2024.05.21 22:39 ExistentialSolace Ammonia Pipeline Operating Pressure Requirements

Howdy, I am exploring the environmental consequences of ammonia as a fuel. Part of the ammonia value chain is distribution from the production facility to the intended end-use or terminal storage to be transported further.
Considering a remote production facility that would distribute liquid ammonia to land storage at a port via pipeline (let's say 10-1,000 km), would the pipeline NEED to be pressurized above atmospheric presssure or would atmospheric pressure and electricity (increasing with pipeline distance) to power a pump be sufficient? I see that most US pipelines%20pressure) are pressurized to ~250 psi (17 standard atms) , presumably to maximize flow rate to end-use. Does the length of the pipeline determine the optimal operating pressure? I ask because I would like to consider the boil-off-gas (BOG) generated at distribution, storage, loading, ship transport, etc. Would BOG increase with increasing pipeline pressure?
From the papers (and paper)I have read, there is not consideration of pressure > 1 atm, granted these papers consider onsite (ie at the port) liquid ammonia production with the longest modeled pipeline at 1km used to load the liquid ammonia from land storage to ship storage.
Any guidance or infiormation is appreciated!

2024.05.21 22:30 ion_spire First PC build - advice appreciated!

Hi pcmasterace,
I've decided to finally upgrade my computer and am excited about building something that will hopefully hold up for a while. This is my first time building a PC so any thoughts on the components would be a huge help. I don't have a strict budget but would ideally keep it under $1500. Components are listed below. I posted this in /PCBuilds too and am hoping to get more suggestions.

2024.05.21 22:16 Miamic Feedback on build

Put together my first build in many years as I want to retire my trusty old 1060 3gb GPU. Looking for some general feedback for whether my choices make sense. I made a similar post yesterday but got some nice feedback (switch to AM5) so this is my updated build.
Keep in mind I am in Denmark so prices are in kroner. Total build cost is ~1.9k$.

Her budget is 1000€ but obviously any savings would be appreciated. When I configured her system (see above) I didn't really see a good way to spend the extra ~90€ though. I am looking for someone more experienced to tell me if I am leaving some obvious performance gains on the table.
Her system is currently an i5-4460 and a GTX 1050 Ti, so realistically any somewhat modern system is going to be a major upgrade. The impetus for her wanting to upgrade is her systems extremely poor performance on Helldivers 2 (literal single digit FPS at 1080p).
Her system is going to be mostly used for fairly light games (2D games or games like Coral Island), but occasionally she will play more demanding titles such as Monster Hunter: World or Helldivers 2, where her current setup really struggles. We're also both really looking forward to Monster Hunter: Wilds, so ideally her system will manage that, too, though obviously nobody knows for certain at the moment.
Her current display is a 1080p 60Hz display, so I'd state that as the goal for this build, but the option to upgrade to 1440p and/or a higher refresh rate would of course be nice.
I am a little worried about using last gen parts with little to no upgrade path down the line, but realistically she isn't the type of person to regularly upgrade her PC. If her last system is any indication she probably won't upgrade anything for the next 4 to 6 years, at which point she'll have to buy a wholly new system anyway.
With her build I was mostly focused on getting a good bang for the buck, but I am unsure if I achieved that goal. Perhaps there is a better way for her to spend her money?

My budget is 2000€-ish. If it ends up a little more expensive for noticeable performance gains I'd be willing to pay more.
This build is very close to /buildapcforme's $2000 recommendation, with a few changes:
I am looking to play modern 3D games (Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Helldivers 2, God of War: Ragnarok, perhaps replay The Witcher 3 etc.) at ultrawide 1440p, 165 Hz and ideally max settings. If this isn't possible I'd compromise on settings, because I certainly won't buy a 4090.
With my build the goal was "close to top of the line, while staying at a somewhat reasonable price point". I am fairly confident with my choices here, but I would still like a more experienced builder too look over the planned build in case I made any mistakes.

2024.05.21 21:29 Real_Donut_8330 Opinion on build and advise for case

I have not built a pc for about 7 years and I wanted to do an updated machine to allow me to play some of the newer titles.
below is my proposed part list, but the one thing I am struggling with is the case.
I at present have a Define R5 (no window) from Fractal Design... I am inclined to keep the case and maybe redo the fans. (I have 2 140mm in front intake and a 120 in the back for exhaust.)
would my R5 be sufficient for airflow... I could add a 120 at the top ( I wish to keep a positive air pressure) and even leave the door open on the front ( it sits sideway on the back of case behind monitors

Trend 3 – Search Beyond Words
Circle to Search
Search anything on your screen with just a circle, highlight, or tap.

Trend 4 – Beyond Answers
Some people are not looking for answer, they are looking to explore, or be inspired.
Rather than just getting a simple AI response, they will be getting a catered ai page specifically created for their request.

2024.05.21 20:17 123ido9 Build review for first PC

Hi, I’m looking to build my first PC. I am completely new to this, so any feedback or adjustments is appreciated. I plan to use it for gaming, probably with slightly older games and indies. Don’t really have a set budget, but anything vaguely around 1000 is good.
I don’t mind upgrading/swapping anything. (l do like the case tho lol)
Apparently the CPU comes with a cooler, so I didn’t list one. But if I should get one, lmk. Also this is probably a dumb question but do I need to get a case fan? 😅 Thanks for any help!

2024.05.21 19:45 _The_Intern_356 OXO Pop vs Cambro FreshPro Lineup: Which to Commit?

Greetings!
I'm starting to move out of the house and begin building my adult kitchen. One of the things I want to try locking in early is tupperware and pantry storage containers, particularly for sugars, flours, etc. I'm a big baker, so having easy to use boxes that seal well but also do multipurpose duty is important to me.
Right now I've narrowed the options down to either OXO Pop or the latest Cambro FreshPro lineup. Reviews on reddit seem somewhat mixed between the two: mentions of BPA, lid seals not being great, breakability, accessibility, etc. I'm hoping to generate more discussion on this topic and then lock it in - going forward, only going with one style so I can build a massive collection. Here's the Pro/Cons list that I've seen so far:
