unbelievably helpful to me!
From the bits and pieces that have come out, I feel like I can stitch together a bit of an understanding of how things might have gone down over the last decade, but a lot is still very speculative to an extent. I'm really curious if anyone out there can corroborate some of these stories in any way, or add any additional information!

2024.05.19 21:45 njwyf16 Exporting vehicle from USA/Import to Canada while landing with COPR

Hi everyone! I just received my COPR in the mail, and I'm all ready to land and start living without feeling like an outsider. I'm originally from Buffalo, NY, so I'm going to be landing at Queenston Lewiston.
To make a long story short, I'm wondering other people's experience exporting their vehicle ina similar time frame. I already have my ITN and such, but do they really hold your vehicle in the US for 72 hours? Do I need to rent a car for that time period or is me showing up with everything all set to go in terms of paperwork enough for them to prioritize exporting my vehicle the same day?

2024.05.19 20:31 wertion What Should I Try Next?

What to explore next?
TL;DR: Recent special interest in Scotch. Have looked at various things so far to understand it better (sourcing, fermentation, maturation, postprocessing). Need advice for new topics to explore.
Hey you all. I am getting into Scotch. I have a pretty sciencey mind. So far, I have covered:
1) Main regions of the Malt Map: I have had representatives from each of the corners, from each of the middle points between the corners, and from the middle.
2) Grain selection. I have tried whiskies that were made from different mashbills, and then from different barley varietals, including local or heritage varieties.
3) Yeast selection. I've tried whiskies that demonstrate the effect of yeast on fermentation. Most interesting was a Wilderness Trail expression which used Woodford Reserve yeast on a Rye. It was also interesting to try whisky from those distilleries, like Ben Nevis, which use different yeasts from most Scotch producers. I've also tried a couple of Four Roses expressions with the same mashbills and different yeasts.
4) Fermentation. I have tried whiskies which use a variety of fermentation regimens. Really long fermentations. Short fermentations. I have tried some Pot Still rum with open top fermentations, all of which have had interesting effects on the yeast.
5) Production Water selection. Most distilleries use reverse osmosis filtering on their production water, and so water source is irrelevant. That said, I have still tried whisky from distilleries with legitimately interesting water sources (Orkey hard water) and I have heard that maybe Ardbeg doesn't?
6) Distillation regime: I have tried a number of whiskies that showcase different distillation regimes. From triple, to partial triple (Mortlach's 2.81 distillation regime), I have experimented with whiskies which approach distillation differently.
7) Direct-firing vs. Steam jacketing stills: I have done verticals from distilleries (Glen Garioch, Glendronach) from before and after they stopped direct firing their stills. I have also tried whisky from distilleries that do both (Shizouka Prologues K and W).
8) Wood selection. I was initially sceptical of the effect that wood selection in the barrel (given its all oak) could have on whisky. But after having a couple of good demonstrations of the effect of for instance an all-mizunara aging regimen, I am convinced this is a relevant feature.
9) Wood treatment, seasoning, toasting and charring. Most recently, I have dove into the ways in which treating the barrel differently can bring forward different flavors. Even something like seasoning the wood slightly differently and more intensely can result in a different flavor profile.
10) Barrel Selection. I've tried whiskies that were aged in barrels that had previously held a variety of other drinks: Bourbon, Red Wine, Rye, Sherry, PX, Rum.
11) Age. I have tried young NAS whiskies and a couple older expressions. The oldest I've been able to try has been a 26 year old Glen Garioch. I probably cannot go much higher due to cost reasons.
12) Finishing. I have tried a couple whiskies that were early examples of finishing (auchroisk, glenmorangie, balvenie), and some interesting recent examples.
13) Chill-filtration. Obviously it is hard to find a good way to compare this, but it does seem to have some effect on say lipid concentration in whisky.
14) ABV. I have made it a point not to fetishize ABV, but I have tried a number of OB vs IB comparisons that demonstrate how much can be taken off the table by dilution. Conversely, I have tried some Upstate NY craft whiskies in which high ABV was hiding a lack of complexity.
15) Industry changes over time. I have tried a number of older whiskies from the seventies and before which demonstrate changes in the industry over time. Most striking was the change between a Dewar's white label from the seventies and a recent one. Surprising continuity in flavor but dramatic differences in mouth feel, nose, etc.
16) Off flavors. I have tried a number of whiskies that have "off" flavors. I have tried extremely sulfury expressions, rotten fruity expressions, and on Cadenhead's Pittyvaich bottling that had a disgusting movie theatre popcorn butter finish.
17) What I like. A couple of times, I have gone to a bar and just ordered whatever I was feeling. I am still in the early days of developing my palate and my taste, but I've tried some coastal whiskies, some lovely campfire-ish lightly peated whiskies, and some other things, just for the fun of it.
So far, I have been conducting my experiments primarily by going to bars and ordering whiskies. I have not bought many bottles yet, as I am, as they say, pretty capital constrained, and I want to learn as much as possible before settling down.
I am moving in August, away from a really good whisky bar to a town with none. That means I probably have five more visits, max, to this bar to try things before it becomes much harder to try whiskies. I want to make the best use of that time. So, I'm looking to you all for suggestions for areas to tackle next. I don't know what makes sense.

2024.05.19 19:55 Sirfryingpan123 I’m mad so I’m gonna rant about a story mission in FC5

“Hit The Gas” is one of Mary May Fairgrave’s missions that she gives you in Fall’s End. You need to steal two tanker trucks and bring them to Fall’s End. I started the mission at 11PM and said “I’m gonna go to bed after I complete this mission.” It took 45 minutes. I’m so pissed because I got the first tanker easily. But it took me like 20 minutes to find another, but I couldn’t get to another vehicle in time and it got away. I eventually get another tanker and as I’m trying to shoot the driver a cult pickup shows up behind me and kills me. It’s been like half an hour at this point. Finally find a fourth tanker, and I get jumped by a cult pickup. I eventually get Nick Rye back. (He was unavailable for the past 20 minutes). He helped me not get pwned by pickups. A tanker shows up, I end up killing the driver. The tanker rolls into another pickup truck that Nick was about to drop a bomb on. To my horror, I hear him say “Bombs Away!” And watch as the tanker that took me 35 minutes to steal be blown up. I was able to actually steal one and bring it back like 5 minutes later, but holy shit that mission killed me (mentally in real life and like 15 times in game)

2024.05.19 06:36 Definition_Novel Antanas Bimba Jr. - An American Lithuanian Revolutionary.

Antanas Bimba Jr. - An American Lithuanian Revolutionary.
In July of 1913, the newly-arrived to America Antanas Bimba Jr., a then 19-year old Catholic ethnic Lithuanian immigrant, would later become one of the most important political figures of the Communist movement in the United States.
Antanas Bimba Jr. was born in Lithuania in the village of Valeikiškis, in the Rokiškis district of Lithuania near the Latvian border, on January 22nd, 1894. His father, Antanas Bimba Sr., was a blacksmith and peasant farmer. Antanas Jr was one of six surviving children of his father’s second wife. The Bimba family were proud Lithuanians and devout Catholics, something that annoyed much of the Czarist government whom sought to impose Russian Orthodoxy and Russian language on Lithuania. This drove many Lithuanians, including the Bimbas, to immigrate to the United States and other countries in search of a better life.
During the summer of 1913, at age 19, Antanas arrived in Burlington, New Jersey on a steamship with an older brother. He and his brother were then employed at a steel mill for only $7 a week and worked 60 hours weekly. Due to unbearable working conditions, Antanas and his family relocated, and he and his brother took up another job in Rumford, Maine at a pulp mill. Although conditions there were marginally better than the steel mill job, Antanas became sick from chest pains due to inhalation of toxic fumes, and was forced to leave the job and seek yet another one. This experience of being an immigrant and being exploited for his labor had a profound effect on Bimba, and it drove his interest in Marxism.
After leaving the milling industry, he got his next job as a truck driver, becoming acquainted with Lithuanian American socialists in the process. His first revolutionary achievement was helping in making a co-operative bakery for rye bread, a staple food of the Lithuanian community. In becoming a socialist, he abandoned Catholicism, preferring agnosticism, what he called “religious freethinking”, not wishing to tie himself to organized religion. He later became an atheist as he got older in age.
In May of 1916, Antanas attended college at Valparaiso University, a small private college that became popular in attendance with members of the Lithuanian immigrant community in Valparaiso, Indiana. He attended there until 1919, earning a degree in history and sociology, and was able to pay for his classes by tending to a Lithuanian owned library in the town. In the summers he worked in a wire factory and machine shop in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bimba than became active in the Lithuanian Socialist Federation (LSF) , which served as a branch organization of the Socialist Party of America, with the LSF catering to Lithuanian immigrant populations (both primarily ethnic Lithuanian Catholics, as well as Litvak Jews.) He spent his time in the LSF writing numerous Lithuanian-language publications for them, as well as traveling to Lithuanian immigrant communities in cities in the US delivering Marxist political lectures amongst Lithuanian laborers in steel manufacturing cities like Gary, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois.
His first brush against the capitalist legal system came in 1918. It is not fully clear as to whether Bimba was arrested for his trade unionist and socialist beliefs, or his objection to World War One at the time. However, Lithuanian-American historians generally contend his arrest was a result of expressing all of those opinions publicly. Eventually he was released and charges were dropped.
In summer 1919, he got a job as editor of “Darbas” (ENG: “Labor”) the Lithuanian newspaper of the ACWA (Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America).
On September 1st 1919, the Socialist Party of America fractured into rival organizations, mainly amongst Social Democrat vs Marxist lines. The Marxist faction became the early iteration of the Communist Party of America, which the LSF backed, and Bimba was quick to support the CPUSA as a result. Bimba later became the editor of another Lithuanian American Marxist newspaper, this time “Kova” (ENG: “Struggle”) for the newly formed LCF (Lithuanian Communist Federation).
Following the Palmer Raids by the US government which seized communist publications and shut down their press, Bimba then published the LCF underground newspaper “Komunistas” (ENG:”Communist”).
In 1922, Bimba became editor of the Brooklyn, New York communist Lithuanian newspaper Laisvė (ENG: “Liberty”) and remained its editor until 1928.
In November 1922, along with 6 other Lithuanians, he founded and held a committee meeting for a workers trade union called the United Toilers of America (UTA). The UTA also had numerous branch organizations, mainly serving immigrant communities, which operated notably with the help of Bimba and the rest of the 6 man committee.
The organizations of the UTA were as follows:
The Workers’ Defense Conference of New England
Alliance of Polish Workers of America
The Ukrainian Association
Lettish (Latvian) Publishing Association
The Polish Publishing Association
The Lithuanian Workers’ Association
Woman’s Progressive Alliance.
Since most of these organizations served Eastern European immigrants, it can be argued that Bimba is perhaps the first person of a Soviet nationality who developed a “diaspora Soviet/Eastern Bloc consciousness” driven ideology, aimed at unifying different Soviet and Eastern Bloc people in the diaspora under socialism for the benefits of their labor. A true visionary Bimba was.
The UTA later became an organization absorbed officially into the Communist Party of the United States. The UTA eventually fell apart after raids by the government during the Bridgman Convention meetings of the UTA, in which its high profile leaders of William Z. Foster and C.E. Ruthenberg were arrested. After this, the UTA was disbanded.
But it was on January 26th, 1926 that Bimba truly made his biggest mark on Marxist history in the United States. He had traveled to Brockton, Massachusetts to address the Lithuanian community there at the Lithuanian National Hall. At the meeting he championed socialism, encouraged unionizing in the Lithuanian immigrant community, and criticized the Catholic Church.
He said in critique of the church as an institution:
“People have built churches for the last 2,000 years, and we have sweated under Christian rule for 2,000 years. And what have we got? The government is in control of the priests and bishops, clerics and capitalists. They tell us there is a God. Where is he?”
When he received pushback from religious individuals in the crowd who ridiculed his disbelief in God and Jesus Christ, he said:
“There is no such thing. Who can prove it? There are still fools enough who believe in God. The priests tell us there is a soul. Why, I have a soul, but that sole is on my shoe. Referring to Christ, the priests also tell us he is a god. Why, he is no more a god than you or I. He was just a plain man.”
After an individual complained to police, he was arrested and put on trial under Salem Witch Trial era blasphemy laws.
In addition to being charged with blasphemy, he was also charged under anti-communist political sedition laws, based on the following statement he made at the same meeting:
“We do not believe in the ballot. We do not believe in any form of government but the Soviet form and we shall establish the Soviet form of government here. The red flag will fly on the Capitol in Washington and there will also be one on the Lithuanian Hall in Brockton.”
With the legal and financial support of the local Worker’s Communist party, the International Labor Defense organization, and the American Civil Liberties Union, he was able to widen public support for himself.
The trial began on February 24th, 1926; six days later, on March 1st, 1926 he was found not guilty of blasphemy but guilty of sedition and ordered to pay a $100 fine. He was then released.
Opponents attempted to get him back in jail on more similar charges, but in a rare twist of events, the lead prosecutor dropped his case, simply saying it wasn’t worth pursuing.
As a result of the high profile trial of Bimba’s case, courts later ruled the blasphemy laws unconstitutional. As such, Bimba fighting such corrupt laws, causing them to be thrown out, is his crowning achievement.
In 1928, Bimba ran for NY State Assembly on the Communist Party ticket in the 13th Assembly District of Brooklyn, NYC.
Bimba also produced 2 important leftist American works, both originally in Lithuanian; A survey of labor history called “The History of the American Working Class” (1927), and an account of government repressions of Pennsylvania coal miners in “The Molly Maguires” (1932). Both books were published by International Publishers, a publishing arm of the Communist Party of The United States.
Bimba was an editor of a Marxist magazine for the final time in 1936, writing for the Lithuanian language publication “Šviesa” (ENG: “Light”).
In 1962, Bimba was awarded his honorary doctorate in history from Vilnius University in the capital of Lithuania.
Bimba was persecuted by the American capitalist legal system yet again in 1963, when the so-called “Department of Justice” tried to deport him on grounds of sedition while un-naturalized, on the grounds that, since he was not yet a citizen when brought to trial in 1926 (he didnt become a citizen until 1927) the court argued he should be deported due to pro-Communist activism prior to his naturalization. Historians generally agree the targeting of Bimba to be deported to Soviet Lithuania was politically motivated revenge, in that the DOJ was upset that Bimba refused to testify against other communists in the political witch hunts of the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1957 earlier.
Bimba appealed against the government until 1967, arguing to be allowed to stay in America, as he was politically committed to building socialism in the USA despite that he respected the USSR.
Miraculously, in July of 1967, Attorney General Ramsey Clark dropped his case, viewing it as a form of political intimidation.
Bimba later died in NYC on September 30th, 1982, at age 88. He left his mark on the movement for socialism in America, and made himself a hero for Lithuanian Americans and all diaspora Lithuanians.
In conclusion, don’t be like reactionary Lithuanians. Be like Antanas Bimba. Be revolutionary. May his accomplishments forever be acknowledged.
